09 Justin: The best place to be is when expectations are high. Get used to it. It's always going to be that way. Get away from me! Jake: Welcome to the Jekkynan Podcast, the longest running New York Jets podcast ever. I'm Jake and joining me from straight out of the recording studio of Eat a Bic is Justin. We just recorded our first hit song. Okay, I will tell you the winner of the any one of the leagues, either the Pick'em or the Jet Kingdom Fantasy League, can get a copy of the first cut of our hit song, Eat a Deck. Eat a Deck. By the way, this podcast is completely explicit and it's the end of a Friday. And we just, oh, we were supposed to have beers. We just opened up this, we opened up to like do this podcast. And all of a sudden it was like the whole, everything we read on the newswire was like. The world is ending. The Jets. What happened to beers? I don't know, man. We're supposed to have them for this podcast. All right. Let's get into the Jets news. I don't think the shirt I'm wearing. Oh, yes. He's wearing a near Jets shirt in honor of today being the first day of camp. I'm wearing a New York Jets shirt underneath it. It says Cosmo, Mexico. That's for my support of Mark Sanchez in this quarterback battle. Good thing we don't know anybody who works at the NFL. And maybe in like the branding department or anything like that. Not a person. Justin: Because this shirt is certainly not legal. Jake: Not at all. Justin: It can't be. Alright. Let's get into the news. Guess what just started. Jake: Training camp. Training camp. Starts today. It started today. It already is over. They practice for two hours in shells. In shells. Not pads. Up in Cortland this year again. So. Up in Cortland. Backed away from. Doing our thing. From not doing Cortland or backed away from. I, you know what? I used to like Hampstead better. No, I like the going away factor. Yeah, but I liked it when they went to Long Island. Yeah, that's like not really a way. It's like Hofstra. Okay, well I liked Hofstra. I liked it when they did there. That was good stuff. I visited. I went there a few times. I haven't gone to Cortland. I haven't gone to Cortland, but I actually was looking at the schedule. Cortland's nice. And next year I think I might go, depending on what happens with the family situation, like... If I have more free time, I might actually go up there and just drive up and spend a day or two. My sister went to school at Cortland. Okay. At SUNY Cortland. The facility is very nice. Yes. I've been there to watch the Golden Eagles of SUNY Brockport. Play against Cortland. I can't remember their name. Was there a fight song, Eat a Dick?
02 Jake: Because of what? It should have been, no. That would have been fun. They have a nice facility up there. I like it. I haven't been there for jets. thing but they had like these two fields back-to-back soccer field and the football field which I imagine is what they practice on and I like the getaway from the city. Oh, yeah. I like the dorms the knocking everybody down like worms It was watching the the the one from last year the hard knocks last year Dolphins they're putting them up in this like swanky hotel and I was like dolphins. Yeah, like that's not good You gotta be in my dorm room. You should be in a dorm room And you should have a roommate. Yes You're even have it Recording of a podcast recording of a pot. So we just had a little blip what happened there. We'll see what happens. We'll Get back to it if it stops again. I was going to say, it's a disc too slow. I was going to say, you don't even have a disc. I know I don't. Well, I do. Your dick's too slow. But you don't have a disc. Maybe it didn't like the first recording of our song. Oh, man. Eat a dick was so good. It was like, you can't record anything else. No, you can't record anything else. All right. Let's get into the news before the garage band crash again. So let's get into the news. Why don't we start with something off-agenda? Oh yeah Actually it's on our agenda. It's about the quarterback situation. Obviously biggest story in Jets camp Yep, which quarterback is gonna be the starter for the New York Jets? So today Nice start for the QBs as reported by Rich Simini of ESPN New York Jets hater Jets hater, but still, reporter, said Sanchez worked primarily with the first team, taking majority of those reps and you know, they should alternate throughout the camp, but he had a nice day completed seven of 10 passes. One of them was a drop. So yeah. 8 of 10? Really gonna go count by count? Hey, why not? Like literally, does this matter? He's only just rolling count. Smith went 4 for 7 with a sack and a fumble. So I'd say day 1 goes to Sanchez. Justin: Really? Jake: I'm going day by day with this motherfucker. This whole fucking thing is ridiculous. They did write in the same article that the defense looked very fast. Fast like a fast defense. There's some here that coples is a linebacker this year. He's like 280 pounds He's a linebacker. How's he gonna cover a tight end? Yeah It doesn't make a lot of sounds he can avoid bullets. He'll be able to cover them. Oh, yeah bad joke It was interesting because I think you started with that Although we should start with the signings because the signings are sort of pre-camps signings are are done at the bottom of our bar. Right, but they've already happened, and they get people ready. Geno Smith signed. Like, that's a big news. All the rookies signed except D. Millenor. And so everybody's there. Let's not single out, Geno. Justin: He's a rookie. You don't want to single him out? Jake: No, rookies are rookies. Is this really gonna be our season?
