09 Justin: The best place to be is when expectations are high. Get used to it. It's always going to be that way. Get away from me! Jake: Welcome to Jake King podcast. I'm just running a new Jeff's podcast ever. Period. I'm Batman. I'm Jake. That was good. And joining me from his week off. The fuck out of here Shut your Did you not, 63, 2.5 No Which came out shut the front door Uh, yes. First of all, on the agenda today Oh, hi Justin Nice to see you Thank you Hello Uh, the agenda is an apology We had every right meaning and feeling to do a podcast. Last week, we were both both For those of you who don't know, we actually worked together. So we were traveling the same place, but it was... When I say almost impossible, I mean... Justin: No, it was impossible! Jake: We probably could've squeaked out like a five minute... Justin: We could've done a ten minute one. If they won a game, we would've done ten minutes maybe. Stewars, Jets lost. Fuck you! Predictions. Jake: Jets beat Miami. Done. I'm out! Done. Right. Uh, done. So we're sorry, we're back. We're also sorry, Justin: we're back to one mic today. Yes. Just because when we were traveling, it just, we're in a place with only one mic. The two mics, well the two mics are out where we were. Yeah. They'll be back next week. Because we were gonna podcast, but we did. Yeah. So that's our, that's our... bad and that's our dedication level to the podcast. Jake: And we're sorry to all the sponsors. Yeah, all the sponsors. We're sorry to all the paying subscribers. Justin: Oh yeah, all those too. Jake: Yes, and all the... Justin: So we're sorry to nobody is what you're saying. Jake: Oh fuck you if you don't like it. Anyway, so we... Basically, we're gonna skip over the Jets versus Steelers game. Yeah, we're gonna pretend that didn't happen. By the way, we lost. We lost. Here's the news flash. We lost. We lost. It was ugly. Offensive, horrible. Balls were dropped. Justin: There's no way we're in the world we're gonna win that game. We're not gonna stop the Steelers without Dorell Davis, were we? Jake: Both of us sat and still on the podcast and lied through our teeth when we picked the Jets to win. and we'll never do that again. We're very sorry. Justin: No, I promise you I will not do that again. Jake: But, uh... Justin: Remember that promise. Jake: Oh, really? You're picking against the Jets? Just remember that promise. Alright, fuck you. I'm not picking against the Jets. Ever. Um, alright. So then there was the Jets versus the Miami game. Where were you for this game? I was in my AMSKE. Justin: I was at the game. Where were your seats? I was on the field for the entire. Oh, you were on the field. I was on the field. Oh. Jake: Yeah, so. That's so cute. I have some connections, and they're not very good. But no, so there's a thing in Miami.
00 Jake: This is not untoward. It's not like I was sitting next to. It's not like my wife went up and stuff. Thanks for watching. I'll see you next time. and shook the hands of Stephen Ross in the way. Justin: Oh, wait. Oh, wait. Yes, she did. Hello, owner of team. Yeah. Hey, how are you? Get referees back on field. Jake: So they have something called the Ford sideline club at that thing. And it's not they're not your ticket. You have tickets in the stadium and then you get to go to the spot. Justin: You had you had a it's like the coaches club. Yes, it is. Jake: Club hat. They come with tickets like. Justin: to 12 rows up and it comes with a coach and you get to go stand on the field Jake: But you can't buy the coaches cubs by itself, right the actual club by it like you can literally Justin: Oh, you could just buy the club. Yeah, you just go. I just want to go stand on the field game But you need a ticket like you could buy the upper $5 ticket by the $60 ticket in Miami They're like 20 bucks. They got to fill that Right. They are the ones I bought were 60. No way through in Miami. Those are more expensive than Jets tickets at this point. Yeah I think so. That's incredible. I mean I can pull them out of my pocket. I don't care. I use them later. It doesn't matter. To get into a place for free. Oh you did, did you? I didn't know that that was a deal at that place. Jake: That's a good deal. Free drinks. Free drinks. See it in Fort Lauderdale. It's awesome. That's a really good deal. Yeah so anyway yeah I want so you get to go and there's like a club and then you go through the tunnel and then you go out onto the field and you can You basically can stand right on the field during the game. You're 10 feet from the sideline. You know, it kind of goes, it bows around. So behind the players, you can't stand behind the players, but you can stay on the sidelines towards the end zone. It was awesome. I mean, it was just, not only did we win and thank God, but like it was a truly fun experience. I've now seen games from all, I've seen them from the highest. ... Most wonderful like sweets. I've seen them from great sweets. I've seen them from my seats. I've seen them from the worst seats in the stadium. I've been on the field before. I've now watched the entire game from the field level and while it is a fun experience, I would never I would never want to do that every week because as you know and you're a short guy. Justin: It's tough. I mean, it's really tough. I've had second row At the at the uh giant stadium at the old stadium second row Lowered level so literally second row of the stadium and I couldn't see I couldn't see over the players. They're so big Jake: I've had first row in the dolphins in the end zone and again, it's the same thing Enzone's a little different because you're not I was on the 50 we were up. No, I was on the 50 Justin: In the second row. Yeah, so you'd be like whoa. Oh right, but then you got players right in front of you Can't see a goddamn thing these guys are like monsters Jake: Yeah, so the nice thing about that is when they're close to me almost got hit by a ball that ball that that
