11 Justin: are high. Get used to it. It's always gonna be that way. Jake: As always on this side of the 86 digital aisles... What? What? It's Jake joining me. Fresh from the Yankees game. Congratulations. Last night, Cece pulled it out. Umm... Is Justin. How you doing Justin? Look at you with the sports knowledge. Yeah baby. Where did that come from? I work with two people who are Yankees fans. Pretty much... die hard, although it could be die harder, but you guys are a big Yankees fan so I pay attention. You're a one sport guy. I know, I know, but they need to win the next two, but they gotta go on the road. Look at you! You're talking the talk. You almost sound like you know what you're talking about. You see at home, you can't be beat. a and started getting a little livelier. But anyway, this is a Jets podcast and the Jets are five and one and the best team in the league. So why don't we talk about that? I will say my guess is that out of the Jets, people who listen to this. Probably 50, 60% of them are also Yankees. There's a lot of Yankee fans that are Jet fans. More Giants Yankees, but there are certainly some Yankee fans out there listening. So for those of us, let's go Yanks. And let's go Jets. Alrighty, Agenda, Denver Game Review. We'll pick our nights and plays of the game. Pick off some injuries and key moves, if there are any. Talk about some other Kingdom stuff. Big stuff in the news. Like there's been some... This is some stuff going on. I think maybe we could even talk about Farge Junk we want this time. Really? I would like to talk about it. And then we'll go through our pick'em and see who won last week, who's winning overall. Then we'll pick our game by game picks, which is the Jet Kingdom pick'em. And then at the end we will pick our throne picks, which is when we picked the AFC Eve. East with our sort of scores so a sort of more in-depth analysis because it is AFC East I'll just throw it out there. I predict the jest to win this week Me too. Yeah, okay. I don't get them to not lose. So talk to me about I will the Denver game. All right the Denver game was one of those games where if you're gonna be one of the best teams in the league, you win that game.
00 Jake: Because you essentially got outplayed, but at the end of the day when you look at the scoreboard, you had more points, which is a wonderful thing. So it goes in the win column. There were a few things that happened in the game that were very surprising. The fact that Denver outrushed the Jets. Which is really interesting because not only are the Jets the best running Running offense in the league the best rushing defense in the league Which means we rush more than anyone else and we might not be the best but we're one of the best and We definitely are the best rushing defense in the league Which means we don't give up we give up less rushing yards than anyone in the league and that that all that stat is true. Do you think this has anything to do with the fact that we basically said we don't think they can run the ball so we're not even going to try to stop them? Yeah, I think there's two factors. One, that yes we concentrated on their passing game because they were the best passing offense in the league. All they did was pass they didn't even try and run. And then secondly the fact that they the week before got chewed out by their coach saying, you guys are pusses, you can't run, we gotta be tougher than this, we're gonna run on the Jets. So I think it was one of those things where they really wanted to run on us and we didn't concentrate on that. So we concentrated on keeping Kyle Orton to 200 yards, which was a pretty good feat because... 209, but okay. Whatever, right around it. I mean, he had a couple late in the game passes for... Anyway, he's been thrown for 350, 400 yards. He threw for tons of yards the rest of the year. He's a fantasy monster. He's a fantasy monster, but we played pretty well on defense. We got a couple of really, really, really incredibly bad calls against us. as far as past interference or little holding calls on the outside that just weren't there. They just weren't right. They were bad calls and the only thing that when you watch all these highlight shows all they're showing is that last heave to to San Antonio Homes where the actual correct call was made and there was a pass interference and people all up in arms should they have gotten that call well I think everyone agrees they should have because it was true but what they're not showing is the rest of the game where the Jets got all these incredibly bad calls called offensive pass interference which is such a rare call. Well that one I actually agreed with. San Antonio actually did push off there. But there were other ones like past interference calls on the outside on some of our DBs that it just wasn't true. Like it actually didn't happen. The call on Jim Leonard for unnecessary roughness. He hit him with his hands.
