09 Jake: The best place to be is when expectations are high. Justin: Get used to it. It's always gonna be that way. Jake: Welcome to Jet Kingdom Podcasts, the longest running New York guest podcast ever. I'm Jake and joining me who might be, now he's acting like a D hole and a B hole and a C hole is Justin. Justin: How many holes? So many holes. A, B and C hole? What's the C hole? cool. Jake: I don't know, I can show you on a doll. It's where your teachers used to touch you. Justin: The custard hole? The custard. Jake: Wow, I don't know, you really want to go as explicit as what that was... The custard hole? The custard hole. Yeah, the custard hole. Well, welcome back, buddy. Happy New Year! Oh, you too! Did you have a good New Year's? Have a nice Christmas? I haven't seen you in like 30 seconds. I just haven't played in 4 weeks. Justin: That's true. You know what sucks? I wasn't able to watch the last game that Miami. Oh, it's such a good game I couldn't watch it. I was on a cruise ship enjoying the sun and they only had one game on in each time slot a national Games, I remember you saying I have. No problem watching it from the. I've never been. I go on a cruise every year that time And i Each time slot and it was like those national games It was cool because they had a movie theater screen on the on the pool day said this and they're gonna set up the Jets game No, no, no, they set up the Sunday night game. I did get to watch that Cowboys Eagles game on a huge movie screen with the sound and there were a lot of fans like of each team really rooting it was kind of fun. Well we have a shit ton we have a shit ton to talk about. We have some stuff to talk about so let's move through it because I gotta just get out of here in like 45 minutes. Jake: We'll just we'll put in 45 minutes worth of time. So basically going back before that game right I think we predicted Do we even have one before that game? No, because it looks like we didn't even predict the Jets versus Miami. No, we didn't, but we both thought that Rex was gonna get fired. Yeah, we did. We were dead ass wrong. We were wrong. Those last two games, he saved his job. He saved his job. He really did save his job, those last two games. Justin: And guess what? Now I'm reflecting on it, we were wrong and I'm... Jake: you Justin: I'm not going to be wrong. I'm looking at guys that are and are getting hired. I'm like, Jim Caldwell? No thank you. Well, I really, really the guy acts no thank you. We both Jake: said that and I remember saying before and we'll get back to some of the things I said that were smart. But remember saying in the preseason like he needs to make the playoffs
01 Jake: to prove that he should have, you know, to be able to stay on as a coach. And because that seemed like the bar. This team, I think, made the emotional playoffs because they played hard for him every single moment. They loved playing for him and he showed a direction that even though it kind of slumped in the middle there, he like at the end turned it on. I think that literally those last two games could have been his job. Those last two games, those that team totally out of the playoffs with nothing to play for, played hard, balled, had a good time. And the best part of the whole thing was watching that reaction video, which I'm sure you've seen a couple times, of them just going insane when they heard that he was coming back. And it made you think, yeah, I... Because I remember someone, we were sitting in one of those games, it was the Cleveland game, and we were talking to some guys next to us about Rex and do you want him back or not? And he said, what coach has been more successful as a New York Jets head coach than Rex Ryan? And he was like, what coach would you want? Like, back? And you think, oh... It's not so much, did he do the job this year? It's kind of like, well, what would you be trading up for? What guarantee do you have in the pocket that you could go with that you could- Justin: It's not like Jim Harbaugh sitting there as a free agent. You get to go sign, or either of the Harbos are sitting there and you're like, oh, let me grab my Harbaugh guy. Jake: You know, or someone who you just think, oh, this guy could really come in. The guys who just got hired are just, I'm sorry. Ken was a not too good coach, but they're all retreads. Justin: Yeah, that's fine. He's he's solid. He took a team to the Super Bowl. He turned San Diego's woes around. Phil Rivers played like Phil Rivers again, which you hadn't played for like in a few years. And he definitely deserved a second opportunity to be ahead. Yeah, absolutely. Yes, totally agree with that one. The Texans hire, I think, was fine. Bill Bryan. He did a fine job with Penn State with those circumstances. And he had NFL pedigree working for the Pats. and running that offense for a number of years. So those two are fine. The others are just weird. Like Jim Caldwell. Jake: Well, the Gruden Gruden going to see. Justin: I mean, Cincinnati lost both of their coordinators. I'm putting on the board right now. I got hired by the Cincinnati struggles next year. Oh, yeah. Because you know, Marvin Lewis. Jake: Banked on both of those guys. I think two things one. I think you'll see both I think both Ravens and Steelers would be better Because they won't be you know Ravens will be coming out of Super Bowl You know whatever and the Steelers don't stay down for long like even when they're bad They're still pretty good and then they're late. They right then they get really good like next year There'll be a 10-win team and we'll kill people. And we get to play them again. Yes, we do. We lost them this year, whatever. We'll lose them next year. Um, earliest prediction ever. So when you start to think like, well, who else are you throwing in there? And I don't know. I, it's a weird feeling because usually in eight and eight season you feel like, nah.