04 Jake: Carmarti deflected like it that it literally came like two feet from my head like just right by me That was cool. The warming up was awesome. I mean, they're just, because then there's no cameras around them, so like they're just warming up. You're just, you're literally feet from them. So anyway, really cool. The game itself, I saw a part of it really close and the other part I watched on my fan vision and I watched off on the big screen. It's nice that in the stadium they have two huge screens, so you don't feel like you're missing much. But, uh, yeah, I, uh... Justin: Can we just talk about how horrible of a game this was? Jake: It's the worst and best game ever, because we won. We won in overtime against the Dolphins and the V We won. And that's all it is. We're 2-0 in the AFC East. Justin: Don't yell over me. It was awful. It was an awful performance by pretty much everybody on the field. Ah! Everybody. Everybody. Everybody. Including Tim Tebow. Everybody. Tim Tebow had a ball bounce off his helmet. Yeah. What I'm really concerned Jake: about, let's not talk, we don't have to talk about the numbers or whatever because we've got a big podcast to get into. I don't have a lot to talk about. Yeah. But what I'm really concerned about, the big thing for me... It's not the protection. Yes, he's having protection problems, but watching Aaron Rodgers get sacked eight times in the first quarter, like, Mark Sanchez should be buying all of his offensive line a fucking... Justin: No, they're adequate, if not better than adequate pass blockers. They can pass block. He's got time. Jake: Two big problems. One... the drops. I don't know if it's just me or if I'm getting really sensitive to it, but there are so many times when balls are in somebody's hands. I'm not talking above their hands, behind their hands, whatever, but like when a ball is around your hands, it should be pulled in and those, if half the drop balls in that game would have been a blowout. They were touchdowns dropped, they were like, I just, it's driving me crazy because it seems like there's tons of them. You watch the replay of the game, it looks like it's throw catch, throw catch, throw catch. You're at the game, it's like drop ball, drop ball, you know, maybe four yard run. Kick. It wasn't even drop. It wasn't even. Is there a stat I can get on drops where we're going to find drops? Justin: Yeah, I think you can find them in the I think you can find them just in a regular box score. I imagine you can you can find drops. I'm sure if you just ESPN's got to have that. Jake: Drop, okay. Have everything. Justin: But if you watched, you know, Stephen Hill dropped a touchdown. Yep. Right in his hands dropped it. Great pass, right in his hands dropped it. And it's not just drops. It's also just bad. bad receivers like the technique the the route running is bad like you saw the first pick the first pick that Sanchez threw was an awful route by a guy who was cut by the Dolphins who's now a receiver on the Jets the Dolphins don't have
01 Justin: receivers They cut a receiver. This guy's on the field for us. How does that happen? How is that possible? So he runs a bad route. He runs, instead of cutting like a 90 degree angle, he kind of runs more of a post. And Sanchez thinks he's cutting across the field. Instead he goes up the field, pick. Maybe who knows whose fault that is the second pick that Sanchez threw more than likely Sanchez fault I've heard a little bit. It was like Oh Cumberland ran the wrong route. So his guy was able to peel off of him That was an awful throw anyway, it doesn't matter Jake: And he was double cover it's a guy that's covered on top and bottom like well Justin: He was covered on bottom because the guy brought Cumberland brought his guy over apparently Cumberland wasn't supposed to be there and he brought his guy over which is why you know He threw into two guys instead of one right either way bad throw that's on Sanchez completely But these receivers are awful with no dust and color. There's no other thread So it's it's tone time all the time and that's it. We're really afraid of Jake: K. Ruland. Yeah, no, they're not. I don't know Justin: Not scared of him not scared of Jeff Cumberland not scared of Tim Tebow coming out of the backfield It's San Antonio Holmes is the only guy you have to cover because guess what Hill's gonna drop it He's now got more drops in the last two weeks than he does catches and I'll stick with my bet of under eight And you're, oh now, now? Jake: I'll still take it. Justin: Good, we're on. Jake: So we have a couple changes to make. First of all, Green goes second tier, Palau goes first. Palau. Palau. Palau. Palau. Palau. Palau. Palau. I think he's the starter. You gotta start him. And here's the other thing, I want McKnight back. I want McKnight back in the game plan. Like he had one carry and it was a weird play. Like, I want him back, because I feel like while he isn't the guy to bust through, he's a guy with sneaky speed. Like, get him back in the plan, because this whole Sean Green experiment, it's over. Our offensive line maybe can't block for shit. They were going up against one of the best run defenses. Think of this, they allowed 108 yards rushing. Between two teams the Texans and the Raiders with two of the top Yeah, those are good running teams. Yeah, and they allowed a hundred yards. So I didn't expect we were gonna run on them There's no way we're gonna run on them. But and we'll see what let's play a bad team with a bat We're not playing this week and we're not playing the week after that But let's play like someone with a bad defense and let's see if we can run and a Tim Tebow thing, I think they just need to figure out what it is they want to do. It feels like every week it's like, hey, what do you want to do this week? You want to put out these toys? Let's try it this way. It's like, I love the fake punt. Great, right? Great. Yeah, that worked. He's a weapon. He has weapons. We just have to figure out how to use him effectively. Anyway, any more about that point? We got really lucky. We got really lucky. We also got some crap calls against us. Everyone did.
