09 Justin: The best place to be is when expectations are high. Get used to it. It's always going to be that way. Jake: Welcome to Jet Kingdom Podcast, the longest running New York Jets podcast ever. I'm Jake and joining me for the 200 and something time, 235th time. Oh, that's a lot. It's Justin. Justin, how are you doing today? How's your team looking? My Jet Kingdom Fantasy Football Team or my Jets Team? Your Jets Team. Oh, my fantasy team is so much better than my Jets Team. It's like funny. So true. Why are you laughing? It's not funny. No, it's not funny. Well, it's gone now. It's not funny. It's over. It's over. It's over. So, welcome to 2015. Thanks. It's a whole new year. Yay, guess what? Jets or O and L? Haven't lost the game all season yet Justin: over 2015 is Jake: On the London run to the off run to London run to the off season So we're gonna go we have some agenda today. We're gonna talk about the Miami game a little bit. Yeah, I guess we were Yeah, I could pull up that box score I did rewatch it. We'll talk about some news because nothing's going on. I don't really want to talk about that Miami game. No, I think we should. Pisses me off. Well, all right. We'll get into it. Talk about some news. We'll talk about the Jet K fantasy. We'll talk about the pick-up and then we'll pick all the playoff games. Yeah, we should do that. Yeah, so we'll talk about the playoff games. I'll log into that stupid thing. Yeah, so let's start with the end of the year where the. Terrible, terrible Jets went down to Miami to play basically, I mean, second year in a row. Too funny. Second year in a row in Miami, last game, meaningless for the Jets. This one, I guess, was actually meaningless for the Dolphins as well. That Rex and his tenure were in question, although I think this year it was... 90% chance he was getting fired. Like, how about 99? 99% chance he was getting fired. How about 100? Justin: Well, there's a story that hit that he had cleaned out his office already. Jake: That's... by the way, that's... He wasn't cleaning it out, he was cleaning it up. Either way... He had Christmas stuff, and he was like, Oh, Christmas is over, I'm gonna get rid of my Christmas stuff. That includes my nameplate. No. And then, so we go down to play this game, the Jets have three wins on the season, Justin: are sitting pretty, I think, at the third pick, could move all the way up to the second Jake: if Jacksonville had won, which they didn't. Didn't happen anyway. Which didn't happen. And basically play the most meaningless game that we've played in a long time.
00 Jake: Even last year it felt more meaningful to beat the Dolphins. Well, we were gonna get to 500. Right get the 500 versus getting to four right and we were like oh Let's just get another win for Gino and like right he's he's playing well over the last quarter of the season So let's make that work and all all of that fun stuff right so that was the right There was no playoffs last year no playoffs this year not even not even a sniff So So here we go into the game and the Jets did a very Jetsy thing. They were so Jets. They played almost the game that you would have wanted them to play pretty much all season. Where they scored more points, I think almost double their average for the year. I don't think it was double their average. Yeah Well, okay almost I'm throwing numbers out there not numbers that are real just Fun numbers. I mean I could tell you that their highest scoring output prior to this was Against New England on that Thursday night when they lost 27 25 So 25 was their previous High. But if you look at their season, don't you think that their season had a lot of not... I'm gonna open up the game book here. I doubt that they averaged under 20 points. I feel like 20 is like really low. Although they very well could have because they had a zero in there. So I mean, where's the darn schedule here? I'm looking at it right now. All right, so it was. uh, 19, 24, 19, 17, 0, 17, 25, 23, 10, 23, 13, 24, 16, 16. That's under 20. Probably with the zero and the three. That's under 20. So like I said, they almost put up double the points that they put up all season long against by the way, the Dolphins defense that towards this year was actually looking good. Wasn't supposed to be this terrible defense. It's not like we were playing against, you know, some terrible defense. Whatever. and It was a crazy game. It was like, you know, Gino plays other than his, his fumble, which apparently doesn't go to your QBR, which is a little weird. Well, QBR and quarterback rating are different things. I totally understand, but it's one way to measure a, a, it was his best game. It was Gino's best game ever in his career. Right. Perfect rating. It didn't impact that, but that's not. The ESPN, QBR. No, well they're separate. They're two separate stats. In fact, ESPN came up with theirs because they didn't like the way that the NFL did the QBR.
