11 Jake: are high. Get used to it. It's always going to be that way. Can't wait! Justin: Welcome to Jet King. podcast, the longest running New York Jets podcast on the entire interwebs for this day, Thursday, September 22nd, 2011. Joining me today, as I am the host, Jake. Wow, that came off awkward, but whatever, we'll power through it. It's Justin. Justin, how you doing? For 119 times we've been doing this podcast. Oh my God. I'm sick of you. I'm so sick of you. Alright, so we got an agenda, we're going to talk about little final thoughts on the previous game. We'll do some fancy kingdoms, some stutter dud, some jacking to pick them, and some thrown picks. Because we got it all working out on this one podcast, so stay tuned. I even have a weekly poll in there that we might or might not get to. We'll see. So of course, let's kick it off with Are you okay? Yeah, I'm dying a little bit. Final thoughts on last week's game? We played very well. The Jaguars are not very good. That's it? Not really. We talked about it last week. I know but I always go back I rewatch the some of the highlights. I really watch anything There's nothing that sticks out I mean it's a game that they should have won and they won There's nothing special about beating the Jaguars 32 to 3 like if they if they won 22 17 I'd be like upset about Jack doe Rio whatever gone after the season He's been around a long time. I don't think so. Really? He's got nothing to work with. I mean, he made the smart move this weekend starting Blaine Gabbard. Yep. Cause if he... Let's put it this way. If he didn't start Blaine Gabbard... He did start throwing away the season. Well yeah. And he'd be like, we're developing this guy and he might not be there to actually re- benefits of like developing a guy so why not just throw him out there and you know shit they're playing Carolina so they got another rookie quarterback they're playing against so yeah two rookies out there see how it goes SportsCenter had like a like the most recent first round pick quarterback matchups in their rookie season type of thing going and there's Peyton Manning vs Ryan Leaf and a bunch of others. Re-watching. Raffles Burger vs Eli. I was surprised at the fourth quarter. I don't know if it was just because the defense sort of slowed down a little bit or because they were in prevent. But in the fourth quarter when Gavir got out there. He started to move the ball more with M.G.D. more.
02 Justin: Like that guy started to light it up. And I know it's- It's not really lighting anything up. They scored three points. There's no lighting anything. No, in the fourth quarter I'm saying. They didn't score any points. I know. There's no lighting. There's no lighting anything. And when you're up 30, well when you're up 32 to three, it's like. If you want to run the ball for eight yards in a chunk, go for it. You can run the ball all you want. Our second stringers are out there. Have fun running the ball. Because that's not doing anything. Alright, so yeah, not much to say about last week. 2-0 feels good. How's Mangold? He is, I would say, not going to play. It's still questionable. They've got to get him off playing tomorrow. I actually think they shouldn't bring him and I have my reasons we'll talk about when we talked about the game. So let's go to... what do you want to talk about first? Well we have our fantasy kingdom last week reviewed this week. What does that mean? You wrote that. Yeah. And I love how you wrote these things. How'd you do in your thing? I played our business partner and I beat him by 40 some odd points. So I won. It was awesome. That's right. That's right. I kicked some tail again. I'm 2-0. And I play your wife this week. Yeah, I finally got to win this week. But it was a loss because you beat your wife and then you had to hear about it. Nah, not at all. I can't wait to beat her. Yeah, I'm actually colluding with her to help beat you. I can't wait until I beat both of you. That'll give me even more satisfaction because I'll know that I not only beat her, I beat her with your help. I was helping her on some of her pick ups and stuff. I can't wait. I cannot wait. I, in fact, yeah, I helped her. I didn't trade her. I didn't like trade her like, you know. Oh, here's Cam Newton. Here's the best thing. Here's what I'm looking forward to. You told me I shouldn't really be looking too much forward. For more information, visit www.fema.gov But yeah, this is not a big win. Oh, I love this Yeah, but you you you love it for someone who like would struggle with that. She's not gonna start with well The wife is a big dolphins fan. Yes. Yes Okay, I have Brandon Marshall on my team. Yes, you do as my third receiver I can choose not to play Brandon Marshall and play Kenny Britt instead Granted I have a lot of good receivers. I have Roddy White, Andre Johnson Brandon Marshall, Kenny Britt. And I can only play three of them. I have to choose. I'm choosing to play Brandon Marshall this week just so that she has to sit there and decide if she'd rather root against Brandon Marshall and for her fantasy team or just root for her real team, the Dolphins, and not care what happens in fantasy. And what you said to me, which you can repeat, I lost a little respect for the hunt. She separates them pretty well. I think the thing that you don't get is the dolphins have been pretty bad for a while now. And I don't think anybody going this season is thinking, including most of the dolphin fans, I've talked to three or four dolphin fans.
