03 Jake: This is episode 76 of the Jet Kingdom Podcast for Thursday, July 29, 2010. Training Camp Calls. Justin: of the women. Jake: Welcome to the Jet Kingdom Podcast. As always, this is Jake on this side of the digital aisle. just Please before the start of actually this is it for me This is the start the start of training camp We got lots of stuff to look forward to and joining me as Always on his side of the digital aisle miles and miles away from my house But still in the same still in the same island as I like to say it's Justin Justin. How you doing, buddy? I'm doing all right. Don't sound so excited to be joined by me Oh, really? Why? You don't want me to be excited to be joined by you? Justin: I was sort of saying you didn't sound so excited to be joined by me. Jake: Oh no, yes. Well, I'm waiting for that other host to show up. You're never going to get it. 76 episodes, almost 4 years. And I'm still waiting for that second host to show up. Wowzers. That replacement host for you. Not going to happen. I think I put it on monster.com, but I haven't found it yet. Must you pay them more than you pay me? Wait. What's more than zero? Everything is more than zero. So that would be easy. All right, so we got some things to talk about. We're going to talk about today's agenda, as it were. The rundown. We've got to come up with a better name than agenda. Sounds too business-like. And you know us. We are not business-like. The runway. way. It's gonna be Kingdom check Kingdom The moat no, okay the runway I like it what's on the runway today Top five we're gonna do a list of top five players We're interested in seeing or interested in training camp what we're looking for We'll go over that list talk about the note to Tio show Kohl's is going to work out with the Jets tomorrow. I cannot believe it could be his third time back at the team. Talk about that. We got someone ranking the Jets as number one in the preseason rankings. And of course, we got Mark Brunel coming in. And a little bit about some new technology in the New Meadowlands Stadium, which could be cool. Little article in the New York Times. So let's get right to it. Why don't we do it in reverse? OK. Because the list that I have is kind of the least exciting to the most exciting. So the first thing I'll point you to is the New York Times article talking about the New
04 Jake: Maryland Stadium and how they're actually going to hand, there's going to be apps you can put on your phone, smart phones. I assume that means an iPhone app. and whatever Blackberry Apple, whatever, that you can watch that with only works within the stadium. Okay. You can watch replays and like stats and highlights of other games while you're at the stadium. Justin: Wow. Wow, that's all I get from you is just stunned by it. That's pretty awesome. Yeah. The only thing that I'm like wondering about is so Like do you have to have an internet connection for this to work? Cuz no my thing you're gonna catch up to their when I'm at the stadium. No, no, no Jake: They're gonna connect up to they're providing the source so they've put in they said they said like 50 wireless Justin: Whatever. Oh, they have a Wi-Fi thing going on Jake: So yeah, you're gonna connect up to. to their Their wireless network and get it up from them. Oh, wow. I'm excited for this cuz Justin: How cool is that? That is cool. Are you going to only be able to get highlights of the game that you're actually at? Because that's not that cool. Jake: No. No. Justin: This is like a fantasy football like wet dream. This is awesome. Jake: So I'll read you the quote. For the Jets and the Giants and the Jets, the answer perhaps is five. Hey, good reading. Also fans, free smartphone applications that they can glance to see video replays. is. updates this and live video games that will only work inside the stadium. Justin: I can't wait to get that app. That is really cool. That is a very, very cool idea. Jake: I think it's in some ways it's very long coming, but I love it. Great idea. Because you know, when I'm at the game sometimes. Justin: I kind of miss being at home and like. Having the ability to see what's going on in all the other games. I love being at the games Don't get me wrong, but no, I will get you wrong a lot Well, I mean there's something to do away that you know when they're away in your home And it's nice to be able to sort of flip around and watch watch the games on. Oh, I don't don't get me wrong Jake: I go both sides of it, but I don't miss one one. I'm at the other either way I would know that's not true. I miss I miss going to games more than I more than I miss watching games at home because, and we've talked about this before in one of the other 75 episodes, which is that when I'm at the game, my focus is the game and I don't have to worry about other things happening. When I'm at home, there's other distractions. And also when I'm going to the game, it's a day. It's the whole day It's like you know from packing up to tailgating to the game to trying to get home It's like a day at an event when I'm at home again. There's other distractions of the people this phone calls There's computers and stuff. I can watch and And then there's the pregame, you know, like all that's just a distraction. So I actually I'm much more like going to the games, although I do like watching them
