09 Justin: The best place to be is when expectations are high. Get used to it. It's always going to be that way. Jake: Welcome to the Jet Kingdom podcast, the longest running New York Jets podcast ever, period, in a sentence. I'm Jake, and joining me back from a long, long, long, long, long time ago for the 236 time in a row. God, it's been almost 21 days. It's been three weeks since we podcast. Justin: It's Justin. That's what happens. People get sick. The season ends. It's depressing. We lost our coach. He goes. But now we're back before the Super Bowl to talk about all the things that have happened with the Jets, to talk about the Super Bowl itself. Deflategate. Deflategate will probably get some love on this podcast. And we may have differing opinions on deflategate. We'll see. I was, first of all, not- We're gonna get right into deflategate? I'm saying I'm not in favor of the name deflategate. Why? Everything's gate. Everything's gate, but I felt like the word- Spygate! The word balls needed to be involved. Ballgate! Imagine if it was ballsgate. Jake: the flake ball gate Brady's balls gate baby's balls gate doesn't run the flake it's better because deflate and gate I just want balls in there okay I was on Justin: TV with a sign it was like Giselle can deflate my balls anytime she wants nice fantastic nice Jake: Let's start with the news. So nothing new nothing new nothing has happened to the jet same old yet. They mold jets except for everything is new so Justin: Why don't we start with Rex actually? All right, let's we fired Rex we fired well We talked about that last time I think yeah, but he hadn't gotten his new job yet He's now with the bills. He is with the bills as is pretty much every single jet Coach except for Marty and the special teams coordinator, right? Which says a lot which does Marty is now the QB coach for the Ravens. So that's a full step down Yes, like that's like a full it's the lowest on the coaching rung. He's been in like 15 years. Jake: And it's funny because out of all the things that happened last year, I don't look at... I never looked at... I mean, there were times we looked at the offensive coordinator like, what the fuck are you doing? I don't remember feeling that way last year. I don't remember feeling like... I mean, maybe a couple times like when Gina was struggling, throwing, they keep throwing. The numbers kind of bore it out though. Of really? That he was making mistakes? Justin: You can't say like the coordinator themselves was making mistakes, but what you could say is the offense never scored Jake: Right, so it's also say that when a guy's throwing four picks in the first three minutes of a game
04 Justin: How do you know he's responsible for coaching up over the last two years hasn't gotten any better, right? That's that one game and they don't score more than 25 points ever. They only did it once So like that's on the offensive coordinator that Samini did a good article on ESPN, um, the Jets blog or whatever that had like all the Jets offensive coordinators going back like 15 years. And it's a really a thankless job because we'll get into it in a minute, but we just hired obviously a new head coach. And for the sixth time in a row, it's a defensive. Right, let's coach. Let's finish up with Rex. And the offensive coordinator tends to have a bigger spotlight on them than they normally would because the head coach is like a defensive guy. Jake: Right, because if he's an offensive guy, then that guy's doing everything and the offensive coordinator is basically just sitting there going, whatever. Right, right. Same thing with defense, right? Like the defensive coordinator under a defensive head coach doesn't get a lot of defensive coordinator Justin: Under Rex was like a puppet job, right? He knew his Rex's defense, right? So Rex is with Buffalo He brought pretty much everyone. Everyone with him. Let's go Buffalo And if you ask me, I think Buffalo is gonna be damn good next year. They're gonna be eight and eight I think they're gonna do better than that and I'll take that bet right now without free agency or the draft even occurring. Excellent. How much? Jake: Twenty-hundred jelly beans. Put your money where you want this. Justin: Oh, you want to get money or you want to do- because we won't know till like almost a year from now. Yeah, so what? Unless they're like nine and three and then we'll know. Yeah. No, I say jerseys. Jake: Yeah, but no, let's do jelly beans. Justin: We're going to do real jelly beans? Jelly beans. Okay. 100 jelly beans. 100 jelly beans that the bills finish higher than 8 and 8. Great. I got 8 and 8 below. 8 needs to push. No, you don't get 8. Yeah, yeah. I get 8 and 8 below. 8 needs to push. Jake: No, no, no. You're confident that they're going to do better than 8 and 8. Nope. No bet. 8 needs to push. Justin: Give me that, give me that, give me that, Cuz I'm saying that the 8 and I wanna push. I'm taking, you're so confident, you came up with it, you literally bet me immediately. All right, give me odds. No odds. If you're taking eight and eight, give me something. Jake: I'm not going to run the draft and all this other stuff. No, you think they're going to be better. You think they're going to be good. You think they're going to be better than 500? Then bet that. Fine. Done. All right. Better than 500. Yeah, bet that. Justin: Hopefully Sanchez is their quarterback. I'm switching teams. I'll triple the bet. I'm switching teams. Jake: You probably would. I'm rooting for the Jets. So what do you think about him going there? What do you think? Like generally, personally? Bye. Well, you know I have a soft spot for the Bills. Yes, you do. So he went to some crappy school up in Buffalo and that's the team that he went to see all
