20 Jake: Welcome to Jet Kingdom podcast, longest running New York Jets podcast. Ever. I'm Jake, joining me for 262 times in a row. Cranky Pants himself. Justin. How you doing Justin? Why are you calling me Cranky Pants? Justin, why is your Cranky? I was complaining about this table because you broke it. I did not. I need to blame me for breaking it. You did break it. Which is complete bullshit. Can we just talk about how everybody hates you when you're driving? Like you were the most hated individual when you drive. I drove to the game last night so we're recording this on Friday the 12th as correct. Yesterday was game one of the pre-season which we attended where the Jets took on the Jaguars, my mighty Jaguars, and didn't look so mighty. No, their starters look good and we Every everywhere we went people were honking at me It started immediately like right in the parking lot in the parking in the garage You got a ride cuz you were pulling out and then just continued all the way to the stadium It was not fun. No, but it was terrible. We did go to a Jets game. How about that? We like went to a game. Football season has arrived. We've attended a football game. It felt like like game light like you know, you can have a good beer, like you go to a brewery and you have like a good beer and then you go and you have like a Miller light and they don't they're they're both beer and they both have alcohol and both of you drink enough of them to make you drunk. But like, they don't, there's one that just doesn't feel satisfying. So like, it came last night, I was like, Oh, they won. I'm like, huh, do I don't really care? I mean, I think they won the game because no one of importance that I care about got hurt. That's the winning factor. And that the offense. It's in little bits and pieces, did something. We were talking yesterday about it and usually, you know, the theory is, you know, preseason doesn't matter, it's crappy, you know, you're playing these different things, you're not even playing your full playbook, you're just sort of like letting guys work out, especially nowadays, especially with no two days, the training schedule's way down, I mean, like, they don't have a lot of time. to practice, preseason is becoming more and more practice. That being said, I was referencing the year, I forgot who the quarterback was, was it the Gino year? I don't know what you're referencing. We did not score a touchdown. Oh, like we didn't have like, I think it was the Tebow year. Was it that year? I believe so. And, and you know, people were like, well, she'd be worried. Oh, it's just
03 Jake: But it turned out that it was something that... throughout the season we had a problem with actually scoring touchdowns. So what happened in the preseason did follow us into the regular season. So in some ways, hey, we scored a couple touchdowns. Our defense made a couple stops, you know. Some people look good, which we're going to talk about. Some people looked not so good. And, uh, well maybe we'll talk about some people who we think are gonna get cut or not. Maybe we'll make some bets. It's a little early for that. Really? Why not? I think it's a tad early, but we can start. So what was your impression of your team? Well, I sat there in the third quarter with you while we were still there. One of like- No, no, no, I meant the Jaguars. Oh, my Jags? Yeah, yeah. Dude, hey, how about that starting offense? It looked pretty good and that defense looked decent too. JAG KINGDOM Just saying. there starting offense played against our starting defense minus Mo Wilkerson minus Dorell Reavis minus McClendon right who didn't play on the line so missing two starting linemen probably They scored a field goal. They did go right down the field and they heard of field goal and But no Reavis to throw on Allen Robinson And, you know, no, no nose tackle, really no, no best lineman, Mo Wilkerson, arguably you could say, you know, Richardson perhaps, but between, you know, them only giving up the field goal and then, but then the next drive, it was the backups against the JAG starters and they went right down the field, right? And Alan Robinson's like, yeah, I'm really good. And Dee Milner, you're just not so much. So I'm just going to catch a couple. pass this year. No biggie. And then it was, you know, Touchdown City for for Mr. Ivory who uh got some got some cheers from from the crowd a little bit. Cheers and cheers. Recognized that he was there. I know no. I mean I was more important. I thought the most important player on the field, the jet, was you know Quigley of course. Well Quigley on the Jaguars. Yeah he is on the jacks. But he... He's not their starting puncher He see they're starting but you're one of two fighting for the the punting position. He punted Well, he punted five times the other guy punted twice me that say yeah, I was punting in the fourth quarter You never know a kicker. Yeah I do know that our our rookie kicker out of Duke missed two field goals and folk didn't miss any field goals Or maybe even attempt any field goals, but he made his uh his extra points. Well, we all know what some folk can do