04 Jake: But I felt this like I'm a very happy eight and eight. I feel like we have this huge cap space coming up. We've got a quarterback who has upside, who maybe has whatever, but also someone who are not. We don't have every dollar of our existence all tied up into. And so if he doesn't work out, okay, fine, move on. Like I'm not too worried about it. The rookie braid scale plus him being a second round to me equals... Justin: Yeah, it is the formula when you look at the NFC, it's very weird. You look at the NFC and then the AFC and these last four teams remaining. You've got like, you've got the two teams over in the NFC on the West Coast that are kind of built the way these jets are moving with very strong defenses and Not big name first round round quarterbacks, even though They are kind of big names, but they weren't they're not established They're second and third year players and they're on the cheap So the rest of the mere opposites of each other the two championships weekend is is built around Having the money to fill out a roster Why Peyton Manning teams always end up the way Peyton Manning teams look with like these offenses and no defenses because Peyton Manning takes up like a fifth of your salary and then you're like well what am I gonna do just have Peyton Manning and not a couple guys for Peyton Manning and throw the ball to and then all of a sudden You end up with like no money on defense. Yeah, well, on defense, that's certainly true on the Denver. But their offense is not. Well, that's what you do. You build the offense because you're like, well, I just spent all this money. I'm paying Manning. Now I got to give him something to work with. And then you end up with no defense. Jake: Right. Kind of what's killed Manning over the years. I'm not being able to stop that one last guy and even that last drive or something like that. He also struggled like they did. they showed the Tom Brady versus Peyton Manning like head-to-head matchup and like their stats over those three games that they played head-to-head in the playoffs and it was like completely one-sided. Like one guy plays at the same level he plays here all year and plays at that level the other guy drops off. But anyway so Rex is back and not only that, today got extended. Terms have not Justin: been released we don't know for how long. And there was a wrinkle in there like it's very incentive-laden. Oh yeah. With like you make playoffs you get paid more money. Jake: Yeah and I read a little quick there's like a team stream update that like there's outs in it. There's like it basically is like pay to perform. And so in some ways the general manager did a great thing because I think he took a good head coach who has upside. and he got him on a down year or on a year where it's like, we're not paying you for being an AFC champion. You know, we're paying you for being an eight and eight dude. And you know, you have a better negotiating when the team didn't do well than when the team did great.
01 Jake: Team goes to AFC Championship. What are you negotiating off of? If the team... Justin: Well, that's what they did last time. He got an extension after his first year. Yep, right He's during hard knocks. He got his extension. I remember he called his wife and said yeah, so I'm Jake: I'm I'm very excited like it's not the playoffs on over the Super Bowl son over and I'm excited for the Jets I'm excited for the Jets next year, but I'm already say this I'm ready I'm reading the damn draft like I can't wait to pick up one of these wide receivers or tight ends. I'm excited Justin: But I'll say this, I was watching, I watched all the games this past weekend. Yes. And I was watching that San Francisco Carolina game. Yeah. And it hit me right now. And I was like, what? Oh, shit. Jake: What hit you? Justin: Well, you know, we're a team built on defense and everything. And I'm watching these two teams play. And I'm like, we are just not that physical. Like they are. I don't know because I I am a jet fan, but like when no no wait wait, you're not you're you're actually a broadcaster Jake: You're like a professional broadcaster. That's also true. All right, so you should know well Justin: No, the part that I don't know is like, you know, I am As a fan of the Jets. I'm scared to play the 49ers. It is scary to play them They are that physical and that fast and that good on defense I don't know if teams have that fear of the Jets defense. They have the guys to like put fear in your heart. Like they have the defensive lineman. They have like a couple linebackers that hit. But like man I was watching that Carolina San Francisco game and they were just smashing the crap out of each other on every play and talking all this shit. And I was like... Oh man, we gotta get to that level. Like we're not at that level. Like you watch Seattle defense, you're like fuck. I don't want to play against them. The Legion of Boom? I don't want to play against those guys, so we gotta get there. I was like we're not there. Jake: I know this is weird to say, but I think whatever NFC team makes it wins her role. I just think that they play while their offense is not as good as Denver or New England. I feel like they play a defense that has shown that it can shut down better offenses. Justin: I mean, Drew Brees is one of the best and his offense is one of the best. Now, the other two are top three. We've seen Drew Brees on the road. Is not the same like we we made him look pretty right but what's gonna happen at MetLife Stadium? Jake: I mean, I don't know. We'll see if you know, but what's gonna happen at MetLife Stadium? It'll be cold. It'll whatever defense is showing up there and playing out of their minds Justin: Yeah, but if you think that Tom Brady can't walk into MetLife Stadium and have a good game Jake: No, then I wouldn't be a Jets fan because I've seen it happen many times Justin: in there no big deal but you're an Jake: advantage by the way you know if Tom Justin: Brady has an advantage. He's played in that stadium six times four? How many years has it been Jake: open? I think it's some two thousand and
