00:11 Justin: are high. Get used to it. It's always going to be that way. I can't wait! Jake: We can do that! We can do that! We can do that! We can do that! Welcome to the Jet Kingdom podcast. Long as we're running New York Jets podcasts on the entire interweb. It is Thursday, October 20, 2011, and I am Jake. Not that I have anything to do with each other, but joining me today for a very special podcast, once, just once this, uh, the hundred and twenty-third time, I was gonna say only once, just once, uh, is the co-host, my co-host, Buddy, pal, and uh, person who goes to way too many fucking games with me. Justin, Justin, how you doing? I feel like that was the intro for like Apollo Creed and Rocky IV. Just before he fought Drago, I had all those like little things that I was. Remember he had like 20 nicknames, something like that. Oh yes. Feel like you just did this yesterday. It was two days ago. It was two days ago. And, but we promised the people and the people demanded. First of all, we had zero last week. So again, another apology for that. We suck, but you love us. Make it up for it. So this week, you're gonna get awesome. So today, final thoughts on Dolphin's game? I gave a lot of thoughts in the last one. Well, I know. I don't know how many thoughts I'm gonna really have. I have a couple days later. I always have a couple more. thoughts. We're going to do our town crier segment where we talk about news, there's some good news out there including the trade deadline, trades that happen, trades that didn't happen. To our fantasy kingdom section where we talk about how we're doing in a stutter dud, maybe talk about some players and movers and shakers and anything that we have to add to the fantasy world. Do you see me moving and shaking? You are shaking, you are moving. That's just your belly. And then we'll do our Jet Kingdom Pick'em, which is, oh, we'll pick every game in the entire week, skipping the AFCEs, which we leave for the throne picks, where we only pick the AFCEs with scores. And then we focus in on the Game of the Century, the New York Jets game I I practicing yet this week not sure if they're practicing today today being Thursday but other than that great great all this talk about the offense and it continues you know how did they
03:02 Jake: get off to a good restart this that the other but on and all they seem to put all that locker room ship. in the media. Fuck the media. Fuck us broadcasters. Yeah, you fuck you broadcasters. It was sort of like a win but it was an ugly win. What, other than again, I think other than our first four series, if you just took those away. What was ugly about that game? We dominated them, they didn't really get in the game. The Dolphins are ugly. They never got to their uniforms are ugly. They were in the red zone three times, came up with zero touchdowns. I just don't know what you know, if that was a Pittsburgh, I feel like they'd be like, yeah, Pittsburgh Steelers are the best team in the world. That's Pittsburgh's game. That's what they do. That's what the Ravens do. That's right. That's how they win. Yeah, so I don't know. I'm a little... Fuck you, media. Yeah, fuck all you fucking media. So We just got blacklisted I'm not I'm just not loving that I'm not loving that feeling well We don't feel that way and we're the media. No, I feel like a win is a win everyone else You're gonna look at scoring a 24-6 looks like we destroyed them and we did again If we didn't score any offensive touchdowns, I could totally say well, you know, it's one of those if they're really seven six or There were games last year that we lost 10-9, 9-0, or 12, what was the one, 12? 9-0 and 10-9. Those were ugly. Those were ugly. And losses. This year we were beating people, keeping them out of the... That's alright. The Jacksonville win was ugly. 32-3. But we destroyed them. Yeah, 32-3. That's a beating. That's pretty good. It's a beating. Let's go. So, Towncrier. Yeah. Towncrier. I hate your soundboard. It sucks. So, we got a couple things. Let's talk about the trade deadline first. It came and went. Right? On Tuesday? Was it Tuesday this week? And some big trades out there. So, lead me through some of them and I will tell you whether they're good or not. The trades. Yeah, trades. Well, I mean there was like one big one the Carson Palmer trade. Yeah, so give me the point. I think it was next year's first. It was Carson Palmer from the Bengals to the Raiders for the Raiders first and the conditional other first maybe? I think the next year, the year after. What an awful trade for the Raiders. What are they thinking? They're getting a bad quarterback. So first of all, this isn't any Bengals, just trade rate the Raiders. The Bengals are going to be good. They're going to be good. Andy Dolan looks good. AJ Green they picked looks good. Their defense is good. They're going to be good. The Bengals are going to be a good team. They can say it out of their own way. They're not going to rest at all. I mean, think about having like multiple first round picks for... back to back years. And in this new age where you're not going to totally
06:01 Jake: pull up. You don't have to kill yourself with those picks. With the numbers. Totally agree. For the Raiders side of it, they lose Jason Campbell for the season. Although, I think, I don't know if it's 100% ruled out for the season. Yeah, he's, um. It's like, going to try. Going to try. But basically, by doing this trade, they're saying, no, no, no, we don't expect you to come back. But they're a four and two team. So they're not a team that, you know, typical Raiders in the last couple of years, anyway, haven't really been. And. in and around it, if this was a one in five team, I don't think they would have made this trade or made it for the high value, but clearly this is a team who's thinking, you know what, we got a shot. Can you see sucks, right, their division? What division? Oakland's division? Yeah, Oakland's division. Well, San Diego's in their division. Yeah, but again, they usually split. But Kansas City, I actually don't think they suck. They lost their best running back and their best defensive player for the season. And you know what? Matt Castle's been doing great back then. And they've won two in a row and Matt Castle did not play poorly in those two games. Actually one of them he played insanely well. Four touchdowns. That's pretty good. I got him on my... And you know what? The way he was going to play it was... They've won two games in a row and they're coming off their bye week this week and they have a chance to win this week. And they won that division last year so I wouldn't necessarily... count them out. I know they look like shit the first two weeks but I wouldn't count them out. The Chiefs. And then the Broncos. They're terrible. They're terrible and they're going with Tebow this week. Right. So they're basically saying hey which is interesting because it sounded like for me the management over the summer really wasn't believing in Tebow. They didn't pick him. They weren't his guys. His guys. So now it's kind of like I think they're just doing this for the fans to shut him up. Give him enough rope to either hang himself. Or be good and be treatable. I think they're gonna pull Matt Castle. They're gonna get all this TiVo hype and then they're gonna trade him. At the end of the season, they'll be like, okay, he's great. Anybody else can have him for $15 trillion. Well, you know Elway wants Andrew Lockett the worst way in the world, Stanford guy. Yes. You know that that's what he really wants. So maybe they're just abandoning. They're like, you know what? We know this guy sucks, but we got to see what we have. We, air quote, have to see what we have because we picked him in the first round, even though they didn't. Let's just play him knowing that he's awful and we'll lose every game. And that'll be exactly what we want anyway. They're not going to lose every game. What's going to happen is they're going to win a couple games that they should. and they're gonna have this big comeback and he's gonna be like, he's gonna make some plays. He just has a lot of physical talent. He's a good fantasy player, because he'll run for like 50 yards down. I just, you know, I don't believe in it, so we'll see. But so Carson Palmer, good or bad trade? For who? Carson, well for Cincy you said it's good, for Raiders. Terrible, terrible trade for Raiders. You're getting literally a bad quarterback. ... ... ... ... Well, that's the thing it wasn't like this guy was lighting it up. No, you're getting a quarterback thousand yards You're getting a quarterback that fine numbers numbers are numbers. But if you watch the game He was terrible. He threw awful picks. He
