00:09 Justin: The best place to be is when expectations are high. Get used to it. It's always going to be that way. Can't wait! Jake: Welcome to the Jet King! podcast on this running New York Jets podcast on the entire interwebs for Thursday September 29th 2011. My name is Jake and joining me I was gonna go somewhere with that and joining me for the where you going 120th time Oh my god. 120 times. That's a lot. Uh, is the co-host. For this week at least in the last hundred twenty nine hundred twenty times, but we'll see about next week Good buddy Justin Justin. I don't know right Getting older What that we have a big agenda today? I'm over it by the way did everybody I hope everybody downloaded our Monday episode That was called we're not doing a fucking we're not doing a Monday episode after we lose on Sunday. Oh Can't do it. That's it. That's the schedule people come to expect it now When we lose on Sunday, we don't like to do the podcast on Monday. When we win on Sunday, we can't wait to do that, motherfucker. I will say, people were tweeting because I was active on Twitter during the second half. I don't go near Twitter anymore during the games. I like it. I try not to. You got me roped in. You roped me in by calling me out. I was calling you out? But I don't like it. I just want to watch the game. I don't want to sit there and be like... typing with my thumbs, I want to watch the game. Yeah, me too. I want to watch the game. But there's these things called commercials. And they happen. They basically interrupt half the game. So I figured during this conversation. No, I don't want to join the conversation. I want nothing to do with the conversation. I was doing it generally when they're, if they're either losing badly or winning well, then it's fun. If it's close, I can't do it. I told you to shut up. Yeah, whatever didn't happen me and my 420 followers that ever know anyway, they all saying to me Well, they were joking at the end. They're like so guess no podcast on Monday. I'm like, yeah, no, no, no suck out Suck it. I'm tough to bitches. So now it's Thursday and I'm busy I'm over it. But we're gonna talk about that game talk about some The injuries and how you know what they're going into this week's game. We have a new segment called town crier New segment every week every fucking every this thing might be a day long So we're just put in a new segment news. Just throw it in there We do a fantasy kingdom segment talk last week and this week Stutter did do that which is where I bring in my Southern accent. We'll do our Jet Kingdom pick-up where we pick every game except the AFC East match-ups. Oh, I gotta open that.
03:01 Jake: And go over them with the spread. I gotta open that, okay. And we actually, as an ongoing game, that we're playing against other people. And then we'll do our throne picks where we do our AFC East match-ups where we give a little bit more insight than just win or lose. By the way, we're both doing just completely awful in the Jet Kingdom. Yes, I'm doing one less awful than you are yet last week No, yeah, we tied now. I caught up with you by one we tied. I looked at it Oh, I'm ahead of you by two games. Okay, but I thought you were headed by three. No, all right, we're tied So we'll get that let's do let's talk about the last week's game So all right, let's go we got to do well, you didn't put it in the agenda. Good job Didn't I put in a nice or fools fools? Oh shit play the game. All right, let's do that Mean I thought our fool was gonna be the same guy it is I'm so I'm not picking that guy. Okay. Well, you pick someone else I actually have a little thing on it I was thinking about it as I was watching the recap of the game today because I wanted to Try to get it out of my memory, but Mike. All right, you gotta go back to me watch it Cuz you gotta have something to say about it We knew that going into Oakland wasn't wasn't you know, cakewalk. And we knew that they have some weapons. They have a Jason Campbell, they have a McFadden, they have, you know, they have weapons. And they were able to exploit those weapons on us and we kind of got in our own way more than once. Yeah. Overall, I mean, I don't have the stats in front of me. I don't even care. Overall, my gut feel after rewatching, So my I was just pleasingly angry after losing. But my overall gut feel after was that actually wasn't a bad performance except for a few plays. Like we had some really nice scoring tries, we had some really nice runs, we had some really nice plays. Except for a few, we had some great returns. Like, except for a few plays, and maybe one or two bad, you know, sort of, calls on what to do. You know, sort of, when do you do this or not, which we can talk about. It wasn't actually that bad of a game. It wasn't like a just an- I couldn't disagree with you. I couldn't disagree with you anymore. Why? I thought we got- our asses beat physically. I felt like the Oakland Raiders decided that they were gonna beat up the Jets. Like punches in the face. And then they did. And the Jets took it. Like they fell down. They said, oh you punched me in the face. I felt like they physically beat us up. And that's why some of these... big plays happened. Like I felt like you know McFadden's long run, they beat us to the point, they beat us up. Some of the sacks that Sanchez took, the hits he took, they beat us up. He broke his fucking nose. He broke his fucking nose, exactly. Some of the that end-around play that should have been stopped for 10, 8, and a million miles goes for a touchdown the other way because they beat us up. I feel
06:02 Jake: like they really took it to us and beat us. the point of attack, which is where you really know who you are, right? Is my offensive line and my defensive line winning this game and we lost. And that's where I feel upset about it because we lost the physicality battle of that game. I agree on the defense. On the offense I went back and again I was walking at the plays. Sean Green was running okay. No, he didn't have a good game. with Danny and Tomlinson. had huge plays. They were in the passing game. Yeah, but I'm saying we had plays. There was nice moments on, I'm trying to look for the positives, there was nice moments in the game. If you were gonna say there's three sides of football, you know, offense, defense, special teams, two of them were fine. One of them sucked ass and that one just happened to allow them to take more points. You know, again This team is built on winning games by keeping the other team under 20 points and we go over. Whether it's they're at 17 and we're at 21, that's what this team was built to do. We weren't built to keep up in the 30s with the Patriots. We were built to keep the Patriots under 24 and we'll get 26. That's what we're built to do. The problem is that they got out to a 17-7 lead. from that 17-7 lead they then got beaten 27-7. Yeah. Which is just miserable. And that's what they beat the crap out of us. They imposed their will on us. I don't think Sean Green had a good game. I really don't. He never got it going. He got it going in the second quarter and then they stopped. He had 13 or 15 carries for 59 yards. That's under a average with a 15 yard long which means that 3.9 is even worse because take that one carry out of there and he ran for you know take away the yard take away McFadden's 70 yards I'm sure take away McFadden 70 and he still got a hundred yeah he ran for a buck 71 on 19 Green Ram for 59 on 15. McFadden's average is 9. He had that 70 long so take that one out. He's got 18 rutches for 100 yards. He's still over 5 a carry or over 4 a carry. You know if you want to have a worry, you want to bring your worry, worry handle. My worry is that we can't run the ball. This is... We can't stop the run. I feel like we could stop the run. Really? The guy who had 170 on us, he's gonna get to stop the run. I feel like McFadden is... if he's not the best he's in the top three. Good news is we're going up against a top five this week. Ray Rice is also a very good running back. Look, this is the most rushing yards that Rex Ryan's Jets defense has ever given up. And I guarantee damn to you that Ray Rice is not running the ball on us. Well, I can tell you that there's one, the one positive I'll get out of this game, right? We lost, we're two and one, we're going to Baltimore. more. We now have two of the toughest games, I think we're gonna have all,
09:02 Jake: the toughest two-game streak in a row, other than the ones who are back-to-back again, like within a four-week rush. You know, Ravens and Patriots. The one thing I like out of this is generally, I have a gut feel, no stats to back it up, generally... the Jets rebound well. Well here's... And they're... They do rebound well. And the defense will rebound. This is not our defense. That's not our defense. That is a fluke, that's a whatever. Our defense will rebound well. I'm looking at the statistics now and through three games, there's one team worse than the Jets. As a rushing defense the Jets are number 31 rushing in rushing defense. Yeah, they give up 136 yards a game I mean the Rams give up 174 so they're like way the hell out there Right at least we're at 136 and there's a bunch of teams stacked between like 120 and 130, right? So it's not 136, Rex Ryan defense. He's not having that. That's bullshit. It is bullshit. I mean, that is, that is. It's almost like the first year where we, where like people were scoring and you kept saying, wait till week five, we're gonna turn around week week five. I feel like this is, this part of this is coming from the CBA and the lockout and the off season stuff. Like. Thank you. If you look around the league, the whole defenses are getting destroyed. Even defenses who, again, if you told me a Bill Belichick defense would let the Buffalo Bills come back from a 21-point under and beat them, I would have said, you're fucking crazy. Bill Belichick puts together good defenses. They might not be the top defenses. But they are a good defense. It was the top defense, points per game-wise. I'm sure it is someone with a losing record. It is the Baltimore Ravens. Oh, fuck. They give up 13.3 points a game. Well, they also had a game against one person who just like, they, they, well, I guess they schooled. They schooled Pittsburgh. Yep. And last week they absolutely demolished St. Louis, was it? They play well we got they just killed somebody all right. Let's put this let's put this puppy to bed who they play Yeah, st. Louis. They just crack your fool. Oh, I'm not picking the guy who you're gonna pick I'm gonna pick them cuz you're gonna pick him. He's fucking you can be picked twice for all it could be picked twice Yeah, it's such a bad game. I'll let you do that. I'm going to pick I'm going to pick him because he deserves it, not just for this game, but for a season of being crappy so far. This is a Jets offensive line that has been one of the best in the league for the last four or five years. I know they were down mangled and that did make a big difference. Huge difference. But that right tackle spot? He's not doing it right now. He's getting beat. He's getting beat consistently. And they used to run the ball over the right side for picking up short yardage plays, because you'd have Brandon Moore and you'd pull the left guard around