00 Justin: They don't really think anything's happening this season. They basically see this as a lost season. And so I think they're kind of like, so I think she's looking at it like she loves her dolphins and loves the team, but really doesn't see them winning. And so it's not going to be heartbreaking for her to watch a team get beat or her team get beat because she just doesn't think they're going to win. But when Brandon Marshall scores a touchdown, she's actually going to. be upset. That is the cool part. She'll be happy. No, she won't. From what you've said, she won't. Well, I just think you think it's gonna be like this whole like oh, oh thing. Maybe we'll see. I will try to be. It's gonna be fun. Alright. Take video. You will be there. I wish I was. She provoked my right to be there. That's right. No Justin for this game. That's right. There will be another Dolphin fan watching it. command center it should be good. So let me open up our fantasy league just so I have it in front of me. Do you know who you play this with? Yes I play another dolphin fan. You're playing against another dolphin fan. Yes. So we're both playing against dolphin fans. Yes. Okay and what does the preview say for your matchup? preview for the matchup for me against this guy. Yeah, this guy named his team name is Boom Rush. I don't know like bums me rushing as a stupid players out of town if they suck. It likes bum rush. It does like the website likes bum rush but I've seen that go I actually went back and week after weekend looked at them they're so far off. Oh yeah they're totally wrong. They're like off by literally 30 points swings. All right so oh you can bet on these things can't you? Yeah you can pick. Where do I go to do that? That's good. Good, you just figured that out. Where do I go to do that? The big thing says pick them. Yes. And I'm actually leading. I'm second in rule. Oh I haven't done pick them. That's so stupid. Oh man. Oh I don't like the interface though. It doesn't show me like the teams. Doesn't show me like. Oh no. No, no, no, you have to know the teams. Oh, I don't know the teams. So I will say that my big thing this week is I'm basically betting on, so I lost, I lost. Did you bet on me last week? Jake: Yeah. Justin: Are you betting on me? You can see, you can go. I can't see who you. Yeah, you can go back a week. Oh. Man, this podcast is titled Teaching Justin About Pick'em. Everyone picked me. That's fabulous. And I won. How about week one? Oh, you and your wife picked you. Oh yeah. But the people who didn't pick you and picked me, they were victorious. I'm still leading this, I don't care. I don't care about you, I care about me. So I'm doing a little risky thing, I'm taking out, I'm putting Matt Schaub on ice and I'm putting Cam Newton in there. No kidding. Yeah. I see that. I'm just doing a little craziness. I see that. I feel like, I feel like... I need, I need, I need big points. I think Matt Jobs is going to give me, well, A, he's going to New Orleans. He's playing as the Saints. The Saints, Stevens hasn't looked great,
00 Justin: but I feel at home they're going to play better. And I feel like they have a good defensive coordinator who's going to start to turn them around. I don't know. I feel like Cam Newton against the Jaguars. I feel like he'll, if Mark Sanchez can run 36 yards against the Jaguars, why can't Cam Newton run 350? I don't think that will happen. 350-400 touchdowns. I don't think that will happen. So that's my big guess. I'm just beating the net. Because I lost Jamal Charles. So I was a Jamal Charles holder. I basically should be handicapped for the rest of the year. But I'm not. So I'm fighting it in. The other thing is I dropped the Houston defense. I picked up the Lions defense for this one. for this week. I think I'm going to ride them, see how they're doing. I think Houston's going to get lit up by New Orleans. I'm looking at my roster here and I see Antonio Gates has not practiced because of his foot, which is always an issue with him. And he's questionable for Kansas City, so I'm going to have to keep an eye on that four o'clock start and I might have to flip him out of the lineup for Fred Davis perhaps. So let's go ahead and pick our studs to the dud this week. How did I do last week? Oh, yeah, you did cuz I have a grape. All right, let's hear it All right, so so in week one you picked your model Charles fine, whatever he's stuck Doesn't matter you pick that's running whatever you picked your your top top five picked in the entire fantasy Whatever and you have to be on your team. So whatever he's on your team. That's awesome. That's cool Yeah, last week you pick Aaron Rodgers the number one quarterback before the season starts. Yeah And this week, you're picking Tom Brady. So I feel as if there needs to be some sort of rule and regulation around the fact that we should actually pick a full roster before we go picking our second quarterback in three weeks. You know what I mean? Like, pick another running back. You know what you play a couple running backs in fantasy you're picking Aaron Rodgers and then Tom Brady Clearly you're gonna win. I can't pick Tom Brady He's the guy who scored 50 points to fuck it We could pick Cam Newton who might score 70 not doing that. All right, I haven't actually even decided on my stud Well, so why are you with me? I'm just saying it's a little silly. It's like oh, it's just stupid. Alright, so what do you want to do? You want to have it limited so you have to pick a whole row of rosters? You should have to pick a roster and then once you get past that, then like, we should do like a big roster. Maybe fine. Two quarterbacks. Keep your Brady. Two quarterbacks. Four running backs. Four receivers. That gets us to what? Ten. Two tight ends, that's 12. And then once we get to that, then you can like do something else. Like pick whoever you want to. So basically what you're saying is we can pick a defense. Yeah, pick a defense. We have to pick a defense, we have to pick a kicker.