01 Jake: the time. Justin: I have a bit of a soft spot in my heart for the Bills. The Loveless Bills. They haven't made the playoffs since I was up there. When they did make the playoffs and they lost in the Music City Miracle. Jake: I do think, well I do wish left the division. Justin: was right six years is plenty of time right that's more than fair yeah to give a head coach so happy trails the best of luck you I enjoy I will now really enjoy watching Bill's Patriots games yes totally Oh, because you know we've played the Pats really well. Yes under rack. Yes So someone had asked him he's there, and he said Rex if you Pete Carroll was to ask you like some words of advice for how to stop the Patriots Yeah, what you what would you do? Yes, you had like a one-line answer I'd advise him to take the air out of the ball. Oh, that's funny. Jake: Pretty good. Um, so I'm, I'm, I think, again, it's kind of tough because I liked Rex. I still like him as a person. I like him as a personality. We'll see how much of his... boisterousness and his talkativeness and all that now gets on my nerves more because it's against the Jets than it was when he was with the Jets. You like it more. I feel like he'll always be, I mean we were his sort of first head coaching gig so I feel like he'll always kind of be our guy a little bit. I think he's, yes, what I think the bills are gonna go in, they're gonna have a good and or better defense. So they have a really good defense. They have four defense. Right. So I don't think there's anywhere to go, but he's inheriting the same problem, which is here's a guy who was never able to take a quarterback and make anything out of him. What does he get? A pile for a shish. Here you go again. So that's why I say eight nays. Because and he can go great in offense and offense, and he needs to have a free agency.
06 Jake: But we know this nobody in free agency. Well they don't have a first round pick. They don't have a first round,-pick. That was so awesome. I will double nothing. when they go below 500 if they if santa's is their starting quarter but then i get odds yeah pick six odds seven over under 6.5 um so i'm i'm you know i do like his choice Justin: at offensive coordinator who'd he pick greg roman he was like i was there no no greg roman from the Niners. Oh yeah. Fits his style perfectly. I just don't. They're gonna run the ball, they got Sammy Watkins, they're gonna have a great defense, they're gonna be really tough. They're gonna be tough to score points on. They're gonna be a tough out. They're gonna sack the shit out Jake: of people. Yeah. Well, we'll see. Again, I think they're gonna be a top 10 D, I think they're gonna struggle in the offense, and I think this is the wrong part. Alright, enough about him and his Justin: bullshit. Well we have new coaches. We hired a guy. Yeah. We hired Todd Bowles, Todd Bowles, native Jerseyan. We hired Todd Bowles, who was on the jet staff at one point under Al Grow, I think, and the Parcells regime there. So he's got he's kind of a Parcells disciple, if you will. Nice. He was also under Parcells. in Miami when Parcells, was a part of the front office there. He's worked his way up to being the defensive coordinator the last two years with the Arizona Cardinals. and he's done a good job with the Cardinals defense and Crow. So, Cromartie. Peterson, so he's had really good corners. Jake: As well as a good front set. I mean, that's a really good defense. So if I want to be, if I want to be negative in LA, isn't that kind of the point? It's like, no, the one thing they say is that this year they had a lot of injuries early, like in training camp. Justin: Yeah, they lost, like, they lost one guy to substance abuse, like their best linebacker was gone for the whole year. Then they lost another guy for the whole year. Honey Badger wasn't there for like the first six weeks or so like they lost it they they were decimated right? But then they were still a good deal. They're still great defense. They were winning with third string quarterback They still won 11 games. They were down to their third string quarterback, and I was all winning like 13 Jake: Let's hope that let's hope that's not the plan for for the Jets. I would hope not but But so they went defensive again. I can't say I'm totally happy with that. The spin I would put on it, if I'm trying to convince myself this is great, is that A, maybe he won't be such a one-sided coach. He'll, the other side of the field will, the other side of the game will matter more to him. B, this team is sort of a defensive team. So if you hired a offensive coach right now, like...