02 Jake: They thought it was two, whatever. You keep calling it QBR. It's not. It's not? No. What's it called? Rating. QBR is the ESPN one. Correct. He went 20 for 25, 358 yards, three touchdowns. Guess who else showed up to the party? Eric Decker with 11, 10 catches out of 11 targets, 221 yards, average 22 yards per catch. It's a big game. Had a touchdown. Big cum. Had to touch down. Chris Ivory had to touch down. Justin: Mm-hmm. Wait, it was just this crazy. The thing is, you always- Jake: Eric Decker helped his season statistics out quite a bit. Oh yeah. I mean, he finished the season now with 962 yards. and he didn't play in one game and I remember him being like pretty much a decoy in another game and he would have had a thousand yard seeds so as a funny part of it. So as a Jets fan was this game, did this game you the hope for the next season or did this just be Jets? okay tell me why. Because I don't want to win this game there's no reason to win games that that you The only thing that you do by winning this game is go move from down to the number six spot in the draft. Like you already are firing... Listen, if Woody was like on the fence about firing Rex or Idzik, don't you think he would have kept him after this game? He was already... these guys were already out the door. Right, they were gone. So this did nothing. Did nothing but hurt the next regime. and ultimately the Jets. Didn't help them. If you want to look at it and be like, well, Gino played great. Well, that doesn't help you either. I agree. I agree. I was, I was so, unbeknownst to everybody on the podcast, I guess, listening, I was at the game. This is the annual go down with my wife. I actually had a blast. It was fun. We got there early. We walked around. We didn't have anywhere to tailgate, but we walked around the stadium and went in the stadium and met a lot of people. Just played like there was games, it was drinking, it was beautiful weather of course. And I openly rooted against my team. I openly was like Go, dolphins go I mean I was dressed in my jet skier. I think I was was I wearing I think I was wearing a Wilkerson and But you know I really didn't want them to win I want them to play well like I wouldn't have minded this game if they'd lost by two Key jets but like to win like we didn't need to win didn't need to win and the thing about Gino This is like this is that I wish because I'm convinced that he's not a good quarterback. Again, I could be wrong, but I'm convinced he's not a good quarterback. Although I've seen a quarterback in the playoffs that was worse, but I just, I didn't want him to show that,
00 Jake: like give that glimmer of hope that now someone goes back and, like if you only watch, I know this will never happen, but if you only watch that game as like your tape on him, you'd be like, yeah, he's starting next year. Look at that, he's second year, third year is gonna get better. But it's like you had to watch with no pressure on the game None, no pressure with who knows what what the Dolphins were playing for because they too were playing for nothing Nothing. I mean there were rumblings of their coach maybe being fired and that they didn't as a jet then I'm actually glad because I don't think he's that good I think he's like an average coach and I think it's great that they keep an average coach because I don't think that keeps them Good. This is a long time. This Delfas team, as I was screaming at the fans, I'm like, Justin: we're a three win team. You should be destroying us. And they couldn't beat us. They had beaten better teams. They could beat us. Jake: They almost beat the Pats. They did beat the Pats. They almost beat Green Bay. They crushed San Diego. They hung in there with Denver. I think they only lost by a field goal Right like they played they came for the Titans to and they played some good games pretty tough But they couldn't finish that was the thing. I'll go finishers So I'm kind of glad that they kept their coach because I'm like good keep your coach I don't think he's gonna lead you anywhere. Yeah, keep them fuck you. Um, I can't help you Joe Philbin Joe Philman Philbin. Philber. I'll take him as my offensive coordinator. Maybe. But yeah, kind of just a disappointing, I mean again, it's when you're in the other person's stadium and they're all upset, I mean they were just, especially leaving. There was the momentary nice piece, at least being there, was kind of like watching all these dolphin fans, like I can't believe we just lost to the fucking Jazz. I know. And being there. So like if I had to take a... Justin: Like, what was the upside to the game of us winning? I also don't know what it actually did for us in the draft. Jake: If we miss out on Amari Cooper because we're at 6 and not at 4, I might be upset about that. Well, but like last year, we're gonna have plenty of time to talk about the draft. There are 3 or 4 wide receivers. Who knows if this is as deep as last year was with wide receivers. I mean this rookie receiver crop was... Yeah, and we missed out on all of them. And that's why. All of them. So we got Shaq Evans. Please stop. It's embarrassing. So, um, so I guess the game, I mean, I don't know, anything else about the game. I mean, there was some, again, it was just this weird game to watch. You're like, oh, wow. And they were sacking Tannehill a lot. They give that They give that very Jets play the 99 or 99 and a half yard run play. You're like, come on, guys. Although at that point I was like, yeah, go.