01 Justin: And then maybe we can get like three flag spots to do whatever. Well why don't we just model out the R? R. Because there's not enough, right? One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine. Nine starting spots. We need like 16 spots because we're doing this every week. So two quarterback. So we're basically saying We'll write this out. We're gonna have to come back. But basically I'll give you a radio This is my and this is it you're done with quarterback. I can't do quarterback stress. Nope. That's fine. You're done That's fine. Of course, does he pick Rodgers and Brady? Well, you can pick Rodgers and Brady. I will I'm gonna wait though Yeah, no wait till you need him. That's right. No wait till I'm behind But who are you gonna pick this week? I don't know. Well, you have to pick. All right, I'm working on it I'm looking through and I'm gonna decide come back to you. No, let me do let's go object in and pick them Come on. Let me just do this Let me do this real quick. No, no, I don't want to know no waiting around for you right now. None. No, come on Let's go. Really? Yeah, let's go. All right, so I'm picking Calvin Johnson. Okay Megatron, okay done. All right you pick out write it down write it down. All right. Let's go Let's do our checking the ping-ups. If you don't know about the podcast we do we do a lot of stuff at this week We generally review the game at the first one. So that was on Monday. It's now Thursday We won and we're now gonna do our bunch of different games. We do our fancy corner or fancy Kingdom. We do our Stutter dead we do and now we're doing Jack Kingdom pick them, which is where we pick every game with the spread, leaving out the AFC East, which we pick in a segment called Throne Picks, where we pick the scores, and then we leave the Jets game to the very last where we actually go in depth on the Jets game and talk about the match-up. Right on. Including this week, give some projections of what you think is going to happen in the That's right. We did that last week. Alright, so let's look at the overall standings. The leader, you didn't do so well. Neither of us did very great. I actually had an okay comeback week. Right now the leader in the pack is the comebacks. I don't know who that is, but they're 16 and 12 when lost. I'm 12 and 6, which means I had 8 this week. I think I came in third overall in the week. Eight's still not great. And you are down at 10 and 18. Yeah, not good. Which means you had another five. Horrible, horrible week. You're starting off slow. The spread killed me because in the non-spread one. The spread will kill you. In the non-spread one, I'm leaving. We knew one of us was gonna have a better week than the other because we picked a lot of different games. a lot of different games. this week. Alright, so let's get it started. Let's get started. Alright, first game on the slate. We have Cincinnati hosting San Francisco. San Francisco having to fly east for the one o'clock start. Cincinnati doesn't look as bad as we thought they were. San Francisco. They're not very good. They lost to Dallas and the broken rib Tony Romo.
02 Justin: But they were leading. They were leading but they lost. He is, they lost. Cincinnati giving two and a half at home. Not sure why San Francisco gets any respect here. So give me Cincy. I'm actually gonna take, I'm actually gonna say San Francisco. I think San Francisco is gonna come in, I don't think Cincy's run defense is very good. I think they're gonna run it all over them. Alex Smith, if Alex Smith can score against the Talos, I think he can score against Cincy. So I think they're gonna win. All right. Give me San Francisco put it on board. I got Cincy All right. Next game Tennessee coming off their big win against the Ravens that uh, can't wait to watch this game this guy called Tennessee hosts Denver and the line of the final Is six and a half it opened at seven it went down to six and a half and that is the reason I picked the Tennessee Titans We gonna go all opposite this week? Good, cause you've been shit in the bed. I haven't shit in the bed. No, I'll pick Denver. I don't think Tennessee's very good. Oh, because Johnson's supposed to come back for this big comeback game, but I don't think it's gonna happen. Give me Denver on the points. You got it. All right, the on-fire Detroit Lions, the number one scoring offense in the entire NFL Detroit Lions, traveled to Minnesota for a division rival game. And Detroit is giving three and a half on the road to a division rival that is insane Minnesota's Minnesota kind of stinks. Detroit's looking great. I'm buying Detroit. Give me Detroit Yeah, I'll take Detroit in this and go Megatron from dome to dome. They're gonna they're gonna light it up again I mean, a GPS has been okay, but really the weakness and their game has been really, Donovan's just not been very terrible. He's been terrible. So when does Christian Ponder get a shot? Soon about halftime. Soon I would say. If they're 0 and 4, time to throw the rookie in there. All right, moving along, we have New Orleans at home again, hosting Houston. You since two and now are they not they are they beat up on a couple bad teams the Colts and the Dolphins and New Orleans very tough to beat at home, and they look really good last weekend against the Bears I did not I thought the Bears are gonna beat them New Orleans giving four and I'm going to take the favorite. Give me New Orleans, giving four. Yeah, I'm going to take New Orleans as well. I think Houston is a little bit of a, you know, I watch their games because they, I had Matt Jobs. I've been watching them on whatever directivities for a fan and I just don't see them. They've gone against two teams that aren't very good. So they've won, but. I think they can do against a real team. Yeah real team Norleans at home I also know in defense which has been giving up a lot. I think they're gonna turn a corner again I think there's there's some coaches out there some defensive coaches that they're not gonna let the team just be
02 Justin: They're super hit or miss so at home I missed against Green Bay and they did very well last weekend in Chicago at home at home So in the dome tough to beat. Yep We're both on that bandwagon. Alright, so the next game doesn't have a line. It's off right now It has a line in other places. It's doesn't have I've seen it at seven. Okay, so seven seven and a half I'm picking it off It's it's Philly hosting the Giants I'm picking this Presuming Michael Vick is playing Yep That's how I'm picking it, even though it wouldn't sway. Even if Kafka was playing, I'd pick the Eagles regardless. So you, well, Eagles at home for their, for the home opener, you know, they won by a shoestring last year. Yes they won. Yes they came back. Yes they, you know, had the miracle. You can't compare this Eagles team to last year's Eagles team. It's not the I think it's gonna be a bit of catch-up for everybody. I haven't seen that the New York Defense be very good. Here's the thing. These are both one-and-one teams Yeah, if you were to tell me one of these teams is gonna be one and two and one's gonna be two and one Yeah, not betting on the Eagles being the one that's gonna be one or two. Yeah, it's true You also picked the Rams to beat the Giants last week But anyway, I'm gonna take I'll take you I mean it's five and I'm seven and a half I'm getting points right here just by picking the Eagles. So why wouldn't I not pick the Eagles? So I'm gonna pick the Eagles I don't know. I just feel like it's one of those games that No, don't get caught in this Giants trap. They're I'm not they're not good You know, I just not been having just lost another but they die for this season Yeah, that's the other thing but they can run the ball The only thing is can the Eagles if they stack everybody up against they can run the ball if If you have guys That offense is real good. It's time for Carolina to win one of these games and they're 0 and 2. The news has been how great is Cam Newton been? He hasn't won a game yet. It's time to win. Give me Carolina.
