00:00 Jake: The best place, the best place to be is when expectations are high. Get and ejecting a vodka. the longest running New York Jets. A podcast ever. I'm Jake and joining me, cranky McCrankster and throaty McThroatster. Duck buttery eatery. Justin. Justin. Justin: You know, it's, you know, it's gross. I think my throat could use some duck butter. Jake: Oh, don't say that. That's gross. I explained it to someone the other day. I did too. at the And they literally threw up in their mouth a little bit. Yeah. It was gross. Justin: My wife is a vegan. Oh, gosh. And she is trying to be like really good about not eating too many nuts because they're, well, she needs to eat some nuts to get some protein like. Right. You don't want to eat too much nuts because they're fat. Jake: But not the nuts that produce duck butter. Justin: Well, that's the thing. Thanks for watching. She's like, I can't stop eating the like where she works. They have just these trail mix nuts right everywhere So I can't stop eating these things and I'm like just pretend there's duck fat on them Cuz like one of the local bars that in our neighborhood they have like duck fat roasted Can't even eat the peanuts here. Right? So like yeah, but they taste so good cuz they're roasted in duck butter. Yeah It's duck fat, right? It's duck fat. So then it slipped out duck butter. And she said what's duck butter? She's like, what's duck butter? So then I sent her a link. She was not all that pleased with me. Jake: No, because you're a pig. Um, all right. Well, speaking of pigs, we have a game to review. We'll talk about some news. We'll talk about JK Fantasy League. We'll do the pick them. We'll do the AFC. East throne picks we'll pick the we'll pick the game of the week we'll talk about keys of the castle we'll do it all in this episode of checking a podcast yeah I'm out all right so let's talk about the Jets versus Bears first of all some of the best part of the game our seeds that my buddy got us hooked up and we were in a 50 yard we're in the suite on the 50 yard on the 50 the 50 yard line literally came up pretty much one of the best sweets in the entire Stadium well besides being one of the in the Commissioners Club suite, which one lower below, but it was pretty damn fine. We were in a good spot, a good spot. It's probably one of the best seats Iiciary I've ever sat in. Yeah, I'm with you. Although I kind of missed my seat. You know we were higher up than my seat. e A few rows. Yeah, well, more than a few. Because we're in the, we're up above the lower bowl. Up above the mezzanine bowl. Right. But we're in the first row of it, basically.
03:02 Jake: Well, first of all... We jinxed the game and we're apologized because we didn't sit in our seats. Yeah, that's our fault. Yeah, our fault. And then you jinxed the game because you brought a Bears fan. Justin: That, no, you bring fans of all sorts. No, but I never bring your Bears fans. But you bring dolphins fans to dolphins games. And we've lost. You bring Giants fans to giant games. And we lost. You bring... Patreons fans and we had butt fun both. You do this constantly. You love doing this. I pick all that, but you have to take this one. I'll take it. Alright, it's your fault. I already took it for the seats. Jake: But yeah, that was a sweet sweet. It was pretty cool. Good stuff. The best part is really the water food situation, just like having to be able to pop up and go grab it. I wish it had been a really freezing day or storming or something, so you could have enjoyed it a little bit more. We sat outside, we're in the second row in the suite. It was pretty nice. For a mere mere few thousand dollars that I didn't have to pay. All right, so let's talk about the Jess versus bears. who impressed, who depressed, we'll pick a fool of the game, we'll go over some news. Give me some thoughts. Justin: Huh, my eyes are deceiving me. Yeah, I want to hear about this. Usually I can watch the game and I feel like I've got a good sense of of what's going on and. I am perplexed. My eyes are seeing a better quarterback than what the statistics are proving out to be and the situations are, are dictating because I'm watching a quarterback in Gino Smith that to me looks like a competent national football league starting quarterback. And Yet he's still turning the ball over at an amazing clip. Yep, and we're not playing well in situations where We you know, we're you know, we're putting ourselves in holes We're turning the ball over at an opportune times We're not making good decisions and and this has happened in all three games where in the first game we're lucky we're playing a JV team because certain circumstance where you know he got sacked to take those three points off the board could have lost the Jets the game and it was sort of even Rex said we didn't play well and we happened to win so it's okay but it's not and then you know against Green Bay we got off to that lead and you should not lose that game and there was an interception that kind of caused it and then this game, oh I don't think they caused the whole momentum swing. Agree. Jake: We couldn't get it back. Out of all the games though, this one is the clearest like. This was the last year game. Because he put up, he personally cost us 14 points to me.