01 Justin: Go Lamar Miller, go. Jake: You know who looked good? Besides, wait, besides. Besides not often on the defensive side of the ball. OK, who? Playing his more natural 4-3 defensive end position, Quentin Culpals. Really? They couldn't block him. Really? I don't have the box score in front of me. I really should. I feel like he had at least two sacks. I can look at it. I can find it for you. And I was in Bahamas and I was watching this on television. It was kinda nice. But yeah, I felt like there were times, and I think it was after Richardson went out, where he was, where they like, kinda put him back on the line. Yeah, he had two sacks. Where it was like, damn. He had seven sacks in that game. Yeah, we were all over Tannehill. There was a point in which they just could not block us. Right, and that line had been good all year. I mean, he actually, not so true. He'd given up, I think, the third most sacks in the season. David Harris had two sacks. Yeah they just they I mean Harris had two Wilkerson won and Davis had one. Koppel said two. Sheldon Richardson had one before he went out. Sheldon Richardson not making the pro-wool. I don't know why Jett's defensive lineman continued to get shot out of the goal. Well, I think they're on shitty teams. That's pretty much it. Yeah. You're on a shitty team. Um, anything else to say about this? So you're not happy that you saw a little Geno Smith do well? Mmm. No, I mean, Gino clearly has like physical talent, but he doesn't have the thing that you really need as a professional quarterback, which is just the thing inside your head. It just isn't there. Right. And it'd be great if I saw him play like this against a team when it mattered. It just is not. But he's really kind of not played very many meaningful games in his career. Justin: And he still had, he still had, and even in this game, a game that he played really really Jake: well, he still had the genome moment. He still had the fumble. He's the fumble. Didn't he take a sack? Didn't he take a very long sack? So I feel like, I don't know, I feel like it's... Whatever the good news is that whoever comes in again? We get to the real news that we're kind of talking around which is that The Jets promptly on Monday morning early I'm in ish meta was taking pictures of Rex Ryan in his car at 7 o'clock in the morning Which is like really like is he that much of a celebrity you're taking pictures of him like getting in his car in the morning This meta needs to be put to put out to pass. Yes, he does Um, that uh, early morning on Monday morning, black Monday as they call it, uh, they, which is racist, they killed, uh, they killed and took out, uh, both the head coach. They didn't kill and take anybody out. They took them out. They literally took them out. No, they fired both Rex Ryan. and John Idzik, so we are now in the... What are these people with their billboard gonna do? They... they... they take them down! They got it done! Good job. Good...
02 Justin: Good... well, he never said Fire Rex wine. He always said Fire Idzik. Jake: Yeah. It's so funny. I was talking to someone the other day and they were like, so are you happy about Rex? And, um... No. It's a weird answer. It's like. I... I... Not really, but I know that it was time for a change. And then I say, I said to that person, and I've said this to other people, I've said, it's kind of weird if we would have just fired, say, you know, Eric Mangini. Say he was the coach the last six years. And Rex Ryan just got fired by, I don't know, the Falcons. Rex Ryan would be the guy I'd want to hire. Out of all I. I he's probably the best, meaning the guys who bid head coaches that are the knowns. Right, because he's been a head coach in one place, not three. Right. He's had success without quarterbacks. You know you're gonna get a defense as soon as he walks in the door. Think he's a perfect fit in Atlanta. I think if he doesn't coach in Atlanta Something went wrong. Well, he's interviewing Interviewing with the bills and bills is not that's not the spot and He gets to walk into EJ manual with no first-round pick this year. That's not gonna work for him He's got to go Atlanta. But the good news for the person And their staff. If they want to keep someone who's still a contract, they will keep them. If they don't, then they will bring in their own people for that particular position.