01 Justin: Give me Carolina and give me Cam. I kind of wish the line was 3 and not 3.5 but I'll take Carolina. show up then you got this rookie coming in like might invigorate them you never know they're they don't have enough players to be invigorated their defense is really not bad not that the run defense the pass defense is not that it's really not bad if you look at it I mean they played very well week one they beat a team who just beat Baltimore Right, so they their one win is looking okay Yeah, they're lost to the Jets at 32 3 was really more on their offense Right 32 we put up was not really against a degree if we hadn't on the pick. I mean They're good. Yeah, they're out. He's so original so That 32 that they gave up was really more a function of the field position that we were getting. I mean, how could we not score? We're getting the ball on the 20. You're their 20, like three drives in a row is... Anyway, all right. I think the defense is gonna get worn out running around trying to catch Cam Newton. From what I've seen in the highlights, he hasn't been running around as much. He's been throwing from the pocket, which is... Good news. No, it's good news for him. All right. I've walked in to score a lot. Moving along, we have Baltimore on the road at St. Louis. Baltimore's giving four on the road. They lost last week to Tennessee. Here's what I want to happen. Okay, what do you want? I really want Baltimore to blow them out. Okay, ask me why. Uh, because you have some place. You're supposed to ask me why. Oh, why? Because the Jets play Baltimore the next week, and I don't want Baltimore losing two games in a row with that awesome playing. And us being there at the game with Gary Vee. Hey Gary Vee. Um. Sure though. No, I like when teams don't have that momentum thing, like, oh, we've lost two in a row, we have to win. When does Baltimore lose three games in a row? With the third one being at home in prime time, it doesn't happen. So I got... And they look so good against Pittsburgh, they're clearly a good team. With all that said, they're on the road. giving four? I like St. Louis at home. Really? I like them at home. I just think they're a better team at home. Oh, did he watch the game last week? Oh no, you didn't. That's right, you were out at a restaurant. I was. It was my girlfriend's birthday. I wasn't there. Here's the thing, I didn't like watching the Rams. I think the defense was looking okay. Like, you know, obviously, it's back. he's gonna put something in the defense. I could not get is that unlike the Jets who play a lot of maneuvering on their defense, they're disguising their defense, they're saying, hey, you don't know if we're coming or not, the fucking Giants just lined up everybody on the box and literally put a sign in LED across, We're gonna come and fucking get you right the fuck now. Literally we're coming for you And it was so obvious, everybody's calling it, the fans are calling it, everybody's like
01 Justin: we're coming to get you and we're gonna fucking sack you right now and they couldn't even get the ball out. Like they got him. Every time they did that, they got him to make a bad throw. He couldn't like, if I'm the defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens, I'm saying It doesn't even matter. We're just gonna, we're gonna come after him every time I throw under pressure. He literally wasn't, he wasn't able to get the ball out quick enough to anybody with any kind of accuracy. And I think if that's the way it's gonna go, Baltimore might win, you know, they'll win 14-3 because they'll run back two touchdowns. They don't even need an offense on the field because they just, they look, St. Louis didn't look like they could handle the blitz at all. So to me, if I'm watching that, Baltimore's just gonna put the shit out of them and the one time he gets it out, there's Ed Reed, he'll pick it up and run it back for touchdown. So I'll take, give me Baltimore. You've got him. Thanks for spending all that time on Baltimore. Um, we're gonna play next week. I'm scouting. I'm scouting them. Yeah, that's scouting. All right, moving along. San Diego, by the way, these are four o'clock games. Yeah, I moved into a four o'clock game. Well, the Baltimore games. of four also. San Diego is hosting the worst team in the league Kansas City. Yep. San Diego is giving 14 and a half. Yep. I'll take San Diego giving 18. Really? Yeah. They're gonna crush them. Don't like these 14 and a halfs. Don't think Kansas City is as bad as... No they are. They're that bad. I just... I don't believe it yet. So week one, they lose their best defensive player. Yep. Week two, they lose their best player. Yep. They're that bad. I know. And they've lost 40-something to under 10 twice. Call me crazy. They haven't scored more than once in one game, and they've given up 40 points twice. Call me crazy. I'm gonna take, I'm gonna take a look at the points. Okay crazy. Alright crazy. I'm going for it. Alright crazy. Have fun. 14 and a half points. You know what I'm, I'm picking, I'm changing my starter dodge. And you're gonna pick Stephen Jackson. No. Who's, no. Stephen Jackson? Who? Stephen Jackson? Who? Oh Jesus. Uh... What's his face, Jackson? Vincent Jackson! Yeah, I'm changing my starter guide. Good with starter guide. Give me Philip Rivers. Okay, you got Philip Rivers. Alright, changed. Changed. Alright, good matchup. Probably the best game of the week. Outside of our game. Green Bay! Actually, I think the Monday Nighters is the best game of the week. No, these two teams are better than those two teams. Green Bay is going to Chicago in a rematch of last year's NFC title game. What's Chicago's record? One-on-one. A rematch of last year's NFC title game. Yep. This time, actually both times, played in Chicago. Green Bay is favored by three and a half points on the road here. They didn't really have a very convincing win last week against Carolina.
