09 Justin: The best place to be is when expectations are high. Get used to it. It's always going to be that way. Jake: Welcome to Jack in a podcast, the longest running your chest podcast ever. I'm Jake. He's Justin. Something else I was going to say a bit nasty, but then I couldn't walk before allowed to say why? Because we said, let's start the podcast. We're starting the podcast right now. You fuck. You're a terrible person. Yeah. All right. Well, we got some news. We got some And... Jets news in a way we have some actually a couple pieces of Jets news We'll put them in there and we're talking about the championship games and then we're gonna talk about what's coming up for next week We have an agenda for next week. We were all supposed to fabulous things we're doing and And then then we'll that's it. We'll be out. Oh, we'll talk about the jacking and pick them see where we are Oh, yeah, if you still have picking I think I pay you so terrible that you just gave up Now I picked last week. I lost both. Excellent. Alright, well first up, a couple little pieces of news. Actually one I think happened and was resolved by the time we get back, which was the Geno Smith airplane incident. Have you heard this? Yeah, I kind of didn't really pay attention. I'm like, yeah, whatever. Well he got kicked off a plane. Between... Between... He's not having a good start to the offseason. Between the penis and the plane. in. This is my point. It's like, can this guy stay out of trouble for five minutes? Now they did come back either yesterday or today and say that they apologized, they said it was a misunderstanding, whatever. Why can't this guy stay out of the limelight? It started during the draft. I'm not coming back the first. I'm not coming back the second day. No. Then it came to he hired an agent that wasn't... He hired... Oh, with that I don't hold against him. You did at the time. Want me to replay? Well, looking back, I mean, it's turned into a reputable agency. It just so happened he was like one of the first clients. Has it turned into a reputable agency? Yeah, Jay-Z represents a lot of people who get paid a lot of money. So, like, he's done well. That makes it reputable. Yeah, it does. Like, if the guy does well for his clients, then yeah, that doesn't work. It doesn't make it reputable. It's not like he's Master P who represented Ricky Williams in, like, the worst contract in the history of contracts. Okay. So, it's not like... You know, it's not like that. The guy's done well for people. Alright. Don't think it makes it reputable. Anyway, then there's... Then he goes into training camp. I guess it wasn't anything in training camp. It was pretty quiet. Quiet? Quiet during the season? During the season, I. . . We loved him on the mic. He's, yes. We thought he's, we think he's excellent on the microphone. Then there's dick pics.
00 Jake: Then there's the penis. Then there's the plane. And then the plane. But it's only been a month, like, we have like six months more. Well, maybe, maybe we'll have some more good stuff. Maybe some butts. Maybe some butt fumbles. Oh, well that, he did do that in the middle of the season. Remember the pass behind the back? Well that was the behind the butt fumble. Oh well. Around the butt fumble. It hit his butt as he tried to- There was Sanchro news? Yeah, I know. I know, look at him. You should see his face, people. What's my Sancho movie? His face just lights up like a child on Christmas. What happened to Sanchi-poo? Anonymous sources say that he would be a starter on their team. Who's team? Did you not hear the first sentence I said? Anonymous sources say. Anonymous coaches and coach personnel are saying that Sanchez would be a starter on. their team. There's a number of teams in this league that he would be a starter on. I can name three off the top of my head. Go ahead and hit it. Minnesota, Oakland, Cleveland. Tell me you wouldn't start on any of those teams. Probably would on those three. Those are just without even thinking about it. Right. I think he's going to end. Well, Jaguars, Jaguars. Tampa Tampa you could go be someplace reunite with Reavis We got two pro bowlers I was one was deserved one was not very much It one was neat a lot of those pro bowlers not very deserved There are people when there's like you got picked because it was your name Yeah, chromarti The pro bowl which is interesting. It's not interesting at all. No, it is interesting. It's interesting news This is the first year they've so here's a long chance anything Can I just curb this conversation by saying by in no means is the pro bowl interesting? Well, the news around it is interesting. It's not interesting at all. I'm telling you why it's interesting Well, you could tell me and then I'll do you even know what's been going on the pro bowl? There was a draft for the players and it's not conferenced. Okay. Yes, I do. It's not interesting It's still a shit watch it the draft. Why would I watch it? I watched it. I watched the draft I did not watch it. Alright, so the point is that the poor will the pro bowl has always been traditionally played after Super Bowl and has always stunk in ratings and you know it's somewhere between a gift for people and they don't know what the NFL doesn't know what to do with it so they've been trying different things they've tried in the last five years they've tried moving it before the Super Bowl which they've done now they've moved to the same location as the Super Bowl which they did a couple years ago when it was in um when it was in Florida. So they moved it out of Hawaii twice. I think the players were like, no, we like going to Hawaii because that's kind of the fun of it. No kidding. And then this year they blew it up by saying, well, not only that, they've actually changed, the rules of the game are different too. There's changed some rules like. I would like to know the rule changes. Yeah, there's some rule changes that like they're making it more whatever.