05 Jake: I think they're probably still under contract. What about the controversy of the general manager or the coach before the general manager? I don't think it's really a controversy. Well, it is because people are saying, well, how can you possibly get a coach before you get a manager? the New York City media. Because it's not typical. Justin: It's not typical. Jake: Typically you get the top guy and then you fill out the. I don't know what is typical or not. I know when. When's the last time you saw this happen? How's that? Pete Carroll was hired before. Yes. Before the general manager was hired in Seattle. They were hired at the same year. Right. But Pete Carroll was hired first. and then they hired the general manager, they won the Super Bowl. Oh, I see, that's what happens. No, I think that's because they wanted Piquero very bad. I think it's like, it's what you want. Like, I think they're, what them going after head coaches first is saying, head coach is more important, and if we get the right guy, we'll get someone in the back office. But there's also like reporting structures. So some head coaches, is. report to the general manager. And then the general manager reports to either someone else or the owner. Sometimes the head coach reports to the owner and the GM reports to the owner. And the owner just, that's who they report to. So if they don't really report to you, if there's no chain of command there, then who gives a shit? Well I've heard a lot about the packages. The problem will be that if you're trying to hire the head coach, He's wants to know well who's the general manager because it's the guy who's gonna help him You know put together the team right if you're trying to hire the the GM the GM's like well I want to have a say in the head coach So what you ask me there's no head coach on the list of people that we're looking at Yeah, that has the cache to say I want more control than a typical head coach would necessarily yet. No, these are all kind of... There's not a lot of coordinators. Yeah, there's not a lot of retreads. A couple, Doug Marone, fine, but that didn't go well. Tom Cable was a head coach. Right. Of the Oakland Raiders who did Raiders. When he was there, they didn't do well. Todd Bowles was an interim head coach for a couple of... games but that's about it. So is there anybody on this list that just stands out to you as give me one guy, there's a ton of guys. A lot of guys. Give me a guy that you want them to stop talking about immediately and then give me a guy who you are kind of are excited about. Okay so can I just, I want to scratch Anthony Lynn and just say forget, I'm not even gonna, that one's like Puff. The pre before I even say stop talking. Okay, there's no purpose in talking to him, right? Um, I I feel like Tom cable note. No need to talk to Tom cable, right?
00 Jake: He to me is very much akin to What the fuck is his name the guy who is are like offensive line coach for many years and was the head coach in Oakland Also, and is now the offensive line coach for Dallas I can't remember his name, but it doesn't really he's No need to talk to Tom cable just because he's in Seattle. Whatever we have this infatuation with Justin: Bringing people in from Seattle, right? Which I feel like the first thing we should do is just learn from our mistakes Jake: Like don't just go get someone because they're on a successful team. That doesn't necessarily mean they'll be successful. Yeah, I Personally on this list. I'm intrigued by Frank Reich for some reason Because he used to play who used to Not that he was a jet for one season as a backup quarterback. I'm always intrigued by career backup quarterbacks as head coaches. Okay. In the NBA, oftentimes, head coaches were like point guards. And a lot of the times they were like role playing point guards or backup point guards. And those two positions are kind of like... Cousins the point guard kind of runs the team on the floor and the the the quarterback is running the offense on on the field and I feel like for a backup quarterback to Stick around for like 15 years in the league They they have to have something about them that that like an intelligence level because like alright they're not physically talented enough to be a starting quarterback in the NFL but they're valuable enough to be on the team for so long as as a backup and they they clearly like understand football at a very deep level because they're quarterback and they're they're they've been around for so long right um like i i just feel like That kind of guy I really like. You know, Jason Garrett is one of those guys in Dallas. Is he the greatest coach in the world? Eh, maybe. No, no, no. Oh, sorry, sorry. Is he the greatest coach in the world? Is he a good coach? Yeah, he's a good coach. The whatever's out. The jury's out. Well, he's never had a losing season. 8 and 8 isn't great. It's not losing. Yeah, whatever. Whatever. When he was an offensive coordinator, he was excellent. Right. He might be Peter Pritchard. He's a fine coach. Um, I don't know. I feel like at the beginning of this year he was kind of... I have this kind of infatuation with a backup quarterback. So Frankie is your guy. I think that's who I would pick. So it seems like... Frank Wright. I think the things that I'm kind of interested in is sort of... It's just my gut feel is I want to go with someone who's offensively minded. If it's a 50-50 split, they're 51 offensive 49.