00 Jake: His head hit his hand. I watched it again this morning. His helmet did hit the guy, but he wasn't launching. It's like you're wearing this big bulb on your head. So if you try to go towards someone to tackle them, how can you not make that bulb hit some other piece of someone that you're tackling? But he's being confronted. He made a concerted effort to not hit him with his helmet. He lifted, he pulled his hands in and pushed his hands to get the guy. I mean, I don't know what he's supposed to do. do there. So that was a ridiculous 15 yards extra. And they gave them like, I can remember there was a second and 20 type of play in the first half where we had a good rush on, there was an incomplete pass and they called like a down the field contact type of play where there was nothing there. And it gave them a five yards in the first down. There were so many of these stupid calls. that the refs were making that. It just bothered me. We deserved to win that game. We did win the game. Well, we deserved it because it was stupid. The refs really killed us. Who had more penalties? I have to imagine we did. And who had more yards? Penalty yards? Oh, they probably did because of that pass. So we had six penalties or 74 yards. They had five penalties for 81 yards. So in fact, while it might have looked from a jet sand point of view that we were being just penalized all over the place, we had one more penalty, but less yards. So, you know, kind of even. I have another title for this podcast, but I was going to name it Ref. Because this was a game that we lucked out some serious things. First of all, the refs were calling some crap all over the place. One. Two. Two field goals that they didn't get. Right? One they muffed the thing and one they missed. There's two field goals that they didn't get in the game. That's six points. Um... I just... This is my favorite game of the year. Crazy, I know. It's my favorite game of the year because this is a defining game. This is a season-defining game. This is going on a road against a tough opponent. Starting off well, right? We were up. No, we didn't really start off well. We were up against them. 10-0. Yeah, but... We didn't really play that well. Sanchez threw two drop picks in the first drive. That's my point. We started off slowly in terms of that. But then we got the lead. Then the lead was taken away from us. And then it looked like the world's going to collide. Sanchez isn't hitting his receivers. He's throwing picks or almost picks. We're getting penalties against us. Everything's going as we're in a hostile environment. There's no way we're going to pull this out. And they pulled it out. Not only pulled it out. by a great play, you know, the Heave, whatever it'll be known. But they, then they ended it with the defensive play, with the defense being on the field and stopping them when they needed to stop them. It's my favorite game. It just shows that this is not a team that needs to go up and beat Buffalo or squeak out a win against Miami or... This is a team that can go on the road and go through some really bad adversity and come back and win the game
03 Jake: and have Sanchez come back in the last two minutes of the game and win the game. That's huge. Never would have happened last year. We never got... I mean, this is the game you were throwing pick six at the end of the game. I know we're going the other way and we would have been definitely lost by 10 or whatever. So I love this game. because it just shows all the tendencies that we had last year kind of gotten turned on their head and where our defense would have played better last year we would have lost the game. So our defense is not playing as well but we're winning more games. We're 5-1 and we're the best team in football in terms of record right now and I'm loving it. loving it so this is actually my favorite so go ahead and give me your uh play and night of the game so my play and my night of the game all right so i'm gonna start off with my night okay and i'm gonna actually take something from the uh jet kingdom pick um message board And I'm gonna actually borrow a night of the game from Steve, Steven Peterson. I hope he doesn't care that I mentioned his full name on the podcast. Sorry, I'm not gonna explain it. You're in trouble now, Steven Peterson. But Steven writes in that Lowry sealed last week's game with an interception and this week with a fumble recovery. So I agree, Steven. I'm gonna give Lowry the night of the game for that and I'm gonna let Steven actually guest call my night. So thank you for that. Lowry is my night of the game and as far as play of the game, you know, it'd be easy to say the, you know, the heave at the end of the game, which was a, you know, really, really big. play at that point but I'm gonna actually pick Nick Folks 56 yard field goal. Really? Really. That's mine. Well it's not yours because it's mine that's what you get for letting me pick first. That's true. Because at that point we were you know we were down 10-7 and... So you picked wait Lowry for the play for the night you don't pick his play? No he didn't to be... To be fair, he didn't really make a play. The guy snapped the ball over someone's head and Lowry happened to go pick it up. So, I mean, whatever. Nick Folk made a 56-yard field goal. I know it's Denver and he probably could have made a 66-yard field goal. But if you notice, every kickoff went through the uprights. Oh my god, it did. Almost into the start. And their kicker made a 59-yard field goal, which is very... impressive at the end of the half but but still I'm gonna I'm gonna kick the field pick the field goal because it tied the game in the second half which gave us a little momentum I know we gave it up and then you know went back and forth but I'm gonna I'm gonna go ahead and pick that as my play the game okay so I'll be first to steal the play of the game and the
00 Jake: the Night of the Game and give it to Nick Folk for making the play your play of the game. Nick Folk has been playing Outstanding. I don't know if we've given him a night yet. I did. Well then he's getting another one because he's hitting it and that to set a Jets record in Denver granted whatever the air and all that but Nick Folk you're the Night of the Game. It's funny, sorry before I cut you off, it's funny because when we lost J. Feely and signed Nick Folk, I don't think there was, including us, I don't think there was any Jetfan that was happy about that. But to be honest, Nick Folk is just as good if not better than J. Feely at this point, and I hope I didn't just put the... He's got a good leg, good kick offs, he's good. They're like a pro baller who just sort of went out of fact. Apparently he's, and I've seen interviews with him, he said, you know, I was hurt. here and heard. That seems to be the thing. If we pick up older players who were good but were hurt and now are not hurt, they seem to be performing. He's not old. He's young. He's not old. Meaning they've been around and they were hurt for a couple years not playing well. Well Westoff has already has also helped him. You know he's he's said in interviews that he caught a slight mechanical quirk where he wasn't lining up properly or inconsistently and Westoff put him through some drills and fixed him. just kicking the lights out. So that's my night. Give it to Nick, awesome, Nicky. Play the game, tough one. You know, would love to pick the Thompson 20-yard run for a touchdown. It's a good one. But I'm gonna go with the first one because it's the one that kind of I just got up out of my, you know, chair at home and and screamed is when love watching Sanchez. to Edwards, 32 yard touchdown, feeling like this is the connection that I just love watching. And so that touchdown throw, and it was a beautiful throw, and yes he was just going to run right under it. But again, this is a guy who last year, those types of bombs, he would have just fumbled it into the end zone and wouldn't have caught it. So mine is the... And it also was... Also was good for us because we're on the road hostile place Second quarter when we go up which is huge like to go up on an opponent when no one's scoring Yeah in second quarter. That was a huge. I will say a couple last comments about that game before we move on Feel the the camera literally shaking and and you know that that was the crowd just going absolutely bonk and first second first or second down whatever it was whatever it was they're going nuts and they chant something and I can't incomplete incomplete complete that's what they chant they hate them Wow I could not I could not figure it out and I've watched a lot of Denver games I know that they chant something but okay that's cool to know and then the second thing is San Antonio homes fumbling again
