11 Justin: are high. Get used to it. It's always gonna be that way. Can't wait! Welcome to Jack Keenan Pod. Jake: Longest Running New York Jets Podcasts on the entire interweb what what? Victory Monday podcast Love it. I'm Jake joining me today for special 127th time Justin the co-host how you doing? Just made this sound like an after-school Justin: Special did this is a very special checking the way where did they Jake: Tell me on the doll where they touched you. Oh my god. Hahaha! So, first of all, you broke another one of your rules yesterday. What did I do yet? What did I do yet? Oh, I watched the game with you. Yeah, you watched it. Now you watch the game with me. You showed up like 11. I showed up at 11. You played game, you played Madden. I showed up at like 12.30. And then you stayed until like 8 o'clock at night. I did. So like for someone who says I'm never going to watch the game with you. Justin: I stayed through almost the whole first half of the Sunday night game. Jake: Yeah. Bye-bye. Yeah, so we got some agenda on a Monday. It's a pretty simple one. I do enjoy Monday podcasts. We bask in the glory of all things Jets. We talk about the great defeat of the Buffalo Bills. Justin: The whiteout. Jake: And the whiteout that didn't happen. And pick some nights. Pick a play of the game. and then we talk about some other scores and stuff. Why don't we get into the game that was, you know, going into this game, I would say I was a little worried. This is a high powered offense who had, you know, basically best in the AFC East till date. And you never know what Jets team's gonna show up. But you know what showed up? the The defense showed up. Justin: The whole team showed up. They got off the bus or the flight, wherever they did. They showed up ready to play. Jake: Yeah, I mean it was not a high flying first half. I mean it was 3-0 going into the half and you're thinking, okay that's not enough. Like I was thinking, I like 3-0 but I'd rather 10-0. Justin: I felt very good about the way that they played even though it was only 3-0. The way that they played in the first half they had the game under control. They had that long drive The bills were going nowhere fast. I felt really good about it There was no worry in my mind about what was gonna happen throughout the second half really didn't you didn't think that we're only up? I thought we could have won six nothing if we had to Like it would have just happened that way but instead we scored some points and they scored some meaningless points Jake: Yeah, that's sort of a bummer at the end of the game. I hate when they do that But uh, yeah, so I mean big things I guess out of the game was Fitzpatrick is sort of human
04 Jake: He sees his just as I predicted. I didn't think he was as good. He hadn't met up against a good defense yet He's now seen a top five defense and he's shown his true colors, which is that Justin: Really doesn't have a lot of weapons. He's kind of a system quarterback. Yeah, and Galey has a nice Spread system they spread you out wide they run it up the middle. That was the key I mean the Jets were able to with whatever defense they were playing Not have to adjust out to stop the run. They were able to just stop the run with whatever they had going right and continue the game plan as it was to play the passing game and the running game the way that they wanted to and They were they didn't have to stack the box they didn't have to pull an extra linebacker in when they really want to play all these DB's because Buffalo's gonna spread you out. They had Kyle Wilson in the game quite a bit They were able to do what they wanted to do and and you know, keep Fred Jackson in check No, he was kept in check and we think Sean Green had a good game You look at it Fred Jackson had a better game than Sean. This is kind of weird, you know, Fred Jackson did lose the fumble. Fred Jackson did get stopped on fourth and an inch and on a big play by Bart Scott, there were a bunch of factors that, you know, the Jets took the Bills out of what the Bills wanted Jake: to do. Also, they just our regular defense. Also, they pulled Sean Green because of whatever towards the end of the game. He also was pulled back on a huge run that would have been a 30-yard run, if not more, pulled back for a holding on... Matt Mulligan. Yeah, so got chewed out Justin: He's so I branded more and then on the sideline got chewed out by shot number Jake: So I mean John totally