01 Jake: Yeah, folks like folks just Showing me one for three One was pretty long 54 but they figured he'd make it and he came up short Everybody's like oh, he's got the leg. He's got the leg. He's got a huge leg He didn't have the leg and then didn't have the leg and the other one he was wide right so I liked my jags I still want to stick to your prediction that they're going to win the division. The nothing that I saw yesterday makes me think anything different. When the starters are on the field they looked good. I thought the Jets had a good second drive on offense. When the starters played, you know, they played two drives. the end of the jets now, the jets are not adopted their obviously their first drive was a three L that's not great but then Quincea Nunez who is... I mean he is fast boy. He was wide open. Fitz made not the greatest throw in the universe. But Innuva made a nice catch on that first one and then they basically ran the same exact play up the seam and He hit him in stride on the second one and it was like touchdown city Even though he got down like inside the five, but if he hit him on the first one that was a touch right He was so open And he was really so open again. He was saying, it was almost like, hey, let's just try that again. Practice like, let's practice that again. that again because you missed the throw the first time right and he caught it fine oh yeah he had a way out to get it dive and he fell and he was able to he was so open that he was able to get up so I like that right three or four whatever they went down the field they scored again the two starting offensive lineman not on the field for a not on the field so you know some weapons and some big beef up front not there it's game one whatever got out of there unscathed no major injuries um the one the one guy dominique wilkins dominique wilkins that's kind of funny Dominique Williams Got a concussion. I mean you could tell as soon as it happened He was like waving and then he started running off the field and he just fell just fell down fell by over Got up. It's like dude stay down Let's get it up stay down. You're you are not you're not gonna be good So I don't think the run game was all that impressive, but I think some of their better run blockers, it just wasn't there. You know, they just weren't playing, which is fine. So overall, I think this was a fine effort. I saw what I wanted to see out of Fitzpatrick. I saw what I wanted to see out of some of the defenders on the field, you know, real quick.
00 Jake: Well, two drives. Leonard Williams had a really nice sack. You know, he basically lifted the guard or the center, whoever it was that was blocking him. He lifted him out of the way and said, excuse me, I'm going to go tackle the quarterback and then it's going to be put out on the quarterback. Things fall together. And I think it's one of the things that, you know, there's always the debate of like. If you have shut down corners, then your ability to rush the pass, they have more time because there's no one to throw to, no one's open. Now, there's the other theory, well, if you have amazing, you know, defensive line and ends and linebackers that can get to the quarterback, well, then you don't need to have such because they have no time, so they can't throw. So they're going to throw, you know, off the back of the foot or they can throw quickly. So... But you kind of, we could be in a position where we kind of have both. We have an amazing ability to get to the quarterback, disrupt what he wants to do, keep him out of the pocket, keep him, you know, off his feet. And when he throws the ball, he's throwing into a good secondary the- is it going to be an amazing shutdown secondary? I don't think so. It's not going to be the Rivas-Carmardier, you know, where no one could like throw on Rivas at all, but it'll be good. I'm on the I'm on the I'm erring on the side of optimism. I know obviously Rebus is not what he was five years ago or six years ago, but He's still very good. He's excellent still right still in the top and Then I I just don't think Buster screen who started last night as the outside second corner should be that guy. I think he's more well suited to being in the slot and they had Williams playing in the slot and I think he should get a chance to play on the outside first. I was of the opinion before this game That D. Milliner should be in the discussion and get a a chance as he was slated to be starting cornerback You know two years ago and last year and was picked in the top 10 and was you know A highly touted corner and he looked bad. He looked terrible. He I mean, he gave up a long pass where he was all up in. I mean, he played it well, but like the guy still caught the ball. Right. And then it was a really good catch. Just a great catch. I agree. Unreal. But Milner's like still on my shit list on the on the sideline that too big a cushion. Then there was the really quick pass that Milner like just didn't wrap up and like. tripped Ronta tripped The safety I think it was miles and the guy runs down the sideline for like 40 yards So like he was he was not looking good. He's a hot mess He was but he's always been a hot milk. We've never he's had Flashes, but he's had like a half a game like he's no he's had he's never had a
