00 Justin: Onan! You've got his best in life. You crash your enemies, see them driven before you, and they get an implementation of their women. The best place to be is when expectations are high. Get used to it. It's always going to be that way. Jake: Welcome to the Jet Kingdom podcast. As always, on this side of the digital desk, across the digital aisle, down the digital lane, is Jake. Joining me, not looking happy in my opening at all, is Justin. Maybe it's because you're winning picks last week, or not as winning as they could have been. Is that why you're not happy? What's up, Justin? That was the lamest intro I've heard. There's been 87 different intros. There's got to be one that was lamest than that. Nope. You sure just took the cake. Alrighty, well we got a big agenda with no cake in it at all. Mmm, cake. Talk about the bye week blues. We talked about other games that happened last week since there was no Jets game. Other teams caught up to us. It was a big topic. injuries, talk about other kingdoms, and then we'll talk about the pick them. See who did well last week and who's gonna dominate this week. So let's get to it. And who's still ahead on the season? Big point there. Let's not break it. Let's not skip ahead. Gotta leave something for people to listen to. So let's talk about last week. Jets were off. They were. Great time to be off. Fabulous time to Justin: be off. Couldn't have asked for a better time to be off. Well, unless you're like on a five game winning streak. Jake: Yeah, you're fine with your winning streak, but you need time for everything to get better. Needed pace to get a little bit better. Needed revious to get a little better. I'm happy with the time, the timing of it. Now it's time to get back and do a 10 week winning streak. Bam. So Jeff. were off but some other teams played and I think some not really big surprising outcomes because I think the teams we thought would win like let's talk a little bit about Miami versus Steelers we're gonna get to that in our other Justin: Kingdom segment okay so then what are you gonna talk about well I think that there's teams that aren't in the other kingdoms of the AFC East I see that we can perhaps talk about you know perhaps Denver getting their ass handed to them by Oakland 59 points how did that same team almost beat us in the same location have the Raiders come in and just absolutely destroy them it doesn't make them look like they're very good does it it makes our win look a lot less significant. Yeah totally. Like I thought oh that's a hard place to play the only thing I could chalk it up to is a division game like Oakland's a division rival and maybe they were just like we're gonna go in there and kill you sometimes like the bills come in and you know beat the Patriots but I don't
01 Justin: know. It was a Jake: I think it was the one o'clock. I see. Well, this was actually interesting. This was a four o'clock. This was an interesting week. I did watch it because I was watching all three games, but an interesting week because both AFC teams were on national television where we live in New York. It was good for me because I don't have Fox still. And we said it was going to be a good week of football. I think it was. I think it was a really... All the games were interesting. All the games were... close to what I was watching. Justin: Yeah, I got to watch the Dolphins Steelers early and the Patriots Chargers late and I still don't have Fox. Thank you Cablevision. Thank you Fox. Yeah, no World Series for Justin. That's cool It's alright because your team's not in anymore. I need to watch baseball. That's cool You know, it was a good week. The Cowboys, they look like they're dunners. They stink and their quarterback's out for six to eight weeks. So they look just about done. They do look bad. Jake: And I'm surprised that all the polls coming across, we talked about this a little bit offline, but all this polls coming across rating the Giants as like number three in the polls. We'll be right back. in the power rankings. In the power rankings. I think they're a team that seems to be dominating, but they're beating up on some teams that are literally packing it in, just don't want to play. They kept saying that in the broadcast, but it was true. It didn't look like the Cowboys wanted to play. They weren't tackling. They didn't care. Like, oh, well, it's just... Justin: go home. Well one thing's clear, the AFC is so much better than the NFC, it's not even funny. This year it's pretty powerful. The Giants haven't beaten an AFC team yet, have they? That was their first division game and I pretty much wrapped it up. They wrapped up, I mean take Cowboys for going away. The Cowboys are done and the Giants seem to injure every quarterback they play which is kind of cool. So let's hope we don't play them. Yeah well if we do it'll be in the Super Bowl so let's hope we do play them. That's what the Jake: Vegas odds are saying is that the Super Bowl right now the biggest matchup the number one best bet is Jets versus Giants in the Super Bowl. The best bet is AFC Justin: minus three right now. I think you can get that right now. That's a good bet. That's a pretty good bet. Jake: You have on the agenda far of donors, but he's not he's donors. Well, he's dinner from the actual like From the point of being a competitive person who's gonna go out there and win games for you I think he's pretty much first off how bad this week Justin: He played so bad and he's still he's still freakin far where he if there was no replay He pretty much won that game for them cuz I don't know the guy that referee standing literally three feet from Percy Harvin and he can't see that his whole foot is out of bounds. I don't really understand that. Like what's he looking at if he's not looking at his feet? But still, Favre on one leg did drive them down the field and essentially almost win the game for them. And he still had one of the worst games. He had a Favre game. He had a total Favre game. Jake: I still... think that replay, first of all, I was surprised.