12:05 Jake: and you'd be able to run over that right side. I don't really feel confident in that. I don't feel confident in his ability to protect Sanchez either. So... I'm gonna pick Wayne Hunter. I don't like what I'm seeing out of him thus far. Yeah, neither. Neither. Not good. The line is way too many sacks. And they're not... I'm out of time for Sanchez and we're not running the ball. We're... you know, I just have the stupid stats up. You pick your guy and then I'm gonna tell you where we rank. It's a fucking obvious I mean the guy gives up four penalties of 47 yards. He then fumbles of Kick return and gives them the ball which you know I know a lot of people say well that was a game turn that was the end of the game like meaning that was The thing that lost the game. We were down by seven at that point. Just watch the replay We're down by seven and we would have had the ball even if he just sat on it in the end zone at the 20 So yes, that was huge. Plus his penalties were big ones. They were like, driving penalties. The privately were brutal. They were like, you know, pass interference on a third and ten. There was a phantom one thrown in there, but... Yeah. I mean, those were brutal. Fine, I don't mind a phantom one, a game, but four penalties and... And it goes back to my point that we talked about before now I'm still up the theory and after watching the re-crack and watching the other two guys McKnight and Curly return curly didn't return he returned upon puns right but he did a good job at it and McKnight did a good job Returning the kickoff Fuck get kamarti out of there again. I think he has a great something And he's done some good, but I don't want him doing it. I don't think he has that ability. I think he's a big fucking lanky guy. He's a corner. I don't want him spending any energy doing anything else but just guarding the guy that he's put on. Have those other little young guys who have more burst, who have, you know, just... just stop with him back there. So I'm still saying it and I don't want him to get hurt. Although if you got he did get hurt. Not returning a gig. Not well I don't know when he got hurt. Not returning a gig. Did he get hurt? Yeah tackling somebody not returning a gig. Well he didn't do that very well either. That was the other thing I was watching some of the replays and some of those times when people were running up towards him like he couldn't tackle until it's like all the stuff I don't want to say. So yeah so Karmarti. You're the fool of the week. The Jets have the 8th from the worst in the league. So I guess that's 25th rank Rushing offense they rough for 82 yards a game. I mean last year I feel like they ran for like 140 yards game. They're running for 82 right now Yeah, that's the line is is a mess. So what what do you think? Is it time to? Throw in the other guy? I mean... No, I don't know what it is just yet. I mean maybe it's... Mangle is a huge game. Mangle, missing Mangle, but that's one game.
15:02 Jake: Well, it's one and a half. They arguably ran better in this game than they did in any other game. I feel like it's just another new guy, and anytime you add a new guy, there's... there's that added like, okay, there's a different guy in here. Also, um, you know, missing Hunter, um, or Turner, triple one more. I'm trying to turn, turn, turn off the season. Is he officially done for the season? So that's a big loss because, because, uh, in the past you would have all these Please wear... You'd hear number 75 is eligible 78 is eligible because neither of those guys were starting off into line They'd come in and line up as tight ends and you'd have like seven offensive linemen in the game and you'd run over people All right, they can't do that this year They have nobody to do that with there's no guy you know, number 62 is not reporting as eligible. It's not happening. So is it time to go to the streets or time just to... No, no, no. You've got one of the best offensive line coaches in the league. You don't go to the streets. There's nobody out there that's better than you're starting right tackle right now. There's nobody that you're gonna be able to bring in off the street and say, you're gonna start it right tackle. If anything, if this continues, to me, he's the weak link. If it continues, then maybe they tried Dukas out there, but he's not anything special at the moment either So I think to got Dukas is just it You know, he's just a physical beast. He just doesn't seem to get the game. Oh, it's early. Yeah for him They drafted him for his body not for his talent for his talent. Well, we need one of them to show up soon. We will see. Alright, so a couple of pieces of news. We'll go to our town crier segment. Well, we had some... Well, you mentioned, I guess, all the injuries. Cromartie, Maggol, but there's a note on... As we're doing this right now, there's a note on the... This is Thursday afternoon. Thursday afternoon. there's a note on the Yahoo Sports NFL headlines. page that both Cromartie and Mangle dressed and returned to the practice field. Yeah, and participated in drills and are likely going to play. Oh, likely. So, probably questionable. Probably questionable for Mangle. I heard Crow was back. I heard Mangold was still probably not gonna play. He was in full uniform for the first time. He warmed up with the team and he was sort of working on the side. He wasn't working with the team. But he's in the uniform, he's in pads, I guess, if they're wearing pads. So maybe just an emergency situation. No, I have the feeling Mangold's gonna play. Starting to see how it goes and if it gets bad they'll pull him. I mean, it's not like that other guy, whatever his name is, is not gonna be active for the game. Right. And I mean, I don't know if... I mean, maybe if they want to be like, well, we don't want to dress a guy who might not
18:00 Jake: be able to play. I don't think they would do that to Mangold. If Mangold said he's playing, he can start him. Well, this is my theory of last week. I'd rather have him take last week off. Well, he clearly wasn't ready anyway. Yeah. Well, he was saying he was ready. But whatever. Other news, two other pieces from our Town Choir segment. One, which is just the exact thing that I think we called out whenever Jason Taylor came on the team and then left the team. I'm like, fine. You were a Jet for a year. We gained a little bit of respect for you. Don't go back to the fucking dolphins and then talk shit about the Jets or talk shit about the Jets fans. You were in the green and white for a year. Try not to be a douchebag when you leave. Well, he's proven himself a complete douchebag. I want to talk about week three. He's quoted as saying that that Chiny... Chad Henney is more talented than Sanchez. Even if you think that, and that's great. And I get it, you're kind of, you know, it's for your guy, right? Chad Henney's your guy in Sanchez. But you played with Sanchez for a fucking year, and you don't have to say that. You could say Chad Henney's more talented than Tom Brady. You could say Chad Henney's more talented than Sam Bradford. There's another, or whatever the fuck. or the other millions of fucking stupid quarterbacks have gone through the to the dolphins. But to make it against the guy you just on the team with, I just feel like even if someone tried to bait you into that, that's just douchebaggery and you get fucking douchebag of the year award. Again, you played for the team for one year, you said you were a jet to go then and make that kind of statement afterwards, which again no inkling of truth to it other than you know one guy's actually won games in the playoffs and got his team to the playoffs and and shown up and the other guys are fucking nothing and will prove to be nothing that's just fucking like I can't stand it I just thought I thought you could be a better guy than that and you'll talk shit about the jet again I hope when we play him we fucking blow him up. I don't even care. I mean Whatever huge bag. He's got to say Some of the things that he said he has to say other thing bringing in Sanchez That's unnecessary I get it No I have no problem saying that that Henny is better than everybody thinks he is that he's great that he's gonna lead us to the whatever great You know what it was? You don't I played with this guy last year I'm now seeing this guy. I hadn't seen him. I think he's better. I don't care Whatever it means absolutely nothing and welcome back. Maven whatever another one I don't really care about I love this I because I want the story to be this guy who's cast away from the bill because you know what we never not never But we rarely take the cast away and turn him into something good There's a lot of stories of the Jets, but maybe it's just because I'm a jet fan and I see it that way But there's never the story of like we take a castaway and turn him into a fucking total stud, right?
