13 Justin: Get used to it. It's always going to be... Can't wait! Jake: I guess, longest running New York Jets podcast on the entire interwebs. I'm Jake, I'm joining me, fresh from Baltimore where we both kinda got sick, or I got reseck, and you definitely got sick. I got sick. Uh, Justin. Sick of life in Baltimore. Justin, how you doing Justin? I learned a new word in Baltimore. What's your word, so we have to tell, this is a huge. Justin: story. We don't have a lot of time. Sorry in advance. This is not gonna be the longest podcast in the world. This is gonna be a full 48 minute podcast. Let me tell you the fans in Baltimore for the most part. Very nice. Very nice. We just happened to be sitting in a row just above probably the two biggest assholes in the entire universe. And for those for those people sitting in section 418. Row 4- 4- 4- 4- Section 440, row 14 seats like 16 and 17. If you guys are listening, fuck you, assholes. I'm sorry. Cause they were terrible. But the one good redeeming factor about this one fine gentleman. was that, he kept called Sanchez, suck Chez. Every time you'd throw the ball on the ground, or throw an interception, or fumble for a touchdown, he'd turn around, stick his two middle fingers in my face, and yell, suck Chez glared at Rachael, like he wasn't another human being. Like he was a robot programmed to be an asshole. Like... the restaurant dicks. Jake: So we had a great trip down there. It was fun. Again, celebrating big boy here. It was a birthday. Couldn't pull out the wind. But otherwise, had a pretty good time down there. Went to a brickies. Justin: Yes, went to a brickies for crabs and shrimp. Went to a bar called Pickles. To watch the one and four clock games. and then headed to the stadium, which the stadium is really nice. Yep. I thought it was really nice. I thought they have, they have a couple of really cool things going for them. Number one, the Ray Lewis intro is the best thing ever in the universe. Jake: It's pretty cool even if you hate the Ravens. Justin: It doesn't matter if you hate Ray Lewis, it doesn't matter if you hate the Ravens. That intro is pretty good. Flippin' awesome. Yep. You can say fucking on this podcast. Fucking awesome. The second thing that they do that I want the Jets to adopt and any team should really adopt is before the game Right after the Ray and whatnot and then you know the defense gets in a little huddle Just like most teams they get in a little huddle and they get each other pumped up except in this case
00 Justin: They put a camera on Ray Lewis with a mic and you can hear what he's saying Oh, it's so good Right and I don't know why the Jets don't do that two other things that I came out of that they Jake: They do the whole moving the chains thing they have yeah, they have cool things little things that they're yeah Justin: And we have the JTS. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yeah, we have the just fan driven Yeah, I mean he started that that was not a that was not a stadium thing at all still still Jake: You know and I think the thing that I'm surprised about and I think I've seen this now on the more defensive teams when we talked about this on the way back where we record where we didn't Justin: record the suck chest podcast. We were gunna record the suck chest podcast. We did do it. Jake: Which was that that I was impressed and again our section was a little on the nutsy side and I think things on a Sunday night or Sunday Monday night are probably the worst. People have longer time to drink. Even Sunday is probably the worst because you have people who are all day I didn't drink it. I didn't just drink. Justin: We saw people tailgating out there like at noon. Yeah noon starting. So and the girls going beers in the hand Jake: Yeah, it was awesome. But anyway, but they Interesting be allowed on first down they get real loud as soon as their defense gets on Yeah, so get really loud every play that I would like to bring that back to our city Is that when when things get when? I like getting a lot on third, and I think we always get a lot on third, but you know if it's a big thing a big moment It certainly helps their defense their defense was dominating so Justin: They were loving every moment of it all right. Let's talk a little about the game. It's the worst game ever worst game ever Jake: I mean two really good defensive performances. I rewatch the highlights this morning painfully I finally got around to doing it actually on the way into work and You know a couple of things that I noticed just a few Really, that game, I mean I know this is why I'm not so worried. Here's my why I'm not so worried. I know, you know, every stage is jumping off. Give it to me. Give me the reasons. Bullet point them. If you're going to suck, suck hard. Mmm. Right? Go all out. Have everything go against you. Have every fumble, every hit, every call for a fumble, have it all go against you, because sometimes games are really just You're gonna get clobbered and you know what we just got covered. We got our asses handed to us I don't think that Sanchez is that character. I don't think that's the way he plays I just think we got our asses handed to us and here's the thing. There's an issue with that. No, no, no Justin: No, cuz yes, it happens. No, but here's the problem. Here's the problem with that. Yeah Let you continue after I give you a response to that, okay there was a point in this game where we're down 10 right and we got a sack fumble on Flacco down at the Colts or the Colts Jesus Christ we're pointing the Colts Baltimore Colts sorry when we were down Wow I'm not even old I'm 30 the 30 when we were down on the Ravens 25 yeah that's where we got that ball mm-hmm at