01 Jake: Wade Phillips did this in the Cowboys Giants game. He was like throwing the flag for a first down in the S in the middle of the field when they were up by 10. In the first quarter when they're up by 10. Why? Yeah. Why do you do that? Justin: Some coaches' choices of replays are just not good. The only rationale for it, I guess, is that you think, well. I may not have to use this ever, I may as well use it now, but I don't know what he was at. But you're up by 10. Yeah, but that would have gotten him off the field. I actually understood that, because it was a bad call. Jake: It was a bad call. It didn't even get reversed, so it should have. It should have got reversed. But it was even a typical call that... you know isn't gonna get reversed very often. The one where he weaves and bobs on the one, the line. It's not something like it, you can see it pop out or something. The other one, the other one was the Ben Roethlisberger Justin: touchdown going on the line. You're just itching to go on to other kingdoms. Jake: Well, let's get to the meat. Why do we have to talk to each other? You're just itching. Justin: There's injuries, reason says he's on. Meat that says he's good, Howard Green is gone. Let's move on. Oh, I'm so mad about Howard Green being gone. Big fat guy. I love Howard Green and now he's on. frickin Packers. He'll be on the Packers until what Monday morning? I guess. Come on. Jake: He'll be back if we need him. I want him back. I love Howard Green. So Ravis looks like he's a hundred percent, we'll see. He spent the whole bye week. I'm from Missouri. I'm from the show me state. Show me. He's spent the whole bye week getting all trained up. We can talk we can talk all about what he's gonna do against the Packers later. Let's talk about the other kingdoms. All right. You want to start with Miami? I don't want to start with Buffalo. Well, you've mentioned Miami twice. No, I'll start with Buffalo because I was right about this game. You're the greatest. I am. I was right about this game. I said this is going to be a game that the Buffalo Bills are going to play real good and still lose. Justin: Yeah, and they're going to surprise some people. They did get screwed at the end. They did, they got screwed at the end. That was a screw job. That guy's forward progress was stopped. I don't care if he's in the air and getting pushed forward, he was clearly stopped. As in the three AFC East games that were on, Jake: the Buffalo versus Baltimore, New England versus San Diego, and Miami versus Steelers, all three of them, they were all very good, came down to very close at the end. Two of them came down to... the last play. Yeah, so I mean, they were big games. The AFC East is a competitive, even for as bad as Buffalo is at 0-6, they're still able to go against Baltimore. They can score, but they can't stop anybody. I think they've given up 30 points to everyone they've played so far. They stuck it in there with Baltimore, and I feel good about that because that means that Baltimore's not as good as... We destroyed Buffalo. Yeah, but Baltimore beat us. By a point. Yeah, but they beat us. And we destroyed Buffalo. So I think that was the week that you kind of come off. To be honest, I don't think we were prepared. The other teams we were prepared for, I don't think we were prepared for the Baltimore...