01 Justin: Nope. I'm gonna take Chicago. Yep. Give me Chicago at home. Yeah, I like Green Bay. Avenge that loss. Yeah, I think Green Bay is doing great, but their defense is not. They've given up over 400 yards passing to both teams that they've played. Yeah, I like Chicago and I like, you know, their pressure schemes. I'm not a big believer in Cutler, but I'm a believer in Chicago at home with three points, three and a half. And here comes... Oh, by the way, now that we're like almost all the way through week three, did you notice that... The NFL purposely in week two and next week, week four, there are no scheduled division match ups. Uh, no. They did that looking ahead to potentially losing some weeks of their season. So there were no scheduled division matchups last week and there are none next week. And they did that because they were thinking about shortened seasons? Yeah. They could just take us two weeks out. To not lose division. They purposely put some weeks in there at the beginning of the season that didn't have division matchups. So they could just wipe them out. I guess, yeah. That's cool? Yeah. Anyway, I just realized that because we have a couple division matchups in a row with in San Diego, Kansas City. Green Bay Chicago and now Arizona going to Seattle This is I mean there well, there's a bunch of division matchups here in a row but And if NFC West I mean That's a bad division Arizona was still bad is what you're saying. Arizona's favored by three and a half on the road in Seattle. Just give me Seattle at home getting points against another bad team. Yeah, I'll take Arizona. I think Arizona's defense is better than Seattle. I don't think their defense is very good at all. They're actually ranked pretty highly right now. I don't think they're very good. They're a pickup. in the uh... that's fantasy yeah I don't think Seattle is very good I think Seattle is gonna go down at home I'll take Seattle I like Seattle home but I'll take Seattle home later three and a half against a bad team I'll take it I'm taking Arizona Alrighty uh Tampa hosts Atlanta Mmm this is a weird one to me I don't get this at all the line? Yep don't get it Ah, it's a- Do you get it? Yeah, I think it gives Atlanta a little respect for beating the Eagles and for being 13-3 last year. But they're favoring Tampa Bay? Yeah, but not by 3, by 1 and a half. But Tampa Bay has done what? Well, they've won. They've won a game. Yeah. And they lost to a 2-0 team. Alright, I see this as how well-sided. If you were saying like... If you were saying that they gave Atlanta no respect then Tampa will be favored by three but Tampa
01 Justin: This just looks more than likely beat Atlanta last year at home Tampa did pretty well last year. They're a decent team They have a good quarterback and you know what I'm picking Tampa. I mean, I'm picking Atlanta I just don't get this. I think I think Atlanta's a much much better team than Tampa Bay. Oh, they didn't look very good They didn't but they looked fine last week. They're both 1-1. And Tampa's home. So I don't think this line's that bad. I think it's off. So when it gets blown out, I'll be happy. Alright, and here comes the Sunday Night Game. Worst game of the week. Oh, sorry. I'm from Arizona at Seattle. This can't be the worst game. No, this is the worst game because it's so uneven. Like at least... Those are two bad teams in the score line. It's actually not San Diego, Kansas. You think San Diego, Kansas City versus Pittsburgh at Indy? Yeah, I guess. But the problem is this is the Sunday night game. Yeah, I hear you. This is the Sunday night game and it's prime time and they should really be able to flip this out. You know what? I'm not sure if like, do I like, I can't even decide, do I like the flexing or not? But I feel like if you're gonna do it, why not do it the whole season? Yeah, I guess they want to give people time to prep for it. No, because they don't give us any time anyway. It's the same rule. They give you 10 days. They should be able to flex. Let's do this crap. Because wouldn't it be cool if they flexed up? Chicago Green Bay. Yeah, flexed up. There we go. Or the Giants Philly. One or the other. Those are both Fox games. One of those two, you flex up. Anyway, so Pittsburgh's on the road. They're going to Indy. Indy looks terrible. The line is 10 and a half Pittsburgh's favorite by 10 and a half. I'll give 10 and a half to Indy. Yeah, I think Indy's going to have a moment where they're gonna stand up. Yeah, but it's not gonna be against Pittsburgh. It's probably not gonna be a Pittsburgh, but at home I think that's like your one chance. Like if they have a chance to stand up in this game. I don't know. I wonder how... I'm taking Pittsburgh. I'm just saying there's gonna be a game where they stand up and beat someone who they shouldn't beat. I just wonder how... how those fans are gonna react to watching such a shit product I think I throw like painter in there they will I think eventually have to I mean carrying the other thing is maybe another week Collins gets a little bit no no cuz that offense is not even something that they have the same weapons I mean yeah but it's not the same offense yeah it's a you can't run You know, we talked about last week, you took Brady off that team and they still won 11 games. What we do forget is that that was still a 5 game drop off from the year before. Right. And they won 16 games the previous year. So it's still 5 games drop off. Still a 5 game drop off. But did you average the next year where they probably won 14? It's still a 5 game drop off from one year to the next. Right. Fun. I was listening to some other podcast and... Cheater. No, I think it was like Aaron Schatz was talking, he's like from like some stack cruncher thing and he was on the Bill Simmons podcast and he was talking about how you could take Brady Light