02 Jake: Dominated game last the last quarter of his rookie season He was looking like okay this this rookie corner is coming around and understanding and then the start of Not last season but two seasons ago at the start he was looking okay And I remember when he blew out his Achilles on a special teams play against Denver It was like damn. He was really like starting to come around And now he's gonna miss this season. And then last season he had whatever in the preseason and missed the first six or eight games. And then was just just never made the field. He just played special teams. If you want to move on to who's on the block. he might be on the block I just think that there's a hard to cut a first round pick though it's very hard it happens and the other guy we picked up this year Burris, right? Justin Burris 4th round pick this year so he played with the threes Yeah, he played wavy I mean, they have a lot of talent so they're not gonna It's kinda like quarterback We didn't get to see Hackenberg because there's a lot of mouths to feed and they'd rather have a look at You know, they don't really need to look at Fitz Clearly No Fitz is just about like warming up The guy missed every single option I imagine he'll still in game two only play maybe one if not two drives at the most Right He knows the offense. He has the chemistry with, you know, the guys that matter. Right. With Marshall and with Decker and with a new one. Right. He has the chemistry with these guys. And if Forte's not playing, then there's no freaking point. Yeah. He's not getting his... He knows the offense cold. He knows it better than anyone. So there's no point in him getting hurt. But they need to make decisions. I mean, we talked about the last night about the quarterback. back we have. I guess it's not a terrible decision to be in to say like, like you could be the Cowboys who have Hurdy Mchertster and some just random dude, I think they have a pick, but that's it. Like your entire offense revolves around a guy who almost every year gets hurt if not once or twice. And then some guy you just drafted and you're like, so we at least have kind of have our old vet who led us to good stuff. We have the guy behind him who got booed twice yesterday. Food in the preseason is never good. But he was just making he was making Geno moves. He was just doing Geno things. And I thought it was interesting. The fans were very they were accurate. I know you hate the booing because you don't pay players. But. But they were accurate. The plays that they were booing, and again, you're in the don't boo, but like, they were booing the performance of the field. It was bad. I just like the sound. You can, you can say, come on, or like, like, you can yell some stuff.
00 Jake: I'm like, booing is just, I don't know, I'd rather hear like, cackling or... Cackling? Guess that's more laughing. I'd rather hear like razzing or just like complaining. That's it. But that's but that's the crowd way of complaining There's no come on No, it's there's a boo which is the fans way of saying what we just saw was not good I don't like it. So I could Anyway, I mean I will boo if I want to boo I think I can I think that they're based on what I saw yesterday There could be a legitimate competition for backup quarterback. You think Petty and Gino have a... Petty looked competent to me. I mean, I don't trust either of them. Right. If it's like do or die time and Fitz is hurt. I don't trust any of the three of the guys that are behind him at this moment. So it does not matter to me. But I think I trust Geno more just because I have seen him play more and seen him... I've seen when he plays well. I can go back to the Falcons game. He did start. Two seasons and he did have an eight and eight season so fine right he can and I but I've seen him play Very good game that Falcons game you weren't there. I was there. I'm sure you watched it. It was a night game I remember it was one of his best games like he played and fourth quarter drive go down win the game like he did the stuff that you want that you look at a quarterbacking like that's what Me I totally understand. I mean maybe something that could make me come around on him would be to see him play with the ones. The ones. Maybe if he played with Brandon Marshall and maybe if he played with Brandon Marshall and Derek Decker on the field at the same time, which he did last year and the starting offensive line. Maybe that could give me like a slight change of heart here. But I don't know if they're because. Again, I was expecting to see a complete shit show from Bryce Petty, and it wasn't. It wasn't a complete shit show. But, but, talk about the things that they make mistakes. The stuff we don't like about Gino is really the head game. He doesn't know, he's not aware of where they are in the field. You need to do what, at what play, what time to take a sack, when it's the time to throw it away, when it's the time to hold on to it. You know the stuff that like you have to have split second and we were actually in the car back But we listened to because we had a chance to rewatch it But we listened to you know, it's like what minute 40 left. They had one timeout is our ball and Down second down he he threw the ball away instead of taking like a five yard So I act just sliding down and letting the clock run and making them burn the timeout right ultimately didn't cost the game again
