09 Jake: The best place to be is when expectations are high. Get used to it. It's always going to be that way. Justin: So the checking the podcast as always on this side of the table again no digital aisle today is Jake and joining me for the 82nd time my good buddy Justin here to talk about some new on Saints oh wait Jack football I really prefer the digital aisle. I don't have to stare directly at your mug. You do actually stare at me. I do. I look you right in the eye. It's a little weird. The microphone is directly below us because we're hanging from the ceiling. And I do. I like to look you in the eye as I'm talking to you. I'm pretending I'm talking to you. Well, I'm not pretending I am. The audience feels like I'm actually talking to them. Oh, they love how it works. I love it. Well, we got lots of talk about today. We got to talk about the win against the Pats. We're going to pick our Knights for that game. First Knights of the Year. We got some injuries and some moves going on. We have some utter stupidity by some of our players. Multiple players will get it. deep into that. We'll do our Jet Kingdom pick them, going through all the picks, see who won last week, we'll go off and do our thrown picks for this week and then wrap her up. So let's get into the game that was, right? Let's talk about the pats. We both predicted we'd win this game, and behold, we did. Did you get to watch the game? No. Oh, no really? It was the first Jack game since I was in college. which not to give away my age, but was about a year ago? No, about, I think it was like seven or eight years ago. So I went to school not in the New York area and I didn't have jet games and the package wasn't out. You couldn't have the dish and this and that. Maybe the package was out, but I was a college kid and I wasn't paying for, you know, $20,000 for some dish or whatever it was. So. Yeah, this is the first game in a long time I was not able to see. I did hear... I watched the whole first quarter on television and I heard the whole fourth quarter on the radio and half of the third quarter. So I got a lot of the good parts. I didn't see any or heard any Patriot scores. That is the good part. It's pathetic though that you literally are listening to it on the road. You need to get better with your social scheduling. Like that commercial says, I'm an NFL fan. I changed my social schedule to watch the football.
00 Justin: It was... Unavoidable. Unavoidable. Unavoidable. Alright, well, I was there at the game. Good for you. Yeah, well, you know, it does make me better because I'm there. It makes me a better fan, makes me better informed. You're tailgated, yeah? Oh, nice tailgate. Great tailgate. I would sell it. I'm almost convinced the better the tailgate, the better the, uh, the better the... We did a lot of meat, I'm just saying. Lots of meat. Lots of meat. A lot of sausage. Yeah, lots of different kinds of sausage. We had too much meat, didn't we? Steak? I think we did a steak. Pork loin? Might have done a pork loin. We definitely did a... Love the pork tenderloin at the tailgate. That is good stuff. All right, come on, we don't wanna hear about our... We're supposed to start fucking tailgate. Let's talk about the game. So this is sort of a game of two halves, and I would say it started the way that we thought would start, meaning they are who we thought they were. They're going to come in. They're going to play well, right? To start. Um... They weren't actually able to run the ball very much. There's an interesting stat that came up, I tweeted it last night. How many yards, did you see my tweet? How many yards do you think the Jets have given up in the last two games in rushing? Oh, we're a good rushing defense. Less than 100 total, I bet. Yeah, it's 101 yards. It's pretty good. And that's without Chris Jenkins in the middle. Yeah. Well, I mean, if you look at the stats from when he played last year to when he didn't play, our defense got better when he didn't play, which is... Uh, that's deceptive. It's deceptive to say it's better without him, but the stats say that... Last year was the first year in a new brand new net new system, different personnel, and it took him a little while to gel, and once they gelled, he got injured. So, but Tsioni Pu'a stepped in. Really really well in the middle of that of that line and their system just allows for like a lot of free rain In the linebacker area, so these guys are just flying everywhere the D lines keeping them off Keeping blockers off of them, and they are just stuff in the run Yeah, I mean it was to me this game was looking at the Patriots. I was worried about the game Yes, I think the Jets can win every game but this is a team that went up and you know did pretty well against the Bengals. Bengals came off a game when we came off a season of last year having a great defense having won their entire division straight out 6-0 in their division. A big division too. Now I would say we played them twice and destroyed them twice once I think we shut them out and once we... Well once they didn't even really play. Yeah well we shut them out. I mean they had they had O'Sullivan, JTO Sullivan as their... And it showed, because I scored zero points. Carson Palmer is looking like J.T.O. Sullivan this year. Carson Palmer is not bouncing back nicely. So, you know, they had that game, and I thought, oh man, here they come, you know, Wes Walker and all that. Amazing. Going into the half, it was 14-10. I remember going into the half thinking, okay, doable. But then the second half was a game of like, it wasn't even us. It wasn't even the Jets. It was a game of where they were able to do nothing.