killed was running good and then you know you get to bring in LT and he's not looking bad I mean Sean Green went 19 for 76 was averaging four yards per carry with a long 10 felt like he ran bigger than that. Justin: It felt like you ran more than that because they had a lot of sustained rhythm drives, which is what we've been asking for and the jets delivered on a 10 minute drive, an 8 minute drive. They had all these long drives. I'm trying to find a place where I can actually find this. Here we go. Maybe this drive log will help me. So they had you know a The Jets had a really long 10 minute drive for their first drive nice sustained drive they had you know a Four minute drive five minute drive They had the debacles at the end of the first half Over fine, then they had a couple more like seven minute draw or eight minute drives and three minutes right all these drives that resulted in Points right a second half they punted once in the second half other than that It was feel go touchdown touchdown touchdown run out the clock, right? That's awesome, which is what you want Jake: And again, they're there, you know, they're strength in some ways is their offense right there to score that
04 Jake: The bills are meant to score with you. So okay you score 28 will score 30, but if we basically We kept our defense well rested. We had these long drives. We drove down, we scored, but then we wouldn't let the, they go three and out. So then their defense is back on and we just got to pound them and beat them up. I'm in time possession, 37, you know, to 22 or almost 38 minutes to 22 minutes. I mean, like that's, that's incredible. That's, that's very one sided. We had 24 first downs, they had 14. You know our third down efficiency, which is actually very good was six six for eleven They were three for eleven. We have actually I think the statistic is we the Jets have the best third down defense in the league And really did a great other than for the last drive, which was kind of like Some of the reporters today were saying, you know The Jets were on the sidelines trying to figure out how to do a Gatorade bath and they were you know playing you know, really held him in check. Other stuff? I mean, I think the other story is really Sanchez, which is that we need to figure out a way to get this guy to just not make these big glaring mistakes. Now, we had this game and this game went on, you know, again, it turned into a blowout at certain point, but the time that he threw that peck... That was no good like you get it first quarter. Yeah in the first quarter in the first You know it's like it seems to be a thing like Baltimore game stripped back in the first quarter Chargers are saying this during the game Chargers You know whatever third third pass, you know stripped back for a person on him though Yeah, it was behind color a lot, but color makes catch fumbles ball. How's that quarterbacks? All right. Well, it's funny cuz in the other podcast you were saying that should have been interception but it wasn't. I know. It was behind Keller's The Problem. Well, there's... That wasn't him. There... That was the Jets. You... I don't want you to put this on him. Put it on the Jets. I'm not putting on such as. I'm putting it on... I'm just saying there's a part of him that seems to be just... I don't know. It's never like a complete just... dominating good performance. He has these fits and starts. They seem to be about three quarters worth of really good play, but about one quarter where he's... I mean that fumble, that fumble was nothing. The ball, it was a perfectly good snap, it came right to his hands, and then he just dropped it. And we lose the ball. If we had not taken away from Fred Jackson, if we got the two picks of... of Fitzgerald, this game would have been different. So I just think it's just those mistakes like on the road turning the ball over what, three times or twice? Did we turn it over? We turned it over twice and they turned it over three times. Yeah, I mean I just you can't do that on the road to win. We did it. We have a great defense, but I would I can't wait until this is a high-powered offense. and a high-powered defense, this team will be unstoppable. Justin: You might have to wait a while. Jake: Never gonna happen. 27 points is a good amount. That was very good. I'm excited. So, uh... Justin: They should win with 27 almost every week. Jake: Give me your play of the game and your night. Um...