01 Jake: That was a big end around, a big play, a big momentum play where we weren't really moving the ball well and then that was a potential big gain and he fumbles. He could have ran to the left, he could have ran to the right, but instead he decided to run right into Braylon Edwards. and fumbles it after hitting his own guy. And this is a guy who proclaimed that he never fumbles on hard knocks. And he said, I haven't fumbled since my rookie year. I don't fumble. And we've seen it in the preseason a couple times, and now we saw it in the regular season where it really mattered. I'd like to see him hold onto the ball and not fumble. Alright, I'm gonna give you something, throwing it out there. Throw it out there. Jets are 5-1. Woohoo! But we're Jets. We are. So what... So... So... He said that one's such disdain. We are. So what's your biggest concern heading to the rest of the season? Give me one big concern. It's always health. I mean, we're five and one because we've stayed relatively healthy on... Pace out for four games. In specific areas where... Jenkins out. Where we can't afford it. So there are areas of concern where if that person gets injured and is out for a period of time, we are in trouble. We can't lose an offensive lineman. Let's put it that way. Our offensive line has to stay intact, particularly D-brick and mangled. I think we're in trouble if we lose... LT or green We need both of them, you know to stay healthy not Jill McKnight country No, cuz the offense is is really made to have two running backs Oddly enough, I think if Sanchez gets hurt will actually be okay Just as long as he's not hurt for a long time, but the injuries I feel like are a big factor. So that's what I'm worried about. I want everyone to stay healthy. I guess, although that's sort of a cop out because what team could you not say that for? Yeah, but if you're, part of the reason why you, part of the reason why you win is because you stay healthy. That there's a direct correlation there. You get injured, you're Green Bay, you're three and oh, or two and one. And then all of a sudden you start losing everybody, you're no longer a great team. Like, it happens and the only team that seems to make it through injuries are the Colts. Like, Patriots, Patriots do it. And sometimes they'll lose some dope. Hey listen, the season they lost, one of the best quarterbacks. in the league they still went to the playoffs. No they didn't. They went to the playoffs. No they didn't. They were 12 and they were 11 and 5 and they actually didn't make the playoffs. 11 and 5 missed the playoffs. I don't give a shit if you're 12 and 12 and 4 and if you missed the playoffs it doesn't matter. Alright here's mine. Pass offense. Here's who we're gonna meet in the playoffs. Patriots. Go on. Colts. Go on. Not Chargers.
06 Jake: Baltimore Ravens. These people, although not the Ravens. The Colts, our whole thing for Carmarti and Rebounding Reavis and even picking out Kyle Wilson was about that AFC championship game. It's what happened in that game that we just got eaten up. alive. The cult of too many weapons, we can't cover them. We were number one against the I think Kyle Wilson is getting better. He's having that rookie up and down season where one week he looks like a stud, the next week he looks like the dud. Well he's not really playing. Well he has been playing. Not really. Not as much now, but in the beginning when Rebus was out. And this whole Rebus, you know, injury 90% thing, Rebus is... Even the plays that were made over him... they were still really good plays and either Kyle Orton is just threading it to the needle but they were over Revas right the touchdown was over Revas the huge catch on the side bend was over Revas I mean they were over they were on Revas Island again it's a very popular place everybody got it hey you got to come to Revas Island everybody's here um it's not even it's at this point it's not Revas Island it's Revas. Well they did they did play pretty good past defense in this particular game. And part of it is, you know, that Revas coming back and getting healthy, getting back, Kravarti fitting into the system and understanding his role a little better. He's been playing way better over the last couple weeks. And the third thing is, you know, we haven't really gotten a really great pass rush just yet. So it'll be interesting to see, you know, we don't get a lot of sacks, we get a lot of hurries. lot of pressures, but it'll be interesting to see if K if we can start getting a pass rush without having to let six. I know. How is that going to happen? I mean, who who's going to step up and be that guy who can help him pace? But even last year, he's a guy who can, but it doesn't happen consistently. Now, he's not someone I think the people game plan for. Well, the thing is, he doesn't show up in the face. He's high. Watch out for Calvin Pace. Well, what what? what we're missing and what we've I mean Jenkins really is a big loss and as far as that pass first because he does take two guys out of the equation of every play you can't single cover you can't single block him because he'll throw the guy aside you can you can just go right he'll just go right through you so you know what with Jenkins on the field you're even the odds a little you know it's usually five five blockers for four rushers? Well, with Jenkins on the field, he sort of evens those odds out for you. So it's a big loss even though, you know, we were
01 Jake: missing him for half the season last year. To not have him at all is a big, big loss. So I'm changing my concern. My concern is to pass rush then. Fine. Alright, fine. It's not injuries, it's pass rush. So let's talk about other kingdoms. This is a segment where we talk other kingdoms being a reference to not the jet kingdom, but... other kingdoms. Talk about other teams and what's happening in the NFL. You have on the agenda Dion Branch back with Brady. I don't care. Are you kidding? It's a non-factor. They beat Baltimore. I didn't think they beat Baltimore. That's good for us because I don't think Baltimore is as good as... You don't think they beat Baltimore? No, I don't think it's... I don't think Baltimore is as good. Here's the thing, at the end of the season, we've had this conversation offline, so it's gonna sound repetitive to you and me, but no one out here. Baltimore, at the end of the day, at the end of the season, if we keep on this record, Baltimore's gonna be one of those teams that we're vying for. Let's, I know I'm throwing it out there, and everybody's gonna hate me for it, but if we're trying to go for top seed. need. We're the number one team in football right now. We have the best record. Let's say we continue that. We will be vying for top spots for home field advantage with someone like a Baltimore, right there, 12 and whatever, we're 13 and something. Get to it, what are you trying to say? I'm saying that them losing game is good because we don't want to beat them. Yeah, I don't care about that. I'm not rooting for or against them. I'm saying the patch beat them. Right. So I don't care if that's