01 Jake: It's a pretty easy game who gives a shit But it's that type of thing if Fitz gets hurt and we're up. I'm just throwing scenarios. We're up against the Patriots 20 20 against the Patriots 20 20 16 yeah, and in the fourth quarter Fitz gets hurt or knocked out or hurts his arm I mean something not major. I'm not talking about cuz he goes out for the season. This is winning or we losing We're up 23 20 23 to 20. Yeah, then I don't care. I don't care. You don't care. Yeah I need to know that the guy can the not make a stupid mistake like that and give Bell a check back the ball with a minute 30 left. But you know what's good is that he made the mental mistake. Because now they get to talk about it. And he gets to learn from it. And they get to say to him... Hey, look the Jags ran like three plays inside of 40 seconds and you gave them 40 seconds Which didn't have they didn't you know, we gave them that and that's that's on you actually That's not on anyone else. That's your fault Right and almost cost us again because they went right down to I think like 15. Yeah, you need to learn from that, right? but You've only learned by doing and it's your whole thing from last year where you were ready to see petty start getting one last year ready for petty But you can only learn from doing and again hackenberg didn't even see the field Hopefully he might not see the field maybe to the fourth game fourth Well, then they're really taking the long game and they are then geno and petty really are competing because there's no There's no fucking way they're carrying four quarterbacks That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life and they have no allegiance to Geno Smith this organization That exists right now, right? There's no reason to have him on the team unless I eat fourth year completely outright beats bright Bryce petty for the job He's not gonna beat Fitz. They're not even gonna, they're not even gonna give him the chance to beat Fitz. But I think he, I mean, I think if you, again, it's hard to judge because you're watching one guy play against with the second, so one guy play with the third. They have to flip them. They have to flip them around and they have to do it in practice too. They have to flip them around. That's the thing is that, so I, I don't know, you know, you don't read so good, but like... I don't do any reading. I don't know how to read. Everything coming out of camp has been, Gino has looked very good. Right and petty has looked really really bad. That's sort of been the overall I'm giving like the overall opinion petty has not looked good all camp all the minicamps the Manitories the volunteers or whatever he does not look good So I'm actually excited because I saw him play and I was expecting just to come out and look like a schmuck I mean, I'm rooting for the guy just because, hey, he's our quarterback and I think he's more the future than Geno Smith is the future. So but again, the premise of this year is this is a in it to win it all or nothing team in this year or next year. Basically this year, if you look at the team, it's kind of built just to win.
02 Jake: and we have a lot of things to make the win. It's just the thing we don't have is the quarterback. So if you think that this is the built now team to win this year, you kind of have to leave the guy who's at least played more than one game. Like he has more. And I think if it's even, you have to give it to the guy with the experience. Because you have the guy. You have the guy with you don't have to. I just. Again, if you said we're gonna give the season to Petty and then we're fine. Yeah, but one of them needs to be cut. That's actually the facts. So why couldn't Petty go to the practice squad? He can. Okay. You can't put Hackenberg there because he's a second round pick. Petty fourth rounder. You can throw him there. I mean, sure. then you're, I mean, it's the same thing. Then you're wasting a practice squad on a quarterback that you'll probably never need. Well, let's move on to some other positions. But I feel if you had to rank it right now, it's the rank that they went into that game. It's Fitz, Smith, Petty, and then Hack and Project. Which I was upset that we didn't get to see because I would have liked to see him play. Yeah, we'll see him play a game for her. Great! I can't wait to see him play. And whoever wins that, I... here's the thing. If Gino wins the backup spot, he probably won't play a game for it either. Right. Now, if they're still competing... then he will be playing in game four. You'll know then if there's a real competition for that backup spot, cause Patty and Gino will both be playing. Yep. Let's talk about the, I think more interesting battles. There's really a battle going on. There's more interesting battles than backup quarterback, are you serious? Though, why receiver? You think that that's a interesting battle? Yeah, it actually is. We have. Obviously the top two let's call it three locked. I think our Marshall's Decker Inua, that's it. That's a that's a pretty good three. That's I think that's a good three I think Quincy Anunwa is a very solid number three wide receiver in the NFL. Absolutely. I totally agree and Yeah, no, absolutely great. So then There's all this other. So there's Peek, who we picked up this year from Crafts in the 7th round. We have caught a nice touchdown. 4 year pro Ross. Special Teamer. We have Jalen Marshall, who's like the he's the everybody loves him in training camp. He's making great moves. I was not impressed. You weren't impressed with like an 89 yard. Talking about a receiver playing wide receiver, not playing special teams. I would like to have. I think Terrence Ross is or sorry. Terrence. God, that's another guy. Jeremy Ross is a better special teams player. and I was just not impressed by Jhin and Marshall. They're gonna go as a receiver. I feel like they're gonna go with Young Upside versus Vett pretty much anytime.
