20 Jake: Welcome to Jet Kingdom Podcast, longest running New York Jets podcast ever. We are also not going to make our predictions for the season because we do that beginning season although we could talk about what we think It's gonna happen whatever but I have one precursor thing so I've been watching a lot of NFL now Yeah, and I've been watching a lot of interviews with TB TB Todd Bowles Tim Tebow. No, that's TT. All right. Yeah And he talks a lot about Ike Taylor and Ike Good. Who cares? He's the opposite. He's like, he's like, that's why they hired him. Yeah, no, it's definitely it's like they look to people and they're like, let's hire the opposite. We have white guy, black guy. So that's opposite. I wonder how he speaks out. I got to ask my bills for bills fans about how they're feeling. No, no, no. How they're feeling about Raxi right now. They're going to love it. We love right now. I'm saying why? I the- because... I can deal with his bulls is bulls is going to be Al Davis just win, baby One question they asked him like one says well, how are you gonna deal with the New York media? He's like my job is to coach football. Yes, not to deal with the media. So good. I'll answer the question I love you. I'll talk football and that's it. I love it. He's literally the opposite That's such a great answer. Just win Baby, that's not what he says. I just hope that he has the personality in the locker room to keep these guys entertained Hopefully he's lead bags ample, but I'm but I'm like I'm like yeah, it's a change change of pace All right, so let's talk about schedule this came out on Tuesday All right I like that the NFL makes it to the schedule release into like the coming of Jesus like they make everything into the coming of
05 Jake: everything You of course told me you didn't care. Don't. Um, still don't. Which makes you a terrible fan. Not true. But I love it. Well, A, because I go to so many games, it's like sets the rest of my year. Like I know, am I gonna go, is there a game on Christmas? Are we gonna do this? Do I have to travel for this? What's like, to me it's like... No game on Christmas. It's, to me it's the rest of my year. Plus... It's my thing to look forward to because I get to go, ooh, I get to go with this buddy to this game and this buddy to this game, we have to come down and... So, first of all, we can talk about the preseason. Okay. We play, by the way, we play four games in preseason. Don't care. We go at Detroit. Great. Versus Atlanta at home. Wonderful. At near... Giants which is funny cuz we're at New York Giants twice this year Interesting. They're all night games. I feel like they're always always always night games if they're on the weekdays. They're at night Yeah, and they're all we there. It's like Thursday's Friday Saturday Saturday and a Thursday I kind of like a Saturday night game Which one is that the giant? That's a good one. That's a good one. That's a good one. Yeah, we'll go that one Again, want to get out of that without anybody hurt. All right. And we host the Eagles game four. Yeah, we host Eagles. That's good. We don't have to travel. We're just on the road once, basically. Yeah, we're on the road once and then sit back for four weeks. Yeah, that's nice. Right? We don- we don't have to travel from the 13th of August to the 21st of September. All righty. Well, also they're doing training camp in Forum Park this year. so this No, no travel. Yeah, that's which I'm not sure I'm liking that. I like that There's something about going away. Everybody says it's better if you go away So I'm not no Rex said it was better to go away I think Todd Bowles is putting a new little spin. I don't think things Todd Bowles I think it's they didn't want to do it Rex did and they didn't have enough time to find a new place Guarantee you next year. They'll go away someplace It could be like, it could be Hofstra again, but they're gonna go someplace. Which I don't know why they don't go back to Hofstra. They should go back to Hofstra and get that Long Island crowd in there. Alright. So let's talk about the schedule. You wanna talk highlights? You wanna talk interesting little titty bits? So what's the one game you've already kinda like? BAM that's the game I'm looking forward to game one So ready for game one all right, so we start off in game one You know what game I'm really excited for London game the one thing yeah, because you're going to London. Well. We're going so excited I know I'm sorry. There's a few there's a few the the Highlights of the highlights of my three night games Three two on Thursday nights Nope, one on Thursday night, one on Saturday night. Oh, is that a Saturday? Good job, you pay attention. That's a Saturday? Oh, okay, I just figured NFL Network, it was a Thursday. We have no terrible travel. We only have two back-to-back home away games. We do have to go to the Raiders. Yeah, but when you're coming from New England to go to the Raiders,