01 Jake: oh yeah I don't know I guess it's fifth year so maybe four times yeah four times oh no cuz it hasn't he played like the Giants there once no I feel like he has been no I mean preseason Justin: He's played the Giants there because they play each other in preseason But I don't think he plays in that game because it's the fourth game. Yeah, so um Yeah, I'm actually pretty excited. I think you know The latest mock draft had us drafting the receiver from USC. Okay, sweet. I like it. He's good You ever see him play? No. He's good. There's, there's, he was hurt a lot. We get time to talk about the draft. Jake: We got the next three months to talk about the draft. I want him. We'll talk about the draft. Justin: Or Johnny. Or Johnny football. No, I don't want Johnny football. Jake: Alright, so let's talk about, first of all, let's talk about... the Jack Kingdom fantasy league. Well, you won. Yeah, I won. I'm the greatest. I'm the greatest. And third and I'm better than you because I played in a harder season. Twelve teams is harder than ten. Agreed. I'm better than you. You're the greatest. All right. I did next year. Fourteen teams. No, I came to know. Fourteen teams. Justin: No, I came in third. Jake: Fourteen teams. Justin: And I'm proud of my third place. Jake: That came in last year So we're tied. Um, well just well first of all it says all the fans up there playing against us seriously Justin: You're not the two podcast thing guys. Let's go step up your games and this year we had three times that people left in Jake: Players that bullshit. Yeah, that's bullshit all you players next year They might you might get booted in the middle of season if we see that because that's bullshit such as there's a waiting list guys Justin: Like it's not like you know Jake: You can be replaced. You can be replaced. Are we officially letting in the second place guy? Yeah, yeah, he gets to come in for next year. He's in. So there's three people already in. Three people in. Justin: The current champion. And the winner of whoever wins the pick-up is also in. Right. Jake: So that's why I say 14 teams with 10 spots open. 10 spots open it's gonna be such a good draft all the first the first round will be just yet it'll be full Gino I defense yeah whatever it'll be great all right so it's um Let's talk about the playoffs. I don't know about these. You want to talk about cap and the Jets and the cap? I guess we can wait for that. We got so much time to talk about that. We can talk about the cap and whatever. Any other big news? What's the other big news? We signed Phil Simms, not Phil Simms, we wish. We signed Matt Simms for a year extension. Who cares? Okay. We lost our special teams coach. There's now a rumor that maybe Mike Westhoff is gonna come out of retirement. Justin: No way. I think you would. Not gonna happen. Why not? Because he's done, he's done, he did his thing, he's done. We lost our special teams coach, right? Yeah, as I was saying, we just lost him. But he made a lateral move, like what does that mean? That means that that's why we had to give Rex his extension.
02 Justin: Because if, because if you're a free agent as a coach. Like you you go take a job with a team that just hired a guy. Jake: Then you do a three year job. Pretty much. Right. Oh, we're your contract versus three year contract. I totally get it. Justin: Because you get fired if Rex is out and then the new coach comes in. He's like, I got my own guys. I work with this specialty. Jake: And by the way, that's the downside of the of of the keeping of the not lame duck coach, but of the coach that like. You can't attract the talent. Well, it's more than that. I think it also doesn't allow you to clean out how some guys who maybe are who should go. Like I'm not sure there's I'm not sure I look at every. Every coach on the team and think oh You're just the best coach ever was there's some areas of our team that lost our linebackers coach Oh, you know like like you've pointed out with those good like pointing out the wide receivers coach. Yeah, like Have you really I mean there's a talent issue Have you done anything with the guys you've had? You know, have you brought rookies up to a level that they're supposed to be? Not really. Got to go. But yeah, I think in the next couple weeks we'll talk about CAP, we'll talk about it. Because the free agency is going to come up with me. The craziness. The honors. Justin: We'll see if anyone gets an honor. Jake: We have the Super Bowl Bowl. We'll see if we'll see if should we make this announcement? No, no, no, no, no No, no, that's what we should be saying. Yeah, okay Justin: And well, there's the honors the night before right that like award show Yeah, where they hand out all the right the MVP the all rookie The Hall of Fame announcements. Yep, that should be fun That should be good. So what do we think about watch the you know that show on NFL Network? What's it called a football life? Yes, see the bill parcels one. No, it's good. Yeah, it's pretty good Jake: No, I don't and I'm a lot on the Jets but a little bit it was good Yeah parcels is I've seen like his thing though cuz I went but no I didn't know I didn't go anyone in Justin: I don't watch a lot of them that I record them all and then I'm when there's one that Find interesting I'll watch it. Yeah, I didn't watch the Vince Lombardi ones even though. I'm sure I would have liked them But I just deleted them, right? Jake: Well, let's talk about the playoffs playoffs. I off cuz we've missed two weeks of playoffs missed the wild card weekend Well, do you want to discuss the final game like the the the dolphins? I think we should a little bit Justin: I didn't really watch it. So it's hard for me. You didn't even go back and watch it on like recording or anything I watched like the Jake: 12 minute version of it. Oh, you didn't even watch the the 40 minute like he kept. Here's the thing, I watched it live obviously watching my life. So what was nice was, and the reason I wanted to win was, he kept the dolphins out. The dolphins had every chance to get in the playoffs if just we had they'd beat us. Everything else had to fall in place. In fact, San Diego made this amazing like they had to have so many things fall in place and they had almost all of them fall in place. Justin: They do have like a 1% chance of making the playoffs.