05 Justin: and throw him in there and run the same offense. Because he's Brady Light. There's no such thing as Manning Light. There's no such thing. He was the offensive coordinator. He ran the offense. He was! He ran the offense. He called every play at the line of scrimmage and moved. There was no like... I'm trying to think of another player that liked him. There's nothing like him. Nothing like him. All right, well. But you could get a... you know... Brady light just a quarterback that could run a system doesn't that go against this is yet another thing against your argument that there's nothing Like this one, but there's like enough the guy you can just jump off the bench and when you love me It's not as good clearly. I mean Brady Brady to me is the best so far the drop-off has been Unbelievably hard. Yep, right, but I will say it's a I think it's a product of their system not being set up for disaster recovery, right and this is This is it. This is where's where's the DR plan? Where's gorgi? Was it gorgi Jim's sword sword? G? That's it It's on the Giants last year. All right, the Monday night game which currently has no line here. I didn't see a line anywhere Probably cuz it's Dallas home Romo not only Romo but miles Austin. I don't think it's playing. Nope. Does Brian might not play Felix Jones might not play Roamos might not play and that's their whole off. I think the romo is gonna play but that's where I wouldn't bet against Tony Roam. That's where the problem of this game is. It's like Okay, you play What are you gonna do? You're not Michael, but you're not gonna run the ball yourself like who are you gonna give it to? Please throw over there. Yeah, I just go with three touchdowns last week He's not playing. Yeah, you got the guy who scored the two touchdowns the week before he's not playing It's true like so I feel like the Washington defense can cover a tight end. So here's the thing. We got Dallas hosting Washington on a Monday night no line and Even with all that I'm picking Dallas I'm picking Dallas's defense. Why based on what based on just stepping up? They let San Francisco... Based on them just stepping up. Stepping up. Knowing that they have to win the game. That, I'm just, it's a gut. There's no rational thought to it. Well your Monday Night Gut is pretty bad. Yeah, I'm just picking Dallas. Just picking Dallas. Um, no I'm... Do we have a line for this somewhere else? I think it's like four and a half. Let's look. I know we're in a bunch of other pools. We are in a ton of other pools. Well, I'll give you my opinion while you look for that wonderful pool, and then we'll go onto our thrown picks. I'm picking Washington. I think Washington's gonna win this game. Uh, and I think- No, it's not on here. It's not even on that one? Down at the bottom? Oh, it's down at the bottom. You know where the money in that game usually are?
01 Justin: It's like broken out. Washington is getting 6 and 1.5. 6 and 1.5. So I'll take Washington, because I feel like I am getting sort of three points. OK. All right, let's go to the AFC East, will we? Yeah, let's do it. So let's go to our own. So we got the, we'll start by knocking two birds off of one stone. We got New England going to Buffalo. below. Buffalo, let's go buffalo! The 2-0 Buffalo Bills. Oh, I haven't written down my scores yet. No, me neither. The 2-0 Buffalo Bills go in or host the 2-0 New England Patriots. So the good thing here for us is that someone's going to be 2-1. The bad thing here for us is that someone's going to be 3-0. Now, if you ask me who I want to be 3-0, So. It's Buffetto. Because I don't want New England pulling out ahead of us. Let Buffalo get out there 3-0, 4-0. I don't give a fuck. Whatever. New England. Whenever New England could lose a game, that's what you want. Problem is... Problem is... I don't know. New England's looking really, really good. New England's favored by eight and a half. and in our spreads I'm picking Buffalo. I think it's gonna be a shootout but I think it will remain close and that eight and a half is too much and at the end of the day I feel as if New England's gonna win by seven. If we're gonna do this is gonna be another week I am either gonna go so far into the pit or I'm gonna come back and like go over you or I guess each other, so many. I actually feel the difference. Here's the thing about Buffalo. I'm not convinced. I'm not convinced about two things. I'm not convinced they are the offense who they say they are, right, that everybody's purporting them to be. And I'm not convinced that the defense of the Patriots is as bad as it's looked. I'm not convinced. And I think there's a point of which, and I've said this about that, That's it. Because it's about the Saints. I think there's a point at which there's too many smart people on the Patriots sidelines, you know, the head coaches, the defensive coordinators, whatever, that they can be embarrassed like that again. Okay. So I actually don't think it's going to be a shootout. I think it's going to be a good old... This is going to be last year. Buffalo New England game. If you didn't, if Buffalo weren't 2-0, here's the thing, if you were the first game of the season, what would you call the score to be? First game, you didn't see Buffalo, you didn't see any of this Buffalo winning two games and all that shit. If I didn't know? Yeah, but you knew Patriots were coming in, they were going to be Patriots from last year, you knew Buffalo was going to be the games from last year, you called this? I don't know, a lot. Yeah, so that's what I'm calling it. I think it's gonna be a lot of you're just gonna disregard what you've seen I'm I know I'm I think that New England's gonna score a lot of points I don't think they're gonna let Buffalo score a lot of points. I'm calling it 35 20 I'm going 37 30