06 Justin: That catch. Nowhere on the planet is that a catch. No, but everyone got bad calls. We'll talk about the refs later. Which side were the bad calls where you were? Were you on the side that lost the game? We were on both sides. Everyone got bad calls. There's calls everywhere that are made, that aren't made, that are sometimes made. La la la la. Doesn't matter. We got super early is that out there for you super lucky 10th fourth quarter comeback by Mark Sanchez That's good, I mean look he went down and scored 10 points in the fourth quarter. He scored a touchdown at the end of the game and really the defense should have Just won the game in the fourth quarter. There's there's no excuse for that there's no excuse for letting a rookie quarterback drive down the field for To allow a team to tie a game especially Cromartie getting beat on that long pass. That's bullshit That's that's not something that let's move on That's not something that Cromartie is allowed to do anymore. You can't get beat like that when Reavis is not on the field. Because you've got to be the number one guy and you can't get beat by a rookie in the last two minutes of a game on a 40 yard pass. Jake: I don't think he's an emerald guy. I honestly think every matchup that's just happened, they're not going to put. I wouldn't put Camardio on the number one receiver. I wouldn't. I don't think he's got the speed. I don't think he's got the coverage skills. I don't think he's got it. I will put, I'm sorry, but I'll put Wilson on the other guy. and keep the game plan is you're the cover number two. I don't think he has the ability to cover the number one. I think Wilson will have, well, here's the thing. They're going to throw at the number one and he'll have the chance to do something spectacular. He might fail miserably, but I would not put Camardia. Camardia gets beat too often. You put him against Larry Fitzgerald, we're fucked. We're fucked. Justin: Camardia only gets beat really often because he's always thrown at. Because you don't throw the other way You're always watching chromatica beat because you don't but in the second game they threw against Jake: I mean they threw against commodity more than they threw against even when we was without Justin: Bill he was the guy getting beat on the Steelers game. He got beat guys get beat Guess what? There's a handful of cornerbacks in the league that you can say cover that guy And then one of them is no longer playing. Nobody else is Dorell Revas. All right, so let's talk about it. Awesome why I got beat the last two weeks for touchdowns by receivers. And it's like, you know, all of a sudden he's no good? Maybe, I don't know, but. So, okay. So Revas is out. Season, we know this. Jake: Yeah. Let's pick some nights. It's hard to pick a night in a game we sucked but won. I'm gonna pick a night and play the game. Thank you. Do it now. It's really impossible. I'm going to pick Nick Folt. Sorry. I'll pick that. And you win the fucking game. I watch another. Oh, OK. You pick him. Good. I think Dan Carpenter missed two of them, two out of three.
02 Jake: So I'll pick the guy who actually made the game and won the game for us. Listen, that's pressure. That's overtime. Even when the first one was blocked because they called a penalty. the Alright, call the timeout. Thank you for icing your own team. Uh, yeah, Nick, folks, thanks, buddy. Great. I'm gonna stay on special teams then. Justin: I'm gonna pick big, big Bobby Malone. Big Robert Malone. What was I yelling for in preseason? Get me a real punter. Yep. We have a real punter. Did he pun- Well? He punted amazing remember I'm down in the field of I couldn't see anything average 45.7 on six punts four of them inside the 20 nice that's he has the ability to bomb it a 61 yard long He does all TJ Connelly was the worst Okay And this guy's decent and in a game like that where it's close and it's tight and it's gonna come down in the end The punter actually is important. Yeah, so we have I don't know where we found him But Robert Malone, first time that he's ever been mentioned. What's your play of the game? That curly, long, really long catch and run route. That was a big play. Right in front of the defense. I mean, it didn't end up scoring a touchdown, and we didn't end up scoring a touchdown. Jake: Not the touchdown. Justin: It was just a big play because it was like, man, we're not moving. And to pick up. It was something crazy. It was a chunk. It was a 66 yard catch. So to pick up 66 on one play is huge. Big in a game where you're not going anywhere. So that to me was my play of the game. I could easily have probably picked his touchdown catch as well just because, you know, that was just. Jake: That's why I didn't pick him because he's now stood up kind of big time in two games. Justin: Curly, I'm sure getting picked up on a few fantasy roster. He might be. He scored a couple times. He's getting the yards He's the sneaky guy cuz he's the guy in the slot. I did see a funny home story Jake: He went to do the drop after a thing. Yeah, the ref was right there Like literally like like literally next to him and he did just move it over and drop it to his hands. I was like That's what you should do every time. No, you should just hand the ball to the guy. So, alright, we'll talk about the defense when we get into the next game. Other kingdoms. So, well crazy crazy game. Well crazy crazy game of football with the refs. It's out of hand now. First two weeks, I was willing to take a few flubs, a few missed calls. Those happen every single year. And I think here's the thing, once the real rest come back, they're still gonna happen. I think people go, oh yeah, real rest still made those mistakes and we're being super critical. But there have been a couple examples that are so bindingly bad that they would never have happened. Justin: Here's why it got out of hand this week. Because the worst two offenses happened on Sunday night and Monday night I'm testable is one Sunday is just well amount of just the amount of flags the sheer number of