02 Jake: And so someone like Todd Bowles, while their defense was good all year, it seemed like... When it really came to count, they got, you know, run on the last couple games. I got run on terribly. The thing on him is, well, you know, they did, they did a lot with a little, right? He lost some guys and they still had a good defense. I just don't know if this league is about defenses. And I look at the playoff teams and I always try to think of, okay, well, who, if you were playoff team right now. If you were the Jets... Who would you want to be? Which one would you model your team after? I'm thinking, okay, so of the four, sorry, eight teams left, which teams are there are defensive powerhouses? I think one. Of all of them left. Just trying to think I mean see at all we could do Ravens Patriots no defenses. That's bullshit No, they're not powerhouses. I don't hatreds defense is excellent I think I think it's not as excellent as you think it is. I think you're incorrect sir, okay Then you go Seattle Carolina Seattle's got a really good deal. Carolina's defense was terrible all year. Custard up in the last three games. But Seattle's defense is really good. Next day you go to Colts, Broncos. Broncos is one of the top rush defenses in the league, and they only give up a lot of yards because people have to throw on them to come back. Right. But they're not. Elite top defense How do you define that is that like by sight or is that by stats? How are you like it's just why do you say it if you don't know how you're defining it? It's it's like porn, you know when you see it and then Dallas that's not even a thing. It is Just said isn't even like a real. It is a thing. It's not a saying and then Dallas and Who they play greenbait Green Bay, Green Bay, known for their offense. I guess you had to say which of the teams, what are they known for? Seattle's the only team I think you say they're known for their defense. Patriots are known for Brady and Gronk, you know, Colts are known for luck. You know, these teams are known for... I'm just going to like these, the, you know. I don't know how you want to sort this, but Ralton Moore is known for total defense. Let's see. I'm just doing it points per game. Seattle is one number one. Yeah, if you're doing it points per game. But then if we kept going down this list, the Lions were third. They were in the playoffs. The Cardinals will fifth. They were in the both one Ravens or six. OK, the Pats were eighth. OK, everybody else is out of the top ten. The Packers are 14, Cowboys 15, Broncos 16, Steelers right there, Colts right there. I mean, there's no one in like the bottom 10. Justin: Well, right, because they're well-rounded teams, but they're known as offensive teams.
02 Jake: This is an offensive league. Yeah, I mean, if you do yards per game, I mean, the top three were in the playoffs. Seattle, Detroit, Denver. yards per game I don't know, I get it's an offensive league but like if you're gonna tell me like the Pats don't have a good defense I'm gonna call it bullshit No, they, they, they, first of all for the last a billion years they don't have an elite defense Has this year been a better than other years? Sure Yeah, cause they have a secondary But they have won the AFCE seven times in a row or eight times in a row or nine times in a row and it wasn't on the back of great defenses. Yeah but I don't care about eight nine years ago I care about this year right now. Justin: We have to deal with what we're dealing with. We're not doing it in a league that's like about a smothering defense can get you very far. Even the Steelers who are known for their you know steel curtain. They were an offensive team this year. They put up points. They scored, you know, he'd score six touchdowns in a game. Multiple games. 40 points. 51 points. Jake: Lots of points. Lots of points. So let me ask you a quick question now. No, I want to ask you a question. No, my point is I think we've, it's been 20 years since the Jets have had a... offensive-minded head coach. I would just like to go back to that. I'd like to go try the other side. Let me ask you a question. Okay. And I'm playing devil's advocate. I know you are. Because I too would like to have an offensive-minded coach. Right. I know you would. Who won the Super Bowl last year? Seattle Seahawks on the back of their offensive put up 41 points on the back of okay the best defense in the league yes okay I agree and the two teams that played each other in the Super Bowl prior to that Baltimore versus San Francisco both defensive teams yeah Well, this go Baltimore both Okay, I'm so sad. I'll take it. Yeah, okay year before that the Giants beat the Patriots Giants were a defensive team not that year. They weren't yeah the first time they played not the second time That's that's they put up 21 points. Wait, you're talking like in the Super Bowl. We took him off of the season Well both I mean more of a defensive team than an offensive team now the year before that And and and you know the year before that Green Bay and and the Saints absolutely offensive teams, right? The Steelers they were defensive team at that point. They were the Giants that year They were big time defensive team. Yeah, okay the Colts. No, that was really an offensive team Steelers again, then you get to that whole Patriots situation where that was really all defense all that whole stretch was like they were defensive team You got Tampa that was a defensive team