01 Justin: Yeah, and they made it. Like in week 15. And they made it. Jake: I just thought that, you know, the Jets just played like a, they played like a team that wasn't out of it. They played like a team that needed to win. They played like a team and, and Geno Smith played another good Geno game, like. Justin: They played a good final quarter of the season. Yeah. They won three of the four. Last four games. Jake: If not for one game we would have been in the playoffs. Justin: Well, they probably would have beaten another AFC team. I think that's the game. Probably the Bills game, maybe the Steelers game. Jake: Right. One of those games. Dats what's so tough, it's like you look back and you're really one game away. You don't know which one though. No you don't. Justin: But it's the the way that the tiebreakers shake out. Jake: But looking at who we were close with, like as 8 and 8, the Steelers could have made an 8 and 8 if there's one other Justin: If San Diego would have lost, if Ryan Suckup would have made a field goal, then the Steelers were in. Right, so. What would I be pissed if I was a Steelers fan? Yeah, this guy just misses a field goal, like a 40 yard field goal really. Come on dude. No, I know it's terrible. So wild card weekend. We had a bunch of management. You watch the games wild card weekend I watched Yeah, I watched a few of them I didn't watch all of them I really not watch yeah, I didn't watch Saturday I was doing something that Saturday, but I watched the games on Sunday Jake: So Casey, Indy, did not watch that one. That was the crazy, like... Justin: That seemed pretty wild. Jake: Casey was basically dominating the entire game, put Indy exactly where they wanted to be, which was comeback mode, and then Indy just came back and beat them. And there was a couple of moments, there was one that was texting, maybe it was when you were telling me to stop texting you, because you were off looking at, you know, whatever you were looking at. Bridal registry stuff. It was terrible. Um... was that Andy Reid. I just remember coming out of the two minute huddle, the two minute warning, and then going and taking time out. And I was like, what the? And he just, the clock management, I was like, this guy almost got fired from the Eagles so many times because of his clock management skills. Absolutely does. But dude, you dominate all year. You take a team that's terrible the year before, you turn them into a good team, and then you go into the playoffs, and you let the Indy put up. Justin: Well, they still haven't beaten a playoff team this year. Well. But they hit but they have 40. I mean, let's let a team put up 45 against you But they were 11 and 6 at the end of the day and all six losses were to playoff teams and all 11 wins were to Non-playoff teams, so maybe they're not that good. You know what they were they were the they were the last place team playing a last place Schedule taking advantage of it. They're a little bit better than a last and there's this defense all year long It's like they're just got hurt. Yeah, they lost time play
06 Jake: The other one- Proving that he's just not a boy off quarterback. Yeah, so tough because you look at him He's not a bad quarterback because every stat on the planet crushed the shit out of us, right? But then he was just throwing picks left and right and the thing I kept noticing about him It's just the difference between you know a good the good quarterback and the bad quarterback is what your What your player will do for you and there's some balls that he threw that there was no No reason anybody in the world should catch it. It was a terribly thrown ball. And this guy would just go way up in the air, one-handed catch it. And in the stat book, that goes down as a catch. Right, not an incomplete or an interception.- But the reality is, it was a terribly. thrown ball and the guy made a huge catch. Like, he was like 90% wide receiver and 10% quarterback. And I think it just doesn't show up in the stat book that way. And I can think of times, you know, Even like Cam Newton and the one that recently, you know There's a tip ball and the damn receiver tips it or something and then it bounces around on someone else's interception goes in as interception But it wasn't Cam Newton to do that ball. It was like the guy pumped it up like team interception. Yeah, so anyway But they just you know since you just couldn't couldn't stop them. They just kept turning over the ball Justin: I mean, I think they know there's a lot Better record in the playoffs than Andy Dalton Mark Sanchez Jake: Well, that's not saying much Mark Sanchez has a better record in the playoffs than most the guys play a good playoff record Yeah, very good playoff quarterback Chances of him being back one or two one ten ten being absolute certain to one being never gonna happen to yeah, exactly And then then the I thought the best game Maybe so far with the San Francisco Green Bay game great game really cold I had no I great game. I never doubted that San Francisco is gonna win I just think they're a better team. They're the best team left in the playoffs. Oh, not even close Justin: There's a best team, read most complete offense. Seattle has