20 Jake: Welcome to the JKM podcast. the longest I have not produced a podcast running New York Jets podcast ever I'm Jake joining me for the 257th time It's Justin. Justin, how How are you? It's been three fucking months. Where the fuck have we been? The good news is we didn't go anywhere. We're still here and we're still podcasting. You I think took a good six week, kissy fit about the last game where your bitch quarterback like shat your whole season in the fourth quarter just like right there in the fourth quarter and I think it took you like six weeks to like get over it. Although you're still willing to welcome back. with open arms to come shit on the next season. So we got that to talk about. Why are you putting words in my mouth? Oh, you. Why are you putting words in my mouth? About about welcoming him back with open arms. Well, we'll talk about it. I guess you're not all about welcome back. Why are you just throwing fucking words in my shade? No, you didn't throw any shade, you just put words in my mouth. All's better than the cactus bin! Hahahaha! I set you up for that so easy, it's so good! You did nothing on this, sorry. Hey, a douchebag, we have an agenda. Oh, yeah, the first thing is that this is how we know you wrote. Listen, I've been... Where have you been? Listen, I've been over it, but yeah, I was so unhappy after that last game For at least a month. I mean I didn't even enjoy The football playoffs really yeah, cuz you're all about I think at one point so angry and I thought so angry legitimate Chance if we made it into the tournament, that's where you're just insane Denver one Yeah with the defense that we couldn't even gotten by That defense was so bad It's true we beat the Patriots, but they also went up against a great defense like Mean do you think our defense was better than either the Panthers or the Broncos? And not better than Panthers That's a great D Yeah, they were shell shocked Anyway, whatever I was fucking pissed. So we got that then we got the
02 Jake: I'm trying to go find you out. It's like closed. It's closed. I can't even get into it Could we just say I beat you? I think you did you could say that because it happened so infrequently They might as well say it once around I don't even oh, oh Someone else London guy Gareth one one thing guy you douchebag. It's been a while I think Gareth one. Yeah, I think if you didn't win internet problems that and and the. and But I need internet to do my research. You have research? Is that what you call this? Not really research, just... Oh wait, here, fantasy profile. I got it. Got it. 2015. Gareth won, didn't he? I was eight of 24 on 2015 pick them You were eight out of 24. Yeah, what was I doesn't say cuz you have to go to your thing to figure it out What's your probably just stupid to figure that out? Yeah Okay, I think I actually care about I think you did All right. So who won and then we already said that so Say again news in the free agency stuff. So what actually why we hit the news first because this just came out like yesterday I think Or You like one and more recently than you No, not true. Okay. Well you did worse last year. None of the things you've said are true. You did worse last year than I did. So, anyway. Enjoy your six and seven season. Probably this is uh... Six and seven, really. Not my best showing. So, Terrell Rivas is having surgery on his wrist. I have two questions for you. One. I'm gonna say... I'm gonna say... He suffered this injury in week three. Okay. Do we think that this had any impact on... Revas? Is he not a Dorell Revas season? He did not, but I mean I feel like you're never gonna have a Dorell Revas. He's going to be not... He will never be at the place he was. He will only be... Like if he could maintain a level, that would be great, but he's never going to be as good as he was. I just, I just, so I'm like, I think he's going to be one of the best corners in the league, but then he's going to slowly slip and there were better corners and there were better shut down corners and. I don't feel like his, his arm from the games I watched and again, it's been a while and I felt he was the one he. I he was getting burned by young fast guys. And they would just be like,
