09 Jake: The best place to be is when expectations are high. Get used to it. It's always going to be that way. Get away! Welcome to Jake King podcast, the longest running near Jess podcast. Justin: My good buddy, Justin. It's a lot of times a lot of fucking times. It's a whole lot of times. All right We have not a lot of time, but we got to get through a lot. So let's jump into it. First of all I want you to apologize me Apologize what do I have to apologize? Tell me why because you fucked up on the Monday night podcast That's bullshit. Why are you blaming that on me? Why not? Because you know it's your fault. So why would you do that? No one up there knows it's my fault. It's all your fault. Hold on. I write to you on Monday, when we're podcasting, you're like, I don't have time for that this week. Blah blah blah. Wine wine wine. I said come down. No, you did not. You did not say that at all. Then I said no. Then I said come down. Jake: the Jets post game yeah and then you're like I'm eating oh all right all right so Justin: let's get to it let's talk about the game that was the well agenda for today we're talking about the game was gonna pick our Nate and play the game. We're gonna talk about the news and then we'll get into all our picks, ejection and fantasy league, pick them for week four, thrown picks, and make our keys to the castle. Yeah! Get the motherfucker out of here. Yes! Let's go. Game review. Do it! Fucking penalties. Well, the bill scored 20 points. The Jets had 20 penalties. That's how good we are. We can have and still beat you. It's try that. So try that. Seriously, that's difficult. Oh, it is difficult. So we were at the game. We certainly were tailgate. But your pops. Yeah, dad was there. I think you watched some of the game. I don't know. I don't know. You watched the game. Oh, he didn't. He was staring at his phone. And he's terrible. He's terrible. Oh, my God. I hope he doesn't listen. Oh, my. He was staring at his phone the whole time. Like, you know, watching the game. Most fantasy. Jets fan, but like doesn't really care. I know it was like one of those Jets fans. He's been through the mill a couple times. So this was a game that, you know, I think here's, here's my takeaways from the game. Jets win. We can talk about all that little aspects, but my overview of this is.
00 Justin: This was the this was the game that we're kind of like oh, this is where it's coming together where I'm kind of seeing What possibly could happen meaning? I'm seeing this stuffing defense this dominating defense this defense that's literally just taking it to a Rookie quarterback. Oh, yeah eight sacks six sacks eight eight sacks. That's what we do. We don't lose to rookie quarterbacks unless It's in Seattle. But I don't remember the last time I ate sacks in a game. Can't recall. It's been a long time. And then, and then you have this thing. I think my key this week was short and long. I said, do short passes, but then take your shots down the field and fuck if they didn't do it. You know, I think you went these long passes Two out of four times he hit it and one time he hit it, you know, and Stephen Hill takes it to the it was open and just took it. The other time, Centoni Home made a great move and the guy fell down and he just took it to the house. Um, but it was great. It was a great game other than those goddamn penalties. How these killed them. They weren't gonna give up a touchdown except for that drive where everything was a... I mean... The Bills had 18 first downs in this game. That's crazy. Okay. Eight of them were from penalties. Right. So you can just, if you wipe those off, they really didn't do a whole lot of anything. They really didn't. I mean, their running is inflated by that 59 yard run from Fred Jackson, where we really stuffed them. Right. Behind the line and bounced out, like just creeped out. We'll get that. We'll clean that up. So they really didn't. run for much either. It was a it was just a well well well done except for the mass the penalty mass which I think is you can clean that up. Well here's the thing if this was a loss that meant penalty mass would be a noose around Rex's throat right in a wind it's like we'll clean it up. That's the deal. He locks out that that wasn't the thing. It was 180 yards or something ridiculous. It was a lot of yards. And it was literally almost two times up and down the field. It was 20 penalties, 168 yards. It's almost two touchdowns worth of yards. And yet we only give it one touchdown. Here's a stat for you. Give me one. In three games, we've given up three touchdowns. Yeah, and we shouldn't have even given one up in this game. I mean, that's pretty impressive. Yes, I agree. And then that stupid bad team, that Patriots team that was terrible the week when they played us against that really great defense that we said was so Who? The Pats? The Pats. Against the box? Yeah, 23. They scored 23. Yeah. So... That's still not a lot for the Pats. It's not, but they scored 13 against us. At home. Right, in the rain. In the rain. Again, I think we could talk about sort of the... I had a couple offense or defense. ...or defense type of things in this game. Let's talk about it. Well, I feel like there was some...