01 Justin: the worst that's three right And now you're down seven. Right. Instead, pick six on the next fucking play. But that's not getting clobbered. That was in the third quarter. No, I understand. Jake: No, it wasn't. Yeah, it was. At halftime, we were down 20-something. I would just watch the recap. It was in the third quarter. Here's the thing. It doesn't matter. We literally just got. beat. We got beat defensively, we couldn't get anything going on offense, and we got beat. And we had a lot of things go against us. Again, just, you know, the fumbles that get recovered and picked up and turned down. The first play that... It just was a game that you just come out flat and you get your ass handed to yourself. Here's my concern for... for Sanchez is that, and we're up against the number one defense by the way. Baltimore is the number one defense in the league right now. They most definitely are. My concern for Sanchez was after that first hit he never rebounded. Like he never came back. Not after the first quarter, not after the second quarter, not after the third quarter. I don't even know on the way home he might have thrown three picks and gotten fumbled and sacked, but he never rebounded. He never got back and the game. And my concern is, if you know that a quarterback can do that, you know, it happens. I've seen Tom Brady sacked at the first play and all the greatest quarterbacks. They generally rebound. They come back, they say fuck it. And they come back and they play better. Or they play. And they don't keep making mistakes. His thing that's becoming to be a tendency when I was third year. As tense as if he starts to dig the hole, he doesn't dig himself out of it, he just digs it deeper. And so if I'm a defense and I'm playing against Sanchez now I'm saying, let's fucking make him make one mistake because we can make him make one, we can make him pile in on himself. And so I want him mentally to get to that point where... And I know the offensive line wasn't bailing him out, the running game wasn't bailing him out, people were dropping passes, it just wasn't working. Justin: The game wasn't working. But here again, it wasn't as bad as you're making it seem. They were down 27-17 at halftime. They cause a turnover, they get the ball at the 20-something, and they have a chance to cut it to 7, if not to 3. And the only score in the second half was at peg 6. The only score in the second half. Jake: The good news of this game is that our defense played very well. They just didn't play as well as the other defense. Justin: I think our defense played phenomenal. They just, their offense didn't play as bad as our offense. Jake: They had one more, the two touchdowns that they're up by, they had one more offensive That's it. because we had zero and they had one more pick six run back for touchdown. That's right. That's the game. Oh they had two fumbled sixes. Whatever that is. But that's the game is one more offensive and whatever. If we had had one
00 Jake: offensive and had taken that one and converted it, it would have been there. Justin: So they also were able to, I mean their offense played. hair better than ours. They were able to run the ball in the third and fourth quarter when they had to and just take time off the clock. It didn't matter because we knew as soon as our offense got on the field that that was more of a threat for them to score than for us to score. the fact we were ruining the moment that the offense got back in the field. It was fun when the defense was out there because they were playing well. Here's the other thing for you Jet fans. I'm going to be positive poly for today as well. I don't think you've Jake: been positive poly. Yes I have. I've been a negative Nancy. No, I've said, and I said this team is a good rebound team. Listen Nancy, you've been a negative. We're a good rebound team. Well we were supposed to rebound and win this game. We're a good rebound team. This team will come back and we'll rebound. I'm predicting right now. Obviously I'm going to pick the just a win. Don't be doing your drone picks right now. I'm doing it right now. Next two geeks we win both. We go into the bye four and two. Sure. Done. Done. Let's get Justin: going. Let's get going. That's enough. Give me your fool of the game. Hold on. There was an injury. a big one. Starting outside linebacker Brian Thomas is out for the season. And replaced by... well probably Lesterman but Maven's gonna get some time. I got called out on Twitter by some someone. Ha! Who is this fucker? Big L, Big Lonk? Big Lonk. Whatever you are Big Lonk. Listen. Rick Clemens. I was not- no no no what did he say to you? He said to me- gotta read it- listen to last week's podcast way off on Mabin. Guy looked decent and hustled And say he wasn't gonna look decent or hustled. I said he wouldn't play. So you're