01 Jake: Are they making it more of a real game? No, they're making it more of a. Less of a real game? Keeping it more fast. Well, because at this point it's. . There's nothing about it that's real. At this point, they're making it into fantasy football. So the draft was actually kind of fun. Why do they even have a defense on the field? So but let me tell you what happened, because I actually watched the draft. So what happened? Tell me what happened. So what they did is they picked two Hall of Fame players, Sanders and Jerry Rice. and they then had their teams and they built up a lot of hype around it, whatever, and then they had a draft where they had captains and they picked players going back and forth. So it was kind of fun. They had all the guys in a green room, it was a white room in Hawaii, and they came out and as they drafted and then they kind of like, you know, they drafted them onto their teams and so they sometimes, they could go offense, they could go defense, so, you know, it was, it actually made it more interesting because it made the piece of the trouble You know, the sort of, who cares about the actual game but the draft and watching your players come out, like watching, watching, Nick Mangle come out and might get drafted was kind of fun. That was fun. So- I've seen Nick Mangle get drafted. It was a lot more fun the first time. It was, I've seen that as well. So anyway, I just thought that was, it was an interesting take, but here's the thing. They're thinking about- Basically, the thing about getting rid of it, Pro Bowl altogether. I'm long for it. I think here's the problem with that. One of the measurements we make about football players is something we call a Pro Bowl player. And they say when they announce them, when they talk about them, he's a five-time Pro Bowl player. He's a three-time Pro Bowl player. It's a measurement. It's part of your sort of resume of how... It's a shitbag measurement. because there's something called All-Pro. Right. Which is better than a Pro Bowler. That is. But there's only one of every position. Well, let's have like the NBA, All-MBA, there's a first team, second team, third team. Let's just have a first team All-Pro, a second team All-Pro, and a third team All-Pro, and then you're done. Because Antonio Cromarti gets to go into a contract negotiation saying, I was a Pro Bowler. And those who watched him play say, you were one of the worst fucking corners in the league this year, my friend. and the stats back that up too. So, it's all bullshit. Really it is. It's a shitbag measurement is what it is. But it's a measurement. It's a popularity measurement is what it is. I think that's the piece they should remove from it. But how does Cromartie make the Pro Bowl? I mean really, like there wasn't one other guy that... I mean there were better corners on the Jets you could have taken If you really wanted to and it's unconferenced you could have taken anyone in the league it didn't even have to be in the AFC Could've picked anybody. No the game is unconferenced the sides are not unconferenced They still picked some they have to pick something if you when you went to vote it was still conferenced Yeah, but the sides are unconferenced so if you're replacing somebody you could replace them with anybody No I think you have to place them from the conference side. Why a man gold replaced An NFC player.
01 Jake: He did? You sure? I feel like he did. I feel like he replaced one of the Seattle linemen. Uh, I don't know about that. Because when you vote, you still vote down about conference lines. I don't think so. Well, I voted, and I know, because it was conference line voting. Anyway, do you have an unconference game that you have to vote conference because the game is just because the game is then Let me ask you a question about this stupid game since you're all for the game for the game I see let me ask you I'd like to see it to be saved. Let me ask you this so We have this game right? It's on conference. We have Let's just say for the sake of argument Geno Smith makes this game next year Okay, you know, laugh all you want. Geno makes this game next year because, because there's so many replacements that it finally gets down to Geno. Okay. Geno's playing in this game. There's like a plane crash of every quarterback in the league. And she wasn't on the plane. You get thrown off the plane. Geno makes this game. Yes. And a deserved jet, Muhammad Wilkerson, who doesn't make this game this year, right? Stupidly makes it next year. Okay. Okay. It's on conference, so they're on the opposite team Okay, okay one guy drafts mo one guy drafts mo well It's it hurt mode you know Smith is he not gonna sack him if he gets the chance Anybody just sack anybody they tap them out now scrambling is he not gonna touch him is he gonna just give him a little They're gonna do now what they do so this is a real game that you know it's not really and that's why this game shouldn't exist This is stupid. I'm not. It will do is the injuries. Arguing with the game. I'm arguing with the with the designation because it's a way of measuring a player that we say a lot of it. Well, I think that's a different designation like the NBA has like. Major League Baseball has, you know, gold glovers and silver sluggers and all that