14 Justin: the It was a clear EJ manual right clear recovery by the Jets That although wasn't called anything on the field wasn't in hard. It wasn't well you can review those now You can say that was a fumble and then whatever now I feel like the Jets had two penalties on that play so it wouldn't have mattered so it got blown out of Proportion right where I'm pretty sure there were two penalties on the Jets in that, and that on that play that would have basically said, even if they called it a fumble, it wouldn't have been a fumble. Secondly, yeah, okay. Well, what? You're gonna like... No, I think that it doesn't matter, because I think you're gonna come out with this. I think what you're saying is it's being overblown. I don't think it's being overblown as much as it's just showing that he... That it's just... I mean, even the basic football fan knows, not... This is coaching 101. If you blow one of your two... You know, your two challenges during the game, you don't blow the second one until you need it. You don't blow it unless it's something that is a game changer. And so blowing it on a third, a third in whatever, a first in 20 when the guy's on the sidelines and it's called in, it wasn't a big deal. There was no reason to blow it on that. And that's the decision making that he Shouldn't he should know by now. It's five years in he should know that you got to save one Because there could be something in the fourth quarter where you need it. That was a nice ramp That's not where I was going with it, but that was good. I agree shouldn't waste. Oh you agree. I agree You shouldn't waste them what I what I feel is kind of kind of Bullshit about the league is I feel like any time there's a close call on the types of calls that are automatically reviewed, such as touchdowns, such as turnovers, right? Those two plays are automatically reviewed. Any time there's a turnover, any time there is a touchdown, you should call it a touchdown every time, and you should call it a turnover every time. time. if it's close. Like unless it's clearly not a touchdown, unless it's clearly not a fumble or an interception or whatever, fine. But why make, like just call it a touchdown, fine. Then you gotta go review it. Like you shouldn't have to make coaches waste things on those types of plays. Like on that play, you should just call that a fumble. and then like Rex shouldn't have to challenge that because it was a fumble, he totally blew it. Oh yeah. And the same thing with touchdowns, it's like, is the guy down at the half yard line? Who the fuck knows? Just call it a touchdown and then go look at it. I see just saying, you're saying that you should just, you should err on the side of always calling it
01 Justin: the way that you can review it. The way that you can then go review it. Because why not? Just go review it. The whole thing is broken. Again. I've said this for years, so if you're a long-time listener, you've heard me say this a few times, I don't mind the theory of reviewing plays. I think that's fine. But I hate, hate, hate, hate that there has to be certain plays. I think they should give the coaches three, not two, but three, right, or four, or whatever. Give them a couple more, and then I think you should be able to call it on anything. Oh, the coin flip. Nope, we had heads. Let's review it. The kickoff fine the cheerleader she fell out she fell down call it like anything any play that matters in the game There shouldn't be a it's like that event that happened the other day or it's like Oh, you called one thing and then you couldn't call it the second time. So the touchdown stands It's like that's that's this bullshit. You rule the truth of what happens on the field is more important than the little intricacies of, well, you only had 2.3 catches or you only call these things and it's a full moon. So you can't call it on a full moon unless the month starts in an O and then you can't. No, the truth of what happens is more important than all these little side rules. So make the truth open. I should be able to call anything between the clock starting and the clock ending with 000. I should be able to review it as a head coach. and give me enough chances to do that. Well, I disagree in some respects. Why? Well, I don't think pure judgment calls, like penalties, for example, holding. Holding is purely a judgment. Jake: But what happens if it's literally a game-changing holding call? Justin: And it's wrong! Well, because first off, there's holding on every play. So you can always call holding, you can always throw a flag and say, there was holding and then what? Three guys have to go under a hood and one guy has to explain to the other guy why he didn't call holding or why he did or why he didn't. Same with like pass interference. It's such a like bang bang type of thing where it's very judgmental. It's like I saw him or I didn't. But it's a rule. He either is or it isn't. Holding I'm gonna use holding as my main example is like Sure, it's a rule But it could be called on every play if you'd like so can I challenge that guy held? Yeah, that's then that you're gonna cause the game to suck. No, you only give so many but let's say I would hear my I would throw a flag on on every touch down we get three I would throw it on every every play in the fourth in the fourth quarter where the game is close and they picked up a first down, throw him a challenge flag. There was a hold somewhere on the offensive line. And they'd find it. No, they wouldn't. Yeah, they would. Just like now, they don't turn over stuff that you can't turn over. Like, they'd look at it, they'd go, it's not conclusive that there was a hold. Sorry, touchdown. Then now, see, now you're getting into like ridiculousness. Jake: But a massive hold on a, How many guys are responsible for calling a hold? Justin: A massive hold that doesn't get called
