00 Justin: Oh The best place to be is when expectations are high get used to it Jake: Welcome to the JK podcast, the longest running near jets podcast ever. I'm Jake and the asshole across from me is Justin has already pissed me off once. So we'll see how the rest of this podcast goes. Um, we have a lot of news. Hey, Justin, how you doing? Did we record that part? Justin: Very much. Ah, dick. Uh, yeah. Pretty much. Um, see that's what kind of fun this is. Uh, this is just a blast. Hey, congratulations on... Picking the Super Bowl. From the very moment in August. Jake: Alright, so I so wanted Russell Wilson to be MVP. Yeah, but he wasn't. If I nail it... He could have been easily could have picked anybody on Seattle Justin: Not March on Lynch. Yeah, personally I had to go it had to go to the defense. They did that's very very Fantastic of shutting down like the best offense ever in NFL history As far as point scored. Let's not let's not get ahead of it. But yes, I had to go to someone on the defense But thank you. Um, I did pick Congratulations, whatever that's actually pretty cool. Nothing. I get absolutely nothing because you were in vegas when you could have actually done something about it Jake: You know, no, I couldn't I could have picked no I picked that I was in vegas in may I picked that in september Justin: Yeah, you could have done something about it in may though. You didn't Jake: No, you could have I didn't know who was oh, man, you couldn't just remember I knew I know I made the pick in September 3rd. Yes. Nope the podcast is September 3rd. I've listened to it Justin: Yeah, you could have you on the other hand were so wrong. It was ridiculous Jake: That's how good actually, you know what your wrongness fueled my rightness I'm so good cuz I was so damn correct and you were so absolutely wrong. I can pick next year Super Bowl right now. Do it. Jets. No way. You've made that prediction too. I think we're two years away. And since I'm the one who actually breaks good Super Bowls, I think you should listen to me. But let's go back in time. So when we last spoke... We had not done Jets House, right? Justin: No, no, we didn't do any of the Super Bowl experiments. Have we done media? I think we had done Media Day. Yes, we did Media Day, but we had not done the Jets House, which was a week ago today. We're recording this on Friday. So it was the Friday before Super Bowl. You and I and the wife. your wife and your child went to Jet's House.
02 Justin: Which was at- Can you, do you want to explain what Jet's House was? Yeah, now that I've done it, I can explain it. So is that Lugos? Yep. The restaurant in the city near Penn Station. And they basically rented out, or leased it or whatever, it and the restaurant next door to it. And basically just turned it into like- House of Jets. I mean, the whole place was redesigned. It was like Jets wallpaper stick stuck everywhere. It's just you walked into like the home of the Jets, right? And it was they had interviews. So some of the like when we got there, Emerson Boozer was being interviewed for an hour. And it was on a PA system so you can hear it. Rex Ryan was there. He got interviewed for an hour talking. Yep. They had TVs going. They were showing like classic moments from Jets history and moments from this season and all sorts of cool jet stuff. They had a buffet for food. Open bar for drinks Autograph booth session where like Joe Kletko was there signing autographs Rex Ryan was signing autographs Nick folk was signing autographs Marvin Jones was signing autographs And then the guys were walking just walking around hanging out. I had a a real fun time talking to Ray Mickens for like five to ten minutes. He was just the coolest guy ever. And I'm short. I'm like five five five six. We're standing there talking eye to eye. Like Ray Mickens really is no taller than five seven or five eight at most. He's a short dude. Yep. But he did his thing. He was a really good player and we had fun talking. We talked. about that 98 went to Denver in the AFC championships and But we were the ball was kicked off to us and a wind gust picked up or something And we didn't catch the ball and Denver recovered The ball and like it kind of tumbled from there He also said that was the best team he ever played on And I asked him I was like, well, don't you feel like the next year? We could have done something in 99 but vinny tore up his achilles in the first game And he was like to be really honest You know, I can't say yes because you don't know how good you are till December. He said, you don't know how good you are until like, like injury stuff shakes out and you really don't come together until December.