other stuff that you silver sluggers now All pro pro bowler. I mean well bow is stupid But that's the thing if you get rid of it, you're kind of killing off the history of it Cut it now before it it's good. It's dying on the vine. Anyway, it's all right. Here's another thing They've been talking about yeah, there's no extra point. I like this one Okay, talk to me about it. So this one I really like someone was actually talking to me about it in November This exact thing that Roger Goodell was saying. Okay, so tell me what it is cuz I have half of it I don't have the whole thing. So it's actually really simple and people are trying to make it really complicated But it's very simple. Okay, very good. You score a touchdown. Yes, you get seven points. Nice. I like it. No kick done That's it. Seven points. Okay. So, my first question is what happened to the two point conversion? Wait, so if you want your seven points go kick off. You're done. Now, if you want to go for an extra point which really used to be a two point conversion, but now it goes from seven to eight, if you want to get to eight,
01 Jake: you have to run a play. Same rules as now? Same rules as now. Run a play. You get a point for that play, you go to 8. If you miss it, you get penalized and you go back to 6. Just like it is now, where if you score a touchdown, you get 6. You go for 2, you get 8. It's the same exact thing. It basically, all it's doing is saying... Just get away that stupid play. The point after is automatic. It's automatic anyway, so we're just giving it to you. So it's the same exact thing. Everyone's trying to make it very complicated, but it really is very simple. A touchdown is is worth 7. If you want to get an extra one you know what you go for a know what it fucks with the most the field goal kicker Fantasy yeah, you lose your fantasy because all of a sudden go and a point right and you know that sort of change it I actually have no problem with it. My only question was that that like two point thing Yeah, the two-pointer really turns into a one point But it can swing because you can lose a point or gain a point which makes total sense because otherwise you'd always go for it Right because there's no there's no way not going for it So you have to penalize and back down to six which is fine I don't think it's and it doesn't change and I think it changed people's mentality But it does not change anything about it even change the meant it should even change it will because people will have the seventh point Up there and they'll look at it on the board and people will think Okay, am I willing to get rid of one of those points? It's a different mentality than to say I'm willing to go for... But it shouldn't. It shouldn't, but it will. If you're a simpleton, it will, but it shouldn't because the point after is really automatic anyway. There have been other things where people have said... What was the number of how automatic is? It's so automatic that I think people, maybe there's one miss a year, maybe. I mean, there's been other things where people like I've heard on some of the talk radio shows like where this topic has come up. It's like, why don't they just move it back and make it a 40 yard field goal or move it to a hash mark or to make it more difficult. Yeah, to make the point after a little more difficult and not so automatic or narrow the goalposts. It's like, how the fuck you narrowing the goalposts for a point after and not for a field goal? So, Like what now we have automated fucking yeah goalposts out there Let the other team choose which way they wanted to come in from like how narrow do you want to go? You get three degrees of narrow like so stupid I like this this proposal where it's just get rid of the kick if you want to go for two Go for it. You get your eight or you go down to six if you miss it. Well two things that I think that immediately strike me that I like about it. And it's not about, I hate to say it, it ain't about the players. It's about the time. It takes time. It's two minutes off that game. Times however many times it happens. And so like you literally, that game goes faster and not that... And think about... Hold on, hold on. I was going to pick you back on your time comment. Think about touchdowns that need reviews. Yeah, so touchdown they mentioned it gets reviewed it goes to commercial you come back you kick your extra point it goes to commercial
03 Jake: You kick off It goes to commercial so it's like three commercials in like don't say that the NFL doesn't know keep it because they'll put two more extra points, so we're gonna find out five Are only those breaks are baked ins then later on you pick it back up right, but but in that little time frame of 10 minutes of real time going by, there's been about six seconds taken off the clock. Which sucks. I think from the time aspect, I think it's good. Again, I don't want games to be two hours, but the three and a half hour, three hours and 45 minute game, especially just the way they pack them, it's just very annoying when the games are going over the other games, and that dual stuff. Plus I think that I'm hoping, I hope that we could take back some of that time and put it back into reviews. Because I think even in the playoffs now we've had two examples, right, with things