00 Jake: You know, you talk about the distractions of the off-season, I think that led to not being prepared for Baltimore. Yeah. New England and San Diego... You can say, I mean you say New England makes San Diego look like crap. Well San Diego has no problem looking like crap. They don't need New England to do that for them. But they let San Diego come right back in that game. They were a field goal away from taking it to overtime. Justin: What was Bill Belichick's being Mr. Genius? Jake: Going for it on fourth and whatever again. I don't know why he does that. And not getting it again. How many times? I don't know. Justin: I don't know. I don't know why he does that. His team is not... And especially running for it. I don't mind going for it But that if you're the Jets you run and you get it right if you're the Pats you throw and you get it They don't run like they're not a running that great possession We're best running back is Danny Woodhead like they don't run. They're not a big bruising running team They can't get a yard and San Diego Jake: Oh man, what would they pay for a kicker at this point? How many games have they been totally eliminated from? Playoffs, games. That was even a different kicker. I know, but I'm saying, kickers alone have just destroyed them. They're not done yet. That division's not locked. Well that division's horrible. They'll be back in. And then Miami, you're saying Miami gets screwed. I'm not so sure. Yeah, they got screwed. So I actually listened to a lot of the replays, I didn't watch the guys come on and talk about it over and over again. I think they didn't get screwed on the play call. I don't think they got screwed on the play because I think it was too... You couldn't have seen that in real time. Then they got it right on, he did fumble. The piece that they got screwed on... which I don't know why this isn't a better, something in the NFL, you can't, there's not something more measurable about the ball, like who has it, but not saying that- Justin: How about the guy who gets up with the ball in his hand and says, here's the fucking ball in my hand, that's the guy who got the ball. You would think. That's it, it's so simple. That guy got up, he was wearing a dolphin's uniform, he said, here's the ball. Jake: But this is, that's a happy game for me. happy happy because I don't know I kind of wanted the Dolphins to win that game no I want dolphins not to win any more games and be competitive and I want the Dolphins to prove that we can beat any team including the Steelers. Steelers didn't look that great they weren't I mean the only thing with the Dolphins is when you get the ball at the starting quarter and you get the ball at the 9th and 12th yeah they should have like 14th now. Even 10 like okay you're not gonna get two touchdowns but don't leave the six points I mean Just let Ben come back and beat him over the head. Alright. Whoo! Anything else from week uh, week seven that you want to talk about? Justin: No. You want to talk about how good I am in Jet Game and Picks? You're not that good at it, because you're still under 500. How about last week? How about last week? Oh my god, one week. Yeah, you did good one week. So let's talk. Congratulations Jake. You won a week. You did good. No, it's the only second week I've won. No. Yeah, it is. You're still under 500 for the year. It doesn't matter. I'm up and down. Thanks for watching! You're so pathetic. I'm gonna take joy in one week. One or two more weeks like that and I'll be Crush the E.
01 Justin: Bill's fan. We almost won this week, but we're still behind six. No, I won that week. No, I won that week. Oh my god. How many points am I behind you? Three points. You're still three games behind me. Okay, how many did I beat you by this week? You won by four this week. So, wow, you win by four in a week and you're still behind three. a week like that and I'll be ahead of you. Let me just ask you. I can't wait till I'm ahead of you so that I can be on the other, I'm so ready. Let me ask you two simple questions. And you do it in the pool? Let me ask you two simple questions. Yes. Which one of the two of us is under 500 for the year? That'd be me. Which one of us is over 500 for the year? That'd be you. Okay. That's it. Two simple questions. It's two simple questions. Two simple questions. Who won last week? Two simple questions to move on to the jack-cater pick. Did you pick over 500 last week? No. Which one was it over 500 last week? Do you want to... I take the long view here. Jake: Oh no, you didn't... I'm winning. I'm winning. I'm on the ramp. I'm getting ready. Justin: You're crashing. You suck. You're getting worse. I'm getting better. Let's explain the jam. Thanks for watching. I'll see you in the next video. Kingdom Pick'em to everybody. Jake: All right, so we have two things we do every week. We pick the Jet Kingdom Pick'em, which we do in Yahoo against other people. And then we pick the AFC East, and we call that the Throne Picks. And we pick those games with scores. So every week Justin tries to not read off the AFC games as we go through our Jet Kingdom Pick'em. And then we'll do Throne Picks afterwards with scores and a little bit more analysis. on the AFC's matchups this week, four different matchups. This one's gonna be tough because there are four. Well we got a lot of times we didn't have anything to discuss about the Justin: That's true, so again these are with spreads and here we go. Test right away. Well we talked about last week, who was the winner? You were the winner. Who's winning overall? Mike is still winning overall. He's winning four away from you. He's four ahead of me. It's falling away Mike, way to go. Alright so, you won last week. Get ready to lose this week. And the first game features the Cowboys coming off a loss on Monday night against their bitter rival Giants. They play at home in Jerry World against Jacksonville, one of the oddest... teams in the league coming off of two ugly performances. For some reason Dallas with John Kitten is starting is a six and a half point favorite. They couldn't even win with Romo so I'm taking Jacksonville in the points here. Six and a half is a lot for John Kitten Jake: that would be given. I think they'll go back to I think the Cowboys would just go back to doing what they should be doing more often which is running the ball. They'll be they'll be fired up around. Kitten hasn't won a game in three years. Justin: All right, good. There's one for me. And moving right along, we have Detroit with Matt Stafford making a start. He's coming back off the injury list. Guy's always injured. His shoulders always hurt. They are hosting Washington, the Redskins.
