09 Justin: The best place to be is when expectations are high. Get used to it. It's always going to be that way. Jake: Welcome to the Jet King podcast. Just as always, this side of the digital desk, digital aisle, you look so frustrated every time I say that. It's Jake, and joining me today for the 87th time? Holy. 88th? Wow. I did it right. That's even more than 87th. That's a shitload of times. That's a crapload of crap ton. This is explicit. It says explicit. Crap ton. Fuck. That's crazy. I want to say fuck a lot today. Of the Jet Game Podcast and joining me is Justin! Justin! How you doing? How you doing buddy? Justin: I'm tired. Tired of losing? Tired of this, tired of this losing. I feel like, I feel like I played in that game. That was a brutal game. Jake: Alright, we got a big agenda today. We're going to talk about the backers game. Go over it. It's a little strange because it's been a while since we've talked about a... a loss. We have a fool to mention. We have, we'll be talking about our fools and I think we have a little bit of a debate about what went on in that game. We do have a debate. And we'll talk about injuries and other key moves, some other kingdom stuff. We'll see who did well and who didn't do well and the jet kingdom pick them and then we'll make our throne picks. for the week. Justin: We can just assume by the opening that since you didn't really brag about the pick-em that you didn't do as-well as I did. Jake: That is probably very, very true. Speaking of things and teams that didn't do well, our team, the New York Jets, played a goose egg. They did. The New Meadowland Stadium won on Sunday. Justin: They have them score zero points. They haven't scored a point in two weeks. Wow, that's a bad stat. Well, yeah, I guess we were off on the one we didn't. That's the Jess getting into a car crash. That is. Alright, so let's talk about the game. Good tailgate. Pretty decent, good tailgate. Alright, so that's the component. You know what, let me... So usually, I'll start this game off by saying... This game? You're gonna play a game now? Well, not either. start off the game review by saying I was there you were there yes you were in your normal seats which are in the 200 levels yes I was not with you usually I Jake: sit with you that's the problem that was certainly the problem usually we sit Justin: together yeah your seats and one seat apart usually I was in someone else's seats and I got it I got to say The 100 level Well, you're gonna piss off a lot of people right now. I'm gonna piss off a lot of people the 100 level Unless you're I guess like at the 50 not good really no, I haven't sat down there yet
03 Justin: It's not good. I was on like the goal line appalled, so I was like between the goal line and the five, right? First off when the actions down the other end of the field you may as well just just not even be there. You may as well just watch the screen. Because it's just you can't see a thing. Everyone's standing, I'm kinda short, I can't see over them. There's not enough like angle. Oh really? Yeah. It was not, it was like not fun. It was just not fun to sit in those seats. And if offered them again, I'm not gonna take them. Really? Yeah, I'd rather sit at home and watch the game at home. Wow, I couldn't see I Was really annoyed. I was like these are expensive seats. Yes cells were like 7500 for those seats Yeah each and the tickets were like 125 So not worth it. Can't see so for $5 less you can sit in my seats I'd rather sit at home. Jake: And I'd rather buy an awesome TV. I'd rather not have gone to that game at all. Oh, that's true too. Well, I'll tell you, this is a good luck charm because the last two times I've been watching games with them, I have. I have. I I have a a a a a a a a a a a a a a C And this time the package didn't get destroyed. They didn't destroy us. This was probably one of the most boring games on the planet. And I think, and again, it was a really boring game. It was 9-0. Justin: It was really 6-9 whatever. They scored at the end. Jake: Two whole quarters of nothing. Nothing. Second and third quarter of zero. And really I thought it was a game that had some mistakes in it. we're not just Three things I think went wrong this game. I'm sure you agree with one of them and you disagree with two of them. Go ahead. One, I thought a couple play calls. I just didn't agree with it all that they were just really bad and too much trying to show how smart you are. Don't outsmart the people when you're just a team who runs the ball well. Two, bad, bad use of your of your recall of your uh of your reviews of reviewing the Replays. Replays. Really bad use of replays. We've talked about this before. Talk about it again. The third was just dropped balls and dropped balls and dropped balls. Horrible, horrible dropped balls. I would say our defense did a good job, right? Packers didn't score a touchdown. That's a good game. In fact, if you told me Packers aren't going to score a touchdown, and have three field goals, I'm like, we can win the game. Because we can have one touchdown and one field goal, we can win by one point. So why didn't we win the game, Justin? Justin: bad play just by everybody the The players didn't play good. I wish that I could find stats on drops I don't I don't see I'm sure that there's some website that can find me drop Jake: Hottrey had huge drops huge drops like not a lot of game-changing drops like drops that Justin: are in your own territory trying to drive on third down, dropping first down catches,