can't be reviewed because it's not reviewable and it's like, it totally should be reviewable. Because it was wrong, it's the wrong call and it changed the whole entire game because someone can't review that stupid thing. Again, get rid of what you can and cannot review, give them one extra flag or... Keep them the same flags and they can review anything. It's up to them. They literally, from anything from the flip of the coin to the last second on the clock, whatever. That cheerleader got in the way. I don't care. Whatever it is you want to review, you should be able to review it. It's not going to change anything because it's the same amount of reviews, but at least you could use it for something that matters as opposed to you can't review that most important thing that we can all 100% wrong that fumble, you know the the Bowman fumble or non fumble Luckily the football gods were football gods came right back came back and played a little karma justice That's just bullshit for Bowman by the way. He's fucked He's like one of the best players in the league, but you shouldn't be able to just say that's not reviewable Everything should be reviewable. That's why they have only two of them. He literally was very clearly He pulled the ball out and was very clearly on the ground laying there with the ball in his arm. It was a butt hit and then right now it's like... And he's laying there with the busted up legs so he's like, Ow my leg! And someone's like, punched him in the leg and grabbing the ball at him. He's like, that's terrible. He's like, ow my leg! They're like, which one? My left! Well fuck you! And then they pound him in the leg, you know? You know what you should do? You should hit the table, cause that's... Don't do that. Don't do this. Stop! Oh sorry, I thought you said to do it. My god, you're super annoying today like literally one more Jets little little jet tidbit Yeah, we could talk about I think this is like so the half a jet my Cleveland Bills jet my Cleveland Browns hired Mike petton as the the final head coaching position has been filled is your now your Cleveland Browns I adopted them last year remember. I thought they'd be pretty decent You know they have like five or six Pro Bowlers. That's how valuable your Pro Bowl is for judging talent on teams and whatnot. Your Cleveland Browns, who the last five years
00 Jake: haven't won more than five games, had six Pro Bowlers on their team. So that's how accurate an assessment of how good a Pro Bowl is. I don't think it is accurate. I think the idea is- But that's how great your whole- Well, that's a way to assess a player. If they're pro bowlers. I know. That's not what I said. I said it has been used in the past as a measurement of success in the league. You talk about players and we talk about them. Very successful. How do you know they're good? How do you know he's good? Well, he's been in the pro bowl for years and a row. Well the Browns have more pro bowlers than wins. That's fine. That's great. The point is, I think the designation is important and I'd like to keep the designation. Second team all pro. But I'd like to change the way it's voted for and I think the actual game of it needs something else. Because they can't play, it's too much of a sport, they can't play for real. So it's like you might as well have them go out there and play beer pong. Third team all pro. Anyway, Mike Penn's a four-time third team All-Pro. That seems stupid. That's how other leagues do it. Just keep it. Well, other leagues are not the most important league in the year. And it works. Pro Bowl is fine. Make sure that it doesn't take away the name recognition part of it so people don't just get in because they have the name and make it into something that actually is measurable. And then give it to them. The dumbest all-star game in the universe. Well, I know. The best quarterback on the planet right now can't even play it. Alright, so Mike Patton goes to the Browns. Mike Patton's on the Browns. Yay, Mike Patton. Hey, he was defensive coordinator for the Jets for four years. Coordinator with the Bills for one year. Parlay died into a head coaching job. I'm happy. Two reasons. One, I like Mike Patton. Good for him. Give a chance. Two gets them off the bills I think you turn their defense around they had a good defense by the end of the year I don't want him coaching in our division and three Three starts the Rex Ryan Tree the Rex Ryan coaching tree. All right. There you go. There you go Rex Ryan coaching tree Alright cool, well let's talk about the games. We were games last week. Oh man, we just rambled on. Those were weird. There was one really shitbag game and then there was one really excellent game. Alright, which one do you think was shitbag? Which one do you think is that? Well the first game was shitbag, it was boring. It was like over. Brady played terrible, I loved it. He played just one of the worst games I've seen since. We've made him look that bad. Honestly, the Jets have made Brady look that bad, but I haven't seen other teams really make him look that awful. He was just off. He was when he once he missed Julian Edelman on that long pass where Edelman was like open by like 10 feet. Right. Mean you kind of knew the game was over at that point and then when they stopped handing the ball off to Blount and they just stopped running you knew the game was over Denver had it the whole way Manning played a perfect game Yeah, the weather cooperated for them like it was like 40 some odd degrees. Oh, it's like