03 Jake: at home sometimes. So and this year we got to watch them home, you know, a couple of times. Well, one on Monday night, once on Sunday night, we got a bunch. Which actually I like. Thanksgiving, right? Well, that's at home. Oh, yeah, which actually brings us to fine. Great, great segue. We'll be playing against the Cincinnati Bengals who now have Ocho Cinco and T-O, Terrell Owens. The VH1 back to back. Justin: They're just on the same team now. That jerk off had the audacity to use the Jets as leverage to hurry up and get into. camp before they actually started because there was a really widespread Rumor that the Jets were gonna talk to T. Oh a couple days ago And then all of a sudden he signs with Cincinnati like right our way So he definitely used those for leverage fine. I couldn't be happy. Oh, yeah, I didn't mean I mean that was no one really wanted I don't even think Cincinnati wanted him. They just they just did it to appease Carson Palmer at the end of the day. They're like, yeah, I guess he could still play, so why not? Jake: I think they have three words for Carson Palmer. Three words. Go on. No more excuses. Justin: Well, T.O. kind of isn't. He's not that great. I mean, he's not. Jake: No, but he's still as your third wide receiver. Justin: I don't think he's their third. I think he's their second. Jake: No, I think he's their third but doesn't matter you still have to the point is that Carlson Carson Palmer They won a lot of games. They won their entire conference. They went and the great a goose egg Justin: Not well, not only have to play a really good team Jake: Well, they played an amazing team. I'm just saying but they lost that team Justin: you know, you know what that team's gonna do is they're gonna be awesome at running the ball because It's gonna be sort of like a shit we have to pay all this attention to these guys on the outside and Cedric Benson can run so they're gonna be I mean I guess they'll be better than they were last year because they didn't have another guy last year and they brought in two receivers in the off season Antonio Bryan and TO so they should be I guess a little better on offense we'll see I'm not sold to TO is Really any good anymore. He's kind of old and you always drop the ball and He's lost a step. You couldn't do anything last year. So true true true Jake: All right, speaking of give being old Next topic so after much I guess what was not the best kept secret and the entire NFL The Jets signed Mark Brunel that rhymes To be the backup to Mark Sanchez Um, Mark Brunell is now the oldest player on the Jets. Um, uh, at 39 years old, he's played 18 seasons.
04 Jake: Um, he's just one year older than Tony Richardson. Let's just hope we don't see him on the field. Yeah. I, I mean. And... It's kind of a tough one, right? Justin: I don't mind it at all. I actually like it. Like I said in the last podcast, the backup being Calvin Clemens brings absolutely nothing to the table. You want a veteran who can mentor Mark Sanchez at this point in his career. You don't need a backup who's capable. You need a backup who can mentor a second year quarterback. Jake: So okay, so now we have age. Yeah, and he'll be the climate and I imagine no Clemens you think Justin: I believe so. They should do him a favor and chop him? What are they gonna get? They should do him and chop him now so that someone picks him up before camp starts. Well that's literally almost too late. They really should do him a favor and cut him now. You don't think they're Jake: I'm going to do an Ainge Clemens battle for the worst. Justin: Now, I think you pay Angel S, he was a 6 round pick. Clemens was a second round pick. Just cuz. Jake: Plus he's 6-5. Justin: You're never gonna play anyway but you keep at 3rd, if you're in the 3rd string quarterback, you're not winning anything so you just have the cheapest guy. The cheapest guy really excellent not a position where you're looking to For skill you're looking to not spend It's true. Sorry Jake: speaking of not spending any money Justin: I'm gonna be I'm the king of segues and they all these segues you're bringing to the table Jake: I like the segues. Speaking of not spending money, I don't buy Sports Illustrated. Me neither. But, I do follow Don Banks. Take that from the bank. Who just published his