00 Jake: see ya. And he used to be able to keep up or be good or, But now I don't I don't think he's I don't think he can keep up with those guys. I think he Stopped having the ability to jam people up because of his wrist as possible second question yes why the fuck do you wait until March 18th to have surgery when you could have had it January 12th January and it's gonna take you two to three months to recover which puts your timetable at April May June which is like right around the time when I think that's it's like I'll just miss OTAs no and I don't like first I don't care if he's at OTAs That one I don't, I think there's a- Why do you do that? Because there's a point of which after the season you want to get everything else right, you want to get healthy, you want to get, have time off, because now he's going, he's going to have a bum arm for three months. I don't have a problem as long as come training camp it's 100% doesn't care. To me it's training camp. What if there's a setback? I think three months is being. Just saw my daughter break her arm and back in But I'm saying she was out of a cast in four weeks for her and You know, so I'm just saying that's not a alright now son. Let's go to the fun stuff the free agency Let's start with the jets Let's talk jets free agents Let's let's losses and signs lost give me a player and tell you I'll tell you if I'm happy or not happy I'll give you the four, okay Until new island a Little bummed I just cuz remember that one game where he he covered Gronk and he did it so well other than that I saw a big loss to me It's very weird that they let him go because it was for one year and eight hundred and forty thousand dollars They must feel like they have a better answer I guess, I mean he was playing out of position too. Damaria Davis. I feel like he always was going, he always was on a path to become like the next best, you know, linebacker. I'm a little bummed by that because I liked him, but when they resigned Harris. You know last year to like a multi-year I feel like oh it's kind of his year and then they started during the middle season They always saw it saw it coming. They started pulling him out. They pulled him from games They didn't start him in games. So they were his time so they were giving it to everybody else Here's the thing that just don't have in according to all the rumors no money so I feel like They can't really like sign everybody. You gotta let some guys go. No guaranteed money on Damario Davis' contract either, by the way. I think they feel like they have a better answer. Chris Ivory. Let's do the contract first. 5 years, 32 mil, 10 million guaranteed. Stupid. Stupid money. Old running backs. Get rid of them. It's just, it's not this game anymore. This game is about multiple running backs.
02 Jake: These guys get hurt so often. I think we had two lucky years with him. He was hurt for what? three games out of two years. Last year he was hurt in a lot of games, but he suited up and played, which actually hurt more. Right. Rather not. How about that Patriots game? And like he was like the starter and then the last game of the season in Buffalo, he had four carries. So he didn't make any sense. So that's not that's not a problem. Damon Harrison, five years. $46 million for being big and fat and stopping the run. But he was good. He was good. I mean, first of all, if you get a nickname, you get snacks. Snacks. Once you get a nickname, you're kind of in my heart. And the Giants, too. And that's terrible. Oh, every ever the Giants defensive line is like. Just got better. They're just like ready to win the Super Bowl. Hey, your point, or you can make it yourself, or I'll repeat that you say. You say it's like, listen, we can swap these guys out. We'll get another guy. And if you've picked from the three guys and you say pick two, yeah, I think he's the odd man out. Pick from four, right? Who's your fourth? Mo Wilkerson. Yes. Richardson. Yeah. That's just Williams. Yeah. And Harrison. Okay. You're gonna see. You're gonna keep three weak cats right one well two of them are on their rookie contracts and Wilkerson is a dominant force Who's now up and walking? That's news for today That was interesting too. It's like I mean is there Coming back from broken leg. That's not an automatic like that's not like oh Okay, yeah, Damon Harrison make dick. I make it all the time big fat guy in the middle like yeah He was really good. He's good. Also that line was so good. I could take together was very yes, but you're right We have three we have three top guys playing at three four which we are right first of all They had a couple of free agent signings to fill that the whole Steve McClendon came over from Pittsburgh on a much cheaper contract. And you could also always throw Richardson in the middle. Right. He can be that guy. He's like, he's big, but he's athletic. He can fill the middle if he had to. Snacks, I just feel like he's the guy. There are guys when they leave like, I'm like mad at them or I don't like them anymore. He's a guy like, I feel like he earned it. Like he played well enough and he earned it. We just couldn't pay him. Right. So I don't have a problem with that. No, I don't have a problem. No, it will. And he showed us much love on the way out too. That's good too. That's always a good sign. He said, I love you guys, man. But, right. Go take the money and plus if you're getting signed from the Jets, the Giants and you get paid a bunch, it's kind of the best deal ever because you don't have to move. It's the same stadium. It's like you just change your uniform. That's it. All right. Let's go to the big signings. So running backs.