a dominant defense, a great running game, and a great quarterback. And good wide receivers. Their quarterback just did nothing. It's all he needed to do. It's not like he won the game for them. It's all he needed to do. Absolutely nothing. The San Francisco offense is better than Seattle's offense. They can run the ball just as well and I think Frank Gore vs. Marshawn Lynch. Position player versus position player not running game versus running game. I don't agree They can run the ball just as well as anybody. I don't think as well as as as Seattle can. Oh, okay. We disagree Okay, they certainly throw the ball better They have more weapons and Kaepernick can throw the ball just as well as Russell Wilson can Jake: straight up quarterback, he's better in the pocket, he's smarter and he knows where to go with the ball better than Kaepernick. Kaepernick sometimes makes dumb, bonehead mistakes.
02 Justin: I still think the San Francisco offense is better than the Seattle offense. Their offensive line is clearly better. Secondly, their defenses can play with each other. But I think Seattle defense is better. complete teams as Seattle and Cisco. Jake: Yeah, that's a game I No we are not. We really do. We really do. We want one, and we enjoyed the playoffs last year. Right. Justin: They destroyed the last year, they destroyed them in the first week of the season, and then they left. Green Bay, with the running game. Yeah, we loved the playoffs. Jake: We had to take this, the playoffs, we had to take this, and we had to take this. We had to take this, and we had to take this. Yeah, we had to take this. I guess the which was the best game we had the best game of last week yeah Justin: You know last week, um, they weren't as good I thought the san Francisco carolina game was pretty decent. Look at the scores They were Denver San Diego game was was good because san diego Really did make that a game in the fourth quarter there. Well, they covered the spread Well, they made it a game like if that I think there was a one play it was like a third and 17 or something that manning pulled out of his ass and if he didn't Jake: That game was going over time, but they basically had big they had the whole time You really didn't they did by points they had him by at least two two scores almost the entire game Justin: Yeah, but sandy made and made a run at yeah, they were right there They had them they had him stopped and then they couldn't get off the field. They had a third in 17 and they
16 Justin: The New England indie game was a blow. Jake: I don't know. I thought in guys ran right over them. Justin: Well, that was crazy. Yeah, they were running over you. Right. What are you gonna do with this? And the Seattle New Orleans game was bullshit. That was a shitty game, even though I know it ended like only an eight point thing. But it was a crap. Talk about having someone's number. Like this. They were just there. That was a crack. That was a crappy game. Seattle's good. I thought Carolina. I thought Sunday was better than Saturday. Carolina, San Francisco, if you like Smash Mouth beat them up Football that was the game. Yeah, they were beating the shit out of each other They really were talking some shit to Carolina that was that was like That was really like oh, this is our first time in the playoffs. Yeah, you can totally tell they were Jake: 2-Hype. Justin: and they made a mistake. They went up, they were losing 6-0, they did a really nice job keeping San Francisco out of the end zone, the first couple of drives, they scored 2 field goals. They go up 7-0. Then, I feel like they drove down again. like they had two chances on like fourth and goal like where they were on the one yard line you know and the first time they went for it and Newton got stopped on a sneak and then the next and then the next time they were down there it was seven six and they had fourth and goal again at the one and he decided to kick a field goal to put it to ten six right when the first time when he missed it all they did was go three and out and punch it right back to you and then you scored the touchdown He got scared that's see you shouldn't do that. You shouldn't change your philosophy one little bull thing Just go ham noon put him put him On spread the shit out and let him just run over somebody, right? No, no, no weekend Jake: Well let's talk about the jakken pick um because both of you and I suck this here
02 Jake: yeah although I suck less than you which is awesome yeah I'm gonna beat you for like the 17th year in a row that's fine um but statinine statin island stapes I don't feel Justin: like he's picked in the playoffs which maybe oh yes he has been Jake: Well, I saw play F1 and play S2, he has picks. Justin: Come on, Stages. They're not doing very well. I know he was in the fantasy league this year. I know you're going to want to be back in it next year, but at 142 and 15 and 141 and Jake: 116. Justin: 142 is really good. It's good. They're made some money in Vegas. ,\/\/. Jake: They're up there. And they're fighting. Ginger, I guess. Tweet at us if you're a ginger. Justin: I don't want to offend, because probably a woman and I was going to say something bad Jake: about whatever. Show