09:00 Jake: Just didn't throw the ball. Well, they lost they were losers I count I'll go back is by W's and L's And a lot of L's a lot of them right ever since his knee injury specifically and then You know the Raiders sort of did like a panic move. I mean, I feel like they had nothing there But why give up a one overall for a guy who hasn't played it down this year has gonna be an awesome I mean the malcontent on his own team who hasn't played at all for being like, get me the hell out of Cincinnati. Fine, but it's not like you've been part, it's not like you've seen numbers off in this year. Here's the thing, if this were, I'm trying to think the highest trade I'd probably go over this and go, if this were a third rounder, next year's third rounder, I'd be like, good trade. You pick up somebody, third rounder, you're not getting a good quarterback in the third round. Pick up somebody. SUBSCRIBE! If he has something, sparks something great, maybe he has a huge comeback. If he doesn't, you haven't lost the house. But our first round basically means, yeah, you're in it to win it this year. Fuck it. I mean, think of all the players that have been traded away for like the Randy Moss trade. I never really understood football trades. Or the, oh, my favorite was that Roy Williams trade for like a first and a third or something. I don't really necessarily understand football. Well... trades because some guys get traded for virtually nothing like we got homes for a fourth round pick yeah like I don't understand how to value a conditional second yeah I don't understand the value of saying right there okay we're on air here we are on air okay is that that right I don't understand how you value Carson Palmer that much higher than guys who he's actually not better than right I just don't understand how teams do that. And then you go out and you pick Terrell prior in the conditional draft this year as a quarterback. You got Jason Campbell there who you're basically saying bye-bye. See ya. He'll never play for us again. And he was playing well finally after being able to play with the same team. You know you have the same about him being the same team. Well, it's not the same team, it's the same coach. Jason Campbell has never showed anything to me. But that's because he's always learning a new system every single year. Well look, he's shown you something this year. He's four and two, he beat us. He did beat us. Well, the team that he was quarterbacking didn't beat us. Which is, he beat us. Sorry. When other teams say the Jets beat us. They don't say Sanchez beat us. Yeah, that's right. They don't. That's right. But you know what he did? He beat you. Sanchez beat the Dolphins the other night. Really? Guess what? Yeah, he did. Did Sanchez beat the Patriots in the playoffs? Yeah, he did. He threw for 200 yards and was responsible for two touchdowns. He beat you. Oh. Sanchez quarterbacked the team that beat you. Yeah, I don't think anybody thinks that. But I don't give a fuck because they'd be wrong. Well, you're the broke-ass. Sanchez wins court. You tell me. Wins games. That's... That's it. I don't care if you think Sanchez didn't beat me. I don't like the trade. What I love for it is, so what? I get to watch. It's like a crazy show. I wish we had played, I wish we were playing the Raiders this week. Yeah, I know. I wish we didn't have to play the Raiders with Jason Campbell. I wish we got to play in Waccards and Paulmercs.
12:01 Jake: Don't know if he's going to trade or not. What other kind of trades? There was a trade with Ronnie Brown. That didn't happen. So but that was a trade it did happen, but then it didn't yeah, it didn't then it didn't so I guess the Eagles were like It was probably like the Lions, they got the issue with Java Bass with the concussion and got history of injuries Maybe they thought hey, we'll get we don't like this Jerome Harrison either Ronnie Brown whatever and In return the Eagles would get I got get rid of Ronnie Brown and get Jerome Harrison now I don't remember I could probably look it up on this trusted computer. I have in front of me What happened, I think Jerome Harrison, the Eagles didn't like his physical. After they made the trade, or before the trade was signed in gold, there was something happening there. You always think, yeah, whatever. They didn't like it, so the trade didn't happen. Fine. There's not a lot of football trades. I mean, look, trade deadline comes and goes most years without anything happening. So what's all this flacko about the Jets? so not making a trade-o. Suck it. Suck it. There was just on the front page of Yahoo Sports, I was just looking at it before the podcast. I didn't go to Yahoo anymore. I love Yahoo Sports. I think Yahoo Sports is a really good sports site. If you go to the NFL page on Yahoo Sports, earlier today, the... the sort of top story was about how the Jets and the Lions both missed out on trading for a guy who was supposedly available in Peyton Hillis and I didn't get it because what's Peyton Hillis gonna do on the Jets that Sean he can do a pass rusher then fine Well, it's all like she didn't have a fantastic year last year, but He did. But he's a running back. They come and go like, you know, alright, so we had a good year last year, what did he do this year? No, nothing. Oh, okay. Yeah. Like, great. Hurt, nothing. Whatever. Mad and cursed. All the above. I don't know. It wouldn't have really made much sense to me because then what do you do with Sean Green and LT? Like... They rotated it out Say I mean for all the faults that the running games had this year I still like the rotation of the two guys that we have I would feel yeah I don't and and that's the point I think we have a third we have Joe McKnight sitting there that we could run out There if we needed to and we drafted a guy in the fourth round this year that we could potentially Roll out there if we had to so I don't really feel like they're hurting that running back. I don't feel like
15:00 Jake: the actual running back is the- Justin: Even though the running game is- Jake: If you were to tell me, hey, you're gonna get Adrian Peterson, I'd say, well yeah, bring it on. Right. But if you're gonna be like, you're gonna get Peyton Hillis, I'd say, well, first off, he's white. Justin: And, white running backs, though you don't last. Yeah. I'll go racist, I don't care. Jake: Go racist. I'm going there. Go racist. I went there. Yeah, dude. A broadcaster. Yeah, can't wait. True. It hurts. It's actually cracked. White running backs, name me more than that. That you just went racist. Name me a few that have like, you know, after 1980. Here's the thing, I am not a broadcaster. And that's what makes me smarter than you, so I'm not doing that. It's factually cracked. Other than you being hung up on his race. Look, I'm not Rush Limbaugh, it was on ESPN saying, Donna Moon's good for a black quarterback. I didn't say that. You said Hillis isn't good because he's white. And you say he's not good because he's white, and you say he's a white running bag. Why would you? I don't know. It's a true statement. Alright, let's keep going. Alright. That's it though, that's it. That's the news. Yeah, I agree. I think, you know, Pass rusher seems to be the thing we're asking, although my boy Maven... I'm telling you he's gonna he's gonna get some more and more play that like in his his gusto I just can't wait I can't wait for him to do something spectacular it's just awesome it's just awesome I just love it it's just the reversal of the ghost and we're like shedding the ghost of Golson. Well also some in the Cryer News we have basically what five new quarterbacks starting this week we have Ponder Yeah, a lot of guys benched. Ponder, so we got this man. Yeah, after not a terrible game like statistically wise But they just got to get with somebody else. I gotta go something else. Yeah, they weren't really losing that game because of Because of McNabb right? They were just getting killed right? Both sides of the ball they couldn't run. I don't know Ponder looked okay when he came in I was watching it I was probably one of eight people watching that game So we have Ponder going this week. We have Ozzy Palmer we've already talked about. We have T-Bo going. T-Bo. And we have one more. We have John Beck. And John Beck. For Rex Grossman. Who Rex, Rex, sexy Rexie. I could not. Still one of the dumbest things I've ever seen in my life. I couldn't, I can't disagree more though with that decision. Like. Really? Really. Because that... you come out of the... you come out of the preseason and you name a starting quarterback, right? You then proceed to go 3-1 with that starting quarterback. You have your bye week, the entire bye week. You come back out and you lose and he has a... by all accounts, a miserable game. But you know, it's Rex Grossman, he's gonna have a couple of one or two of those a year where it's just, wow, I can't believe this guy's playing. You're still 3-2. In a division that's all shook up. In a division that's all shook up, right? 3 and 2, I think you're still at the top of the division, right? Um, the Dallas is almost like they're going to. No, and the Giants are 4-2, but their schedule is murdered down the stretch.