00 Jake: You've got Baltimore that was a defense team what's more lot of defensive teams? Justin: No, no more importantly go then and then let's do head coaches are the head coach on those teams Jake: Offensive or defensive? A lot of them are defensive minded head coaches. Okay, so we just had a bad one. I Think we had a I think we had a really good defensive coordinator playing the role of of a head coach. All right For so that's just what my mind is. I don't know if that's actually gonna happen or not happen We have the draft coming up. We have a number six pick. We have hour. I mean we have Many many many months to talk about this and the drafts were not going to have to talk about the draft But let's move on I don't even know if we should even talk about general managers Cuz I just I don't really know these guys from the hole in the head exactly and honestly What a general manager does in every different team, I don't even think you could say what they do on one team is a head coach does what he does. What the head coach does on one team and the other team, whether they call the plays or not, but they basically it's pretty similar, right? The head coach. It's not like, oh well, he also gets the queens, the queets. No, no, no. The head coach does what the head coach does. General manager, it's a mix because they can have They have other personnel in there and you don't some of them are responsible for like in-game entertainment. I mean they really are So I don't know I just don't know enough about what they actually do and I know Justin: That good teams seem to have good, you know in in retrospect good general managers who put together good teams. I know that Jake: Let's let's move on I can think we're gonna have more Well, right. Time to talk about this. Hopefully they're gonna get someone... I mean, that's the other thing is, are you happy about them waiting for the Quinn? The Quinn Prize? The Seattle guy? Yeah. No. And why? Because he's defensive coordinator. Yeah, he's kinda holding that against him. Okay, but you just rattled off all these reasons why it's okay to have a defensive coordinator. Yeah, but I watched the previous Seattle defensive coordinator. He's terrible, by the way. He's offensive though. No? No. He's a defensive headed coach? Pete Carroll was a secondary coach for the Jets before he was a defensive coordinator before he was a head coach of the Jets. And he was terrible. And that's the other argument, is the go with the guy who's kind of learned his lesson. We just watched the defensive coordinator... Of Seattle the guy built that defense before Dan Quinn came in and took it over right for the last two years But the guy who built that defense with Pete Carroll went and is now the head coach for the Jaguars And the last two years the Jaguars have not been any good, right? You can't tell me they have a good defense You can't tell me I don't have a lot of personnel either great Neither do a I think we have better personnel than Jack probably
00 Jake: But you know Well the good news is that anybody coming in it's like did do a good job of cleaning house Yes, he did clean house lots of money much in the cupboard. They have to spend it too. That's the thing You know you have to spend the money Yeah, they have all this money. There's Bob's we've we were below it so we have to get our average back up We have to spend You know over 90% of the of the cap that we have We have like a lot we have like 30 to 40 million dollars to spend depending on what they do with Percy Harbin. I Have a gut feel he's not gonna they're cutting him if they if he comes back It's out of very reduced price at 10 million dollars because he's so not worth that, right? Certainly not in the return game where the guy who we had to, we had better returns than he was not on the field. He's just not worth 10 million dollars. You can't tell me he's worth the same amount of money as a receiver as like, you know, like Jordy Nelson or any of these guys. Did TJ Graham almost break one? He was like one away from like taking it to the house. First you have him in his very explosive and very useful. He is. But he's not a 10 million dollar player. No. He's not an elite. Player in the league all right position, so let's talk it's hurt too much anyway. Let's give you your clue close I Am the motherfucker. I am the champion I have won the Jack King and fantasy football league Again, yes, and you can now shut the fuck up about your team 12 team I am the motherfucking man. Yes. I won the league two out of three years that it even existed. You didn't even make the playoffs this year. My offs! I took the year off! You are a pathetic weenie. I have, yes. A pathetic weenie? You heard me. Okay. I am just the best. I will have to say... I'm the best. And we can record it now. You wanna shut up so you can actually hear it? You are damn good at fantasy football. Damn right I am. Yeah, I will say, I mean, I don't know if that really translates into anything else in real life. Justin: There are only a few things in life I'm actually very good at. But fantasy football is actually one of them. Jake: But fantasy football is, I play with you in three leagues a year. I've played with you for three years, four years. Four years. Four years. And so I played with you in, if you put the numbers, 12, 15 different seasons, if you will. Plus I've seen you in other leagues. Justin: You do very well and you seem to always either win or come in second or whatever. So whatever you're doing, it's pretty damn good. Jake: It's called knowing what the fuck I'm talking about. Right. It comes to like a very... Justin: you think I mean maybe if you started Frank Gordon that other week you didn't start Frank Gore number third round pick just leave him on the bench it just Jake: didn't make sense oh yeah don't put Frank or your third round pick and just didn't make sense anyway so congratulations thank you what's more disappointing is that no one has challenged