07 Justin: dropping huge chunks of yards, just San Antonio home dropping what would have been a touchdown on that crossing play on third down. So that's a third down play. It's like third and seven or whatever Do you not get the first down which would keep the drive alive, but really he would have scored There was no one in front of him He was in front of the guy who was covering him man And there is no one on the backside of the field that would have been a 50 yard touchdown Yeah, I mean stats change immensely and the flow of the game changes if If some of these catches were made and it was like are you serious? I mean Kottry is gonna drop balls. I mean and homes even on the first driver of the of the game for us he dropped What would have been a first down catch so it started early and it never stopped. I was really upset about it I mean Sanchez did not have the greatest game his two interceptions were both questionable like they were both like tweeners where I think the first one was Kottree caught it but it got taken away by the defensive player and the second one was Keller sort of caught it and Woodson took it away. I know Rex challenged the first one, lost, and then didn't have any left for the second one. Yeah he challenged he challenged twice in the first half which is Jake: Yeah, I didn't understand the challenge. Let's go to this thing. There's two things that really bugged me about this game. One was there's two plays and two challenges that bugged me. If you challenge something and lose in the first half, hold on kids. If you're losing by... It's the same thing we talked about with the Cowboys last week. Why are you challenging in the first half on a play that doesn't matter? That's not a game changer. wait to challenge things that matter. Justin: The first one was, the second one was. The second one didn't matter. It didn't matter. We were punting anyway. He even said it. He said, he said they didn't make the first. It was a third and whatever it was, 18 or something. Yep. And it was like a 15 yard catch that turned into an interception. Now I get, he didn't want... the Packers to get the ball at the 35. He wanted to punt and pin them down inside the 10. I get it. But in reality he didn't need to challenge there because the Packers were getting the ball. So he like tried to save 25 yards. Right. The first one. And don't do that because then there was another time. There was another time there. They literally came back and bit him in the ass because of the time. But I don't know if it did because... If they didn't overturn that first one, they certainly weren't overturning the Keller one. Because the Keller one looked like it actually was an interception. The Khatri one, to me, looked like it wasn't. The first one that he challenged was on a... They had some good drives that were killed by these plays, these interceptions and a fumble. We had three turnovers that Brad Smith fumbled, which to me in the stadium
02 Justin: it didn't look like a fumble. It just didn't. But I guess, I don't know, that guy went under the booth and then he said. Snored some cocaine out of there and came out and went, yeah! And even the interception, he got that wrong. Like, I saw it later and people were like, this guy didn't call this right. Like, it wasn't an interception. It was, they both had the ball on the ground. Well, and Keller went down with it. Well, not Keller. the other one he didn't really ever have it right that one I feel like that was really an interception but the country one did not feel like an interception now when fell the challenge was was he was he would have been correct but the challenge wasn't worth doing because they would have still pumped it. So really what he wanted to do was be able to punt there and not turn the ball over on the 37. He wanted to pin him inside a 10 since it was a field position game at that point. And really the whole game was about field position and their punter played better than our punter. Jake: So let's stop there. I have a problem with the challenges. I think as a head coach, it should be the rule in the book. Don't use both challenges in the first game. Especially in a close game. In a close game where your defense is playing well. Yeah, it was three nothing. I mean, you don't need to challenge that. Or if you're going to use both in the first, it better be the second one you use better be on a touchdown. Better