06:02 Jake: One he threw a pick six. Pick six in the first minute of the game. The third play I think I rewatch second today. It was the third Justin: It's second play okay second play of the game the first play of the game Gino rolls out right for 11 Hey, take the flag. Okay, then right 25 yard 26 yard play and we were all like yeah. Yeah Fuck yeah, we're at the 50 already, right? And then boom, next play, 45 yard return. First time ever on Monday Night Football, there's been a pick six in the first 30 seconds of the game. Jake: He's setting records. Justin: He's left and right. So that's, that's where I like sort of came out on this game, which was, wow, I'm watching a guy who I feel like is playing better than what. He's playing because if he continues at this pace, he's already turned the ball over five times a three games. The math is bad. And the math on that is not good. It's last year numbers. It's worse than last year. And that's not good. It's not good at all. I mean, when am I going to get a clean game? Jake: I don't know. I don't know. I mean, part of me is like wants to pull the panic button and be like, Justin: I'm not there yet because my eyes are telling me this guy's hold on. s but then a part of me Jake: saying these are games that we looked at the beginning because there's like there's the rational side of me and there's the irrational fan and I'm mostly irrational fan but the rational side of me looked at the schedule and said easy game we're going to win two tough games that we probably are going to lose and then we're going to get out of this gauntlet and we need to win one or a couple of these gauntlet games. We had this game to win. Like if you went, if not for pick six and if not for a blown blown call on the field with the touchdown. By the way, I just want to bring this back to a conversation we had last year. When I said that I think that the new rule should be that any play Any part of it can be thrown out to be a call. I don't care if it's the coin flip, to anything should be able to be reviewed. They went and reviewed this, but that's not enough. You need to be able to say if the call on the field is wrong, then the outcome of the-thing should be reversed as well. And the outcome was... It was a touchdown. Justin: But because he blew it dead. Right. The play has is over in your mind if you hit somebody after a whistle you get flagged you stop Okay, stop when the play is dead Jake: Okay. Yeah, why you can't I wait but you're not listening could have happened. No you you're not listening what I I want them to say is that the ruling of that the of that blowing of that whistle to make the play dead was
09:05 Jake: The play should have continued, and the guy that's at the 10 yard line running towards the end zone, would have, no matter what, gotten a touchdown. Well first of all, he wasn't at the 10. Well he was at the 30. When they blew the play dead, players stop. Justin: So you don't know who would have or could have chased anybody down halfway down the field, because that play happened like at the 50. Yeah, so once you Blow a play. I'm gonna say I watched it six times. I get it back and forth the fault in this is not in the in the They should be allowed to say well, they shouldn't have blown it dead. So whatever happened after happens No, what they should because imagine imagine this for a second. Oh And the only thing that's been going on for a long time now is that the game is set Jake: There are a lot of different games that I've been playing. Justin: Cause one guy stopped because he hears a whistle cause you're trained. When you hear the whistle, stop it. And everyone else is like, fuck the whistle.. I'm not going I'm not I'm not I'm Don't blow the whistle. If it's questionable, just like if you think that might be a touchdown, call it a fucking touchdown because it's an automatic review. If you think that that could have even remotely been a turnover, call it a turnover. That way you get to review it. Automatically. You get to go review it. Don't blow it. Just let it go. What's the worst thing that happens? If it's not a fumble, you put it back. If it is a fumble, great, you let the play happen. Jake: I think the argument would be, if you let every play go beyond where you should have blown the whistle, then the more people will get hurt. Justin: No, no, no. Turnovers, touchdowns, like when you're getting tackled. Jake: But he was dead from the other side, so he didn't see that it was out. When you get tackled. He thought there was a quarterback down on the ground. Justin: When you get tackled at the quarter yard line. Yes. or one foot line, whatever. They should just call that a touchdown every time. When there's a catch in the end zone and it's questionable whether they're two feet down or not, just call it a touchdown. Don't make coaches waste things. They can get this review shit done so fast now because they're going back to New York. Jake: That's working, by the way. I think the New York part of it is working. Go with it, touchdown. Because by the way, just at the game, he walked down into that booth, spent. Justin: 4.2 seconds and then what happened is decision was just trying to say where am I gonna put the ball right and right? Jake: What's the time in the clock right?
12:00 Jake: Alright, so let's go back to it my my feeling my point though Justin: I do kind of I don't know you can't really do it with the whistle you kind of have to just swallow the whistle That's the play tell the tell the refs to swallow Jake: I feel like then they would say that people are gonna get hurt if you stop swallowing pills Then people keep playing until the whistle and R. What you want is people to keep playing anyway Justin: I understand. So you can't have a whistle and then play. I want everything. That doesn't work at all. Jake: I want the touchdown. But here's the thing. So I am both upset that we lost in the fashion that we lost, but I look back and again when we get to week eight, I won't be remembering what I picked in week zero, right? But now it's week three and I'm very clear what I remember picking and I remember thinking we're going to lose this game. And I don't even know if that's what I picked. But I remember we're going to lose a lot of these games in the middle and we're going to try to get to this gauntlet. So I also feel like your eyes are not lying to you. What you're seeing for most of the plays is a competent or a rising, competent, professional NFL football quarterback. What you're also seeing to just expose him is a second year quarterback making second year mistakes. The problem is they're just, they're adding up and they're adding up fast. Whereas if you had one of these every other game, then you would be like, oh, okay, he's now made in a period of, you know, whatever. And there was another interception on this one that the guy just, you know, tipped it and didn't get it. Justin: And that last drive where we went down to, near the goal line. in. The first play of that drive was should have been an interception, right? But here's where it hurts. Why is it hurt? Where's everyone really talked about the game yet? We're talking a lot about Gino Here's where her all the game kind of started ended with him. It literally started and ended with him He's you're saying second year quarterback, right? Yes in The recent let's say the last five or six years You kind of know what you have now. It's a different league. So like you watch, I mean, Russell Wilson won the Super Bowl last year in year two. Yep. You know Russell Wilson's great. Yep. You looked, I mean, now Andrew Luck's year three, but you watch what he did last year and you're like, wow, okay. We know Andrew Luck is really good if not great. Yeah. Right? He also did a lot of picks last year. I get it. But... I mean he's also throwing for like 4,000 some odd yards and going to the playoffs and winning a playoff game in epic fashion And all that other stuff. I feel like now you could all right Blaine Gabbard. He's not a good quarterback Right. I feel like I'm watching like Ryan Tannehill now, and I'm just kind of praying that maybe he's good Cause you don't know and like if you don't know, he's probably not that good. And you gotta go to the not good. I'm right like don't you feel like he's in the Ryan Tannehill zone? Like you're like okay maybe. Stick with him cause he's young maybe.