00 Jake: us. I know! Step the fuck up, Jett Kingdom Nation! So what we've decided... I just create something Jett Kingdom Nation. No, don't do that. I have to close this tab here because it's just blowing up my mouth. There is a Jett Nation, so you don't want to do that. I said Jett Kingdom Nation. Yeah, don't do that. The Kingdom. So what we are going to do though is we are going to leave the league... What I'm going to do, and sometime we'll figure this out, but we're going, everybody can stay. Because we figured the history is a little more fun. I think that's what makes leagues fun. Yeah. And so we're going to leave this. So if you don't want to play, you can tell us and then you don't play. Although you know what I am going to say? We might kick out somebody if they don't participate. You know what I am going to say? Gareth? with. Is is in forever as long as he keeps doing that goddamn Thing that he writes which he slipped on three like listen we slack also we haven't done this podcast in a couple of weeks Yeah, but we've been 235. Yeah, let's go Garrett step up get it together. Anyway, so congratulations next year You're gonna need to do a good one when we're over there next year Oh yeah. Maybe we'll have to do this from there. Oh yeah, we'll have to. We can have someone, you know, get some guests on or something. We can have guests. We can have some guests. That'd be fun. Get racks on. Oh, they won't be there. Alright, let's do some picks. Let's do some picks. You know what I forgot to do this last week? Pick. Yeah. Is that why you're even lower than you normally are? Well, I'm actually only one game behind you and I didn't pick for the games last week, so I would... I would've gotten two, because I know what I picked. So let's pick, so you don't have to worry about AFC East? No. Not doing thrown picks? Let's just go for it. Wait, 1.30 PM? No, it's at 4, 4.30. all of Saturday. That's pathetic. So New England is hosting Baltimore. Baltimore has um everyone likes to say Baltimore's got New England's number in the playoffs because they've beaten them two out of three times. Yep. And I think the one time they lost was the missed field goal. Yes it was a missed field goal. Or was the over the. It was a missed it was a missed field goal after the guy like got stripped in the. Endzone he should have caught that ball and that would have won them that game too But I don't believe that actually has any a bearing. No, no every team is different So I think this New England team is fantastic And I think this has blowout written all over it New England's a favored by seven. They're gonna be pissed off Baltimore just pissed off. They are they're me like this everyone They're gonna play the note. Yeah, they are. They're gonna be like everyone thinks Baltimore's got our number. They they play that so well healthy ground healthy team healthy revus healthy Vince Wilferk like just healthy Brady not healthy Edelman, which could be key, but I think he'll end up playing
05 Jake: I like New England here to romp and I don't care about that seven points. Give me New England Justin: Yeah, I'm a little bit scared of the seven points. I think balls don't think Baltimore's good Jake: I just think I went I watch Baltimore go into a good team who I thought was gonna be was a better one of their best players Still they play it's a big deal. There's the there's that there's that there's that there's that feeling of I feel like Baltimore is going to play it close enough at 7 points. I don't think Baltimore will win, but I just can't see him losing by 7 points. I just can't take Baltimore. There's the Flacco, he's like unbelievable in the playoffs. He's unbelievable. It's not like he's never lost. No, of course he's lost. It's very hard not to lose in the playoffs. Lost games. Yes. But he's money in the playoffs, baby. He's money in that first game of the playoffs, that's for sure. And then at 8.15 Seattle is hosting Carolina. I think the game I'm least excited about, because it's a game I think it's going to be the most blowout. Again, I see Seattle. at home first game of the year playoffs Carolina Limping over there not a good team not a good team Not a good not gonna be able to run the way that they were able to run not at all knock No, he's gonna be able to get open. No, it's gonna be able to score more than like even I don't know how they even get a touchdown. We could be so wrong, but I just don't see it. They've played them tough. If you look at like the last two years, they've played them to all like both years. They played them. But those have been in Carolina at one o'clock. Right. Those are like West Coast team going all the way to Carolina and playing in the morning. Justin: Now you're I, at night in the cold in Seattle, 12 man going nuts, Jake: back in the playoffs. Ah, Seattle crushes. They're favored by 10 and a half and I have them. I have the favorites on Saturday and I actually go the other way on Sunday. I do have