01 Justin: The Patriots weren't able to do anything as the interviews were. hysterical. He's like, we sucked. We sucked. That was awesome. We weren't able to turn first down. We weren't able to do second down. We weren't able to do anything. Lots of third and longs. It's not their game. They like to get third and four and throw for seven to West Wildcat. And for the defense played as well as, you know, played better than they played the week before, but the offense was just, you know, a different game. They went out there and actually played offense. How about that? They did. They kind of opened it up. I will say... their corners blow. They're young and they blow. I'm like, we'll talk about our picks later, but I think people will be able to score on the Patriots. Cause I never saw one of their corners turn their head around. Like if you watch all the replays, everything, it's always our guys going, I know where the ball is, and those corners never turn their head to try to figure out where the ball is. So they're either gonna get called for a lot of pass interference or they're just gonna have some big guy. Which they did on one drive. I think it was what two straight plays where it was just a huge chunks of yards for no actual catches. Just interference. It was like us in week one. Kyle Wilson getting called for penalties and Cromartie getting called for penalties. So overall feeling the game besides the just awesome win. I mean I'll tell you the score is not. It's a 14 point score, but it's not a little closer than that. Yeah That I thought was a little dumb I was listening in the car and I was like, why are you going for two? It's too early. You don't need to go for two. Yeah, that's just playing good But I'll stick to stick to parcells when he says you only go for to when you need it in the fourth quarter. You don't do it to play with the score or to be like, well, now they have to get two more points. It's like, no, just- Well, they tried to get it from six to seven. Right. Which didn't make much of it. Yeah, it doesn't. And it didn't end up being in this final score. So if you missed it again, it's one of those things. I agree. It's not worth it unless you absolutely need it. You know, you're down by eight. Well, there's some things that, you know, I did watch the iTunes recap. Oh, good. So I did catch 17 minute version of the game. Wait, hold on. Let me get out the super fan award here and hand it to you for being the world's greatest fan. Again, I watched the first quarter, no score. I listened. I heard every jet score essentially. So maybe you should just get in the car and listen there's some things that I was very impressed with Okay at the end of the half they they put up a field goal. Yep 48 yarder not easy folk has been really He hasn't missed yet. That's good. Yeah, we're worried about that losing feely Yeah, you can step up and then been good in preseason. I don't he missed an extra point I mean he you just you missed one of those a year and he got it out of the way in the preseason I agree So that was impressive, you know, going in not 14-7 but 14-10. And then, you know, just the utter dominance on the defensive side of the ball in the second half. I think they had like 50 yards total in the second half. If you take away their final drive where there was a strip sack by Taylor,
04 Justin: they had like nothing. They had no yards. They could not move the ball. And, you know, the defense. is going to carry this team and then if the offense can do a couple things like they did, this is gonna be a good team. You know, I'm working with the stats here, it's like, it's almost like the tail of two tail of two quarterbacks and if I gave you these stats and I said it's the New England Patriots against the New York Jets, you'd go, if I said okay, you know, you got 20 for 36 248 yards two TDs two interceptions You'd go and I went the other one is 21 for 30 220 yards three TD zero interceptions or rating of 124 big. Oh, that's that's Brady, right? You know that was Sanchez. Well, I'd say neither was Sanchez because over 200 yards and more than one touchdown and three Sounds and I'd say neither Sanchez Are they both Brady? That's actually, that's just two sides. So it's two sides of the... And just unbelievable. Again, losing Reavis, you know, to that Hammy. That was a great catch by Moss. It was, but you saw him limping. You saw Reavis limping as he goes. And it was blown coverage. He should have had help over the top. So it was two things. One, literally in the run. started limping. What a catch though. Oh yeah, actually Braelyn did a catch similar like one of these one-handed on the sides. It wasn't for touchdowns, it was for the side. Again it gives an incredible incredible game and here we are one-in-one. So why don't we go ahead and pick our, well throw us some stats and stuff that I was impressed with. You know, with Aiden Thompson's running 6.9 for for carries being used correctly this year yep and Evan carries is a nice amount for him you know I want I'm looking for more you know more out of Sean Green at this point but he's taking some of the tougher yards you know taking the Thomas Jones role right but yeah and what they even Tom's taking what the the Leon Washington role. So then who's taking a Sean Green role? He didn't have a role if you remember before Leon got hurt. When we get the playoffs, I want someone to take Sean Green's role where he basically won two games for us by breaking away and doing two games for us. Hopefully it'll be him. No, I mean just really great game. And I think that's enough for the next game. So give me your night. Give me your night of the game. Maybe play the game. I think we did that last year too. Play the game. he did a night of the game and a play of the game? Yeah, a night and play of the game. Okay, well, since I did catch, you know, a lot of the good plays on the replay, I think my night has to be on the defensive side, and I'm gonna pick someone who, you know, sort of goes unheralded, he didn't have any, you know, big stat, like a sack or a... you of Force Fumble or an interception or anything like that, but I'm picking Sionipua because he has stepped into this nose tackle role and has essentially clogged the middle of the field and has done what Jenkins is supposed to do.