15:02 Justin: I mean he's not in the um in the... in the Blaine Gabbard zone, right? He's not in the guy in Minnesota. Ponder Christian Ponder Zone. Jake: I don't think he's there, by the way, he's not bar Christian Ponder Zone. Yeah. Or name of a band. Justin: He's not he's not in the Russell Wilson or Andrew Luck area either. RG three is totally incomplete. At this point, you'd have to say he's kind of a he's kind of bust. I mean, you kind of have to say it. I mean, looking at it. Um, you don't want to put them with Colin Kaepernick either. No. So I don't know where I don't know where my eyes are saying this guy has potential. And then it's like mental mistake after mental mistake. Ah, those two picks are just costly. Jake: So here's the thing. Well, question for you. How much of a short leash should he be on? Justin: He needs to be able to go through this whole thing and into the easier part of the schedule. Jake: But what happens getting Mike Vick was a good thing. Not what they're doing with him now, which I think three games in, I'm still 100% right because he now has one run for three yards. I think he's now... Seven plays on the field for a positive three yards. So no, maybe not a lot of yards Might be zero because he had negative three yard play a lot of yards So he literally has been on the field seven or eight times and the net gain of those seven times on the field is zero yards But what I felt like was good in the offseason when they grabbed him Was that this is a guy that if we were losing and if it was looking like a bad Gino game has enough, I don't think he can come into one play, but I feel like you put him in on the second half, you put him in the middle of the third quarter and say, okay, warm up, buddy, get ready, we're gonna go, and you're gonna go in and you're gonna fucking win this game for us. Because you're Michael Vick and you're crazy and it's prime time and I wanna see some Vick action, the Michael Vick show, and I feel like he could do that. So if we wait through this and we watch Gino throw another five picks and another three games, it's gonna be too late. Then it's like why are we paying this one year wonder, right? Because Michael Vicki ain't around next year, kids. Yeah, well, you have this schedule that's just obnoxious. Justin: But then it gets so much easier It's true. So but what you want to win a couple of these obnoxious games I don't think they I don't then let Michael Vick get hurt. I don't have to go outside the realm of of Possibility in reality that they win two out of the next four. All right, let Jake: Let's talk about this. So we had for the game in terms of injuries. We had We had no and no Justin: We had I think Decker played 12 plays.
18:00 Jake: Decker played almost nothing. It looked like. They just want to see if he could go and he couldn't. Yeah. I'm a little. I'm a little. Justin: Rex was optimistic. Uh, Rex is optimistic that are hopeful that Eric Decker will play and he's not optimistic. that D. Milliner will be. Jake: No, Milliner, get 100% ready. He can't be half. I think he needs to last a while. Decker is big and strong, and I feel like can make a move. You can't be as a corner, and a small corner, he's not like a big corner. He'll get just toasted. Like, I'd rather just play with the guys we have, than have Milliner out there, in anything other than 95%. That's it. When you're 95% and you're looking like that guy who played in the last three games of last year, the guy who's like knocking balls down and intercepting them left and right, that guy? Come back. Otherwise, go sit in the hot tub. It's hot tub time for you, buddy. Hot tub time. Um, now we're talking. But this team seems to collapse very fast when Decker's not on that field. Justin: Well, it's back to last year. That's why I felt for Gino in the second half. I mean, he's got Curly. And he's got... that's it. He's got Nelson, Marv, Salas. Jake: Marv with the big drop. He had a big drop. Um, and the other thing I'm surprised at, and you're probably gonna look at this goal where we had this great running game, but Chris Johnson is just not like... No. He doesn't look like he's got it, and I don't like the way they're using him. I like the way they're using Ivory, which is everywhere. Pound him up the middle, have him go out, throw him the ball, and then he picks him on the 15 yards. But we know that Ivory isn't gonna last the whole frickin' year, because he just runs like a maniac. Ivory should probably get about five more runs a game than he's currently getting. Justin: I think right now the split is pretty much what it is in this game, which was 10-10. But I wanna see 15 and 15. I wouldn't mind seeing 15 out of Ivory and 10 out of John. Like, let's give Ivory the work. He's the one who's gonna... He got us to the show. Well, he's the one who's running harder and running better right now. And he even had some catches in this game, I think, right? Yeah. He had four catches in this game. 52 yards. Yeah. Jake: And that's the stuff you would expect Chris Johnson to be doing, and he's not doing any of that stuff. Chris Johnson targeted twice, zero substance. Thanks for watching! And one, he had a bad drop, like he was in his hands. The one was the screen. Some of the drops and some of the stuff that's going on here. The screen, he just wasn't there and it was thrown and that was the pick. Justin: Yeah, that needs to be thrown right at the feet. Jake: So it doesn't get picked. Alright, so let's pick our... What do we got here? Let's pick our fool. We had our bad calls, we had our bad genome. We talked about the Vic action. 10. Still feeling it or no? Really? Still feeling like setting this up for something? Justin: I don't mind one play a game, two plays a game, have them in there. It doesn't bother me at all. Empty downs? Who gives a fuck? An empty down could be a plunge up the middle for two yards with Balal Powell. Jake: But they're not four down. They're not anything positive. He's never making a play.