18:00 Jake: So, this is just a move that... I mean, I know it's like, if the Jets did this to Sanchez, it'd be worse because Sanchez is still young. and you kind of know what Rex Grossman is at this point, but this is just like, well why the fuck did you start him in the first place then? Because you know you're gonna get this. Maybe get you to three and two. That's good. I mean that's just to me just the total, like, benching a guy for performance when it's one game is a complete total overreaction. When you know that you're gonna get that game at some point out of him. Well, it's all A I agree B and they were playing a desperate team and one in four Eagles team If you're gonna do it, don't do it the week after I do it be on the by had your bye week So right but but no everything was fine, but everything was just fine Here's then he has one stinker and it's like oh, let's put in John Beck old reliable the guy hasn't ever won a game Oh, so it's not like you're making like a big like like a big big like a young rookie. No, he's been around played for Miami for two more months. Couldn't even get on the field for people. So I just don't get going to him like what is, if he was a rookie then- This is a bad decision. If I was a Redstone fan, I'd be upset with this decision. If they had a rookie, like Ponder, Ponder's a good situation. Even Tebow a little bit, but Ponder's like, we drafted this guy, we gotta start him up. We gotta give him experience. He's gonna- We're something Tennessee decided all of a sudden to go with jay gawker right or like he's actually winning like Jacksonville did with with Blaine gabber, right Same, that's fine. But like you knew what you had there with Rex and as soon as you named him the starting quarterback You knew you were gonna get one of these games and you know what you're not you're not one in four You're three and two. You're still winning. I feel as if this is a This is the reason why people don't like my Chan and that's not a good pick. That's not a good move Yeah, clearly it's an interesting one I don't get it either, but it's kind of like this and you're playing Carolina this week who stinks on defense like You're gonna artificially make John Beck look better because Rex Grossman could have had a good game, too It's like it's like Miami with the whole Sporano thing that I don't get either It's like they're saying now that if they lose a Denver They'll fire him. It's like, why would you wait until they- Why don't you just fire him then? Why didn't you fire him when you had the buy? When you had two weeks to actually get something straight, now you're gonna wait until that point? One more game? Like, if you're the Dolphins and you're not winning, you should just keep him there. Cause at this point, you want to lose. You weren't winning against the Jets. Anyway, you're the dolphins don't you want to lose at this point? No, no, I don't think anybody wants to lose I feel like they should want to lose not the players but the the management of the I actually think and here's this is something I think this whole suck for luck and I some dolphin fans and someone else the fuck Who just you get in this hole like we're gonna be worse just we get the best traffic I have to say that my own personal gut feeling as a Jets fan who's watched our team suck
21:03 Jake: and do really bad seasons and then also do better seasons, I don't think that if you are the worst, you recover very quickly. From an organizational and from a fan and also from a like, I know that there's a parody in the NFL and I know things go up and down. One year you can do great. when you... But I think if you have these horrible, horrible seasons, they set your whole franchise, all the players, all the free agents, I think it's set you in a skid that might take a couple years, two to three years to bump out of. And I think if you're just doing that so you can get one guy, I don't believe it. Well, the Finns went one and one team, right? One and 15, next year, nine and seven, or something like that. That's good, that's respectable. And then went right back to... sucking again. No they didn't and they made the playoffs. No that was the year they made the playoffs. They made the playoffs at 11 and 5. And that was the year after. I mean that's respectable. Yes but look then last two years 79 79 again they've been put into a spin that I don't think they're getting it out. I don't think that 1 and 15 season put them there. I think Mr. Bill Parcells leaving. puts them there. Okay but that 1-15 season with a bunch of picks in the first round didn't get them out of it either. Yeah it did, it got them out of the playoffs. It's not one year. It didn't. It did. No. It did. I disagree. They made the playoffs, they picked up a quarterback, they went to the playoffs. No, they didn't play that quarterback that year. They didn't pick a quarterback, they picked a left tackle, they picked up a quarterback, and Chad Pennington went to the playoffs. And then they got beat so soundly in the playoffs that they haven't been back. But that 1-15 season meant basically nothing. It meant nothing because the next year they went 11-5. It meant something because I think they've now they can't get back to being... That season five years ago is not doing anything now. I'm just saying I rather... It happened in the Jets too when we went 1-15 or whatever. We had the first pick, right? It happened to us... two years in a row but then we get ourselves involved we go like nine and seven then we go like twelve and four and go all the way to the championship game those those things don't I don't think they matter unless you're completely inept. I think we're saying the same thing which is that I don't think having a really bad I think having a really bad season... get you into a spin that you can't get out of, generally. I feel like you can get out of it. I'd rather be a team. Look at the 49ers. I'd rather be a team. I'd rather be a team. I look at the Lions. You can get out of these spins. We'll see if the 49ers or Lions make it to the playoffs. It's like, you know, it's all- Even so, they're out of that spin. No, if they go eight and eight at the end of the season, they're not at anything. Because you know what, the next year they'll go back to having a forward win season. Like, you can just have these like little blips. Here's the thing. I'd rather be a team that is, I'd rather be the Dolph, I'd rather be the Eagles, I'd rather be the Patriots. I think everyone would rather be them. I'd rather be the Colts. I'd rather be a team that is almost the Steelers. So do you think the Colts spin this year is going to put them into a spin?