02 Justin: Which I found really, really interesting because he played like his entire career with the Jets except like one season he played with the Pats for Belichick in 2006. And he was like, yeah, we knew we weren't good enough in 06 to win. We didn't have the weapons, but, um, I just really thought that that was really interesting. I thought that 99 team, they come right back with Vinny and Curtis Martin and that defense and they'll be fine. And it was like, he's like, no, we never even got started. I was at that game that, uh, the Vinny game, the Vinny hurt game. Tom to put through it. Jake: touchdown. Yep, I was at the game. I was with my buddy Alan who you know who has tickets he had in the lower bowl and I remember that happened and I guess I was I mean every year I've just kind of gotten more and more of a crazy Jets fan so I was it kind of I was like a little budding Jets fans I remember feeling like really pissed and like oh my god But I didn't, I guess now, if like my quarterback, It was, so JET's experience. Very cool. Did it make a top 10 list? Of my all time JET's experiences? JET's experience, yes. Justin: Um, I mean I've been to a ton of games. Yeah, it does because it was different. It wasn't a game. It was more personal. There wasn't that many people there. I mean there was a lot of people but not... Right to the point where you couldn't move right? I mean we high-fived Rex. Yeah, we did I Got a fist bump from Marvin Jones picture taken with Nick Folger taking when Nick Folk had a five ten minute one-on-one conversation with Ray Mickens saw a legend in boozer and You know, it was just a nice atmosphere that they created as a jet fan. It really felt like you're in a Jets thing. Jake: Yeah, and people were just, I mean, everybody was there just dressed and, you know, everyone had a Jets gear on. It was a to cool thing. Justin: I mean, we've done other cool things. Like we've toured the stadium. We've gone to like. season ticket holders stuff at the at the practice facility to walk around the practice facility Take a tour of the locker room, right? We've done stuff like that But this is way better than that and yeah, it'll go up there. I mean, they're obviously games Yeah, there's like four or five games. I better like Jake: Like going to see Curtis Martin get inducted. I know that's in my top 10 like obviously obviously the Monday Night Miracle in the Meadowlands the championship or the game against Patriots, the two championships even though we lost both they were just amazing being there. Indy was better obviously we're up by 11 at the half and still lost.
05 Justin: You go up at the half but you face Manning or Elway. It was not safe. Jake: It was very cool and I will say, and again I think I said this last time, but I would say the Jets organization I think did a very nice thing. We didn't go to the night session, we went to the day session and I thought it was good value for the money. Like I was actually like, oh, I don't feel like I... Payed I mean it was 50 bucks a ticket. That was a bar open. We had a bunch drinks We had food the food was really good It was good, and then you got to go to other sections Justin: They had even more beers and more food and like different kinds of food like high and the gals was making gals was rolling Jake: Sushi like how pretty cool is that? So we did that that was Friday And we walked Super Bowl Boulevard Friday. And then we walked Super Bowl. We went to Macy's, went to the big NFL shop. Justin: Oh my God, they took over Macy's on the fourth floor. We bought toboggan ride tickets and none of us used them. No, it's a charity thing. It was a charity. We donated the five dollars. We walked up. Jake: The line was just crazy. Yeah, we walked up Super Bowl Boulevard. We did all of that. Justin: My buddy and I went later after I left. You we went later on and was like, all. Are we going to go on this toboggan ride and the line wrapped around like three times. We're like, forget it. Then we walked up a little bit further where they had the field goal. Right. And we're like, oh, should we try and kick field goals? Like, it'll be embarrassing and all. And there's a lot of people watching, but maybe. But then we