00 Jake: You know, I don't know when this happened. Justin: But I feel like that... fourth and inch stop was the nail in the coffin play. So like the, you know, we're sitting there, they call it short on the third down play short by an inch. Changi Ali goes ahead and challenges it to try and get the first down there and we're like, Oh, why would you do that? It's an inch, whatever. Just go for it. Tom Brady gets that. gets that inch every single time. Like he never almost never gets it. Most teams, if you do a sneak, you're getting that. And then they decided to hand the ball off, which is, we were sitting there and I was like, the best thing the Bills could do now is hand the ball off. Just give us a chance. For us, for the Jets, yeah. Give us a chance to get a little penetration and maybe stop the guy behind the line scrimmage. And what do they do? They hand the ball off. And Bart Scott's right there in his face. Yeah. So I'm gonna go ahead and say that is my play of the game. Yep. And your knight? It's a hard one. This was this felt like a team victory There wasn't one guy that really stood out above any one other guy like even on defense where the defense played So so well and they shut down the the the running game really well I mean I guess I Guess I'll just go ahead and throw it to a guy that I don't think we've ever even given it to Sione Puah because he's an anchor in the middle. He was playing nose tackle He's really come along, I think he's a defensive captain. And when you shut down the run, the big boy's up front, down two, down a starter and a backup. Pooh out probably played more, snaps, I don't know that as a fact. and just... Thrown it out there, and I thought he you know if the if the run defense is playing well You don't really always notice these guys, but he's probably the guy that was in there doing the dirty work Jake: Well, I have a that's good one. I'm actually gonna go defense too But I'm gonna go an offensive play which was I guess pretty much during garbage time when they they went to run the wildcat I'm sure everybody saw this on TV because they played it and they played it again today about four times, but there was a funny point where Sanchez lined up as a wide receiver and The I don't know who it was on the other side the defender Really just like jinxes him, like goes for Sanchez, like off the line, and Sanchez jumped back about a foot and a half. He goes, whoa! They're having lots of fun with that in film study tomorrow. Oh, that was the play of the game. That was just so funny. And you know what? And he was called for holding on the play. Oh, then! So that's the play? The hold? Then he ran, and he was like, kind of like, you know, then they ran towards him and he was kind of, you know, holding him. Whatever the hole was not a big he was like laughing about it. Yeah, but you know what? We're talking about there's a day we were watching the the night game. We're talking about flacko right sucko It's sucko. Although, you know, he drives down. I don't carry sucko. Yeah, so or fuck you just look at his
05 Jake: You just look at his personality and Like, yeah, I know Sanchez makes mistakes, and yeah, I know he eats hot dogs, and he rubs boogers on his other guy. But like, he's likable. Like I like this guy, and I want him to do well. These other guys, they just look like these... I know, they just don't have any personality. I don't know. So that was my play of the game. And you know what? I am going to stay on the defense. and I'm gonna give my Night of the Game to someone we don't give a Night of the Game I guess we've given him once Wow, well I've given one to a guy that I don't think we've ever given it to Well I'm gonna give it to someone who, and the reason I've given it to him is because I didn't hear him Oh I did not hear his name No you didn't, only in good place And I, yeah I didn't hear any big things, there was no So, Even the plays that happened with the ground hit, like he just wasn't the problem. And sometimes he can either be the greatest or sort of the problem. And that's Camarti. Like Camarti played well. He had two pass defense and one forced fumble. Yeah, when you don't hear anything about him, like other than if he has the interceptions, but like against the Jaguars, but good job. Like, you know what? So, let's do it. Even when Rieves and