00 Jake: I've had a map for Tay coming in. I was guy 30 years old. Let's talk about that. But you want to bring all three and then or two ball three and then we'll talk about all three. Yeah. Okay, so we have forte Powell we re-sign and Kerry Robinson we sign away from New Orleans We love this. No, uh, no a second nail. No backups look third string running. Yeah, those are our guys So for Tays a three-year deal 12 million for a 30 year old three years It's a lot. It's a long three years, a lot of time for a 30 year old, right? A lot of people and I'm going to go with it because I think it makes sense are comparing it to the Lydani and Tomlinson signing where he's just a very versatile running back, right? He's nowhere near as good as he was. Hamilton. ever was. He's definitely been a feature back. He's definitely been the number one guy. He's been on good offenses. He played with Brandon Marshall, whatever that for whatever that means. I think he's a good fit because between him and Powell, they can both catch the ball and they can both kind of they can be on the field at the same time, right, and be dangerous because when ivory and power were on the field it was dangerous but like ivory wasn't as much of a threat to catch the ball you can take these guys put them in the backfield in a shotgun standing next to fits and you could literally motion either one out into the slot And you are very dangerous at that moment. Because either one can run a pattern and catch the ball from either spot, or you can hand the ball off and you don't know what's going to happen. So I like the signing. I think a versatile player, a lot of guaranteed money for a 30 year old. So that if anything, that's my gripe. And I like having Powell back, I thought he was really good for the defense last year and now when a what a what a what a what a what a what a what a what a what a what that when he went out it was like, oh. Doesn, I'm just trying to like, okay, so if you're just doing straight replacement, Matt Forte replacing Chris Ivory. I feel like Chris Ivory is obviously a harder runner and I mean some of the runs he's made over the years are just stunning. I mean just stunning blow people up but there there was the injury risk.
02 Jake: I don't know. I don't think it's I think it's just a flat. I don't think it's an upgrade. I don't think it's a downgrade. I feel like you'll get more use out of him. I think it's better than the Lydani and Thomas. I think Lydani came later. It wasn't 30. He was like 32. too. I think he was a couple years after that. I mean, the thing about Forte is like, before last season, I would have been super excited. Right. But then last season happened and it looked like he's on the way down. And so all right, is he going to have like a rebound up here? for the next episode. Don't forget to subscribe. Or is he gonna keep going down? He missed a couple games last year. Right, and they brought in Langford and he just started catching up. What's going on? So yeah, I feel like he's a two year wonder. I don't feel like the answer at running back is there. How's that? I just don't think it's there. But I think it's somewhere in the draft. Running the backfield this time. Between the three of those guys Well, here's the thing as just fans are sitting around like oh the backfield this like well Yeah, but what about the thing that? Thing that actually makes the team go Okay, we signed Steve McClendon Yeah from Pittsburgh a defensive tackle to take the place of snacks at a fraction of the cost fine Yeah We reset weird That's freaky cheap. I feel like that's I think that I feel like that is training camp fodder. No, no 230,000 actual guaranteed dollars. That's nothing. That's like three beers at my stadium And there's such felt who has like we don't have even numbers on baby. Gronk baby. Gronk back now some guys crow We We knew that was gonna happen Starley Knew that was gonna happen And then the Figures I meet the guy And then the And then the And then the And then the I meet the guy and then he gets cut I meet the guy and then he gets cut Jeff Cumber Big come? He's alone. And then there's tons of guys who are just out there like Callum Pace. I specifically not mentioning one guy because we'll get to him. Jaquan Jarrett. Legate dozible fine fine walls Haley every side he will not get resigned Benjamin, Ejolina the left tackle Willy cologne he'll probably just be retired he should retire more the interior linebacker Steve Bowen defensive and Chris Uwusu wide receiver. I mean now we're getting towards the bottom. Did we sign the But, Iren Henderson, who we probably need to re-sign. Quickly our punter. Oh, please May he quit. Kickers Just a couple of kickers., yeah, I'm sure folk will take his job back and then there's Fitz Can we do And then there's Fitz. So how do you feel about Fitz after the season?