01 Jake: Are you kind of wasting the talent that you have? Like you are who you are. Like are you a defensive team? Are you an offensive team? Although again, the best teams seem to be able to, you know, mix and match them a little bit more. And then, you know, two years of doing a job and doing good two years, isn't show me that you're the greatest of all time. That's just saying you've had two good years, you know. Running a defense for 10 years. I mean, Rex, I think ran the defense at Baltimore for more than that, more than. He was like three, four years. Justin: No. No? It was two years? It might've even only been one year where he was the coordinator. I gotta be honest with ya. Let's take a look. I feel like Rex was, as an assistant, he was, let's see. I guess he was a... Hmm, I'm looking... Jake: Yeah, I got first year of defense, overall defense, let's say. Ryan went to coach three colleges, so his ten year... Three colleges following his ten year to the Kansas day. His first year of defense was ranked. My second year, 2000, was ranked... The defense... So the defense constantly performed in the following... He was more than one year, dude. Justin: I don't think so. I mean, it might have been like two years. I think it was more than that. Anyway... I know he's been there for like eight or nine years, but he wasn't the core... Oh, 2005. So 2005. So from 2005 through 2008. So four years he was the defensive coordinator. Jake: Okay, but that's at least a little bit more of a... I guess what I'm saying is, is two years. Because if we look at two years of Rex Ryan's career of the Jets, his first two years, you'd say he's one of the greatest coaches ever. He took this no-name team and got them to the AFC Championship. Bulls had other Justin: spots where he was. He was the Eagles defensive coordinator for like half of one season I think when they had that stupid when Andy Reid hired like the he took his offensive line coach and made him the defensive Jake: Coordinator and then they fired him because it was terrible. Here's the actual thing. He was defensive coordinator for four years 2005 6 7 8 but he was a defensive line coach for you're talking about Rex six years before that. Justin: Right. Well, Bulls was a secondary coach since 2000. At Cardinals? No, he's around many. The Jets, he was with all Parcells around. He was with the Jets. Then he was with the Cowboys. Then he was with the Dolphins. They get it. Then the stint in Philly and then out in Arizona. When Bruce Arians took over. Jake: Right, so I guess what I'm saying is when I looked at Rex's history and I have not looked back for a while, I see from 1999 to 2008 with the same team he was a defensive line coach for six years in a row then he was a defensive coordinator for four years in a row.
05 Jake: Like his history of what you could look at to say what this guy is gonna be was longer. than Bowles, who's kind of been around and gone to a lot of different teams and he's only done the defensive coordinator for two years. That's two years to years, two less years to look at. So I guess, I think there's less, there's less tape on the guy. Here's the reality of the situation. Well, you, what's the real, tell me the reality, man. Justin: You have no fucking clue. Neither do I, neither does anyone. Yeah, how good is your job? Until they do the job. Right. Jake: You have no idea. Well, I will tell you, I'm going to be skeptical to start for one reason. Why? Because the statistics show that the guy who takes over from a terrible team the year before statistically, and I know you're going to throw out the one that actually didn't do any better this year, statistically that team does better the next year because they return to the mean, the average. I am, so I think if you do nothing, if you or I coach the Jets next year, we'd be a five or six win team. Well, it depends if it was you or me. Right, well, I'm a better general manager. But if we coach the Jets, I'm saying that there's the new person, you were terrible last year, you now have one of the worst, you have the worst. match ups, right? So you're going against the worst teams from the year before, last place schedule. I just feel like they're gonna return to a five or six win teams, if nothing else, even if Rex stayed it'd be a five or six win team. I don't know if that's the truth, but whatever. Well, I'm just, it's, it's Justin: hasn't happened for the Jaguars. They're not Gus Bradley, right? So I'm saying there's now two years There's examples of the team to go right back the box Yeah, they had a worse record Well, someone has that worst record. Well, I mean they went from like what four or five wins to like two wins Jake: So, let me think of the team with a new coach it did work for I don't know, who were all the coaching changes last year? I don't know, anyway, so again. The Washington team, they didn't get any better. I want to see this team do better, but I wanna see it happen. I'm not really looking at this year as a Mark, as a head coach, I'm looking at like two years from now. But anyway, so I. I'm relatively, I haven't even heard the guy speak. I haven't seen any of his conferences yet. I've read all of his stuff, but I haven't seen him speak. Me neither. So I need to go, I wanna see what kind of personality. He looks much more reserved, much more back to the mangenie area. He's not gonna get out there and tell you raw, raw stuff. Again, I think most Jets fans loved Rex and his boisterousness. It's kinda like who we were as a Jet. You're a Jet, play like a Jet. We're gonna fucking. Skull fuck you. Wow. I don't know what to say. And I think Todd Bowles is going to go back to like, well, the best player, you know, we're on to Cincinnati. Well, you know, he's not going to be, he's going to be less like, you know, I'm not going to kiss his rings. Plus, we have to change this opening. Now I got to get rid of Rex. Yeah. Ah, God damn it.