who, you know, again, Stevie Johnson had what, 80 yards or 85 yards and three... Yeah, he had some garbage time stuff. And he had one big play. He had one big play for 52 yards. Without that, you know, that would be a really bad game. But Soggy looks at Karate and his 17 kids for Night of the Game. And with that he gets... absolutely nothing. He gets a big bucket, another! Big bucket of bush. Alright, uh, any other thoughts? What about the play call? What about the um penalties? I know the Buffalo fans, you have Buffalo fan friends. I do. Were they bitching and moaning about the plays? They were bitching and moaning, Justin: thought that they got the short end of the stick on the penalty situation. Um, they thought that there were some past interference calls, particularly the one that- The one that Plaxico raped that guy? No, not that guy. That- that- not that one. That was a- that was a rape act. The one where Holmes got the call, it was like a 40-yard gain. And there was a play earlier in the game where Fred Jackson was going down the field and there was some contact. and they didn't call anything. And, you know, the interception that was overturned, called an interception that George Wilson made, and they challenged it, wasn't an intersection. There were a couple of things that I was getting text messages about, like, that's bullshit, that's bullshit, you guys are paying the refs or whatever, but that is such horseshit. I could sit there, I could sit there as a jet fan and say, Bye. Fuck the bills are getting we had nine penalties They only had six right like like shit the bills are getting all these calls and they're gonna sit there and say shit The Jets are getting all these calls like that's a you're watching the game You're losing you feel like it's going against you and I'm sure I can guarantee it
01 Justin: that if you go back and listen to this podcast after Jets losses, I am guaranteeing you I've bitched and moaned about the referees. It's just a matter of if you're losing, you're gonna bitch about something. It's not your fault, it's the referees or something. Jake: Well, I mean, alright, two things. One is we had nine penalties for 60 yards, they had six for 85 yards. Yeah, it was the big pass interference. That's like a 40-yard balance. That's a big one and that really that's that was a that was a Game-changer sure down to one or wherever close two things. I thought it was absolutely inconsistent Totally if you look at those two plays one the the the passing interference against Holmes versus the non-call We're literally Plaxico And it seemed to me, now thinking back on it, it was a little bit towards the Jets. I would say the thing that, I've said this in other podcasts, ones that I'm not even on with you, these other podcasts I do by myself, they're really good. I can't imagine. I don't care if it's one way or another, meaning if they call every pass interference, fine. If they call every hold, fine. Or they don't call any hold. But I just want it to be consistent across both teams. do feel like. of the calls or non-calls, we got a few calls and a few non-calls. Like, I think it tilted towards us. Does that make up the difference between 27 to 3? No. We were going to beat them anyway. Calls or non-calls. Those calls didn't do the fumbles. Those calls didn't do, you know, their... precious quarterback throwing two interceptions or being tricked into traps. Justin: I did get some stuff at halftime about how Fitzpatrick is a better quarterback than Sanchez and I took an exception to that. Really? Well, why would they even say that? It's dumb. Based on what? Nothing. a one season, half a season? Half a season where his averages are just going plummeting. He had a decent year last year, but I mean he's clearly a system quarterback. It's not like he's he's any good He's been in the league for a while You don't realize it, but the guy's been in the league since 2005 The other day he's almost 30, he's he He's a backup in st. Louis for two years. He was in Cincinnati in 0 809 where he played 13 games I guess that was maybe a year that that Palmer got hurt or something And his quarterback rating was a 70. His first year in Buffalo where he was behind Trent Edwards and JP Lulzman and whoever else, his quarterback rating was a 70. Last year was an 81, so it sort of bumped up last year.