us your bush. Justin: No, like ginger it sounds like a stripper name. Yeah! It sounds like your real name. We have strippers. Like you're a whore. Wow. And I'd... think well no out of it is the same time now doesn't want to be no no no i mean i can click Jake: on to actually see who ginger is no um anyway good job you guys are doing great and winner of that remember so you guys are playing for something the winner of that does get into the uh jacking them Justin: Fancy the yiffy next year. I know the states will. That's true. See if ginger wants to. Ginger, you should make it in. Pour her way in. It's probably a dude. It probably is. It's a dude. Pour his way in. It's a red headed dude. So I'm gonna get to these epic games. Because this is what I wanted. This is the exact match ups that everyone wanted. Jake: This is like, this is, and they said this in the, um, one of the articles this week was like, this is the first time that the top teams, all four teams, the top four best teams in the league made the playoffs. One two, one two., yeah. Justin: But it's not one two one two it's one two one five. Well, it's close But I guess it's record wise like they're in the same division. It's it's the top. They are the top 14, right? Jake: It's like yeah, I mean, these are the top. This is the top of time It's like someone just snuck in like no eight-one-eight-eight team is now the judge didn't make it to I didn't make. It in. This is the top teams who really did well a year. Let me ask you this. I'm ready. Justin: Who has the Super Bowl this year? Fox? Okay, so you're Fox. I'm Fox. Yeah, you're Mr. Executive. What do I say? Bop, bop, bop, bop, bop, bop, bop, bop! You didn't get that, did you? I didn't get that at all. What does the Fox say? What does the Fox say? C-c-c-c-c-cow! Really? Nope. You know what I mean? This is like this internet phenomenon. Alright, you can even ask Siri. I'm not asking Siri. Ask Siri. Come on ask her Siri Jake: No, wait. Hold on. You got turn her up. Well turn her up and put her next to your mind to hold on. Hello What does the Fox say?
01 Jake: Whoa Siri that's from the song. What does the Fox say? Justin: You will never know. The secret of the fox is an ancient mystery. Jake: It's from a song. Alright well. Ring a ding ding ding ding ding. Justin: Apparently all of that just happened. So you're fox. You're ring a ding ding. And um. Oh, kapowing. More kapowing. We're gonna play that video right after. Yeah we are. So see you. We're doing whatever. Alright get whatever why this is an important question. What what what do you want here? You got these great matchups You got New England Denver and you got Seattle San Francisco. What do you want? What game do you want? What game do I want on television? Yeah, you're Fox you want them like what's the matchup that you think? Oh What I want for the Super Bowl. What do you think would be the best epic Super Bowl for Fox for like I mean obviously as fans too. We want the same thing but for Like, what do you want? I mean, I'll tell you, I think Denver, they want Denver. Jake: I think Manning just brings- They want Manning. They want Manning. So let's say they want Manning. And then Seattle? Have they played each other this year? I just don't, I don't feel like Denver's played Seattle or San Francisco. Justin: No. They didn't play. Jake: They didn't put no matchup thing there. This is this is the another one of those years that the championship will be better than the playoffs Justin: I mean, yeah, these are epic. These are epic battles, right? Both rematches ones a division rival ones like a you know what I think you know what I think Denver San Francisco is the matchup because of the history of San Francisco and the history of Manning and and and like all that I think I think Denver San Francisco is what what the people want Jake: Hmm I'm just trying to think what would be the argument for Seattle Russell Wilson They're not as flashy no Justin: They're also like, you know, they're a great home team like No, there could be some flash with like New England Seattle because of the whole there's there's Pete Carroll and his failures in New England, right and Then there's also like Tom Brady the sixth round quarterback versus this this Eris Tom Brady Russell Wilson So there's that well then verse yeah Jake: We could do the number one quarterback versus the later round pick quarterback you could do that I mean whatever you're gonna do you're gonna get old versus new cuz he was Denver or Justin: Storyline goes work. Well, that'd be the coaches like a bellcheck versus Harbaugh. Maybe that's a good dicks Yeah, and like like This error. What does the Fox say? What does the Fox say? Fox against? Alright let's get to our picks. Let's start with the first game. We got New England going to Denver. So Denver's hosting. I think the lines out here are just insane. Denver's favored by five and a half points. This is stupid. This is a stupid line. This is the dumbest line. This line needed to be three. If. Yeah, who has who has who has I don't know who's betting on Denver at five and a half