01 Jake: Oh, well, I'll do that next time. We need something for him to say. We need him to say something fun. Or we need someone, I'll leave in, I think it's okay to leave in Bart Scott, right? Because he last played for the Jets. He didn't go play for anybody else. Justin: He still does their post game stuff, doesn't he? Yeah. Oh no he doesn't. He works on like CBS. Jake: No he works with CBS. But he never went to play for anybody else. He never did. He retired a Jet. He retired a Jet. All right, so who else we get? Before that we actually got hired our GM. Yeah, what's his name? Mike McCagney What? Justin: Are you saying it right? I don't know Jake: I don't know Justin: Mike McGad McMcGad McGadcast I'm calling him M&M That's fine He does get a grade this year by the way Like Todd Bowles you can give a pass This guy doesn't get any passing Jake: Well he get, really? What are you going to judge him on? I'm going to judge him on his draft and his free agency But those things don't actually turn around. Well, it's gonna be interesting. He's in a great position. He is a lifelong scout. The guy lives and breathes scouting. So does he know anything about contract management? No, does he know anything about, you know, negotiation? He fired some of the oldest people on the staff. I gotta give you, I gotta give you. Justin: What are you gonna give me? I have to give you like, you know, we were building ourselves off of the the Seahawks, right? With Idzik. Yeah. Listen to this draft. The 2012 draft. JJ Watt. No, the 2012 Seattle Seahawks. Oh, okay. Okay, this is three years ago, which would be like next year would have been it's third year like his three years ago draft. Think about anyway. Bruce Urban. Good starting linebacker. Yep. Bobby Wagner. Yeah. Best inside linebacker in the league at this point. Right. Russell Wilson. Ugh. Robert Turbin. Good. These are all players who are like playing. Yeah. And playing prominent roles on this team. I'm going to jump to round six. Jeremy Lane. Nickel, Nickel Corner. Yeah. Round seven. JR Swayze. Yeah. Starting lineman. Yeah. That's a good draft. Jake: That's a good draft. Justin: That's a real good draft. Jake: So what are you saying that you're giving me? The eds that could have done better or I mean, you could have told I could have told you that last year. Justin: Here's this draft of second year guys and be like, fuck, that's a good draft. Here's the 2011 Seahawks draft. KJ Wright in the fourth, Richard Sherman in the fifth. Byron Maxwell on the sixth or the first Malcolm Smith in the seventh Doesn't matter though. That's four starting players on a super bowl team First round was James Carpenter a tackle no idea if he's still playing John Moffat a guard again I couldn't tell you but fourth round KJ Wright. He was the Super Bowl MVP last year
02 Justin: Sherman in the fifth again Maxwell in the sixth. These are two starting corners in the Legion of Boom And Malcolm Smith, I mean, that's pretty goddamn good Jake: Well in that the the Seahawks are you know? One of the best defenses the NFL scene and they took the whole bill through the draft thing and really did it, right? Justin: So I want to see Mike McAgnan, McAgnan do it. I want to see him do it. I mean, I don't know if we can look up like what the Seahawks did just last year. Jake: Why you probably came from Houston, Texas? Yeah, I know. Justin: I'm using a team that like like you can actually judge like, hey, these guys like built through the draft. Right so like you can you can say like I can judge these guys based on on the actual draft Jake: That's all I'm trying. Well. Let's look why don't we look at the Texans yeah, I'm gonna be the Texan draft the last couple years, okay So last year... Justin: First round of... Well why don't we do first rounders? Jake: 2012. Well how about first rounders for the last couple years? Clowney last year, Hopkins the year before. Hopkins is good. Yep. Clowney we don't know. Whitney Marcellus. Yeah. JJ Watt. Wow. Kareem Jackson, Brian Cushing. Pretty good. Yeah, it's not bad. He has Mario Williams and some in there. All right, let's go back to like last year's draft. 