01 Justin: in a game-winning touchdown. You should be able to call to get that reviewed. Why not? What is this? Literally a judge right now. No, no, I'm not it's not judgment It's actually the rule judgment if a guy comes behind the guy holds his big titties in his hand and pulls him down from the back and throws him to the ground in a super move above his head spins around and throws him down and Everybody the planets on but one guy doesn't see it and it doesn't get called and they win the game because of it, I think you should be able to review that because it's the truth. If some guy does a Superman move, he's gonna get a flag. Jake: You hear what I'm saying? Justin: That if it's- No, I hear what you're saying, but I disagree with it. No, you disagree. I disagree with it wholeheartedly. I feel like those types of judgment calls where it's one person's responsibility to make the call like a pass interference, like a holding, like, you know, the certain- um Refs are responsible for like the offensive line whatever for calling holding So now you're taking a challenge that already slows the game down and right not only does The one guy have to go into the booth now another guy's got to go over there and explain why he called something one Way or the other. Yeah, it's just gonna slow the game to a crawl. No, it's not. Yes, it will You can only do it so many times. Yeah, but those types of ones are gonna take longer to even figure out. It's like, hmm, I didn't call it holding because I didn't feel like that guy was holding. And it's like, well, he was holding, but I don't know. When I saw it, he wasn't holding. Well, that's gonna be insane nuts. The truth is in the thing. They go in, they look at it, they go, that was actually a hold or not a hold. Again, it's not unlimited. I'm not saying they can call it everything. I'm saying you give them one more. Can we talk about the jets? And then you can do as many times you want. Yeah, we only got so many minutes. So you're the one who's got a timeframe and you're going off on tangents here. I am fucking Mr. Tangent. Anyway, so this was a matchup between two rookie quarterbacks in the FC East. EJ manual, first round big, Gino Smith, second round pick. Round one goes to Gino, even though still with the two interceptions, I'm not happy about this. He's got three touchdowns on the year, six interceptions. He's got at least one, at least two turnovers in all three games so far. It's not exactly what, you know, what we're hoping for in that regard, but still he threw for 331 yards. He ran for a touchdown through for two more. So I would overall characterize this as a pretty good game. If he cuts down on you know, both of the picks were just bad mistakes. They were rookie mistakes. One of them was like you got to know you're gonna throw that slant that you guys see that linebacker. And the other one was just an under thrown long ball that he threw into double coverage and Jim Leonard has made his living off of playing center field and picking those balls off. And I think there was at least one more that could have been. And it was the ones that Holmes catch where he just went way up in the air. He grew 17 and he grabbed it. Holmes played really well.
00 Justin: There was a guy right behind him that could have picked that. That Holmes went and got the ball. I was very impressed by how Holmes, you know, again, we've said this every week. You get receivers who go the extra distance for you. and make plays for you, you're going to look better as a quarterback stat line. You get receivers who don't go the extra line for you and butt fumble or cough up the ball or whatever, you're going to look worse. This was a game that I think the receivers covered his inaccuracy more. They would go get balls. They would grab them off the ground. They would, you know... Whereas I've seen in situations where they wouldn't do that for other rookies and you're like, oh, that's why they suck. These guys are helping him out by being better at their job. So, having Curlyback was a huge, huge thing. Although he didn't have a big stat. Doesn't matter. Just being out there as someone you need to worry about. Picked up some, both of his catches were for first downs and one was a big one on the first drive. drive. All right. Powell had a great game after Chris Ivory went out with the hamstring. We're now kind of seeing why New Orleans gave up on Chris Ivory. This is what he is. He gets hurt. It's a little early to do this is what he is. Well, this is not his first year in the league. No, it isn't. This is what he's done every year he's been in the league. So this is kind of what he is. And we haven't seen any explosion out of him yet either. We haven't seen the, oh look. There's light at the end of this tunnel with him, but what we did get was an amazing ball Paul game we got 149 yards on that guy we picked up Alex green cuz now he's green stepped in Little little time boham in action. So I'm listen I know this is crazy sauce but this whole you know ivory and goods in and always yeah, blah pals a starter Yeah, I'm hoping to get goods in back because I feel like he's he's needed in that backfield more than we thought he was. And Powell's a starter. As far as I see it, and he just doesn't will be the change. I'll just doesn't have that thing like his he was he was given a lot of opportunities. He was breaking a lot of stuff, but he wasn't. There's just that there's some running backs who have a thing that they break more than they should. He was given a lot of lanes. He was given a lot of. you know sweeps where he got his big yardage. But he wasn't like- What was wrong with that? He ran outside, he ran inside. Yeah. You know who didn't have that thing? Who? Curtis Martin didn't have that thing. No. He was just a dependable as fuck running back. Dependable, right. 3.3 yards. Give it to me. Right now. I need it every time. 3.3? That's terrible. No, I'm saying over the lifetime of- Anytime you gave him the ball, you could get 3 yards. You would take, you would take the house very infrequently, but he would depend., you give it to these guys You give it to these guys and they go backwards sometimes, they get hit in the backfield. Like Curtis always had a forward look. You play the game and you're knight, because we get to pick, because we get to pick a knight. and First, I can't remember your night and your play the night is blah pow. Blah pow stepped in.
