00 Justin: a the Jake: - I'm Jake joining me 258 times consecutively Mr. Justin. Justin: There's gonna be some just random f bombs in this. Jake: So just to let you know A's been a month a month so hi everybody. Hi everybody. That's South Park. Tally. No, it's uh, Mr. So annoying. Because I was right and you were wrong. And it's just showing you how right I was. So we're watching the Bills game, the second one. We're watching the full recap on game gameplay. Justin: Stupidly, we're watching last year's week 17 debacle. Jake: Right. Basically the end of our season, which I think really brings us back to where we are as a team, which is nowhere different from where we left off because we didn't play because we have no quarterback. Anyway. We're exactly where we left off. What would you. I don't know what I would have liked. Justin: ' You don't have a stand on this one. Jake: Yes I do. What's he So but we needed we know none of that now Justin: So we are in the position where we go in the first year Jake: Anyway, if we saw him play 16 games, we would have known like we knew as such as we knew yes we did Well, we knew he was good enough he was here's what we knew don't interrupt me We knew at the end of the first season that we weren't gonna go draft another quarterback for the next season, right? We went right back in this next season
21 Justin: and did well again. We knew we had a guy. Now You No, I don't think you can evaluate a guy Yes, as we knew we had our-. James Winston, they're not drafting quarterback this year. No, and they believe don't you think that they may have their guy for that's why they Evaluated on how many years but how many years a day for one year again? Are you saying? Yeah that through the one year of Sanchez You didn't say damn. There's our guy Jake: Absolutely we did. And I'd be a liar to see. But that's the point, is that it, yes, is that we had the chance to at least see him. And we did say, damn that's that guy. And we were the most pumped up Sanchez loving people going into year two. And anybody says differently, the liar. Justin: And after year two, even better. Yes. Jake: And did we go in and draft a quarterback that year? Justin: But what if Sanchez... When 8 and 8? Jake: When? Justin: Work a year. Jake: Oh, we would have probably kept him for the second year anyway. Justin: And then he does the same, you know, maybe another 8 and 8. Jake: Well, now you're questioning, right, now you're like, well... What do you do? Is he the problem or not? What do you do? You probably give him one more year and then you draft a guy. Wow. It's just the facts. Like you gotta keep going. But here's this guy on the screen about to throw, News, D-brick, we got signing of Clady, or trading for Clady. Trading for Clady. Mo, we got the Mo Wilk trade rumors. Big news. Chew gum and talk. All right, so we'll talk about to that what you don't schedule and then we'll talk about the draft Again things you could have been doing for the last five minutes All right, so let's get to it Biggest news is to break a sure Ferguson say it right D-brick ten years retired
00 Jake: off the roster, cap savings, feelings on the leaving of D-Brick. So the rumors are out there. There's some rumor mongers, and I guess probably Minish Mehta is probably the one... Some people are saying... Dick. He has a dick. Still a dick. Justin: I have my own theory on this. Jake: That... well, I don't think there's much of a... I don't feel like this is like who shot JFK. This is like, hey, the guy who's gonna be paid a lot of money. And we thought we could get a guy for less money and maybe not downgrade. That's it. Justin: But that's not why someone retires. You would have to cut a guy. Jake: Right. But here's here. Come. Well, you retired because he wants to be part of the Jats organization and because he wants to end his thing and he wants to end his career at the Jats and. Justin: I have a different take. Jake: Is it the concussion theory? Yeah. That he went and saw a concussion? Yes. And then decide he wasn't gonna play anymore Why did he wait so long? Justin: Why did he wait so long for what? Jake: To retire. He could retire 4 seconds after