21:02 Jake: There's stories of us giving away the guy and then he goes to somewhere else like we cast him off and then he goes somewhere else He is a Danny Woodhead. He does stuff that's like, oh my god, again, we gave him away. I want this to be that story in reverse. I want this to be this guy is a high-route draft pick. He's two years in Buffalo. He's fucking sock- He doesn't get anything, you know, we can't he can't they cast him off We bring him in he puts on the Rex Ryan's hat and if he gets like three sacks this year. I would be Exhaled be surprised to see him on the field He's on the roster. I'd be surprised if he's on the field Dressed or ever hits the field actually gets onto the field for a play. Oh warm-ups no that doesn't count okay this could be put a bed sure Aaron may be in the moat doesn't play this week doesn't play at all not a down no unless it's like 35 nothing how many how no no no that's stupid oh no unless well then we might see Mark Brunel you know what here We'll see Mark Brunel before we see Aaron Maben. Well, that's not today. That's not this week. No, in this week, this week No, you can't change the bet. The bet was you said we're not gonna see him play. We won't see him play Alright stick to that. Unless Mark Brunel's playing. And that's Mark Brunel's playing. Right. Meaning if it's a blowout. Okay, so if if Maben plays and Mark Brunel doesn't play then I was wrong. Then you were wrong. Yeah, okay Or if he plays before Mark Brunell plays? If the defense is on the field before the series where Mark Brunell comes on the play, then we have to think about that. No, there's no thinking. Here's the deal. He's not playing. He's not playing. He's not playing. He's not playing. Done. He's not playing. Alright. Wager. I'll be pissed off if the Jets win 35-0 and there's Aaron Maben on the field while old fucking Flacco's kneeling on the ball. and that comes in when Pace or Thomas are not in the game and rush the fucking quarterback. And you're not doing it. You're not making it happen. So we're gonna bring this guy in We're gonna bring this guy in and push you a little Alright Cause he's a name and he's a whatever and he's a reclamation story and he was there for two weeks So here, maybe he'll push you a little That's what I think this is. I'm hoping. I don't think it's for playing this week. He's young and he's got speed and I think they'll put him in a couple packages. I'm not saying he's gonna be up the whole time, but put him in a couple packages where it's like all hail we're gonna go get. Because his job and what I think he could be just go get the guy. That's it. And they'll put him in a package for that. Something they played in the preseason, somebody knows, put him in the package and Flacco better know it because it'll be coming soon. True.
24:02 Jake: So before we move on from last week, we still have our fantasy kingdom. So if I were to tell you, okay, I'm gonna come to you, right? And I'm gonna give you, You're gonna come at me bro? I'm coming at you with this hand. My hands are out, they're full. Uh-huh. They're full of teams. Okay. Is this the same thing you posed to me like three days ago? Yeah, they're doing on the podcast now. They're doing on the podcast. For some effect. I'm shaking these teams around. A broadcaster wouldn't do that. Yeah, he would. He'd test his stuff. off the air and bring it on. It wasn't good enough to bring it back. But okay, go for it. Make it quick. Mr. Hurrying me up for other segments. Oh my god. Alright, so I'm gonna give you a bunch of teams. Yes. Two of these teams are gonna be 3-0. Right. You've got the Patriots. Yeah. You've got the Steelers. Yeah. You got the Bills. Yeah. You got the Ravens. You got the Detroit Lions. You got the Chicago Bears. Which one's 3-0? There's only two of them. Which ones are 3-0? It is clearly not the Lions and the Bills, right? Clearly. No. A million to one. Wow. Three 3-0 teams, Green Bay. Yeah, that's to be expected. Yeah, well... Yes. Even a year after Super Bowl, it's usually this year. No, they were stacked, and they were getting all their guys back. They were so injured. Did you pick them to go Super Bowl this year? Umm, no, but I picked them to lose in the NFC Championship game. But yeah, the Lions, who were like the preseason darling, it's like alright, they're gonna fizzle. Well, not yet. They've won seven straight games. Yeah, I'm still on all those three. I think the one that I think, I think two of them are a little bit paper tigers. Well, no shit. Yeah Green Bay and You know until you do it consistently I've seen a lot of teams come out of the gate and do really well Hey Texans every year do this Denver did they were 5 and 0 or something? They're like 6 and 0 and then just shat the bed Yep, so it's not that three is unlike the other way 0 and 3 guarantees you not get the Super Bowl Like, I think it's like a 99.99 type of thing. But 3-0 doesn't guarantee you to get there either. Now, so both of these teams, Detroit and the Bills, have played Kansas City. So they've both beaten up Kansas City. But there are other games, the Bills beat Oakland. Right. The Bills beat the Pats. Well, that's the... Those are two good games. But that's the best part of this. The best part of this whole thing that's happening in the AFC East now with the wacky wild west and the AFC East, I'm not surprised that the Dolphins are 0-3. No, I'm not surprised that the Jets are two and one. No, I'm not Not a surprise. No, we didn't we had both. I'm at three. No winning these first three We had them losing this Baltimore game I'm not surprised that the pads are two and one because you know you have an off day and the bills I am surprised three. No, but I am what I am liking is the way the paths are losing is Unpatriotic, that's great in that It's not the way they lose games. Well it's the way they lost last year too.