01 Justin: with an injury they had a balance, they ran the ball, a lot of people ran the ball more than they threw it which was interesting I think right more rushing attempts than passing attempts I think so of Blaupau is my guy. He had a great game particularly down the stretch in the fourth quarter got a running game going in the next video. Thanks for watching. I love when they I really like when they run the wildcat with ball. They ran a little tweak on the wildcat. You saw the first look where they did something different off the wildcat this week, where they where they shoveled it back to Gino and he threw it long. So I hope to a couple more tweaks off of it in the future. You got to keep running it, though, to be able to do that. So that was my night of the game. And my play of the game is clearly the San Antonio homes. How can you pick? I don't know. That's clearly the play of the game. We'll pick the night and the guy, the same thing. But no. Yeah. Well, you always make me go first. So I take the good shit. Blob how's my night? Because I thought it was that was big time running and the homes touchdown pass coming. I mean, geez, they gave up that touchdown on that crazy bullshit drive. And they give up the two point conversion. You felt the air come out of the stadium and then two plays later, boom, 70 yards down the field. It was awesome. Um, my night is Kyle Wilson. Yeah. Because how in four plays can you have five penalties? It's awesome. That's good ratio. That's stunning you had Five penalties in four players sure it was that way. Yeah, it was five penalties in four plays You want to get to yeah, I did so awesome so awesome Milner still couldn't get on the field no use on the field. Yeah, but he was on the field for like 25 30 percent of snaps Let's see I saw the playing time breakdown. It wasn't pretty for D Milner No, Dee's got some way to go, but whatever. I don't know that the corner situation actually played a lot of different. With Copple's back. Yes. They played a lot of different fronts, like even Richson didn't. Didn't play 50% of the snaps. I'm going to go. I'm going to pick on defense and I'm going to pick Mo Wilk. Yeah, he's a monster. I mean, two sacks in the game. First time he literally. He's just unstoppable. He did have a lot of penalties. Two. Yeah, that were big. Culpals had two also. Yeah, I didn't like that. I mean, I and the other guy I love is just Sheldon Richardson, but I'm figuring he can come in. I don't know what's happened with him. I don't know. He went off the field, but I don't... He was fine. They were playing different personnel because of... Because you can. Because you have all these guys. Yeah, because Culpals just brings that versatility. and they were, they were, the bills were in passing mode. Like they, they came out of their, the jets came out of their base defense and were more in the rush of the passer mode.
01 Justin: So I'll give Mo Wilk my night of the week and I will say the play of the game. I don't know. Jake: Hard not to agree with me on the play. Justin: No, that was my play and I was actually gonna pick homes but I switched it up. I'll pick the big touchdown to um Actually, I'll pick Gino's first touchdown where he scrambled and he got hit right at the one and they literally he just kept going And punched it in they were like here we'll hit you in yeah, and then they hit him in but I don't know He he sticks it in there. He's not afraid to take a hit. No, he's not he he's definitely not the most accurate man in the world but um Don't know there's there's again it still feels that there's a little bit of like there's a little bit of something that can come out Of him and that there's an upside to him He's two and one. I mean he's winning games It's kind of in spite of himself, but he's winning games Alright, let's talk about the news You have here that they were 18th in the ESPN power ring. Yeah. Yeah, you know what this was for This was because ESPN does their power rankings. We moved up to 18. I don't care. Whatever, right? We started at 31. The Giants were down in like, you know, the very, very bottom, like 28, 29, 30, something like that. This week. This week. Yeah. And instead of the headlines being, I feel like this is, again, this is. An anti-jets thing instead of the headlines being Like who's the better football team in New York now? It's who's the worst football team in New York like it's got to go neg It's got to go negative. Yes start an egg guys. They're them first I guess but like why do they like there was the whole segment on the the first in ten and the and the story in the on the blog on the ESPN New York thing was like who's the worst football team in New York we have a winning record I'm not surprised by it either. So you want to bring back the segment the FU ESPN All right, let's do why is the storyline who's the worst in in New York? I can't be who's the better team in New York. I have a I have a sound Do you have a sound drop? Oh drop it. BOOF! That was not bad. I'll see if you can repeat it next week. Yeah, ESPN man, what the fuck? Honestly, I have not been watching a lot of sports crap this week. No, I just read it. It was the headline. It was like, who's the worst team in New York? It's like, why can't it just be who's the better team in New York? It's not the JET. There's one that's doing one and there's one that 0 and 3 and it's been in. They're like debating it. It's not even a debate. They're an embarrassment No, they have 10 times more talent and they're sucking. They're the worst team. Yeah All right. Let's talk about who's the best team in the Jack King of fantasy Who is is you The standings say that I am pretty good I won this week