wrong? Wait, shut up. What I said was he wouldn't play unless someone got hurt. And what happened? Wait, wait, do you actually? I was actually absolutely correct. No, no, no. I was 100% factually correct. Jake: No, not factually correct. Do you know at the point where he got hurt and when he played, can you actually know that? I'm gonna do that. You do that. I'm gonna go back and do that. Justin: I didn't see number 51 on the field before number 58 came off. You do that. Let's give your- You know who I did see on the field? Number 25 on defense. That was awesome. First of all, if we were giving away nights for the game. 25 would get it. Jake: Joe McKnight. He would be the McKnight of the game. He gets the losing McKnight of the game because a run back for a touchdown, 100-cent yard return. Justin: At what point do they get to say, hey Joe, you've been making plays. They've obviously been practicing with him on defense because he was on the field a couple times, caused that pick six. Harris he was the one who was blitzing and got to Faco at what point do they say let's just give this guy the ball this week this week you're gonna see it deserves a couple times he deserves he deserves some so fool I'm gonna pick shoddy I'm gonna pick a coach I very rarely picked a coach yeah but that was
00 Justin: piss poor pathetic like take some responsibility. Sanchez had to throw the ball 35 times and really they were only down 10. You didn't need to throw the ball there. If you just would have ran it and tried to get that running game going which you can't get going right now and this is the coach's fault. If Sean Green's not doing it... If LT's going for three for negative three, you got another guy. Let's try and get something going He's in the middle of the game, which was reactionary on a bad Sanchez play You know that snap was not a bad better that he should have caught it though You should have absolutely call it hit his hands you should have called it big fucking hands. Catch them all catch the ball I've seen them catch them one handed catches on Catch that ball and then they made a reactionary play put Vlogt Duc Ultimately not a fucking kills Mark Sanchez on like the next play, which gave up seven points. That's all shoddy. Call in the shots, shoddy, poor job, piss poor, run the ball down ten, get it to down seven and you're in the fucking game because you're kicking the ball off to them and you can maybe score on defense. All around bad. I know who you're picking. Who am I picking? The suck-chez. Yeah, I gotta pick suck-chez. Jake: I mean, it was just a horrific, horrific game. and I know Again, the reason I'm being positive poly coming up is we're getting mangled back. So Daphne's been practicing all week. Justin: It's amazing that one guy could have such an impact. Well, they weren't really running the ball with him in there, but I feel like he's a stable force. Oh my god. If we're getting him back, that's going to be a huge thing. But yes, he got it. We're also playing the perfect team. We're playing the 32nd ranked defense who cannot rush the passer. Jake: They're only 18th against the run though. That's sugarcoating it. They're the worst defense in the league. It's great. And I think our defense is good enough to slow them down, to keep them under 30. Here's what I... Are we going to move on to next week? What are we doing? Justin: Let's go. Alright, so we made our fools suck Chez and Shadi. Shadi sucks. Offense sucked. Alright. Alright. You know, we can't do fantasy shit this week. Why didn't you're not even on this I'm not even on your agenda. You put an agenda on here Thank you So what are we doing fantasy we can't really do fantasy we don't have the time we have the time Who would you pick in your stutter dead last week? Jake: Okay, who did I pick? I don't know, you told me. I picked someone that did okay but didn't. Probably did better than me. Calvin Johnson. Oh my god, I did well. You're killing an Anus. Justin: You're killing an Anus. Oh my god, I did well. I had a bad week in fantasy because Andre Johnson got hurt and he was my number one. First round. pick. So I'm hurting there because he's out probably gonna be a couple weeks. So I'm hurting there. The bye weeks are starting this week so get ready for that folks. The bye weeks are starting. The guys are gonna be out of your lineups that are normally in your lineups. I'm starting to at three and one
01 Justin: feel a little discouraged. because the injury bug caught me. Um, one in three. I had the injury bug hit me the first three. You made a big trade today. I made a big trade. Tell them the trade. Oh, I have to approve it since I was the co-k You're so good. Tell them the trade. Tell them the trade. Alright. I believe you trade rape somebody. I think I trade rape him. Um, let me find... This is the guy. So this is the guy that's 0 and 4. You're 1 and 3. He's 0 and 4. Right. You are getting... Well, tell them I'm giving up first. Alright. You are giving up. up. Frank Gore, you know, I don't even ruined it. I was gonna say here's the trade and Got the better of it. Okay. Well, just read out the fans. All right, so you're giving up and Quam Bolden Yep, Frank Gore. Yeah, it's handcuffed Kendall Hunter. Yep and cam new and Camden All right, I picked up off a waiver. I