be, you better be getting points or points taking away from you. Justin: The second one better be because you already won the first one and you know you're going to win this one so you know you're going to get a third one. Exactly. You know, you already lost the first one, you can't get a third one. Jake: So let us talk about the plays. So there's two plays that bug me and they just depose each other. One is the fake punt, right, where he didn't get it and he literally had to run 30 something yards. And he'd do that where I think he picked the ball, it was on my side of the field, he got the ball to go back to the punt at around the 5. Right? So if he'd been tackled right there, they would have been set up at the 5 to score a touchdown. So it's a really risky play. We've done it a couple times, we did it Miami twice. It was not as deep as that. It was really deep. So here's the thing, if you're going to have the fucking balls to call that play... He didn't call it. That Weatherford did it. He did it on his own. He gave him the option to do it. No, he did that on his own. Okay. Fine, then I'm no longer mad about it. Then I'm mad about the second one. Why are you not going in on fourth and one when we need to keep the drive going? When you're seeing this battle that's like, you know, field position, field position. Justin: I don't know which player you're talking about. Jake: I don't know which one it was, but I think we were at the R44, and it was fourth and one, and all we need is a yard to get there and to keep the drive going. you Again, it's a battlefield. It would be at the 44, so it's not like you're doing it at your own 20. I'm like, why, and I was screaming at the top of my lungs, in the playoffs in San Diego, you're willing to bet the game on a fourth and one play.
00 Jake: in the playoffs. But in this game, you're not willing to say, my guys stack up bigger than your guys, my running backs are bigger than your running backs, and we're gonna pound it into your ass. Maybe that doesn't sound right. But, and we're gonna get the first down. Like, I just don't get it while you're not using a little bit of the... bravado of we can do this. We have one of the best offensive lines. We have great runners. Let's pound it through and get the first down and continue the drive. We're having problems sustaining drives so when you get the chance, when you have that fourth and one, go for it. Especially when you're not doing anything else. Again if it's a tight game it's... 14 whatever and you're up by 21 points. Yeah, we don't care about it But when it's so like that drive could have resulted in something that could have kept the game alive So that's like that just that bugs me. It just bugs me It's like if you have the balls in the playoffs have them have them always don't just give it at least Bell a check for whatever his whatever his faults are He always does it he'll and he wins them and loses them, but he doesn't lose the game, right? Well, I guess in the Indianapolis one he was so I did well Justin: I didn't have as much of a problem with the coaching as you did in this game I feel like people had a big problem with Schottenheimer people had a big problem with racks I feel like the players lost this game. I feel like there were plays that couldn't could have and should have been made that were not that would have changed the way that the coaches called the game and plays that you know if they were made you wouldn't have seen Sanchez throw 38 times like just drops you would have seen more running because if you're in if you're third and eight third and nine you got to throw the ball. If you're gonna throw for a first down, but the guy drops it Okay, you know there's nothing that the coaches could do differently there The one thing I can recall that that did me a little bit was there were times that the Jets had like third and fives where Last year on third and five they would run the ball and maybe pick up four. And then they'd go, you know, they would say, we're in two down territory territory, it's third and five five, we're gonna run the ball twice and get five yards. And then it's that. Cause we can run. Particularly in the last drive where it was third and five. Sanchez got sacked to glared, I know we were at our own 25 and we had to go the length of the field But I wanted a running play there on third and five Run it because you know, you're going for it on fourth. So Run it right for three or four and then run it again Like he's not good enough yet in a windy and it was windy. They're now gonna actually it's one of this Jake: stats that came out, they're actually gonna now practice in the Meadowlands because they don't know where the wind patterns are. Which to me is globally stupid. Why are you doing that now in the middle of the season? Justin: Yeah, I feel like they should have been doing that all year. But anyway, I fall on the side where I think there were good things that come out of this game.