21:02 Justin: What's the dirt? What's the difference if it's first and 10 and he runs for three yards if it's him or anyone else? Jake: If he ran for three yards, I'd be all into it. But he's not doing that's exactly what happened in this game He's also lost three yards in the last game. What's the difference if he does it or if someone else does it? What do you care? You're back up quarterback. I don't want him hurt fine. All right. I I still think at some point you're gonna see Justin: And you're gonna be like, oh That was a big play. Why'd that happen? Jake: Listen, I'm hoping. I'm hoping I'm wrong. Because right now, I don't like the way they're using him. I feel like... They use them on one play. Yeah! Dumb. Okay. Dumb. The one play for three yards. Could've handed it to frickin' Bohannon for the three yards. Give me your fool of the game. Or if you want to give me a depressed and impressed. You're racist. You want Bo-Hannon to get the ball? I am so racist. Give me a fool the game. So racist. Justin: I can't give this to anybody. Oh, man, so many fools. Huh? This is where I finally just give my fool to Gino. I want to reserve the right to give him. his fool on his really bad games. Jake: Oh, wait, if there's not two picks, three sacks. Like, did throw for 300 yards. Yeah, and playing catch up the entire time. How many three and else did he have? Justin: They still ran a ton more than Chicago did. Well, that's our defense. And they peed. I mean, they were on the field quite a bit, actually. They had... I mean we had 150 more yards than they did. That's a good offense. We actually played fairly well on defense. We think about it. Well, I'm talking about the defense. The defense really didn't give up a whole lot. Jake: You know what? I'm going to give this to... I'm gonna give this to like you don't want to give it to Gino. I don't why? Because I want to keep his confidence up. Fuck. I'm giving Gino Gino. You're the fool of the game. Justin: All right, I'm gonna give it to jell and sanders Saunders. Oh god because they the jets did a good job They got off the field They were gonna get the ball in good field position on the first that punt And he just muffed it again. So I think he's done returning punts. Oh yeah. I think you only get two muffs in the first three games as a rookie. And then you're done. Am I like this right in it that David Nelson had two fumbles? Jake: He did. He fumbled them both out of bounds. Okay. Right. That's why we weren't sitting around here going, he's the fool game. Justin: Yeah. I mean, they were just stripping stuff on the, on the sidelines and he just. Was letting them. They weren't fumbles lost. They were just fumbles Jake: All right, well, let's move on to some news Okay, I guess we have the genome the hot seat. I don't see it yet. I think we got no I don't see it. We have a couple games, but one more game like this
24:00 Jake: And I think it's officially on the there's another two turnover game Justin: After if if we go through the first quarter of the season he's got seven turnovers and the Jets are one You've got to start to here's my thing with this game Jake: I'm a little bit upset is the whole thing of praying in Vic was that if you know struggling to put in put in Vic To like help you stick in the game. You know what? He wasn't struggling that badly. It's 17 13 at half Justin: So you can't just be like I'm pulling him why you're gonna know you're not gonna know until you know Not out of the game. We were never really out of this game. We clawed our way back into it. It was... I actually heard about so he wrote opinion column on his website, which is owned by ESPN, but is his. He like runs the editor in chief, whatever. And, and wrote basically Roger Goodell is like the most embarrassing sports commissioner that we've ever seen. He should, he, you know, he should resign. So on and so forth. He's a huge hypocrite, this, that and the other. He's been calling him this nickname, I can't even recall, Jake: and Justin: He's the sports guy. Are we an entertain like what are we because if we're if we're gonna pretend to report the news with our sources and breaking stories and the word news Okay, then and you're gonna have columnists who write opinions You have to separate yourself from the fact that you have Millions out millions and millions and millions of dollars in contracts with the NFL
27:16 Justin: And you have to allow people to express their opinions. . I mean, have you ever watched Stephen A. Simmons. I looked for Bill Simmons and he happens to be on ESPN. And if they're going to do this with people like they're a good incubator, right, you get your name there, whatever. And then you go somewhere else and either be successful or not. And he would be fine without them. He'd be perfectly fine. He's got a ton of shit going on. I just cannot understand for the life of me how ESPN pays somebody to work for them for his opinions and then suspends him for three weeks because they don't quite like the fact that they're getting on this guy. when he deserves it. Jake: Well, whether he deserves it or not, your base is an opinion. The thing I could see if he crossed lines and they fired people, who was the, uh, who was the pronounce-icator who did all the picks and he made the comment about, you know, how black people played it. Oh, not Limbaugh. No, not Limbaugh. It was before. Jimmy the Greek. Justin: Oh well Jimmy the Greek was I think like CBS or something. Jake: But that type of thing is fine. You cross racial lines or whatever. They got rid of Rush too. Rush, right? Well he's out there. He said the thing about McNabb. Right. So I can totally see if you're going to cross racial lines, but just calling someone out and saying that, you know. that basically you're messing up and you should resign. I don't think that that's that bad. Also, it just shows me that ESPN is owned by the NFL. Like the National Football League, who lets them put their, you know, lets them put by the grace of God, lets them put their sport on them that they pay them for. But we allow you to do it, that you know that someone in the NFL made a phone call and was like, week. This guy's gotta go. Well it's a testament to how popular Bill Simmons is. Justin: I think it's a testament to how powerful the NFL is. Well no, how popular. Popular. Powerful. No, no, I get how powerful the NFL is, but how popular one person is. Well, it doesn't matter. If we said something totally outrageous. They wouldn't give a fuck. Well no, we don't know. Jake: This doesn't matter, but if it got picked up on the interwebs. Justin: Things are very like they would come after the Jack thing the ESPN's we are like Teflon enter Jake: Entertainment and sports programming now we get fired for saying duck butter. No, well, we don't we don't we don't get fired. We don't Justin: Yeah, if I don't know ESPN I try and sneak duck butter in every every ESPN does not or NFL Jake: Does not come across looking good in any of these situations ever I'm not ever fun league I don't think ever, I'm not guys as ever,