02 Justin: Oh, you got off the schnyze. I did I beat Mattie Jets by the way You notice how he hasn't talked about this until he went so he went oh And then now he's one he's one and two I'd agree to the first week You didn't talk about that I talked about it I even said you'd beat me but and then so yeah right now in the East it's me At the top of the East yep, the king of the crop And then your way down at the bottom somewhere And then on the west is Scotty Sims and the Upstaters, who are both undefeated. And then this week, we're going up against, I looked at it, I thought I had a really- I've got the Staten Island Steeps who are 0 and 3, so I've got a cupcake. You've got a cupcake here. And it projects me to beat them pretty handily, but I'm never- all that confident. I think the numbers they're interesting they do update during the week. I'm up against Team Cromartie's kids and it has us projected at, has very close, it has me at 93, him at 91. He's got Drew Brees so last week I played a little Jedi mind trick I swapped out my Cumberland as my jet and I threw in You played you know and then I threw in a real bad boy and it kind of worked out So although I think I kind of evened out but I was a little bit risky as trying to for those participating no Titans this week Yeah, no Titans. No Chris Johnson. Yeah, it's really like what, Chris Johnson? And that's it. That's about it. Yeah. All right. Well, good luck on that. Let's get to our picks of the week. Yeah. You know how we do it. We pick every game of the week in a segment called. Terrible, by the way. Jet King and Pick'em, huh? We're picking Terrible. Oh, I am terrible. No, we're tied. We're both terrible. Oh, well, we're both terrible. I am literally sucking. Someone did you see on Facebook someone posted on our. time. Podcast like I love going back and listening on Monday so I can see how awful your pics were Like I think someone was like you guys said the Giants can't possibly go. Oh, man. That was me I was saying it. I was saying it all day. I was saying to a Giants fan I was like I can't go in three. Oh three. You're the Giants the Giants Alright, so let's pick these games. Alright, we pick them two segments We're checking the pick and we pick every game you can play with us on Yahoo Sports. So it's a little late And then we pick the thrown picks we do individual AFC each with scores. Let's go break it down All right, so Thursday night tomorrow The San Francisco 49ers the under 500 in turmoil 49ers Come off a short week where they probably could use a little rest and go to st Louis and are favored by three points to the team that they Couldn't beat last year. Mm-hmm. And I still have them winning this game because I can't see them being one in three I can't either that would be a huge disappointment. That would be really bad. They haven't had a losing record in Harbaugh's entire Tenure with San Francisco. Honestly, all the stories are when are they gonna bring back?
03 Justin: You know the packages that that cap was using, you know last year. Yeah, we're gonna read about I don't know. A lot of teams have sort of canned the read option. I think it's because you're allowed to smack the quarterback around a little bit. Top, bring it back. Time to bring it back. you And Cleveland won last week, everyone was like you know you right. And Hoyer leads him to the memo you're supposed to suck. But Cincinnati beat Green Bay. Mmm. They probably should have said that. Right? Cincinnati favor by four and a half I think Cincinnati's like. The cream the top of the AFC right up there. So give me Cincinnati I'm not buying this if Cleveland would have lost that game to a crappy Minnesota team This line would be about seven seven and a half. Yeah, I'll take I'll take Cincinnati. I think they're gonna win. Alrighty Moving right along Detroit is hosting Chicago and Detroit is favored by two and a half Like Chicago Me a high-scoring game I think yeah, I mean Chicago kind of pulled it out at the last minute last done that a couple times. Yeah Think Detroit gets Reggie West back across Pittsburgh This past week. Yeah, that's true on Sunday night. I'll take Detroit Jake: Okay Justin: Now a crazy game 3-0, Kansas City crazy hosting The 0 and 3 New York Giants and Kansas City favored by four and a half. I can't do it. I can't do it. Yeah, me either. I gotta pick the Giants. Because this is the kind of game, if this was in New York, I think they would lose. Their fans would just be all over them, but I feel like they win this one on the road. Oddly enough jets and Giants both on the road this week. That's strange Yeah, it really is That should never happen. Anyway, Pittsburgh is at Minnesota in London Sucks for Minnesota you lose a home game Both these teams are terrible. They're both 0 and 3 so we're shipping over to London One of our worst a lot of cry NFL games even though it's got some big stars in it, Raffles Burger and and Adrian Peterson Pittsburgh's favored by one and a half I'm just taking the points because both these teams suck. So just give me Minnesota. Yeah, I feel like this could be a Big Ben, Big Ben, I'll give it to Pittsburgh. Um, still at one o'clock. Tampa, who benched Josh Freeman for the rookie that they drafted this year, Glennon I think is his name, Mike Glennon. Um, Tampa is hosting Arizona.