01 Jake: it's like you didn't have to go far. And then we get the bonus of... We also have to go to London. Well, we get the bonus of New York, the Giants game, which is an away game, but it's not an away game. Right, and the bonus of playing a road game in London. Right. Which is not really a road game. Right. It's a road game for both. It's a both. It's a neutral site. It's a neutral site, right. So we have like 10... We have two neutral site games, basically. Here's some other stats. We're only playing three... playoff teams. Yeah, because we're last place schedule. So that's kind of interesting. So when you look at our schedule versus the Patriots schedule, there are really only two differences, right? We play the Raiders, they play the Broncos. Right. Good for us. And then the only other change is, what's the other one? We play the Browns and they play the Bengals. Thank you. The Pittsburgh winner? Did the Bengals win? They played Pittsburgh. Oh, no, no, no. They played Pittsburgh. I'm telling you, this is like something I get to schedule. Yeah, you're right, because they opened the season on Thursday with Pittsburgh. Someone was saying we got snubbed by the number of night games. Why? Because we had three? Because the Giants get five and we get three. Yeah, that's fair. But I'm looking at the Patriots and they have one, two, three, four, five. Okay, say five. Why is that a snub? I don't think it's a snub. We were one of the worst teams in the league. We have. Justin: Three, even though somebody wants to watch us on prime time. Jake: On Monday night, we have Thursday night, and then we play, I think that's a big time game, December game against the Cowboys at night. That's a big time game. Yeah. I actually like a Saturday night game, like I'm excited, because I like to watch that game, because then it leaves all Sunday open. Yeah, all Sunday's open. Hopefully we're in good mood. So let's talk about it in quarters. Our first quarter, we start off against Cleveland. At home, oh by the way, I think it's our sixth year in a row, we've had a home game. That's unbelievable. To start with the home game. Mike Hachman comes home. They actually asked not to. The Jets asked not to have that game at home. The open home because of Rosh Hashanah or one of the Jewish holidays. That's around that time, yeah. Usually early September. So they asked not to, but they are. So opening up against Cleveland? I'm okay with it. I think that's a... We don't know what Cleveland's gonna be, but right now, doesn't look like that's a, the terrible team to open up against. Oh, we opened up against Oakland last year, right? They don't have a quarterback. Right, neither do we. But anyway, then we travel to do the repeat. Are you gonna do this game by game? Yeah, why not? All right. Travel to repeat against the repeat of Super Bowl 3. This is why this is a big thing what oh Cuz they're doing that this year for the 50th anniversary. They're gonna highlight these games in primetime We're gonna highlight the mall season long but in time. Well, they're gonna try to get them into prime time You can't get them all cuz there's 50 years and only How many? 17 weeks. Well, we've only made one. But I'm saying, if people are asking why are we on Monday night? Because it's a Super Bowl repeat. Got it. 50th anniversary. So not easy. Going to Indy.
00 Jake: Indy's going to be a good team. Not easy, but whatever. Then we come back and we play Philly. This is the... That's a tough one, I think. This is the Sancho. Sancho Tebow. By the way, Tebow's back with... with Sancho in Philadelphia. Um, sure. Sanchez is loving life. He must just be like, seriously, this guy's seriously this douchebag. And they're talking. It it'll be interesting with the Bradford Sanchez comparisons and whatever. The whole thing is terrible. So we play Philly. Okay. That's a whole read built up team. Basically all different from what it was last year. We'll see what they, what they are and how awesome he has. Then we go. Then we're off. We take a trip to London, right? And we play. I wonder when they'll go. I don't know. When you go like midweek, you go Friday night, Saturday. I don't know. I don't know. I think you go early as you can. Me too. Then you have a dry ride. But that's kind of tough because the London game is not a fun game to play. At least it's not a home game for us. And at least it's, again, it's a team that I feel like we know. Like we know this game. I feel like they could do this better. Yeah, here's my proposal for the NFL. Yeah the week before You go to London. Yeah Like You'd have the Thursday night before yeah I was trying to think how you could do that because both teams can't play on Thursday night unless you have two Thursday night games Because it would really make a whole lot of sense to give teams more time before that week And then obviously they give the bye the week after have Anyway, we're going to the game. I don't care. I'm just asking you really great and it's a 9 30 a.m. Eastern start Which is so cool. Yeah, wake up and watch football. We're not gonna be Like, you know, we're at home again. Now I think comes the, the like toughest kind of schedule travel part. We go at New England. Not a hard schedule though. This quarter of the schedule is pretty, pretty easy if you ask me. Right. But from the travel, I could see, I could see that. Why? Because there's two road games, one of them's on a bus and one of them's against. arch rival and one of the best teams in football. Okay, fine. So I could see that kind of being whatever. So you do at New England, then come back, and then go at Oakland, which is our only West Coast trip, by the way. So that's, well that's good, because sometimes you've seen these teams do the- Well we're playing the NFC East. Right, but I'm saying sometimes you see teams having to go five times over to the West Coast, and- It's all about the division you're playing. And then we do a double home. We do at Jacksonville, but then are home again for a short week to do Buffalo on Thursday night. So our Thursday night this week, which I go this year, they're all divisional. That's what I did last year. So we Buffalo, this is the Rex game. This is, oh my God, that's going to be insane, just all the smack talk of that game.