06 Jake: I think that so... I think if you watch the game on television... Yes, we will. I will eventually. Might be on an iPad, but okay. When they... Like maybe with some replays or slowed down... There were a couple of passes to that come to mind one I think they might have both come from Gino one definitely came from Gino and the other one might have been from Patty To Jalen Marshall who is playing in the slot just where he would play Oh, we're leaving out just leaving out Tompkins by the way. Yeah, you didn't even play out, but he hurt he was hurt Yeah, both hamstrings. So we got some guys and Devin Smith by the way Right. Dev and Smith, we don't feel he's going to make back for training. We feel like he's going to stay out until week six. When he's available to come back, he's going to come back. They're not going to just leave him off the team. But Jalen Marshall alligator armed a couple of passes over the middle, which is like, Hey kid, like... catch the ball Like yeah, you're gonna get hit. It's called professional football and get hit So give me your give me your night of the game Since there's no winners or losers and priesties like who do you think like stood out to you? Oh You know, I just I love Quincy noon woman, I just love this kid I loved him last year. I said on this podcast when he got suspended for the four games, it was going to hurt. It's going to hurt in the run game and it did. It's going to hurt in the passing game. It did. He's so fast. He's so big. He's a good blocker. He's versatile. You can line up in the slot and block. He can sort of play tight end. He's the de facto tight end because tight ends just don't exist in our offense. And he he's just super versatile and fast and his hands are getting better. Like that catch he made was really good catch. He did have a few drops last year that were like, why you got that ball? So I'm going to go with him for his, you know, two big catches. I think he's going to be like a big play option for us. And he's going to be that guy who's. Who's gonna be opening the scene like a lot of tight ends are right you watch a game With a good tight end and there's it's like how the fuck are they open over the middle constantly? Let me ask you a question. Yeah off the top your head. How yeah, how many touchdowns did he have last year? Hum, I guess is probably less than two maybe zero zero Yeah, but that's okay. He's a move the guy. That's fine. I mean it was it was very versatile. He's a good blocker It was an article about What what top receiving duo? Was the most productive last year and what what the stats were showing was that fits really focused? on on marshall and decker and that they caught everything i mean to touch down their numbers or everything and he should because they're both very good they are but it'd be nice to spread i
05 Jake: mean a there was no titan last year that's why that's why anunwa was so open i mean that's the thing if you're gonna if if if you're gonna focus on marshall and double him on the side well then the noon was gonna run right up the middle and be like a tight end, but faster. Yep. He's like Delaney Walker in that way. If you look at Delaney Walker, he had a crazy season last year. He had a four, four, five, 40 or dead. Yeah, he's super fast. One of the Izzik 12. And he's a big boy. He's six, two, two, two, one. The Izzik 12. Look at the Izzik 12 coming around. Calvin prior is one of the edsig 12 Quincy noon was one of the edsig 12. That's two that I care about So I guess we have to talk about isn't Dakota dojiro I think started last night at right guard one of the edsig 12. He might have been terrible All right. So do you think didn't impress who's the guy you like? I already ragged on D milliner Yep, I think that was just a piss poor performance from him So I guess I'll just stay there. I did want to give a shout out to special teams, even though they missed two field goals. That's, you know, to me, kicking field goals. And there's like the kicking game and then there's the return game. And then there's, I guess, the coverage game. I thought in all aspects. Outside of just missing two field goals that special teams unit looked I Mean that is that is the way to get the offense going right get your ass out to the 50 All right, let's out to the 10. Yep. We'll score touchdown from the 10 Well at least put points on the board right drive 80 yards down the field every goddamn time and the same thing goes with, you know, the punter looked good. I don't know which of the guys punted last night, but I assume they'll like start switching off. But anyway, yeah, I shout out to them too. He was drafting a 6th round, Anua. Anua? Yeah, I think they drafted like... three wide receivers in the in the fourth through sixth rounds that year he had like five six round picks or something and he also picked that uh remember the quarterback is it was yeah the Clemson quarterback Clemson quarterback that Taj Boyd yeah he actually was up to one quarterback was he on Steelers I think he made his dealers for one second. I thought he was like in the Canadian League or something. Jalen Marshall is my guy. Again, just all the stuff I've been hearing about him in a training camp. He had one kick return. I understand, but it was impressive. Ross also had a very impressive kick return. Not as impressive. It was doubly impressive. I'm not just thinking from the game again. I've heard through training camp reading all the reports You know I haven't watched because it's sources sources sources telling me that he's been doing amazing things