good, bad, or whatever. But they beat them after trading away Moss. Where are they gonna... Well, you know what? D'On branch had nine catches for 98 yards in a touchdown. Moss had nine catches all year with New England. So it's obviously a big deal. Brady loves the guy. He knows the offense. It... I have a feeling that losing Moss is not gonna be as big of a sting to them as people originally... My prediction is to me... And Danny Woodhead's fucking ripping it up for this. He is. He is. My prediction is, Danny Woodhead might make a factor come for the next couple weeks. DM Branch doesn't. One game. One game. Let's see if he can do it five games in a row. I just don't think it'll happen. So the fact that he had as many catches as Moss all year in one game just... You throw that right out the window. He has 16 touchdowns this year. You throw it right out the window? One game. It's like the coming back game. It's like the big emotional game. It's like the Farbloozes' father game. Like he goes and plays an amazing game, and the next week he throws 17 pecs. So not a big deal. Not a big deal. Not a factor. End of the season, not a factor. Holding you to that. Less than 10 touchdowns for the season. Who cares about that? If he has all these yards and catches, and they move the ball down the field, and they score anyway, who cares who scores it? Moss brought 16 touchdowns. on average a year to that team. If you don't replace it, you don't replace it. If you get it from somewhere else, you get it from somewhere else. I'm saying that they won't. You'll say the En branch will match what Ross Moss did for the season from last year for the end of the season this game that he plays in. He might not score as many touchdowns, but the production will be there. catches and yards and moving the ball down the field third down conversions
02 Jake: all the things that matter and then you score a touchdown with the running back who gives a shit okay I don't think I I don't think it'll be a big as big if you I think that's the comeback game all right we were talking about the bad call and Jim Leonard but let's talk about the big hits well that's why I threw it in this section because there some really this week there were some really insanely big hits in the NFL and some crazy concussions and just just a lot of penalties. I'm throwing a question out there. Do we make this hype because I feel like I watched all the games and I saw a couple of the big hits I feel like there's big hits every week but somehow either was Peter King at night or I feel like the media then put a post or put two and two together and got ten. And then they went, this is incredible, these hits are out of control. I think that they just sort of made the news out of it and then the NFL had to react to it, as opposed to just saying, so what? It's another week of big hits. Well, either in the past, concussions just weren't reported. Or. They weren't. Or there's just so many more concussions this year that it's insane. Because guys are getting hit and concussed like nobody's business out there. And I think that that's the thing. Is like they have a rule that they put in place that says that you can't lead with your helmet. And people are breaking that rule and can't launch right and people are breaking that rule and that rules fairly new So I think that that's where this comes from right so the three ones and the three finds. It's Harrison on cribs well Harrison not two guys he knocked like to find for the cribs hit right $75,000 fare unfair Unfair. I saw the hit over and over again again. That's a lot of money. If I hit you in slow-mo on your arm right now, or I hit you right now, and then someone took a camera and slowed it down, he'd be like, look at him punch him. It looks like the biggest punch. It's everything. It's my biggest punch. Everything looks worse in slow-mo. So I watched the hit and I didn't see him lay into the guy. The Harrison, not the Harrison hit,. I didn a no you were going there. I'm just saying, but those are the three hits. Well, no, there was there was Harrison at two. Like, Maryland one. But that one he actually launched himself into someone like like left the ground helmet to helmet. it. And it gets a guy who's already being taken down by another guy and the guy was in the air And that was the biggest one of the week was was the Dante Robinson on Deshaun Jackson and the helmet hit his sternum It didn't his helmet. Yeah, but that was that was a frickin vicious hit Yeah, was they both got knocked out for when when you both get knocked out? That's Again, I think the Harrison and the and the Dante hit I think those were just normal hits. I think you throw in the Merryweather hit
00 Jake: This is what I'm trying to say about the media you throw in the Merrym- Merryweather hit you throw in the concussion story and you build this pot of a story Well, Sean Jackson lost memory like he was knocked the fuck out It happens every game to everybody I think that they're trying to actually protect their labor force and say hey You guys, we're about to go to an 18 game season and we'd like for you all to play in those 18 games and we'd like for you all to not, you know, be brain damaged when you're 48. Great, then Jim Leonard's gonna pull up on that next hit and then get fired. Well that's what bothered me about that, is that that one, that one was not like that play. Next week they'll find him or suspend him for that hit. Is that okay? No. Well that play wasn't against the rule, it just happened to get- He got fined for it! Jim Lider got fined? No, he got flagged for it. He got flagged, but that's a judgement call. Next week, he will be suspended for that hit. No he won't, because they'll have to look at it and they'll say, oh he hit him with his hands. He hit him with his helmet, his helmet hit his helmet. I watched the play over him. He didn't lead with his helmet, he led with his arms. Don't make me pull up the- I'm not making you, but still, there were certain plays that were- completely vicious and the Harrison play was extremely vicious where he jumped off his he was in the air and led helmet to helmet twice in the same game and he's yeah he's kind of a drama queen where he's he's like I'm gonna retire well then overall the NFL is doing the right thing or the wrong thing I think they're doing the right thing and trying to protect them And if your team gets, and I think fines are fine, but suspending players? Well here's the thing, there are rules, and if you break the rules, then you get penalized. And what they need to do is actually probably go back and say, these are the rules. If you launch yourself... and a guy gets knocked out of the game, you're out of the game. And if he has to miss a game for a concussion, you have to miss that game. Here's my concern. We're gonna have a lot, and I know this is crappy concern. We're gonna have... All your concerns are crappy. Yeah, we're gonna have a soccer problem. Which is that a lot of people lying on the ground going, I'm hurt, I'm hurt. And because people get the flag for it. Because there'll be so much attention to it that there'll be a lot of like, there'll be a lot of playing on the ground, right? There'll be a lot of semi injuries. People staying down longer than they could because they're waiting for the flag. I don't think football players do that. I'm saying that they could. If you can get someone kicked out of the next game, you take a player out of the game. But then you can't play. No, they can. That's what I'm proposing. You're gonna wait until the concussion comes back positive three days later and then you're gonna suspend the guy? That's unfair too. No, I'm proposing that if you knock a guy out of the game, right, and that guy can't come back the next week because he has a severe concussion, then you can't play that next week. That's crap because... That's my proposal. Alright, it's a crap proposal because here's the problem.