NFL Power Rankings. Which I actually kind of want to do power rankings this year. I'm really considering figuring out doing like on the site top like six and then I get bored and Then if you don't but that's the thing the people the reason people read all of them is because Their team is somewhere. You only do top six people only show up in the top six. That's good because the Jets are number one and that's what our website's about. But if you do 32 then people show up to read all 32 because they'd be like then they'd be arguing with you. No man. Where are the bills? The Jets are one. Justin: That's the story. So this story is he? Oh the bills are 31 out of 30. Jake: That's awesome. Oh, that's right. That's awesome. Um, jets number one. So the jets one Saints to Ravens three above the Colts Justin: Ravens are hot. They're the hot team because of their offense, but I don't think To be honest above Cowboys like Cowboys are crap. I'm sorry anyone who says the Cowboys are gonna be in the Super Bowl is smoking something
02 Jake: Well, I don't think they... They first of all, they have the curse. They can't get the Super Bowl because the Super Bowl's being played in their house, since that just won't happen. I will say, even as the most biased jet fan on the planet, putting the jets above the Super Bowl champions this year is a little bit like, eh, I think you always have to start it off with the Super Bowl champions. Justin: 13-3 Super Bowl champions? I think so. Jake: Yeah, I think you put them above them. And again, putting the ravans above the 97 ravens above the 14 and two cults. Really? Yeah. Really? I mean, the cults are always like, they're always the Vikings who went to the NFC championship. All the cults are that team that's like, you know, they're going to be good. Justin: and Sort of like when Michael Jordan stopped winning MVP Awards, even though everyone knew he was the MVP Like you know, it's just like I'm sick of putting the Colts in the top two So I'm just gonna put someone else up there and make them number four Jake: Yeah, not not not not by anyway. Love it I mean, you know the thing about the rankings is people get pissed either way if you're up then then people get pissed if you're down People get pissed if you're not everybody looks at it. I mean, I'm sure the same fans are all like really And then Coles fans, everybody thinks they should be higher. It never helps you win a game, but it's always fun and good talk. But we have a lot of firepower now. So we'll see this. We can come around. Next story. Moving right along. Yeah, well, it's right before we got to get to the meat of this. That's true. That's true. That's true. We got some meat coming up. Got some meat. Coles. Lavernius. Can you imagine, can you, this, I mean, has this ever happened that a player has played for a team three different times? I have to imagine it has. Like one way to come back? Justin: You'd have to consult with the Elias Sports Bureau for that. I don't know off the top of my head, but I gotta be honest, I don't think we need a wide receiver. over. Don't really understand it unless he's gonna be like minimum and you know sign for the minimum and decide to be the fourth receiver Jake: To be honest, he really didn't play very well the last time he was here. He dropped tons of balls Well, and he didn't play well last year. I don't really see the reason and he dropped he he I mean He dropped a critical ball not even well, I guess he didn't drop against ripped It is trip to get I don't even I don't even want to remember I don't he's the one who dropped the ball that we got the recovery on and went back the other way Justin: I mean, it was a huge you know what he isn't worth Bringing back because we don't need a receiver like we have Jake: three Really good receivers. I think we have we have we have one excellent receiver one really good receiver one Say we have three pretty good receivers in Edwards. How would you rank our top three receivers in order of one, two, and three, best to worst,
04 Jake: and then where would you put Kohl's in there? Well Kohl's is, oh, well, I mean Kohl's would be fourth if he signed on a team. Agreed. Justin: Above Brad Smith, above Clowney, above. of. Anyone else Wallace right or whatever else they have flowing right agree.'s I agree top three is tough Jake: And wait, I'm gonna give you some parameters just cuz I know you love on I love parameters out all Who's playing what teams what games like, you know, yeah Justin: 12 games this year. Yes. Okay, but I don't know how this is very I think it's very tough. I mean really I do Jake: We have a number one receiver and his name is Santoni Holmes. I'm not sure that he's better He's the number one receiver. He's the best receiver we have on our team Then you the brain Edwards then you have country. I I