27:00 Jake: Going up, that's a sign from God saying that they are going to be struck down by lightning. That is a three, going up by 21 points against the Bills who they hadn't lost to in like 17 times in a row or something ridiculous. And then having this team come back and also making the mental errors at the end of the game, the whole thing is just so not a Bill Belichick coach team. Well they're different. Thank you. is the worst defense in the league. Yeah, worst defense in the league. The worst. So if there's nothing else we can take from this. It's just like last year though, remember, Bart Scott, they couldn't stop nosebleed. Couldn't stop nosebleed. So they haven't improved on defense. And there are two big pickups in the off season, Haynesworth and Ocho. They haven't done shit. Haynesworth is probably helping them against the run, although they- Ocho's actually hurting them. Yeah, Ocho is hurting them. At this point, he's- Because Brady threw a pick in that game, which was- you could see it it was not his fault it was Ocho's fault. One of the four picks off. One of the four was was he was like yelling at him. Four picks all last season he puts four in one game. Now a couple tips. One bad throw and one miscommunication with Ocho where it was clear because they went over on the sideline and he gave him the business like Dude, you have to know where the fuck to be. Yeah, that's where I'm gonna throw it and you gotta know in that situation But he's right and he dropped any drop touching but that's the bigger one that easy Touchdown in the stomach. Yeah, catch it. Yeah, whatever just catch it. Yeah anyway All right. All right, so let's do some fancy Kingdom. So I went through I thought for a fancy Kingdom This would be a nice way to do it last week review Picked out all the big guys from last week. I went through looked at the scores picked out ones that were somewhat relevant to the whether it's teams that we face or had faced or are facing, plus some New York stuff. So the two top quarterbacks from last week, number one, Joe Flacco, who we face this week. You I Manning surprisingly against the Eagles had a four touchdown No interception game and both going to guys who they're not normally going to Tory Smith for Joe Flacco and Victor Cruz This guy Tory Smith had his first ever catches in the NFL the first three were all touched Oh, he has three catches three touchdowns in his career. I had a couple of my wife's got picked him up on waivers I'm sure she did good for her. Yep Running back wise, McFadden, who we faced last week, had a monster game, a huge game. As far as wide receivers, Wes Welker had an insane game. He had 16 catches, 200-something yards, two touchdowns. insane Tori Smith again we just mentioned the Flacco hookup who we again face this week so I actually wonder because of this Tori Smith thing that happened last week anomaly yeah I'm certain it's an anomaly I'm sure Reavis
30:00 Jake: will cover Antoine Bolden by the way did you even see Reavis last week because I didn't I think they threw it at him once. Yeah, you know I saw him. I saw him fucking like going head to head and punching somebody. I love Grievous. Like he's so not, no one talks about him other than he's this great shutdown. No, people talk. They're like, he's by far the best. It's not even close. But one of the things he does sort of undercover and doesn't get caught, he literally has given people the business. Oh, yeah, he beats the shit out of people at the line is very physical. This wasn't the life This is changes the routes like you can't even look his way because you know what the receivers not going where you thought he was He's gonna push him off because he's gonna make him go somewhere else They don't even look I mean that's part of the reason why chromatic looks so bad because Every throw is at him. But in some ways, if you know that every throw is at you, that no, then you should have- There's no difference. It's, I'm playing this play as if it's coming at me. You think Rebus doesn't play every play as if the ball's coming to him? That's why the ball doesn't come to him. Because he's playing that way. That's why he looks bad in service. I think that Tori Smith has two catches 50 yards all of a sudden. Which way this will be on it. No, he's got to stay on Bolden, because Bolden's the key to that offense. Bolden has not shown up for that offense at all. Trust me, as a fantasy owner, he has not shown up at all. He's the possession guy. You got to keep him off the ball. And tight end wise, Rob Gronkowski continues to be just the best. He is? He's insanely good. It's not even funny. Yeah, I've always been really well to Michael's and we had a very nice week last game three touch I had the displeasure of playing in our fantasy football league or one of the two that we're in together Playing against someone who had West Walker fight West Walker fight. Let's walk her 45 fucking points. It's like I Mean, I don't I'm sure Michael Vick last year pie set a record for amount points in the game. Pretty insane game against the Redskins. Yeah some crazy It also depends on your scoring algorithm. 45. 45 is a lot. Yeah and that was low I talked to other guys because we don't even have bonuses in ours so like at 100 at 200 that would have been accelerated. Kickers. He would have been. And that the 16 catch mark kickers. Yeah so he would have been. All sorts of yards. He could have been in other leagues he could have been 50-55. Easily I could go into a league that I'm in that has those bonuses. and tell you, now I had the pleasure of beating your wife. Oh wow. Which was a pleasure. I know you beat her all the time. Nice. Thank you. You're gonna get your husband. She's gonna listen to this while falling asleep and kick my ass. She will not listen to me. I had the pleasure of beating her. I would like to tell a little fantasy story. Okay, and I know you know hearing about other hearing about other people's fancy teams not always the most riveting But I have a interesting story about what happened Monday night to me. Okay, so in one week I'm sitting there playing against your wife Yeah, and I she has Rex Grossman and the Washington defense and I have and just to make the story better She has Tony Romo as well. She has Tony Romo on her bench on her bench
33:00 Jake: So there was a big discussion all week decision point for her. Yeah, she made the right decision. I think she did points why she did and To play the guy who was gonna play well so because of what you had and I had the Dallas defense So we're going against each other really going against each other. I do a opposing defense Now in another league, yeah, I'm playing against a guy who has the Dallas defense who I have in this league Yeah, and I have Rex Grossman Oh wow. So you had the opposite. I had the exact opposite. So you were really rooting both ways. It didn't matter to me. Now here's the messed up part. The other league was much closer. I was way ahead of your wife. I didn't really think I was going to lose to her. In this other league, it's extremely tight. And to the point where on the last drive of the game. I pull ahead of him because Rex completes a couple passes. I pull ahead of him by two points. I'm now winning. All I need is for Rex Grossman to not turn the ball over. I'm winning by two on the last drive. I finally pull ahead of him. The Dallas defense comes down. Rex goes up. What do they do? Sack, fumble, recovered. Rex loses points for the fumble lost, he gains points for the sack fumble recovered, and on the last play of the game he beats me. How about that fantasy football? That is insane. That is a fantasy story for the ages. For the ages. Anyway. So, let's move on. I mean, do we need to go into our matchups this week? I don't think it's necessary. We've done enough fantasy. We've done enough fantasy. That's enough fantasy. for you guys so let's move into our like pick segment area yes let's do it Stutter Dye you won again last week you're 3 and 0 in the in the Stutter Dye you're killing me last week I was I changed it the last minute I was like give me Phil Rivers cuz they're playing the dolphins and he goes out and scores six and a half points against the dolphins wonderful and your boy Brady puts up 32 he could throw four picks and still go for 32. That was crazy Well, he threw for four touchdowns and like almost 400 yards so had a lot of points This week I'm gonna pick my first running back and I feel like it's time I waited to pick this dude until they're playing someone shitty until they were playing someone that they can beat up on another own three team I'm picking Adrian Peterson. It's gotta happen. If it's not gonna happen this week for him it's never gonna happen. Again as someone who I'm in fantasy and in fantasy football my wife's in fantasy football. She picked AP number one pick in the draft I want her to win a week. So if I'm hoping for all that, I'm hoping you beat me this week. I hope I kill you. I hope you kill me because you haven't won in our study. I haven't won at all. I'm picking Calvin Johnson. Okay. I'm gonna go my first wide receiver. Megatron. I've done, I know I did, I did, I got really smo- You smoked me.