01 Justin: Tampa is favored by three. I will take... Arizona and the points because Tampa is terrible and they've got a rookie quarterback star Yeah, I think it and Arizona is not doesn't have a terrible defense. They've got some playmakers So I feel like they're not gonna Tampa Bay. This would be one of those really fun games like I kind of would want to watch it because You know, I want to watch I want to watch revus versus Fitzgerald you can because we have a four o'clock So go ahead and watch it. I can't All right uh Indianapolis who took care of business in San Francisco last week goes to Jacksonville And Jacksonville is so bad Indy's favorite by eight and I don't know why I picked these in advance again I said I'd never pick them in advance and then I just did I'm gonna take Jacksonville for some stupid reason I feel like there's like a letdown Yeah, I agree. I'm actually picking Jacksonville as well. I'm actually going to play a little bit better at home. They got embarrassed last week. They get embarrassed every week. They're just used to it. They're too. Alright, it's still one o'clock last time. Seattle, West Coast team playing at one o'clock goes to Houston. Seattle is favored on the road by three. I think Seattle is the best team in the league right now It's Seattle and Denver in some order Give me Seattle. I have a tough time with this I feel like Seattle is good, but I feel like they get exposed more when they're on the road. I feel like Houston's to finesse I think you see I was gonna beat him up a little bit. I don't know if they're gonna do that I'm gonna take Houston. I'll take Houston. All right Alright, 4 o'clock, 4.25 to be exact. Denver is hosting Philly and Denver is favored by 10 and a half and I think that's too much. This game might be in the 40s. There might be 40 something. So Denver's D is pretty good. Why would Philly be able to get up there? They're just gonna... It's weird cuz I don't think Philly style Certainly works against Denver. You don't want to you don't want to like play fast play so fast You want to play really slow? Yes Peyton Manning. That's how we've beaten him in the past. You want to slow the game down? But yeah, I think I'm gonna take the ten and a half Take Philly I Will take the ten and a half just I think it'll be it I just don't see them getting blown out to be some garbage points a week our points They'll get in there like they might be down 17 and then score a touchdown at the end to cut it to ten type of deal All right Two more crappy teams Washington is going to Oakland Washington is favored by three points And on the road, Washington favored by three points. Kind of crazy. They're all in three. I'm still picking him. Terrell Pryor said he couldn't even remember the game after the game. He got here, had a concussion, and they asked him, like, you know, about the game, and he's like, I don't remember anything about it.
01 Justin: Oof, really? That's no good. That's no good. I actually, I'm going to pick Oakland. Okay, I don't know why Yeah, I think Matt if when hey plays, I don't know if he's gonna play or they just gonna bring him to some some dude Well, I mean I'm assuming prior will miss the game But maybe he won't who knows all right Last four o'clock. So we got one, one two, three four. We got four four o'clock one two, three four four four four o'clock games But for our purposes really only one cuz the Jets are at four Dallas is in San Diego. Dallas is favored by two on the road in San Diego, who could legitimately I think they're one and two, but could be three and oh, they had a couple of crazy ass plays that beat them at the end of games. Crazy ass place. So I like San Diego and the points at home. Give me San Diego. Don't like Dallas on the road. All right. And then that's it. That's it. Nice. Because Sunday night is AFCE's. And Monday night's an AFCE's game. Crazy. So let's just get into our throne picks. All right. So not going in any order here that makes sense. Although the I can switch around. We always pick the Jets game last. So let's talk about. Yeah, we should flip this around. Why don't we talk about Baltimore App Off Flow. All right, do you know I'm not gonna do that? Okay, because well, we can talk about it. We can talk about it. So Baltimore is going to Buffalo. The spread, by the way, Buffalo is underdog at home. They're getting three and a half points. Home dawg er. Home dawg er. I feel like Baltimore wins this game. They've got a little bit. Too much on the defensive end. They're still tough. They're not quite as tough on the road. I don't think as they are at home But man, they just keep winning Baltimore. I didn't think they were gonna be any good, but they've got two in one record They beat Houston last week, which is a good team. I just saw Buffalo play I don't think they're gonna be able to do much against Baltimore Baltimore should be able to run the ball against the Bills so I like it in a close game But I like Baltimore to win 20 to 17. Yeah, I agree Baltimore's They're better than we thought they'd be this year And I think Buffalo is worse like I don't I you know EJ manual just looked Like out of sorts like he yeah, would you don't we can't throw the ball? Yeah? He doesn't have a big arm at all at all no his arm is not is a little suspect He throws a lot of lollipops he has mobility for sure oh yeah He can but I did lose CJ speller you know we knocked speller out of the game I mean, we should aim to do that every week. Just knock these running back. By the way, we've played some good running teams and they've gotten nowhere. Nowhere. You know, Doug Martin is like one of the leading rushers in the NFL, despite us doing nothing against us. Right. You know, we shut the New England running game down. We shut their whole offense down and we shut down this. Bills CJ Spiller ran nine times for ten yards. I mean that's nothing. Yeah, literally nothing. Yep, but anyway