almost said it I I Justin: almost see them as like 1, 1A and 2. Jake: Aww, Jesus, there's no 1A. Don't be. Justin: Bailin Eberty's a really good receiver. He just happens to drop the ball sometimes. Really good at what? Dropping balls? He's pretty damn good. He's fast at balls. Jake: Did he catch the winning catch in the Super Bowl? No, he's never played in the... Oh no, he's never been... I don't think... Eh, no, no. I was about to say he hasn't been to the playoffs, but he has because he went last year with us Justin: I'm a full year in the offense and a full training camp, and I think you'll be very surprised Jake: I think you'll be very surprised that sentoni homes is the best writer's here. We have Justin: And you know what round out with Jericho country's your third receiver. You're doing pretty good Jake: I totally agree and if actually if if with vernus cole's is number four then that's okay too he is a four though that's what he is but he's a four that's what he is that's not a good four Justin: he's a four but he's a four you can put a team that doesn't put bread smith out there you can but anyone out there for you for me out there Jake: I'll be out there. You know like, you know like 4'8". I'll be like Wayne Kerbet out there. Wayne was 5'10". I'm close. If you jump high with your hands up you're not getting 5'10", just saying. Alrighty. So that's it. So yeah, I mean, I don't get it at all. Again, if he had a great season last year, if we needed a bunch of receivers, I feel like this team is just like, they want to have a backup to the backup because they're very concerned and this is just my perception of the reality. They're very concerned that people are going to be, you know, that, that. The hook on the Jets this year is you guys are going for it.
00 Jake: You're putting in all this money, putting all this players. You're grabbing everybody off the wires. You're grabbing anybody who's anybody. And you better win. And so I think what they're doing is they're just doing a backup to a backup. up so they just don't want to be in the position and weak. And you could think about those first four weeks, actually. This could be the first four week strategy, which is, Centennial Homes, the number one receiver at the New York Jets, isn't going to be on the field. And so maybe this is their way of saying, well, we're going to have someone else there. And then if we want to cut them later, we'll cut them. You know? I don't buy it. Especially in an uncapped year, why not? I don't buy it. Load up. Whatever. All right. All right. It's good for the meat. All right, let's get to the meat. Let me pour myself a beer. Some meat flavored beer. Let me pour myself a meat flavored beer into my Jet Squareslite class, which is very appropriate. All right, let's talk about. So training camp's coming up starting in barely a couple days. Yep, next week. Justin: By the way, did you catch the? the preview of the hard knocks last night on HBO I did not it was awesome fifteen minutes Jake: pure entertainment I did not catch it because I will be I've already plugged into my Tivo in HD and I will be Justin: I will they had a countdown show last night which is Jake: I was sucking at the teat of of hard not it looks like it's gonna be Justin: awesome. Jake: Yeah, it's gonna be but they don't have any they don't have any footage. They have they have plenty of they had it was good Justin: You should have seen the preview last night. All right, I'll go Tivo it but whatever Jake: All right. The point is I can't wait for the show, but it's only five shows like yeah, that's crazy Justin: Well, there's only five weeks Jake: Yeah, five weeks and one hour show but anyway, so I'm excited for that. I think it's August 11th is premiere Justin: Yeah, August 11th and the countdown there was about 15 minutes was last night And leading up to it, we're going to talk about five players each that we are looking forward to or watching for during the training camp and the preseason. Jake: Right, because we want to make sure that we're looking at certain players. All right, so let's go one for one. We're not going to repeat. So no repeat. And you got to sprinkle in some rookies there, buddy. I saw your last. I've got a cookie in there. Alright, go meet, not youngins, I want rookies. Alright, go ahead. So give me your top. Do you want me to go first? Yes. Alright, first, no, it's not a rank. It's not a rank. Just give me a list and you're going to start with one and then I'll go one and then you'll go one. My first guy is LT. Lydania. Hey, why? Tomlinson. Justin: Because I want to see if he still has it. I wanna see if he... can come in and make a difference and actually run for some yards behind the Jets offensive line. I know he's going to be a backup. He probably won't start. Sean Green will probably start.