the season Justin: He waited because he was probably waiting to see if the Jets were going What they were going to do Jake: That doesn't make sense If he was gonna retire because of concussions, why didn't he just retire? Justin: I believe he was waiting to see if the Jets were gonna approach him about taking a pay cut or not What they did. And then he decided to retire. Jake: Which has nothing to do with concussions. Justin: Yeah it does, because it's like, do I want to put my health on the line for $14 million guaranteed? Or do I want to put my health on the line for like $3 million? And there's a huge difference. So when someone comes to you and says, hey I know he's sending you contracts. Jake: So for $14 million he'd be a, he could be a drooling idiot for the rest of his life. but for three million dollars. and the 78 million that he earned through his lifetime. Justin: the the information about the long term and a fax of playing football and he's been lucky and really lucky to be as healthy as healthy could be you never missed a snap he missed one snap on a trick play. Right. He never missed a snap because he was injured ever and Basically, he's like, you know what? if if they're gonna come at me and Try to use me like like like we don't have a contract. I'm just gonna retire Jake: But why is everything doing I mean I get it I feel like the concussions is just piece of the pie. I don't think it's that big of a piece of the pie it because Justin: There's definitely an impact there and he retired he didn't make us cut him he retired he retired with dignity I'm sure he'll be in the media relations or community relations. Yeah office of the Jets whenever he feels like it I
07 Jake: Wonder if he'll be in the ring of honor right and I was what I think so like hall of fame No, no, not even not never gonna be in the hall of fame. Not a question. Not even whatever. Not even on the final ballot. Nothing. Um, you know, Jett's Ring of Honor, I mean, he'll definitely get like this year, he for something, right for like a retirement much later, a couple years later, they don't do that immediately. They don't. Well, I mean, it's fairly Justin: new thing. Jake: Well, yeah, but well we have like guys who've retired let's see who haven't been any really would go in the ring of honor Justin: that retired Jake: Since the stadiums been built really right I feel like it's not gonna I think it'd be a couple years Justin: Would have to be like tied at the hip almost with that Mangle's better player right has been yeah player the brick plays a harder position in theory again I don't know what that Jake: with more, the heart position center is a very you know Justin: left tackle. Jake: Okay. Justin: Agreed drafted in the top 10 left tackles, right? No centers. No centers, although draft in the first round Jake: centers Justin: Agreed they're definitely I don't know. It's an interesting one. I mean just feelings on D brick like I Think he was great. He was definitely slipping and maybe he maybe the other aspect was he wanted to finish at a high level and he played a good season he didn't want to get hurt he played his whole career for one team which is admirable I mean rare it's very similar like Calvin Johnson right man he just retired yeah I feel like he was closer to the top of his game than D brick was to the top of D bricks game Jake: Oh, I would actually I'd probably say no. I'd probably say like I feel like Calvin Calvin Johnson dropped off tremendously in the last two years Right, but D brick really I think he started and no one was saying like I Don't know. I don't feel like people were saying that D brick was like really dropping off the plant I mean just as just as what do you measure by was the team a good run team? And did the guy get sacked a lot? Fitzpatrick did not get sacked a lot. Right? And the team was a good run team. Uh, yes. I mean, I know it's... Justin: By all accounts, he's... He slipped a little bit. Jake: He was slipping a little bit. Where in the stats would you show that? Justin: Uh, you'd have to show sack rate, or which way they ran, or whatever. Yeah, but you know what I'm saying. Jake: But we watch games.