06 Justin: The defense played really well against a really good quarterback and made him look Well, nothing. Below average. Yeah, he had a 59 reading or something. A really bad game. You know, Reavis looked healthy out there. Yep. We're going to need him. We're going to. And I think, you know, there's some good things from that side of the ball. Special teams did not play great. Nope. uh mystic field goal which changes the complexion of the game bad call by the punter trying to do that on fourth and 18. Did he say why? He did he say why he did it yeah well he didn't he said he he knew he he didn't realize that it was fourth and 18. Now if you saw he did gain about 15 yards yeah so if it was fourth and eight he had it right so he said he had it he knew He saw in the last punt what they were doing and they were crashing the edge and he could get the he just didn't realize that It was fourth and 18, which is just so brain dead Yeah that you have to understand that it's fourth and 18 and you're on your own 20. Yeah, he made 17 yards Yeah, so, you know, he must have thought it was like fourth and eight or something. Anyway that was on that was on him. Who's your fool of the game? Jericho Kottree. Yeah definitely. He has to make those catches. I'm Jake: gonna give you I'm work both we're danging up. He's gotta make catches. I Justin: was our most reliable like pass catcher and he's he's he missed a bunch of open catches. Some were tough, but some were not, where it's like, come on, Kottry, you're, come on. Jake: Again, I don't mind one a game, or, you know, a drop or two a game, but that was no good. No good. Alrighty, so if you're full of games, Kottry, mine is Kottry slash head coach. Wow. Yeah, I just, there's something about, there's something about having the balls, and you know, it does come down to him, and a team goes in, and your defense, your defense. allows to keep them to nine points. The Baltimore Ravens would be happy if they could keep any team. Oh wait, they beat us because they kept us to nine points. You should be able to win any game. Justin: You keep the other team to nine points. You know what I want now? What? Coming out of this game? I do not want to win the division. I don't want a bite. I don't want to bite. You don't want to, oh, because they just did so poorly after the bite. And they did so poorly in week one. I think they overthink things. . when they have too much time to think about it. Or don't think things. It didn't look like they overthink this. No, they did. Jake: It just looked like the gameplay was kind of like, eh, what do you want to do? Justin: They overthought it. There were some trick plays in there that didn't work. If you noticed, LT was going to throw one. There was a reverse thing that went for negative yards. Jake: So let's lock them in. Let's put in more crap. No, it's don't. Oh, I'm saying you have more time. That's what the theory is. Justin: Don't give them the time because they'll think themselves. They'll all think themselves. Jake: Well, so kicking on to that, that actually brings us to the standings because for the
03 Jake: first time ever, we're out of first place in AFC East. Justin: Well, it can't be the first time ever. Jake: Well, this year, I mean... We were all in one. Well, all in one, but then we took it, right? Because we beat the Patriots and then we kept it the whole time. Well, then we beat when we beat... Sorry, when we beat Miami, we took it. But now it's 6... Pretty much what you just said was completely wrong. Patriot? Well, other than we're not in first place anymore. Oh, that's it. Patriots are 6 and 1, we're 5 and 2, Dolphins are 4 and 3. and really on our heels, we're one game away, and Bills are catching up with everybody with 0 and 7. They're playing out of their minds right now. Justin: So they really should have won. I felt bad for the Bills. Jake: They've had a couple of those games that they should have won their last two games. Should have would have could have. Should have would have could have games. All right, let's talk about any injury and key moves that came out of this game. Justin: I don't think there were any injuries in this game. Nope didn a little bit I did notice how green on the other side of that field Pick number 95 on Green Bay and mad we didn't act we didn't run very well fucking how green out there I don't know why we let this guy go Jake: So let's talk about other There are two big news items that came out, both semi-effecting the AFC East. One was Moss. It doesn't really affect the... You were so wrong. I will admit, I was dead wrong. Eat that crow. I was gobble gobble gobble. I was dead wrong wrong. I could have sworn that Justin: I'm on earth, do you lose a guy? How do I get better? I'm the best, yada