like is irrelevant. No, it's not a realm. It isn't it is totally relevant No, it's not a row and draft him Great, who's on your team? And it came next phenomenal. Yeah, I think you win that I did I think I did the I'm getting better for this year Jake: He is going down. I'm basically getting I'm getting a wide receiver Justin: Oh, here's the thing in this trade. Yeah, you got the two best players in the trade, right? You got Chris Johnson. You got a king. So my pick of the week Oh one of your new guys. Yeah, Chris Johnson. Yeah, I picked one I picked two quarterbacks and a running back and a wide receiver Okay, so you're picking Chris Johnson. I'm thinking a running back as well. I'm gonna pick Chris Johnson I'm going back to back running backs because these are Only my second right back. I'm picking Ryan Matthews Okay, I like Ryan. Matt. Isn't he on your team? Yes. Okay, so so I He's been phenomenal. He's on pace to have a thousand rushing and a thousand receiving yards his stuff got a good season going Jake: So yeah, I'm picking Chris Johnson against the what used to be a very good defense But what has not been a very good defense anymore? Justin: Pittsburgh Steelers. Yeah, I don't like Pittsburgh this year. I don't think they're very good. They are not very good. All right, so Jake: What next all right, let's do pick them For those of you who don't know, we run Pick'Em, we pick every week, every game, gets the spread, or with the spread, and we leave out the AFC East because we do another segment, which will come up in a moment, called Throne Picks, where we do all the AFC matchups which are on 2 this week. We keep track of all this, and we play against other people. Justin: Who did well last week? New York SAC Exchange did well last week, but 10. You and I tied with 7. So I'm still two ahead of you. We both suck. This just... Truth truthfully. We're both absolutely awful. I'm 26 and 34 and you are
00 Justin: 24 and 36 so I'm two games ahead of you. You're one game out from being in last place Yes, the green machine is at the top at 32 and 28. This whole league sucks because 32 and 28 It's not it's a tough It relenting. It's been a tough set of spreads. Yeah, it's not easy. This week I'm going awesome. Let's get to this week's set of games leaving out the AFC East. So we'll start with the Colts, still winless, versus the now 1-3 Kansas City Chiefs. The Colts are home. The Colts are favored by 2-1-2. And you know what? I'm taking them. Kansas City's not going to win two games in a row. And Indy looked good against decent teams the last two weeks. This is the toilet bowl of the week. Oh yeah, this is the worst game of the week. Thank God it's not a Monday, the Sunday night game. And so could have been because these are... Kansas City won their division last year. Two playoff games. Yeah, two playoff teams. Jake: I just don't believe in Indianapolis to crush anybody. So I think if they win, they won't win by more than a bit. So I'm actually the spread is a bit you know I don't think they're gonna win by more than that and I'm gonna go Towards the side of I think you think Kansas City's gonna win two in a row He had the painter what do you think? Indianapolis is gonna win with painter why not they almost beat the box they almost beat the Steelers and here comes painter in his second game Justin: Out now. It's gonna presumably be a little better than his first game. I don't know. We disagree. Give me Casey. We disagree All right, Minnesota. This might be the worst thing hosting Arizona. Minnesota's favored by two and a half. Arizona I thought got host against the Giants last week. I thought they had that game. I thought that one that Victor Cruz call was incorrect. I thought that it wasn't looking at it over and over again. He wasn't giving himself up. He tripped over his own feed. He wasn't tackled. He was not tackled. He wasn't even touched. But when he got up, he went back to the line. Yeah, but he didn't get up and like give the football to anybody. He got- He just got up to go back to the line. But he tripped. He thought he was touched. Yes! Right. If you think you're touched, that is very different than I'm giving myself up. I agree. And the rule states, you kind of have to give yourself up. I don't know what that means. What do you do, roll over? I think what you do is you kneel down on a knee and throw the ball to the official. You just gave yourself up. Not throwing the ball to the official. If someone picks it and runs it back for touchdown. I accidentally tripped and thought I was touched, so I'm just going to leave the ball on the ground. The way that Arizona went after the ball, the way that he went back after the ball. Woo! Whatever. Too much time spent on this game. Anyway. That's the alarm. Give me Arizona. They're pissed. Give me Arizona and the two and a half. No idea why Minnesota would be favored over anybody at this point. I don't care where they play. I actually will take Minnesota. I'll take Minnesota at home. Good. Chalk that up. A victory for me. There you go. Alright. The Giants, who I won't go into the whole diatribe again because you just did, are hosting Seattle. Another one. The foursites are such bad games. Seattle coming all the way across. Seattle coming all the way across. Here's the deal.