05 Justin: Utterly ridiculous calls with and it and it seems to happen a lot with pass interference and they don't call Connor fairs they either don't call it or they call it offensive holding Or they or they they or they just miss it completely or they you know in in the Pats got kind of screwed You know that how does how does Baltimore drive down the field at the end of the game to score with a 40 yard pass interference, right? You know and it didn't even seem like Pat the Announcers are like befuddled. Yeah, al michaels isn't sitting there like I didn't know what to say like that was Awful and how are they letting them just go down the field and do this and then I mean just the uncertainty around Calls like like I mean we could go right to Monday night, which was egregious. It was it was awful One of the worst things I've ever seen in my life if that was my team If the Packers if that was the Jets, yeah I would be fucking ripped shit. I don't think I would have slept that night. I would have been so So upset like I Gotta give credit to Mike McCarthy the head coach because he handled it with Supreme class wouldn't rip them after the game Just subtly but like really wouldn't talk about it didn't want to take the question You think had to come out here's the thing here. Just sorry. I know but just one thing his boss Jake: is the guy who's making the decision. So it's like, you have to figure, here's the deal. Owners, the guy who owns the team, they put the general managers and the head coaches together. They're the ones who want this to happen. It's not Roger Goodell, it's not the NFL. The NFL is a shell of a company. It's those 32 people up there. Alright, we'll see you next time. They control it, the consortium. So a coach shouldn't say anything. You know why? Because his boss is the one who's making it happen. Justin: I don't know who owns the Packers from that perspective. Jake: Oh, well, that's the owners of the Packers right there. Justin: OK, the other 31 teams. Well, his particular scenario is different than maybe others. I'm sure they have a council or something, a board, president, whatever. But either way. Class they have to come back out and kick that extra point after having been able to go back to the locker room and see the goddamn Thing on on TV to then send 12 guys or 11 guys back out there Very classy because I mean I thought to myself like what would I do and that's the kind of you looking? I was like wow some really bad things like you learn about yourself like put try and put yourself in that I see fit don't his he fit I would have done one of two things. I would have said, nobody's going out there. We're not doing this. They can kick the extra point without us standing there. They can run it in for two without us standing there, but we are not playing defense on that play. Or secondly, I try and hold it against them and be like, you know what? Go out there and fucking hurt somebody.
01 Justin: Throw a shit fit. And and and hit the kicker late and and show them fuck them They're gonna make us come out here embarrassed like this after they jobbed us like that. Fuck them We're gonna hurt somebody and make them feel the pain Like those were the two things that were going through my head that I would do and I'm like wow I'm a bad person and here's but that's how I felt about it. Here's the situation. So I tweet the other day. I said Jake: Dear NFL, can I use my replacement tickets to go to the game this week? They're made of toilet paper. Like, the reality is, like, this is where it just frustrates me the most, is they talk about putting the best product forward. They talk about safety. And every announcer said this, so I'm not saying anything new. But it's like I have no control over it. I've already paid for my ticket. Even if I didn't go to the game, it wouldn't matter a lick. Right, I pay top dollar. In fact, they found out that the study came up that the Jets and Patriots are the top two paying fans. The fans pay the most amount of money to go to the games. So I'm one of the top two between the Patriots and the Jets. I pay the most amount of money. I have expensive seats. I pay $9.75 at a beer. And yet, they're arguing with these guys about tiny amounts of money. And here's the thing, even if they get them to come down in money or save money or whatever, I'm not gonna see a fucking penny. It's not like they're gonna lower the ticket prices next year if they get the negotiation. It's different with the NFL, with the players. That was a huge piece of the thing, like it's 120 million dollars a year. You could see how that would affect... the price of football, right if the player's got $250 million a year in roster, tickets would go up, right? I knew that that affected my personal life, but I know that this won't. I know this has nothing to do with anything that I do except for it puts a worse thing on the field that I still have to pay for, and I still have to pay premium for it. So it's like, that's what really bugs me is that they're making me pay. They're actually, I've already paid for something that's a certain product and now you've swapped out the product and you're giving me, it's like I buy a Diet Coke but inside is cheapo Coca Cola. It's like, well wait a second, I already bought a 12 pack last summer and now I find out half of them have been replaced. I want my money back. Oh no, it's, yeah, yeah, you fucked me. So now I'm getting paid. Justin: The packers were really jobbed. I mean, they had so many things go against them. The offensive. Well, here's the thing. Jake: If that play hadn't happened, I'm sorry to interrupt you. If that play hadn't happened. Listen, that's twice. Yeah. Well, three times. I'm counting. Three times and I hit you. If that play hadn't happened, the pack would deserve to lose that game. They were horrible. Justin: Rodgers was getting raped. But their defense wasn't. Their defense held Seattle to one touchdown. Yeah. And that, in my mind, that's what they did. And that's, sorry to say, that's how they won the Super Bowl two years ago. They, I remember when we played them, I think they shot us at, they shot us out 9-0. Jake: 9-0, that's right. Justin: That's how they won, when they won the Super Bowl. Jake: Well, last year they were the offense. Fine, and they didn't.