30:00 Jake: I think there are certain situations that they do things that are reactionary, there's certain things they do that are proactive, but there are certain times that they just come across as looking bad. I still feel like the Ravens in all this situation look worse. I think the Vikings look worse, they like set these out, then they pull them back like. But the thing is the National Football League is a nonprofit organization made up of 31 owners And that's it Roger Goodell is nothing more than a figurehead with 31 hands up his ass Tell him what to do That's it. And he's got the hardest job on the planet I guess paid 41 million dollars a year to do it. So, you know, don't cry for me Argentina, but He is, but it's tough because he's basically, he's the guy who takes the shit. When that sign you put on your desk, the buck, the shit or the buck stops here, that's his, that's like on his forehead. Because it ain't the owners. You don't hear the owners taking flack for all this shit. It's their league, they created it, they own it. they're the ones who make the money. Roger Goodell makes a salary. These guys make the profits. Justin: Alright, I just don't like the fact that ESPN took a popular personality forgiving his opinion on this thing and Suspended him for three weeks Jake: Yeah, no, I don't like it either. Let's move on. Let's move on something fun. Let's talk about the JK Pickham Or talk about jk fantasy first, you know, let's do that because I'm a fucktard. Oh, man. You got called out I'm a sucking. I'm a fucktard because on last week I left in what'd you do? I left in Doug Martin and and rowdy white and rowdy white neither of whom played on Thursday So my 43 points is because I could beat sizzle daddy jets cuz those two players you're just blaming Yeah, your own stupidity. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Meanwhile, I'm still rest of being the champion of the only JK 12 person. We, meanwhile, I'm three and oh, you're three. No, I'm gonna come back. You know what? You know, it- Justin: Let's talk about this week though. I did choose this, this year to not necessarily care about the whole by week. Well, not the by weeks. Forget that. I never, I never care about by weeks but the the rule of I'm not taking a guy who plays the Jets So this week though, I have Calvin Johnson who happens to just be sitting on my bench Yeah, and I get this alert from ESPN. They're like, hey, you should reset your line. Oh, really? Yeah, they're like you have a guy on your bench who's projected to do a lot better than a guy you're starting This good the mobile app is like yeah Jake: Dumbass I wish you sent me the goddamn award to tell me you got people who are not starting at all Minute scratches right both Justin: Well, I know Roddy White was very late very very like people that like like would have played on Sunday if they played on Sunday Type of situation, but then the Falcons are like the book suck we can win without Roddy. Yeah this week
33:04 Jake: I'm going up against victorious Jack Dobson one of the Dobson brothers who am I playing and I don't know Justin: I am playing dogs of Vickmas pass. Oh nice. So his jet is Jason Marrow. Nice. Solid. And my jet is the Jets defense. Yeah, he has Greg Salas as his jet, Jake: and I have David Nelson as my jet. Ah. Projected to have one point. Better than Jason Marrow's zero. I need my, I need a little love for my Morris and Martin combination. Justin: All right. Let's move on to the pick-up. Let's do the pick. Jake: Last week's winner, Brumie Jet. Not you. I have one more than you. I'm pulling away. You are pulling away. It's week three. I'm going to catch up. I have all the way till the Super Bowl to catch you. Justin: The buys are starting so we have less games down. Jake: Brumie Jet is still number one and by himself now with 27 points. Justin: Wow, 27 and 3. Jake: That's pretty good. He had nine last week, but the winner of the week was actually a person in the pool. Um, or sorry in the JK league. What's it's like me? You're looking for got the high of 11 and won the tiebreaker cuz someone else the hooligans also got 11 Oh, I did shitty with the six and I think you put a seven. Yeah, I did seven. Yes. Yeah, so you're You're four points ahead. So I have to make up some room. I don't make it up Justin: So I will now pick again. I always make my picks before you pick so you know, I've already made them I know okay. Yeah, I make them as we go Jake: No, I take them every week and then go back and look at them. Justin: Oh, okay. Let's go. Alrighty, let's do it. So people know what we're doing? Yes. Yeah, say it again. So we're picking every game against the spread, starting with tonight's game, which is Thursday. And we will not talk about the AFC East, because we'll go into a little more detail. We'll actually predict scores on the AFC East games, the AFC East, for own picks. So... Let's start with tonight's awesome Thursday night division matchup. Washington is home and they are facing the New York Giants who got off the Schneider Schneider. They beat Houston. I picked that. You did. Good job. Easton's not very good. Washington and Kirk Cousins. Kirk Cousins looks like this year's Nick Foles. Oddly enough, they played against each other in last week. Washington's home. They are favored by four. This line moved from three to four from Monday to Wednesday, and I'm taking Washington. Jake: Washington at home. Giants got their win. They're okay now. Justin: Well, this is a big division game. I feel like Washington just has more talent. Let me just say I am happy with the Thursday night games. Yeah, the division makes it a little sizzle. I know last week's game was horrible. 56 to 14. But I mean, whatever the
36:04 Justin: fact that these are division games makes this it's so great. It's going. The only thing is There are some division games that that should not be played on Thursday night Versus the Seahawks should not be a Thursday night game I don't know why not like someone might die in that game why though It's way too physical like the Baltimore Pittsburgh game should not have been a Thursday night game Should not be Thursday night. I don't I don't know why I cuz I feel like these games aren't that good I feel like the home team is at a super duper advantage So having them be division games is fun, but so next week. It's Vikings Packers. Yeah, that's good Vikings Packers Colts Texans Jake: Good again, and that's Patriots. I don't like charges Broncos just going through the Saints Panthers Browns Bengals, that's not a great one Bills Dolphins. Okay divisional. That's a good one Chiefs Raiders. No Oh, third Raiders is a good rivalry though. Seahawks 49ers, but that's a, that's, that's Thanksgiving. It's a special Thursday night. That's fine. That's a great day of football. Oh my lord. Bears, Lions, Eagles, Cowboys, Seahawks 49ers. They play twice on Thursday night? Justin: That can't be. Seahawks 49ers, both of their games are Thursday night games. Yeah. Are you serious? Yeah. Jake: That's stupid. Oh, whatever. Anyway, do some good games. Is that for real? Yeah. For realsers? That's just dumb. Alright, let's go. Let's pick them. So I'm picking Washington. Justin: Me too. Laying for. Green Bay in Chicago. Green Bay is favored here. Jake: by From negative 1 to 1.5, I too will pick Chicago. Justin: That doesn't make sense when you say it that way. Negative 1 to 1.5. Jake: That's what it went from. Justin: But negative 1 is... What is it? No, I see how it's laid out, but I think how you're saying it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Jake: Whatever, the points have shifted by... Justin: I don't quite understand. What I think this is trying to say is Chicago actually started the week as a favorite. And now as an underdog. Jake: Yes. Justin: Which doesn't make any sense. Jake: I feel like the Jets kept up with them, and that's why they were like, really? You didn't destroy them? Put your hand in Chicago and Green Bay lost. Yeah. Well, Green Bay's not looking very good. Green Bay never loses the Lions. I got beat. Justin: take Chicago. Yeah. Stupid home dog. ahm alright. Indie is hosting Tennessee. Indie is favored
