jake,
figure u and me are the only ones still left on this website. well after listening to Woody vow to return the Jets back to New York and Jay Cross telling reporters that 'the heart of the NY Jets resided in Queens', it has been officially revealed today that this was all a grand illusion. it was never about New York. it was certainly never about the Jet fans which makes our participation in websites like this one seem inconsequential. there's no one out there actaully listening to fans. unfortunately, the Jets never made the effort to understand what a stadium in Queens would do to enhance this franchise from every perspective. they allowed themselves to be bullied by a lame duck Jersey governor by signing the future of the team away out in the swamps of New Jersey. they have alienated their true base of fans here in New York forever. I attended that press conference at Borough Hall in Queens and allowed myself to believe that my team was actually sincere about bringing our team home after 20 years. what fools we were. hey Woody, you cold, short sighted, greedy fool - you ripped our heart's out today - I've been a season ticket holder and diehard fan for over 40 years. you can count your money and keep your stinking team. thanks - for nothing..

While I understand how you feel, as I too am upset about it, I don't think it is fair to put all of the blame on Woody. He did spend $75 million of his own money and three years of his time trying to get the New York Jets their own stadium in New York City. To say that he didn't and abandon the Jet fans is just wrong.
The question is, would the Queens thing have worked out and to be honest, I don't think it would have. New York politicians proved that they can stop anything and that, combined with the NIMBYs that were going to come out of the woodwork could have meant another $50 million in trying and still no stadium.
At that point, we might have ended up being a tenant again in the Giants NEW stadium, which would have been worse.
It is time to regroup and look on the bright side. We do get a brand new stadium in a place we have called home for 20 years and it will no longer be Giants stadium. In 5 or 10 years, it will be the true home of the Jets.