02 Justin: And I want to see if LT can come out of the backfield, make some catches. If he's going to be the goal line back, because he's really good at scoring touchdowns. How his personality the team. I mean, that's a big part of it. And I'm just interested to see this, you know, who was a guy who was basically the best player in the league for a bunch of years, how he meshes with the new team. Jake: I mean, yeah, I think it's a horrible, horrible pick to watch for in training camp because I don't really think that he's going to be a big part of training camp. I think this is an older guy. They're not going to put a lot of work on him. They know what he can and cannot do. So. I think they're going to, I think, you know. First of all, he's a loud mouth. He's a talkative loud mouth. Justin: 395 pounds of beef. Jake: And he's losing weight by eating cookies. So the point is, I want to see him eat cookies, lose weight. No, I mean, Chris Jenkins is, there's a cut of two stories the last season. One is that, oh my god, Chris Jenkins is hurt. We're never going to do, we're never going to be a good defense. Would we have been better with Chris Jenkins? You bet. Will we be better this year if he is on the field? You bet. How much is he going to be able to... He's talked about retirement. I don't know how much of his heart's in this. I want to see that. Justin: He's awesome. He's a great player. Jake: I hope the best thing in the world that happened last year was that he got hurt. We put in a bunch of rookies or you know, young guys. That that I think will take over great and then let Jenkins just in the plays and times that you know Let the Jenkins be Jenkins and don't wear him down because I want to see him play in the frickin playoffs I don't want to see him hurting the playoffs. So alright, so Jenkins is my number Who's your number two or who's your second? Well again, you're probably just Justin: Because he's an older guy, but Jason Taylor. I want to see how Jason Taylor fits into this defense. How he's gonna be an impact guy who rushes the quarterback? Is he just gonna kind of play on third downs? Is he gonna actually mesh with the rest of the personalities on the team since he's sort of outspoken as a media guy? And I'm just interested in seeing how this just hated rival can come in and play. I mean, I'll tell you, I really Wasn't happy when they signed him because I don't like him But as soon as he makes a sack with a strip and a fumble and picks it up and runs it for a touchdown Jake: I'm gonna be cheering my ass off. So yeah, Jason Taylor's the guy I'm looking for it You know what? I'm I would say it's a bad pick but I'm not going to because it's a good pick because
03 Jake: Jason Tillers he is, he's a loudmouth. He's going to be good on hard knocks. That's for sure. He's a personality and I think, I actually think he has more in the tank than L.T. does, but we'll see. We shall. Um, my next one, I'm looking forward to the number one receiver in, um, on the New York Jets and seeing what he can do in San Antonio home. Oh, that was going to be my next guy. uh... yeah he's not he's no longer got uh... so i think he's going to be i really want to see what he's got you know i get it i'm going to first four games i think he's going to do is amazing stuff so go ahead to be an x dot my next guy since i was Justin: going to pick sentinel homes i'm still in your guys okay rights and uh... I'm gonna make a call. interesting interesting why I'm gonna pick him because like you said I have to pick some Brooks and he was our first round pick and he's not signed yet we haven't signed yet but I'm sure we will he's already got a number so I think he took Kerry Rhodes his old number I think he took 25 He's highly touted as a top corner. I want to watch and see if he can learn from the best in Rivas and another quality player in Cromartie during camp. Where he's going to fit, is he going to play in the slot, in the nickel? Is he going to... Is he gonna end up lining up outside when the three of them are on the field at the same time? What they're gonna actually do with him, I want to know if he can tackle I want to know if he can actually attack, you know, he's a corner I want to see if he's a physical corner. Can you tackle? I mean Reavis is aside from the fact that Reavis can cover anybody really really well. He's a great tackler. He does not miss a tackle. It's phenomenal. When his guy actually does catch the ball, he's not breaking down the sideline. He's getting tackled. When they run his way, he makes a tackle. He's a great tackler. So I want to see if this guy can do that. I want to see if he can actually cover guys. I want to see how fast he is, if he's going to Jake: I like that guy, but my guy is not going to be the sexy pick. I'm going to go with Nick Folk, because we had a good kicker last year who played really well and we got rid of him because we were saving a few bucks and we picked up this guy. Bye. And he was not a good kicker last I was not a good