yada yada. I never said that. Yeah you meant it though. Okay then. Jake: No he, the Patriots, the Patriots do it again. They get rid of somebody and they get better. They get rid of 16 tech down the year. And they get a 3rd round pick out of it. And they get their round pick which turns into, you know, whatever gold because he wasn't worth it. He was worth nothing because they dropped it. Absolutely nothing. And then of course Tennessee picks him up. Justin: So I guess the Randy Moss experiment is not over. No. Well I think it's a good move for Tennessee. They need someone to get that 8th and 9th guy out of the box because Chris Johnson is just... But is it? Jake: That's the game plan. It's like... let's stop him. But is at this point that if the team like the Vikings who definitely that too, if they drop them why is that gonna work anymore for Tennessee? Because Tennessee as a head coach that has been there for 16 years Justin: has the respect of every player on the team and can actually control the locker room whereas Chile and Minnesota already had his issues controlling his locker room with the F.A.R.V.E. It's like he has no control and Tennessee is what are they five and three and Minnesota's Moss is a front-runner if he's goes to a team that he thinks has a chance to win He will and if he respects the head coach he will play better than likes the people
01 Jake: Oh, yeah, he's got a situation and gets a hand jibber every day. He probably will So, whatever, he's off. But more interesting, I guess, for us, because we might actually see him at the end of the season, I guess, is Sean Merriman, who was put on short-term IR. It was some weird, injured list. If you put him on a short injured reserve list, not a year ender. Justin: It was like a reserve injured reserve. Jake: When he comes back, he basically, he's no longer on your team. Yeah, you have to cut him. You have to cut him. So, Sean Merriman was cut, in essence, from San Diego Chargers. They got to keep them, cut them, keep them, and let them go. Justin: Right. Jake: And he was out there as a free agent. Justin: The bills snagged them. The bills snagged them up. Which means that, you know, they were... Because the bills are number one on the waiver list, because they haven't won. Which means they clearly wanted them, obviously. Yeah, I don't know what contractually that means, what that means for how long. We have no idea. Yeah, no idea. But you know what? He's not really that good anymore. He's not a good but I can't see it being a bad thing for the bills I mean, hey, whatever you get a guy who could potentially Stack some quarterbacks I guess Jake: and then I already talked about the standings so we have You know, we're not we're no longer. We're no longer the top dog in the AFC East, which It's kind of interesting It still feels like it always happens this way. It happened last year too. I think we started off really strong and then we kind of fumble and then fumble for the middle of the season and then towards the end have to win a bunch. We obviously already, you know, five and two isn't a bad place to be, right? I think that's, as a Jett fan, you've heard a lot of negativity and this is where I kind of came to around Tuesday afternoon, I think, when I kind of got over this game. Five and two isn't a bad place to be. It's a good place to be. No, you sign up for that in the beginning of the year. Justin: Yeah, if someone says you'll be 5 and 2 after the Game of the Packer game, you go, yes, I'll take it. You'll be 5 and 2 and your next two games are against Detroit and Cleveland. You'll sign up, right? Jake: So, you just want to get right into the pick-em. Justin: Let's do it. I wouldn't mind talking about how I beat you last week in the pick-em. You did? But you know what? What? I'm the 500 baby. Good for you. You are 56 and 56. I am 60 and 52. I am... four games ahead of you. I'm digging myself out of the hole. Digging myself out. Slowly Jake: but surely. Keep digging. Keep digging. So last week DB factor or douchebag factor. Douchebag factor. One the week with nine. You had eight. I had seven. Overall Mike is winning 64-48. You're at 60-52 and I'm at a good old 56-56 which is a perfect. good for me. Not very good. No, it really sucks. You suck. So why don't we do, let's talk about our throne picks. Let's do our decking to pick them. This is where we pick every game with the spread. You're gonna leave us off. We're gonna leave out the AFC East games just in case you're listening. Always fun to try and do that. Justin: This week there's a challenge here if you looked at the way that the games Jake: are listed. And then then we're gonna pick the AFC East games. That's right. And with scores then we call that. Let's start it off.