05 Jake: 60 60. Yeah, it was what people t-shirts. No kidding. Yeah, it was warm That was the best case scenario for Denver cuz they just wanted to you know truck the ball around a little bit. And that game was boring. To me, the San Francisco Seattle game was big boy football. That they were two different games. Big boy. Or anything about the hit. Anything with the West Walker hit on? I don't think anything of it. OK, it was just a football play and a guy happened to get hurt. Right. Wasn't dirty. I don't think it was true. It wasn't intentional. I mean, it was intentional in the fact that he was intentionally trying to get in the guy's way. Right. It wasn't intentional like I'm trying to hurt you. I mean, Wes Walker is not the guy you use to hurt people. He's been concussed twice this year and he's tiny. So like you don't use the concussed guy who's smaller than everyone else on the field to hurt somebody else. Yes. Um, it just so happened that he ran into him in a weird way. Shit happens in NFL. You get hurt. Um, so I don't, I don't think Bill Belichick blew that up. That was bullshit. He's a dick. Um, everyone knows that. So, but I thought the San Francisco Seattle game was just awesome. man, Russell Wilson something he's just got something where he he can escape and make these 50 yard throws down the field and he's got an arm he's got legs. They don't stray from their game plan no matter what and it just works they got a tough ass defense that'll just beat you up. And yes, they're just they're just. Dominating while their their defenses is they're tough. They're tough dudes Like like that's what I want the Jets defense to look like like you're you're like kind of scared of them, right? Oh, I don't know if I want to play against those guys hurt They're yeah, they hurt they hit hard hit hard and there's a lot of them and they're fast Like they just keep rotating these defensive lineman Tony they have the and the the 9ers have it down and it's gonna it's gonna like for the 9ers, I think it might end like now because You have to get and the Jets have it There's this little tiny window where you can this year we can pay players to come in big money free agents Because we're starting a like not first round quarterback as a rookie, right? It's like they're they're playing this third round quarterback in his second year and he gets paid less than a million dollars a year so they can bring in like Cliff Avril and they can bring in Bennett and they can bring in all these free agent Lineman to just they've like seven defensive lineman that could all start on any team And they just rush the passer like crazy with and they have all these linebackers who can just cover so much ground and I hope Izzik builds the Jets the way that that, I-I hope Izzik
06 Jake: I mean, I thought just watching that game, you know, would... It just remind me how good I think Cowan Kaepernick and I he had problems like he threw interceptions Problems in the fourth quarter but he was good man that guy just comes out and and this is the thing I was saying you heard me saying this to someone else today I want someone to back me up on this but when I watch Peyton Manning throw the ball and and I watch someone like Cowan Kaepernick or Seattle Seahawks throw the ball. The velocity of that ball is just so different.. It's like, it's like a totally different velocity. And Kaepernick just throws it on like they call it, you know, on a rope, frozen rope. And I just don't, I just don't see Peyton doing that. Everything he does is so finesse. But that's all timing and it all can be... knocked off within two seconds if you have the time back there. The Patriots aren't known for their great pass rush, so he had time. He was sitting back there. He hasn't been touched all year. He was, well, the Chargers got to him a little bit. The Chargers, when they beat him, in the playoffs, he hasn't been touched. I'll back you up on that. So two things. One is... You know, these are younger guys, Kaepernick and Wilson. I mean, Brady still throws the ball pretty damn well as an older guy. Also, I mean, isn't Roger still old? He's getting old. But if you look at some of the like big arms, you know, Flacco's. Got a gun, right? Rogers has a cannon like these guys can really throw the ball. Manny's never been that kind of thrower. Even his ball isn't very pretty. It's not a tight, perfect spiral like so. and But Peyton is extremely accurate and has like perfect timing. Right. So he knows not when he knows when to not know when not to throw the ball. And he knows exactly when to throw the ball. So like he, he throws, he throws the ball. With such anticipation. that it's where it needs to be at the exact right time and the exact right place for the person to either catch it or nobody's catching it. Right. So there's just a difference like you're right,. He doesn't have the z- he's obviously older, he's had four neck surgeries and the the effortlessness like Kaepernick will throw the ball with it just looks so like He's jumping in the middle of the air and then he throws the air.