02 Jake: You then lose the entire week waiting for this decision to come through or the guy to play or not play. So then there could be no game plan. If it's severe enough, like, to Sean Jackson not playing next week. We know that. We knew that on Sunday. Justin: No we didn't do that on Sunday. Oh yeah we did. I couldn't even walk. Alright let's go to the next topic. Jake: The... I win. NFL did... No, never. The NFL did a poll of players asking NFL players to rate other players as most overrated the NFL. What are the top 10 most overrated... players in the NFL. So this is again NFL players voting on NFL players. So it's not us. So it's 269 players in the NFL and 14% of them said TO. It was the most overrated player in the league. So here's the top five Terrell Owens Tony Romo Albert Haynesworth, Mark Sanchez, and Eli Manning. The two New York quarterbacks. Yep. That's a New York thing. Because I don't think Mark Sanchez is overrated. I think he's properly rated. Yeah, but who is hyping him? Yeah, he's like... Because he's in a commercial? No one says he's like the guy's going to beat you. No one says he's even like... He's maybe in the 15 to 20 range of quarterbacks in the league, like maybe even in the 20 to 25 range, like Eli I get. Why? He's a Super Bowl winning quarterback MVP. Yeah, but he's not that good. He's a Super Bowl winning MVP. Yeah, but his defense won that game. I understand that but he was named MVP of the game in a suit because you can't name a whole defense an MVP So, what do you think mark Sanchez away? Yeah, I think I don't think he's over again I think he's properly rated. I I don't even think to 14% is fair because at this point You know, he is what he is and I think he's properly rated Haynesworth. I totally get he's overrated He makes a shit ton of money doesn't even get on the field. Right Tony Romo overrated as well. Never won anything You know, he has great stats, but he doesn't win teams on him for so I'd rather have a leader who wins Then a guy who throws for 350 and loses winning overrated winning is not overrated excellent let's move on and alright so how do we do jet Kingdom Pickle baby as always I kick your ass I still suck you really suck so last week the hun with the wind the hun who is the hun that would be your wife that you don't win by the trends of theory here wait An Atwood beat you. Well, some of my members of my family beat you, so therefore I beat you. That is transitive. No. I still beat you. No. It's my family. My family beat you. Oh my god. What is this? Like the Civil War here? Anyway. Actually, the average of me and her is the same as your family. That's right. So overall Mike still leading the way at 47 and 38. Let's go back. So my wife got eight last week
04 Jake: Oh, I got seven you got six So so Mike's still leading the way overall 47 wins 38 losses I'm making right behind him at 46 on one game back at Mike 46 and 39 and you My friend are 39 and 46 seven games under 500 Dreadful. So with that said why don't we move on to... Let's explain for everybody. I was about to. Every week we pick the Jet Kingdom pick them. You can do this online with us but if you want but it's a little late. I was about to. Every week we pick the Jet Kingdom pick them. You can do this online with us but if you want but it's a little late. We go through every team, pick them with the spread on Yahoo which Justin's really we leave off the AFC East because we pick them in what we call... And we always like to point out when Justin mentions the AFC East. I do really good, bosh. week so let's go get so again I'll mention we're doing we're recording the podcast on Thursday morning and the Thursday lines are not out yet that's correct which are the final lines in this pool so we're picking against Wednesday's line so our picks might change but usually we won't one game is still one game still off but but we'll we'll talk about them anyway so why don't we start it off with The Falcons coming off of a brutal loss in Philly hosting the Cincinnati Bengals coming off of by Atlanta giving three and a half. I like Atlanta they're really good and I think they just had one of those like bad games on the road. I think at home they take care of business against Cincinnati. Atlanta is a very good home team. Cincinnati is not a very good team at all. Why would three and a half I feel like is a gimme. on this. I'll take Atlanta. Lock it in. Chicago home hosting Washington coming off of a decent game on Sunday night against the Colts. The Colts are tough in prime time. Chicago at home giving three. I think Washington's just a better team. Chicago has the softest four wins I think ever. A 4-2 team, they're not that good. I'm picking Washington. Yeah, I agree. I think Washington gave me the 3, although on the road, but still, Washington seemed to come back from last week. They might have pulled this one out, so I'll take the points on Washington. You're not picking up any ground. Nope. Next game. I'd like to have a good week. I don't care if I pick up any ground. Next week next game I should say Tennessee hosting Philly Tennessee coming off off Philly I think it's no I think it's who's gonna be Philly starting quarterback and it's gonna be Kevin called Okay, instead of Mike Vick Vick's not ready yet and Tennessee came off of a convincing win on Monday night where they just took it to Jacksonville and Jacksonville what an awful Monday night. Did anybody watch that game? Apparently people did and I'll tell you we started off the podcast by talking about the Yankees and the Yankees played game three of their ALCS series against against Texas where it