01 Jake: So hit it, get it, and go with it. Justin: All right, Atlanta home coming off their bye week against the red hot Tampa Bay Bucks. They're 5-2. Josh Freeman looks like the real deal. He just wins games. Jake: Why is Tampa Bay so deep? in the crap on this why the why is the atlanta an 8.5 Atlanta plays really well at home Justin: and this is a division game and it's for the division crown i guess they're both five and two yeah uh i don't know why there's this is an eight and a half point spread so i'm just take the points because Tampa plays games close. Yeah. I'm going with Tampa next up. All right next up. We're gonna skip ahead to Minnesota less moss hosting Arizona coming off of a bad loss to Tampa and I'm gonna take the points here to Minnesota's favored by nine. So I'm gonna I mean they don't have any receivers moss is gone Harvens hurt I don't know how they're gonna even score. I know Arizona's not good, but I'm gonna take the nine. I'll take Arizona Jake: I'll take the nine too. I'll take the nine Justin: Take the nine all the time. All right, New Orleans going on the road to the lowly Carolina Panthers Big win last week big win for New Orleans at home on Halloween. Is there any doubt that they're gonna win at home on Halloween night? When they were going for the Guinness Book of World Records for most people in a costume? It's New Orleans, it's Halloween, it's night. There were strippers. Of course. New Orleans giving six and a half to Carolina. New Orleans on the road. I'm gonna pick New Orleans. I think they're back. Jake: Yeah, I'm gonna pick New Orleans. I don't know if Bush is back, but I think he's getting close. Justin: I think New Orleans is back. Jake: against they move the ball really bad yeah they're they can move the ball against Pittsburgh they're gonna build them with the ball against Caroline I don't care where they play they could play that in my office and they wouldn't Justin: fit in your office they wouldn't all right San Diego goes on the road where they don't fare so well against Houston who has a short week coming off of a loss to Indy don't know why Houston games in Houston Houston is actually getting points. They're getting two and a half in home. A home dog. Home dog with a winning record? Home dog with a winning record. Against a team with a losing record? Not playing very well recently. Wait. San Diego doesn't play well on the road. I'm picking the home dog. Jake: I'm taking Houston. This one is one of those ones. And again, there's a couple as we were picking. I feel like Andre Johnson got hurt. I don't know why it is. Yeah, Home Dog again. They didn't look very good against Indy, but Indy makes teams look bad all the time. Justin: San Diego plays bad on the road. They're playing bad all together. I don't get it, but okay, I'll take Houston. Alright. The Giants considered the best team in the NFC. I still don't think they are. Well, they're off a bye, so we'll see. Coming off of a bye. Going to Seattle. Seattle plays very good at home. Seattle getting six and a half at home. I'm picking Seattle. Yeah, I think Seattle cuz I think the Giants could win this game
06 Jake: But if they do it's not gonna be a blowout Justin: I don't really like this so far because we've picked every game the same. Sorry, dude I don't like it. Yes, I'm gonna win like four games next week. All right Oakland the juggernaut change your picks. No Oakland scored like a hundred points in the last two weeks their home Taking on their division rival Kansas City Chiefs Oakland giving two and a half getting some respect. I'm gonna pick the Chiefs on the road here Jake: Sorry to say buddy me too. I think division rival Chiefs have been playing off and on but I don't think open Keep the feeling we're picking every game the same Justin: going. Got three more. Philly's home. They're taking on Indy coming off the Monday night win. Yeah, Michael Vick back. Michael Vick is back. Philly's giving three. Who let the dogs out? I'm picking the Colts. Yeah. They're on that roll now. Yeah, they're in the middle part of the season. It doesn't even matter that half their... Peyton Manning will throw me a touchdown pass. He could. He could. Really? It would hurt you though. The 5'5 white guy out there. I'm just saying. It's on a good day. Alright, on a good day. 5'5, 350. Green Bay home. Perfect sphere. Green Bay's home to Dallas. uh... dallas stinks they just stink