36:01 Jake: No, but on the first week I must have barely won. You barely beat me. Right. So I'm going back. And you had Rogers, then you had Tom Brady. Now you're going to make a turn. So I have another, I have another, right. I'm going to go with a couple more. You can go with another running back. You can go with another receiver, two receivers, whatever. Eventually you have to pick a defense. Hey, Calvin Johnson scored two touchdowns in every game this year so far. So I'm thinking that against the Dallas secondary, which is not very good, beat up, in a dome, I think it's going to happen. I'm thinking that this is the game where Matt Stafford shoulder falls off. I feel like DeMarcus Flair is gonna get him and knock his shoulder off. We'll save that for the analysis of the Jack Kingdom Pick'em! Let's hop in! Alrighty, so this is the Pick'em where I read the spreads, we pick the games, and I'm explaining it! Alright, alright, alright. Jeez! It's all done Yahoo, which if you knew from the beginning you could have joined. Yeah, I have 11 players got people Yeah, returning members from last. Yeah, they love it. They do 11. We shouldn't announce that it's pretty pathetic People join the league just to play against to pot. We have a shit ton more people actually listen to this Yeah, but how many actually go in and play this shit? So I read off the games I read off the spread 37,000 yes, okay, that's more like it. I read off the games the home away the spread 12 allows Jesus Christ You won't let me get to this Are you gonna keep going keep going? No? No, how many more people keep going what else you got to say nothing This is the banter this is the banter the banter for you, baby. All right So I read the games, the spreads, I try and avoid the Asia East because we go into more depth later and away we go. So starting us off at one o'clock we have Chicago. So again, the reason I've been introduced, now I have a reason to dipshit. A, you didn't announce who won last week and B, you didn't talk about the standings. So well done, Mister, I don't need to be interrupted. No one cares. Oh! Last week. Between the two of us, we sucked again, we tied at seven. And who won the week? Who did win the week? I don't know. Well this is the whole point. What's the point? The point is to pick the fucking game. You announce who wins the week and you announce who's the top. We'll do that at the end! No, he doesn't! We always do that at the end. No, we don't. I dare you. Go back and listen. Alright, so let's see. Last week... Weekly Victor goes to the wife. That's why. Well, that's one of the reasons. Alright, so the wife... Well, the first week it was my brother-in-law. The second week it was the comeback, so I don't know who they are. The third week is my wife. And now... How about overall? Green Machine is winning, but my wife's a number two. She's doing well? Yeah, she's... She's... You're at twenty... You're at nineteen, she's at twenty-three, she's beating you by four. Hey. Okay. That's great. Good for her. I beat her in fantasy. I don't care. There you go. All right. So Chicago hosts Carolina. Carolina gets their first win in a monsoon last week against Jacksonville. Chicago loses to Green Bay again at home.
39:02 Jake: And... Can you do nothing for me? Thanks, dude. Can you do nothing for you in the fantasy? And Chicago is giving six and a half. Chicago's one in two. Carolina's one in two. I feel like... Chicago's gonna win, but not by six and a half. So give me Carolina agreed I don't think they win by six and a half. Give me the point if it's not monsooning I expect more out of Cam Newton. Yeah, I would expect more out of him too again Chicago. Um All right moving right along we have Cleveland hosting Tennessee in What is a surprisingly decent matchup between two somewhat boring teams in my mind? They're boring at least Cleveland is giving one and a half at home, so some respect for Tennessee there, and I like Tennessee this year, so I'm gonna stick with him. I'm gonna pick Tennessee. Yeah, I'm actually going with Cleveland. I just feel like the at-home, Peyton Hills is supposed to be back this week. He has some sort of flu last week. you know There's been lots of reports about, you know, CJ, Chris Johnson, what's happening with him. Is he, you know, he's like supposed to be this incredible stud. They should like try and get a rebate. Yeah, I mean he's, he gave a lot of money. Some of the rumors are coming out saying that O-line is just so bad he'll never run well this year. So I'm gonna give it to Cleveland. Go Cleveland. All right. Tennessee also loses Kenny Britt for the season. Awkward, fancy roster. Yeah, whatever. All right, so next game. Dallas is hosting Detroit, the undefeated Detroit Lions versus the 2-1 Dallas Cowboys. In Dallas, Dallas is giving 1 and 1-2, so some serious respect for Detroit. I must mean they know that that, uh. Gromo's going to play if it's not off Yeah, it opened it off on Monday But that's cuz the game didn't the Monday night game that Dallas was playing and didn't happen Yeah, we're almost playing. I can't see how he doesn't play played on Monday Detroit gets Nick fairly back first time he'll play Hate to say I think Detroit's gonna go for no I'm not big to try can't see Detroit going 4-0 and I think the spread is just too small. If you, I think when you go down to one and a half you're basically saying I think one of these teams you know it's either it's a pick them. I'm gonna go Dallas. This is some serious respect for Detroit there at one and a half. It is, well the 3-0 and Dallas didn't score a touchdown last week. No they did not and they still won the receivers look completely lost. I just can't imagine that happening again. I mean I don't know they've got enough weapons. Well they didn't get to practice at all. Yeah. Yeah, I just I don't know if he's practicing this week or not. So we'll see I'm thinking that all right now This is probably the worst game of the week Minnesota goes to Kansas City both 0 and 3 Minnesota blowing another Big 20 was a 20 or 20 to nothing 20 nothing. I think they were up 17 style They blew a 20 they were up 17 the week before so they're now just completely blowing games. I don't know how you blow a 20 to nothing
42:03 Jake: lead when you have Adrian Peterson in your backfield. Just hand tone, hand tone, hand tone, kick, hand tone, hand tone, kick. Yeah, hand, hand, hand, hand, kick. I don't get it. Anyway, Minnesota in Kansas City, I feel like this is the week for Minnesota today. get their win. They're favored by one and a half on the road. I like them. Give me a Minnesota. Yeah, I think it's about time they're gonna figure out who they are. They don't have the Lions came back on them last week. I don't think they have the... Kensey doesn't have that power to come back. No, Kensey doesn't have that. Kensey gets down by 20. They're not coming back to win. I think it's gonna be... closer than a big ball. But I'll take me and start over with a point and a half. Give me a point and a half. All right, so moving right along, we have a game that has been off until today. Washington on the Road in St. Louis, Washington favored by one and a half. I'm not sure if Sam Bradford's gonna be playing this game. Who's his backup? I don't even know. AJ Feely or something like that? It's like AJ Feely, I think. We can look that up. I'm pretty sure it's AJ Feely, but anyway, I'm trying to get to this page where the team page to see if he's gonna play or not. I'm picking this game as if Bradford's not playing and I'm picking Washington, giving one and a half on the road. St. Louis has been just awful. Okay, so say... Yeah... Just having a mental moment. I get it. I'm going to take Washington. I'm going to take Washington. Me too. Yeah. Wow, we don't know a lot of differences so far. That's bad, because we've both been terrible this year. That's true. Alright, so Philly with Michael Vick. This line has been off all week, but there is a line now. Just pop. That must mean Vick is playing. Vick is playing. He said he's 100% playing. So Philly is hosting San Francisco. San Francisco, this is their second game in a row on the east coast. They didn't go back. No, this is kind of interesting. I think this has happened before when the east coast were going to west. I've heard of them staying over there. Yeah. They went to like Ohio. Oh, they went like halfway back. Yeah, they kind of went halfway back. All right. So Philly home. They just came off a bad loss to the to the Giants in Philly. I can't see them in the lines eight and a half. I see them just killing San Francisco. Yeah, San Francisco isn't good. They just don't know what kind of team they are. I'm gonna go with Philly. Frank Gore not lighting it up, not doing much. Alex Smith, never good. Alex Smith being Alex Smith. Yeah, I mean, I don't like 8.5. I do not like it, but at home, I'll take Philly. You know, I watched that. Philly game because they played the Giants and I was at a giant fans house watching football on Sunday so the Giants were on oh they were going nuts I mean they're really happy because they didn't they didn't think they even had a chance and they won. Nnamdi is not as good as I know. Nnamdi got beat