00 Justin: Who's starting for Seattle? I can't even tell. Tomorrow's Jackson. They're losing. They are losing. Yeah. I don't think they're going to lose by 10 though. Me neither. I think this is one of those, the Giants are going to have a little bit of a letdown and win at the end type of thing. and Seattle for some the Giants play down to their competitors all the time so I still think the Giants are going to win like I said I think the Giants are going to go six and two and then seven Jake: and nine give me Seattle this could be a 21-13 game three tests that's why I'm going to pick Seattle because I could see them winning I could see that being the score and it looks like it's like a blowout It's not 10. It might be 21, it might be 21, uh, 21-10 with, with... Or 21-7. And they'll need to kick a field goal and touchdown to win or something like that. So they'll go for the field goal, but then they won't get the ball back. So I see, you know, 20, give me, give me Seattle. Justin: 10 points is a lie. Yeah, it is. It's a little much. Alright, so... Jake: Although I do have the Giants defense, though, if I'd like them to keep them very low. Justin: Alright, so, Pittsburgh hosting... I mean... Tennessee this game was off early because the Rothlisberger's foot presumably So I think he's gonna play he always plays you know, he's a tough motherfucker. He is I don't like Pittsburgh. He's gonna hurt. It's my favorite by three and a half here I don't why why no respect for Tennessee Tennessee is a good home Yeah, but three and a half is like Tennessee's not as good as Pittsburgh point is saying Pittsburgh is better than Tennessee. Pittsburgh is no good. Tennessee is a surprisingly good defense. Very good defense. So, yeah. Hasselback's been a very nice surprise for them. Give me Tennessee. Give me Tennessee and Chris Johnson. Yeah, why not? Alright, next game in New Orleans is going to Carolina to your new quarterback or your former quarterback. My former quarterback. You lost to Cam Newton. New Orleans favored by six and a half. Carolina has been this like back door cover team, right? I mean they're three in one or they're one in three, excuse me, they're one in three. And they basically get sort of like beaten pretty bad and then their offense just starts whizzing the ball around. With that said, I think New Orleans has way too much fire power for them. I'm going to take New Orleans. Jake: I'm going to take Carolina because I think that while that is the case, I think this will be a blowout. I mean, there will be back and forth. Justin: A blowout is not what you mean. Jake: A shootout? A shootout. out. It would be a shootout. So it's gonna be close. Justin: No, I just think it's gonna be a lot of points. A lot of points. Jake: But I could see Norolines winning by the 7th at the end. By 13 and then it ends up being like 6. Justin: By 7. I can see it. Jake: So you like New Orleans then? Sorry, sorry, sorry. I think it's going back and forth. I'm gonna take care of Atlanta. Who do you like? They're at home. I'm gonna take care of Atlanta. Spit it out. Carolina. All right. Norolines has not blown anybody away this year. Justin: They killed Chicago, didn't they?