01 Justin: And this year, you know, he's 92 still. But you know what his average was yesterday? 51. No, that's QB rating, I'm saying. Jake: QB rating. No, I know. No, but it's his QB rating yesterday was 51. Yeah, it was 51.9. Well, what I'm saying is if you a good quarterback goes up against good defenses and prevails over them, a bad quarterback or an average quarterback goes up against good defenses and loses. He's going up against good defense and lost. Yes, he beat the Pats. The Pats have the worst defense in the fucking league. Yeah, well, they beat the Eagles. He played well against the Giants. He beat the Pats. He beat Oakland. Justin: Oh Oakland are you serious you see Tim Tebow going crazy yesterday when we, played oakland they took care of us They took care of the sanchi Made him look like such as that's winds and losses man winds and losses is he a good quarterback yes Jake: Is he a wheat no no i don't even i don't even know, why Justin: this person was was getting into it with me about Sanchez vs Fitzpatrick it's silly it's a silly argument. I guess their team was losing and they were upset it's a silly argument I mean you could look at the two guys put them next to each other and say right now yeah they're close But then you gotta put count and take into consideration that this is a third year quarterback versus an eighth year quarterback and he is what he is. That's it. He's not getting better. Sorry guys. Fitsy is what he is. You just gave him all that money. Good. Yeah, he can be average. Jake: He'll be average. You need a better defense because you're not going to win games if you can't stop it. I don't know why, how they are. Justin: I don't know They beat these teams. I don't know how their defenses is not very good and I mean we were able to stop the run. That was it. All right Jake: Let's go on talk about some other games since we got the Monday night game coming up We'll talk about in a second. We'll give a little bit where my stutter dud Matt Forte. Oh, is it Matt now? Matt? You're changing Matt? I'm changing it. Not Joe. Where's Joe? Is Joe like his younger mother? Justin: Joe is... not playing Jake: You know, I don't know why. Here's the thing. The worst part was I knew you were full. I knew you were wrong But like I was like... You had to correct me. No, I was sitting there going No, why don't you correct? I don't know cuz I'm not a dick like you Justin: I wouldn't do that on there cuz make you look so stupid like a bad broadcast Well, you know when you said Fitzgerald instead of Fitzpatrick earlier, I let it go Jake: Are you at that one go? Let it go Fitzgerald Larry. I let it go. All right, there you go Well, but now I'm not no Anyway, so Joe Forte is not gonna do well to know the North Carolina to guard from 10 years ago is not gonna do you look that person up to you know that's no that's what why why Justin: would name for Tay so Joe instead of Matt it Joe and Matt I mean they're common Jake: first thing they have the same what no they have no they're just they're just blah first name oh just okay
03 Justin: All right, Joe Justin, whatever Justin so I got for Tay tonight. I don't care which one Jake: All right, one of them. I love my kicker. I think my kicker put up ten points. So I can't wait to pick a kicker Kill you I'm picking sea bass you do that Alright, so what are the surprising? Justin: Surprising we're in first place Chat tied for fit first place jets. How do you think we're in first? Because I think our record's 5 and 3 and everyone, no one else in our division has a record better than that. We're gonna talk about the next game on Thursday. Jake: But nobody else has a better record than 5 and 3 in the division. We're tied to first with two other teams. First place Jess. Yeah, alright. I want to be able to sit next Monday and say first place Jess. What do the Bills play next week? They play Dallas. But let's talk about that later. What about last? What about this yesterday? Since we're here. Justin: Well, there was a big game at 4 o'clock. Yes. Where the Giants took care of business for New York. They basically had Super Bowl Redux. They did. They took care of the Pats. Jake: Thank you very much. Thank you guys. Giants. science? Justin: forever the love is strong there now thank you very much you there six and two which is what I said they would be yeah now it's time for them to go seven and Jake: nine yeah that's a 49ers this week so we'll say their schedule is not very pleasant um that was a huge game the one o'clock games were awful Justin: They were. They were absolutely terrible. Miami won early off the Schneider. Miami killed Kansas City. I don't know how. They beat them 31 to 3. Matt Moore looks like Dan Marino. They killed him. Suck for luck. Oh, sorry. Oh, whoops. Cincinnati's 6 and 2. How crazy is that? They're ahead of us. So Cincinnati, next week... Is is playing they play both within Pittsburgh. No, they're playing Pittsburgh then Baltimore So are we just rooting for Cincinnati? Oh what to win out? Yeah, go