01 Justin: So, so big deal. So you scored a million points, you didn't win the Super Bowl. But look, they. They got completely hosed. They pick off Wilson. They get called for crap roughing the pass there. They then get a really happy pass interference called against them when it was really pass interference. It was totally obvious. And then the lastly with the with the Hail Mary with the offensive interference which whatever that happens all the time but totally caught they should so blame no one should be worrying about this whole catch thing because the guy goes up from behind him and pushes it pushes yeah and then which the green bay guy clearly caught the ball first exactly clearly it wasn't even close you count and then what are they looking at in the replay booth because apparently they're not allowed to replay that That scenario of a multi-catch or whatever. Jake: But the touchdown, you can recall anything. Justin: But apparently the scenario of, did he catch the ball, that particular scenario is not reviewable. So all they were reviewing was, was he in bounds? Was it a catch or was it dropped? Not who caught it first. First. That was not reviewable. This is so dumb. This is what I say if you're gonna give people only three review Jake: Although I guess in the 49ers game and I'm gonna cut you off for just a second. Do it Justin: These two assholes are standing there And one goes touchdown and one goes time at times or in completion or interception Why didn't they just stop for two seconds look at each other Say what do you got right and one say to the other I got an interception and the other ones say I got a touchdown Not do anything Wait for the referee the guy with the microphone in the white cap on to come over have a little talk. Yep and Figure the fucking thing out. I totally agree They probably thought we could call this a touchdown then they'll go review it not knowing that once they get on the mic the headphone There's a real NFL person in there that's telling them what you can actually like overturn or not and him saying Yeah, you guess what you can't you can't say who here's the thing about replay Jake: So this every year if you're gonna have replay and you're gonna limit you're gonna limit the amount of replays that can happen by a coach Then I feel like the coach should be able to replay anything. I mean anything. Did that fly over happen at 70,000 miles an hour? Whatever they want, because they only got three of them, so they want to spend them or two. They only got two. Well, they want to spend them on literally a first down or a third down or a touchdown or a field goal or did it go wide left? Whatever they want. Justin: Yeah. How absurd is that in the Pats game that you can't review? Like, why is there not technology? that can understand whether the football went through or not.
00 Justin: Why is there not a camera of the 86 million cameras Jake: that are- It's supposed to extend perpetual- Justin: Why is there not a laser or something? Laser beam. Laser beam. Why is there not something that just extends or a chip in the ball that knows? Like they have this at tennis matches where they can track 140 mile an hour serve whether it was- in or out. Why can't a football traveling at not 140 miles an hour know where it is? I mean you watch a baseball game they know exactly where the baseball is and that thing's traveling at 98 miles an hour and they can tell if it's a striker or not. Jake: But they still wait but they still get the guy's eye is the one who picture. Justin: Sure but if they needed to they could rely on the technology to say that was a striker ball and those umpires are graded on that. Jake: Yeah I think... I agree. I just if you're gonna give me absurd I think you give them one more review and say they can review anything and it should just be anything I don't care within the within the time of the game. So it can't be anything happens. Let's move on cuz I only have about 25 minutes All right So refs suck your fuck you the week to read to rest after the weeks to the rest no to me It's not the rest the rest of nothing to do with this. It's the NFL and the owner whoever whoever fucked it up Alright, let's talk about the Sportsful Fantasy League. How did you do last week? Justin: Well, let's start off by looking at the standings page. Yes. And you'll notice that among 10 teams, there's one team that's 3-0. And that one team that's 3-0... The New York broadcasters, baby. Jake: The Lick Podcasters are gonna kill you this week because we're going head to head! Justin: We're going head to head this week? Head to head! Really? Oh, I can't wait to crush you. You're not crushing shit. I can't wait to kill you. You're not, let's see. I thought I was head to head. I looked it up today. I thought, yep, we're going head to head. Oh, that's awesome. Who's your jet? That. My jet is is that tight end? I can't wait till curly catches a touchdown and I'm rubbing it right in your face So anyway those who don't know we scored the most this week let's just look at a jet no no Jets over the pond mark tees had one eight Jake: That's pretty good. That's a good score. No one else got above I had ninety. I had 96 Justin: My team's pretty good Was his big guy Yeah, Antonio owns AJ Green had a great game. Yeah, Maddie Maddie ice And Robbie Gould is kicker. I mean he had a lot of He has DeAngelo Williams playing. Wow that's He had a lot of good guys going Alright so we play that. That's fun Looks like uh I'm 3-0 so I'm ecstatic Pretty good. I got a great team too So you're fucked In a league that doesn't matter. No it's fun It matters completely. What are you talking about? Jake: I'm 2-1. I'm in. I'm in for the You're screwed I'm gonna crush you Next up, we have Jet Kingdom Pick'em. Let's do our picks. For those who don't know, we pick every game with the spread, and then we go and pick throne