00 Justin: And that sets up a lot of the defense. It sets up the scheming. It sets up if he could take on a double team and allow someone else to run free from one side or the other. It really sets up a lot of the stuff that they do with the blitzing. I know Kramarti had a good game in the second half. I don't think he had a very good first half from what I understand. Again, I didn't see it. He almost plays better without Rebus. Well... Because you know what, he almost, he's that kind of guy, and I'm actually, it'll be interesting this week, but he's one of those long lanky guys. Yeah, Welker's a tough cover for him. Moss is actually a good matchup for him. It's a much better matchup. Because they are similar, and Moss just kind of runs straight down the field, and Vomari can run with him, and he's just as tall. He's just as tall as right, you can jump up. But I think Pu'a is my... night just because of the importance of that role and how well he stepped into it. I remember early on when they drafted him, it was like six or seven years ago, under the mangenium reign. He was like a third round pick. He was just a project. He was just a big body, a big fat guy, which I loved. And now I just love big fat guys on the line, especially in defense And over the last two years under Rex, he's really played well. So good good on him And he's my knight the play of the game I'm gonna pick the that long run by Lydanian Tomlinson where he got down to like the four yard line a 31 yard line something like that a 31 yard run or yeah I think was 31 yards he showed some legit old-school LT cut and burst and move on that yeah I think maybe three or four years ago he might have scored touchdown yeah I know Not even think. You literally, you say someone's lost a step, it's that one step that got him out at the whatever, 10 or 11, versus going through to the floor. So that safety or that corner, that DB wouldn't have had an angle on him, he would have taken it to the house. But still, that was missing a little bit last year, and LT's come in and... added a deep threat on the run, a home run hitter who can take it to the house anytime in terms of the ball, which is kind of what we thought we were going to get, but a lot of skeptics said he was too old and slow and hasn't done it in a couple years. Well, he just needed a new change of scenery, maybe. and he seems to be back. He's catching the ball, he's running the ball. Pretty good stuff. So who's your knight? My knight is actually the, I'm gonna give it to the guy who, he's gonna get a lot of crap from us because this is a guy who we had a lot of questions of last year, a lot of drop balls, and this game was like he was Spider-Man. There was nothing gonna come to him that was. And since he's going to get a lot of crap from us and maybe never see that many balls
02 Justin: or do it, I'm going to give it to Braylon Owens for the game because I thought he was, when it needed to happen, he was the guy who caught the ball. I mean, Dustin Keller probably, you know, right up out there, but I thought Braylon Owens made them tougher catches. I think Dustin got the like, and actually my play of the game was that blown play for I think it was like 22 yards or whatever that, you know. Dustin just goes running up, you know, does a double back and then goes running up and it was a pitching catch as Mark Sand just rolled out of the pocket. Great. I mean, he's one of those like you couldn't draw it up nicer But again, it wasn't like he was shaking off ten guys hanging on to Brian at Braille Network I just thought wherever it was when I was in the end zone for the two-point conversion and for the end for the touchdown Like he's playing with somebody else. He's going up above me He's pointed, he's doing the hard catch. When he's 6'3 and the corner's 5'8, it's a little easy. But he's catching it, but he's catching it, right? And there's those, I was even watching the replay even at the end this morning and I was like, there was one play, I was like, that play he would've dropped the ball last year. I can just see it in my eye, like, that same play and he would've dropped the ball. I would've been okay too, because it wasn't a great pass, there was a little behind him. Well, he's weird because he catches... He makes tough catches. He drops easy. It's so weird. If he's wide open it's going to hit him in the helmet. But if he's got a guy draped all over him he'll make a one-handed catch. Maybe it's a concentration thing. This is a harder catch, I'm concentrating harder. But whatever it is, yeah, it sounded like he had a great game, and I saw the catch stupidity with the rubbing on his helmet and getting 15 yards. He did twice taunting. So let's talk a little bit about the penalties. So a couple of times I was like. What was your play before? My play was at Dustin Keller, you know, Mark Sand... It just showed maturity, because it was Mark Sandtress rolling out. He just identified quickly that Keller was free and then made this, you know, beautiful running catch. It reminded me of actually the one in Cincinnati last year in the playoffs, like where... Remember, it was the first one where Dustin Keller comes out and he threw the ball. I mean, it was like... I think it made like 40 yards or something. It was an amazing play. But it's just that play again. Again, it just shows... to me, it looks... you look at... Sanchez and he looks, it's those plays you think, wow, there's really something here, you know? He's gonna be good if he can do these types of plays. So that was my play. We won't know who Sanchez is for another two years even. Yeah, no, I agree. He's gonna go up and down, up and down, and we're gonna get really frustrated like last week. We're gonna be really happy like we are this week. As much as I was frustrated last week, when you don't turn over the ball, I'm less frustrated. That's true. Because this defense is about not turning over the ball. Special teams are. pretty good. Right. So they have a good punter, they have a big kicker. He has crappy games. I don't, I hope they're in completions and in bumbles or whatever, but if they are in, yeah, if they're in yards or whatever, I don't want to see bad games in like multiple. It's a tough matchup too.