04 Justin: And if you look the line went up Which means people are betting on Denver at four and a half. They were betting on Denver. They bet it up to five and a half So I think this is a saying they're like they're like begging you to pick New England. I just yeah I'm picking knowing and I am too. I think they're just better and I think when I Push comes to shove, Brady beats Manning. Jake: Yeah, well, we're of time. Justin: Brady greater than Manning. Jake: Here's a team that's been in the championship, the AFC Championship, three years in a row. Justin: Three straight. I think in the Brady Belichick era, they've been in six of these. Yeah. I mean, seven in the last 13 years, some. Jake: Stupid ass number and I think that the difference is look last week you had New England England just turned it on and just said we're just that's the thing is New England isn't a team You say me but you know how to play you don't know how to fucking play play them Neither one of these defenses I think is gonna do much. This could be a take the over Justin: But it could really depend on the weather. Jake: It's also going to be close. Even if Denver is going to win, it's the going to be close. Yeah, it's going to be close game. So why would you take Denver? Oh, see, now I'm, in my heart of heart of heart of hearts, at the bottom of my heart of heart of hearts, I think that New England's gonna win. But in my, what I want, because I predicted the beginning of the season and I sound really smart if I predicted the two people in the Super Bowl, and if I get it all right, I get some sort of, but I predicted Denver or Seattle or the Super Bowl. So like I have to keep going with that and so I picked it close. Justin: There is close. There is close. There is close. 31 30. Well, I'm reading it again. I'm reading it. You're so frittata when it comes to read scores and fuck cards and Jake: Later although I It's stupid because I'd rather have that beat that I rather have been second game. It's not a choice Justin: It's an alternating. Alternating CBS Fox. Yeah year So next year the AFC will be the late game when we're right because remember back to back years We played one was early one was late. Yes. I went to both right so all right, so the late game I think about going to game these are these are Both just prime time. Jake: Well, they... They've lost almost every Super Bowl they've been in the last five years, so that's not really a big deal. Well, I feel like I want to watch New England.
00 Jake: Denver, because I want to see Peyton Manning. Justin: See, I want to watch... I want to have a rooting interest, so I want New England to be there to be there to be Jake: So I can really root. I want to have Peyton Manning there because I... I've seen him play live, I think, but I like to see him play live in a Super Bowl would be cool. Tom Brady, I see him play live all the fucking time. Justin: Well, Denver's going to New York next year. Well, there you go. So I'll get to see him in MetLife State next year. Jake: And then who would want to see San, Francisco, Seattle? I don't really care. I kind of like them both. I like those two teams, but I'll be, I mean, I'll almost be rooting for, I'll be rooting for, it's sad, but I'll be rooting for the NFC. I really want either Seattle or San Francisco to win. Yeah. I kind of like both teams. games. Justin: Had like San Francisco's on the path. They lost in the NFC Championship. They lost in the Super Bowl now It's when the them to win the Super Bowl. I just so with that said just do not think that they get by Seattle So Seattle they have had their number in Seattle the last two years the last two years I think it started both of those, even last year and this year, it was during the Kaepernick era. They- they have crushed San Francisco in Seattle. They're like totally in their heads. Seattle's favored by 3-1-2. I just think San Francisco's a better team. I've already said this. So I think San Francisco wins. With a very similar score. 27 21 interesting San Francisco I think that they'll be able to run on Seattle and I'm not sure Seattle to run on on San Francisco and that will be the Jake: difference in the game don't think Seattle's gonna look a little No, I don't. I think San Francisco's run defense is better. Probably better than Seattle's run defense. But I do not think that San Francisco will be able to throw the ball very much. Justin: I'm not certain they'll have to. I think they'll set everything up with their run game. Yeah, maybe. And it's their time to beat them in Seattle. They've had this chance. Jake: It's their, it improved it now, it's like 130, 138 or whatever. I swear to you. You know, they're just saying now, so I was actually thinking about us, the ticket thing where they're only selling tickets to residents. Like, of the- Justin: Yeah, they did like a radius. Jake: Yeah. And part of me was like, oh, that's cool. But then part of me was like, well, but wait, I'm a fan. Yeah. I can't come to the game anymore. Right. Because you won't sell it to me. Justin: Fuck you, douchebags. I mean, what if you're a Seattle fan and you live in Atlanta? Santa. Right like my friend Dave. Yeah Jake: Yeah, you ain't going Fuck you, but again again, I have to I'm I I I do This is what's weird is I kind of feel like New England and San Francisco gonna win Justin: But you're making the opposite cuz you want to be right that I want to be right so what are you thinking? Jake: What's your score? Go on? So Seattle 23 San Francisco 20 Justin: They're gonna be great games regardless It doesn't matter what we say, what we think these games are gonna belandish,
