00:09 Justin: The best place to be is when expectations are high. Get used to it. It's always going to be that way. Get away! Jake: Welcome to the Jekkino Podcast. Longest running New York Jets podcast ever. My name is Jake and joining me for the 169. Woo woo times. It's Justin, Justin. It's been a week off. I will say for those of you who think that we basically didn't record a podcast because we got our asses handed to us by the Dolphins. Not true. We got our asses handed to us by Sandy. Yeah. So there's that. There's that. We would have, we would have. We wanted to do a Bi Week podcast because it's time to, you know, sit back, relax. Like this would have been a much more relaxing podcast, I think, because we have to start this podcast with reviewing that Dolphins game. We don't have to. We could have done that last week. Got it out of the way. Got got it over with. And this week we could have just done all the Bi Week stuff. the mid-season, you know, our bye happens to come right in the middle of the season, which I think is nice. We can look ahead to the schedule, see what we think is going to happen. You know, it would have been really nice to do that, but unfortunately we had a, you know, a horrific storm here in the Northeast and the Jets didn't have a good bye week because they weren't able to do what they probably wanted to do in their bye week, which was get into the get into the rhythm and and and maybe do some extra practicing and stuff but... Well it's a good place to start because where my dolphins game starts is from the from the uh parking lot of the Miami dolphins game. Actually you were there too that's right. I was there yeah I was with you I was right next to you. Um and basically getting getting the evacuation notice from my building as I was... tearing down the tailgate. People don't understand and know, but we do live in the same building. It's kind of scary. It's way. So, it's way scary. We live five floors. I just did that. Yeah, you did. We live five floors for each other and you get the notice and look at me and say, hey. After this game, when we get home, we're supposed to evacuate our building. Yeah, and they're going to shut down all of our elevators. We made the decision together not to evacuate, which turned out to be a wise decision. Although, I would never condone when the mayor says, leave. You should leave. We didn't. We're in a big building. Our balls are enormous. Well, we're in a big building on the East River and we're in a flood zone. But we're in a flood zone. but the flood zone lasts for about a hundred yards. It's like from the beginning of our building to the end of our building. And it went exactly to where it was supposed to go.
03:00 Jake: It was kind of crazy. But the next block over, literally, again, if I stand on the edge of my building and throw a tennis ball, I can throw it into the non-flood zone, into zone B. Well, maybe not you, but I could. on the edge of my building? I could bounce it off my dick and get it into the other building. I don't think so. Maybe with your dick, but not with your arm. Anywho, the point is my dick is bigger than my arm. It's like two unicorns. The balls are just slapping each other. This is gonna be a weird podcast kids, just let me know. Whoa, this just got weird. This just got weird. So that's what the problem is that it's not like we're in a six mile wide radius of zone. We're in this small strip right on the East River that if it gets flooded, it floods. And I will say I've always thought, I've lived there for 12, 13 years now, I always thought, that's so stupid, the flood zone is like... four feet, you know, it's like literally a hundred feet and then stops. So then if I'm in this building, I can evacuate, but my neighbor doesn't have to evacuate. So anyway, we didn't evacuate. We're safe. Some of our friends had much worse off. We literally didn't lose anything but internet for 12 hours. So, um, but yes, uh, you know, I'll take every hurricane from now on. But anyway, that was the beginning of that game. So going into the game, my wife and I with our kid somewhere in the city or actually back back of the house, we made a decision. We're not going to evacuate. We're just gonna go home and batten down the hatches, which we did. Needless to say, the Jets were in the deal with thoughts and prayers for the Sandy people yet to happen and played the worst game I've seen them play since, I don't know, week three. What did you say about this game? You know what, I've actually forgotten about this game. I can say a lot about this game. Let me just boil it down really quick. Our offense is inept. Sorry to say. Miami has a good defense. Yes. They're not that good on offense. As a matter of fact, we knocked their quarterback out of the game in the first quarter. Yeah, and then we let Matt Moore come in. Matt Moore come in. We let our... Our offense is inept. They can't efficiently run the ball with any sort of rhythm. Well, any sort of consistency. That's what I mean. Two weeks ago we ran it for like 230 yards. Against an awful rush defense, but against any kind of average defense. We're gonna talk about Seattle later on. Not average. We have a lot of trouble running the ball. When we have trouble running the ball, we fall apart. Because we're not a come from behind team. We can't be down 20 to nothing at halftime. Because asking Mark Sanchez to throw the ball 54 times, that's a recipe for disaster. Well, especially with the current set of weapons that he has. It's not like he has, you know, Jordan Nelson on one side. . and, you know, Johnson on the other and, you know, whatever. And Wes Walker in the slot, he's got freaking a bunch of people
06:00 Jake: who honestly shouldn't be playing in the National Football League. And he's got a rookie who drops balls. Yeah, I mean, Hill Hill is a rookie. The Hill brothers. Now he's back. Curly is Curly is is is a professional football player. Dustin Keller is a professional football player. Hill has promise but you know at the moment... but here's the thing going into this season we said every fan, every commentator, the Jets just don't have any weapons with with homes. The Super Bowl winning MVP receiver with homes they're like they don't have enough weapons on offense so then we lose the one weapon we have and It's like yeah, you got a bunch of guys, and I'm not saying that's an excuse, but it's like Yeah, but some of these guys are not even Like professional receivers. I mean really Clyde Gates cash Jones These guys wouldn't they're not they're not one of those guys one of those two is the number three receiver They'd be five or not on any other team special teams guys. Yeah Why do you lose this game Justin tell me? You know, I would say a blah offense and shitty special teams That's the thing that's completely, completely ship bag special teams. Here's always rely on our special teams before here's here's what happened we We get a pump blocked For a touchdown, right? We have an onside kick that gets That gets recovered and I think we had a field goal blocked as well. Am I right? I think so. I think that was the first time that happened in 20 years where one team had a pump blocked for a touchdown, an onside kick recovered against them, and a kick blocked. I don't remember if that third thing was a kick blocked or something, but there was like a third thing that happened I think it was a block kick That's terrible You know the the Just it's just so Infuriating that these mistakes on special teams where we're supposed to be good is is just like garbage what what the fuck and then our offense is is really inept I was I was shocked I thought Tony Sperano was gonna get fired I really did I thought he was gonna get fired after this game going into the bye week you have two weeks to get a guy on that staff ready to take it over That's when you fire coaches going into bye weeks. I really really really really really thought That he was gonna get fired because whatever he's got it ain't working I'll tell you it's complete garbage. He doesn't know how to call a game He doesn't know how to game plan for a game
09:00 Jake: He's got he's got you know He's got this tim t-bow thing that that's lurking that he doesn't seem to know how to handle correctly either use him or don't... it's not working. I think he's one year and out if they don't turn this around. So talk me off the cliff. I can't right now. Oh you can't? You literally, I'm saying like I feel like this team is one team away, one game away. Basically the same way. They're one game away. No here's where they are. I looked at the schedule. This one game, they need to win. They can't be three and six. They need to win two out of their next three, but one of them has to be this one. So if you look at their schedule, they're in Seattle, they're in St. Louis, and then they're home for New England. They gotta win two of those three, preferably three of the three, but if you're gonna win two of them, you gotta win this one, and you a- the three., But you gotta go 2 and 3 in the next two. Justin: Or can we lose this one and win? No, it's down. Jake: It's over after that. You're done. 3 and 6, you're done. No, but what's the difference with winning against? It's a morality. It's morality. Morale? Morale. You're done. You're lost. 6 off, you know, you're still, you're still mathematically totally in there at 3 and 5, 3 and 6, the math starts looking different. And it's just a it's just a mentality thing you gotta win it. This is a must win. What about win Seattle, win St. Louis, lose New England. I think you're okay there because if you look at it. Five and six. If you look at the games after that Arizona, Jacksonville, Tennessee, San Diego, Buffalo. That's a run the table schedule. That's what you want. End of November. That is an absolute 5-0. It's there for the taking. You got it. You got to win this game. It's a big one Yeah, that's why when the picks come you're gonna be a little surprised All right. No. I'm not gonna be surprised because guess what I never pick against my team so I never surprise what I say I'm not gonna look ahead. All right, so pick your full game. Pick them all? I mean I don't even really remember. I tried to block it out as much as I could. I just... Special teams? I mean special teams fucked us in this game. A block pump for a touchdown and onside kick recovery? That's crap. I'm starting to think, and I know this is like, I've been a Sanchez guy pretty much. Like, I'm, I'm waver and I'm like, is this guy the guy who can get it done? I get it. No weapons. I get it getting down by 20 points. I get it whatever. But then again, I look across the NFL and I look at all these rookies, like a smattering of rookies picked out of the first and second rounds, some third grounds doing well. And you think they're doing well, but there's not. But it's, but so name them. Just, you know, give me the names.