2014? Yeah, so this is going down the draft. 2014, yeah, Clowney. Hopkins, Swearinger. Wait, that's two years ago. Sorry, I went to 14. Clowney. See you next time. Xavier Sowefiluwa, offensive guard, CJ Fedorowicz, Thorewizz, Titan, Louis Nix, Louis Nix, Tom Savage, Tom Matriman, Randy Savage, Justin: Jeffrey Pagan, Alfred Blue, Blue, my boy Blue! That's why I feel like we need to draft a running back in any round. Jake: That, by the way, this last draft actually looks like shit. 2014 looks like shit. Clowney barely played the entire year. Yeah, but that's... Tom Savage was the first overall pick. Tom Savage I've heard is one of the worst quarterbacks to ever play the game. Blue could turn into something, but that's not a lot. Alright, go back the year before that. Hopkins, Swearinger, Brennan Williams, Sam Montgomery, Treven Williams, David Trassenbury, Alan Boner... Boner. Chris Jones and Ryan Griffin. Boner. I'm gonna pick out of that one. Draft a guy named Boner. Hopkins is the guy. Hopkins is good. Okay, and I think I've heard of that safety. Whatever. He wasn't even the GM. Justin: But he was the head of scouting. Good. Let's see what goes as a GM. I'm giving him a grade this year. Jake: Okay, what's the grade? Oh, you know I asked him now here, but he they cleaned house Terry Bradway's gone
02 Jake: Let's go back. Let's go give Woody a great because Woody's done what he's supposed to do He's gone and filled the roster back up He fired Rex which we all felt like should need to happen And he went hired to got he hired two guys and they hired a bunch of other people including offensive coordinator Which we talked about give Woody a grade a through F or let's call it incomplete Can't grade him now. Right now. Sorry dude. Can't. Justin: Can't. Why? I'll grade Woody at the end of the year with the rest of these guys. No, no, no, no. Can't do it. You're just going on what you know right now. A plus, he hired people. He did his job. I don't know. I don't know anything. Jake: Well, I know you don't know anything. Quote of the fucking year. I'm gonna name like a B plus. Here's why. I actually have commentary. Because I think for the first time... I just gave a huge eye roll. A. I think he relied on what, you know, the problem with the last time was they relied on sort of hiring committees and companies. I feel like they took their time. They didn't put the pie in the sky like go for the Quinn. They hired people who really were needs. and they listened to football people on their hiring. And I think it was exhaustive. I think they did lots of interviews for lots of different guys. So I can give you a B plus. The A will come depending on what he did. I feel like when he hired Rex, I was an A. That was the guy we wanted. It was the best game for the team. It was an A. Man, Jeannie turned out to be not so good. But Rex, even looking back, that was an A higher. It was the guy we wanted, it was amazing. He went and brought guys with him. That'll be another thing, is this guy gonna, is Bulls gonna bring guys with him that are gonna help this team? Rex brought guys, he was at Barks Scott's house the next day. He brought Leonard, he brought Scott, he brought- There was a lineman. Yeah. I forgot his name. So that made this team instantly credible. That's the kind of stuff I want to see happen, right? I want to see this guy not only come in and do something, but he needs to like bring guys in. Talk about how. The GM or the coach? Good coaches bring guys, I think. Anyway, that's my experience with frickin' Rex. I thought it was amazing. We ended up getting three guys who helped that year. Justin: But nobody came along with anyone else. Jake: We thought like we're gonna lose Paris. Paris is gonna go to frickin Buffalo. I don't see that I don't find that to be true fact. I'm just saying just joking cuz it's kind of what he did before with parts Justin: God. Oh, I think he'll try it, but I actually don't think it's an area of need for the bills Middle linebacker They've got that covered Jake: Um, so I know I think and I think he took again. I just you could kiss Dwan Landry. Goodbye Justin: He'll be the Jim Leonard. Yeah, bye. He'll be over there in Buffalo There's go Buffalo. They know the system that the bills ran it two years ago under patent Jake: So you're saying incomplete because you have no commentary. No commentary. Let's talk about the Super Bowl Super Bowl Excuse me. First of all, Jets house