39:03 Justin: by seven and a half. Give me points. I'll take Tennessee lose by seven. Agreed. Okay. Uh, moving right along, we have Pittsburgh hosting Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh favored by seven and a half. I really like Pittsburgh. They just beat the crap out of Carolina in, Carolina. Tampa. Just got their ass smacked and Pittsburgh at home, seven and a half. Give me Pittsburgh. ... Sweep it. Baltimore's home to Carolina, the team that just got smoked by Pittsburgh and Baltimore is favored by three and a half. I don't feel like Baltimore plays, I don't feel like Baltimore wins games by more than a field goal. Okay, I feel like all their games are just so tight and I don't I don't think that they have the firepower the horses to Blow by Carolina's Carolina's what defense that just got destroyed. I get the bad games here and there That was the destruction it was and I feel like you need that sometimes where Carolina's all ends Like where their weapons where's Baltimore's weapons? San Diego is giving 13 and Jacksonville is so bad. And San Diego really looks like a good team. 13 so many points. I got to I got to take San Diego. I can't take Jacksonville. Blake Bortles and no receivers, no offensive lines. And he was kind of crushed. Yeah, I just talked myself into it. San Diego 13. Don't like it too many points. Take Jackson. You hate points. I hate the big points. Um, okay. Another road favorite. Keep them off. Keep them off. Keep them off. Keep them off. Keep a a. Jake: Keep them off. that a Justin: portals and our portals Bridgewaterhighest. not man's L not man's L and not anyone else really drafted that matters not Taj boyed all right how's boys sign with the AFL or something that's where he belongs Atlanta is in Minnesota Atlanta with extra rest favorite by three better than Minnesota Jake: I just I remember this is an outdoor game. This is not an indoor game. What's your point?
42:04 Jake: And I was terrible on the road. They're terrible outside. I feel like this will be a This is that game that the rookie has it was like oh, and then he'll just go back to being a rookie He'll just look like a rookie. I think he'll look a little bit better than a rookie Justin: Rookies. All right, give me a minute soda Um This is a really fun game. This will be the game I'll be watching in 425. San- San. Francisco. Jake: You won't be watching any of this. You're gonna be at a wedding. So shut up. Justin: Ah. D- This asshole. Let me tell you about my friend. Jake: Do I really want to take this rat hole? Not only. You were absolutely banned from our house. Was I? Justin: Oh. Because I'm playing your wife in fantasy. Yeah, you've been banned. For this week only? I don't know. Maybe forever. Maybe forever? Yeah, you have to do something. Why? Jake: What did I. I do. You didn't do anything. I'm not obnoxious. You still obnoxious. Me, you're the obnoxious one Nope, she has to put up with me Watch your daughter It's funny because the other business part is going to be there Justin: I'm not watching your daughter It's fine See how that works out for you Unbelievable So upset right now So what's your asshole friend doing to you? Well first of all Who gets married on fucking Who does this on a Sunday evening? Oh, evening. Jake: Yeah. Justin: Secondly, I miss my jets. And it just so happens that this will be the last time that Derek Jeter ever plays professional baseball. And I don't get to watch that either. Oh. I am not a happy camper. Anyway. Sorry about that. San Francisco's hosting Philly. And I have no reason, I have no understanding of... ...of NFL lines. Why is San Francisco favored by five and a half? Philly's 3-0. They look like a really good team. San Francisco can't do shit in the second half of any game. Philly, all they do is put up touchdowns in the second half of games. How, what business does San Francisco have being favored by five and a half in this game? Give me Philly. Jake: I don't know. Homefield, crossing the, crossing the great divide, time zone. What does San Francisco have anything to do with it? You know, going on one side of the other sometimes. I feel like they feel like Philly's just not for real. think they're a paper tiger because they keep starting these games so low and then having to do all this crazy shit to come back. Justin: But they scored 30 something points a game. Jake: I know. I'm with you Philly. I'm thinking Philly. I mean, even if they kept it close. Justin: On a quick aside, Philly has won 34 17, 30 to 27 and 37 34. They haven't scored less than 30 points this whole season. Right. And I don't really see that stopping. San Francisco is not. That good, sorry Super Bowl picker. You just don't look that good. Alright. Sunday night, pretty good one. New Orleans, in Dallas. Jake: Yeah, this is actually solid. I'll actually watch this. Justin: Yeah, Rob Ryan's brother, back in Dallas. Whatever, he's terrible. Or Rex Ryan's brother, Rob, back in Dallas. New Orleans favorite on the road by three don't really understand that not a good road team lost their last five road games
45:06 Justin: So give me Dallas at home and the three points. This is a different Norlin's team Jake: I feel like they're a much more run heavy team Yeah, but they keep losing on the road. This is not they're not a consistent team. Where's Dallas now? They wanted to or two and one Two and one and I know you want them to like stay. Yeah, they're gonna lose and so that we tuned to that's why I'm picking Orleans, but they're getting points three points. You're just picking that straight. Yep Let's move Let's go to the AFC East throne picks. Yeah, cuz Monday night. Yeah, so let's see how we did last week You and I both got KC wrong cuz KC beat up on Miami You predicted- Wait a minute, I got that right, dickhead. Oh, did you? Yeah. You're cheating. I'm cheating. Justin: You're a fucking cheater. So cheater. I said Kansas City would beat Miami. Jake: Okay. You douche. Alright, well then we're tied. So you got that right, I got that wrong. You're an ass. But you got San Diego. You thought Buffalo was gonna win against San Diego. I did, I did. They didn't. It did. And I said they weres by a point so I got that right. You said that Oakland was going to win, no I got a beat and I did and then we both got the Chicago Giant. We almost got the score right. We were very close. Just the wrong way. Now we go to our four match ups. We will end with the Giant, the Jets game even though it's the earliest because that'solitical way we do. If you don't like it, Duck Butter Pie for you. Justin: Right, Duck Butter Pie. So for those are our friends over in London. Yes our friends in the first Kingdom fan the first of the three International series. Yeah, so you guys are getting a really good one here. You're going You're getting Oakland hosting Miami In London, how are they there's a fucking where do they do this? Jake: Wimbledon, I think Wimbledon. That's not a place. I don't know Just the Yeah, I just Justin: said when we're at like one of the soccer stadiums there. I don, I don't know. Let's go. Doesn't matter. All right, whatever. So, Miami is going to London to play at Oakland and Miami is favored by four on the road. Um I see Miami Miami winning this game just because Oakland so bad. It's more of a Miami's gonna beat a bad team. Jake: How bad is Casey I don't know yet. Justin: I'm not certain.