04 Justin: The Ravens make a lot of people a lot of people look bad. Yeah, I mean, but then again, they lost this week and you know, so they were only able to score the same 10 points they were able to score against us. so know interesting. All right so let's talk a little bit about the injuries and stuff. Obviously Reavis out for a couple weeks now. Yeah I say he should I mean he's out this week for sure against Miami. I say he should sit too. I think he should sit against the Bills. Yeah there's no reason to play against the Bills. They don't have a passing game. Right. Like they don't have an offense. Oh Fitz. It'll be Fitzy up there. There's no reason to to hurry back on a hamstring injury. I agree. Just relax, come back for Minnesota. Come back in the extra day for the Minnesota game. That's right. I totally agree. Two weeks. Let's just say he's gone. Mango got banged up. Oh, I guess the point we didn't even talk about, I should have made it, I didn't think about it until just now, was the game ender, which was Jason Taylor making the sack. Pretty great. That was pretty good. I actually forgot about it. Getting a Jason Taylor chant going at the New Metal Arms. Two chants in the game. There was the LT chant and there was the JT chant. I'd say that's one. He's one step closer for me to being a JET, having done that play. To Brady. I think he has the most, I think he has the most sacks against Brady ever. Really? like any of any player. Who has sacked Brady, I think it's Jason Taylor. Which makes sense, he's been in the division though. And he's been Jason Taylor. And he's been one of the best. Oh, he was out for one year. Jake: One year, late in his career. Justin: So, are the injuries, I mean, Mangle's a little banged up. I think he'll be fine. Hunter was a little banged up. Actually, he was not on all the practice. I think Mangle will be fine. Pace is still out. Pace is still out. So again, we are missing three starters on defense. I'm going to continue to count as missing a starter. We're going to miss Reavis and we're going to miss Pace still. Again, I think we can play against I think we can play against Miami and Buffalo without those guys. But Minnesota, I think you want a full squad out there. So if Pace, there was talks that he might be ready for this week, but I don't think he's going to. I want him back for the bills to get get warmed up. Yes. Yes, I think he'll be back for that I mean if he's gonna rush don't rush I want revisit pace back from Minnesota that like pace back. I'd also like to end farms career Okay, I'd love for pace to just come around the corner and just knock the socks off of Brett fire Let's let's get it and save that for that. Yeah, let's set that for that game. Let's talk about let's talk about the one, you know an elephant in the room. The beard in the room? The beard in the room. He should, it's one of the things, you should grow the beard until you make a mistake like that then you should shave the beard. Yeah, you should totally shave it right now. Just to be like I'm starting fresh again. Starting fresh. Again. Shaving my head and I'm shaving my beard. So for everybody who's been living under a rock, Ray Allen Edwards, at 5.15 in the morning on Tuesday morning was caught, was caught drinking and driving, double limit,
00 Justin: point one six in the car with him was of Ronan Goulston and Dabrik Shah Ferguson. No good. No good. He goes to reign. And now there's all this talk. So let's just get to what the big question we kind of was talking about is what should the Jets do and what are they going to do? Should and are and lifestyle. What are they and should they do? I think well what they are doing is they're not. Yeah, but they could do more. They could do more. Right now, that's what they're doing. I think that's what they should do. Just don't start them. And honestly, this is football. If you don't start them and you don't play them in the first quarter but you're down ten nothing, put them in the game. If you're winning ten nothing and the offense is looking alright... sit him for the half. And then if you're still winning, sit him the whole game. Honestly the scoreboard should dictate what happens. And that's my feeling. It's football. It has the goals to win the game. You only have 16 of them. and if Brown and Edwards is going to go out there and help then you should put them in the game but you should sit them about a quarter. Okay so you think I think it's I think you should sit them for whatever you're gonna sit them for predetermined. I don't think it should be determined. The punishment should be the punishment so if you're gonna sit them whatever day should be. I don't like pre-determining it because I don't like going out there and saying we're gonna sit Brelyn Edwards for the first half. Why not? And then you're down 13-0 in the first quarter and you need to get a drive going. Yeah. Because the head coach Rex wants to win the game. Okay, but here's the thing. The punishment, that's why I don't like that, is the punishment shouldn't be dictated by the score. The punishment should be, because then you're saying to him, hey, if we suck without you, your punishment's less. But if we're good with you, if we're good without you, your punishment's more? No. The punishment is the punishment. And the punishment is to not start. That's probably a financial thing. starting game thing, and then it's a thing. You either do it for the quarter, you do it for half, or just not start. Not start means you're not the starter, but you can still go in whenever you want. I'd, I prefer them just to hit them in the pocket. Just fine. Well, I think they're going to do that too. Because I prefer to have them on the field. If, you know, if San Antonio, if this was week 8, I'd say fine. Benjamin, game, the whole game. Can't dress. But... That is our weakest position. We have literally two real receivers. Our other two,. Brad Smith is not a real receiver and Clowny is is not a good receiver either. I'm actually surprised that they didn't bring coals in for the week. I'm serious. Just to stack them up there. Throw stuff at him. Well, I mean, if you're not going to have Bradlyn Edwards, then you're down to three receivers. And if you have a set where it's a three receiver set, honestly, you're gonna throw the ball to like, Clowney or Brad Smith. That doesn't happen very often. I think Keller's gonna have to move out there and play some wide receiver a little bit. I mean, I'm not comfortable with brain