12:01 Jake: So the five starting rookies this year. Wilson, Tan. So, okay, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, stop. We're gonna go one at a time. We're gonna go one at a time. Wait, wait, no, Wilson? We're gonna go one at a time. Wilson. So, Wilson has Marshawn Lynch in a running game. Yes. Marshawn Lynch is better than any jet on offense. Continue. Okay, uh, Tannehill. Tannehill has Reggie Bush. How are you? Better than any jet. Better than any jet on the field. And their offensive line is better than our offensive line. Okay. Uh, Tannehill. I don't know if Tannehill is necessarily playing any better than Sanchez. I think the Dolphins are playing better than the Jets. Well, that's clear, because they have four and three, or three and five. Um. on. Andrew Luck. No defense, he's phenomenal. He's better than Mark Sanders. RG3. No defense, he's phenomenal too. And they have a scheme that is beyond what we're capable of. Although phenomenal, but they've been not doing great. They have a scheme that is pretty hard to stop. What are the Redskins? Redskins are like... They're no better than we are. What was the last one? I They don't win. And they have Tremor just in who's better than any jet too. Now why is this guy, I mean Carolina Cam Newton, he's not winning, but he's got Steve Smith to throw the ball to. Andy Dalton, he's playing AJ Green to throw the ball to. A lot of these guys have somebody to throw the ball to. Looking back at the Peyton Manning sweepstakes. Yeah, he had it all over to do again. We sat there. We said no I rather stick with Sanchez this year. Yeah Will you rather hate me right now right? Yeah? Yeah. Yeah right now. I absolutely would I think we won although although Again, you might broke his neck, but he may he may still but Eric Decker and Demerius Thomas are both better than anybody The Jets have I guess, and I've said this before, and I said it at tailgates now, the thing that I'm most upset about, the T-bow thing, it's not T-bow, not whatever, it's just that what could we have done with whatever, even if it's a four cents, and it's still like we were eight million dollars worth of cap. Yeah, we're under the cap for a reason, though. For next year? Dorelle Rios. Okay fine, but now it's next year. It's that five million dollars. We spent on on T-bo what could we do with five million bucks? Well? We should have resigned random We threw money away with you know drew stan because we signed a backup Right then okay, okay, still hit us And this T-bow money is hitting us. Yep. So I think there's like three or four million dollars that we could have spent on somebody. And we know that these receivers, like these one year receiver fixes, like the classical burroses and the even... Look at LaRon Landry and Yeramai Abel, two of the better signings, there's that dollar figure. Right, three million bucks. Or one million, two million bucks for the year. I guess that's sort of my... it's not that... it's not the T-bow... Tebow by himself versus something. They could have another weapon or just some depth. And when I look at the people on the field every week I'm like this guy's barely out there. We spent money on him
15:00 Jake: So in some ways like if you made your bed then stick with it then freakin bench Sanchez Let's go for it. If you if you're gonna if this is what you think's gonna happen I mean you all be fired at the end of the season, but this is what you think's gonna happen Then just do it. Don't don't don't don't do it. Fuck me fuck me. They're not going to They'll have to go they'll have to go like three and seven to pull the plug I think I think if they lose the next two, I think you might have a t-bow Thanksgiving game That's the game if they lose the next two lose the next two you get T-bo Thanksgiving at T-bon Thanksgiving And then he probably went out he might cuz he because that one you could be a T-bo magic He will magic on these names got five easy ones and then you make the playoffs Somehow at nine and seven in the AC is perfectly possible. I still think we need to get to ten which is gonna be tough That's why I say we got to go two and one in the next three and you gotta win this one Gotta win it. All right, so let's move on. So fools. We're both picking I'm just saying the special teams I just think they did a piss poor job I will say that was the one this is gonna sound really on the one nice thing about sandy hitting Like literally 12 hours away from or whatever actually about 24 hours away from where we're cycle flipped No, it was that during that game, even though it was bad as it was and I was really pissed off and really whatever, I was more like my mind was spinning on like, what do I gotta get at home? I gotta park my car, I gotta get my apartment ready, I gotta charge batteries. I was literally starting to think like, we're gonna get hit by this big storm. And so like the game became smaller at that point. It came like, oh, it's just a game. Get your life settled. world. So at least maybe that was a nice thing of it. All right, let's get some news. Let's get some news. What do we got? Well, did you know that Rex Ryan was voted the most overrated coach in the league? Yes, and he beat Belichick by one. He beat him. And he made a big statement about it. He's like, I beat him, and finally he said that. How is Bill Belichick number two? Forget Rex being number one. How is Belichick overrated? Someone explain that to me. This is a most hated. Don't say read it. I know it was marked as most overrated. You just swipe out overrated and put hated. But it was voted on by the players. And players love Rex Ryan. The ones on his team. Not the ones on his team. Yeah, they would love to come play. People want to play for Rex Ryan. Yeah, well, I don't understand it. Line starts to the left. And Thiebaud was also voted one of the most overrated players. And he was joking. He joked. He's like, yeah, by the same people who voted me in the top 100 last year. So either on one or the other. Yeah, but he was like 99 at. 95. But still, Sanchez wasn't in there. A through F, I guess, with no E. Why did they never do E's?
18:00 Jake: It's like a D minus. It's a D minus, not an F, because they've shown real... There's been times when you're like, Oh, wait, what? Like, Buffalo, the Buffalo game and the Colts games. Like, Oh, there's the team that I thought was going to show up. That power running game, the high flying, throwing the touch, that two touchdowns to... Steven Hill like this is the team I thought it was gonna be but then way too often It's like can barely put a point. Yeah, really really sad struggle against good good defenses Yeah, I mean that's sort of what makes a good offense is that you can still do well against a good You know a good deep. I mean winning We're here at D minus D minus but here's my this my whole thing with this team. It's just the inconsistency 4828. Oh wow, 1027. Ooh, 2320. Okay, 0 to 34. What? 17 to 23. Oh, they stuck it in there. 34 to 9. They blew them out of the water. 2629, they stuck it in there. 9 to 30, they got blown out. Like, you just look at that. You're like, who are these teams? Which team is going to show up on any given Sunday? Is it the team that can blow out teams? Or is it the team that literally can't put up points? I don't know. I mean, they beat Indy, which turns out to be a pretty decent win. 35-9. That was a pretty decent win. I mean, that's a good team, Indy. I think this actually has more defense. They hung in there with Houston. They should have beaten the Pats. The only games where they played really bad was San Francisco and this last Miami game. No, the three games we played really bad. Pittsburgh, maybe the final score doesn't show how bad, but that's pretty bad. 10-27, 0-34, 9-30. 27-10 to Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh for their home opener is to be expected. I mean There'll be almost anyone in their home opener like that. Yeah, I just, I just expect this team to- I think they played three bad games. Yeah. But we don't win the games that we play, not bad. Yeah, they're used to doing it in New England. You gotta win those two games. Teams that are just better than us, they beat us. You win those two games and you can have one. Well, whatever. So you have a D- for offense? D- no, yeah, offense, D-. So I'm gonna give them slightly better, but not much. I'm just going D. straight D. Yeah, and they really get saved by three games. The Bills game was explosive, the Colts game they were able to do whatever they wanted, they were able to run, they played really well in that game, and I thought the Pats game, the offense played pretty well, and when we get to the... Yeah, the Pats D sucks. Well, they don't suck. Like the second worst defense and pass defense. I mean, they're just not a good defense. Yeah, well, they're still a good team. Still like to put up 26 points. It's like, OK. Anyway. You play who you play, and they played fairly well. I mean, you say the same thing about the Colts. The Colts suck. So what? They still played good on an offense. They put up 48 against Will the Bills suck. Give me some defense grades.
