How is it possible that you can tell the NY Jets where to spend their private money? The NY Jets are prepared to make a private investment of $800 million in our city, and all you can do is complain about where they want to spend it. Ungrateful wretch!! Why would the NY Jets want to spend any money to build a stadium in the swamps of Queens -- they already have a stadium in the swamps of the Meadowlands. A stadium in Queens will not have the economic benefits of the West Side Stadium, nor will it contribute to our city's ability to attract the best and largest conventions. The fact is, we do not have the money to build an Olympic Stadium, and we can't get the Jets to do it, who will? Finally, the $600 million in public money for the New York Sports and Convention center must be spent to ensure proper expansion of the Javits convention center. With the NY Jets private investment of $800 million, we will get a first class, environmentally significant, high technology, multi-use facility to join to the Javits Center. Without the NY Jets private investment, we would get an air-conditioned pole shed over the railroad yards. Think about it. The King of Queens