00 Justin: and Detroit is favored by two and a half at home. I'm gonna pick Detroit. I think they'll be fired up coming off the by with Stafford, got a lot of talent. I don't like Washington on the road. I love that you say the Detroit Lions. They do. And their talent. Jake: and their talent. They have some talent. They can win games. They have individual talent. I'll take them at home. I'll take the, I'll take Detroit at home. Agreed. Justin: Alright, moving right along, we have the match-up of the week, St. Louis hosting Carolina. Carolina got their first win last week. The toilet bowl. St. Louis is pretty good at home. St. Louis is home and giving three. I'm going to pick St. Louis because I think they're pretty decent at home. Jake: Carolina is one of the worst. The Bills are the worst team. in the football by record. Justin: I think if the Bills played Carolina, the Bills on a neutral site, the Bills would probably win. Somehow they both lose. They just figured out a life from both. No, they both lose. They'll tie like three, three. They'll be disqualified. All right, it's a punt off. I will take St. Louis as well. All righty, moving right along. We're moving overseas. We are shipping the NFL to England for this one. San Francisco, one of their... home games but at Wembley facing Denver. So San Francisco for some reasons favored by one even though they're one in six. Denver's two and five I guess they're taking into account the just the demolition of Denver last week but San Francisco is no better. I'm picking Denver and I'll take the one point on neutral site. I'll take I'll take Denver. I agree when when you know this was in London. Yeah, this is the London games are one or two this just this one I think that's not that's a great game. Yeah, we're shipping shit over to London. This is this is revenge Here take this shot some really you know it is When you're when you're posed with AFC vs. NFC I'll take AFC most of the time if they're like look like even teams so you never know if Denver was in Francisco's division or conference what their record might be Denver yeah, I think Denver's I mean even though they just got Womped their chair I mean they started six and oh last year and since then they haven't really they just lost two games at home I figured they get their do one at home away. This is an away game I'll give it to them Denver can't believe they make this a home game for somebody in San Francisco They lose only half of us someone that's that home game kind of sucks I would hate if the Jets lost a home game because they went and played London that would really bother me. Anyway moving right along this is a good game San Diego is home where they play pretty decent. They've only lost once this year just this just this last week. They're hosting Tennessee coming off a big win where they beat Philly. San Diego's giving three and a half and I think this is one of those gambler trap games where you're like it was San Diego two and five oh Tennessee five and two. Wow, Tennessee's getting three and a half. I'll take Tennessee. Nope! I'm taking San Diego. Jake: San Diego looked horrible last week. Tennessee has the ability to run the ball.
01 Jake: I'll take Tennessee on the road. Give me the three and a half points. I think it'll be close. You will take it. You will take the three and a half. Justin: the next game the juggernaut Oakland Raiders at home facing Seattle Seattle looking pretty decent this year they think they're four and two I swear we said how horrible they are they're right now and now they're now they're foreign to and they win a road game they don't generally went on the road but I think they went on the road last week I think they played on the road Anyway, they're getting two and a half and I'll take the points. I'm taking Seattle. I will take Seattle on the points Oakland is gonna ride that one win for the rest of the season The next game another ugly one Arizona is hosting Tampa Arizona coming off there by Tampa coming off their coach proclaiming them to be the best team in the NFC Big talk big big talk particularly when Atlanta and New Orleans are both in your division, probably the third best team in your division. Anyway, I'm going to take Tampa on the road here. I think Tampa just finds a way to win games or at least play them close. And the spread is three. I'll take Tampa in the points. Jake: Yeah, I mean Arizona usually plays much better at home, but I still don't know what Arizona is as a team. And if you try to define them, you know, they have some running backs, but they seem to kind of... Thank you. Justin: No quarterback, which is really Jake: No, it just keep going back and forth Anderson will probably start I think everybody will do well and and when winner or keep Justin: Of course. All right, we're on to prime time to get two good prime time games again this week Yeah, the first one is Halloween evening obviously all these games are on Halloween but this is the evening in New Orleans where it's a big deal they are taking on Pittsburgh and this is a really good matchup I think and New Orleans just got crushed at home by Cleveland. A lot of mistakes a lot of just man genius pulling everything out of his ass. It was a lot of mistakes. A lot of just fake punts and trick plays and holding calls and anyway I'm picking New Orleans at home because they have to win this game this is a must win type of game for them and I think it'll just be extremely hostile in that in that 8 30 start in New Orleans on Halloween yeah I agree I think I picked Jake: one straight up. I like New Orleans at home, although last week again they just they just they got their bots kicked. It just happens like you're a good team sometimes you just get your ass kicked for some reason. I think they're in this little Super Bowl hangover deal. Definitely. Pittsburgh? I don't think Reggie Bush is playing again. Pittsburgh does not again I watch the game against Miami. Miami was not, you know, Miami was, I think, is not a very good team. They're okay. They have some pieces, but they're not great.