21:00 Jake: I'm going to go a little higher on the defense. I'm going to give them a C. The defense is really... I mean, as much as Holmes hurts the offense, Rebus kills the defense. And they've really hung in there and played pretty gutsy. The part I don't quite understand is how our rush defense has been so bad. Like they're they're one of the they're one of the worst rush defenses and I really I don't understand How the Jets from you know three four years ago all of a sudden become one of the worst Rush defenses in the league. I'm looking and they're really they're the fourth worst rush defense They give up 141 rushing yards a game And they're still a good passing defense even without the Relrivis. They're in the top 10 there. But they're they're giving up tons of yards on the ground. And I really don't understand. I'm sure he's just licking his lips. Oh, yeah. Oh, by the way, they've gotten a lot better over the last couple of weeks. Like they've they've I think they held the Miami running backs in check, which was what was so. Annoying about that game which was the way that we were allowing them to score like like their offense didn't really slice us up It was just block punt touchdown short field position turnover. Well, I think that's bullshit That's all just maybe the defense. I'm gonna give him a see if you look at the scores and again I'm looking down their win-loss here the games that we that we Lost so the New England game the Miami game Houston San Francisco Pittsburgh as I remember and again I'd have to remember like how many of those were like Special teams fuck ups, you know where or they you know this I just feel like there's a lot that the defense didn't give up That it was either a pick six, that it was like stuff that the defense didn't score. So I'd love to know, I'd love to have the stats, I'm sure I could find it. Give me the stats of what the defense actually gave up in points. And I bet you if you take that across, I think we get a much better thing. But here's the problem with that fun statement, it's exactly what happened to us last year. Which was the defense did okay, but we kept giving up also the shit. So what's your grade? C-minus. Alright, you're a little harder on them than I am. Usually it's the other way around. Fuck them. Oh, I can't wait for this one. Alright, so what is your turn? Special teams? Fail. Haha. It's a fucking fail. You can get one, you get your one, you know, punt return for a touchdown or kick return for a touchdown. Too many games are being decided by mistakes that are on special teams. And special teams should be something that we excel at and help us win games. And they're not. In fact, I don't think other than like maybe the Pats game and the like, you know, like, I just don't feel like they're helping us win games anymore. I used to think of the JET Special Teams as like, oh yeah, well, we're gonna, I say it in the keys of the castle, like we'll get them on Special Teams. Well, you know what we were doing? We were fucking up on Special Teams and getting
24:02 Jake: them get ahead or letting them do stuff that's like, keep them in the game. Yeah, I mean, to me it's like... I don't know, maybe it's just anger but f. Fuck it. I feel like they've been better than that. Like they've had, we've made plays on special teams too. The kicking game's been good. The punter's way better than the punter was last year. We've had three successful fake punts. We've had a kick return for touchdown. We've had punt return for touchdown. How many scores have we given up on special teams? I feel like we've given up less than we've gotten or about the same. Like we had the pump block for a touchdown, but I don't know if we've had a return. I think that's a failing. The New England return and that's those are the two touchdowns, but we've scored two touchdowns. So like you're only you're accentuating the negative. There were there are positive things with the special teams. The kickers are kicking well. We've had three successful fake puns. Give me another team in the league that's had two. Who the fuck knows? Yeah, who the fuck knows? But you know, three first downs on special teams, right? Fuck those. So I'm gonna give them a C minus. Alright, yeah, I'm I'm I'm just not feeling it. I'm feeling really that down by my way harder on the team than I am this crazy I Want to split this but I'm just gonna give him a D. I Actually, I'm gonna men now I'm gonna give him a D-minus the spirano just drags him down so hard That I feel like it's really hard to get anything above a d-minus because Sperano's like f-minus I really despise him. I I did not think I Would dislike the offensive coordinator more than I disliked Schottenheimer, but he's making Schottenheimer look like he was not the bad like he was adequate Like everyone's like Schottenheimer is terrible in retrospect. He was adequate This guy's terrible. No, no planning. Awful, awful scheming. Coming in trying to be a power run team, you're not. So guess what? Let's let's let's design some stuff that works off of that. Let's try and throw the ball a little more. Let's do some things that we're good at. I mean they... They tried things that they're not even good at. Like they try this power run game up the middle. They're not good at it. They try screens. They're not good at, they don't have a screen game. So don't do it, just don't run it. You have Curly who can do gadgets and gimmicks and they don't do anything with him. You know, I've seen Curly throw the ball. Last year we saw him throw the ball. He can throw the ball. The Wildcat has been a failure to the nth degree. Except for your weird stat that Sanchez does better right after the wildcat. Yeah, there's some weird things last last week when
27:00 Jake: Or two weeks in the Miami game when Tebow came in but didn't when Tebow didn't was in the game But was lined up as a receiver Sanchez was four for four. Yeah, that's too small. It's too small. It's just a weird like okay. Here's a decoy I mean, he's not gonna throw in the ball. So you're saying the one time. Yeah, the one time you threw in the ball He hit him in the face He's probably trying to knock him out, give him a concussion, like get off the fucking field. I'm giving him like, I don't feel like in the minus, but maybe if I'm giving specialty, I don't know, maybe D. I didn't even mention the defense, like I don't really feel like they've done a great job either of this rushing bullshit has gotta stop. We have the players. We have the guys. You can't tell me that that defensive line and those linebackers shouldn't be They should not be giving up 140 yards a game on the ground. Nope. I mean you look at these these numbers I mean there are teams. I mean the fucking Bucks are giving up 77 yards a game on the ground But is that like also they're being thrown on I thought they are being thrown on there's I mean there's there's teams that are you know Like the box are definitely just being thrown on then there's good teams like the Texans who are not being thrown on and not being Run, oh, that's what's that's what's called a good defense. Yeah, and the Niners who are Nobody's doing anything against the Niners You know, yeah at all yeah, or you know, you just go with yards per game and you know The Steelers the Niners the Texans Seahawks guess what ladies and gentlemen those top four teams in yards per game After this coming week will have played them all hmm that that sort of leads into why we're not looking so great Maybe on on offense, but we played the Steelers. We've played the Niners. We've played the Texans We lost our about about to play the Seahawks. Yeah. All right. Let's talk. I'm giving D my so overall but overall I just think that the Jets are they're just disappointing me on where I thought they'd be I thought they'd bounce back from last year Yeah, I really thought they were even though we thought that we thought I think in pre whatever we said I think you had them at that event for and for and for right now I think I probably have the many four four five and Five and three right now. So it's not like we can we thought they were gonna be dominating We definitely see them winning some of these extra games. So it was really just this dolphins game I that was for me just a real shocker. I really thought they were gonna come out and really smack the dolphins Yeah, two in the pink Haha, all right. Let's let's talk about some midseason playing time stats. Yeah, I love this rich Simini who I don't really care for nice. He can be the fuck you of the week But he does do these which but he does these playing time things which I find fascinating So we'll go with the defense first the playing time just some standouts Muhammad Wilkerson is playing a ton on the defensive line. He's playing 83% of the snaps most by bar of anybody. Oddly enough, Quentin Copals is only at 53% of the snaps. So coming into the year,