06 Jake: The only thing that really matters If this guy is no good, we're gonna find out. And they'll just get someone else. Alright, well then that's what I'm looking forward to. I'm looking forward to finding out very quickly. Go, your next pick. Justin: Pretty, pretty obvious one. But gotta be looking at Mark Sanchez. Gotta be looking at what he's doing in his second year, how he's matured, how he let that playoff run last year Build some confidence. What I'd like to see is I think last year he threw 12 touchdowns and 20 picks I'd like to see that literally reversed. I'd like to see 20 touchdowns, 12 picks. I think that'd be a really good season for him And I'd like to see how he progresses in this offense with the second year in the same offense You know the running back who can actually come out of the backfield in LT, so I want to see how he how he progresses Jake: I'm going to throw in, I'm going to deviate from my list, I'm going to throw in Joe McKnight. I'm interested in seeing, you know, we lost, we end Washington. We have someone who you'll probably pick very soon. And we have LT, who you've already picked. So I'm going to pick the other guy. Alright, um... You know, people have compared him to that sort of elusive speed, the ziggy and the zagging. He's not a huge guy, he's 5'11", so he's not massive. But if you've watched him play, he's got some really burst. And he's got that kind of like... He's got that Lee in Washington this of him Rough minicamps apparently came out dropping balls not good Throwing up. I think was the thing that came out of minicamp with him. He's nervous right. He's a little anxious Yeah, I don't want to see any of that. I want to see I want to see him a I want to see him get hazed a lot I'm like, does this name does that Brian's Brian who? Justin: Yeah, who refused to carry Roy Williams shoulder pads and then the coach the worst coach in the NFL Jake: Wade Phillips sided with the rookie Yeah, that's not good. Well, I mean, first of all, the only worst person on the team I would ever side against would be Roy Williams, who is quadruply overpaid and quadruply too much, you know. Yeah, but seriously, if you're a receiver and Roy Williams says carry the shoulder pads, just carry the fucking shoulder pads. Alright, so my pick is... is Joe McKnight. Yeah, if LT tells Joe McKnight to carry his shoulder pads, you better fucking
00 Jake: carry your shoulder pads. Oh, he better pick, he better say no, no, no sir, I will carry you and your shoulder pads. No, let me polish your balls and carry your shoulder pads. And that's how we make this explicit. Yes, that is why. My fifth and final pick. Justin: is the third running back picked is Sean Green. Second year player, going to be a starter, first time, showed some real signs of brilliance last year, particularly in the playoffs. Had a really good productive second half of the season. Offense almost looked better with him on the field, particularly in the last bunch of games and into the playoffs. I think we all we picked all three running backs because we lost a big one in Thomas Jones and 1,400 yards from scrimmage just rushing so We need to make that up somewhere and Jake: All three of these guys are gonna play a role in doing that so I want to see how Sean Green handles that starting role I think that's that's a good pick um I think I'm gonna go my last pick. Do it. You already picked Jason Taylor who stops and who will never be a good player ever again. Pick him. I always say that because you know you want to pick him. No, because a dolphin fan came in the room. No you know you know who you want to pick. Justin: I'm picking Vernon G the one I'm gonna pick. Jake: Vernon. Oh, it's I think l be make or break camp tim I think this team, I think get gone by the beginn Justin: I think they would, straight up. There's no value for him. Yeah, but there's no value in like the other guy who's gonna play behind him. I don't think they'll cut him. Jake: It's a roster spot. Justin: For what? I don't think he's dead wood. I think he's just not as good as what he should. Jake: Uncap season. Cut this guy, you take your loss in the uncap season. You then hire someone else for whatever money you want to give them because it's the uncapped season and you move on who knows it'll be Football in 2011. That's it. Right and I you know, I'm rooting for him rooting for the guy Listen, lots of money change your change your title change or whatever. I'm rooting for you to do it Justin: Do it, Vernon. Jake: But, uh, yeah. Go, Vernon, go. He better do it. So, no, and also, I'd like to see some personality. I'm especially, this is a little piece of the hard knocks thing. I mean, I'd like to see some personality out of the guy. Justin: I've said zero sacks. Two years, zero sacks. Six overall picks. Terrible. Jake: Oh, six, like 30 something, 20 something million dollars, like oh god, just pathetic. Oh, and on the signing front, no one signed anybody. So, we got that going for us. Justin: What do you mean no one signed anybody? Jake: Well, no, I mean, we haven't signed our first round.