24:02 Jake: I don't think there's that a special circumstance. I think a special circumstance because there's been isn't based on all the other factors It's been until one player going Continuing with the Colts. Yeah, you and I have had this conversation offline. We probably don't want to. I don't know about that I believe that the if the Colts continue and are the worst team in the league. Oh, this one. That they should pick Andrew Locke. And you don't think they should. You, me and the other guy who's never on the podcast, yes, we do not believe that. And I believe you guys are dead wrong. I don't have to spend too much time. Yeah, I don't know. If at the end of the year that's their biggest need, right now... If I were them, if there's a stud running back that comes up, they could do it. I would never pick a running back first overall. I would never do it. Then pick, then they could pick someone on the line. I don't know, I just don't know the cold thing well enough. I just look at that team and say, if, you know, again, if Peyton is not going to ever come back and we still, that's still up in the air. Everybody thinks, oh, he's coming back. There's still, it's nerve endings. It could never, ever happen. If he doesn't come back, then of course you're gonna look for a quarterback. And yes, they would go for some, they've done it before. I mean, they picked gold before, they could pick gold again. But if Peyton is coming back or plays the end this year and looks good and like everything's good, I think Peyton has a quarterback that soon. I think he's still got too many years left that they overlap is too much. You want a one or two year, you want a one or two year? I don't think so. I mean, I would think right now, right now. Should, should, wait. Wait, time out. I'm calling the town out. No. Don't be that guy. Who's the best quarterback in the league right now? Tom Brady. Who's the second best quarterback in the league right now? Kevin Rodgers. How long did he sit there? Behind Brett Favre. Three or four years. Right. It doesn't hurt. Tom Brady sat there and if Bledsoe didn't get hurt, Tom Brady'd still be sitting there. I mean, it doesn't hurt. I think it does. Especially when you pick especially when you pick do they pick Oh, yeah Roger first round. Yeah way down the bottom like first round cuz the Niners fucked up and picked Alex Smith 25th And then you could have been the first overall pick but then he slid all the way down cuz nobody wanted Yeah, I think one or two years. I think other than that Because we've seen so much success recently. Yeah, you don't have to at all. You could start a quarterback right away as a rookie at this point. And I think picking a number one like that, giving him all that guaranteed money, and then sitting him so you basically have half your money going towards two quarterbacks. One is playing, one is not. I don't think that's a smart move. Not for that situation. I feel like if you're taking the long view and you're like, wow, we can have 15 more years to be in the Colts, and we've been very successful because we have a quarterback. But they picked the, but they went and picked the quarterback and then went right, they played him the next year. Yeah, they played Paige right away. So why don't you wait, there'll be another quarterback. Don't say that Luck is like the next coming of Jesus. People believe that Andrew Luck is the most sure shot since Paige met. No, that's not necessary. Every year someone says someone is the one who's the worst at it. No one said Cam Newton was the a sure shot at all. Well then they were all wrong. Well, he's 1-4, so...
27:01 Jake: Yeah, I know, but he's the most... He's playing well, but... He's the most traded whatever. Speaking of, let's move into our fantasy. Kingdom section. You're thinking fantasy. That's where I'm going right now. Not victories. He is one of the most, apparently he's one of the most traded four players out there in the fantasy world now. Yeah, because people probably picked him late or picked him up off the waiver wire then. A lot of keepers talking about him, like keeping him for the next year because he could be great. I haven't played more than one year, so I don't know the keeper theory. I think if you're going to keep somebody, you might as well keep someone who's, because it seems like when you're drafting someone, you're really drafting past performance and more of a guarantee. Now, people get hurt, but the guys who got drafted this year in the top five, top six positions were really guys who performed for more than one year. They didn't have one year breakouts. even Hillis would the great year last year. He was not even near the top of the draft because people look for consistency. If we were to look at our draft history thing, I would think Hillis is probably a third round pick maybe. Yeah, because he's because his consistency. People don't like the one-hit wonders. I just think keeping someone like Cam Newton for next year based on four or five games so far, I'm not sure it's like... Yeah, I think you're keeping him because he's... He's so young. It hurts because he's a quarterback. So you have 12, if you're in a 12 team league, you have 12 starting quarterbacks, right? In the league there's 30, right? 32, 32. There's many teams as there are with quarterbacks. If you're in a 12 team league, even if every team has two quarterbacks, there's still starters sitting there on the waiver wire. So like, is he that good? Is he Aaron Rodgers good? Is he Tom Brady good? Is he Michael Vick good as a fantasy player? Maybe not yet. Maybe depends how your keepers work if you get to keep them late Like if you don't lose a right Oh if you don't lose a you know Maybe you picked him up off the wave wire and you lose a ninth or tenth round pick because you kept them Well, you know what can't do in the tenth round pick. That's a good keep That's a good value All right So but if you have to lose like, you know, you get to keep three guys and you lose your first three picks because you're keeping three and Cam Newton ends up being your third round pick, maybe you think that through. Yeah, I actually traded, I picked him off the wave wire off his one first week or second week, I then traded him away for someone to help me this year because I'm not really worried about next year so much right now, I'd like to win a few more games this year. Yeah, I think in general, at this point in the season, unless you... are like 0 and 6 or like 1 and 5, you're still thinking about this year. Right. Justin: Because the playoffs are still in reach. Right. Jake: So you're not really thinking, well, I could trot this guy or that guy, even though that guy's not really as good this year, but I feel as if he's going to be really good next year. Yeah. So like AJ Green or something like that. This is basically the week though. I mean, if you're 0 for right now, you either win or... If you're 0 for right now, I don't... think you're making the playoffs. You're still a shot.