01 Justin: always not playing the whole game. I think it is hard as a fan separating out my feelings about the team and my feelings about drunk driving. And I think wherever there's...it's also about precedent. Let's find the precedent. Let's figure out what that is. And then I think he should be fined heavily and he should be...and he's not going to start. Should he be sitting for the game? Again, I think that's where my fan just takes over and I don't want him to sit for the game because I'm too selfish. I'm too selfish. If he was on another team, I'd be like, why isn't he sitting? I'm a hypocrite. Well, here's the thing. I'm a hypocrite. Here's the thing. He didn't get into an accident. He didn't. No, I'm serious. If he would have gotten to an accident and hit some other car. then I'd be way more like, you know, get this guy out for a couple games. Way, way bad. If, if something even worse happened, then, you know, you go that level. But the fact of the matter is he got pulled over because his windows were tinted. And happened to blow. Into the thing, you know twice the legal limit at five in the morning five in the morning, which is bad well, he didn't hurt anybody so I feel like there's a level of there are levels here and he's at like a Three when it could have been at a ten with something really really disastrous what happened. Again, if he wasn't a good player, I would say... He's not a great player, but he's what we need right now until another receiver comes back. Two things I think will come of this, he will not be back in the Jets next year. No, he won't. He's free agent, he'll be gone. He'll be gone. And then the other is that no one is more happy about that San Antonio Holmes pickup now, what was it, a fifth round pick or something? Four is a fifth round pick. I mean, that looks absolutely genius now, if San Antonio Holmes comes in and plays well. Another question, has Rex lost this team? And is this Animal House, they're calling it the Animal House? Is this, you know, because we have the Saints, the reporter issue, we have... That was nothing. It wasn't nothing. They were actually, I've heard from other people, that they were actually kind of saying things to her. Yeah, she was in a mirror with them. Yeah, but she has made her career on being... a sexy woman reporter and wearing sexy clothes around a group of 53 guys. I get it. That is partly her fault. I get it. You don't do that. If you want to be taken seriously as a sports reporter, as a female, you don't go in there as a sex symbol. You go in there as a reporter. But here's the thing. Here's what the NFL and the fans are saying. They're saying... It's out of control. There's an animal house mentality. You have players out, not just one, but let's talk about the other two. Because to me, Breland Edwards, okay, you're an idiot. You could have had a free drive home. You're in New York City. You can get millions of cabs or whatever you can get home, and it's free because the NFL will pick it up for you. They had told them about that the week before. There's all sorts of stupidity, but DeBrickishaw Ferguson and fucking Vernon
02 Justin: Goulston in that fucking car with you, that normally shows that you're complete idiots, right? That you're in a car with a drunk driver and everybody knows when you're pushing double, you look at it. And Vernon Goulston, DeBrickishaw, okay, you just signed your extension, that's not good. You should be, you know, whatever. And if you don't go to the Charleston, you should be home studying the fucking Bible. Every night. They should be sleeping. Honestly, don't they practice the next day? No, that's their day off. Tuesday's their day off. Oh, gotcha, that's why. But it's still, they were out partying on Monday night. So, and again, it's five o'clock in the morning. They were drunk. That's not, that's not, I went to a chair. They went to church. Jericho Cottry's charity event, but that's like I went to a charity event and it's like 11 and I'm heading home And I've had too many you know too many wine spritzers or something. This is five o'clock in the morning I've been out partying all night, and I'm still drunk That's it's just not good. I just I'm more worried about sort of the overall and then can Rex bring this team back together Let me go back to your original question. I don't think that they're apart I mean just because they're together They are! They're palling around! I mean, look, it's not like he's lost the locker room. Everyone loves this guy. It's not like they're rebelling against the coach because they're going out and drinking. They were going out and drinking and they got caught. If they didn't get caught, we wouldn't know about it. This happens all the time. I have to imagine that these guys go out. people. They're humans and they're in their 20s and they're hanging out together and that's cool. But the fact is you got caught. If you would have taken a cab you would not have heard about it or be upset about the fact that they're out drinking at night because the fact is people do that on their night off. Yeah. Alright. Alright. Alright, so let's talk a little bit about other Kingdom's worlds. Let's do it. Well, the England sucked. That's another Kingdom. It's awesome to watch the Rex Ryan post-game press conference and then the Belichick post-game press conference. They are literally the polar opposite of each other. They score more points. They executed better. What else? If you enjoyed the video, please subscribe to the channel and check out my other videos. What else did he say? What else did he say? They executed the ball. They had X's and O's. They did it better than we did. What else is there to say? He always ends. What else is there to say? No. What else is there to say? No good. The Bills suck. They are who we thought they were. Yep. And Miami e-tattle. We're going to talk about them beating Minnesota. We're going to talk about them beating Minnesota. I think yes, because we're going to talk about what we think about that game. So let's get right to our pick-em. Give me your Justin's Victorious pick-em for two weeks in a row. Uh, that's pretty good. You've been winning your what, three points ahead of me? I am winning by 16-13 last week. I won nine eight. Okay, so I've won two weeks in a row against you. I am winning 16 to 13. Our overall winner's name is Mike has 17. So I'm right there. You are.