02 Jake: So I'm kind of a herd and I heard he's great and drafted kind of like that It's a little little crebet ish to me. I like that crebet caught balls over the middle When you were when you were allowed to get crunched in his first year under first place preseason game having Geosmith thermal ball. I don't know about that. I don't know I didn't watch that back when you're allowed to get crunched over the middle That little guy went in there and caught everything and then if I have to make a guy Like if I have to switch my from my guys, I have to make my other guy the guy like Just didn't do shit, which is Amaro and I you love you have this little little Amaro for some reason I don't know why you think he's just Because when he came when he was drafted the position he was drafted It was I think a year that like a lot of tight ends went two or three tight ends three Maybe I think he was the third tight end taken and just the idea listen we live in a world that that People are looking at the grongs of the world and the year before that The analysis is flipping the guys flipping my name. They got in Seahawks We're having the big versatile strong tall fast like Tight-end who's a pass catching tight end is is part of the league and so it's so we've never had that We haven't had that since I mean, how far do we have to go back and back again? Well that's 2012 you played until the 2012 season Yeah, you haven't had him for 13 for you haven't had him in three seasons So it's been three seasons of so long ago for three seasons of city Time since the Jets won the Super Bowl right forever ago. They need a three seasons not forever That's why I'm excited about Jason. But Jason Maro can't catch the ball And I'm trying to say that he can but but he can't oh even yesterday That was a terrible terrible like it wasn't a great throw and it was coming from a third or fourth string quarterback And it was a tough throw, but I feel like a Good. Did he have a target? Yeah. No, we had three targets Oh, he missed that one. Yeah, really should have caught that it was down the sideline I should have thought it down the zone wasn't in the end zone. I think he was Pretty sure he was he was Anyway, so that's why I'm excited about it. That's why whatever you had three targets zero catches awesome great. You're awesome, dude
01 Jake: Yeah, so fucking awesome Best the best all right pronounce that receivers name which one peak I'm gonna say peak. Yeah, how do you pronounce his first name? Is it? Sharon is it Charin Charon Charlie I think that's a generic, he doesn't even have a picture in a film network or an NFL game. Well yeah, because he was the Clemson, the last round of the Clemson pick, right? Is it the last rounder? Yeah. out. Feel like he's got out of Clemson. He's 6 2 Look pretty tall. He looked taller than that, but whatever He had four catches for 45 and the touchdown not bad. Yeah caught a Gino pass Well when he can be ends up not bad. All right, so are we are we done with this thing? I think we're done. So what's up next week who we play next week. I don't even know good job. Good job, buddy You know I know, you don't know, you're clicking around on the internet just like I am. I'm on my way to Washington, oh dammit, it's just me. We play in I on the 19th, which would be a Friday night. Yes, it is Friday, the 19th. Friday, Friday night lights. 730 Washington then the next week we play the Giants he meant at home on a Saturday Which will be the real game and then we play our normal game for against Phil against Philly who no one cares about No, we always play always play Philly always always a Thursday. I guess it's just to keep it close Is that the theory like no Giants always play the paths Ravens play the Saints. They're close. No But the Giants always play the Pats. The Bears, Browns. The the Jets always play the Eagles. Broncos Cardinals not that close. That's pretty close. Yeah it is. Uh, well it's not Jets Giants close. 49ers, Chargers okay. Nobody else plays in the same stadium today. Seahawks Raiders, uh really? Are there teams that play in the same stadium? No stadium? No, I think it's a- Yeah. Jaguars, Fountains. Why wouldn't Jags play Dolphins? Maybe you try and go AFC, NFC if you can. Maybe. I think that actually makes sense. If you look at all the Nashams. Yeah. Not that close. Yes they are. They're very close. It's less than an hour flight. Easy. Yeah, but it's not like, it's not that close. It's probably just as close for like the Jets to get to Philly as it is for the Bills to get to Detroit Buffalo's way the hell over there. Yeah Seahawks Raiders cuz there's no one around the Seahawks