30:00 Jake: Not a radical, still alive, but that's one of those, like Hail Mary passes. But there's still a chance. If you lose this week though, you're almost, there is no chance. So who were the studs last week in the fantasy world? I can think of a few, because I had one on my team and a Ma Bradshaw carried me to victory with his... three touchdowns and over a hundred yards. I know Aaron Rodgers had another Aaron Rodgers game, 300 yards, three touchdowns. I know Jimmy Graham had another very good game as a tight end. I think he was the first tight end since Tony Gonzalez and maybe the only other tight end in conjunction with Tony Gonzalez to have four straight hundred yard receiving games. Which is pretty frickin awesome if you ask me. There were a couple other guys who had some good games as running backs off the top of my head though. I think Frank Gore had a really good game. Justin: Receiving wise, who had a good game? Jake: Yeah, I was up against anybody who was destroying me. You can't think of it off the top of your head? Not off the top of my head. Am I gonna have to go? to last week's score track. Justin: No, we're going to move on. Jake: Because I'm right almost there. Let's go. Let's make some picks. I'm pretty much there. Let's get to our jet kingdom pick them. All right, let's do that. Let's do that. All right, so every week we go through all the games, pick them against the spread. We skip the AFC East games because we talk about. those in a little more detail. Last week you won nine games which is great because I think there's only 13 so 9 out of 13. I won 8 and I was very happy with 8 and I was like yeah I probably beat them and then I looked me at 9. Your three games ahead of me on the season we're both I think we're both still under 500 if I look at the... Yes we are. Well most of everybody is. Only two people are above 500 so only Sarah and the New York sack exchange are above 500 The wife is over and one other team. The wife is actually crushing wife is winning She's she's getting wet that winning by four is crushing at this one You really can't have in a league where no one only people over. I'm 38 and 47 She's an eyeing games under 500 and you are the one games under 500 Three games. I will make those up this week. Not good. I don't like it. Alright, let's get into it. So, yeah, so wait. Who won the week last week? Who was the winner? Oh, for the last weeks, I have to think the wife won it, didn't she? The last two weeks, the winners were... Wow. It was a spread out last week. The Hooligans won last week, week six. How many did they have? They had nine. That's pretty good. You tied them then. And I tied them with nine. He must have picked the whatever. And then week five, because we were actually away and we didn't talk about week five because we didn't have a podcast last week, Sarah did win that week. So she said two weeks of winning. She had nine that week.
33:00 Jake: So not like... She gets absolutely nothing. Yes. Well, so far. Good for her. She gets to brag over you. Whatever. How many wins does she have in her fantasy league? Yeah, I was just about to say, let's see how fast it takes for you to get to their fantasy league to tell them about that. Because she has like one win. Justin: She has one. Yes. Good for her. Jake: Alright, let's start it off with Cleveland hosting Seattle. Seattle coming off the buy. Cleveland, I believe they lost last week, right? Didn't they lose to Oakland? Yeah, I think. Yep. Cleveland's home, given three. The standard three-point spread. I don't know why, I'm just gonna pick Seattle coming off their buy for some stupid reason. Really? I. I don't know. Did they I have to decide where they're going with white hairs to a stainless. I don't even care. I actually, because I'm picking Seattle, I kind of hope it's Whitehurst. I think he's better. I just think he's better. I don't really think Jackson's any good. No, it was just terrible. It was a bad offseason trade. I'm with Cleveland at home. I don't like, again, West Coast coming to East Coast for a, it's a one o'clock. No good. I'll take a... I'll take Cleveland at home in the Dogg Bound. All right, moving right along. We have Detroit coming off their first loss of the week. This will be the only mention of the post-game scuffle because we really don't think it's that big of a deal with the coaches. Yeah, I've seen it. I've seen it. I'm trying to think like how many, maybe 20 something. No punches thrown, just some. in. If it was two dudes after game, hard fought battle, he probably shook his hand and slapped him on the back too hard. Probably didn't say anything to him in terms of like good game or like good luck the rest of the season. I feel like he was just yelling in Schwartz's face like, woohoo, we won! And that's like rubbing it in as opposed to like saying good game. Whatever. If two players did that, it would be nothing. It's over. It's done. Alright, don't really care. I like the only mention. After though I like Harbaugh, what he's done there, I mean clearly he's turned that team around pretty quickly. Both of those Harbaugh boys can coach their asses off. Yeah, they can. Did they actually meet up this week, this year? Thanksgiving night. Oh, that's awesome. Family affair. I can't wait. That's a good one. Alright, so Detroit hosting Atlanta, this is actually a really good game. Detroit is giving three and a half, so getting a little respect for Detroit. the line opened at four. I'm gonna take Atlanta and keep betting that line down. If it was three, I would think about taking Detroit, but three and a half, I'm gonna take Atlanta. Detroit, very inconsistent team. I mean, a team that sort of had to rely on some amazing comebacks. You know, they had to come back against Vikings 21 points, had to come back against the Cowboys and. I think ROMO does stuff that ROMO does. But I like them at home. I like them at home and I'll take the Troy Lions at home against the Atlanta Falcons here. We are two different picks on two games. All right, so Tennessee coming off of there by hosting Houston, this is a division game.
36:01 Jake: Houston still without Andre Johnson we believe he hasn't totally been ruled out but I'd be very surprised to be played really hoping he doesn't play so it makes my fantasy choice a little easier they say he's playing yeah I have to and then he has like one catch for four yards because he's a decoy all game I tell you I thought that Matt job would drop off from not having there yeah Yeah, and he just throws ball everywhere Foster go to the yard swing pass whatever go get all right so Tennessee's home They're given three. I like the home team coming off the by give me Tennessee. Yeah I think he's just gonna keep going come pick Houston. All right, that's good Do you want me to just pick the rest of the games and then I'll just say you have the opposite? No, okay So Miami is playing in the AFC East so we'll skip that one. That's the first time I've done that this year. Got me. Shit. Alright, gotta skip the next one too. Alright, so Chicago flies across the pond to play in Tampa Bay in London. So they're saying that we're gonna get in the future we're gonna get two London games. I don't even like one. I don't want to you know I don't like the London game because Taylor got screwed out of a home game home game Yeah, and you know what I feel like they don't really give a shit and I'd love to know if you're a Tampa Bay Family, I'm sure he was in his podcast. We were Tom Tampa Bay fan. Do you get the ticket? Do you have to pay for the ticket do what I do? Yo, I all right, let me guess I am guessing you have the option to buy the ticket at its face value price that it costs in the Tampa Stadium. Not what it costs over there in London. Right. You get to buy the ticket for what your ticket is worth if you're a season ticket holder. And then you can go over there and use it. And then you can go over there and use it. Or you can decline that offer. So. Because if you have to buy that ticket, that is complete and utter bullshit. So, round robins coming. You know what's coming. You know the jets are gonna be up there. Within the next two years, we're gonna be in London. Justin: Yeah, well we're gonna go. though. Jake: Well, there you think. Would you go? Yes. You would go. I would go because I'd want to go. Well, I'd make a full weekend of it and I'd go to a soccer match on Saturday. Yeah, I think I'd go. That's when they play. I think I'd go just for the fun of it. I love London. I'd go. Yeah, and then we'd go see like Chelsea or Arsenal or something. I would go on Saturday. Justin: I'd be in a pub drinking. Well, we could watch soccer match. in a pub while drinking. Oh, now you're there. All right, cool. Jake: So anyway, Chicago is playing Tampa in London still. They still are. Tampa's the home team. I guess they get to wear their orange jerseys and Chicago gets to wear the white ones. I guess that's really it. Tampa is... Tampa's getting one point from Chicago. Um... I'm not sure why. Chicago just beat Minnesota. Man, Minnesota sucks. And Minnesota sucks. Tampa just beat New Orleans. New Orleans did it. And that's a good division win right there.