01 Jake: They're doing it again. So the last year they did this Jets House thing in Times Square, or not Times Square, down by Penn Station, where a season ticket where we could buy, we went, I high-fived Rex, maybe we cursed him, and it was great. We had a great time. I've touched it. You had this jinx stink on him all year long. Yeah, all year long. Well, you high-fived him too, so whatever. Justin: I was wearing gloves. Jake: Um... So, and they're doing it again, so even, it's sort of like a super bowl thing. Tomorrow, there's gonna be... Geno Smith's gonna be there while I'm there. This is why I said no. Justin: He said, you wanna go? He said, I have no interest. Jake: You said no because you're stupid. Because I have no interest in it. Justin: And lazy, and lazy, and you'd rather be sleeping. I would. Now, who's gonna be there tomorrow while you're there during your session? I don't know, I have to go back and look. Geno? I think Geno's gonna be there. He's gonna be a booed. No, he won't. Jake: Yeah, well, you suck, you know, you suck, you know, you suck, you suck, you suck, go get me a sandwich. Give me a full good sandwich. Gino, throw me a sandwich. Oh no, throw me. Intercept. Fuck you, Gino. That guy just intercepted your sandwich. FUMBLE! Throw me a meatball, Gino. That's terrible. Alright, so that's happening. I'm gonna go tomorrow. I don't know who I'll meet. Last year I met Rex. Who you end up talking to? I was talking to Ray Mickens for a nice five ten minute conversation. Nick Folk was there. Justin: We had a nice conversation with Nick Folk. Yeah, it was fun. Again, I'm gonna go- Emerson Boozer was there last year when we were there. Marva Jones was there. Yeah, it's fun. Joe Klecko was there while we were there. It was a nice group while we were there. Jake: I can't wait. I'm excited. The food was nice too. The food was nice at that open bar. I don't think that other section will be but- The because that was like part of the right there like that chef. All right, let's talk about deflate gate Yeah, this has not been resolved yet. No but Let me 12 and balls were deflated can I ask you a question you interview me? Okay I'm the former expert deflate gate a Justin: bigger deal or Not as big a deal as Spygate. I wasn't going to go there, but as Spygate. Well, same team. Sorry, I was going to go with another event. But which one? Bountygate? Bountygate. I was going to go to Bountygate. Jake: Not as big as Bountygate. Not as big of a deal. Not at all. And not as big as Spygate. Because not as big a deal as bounty gate neither. I don't think it's as big a deal as either. I think this is a This is a This is just part of the Patriots thing and I know I'm a jazz fan. So I'm a Patriots here or whatever I don't think it actually I didn't do the outcome of the game right I don't think it was any real advantage other than someone likes the balls a little bit softer. But I don't actually think that if you took a thousand throws and a thousand whatever and balls that were two pounds underneath, 14 pounds, that it would mean any difference in actual catchability or do it. It's just the way he likes the feel of it. I don't, so I don't have,