30:05 Jake: you know, you draft this guy, you love him, you talk about how great he is in the preseason, now he's gonna be a starter and this and that. And meanwhile, DeVito is playing more than him. Puah and Ellis have both been hurt, so we've been hurt there and that even leads to why Coppola says he played more than he was. Then probably he even would he'd probably be under 50% But don't you think that that's what they wanted to do for the first year bring him in and just use them for I don't know They didn't do that with Wilkerson Wilkerson played From game one last year starting it it's starting to look bad on tan and bound where all the guys that were picked after Copels that were at the same position are playing better than him that includes the guy in the Bears whose name escapes me. That includes Chandler Jones on the Pats who's got like six sacks. That includes the guy on Courtney Upshaw on San Diego who's on one of the top defenses this year. Same position that like outside linebacker defensive end. Yeah, we'll see. We've got a couple years and we'll see how that curves out. We also got the rest of the season. Maybe we can sack Ghelton pretty much. Maybe. Linebacker is really interesting because you got David Harris who's just... I mean he's played 99% of the snaps. Yeah, he's just always on the field. And oddly enough, Calvin Pace played 94. He's always heard and he's just... playing. I don't think he's any good anymore. No, he had a sack last game didn't he? Yeah, he did. He's the one who knocked Tana Hill out of the game. But I feel like this might be his last year. Bart Scott snaps her way down. He's hurt and I think that's purposely being done at this point. Tamara Davis is starting to play for him. Yep. A little bit more. sideline to sideline Bart Scott's more you know straight ahead type of guy so a little difference there and then one that's just shocking is Aaron Maben 21% of snaps he's barely playing guys barely playing I understand that you can't get him out there in the third down package to rush the passer hmm 21% I don't get it. Seems low. Yeah, it doesn't really make any sense to me. Even if third down package, wouldn't third down package be 33% if he was in every third down? Well, no. No, that would be. Not really. No. It would still work. You don't always have third downs. Then there you go. So 21% could be, if he was in every third down, wouldn't that be 20%, 25%? I guess, but he played so well last year, he'd think he'd be in a little more often. Yeah, I don't know. Especially Brian Tom. Maybe his coverage sucks, or his. Well, Brian Thomas missed. You know, a couple games, that's that spot. Gar McIntyre was playing, you know, in the secondary, Jeremiah Bell, the Iron Man, he's played 100% of all. He's played every snap. 100% 100% 560 snaps. Wow. And Landry 96%. Those are good pickups. Yeah. Good one year, though. Remember, Flangerie plays this whole season and he's playing he's playing pretty well. He's gonna want a contract
33:02 Jake: We didn't give him a whole lot of money contract The sad part here is Reavis only 17% and it's just gonna keep going down lower lower lower You know and Joe McKnight 1% Antonio Allen 4% who's now he was cut he's on the practice squad moving to the offense Mark Sanchez 95% of all snaps so he is actually being taken off the field at times but not all the time because he goes in on 11% so they're in there together and overlapping 6% I guess. That's kind of interesting. Sean Green 59% Blah-Powell 29% Lex Hilliard 19% Wow, that's about it. That's actually at 90%. That makes you play two games. Yeah, John Connor, John Connor 10%. No, Lex Hilliard has 103 snaps, so that's probably three games worth for a fullback. John Connor, 52 snaps, 10%. That's probably about two games. That's our guy who's been on the field the most Jeremy curly 58% This really hurts, you know, I'll say Antonio Holmes 35% Stephen Hill 46% injuries injuries injuries, you know, Chas Schillens is your second He's played the second most snaps. That's that's no good It's a problem Jeremy Curley's one and Chas Schillens is two two guys who that's why other people couldn't name That is why some of these rookies looking a little better than our friend Mark Sanchez because they have Reggie Wayne they have AJ Green they have Steve Smith they have guys to throw the ball to. This guy's got Jeremy Curley and Chas Schillen. People don't even know who they are. And Jason Smith and Steven Smith. They're just sitting the Hill brothers. They're just sitting on the waiver wire. That's Jason Smith and Steven Smith. Yeah, he said Smith. We do have a Jason. He's our jumbo package offensive line. Yes, number 63, pointing forward rule. Yeah. So he's playing 26% of all snaps. Jason Smith is, by the way. At tight end, Teller's been hurt. We'll move to the offensive line, where generally it's pretty static. D-Brick, 100%, Brandon Moore, 100%. Austin Howard, surprise, right tackle, 100%. mangold missed like six or seven snaps so he's at 99% and then the interesting uh spot here is that left guard slauson dukas it's about 75-25 dukas is playing about 25 of the snaps at left guard so there I mean, they've been doing this all year. They've been given, they're just... Go ahead, Dukas, you're in there. I'd love the breakdown. I really wanna see... Do we score when Dukas is on the field? Do we run better when he's on the field? Has he given up sacks? I mean, I'm sure that the Jets have the numbers.
36:01 Jake: Yeah, why wouldn't they? So this should either go up or down, because either they're doing better or worse. Or maybe it just doesn't make any difference. Off playing Speaking of playing we got some guys coming back off injury. Okay, bye week. I like to hear it So Ellis is practicing Powell is practicing. I like somehow I just I feel like Powell was like That's the thing we need that guy a healthy Powell and a healthy McKnight I'd love to see these guys get more involved because they can get to the edge You want to run a screen run it with Joe McKnight It looks like Eric Smith's coming back, which is why Antonio Allen went to the practice squad, if he clears waivers. I don't know if that's happened yet. Bart Scott is practicing and Mikey back. I feel like he'll be back. I don't know how much he'll split with Davis. It might be a 50-50 type of thing. He certainly won't be playing on 3rd downs. and McKnight is not practicing but that's Par for the court. He said he hasn't really been practicing, but he's been playing although in the last game He got hurt again. He keeps re-injuring it. So I don't know why they keep throwing him out there Gates, actually look like he could return kicks Fine to me. Yeah, so all right. So you put this question on here. Yeah, got it Throw it up there. You just snuck this right in there. This is the question of the well So the question was going around all those players have been talking about it. We're gonna talk about it Jet to playoff team? I gave you the recipe Okay, gotta win this week and then one of the next two and we got we got cupcakes the last five weeks This is not like last year where we had three hard games at the end of the season You know, we were eight and five and we're like, oh Alright, one of these but they're all against like really good team Giants the Eagles with the big big back And the fins which never So I'll I'll throw it out there are the Jets a play one word answer Yes. I think the Jets, it depends again, the one thing they've got to solve for one thing, one word. They solve for one word, they are a play of teams.