45:05 Jake: a couple times out there by like guys he shouldn't have been beaten by Victor Cruz and not making tackles I mean this is not stuff that I mean it upsets me no it upsets me because he got paid more than Rebus and Rebus is clearly better than him yeah that's not a Jet Fan Talk and that's being objective about it. That's watching the game. That's just looking at it Rebus is just better. I was watching part of the game it was on one of the many screens but I did see some of the replays where Namdu and another guy couldn't tackle him and whatever. I was like, really? Not that that doesn't happen. It happens to everybody, but, you know. This is supposed to be this dream secondary. No, they got lit up by Eli and a bunch of clowns. I mean, Nick's played, but the rest of it, I mean, you got Brandon Stokley as your... In the count! Brandon Stokley as your number three receiver out there. No tight end to speak of, really. They just got killed. Alright, so moving along, we have New Orleans going to Jacksonville. Jacksonville with Blaine Gabbard as a starter loses. So they're 1 and 2 now. New Orleans, I feel like, is an excellent team. They're giving 7 on the road. I was really torn here. I feel like this is a push. I feel like this game ends New Orleans wins by seven Yeah, just give me the home team. Give me Jackson believe in though. I I know I'm making the wrong pick. Yeah, then good I'll pick the other guy norleans cuz I feel like norleans that it's one thing I've been surprised It's just their defense which has been generally pretty good. They've got good coaching. They've got good players film I think was out last week I don't know, I just feel like, again, I feel like defenses are going to start to. step it up and so the old defenses that were good and I feel like the Saints have a top 15 defense. I don't feel that way. I feel like they do, meaning in the past. So I feel like they're gonna show up and Jacksonville is just no good. Okay, I agree they're no good. Alright, if they're no good then they're not gonna win. They're not gonna be within seven. This next game... uh which is the last one o'clock game this is a game that i really want to watch um this is this is a gut check game so we have yustin at home hosting pittsburgh uh yustin is giving four the line opened at three they're now giving four which is interesting um i don't feel as if Pittsburgh is very good. I actually feel like they're bad. Hmm, a bad team. Yeah, I feel like they're two and one. They're two and one, but they're a bad two and one. They are creamed by Baltimore. They beat up on a crappy Seattle team at home. Seattle stinks. Seattle comes all the way east and stinks. In fantasy, pick up anybody any defense against Seattle. They stink. This week's Falcon. And then they, by the skin
48:00 Jake: of their teeth, beat the Colts with Curtis Painter. Yeah, that's the game I went to bed. I'm like, why am I watching this game? I went to bed and I wake up and you're like, they were within three points. But here's the thing. Houston has a tendency of just losing these games. Right. That they should. I mean this is a gut check game for Houston. This is like, are you good or not? Right. And if you're good, you win this fucking game at home. Yeah. I feel like they're gonna be up for it. But those four points, man, that's enticing. I'm gonna take those points. You know the points? Give me Pittsburgh. Oh, I'll take Houston. I'll take the home team. It... Irenfossed her to a play by the way. Yeah, split time. I feel like he'll play but then within by the first and now granting the first He played last week and he ran for 70 yards or something. No, he didn't play last week Ran for 70 yards and then they pulled him. So I feel like you've been a bit That's fine. I'm not really basing this on an area and foster player not play the Houston defense has been pretty good. Although They've been off and on they weren't great. I'll give about 40 points last week. Yeah, so not so good But this they've got you know again good coaching. I feel like they're gonna Really yeah wait Phillips He's like one of the most he's one of the most known he's been to court. He's a good defensive coordinator But kubiak is a absolutely I'm saying defensive. Oh, okay. But I'm saying defensive. That's like a third of the game. No, I'm saying defensive. Defensive. You actually, you actually. I'm going to do something good. Good. Good. Good. Take the Giants with them any amount of points. I have yeah, I'm taking the Giants giving one and a half I don't know why it's only one enough They just beat them they just beat Philly yeah could be a letdown type of thing Atlanta goes to Seattle and gives four and a half Atlanta one and two. This is a must-win game for them Seattle's done They're terrible. Is Atlanta still starting Jackson? Tavares Jackson. Seattle. Seattle's still starting to. Seattle's their starter, yeah. And they're going to lose. All right. We both agree give us both Atlanta four and four and four and and four and a four and a half Green Bay hosts Denver the biggest line of the week Green Bay is giving 12 and a half and I'm not afraid of 12 and a half. Give me Green Bay. Yeah. I don't like.
51:07 Jake: is just miserable. So Tampa gets a prime time game. Great for Tampa, that's awesome. Tampa gets to host the Indianapolis Colts. Tampa's giving 10. And I don't really care. I'm picking Tampa because the Colts blew their wad last week and still lost at home. Yeah, but by three. People lost at home. I think Tampa's better than Pittsburgh. Okay. Crazy I think you don't think Tampa's a better team than Pittsburgh at this point. Yeah, they're both two and one I think Tampa's better than no, they're younger. They're more athletic. They're faster No, you think Campbell and with a better record than Pittsburgh at the end this year. Yeah Put in the boat I will all right right now cuz I think by week 10 Pittsburgh's gonna be done. They're so old and slow. Done. But Tampa is going to have a better record. Yeah, no reason why not. They won 10 games last year. Okay, so both two one. Let's put it. Let's put in the boat. Okay, it's in the mouth. It's in the mouth And you sound effect We're gonna get sound effects. We need some we're gonna get a soundboard. We will have no Wait, where's my I have the we have this thing. No, I think do that one just we can wind this I'm saying Pittsburgh you say Tampa okay and for the emphasis good we'll write down we'll keep track of who wins the board bets the moat bets You can't copy another podcast. Why not? I'm not counting verbatim. I'm changing it. Alright, let's go to... Let's go to the Thrum Picks. Okay. The AFC East. So last week, we got all of them wrong. Both of us. Really? Yeah, we both had the same like, final... We both thought... New England would win we both thought Miami would win and we both the spread here in the A's. Well we do have to pick it. We have to pick it. I'm pitching Cincinnati, both. I'm picking them to win and obviously since they're the underdog, I'm picking them in the pick them. What in Cincinnati makes you think that the Buffalo Bills who just beat the Patriots?