go since he go win that division We can go in the in the playoffs. Yeah, go since you go, right? I just thought it's gonna happen How do I think that's my thing? Jake: That's where to root right root for Cincinnati. So they'll be then you think the Cincinnati be the number one AFCC That'd be great. Wouldn't that be great? They get like a- they get a buy? Justin: Yeah, fuck it. They win the North. They're in, the Ravens are out. That would be great. Or the Steelers are out. 14 and 2. The Steelers are out. Because the Steelers lost last night to Baltimore. Yeah. So the Steelers are out. I guess. But you just know that's not gonna happen. What are the Steelers? The Steelers are 6 and 3 now. Since he's six and two Baltimore six and two I Jake: Think they're all gonna be each other so I think I think well Pittsburgh's already lost to Baltimore twice Right that's over and that's over in their division, right? Justin: So now we want with who's since he playing next week since he was playing Pittsburgh. Okay, we didn't want since II we want since II to win Jake: Cincy get Pittsburgh to six and four. It's all see it's all in their division now great good
03 Justin: I don't want Pittsburgh making the playoffs as well as anything They're gonna get out of there. They might not make it anyway good get out of there all right to find a hard schedule They play Cincinnati This is Pittsburgh. They play Cincinnati. Cincinnati's 6-2. They go to Cincinnati, then they have their bye. Then they have in Kansas City, that's a good win for Pittsburgh. Then they have Cincinnati again. Jake: Well you don't know with Kansas City. They could turn out and be the other, the good Kansas City. Justin: Yeah, I guess Pittsburgh's gonna make the playoffs. I look at the schedule there. At Cincinnati, they have the bye. Then they're at Kansas City. They play Cleveland twice. Then they have, since you're at home, then they play Cleveland at home. Then they go to San Francisco, which can be a tough game, but then they finish up with st. Louis at home at Cleveland Cincinnati hopefully Jake: Too early to start doing that let's win our games All right other games that were big yesterday me on the big ball the Green Bay San Diego game Justin: They shoot out that the shootout for do doubt. That was a good game the Baltimore Pittsburgh At the last minute there, Baltimore pulls it out. Yep. Arizona, St. Louis, big game. Over time, Arizona with the 95-yard punt return to win the game at the end of the game. That's a great way to win a game. Pretty insane, I must say. And San Francisco, what are they now? Are they like 7-1, 8-1? What are they? They're 7-1. They're 7-1. They're going to win their division in about two weeks. Yep. Jake: And they're going to be sitting in the players. At the visits. Justin: Freakin awful. Yeah Jake: Phil Rivers can throw a ton but cannot get it done It's kind of a bummer cuz he not bummer cuz I don't really like Phil Rivers, but Jesus he throws for 385 yards and For touchdown and can't win a game three picks though three picks. Even went for touchdowns. Oh Justin: What is his picks this season? He's got more picks Then he does touchdowns. That's for sure He right now in eight games has thrown for 2400 something yards, which is a lot of yards thrown 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions 14 interceptions Jake: 2400 yards in eight games is pretty damn good. Yeah He's right just 24 60. He's right there. I don't know anybody All right, so one last segment before we go anything in In other kingdoms want to discuss any other news? I mean there was a big Patriots game meaning the Giants one Yeah, it's a good game. I mean it was not a good game. It was this 0-0 great. I have this awesome It's crap game fix but well for us, but I'm saying as a game game I knew if you again, I think I predicted probably a 37 35 game with doing pretty yeah Don't we write down? I don't think we really want to talk about Pixis now because somebody is doing pretty well as of now. Justin: What did we do on the, here. So Miami at Kansas City, I had Kansas City winning, you had Kansas City winning.
02 Justin: So we both lost that one. Both lost that one. No, I picked Miami! No, you didn't. No, you didn't. Oh, I picked Miami to cover. Oh, okay. All right Giants vs. New England We both had the shootout when we both had New England So we're wrong and wrong and I had the Jets scoring 27. Oh, that's good 27 20 you had it 28 24 Oh, so we're the same there Jake: Yeah, not very good, but let's go over here to our checking to pick them and see what's going on here We do that on Thursday. Yeah, let's recap right now. How bad am I? Oh, I'm still in last You're still in that and you're a nice solid last to lay like you're seven points behind the next guy Are those points or those games total? That's total points. Yeah But here's the nice thing right here. The Huns no longer in first. She's tied for first now. And look who's coming up on the thing. Look at you. Look at me putting on 11 this week.