39:01 Jake: They don't solve for the one word. The word is not Debo. It's not injuries. It's consistency. This team is completely inconsistent and so badly. Again, you even talked about it on special teams. We either are running back kickoffs and touchdowns, right, in the same game, or kickoffs and punts, or blocking punts, we're doing or either do dominating, or we're getting our asses handed to us. We need to be a consistent team. Consistent teams win consistently. Inconsistent teams win a few, right, because they get they get hot and they do a big game, but then they inconsistently lose games that they should win or ones that you know get down by too much. This game is about it. And I don't know. I mean, I honestly, as a huge Jeff fan, I can't look at this team and say, where is the inconsistency coming from? Is it the coaching staff? Is it the injuries? Is it the, you know, is it the players, the profile? Is it the stadium? Is it the wind? Is it Sandy? I don't know. It seems like, again, week in and week out, which Jeff team is going to show up? Is it going to show up this dominating team? that looks like it can really make a run? Or is it this team that just gets his ass fucking handed to it and it's like, who are you and why are you on the field and can I get my Jets back? I think the Jets have the chance I chance to make the playoffs, but you're right, this needs to be, you need to show and this could be the week of showing. No, this is it. This is it. It's kind of like that that that adage about fantasy football. You can't win it with your first round pick, but you certainly can lose it with your first round pick. You can't get to the playoffs with this game here, but you can certainly, certainly fall out with this game here. Speaking of the play, that's called the segue. Speaking of the play, let's talk about the Jack Kingdom fantasy football league now that we're. We're a little over halfway through. Yeah, yeah, and look at the standings. Let's look at the standings. Looks like you are, uh, looks like you are in second place. Nice. Really? Yeah, you are. You think I'm in second place? Well, you are. You're in first place in your division, but you are in second place. No, I'm in first place overall. No, you are not. Justin: Yeah, why not? Jake: Because the Southwest homers are ahead of you. Oh, I beat them though. I'll hit the projected playoff bracket link and you will see the seedings. You are not number one. You are number two. I believe this league probably goes by point scored. Okay, so if you look at that the Southwest homers have 907 points scored and you have 785. That's right. I win old-fashioned I win my defense. You know, you know, it's a little disappointing here. I'm I'm I'm still in the thick things I'm in I'm in I have one I have more points and more points again the fourth see and I've lost to us two more games I've got the second most points scored in the whole entire league. There's only two people over 800
42:04 Jake: I'm at 881 and the Southwest homers are at 907. Everyone else is under 800. Everyone else is in the 700s. And points against. I've had the most points against I. You know what? You know what? In the whole league. You know what? You're probably behind. That's okay. I just need to make the playoffs. All I need to do is make... the playoffs. So four people go to the playoffs. That's it. Just four. Alright remember for all you listeners and fans put your jets back in. Put your jets back in. I had to put my... So who'd you put in? I always swap in. So again my theory on this one this is the fantasy league that we play with our listeners fans the podcast where we did an ESPN 10 10 team standard scoring. But the only rule is you have to have a jet on your active roster at all times. So there's theories like- You must start him. You must start him. So you might, so do either- Or her. Or her. Do either, you know, one of the theories was get the best one and throw them on there. So a lot of people went for the jet D. Jets D, San Antonio home, Sean Green. By the way, if you did any of those, you're probably losing at this point. Probably not doing well. I went for the other one, which is- I'm just gonna pick some dude and throw some dude into the spot, the least painful spot, meaning you don't usually win or lose your league by your tight end spot. Yeah, maybe if you had Gronk last year you did well. So I'm like, I throw in Conrad Ruland every week in tight end. He scores, he scored maybe a point for me, but I've also won seven games, so I'm okay. I go with Curly. Yeah, I think I made a good draft pick. It's okay. He's pretty good Not I wouldn't but I wouldn't sit you know Brandon Marshall for him. No, I you know I I sit Dwayne bow or Antonio Brown is not playing this week for him, right? You know, I I think I'm alright with curly If ever he were to get injured, I'm not sure what I would do. That's the problem. I'd probably have to go pick up a crappy jet and play him at tight end or something. And this week I have... I feel like Tim Chiboh should... qualify at any position. I have him, I'm a roster, it's not fair that I have him. I can only play him this quarterback, I think it's total and fair. That's total bullshit, he lines up everywhere. I feel like I should have been able to play him at halfback or flex, right? I actually am, the line is minus, it's pick me to not win this league. Oh, what's my preview? I am playing Matty. the action part slides and it has it has us really tied it has him beating me 123 to 122 but we know this league 123 is a monster week in this league yeah I'm generally more in the 80s I mean you see that we've played nine weeks and only one person is averaging more than a hundred right and I'm averaging just right under a hundred Nobody's scoring 123 unless you're going, you know, seriously nuts
45:00 Jake: So we'll see and he's got Nick folk. Yeah, so next year we've already decided. I think we're gonna make new rules Well, we'll decide in the offseason But I think we might do new rules and make it so you can't because I heard this from another Similar to like league you will not be able to start Not only do you have to start a jet, but you will not be able to start, and we'll probably pick our arch rivals, the Patriots, you will not be able to roster a Patriot. Yeah, no Tom Brady, no Gronkowski, no Tom, no Steven Ridley, no Hernandez, no Welker. All right, so good luck this week. Remember to put your jets back. Let's get over to the Where do you want to go? Jack King will pick them. Yeah, let's do some pick them. We'll find out where we are in our league here. It looks like you're in first. Oh! What? You're in first by one. What? You're leading the thing by one. Alright, I'll get you this week. Wait, wait, I'm sorry. Did you not start off this league ahead of me? You're so annoying. Did I have not, have I not caught up and passed you like I said I would? It's how you finish. Wait a second. Alright. Did I not, did I not predict that? Whoa. So, We have seven weeks to go. So let's get into this week. We pick every game. Let's go because you know what I'm saying? What are you doing? I'm looking at our weekly performance. You just love gloating. I'm gloating. You're such a little faggot. I'm just nice and consistent. Gloating. You're gloating. Look at you with your big 12 to start those season. I was a big 12. I'm the win, yeah. And now you're a 12. Where am I? You're a point behind. One point behind. Yeah, I was six behind you. I'll make it up this week. I'll make it up this week. In the first place, just like last week. Alright, so every week we pick every game against the spreads. We do not pick the AFC East as we talk about these games, because we save those for later in the throne picks. We have one starting in two hours. So we have a game starting very soon. Yes, you're right. Three hours from now, because we're recording this on a Thursday, so we actually have final lines. Usually we're on Wednesday lines. We have final lines. Although it doesn't look like too many games have shifted this year. No, they're very very consistent. So let's start. Starting off tonight. Yet another crappy Thursday night game. No, I'm actually excited about this game. Because I have players in both games. The only reason why anyone watches these Thursday night games is fantasy. That's fine. Because they're just garbage. I don't know, I actually think it's, one side of this is garbage, but the other side I think, we come off the, the, Wait a minute, you scheduled this game in the beginning of the year, and you think this is gonna be a good game? No, but I'm saying now with Andrew Locke, number one draft pick, prime time, he's blowing it up, he's doing great through a 440 yards or something last week, like, hey, this is kind of an interesting day. All right, cool, go on the road three days later and see if you can do it again. I mean, this is, I guess Jacksonville. This is, This is crap. I mean, this is completely- Well, they get the last pick of the litter. They literally get the last pick. This is completely counter to anything that the NFL is like, you know, talking about. So what are you saying? You're saying that you don't mind the Thursday Night Games, but they need to be- they need to be the third pick, not the last pick. Either make them good games or don't play them. I'm almost- I'm almost after- I'm almost at the position-
48:03 Jake: They're getting Jets Patriots. Well, Thanksgiving, I feel like they get to choose. Okay. But... I feel as though this is a hypocritical stance by the NFL even having these games because you've got one side talking about player safety and then you've got another side where it's like you're letting these guys play all these games on Thursdays where you might have teams playing You know, Sunday and then Thursday and then again the next, you know, Monday, like you've got, I think the Ravens played like four games in 17 days this year. Right. And that's not, that's not healthy. A football game every four days. That's not healthy. That's how you get concussions. Broken legs and all that stuff. Yeah, why do you think Ray Lewis out for the year? He tore a muscle. He played four games in 17 days. He's old. You can't do that. Yeah, all right Let's talk about the shit football, but it's almost getting too much I could do without Thursday football I could do without it for the whole season just you know start it up We with with Thanksgiving week and have it go from there. That was fine I could even do with that and let them pick better games. Yeah, Monday night sucks and Thursday night sucks I mean they are shit games. This week. The only games that are that are the only prime time games is Sunday. Sunday is the good game Thursday and Thursday and Monday are complete garbage. Yeah every week Well, next week, San Francisco, Chicago, great game. On Monday night? Yep. That is a good one. And Buffalo, Miami is the Thursday night. That's not a great game. Well, for us it is. Yeah, it's fun for us. But, I mean, that's not a good game. Well, who's us? We're jet fans. That's the same as this game, Indy Jacksonville. It's the two teams in the same division that... Nobody really gives a shit about well, this is why the NFL pushes fantasy because even though whatever it's it's a kind of a Sorry, let's get to this. Great. So indies on the road. Yep in Jacksonville giving three points I Don't even know what to pick here Indie I just worry about the going on the road after that really emotional win There's there's a letdown factor here to me built-in and to be favored Give me Jacksonville. Nah, I'm gonna take Indy. I just don't believe in Jacksonville at all. No M.G.D., no good quarterback. I don't know, I just don't believe in them at all. I don't think Indy's gonna light it up like they did last week, but this could be a 24-20 game. I remember Chuck Pagano's not sitting up in them. He's not there. So... I think I feel like, you know, luck's getting a little bit of luck being a lady tonight, and I think he wins by more than three points. I'll take Indy. Okay. The Giants, who just lost to Pittsburgh at home, go on the road to Cincinnati and are favored by four.