39:01 Jake: Uh, give me Tampa. I'll take Tampa and for one reason only. They've done this... before they were over there I think two years ago oh really and I feel like they know how to go they said that they know to go earlier and whatever I'm just a little tricks I'm just gonna tamper because they've been there before all right my man Ernest Graham all right Carolina at home versus John Beck and the Washington Redskins Carolina is favored by two and a half points and I picked them. The John Beck thing threw me. If Rex Grossman was starting for Washington I feel like this line would be different. I feel like it'd be closer to even, closer to even. Carolina and Price still be favored and I'd probably pick Washington but I'm gonna pick Carolina. Yeah I'm gonna go with Carolina. I like Carolina coming home. I think Cam Newton, I think, here's the thing with Cam Newton. They're just figuring out what they got and at some point they're gonna start to like Give him the stuff that he can do very well I feel like they've been having him air the ball out a little bit But then they said wait he can actually run wait at the goal line I just feel like this is the game that they can they can really capitalize on what he can do If you're a care if you're a You know owner I think you're gonna do pretty well as well. Yeah, well the one thing Washington can do is rush the passer It's pretty good. They played 3-4 and they've seen pretty good outside linebackers, the rookie Carrigan and a rack ball on the other side. It'll be interesting to see how they contain Cam Newton because they're going to want to come up the field and do what they do inside the quarterback. It'll be interesting to see if he runs more of this game. Anyway, I like Carolina. You said you like Carolina too. I want to take Carolina. Cool. Moving on, we have Oakland at home with Carson Palmer. This line has actually shot up since that was announced. It opened at three and a half. It's now at four and a half. I guess the Palmer shot the line up, which I guess Palmer, they're considering better than Kyle Bowler. So Oakland's hosting Kansas City. Oakland giving four and a half. I like Kansas City. I feel like they're turning their season around and this is a big one for them. I feel like they found a running back in battle to come in and run the ball. The week off helped them get everything acclimated. Bowe is a tough cover. Castle's a serviceable quarterback. I feel like they can play. I don't... I just think the spread's too big. I don't think the Kansas City will win, but I think the spread's too big in a divisional matchup. I think it'll be closer. I think it'll be a one two-point game. So I'm gonna I'll just stick with him. I'm gonna take Kansas City to play the spread. I seem to believe in that whole like Oakland's a team of destiny for Al Davis who? No. Al Davis was for all intents and purposes. Assholes, so there's no he is the greatest thing to ever walk. Oh now he's dead. Of course. Yeah, Michael Jackson died It's like oh you never touch never touch children never gave them Jesus juice never which is the greatest man in the world He is awesome. All right. All right Moving right along. Can we really offend to it? Oh my god. I've attended Jackson fans. I've attended all white people
42:02 Jake: I've offended Michael Jackson. All day Raiders fans are alienated now Just win baby. Sure. In the 70s. Pittsburgh. Home team to win, to go to every, to go to a Super Bowl, to go to a Super Bowl every decade for the last four decades. Really? They went to a Super Bowl in the 90s? Every decade they went. They went in the 90s? They went once. The 90s? The 90s? I think they went in the 90s. They must have went in like 99 and 2. No. Really in the 90s? They went to the store? Yeah, that's the rule. I'm throwing it out there. Did you make it up? Yeah, I did. No, I heard it and then I'm just repeating it. Maybe I heard it wrong. Maybe it was once. I don't really feel like they went in the 90s. Alright, keep going. Um, Pittsburgh going to Arizona. Pittsburgh giving three and a half. I still don't think Pittsburgh's any good. What are they, 4 and 2? They've lost the two games that they've played against good teams. They've won four games against bad teams. Justin: Yeah, but they're playing a bad team. Jake: Playing a bad team coming off a bye on the road. I don't know why. Just give me Arizona. I feel like maybe there's going to be something with that Super Bowl matchup from a couple years ago. It'll be all revved up. Give me Arizona. I think there'll be something, you know, called the Pittsburgh Steelers. beating Arizona again. I just don't think they're that good. I don't think they're that good. It doesn't matter though They're just one by four against Jacksonville. Every time you say they're no good He'll come out and put up four, you know, put up a ton of points on them So Arizona is better than Jacksonville, right? Jacksonville's terrible. No, they don't have a good running game. But Jacksonville's who doesn't have a good running game? Beanie Wells has had a great year. Yeah, he ran all over the Giants. I think you're talking. I think you're talking fantasy versus like actually scoring and winning games. Whoa, I mean he ran he runs for like 100 yards a game. I mean that's a good running game, isn't it? I don't know. Is it a scoring running game or is it just like you're or you're just eating up clock or whatever? I just don't like I watch them play the Giants and essentially don't believe in Kevin Cobb. Don't think Kevin Cobb can win games. That's right. I just don't think Pittsburgh's very good. Don't think the Pittsburgh Steelers defense has taken this huge hit. think they have I mean is Paul model playing Kevin cobbles all my own playing I don't know Blaine Gabbard was able to bring Jacksonville to the brink of coming back and beating them yeah Pittsburgh was up 17-nothing last week they won 1713 against Jacksonville who's terrible and gabbard rookie quarterback they only let him score one touchdown 1713 yeah only scored one touchdown okay all right I'll take this I'll take Arizona put it on the decking pick them all right Dallas is hosting st. Louis Dallas coming off their tough loss against New England st. Louis coming off of another loss against Green Bay they actually I think they played one of the better games against Green Bay this year. New Orleans played them pretty good.