02 Jake: was Cliff Lee versus Andy Pettid a marquee pitching matchup And that went head-to-head with this Monday Night Football game and the Monday Night Football game still outdrew. And this is one of the worst Monday and football games of the schedule. And this is an ALCS game 3 series tied 1-1 with two marquee pitchers out there. In a huge market. In a huge New York market. With probably the biggest fan base in baseball. And the biggest fan base in baseball and footballs. shitty game still out draws a great baseball game which goes to show you was it on national television? it was on TBS so they're both on cable okay but ESPN is probably more prolific than TBS they're both on every system I guess it's not like Fox which isn't on my eye you know let me stop the Jack King to pick up for a moment I'm sorry to stop the momentum but let me just rant for a moment god damn you fox and cablevision i live in long island i have no choice i can only have cablevision cablevision is my only choice my building does not allow me to have phios does not allow me to have direct tv so i'm stuck with cablevision and cablevision and fox can't get their shit together and get fox onto the actual air. So I could not watch Fox last week. Therefore the giant game was not on television by me. I can't watch the NLCS, the baseball series. Well no one's watching that apparently. Well no one can watch anything on Fox. So get your shit together Cablevision and Fox and let's go. Let's get this going. Alright, let's go to the other picture. Alright, so Tennessee is favored by three over Philly at home. Tennessee's home. I'm picking Tennessee. Oh, I'm gonna try to make one up with you with a pick on Philly. I don't know. This one I kind of went back and forth. They're two good teams. They are. I don't, I don't, I feel like I don't know what Tennessee is this year. Who are they as a team? Like are they... Who are you? Who are you? So I'm gonna pick Philly. Alrighty, let's move on to the first off game. This seems like the most obvious pick of the week. Well it's off because, well Kansas City's home to Jacksonville. It's off because Jacksonville had both quarterbacks in that game. The Jacksonville Tennessee game got knocked out. They don't know who their quarterback's going to be. It could be Trent Edwards. They brought in Patrick Ramsey and some other schmuck to compete. I don't I don't I don't know I the line is off right now I can't see this line being less than 10, but I'm gonna pick Kansas City anyway at home to yeah cross Jackson I mean Jackson what this with three points on Monday night didn't they yeah, they're a three and three team that is not that good I'm gonna go with Kansas City on this one. Thanks Alrighty, next game New Orleans home. That is the next game. That is the next game. Just get the AFC's game there for those paying attention to home. New Orleans hosts Cleveland giving 13 points to Cleveland and Cleveland's Colton Coy actually
03 Jake: looked pretty decent against a Pittsburgh defense. He hung in there but they still lost by a bunch of points. and New Orleans. They came out and looked like New Orleans for the first time all year, so I'm going to pick the Saints in this game To win by more than 13 at home. Yeah, give me give me Saints Definitely Definitely, I don't like these big spreads. I usually stay away from them I mean, I usually you like that you like the the underdog in those games I usually do but New Orleans at home stadium against a crappy team rookie quarterback and they look for the first time like New Orleans. So I see them winning this by 14. The team that lost to New Orleans, Tampa, goes home or is home and they host St. Louis who's actually looking like a decent team. Sam Bradford's looking like a real deal quarterback, but I'm going to go ahead and pick Tampa to win. this game I don't think St. Louis is quite as good on the road. Yeah I think same thing I think the I think Tampa Bay will win I think they'll cover Josh Freeman has been looking good. Yeah last week he didn't look great against New Orleans but he is looking like a winner. Bradvers you know and he's gonna have those rookie things where he's gonna go up and down. He looks good though. This is the one of those games. I feel like he'll have a down game. Alrighty, moving right along. San Francisco coming off their first win on the road at Carolina. And a 1 in 5 team favored by 3 points. I know they were favored last week and they actually covered. But Carolina, I think they're going back to map more. I'm gonna pick Carolina. Coming off their bye week, I have a feeling that they straightened a couple things out. They're going back to map more. At home. They're at home. I don't know. I'll take them. Give me Carolina at home. It'll probably blacked out. Yeah, it's a one o'clock game and San Francisco's coming across. That doesn't work out well for West Coast teams usually. Alright, our next game on the docket. Seattle home to Arizona. Love Seattle at home. They're favored by five and a half. I'm gonna pick them. I will too. Seattle's been playing. inconsistent but they won last week and at home they played better. They're really tough at home. Next game we move on to Denver. Denver versus Oakland. Denver's home. They are giving seven points and from what I just saw of Denver they should beat Oakland by at least two touchdowns. So I like Denver in this game. Yeah at home they... Yeah, they should. And coming off that loss, they should be angry. They should be angry. Angry Denver. Angry Denver. Our next game on the docket is the big Sunday Night game where we get to watch Brett Favre with Minnesota go to Green Bay, which is always fun. Green Bay is favored by three. Green Bay is injured. Minnesota coming off of a momentum shifting type of win against Dallas.