00 Jake: I don't think it has anything to do with the game. Is it bending the rules or trying to skirt the rules for some sort of a- Well hold on, I thought I was interviewing you. Well I'm still saying- You're interviewing yourself. No, I'm saying it's not- I asked you one question and you answered it with four answers. I'm still answering. So bad at this. Spygate was a real advantage. To watch? to watch videot videotape of someone's practice walk through their walk through of their what they're going to do on the field and to watch that gives you an advantage in the game and it was and even if you had said to somebody like it like there's no like there's no soft gray line like well you never told me i shouldn't be videotaping like it just it sounds scummy and it is scummy and you got caught and they lost a pick and they paid $500,000 you know what you did to me. I'm done. I'm done. I'm done. I'm done. I think he has something to feels his, feels his balls and goes, ah, he's too hard. Make him softer. I don't think it's that. I think it's like, hey, buddy, you doing the balls for the game? Yeah, you know, you know how I like them or like, or the guy just knows because he works with Tom Brady for over the years. He knows the guy likes this balls a little softer. So he kind of just put them down a little bit softer. Justin: Tom Brady definitely. knowledge of the situation. I don you like. Jake: And then the reports come back and deflick it was real big thing. How could it be any bigger? He literally walked in to me said make him softer. Yeah Bigger, okay goddamn scenario. Okay goddamn snacks Justin: It was he it was a big distraction yeah
12 Justin: And they lose the I, the Not even one of them. No, I don't think you don't think craft is could get so fed up and be like, you know What fuck this? Oh, I'm so fed up with your success Jake: First, but this is bill Bill. It's been doing this for years. I think he's probably caught on 50% of the shit He does. It's like the offensive lineman, lineman thing. It's like they're always looking for an advantage. It's what makes him good He's always looking for an advantage Inefficiencies and I think he's looking to make the the team better in any way he possibly can, which again if you're a Patriots fan you're like yeah baby because that's how we win and that's how they win. So here's my take on it. Okay, can I interview you? I mean you can it's pretty short. Yeah I mean, wait, wait, are you surprised that I'm not as freaked out about it? Oh, okay. Well, I'm actually surprised that you're not as freaked out about it. Justin: Yeah, see, I told you. You thought I'd be like, fuck those fucking cheater scums. I'm only here so I don't get fined. Jake: Yeah, that's the best. Justin: But if I have to give you a real answer, and then we gotta do some real quick. But I'm only here so I don't get fined. I don't give a flying fuck about this at all. To me it's like not a thing. I was a little surprised that you... That you... That I'm reasonable. Yeah, that you're being reasonable at. I feel like it is... It's a fucking football man. If it's like a half a pound... Like, and it's- not even a pound wrongful, it's a pound of- Pressure right not it's not like they took a 14 pound object and made it weigh 12 pounds. That's retarded Any good actually throw it longer sure that's stupid. It's like pounds of pressure inside the football I understand the way pressure works well my balls are inflated. We know our fans. Okay. They're not the brightest The two of them that are left four left throw me a ball Gino I really don't care about this deflategate. All right, let's get to. Jake: I think I think this the overall feeling is that a the media is nothing better to talk about. Well, yeah, there were much weeks. There were much better and bigger things that happened in the in the in those playoff games. There were there were worse on the field. There were there were there were other things that happened that should have been much more paid attention to. I almost feel like, you know, if... Justin: I almost feel like the NFL rather be talking about the flake gate, which is something so silly then like then they're really Deficiating yeah that actually made games change We haven't spoken since Brian and spoken since that does catch which is totally a catch Jake: Yeah, well, I mean, I'd be I'd never watch. So but I think the thing the bigger thing is listen, the Patriots are cheaters. They're known cheaters. They've been caught cheating before.