looked at the line and it was like, no. For all the cool stuff that, you know, New York was able to pull off with Super Bowl Boulevard. It was a bit much that Friday night. Like we could not move. It took us at times like 20 minutes to walk a block. We were just stuck in people. And it just wasn't how I would imagine other Super Bowl host cities handling like the NFL experience, which this tried to mimic. Thank you. is just putting it in a big empty space. A lot or something. And not in like an urban center where you're just like up Broadway. And it's only as wide as it can be because the street is only as wide as it is. Jake: But I think that's, I mean, the crowds are crazy and definitely going at that time. Justin: There's a flair to it, which is awesome. Jake: I mean, literally the thing, it was in the middle of Times Square. And Times Square is one of the... and top most recognized places on the earth. Justin: I felt like I was there for New Year's. It was that, nuts. Like we walked past where the Lombardi Trophy was. And the line was like three hours long. They basically were like, you could sort of stop and snap pictures of it through the window and the cops were like. Just on their megaphones like keep moving you got to keep walking You're making it worse Keep walking because people were just stopping because they couldn't get in right line was so long They're like the lines cut off. We're opening again tomorrow at 12 right get here by 10
00 Justin: It was like that crazy to get into some of the like Or to do some of the more Desirable things to do right it's a bargain ride the kick in the field we did do rush zone I mean I did do the rush zone that took only like 15 minutes to get in that took 35 minutes Jake: Yeah, it wasn't it was much longer than you think Justin: So that was Friday Friday you did fun stuff and then I did. Yeah, I do Saturday Jake: So if something really fun if you haven't If you didn't know, no, I did get tickets to Super Bowl this year. And I got into the party at night. So there's a, obviously, there's huge parties around Super Bowl weekend. And, you know, all the different sponsors throw them. And sort of the number one party, my understanding is the Directivity party. They're one of the biggest sponsors. They took over this massive area down on the pier, this pier 40, this massive massive area, and they built this huge tented whatever, and it was big open bar huge party. Took us an hour and a half in the line to get in. To get into the party? Took us less time to get into the Super Bowl the next day. Justin: So to get into the party it was... Pier 40 is like how do you even get there? You... Jake: we went down and we walked over, but anyway... It was it was huge, it was beautiful, it was a huge stage, a DJ, bars everywhere, food everywhere, and then Jay-Z performed. Jay-Z performed? That's pretty cool. Jay-Z did a whole set. He did like an hour and a half set. That's fantastic. And then he brought out and then like he brought out Beyonce and they did a song together. Everybody went cuckoo crazy for Beyonce when she came on. And then afterwards they just brought the DJs again and I mean we left at like 350 in the morning it was It was a lot of fun. It was a really... It was one of those events like you're not at a concert because you look around and you're like, there's not. The weird thing was there was almost nobody in anything that was sports related. It was everybody in suits and jackets and like, you know, jacket and whatever. And there was maybe three fans that were in like... You wouldn't know you had Justin: to do it. Jake: I wore a suit. Not a Jets jersey. I didn't wear a Jets jersey. No, I would not have been... My wife would not have let me in with a Jets jersey. We would have to dinner or whatever. It was fabulous. So then Sunday, so we were back at four in the morning. We basically caught some sleep and then basically got up and went in, went to the Super Bowl. We had... There was certain types of fan ways to get there and one of the ways was this thing called the Fan Express. best. We caught them around the city and I'll tell you we caught it. Well, there's a story. It left it is supposed to believe it to it left it 155.