03 Jake: I think there's an AFC NFC team do you do you match up thing? Do you see any like AFC AFC NFC? I bet it's an AFC NFC thing Just to get you out of your conference. There's Panthers. There's the one that's not close Why is that not close and then they're on fucking chartered flights right but I'm thinking a close That's not next door redskins Buccaneers not close. They're five states away from each other States are just so tiny Maybe you need to go look at a map. I know what it looks like. You're being absurd. Yeah, I miss all right So we play next week. I know we gonna We have travel coming up travel issues the games not till Friday night next week So like there's nothing to podcast about until after the after the game. We have that one day game. Oh Man, where it's a little weird The way that this is gonna work out in the pre our preseason schedule is gonna be a little wonky cuz the games are Fridays And Saturday is so only thing is to make sure we get on We have to get the pick them out there if you we got to get the drat the the fantasy thing out there No, no, I'm saying we have to get the the the good episode where we pick every game Oh, well that we need to do right so that'll be the next step. That's maybe that's after game three After you've seen the starters play a little bit. We usually do it after four before the season starts Well, yeah, we have like a week and a half between the end of preseason and the beginning of the regular season. We'll be back. By the way, yeah, just to mention this on the podcast, I mentioned it to last night while we were watching the game. Okay. Watching Patty and I was saying, oh good, he's in the huddle. And oh good, he's taking snaps from under center. Yes. And I was like... That's actually like a thing like that's that's progress. Oh, you're gonna mention that for for well I've anyone who's watched hard knocks or who hasn't watched hard knocks yet I don't really want to ruin it for you. But if you haven't watched you could you could Thanks for downloading. Thanks for listening to the majority of the podcast you can you can hit stop now, but So it's on the Rams and they're out in LA and they've got Jared Goff the first overall draft pick in this year's draft These right now he's not the starter. He's not slated to start Case Keenum is slated to be the starter for however long that's gonna last But as I saw it, it's really for however long It's going to take for golf to actually turn into a professional quarterback because they made him look so bad, not like bad in terms of like he has a terrible arm because he can certainly throw the ball and it looked like he was kind of a hard worker, but he's a doof. Like they made him kind of look stupid and they made it rather clear and very like very clear like this is what happens when in high school and college they had never huddle and they'd never
01 Jake: call to play in a huddle and they showed him calling to play in a huddle and it was as though he's never played football in his life. It was unbelievable. Check that out if you have HBO, check out Hard Knocks. I'm sure most people who listen to this watch Hard Knocks. And it's amazing how that skill and commanding the huddle is so important. Amazing. I mean, it, it, it, I was, I was kind of speechless when I saw it. I was like, man, that, that show, I mean, we're, we're talking to another show. If you didn't know what you should know, but, um, Amazon's all or nothing with the Cardinals from last year. Very good. Very good show. I mean, it is just, it's basically, it's basically hard knocks for the regular season. Instead of doing training camp crap, they do full season crap. And apparently, the rumor is, we were working up last night, they might actually stick with the Cardinals and do another season. So it's kind of consistent, unlike Hard Knocks, which jumps from team to team. So when they come back, they're going to kind of have all the storylines that already happened and then you can kind of go back and start those storylines again. I wouldn't mind that. I mean, if it were on like the Patriots, I think I'd puke in my mouth, but like... At least the Cardinals like, okay, I'm a girl, but we play them this year. So actually that would be, that's the best reason for them to stick with the Cardinals because we play them and, and the Holy of Seas plays them. So we get to see them play the Patriots, the Dolphins, the Bills and us. That would be fun. I don't really feel like they're going to do well this year. I don't know. I feel like they got, there's a couple of games in there. They got very lucky. like extremely lucky games especially we're watching that and we should watch that all right we'll be back we'll do whatever we're going to do remember to join the jet kingdom pick up i started that up again that's on yahoo you hit me up on twitter if you don't know how to get to that um that's where we pick every game against the spread we'll talk about it throughout the season we'll talk about who's winning who's losing so if you want to be talked about Make up a funny name, that's the Jet Kingdom Pick'em. The Jet Kingdom Fancy League is back. I don't think we need anybody because I think everybody's joining. This is pretty cool, everybody's still sticking around. But if someone drops out, I'll post it and you can join in. That's a have to have a jet on your roster, cannot play against another team that the Jets are playing that week. and this year, because Gareth said it so, it's a full PPR. That's a full point per reception league, which I've never played a full point per reception, so it'll be kind of interesting. It really makes wide receivers, obviously, hugely valuable in those running backs that catch the ball. And then we'll be back. We'll do all our stuff before the season, and then we'll kind of get back into our Go mode. Until then, as always... Justin J saying let's go jets