00 Jake: They were keeping right in there with, you know, if not for one or two plays, would have won that game. Although that seems to be Miami's entire season this year. So I'll take their wings. I think they'll turn around. Justin: Somehow they'll turn around. And let's move on to the Monday Nighter, where the Colts coming off their bye week. have an extra day of rest. Peyton Manning at night always good. They are taking on Houston, the division rival who beat them in week one. And they're giving five and a half. I don't think Indy loses twice to the same team in the same year, especially when they won like 15 out of 16 against this team. and Peyton generally wins big at night so he wins on Thursday nights he wins on Sunday nights he wins on Monday nights so I'm gonna take the Colts to cover nice I will take Colts Colts at night Colts Colts Colts alrighty so let's move on to our throne picks, which are the AFC East games. How'd you do last week? Last week, let's see. I went one and two. Nice. But really off on the scores. Like I thought Buffalo would lose 41-nothing. Jake: Yeah, just what's that, what was the Buffalo score again? Justin: It was 30 something. 34-33. Yeah, 37-34. So it was close for Baltimore's score. not really close for anything else. Dates scored 34 minutes. Actually, you know what I had Pittsburgh winning too. I was two and one last week. I too was two and no, I was three and oh. I got Pittsburgh winning, New England winning, and I picked Buffalo winning. I mean, Bills winning. You picked the Bills to win? I mean the Buffalo. You picked the Buffalo to win. I mean Baltimore. I'm staring at it. Which one did you win? Jake: I'm trying to talk and read the same time. The Buffalo or the Bills? Reading is fundamental. Or the Baltimore. Alright, let's move on. Let's talk this week. Justin: This week. Jake: Although I did pick 2321 for the Pittsburgh game and it was 2322. It's pretty good. It is pretty good. I picked 2317. I was off at one point. Last week was my week baby. Justin: Woo! Let's talk. Coming to this house? Wow. Thanks for watching! Just lower the volume. All right, let's talk about the three that aren't the Jets, and then we'll talk about the game in a century and maybe a little bit more detail. So Miami, coming off that loss, heads to Cincinnati, who stinks. And I think Miami will win on the road because they seem to win on the road and lose at home this year. So Miami wins 23-17. Yeah Miami, there's something about their home that they're not being blown out at home. Jake: They got blown up by New England but that was special teams. They stuck it with In with us, they stuck it with the Steelers. There's something about home. Justin: I don't think they are built like a good road team. Like they run, they play decent defense. That's a good run for road team. Jake: I'm still watching Henny. There's two things still wrong with that team.