00 Jake: We watch every game once or twice. Justin: What's the thing with it? Jake: I don't remember ever thinking like, oh, here. Oh, my God. D brick. They're going to freak. You know, that guy's going to come around the edge and destroy him. I never thought that he was solid. Justin: Yeah. The thing about offensive lineman is is the. The negative is always in your face. You know, the holding penalty. Right. Fall start that kills you on the road. Jake: It's just don't think he was doing that like that was not him Justin: That's one way to measure. I bet he had more penalties this year than he's had in his career In any other season, but you know the hold at 10-yard holding call that Five-yard fall start on third and two on the road, which is a bummer that's what you you don't ever really like watch the game and see you know the offensive linemen often get called out for great blocks yeah announcers will do it because the good analysts will get in there and they'll be like what a block by whatever to spring whoever but more often than not it's like oh Willie cologne with another holding penalty or something stupid you know Jake: I just don't I mean again I watched a lot of you I don't remember him being called out I don't remember him slipping specifically the team has been a good run team and I feel like last year Fitzpatrick got sacked at a very very low rate I remember them saying that towards the end of the game like he's not getting sacked in fact that team the team we're just watching and the first time didn't even sack him and they had pass rushers. So I, again, I feel like he went down and he wasn't really falling off a cliff. Justin: I think he was, you know what, though, we made a trade. Jake: Let's talk about it. Justin: We made trade with Denver. And we traded very similar to the year prior. the the brand Marshall trade we traded for Ryan Clady Jake: the Justin: we traded our fifth round pick to Denver for Ryan Clady and their seventh round which is basically the exact same trade that we did with the bears the year prior Jake: Any ups or downs on that based on playing time, do we know? Justin: Do not know. I think it's pretty straight up. Jake: So he's 29 years old. Yeah. Ninth season. He's, you know, typical guy. Six, six, three, fifteen has had injury issues. Has the last three has been good. When he's good, he's he's better than the rest. Like he's pretty darn good. Right. When he's not sitting on the bench, he's not as good. Justin: He's hurt when he's not hurt. Jake: He's all pro. So it's. If he works out as well as the if he works out one tenth as good as the as the marshal trade I don't know what that would mean But but marshal came in stop playing with the stop playing with the mic. Shut up, dude Justin: Stop playing the mic stop playing with it. Shut the fuck up. Stop playing with it
00 Jake: He's so stupid. Shut the fucking mouth. Don't make me play this game. It make you feel so stupid. I will kick you in the teeth There we go. Let's keep going this game So you can see. Game's awesome. Yeah. Oh, yes. I love this game. Yeah. Justin: It's my favorite game. Jake: No, I'm not going to lie, because you're too distracted. You're like a fly. So you, what do you think? Good? Not good? Justin: Low risk, higher reward. Jake: Doesn't stop us drafting one. No. I think it stops us strapping one. It like moves us down a few rounds. Wherever we were going to pick one like now the need goes from like super super high need to like, I think we can get by for a year or two with a more of a developmental guy. I think they should pick one Justin: in the first round. Really? Yeah. I look at the roster. And it's a spot that needs If you want to be more than one year at a time thinking it's a spot that needs a first round draft pick And it needs it now Because well the real spot that needs a first round draft pick is quarterback. Yeah, but that's unrealistic because of where we pick so Well, I'm not sure there's no there's no Marietta Winston. There's no I think he's a real injury risk. He's great when he plays but he hasn't played a lot in the last three seasons. I think I had read how many games he had missed. It was incredible. So... Alright, so... And Jocamini's no... Give me a grade. A... Jake: A through F. Grade the trade. Justin: It's a really good one year. That's a good question. I'll give it a B plus. It's a really good one year low risk because they redid the contract. It's $3 million guaranteed for an all pro left tackle if you place. That is an unbelievable value. And then if you draft a guy, you don't have to, you know, it's a one year rental on the guy basically. Jake: Um... Next up, Rumor Mill. So we have a guy on our roster right now who we just actually watched in the game go off with a broken leg. Mo Wilk. Yes. And you and I talking the other day with another Jess fan. You were like, we should trade him. That's it. Just trade him. Get him out of here. Justin: I actually think if that was a proper partner that we should trade. Jake: So there's a rumor that Chicago is in... Is someone who? Well the deal is that well the rumors are that the Jets won't take anything less than a first Right well that's like he's a first And I think if we get him in the first I think it's one of those years where you pick up