01 Jake: We were in the parking lot walking towards the stadium like 220 because they had everything barricaded off like six bus lanes came down. They went down 42nd Street. They went right through the tunnel. It was like I've never gotten to the game faster in my life. And. Just a couple myths about the Super Bowl. So, you know, I went to the Super Bowl, a couple myths. One is that there's no fans. Bullshit. That place was louder than some Jets games I've gone to. The Seahawks fans were incredibly loud and they were there. And the Broncos fans were there. That place was packed with fans. So I, this whole myth, we always have like all the total core sponsors. Yeah, it might be corresponding prices, but that was fans and they were loud and they were there and they were just I feel the 12th Man, I did not feel the 12th man. It's like woman. I felt you feel like the 12th man was like Justin: Real deals even on the road Yeah, there was only half obviously. No, it was more they were more Seattle. Oh, yeah They were more and they were louder. Jake: So the 12th man was loud. When we were going through the, when we were going down, because they have a chant, like, this is the thing, you gotta have a chant. I can't imagine what it'll be like when the Jets are there. I hope I'm young enough to enjoy it, but like all the way there, and this is a mixed bus. So I had Broncos, and everybody was so happy. That's the other thing, it's a myth. It's like... These are the two happiest fans on the planet. They're going to the game of their life I talked to so many people from out of town. They came to New York. They were they went to Central Park They're like, this is the greatest experience ever. We really love this. It's wonderful. New York has been great I mean, it was like a love fest about New Jersey. I was in Jersey They didn't say anybody. I mean come on it was a farce. That's a farce. Anyway But they were doing the Seahawk chant. Seahawk chant? Was it go hawks? Justin: No, they do. See hawks. See hawks. See hawks. It's not very creative, but it gets people going. So that was the one myth. Did Broncos fans do the incomplete? No. To their own player, yes. To Manning. Jake: Manning completed a lot of passes. He did. Just couldn't score. So. Um. So we get there early, so it was there at 2.30. We didn't get into the tailgate party. Again, they had lots of parties going on. This was the big tailgate party. That was fun. They had like Rock of Ages and like just again food and things everywhere. We had a good time. Open bar. Great time there. And then we went into the game. in. I don't know five something no around six. How long did it take to get into this? That was the joke here Justin: Remember you told thought you were gonna be outdoors for five hours four seconds because he'd already gone through security Oh, it was literally walking from the racetrack to the game It was for so you had already once you're like on the premises you're through security through your man. They should do that for Jets games Jake: That'd be so you are once you're in that area you're oh you mean like up for the tailgate Yeah, because they had the whole place barricaded right like there was a bigger section on the inside these big tents right and you go Through the big tent I was saying going in was I mean Chris Collins worth was in the line with us really
02 Jake: Aaron Paul Aaron Paul was there and the line, I gave them a high five, so we walked through. Everybody was on one level. Yeah, bitch. Yeah, bitch. It was a lot of fun. And then the game, they had all these ice sculptures, which was really fun. They had tons of that stuff going on. Oh, so the way the tailgate, I was gonna say the way the tailgate was brought. So it was in the race track, in the Metal Gear Race track. Justin: Which is renovated. Is it really nice? I don't know what it was before. It's okay. I mean you were inside or outside? Oh, inside. It's all inside. It's renovated. It's nicer. Jake: It's nicer. All right, whatever. They're all like clubs and restaurants. The funny thing they did to it was they split the sides of it. One side was New York, one side was New Jersey. So all the food on one side was all New York food, one side was all New Jersey food. Where'd you guys go? We just walked around, you just walked around and then you like get a beer here and you go over here and they have they had Desserts they had it was just and four fours of it. You just could go up and up music party music in every side Justin: It was it was really fun. So how was the actual experience of going the game? So I sat in Jake: 249 B So if you jet fans, I don't know if that means anything to you. One thing is they took the ends of the stadium, I think I have a picture, maybe I showed you, they took the ends where you kind of could go up and like where that goes underneath, they took it and they closed them off and built huge like indoor suites for media. So I'll show you like. So you mean behind you? The last seven rows were gone and they built these massive things and people sat up there. Justin: Everything was... They do that for playoff games, for baseball. Well, they used to before they had like, like in the old Yankee Stadium, now they have huge press boxes but like they used to take off section. Part of a section and just block it completely off for press. They did it at basketball games too. Jake: This was built up because the press box, it's huge, but not super huge. So they must've taken a hundred seats that were in the two end zones. Um, everything again, what I've said, they've already asked me, it was the most amazing time from everything I did, except for the actual game. kind of was It was a crapo game, which we'll talk about in a second. Everybody got a heat pack, and I'll show you. Oh, that's cool. They show you like a, no, it was a thing to hang over. So it was like one of those CD things. You sit on it, but then there's a pack in it. And they had heating things. They had gloves. They have a hat. They had- They're handing that all out? No, it was on your seat. When you got there- Oh, that's really cool. Everything to be warm. It was great. It was really cool. like It was this whole thing to stay warm. Lips chapstick. They just said they had gloves. They had. Yeah, it was very cool. Justin: You didn't have to buy all the giveaways. Yeah, I gave them to you. Jake: They gave them to you. So that was cool. Justin: I really want to even talk about the game. Jake: Well, let's talk about the game, but just one last thing.