45:01 Jake: I know they only give up 24 points. I think Green Bay may have stopped trying in the second half. Whatever. Yeah, we won. 24-3, done. Um, the line is 12. Dallas is giving 12. It opened at 10 and a half, shot up to 13, and it's now down to 12. Is Bradford playing? Is that why this is like fluctuating so much? Either way, I feel like this line is too high for Dallas. I like St. Louis. Yeah, I think that it could be a 10 point game. If you told me it was a 10 point game, 11 point game. If you told me it was a 13, 14 point game, I'd say that's what I'm saying. So I'm saying that I'm gonna take the under. I'm gonna think it's gonna be within 12 points. I think St. Louis will lose. That's not the under. Under means something else. I understand. I'm taking the under on where I think this red is. Do you understand? I understand Speaking of Green Bay, Green Bay is going to Minnesota to face Christian Ponder, not a very easy game for a first start. Green Bay is a tricky defense. At least it is at home. But Green Bay's a tricky defense. They put a lot of pressure on you with a lot of blitzes and Green Bay's offense puts a lot of pressure on you because you know they could score every single time they're on the field. They probably will. So Green Bay giving nine on the road. I like them. Give me Green Bay. You know what? I'm gonna go the opposite here. for two reasons. One, again, nine points, a lot of points at home. And I think you're gonna get some of that, you get that, you get the new guy bump. You get the new guy bump? You get the new guy bump? Christian Ponder bump? I think people will play harder, faster, whatever. You're gonna get the TiVo bump, you're gonna get the new guy bump, I think you're gonna get the Ponder bump. So I could see Peterson actually running hard this game. I could see him... putting up some points. So Green Bay is 6-0, right? Yep. Just to throw this out there, they... their slimmest margin of victory so far this year is 7. Right? Every other game they've won by at least... oh, 1-7, 1-8, and all the other ones are at least 10. Justin: So you think that like that's just gonna stop? No! I think they win games by 20, 30. Jake: They can win by 7. Okay. That would be their slimmest margin of victory this year. That's great. That's how I'm looking at that. Ponder Bump. Give me the Ponder Bump. Ponder Bump, okay. Good luck Adrian Peterson with nine guys in the box. Good luck this week. All Ponder has to do is throw to an open guy. Good luck. Good luck in the end zone. Uh Sunday night. We have some shitty. Oh Another fucking reason how many fucking games is cold get they always play prime time He's is cool. Do they never make not play when they make that schedule? They're like let's get Peyton Manning on in prime time. Oh, this is a great matchup with Peyton Manning's playing
48:00 Jake: Without Peyton Manning, we've ever been stuck with some awful prime time matchups. Jesus Christ. Monday nights no better. Shit, too. Sunday and Monday no fun this week. So disappointing. It really is. Sunday night, New Orleans hosting Indy. New Orleans giving 14 points. Indy hasn't really been getting blown out. No, they haven't. So I'm going to pick Indy. 14 again, I just these huge huge spreads. I just don't like it. I look at a 14 points. It's coming off loss Yeah, come on. I guess a team that you know division game They're coming off a loss to a team that the prior week lost by 45 points Yeah, that's just that's crazy. Para. Oh, whatever it is. Yeah, I'll take I'll take the cult again it straight up I'll take the I'll take the Saints say no 14 points Again, I could see a little I could see in our little thing in the tiebreaker. It makes you choose the scores for these games Yeah, what did you choose for this game? Ah, I will tell you in a few minutes when I actually put in that Oh because I put mine in and it's 31 17 which would be a 13 point 14 point victory which would be a That was really smart. So you picked the thing that would make you lose. Well no, it's a tie you wouldn't get. I can't win either way. That's brilliant. That's just how I feel. You might want to change it. I can't. I can't change it. I can't not pick. I can't. There's no button to say pick a push. No but pick a score that. Alright whatever. But that's what I think the score is going to be. You actually okay There's nothing I can do about it You fucking fatata I could switch my pick to New Orleans and say that the score's gonna be the same I'm just more confident in my pick of indie than I am in the score Anyway Anyway, Monday night Umm Baltimore faces off against Jacksonville In Jacksonville Baltimore's giving 7 and a half off. I give Blaine Gabbard zero chance of even scoring a touchdown. My score on this one was 27-6. So give me Baltimore. I saw what they did to the Jets offense, and I saw what the Jets did to the Jacksonville offense. And by theory of tying those things together, there's absolutely no way Jacksonville scores anything in this game. Yeah, they're at home, but yeah, I think that Baltimore. That Baltimore D is as good as I've seen it. in a while, and they're usually good. We saw in person. That is a good defense. They're everywhere. They're literally all over the place. In fact, I will pick them to score the fewest points this week. That's what I did. I will pick Baltimore, and Baltimore will... I'll pick that game. I'm gonna pick it 27-13. Alright, let's move right along to the throne picks for week 7. Yes. And I almost almost picked it in the in the in the Jet Kingdom pick them but so we start with Denver at Miami now Tim Tebow Denver coming off of a buy so they had a week or two weeks wait we bring in some sort of religious things we can offend
51:03 Jake: all the Christians out there defend all the Christians Tim Tebow praying to Jesus that he doesn't get killed against the dolphins get killed against the dolphins So some storylines on this. Cameron Wake could kill him. I'm sorry, did Cameron Wake play last week? Jason Taylor maybe? Did Jason Taylor play last week? I didn't hear their names. They didn't hear much from Jason Taylor. I didn't hear their names last week. By the way Jason Taylor shut the fuck up. This is why you shut the fuck up. This is because Chad Henny is better than Sam Mark says shut the fuck up. Go back to your own fucking team and shut up. Alright alright that's out. So Denver has two weeks to prepare for Miami. They're gonna go with Tim Tebow. Tebow coincidentally making this start Not too far from where he went to college. So it's not his first team. It's not his first start. No. He started last year. He started four three games last year. Three or four towards the end of the year. This one happens to be in Florida. I mean they are making it seem like this is his first time. It's not his first career career. Let me get this out. No, go for it. time out. I feel as if there's gonna be a slew of various Broncos fans there. Oh they've already sold out another 20,000 tickets because he's going. T-Boe. Yeah. And they're all gonna be not Denver fans but T-Boe fans. Like you'll see people in Florida Gators jerseys. That's it. Because they're right there. I mean they're not right. there but they're in the state so it's like you know six seven hours drive to Miami's had real trouble selling tickets this year real real trouble they just sold another 20,000 sure because he goes to Florida and Florida time it's people time that's not really even gonna be a home game for Miami nope although they don't win at home so maybe this is better for them yeah it's no good for them I don't know Miami looked horrid last last week. Denver's defense is really no good but I don't think you have to be very good to Miami. Brandon Marshall playing his old team you got that little storyline going you got T-bo back in Florida you got that little storyline going it's a fairly interesting game when you think about those couple of little scenarios. Too happy we won't see it. Not two horrible teams, so that doesn't help. We won't see it because it's at the same time as a jet game, will it actually be on TV though? So when games are, here's the question for you, when games, cause I don't know, when these home games don't sell out and they don't, they're blacked out. You can get them out. You can get them out of our. So we they're still a broadcast team there. They're still like like it it happens Right like that game happens a TV of us if a team game isn't on local TV. It's still it still happens So it's for the it's for the away teams market for the Miami dolphin fan in Seattle He will watch this game or for the Broncos fan. They can watch this And as a red zone customer and a direct TV, ticket pulled, whatever thing you get the game. Alright cool. And I think even on my fans. So you're actually better off being a Dolphin fan like in New York. Yeah. Well I think this game will sell out because of the people.