00 Justin: I don't think they get the close. I don't think that was close at all. I think when you win by 20, that's not considered close. That's pretty close. All right. So Jacksonville is hosting Cincy. And Jacksonville is favored by 2 and 1.5. That's a crazy line. Crazy line. Cincy's got a way better defense than anyone gives him credit for. And that is a rookie quarterback. Give me the Bengals on the road. Yep, I'll take the Bengals. Two rookie quarterbacks. So anything goes. Houston is hosting the Raiders. The Raiders coming off a loss to New England. Houston coming off a big win against Pittsburgh. They really needed that. That solidifies them. The line is 6. They're missing Andre Johnson. The line is still 6. I originally picked Houston, but now that I'm looking at this game, I'm changing it. Jake: Yeah, I'm gonna stick with Houston. I think they're at home in the dome. Oakland coming off a bad loss. Cohen halfway across the country or down. I just don't think they're gonna be in this game right now. I think Houston has a good enough defense to stop them. Six is too many. Alright, I'm picking Houston. Justin: Alright, let's go to four o'clock. San Francisco, this is a good game. Three in one San Frans- hosting 3-1 Tampa. Good game. San Francisco is favored by 3, so essentially a wash just given the home team 3. I think Tampa is better. I think Tampa is a better team, so I'm gonna take Tampa in the points. I agree. I think Tampa is Jake: going to... I think Tampa is gonna win this game. I don't think San Francisco is as Justin: good as... I think they're 3 and 1, they had some pretty good wins. I mean, they just beat Philly. So that's a good win for Philly. Philly's 1 and 3. Jake: If I didn't tell you they were the Philly who hired all those people that Philly, I'd said that the 1 and 3 filled up the Eagles. Justin: Philly's still a good team regardless. They won the division last year. And how do the Colts do? I mean, you know, people can win the division that sucks. Yeah, but Philly has had a history of being a very good team, as have the Colts. But the Colts have paid Manning and now they don't. So that's a whole different story. All right. Jake: And to be honest, the Eagles shot themselves last week. Sure. They fumbled. Justin: They missed two field goals. If you don't miss two chip shot field goals, you win the game. That's it. Two field goals, a fumbled by Ronnie Brown, trying to throw the ball with being tackled. That was like an Andy Reid classic. Sort of like the classic Andy Reid throw this game in the toilet. Classic. And he's a good coach, but... So give me time of the day, I watch them play. He loses games for that team. Jake: Frank Gore seems to be running it better. I just traded it away, so I'm sure he'll run for 17 touchdowns. That's a guarantee. But, uh, but, um... Josh Freeman. Not bad. I like Josh Freeman. He has a good arm, and he seems, and, you know... He's very poised. He can run it in when he wants to. He sure can. Justin: Alright, moving along. 4.15. So this is a, uh... I guess... I don't know if this is national or I guess CBS has the double header this week. So I'm assuming the the check game will be the national game. Alright, so San Diego is on the road in Denver.
03 Justin: Denver? Yeah, Denver no good. Denver's no good. Don't know why it's not four lines. Me neither. Give me San Diego. San Diego's giving four. Maybe they're just thinking it's still early in the season, but this is right around when San Diego... historically has put the gas pedal down and said, all right, we're going to now win six in a row. We have a lot of injuries to deal with. Gates, Jackson, they still got weapons. Rivers can do it no matter who it is. So give me San Diego. Jake: I'll take San Diego. Justin: All right, now we're going eight o'clock because we're skipping the game of the century. So Sunday night, great game. We actually have two really good prime time games this week which is the first time in a while I think this Sunday night's better than the Monday night I think they're both really good I don't know which one's better Detroit and Chicago that's a great game I just don't know why you're not excited I think that's a great game let's start with Sunday so we have Green Bay on the road Green Bay looks unstoppable. Aaron Rodgers did something that I don't think anyone's ever done last year, last week. He threw for 400 yards, threw for four touchdowns, ran for two more. That's insane. So Green Bay is on the road in Atlanta. Green Bay is giving five and a half in Atlanta. Atlanta is good at home. And I think that five and a half is too much. I think that's a game that could be a two point game, a three point game, either way. I don't think Green Bay will win by five and a half. They might win, not by five and a half. So give me Atlanta. Jake: Oh, this is the rematch of the playoffs last year. Is this the wild card week? There are Green Bay. Or no, second week. Second week, we're at divisional, where Green Bay went into Atlanta and lit them up. Yup. So. So. But here's the thing, I think Green Bay is a better team than they were last year when they were playing off. And I think Atlanta is a worse team than they are when they went to the playoff. That's likely true as well. So then, I don't see why the outcome shouldn't be, but I'm gonna take Green Bay. Good logic. Justin: That's really correct. Okay, well that, using that logic, I feel like you're gonna pick the Pats later, but alright. Umm, no, we've won that game last year. We also lost 45-3, but anyway. Alright, so Monday night. Detroit hosting the undefeated Detroit Lions the for no undefeated Detroit Lions Let's our hosting luck be a lady. It's gotta run out sometimes they at this point they they're the team of destiny Jake: They have had two team. They've had two games one. They shouldn't have won. They have now won Justin: 12 games in a row if you include the four yeah, yeah, yeah, and the dolphins lost eight games in a row That whole that the whole like you span the whole summer thing doesn't work They won four games at the end of last year. They won their first four this year. They're playing very well Yep, their offense is is a pretty well oiled machine particularly when they get down by 21 points.