51:01 Jake: So the Giants are favored on the road by four points. What did Cincinnati do last week? They They lost to Green Bay. Yeah, the Green Bay who they play Cincinnati. I don't remember. No, oh man They lost to Versus Denver. Well, Denver. That's right. It was close though at home. I tweet 31. Yeah Maybe the Giants on the rebound on the road. They play better on the road anyway. Totally think the Giants will win. Don't think the Giants. I think the Dalton AJ Green thing, it's dangerous. Very dangerous. They can come back. So like, well, I think that the, and we watch what, they watched, I watched that game, but Wallace just run crazy over them. One catch, he just runs, he did it. He pulled a cruise on them, by the way. He did. Mike Wallace pulled a cruise on the Giants. Right. I think I'm hoping for a bounce back for Eli, I got him another league, but I don't think the Giants are gonna win by like more than four points. I think I'll pick, I think I'll pick Giants to win, but I think I'll pick the Bengals to cover. So you're picking Cincinnati. I'll pick Cincinnati. So already we're opposite on the first two. All right, two more, two up on you. Let's go Detroit in Minnesota. So Minnesota is going one way, Detroit's going the other, Detroit's favored on the road by two, I like Detroit. I don't like Detroit on the road at Minnesota. Minnesota is Mr. Dinnissota. They're going the wrong way. Huh? They're going opposite. They're going the wrong way. And Percy Harvin got hurt. Alright, I still believe in Peterson. There's a quarterback that's not playing that well. Christian Ponder, second year guy. Second year guy, not first year guy. He's got, well, named Dalton. Not my second year guys, you know, you got Christian Ponder out there and he's got Percy Harvin and Adrian Peterson. Yeah, not playing very well. I think Minnesota. Wow, we're three. There you go. Well, we haven't picked there's two games here that we skipped because they're AFC East games too. So this is a fun one Atlanta in New Orleans Atlanta a lot of road favorites here Atlanta is favored by two and a half in New Orleans. Atlanta's got to lose at some point and I think this is the week. So give me New Orleans at home as an underdog. I feel like Atlanta is the most complete team at this point. Maybe they're not winning by a lot though. They're not blowing anyone out. No, but they they're just playing smart and they've got enough on both sides. They got enough on the running side and enough on the receiving side. And then they got a defense that's kind of showing up when they need to. I just don't believe, you know, with sprawls out, I feel like that takes away one of the big weapons of of the Saints. Saints at home are tough. I can see again, I still feel like the Saints are just this is going to be a crazy scoring game. We have a lot of points. I hope so. A lot of points. I'll take Atlanta. Wow, okay. Well the Saints are 3 and 5, so they're not completely out of it yet. So I think they're gonna... I don't think they're completely out yet.
54:01 Jake: Remember, they've owned that division, so they're gonna put it... They're gonna give it to Atlanta. So Tampa hosting San Diego. That's German for sucking well or sooner should be fire. Well vagina in the week So Tampa's home their favorite by three You know San Diego I don't trust them. I don't really trust Tampa either. This is this should be like a pickle Well, is this a Doug Martin crazy? I don't think so. I think San Diego has a pretty good defense I actually have a better defense than yeah, so I don't I don't think so. I I feel like You know, San Diego could pull this out, but then again, they have Norv. I'm going to just take the home team in Tampa. I'm going to straight three San Diego. Wow. We're going completely. Pulling out. We are either going to. Well, you know, it's going to happen. We're both just going to go halfsies like we're just going to like half of these are going to go one way, half are going to go the other or one or one of us will have a crazy week. That's true. All right. Uh, Denver. Traveling to Carolina and another road favorite, Denver favored by four. I love me some Peyton Manning in this game. Give me Denver. I will take Denver's too. I don't believe in Carolina. They suck. They suck and I can't wait to play. We don't wanna play them. I wish we were playing them. thing to say. Last one o'clock game is... Stop punching the one o'clock. Oh really? Get some four o'clock games out there. I don't understand this. Going to three four o'clock games this week. That's terrible. Um... Baltimore is home. They're playing Oakland. Four actually. No. No, there's only three uh Baltimore's home. They're playing Oakland Baltimore favored by seven and a half. I really don't like that half That half is pissing me off if it was seven I'd be all on Baltimore. I just don't know if they have The the the defense to completely like put a game away because I do believe they'll be leading this game by 14 points at some point during the game or 10 points first 10 yeah like they'll be up by 10 or 14 something's gonna happen it's a question of can they stay up like that and Oakland with no running backs at all And Baltimore, that's like their weak spot is against the run. I'm going to take Baltimore at home, even though they're laying seven and a half. Yeah, I think Baltimore at home, they're really tough at home still. I could just see them just, I think this gets up really high and then Charles Spalwell decides to throw it and he just starts turning the picks. Ed Reed, two picks. And picks. Ed Reed's going to score a touchdown in this game. Write it down. All right, big game at 4.25. So we are the 405 game. There are only three games. There are three games at four o'clock. They're not even four anymore. There's one at 405, that's us. We'll talk about that later.