01 Jake: The stadium I and I go, you've gone on record saying you don't like the stadium. I thought the stadium performed. I know it's a stupid to say, but the stadium performed wonderful. Justin: No one was. Like pass like a intentional grounding in the end zone zone. Yeah, the Giants went up to nothing. And then in last year's Super Bowl, Baltimore stopped. And instead of being able to run the clock fully out, Just ran around in the back of the end zone took a knee safety and then in this game there was a safety That's crazy. So there were three safeties in the last four games or the last four super bowls, which is kind of nutty It was just terrible. I don't think denver ran the ball nearly enough or tried to run the ball as much as they should have Manning just didn't look like the same guy that played all year long Jake: Yeah, you sent that picture to our Giants friend was saying with the with him ripping off the head Justin: It was Eli and me ripped off his his man Which is kind of stupid because Eli's a much better suitable quarterback Eli was awful this year in that stadium It was just really bad It's funny because like he had this really bad game man and his stats don't really back that up like he completed 34 passes which is a lot of passes to complete but he threw H a bad pick he fumbled or he threw two picks sorry and he lost a fumble so he turned the ball over three times He looked completely lost Seattle's defense was just everywhere all over the place on did they sack him though? They sacked him once like I didn't really sack him. They were just he looked very nervous in the pocket Jake: Well, they were around him. They were Justin: Knocking him off his but a man rush. I mean, that was the whole thing I keep they didn't have to rush a lot to get them. They apparently didn't do anything special Seattle's so insult they they they were just like we played our base Blob defense, but we knew what was coming, so we had it all figured out.
05 Justin: They just couldn't get anything, they really just couldn't. And Seattle was very efficient. They did what they had to do, they put points on the board. They didn't, they weren't nervous about like, oh crap. Like they scored three times safety and two field goals. They had scored three times and only put eight points on the board. Right. They didn't get nervous about it or waiver or move off their game plan at all. Russell Wilson played a fantastic game as far as like he did what he had to do. Did not turn the ball over. Did not get sacked. Did not have any negative plays really. And Percy Harvin was a factor, the special teams factor, just a better defense. I mean, they were like, they beat them on the first play of each half. It was like safety. And then the kickoff, it was like, all right, maybe if Denver can just get a three and out or not let them score and then go down the field, it's like a two possession game and we got some. Boom touchdown 29 nothing games over it's literally over that I mean for the highest scoring thing Jake: I didn't think it was over until I mean even at that point they return that kick Justin: I I was like I could go home I'm done this game's over the way they looked in the first half it was over John There was that shot there was that one year anyway. Yeah, I feel any different. I mean it felt done Jake: I didn't feel it's done because you know when you're in stadium it's always like you look at the clock you like oh Justin: There's tons of time left. It's only like like Seattle fans must be just going ape shit Jake: They never fan must have been sitting on their hand. They were they were upset. They were definitely games over that game was over that I mean, that's the thing looking back at it It was looking back at that game that game was over Maybe the mist feel the mist when Joe Willie nameth Flip the thing wrong. Like maybe it was over then. Well head start little little false start false start on the flipping coin that that that um The safety was kind of the end of the game Like if you look back at if you're gonna say well, what kind of set the mood it just looked like Denver didn't play anymore. They just like didn't come out. They could not get in a rhythm. They could not do anything. They couldn't. Nobody was a factor. And whereas, you know, all Seattle had to do is kind of, I mean, they scored one on special teams and one on one on defense, and then just went up and just scored normally. It keeps the record though that when the great defense meets the great offense, Justin: the defense wins. I really didn't see it happening, but There it was, it happened. They were just much more prepared. The young quarterback played an incredible the game. Just did what he had to do. Nothing spectacular, but did what he had to do.