05 Justin: I'll take Baltimore. I think they're gonna win 1914 okay, it'll be a lot of field goals and maybe you know one or two again I don't believe in Baltimore very much, but I think they're a better team And they can just play better and they'll play with pride and I think but I think Buffalo's kind of going into that slide again Yeah, it's week three. It's week four. They're going to the slide it so we've got two really good prime time games this week We're very lucky. We've got the aces actually in both of them. So we have rooting interest Yep, and they're good games. We have New England in Atlanta. That's a great Sunday night game really good Atlanta night Dome gonna be fired up after a loss which they'll be basically by the way being night dome the next week with us, right? So they're doing two names. He's right games at home. Yeah crazy. Yep. So New England's going to Atlanta Atlanta's favored, but only by two points Coming off the loss to Miami and I don't think they lose two in a row. And I don't, I think they're tough at home at night in the dome. Having Roddy White and Steven Jackson out is a bit of a handicap for sure. I mean, Roddy White's playing, but he's not Roddy White. And Steven Jackson's not playing. So certainly a bit of a... Handicapped there, but I still like it landed overcome. I like them to win 23 16 I just don't think New England's got the firepower just yet really to score. Yeah, I feel it Well, here's my thing. I feel like they've that New England's played better defenses. I think they played a better defense last week I think they played a better dance and we made them look pretty bad I don't think Atlanta's got a good D. Yeah, they're gonna play tough at home. But I think stopping New England and stopping that, they're just on paper or even in reality, New England's a better team. So yeah, you can say, oh, at home, or whatever. But I feel like that kind of doesn't work with New England. They're good enough to go wherever they're gonna go, and they're gonna be good enough to win. So I actually think New England's gonna win. I say 3024. I don't want this to happen because that means the land has lost two and then we go in there Right, which is like 200 roads the AFCs. Yeah, that's very many of these three games in a row So I don't want them to lose. I kind of want to I mean I say I want the land to win big time I want them to be big up winning. I want them to destroy the Patriots, but honestly I just don't like to see that happening. So I'm gonna pick New England to win 3024. All right, we disagree there and then Monday night Um, same AFC East NFC South Miami going to New Orleans No, I'm the dome at night in prime time This is another really really good game. Look at all look at all the new and look at all the AFC East is all below the Bible belt Yeah, and I know and well Buffalo's in Buffalo. No, I'm saying everybody but Buffalo. That's kind of thing. They're just Buffalo
05 Justin: Yes, so Miami 3-0 is New 3-0 also Do they lose do not know? Oh man? Why don't we know this? They lost one they won against Tampa Bay Um, why don't we know these things? Yeah, they're 3 and 0. Okay. Oh, two 3 and 0 teams on a Monday night. Two 3 and 0 teams on a Monday night. So they beat Atlanta. Who would've thought? They beat Tampa and they beat Arizona. They're very good at home, New Orleans. They're extremely good at home. And for that reason, I like them to be the 3 and 0 team that goes 4 and 0. I also really... Kind of need this to happen because we can't have Miami before no we can't have two for no teams Yeah, I like them both to lose this week three and one will win. We'll get back to three and one We'll all be tied up there at three and one. It'll be nice little party action Well, the joke is that Miami doesn't see the AFC East until much later It's like all this getting off started like it's great now, you know My wife is talking about winning championships and Super Bowls. I'm like you realize that you have not met AFC East component. Yeah, they even played no nobody Even I mean, I know they play Cleveland played Right. So they they beat Cleveland in Cleveland. They beat the Colts in Indianapolis What's your like an even better win and then they just beat Atlanta at home Now they go to New Orleans on the night game, I just don't like it for them. I don't like it there for anybody when the Jets go to New Orleans and pick Jets to lose. Although I'll probably on this podcast pick Jets to win. But give me New Orleans. Not quite scoring as much as I feel like they could, but... I'll give Miami a little credit there, but I still like them to beat them pretty good. 27-13. Yeah, I think Norahans is a better team. This is the one where I think that I don't feel like yet that I can see. I don't know who in Miami are they a passing team with Mike Wallace? Are they a running team? I have not watched a minute of any other games. I've watched enough of them to know, like to see enough. I just, I don't know. I mean, I guess it's my bias against them and my wife's bravada that I'm sort of like, meh. But I think they're gonna lose. I think they're gonna lose big 3416. Things even better. Yeah, we both we both don't think that they stand too much of a chance here. All right. So moving on to the game of the century, the game of the millennium for the possible first for the possible tie or second place tie in the A.C. for we won't know at all. All we'll know is that we will not be in first place when this game is over, regardless of the outcome. We go back to Nashville. Oh, back to Tennessee, the scene of the crime from last year, which you and I went to. Monday night, we were there and it was ugly. Boy, was it ugly. I think Santa just had four picks. I think four picks and one fumble. Chris Johnson broke off like a 90 yard run. We basically had the game.