54:00 Jake: But even if they didn't. You're better off in New York. Anyway to the score. I had Denver winning 15-12 all field goals. Nobody scores a touchdown. Really? Not gonna give Tebow like one run in? No, 15-12. You know what? You can basically score this one 5-4 You know the Dolphins we handled them They had some chances of scoring us. They just couldn't get it right We also just happen to have one of the best corners in the league to take out a pretty good why is it their only weapon their only weapon well I thing I don't want to know I'm just not I don't want them to be winless the light to the win a couple games because that just means like yeah no one really cares anymore so I want them to win but I think they will I think they'll score I think this is too bad defense so what's the score at 1820 dolphins win that's not a lot of scoring no but it's a couple touchdowns I wonder what the over-under is on that game I don't know let's move on give me the under all right game of the century all right I'm gonna the millennium member just so you the castle castle I got it We got a stutter dud coming up too. Should we do that before we do the game this century? Yeah, what are you doing for your... We're both picking tight ends this week. Well, let's just start out there. We do a new game this year called Stutter Dud. We each pick one player. I think they also call it a Luminator. We literally have eight minutes to finish this podcast. We are gonna finish it. I have to go somewhere. Yeah, so we decided since I started picking really hot... to quarterback. You're like, I'm going to pick Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees. I didn't. Back to back to back. I picked two of those three. So then we decided, well, we're going to fill a fantasy team. Right. So that will wrap around. Two QBs, three running backs, three wide receivers, two tight ends. We only did two QBs because you had already picked two of them. Well, no, because there's 17 weeks. Yeah, there's a lot of weeks. We have to wrap around. to fill the roster. We have to wrap around. So I've picked my two QBs. I've picked my one... We both sort of filled our likely slots, so I think we both went with tight ends. So we're both going with tight ends. So it's a matchup of tight ends. That's right. I'm picking Jimmy Graham. He's amazing right now. Yeah. So he's on fire. So hot right now. He's so hot right now, that Jimmy Graham. And... He's unstoppable, so I'm picking Jimmy Graham. Good pick, I'm gonna pick good friend of the podcast, aka not really, but Dustin Keller. Dustin Keller, all right. I'm doing a little bit of fantasy incest, he's on my team. All righty. So I'm gonna pick some love from Dustin Keller. Who's had some really good games? Well, let's talk about Dustin Keller in this jet game. Yeah. Game of century. Game of century. Game of millennium. Game of the thing that's higher than a millennium. So. Cause there's been lots of talk. Yeah, and some storylines already started. Lots and lots of talk. Here's the storylines. First storyline is when Rex came out. He was when he- Came out of the closet?
57:00 Jake: Yes, when he moved there. Now we're offending gay people. All right. Let's run the gamut. There's nothing wrong with that. So when he came out of the foot closet, foot locker, oh, so good. When he came out going for him, he was being interviewed. One of the teams he was looking at was the Chargers. So in an interview this week, he said, and I heard the interview and I heard what he said and whatever, he said, if I had been their head coach, I'd have a couple rings. Then he called North Turner. And he apologized after. Norv hadn't even heard the quote. He accepted the apology. Then he goes back and hears the quote. And then he goes on and he does the thing. And he goes, he said back. He said, is that like all those rings you keep promising you're going to win every year? So there's already a head coach like, rrr, going on. Well, Norv Turner is... by all accounts an awful head coach. Worst head coach ever. And he's like, he's like Wade Phillips. He's an amazing offensive coordinator. If he was just an offensive coordinator, he'd be known like Dick Laboe is known. You know, like this is just a fantastic coordinator. Miserable head coach, makes awful decisions, can't win big games, just terrible. Other stories we have Kamarti. Yep, who was you know, someone's been mouthing off too. Well, he played for the Chargers for four years And we have a Lataina Tomlinson another of him made another Couple guys playing the Chargers and we have the storyline that we hit the last time we met we beat them in their own house in playoffs Yeah, so we have a couple stories We've knocked them out of the playoffs a couple times over the last seven or eight years How you doing? I love Nate Kitting. I love Nate Kitting. By the way, their kicker is the guy who we had in camp battling against Nick Folk. So, Nick Kitting's not playing? Nick Kitting's been injured this entire season. Hey, that's the wooden surprise. Nick Novak. I don't know his first name, but it's Novak. So, here's something. I'm just going to talk a little bit about this game. First of all, I'm going. Me too. Yeah, you're going with me. Actually, and for the second time this season, I know everybody on the podcast really cares. I'm taking my daughter. I can't wait. Just saying. I can't wait to go to a game with her. It's gonna be so much fun. So I'm looking forward to it. Um, but here's the thing. She's gonna get her face painted, right? I I hope that yes, yes. I hope that this game is not a I want the Jets just to do to play to their strengths. and not play to what everybody's telling them to do. My example is the Patriots game. Patriots game, it was, we're getting away from the run, the ground and pound, we gotta come out and do the run, do the run. So they just go and run the ball. To their, you know, great, they showed they could run the ball. But then they couldn't score, right? They couldn't stay on the field. Like, I feel like last week, you saw when we talked about this in the last podcast, it was just this weird offense of like okay we're gonna try something twice let's try that play once oh that doesn't work let's try something let's try reverse this time but it's like he was just he was like whipping through he's like playing he threw all the cards up with every play on it making it rain with the cards yeah and then just picked
1:00:01 Jake: one as they came down We need an identity. My keys to the castle for this game is find an identity on offense. We know we are on defense. We're either we're a good defense who has problems stopping the outside run, right? On offense, just find an identity and stick to it. If we can find an identity, I think we have it, right? It's a get going with the running, stick to it, and that will set up some open guys that will make plays. Because I think if you get it to a Keller to a Holmes to a plaques ago if he doesn't drop it You can make big plays big touchdown plays. So I say we do that That's my key the castle is find it in offensive identity and stick to it So mine is on defense. I Feel and I've watched San Diego play twice this year. So I've done some advanced scouting excellent as your buck a big part of their Offense is aside from Vincent Jackson, which I'll say fine. Rebus is on Jackson the whole game that has more catches Whatever that just has to happen Rebus over on Jackson. So let's pull that out of the equation. Yeah, the rest of their offense I swear to God is Tolbert Tolbert and Matthews running and dump passing running dump pass run dump pass I play this game maybe he's planning on it. Yeah at the moment. They're saying likely to play. But we've seen this before where he goes out there and it's more of a decoy than anything. The key is they throw the ball over the middle to their running backs more than I've seen anybody do it. Like I believe they're like in both of them are in the top five in like receptions for running backs. It's just crazy to have two on one team. It means they do it a lot. They run the ball a lot, they do that dump off crap a lot. So the short game, gotta stop that. Because Vincent Jackson, you'll take care of that. That's what they do to set up these big explosive plays. But that's gonna be taken care of, because Reeves is gonna be on them. You gotta shut that little short crap down. Alright, done. Anyway, my score for this game... is 2617 Good Guys. 2217 JETS, Jets, Jets, Jets, we win, we end the podcast.