00 Jake: So I think I think this just goes to kind of their history and that there's going to be an asterisk somewhere in the history books. It's like, yeah, there will. And this is the only way to do a check. There was the thing that they were supposed to done during the Rams that they did the same well That was the spy gate right, but they didn't catch him for the Rams a car for the Jads. No, they caught him Justin: Because man genie knew that they were knew that they were doing it. So he said something But if you recall what happened was they went into fuck you mode and won every goddamn game that year Yeah for the Super Bowl Jake: So then let's talk about the Super Bowl. Let's get to the Super Bowl. So I was thinking about this. Is this your prediction? What did you pick? Seattle Patriots? Wow. That's two years in a row that one of the two of us. One of us has picked it. Next year, we both go to Vegas. We both pick and we both put like $1,000 each. Because then one of us is going to get it. Well, last year, did you pick? the outcome correctly too, you pick the Seahawks. Oh, so you, you still still got it until you pick one. So, so surprising too, because you suck at, cause you suck at it. Cause you suck at, cause you suck at, cause you suck at, cause you suck at, cause you suck at. Cause you suck at. when you got to stay on, I got to stay on that bandwagon and stick to my guns and how Justin: the Seahawks are going to win. How are the Seahawks going to win? I think it's kind of a simple The way the Seahawks win is fairly simple. It's it's It's the way that the Jets play the Pats really tight But we lose because we're not as good of a team and our Russell Wilson and March on Lynch Well, we have Chris Ivory who's very similar to March on Lynch we had not even close to his good and March on Lynch is gonna run for a good 130 some yards in the fucking believable to watch run like you really a runner he's not a runner he's a truck he's really hard to tackle and this is the back this is the kind of back that the Pats don't have an answer for the Pats are not built to beat teams like this they're built to be like the Broncos like they're built to throw Reavis on an island right and help out everywhere else and take away the strength of the other team but when the strength of the other team is running it down your throat they don't have the horses for that right we've shown it we the blueprint I think is Patriots go watch how the Jets play against the pads on offense and play that way but you have okay You said Patriots. You said Patriots go watch how the Pats play. Seahawks go watch how the Jets play the Pats. Right. Because we play them really well. All every time. Pretty much every time. But okay. Play your defense. Right. Because your defense works and you play that press man and you do your thing. Jake: And... Justin: But watch how we play offense against them. We pound it down their throat and it works. So I think that that's how the game goes. I think Seattle's just a little too tough. They get pressure. They get pressure on the quarterback
01 Justin: and they can run the ball. So I do think it's gonna be close. It's gonna be tight game and I'm gonna pick a really odd score. Alright well I'm trying to give you a space to write it in here. Hold on. I don't need to write it. Well no I want to write it because I want it. Alright give me a space. There you go. Thanks. I have this game ending. 18, 17. Jake: Well, I have to make a very fast pick. I had some fast. Because I've got four minutes to get up to the next place. I got other things to do than sit here and chat with you. Like what? So you're picking Seahawks to win 18 to 17. Justin: That's what I'm doing. Jake: I first of all think that having known them, watched them last year. I feel like when you stand up an incredible defense, and this is a defense for the ages, I mean, the last three years, this defense. Now, I'm hoping that everybody's healthy, like I don't know this Sherman thing, is he actually healthy, you know, like holding his arm. I just don't see how, you know, this is like the better than the Ravens defense when they beat the, what the fuck did they beat the Giants, right, this is that type of defense. I don't see. how the Patriots are going to run on them run on them do anything and then And then you turn the other side and you say, this isn't that anemic offense. Like the Ravens offense was like anemic. It was like whatever. They just had to get up there and stay on the field long enough so the defense could catch their breath. This offense... can actually move the ball. I don't think they're gonna need to. Like, I don't think they're gonna need to, like, you know, throw the ball. I don't think they're gonna be successful throwing the ball. But as we know, they can run the ball and they can run it with Russell and they can run it with with Lynch. And the problem that they had the first half with the Packers is they kind of got away from their own system, like a lot of the options stuff and like having Russell Wilson move around and that's like I caught and that's why he was throwing picks. I think what happened in that game is Russell Wilson got his clock cleaned when he threw that one pick. And then he didn't come back until the fourth quarter? Anyway, I don't see that happening again. Russell Wilson is a, could go down in the record books as one of the greatest quarterbacks ever to play the game. Like, I know it's crazy to say that now, but if you look at what he's done in the short. time that he's done it. He's on the Tom Brady trajectory. He's, yes, and so we'll see. But I honestly think that the, I think it'll be a, it'll be a, it'll be a bigger bullet than people are expecting. It's, the Patriots are underdogs by a point. Is it? Yeah, they are. Are they over? I thought the packs were favored. Let's take a look. The latest thing is the Pats. Oh, yeah, they are favored. Okay. Let's go back and change that. Are they the home team or the Technically Seattle's the home team. Okay. Yes, so it's New Mexico. I'm gonna say I actually think we're gonna get closer score to last year then we're gonna get to that
02 Jake: I don't think it's gonna be that close I just don't think it's gonna get there. Tom Brady has a way of getting to the, being a great team, and then getting to the Super Bowl and meeting a better team and just getting crushed. So I'm gonna go 16... 27. Seahawks! Goal Hawks! And that's it. All right, I gotta get off, because I gotta get on another call in seconds. This is Justin and Jake saying, and we'll be back I guess next week or the week after when we have stuff to talk about. Let's go Chats.