01 Justin: We should have won. There was no reason to lose that every shot to win that game. Oh, yeah. Times and they gave us tons of chances. Oh, yeah. I feel like with our retool defense, our different quarterback, I don't know if he's any. I'm not sure if he's any, you know. Any different from a player's from a playing perspective at this very moment. He's just a different guy He's just he's still turning the ball over just as much as Sanchez ever turn the ball over, you know again The Bills had the ball at what our 20 this week on on an interception type of thing. So still turning it over in our and on our side of the field. No pick sixes, though. No pick sixes. So that's a bonus. Because he can run down that. He can run down the fumble inside the five in week one, which is basically a touchdown. But I think Tennessee is also very good. So I think they have. a young quarterback that's coming on. I think they have a running game. I think they have no name receivers who make plays kind of like our guys. And I think they have a defense for sure. Their offensive line, their defensive line are going to be very good match ups against our offensive line and our defensive line, which I think are strengths of both teams. And I feel like. again, the Sound silly, but the keys to the castle is winning those matchups in the trenches So our defensive line has to beat their offensive line and our offensive line needs to do what they did this week Which was open up holes from the running game and no sacks. Do you know had no sacks? Um, pretty good. Pretty, pretty, pretty incredible for him because he was like, he's sacked like five or six times a week before he takes sacks. So he's that, that to me is a sign of, of progression, not getting sacked. His awareness. Mario Williams had four and a half sacks the week before. No sacks this week. His awareness is it was much, much better. I don't know if it's just the day or the week or what happened, but there were some plays watching that game and then watching it again. Um, the Buffalo game. He would step, he would do what you see every quarterback who's good do, which is they step up in the pocket, they wait until the guy comes around, they step up and then they make the throw, they give themselves an extra half a second and they step right out of the way that guy coming around the corner, you know, with his big arm, floating out there trying to get him, and they just step up and make the throw. So. There are some masters in the league, like Aaron Rodgers is like the master of stepping into the pocket, but I have a theory on that, on why he felt. Thanks for watching! and looked more comfortable. Why is that? Because he played against a Mike Patton defense which is like a jet which is what he sees in practice. Yeah I don't know if that's whatever okay I feel like it just felt more comfortable. So give me the key is the castle. I gave it to you offensive line wins defensive line wins up front trenches no sacks open up the running game on our side sack their quarterback without having to blitz will be in good shape. Can you score?
00 Justin: 13-9. No touchdowns for them. We only get one. They're a good defensive team. This is gonna be ugly. If you thought that Pats game was ugly, this is gonna redefine it. Well, I'm close on the Tennessee side, but I think the Jets will be able to score. I think it's going to be, if you're looking at the tape of the Jets, if you're scouting the jet from last week. you're saying, oh crap, they have no problem throwing it down the field, so we got to play that. And I think what that does this week, you'll see more of, oh, they're going to run the ball. So they're going to give us more. I think in the first couple of weeks, it's like they didn't think we were going to throw it and didn't think we could make those throws. And he really wasn't. So now there's like, oh, there's this chemistry brewing. He can make those throws down the field. He's going to open up and that's going to not let them cheat down. And I think Our running game is going to get going. So I'm actually looking forward. The thing that I want from the offense is really to pound the ball and give more opportunities. I think we're going to bust a few on the ball. Pound the ball and bust a few, huh? Bust a few in their man cave. Got it. Jake: Oh, in my man cave. Justin: And then the defense here, the thing I need to happen this week, which I'm kind of disappointed there hasn't been, and I'm trying to think, have we intercepted anybody yet? Three games? I don't know how many turnovers we've even caused. Maybe one? One? Two? Like this turnover ratio has to flip. I don't care that, I mean I do care. Gino Smith is turning over too much. But we're not turning it over enough. We need to great defense, good defense to stop people from scoring. We do not have a turnover this week. I don't think we turned the pats over either. Nope. Did we turn the Tampa over? Maybe once I think a fumble. Maybe once a fumble or something. But it's not, I feel like it's them, not us. Does that make sense? Like I want to see a corner make a play. I want to see a strip sack. I want to see, you know, I want to see a play. Because good defenses stop people from scoring. Great defenses score, right? If you score... Well, this is a great defense. They need to score. I think they're going to get even better as the year goes by. They're already their top three. They're number three. Yeah. They're a good defense. They need to score to be a great defense. I want to see them score, and I think that's how this score, my score of 2310 comes out is, again, I'm predicting a Jets score. The other thing that really started above... Two touchdowns, three field goals. Sure. The other thing that I'm considering, or that I want to see better of, is this whole return game is just bullshit. Your return game sucks. Figure it out. Get someone in there to return the ball more than 0.2 yards, or whatever. Or play the no return game. So that's it. That's it for us. We'll be back next week. Remember to follow us on the Twitter, on the Facebook, on the Google+, everywhere we are. Subscribe, remember to make your picks this week. Remember to set your lineup in the Jet Kingdom Fantasy League. We'll be back next week. Maybe we actually will do a Monday one if we win, because it'll be right before the Miami game. Otherwise, we'll definitely talk next week.
00 Justin: Until then, as always, I'm Jake and Justin saying. ...coach rats.