05 Justin: And the defense played... Like a number one defense should write like they really said here we are We're the best defense in the league. We don't give a fuck that you're the best offense We're better than you right were they just were and then afterwards like when guys were Talking like you know really the Super Bowl was the NFC Championship game They're totally right because the Niners would have crushed Denver the same way I totally feel like the Niners were actually the best team this season And I feel like if they didn't have to go play that NFC Championship game in Seattle They would have beaten them. Oh, yeah on a neutral field even not even at home Jake: I feel like 49ers were the best team I think I just watched Seattle Seahawks on neutral field do pretty well Justin: I get it But I feel like the Niners are in and those two teams are in a completely different class than Jake: Any other team in the league so what would you think of your head coach if they said after the game that like one that? Cuz I think Wes Walker said this after games like you know what we didn't we didn't prepare for was the noise Justin: Well, that's just terrible in the terrible. Don't you feel like well I watched The NFL Network's been replaying and they had a sound effects that show sound effects Yep, so they had the Super Bowl was an hour long. So it was a really long sound effects for one game, right? And like they showed the, you know, the beginning, the safety, obviously. And, um, Manning came off the field and went over to the offensive coordinator and said, I screwed up. We should have been in silent. Didn't realize it was going to be this loud. Should have went to silent. Like should have just done it. Like not, because they were not in their silent count. And They did not, I think it caught them off guard. And it showed, because they had that saved. But after that, it shouldn't matter a lick. After the first play, and you're like, all right, we fucked up, and then they give up a field, well fine, it's five nothing. Because of shit, you score 30 something points a game every week, so you're down five. Jake: I think that's maybe the other point, is that this team kind of never really thought it was. They never really kind of felt they were in trouble until it was too late. Like, I feel like their sense of urgency was like, Justin: effects kind of proves that you watch it and like champ Bailey's on the side and he's all like, all right, so it's 15 nothing, whatever. Like we scored 30 points like right in a half, whatever. And it's to nothing. And you're like, oh, well, you know, we can do this. Yeah. And I mean, the coaches have to be like that. They're like, well, this is just the reverse of that of that New England game. No worries. We were up 24 nothing. They. scored and beat us like we can do this whatever I mean they have to be that way but you could sort of see it they were beat they were beat and they and it was you know they couldn't get their running game going you know they went three and out a ton in the first quarter like I don't think they got a first down till the second quarter which is insane And that that short passing attack just was not going to work.