15 Justin: Any different of games though. No, it's the early game is gonna. Two grizzled veteran amazing top top of all, all the quarterbacks in an epic battle at it right and scoring points Right, you know, I don't have it being a very high scoring game. I have it. I don't know that thing playoff games and get that out of control. It points when you get to this. Forty four, forty four. You get to this level like I don't really see it. But then the second game is just going to be a fucking slobber knocker. They're just going to beat. And when you watch that game, that's the feeling that like when I feel like, oh, the Jets aren't ready, like when you watch Seattle play San Francisco and you see that intensity and that smash mouth beat you up. style that they're both with We're not there yet, right? I'm just gonna bring it full circle back to the chest The question is we need to get there right for that for this Team under Rex Ryan to win because we're never gonna be Denver finesse Down the field right passing passing When they played, I think it was like week 10 or 11 or 11 or 12, one of those weeks. I don't know. on in Amazing. Yeah. He's how they do that. That's that's the best. That's why he's the best. There's no doubt about it in my mind. He's the absolute best. Oh best quote the best head coach to coach. In this era of like you know 2000s. and on he's best. There's no doubt. There's no doubt. Just the best. Jake: I mean, is he a total douchebag dickhead? Yeah, but is he the a and and coach? Does he get his shit done? Yeah, he does. Speaking of getting your shit done, so what our off season schedule is gonna be Justin: now that where? No, the season's not really off. We have this week and then we'll come back and do some Super Bowl stuff. Plus we are in New York. So we're a doing superb well Thanks. Let's tell some people about what what we're doing. We're doing a lot of stuff.
02 Jake: First of all, Super Bowl Plaza Boulevard is literally outside of our outside the studio here in Times Square. So we should be not gonna be like daily reporting but we will have things to talk about. Super Bowl is gonna be ready to Justin: go out there and hang out. Jake: because the Jets, I'm gonna see the ticket holder, they give you some options to go to some certain things. We have gotten tickets to go to see the, Justin: We're going to Media Day, not as media. They didn't invite me as a broadcaster. I could not believe it. Jake: I'm shunned. They got... Justin: I'm making a credential. Jake: I think it's a dun-tat. I think it's a dun-tat. We got tickets to go to the jet house. Jet house. I found the who's gonna be there on the day. Justin: Who's gonna be there? I like, I'm wearing my claco jersey. There you go. They'll get a sign maybe get a sign and I can't wear it Jake: Yeah, I can't I like where is it is it the is it the Chinese version of it nice? Justin: You better get a real life before you go in there ............ He's like I R. He's like, I didn't get paid on this. them. and NFL they get a cut of their own jerseys Jake: Really they do? Um. Justin: Well that's why Ocho Cinco changed the game. Jake: So we have that going on, we have that and then we have the Super Bowl which is gonna be in our home stadium so that should be a lot of fun. ahm and maybe some more news coming on that. Yeah. Really. Alright, fuck it, I won tickets, I'm going through all. Justin: Like you weren't gonna tell everybody? I wasn't gonna tell everybody. Why? I don't know. Why not brag? Bragety brag. You won the lottery. I won the lottery. You're in. I'm in. You get to buy tickets. Two tickets. Where are the tickets? Two tickets to celebrate. I don't know. What level? Where do you get to buy them? Oh, I have to buy them by Friday. Don't they have like a special level for you- that you have to buy them? Jake: No, it's two tickets to buy tickets by Friday and I haven't gotten the full details yet but I know I can go buy tickets. I'm thinking about not buying them. No way. No, I'm going to buy tickets. So, yeah, I'm going to go through. Two lower level tickets. Well. I'm going to take the bus. I'm going to experience it. Anyway, so that's going to the fun. So we have all sorts of things to talk about. Plus, we got the bus. I'm excited about the draft.
20 Justin: I'm Jake: We didn Justin: doing like everyday I'd be particularly that one the week before right you'd have five that's only the whole bummer of this Jake: I'm going to see a lot going to media day I'm going to the going thing I'm might even get into some I'm And yet no jet stuff. And no jets. No. Although they're gonna be there. Like wouldn't Rex Ryan be at the stadium this year. Justin: Oh yeah, he gets tickets, he gets tickets. Yeah, baby. They all get tickets. Yeah. Jake: Alright, be sitting next to him. Okay. Alright, until then, we'll be back in another week. We love you all. Happy New Year, 2014 as always. Go Jets.