00 Jake: So I look back on that season and I, let me talk. I know you want to talk, but like one of my concerns with Fitz and starting when I said this many times the podcast and you lambasted me and you said, you know, you're a fucking idiot, you know, the fuck you want, whatever. And I kept saying, you know. My problem with last season from the game, from Gino getting punched in the face, was it fits as our starter and does well enough to can maintain his job, but not well enough to win us a Super Bowl or get anywhere in the playoffs. I think I said this over and over and over again. At the end of the season, where is this team? He's a one year guy. He's not the future of the franchise. And we don't know who is the future of the franchise. So we're still kind of where we are. We took a mulligan for Fans must be pissed that they're quarter that they lost the frickin Super Bowl and the way they lost it But they go but we got cam and we're gonna be okay, right? Denver fans I think are shitting themselves because they have Sanchez and that's not an answer That's a terrible answer. I just I'm I'm just kind of pissed. I think this is the biggest flub of last season and this season is we don't have a guy. And it's not a running back. It's not only because you have to have a guy. You got to have a top ten guy to be competitive. And yes, you can always come up with the cases of the millions of the one or two offs. But I want a guy, I want a guy on our team who I'm looking at year after year and thinking, okay, I mean, since Sanchez, I mean, I thought he was a guy. When he first season, I was like, oh my God, this guy got us the A.C. Championship. Second season, oh my God, he got us there again. I was like, he's our guy. And it wasn't our guy. Like. Where's our guy? It's not Fitzpatrick. He's just another stopgap. So if we pick him again and give him, I think they're offering him seven million a year, eight million a year, where they're topping out, Denver's looking at him, whatever, no one's jumping on this. If we sign him for whatever, $1.50. He's a starter if he's not him, right? He's he's a starter Where is this team? What is this team? Who's had the seven Sixteens and seven years who had his best season ever which I totally agree with but he's still not the guy Who I close my eyes at night Dream my dreams of someone of my quarterback standing on top of that and sitting in the Vikings maybe, I don't know, wherever it is. And standing up there with that trophy and waving it around
01 Jake: and he's dressed in, you know, jet screen. And I'm like, who's that guy? And I don't see Fitzpatrick with the crazy beard, like you're crazy beard now, you got a Fitzpatrick beard. Like, I just don't see him doing it. So. What's the dillio? I don't really have a counterpoint for you on this one because I agree wholeheartedly. I don't- Can you at least admit during the season you're all about is just about winning a season and it's like if we can give the playoffs and all this. Yeah. But we've had the worst case scenario which is we miss the playoffs by a fucking quarter of football. Nothing to show for it. Zippo right we have nothing to show for it. There's no there's no like you almost got to the playoff prize No, no, so and we don't have the guy who almost got us there. So it's like and he's really not even that good So what so come on kegs? What the fuck step up? Before the game with the bills, yes Would you be like, you know, the when you're in control your own destiny at that point where you like, you know what, I'm ready for petty right now because that's what gives us what makes sense right now. The game, no, the game before the last game this season, I was not saying ready for petty because at that point. There's no point of putting him into one game. So you can't put yourself in this position. I can put it in the... I don't like it because of the way it went out, but I like it. No. I was really digging it into that last... No, but I was and I sat with you every game and I... And even that's why... You know why that game didn't bother me a bit? I've been through some terrible losses with the Jets. I've been to two AFC championships and been there and watch us lose those games. I've seen terrible, terrible losses. That one I was over like five minutes after the game because it was about it was just like yeah This is just this is just the season we signed up