00 Jake: He's very good. He's excellent in the playoffs. I think he's bright future and he's going to get paid this year. And that's where the whole of the whole is apart. Yeah, he's got to get paid. So like they're going to have to make some big choices. The for the next. their team. is gonna maybe thin out a little bit I feel. Because that's it, you get that window with those quarterbacks like you know the Ravens were able to do it with Flacco. You get that window with the young quarterback before you have to pay them and then it gets really hard to win. Look at even the Patriots like they had Brady they won with him on the cheap. Then once they had to pay him it's harder to fill in team around him. Manning's only won one Super Bowl. It's hard to fill in a good team around a very one, very, very highly paid player. When Rodgers won the Super Bowl with Green Bay, he wasn't getting paid the way he's getting paid now. And now he doesn't have the team around him that he had then. So it's one of those things. Well, it's interesting you say that because last year when we were talking about the Ravens and we were talking about. and I think you would say, well, look at,. Look at who they're paying and we went and looked it up and you were right The top five top players on that team in terms of pay were like all their defensive players They're getting these huge big money and flacka was like number 10, right? So they had five guys that were huge defensive players who were playing. Hey, listen It's really you see what the Jats like it's very hard Like we're we're gonna get all this cap room because we're gonna get all his dead money off of our Like we're gonna get rid of Holmes who's not productive. We're gonna get rid of Sanchez. We're gonna get rid of Cromartie. Probably sign him back, but not at this pay rate though. And he's a in that two to three year span that you have where they're not making money. Hope they can be good. and win that way. I mean, that's how Seattle's doing it. That's how San Francisco's doing it. That's how Caroline, that's how like a lot of the teams a lot of the teams in the playoffs did it that way with cheap, inexpensive quarterbacks and teams around them. And I hope we can do the same. I mean, look at like, even in this playoff, I mean, both quarterbacks weren't. I'm going to It pays. Oh, I don't want to talk about Richard Sherman, I want to tell you Well, I really really don't care here. Don't care at all the only thing to say is that a Lick about what he said if he was on my team, I love love him for what he said
06 Jake: you know After you make such a big play and such a big game, it's almost unfair that someone comes over and sticks a mic in your face because you're gonna say something inappropriate, because you're just thinking you're in a whole different universe. Yeah, and he plays a position that is about being. He's such a diva and he's gotta be. If you're gonna be good at that position, you kinda gotta have that attitude. Well, so you can be, you can be Reavis and not be a big talker and just make your- He just wasn't a big talker. But fine. And classy and nice and whatever. But again, I don't, I don't really, I don't blame him for the on the field thing where he went a little out of line was, and I don't know, you don't know the whole thing like- the history between him and Crabtree, you know, they are division rivals. They can play each other twice a year. There's some fight in Arizona. Well, there's something in Arizona they went to. They went no, they went to a a charity thing. And apparently they tried to fight, tried to pick a fight with him. Oh, all right. So they have a little history story. Right. So. On the field with Aaron Andrews don't care. Whatever. When he was a rant. It was a rant. It was a bit of a meme-y meme not us, us, us. But he's he should have been a little more thoughtful when he went to the interview like in the in the like the after game. Shaved, showered. You're in a suit with a bow tie. You're like, you know, you're clean. Right. At that point. Like if someone asks you about it, you say, I. I said what I said, it's over. Right. We won the game. Let's move on. I made a big play. Helped us win the season. We're going to the Super Bowl. I'm really happy we're going to the Super Bowl. Instead, my whole team was like. I'm going with the he's mediocre. He's blah, blah, blah. He's going. He just drove it and drove it and drove it. And I guess he didn't have to do that. But in all honesty. I don't care. I care because it's not rude against them now so what? But it's not that it's not that it's not the football It's not the the piece of football and the piece of being in a team that I think Is fun to watch right? It's fun to watch great players great at a certain level it's not fun to watch high school quality players get up and and literally belittle other players because of a play. I think that, and again, it wasn't, I watched that one, then someone made the, should you go watch the Bart Scott one again, I went, re-baked, re-watched the Bart Scott, and his thing was a rant too. He was crazy, he was crazy at the moment, he has a Bart Scott crazy moment. He was absolutely nuts. And I watched it again, watched the whole thing, his whole Bart Scott thing, and I was like, You know, all of this stuff was about us, and he didn't believe in us. And he was pissed, he was like, you know, thanks for keeping our back, and blah, blah, blah, and no one thought we could be us. Everybody can be me. But if you saw everything he said, it was about us and the team, and we came in here and we did it,
00 Jake: and it was not single. He didn't say, you know, Tom Brady's below average. He's the most below average quarterback through us. I could pick, you know, like, he didn't make it personal. He made it about what they accomplished as a team. and I get doing it right after, but then Sherman goes in and he just, he's just an ass. Like, I'm sorry, you're just an ass and you're a childish ass because then I wouldn't watch this thing when he was on with, you know, on first take with Skip Bayless and he was tearing after Skip Bayless. He's like, you've never accomplished anything in your life. I've accomplished everything. and you have a totally unac accomplish I'm in this and I was just like You're mental.. You're in an interview with an ESPN analyst and you're going going after him. Like if you went into a child's room and he beat you in checkers and you flipped the whole board. You fucking little kid. I'm the best there ever was. I'll kill you in checkers. Like it's like, what kind of child are you? I'll kill you in checkers. Ah, it's funny. It's just at some point you have to say, so again, I don't mind,. I don't a rant. I don't mind being full of yourself. Being full of yourself also. That's great. but there's a way of being full yourself with class as a way of full yourself without class. And he went towards with us. Can't stop a nosebleed. Can't stop a nosebleed is fine. . Can't wait. Can't wait is fine. But saying you love Bart scott. you're below average here. You are below average player. And it's just I want Bart scott to be a coach for your right. All right. This is one of the next topic. We get right. Can we get Rex to hire Bart Scott as a coach? Let's move on to the next topic. You know public record it's out there. Oh, they listen to it. Go download We both predict who is gonna be in the Super Bowl right and I got a right you did Denver Seattle Very good. It was pretty good. My best one. I went back and really listen to it and the best part about it Was are you really listen to it? I really listen to it and I sent it to a was my logic like halfway decent Well, that was funny was your logic was really about how 49ers in Seattle be so good and have all this record, but then wouldn't get to the Super Bowl. Like you literally picked them to be like 12 and four and 13 and three, but then you didn't like make the math work because you're like, yeah, it's going to lose to these other two teams. So you didn't really know what their records were like these two, because you picked Houston. It's so hard to pick a Super Bowl. that the reverse is true. Like where it ends up that that team gets the first overall pick. Yeah, it's terrible. That's how good I did. So what was funny was you had all this logic about how they'd be good and whatever, but then neither one of them you picked getting back to the Super Bowl. So I think maybe it was one of those picks like you made and you didn't really think about like, oh, if these guys are 13 and three and they're gonna have home field.