02 Jake: Henny's inability to throw a short intermediate pass, something that is not a bomb down the side. He threw one ball that bounced like 16 feet short. And then another one that went 15 feet over someone's head. It's like that's what he does. And then the play calling. The play calling is just like they totally given up on the wildcat. They don't do wildcat anymore. The Jets do more wildcats than they do. But that's stupid because there's a good reason to use it. I'm not saying you should use it all the time like they did last. year or two years ago but they have the personnel still to run it so run it once or twice a game just as something to change it up and you can still pick up the five yards or six yards and maybe you bust one with Ronnie Brown I think that's dumb so play calling but I think they win this Cincinnati's no good Justin: I think this will be kind of a resurgence it'll be 27-13 yeah Cincinnati's not that good they're just so not disciplined Go figure, Tio and Ocho on the same team and they have no discipline. Yeah, Batman and Robin, how they doing? Yeah, I don't know. Enough fighting crime. They're doing well on VH1. Alright, moving right along, we have the Bills going to Arrowhead in Kansas City. A very tough place to play. Buffalo coming off of a game where they almost won. So I think that they're due for a bit of a letdown. Jake: Like, they're due for a letdown off their loss? Justin: Yeah, like that was like their moral victory for the year. So I'll say Kansas City wins 30 to 21. This was tough for me because I actually like Kansas City. Jake: but I think Buffalo is there do a win I don't think this will be this let's just Justin: hope they win before they play the Jets next which I think is the last week last week this season so let's just hope they're not a win 15 because that will Jake: suck I if it were own 15 and we had a spot picked out for us in the playoffs and turned to one of those should we rest them and let them go by no I I know no Justin: look Before we you pick your score then we'll then I want to 20 20 to 21 Casey wins 21 20, Kansas City Yeah, all right scenario bills are own 15. Yeah, Jets are Jake: 12 and 3 12 and 3. Okay, so we but at that point we have that everything locked that we're gonna get 12 and 3 Home field advantage. Justin: Home field advantage, number one seed. Whether you win or lose, you're the one seed. Which means you have to buy the next week, got the home games, everything. Rest them. Really? Jake: Rest them. I can't do it. I watched Wes Walker get hurt in the last game of the season, broke his leg, going in the playoffs, no reason. So, what happens to San Antonio, brakes gets broken in half, or Mark Sanchez busts his elbow, or Sean Green cracks a rib, or just... No, again the the you rest them Justin: Blerg all right. I disagree If it was if it wasn't the bills, you know, what if they're like, you can't not get hurt The thing is you can't here's my thing Jake: Yeah
00 Jake: If they're own if they are own 15 India is different because they were going for the perfect season versus not going for a season Then I think you play for it because it's a momentum thing. Listen, but 12 and three is not going for a perfect season Justin: No, you're not but you're trying to shut them out. I want that because they suck in there the bills Yeah, and they'll be playing the heart if they're one in 14 Then I say sit them if they're owned 15 gotta beat them just the man just you make them an old 15 team Oh in 16 16. Yes. Absolutely. Okay any real Jeff fan would agree with me Yeah, moving right along Minnesota and Randy Moss and Brett Farves junk make their way to New England for a matchup on Halloween Obviously all of these are on Halloween you keep saying that I do Monday night Randy Moss will be showing up with his with his his His Minnesota gear on you know they'll be like oh look Moss is back. Oh, but he's very what are you dressed up? I'm dressed up as Minnesota Viking so I think Minnesota is gonna win 1917 I think Moss'll score a touchdown and You think Minnesota is gonna win. Yeah, I do it's one of those things Jake: No, England is five and one I get it they lost to us only that's true I don't know. Minnesota sucks. They don't suck. They suck. They don't really suck. They lose to good teams. Justin: Well they're about to play a good team. Maybe they'll beat a good team. Jake: It's gonna be close. It's gonna be low scoring. I think you won't go 4-1 anymore. I think Minnesota loses 19-26 so 26-19 New England that's low scoring yeah that's not low score from Minnesota 19 points it is high flying offense and they're not that high flying this year I think that's the point of not winning all right moving right along to the game of the century Justin: game of the day game of the night game of the weekend game of the millennium Green Bay Packers and the Cheeseheads make their way to the New Meadowland Stadium, which will be tricked out for Halloween. Yeah, they actually will have a trick-or-treat thing going on for the kitties. And you're going to the game. I'm going to the game. You're not going with me. I'm not. I'm going with my father. Nice. Yeah. Yeah. Pops and I are gonna be sitting there in the 100 section right next to our near farming end over there. Yep, here we have a section away. A section or two away and we'll be rooting rooting hard for the JETS Chet Chet Chet. I will be bringing two very close Packer friends, Packer fans. I'll be sitting there with jet fans, you'll be sitting with cheese heads. So here's why you're gonna like this. Go on. Jake: First of all those Packer fans have been over our house to watch the Packers. in the last two weeks. So two weeks they were playing at one o'clock. So against the one they lost by the field goal and the other one they lost by the field goal. So those