for but if we had gone to that and had an eight-nate season and we learned that we have a Guy who we think can be the next guy. I mean look at like Bridgewater or or the fucking guy out in Raiders or those like these shitty teams, but at least they're like, they're like sitting around going, well, we've got guys like we, they might not be the guy, but at least they have hope for next year. I don't have hope for it. I'm already, it's not even the fucking draft. And I'm already thinking, art? Our schedule is terrible next year. It makes this year look like a fucking cakewalk. You're no fun to talk to right now. You're not even letting me say anything. Say something. So let me ask you a question about a guy named Brock Osweiler. Brock the cock? Let me ask you about Brock the cock. Did anybody call him Brock the cock? He was a really if he has a really if he has a really big cock or a little cock it both work. It works
00 Jake: But he might have a small cock He's like six seven. It could all be Besides anything on him cuz he's so big will look small if it's not like massive. Anyway, rock the cock Anyway, what are you asking about Brock the cock? He didn't play his first three years. And then he played his fourth year and he played like okay. Okay he was benched but okay. Well I think that was more political than anything. Fine. Because he's a Republican or something? Well it wasn't like Manning lit the world on fire. Can we not mention the fact that Nick Mangold introduced Donald Trump at a rally? Bye. You just did. Oh shit, sorry. We could have decided not to. Okay. So... I mean I said Brock the cock. What else could I say? All right, go ahead. So the point is that this guy sat behind paid Manning for three years and then played in seven games and then got paid like Number one, amaze balls money. That's crazy. So, go ahead. I was about to say, how did the Broncos feel about that? So here's the guy that they in- They don't feel like stupid idiots. So you did the thing, everybody does the- No, no, no, no, sorry, sorry. Let me backtrack off that statement. They either- They either, one of two things, they either feel like idiots or they feel like they're the smartest motherfuckers on the planet because they know, they know better than anybody. But they'll keep playing it in six games. Sure. You would tell me, but Justin the Jets fan would tell me six or seven games isn't enough to evaluate a quarterback. But they had him for four years. But they didn't have him start for four years because you had Peyton Manning for two or three. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, when you have a guy in your building for four years, you know. You know if he has it or if he doesn't have it. Dude, I've been telling you this about like Sanchez and we knew after a while like he didn't have it and you kept saying he has it. We got to wait another couple of years. We didn't have the we didn't have the system for that I just love how I just fucked his whole thing up in the abs Bend over. Brock the cops just fucked you. So here's what I kind of want to have happen. Okay this is my This is my like What I want I want one of two things here. I want one thing to happen about one of two things I want no Ryan Fitzpatrick. Okay, I'm done. Oh, you're already done. I'm done with him. Man, I'm gonna go listen back and find clips of you during the middle of the season. Anyway, it's gonna be fun. Done with the Fitz. Fitzpawtik! He's not a winner. You're a loser. Well, he's right. Exactly. so good I'm on fire today not a winner you don't have luxurious hair you're
05 Jake: looser you're so this has been holding up for three months like just exploding over this make we just lost every listener that we ever had that remain with us and still subscribe three months later, they're all gone. We need to start again. Jets fans aren't Trump fans. That I do. Oh, Jesus. Do you think Woody likes what's going on? Yes. No, he does. He's a huge Republican, which probably means he does not like what's going on here. Whatever. Let's let's not get into that. So so political daily. Here's what I want. OK. I want a legitimate quarterback competition between training camp between. Oh god, I'm gonna puke all this mic. Bryce Petty. Wait for Petty! Gino Smith. And Robert Griffin the third. I want a legitimate three-way competition between these three guys. Wanna see three guys in a three-way? I