00 Jake: But anyway, I thought the better than that, was when I started picking, I said, I think Seattle's gonna get home field. And that was, It was bold to pick that Seattle's gonna win out the division and get home field throughout the playoffs because you know They just don't think you were alone with that. Well, the 49ers had just been in the Super Bowl I still don't think you were alone there. I think a lot of people really like the Seahawks coming into the season I think if you looked at like Pre-season or a world of lines We're gonna have to look at the lines for like the odds for preseason odds for a Super Bowl win I'm sure the Niners had better Like we're more of a favorite than but I bet it's a lot closer than you think. Yeah, actually, you go for it anyway. So that was that I picked that the Seattle Seahawks and Denver would meet up in the Super Bowl. I did pick a winner. We're going to talk about that next week because we're going to come back and actually pick and I think I might have. I found it. What the lines? Yeah, before. Well anyway, until that point, let's talk about how you picked last week. How did you do it? I got them both wrong. You got them both wrong. So you fell even further and further away. Actually you got one right. Oh no, no, no, sorry. We both got them both wrong. No, I got them both wrong. But it looks like that the Staten Island steeps are going to be, if they want to be... And they beat Ginger because they both, because Staten Island State's got one right and Ginger got zero. So that means that it's 143 to 141 with only one game to go. So it is the winner of the Jet Kingdom Pick'Em without a doubt, no matter what he picks next week. Satin on the Stapes. So Satin on the Stapes, if you want to be in the Jet Kingdom fantasy league next year, you have a spot all carved out right for you. And if you are WTF, who never picked ever for the entire season, you're the worst. I've ever seen you in my life. Actually, there's one other person, Bear Dutch, picked one week and then gave up for the rest of the weeks. But a second graduation to Ginger for coming in. The third, the Sanchez, they're all separated by more than one. So I've got your big odds here. This is really laid out very terrible. But the Niners were five to one. Five to one, okay. Five to one. This is weird. The way that this... Is this actually like this or is this the previous year? The paths were two to one. The Giants three to one this can't be right. Yeah, this must have been 2013. You suck at this. You know what? This was 13. All right. We have one more topic discussed. We'll get off this airwaves. Are you going to listen? I'm listening. Well next week is Super Bowl week and it just happens it's gonna be here and you and I are gonna be at not one, but two, not three, but two Super Bowl events.