00 Justin: And it just proved Manning couldn't stretch the field against the not against the Seahawks. He could not go down the field like the Marius Thomas is big down the field. He had 13 catches, but for only 118 yards, it's like nine yards a catch. Who cares? Like you keep the guy in front of you like, you know. Manning for all he completed 34 Completions that's a lot of completions, but for only 280 yards. It's nothing right. It's nothing It's like fine take that right and when I'm gonna hit you hard Jake: Oh one and once they got and once they got down I think that's when the defense is like yeah, you're not doing this like no, you can't run anymore Justin: He took a couple shots down the field Really didn't have the arm for it. That's the thing like he's just and I said this before I just don't think he has the arm left anymore He missed to Mary's Thomas on one or two plays that he was open Downfield yeah, and he just One of them one of them was like really could probably could have been a touchdown He missed him in the seam and it was like oh Like you just under threw it a little bit and if you would have thrown it out there over the over everyone's head Thomas is gone Jake: It's it's game would have been over anyway. It's just amazing that this is like that Justin: It's the greatest season ever. I know so like he really Jake: Flubbed the Super Bowl. Yeah, and cuz then you remember that's the way you remember Justin: Yeah, you remember by any losing again in the playoffs and having still a losing record in the playoffs for his career Jake: He has the most losses ever in the history of any quarterback. Justin: And as under 500. Jake: Right. for such a great quarterback because he went up to 500 and 8 and then and then he lost the Super Bowl Justin: And the whole season, I think they said said the Broncos were leading. Or in the lead, 65% of the time during the regular season, which is a lot. Yeah, like that. I don't think that includes ties. That's just like in the lead. So like they obviously were not able to play from behind, which is, you know. You'd think a throwing team would be able to but oh Jake: Well, yes, well didn't work out for them. Oh, well, they didn't do well I thought and here's the thing Seahawks are gonna be a good team next year. Probably I don't think they'll get half the recipe Justin: They've got the cheap quarterback cheap quarterback. They have to pay that dude Wait till they have to pay him it's 17 18 million dollars. Maybe see what happens Jake: Maybe he'll suck next year and they can you know, no once you win that Super Bowl you've got a lot There's a thing. Do you think if you because he's a second year guy He's not the face of that franchise. Like if you think that you're a good scout or whatever Why wouldn't you just get rid of him and, let of go somewhere else and you get another one? Because that's the recipe. Wait, and this is a
02 Jake: You know if theoretical conversation if the recipe is get a quarterback and fill the guys around him Then why not when he gets expensive let him go and another cheap quarterback why not just keep doing that Justin: It's a very fair question. I actually can't answer it properly because I think it's about right if you look back I mean If you look back at all the winners like once Brady got paid, I'm not sure he won another Super Bowl. He got there. I don't. Think he won another one. Same thing. Now Manning was getting paid when he won. Rogers wasn't getting paid. Flacco wasn't getting paid. Eli wasn't getting paid for that first one. I think that got paid for that second one. Name it like, you know, you can make an argument each way. I happen to think Russell Wilson's kind of special, so he's gonna be pretty good. Um, so I think I think he'll he'll be good. Jake: Um Yeah, I think Russell Wilson's is is darn good. Again two years hard to judge a lot on you know Whether he can you know come back and be that good year after year after year after year Justin: Because the second he's shown it second year. He's won playoff games. He's gotten to the playoffs both years It's won the Super Bowl. It's pretty damn good. It's pretty good. You know, Ben Roethlisberger was like this for the Steelers. Yeah, he won in his second year. But they're going to have trouble. They're not going to be able to get rid of him because you could say now he's not the face of the franchise, but guess what? He will face the franchise. Now there is no face. So he's he's going to demand some money. And he's the winningest through two years. He's the winningest quarterback in the history of the NFL through his first two years. That's pretty good. So if he keeps on this trajectory, he's going to have to get paid like the best quarterback or the most. Jake: Again, I mean, it's the it's the team you'd want to play for. If you're, quarterback, no matter how good you are, if you're manning, Pete where If the team you want to put you want to play in, amazing D, a great running game, and a great home field advantage. Yeah, absolutely. They go 8-0 to start the season. They start. Justin: 7-1-8-0, something like that. You know you got 7 or 8 wins. There's 7.5. There's 7.5 and they're baked in. Baked in. I basically have to go win 4 games on the road. That's it. I'm in the playoffs. Jake: That's it. And you know, and two of them will be on the other side and two of them are going to be on your division. Those are going to be tough. Well, three in the division. No, I'm saying you got to win two of those in your division. One of them, like you're not going to win the one on the road against the 49ers, but you could win the one against the Rams. Right. The Rams are tough. Right. Justin: That's actually the best division in football, I think. I think this year was I don't know if it is. Certainly was this year. It's kind of funny because three years ago was a joke. Yeah. Jake: Well, that shows you how they can turn real quick. We'll see if the Rams, if we'll see if the Rams and the Cardinals can turn their fortunes around.