04 Jake: I just heard, by the way, I just read on the Sports Wire that Aaron Rodgers received pictures of Brett Favre's junk. He did. He texted to him. So that might help the game. I don't know. It might. It might not. I'm going to pick Minnesota in this game. I think Favre goes to Green Bay and has a really good game, and Green Bay is just Banged up, so I actually want My heart, I want Green Bay to win this game, because I don't want them on like a three or four game losing streak, and then the Jets play in the next week. So, I want them to win a game in between, but that's just me as a Jet fan, but in the Jet... ... Jet... Kingdom Pick'em... ... Kingdom Pick'em... tongue twister? I'm gonna pick Minnesota with, uh... taking the three points. I'm gonna pick Green Bay. I think Minnesota is not a good team and only if they're good on the road. I think Green Bay, the fans are gonna be outrageously loud and I don't think the Packers are that bad at team. They'll find a way to win and I think they'll find a way to win by more. I actually hope you're right because I don't want them on like three or four game losing stream I mean it's a medal. I will say this is and as we get to the last game this week I think the two night games are actually really good game. Yeah, they are games and The last game is Dallas is hosting the Giants and there will be no New York team Playing on Sunday in the afternoon, which means for those of you who have Fox you might get a few more games There might be the possibility of having, you know, I get all the games whatever I don't so I'll be watching CBS all day. So Dallas is hosting the Giants. They are favored by three You know you throw the records out in this game Because this is such a big rivalry division game and I actually like Dallas to beat the Giants here I I feel like you pick them go five and eleven or something? The Giants? I said five hundred, eight and eight. Eight and eight? Yeah, and I don't know, I feel like there is still one little gasp of hope for Dallas if they win this division game. If they lose it, their season's literally over. Because you can't be one in five. But if they win this division game, they have a chance in their home and it's a big Monday Nighter. I feel as if Dallas will win this game against the Giants. The Giants will find a way to actually lose it. Wow, I think the Giants have actually played okay. I think they're in the new stadium. Then they won like two games down there already. Meaning last year, well they won one last year, the big opener. Yeah, they went down there on the opener and beat Dallas. I don't think they have a... thing with that they also have a good travel which they travel with a good defense they've been able to pressure the quarterback Tony Romo's a guy like to move around a lot I think you could see a lot of sacks and fumbles for touchdowns in this game you know Eli Manning to Hakeem Nix is actually
01 Jake: working out seems like it's a powerful combination there And every time I pick against the Giants I lose so I'm gonna pick for the giant so that we got at least three or four I could make up on you if I worked you probably won't though. I won't So let's get to that's the pick them now. Let's get to our throne pick Where we talk about the AFC East games. I did a great job of avoiding them in the pick them you did and We go into a little more in-depth Analysis if you will. Yeah, and we actually pick scores final scores not spread scores and we will start with Pittsburgh heading south to Miami to face the Dolphins. The Dolphins I don't think have won at home yet. Yeah so they are... they're three and two? They're three and two. They've won all three games on the road. They won against Minnesota. They won against the Packers last week. And they won against the Bills. So they're three and two. They've not won a home game. Stunning because usually they're a bad road team because of usually the weather or the coldness. And they're a good home team because of the heat. And it usually takes out players, people coming from the Northeast. I think it's their style. I think their style is good. for the road because they run the ball a lot and they play tough defense. The Dolphin's a good team. I can't tell. I think no because of the fact that I answered that I can't tell because they're shaky like they're good and then they're not good and they're I think they're a little still gimmicky and maybe that's that's like held over from when they did a lot of Wildcat and they drafted Pavlite to run Wildcat and this and that. I still feel like they're hokey and gimmicky and they don't win straight up football. And they just lost Parcells. He's gone now, right? Yeah, that'll take effect more in the years to come. I will say as someone who has to watch a lot of dolphin games, I guess. I'm a Merit O'Dolphin fan and watched last game because I was with Packer and Dolphin fans last week Did both of those teams look bad in that game? Like I didn't watch it. They just didn't look they didn't look that they were firing All signals, you know all signals I think Miami has some pieces but they're missing that they're not gonna be great because they're missing some pieces. Chad Henney can throw the ball. He has a problem with touch. So I think that's one of the concerns I'd have for if I were a Dolphin fan is that he doesn't seem to be able to get the intermediate route, you know, just quick out stuff. He always overthrows the guy by about miles. He's throwing to the other side of the planet. The other thing is there play calling is sometimes horrendous. So I think it's Dan Henning is the offensive coordinator. Horrendous play calling. Sometimes I'll be sitting there with the wife and we'll be watching the game and I just be like, why would you call that play? Makes no sense. So they have some weapons Ted Enne, they have Brandon
01 Jake: Marshall, they've got running backs. You know, are they the best running backs anymore? Not really. They're kind of on the other side of the wrong side of great running backs. but they can still make a move or two. I don't think Pittsburgh wins this game because I think Pittsburgh is a much better team. They play a much better defense. I think Ross is another week back, kind of with his team and playing. I think Pittsburgh is going to beat up on them. I think we'll keep close though. I don't see Pittsburgh as a big high-scoring team, even against Cleveland. They weren't, you know, I don't know. So I see this as... Pittsburgh 23, dolphins stick in there like 21. They might score the last touchdown the last five minutes. We see this as very similar. We see you know I have this as Pittsburgh 23 just like you, dolphins 17. So I actually picked them in the spread to mine stick with in spread right now did yeah so different air so what's the next game next game is is a good one it's new england at the middle in san diego superchargers this is a four o'clock game so if you're lucky enough you should be able to watch this game on CBS should be there's no other game i think cbs has the double header this week Fox had it last week Hopefully I can watch is Pittsburgh at one because it was it So hopefully I can watch Pittsburgh, Miami at one in New England, San Diego at four and I'll be happy as a pig and shit And then you get to have the Green Bay man. That's right at night. That's a good game Justin: So that's a good for those without for those without direct TV Jake: That's a pretty good man center where I watch all games at all times like I'm in some sort of pretty good week That's not bad. So San Diego is 2 and 4. They're 2 and 0 at home, 0 and 4 on the road. So they are now home to New England who has to travel across the country. And this is about the time where the North Turner Chargers usually start to turn it on. When they're around 2 and 4 and it's middle of October They start to win, win. Yeah, so the one thing they win like the last 10 games. Yeah, they they they do that from time to time So the one thing that is a little concerning here for us who are obviously gonna root for San Diego in this game Go Chargers go San Diego Superchargers we're gonna We're gonna maybe not see Antonio Gates. He heard him. He heard himself as his toe, I believe. And Malcolm Floyd also was out of last week's game early. So those are Rivers two top targets. Gates pretty much is top target and Floyd his top wide receiving target. Who's he gonna throw the ball to? Don't know. He's got a legadoon in a out there. He's got Patrick Creighton, the former cowboy out there. He's got, you know, maybe sprawls out of the backfield. If these guys don't play, that's going to be a tough, tough go for San Diego.