01 Jake: So we think about that quarter. I guess I wouldn't want to be on the quarter. I think that's an easy quarter. here. Yeah, it doesn't look, it just looks like trap games. Like I could see each, any of those teams being a trap, like, oh, you don't have to worry about them because they're Jacksonville and then, you know, Jacksonville wins-win sometimes. They have to win. Or we're looking at Buffalo games, we don't pay attention to the Jacksonville game, that kind of thing. Then we play Miami at home. Now we have our home stretch, big home stretch, because we play three in a row at home. We play Miami at home. We play, then we stay at home and play New York Giants, which I think the last time we played them, they just destroyed us with that 99 yard whatever. I think they took that one season as well. This is their Super Bowl season, by the way. This is the years that they, when they play the AFC East, they go to the Super Bowl and win and beat the Patriots. Good. That'd be great. No, it wouldn't. No? No. I want to go to the Super Bowl. Oh, yeah, I want to go to the Super Bowl, too, but... Until there's something on the field that I feel can actually get us to the Super Bowl... Listen, I think about it... Well, we don't have a ton of time. Think about it all the time. It's all I think about. I know, but when I... I'm not even kidding. But when you think about this season, you start thinking about Gino Smith as your quarterback. for the season, like, because you know there's a lot of talk, are we gonna draft? And we'll do our draft stuff, we'll talk about who we're gonna do, who we think and whatever. But like, when you think about Gino, you're like, okay. So third year, you know, his guy who never did the huddle, it's two years in, he's got lots of experience, he's got the weapons, he's got a new head coach, he's got a offensive coordinator who's gonna pull in some, some stuff to make him more comfortable, blah, blah, blah, all the same shit we say every year. And then you think. But then you think about the teams that are in the Super Bowl and the teams that win in the playoffs and you think Do you trust that guy the guy you've seen for the last two years never in the playoffs? To go like don't Do not yeah haunt my dreams. Okay, don't stop me from dreaming Sometimes I think about it like just during the day randomly and I start crying Because it ain't gonna happen until I mean if here's of joy. Oh, no, it's not happening So we might do the happy dance nice at Giants. Alright, so then we got the last quarter, which is I I think the toughest one, toughest quarter, probably, because you do at home against Tennessee. Okay, one o'clock, Noel. beaten the piss out of us the last couple years. Yeah, I feel like we've played them for like four straight years. We owe them one loss. Then we go at Dallas and Dallas the team. We don't play that often like no once every four years. Yeah, that's how this works. Right. Well done. Yeah, but we don't play Mr. NFL. We don't really know much about them. Like I feel like they're a very. You know what we're hoping for here. We're almost back to be broken. Yes, the good thing is unlike the last two years You know they have des Bryant and guess what we have a guy who can match up against des Bryant like last year. I'd a Gonna add 200 yards
01 Jake: And a million he's just gonna score right Uh, this year I don't, I don't like in looking at the schedule, that's kind of the fun part. I don't see one team you're scared of team that's scared from a, their offense is going to just jam everything down our throat. Like there's no receiver I'm terrified of, you know, the Colts have Andre Johnson, who cares. ODB. I'm not again. I'm so not. Reavis just makes me feel so good. He does. See, we better feel good because it's going to be a tough season anyway. So at Del Saturday night, that's good. Then we play. And then we kind of end as big games. This is the big game. These rules. Hopefully, actually, let's do hopefully. Hopefully these are games that are playoff. You know what I really want? What? I really, really, really want to make the playoffs. And we play 17. Knocked the team that we're playing out of the week seven we go we have the Patriots at home They'll be maybe resting their player now They don't know and then and then we'll be playing at Buffalo Buffalo To close the season the Rex Ryan revenge game That game means a thing. That's the flex game If that game means anything to either team that game's going to prime time. Where am I going to that game? I'm in. I love me some buffalo. I feel like we need to go to that game. I love me some buffalo. I don't think we need to go to that game. If we're in any contention we gotta go there. Just gotta drive. And just go. I'll drive, I'll fly there. I won't fly. It's easy to fly there. I don't wanna fly. I'll drive. I'm gonna drive. Road trip! Road trip, I'm in. It's like eight hours. Yeah, we make break it up No, I'll just be sleeping. Yes. I drive. Thanks Alright, so if that game means anything for either team though. I feel like it's a Sunday night game fine He's so cold This is gonna be like buffalo this will be a Sunday night game if if either team can make the playoffs with a win Maybe well, it's well one team is terrible got the built-in story though It's got a lot of that story, but it's so hard to look at the schedule. All right. So let's look at some of the other things. That's our schedule. Look at the other schedule stuff that you're on Thanksgiving. Well, let's go. Let's look at the opener. So opener is Pittsburgh at New England. That's kind of interesting. Sorry. Yeah. Not super not super jazzed about that as a. as a team or as a thing. And then the Monday nights on the opener is Philly at Atlanta. Oh, okay. It means nothing. And then Vikings at San Francisco. I feel like they really boost the Monday nighters on that. Monday night, I think, has been... ...booshed. Like, they don't care about Monday night. Yeah, I mean, they really don't, because that's not fun. And Thanksgiving, so what do we got? We got the Eagles at the Lions. So people would be complaining about Thanksgiving. Yeah, people don't like this Thanksgiving, so Eagles at Lions.