wanna see the three cocks. You got the biggest stakes. I wanna see them go and see who can win that job between those three guys. I don't think you can ever do. First of all, You can't. You can't do it. You can't do it three way. Buffalo did it. You can do it two way. Wait, you can. Buffalo did it last season and they came out with Tara Taylor. and they actually picked the right guy. But out of a terrible heap of shit. Wait, but he's the. He's the. He's the. He's the. He's the. He's the. He's the. He was number three. He worked. He wanted. You can absolutely do it. I feel like you do it too. Not three, but okay. Absolutely do it. Fine. Enough time. In the reps. In the. Preseason you have five games you have enough where you actually play the fourth fucking game because you're like, all right Someone win this fucking battle right you can one of you break your legs. We know which one can play Right, so I think between Well, first of all, only two of those players are on our team. Yeah. So I would stop with with with Fitz. I would legit go to RG three and be like, listen. You've done it. You've done it in this league. You were the rookie of the year. You were the rookie of the year as a quarterback when you were drafted in the same draft as Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson. If you didn't fuck up your knee you were gonna beat Russell Wilson in the playoffs because you had the home game and He got all fucked up with his knee and that screwed everything up And I would I would like to see what he could do in a in a spread offense I'd like to see what Gino could do in a spread offense and I want to see what petty actually looks like on the
00 Jake: Field listen if you gave me a guy who won the arch Griffith Award the Pepsi next rookie of the year award, the Manning award, the Maxwell award, the best championship performance. Listen, just listen. I'll, I'll get some of them. The David O'Brien award, the National Football League Rookie of the Year award is the one you just named and the NFL honors AP offensive Rookie of the Year award. You would want that guy on your team, right? How old is he? No, no, no. But I'm saying you'd want that guy because those awards mean a lot. You just said Rookie of the Year. I just rattled off all these awards. Back to back years. You know who that is? I don't know. Vince Young. Boom! Yeah, but Vince Young never showed any... He never made the playoffs. He didn't do anything. That first year, he was good, man. point point that's the point was his wonder like score i don't know i'm serious he was like the dumbest guy ever i think oh my god doesn't matter the point is i'm looking at this guy's i'm only you're saying oh he's the rookie of the year war that means bs it's nothing oh let's see his first year is 2000 12 I think. Oh, that's Texas. Hold on. I gotta go down to... You were going to Vince Young or...? Vince Young. No, I'm looking at Vince Young. I'm trying to find Vince Young's like... RG3 was a far superior player. Yeah, I don't know about that. He definitely... College awards. This guy ran award at reward. Oh, and Vince Young by the way, you know, Rose Bowl superhero. Anyway, the point is I'm not in about awards. You got to show me what you could three's rookie season Okay, where he played in 15 games. Yes Right this guy had a 65 percent completion percentage He threw for 3,200 yards He threw for 20 touchdowns and only five picks Okay This guy had a hundred and two rating He also ran for 815 yards and 7 touchdowns. That's incredible production. Made the playoffs, won his division, and from there he just got screwed with the injuries. I would like to see what he could do in this system that I think is a very good offensive system with real weapons around him, and I think he's more worthy of a shot. than Fitz. Because Fitz, you know, you know what he is. He's not getting any better. Okay, but let's, on the other, on the other hand, let's make the argument. He can only get worse. He's not getting better. He couldn't. So he can only get worse at this point. He's not going to be any better than he is right now. If he achieved, if you could, if you said, I'll sign you up for Fitz's performance last year. for next year. I mean, no one in their right mind would say no. Like, that was a record-breaking year for the Jets. I would actually say no. But I know that that's about as realistic as whatever.