04 Justin: But you're also along a lot of people like and Davey and the Hulgens and right and I'm yeah, I'm back. I'm not as bad as so so who won last week straight up who straight up? The best of last week. Okay, there was looks like Ken Davey, the Hooligans, you, Mike, and Falconfield Fat Boys. Nice name. Good name. Are all pick nine, I picked eight. So that's how I'm doing. I'm victory. The loser so far is Peg with seven. Peg. Yeah, I think that probably means she missed a week. No, she didn't, I looked. Oh, wow. She had five and two. Wow. I was gonna omit it because I don't wanna, you know, I don't wanna put a loser out there that hasn't picked in both weeks, but I checked and she did and that's no good. How you doing in your suicide? Two is bad. How you doing? Still alive in suicide? Me too. I think we're picking the same team this week. That's not good. I think we are. Last week I picked Green Bay. Yeah, me too. And I'm actually in two suicides. I picked Green Bay and I picked Atlanta in another one. I don't know why I mixed them up, but I did. They both worked out just fine for me. That's good for you. Should always pick against the Bills. All right, so as you know in the hallways, as you know, we're gonna do, so we do. New thing this season we're gonna go through every pick we're gonna leave the AFC East which is only two games We're gonna leave it to the end and we're gonna give a points game and points for those games But we're gonna pick every game kind of go through quickly. This is part of our jet Kingdom pick them Yep, and so we're gonna pick them with the spread. So you're gonna read them off. Yeah, I'm by one You're gonna just skip over not even mentioned the game Not even gonna mention them and we're gonna go one. I should mention that we are doing this on Wednesday. Yes The final line is Thursday. So we're actually picking against Wednesday's lines. We may go back the next day and change if the line moves, but for now we're going to pick against Wednesday's lines. So don't use these lines in your pools if they use Thursday's if you're listening to us for any sort of advice. That's way too much. That's way too much. Alright, so first game we have San Francisco on the road in Kansas City giving two and a half. How Kansas City is a home dog at 2-0 against an 0-2 team is ridiculous. I'm taking Kansas City. I'm taking Kansas City. They've been playing really well. That is a weird line, isn't it? Yeah, it's a weird line. Arrowhead's a tough place to play at home 2-0 against an 0-2 team. I think it's all about San Francisco's game against the Saints. On Monday night, though, short week, then to go on the road, it's odd. I don't know. I mean San Francisco had so many mistakes that like if they have half those mistakes They're not gonna think they're still living off what people thought they were gonna do in the preseason They are who they thought they aren't what that's right. Okay next game, Minnesota's home Giving 11 to Detroit. I'm picking Detroit on the road to cover here. Yeah, I'm not picking it's only because Minnesota I think is only scored 20 points in the last two games, something like that. So it's not that in one game they've never scored more than
03 Justin: 11 points, why would they be scoring more than now? Detroit's played some close games. And Detroit's played close. I agree. I'll go with Detroit. New England's home, hosting the lowly bills, which we'll talk about later. Our other AFC's game. Couldn't even do it. Couldn't skip over it. Good job. Well, we should mention the line. Well, because we're gonna talk about it. Alright. New Orleans is home. They are hosting Atlanta. New Orleans giving four. I think they're ready to explode. They haven't exploded yet. I'm picking New Orleans to win by more than four. Wow. Reggie Bush out. No way. Atlanta's been playing good. I'm gonna take Atlanta with the four points. Atlanta's not a great road team. That's true, but I'm gonna take Atlanta with the four points. We move on to the game at the New Meadowlands. The Giants are hosting Tennessee. The Giants are favored by three. I'm picking Tennessee. They're gonna win that game outright. This is a tough one because I think this is one that it could come down to a two or three point game. But yeah, I think I'm picking Tennessee as well. I think the Giants. You think? You already made your pick. Yeah, suffered. I suffered watching that Sunday night game. Miserable. It's hard watching any team against the Colts because you can't tell if the Colts are doing it to them or is it them. But, you know, Eli Manning has had four picks this season already. The Carolina Three, the Carolina Stinks. Yeah, so I think Tennessee will see. Vince Young is... benched so it's up to is he benched i think he is you think he started yeah but he's on a short leash because they benched him last week i don't think that's the case okay all right um i think he was just playing down that yeah he'll run for 200 yards uh battle with two and oh teams pit Pittsburgh goes to Tampa and Pittsburgh is actually favored by two and a half I'm gonna pick them you pick Pittsburgh on the road. Yeah, Charlie batch or Byron left, which whoever it might be Campas, I mean they're two and over Charlie back anybody said this Charlie batch They're they're not gonna be able to score on Pittsburgh that that could be a game that finishes like 6-3. Great then I'll take Tampa on that. Why? If it finishes 6-3, Pittsburgh will cover it. No, I think Tampa's gonna win. They're gonna be 3-0, that's gonna be disgusting. Well I think it's gonna happen. I think Kansas City and Tampa Bay are gonna be 3-0. That will be disgusting. Yeah, so there you go. Cincinnati goes to Carolina and gives 3 points. Carolina sucks, we're both picking Cincy. I didn't even know what I think. I didn't even know, I just, whatever. Baltimore's home, they're facing Cleveland, they're giving 10 and a half. I'm picking Cleveland, because Baltimore hasn't scored more than 10 in a game, and Cleveland's Mangini at the helm, his strategy is to play close games and then lose at the end. So I'm picking Cleveland. I'm picking Cleveland too. Again, Baltimore scored two games of 10 points. Why would I think... They're gonna win by more than 10 points. Yeah, in whatever. Well, they're in Baltimore. They're in Baltimore, but whatever.
