The Future (of This Web Site)

So, where do we go from here.... Do we work to eliminate the Public Authorities Control Board? Do we work to ensure that a 200,000 square-foot exhibition hall is included on anything built over the west side rail yards? Do we cool our heels until we find out what the Jet's next step will be? For that matter, do we wait until the MTA re-bids the West Side Rail Yards with a publically funded infrastructure platform, hoping the city will come thru with $300 million for a possible openable roof? Could the future be a Jets development that includes an MTA Headquarters Building, a multi-use stadium and convention center, affordable housing (no revenue there) and enough commercial, residential and retail devolopment to pay the MTA asking price (~$1 billion) as well as pay for the Flushing Subway expansion. Food for thought. Patrick Queens

The Future (of This Web Site)

Basically, I built this website on the bet that the Jets would move to the West Side. At the time, it seemed like it would happen but as we get further and further away from that and closer to the reality that the New York politics are more powerful than good economic decisions, it is becoming clear that it just isn't going to happen. There is still a chance, but boy does it look slim. Today there is a report that the Jets are considering moving the training out of Hofstra, which again certainly doesn't bode well for any idea of Queens or WSS. Rumors abound, but my hopes get dashed on the rocks more and more often and really, while I once thought that the New York Jets would never move to NJ or out of the area completely I can no longer say that does not look like a possibility. As to the future of this website, well it goes as the Stadium goes. If the Jets find a way to build the WSS obviously I will build out this site and hopefully add it to the many great Jets websites. If the Jets build a stadium in Queens I would consider changing it over to a Queens based stadium/Jets website. If they stay in NJ, all bets are off and this website just becomes another relic. :) Jake