48:06 Jake: I am Michael Jackson. Who's that? Justin: Doc Letter, Doc Letter. Miami is bad. They're bad. But are they as bad as Oakland? We've seen Oakland. They held it pretty close with New England, but that doesn't mean anything. New England might not be very good either. Jake: No, no. Miami is not good either. New England at home, they held it close and you're worried about. I'm going to Oakland. I'm not worried about shit. I'm just thinking that Miami is gonna win 13 to 10 Jesus. Oh, sorry Justin: Well, I just played the 16 Jake: They held us to 19. I prospective Just this is their year to be in the statement. Yeah, that's their They blew their, they blew their wad they blew their butter 21 24 Oakland Justin: When the you you say things very weird 24 21 Oakland that's better. It's the same thing just sound dumb when you say it the other way Jake: I'm reading it the way. I'm reading it. All right, Miami 21 Oakland 24 so dumb All right, Buffalo is going to Houston. Yes Justin: Houston and they get to play Fitsy It's a revenge game revenge Jake: and Justin: I watched a little bit of that Buffalo and I'd be more concerned if I was a Bills fan than then I am as a Jets fan about my quarterback situation guys not good. Not a good quarterback. You know, you can't really throw. Really? Shit. That's not nice. I don't think I've actually played his games actually. Watch him throw. He's very bad at it. It's kind of the thing you need to be good at when you're a quarterback. Jake: 39 well, okay, he's not a good thrower. He's gone from 72% to 61% to 59% He's not good at he said three touchdowns in the three games throwing one interception though Justin: Yeah, he's one fumble. You should watch him like the ball though. It's okay. It doesn't look good All right. There's a lot of short passes because he can't the field anyway, I think JJ wack causes some damage in this game I'm not gonna be able to run the ball as well as they would like to and I think Fitzy has a little revenge on the mind and they win. Jake: Houston wins 2016. I think that Houston will win. I think that Buffalo will lose. I think that Houston, Texans will score 31 points. I think the Buffalo Bills will score 20 points. The Jills?
51:01 Jake: Okay. Justin: The Patriots is a little better. The Patriots are going to Kansas City. Jake: Tough place to play. Justin: Do we know if Jamal Charles is playing? Jake: He was practicing last week. Sounds like he's playing. He was scratched from the game. But he practiced like. Justin: week this week he's this week he's this week he's this week he he's I think New England is just a little bit more Another class than Kansas City. I know it's a tough place to go and play They don't they don't Scare you like down the field Kansas City. They're kind of a between neither of these terrible scare you down the field, but New England's got Tom Brady and that always puts a little fear into my heart. So I like New England to win in a somewhat low scoring affair 21-13. Jake: Yeah, I mean, the thing is I haven't really watched, South where I'd be I'll be in Atlanta Hot Nana. Rise up. Rise up on Monday night and I'll be enjoying this in a place of establishment. Justin: An establishment that serves alcohol. I can't believe I'm not allowed in your house. You're not allowed. I don't think that's Sundays anymore. Jake: Um... That is such bullshit. Oh, you might have just been banned for this week. I don't know. I am getting... You have to talk to the commissioner. Because it might have been a one week banned. It might have been a lifetime banned. Justin: Am I suspended because I made fun of her or something? Jake: She just doesn't want to have you around when she's playing you. I told you wasn't there you weren't there anyway. She's a wedding and she's like, okay. I Justin: Mean whatever she takes this fantasy stuff way too. Yeah, no, you certainly you don't Jake: Fucking takes it very brag bullshit asshole very seriously All right, you know what you wish you were me the New England Patriots score 23 points at the game of football on Monday night. The Kansas City Chiefs, all hail Chiefs, in Arrowhead Stadium score only 17 points. To lose the game, 23-17 New England. You sound like a douchebag when you do it. I'm trying to make it so you understand it. Alright, let's get to it. What's that? This game fucking hurts me. Justin: This is a winner. This is a winner, winner, chicken dinner. I wish it was a winner, winner, chicken dinner. So the game of the week, game of the night. Game of the day, game of the whatever. Game of the hour. I will be there. You'll be there. I'll not even be watching. Jake: I'm going to my 2014 predictions. Just wanted to see. I had a winning against the Raiders.