this is the uh... this is the sunday night game i guess Jake: this is the game that nbc didn't want to have happened Justin: no they didn't want dallas to stink like this and we're gonna have to watch dallas every frickin week moving forward i mean they're always on i know it doesn't matter for you but for me they're always on unless it's this game Which, but I'll watch this game cause I'll watch it because it's the Sunday night, but whatever. Alright, Green Bay is home, they're given eight, I'm picking the Packers, they're gonna kill Dallas. Jake: Alright, I'll take Dallas. You know why? Why? It's eight points. They scored nine last week. We have a great defense. Dallas? Dallas stinks! Dallas has the ability to have a good defense. They have the... players to have the defense. They don't have a good defense. They have the players to have a good defense. That's just so dumb. I'm telling you eight points. That's why. For two I picked the pack. Oh well that's alright. There's my one over here. If it was eleven I would take it. Alright. Justin: Monday night. Can I side bet on that? Sure. Alrighty. I'll tease it up. Pittsburgh on the road. Is this a good game? Kind of. This is a good game. Good division rival. Although you know Cincinnati not so great. Carson. Palmer stinks Pittsburgh on the road in Cincy giving four and a half got to take Pittsburgh because Palmer's gonna throw like four picks in this game because Jake: Pittsburgh won last week they lost to New Orleans on the roads is good since he stinks here's here's why I'm picking Cincy because tell me points get first of all I want the points straight up so I you know Give me the points. Second of all, there are two showboats on that team that love to put up a big show on
02 Jake: a Monday night. The names are T.O. and Ocho Cinco. Guess what? Their quarterback stinks. They'll do reverses to them. Justin: The promo's gonna have two picks. Jake: They'll do reverses to them. No they won't. A division rival game, I think Pittsburgh is a little bit reeling from that. Again, I think Pittsburgh could win, but it might be 21-20 or 21-19 and I'll take the points for that. Alright, we have two changes. Now let's go for our... Let's move on. Let's Justin: go to the throne picks. Alrighty, so I will kick us off with the New England game going to Cleveland. Belichick vs. Manjini, always fun. Right now, I actually have this. as a Cleveland win. Yeah, don't pickle your heart or anything. I really feel like Mangini and Rob Ryan, Rex's brother, is going to... They're gonna figure out a way to beat New England at home. And it's gonna be one of those out of nowhere type of things like New England's rolling right now. And I feel like they're gonna win 17-16. Jake: Wow, yeah, I don't know. Yeah, no Cleveland's not gonna win. No one's gonna win 31-20 Justin: I just that mean does that mean that we differ in our actual like pick Jack King of the world you pick in the pick like to Cleveland So if three two three So the next game is... this is a good game. Miami plays good on the road. What time is this game? I don't know, but it's a good game. Miami's on the road in Baltimore. Jake: It's at 1 o'clock. Justin: This is... what was that? Jake: It's at 1 o'clock, so I'll have to watch my game and this game at the same time. It just piss me off. You shouldn't have to do that. Well, I'll be watching on the big screen and on the small screen. screens will be watching the other one. That's because the Hun is a Thins fan. Justin: That's correct. Miami on the road in Baltimore. Miami plays really good on the road. Baltimore is coming off of there by, I believe. I'm going to pick Baltimore 16-13. Baltimore 16-13. Jake: Yeah, I'll pick Baltimore 28-20. Baltimore's a good team. They're gonna stick it in there. Justin: So you're picking Baltimore in the pick-em. I'm picking Miami in the pick-em. Jake: In the pick-em I am- Because the spread, Baltimore is giving five and a half. In the pick-em, and if I were actually paying attention to these two things connected, I pick Miami. So I should probably make your score different. Justin: 2328. Wow. Loved how you just did that on the fly. I love calling you out. Alright, next is... Chicago coming off there by going to Buffalo. This is the game. This is the game they win. Yeah, this is great. This is the game they win. Jake: Buffalo's gonna win 24-17. 2017, Buffalo wins. Take the points, take it home.