00 Justin: 24 points and Tony Romo gives them the game. This is a game where Detroit is home favored by five and a half and I'm picking Chicago. I'm picking Chicago too. Jake: I think Chicago's got a good enough defensive scheme to keep them from pulling off 21 points. Justin: Here's the thing, Calvin Johnson has scored two touchdowns in all four games this year. Jake: Can you keep Calvin Johnson off the scoreboard? 14 points, sure. I just don't think that they're gonna be able to come back and win. I think this will be a more normal scoring game. I still think they'll lose. Right. Justin: So I like Chicago getting the 5.5. And now we move on to the AFC East. There's only two games this week. We got Buffalo. Is Buffalo winning? How did we do last week? Oh, how did we do? Alright, so I had Cincinnati beating Buffalo. I was correct I lost I had New England beating Oakland that was correct I had San Diego beating Miami that was correct that's correct and we both lost the journey Jake: both was just so you went to I went three more and I went to do all right well Justin: what are we gonna do this week all right so it's it's Philly at Buffalo okay you wrote this backwards but that's okay that's okay it's Philly at Buffalo and I cannot see here. I can't see both of these these outcomes. I can't see Philly being one in four and I can't see Buffalo being four in one. So something to tie. Essentially no essentially something's got to give here and I feel like it's got to be Philly winning. Philly's gotta I mean if they go one in four That means they're done. Because in that division, they're done and won it for. Redskins winning. Redskins are winning. Giants are winning. Cowboys are off. Now granted, I stick to my statement of the Giants, six and two, seven and nine. I stick to that. And the Cowboys are not going to have this kind of play all year long. They are a better team than that two and two. I feel like they're a better team than that and the Redskins have their shit together at the moment if Philly goes one in four at their dunners and Buffalo can't be four in one. They're not beating this Philly team at this time of the year It's just it's a shootout. I like it Philly 38 Buffalo 33 Really? Oh so high Very high. Yeah, I don't. Very high. I don't. I mean, I don't have a lot. By the way, Philly's favored by two and a half. Okay, I would take Philly in that situation then. I have. Because, ooh, yeah, I would. Jake: Again, I think there's too much talent on their defense to have that have this sort of just be lit up by these teams that weren't very good last year. Again. Yeah, I don't know how you give up. 24 to San Francisco. I don't think they're gonna, I think again, there's things that happen in that game, and this is gonna be what I'm gonna talk about in the next segment. There's things that happen in that game that I don't think will happen again and again. So, I'm gonna go with 20-20, Buffalo loses, maybe it's a little bit of Homerism, because I really don't want them going 4-1. No, me neither.
00 Justin: Alright, so the game of the century, the game of the millennium, the game, this really is the game of the year so far. The New York Jets head back to Gillette Stadium to take on the hated New England Patriots, who we bounced out of the playoffs last year. We played there twice last year. they kicked our butts once and we stopped it to him the second time. The line here by the way, New England favored by nine. A lot of points. I feel like this is one of those games where Rex Ryan shows what he's made of. This is not the game that you want to see as the third game of a three game sort of road trip air quote trip no this is not that third game that you want to see when you've lost the first two this is not that game you do not want to see this game because this is a tough son of a bitch opponent but that's what's gonna get him motivated the fact that they just got their butts kicked you're right bad. There's gonna be a whole different game plan on offense. You're gonna see that ground and pound. They are going to run the ball and they're gonna just keep running it. Don't get frustrated at home when you're sitting there and it's third and eight because they ran the ball in first down and second down and they run it on third down. Don't get mad. It's gonna happen. Guaranteed that happens. That same scenario happens. two to three times. They're going to establish that run because if they don't, they can't win. That's it. That's what the team is built on. The defense, on the other hand, is going to have a challenge because Tom Brady's on fire. They're on fire. But I feel like two keys. Reavis has to cover Walker. It's a given. He has to. No one else can cover him. And I know that that's not where Rebus plays, but you know what, if you're the best in the league, you gotta do it. If I told him to cover... Go cover Wes Walker. Jake: ...conquering the team, you should cover Wes Waker. Justin: So I feel like that will... I mean, Wes Walker has 40 catches this year. That's absurd. Without Wes Walker, this team has not won half those games. Well, they're without their other tight end, and that's the other key, is Gronkowski can't. Because we can't cover tight ends. Right. That's the last year thing. I don't know if that's a this year thing too. Who has lit us up in the tight end? The last four games. Joe Flacco completed how many passes in this game? He completed 10 passes, right? And four of them, five of them were to tight ends. Yeah. That sounds lit up. Hold on. If you're going to complete 10 passes and five of them are to tight end... That's pathetic. No, it's fine that he completes it. It's what they do with it. They score 17 times by tight ends. Guy had four catches for 45 yards. Ed Dixon. Fine. We're talking Rob Gronkowski. We're talking like one of the best tight ends in the league here. Great. That's not being lit up. It's not. Jake: Lit up is... Lit up someone scores their tight end scores too much.