02 Jake: Unicorn's out my ass. You can't take the guy's best year ever. and say, well, he's gonna repeat that. But that's his rookie year. I mean... No, but that's what I'm saying. We're both taking like one guy's rookie year who then gets beat out by somebody else. I know, injured or whatever. And then taking another guy, it's like his best year. I just... The only argument I think there is for Fitz is... system... and personnel because if you said this locker room loved him, the receivers loved him. They played for him. They did. And they blew it. They didn't make the playoffs. playoffs. I mean, come on, you can't have your best year ever and still not make like. Well, you throw three picks in the fourth quarter. You're not going to make the You are what you are. He is what he is. It was waiting for this game and it came and I was like god damn it The last game, the game that mattered the most Yeah, when it mattered You know why that guy's never played in a playoff game? Because when it mattered Because he's that game, because he's that guy Well I don't even know if he's ever even been in the position to have like a win in in I don't even know if he's, because he was 20 games under 500 I, again, I, I was so done with him at the end of that game And I'm still after calming down and all that. He's to me, still a backup and he wants the starter for us. And that's what he would be. Unfortunately, there would be no competition. He'd be the starter. And I want a competition. I want Petty to have a chance to win. I want Gino to have a chance to win. Maybe he'll be better to a year sitting there. He never got a chance to sit back relax Take the game in right learn a system. He was thrown to the fire Oh remember he was supposed to start like he wasn't supposed to start. It's not drafted to snow He was last year in training camp He was the starter right and it was not if it was not a competition It was Gino you starter fifth. You're a backup, right? So only because Fits got, you know, Gina got punched in the face. Could be a blessing in disguise, you never know. I think it fucked our entire season. I really do. That thing threw the whole thing out the window. Because what we wanted to happen last year, and this is revisionist history, but I'm good at it, is we wanted to see, okay... the Okay, and let's see what he can do. And what, so then he goes out and we're like, oh, well here's our backup. And our backup just starts to do really well. So, okay, we have a really good backup. I think it's shit. And I'm pissed because I, the whole last season, the only thing I'm happy with Cags, I mean, Cags is, he did, he had some of the greatest moves. I mean, the Brandon Marshall move, we could all still sit around and jizz around, because that was still thinking
00 Jake: about those catches he made and like, Amazing, and he's still on our team. And the move to, and I think even now, sitting there right now, even not cowing to this, I don't know if it's a money thing, but they're not going crazy. They're not like, I'm telling him, dude, go get an offer that's like a starter's. You're not getting it. No, and all these schmoes are out there getting starter big, huge salaries. It's like you're... the only reason those other schmoes brock the cock is signing down in Houston is because there's a chance that brock the cock goes out and has seven more years and is an amazing quarterback and wins them a championship. There's literally zero upside. No, because he's 33, 34. That's why I'm more interested in the RG3 situation. Because you think there's upside. If you said the, if you said the money was even, like even money, you're going to pay the guy. Well, they're offering seven million. So I feel like that's either the money they have or the money they're willing to spend. Either way, it doesn't matter. I get it. RG3 or fits for whatever the same dollar the same dollar , a that can get you to the next level. Of course, Michael Vick didn't get them to all the way, but he was, that year, he was electrifying, and he, or two years, right? Or was it one? He had like one really good year. Right, where he just blew up, but after. So, I don't know. But I would be perfectly happy if they just punted, said, you know what, we're heading in the draft, we're gonna pick up another guy, and we're gonna go ahead with Gino. Gino, um. Petty and dude in the draft. Fine. Fine. Because at least we're going to find out if we have a guy. Because those guys all have upside. Even Gino has upside. It's not a lot, because we've seen him, but there's upside. And I don't care if it's Petty. I'm not stuck to Petty, although last year I wanted to see him play because I didn't want to be in this position, trying to pay a backup $7 million a year to be See you next time. a front-runner when he's not a front-runner, he's a backup. And so if we had played, you know, I know I'm playing revisionist history, but if we had played uh Petty and lost seven more games last year and but we knew that he's a viable