01 Jake: Yeah, I can't wait. So let's talk about them. I can't wait. Because I think we're probably not gonna podcast until after they're all done. Really? Or are we gonna do multiple podcasts throughout the week? Oh, yeah tough one right so anyway on Tuesday's media day and you and I are going so we got tickets So we're actually gonna be at media day. I don't think we're gonna be doing a podcast from media day But we will be at media day Sorry, sorry Broncos were so Matthew Barry of the side Broncos were the favorite at 15 to 2 okay good prediction Then the the Niners were six to one. And then the Seahawks were nine to one. In order, those were like. In nine to one. The Patriots were eight to one. The Falcons were 12 to one. Right. Texans were 18 to one. It's like in the top. Let's see. That's your 60 to one. On this one, I got that 75 to one. Oh, well, I have a ticket. I think I've. Don't it away now two different odds. There's there's post draft odds and preseason odds So post draft the jets were 75 to 1 preseason. They were 125 to 1 So the broncos were 15 to 2 post draft, but then six to one pre season the Niners were six to one pre What is the line on this game? By the way? Is there a line out over there's a line and then the line shifted Big because what it opened up It opened up with Seattle as a favorite I believe and then Like Seattle minus one I think and then it swung to like Denver minus Two or two and a half right now like a lot of money was coming in on Denver So they had to flip that to Denver being the favorite Seattle was the favorite to start the to start the whole Nonsense and well, I'm gonna be I'm totally pumped for me I feel like we should be part of the media not have tickets to media day. We are part of the media. And I'm a broadcaster, I'm going with a mic. You should just go with a mic. I'm finding Richard Sherman. I'm going with a mic. So where is media day? Where am I going? So we're ushering me away to. media day. Where are you doing? I think it's the Prudential Center in Jersey. Is that where we're going? That's where we're going. To Tuesday morning. So like, we're going to media day. So what do we have? I know we have tickets and we have a seat, right? So what are we going to be doing? Just sitting there? I don't know. Watching the interviews? I don't know. I don't know. Anyway, that's one of the activities. The second activity is in New York City. Right. And which is that the entire... Super Bowl Boulevard! Super Bowl Boulevard from Mike. And our studio is in the middle of Super Bowl Boulevard. We are broadcasting from Super Bowl Boulevard right now. That's right. They're actually using our building as a staging area. That's right, because it's... For Super Bowl Boulevard. And it's... from like 47th all the way down to 34th. All the way down there to like Macy's.
00 Jake: I have heard that there's something special at Macy's at night. So go down the end of the week, next week, at night, there's some special stuff you need to see at Macy's. But there's toboggan, slabbing, toboggan, or I. There's gonna be a field goal. Kick em thing. Thing, I gotta try that. I gotta see if I can kick an extra point. It's so automating. We're gonna do that next Friday afternoon. I know it's like before then, but before that we're gonna go to Jets house. JETS house. So Rex in the house. So if you didn't know what this- if you're not a season ticket holder or didn't get this. I guess there's still some some tickets available although I tried to get my buddy in and the tickets for that time were gone. Ah well. But there's the Jets have rented out this place called, it's down at One Pen Plaza. So it's down around by Madison Square Garden. They've rented out this place called, I'm going to show you a video where they're going to have, they sold tickets for certain time slots, day and night, so day is 9 to 3 and night is, night is 9 to 3 and night is, night is 9 to 3 and night is, night is 9 to 3 and at 11 Nick folk and Ray Mickens at 12 to opposite Clacko goes at 12 no he's at 11 no clack goes at 12 I'm pretty sure he's not anyway doesn't matter and then one o'clock in the house Covering as a nickel and chef James Brijone Cooking demonstration that absolutely nobody will be watching Because there's a meet-and-g we'd choke like oh and then at one o'clock is And rexy, yeah, that's kind of fun. That's cool. I kind of can't wait to meet Rex. So it's like we're sitting around and then he's just walking around and it's like Rex, what's up? And he comes over little, we like HUGS the handshake and like ask out, hug, do a little ask out, hug, tell him how good he looks like Don't know dude. I I know is usually all I'm gonna be all about you should be very very very thankful I am thankful that you have a friend who? Pulls the trigger on this shit cuz like three months ago when I got this or two months ago And I got these things I'm like oh shit. I really want to do this. I'm like yeah, it's like absolutely I'll just buy the tickets. Well. I just bought them the media day came out. I bought tickets
01 Jake: Five of us taking so so actually we'll be going with my daughter's Anyway, it's gonna be fun School time as a Jets fan gets out Yes, you can get a little early. Don't say that, I'm gonna do some teachers listening. They'll be like, you're pulling your kid to go sit with Rex Ryan? They'll understand, they'll actually be happy. One less student in the classroom. One less student. So anyway, that's our schedule for next week. We don't know when we're gonna podcast, but we're definitely gonna come back. We're gonna have to podcast next week so we can do a little predictions. Right, and talk about the game, which we will do. But it'll be next week. Next week. I think after media day. We should do it after media day so we can talk a little bit about that experience. Maybe from media day. Maybe we should really do one after Jet House and all that because that would be fun for people to hear. I guess they'll hear it the week after too. It could be fun. All right. And... Are you gonna do the toboggan ride? I might I might do that. I we need to find a time to go out there and hang out on Super Bowl Boulevard Wait, I told you Friday afternoon It's all been planned. Gotcha. I know your life isn't my fault. With the friend that is a giant fan? I... Does he really want to do some stuff? I know, but I can't get him into anything. Yeah, but will he come on Friday and hang out on Super Bowl Boulevard? I feel like he wants to. With the kid. Thank you. says purple