02 Jake: picks which are the AFC East, and then we talk about the Jets, give keys to the castle, so let's go with Joy. How did we do this? Justin: How did we do this past week? I got seven. Jake: You went seven. Justin: And you got nine. I'm still ahead of you. I've got 27. You've got 20. See you next week. Jake: three I'm tied for first with 27. Yeah no one's outpaced me at this point. No Justin: everyone's everyone's everyone's still in the everyone's still got a chance. So Jake: I'm going in the right direction you on the other hand 12 8 7 you're going in the Justin: wrong. I'm going in the direction I always go down to four. We have two teams on a bye this week so we've got one last game. Yes. And Indy and Pittsburgh will be enjoying their buys. Early this year yeah for so let's get right to it. There's a game tomorrow night There's a game Thursday night mm-hmm as per normal. There's a shitty game on Thursday night Baltimore at home at night for the second week in a row Jake: How'd they do that to them? I still Sunday night Justin: Thursday well at least there at least their home when they fucked us last year We had to fly across the country for a Thursday night game after being home on a Sunday night again Sunday night to Thursday night is brutal. I don't even care. I've already said Baltimore home Bedding on them don't care what the line is they're playing Cleveland. I don't even care. It's Baltimore at home at night They're gonna beat Cleveland by way more than 12 and a half. They're gonna crush Cleveland. Cleveland sucks. Jake: Cleveland sucks. Weeden's awful. 12 and a half I'll always take. I'll take the half. Justin: I'll take this. You want the half? I'll take the 12. I'll take the 12 and a half. Okay. Atlanta who's proving to once again be one of the best regular season. Jake: regular season teams in the league. Regular season! Justin: Yeah, you know. We'll see if Maddy Ice can pull it out in the playoffs this year because they're definitely gonna make it. Jake: Lost three times in a row in the playoffs! Justin: I believe Eli Manning started off 0-3 in the playoffs. Okay. I think Peyton did too. Peyton definitely did. We beat him 41-0. Let's go. Uh, Atlanta is hosting Carolina and they're given seven and I like Atlanta. I'm more betting against Carolina. I think Carolina stinks. Jake: I do think Carolina stinks, but I feel like they're a team that will keep up at least They got crushed by the Giants not keep up with the Giants. I know I just feel like Yeah, no, I should pick Atlanta so maybe I'll switch There's no reason to pick Carolina. No reason this thing Justin: Detroit is hosting Minnesota right now. The line is four and a half Detroit giving four and a half That's with a questionable Questionable quarterback situation. They're not sure if Maddy Stafford's gonna play or not with Sean Hill I was his shoulder no leg Oh leg leg. I don't think it matters. I'm not really sure it matters There's such a good defense there. They're kind of to me the same team with or without him I like Minnesota getting four and a half here. I think Minnesota is better
01 Justin: Oh, no, I think Detroit at home hard place to play Minnesota Minnesota's gonna be able to run it all over Detroit. So close Minnesota blew the wad last week Like Minnesota. All right, Kansas City's hosting San Diego. This is a line that's moved way down. Yep So this is a peck. This is a pick. Um, it's in Kansas City. I'm taking Kansas City Jake: Yeah, I'll take Ken City at home. I'll take Ken City. Off that big wind. Off that big wind. If you were a Demarle Charles owner, like I was, you just, like, unbelievable. He's back. That guy, he's back. Justin: He's fast as shit. Jake: San Diego, I don't know. I don't know what kind of team they are. Me neither. Brian Matthews, he kind of fumbled the party, fumbled the party like twice or three times. Justin: No, once. Oh, once. All right. I'll take Ken City. Okay, we both found that bandwagon. Continuing the one o'clock slate, Seattle goes to St. Louis, and Seattle's favored by two and a half here on the road. I don't like it. They just came off of a horseshoe up your butt win at home, where they're way better. St. Louis is better than you think. Thank you. I like St. Louis getting two and a half. Jake: Yep, I agree. Give me St. Louis. At home. At home. Justin: All right, last one o'clock game. Houston is hosting Tennessee. Houston's on fire. They're given 12. This is I'm using the Jake rule, and I'm taking the 12, and I'm taking Tennessee. Oh, I'm actually going. I'm going to use the other rule. We're flip-flopping. Yeah, I'm using the Houston rule. I'm usually not as scared at 12. I'm using the Houston rule that they're really that good, and Tennessee is really that. I mean they just put up 44 though. Yeah against Detroit. That's why I picked against Detroit this way. All right, I'm thinking Houston Okay, let's go to 405 by the way the jet game ended at like five something You've got these 425 games and these this is a 405 but the 425s don't even have a chance I like the 425 they end Like eight right before the next game. That's crazy The red zone had to come off the air last week without finishing every game Oh, they were like contractually we have to be off the air at 8 and the Oakland game wasn't over yet. That's bullshit They had to get off the air. Why it's well, it was on CBS. It was still on you could go watch it all right, so 405 Denver's hosting Oakland speaking of Oakland and Denver's one in two and Oakland's one in two And Denver's given six and a half. It's a lot. But I feel like they've lost two in a row and Oakland just had a really big win and Denver's ready to roll here at home. So give me Denver, given the six and a half. Jake: Yeah, I feel like this is the week that Manning gets his leg back under him, his arm, whatever. It's ready to rock. He's gonna figure it out. Give me Denver. Give me Denver. Alright. Justin: Since this is a shitty game, Cincinnati goes to Jacksonville. Cincinnati is road favorite by two and a half.