02 Jake: Buffalo's gonna win this game. 0-7, they'll go 1-7. Justin: Think you're right. All righty, and then the game of the century Jesus Christ the game of and I want today I want your quarterbacks. I want your key Stafford versus Sanchez the Jets head to Detroit To take on the Lions the Lions the talented Lions as I called them last week. Thanks for that and they won they You know, they're tough. They have a good offense. They score a lot of points at home. They score like 37 points at home, on average, I think. Like, they score a lot of points at home. Jake: So it'll be a tough challenge for our defense. But they've won two games. Justin: They still have only won two games, but they have a lot of talent, a lot of first-round draft picks, Stafford's back. You know, you got Johnson out there. You got Jovid Best. You got Adonika Tzu. It's a tough team, but I think the Jets pull it out. Jake: Yeah, of course you do. Justin: 29-21, the key first down on offense. This is your key to the castle. Key to the castle. The Jets must run the ball effectively on first down and get us into second and fourth type of situations. Jake: What's interesting is my key to the castle last week was ... to make sure we weren't in these crappy third down positions which we got into, which we couldn't get out of, which we had done a punting a lot. Because it dropped balls. Justin: We dropped a lot of shit on third down. Jake: I don't expect this team to lose two games in a row. Me neither. How's that? So if anything else, my key to the castle is don't lose two games in the world. That's bullshit. That's a cop-out. We got two tough games here because these are our- That's a cop-out. Pick a real key. If you looked at the beginning of the season and you looked at these two teams- These were wins. These were easy wins. Like, oh, why is it easy wins? Justin: They both have shit records. They're just better than that. They're better than that. This is a weird NFL season. Yeah. If you look at the odds for Super Bowl, no one's a clear favorite. There's like five or six teams that are seven to one, and the Jets are one of them. There's like the Colts, there's the Pats, there's the Jets, there's the Steelers, there's the Ravens, there's like the Giants. Those are like the seven to one. There's no like two to one, three to one. There's no team right now that is 7-0. I mean the Pats are 6-1. But there's no like there's no like Colts out there or Saints from last year out there. There's always a team out there that's like the 2-1, 3-1 at this point in the year. They're not out there. So it's a very odd... parodied season this year. Jake: It is. And I will say that, you know, we're going to get caught up in that parity season. We're going to hit teams that are, you know, that you hope to be in a season you thought we're going to get destroyed by them and we're going to beat the hell out of them. And in reverse, I think there's going to be teams that we think we're going to, we
01 Jake: think we should have beaten. and we're not going to. My key to the castle really is, I want, it's called balls. This is on road game, I think we actually play better on the road. I think we've played better in domes. I think Sanchez is a better dome player than he is a outdoor player. He's got to learn to play outdoors. Well I know but he's not. that's not, that's not good. And I think that he'll play better in a dome. I think this team is gonna be fired up. This is a real big thing for Rex. Let's take a team that was sort of, for all intents and purposes, arrogant, and say, okay kids, you got your ass kicked. Can you, can, I turn it around? Can you score some points and can you beat the hell out of this Detroit Lions? I don't think they're going to be able to score a lot. I think we have a better defense. Again, Green Bay Packers, people decimated by injuries, weren't able to score a touchdown. I think we'll keep them pretty low, so I'm calling this game 21-13, so I think they'll get one touchdown and two field goals. And I think we're going to start to score, and whether it's great big running plays or whatever, I think we can make it happen in the dome. Alrighty, so that's wrapping up the...