03 Jake: two Packer fans with the Packers have horrible on their own team, meaning their luck is bad. Second of all, the last time that the Packers played in New York against the Jets. Justin: Was it that year we needed to win and make the playoffs? That's right, and guess who it was. Same two Packer fans at least one of them so and we destroyed them Let's talk about the game a little bit. All right, hackers are banged up very bad. They lost another two players Yeah, they are just completely banged up. They have Essentially a shell of themselves. They're there offensively to banged up offensively. They still have a call offensively They're they're missing Ryan Grant. Yep. They're missing Jermichael Finley on top tight end in the league I mean, these are like They have like an all-star roster on their IR. Like they hurt really their engine. Their IR team could beat their team. They could beat the Bills. Like Green Bay IR versus the Bills. Hurt or not hurt? Not hurt. Hurt, whatever. It's gonna be an interesting matchup because Green Bay can't. run and the last time we played a team that couldn't run they ran on us. They ran on us. So it'll be interesting to see like Green Bay plays these close games and loses because they can't run. So at the end of the game they can't run out the clock. They keep throwing the ball, throwing the ball. You can't do that all game, you just can't. Jake: And Ann Rogers I think has the most sacks in the league. I think he's like 20. Justin: He's gotten sacked a lot over the years. like he tends to hold on to move around a lot. He's like Rafflesburger except Rafflesburger is like playing Nintendo football and he just knocks guys off of him. He's like duh, boosh, divide. And Rogers is I think maybe quicker and he throws really good off the run. He's got a rocket arm. He has a very good arm. And he's got a couple of... decent receivers. I mean, Driver was hurt last week. I wonder if he'll be back on the field, but Greg Jennings is really good. Yep. That'll probably be the Reavis matchup. Jennings and Reavis. I think they're gonna flip it again. They're just gonna keep Jake: flip-flopping. No, I think they'll put the number one guy in Camardia until Reavis proves that he can handle the number one guy. Well then Justin: there's not really a guy to put Reavis on because James Jones isn't that good. So no one to go to his island? Well that's the thing, it's like, are they going to match up or are they just going to say, Revas, you stay on the left, Crow, you stay on the right, and whoever goes there, you're covered. Jake: I don't like that because I think as a DB you learn tendencies and you want to play a guy that you've been watching all week, watch their tendencies. So you put your best guy on the best guy because... You're telling him to pay attention to him, watch the tape, make sure you know how this guy plays. And that's what Davis does very well. He's very good at studying. Justin: Well then I feel like he's gonna cover Greg Jennings. Okay. I might be wrong, whatever. Except for if he's not playing 100%. Well, he says he's 100%. Jake: He can say he's 100%, but that's like, you know. There's no way to prove that except if he was getting burned. Justin: If he says to coach, hey coach I'm 100% and he's watching him practice and he looks 100%,
02 Justin: why wouldn't you put him on the best guy? Jake: Because I don't know if he's back to being 100% from last year or is he just 100% I don't know. Oh we will see. I think Carmartie's playing really good. Put him on the best guy. Let's re-vis cover anybody else. Well what will also be fun is watching the Packer defense, their linebacker. Justin: are pretty decent. Clay Matthews, pretty good player. Very good. But he was hurt two weeks, so he's still kind of... He's made his way. He played last week. He's fine. It'll be interesting to watch him. He played with Sanchez at USC. They were teammates. And Rex was already said that, you know, he's always kind of smack talked a little bit. Jake: I don't really like doing before games. you know, they'll probably put Matthews against Damon Woody and he likes that match up. He said there's no way they put him up against DeBrick because we know how, you know, DeBrick shuts you down like because he shut down Jared Allen. Justin: So everyone shutting down Jared Allen. That is sort of true. So he's he got his money and like stopped playing harder. Jake: Well, no, he got his money a couple years ago. Well, he didn't play very well the last couple of weeks. No, yes. And for some reason that their defense has not shown up as much as. Justin: Should have been better. I don't know. Charles Woodson who's also always dangerous You know, you can always a lot of sneak in there. He's dangerous He strips the ball a lot He forces turnovers so that he stops the like he gets up in there in the run and like tries to strip the ball from Jake: He was also the rookie. I mean the defensive player of the year last year bullshit And, uh, a head of Revus, who was the best player, probably, one of the best players in the NFL last year, don't know how that was. Justin: That was