00 Justin: But they were all above 500. Yeah. Or 500 teams. Like the Rams were not a bad team at all. And they had to play with Kellen Clemens for a nice chunk of the season. And they won games. Jake: He's a second round draft pick though. He was really good. Justin: They won games though. Arizona went, I think 10 wins and they beat Seattle in Seattle. Yeah, so that that's a good team, too Jake: Yeah, I feel like there I feel like they're like their team Those are the teams that go up and down where the 49ers and the Seahawks will be consistently good I think the Rams you could see them next we they could win six games and Cardinals could run eight But like the 49ers and the Seahawks will both win nine games at least ten. We'll see right next year All right. Do we have some just news or should we save it? Justin: We hired a special teams coordinator. Yeah, he's been around everywhere Thomas McGee. He Thomas McGee. He all right And what is that? What does that mean for us? Not much. We just have a different special teams guy combine starts in two weeks Jake: Wow I know we were commenting today that it's like the NFL has got this perfectly like you the literally the Super Bowl's over the first week And then you like ready for combine I am excited for the draft. I really am. I think that was one of my top 10 things to being at the draft, going to the day one of the draft. That was actually awesome. Maybe you'll come this year. Why don't you work with me to to what to the draft? Justin: You know, these huge draft fan, but maybe go to a live draft like I've been. I've been to I've never been to the football one. So maybe I'll go to the first round. Yeah, that's the only one you go to. Right. Yeah. I only go to the first round. Yeah. When is it? Jake: It's Thursday, oh it's like three days before you get married. Justin: It's in March though. Jake: Yeah, it's three days before you get married. I get married in May. Oh, sorry. It's in May. It's two days before you- It's in May? Yeah, it's because the final draft is on your birthday. Yes. Justin: Oh, then I'll go because I'm getting married that Saturday and that Thursday is gonna be my last day of work. Oh, okay. For like three weeks. There you go. So yeah, I'm in. Well, we'll see if I get tickets or whatever. We'll see. See if the future wife lets me go out for one last night. Yeah, it was, it's fun. Jake: I mean, we'll be picking, we'll be picking a like two hours in or an hour and a half in so you get to sit there and kind of whatever and BS around, you know, drinks drinks and food and it's kind of fun. All right. Well, that's back. So we got to start our draft talk a soon. Although it's whatever, we gotta start combine time, but we might take and week off. We might take a sweet week. Justin: Yeah, we might take a week. We'll see if there's any news. Jake: If there's news, well Free Agency, I think is the next big, it's March. Yeah, combine's bullshit. March 11th is Free Agency. Justin: As far as this podcast is concerned, the combine's bullshit. If we had the first overall pick, I'd be like, all right, let's talk about the combine. I don't really give a fuck. Jake: You know, big, big news will be the free agency. Obviously wide receivers out there will have to go through them while we go through who's out there, who the Jets should be targeting. Justin: You know, what is a couple of speculations on like Maclin and Nick, manual Sanders, Sanders.
01 Justin: None of these guys to me are number one receivers. Jake: Now, neither one of those two are. Justin: Eric Decker could be, I think. Jake: But I don't think deckers number he's a number one on our team, but he's not number one on Justin: I think he could be a number one receiver though. He's got like the size and the skill set to be I don't think I Think he's a great number two like Emmanuel Sanders to me. He's like not even a number two receiver I don't yeah, Macklin off the ACL. I don't really think is I don't think the wide receivers is that great Jake: this year. I think we need to draft one. Golden paints a free agent. It's like no. We need to draft one. Yeah, I agree and Markies Lee is the one. Markies Lee. Yeah, he's the one that everybody has those targeted for. All right, well let's get out of here. Happy Super Bowl to everybody. I hope you enjoyed the game. It was great. They definitely didn't. I hope you enjoyed thinking that I was there because that was important. All right, well it's Jake and Justin will be back. whenever we are and Sand as always go Jets Thank you.