00 Jake: I don't know where the Chicago's first pie high I guess we can figure it out in the peak, although just coming off an injury, I think that's where it's maybe stopping things. Because like, how do you know what he's going to be like next year? You know, some guys come back in the year, some guys doesn't, not a year. He did get hurt in the last effing game. So it's not like he got broke his leg in the first game. And then you feel like, you know, he got a year. It's the last game of the year. He says he's going to be ready to go. He'll be ready. But like to last year. Justin: Yeah. Jake: And then he did this. He was right. And then he did this. Actually, he wasn't ready for training camp. Remember when in training camp they brought him in real slow. Justin: He wasn't ready for OTAs. Jake: He was ready for training camp. Yeah, so I'm like trying to. Justin: Where do the bears pick? Jake: I'm going to find that out right now. The bears pick. 11 wow it's really weird that you just have that on top of your head. I mean for someone who's so stupid You like that you're like rain man fucking rain man. Love the round Justin: Verma look you do it and and hope you'd hope one is you. You'd hope one of the top three quarterbacks drops Or you pick that there are three. I there are I think what I would do is I would I Would maybe draft the tackle there you're gonna get a better one right and There's also this, this, uh, this linebacker from Notre Dame. Jake: So it's Wentz and Joff. Justin: Joff, Joff's the one I think they, no, which is the one from the small school? Jake: Uh, which is North Coast 8? Justin: Wentz. Yeah, Wentz is the one they went up to get, I think. Jake: Well they actually, they haven't, they haven't, they haven't come out yet. I'm just looking I'm seeing fine first I Yeah, I guess not. It's kind of, it's kind of, oh, Paxon Lynch. Yeah, whatever. But that's the one that I think everybody has the jets taking. Justin: We're not taking it. Jake: I'm telling you, they, they, really? Justin: I don't think we are. Jake: Well apparently we're far off from, from, the Fitz thing has not worked out. Well by the way, I mean we, I don't think we've talked since, but there's all these about. you know, teams flying back and forth around. I think now we talked about Suckches is at is at the Broncos. Kaepernick went nowhere. He's not going anywhere. No, I know. And I don't see why they would. We wanted Kaepernick to go because Kaepernick went for right around. Eight nine million dollars. I think that made the argument that hey jets are in the right range for fits He wants like 12 13 no well, I know
03 Jake: This is I-am giving I'm giving I'm giving I'm giving my cabin some good props because it's so far I feel like this has been he's done a good job like every time it feels like he can't do anything He kind of makes a maneuver Justin: If you think you're worth $12 or $13 million, go get it. Yeah. Go get it. Dude. No one's holding you here. Jake: See you week 17. Justin: Yeah, dude. No one's holding you here. Jake: Maybe you'll play against us week 17. Just go get it. There's literally no one here. Is there any amount of money you would take him in for? So now that you're hyped of getting RG3, went to Browns, that's what you wanted to happen last time. Did not happen. Justin: I was looking for the big upsack. Jake: So there's really no one out there. I mean, it's like that fricking guy from. Tampa Bay or I mean this is like there's no one there's nothing. It's it's a trash. It's a trash fire Justin: Right, you know, it's what's interesting is every team kind of has their starter Jake: Except for Broncos Broncos do not have a starter. No, no, they have money Well, they had at least seven eight million dollars because they were gonna pay that to Kaepernick Justin: If they're gonna offer Fitz $7 million, I would sign Fitz for $7 million for one more year. Jake: So that's interesting. So it's really more about the money for you. Justin: Correct. Why am I paying him like, you know, average starter money when he's below average? Jake: Um, yeah, we even hate million dollars again. I just feel like all right. So let's see Nine Denver has nine million dollars. So do we Justin: parent in the same place Why isn't Denver just signing him because he Kajar has have 53 million in cash space Jake: Okay, I mean I'm I I just really don't I I don't want they don't I don't want fits on the team because I don't think He's he adds any value to us winning any more games to see which We're a fucking hard time winning games next year So let's talk about that now as we move on to the 2006 schedule which came out last night with great fanfare Justin: 2006, huh? Jake: 16, schedule. So we're gonna go through it. We can talk about the schedule. It's kind of fun. So we knew the opponents, obviously. We didn't know all of the schedule. We're not gonna make true predictions. We're not gonna do the game by game predictions, but