just bullshit. It was bullshit. So that's a little matchup going on. Yeah, I mean, it's too bad they don't get to play against each other. So, on defense. So here's, we're gonna start a new segment. You start a new segment every week, and then it's done. Yeah. This is the new segment of the week. This is because we didn't play last week, so we're filling time. Yeah, we're filling time. No, we filled 35 minutes for the time. Oh, let's keep going. People like our voice. Jake: Uh... Oh, I hope not. Uh, defense? Keys to the Castle. Keys to the Castle. Every week. I'm going to steal the Keys to the Castle. Every week, we're going to do a new segment called Keys to the Castle. Gone. For the, uh, I used to write this in a blog post, but I don't blog anymore for the Jet Kingdom. We just talk, and I forget about it. People like to talk, and not so much to blogging. So Keys to the Castle, which is every week, we're going to pick defensive offense. You can pick one up, pick the other. And I want you to give me the keys to winning this. game and what you need to do and how the personnel break down. Okay, so I can pick offense or defense. For this week you can pick offense or defense. What about next week? Next week you can pick whatever you want. Because I'm springing this on me. This is awesome. Whatever, I'm that good. Justin: Well, do you want me to go first or do you want me to go first? Alright, I will take... I'm gonna take... I'm gonna take... I'm gonna take... I'm gonna take our defense. Okay. Alright. So the keys to the castle for our defense are twofold. Prevent Aaron Rodgers from running all over the place. So with the crazy blitz schemes, when we're coming full boat from the left,
01 Justin: don't let them flush out to the right and make a 50 yard throw with the flick of the wrist down the field. Always have somebody sort of on the backside to prevent him from. Moving around he runs a lot. He runs a lot. He moves around. He's very quick. He's very fast Don't let him do that and then the other key is don't let them run the ball They can't run just like Denver. So don't run into the meta. Yeah, don't look don't let up on that Like don't take it for granted that that they aren't gonna run the ball. They're gonna try Just if you shut it down early They won't go back to it and then they're one-dimensional and then we can tee off on them Jake: So those are my keys my keys on the offensive side Clearly clearly not get not having mistakes So against Denver and against many teams we watched in the Miami game in the winging game They were there were throws that the Aaron throws that again they happen in most sports fans Don't if you're from the other team, you don't remember them But as a jet fan and I watched them, I'm like, oh my god, he almost got picked off and run back for touchdown. The guy just dropped it because he's a DB, not a receiver. So the key is to play smart ball. Stay away from Woodson. Woodson's a... he's a... he is a ball hawk. He's getting older. He can still pick him and run it back. So I think the key is really the run game, this game. It is... run it up their ass. I don't think that they can stop our run. I think we have one of the best offensive lines. I think we can between Benjamin Thompson and Sean Green, I think we could run it up their ass. Score, play D, and then go back and running up their ass. I don't think we need to do much more than that. This is like I want to see the games we played last year towards the end of the season when we were, or actually yeah towards the end of the season, like where it's really just ground and pound. Yes, you can take the shot once or twice. But this is a game that we want to control the clock and keep the ball away from him and whip it in and around. We've been giving up the pass plays this year. So I say, keep the ball, ball control, timing, keep the ball. You know, timing possession is huge. And also I don't want to see us put in these 3rd down situations, which was like 39, 38, 11. A lot of that was happening in the Denver game and in the previous games. It gives us an easy slope. You start running the ball a couple times, then you'll get to the third and three, and then you can make a quick pass. So those are my keys. No turnovers, one turnover at least. You can do one turnover. One turnover at most. Run the ball, keep the ball in time position, and don't give yourself long third downs. Justin: Why don't we throw a score on this puppy? All right, let's do it. So. I have the Jax winning. Okay. What's the spread? Jake: Five and a half. Justin: Spreads five and a half? Yep. Do you think we'll cover? Yeah. 28-17. I have 28-20. 6-1. We went 6-1. I was looking at that. If we go 6-1, we're going 12-4. You went down the rest of the season? I did. I did it yesterday. Jake: Yeah, yeah, how'd it come out? 12-4. 12-4. This is a tough game. I think the Packers, again, they're not a desperate team because they're in a division that's kind of up and down.
06 Jake: They need to put some wins together. They've been losing too much. They're hurt though. Yeah. They're injured. Justin: This is all the reasons why we should destroy them. That is a crappy division. It is horrible. The Bears are the weakest 4-3 team I've ever seen. Jake: And with that said... That's it for this week's episode of Jet Kingdom podcast. Justin: And so abruptly. Jake: Follow us at Jet Kingdom dot com, which is where all the stuff is. All of our posts and our blogs. We're going back years.