01 Justin: Big game in Texas. The 2-0 Houston Texans are home to the 0-2 Dallas Cowboys. It's a must win for the Cowboys. And Houston's giving 3. I'm picking Houston. They look great. and giving up a lot of passing yards. That's fine. They're scoring a ton of points. I'm picking Houston because Dallas looks like crap and I'd love for them to be 0-3 going into their bye week. That's fun. Oh, that's brutal. I think Houston's gonna win out right now I think they'll win by more than three. All right, Washington on the road in St. Louis giving three and a half. I'm picking Washington. St. Louis isn't very good. Rookie quarterback. I don't like it. There's nothing good to like about St. Louis. Not watching wins. Yeah. I'm more than three and a half. Philly, led by Michael Vick. On the road in Jacksonville, they are favored by three. I'm picking Jacksonville. I think this is a game where Jacksonville plays good at home and the wheels start to come off for the Michael Vick led. No, I think I think Eagles will win by more than three points and they'll win the game. We're different there. There you go. Um, Indy on the road at Denver giving five and a half. I think Indy wins this game handily. And by more than five and a half. Yeah. Arizona's home to Oakland. What a crap game that is. I'll take Arizona and give him four to Oakland. Oh, I'll take Oakland because of the, you got Grzebowski's in there now, Grabakowski, Grabakowski. Grabakowski, whatever. He's gonna add a little bit of spark. I don't believe in Arizona. So I'm gonna take Oakland. I'm just taking the home team to win by a touchdown. San Diego's on the road at Seattle. San Diego giving five and a half. Seattle is a tough place to play. I'm gonna pick Seattle in this game. Yeah, I'm gonna take San Diego. I think this is the week they bounce back. Now that they haven't traded away their number one wide receiver, I think this is the week they bounce back. I don't believe in Seattle yet at all. Well, I don't think Seattle is gonna be very good either, but they're at home and that's a tough place to play. This is one of those teams that I think they need to get destroyed at. So next game is the next game. Next game is the Monday Night Game. Excellent. Yes, what's that game? This is a really good Monday Night Game. This is a hot Monday Night Game. Green Bay is on the road in Chicago. Division rivalry game. We have some good prime time games, good division prime time games this week. Green Bay is giving three at Chicago. I'm going to pick Green Bay. They're going to put up some points against Chicago. It's gonna be a shootout though. I think it was shootout. I think Green Bay has a better Defense, so I think they will win by more than three points. Alright, so let's circle the wagons As the Buffalo Bills do according to Chris Berman. Yes and hop back to New England who's home Against the bills biggest spread of the week as you would expect a 14-point spread a couple things going for New England
04 Justin: They don't generally lose to in a row They certainly don't lose that second one at home and they don't lose to the worst team in the league the Buffalo Bills So it's a 14-point spread. I know we're not picking against the spread because this is our we both will pick it against the spread and picking New England and then give me this and then the final score for our throne picks I have it 35 10 New England so I'm not picking New England I don't I think they're gonna win the game but I think it's the spread you're picking the bills but for against the spread I'm picking the bills I think that those will they'll be in there I don't again there's also a point about 14 point spread that There's a point of when you're up by 10 and it's whatever to go in the half or at the end of the game, you play a different game than if you're up by... Not New England. They don't do that. Again, I don't think New England, that's New England from the past. I think that's New England from this year. I didn't see them throwing millions against us. Again, I don't think Buffalo Bills, but I just did something in me that thinks that that's, I wish I could have a point five in the line because I'm really worried that it's going to end 14 points, a 14 point game. So having said that, I said it's 26-13. So I made it a 13 point game. Yeah, there you go. 26 and a half to 13. I was going to do 26 and a half, but I didn't know how. That would happen. Alright, so now let's get to the Game of Century. Game of the Century. Game of the Millennium. For the AFC East. For the AFC Championship in the third week. We can go home with the championship. The 2 and 0 Dolphins are hosting the 1 and 1 New York Jets and the Dolphins are giving Two and a half and in some places I've seen it as one and a half but in our little well, it's gone down It's going up. It's going up. So it's well leave us being out on top. Bring on Edwards down That's another so it might actually finish somewhere closer to three But right now it's two and a half wouldn't be surprised if it's three three and a half by And I'm picking the Jets. Of course I'm picking the Jets. But let's talk about this game because this is... Sure. Should we give our scores and then talk about it? Sure. So my score is Jets 9, Dolphin 6. That's just ridiculous. I'll go 24-17. So I think that the whole... Should we talk about our last week... What we did last week in our throne picks and then maybe talk about this game We were 20 with two and one two and one you were or you I was two and one I had You are beating me in front big I had the Jets winning 1713 yep, I had Miami at Minnesota. I had Minnesota winning by 114 13 that was close And then I had Green Bay kicking buffaloes, but 38 10 which was really Yeah, I got the green bay. I got the Jets and Green Bay. I miss Miami So I went two and one yeah, all right, so let's talk about this game Yeah, so I there's three questions. I think that to ask about the doll, please ask me and I will answer them