57:01 Jake: And then there's two games at 425. We have Dallas in Philly. Dallas is favored on the road and that I don't even care what the line is Dallas favored on the road by anything I'm taking the home team. So I'm taking Philly Getting one and a half. How do you trust Dallas on the road getting you know, why this is a week This is the week of the Tony Romo is the worst player on the planet Tony Romo got he had his chance last week They played tough against Arizona This is the week that you'll see it, and I think it'll be one of those, oh, we're all wrong about him. I think Dallas is going to just... I think it'll be a high-scoring game, and I think Dallas will win by a lot. I can't trust them on the road giving points to Philly. I just don't. All right. It's one and a half minutes. Yeah, but still favored. I mean, if you think about it, that's four and a half. I mean, they're on the road. Right, they also have a good pass rush. How many times could Vic get sacked and fumble this week? I mean, they know each other very well, so it's gonna... I don't feel like... And he won't use McCoy like he does, and they'll... Yeah, I don't know. I feel like... I don't think Dallas should be favored on the road against anybody. All right, moving right along, we have San Francisco hosting St. Louis. It's a good game San Francisco is giving 11 and a half coming off their by against st. Louis Who's also coming off their by is that is that true? Yeah, cuz they got their by after London, right? So they're both coming off their by yep. I Feel like that spread is right on Like that's a dead-on 11 like 13 points. I'm just gonna take the points. I'm gonna take st. Louis Yeah, I'm taking st. Louis. I don't think saying I don't think San Francisco is With Alex Smith or whatever. They're not a team that then just puts the hurt to you I don't know I feel like don't the land they can but I don't think they just go up and up and up and up They're the the hard part about Yeah, they'll keep going but the hard part about San Francisco is If they get up on you, they just can't come back. Well, they'll just keep running and running. You can't come back. They just hold onto the ball and they have a great punter. They'll pin you inside the 10. Like they'll do running three now. And then you can't go 90 yards on them. You can't come back on them. Like if you get down by 10, it's kind of over. San Francisco is a team that I want them to be. Yeah, when I grow up I want to be said I thought we were gonna be them We were on our way to be in this team like what happened? All right game a week to me Sunday night, we got Chicago at home hosting Houston Chicago getting no respect on a primetime game 7-1 in the tougher conference In the tougher division against Houston and only given one point Chicago best bet Just check just change my pick looking at it. I just changed in Chicago. I agree and no respect at home No, really in the NFC being seven and one
1:00:02 Jake: Nope only give him one cutler Marshall things. He's been working out pretty well. It worked in Denver. Yeah It's working pretty well in Chicago Those guys, they love each other R out now, to This is demolition. This is demolition time. This has 35.6 written all over it. Pittsburgh is, hosting Kansas City. Kansas City has to play Matt Castle again. Because Matt Castle... Has to play Matt Castle. The guy they traded for, spent all the money with. Yeah. They have to play him. Because they can't play Brady Quinn. There are other better options. Except not even a better option. I mean, does anyone think this is gonna be remotely close? Pittsburgh's gonna cream them. They're giving 12 and a half. I got him 35-6. He's gotta pick the score in this game. That's the score I put into this thing. Uh, I put 23-9. Uh, so yeah, I... Who are you picking? I think I'm picking Pittsburgh. Do the math quick. Alright. No, I think... Alright, let's, uh... Flip over and do some AFC East picks. How'd we do last week? We didn't last week we didn't plan out why I'm doing how we do like before Well the week before we had New England We both had New England beating st. Louis and we both had the Jets beating Miami. So we were both one-on-one We suck. All right this week this week. We have an AFC East matchup. We have Buffalo in New England at one o'clock and and I've liked this year I've been liking to give you the guys the spread so New England here is favored by 11 so in the actual picks where I actually picked the score I'm picking New England to win by more than 11 therefore I'm picking New England in the pick'em I got New England winning 34-17 you're picking with your heart here aren't you? No, I'm picking with this. Do you the score the last time these two played? No, what was it? It was like 39-36 or something. It was some high blowing game. Let me just go pick that up for you. Yeah, I'll pick, you pick your score. Alright, yeah, so I think this will just be, I feel like New England will come out ahead, but New England doesn't have very good defense, it's gonna be back and forth. I think New England will have the game the whole way. Do you want to know what the score of the game was the last time they played? Twelve to twelve. It was 52-28. Exactly. No. 52-28. I think Buffalo led in that game at one point. Oh yeah. They were up like 21-0. Yeah. So that's where I think this... Can they score one more touchdown? You're not really even close to the range of what the last game says. Well, I'm sure your logic is a little flawed. No, my logic is ahead of yours. .,. and the. the a I think New England's going to score more, and I think Buffalo's going to score more. So I think Buffalo's going to lose.
1:03:02 Jake: The Pats won by like 30 points last time. You think they'll win by nine this time. Yeah. Oh, okay. I see Yeah, okay. So 39 30 I'm calling or a Okay, nothing would be happier for Buffalo to pull Yeah, do it Buffalo. Let's go Buffalo. Ah Right. We are moving right along to Miami who's hosting Tennessee Miami's favored in this game by six points because Tennessee sucks and Miami is looking pretty decent. Not sure who the starting quarterback is gonna be. I think it's gonna be Tannehill and I think it's gonna also remain Hasselbeck even though they played really bad last week in Chicago. They got crushed. I like Miami in this game, unfortunately. Although Tennessee, Tennessee is a weird team. Let me, I don't know exactly, I'm just gonna open this up real quick. Tennessee is a really odd team. So Tennessee, they lost to New England, they lost to San Diego, they beat Detroit, okay? They scored 44 points against Detroit. They beat Pittsburgh. this year. So this is a team that has, you know, they've beaten some teams. They beat Pittsburgh. But I still, you know, I still don't like them in this game. I don't like them to cover. Like Miami, 20 to 9. I think we both are on pretty much the same wavelength here. Yeah, I mean, Miami's D, their run D has been pretty good. Really good. Their past D has been pretty bad. Well, that kind of matches up perfectly with this. I don't think they have a good passing game and the run game with Chris Johnson I'm like which Chris Johnson is gonna show up. I just don't think that Tennessee is really gonna be able to get anything going Chris Johnson's been doing fairly well recently, but it doesn't really garbage time last. Yeah, it's complete garbage Like it doesn't actually matter Like some of the the yards that he's racked up over the last couple weeks cuz I mean, you know against Chicago he ran for a buck 44 but I don't I don't see how that really you know helped them do anything but lose 51 to like 20 so all right game of the century game of the millennium game of the millennium near jets near jets all the way across the country Last time we were there was the last time we saw Leon in a Jets jersey. We'll see him in the other one this time. It's also... I think that was the collapse of the Jets on the F.A.R.B. season. This started with this game. This was Mangini's last stand. He threw two picks in the game. One was returned for a touchdown. Was that true or was this a Rex Ryan game?
1:06:08 Jake: Couldn't Now it came out, the Farr was hurt, whatever. He was being an asshole. He was being an asshole, but this game was the game that I remember being like, you know, we have a shot, let's go. And he just started throwing picks like old Farr and we just couldn't recover. So Seattle, one of the toughest places to play in the league. They are 4-0 at home this year, 1-4 on the road, which shows kind of what kind of team they are. They're not really... We rank these places to play. Baltimore Pittsburgh, Seattle Are we playing at night or during the day? Is that really a matter? Yeah, it does At night all of them Well, I've only experienced one you've experienced two God, Baltimore is tough. Is Ray Lewis playing or not? Doesn't matter. What about players? All indications from what I understand and from what I've seen and witnessed, Seattle's the toughest place to play. Because of the weather, the wetness, the loudness. The fans are just so loud. They really believe, this is what irks me a little bit about Jets fans, is that Seattle fans... Call themselves the 12th man, man. They raise a flag before the game right ceremoniously 12th, man, they are up and loud and cause offenses to False start they cause a threat they track them they track every year you're right - they have another one for the for the fans, right and You go to a jet game, and it's you know Third down people sometimes get up and yell and cheer and some people get you know Yell that yell that for standing like hey down in front. Hey asshole. It's we're on defense stand up No down in front you up up it up and back. That's what it should be up in the back Down in front. Or like when I was in Pittsburgh. I'm not at a baseball game. Or when I was in Pittsburgh or when we went to New England during that playoff game. We didn't sit. No one sat. No. We stood for three hours. Three hours. Standing. You know when you sat? Half time. Half time. And like during TV timeouts. Just to get a rest. I don't remember sitting. Just to get a rest. No, you go to the bathroom. You want a break? Go to the bathroom. Yeah, nobody sat. that. No one's there. So it irks me a little that at Check Games we don't have this atmosphere. Go to Miami? No one's in the stadium. No one's there. No one's sitting or standing. They're not sitting or standing. They're in the club. They're in the club. They're drinking. They're dancing with J-Lo. So this is a tough, tough, tough game. We had the bye week to prepare for it. It's probably a good thing. I don't know Rex Ryan's record off the bye. I don't even care to look it up. I feel like they're going to be prepared for this game.