we're gonna talk about some of the highlights or lowlights as you were. Justin: Let's just talk about the highlights. Jake: Well, opening, first of all, opening September 11th, 15th year anniversary, you know that they'll make a big deal about that. that. Justin: I remember the 10th year anniversary of the year against the Cowboys. Jake: Revas picked six. Wait, six? Pick six? No, he just picked it. Yeah. Justin: He baited him. Jake: It was on turning point. I remember watching it. It was so good. Justin: It was the first ever turning point. Jake: Um, so opening against the Bengals at home. It's a toughie. We've opened seven years in a row at home. That's actually kind of nice. I like that Let me just sorry I'm jumping over the place such a dick no no dolphins open at
06 Jake: Seattle week one week two at Patriots Yeah, I mean Yeah, hello and two and then you hit one more and you're kind of out like you that third game whoever they play in week Three, it's not us That's gonna be a big fucking game for them. It better be like the Browns or something because they're in trouble on week three They can't fucking get that done Alright, so So bengals red rocket Justin: It's a good team. They were a good team. It's a very good team. They're you know, they haven't really changed anything like there's been no I mean, I think that's a few guys like perfect. No, they lost Who they was some receivers the Jake: Terrible very good defense. I feel like that's a tough game like I feel like cuz I feel like they're a team that plays well in Justin: September, but it's a rough and tumble game. Yeah Jake: And again, they have the right they'll have a good defense. It's not a top 10 defense But there'll be a good defense Then short week go on the road to the bills which is terrible. Thursday night. First Thursday night of the season, got the bills. Bills swept us last year. Justin: The bills have won like eight of them last time. Jake: It's now not only Ryan, it's Ryan and Ryan and company up there. We'll see who they start a quarterback. Justin: They're going to start Tera Taylor. Why would they not? Jake: I'm not. Well, we'll see. I'm not loving this. That's not, I mean, well, you know that Rex Ryan's kind of like playing for his life. I love it. It's his second season and they're, everybody's like, if he doesn't win, even though the playoffs, that guy's getting fired like the minute they don't make the playoffs. If they don't make it in week 10, Justin: he's fired. Because the Bills have such a rich history. Exactly. They haven't been in 14, 15 years. Jake: So I don't, so that's not great, but then you got some time. Then you go up against the Chiefs at the Chiefs. Justin: It's terrible. Jake: It's terrible. That's truly terrible. Justin: The first seven, we could be 0 and 7. We could be 0 and 7. Jake: So we have at the Chiefs. We had some time there between... Actually, do you know what the best part of our schedule is? The bi-week? Yes. That's a week 11. So then we come back and we play Seahawks at home. At least we're playing them at home. I mean, it'll be a nice sunny day, whatever. You've already said you want to go to that game, so we'll do that. Then we go at the Steelers. That's terrible. Then we go at the Cardinals. That's terrible. A Monday Nighter. Uh, no. Sunday night? What night is that?
01 Jake: Oh, ESPN. Monday Nighter at the Cardinals. Then we come back and have the Ravens, who will be on their bounce back year. They'll be good next year. Ravens will be good. Then we get a little bit of a layup here. We get the Browns. Okay, I'm not, I'm honestly not too worried about that. But this will be like week eight will be like where they know whether RG3 is the guy or not. Right, so he would be playing or you got some rookie in there. Then you get at the dolphins. Justin: Then the Rams and then you got the Rams at home mention all these these Primetime situation well, we have five or talk about that. We have five time time by and three out of the four games Post bye week our prime timers, right? The other ones at four o'clock So it's like, we're kind of being put in the spotlight. Jake: I mean, well, okay, so two things I like about the schedule. I like going into the buy wait, like a week 11 buy, that's nice. And then we have a buy and then the Patriots. So that's great, because that's like, you get time to repair. Little health. And then you play them at night. So, okay. At home. I think that's good. I think the crowd's going crazy. I think we're excited. If we're anywhere in contention, that could be a good game. Justin: Yeah. If we're close to them record wise, that's going to be a... Jake: That'll be a great game. And we can pick them. I mean, no matter how good they are, we always have the chance of taking them. Justin: We always play them very tough. They tend to win more than they lose, but you play them tough. Jake: Right. right. I mean, right. Then we have the Colts on Monday night. So two two night games in a row or whatever. Justin: We've played Andrew Lock twice and he's never looked good against us. That's true. Two different coaches. Jake: Then roughness. Play