00 Justin: Okay, you put that right in there. So you think it's gonna be still seven point seven point But not enough to cover the eight and a half. Right? Alrighty, let's go and it might be 37 23 with three and a half left kind of deal don't think they'll do it Buffalo is who they are well 37 23 would be right about your final score I just feel like they'll just punch one in at the end kind of deal maybe all right Miami goes to Cleveland the 0 and 2 Dolphins you know what I like them to win. I'm sticking with the Miami wins on the road, lose at home theory. It's done you well. I mean, it can't... I'm gonna stick with it. I feel like Miami for some... What's the line? For sake and reason can't win at home. Nope. But they can win on the road, I think Cleveland's favored, by two and a half. So horrible. I'm picking Miami to win this game. Cleveland hasn't really shown anything. They lost to Cincinnati in week one and they beat the Colts by like five. That's like crap. Right. Like crappy win. Against, right, one of them. So I would say give me Miami, 17-13. Yeah, I definitely agree. I think Miami. you know, the one guy, the one guy who I keep seeing do his amazing plays, you know, Brandon Marshall has just, again, I watch the Dolphins a little bit more than I watch other teams because it's on in the command center, so I'm sort of watching it. Yeah, I think they're gonna I don't think I'm going to go 0 and 3, which is basically the... you're almost done for the season. O-2 is like 12% chance you get to the playoffs. O-3 I think brings you down to like 4 chance. Like even the Giants when they won it, they went O-1 the third game. So O-3 is like, that just kicks you right in the nuts. I don't think they're gonna do that. I don't think Cleveland is that good. I think they're gonna get pressure on the quarterback. And that, you know, the defense travels, so. I say 2413 dolphins. And don't care at this point. Like, eh, win a game. Fine. Alright. I don't want them to be 0 and 6 going against us. How's that? Okay. Fair enough. So, I'm actually, cause we're right here, I'm gonna change my stutter to where we write this stuff down. To Phillip Rivers. Alright, onto the game of the century. Week. century year, millennium, millennia. The New York Jets go west to start a three game road trip. It's not really a road trip. Baseball you take road trips because you take a six game road trip and you're actually on the road for six days playing six games. A three game road trip, I mean this is three games over 21 days, I mean it's not like a road trip. It's not like you're going to Oakland and not- coming back is this the most difficult part of our schedule this year it might be I think I mean we when we were talking I think I had us losing two of these games nope you guys losing one of them yep just the Baltimore one yep all
04 Justin: right so yeah this might be a tough stretch I don't think this Oakland is Is the tough stretch? It's just a road game? It's just in a place that we've lost before. Yeah, but that was under a whole different regime. Traditionally we've lost before. We've been beaten there in the playoffs before. It's a place that... Under different regimes. I totally agree. This is a new jet. And the time we played before, we shut them out. They didn't score a point two years ago when we played them. They have some weapons. They're a little dangerous. Diermaq Fadon's excellent. They... They have all these guys on offense that are hurt that are I mean they're they're hard to They're hard to probably game plan for because you don't know who like with the Jets on Defense you say all right who's Rebus gonna cover and who's Cromartie gonna cover? That's like The game plan like who's Rebus gonna go over there and shut down like who's the guy that needs to be shut down Who's the Andre Johnson? Who's the Brandon Marshall? Right? you know, who do we shut down? There's no guy on Oakland like that. It's Darren McFadden and then Whoever happens to be out there, right? So I think this week we'll see a lot more Reavis plays one side, Kromarti plays the other and whoever happens to go over there happens to go over there And if one guy starts doing well, they'll put Reavis on there. Yeah, it'll be that kind of thing like the Des Brian but but also it's You know this guy Demerius Moore last week has 150 yards and a touchdown against the Bills after not touching the ball in week one. Big pickup on fantasy, a lot of people jumped on him and claimed. And it's because Jacoby Ford and Lewis Murphy and Darius Haver Bay, they were all, none of them played. Right. Their first three receivers did not even play. Neither did Kevin Boss. Are you a Jason Campbell lover or hater? I like Jason Campbell coming out of college. I really liked him at Auburn. I thought he was going to be really good. Then he went to Washington and never got a chance to play under really the same staff ever. Like every year he got to play under a different offensive system and coach? Part of that's chicken and egg. they were doing so poorly that they kept getting rid of their coaches. So it's not like... But they made some bad hires too. I mean, they hired Jim Zorn as their offensive coordinator before they hired a head coach. Then they couldn't find a head coach, so they just made Jim Zorn the head coach. I mean, that's not on Jason Campbell. just pathetic. And then Shanahan just decided I don't want this guy rather go with McNabb for a year which was probably a mistake. I think Jason Campbell's a professional quarterback. He's adequate. There's nothing special about him. He's probably in the 32 starters. He's probably in the 20 to 25 range maybe or maybe you can say like the 23 to 28 range he's not in the