01 Jake: NFL quarterback who can actually play for us next year we be the hell of a better position we are now now we're paying were saying this backup here seven million dollars comby our starter So which is stupid so this again he cags done great. This is I thought the major flop Now and a it wasn't the flop and getting fits it was a. It was the flop and in in not knowing last year that they were all about the wins and they were all about like trying to like show it in the first season But every statistic shows that when you have a terrible season, you always regress back to having an 8 and 8 the next year. So they won two more games they should have because they had a terrible easy schedule. But we have nothing to show for it other than nothing. So I'd rather be sitting here with five wins last year looking at, oh, we got a guy. Like, Thank you. This frickin' 6'4". Dude. But who's this guy? Like you keep making up this guy. But he doesn't exist. Get him on her team. But you keep... dude. What's irrational about this thing is that you keep making up this guy that doesn't exist. But you have to keep going until you find him. It's like, oh well if you go 5'11", well then you have this guy. No, then you go get him. And then you try to get one. And then you see what he does. Yes it is. It is not. You have to go... You have to go 2 and 14 to get a guy and then hope he's a guy. No b Right. So they picked Aaron Rodgers, Ben. Exactly. And then there's people who get lucky and they get Russell Wilson in the third and they get Tom Brady in the sixth and whatever. And then there's Flash in the pans like, you know, Colin Kaepernick seems to be who is the second round pick. Nick Foles, who is the second or third round pick. Or you pick Tannehill in the first round in the top 10. Or you pick Brandon Wieden. Or you pick Hulkahoy. Or Brock Osweiler. Who was in the first round? Third rounder. Or you pick like the Browns. Ask the Browns how that works for them. Because they picked Dokoy. You shouldn't come to me with the Browns since you wanted Manzel. How many times can you do it? Sometimes can you waste the first round? Do you know that everybody flames them because they did this all they've paid an outside consulting firm to come in that year and tell them who they should pick and the outside consultant called it was Bridgewater. That was the guy they're like pick Bridgewater and they said and they took this huge money millions of dollars they spent on this damn consultant and they said no and they went pick Manziel. So if they had Bridgewater would that team be better? Yeah, it would be. Oh, yeah. I mean, would you take Bridgewater right now? Upside on Bridgewater? $7 million? Yeah, you would. Yeah, you would. Yeah, I know. So we got to go in the next draft next year.
00 Jake: But the question is, the question is, would in last year's draft. Yeah. So we had the sixth overall pick. We had a terrible season the year before. Yeah. With the sixth overall pick. Yep. And. There were clearly two quarterbacks, right? There was Winston and Marijota. Yep. I don't think another rookie stepped up. No, the third quarterback off the off the heady was petty. So at six, were you going to pick a quarterback? No, we're going to know. That's true. They did great trade up. No, no. So what were they gonna do? No, now that's what I'm saying. I have no issue with last year in terms of the draft or free agency. They did a great job. I have an issue when it came down to your starting quarterback gets hurt for the season and you decide to go with the backup, the paid journeyman backup. and not, hey, well now I got a chance to see if this kid's got something. Why don't we give him—they never gave Petty, I feel like, enough of a shot. I'd rather have him gone in all season long. And this is not revisionist because I sat there saying this the entire season. Like, give me Petty because I want to see if this kid is good. He was the third quarterback taken in the league in the draft. Yes. Was he taken low? Sure. But that doesn't matter. He's the third one off the board. He could be the whatever but we don't know and now we still don't know because we didn't even see a play for five seconds Because we got to see this other guy go in and show us what backup people do It was a waste his waste So yes, you got to keep picking until you get the guy Kaepernick give him a shot I feel like I I think both I think but I mean listen, I'm kind of a Kaepernick fan like I Watched him and I just watched him but I watched him. He has had success beyond where I think even RG 3 is head He's gone farther. Dude, he was on the five yard line ready to win the Super Bowl. I know. So like, I like him. And I think he's got Swagger, I think he's big, I think he can run, I think he can throw. He's got accuracy issues. But I'd like to see Kaepernick. RG3, I think, is a bit more of a head case. I'm not as excited about that. Even money right now, $7 million, fits Kaepernick or RG3. You go RG3. Yeah. And I'd go cap. And some listener would probably take fits even money straight across But I would take my chances with our I Just yeah, I feel like he's not I mean both of them are kind of same position both kind of benched last year not really playing New regimes there. They're kind of out Although one is actually on a team and the other one is actually wait. I just he's out. He's a free agent, right? Okay, so you can sign now we could sign him tomorrow. He came he sat for two days with the Jets and then he left Not a good sign