a Monday night game, I guess at home. And that's why then go on the road. 49ers. I think 49ers will be terrible next year. Don't really care. Whatever We you and I need to figure out how to get to San Francisco for the December government game We got to do that then we play Dolphins on a Saturday night That'll be fun cold my wife will hate it Then we play on Christmas Eve Justin: We play the Patriots. Oh, you know, I really don't like how this is falling out this year with week 16 and 17 being Christmas Eve and New Year's Day. These are usually days that I'm not around. Jake: Yeah? Well, one's on the road. I'm considering going up to the Patriots game. Justin: No, I'm not worried about the whole, like, going to the game. I'm worried about, like, just watching the game. Jake: at all You're a terrible fan you won't make it right and then that's your one game your jet your bills game
00 Jake: Okay, so then bills at home I hope it really means as much as it meant last year. Oh, yeah. Revenge factor. Justin: Everybody in our division plays the same damn schedule except for two games. So Everyone has it just so happens. We're playing Probably the best division in the NFC which is the West I mean Let's think Seattle and Arizona, you know are gonna be good. Yeah I don't know if they're gonna be good or not. Chip Kelly going on there though. And we didn't beat the past year. With Sam, Edward, and whatever. I feel like I- Right, that's true. And then... The Rams with probably a rookie quarterback, so I'm not all that worried about that. I feel like rookie quarterbacks should be beaten uh and then The AFC North is of hard fucking division the the Bengals the the Bengals the Steelers and the Ravens are good. Jake: Well, and out of that group, that's usually the group that's fighting for like two of the three spots in the playoffs. Justin: Again, probably the best AFC division. Jake: Yes. Justin: Eh, the West is... I mean, I think the North, because there's these three teams. They're always very good. Jake: And then one team that's always terrible. Justin: Tough man tough and then our two extra games are not Easy games at the second place schedule you got the Colts Which is not you know not simple. I I think you know Rather not play the Colts in that division, although Hot take I think Jacksonville is winning that division this year. So there you go I'll put money on that right now. And then what's the other one that we're playing that I was like Why do we have to play them? Oh, Kansas City, right Casey in Casey and I think that they're probably the best team in their division This year. I think they're better than the Broncos Well a rookie quarterback probably goes have no quarterback right now. It's for all it'll be a rookie Rancho It's not gonna be sent you're gonna be rancho. Sancho. Then why do you think they signed him? to start hold this clipboard fuckface he's going in there start what was the Jake: money on that okay anyway it's not not fun not fun at all let's talk a little bit about the draft since the draft's coming up is it next
00 Jake: week of the week after or do you want to actually do you think we can actually make it through to get a to get it together to do a draft podcast. It's one of our biggest podcasts ever, is when we do the draft podcast. It's kind of stupid not to. It's, okay, it's in two weeks. So we can probably get it together, do one podcast for the Jet Kingdom audience within two weeks. I think we can do that. All right, so let's make it, we'll do it. We'll get JK Draft. We'll try to get out there that first week. Oh, you know what? Yeah, like Tuesday at 26'd be good because I'll be all by myself. Anything else? No? But just gut feel. So we're not making predictions. We don't make game by game. But what's your feeling on this schedule? Just look at it right now. What are you feeling on this team is? Justin: I'd love to just say 9 and 7. So you're not saying 9 and 7. Jake: Yeah, it's lower than that. I don't know. It's a cake walk. We would have been in like. I don't know what I mean. I've the same was the game that kept us out. Ultimately, but I feel like the Eagles game we could have beat them like we should have beat them. We beat the teams in them. Justin: The Eagles and we should have been. Jake: We should have beaten one of the freaking bills once. Justin: There were also games that we want. We shouldn't have won. the I I Jake: like what Justin: giants game we should know one that game and the giants game we really should know one another games we should have I mean the Pats I feel like they didn't even try to be as Jake: Alright, stop checking your email. We're doing podcasting here. No, we're doing podcasting. You're the worst fucking podcaster. Everybody tweet at Justin. We're done with this shit. Alright, well we'll be back. We'll definitely do a draft. We'll do a before and after draft. And then we got the off season. Maybe just some news as we get in there and then we'll get back to training camp when we does. As always, Justin, the worst podcaster in the world, me, Jake, just above Justin, saying slightly, let's go Jets.