01 Justin: Jacksonville has been getting really lucky with Gabbard throwing these Cecil Shorts passes at the end of the game. I don't understand it, but I'm gonna take Cincinnati given the two and a half. Jake: I'll take Jacksonville. Just, just, just... Justin: Okay, take the points like the home the home dogs home dogs. Sorry All right. This is a huge game for 25. I'm sure this will be the the game that's on in most In most people's the game. I'll be coming back to watch. Yeah, most people's living room Green Bay is home They're hosting New Orleans This is a must-win game for both teams Green Bay's at 1 and 2 in what looks like one of the better divisions in League and New Orleans is 0 and 3 and They have any shot. They cannot go 0 and 4. Green Bay's giving 7 and a half Jake: I'm picking New Orleans for the hook. Oh, the hook, the half. No way, New Orleans I said this three weeks ago. I said it two weeks ago I didn't say it last week because we didn't have a podcast This team is ready to fold it up. Justin: They're not getting blown out. Jake: Oh and for but they're not getting blown out though. Justin: It's not happening to them. Jake: They're losing close game fans. Green Bay is pissed. He's going to take it to them. This could be this is the end of the saints for this year. All right. This is it. I'll take the same. This is put the. Justin: Tampa's home they're hosting Washington don't get this spread at all. Oh, this is the standard home team gives three I like Washington. Yeah, I don't think Tampa's any good All right Sunday night continues the stretch for the Giants where they cannot play a normal game they have yet The Giants have yet to play a Sunday afternoon game followed by a Sunday afternoon game. Jake: Um, at least it's a good game. Justin: Yeah, well, it might be. Philly is hosting the Giants. Philly's giving two. I like the Giants to go in there and rough up Michael Vick a little bit. Jake: Yeah, Michael Vick not looking very good. They're squeaking at wins. They just lost Arizona's Better team than you think I looked at our we looked at our schedule and all those teams Justin: We thought we're gonna blow them out of Mike off but all of a sudden the NFC West is like the best division in football Jake: Tennessee and Jaguars the only ones I was like, oh those teams are what we thought they were everybody else Justin: I'm like, well the NFC West it's like that's who you want That whole division Seattle you have to play in Seattle. That's rough. We'll talk about the Niners in a minute And Monday night we got Dallas hosting Chicago. Pretty good game. Three and a half. Dallas, I think the half is a little much, so give me Chicago. Jake: No, I think this is a comeback game. I don't like Dallas. I don't like them at all. I like them at home much better. I think they'll just get back to doing what they do well. Justin: Alright, so let's talk about the games we left out because they're the AFC East games So we have one AFC East matchup by the way Jett's first place Jett's so two and one two and oh in the division
00 Jake: Why is it that first place to know two and one two and oh and the vision and it feels like we're the worst I mean feels like we're fucking never we're like dead like we're dead in the water. I know it's a bad feeling Justin: I feel that way. I feel that way. I don't feel good. I don't feel good at all. We're first place We got the Pats at one and two, which is great. We're 2-0 in the division, which is fantastic. And I don't feel good about it. Jake: And the team that we lost to, we just didn't think that we were going to win against anyway. Justin: No one's beating Pittsburgh in their home opener. All right, let's go. New England at Buffalo. New England at Buffalo. So New England coming off of a bad loss, two in a row. Two losses in a row that were bad. Like. field goal, missed a 40-yard field goal to lose a game, get a pass interference, called against you, lose with a field goal that may or may not have gone in. Looked like it was good. But New England losing... yeah that's that but I mean New England losing two in a row. I mean that's like I don't know if that's happened under Brady Belichick for like years so I don't know when the last time they lost three in a row. So I have them winning by a slim margin because I think Buffalo is actually like actually better than what we did We're lucky we caught them in week one. Yeah, cuz they're better Yeah, so I've got the Pats but I've got them winning by a slim margin of 2724 and the spread on this game just so you know, this is New England is favored by four on the road So I'm picking Buffalo and the picks. Jake: Yeah, so I am picking New England. I mean, I think New England's gonna win, 31-26. No Fred Jackson, no CJ Spiller, no gonna win. I just feel like it's hard to bet against the Pats over and over again. I'm not doing it. Let's go, I think they're gonna win and that's fine. Justin: Oh, that's betting, I think they're gonna win. in. But my money's on Buffalo because of the spread. Jake: Yeah, you'll have to go look where my money is. Justin: All right, so moving along, we have Miami in Arizona. And Arizona is like a good team. They're 3-0. Their defense is fantastic. Kerry Rhodes playing big time football. Playing the lines out, yeah. Like great tackle at the goal line before the half. Sac strip, fumble recovered. touchdown at the end of the half. Basically a 14 point swing at the end of the half. All carry roads. Former jet carry roads. And Miami heading across the country. Look, Miami showed me something. Show me they could play some defense. Show me they can run the ball. I think Arizona. Yeah, but I think he's gonna play. Even without him, they were able to run the ball. Jake: Yeah, well that's against us. Apparently we can't stop the run. Justin: Arizona, I think this is gonna be a low-scoring, hard-fought matchup where Arizona wins. I like them to win 16 to 10, just so we know what the spread is here.