03 Justin: bottom five he's certainly not in the top five right okay now he's got a good arm but again that that game is gonna be all about slowing down Darrick McFat right don't let him run on you for like 15 yards at a pop and no screen passes for 20 yards at a pop Those are gonna be the big, that's gonna be the big challenge. Keys to the castle. That's my key to the castle. We forgot to do, but. We do, well there's mine. All right. So my score. Well let's have a little bit of injuries. Well we already started, mangled. Yeah, well we didn't talk about it completely. Mangled. I don't think he should go. And here's what he said he should. I don't think he should. He has not practiced one lick this week. He doesn't need to practice. The other guy has, this rookie has. And if you said he goes but then doesn't, you know, he's an all-pro center, I want him to be back full, because the next two games I want him there for. So if it's like 50-50 this game, give this game up. I need him at Baltimore, right? nada right I need him against the Patriots against Wolf or can fucking Haynes worth so this game no it's fine let the rookie in there we'll do lots of moving out of the pocket like I rather take if he's even close don't play this game be back for the game even a little bit better than you were the week before what do you think that's fair right like I'd love to see him play I want to see him play I love the guy I want to see him play but like Those two games are coming up. We need Kallpro Center. We don't need rookie. And if he's close, then throw rookie in this week and let him come back. So some other guys, San Antonio Holmes, he'll probably play. Yeah, I think, I don't know if this is what he does. Eric Smith, he'll probably play. He'll play. I don't think anybody else. Hunter's out and, uh, um, what's his face? Someone else is going to help. The hunter's out for a while. Yeah, I know. But when he gets up and he does his thing, he... This is where we miss hunter. Right. This is where... Well, they've been talking about moving... If it gets bad, they're going to move... Slauson? Slauson into the center. Center, into your toss-out. And into the toss-out. Why don't they just do that? Why? Yeah. Because you get... Because Dukas will get freaking much... The cows can't be worse than this rookie center. I don't know, I'm not on the practice field with him. Who cares? If he's good enough to go. Alright, whatever. I'd rather have a guy who's at least played some time in the preseason and gotten into games and stuff. Then have the cows out there? Guarding against Crushers Dukas is almost killed Sanchez like four times. So what you're saying is you'd rather have this rookie guy out there than Dukas. Yeah, really Yeah, really. Yeah, then you may as well not even have Dukas on the team Well at this point it's looking like that's the way it's been. Oh, you don't do that with offensive lineman
02 Justin: I'm giving like four years. Good. You need some more because that guy has missed more assignments in the two games I can't see how that would be worse than having this rookie guy you have you not seen them come through him like have I ever seen this rookie guy play yeah I saw him play for like three quarters last week and you know what he wasn't any good no he had a lot of like false star penalties that were his fault let guys run him over fine you're saying it's worse than that yeah just don't know you're wrong don't get you're wrong you're wrong Well, this guy cannot be better than... It's not... it's not Dukas is better than him because it's not a swap one-to-one. It's not... it's not center for center. Well it is. It's... it's Slauson going in there at center and saying, would Slauson be better than this guy? It's losing a guard. And it's saying, is Slauson really all that good anyway? I... listen, you're probably... I can't run the ball for shit! You're probably smarter than every... coach on the New York Jets. No, you're definitely right. And the end tank bomb. I don't get it. I don't see why they would not do that. Well, I think if shit goes bad they will, but that's not the first choice. Well, whatever. Here's my final score. Final score. Take it, you bitch. 26-16. Wow. course I think 28 17 and I'm gonna say for Sanchez I'm gonna throw oh I hate doing this I will do it no you don't do it don't do it doing it 298 298 yards yep 298 is gonna get it he's not gonna hit 300 298 two touchdowns One pick. He rushes for 15 and I think we're gonna see another great game and it doesn't tell her that's a little bit of me just projecting. Alright so I'm gonna throw Sanchez out there for 210. 210? One touchdown, no interceptions. I think the running game gets going. I would love to see that. I don't know how behind this rookie center But they're gonna figure something out and I think the I think that the the top receiver will be Will be dusting color and I'm also predicting and it'll be like a guy in the middle So I'm predicting that one of these reverses that they keep throwing out there. I don't read the crow reverse It's run once, they ran it once. And they've gone twice. They faked it once. Right, well that's the point. They run the play once with a fake, once a real... Will it be Jeremy Curley? This time it'll work. It'll actually move the ball as opposed to just kind of going... Meh. I don't know. That's really... They're gonna run it once, I mean. Well, you run a fake and then you run the real one of the play. They run it once. Like they actually gave it to Cromartie one total. I agree. I'm saying they're gonna get some either they run the same play as a fake and they move they get some yardage off I'm talking like good yards like 15 yards type of thing. All right. Well, that's it that wraps us up