1:09:03 Jake: The last time we had time to prepare for a game. You know, where we didn't play the week before was week one where we looked our best. Okay. On offense, we looked the most complete. We had a real game plan. We were throwing the ball around. We ran the ball well. We had like a flea flicker. They pulled out that... Just going back to the coaching, you know, thing that we did earlier with the grading. Tony Sperano broke out a flea flicker in a game that we had already won Yeah, why not save a flea flicker for a game you need it in Like just dumb shit like that just annoying But the last time we had you know more than a week to prepare for a game You mean else we had a whole season off season Oh, you know they played the preseason and then they they prepared for more than a week for the game We've had now two weeks to prepare for this game. They came out and played a very complete game So I'm holding onto that and I'm holding onto that and I'm thinking that they have the Moxie. You know, you can say Sanchez isn't ready for Seattle. Well, guess what? This is fourth year in the league. He's played on the road in the playoffs in New England and won. He's played on the road in the playoffs and won in crazy ass places before. CNC. I was there. It was cold. Indie in a dome. Right. And what was the last place? New England. New England was for San Diego, which isn't really that raucous. But, you know, he's played in the it's not like he hasn't ever played. Can we just wake him up in the morning and be like, it's playoffs. Justin: We're in the playoffs. We're on the road. Jake: You got a one and that's what this game is. Oh, good. So that actually gives me some. Hope if he thinks it's the playoffs. And the second thing I'll say, you know, is. I feel like the defense is starting to come around. I feel like this week off is going to help. They're going to be prepared. They're going to be ready to face the rushing attack. Because if you can, it's kind of like very similar. Seattle's sitting there saying, let's make Mark Sanchez beat us. And I'm sitting here saying let's make Russell Wilson beat us. Let's make this let's not let Sean Lynch make this fourth round pick this year rookie beat us for us with no receivers No, we're like their receivers are as bad as ours golden tates My favorite golden tate and Sydney Rice are probably better than our tandem, but not by a whole lot I mean, March on Lynch is their offense. So let's make him beat us. Someone forget to bring the skills. Let let's make. Yeah, Let's make Russell Wilson beat us. Just like they're saying. Let's make Mark Sanchez beat us. Let's not give up 100 yards rushing in the first half. Let's get some three and outs. Let's get our rhythm going. We need to play with the lead in that place. We can't play from behind. and a huge, huge key to the castle is their edge rushers against our defensive line.
1:12:08 Jake: Because they have Ervin the rookie and Clemens off the edge on third down and they're scary. They're good. They get to the quarterback. So let's protect Sanchez. Let's give him some time. Let's get into third and fours, not third and eights. Because we ran the ball up the middle on first and ten and... Ran the ball up the middle on second and ten. Let's get to some third and fours where the pass rush can't be so aggressive. and you know, let's get get Keller involved in that type of game and I think we'll be just fine. I've got us winning in close one, low scoring, 16-13. I like where you're going with this. I got two keys to the castle. Two? Two, I'm bringing two. Like the lower lock and the upper lock? One on offense, one on defense, one to bolt. One to the Chastity belt, one to the whatever. The Vagine? The Vagine. First of all, they're gonna run, and they're gonna run on us. So I'm gonna say something I don't even believe in, in a theory of football or a theory of defense. Ben, don't break. There's a theory of defense that you let them go between the 20s, but then you... It's the Bill Belichick. Then you hold up, and you shore up at the 20s, and you don't let them get in the end zone. Because I think that, as you said, I don't feel like Russell Wilson's gonna pick us apart in the end zone like Tom Brady would, right? I feel like if we can get them, if we can stop them, we know what you're gonna do. We can hold them, you know, to field goals. Because I feel like this is a hold in the field goals type of game. That's on the defense. Bend, don't break. You know what I'll add to your key there? In the bend, don't break. One of the things that Marshawn Lynch is really great at, one of the things that the Jets have been really bad at this year, is his ability to break tackles or gain yards after first contact, and our ability to actually tackle. Right. Because we've been in position to stop the run. We're just not tackling. Oh, that Aaron Foster, like, at the second yard run. Come on. He runs for 55. Tackle. Just tackle. Let him have 10, not 40. Well, tackle him when you hit him the first time. Like, don't let a three yard run turn into a six yard run. Because those three yards are huge. I'm first in 10 to run for three to second and seven, okay. But I'm first in 10 to run for three, then break and gain another three. And now it's second and four. Now you're letting Russell Wilson get comfortable. So no arm tackle against this guy. We got to tackle him. And here's another thing. So under the Bend No Break theory, and I got my other key, we are going to get chances that are big plays. I'm calling two of them. There's gonna be two big plays that are gonna be on defense against them. Russell Wilson, something. Strip Sack,
1:15:02 Jake: Fumble, Interception. It's what you do with those plays. So when the Jets win, my perception, We make hay on those plays. Make hay on the big play. Oh my God. It rhymes, so you know it must be true. On offense, here's my key, and I've said this a million times, I keep watching teams do this, and I watched the Giants do it last week. Again, I watch Giants a lot because they're on, and because they're in New York, and because they're friends and stuff, and because I have Eli Manning on my team. So I watch him a lot. He does that thing, I just wish that every, that any team that has a quarterback and at least some guy who can run would do. And they did it twice last week, and you know what, it worked both times, which is bomb. Fuck it, it's my one in three theory. And you know what, in both times he bombed it? Penalty, 80 yards. They got an any yard penalty or a 60 yard penalty. Just do that. Stop with it. Just do it a couple times. It's okay. It works. They either catch it or they interfere. It's interference. It's using some phantom interference. Do it. We got big guys. Do it. Stephen Hill down the side. Bomb him. Curly down the side. Bomb him. We'll make them know that we can throw the ball down the field and get successful with it. Otherwise, we're not going anywhere. Because if they don't think that we can do that, then they will stack the box. If they stack the box, we're not fucking running anywhere. And we're kicking them and we're punting. We'll play a world of attrition and eventually they'll get the ball at the 40. They'll march 20 yards and they'll take a field goal and they'll be up by three. So... That's my thing. I really want to see some gut call bomb it. Because I feel like it's something that just works in this NFL with this crazy, you know, past interference bullshit. To that end, I see one touchdown in this entire game. And it's not. Not us. Who's scoring it? We're scoring it. Oh, on a, like, who's actually scoring it? No, and you say, you see one touchdown, who's scoring? Us or them? Jets. Score a touchdown. Jets win 13 to 12. It's a barn burner. I'm gonna go pick up Steven Hauschke. You do that. All right, here we go. So that's it for the longest episode not in the wilds. We're making up for lost time. Thank you for everybody. If you guys are in New York, our thoughts and prayers are with you. New York metropolitan area, New Jersey, Connecticut, whatever, from Sandy. If you're listening, we're here too. We got hit by it. If you're all over the world, thank you for your support. You know, again, feeling it from the rest of the world has been really nice. It's been it's been a small uptick on a really otherwise bummer of the last 10 days or so. But we're back up and running. And so we will be podcasting from here on out. We'll see you next week. Remember to go to the blog, go to the Twitter, go to the Facebook. We'll see you there. Remember, swatch your lineups. Until then, until next week. Let's get this fucking one done. Let's go check this.
1:18:27 Jake: Thank you.