00 Jake: Good thing is that New England doesn't really have a very good defense. Justin: They're getting better. Jake: Their secondary is not very good. They're getting better though. You should never throw it to anybody. They are getting better. And I feel like by the end of the year, and this is not the end of the year, New England's defense is actually going to be fairly decent because Belichick doesn't generally coach back. defenses he generally gets him get some going by the end of the year well lucky for us this is not the end of the year and San Diego is home and I see them actually winning this game 34 27 even without the big receiving targets Rivers is that good Danny Woodhead runs 257 yard 17 touchdowns and I jump off a bridge. Stop it. I think New England wins this game. I don't think San Diego's very good at all. So you have some chances here in the pick-up to make up some ground up. Yeah, I think this is a New England game that they win. I don't think San Diego's good. I think New England will travel fine. They have enough people on their team that they're not gonna get sidelined by being in San Diego or changes in time zones. It's easier to go that way. It's tough to pick against Tom Brady. Against a team that's just not, I mean, what, they're 4-2? Yeah, so I'm going to pick knowing to win thirty one twenty eight, that's fine. I'll take your money You know what's interesting is while we're just ending that game is norf turner and wade phillips Why why why why why why why? a team should take someone else make them the head coach and then hire Wade Phillips to coach the defense and North to coach the offense and that'll be a great team. Pretty good team. Because those guys are just not head coaches. They're great coordinators for their sides of the ball but they can't be the head coach. They get to enough playoffs or they get to enough the year they're supposed to get to that thing. Whatever that thing is, the line in the sand, they get over that line. No. That saves the belt. Both of these teams are supposed to win and get to Super Bowls. Oh, I think Wade Phillips is gone. They lose this game against the Giants. The Cowboys are out of any kind of contention for anything. Wade Phillips is gone mid-season. Did they go fire in mid-season? Mid-season. I don't know if mid-season firings really make sense. I think they do because they get you start to look. And you can say, listen, we're open. They'll start talking to Gruden. They'll start talking to Gruden on Monday night. And... Hahahaha! Terry Jones will be up in the booth with Groot. He'll be like, so... So, Johnny Boy! What do you do now in this game? Because this guy... Because it's now 31-0 and... Let's go to the bar in the stadium here and have a drink. You like this place? Would you like to have an office here? You see that screen? I'll put you up on that screen, baby. Alright. There's also... Gudin might come back and the other one is... Um... Tower. Those are two big names.
02 Jake: Also, Dungy in the studio, you might be able to pry him out of time. He looks so uncomfortable in the studio. Why does he look so uncomfortable? He's an asshole. I hate him. I hate him. He's a goody-two-shoes. He's a fucking asshole, and I hope you heard that. And he yells at me about cursing. Alright, on to the game of the week. Baltimore at Buffalo. Don't pick with your heart. I'm just saying, Baltimore wins 38-nothing. 38-neth-ing? Yep, that's my pick! I have a 28-17. You know, in the J- Kingdom pick-em, um... Wait, is it Baltimore at Buffalo or Buffalo at Baltimore? I think it's Baltimore at Buffalo. I might have that wrong. I hope I don't. Wait and know your teams and where they're playing. Oh, whatever. While you're looking this up, in the Jet Kingdom Pick'em, there's the tiebreaker at the bottom, which we never really get into, but if you're in the Pick'em... We've never discussed it. Oh, the tiebreaker at the bottom of the Pick'em. The tiebreaker at the bottom of the Pick'em, which is to say, you have to pick... Buffalo at Baltimore. Oh, Buffalo at Baltimore, even worse. Yeah, 38-nothing for sure. Let me go to 41-nothing. I'm actually changing that. 41, that's okay. So, you know, you have to say what team you think will score the most points in a week and what team you think will score the least points in a week. You pick Buffalo. I pick, no, I pick Baltimore to score the most and Buffalo to score the least this week. 41-0. Mark my words. Buffalo has stuck in their, these games and they're gonna win a game and I think they're gonna win a game. Baltimore is angry. I know. but I think Buffalo's one of those teams that's gonna win a game that no one in the world like kind of like Oakland last year Remember Oakland last year they were horrible. We destroyed them We got shut them out, but then they went like beat like Pittsburgh. They won like five games last year I know but they I'm not saying they're going to the playoffs. I'm saying they're gonna win one of these games Mark my words in one of these games against a really good opponent. That's me like there's no way No, but if this is if you're still alive in suicide pick the Ravens this week if you didn't pick them Yeah, you wouldn't have picked them last week 2817 the 13 point spread I'm picking Buffalo to keep within the spread Wow So we actually all three of the throne pick games we you can make up on all, so we actually have quite a few different picks, which means you're gonna go all the way down the list. I can either make a huge comeback this week, or I got to take some chances, or I could make it in there. You're not making it, sorry buddy. I will be paying attention, since the jester I'm playing this week, I will be paying attention much more to this. I will say. Pay little very little attention during Sunday to anything but the Jets this week I'll be happy to be watching every score and every point and you know looking my my spreadsheet Jets are off this week, but programming note.