04 Justin: Okay, three questions Well, I just want to throw it out there at full disclosure my wife is a diehard dog we know all know this Well, I don't know 82 episodes. Maybe there's a new one. Everyone knows that your wife is a hardcore dolphin fan Okay, so we will be watching this. This is the this is the week our marriage takes the most hits For two weeks a year. I will tell you that we are almost always at the game this week We can't beat at the game. We almost always go down to Miami for it We can't go this year because we just basically got back from a thing this weekend so we can't go again. But we are going to go down for the Bears game, Miami Bears game, because of Thursday night. So I think there's three things about the Dolphins that I think have not been answered. Can they be the team, a winning team? So a winning team to me means a team that has won a game. Now I know it's a little early but they basically played Minnesota Vikings who look like crud. They've lost two games, one of which the Dolphins did. They've also played the Bills who've lost two games. The worst team in the league. So is this a team that can beat teams? Good teams, right? Or teams that can actually beat other teams? That's one. Two is- Should I be remembering these? No. a two is, can they stop the run? They gave up a lot to AP. AP is one of the best in the league. He is one of the best in the league, but when you give up a 145 burger to somebody, that's a lot of yards. And I'm not saying that we have AP on our team, because we don't, but we've got a good running attack and if they're giving up that kind of yards... It shows me that they can't stop the run. So that's the two. The third is, can they score points on offense, right? This is a team that I think won. I think that's the biggest question. 15 to something and 14 to 10, something like that. So I mean, they're not, I think two of those were, you know, defensive. One was a defensive. And then, you know, you got a bunch of field goals in there. So the question is, Can he score offensive touchdowns and enough to to make a difference? Well, I have it nine six, so I don't have them scoring a touch. You don't have us scoring touch. No, I know This is gonna be a really low scoring Battle of the trenches running the ball a lot of punting a lot of field position Two very good defenses. We're gonna score a touchdown. I don't know. I'm telling you, we're gonna score a touchdown. And I think we're gonna score more than touchdowns, because I think they're gonna let... I also think this is the game that we're gonna see a little bit of a comeback from Mark Sanchez. I see a pick in this game. I hope it's not like a game ender pick, but you know, they're gonna allow him to throw the ball more. They're going to allow him to take more. chances so that way I think there's gonna be a couple breaks and I think this is also a game that we're gonna really get to see Sean Green turn it on again I think this is a gadget game you like a gadget plays I think so I think we're gonna see a lot of Wildcat think we're gonna because with Braylon out
03 Justin: we're gonna have to do something different can't just line up gonna be out he's only gonna sit for like you can't just well you know not that to you can't just line up and and and you know, if you don't have another receiver out there that can actually catch the ball or run a route or get open, then you can stop the run. You just say they're running. So I think we're going to see some Brad Smith at quarterback. I think we're going to see Tomlinson maybe throw the ball. I really bring out all the weapons right here, right? For the back. It's a big game. It's a division game. You don't want Miami going 3-0 when you're 1-2 and you don't want them being 2-0 in the division so early in the season. And then you want to win these road division games. They're good games to win. So I think we will see a little trickery, a little, oh those tricky jets, maybe a fake punt or something. I believe last year. Yeah, you know, we'll see. We'll see what's going on, what the situation is. I think you're going to see two halves, that's all I'm saying. Whatever's not working in the first half is going to start working in the second half. So I think you might start with that kind of crap, but I think towards the end it's going to be ground and pound and then get Sanchez in the position to throw with the right throw and pick up big yards. Again. Do I think the Dolphins are a better team than the Patriots? I don't know. I don't think so. I mean, I don't think Patriots are looking very good, but I don't think they're a better team than the Patriots. Right now? The Pats are good. We beat a good team. So then, you know, and we put up more than a few points on them. So it's interesting you think we're not even... Well Miami's defense is better than the Patriots' defense. Who they played at such a great offensive powerhouse? They're better on defense than they are on offense. Against Minnesota, there was two scores that Minnesota gave up. One was AP got stopped at the one, could have pumped in. I'm saying that if there was a Jets, we would have gone in. The other one is they coughed up the ball on the one. A different play. But off at the bomb, why isn't that the defense making plays? Because that ball bounced 500 ways from sideways and they ended up with it. So what? And it wouldn't have been it was a trick. I mean, it was it was lucky. It was like this last year. There's those two plays in order to place three of us. One where it bounces off Steve Smith's leg and bounces up into his hands. That was unbelievably lucky. And the second one was where it like the guy didn't catch it. I think it was against San Diego and it kind of rolled around and everybody was just having the ground and it landed right into. and he picked it up off his leg. Those things don't happen that often. They're both game changers in some ways. I think Carolina, we were kind of beating them more than that. But anyway, I think we're gonna win, but I think it's gonna be bigger than it looks. I think we're actually gonna, and maybe put some of this rest of, you know, is Sanchez ready for prime time? comments. And are we really the team we say you are? And if our defense is good, I think we can keep them, you know. Our defense is going to be good.
01 Justin: I work with a lot of these people. I want Jason, so I have a bet with a dolphin fan. Not my wife, but another one. And the bet is about Jason Taylor-Sachs on Chad Henney. So my bet is he did an over-under, and he took the under. What is it? It's one. Can't do one. He did one. Well, we did one. That's a bad over under. One and unders he took. One and under. One and unders sacks. I'm taking two and over. That's not an over under. You can't have it as one. It's got to be a half or one and a half. Well, he's taking one sack or under. So one or zero. So the over under is 1.5. No, it's 0.5. Well, it's 1.5 because he's taking under 1.5. I'm taking over 1.5. Okay. Yeah, so he's taking one under and I'm taking anything above Who wins if it's one and a half one and half sacks didn't think about the one and half sacks No, I would win because it's over one Okay So all I'm saying is Jason Taylor if you're listening to spot casket I know you are please two sacks right now. I'm driving around in that expensive car I can't figure out where to go and he's listening to a podcast and I can put a sweet sweet Bit of money in my pocket if you have like we're legal if game we were you go I have two other best with him too, which there we'll bring up later on all right Well, that's it for a very long episode of the jet human podcast 49 minutes 50 minutes thought we'd give the fans what they want.