Seattle in this. I 10 and a half, I don't like that spread. I think it's too big, but I could totally see this getting out of control. I also think that playoffs is not a team that's gonna like lift up any. They will go for the jugular. They're champions, they get it. They know what it takes. Yeah, I just don't see any way Carolina wins this game I'm excited to watch and they wanted a playoff game, which is you know a next step right? But then they get crushed now. Yeah, I think so. It's like you know, it's like Cincinnati. They won the oh wait They didn't miss Carolina teams. Not a good team Remember, this is a seven eight and one football team by the way, I went to my good team I went to last week. I pick Carolina correctly. I picked Pittsburgh incorrectly. I picked Indy correctly and then I picked Dallas but they were supposed to cover they didn't cover. Yeah so I last week I did make these picks as you know in another pool right and I also went two and two. Two and two. Okay all right. All right on to Sunday one o'clock Green Bay is hosting
03 Jake: Dallas the Ice Bowl 2.0. These guys have not met in the playoffs in like a cajillion years since the ice bowl i think in so in uh now we have a arin rogers problem well his leg is hurt i'm picking dallas in this game i don't know if they're gonna win but i'm taking that six points because i think dallas is good enough to hang and This could be one of those like gut-wrenching they lose in the last second on a field goal type of losses in Dallas Otherwise I see them winning. I don't see it being a blowout either way I don't and see Green, Bay blowing Dallas out and I don't see Dallas blowing Green Bay out I see this being a close game. So I'm taking points here Justin: With the six. Yeah, it's only six. I feel like yeah, I kind of wish it was around seven one more point Jake: Would it made me feel a little more comfortable? But I'm gonna take just think that green Bay's gonna play better I think they win by more than touch down so I have this Tony Romo feeling Dallas, green Bay's great on the home it's eight and over say no you know, you know it's really weird Green Bay's 8-0 at home this year. Dallas' 8-0 on the road this year. The Storm's got to give. Yeah, no, it's not going to happen. And you know what? I'll take the home team, Lambeau Field versus the... 8-0 on the road. It's pretty impressive. It's very impressive. They won in Seattle. Yes, that was impressive. They're an impressive team. Quarterback's good. I just... I don't believe that's right very good running games travels. Yeah, we've seen it you and I've seen it with just that that offensive line Running game that that's true. Do not think they're going to anyway. All right, and we have the game of the The day yep So which are these games? I don't think you're most excited about a day Most excited the Green Bay Dalles game. I'm most excited New England just because I want to see Don't know I mean I'd love to see New England lose, but I'm really excited for that Sunday one o'clock All right Sunday for to end our Week, it's probably my favorite week of playoff football this weekend the vision there's still Saturday and Sunday and these are usually for pretty damn good right they usually are Well, I can be a lot of fun now can be but usually is like that's Usually there's a team or two in there that are kind of like clunkers, but the craziest shit happens Yeah, but that Arizona team that had a third string quarterback like that. I mean that was terrible. It's awful all right, so Denver's home they're facing indie their favorite by seven and I like Denver to win the game. I like indeed a back to recover it So I see like, I see a situation where Denver is winning by like 13 points in the fourth quarter and, and Indy scores a late touchdown and then tries an extra point and loses by
01 Jake: like six. Yeah, I have Denver. I'm sorry. I'm taking Indy as well. And he's just that team that's the point. Yeah, it's just that thing. That's always kind of playing catch up. And I think they like that. I think they, they like to play catch up. I think they're gonna sling it. Um, I feel like Andy's gonna, is gonna cover it- a to on Twitter. Green Bay and Denver. You think it's all the home teams? New England, Seattle, Green Bay, Denver. You think it's all the home teams, teams? Yeah, and if one's gonna upset, it's gonna be Dallas. Okay, so if that and if one's gonna upset, it's gonna be Dallas. Okay, so if that's your prediction, which I agree with, then we'll have a New England, Denver in New England. It has to be. Seattle this is the one that could go either way for me It can be there be Seattle Green Bay Seattle Dallas and if I'm Seattle I want to see I want to see Green Bay because I've beaten them Every year right they always beat them in Seattle. So then I think yeah, then I think you but I Yeah, I think if that if this is the home teams win that I think you're gonna get your Super Bowl prediction Right, which is New England Seattle. Yeah, and actually I had Seattle you had Seattle winning. Yeah, I think back to back And you were making fun of me I think they're the best team and I think the winning one's right behind them. It could be an interesting game. Anyway, alright well that's it for us. We'll be back next week with some... we'll go over the games. We'll talk about maybe we'll have some hiring news, maybe we'll have some firing news. Until then, as always, Justin and Jake saying... Go Jets!