54:03 Jake: Yeah, it's a let down game. Yeah, this is a trap game if I'm ever heard of it. I just don't think Cincinnati is good enough to be a trap. Why not? Cincinnati's not terrible. We'll see you next time. I mean they've proved they've proved to not be terrible. I would love to think the buffalo is gonna go on a slide now I just don't think it's gonna start at Cincy. Well Cincy's not they again. They haven't proven to be terrible like they've like I thought they were gonna be really Like really really bad, but they're one in two. They have a win Yeah, I I also feel as if they're gonna get up game against a 3-0 team and I feel like this has trap game written all over it for the Bills. You know they've come back from 21 down in two straight games and I feel like if you get into that mentality, like we can do that, one of these times you're not. One of these times you're gonna go down 21 nothing and you know what you're gonna lose 31-7 yeah, and that's gonna suck. I don't know if that's gonna happen against Cincinnati But what I do think is that you come off that and it's like you won the Super Bowl like last year when the Jets Went into New England and beat New England in that playoff game, right? And we celebrated like we won the Super Bowl the next week we came out and it was 24 nothing where we even knew it And it was like oh shit we had another game we had to play right I feel like that's one of these for the bill So I'm picking Cincinnati you're calling this their their AFC championship last week was like their Super Bowl I'm picking them to lose 27 24. Yeah, I mean I mean close But if I woke up on Monday morning, which you did involved and you did wake up now if I wake up in Monday morning in Baltimore. And if you wake up. If I wake up. And I see that, you know, Buffalo lost, I would be like, yeah, okay. But I think they're gonna win. I think they're gonna win 30-21. That's fair. I feel like they're not gonna, I mean, it's also a team that lets themselves get beat down or go down that fast. Obviously their defense isn't great, but I just don't believe in Cincinnati. So I feel like they're going to figure out what kind of team they are. They're going to balance it out. They're going to get a lead. And I feel like they'll be able to keep a lead enough away from Simcy, who I don't think is a team that can put up 30 points. All I know is my boy Fitzpatrick is leading me to the play. He's gonna lead the bills to the class be leading me to the pile. So you think he's gonna do worse than this week Yeah worse than this game than he has in the last two. All right, that's just my god Alright so the next game we have New England going to Oakland So this is the third straight game for Oakland against an AFC East opponent Yeah, this time in Oakland for the second straight week New England on the road for the second straight week. Oakland showed me some things last week. They are better than I
57:00 Jake: thought they were. They play a really... They're still the Raiders. They still make stupid penalties. They still do things sometimes wrong. But you know what? They're a very physical team. Very physical. They're fast. And I feel like those are things that New England has trouble with. In the meantime, you know, Sanchez threw it for a 360, 370? He's the best biggest game ever, I think. I think Brady's going to be able to multiply that. You know, this could be another 400 yard game for Tom Brady. You know, Keller went for 87, Gronkowski and Welker in the middle of that field are going to go nuts. I feel like New England bounces back. Not gonna lose two in a row and they're gonna put up 38 38 27 I think this is a hangover. What's the line on this? Let me look you should announce the lines New England's favored by four and a half. That's exactly what the Jets were favored by Yeah, I think this is a Hangover game for them really? Yeah, I feel like the whole going across to going over to going across the coast That's right. I feel like I feel like the Patriots, and this is just a gut feeling, I feel like the Patriots are cocky enough to think that what happened to them at Buffalo wasn't them. We didn't really, it was like one of those nah, nah, nah, we got a different game plan. I think what you're going to learn in this game is that no, not just Buffalo just beat you, other people can beat you too. and they're gonna figure it out that their defense just as horrible, so why it might be a lot of back and forth, all it's gonna take is one or two one or two things that flow towards Oakland's way, and I think what's gonna win this game. I think you're a little jaded from watching Oakland just beat the Jets. I think the Jets have a much better defense, and they still couldn't stop them. I feel like I feel like they're just gonna run. I don't, I still haven't scored 27 points. If McFadden can do that against us, he'll have 200 yards. He's dying against everybody. He's the leading rusher in the league. He'll have 200 yards. Alright, I hope so. He literally will just light them up. I think their problem will be, if I were McFadden and I had that 70-yard breakaway against the Patriots, I'd drop at the 10. Why? Because, take the time off. I wouldn't give them any more time. Like in the second quarter? No, it doesn't matter. I wouldn't. So in the second quarter you'd not take seven points? Yeah, I don't want any. No, you didn't get the seven. That's just the dumbest thing ever. I just give him less time to get on the field. Alright, I just lost a little respect for you. What's your score? 34-29, Oakland wins. So we have two opposites here. So someone's going to do okay. Yeah, someone's going to do okay. here. Alright, so next game, let me get the line. It's San Diego's home, Miami, going over to San Diego 415, San Diego is favored by 7. And let's see what do we got. So Miami coming off another or their first road lock.
1:00:02 Jake: They're 0 and 3, they have a 1. San Diego thought they would turn around after being... We thought they'd win it on the road, because that's what they did last year, but clearly they just stayed. They're not a good enough team. San Diego ekes out a win against Kansas City. They were my suicide pick last week, San Diego, so sweating that one out. I'm 3-0 in that, which is great. I'm a double eliminator, so you can actually lose one. But I haven't yet, and I haven't picked my team for this week yet. I'll be looking forward to doing that. So anyway, Miami faces this San Diego team that's not really doing their September thing this year. They're 2-1. I mean, they lost to the Pats. That's okay in New England. That's fair. They just barely beat Kansas City, but that's a division game, so that's fair. That's one of those just... Yeah, it's a division game, you know, that's fair that the patch just lost the bills and happens at this end the season No, it's gonna remember that they just lost again. They won the game Yeah, they won the game so they're two and one which is not their normal own three or one in two, right? The fins not so good Reggie Bush not so good I think they just signed Steve slate and off the scrap. Did they just sign I think they did I read something about that I know you get on. I know you did get dropped from the Texans. I hope I am not just spouting like lies. Let me do a quick quick googling here. I think that they realized we have this yeah he's on the dolphins they they added Steve Slayton. So Reggie Bush is not in every downback Daniel Thomas is their guy and I just don't think they're good enough to play with San Diego. They're just not a good team, Miami. They should at this point make the decision to just suck for luck. Because I was willing to give Henny this year to Sarahite, year four. I wouldn't give up on Sanchez if he was not good in three years. But if you can't win, that's all that really matters. Like stats don't matter how strong of an arm you have doesn't matter how tall you are doesn't matter How you know how you look physically doesn't matter. It's can you win games and they're not winning games? No, so and and I think it's it's it's the problem is this is not gonna be turned around like no Basically, we lose two more games. They're gonna fire the head coach definitely They'll bring in don't just give it to some coordinator for the rest of the year Yeah, he's looked like he's kind of losing the team's pronto Well again this started really I mean to go back on the Dolphins This started last year and they were basically saying we're firing Yeah, you didn't think it was a big deal But it was like a huge big deal that not only was the coach talking to them when they still had a head coach Which is supposed to be like one of those things like you're not you don't talk to a team that has a cut coach about their head coaching That's not you know, it's not part. I don't fault tar balls for doing that
1:03:02 Jake: A lot of people a lot of people said you're not as it as no, you're not even half one. I am a quarter Uh, you don't do that because when you're a head coach, you don't want them doing that to you. No, of course But so then that's the point so then as a fraternity of brothers. Yeah, you shouldn't do that It's a crappy thing to do so when they say we're gonna talk to you say listen You still have a head coach right fire him then I'll talk to him talk to you. It's kind of it's kind of worse So bad on the dolphins actively kind of lame known to be out there looking for a head coach I mean I would I would be booing Woody and say don't do that today either fire him or don't fire him, but then to not get the guy you want And they did not only to one, they did it to both people. Both people who are going to be sort of done this season, Chad Henny and the coach, they did to the Chad Henny. Yeah, they flirted with Tyler. And just the only reason they couldn't get it done is because Orton apparently wanted some new contract. They weren't willing to sign. So I don't know. I think the Dolphins, I'm not saying that, here's my prediction going forth with the Dolphins. And that's the end of the video. Thank you very much. We'll see you next time. the rest of the season, they'll fire the coach after, they'll be one in five or something, or one in four, they'll fire the head coach after some big loss. They'll bring in someone else. They'll get that new coach ball. Yeah, you'll win a couple games. They'll win some games, they'll end up the season not, they won't get the worst record, they'll be the worst. This game? They're gonna lose. They're gonna lose. What's your score? 30 to 19. 30? 19. Yeah. I have a lower scoring than that. San Diego at home, I think there's gonna be a low score. I just feel like it's a little bit of a lower scoring game and for some reason I picked some weird numbers. 1911. 1911? San Diego? Yeah, San Diego. I don't know why I picked 1911 but I felt like going with some weird numbers. Is it a good year for a wine? 1911? If you have wine from 1911, it probably tastes like shit. It's very old. Like soy sauce. Champagne. It's a hundred years old. Alright, let's go. Last game. The game of the millennium! Why is this the game of the millennium? This is the real game of the decade. Why is this the game of the trace decades? Well, Mr. Edelstein, this just not- We don't divulge last names on this show. Oh, damn it. Mr. 30 year old Edelstein at 425. Park Avenue. Oh my god that is not my address. I know we'll find them there. The last name. It is because it's your birthday weekend. It is. And we are making my 30th birthday. It is your 30th birthday. It's a big birthday weekend. And that doesn't mean that you're like it's just a it's the 30th time your birthday is fell fell on a weekend that could also be your 30th birthday weekend and actually your birthday isn't even on the weekend on Monday it's on Monday but after talking to you for a while and and negotiating with you and what you want to do we are taking you we in another person the giant family talk about are taking you down to Baltimore. That's right. And we are going to do some tailgating.