01 Justin: That's not being lit up because his name's Ed Dixon. If that's Rob Gronkowski and it's Tom Brady throwing him the ball, you can multiply that. You say so. I do. Gronkowski. Gotta stop him. It's a key. Who stops him? It's gotta be a double somehow. It's gotta be a linebacker chipping him off the line, not letting him get out. And it's gotta be Jimbo, because Eric Smith can't cover him. Jake: So your keys of the castle are... You're two keys. Stop Walker, stop Gronkowski. Okay. You'll win the game. Justin: Mike, what's the score? Give me score. Oh, I have the score written down. 23-22. Oh, wow. Jets win, by the way. Yeah, Jets win. Thanks. Jake: Yeah, I think this is not going to get out of hand. I don't think we can play a 34-31. But I think our defense is good enough to stop. What I saw last week, other than our offense just imploding, was our defense. Get into the passer. stopping people, not making stupid mistakes, getting turnovers, a lot of them, and scoring on turnovers. This is not Baltimore's office. I understand, but what I'm saying is I'm seeing the progress I wanna see out of our defense. True. I think some of that will follow into this game. This will be a very angry game. My key to the castle is one man, he wears number 31. Why him? Because he's the guy that if he plays Good we can win the game There's no one for him to cover on this team if he plays Poorly if he plays stupid if he lets people run by him if he has those big penalties the four penalties if he does that We will there's no one for me even cover. I don't I don't disagree with that as the key I I'm saying that's the key to the game because this is the guy I see the swing happening with him is that everybody else kind of plays well. I get it, the running game is important but the swing with him and you're saying he's not going to cover everybody, he'll be on someone. He'll be on... He'll be on Dion Branch but that's not an important thing. Like to me... Maybe you'll be on Otosinko. Justin: Again, not an important factor. Not important. Jake: It's important if Otosinko has 17 catches... Justin: and three guys caught two balls a game he's not part of their offense there's Jake: no one for get man get to cover don't listen to him watch crow and if crow starts fucking it up meaning the penalties the mistakes the mental mistakes he's physically talented if he's ways the mental mental mistakes the Justin: whole thing I just feel like you're picking on him because in this game he's Jake: not but he's the weakness in our defense he's Justin: He's only the weakness because Reavis is on the other side. Jake: So if you're Tom Brady, you're going to go. Whoever crows on, that guy's going to get a good amount of the ballstone. Justin: I don't agree with that. I feel like Tom Brady throws the ball to Wes Welker. Tom Brady throws the ball to Robert Rinkowski. But if Reavis is on Welker, he's not going to throw it to him. No, incorrect. He will. Factually correct. Has to throw to Welker. It's part of their offense. It is their entire offense. He will throw to Welker. He will throw to Gronkowski. He will throw to Welker. and
12 Jake: to the running backs. Follow us on iTunes, tweet us up when you see us on the Twitter this weekend, and as always... I will not be on the Twitter during the game. Okay, well do not Twitter. Don't follow him even, because he's a pain in the ass. Yeah, just go away. Don't follow him, and if you follow him, just run a nasty note to tell him how fucking wrong he is about me. Wow! And as always, and we are gonna win the fucking game, put up or shut up, and as always, go Jack. Thanks for watching!