00 Justin: Let's just see it's in Arizona. Arizona is giving six and a half. So I have Miami in the pick up Jake: Yeah, so I have Arizona winning only 24 22 So I will actually take My like Miami in the pick as well. Yeah Justin: All right now on to the game of the day. Oh Jake: Not the millennium. No See what you did here, and I don't like it. You see what I did you see what I did here Justin: You don't like it audible. You don't like what I did here. Do you do this I can do I I Picked these games before that before the season started oh Jake: That's we said before the season started you cannot we're gonna. I have never let me let me this one Justin: I mean more I've done this once before and I'm doing it again Here's why I'm doing it. Ladies and gentlemen, ladies and gentlemen. Jake: Please do not say you're trying to psych up the team or something. Justin: I'm picking against the Jets. Jake: Oh, you fucker. Justin: And I'm doing it so that if I lose, I can just be real happy about it. Jake: Oh, because if the Jets was you, we see I told you. It's stupid. It's a stupid excuse. Justin: No, here's the thing. They're playing the Niners. The Niners just lost. The Niners are like the best team in the league. They're like the best team in the league. Jake: They look vulnerable. Justin: There's no Adrian Peterson in our backfield. Jake: No. Justin: Adrian Peterson was able to run the ball against the Niners, which made the Vikings' offense work a little bit. Jake: Yeah. Justin: The Niners are so much more physical than we are on both sides of the line. Their offensive line, if you think that we couldn't get to Tannehill because that... The Miami offensive line made us look like a bunch of shitbags San Francisco is gonna make us look like a bunch of shitbags shitbags because their offensive line is better than Miami's and their defensive line is way better than Miami's too, so This is I have a better. I'm putting I'm putting our guys in the trenches on notice. It is time, offensive line and defensive line, to step the fuck up. Let's go. We're ground and pound bullshit. That's all talk. Jake: Throw the balls. Fucking throw the balls. Justin: No. That's all talk. Get motivated. Run the ball. What you see in the castle and you score. The trenches. The trenches. Yeah. You've got to win in the trenches. Jake: I can't wait for you to win the trenches, but I think you're going to lose 27-9. Justin: 27-9. That sucks. San Francisco we can't cover Vernon lacing you with a monkey. Let me tell you we can't we can't stop Frank Gore from running We can't stop Vernon Davis. We're no one on our team stopping Vernon Davis. Why why cuz he's uncoverable We can't cuz nobody can okay, we're not covering Vernon Davis, okay They're trickery and chicaneery is gonna get us because we're gonna be overzealous at one point during the game. Okay, they're lines Both sides are better than ours, and I'm not sure who's gonna be able to cover anybody on that team Jake: I mean well, but you've just named you've just named a running back and a tight end
01 Jake: Who you afraid of that? We just afraid of Randy Moss you afraid of Michael Crabtree? Yeah, Michael Crabtree Justin: We go we don't have a guy to cover Crabtree you throw kamarti on Crabtree Kamarti can't cover Crabtree. Yeah, yeah, I can I'm They find ways to get guys open in ways that are not gonna be beneficial for us. Nobody in the world thinks we're gonna win this game. Good! Jake: Everybody's gonna pick against us. I'm picking against us. Jet fans should not pick against their own team. I'm picking against us. I honestly think that listen, it's not gonna be easy. It's gonna be brutal. Justin: There might be more injuries. You think we're gonna score that many points against this team? Yeah. Yeah, why not? How? We didn't score that many points against Miami with an overtime. by one point. With an extra session. Jake: Defensively, we'll score a touchdown. Special teams, we're gonna score a touchdown. Oh, okay. Yeah. That's how it's gonna be. Yeah! Okay. We're gonna do something. Justin: Remember, we scored a defensive touchdown against Miami, too. Jake: I know we did. And I don't think Alex Smith is the second coming of Peyton Manning. I think he's vulnerable. I think this is when we talk, everybody's saying the Jets will implode. They're all saying the Jets will implode. I'm like great. This is when Rex Ryan earns his salary. Because your job, when you have the best player on football, is to sit back and not let that player fuck up. When you lose the best player in football, Off your team to seasonal injury your job is to is to sit and to make do make hay with what you got He needs to earn his salary. I will be Super impressed. I will be super impressed with him when he does turn this defense great Are we gonna be the number one defense? No, can we still be top fan type five? Yes, we can we have the speed we have the we have enough young fast guys on that field. Great, we just lost the greatest corner ever. It's happened before Jenkins and Lee and Washington in one game still went to the AFC Championship. It can happen. It's time for Rowley. It's time for young guys to step up. I think we can win this game. I think we can get to, I think we can get to him. I think we're gonna get to the through trickery. We're back to, I think we're back to like... Three years ago where it's like we're just gonna be doing a lot of tricks Because it's not just put a man on a man and let the rest hang out So I think we get the Alex Smith. I think we can I don't think we're gonna sack him ten times I think we're pressure him enough He'll make a few mistakes and those few mistakes are enough for us to capitalize and I think that we're it's all about Justin: Just say your damn score. Jake: 1924, Jets win, cause I'm a Jets fan. I picked the Jets to win. Justin: I'm a Jets fan too, I'll be there rooting for them. No, you'll be sitting there. I'm not rooting for my score to happen. Jake: You might be. I do not do that. You might be. I do not do that. You suck at this and you suck at life. It's no good to pick against the Jets. No good. Do not like it.