1:06:01 Jake: But actually not. We're going to do. We're not tailgating. We're going to where we're going to. We're going to our brickies. Oh, brickies. Yeah. To eat crabs and shrimp. I am not going to be a picky. We will actually kill you. Yes. I am. I'm going to show fish that will not happen. So I will be cracking crab shells and trying to hit you in the face. Driving down Sunday morning. going to the game Sunday night. Yeah, we'll drive down Sunday morning, we're going to do a whole day in Baltimore, eating, drinking, partying. Making sure to watch the Giants game for the Giants fans. Yep, we'll find a suitable place. I've been looking that up. And then we're going to the game. So it'll be interesting to... A reverse of last year's Baltimore game, which was at... home on a Sunday night for the Jets where we lost 10-9. And so this will be fun because I've never been to the stadium. Me neither. This is my first time in the stadium. I'm excited to go see that stadium. I love going to stadiums. Me too. What do you think about the game? I feel like is it going to be a birthday surprise? A birthday surprise. Well, it could go over midnight and then at 2-0-1, the 2-0-1 they win. Oh, that'd be phenomenal. I feel like. There is a bad, for me as a fan, there's a bad taste in my mouth from last year's embarrassment. 12.9 I think? 10.9. 10.9, sorry. There's an embarassed, still, from last year's Lost to the Ravens. That at home, Monday Night? Sunday Night game, I believe it was a Sunday, it might have been a Monday, it was one or the other. It was the prime time opener, again, the Jets. Awesome. And it was like a big like Rex plays his old team and like we're gonna be pumped up and we went out and had like 14 or 15 penalties and played some sloppy ass football and Didn't score a touchdown and I feel like if I still feel it the players still feel it and if No, Rex still feels it and coming off that loss and the Ravens coming off that win that they just had is the perfect storm for a Jets victory. Right, so just to be clear, we both picked this to eat for us to lose this when we looked at it. We did. But there are circumstances that come up in the middle of the season. There's a guy who always gave me crap on the forums. He's always like, every year you pick the Jets, you pick the Jets to, you know, you pick the Jets as a season, but then you pick them to win every week. And I said, well, because... Objectively looking at it from a season point of view, I know they're not going 16-0. But when it comes from week to week, I always feel there's a chance they can win. We have never picked against the Jets on this show. You flirted with it once. 120 times you haven't picked one. I'm sure I have flirted with it a few times. Even last year when they played the pads and lost 45-3. Give me your keys to the Kingdom on this one. Back to that arm. I know you're a broadcaster, but there's no pre-production meeting. There is no. I mean, I come in, I have this agenda in front of me, and it changes to the one that you
1:09:01 Jake: wrote after I'd already written one. Do you see that on the agenda? I don't. Should I tell you my score or should I tell you the keys to the castle? Keys to the castle. Keys to the castle. All right, so keys to the castle. Run the fucking ball. run the fucking ball run the fucking ball really that's that's good stuff they have to be able to run the ball against this team you cannot drop back and pass against a pass rush that they have with every lurking back there and with Ray Lewis running around in the middle of the field still these guys are still good not out of Lewis and and read they will kill you you have to be able to control the ball and control the tempo of the game. So that's a key. Second key is make sure Ray Rice doesn't beat you. Make Joe Flacco, I know he did it last week, but make him beat you. Make Joe Flacco go down the field and have to pick up 3rd and 9's. Don't let Ray Rice run for 8 yards on 1st and 10. Don't let him dump little passes off to Ray Rice for 38 yards. Like, don't let that guy beat you. Make Joe Flacco beat you. Yeah, that's my actual one, is I think that Ray Rice is gonna get a lot of yards. But here's where I want him to get yards, and here's where I don't want him to get yards. Give him yards, not give him yards, but if he's gonna get yards, and where I think he's gonna get yards, then I think, I'm not gonna say it's okay, but at the end of the game I found out that they... that came from a certain area, up the middle. If that guy gets up the middle and gets the five, six yards at a run, fine. Just make sure he doesn't do the edge stuff. Where we're suffering now is that edge play. That stupid fucking thing in Oakland. Every time he got to the edge, he just went. So please make sure the keys to the castle are protect the edges, and we usually do a very good job of this, protect the edges. is. I'm not saying, you know, again, open up a hole in the middle, but I'm willing to give up a seven yarder in the middle, you know, then give up the 35 yards on the edge. So, you know where I'll give up yards when it's third and 15 and they run an eight yard draw play. That's where I'll give up yards. I mean, there's the only hope I have for this, because again, if you look at the matchup, we're a team that just gave up 170 yards, they're a team that has a great running back. We're a team that you know, the second worst in running, Dave, we're not playing great defense. We're getting lots of penalties on the passing. Like, they've got, I wouldn't say a lot of weapons on, they don't have a lot of weapons in wide receiver. So you know one of them is gone, right? You just count one of them. But they have a backup who just scored three touchdowns, what, in the first quarter or was it the first half? So, you know, it looks, and then they have a good D. Apparently the best D in the league. So all things equal up, but I think there's a little bit of wrecks in this.
1:12:04 Jake: Number 57, Mad Backer. I don't fucking respect your defense. Your defense... We don't even like your defense. Looks like shit last week. Show me something. Show up to this game and show me something. I put it out there, I think that's what's gonna happen. The Jets D is gonna show up and win. Win the fucking game 24-19. Okay. 24-19. Yeah, I have it. very similar my score is is 23 20 23 20 okay so it's pretty much the same we're underdogs on both sides the Jets are underdogs what are we getting? 3? they give us a little respect where are we? probably not. 3.5 they don't like us. no. I wouldn't like us either There's a little bit of a matchup. The jet's D comes back and this is when you see the return of the jet's D. And from here on out, no fucking 170 yards from any runners. I mean, Rex Ryan had a thing about not letting 100 yard runners let alone a... ...300 or 170 yard runners. Alright, let's just wrap this puppy up. That's it, that's the end of the podcast.