03 Jake: Carolina at Dallas. I'm trying to get the, like... And then we have, you know, Bears Packers at night, which... I don't know why anyone would be unhappy about a Bears Packers game I mean that's a really solid third game. I mean you know those Cowboys and Lions games are what they are They're just games. Whatever. They're nothing special. They're just games during the course of the season. I Thought the Jets were gonna be on I thought we were going to play Dallas on on Thanksgiving to get a game on CBS. But now that CBS can write an NFC NFC game, they, you know, they just made it Carolina at Dallas. But I thought, you know, Dallas is only hosting two AFC teams, and I thought that we might have a chance at that. But apparently not. I was gonna say let's just look at the Sunday night schedule. Can you see the Sunday night schedule? Is there a way to get to that here? Google get you there Google's getting me there Alright, so like the Sunday night, you know supposed to be the best games. So Pittsburgh at New England Giants at Cowboys. Okay rivalry. That's always a Sunday night game see how every single day every single year That's a good one. See acts at Green Bay That one also always seems... Wish it was later in the season. I feel like... Always that game, they seem to play each other every year. Broncos at Lions. I feel like that's a throw-out game. What's that? A lot of... Why is that? A lot of offense. Cowboys at Saints. Again, don't doubt that's a good one. Another offense game. 49ers at Giants. I don't think that's a good game. So I don't think the nyers are gonna be any good. Patriots at Colts. I think that's a good game. One Eagles at Panthers. Boy, this is not a good Thursday, Sunday. So Thursday or Sunday night? This is Sunday. Packers Broncos. Eagles Cowboys is good. So here's a good stretch, right? Packers Broncos, Eagles Cowboys. Cardinals Seahawks could be good. Chiefs Chargers could be good Bears Packers is a Thursday. I don't think any of these were that good Pats Broncos I'm not gonna ask Brady Manning cult Steelers Seahawks Ravens will be good Then and since any angles at 49ers these can all be flexed. Yeah, that's true. These can come out of there so Anybody to tell? So good, so how are, 10 plus 2 plus 3, I think we have a 13 game season. That's crazy. Yeah. I like, I love going to games. Alright, so we'll be back next week.
00 Jake: We don't know a ton of times we can't do all the draft talk and we can get this now out so we can come back and just focus in on draft. Just focus on draft. So what are you committing to? Are you committing to making some picks and talking intelligently? I'm committing to making a first round. Named named selection the first three rounds. No, I will name my first round pick I will then give positions of need for the rest of the rounds. Okay, we pick some players like the no like I do not know these players. I am NOT Todd McShea. I am NOT Mel Kiper I do not know nor nor do I pretend like those idiots that I know what's gonna happen Because they have no clue. They're all over the place that's why Todd McShay's on official Todd McShay draft Mach 7.2.4 course cuz he's an idiot What is easy get paid to prognost? about things that you can never control. I like that they say risers and followers. Like these guys are rising up. What have they been, they've done nothing. I know there's nothing going on. They're sitting at home. They've been rising because you've been talking about them and then they've dropped because you stopped talking about them. You idiot. All right, well we'll come back and make some picks. We'll do that early in the week. My dick is a riser. Wow. This podcast just went over the top. That just just happened. That just happened. All right. We'll be back next week. We'll do. Some draft talk. Draft pack. And then the week after we're we'll have to do a draft review D talk about the winning. As team. Jake and Justin saying as always. Let's go, Chats! You