00 Justin: No, we haven't signed our first round. Jake: And we haven't. And And we haven't signed any deal to the people. Uh, Rivas or Mangold or... Well, Mangold just came out and said he's all in. Justin: He's playing no matter what. No holdouts, nothing. Jake: So that's good. That's good. I mean, I respect that. I mean, a bit frickin' Leon Washington in the ass last year for doing that, but... I respect it. Can't say I don't respect it. I think that's the kind of player he is. We'll see if Rivas is that type of player. You know, we all think that's cool until it gets hurt and you're like, oh, really? I did do that. But anyway, um, I think that it that's kind of wraps this up tweets Tweets tweets You got a tweet? Yeah All right, do we get a phone call? Let's hear it. No phone call. Huh? No phone call. No phone call. Come on guys Justin: 3 4 7 8 5 5 jets 3 4 7 8 5 5 3 8 7 to get on the podcast. Anyway though, we have a tweet. Jake: Okay. Justin: We have a tweet. This is from at silver. 1 1 1 0 Emily Silverwood. She asks who's going to be. Wait. A girl? A girl, yeah. Big Jets fan. Huge Jets fan at silver1110. Always tweeting about the Jets. She must have watched the Hard Knocks preview last evening. And on it, Nick Mangold was talking a little bit about the rookies and how he's looking forward to doing a little hazing. Not hazing, but... Jake: Whatever why not why not hazing use the word hazing they do you know having fun hazing listen I went to boarding school hazing was fine Justin: He essentially said I can't wait cuz rookies always You know, they're my drivers. They drive me so Literally in his car. They drive him around So he said oh, I can't wait to figure out who's gonna be my driver this year to and from training camp or whatnot. So she asks who's going to be at Nick Mangold's driver. The Jets world wants to know and I mean you have to guess Vlad is going to end up being Mangold's driver because they're going to play next to each other. I have to imagine that Vlad Dukas from Stanford, Connecticut will be the driver for Nick Nagle. Jake: That's a good question. It's a question. I have no answer to it's gotta be a rookie so Well, that's true But now that's the thing does it have to be a rookie of the team like of the just came out of the the draft Or can it be a rookie who comes from no can't be no Justin: Rookie Guys well, then you got a choice there
04 Jake: It's not Joe McKnight who by the way just pat who just failed his uh, his his conditioning test wonderful. Excellent It's not gonna be john connor John vlad It's not gonna be Kyle. Well, he's gonna be glad that's not Justin: I think vlad's gonna end up starting that's actually something to watch in the preseason the the battle for the vacant left guard position between slawson and vlad who's gonna who's going to end up being the starter there, because it's going to be a young guy. And it'll be interesting to see who actually wins that battle, because it's a position that has been vacated by a all-time player in Alan Fannica. Jake: Yeah, no, I am in a weird move. But we made our bed. We're going to live in it. Yeah, good question. Good tweet. Jake: We will put up vlog casts of just me banging my head against a wall. Just gshh gshh gshh. Um, yeah so we will keep up the pace until the beginning of the season because we have that magical, we want to get to the magical 100th episode sometime this year so that's all for that. Super Bowl we got. I don't think it doesn't matter. If we're in the suitable it could be our last episode. I'd be so happy. Plus, I think we're going to get a lot of new listeners from the whole Hard Knocks thing. I gotta start tweeting more Hard Knocks news because literally there are going to be thousands of people. Justin: Maybe we'll bring on a special guest or two that might draw some attraction. Jake: Oh, well we're definitely working on that special guest. Hint hint. Hint hint. Hint hint Mark Sanchez apparently. Hahahaha! Tune in for that. Alright let's get you out of here.