54:00 Jake: I just losing against the Packers. I had us losing against the Bears. I had us winning against the Lions. Justin: Go on, preach on my brother. Um, let's see. So the Lions have a good front four. Uh, they have. a bunch of first round picks on their line. And you know what's foothold about playing the Lions is that they rely on those four guys to get to the quarterback. They don't, they don't blitz a whole lot. And apparently in reading some stuff about Gino, that's where he really struggles. when the blitz is on. Right. Which is odd because you think you just pick where's the blitz coming from and you just sort of hit your read and go. Quick snap decision. But against the four man rush and when maybe we can hold off some of the pressure from inside the line it's going to come from. Maybe he plays, you know, they got Sue and Fairly in there pretty dangerous combo dangerous Ziggy answer on the outside first rounder last year and those are some dangerous dudes But I think if the offensive line can hold up we can get a little someone's of a running game going You might be able to score some points against these And then basically it's a how do we not allow Calvin Johnson to just go absolutely nuts. Jake: So second day in a row he has not practiced. He has not practiced all week. There's an ankle thing out there. You're saying ooh but I know you have been like 17 leagues so. Justin: I have not been. I don't really pay attention to his injury stuff because I know that through the years he just. Doesn't practice a lot and then just ends up playing and it doesn't matter Jake: So your key of the castle is coughing over on the side of the room. Yes. Okay. What's your key of the castle? Justin: Not letting the I feel like we have to force Stafford into mistakes because he's super mistake prone And if you just get in his face a little bit, he'll start throwing it sidearm and shit. Yeah, like running around and doing stupid things. And. I just feel like our defense needs needs to have one of those games where they just totally disrupt and maybe score some points. I know we were supposed to score some points here in the Chicago game, like you said earlier. But I'm ready for the defense to really like not drop that pick right and score and You know hurt a quarterback. I know that sounds terrible, but like really shake someone up I haven't seen him really hit anybody Well, I want to see prior run through there smack the shit out of he's playing out of position We got a lot of guys playing at position. I don't think he's playing the right position right now. He's playing like
57:00 Justin: 30 yards off the fucking line. Jake: He was playing, watching him at that. Just from that amazing seats. It was awesome watching him. Justin: I mean, you got, because you have Landry, who's the box safety. And I mean, really, the problem is you've got Antonio Allen playing that corner and he's the guy. Antonio should be playing deep. Everyone shifted all over the place. Jake: Antonio Allen should be playing deep. Justin: Prior should be in the box. That's right. Some other guy should be playing corner a corner. How about a corner playing corner? I think it's only I was gonna be the guy to try and cover Calvin Johnson who they put on Brandon Marshall They saw they were just flipping around but I think Antonio Allen's the guy for for Cal we let go of Lancaster Jake: Right, we signed up to quell Justin: Johnson right the guy who was the awful guy from the priest right which means milliner is not playing Jake: I mean milliner is not playing he's not playing Decker is dated I feel like that gonna be one of those things. I'll try him out there They'll be like is it good and he'll be like yes, he'll go out. He's gonna be golden tape He's gonna have a monster game Just the absolute just because just because everybody's gonna be helping over gonna be a killer Justin: He's gonna he's gonna have a hundred yards and probably a touchdown All right, so your key the castle is deep stop. Yeah, you gotta stop that. Well passing Jake: Just knock Stafford around a little bit. I'm clearly not too worried about the running game Justin: I mean, Joy Bell and Reggie Bush is the type of runner that could get good gashes because they won't they won't run I'm not a lot of them not worried about Joy Bell. Well, you know, you're a Bush is the kind of player that can get you You don't look around they'll so much better at this than you you yeah keep coughing Smarter than you. Yeah, I will take 14 to 22 What are you even saying I'll take the Jets to win 14 22 Jake: Yeah, and if you're a smart individual, you understand that the person who you picked with the higher score is the person you picked to win, idiot. Anyway, I'm not worried about Joy Bell. I'm not really worried about Reggie Bush. I think they'll do the swing passes. They'll have to get in the ball in space. They'll use him like we want to use Calvin Johnson. Oh, sorry, Calvin. Oh, sorry. Chris Johnson, but are not. He'll have some nice plays, but I don't think he's gonna be spectacular Clearly worried about the secondary and their big boys making plays. Here's my thing. This is the same game plan from Green Bay. Now the way the Green Bay game went down was way in our favor. I never thought we'd get up on them and just be able to do that. But if we could do something like that to the team, get up on them at home, not lose the crowd, get in momentum, I feel like this is a winnable game. It has to be close. It's gonna be points. We're gonna have to stick up there. I agree. We need a game where we're, we're pick sixing,
1:00:01 Jake: where, you know, Fumble covering in the end zone, we're touchdowning, we're, we're using a couple of those things that are getting us. An advantage in the game. I feel like we can play with anybody, right? I feel like we can stay, I mean, we've been putting up points. It's not like we're, you know, some of our winning 1310 jets. We're actually putting up points. We're sticking in there with games. We weren't giving them to start like, oh, here's your seven. Here's your line. We'd be in these games. I think that's why they're not pulling Gino because it's like we're in the games and in the games. We're not out of these games. So that's it. That's we just can't be out of it. If we're not out of it, we have a chance to win it. So I think it'll be close. I think it'll come down to the fourth quarter. Um, Seven. Five. I'm predicting the Jets to win. The New York Jets will score 29 points. The Detroit Lions will score 28 points. One point, Jets win. There you go. That's my prediction. What was your prediction for score? Justin: Oh, I didn't say it out loud. Jake: It was 2426 jets. Justin: What you said. Jake: All right. Well, we'll be back next week. Love it or list it, love it or leave it. I will not doing a Monday podcast, even if we win. So maybe that's a double jinx that we will win because I will be traveling, but we will get to one later in the week, Thursday, Friday. So we'll see you then until next time. Justin Jake, as always. Go Jets!