01 Jake: It's like, literally, it's gonna be like Geno versus Santis. It's gonna be the I Don't Want Geno show. I already don't like Geno. All right. We'll see you next week. Bye. Bye. Bye. you But you don't like it for personal reasons. I just don't like what he seems to be about. Listen, we rooted for Favre on our team. He took pictures of his ding dong. That's fine. I'm all about... Eating a dick. I'm all about sending chicks pictures of your penis. I'm all about the Mark Sanchez video dancing around with hot chicks. I'm all about that stuff. You just don't like it if you sign with... uh, unknown, whatever, or if you just don't go to Jeff's West or... No, I just didn't like the way he went about his business. I don't like the way he went about the draft and firing his agents and, you know, being a bit of a prima donna about showing up on day two, and then he ended up showing up because it wouldn't look good, and he's like already concerned about the whole image thing. Do you like the white sweater? That was all right, looked all right on him, you know? But, you know, then firing the agent and blaming them, like it's their fault that he didn't get drafted by a team. Like it's not their fault, it's your fault, dude. Like, no one wanted you in the first round, that's it. Greatest value ever. I get this guy turned out to be even a good backup, like a good backup, it's good value. Amazing with the the new rookie contract wage scale. I'm watching understand why so many guys are like I don't understand why d millner is not in camp because When we signed what's his name Richardson? Yeah, right. He didn't have the Sheldon richton the only thing that they haggle about is this offset like yeah What's big Richardson doesn't have the offset language in his contract? So if you're not going to give it to him, then just don't give it a meal. They're in slot them in there and sign them. Like what are they haggling over? I don't know. I know that we're spots away. I know that what interesting about the Gino Smith signing, although you think that's all just they're all signed, is that there was a lot of bonuses in for workouts. And it was like a lot of money. Like it was like $700,000 was built into workout bonuses, right? Showing up to all the voluntary stuff. Meaning it was less guaranteed money. on the contract. It was actually a good deal for the Jets. Well, it was a you better show up. I mean, if you show up, you're gonna have to do fine. That's why it's a good deal for the Jets. Yeah, I mean, it was, they also made a spin, which I thought was interesting, that it was actually a good deal for Gino because the money got paid. I guess, I mean, again, I don't- It's a good deal on both sides. Well, you got paid in the offseason. You get paid in the offseason. And then they can cut you, but you still earn the money. You earn the money, right. So- That's us again. It's a good deal for the Jets because it incends him to actually be there for voluntary stuff. Right. If you can get a couple hundred thousand dollars to show up for a week of practice, you're gonna show up. Yeah, 700 grand for a week to go play football, sign me up. Right. I'll do that right now. Yeah. I'll go. I'll throw the shells on. You do that. I'll tackle some people. All right. So that was kind of interesting. So... You have in here QBs. What do we think what happened? I mean, I just gave my little my one day
02 Jake: So let's get it out right you are you are a hundred percent rooting for Marc Sanchez Yeah, I want him to win the job and I want him to actually play well like it look I'm I'm I'm Rooting from the win the starting job, but I will be the first one to say if the Jets are like one and I'll be the first one to say one and three one and four said it as he walks on the field the first day No, but those are people who don't want him to start anyway I want him to start and I want him to play well But if they get off to a one in three one and four start Then maybe it's and if it's apparent that it's him right like if right, you know If he's throwing balls and Joe Schmo receiver is just hitting him in the chest and he's dropping it That's not what that's not what scientists suffers from he suffers from being that's right That's throwing the most interceptions in the league He's doing bumbles for years and he's throwing interceptions and they're one in four Make the change. Decision making. I mean, it's too bad that they... You weren't listening to me. I heard you. You said make the change. Yeah, but you weren't listening like when I said if it's like... If it's his fault and we're one and three, make the change. But if it's not his fault, if nobody's open or if guys are... If balls are hitting off guys' helmets... Well, speaking of people being open, we have one in, one out. So, Braille and Edwardes... Back with the Jets round back that makes complete sense I don't know why I like that my tweet that is saying the best part of that was There's another person to pick up in the jet Kingdom fantasy. Yeah, go for it man. You can have him He's all yours. Yeah, it's another round second round you pick him up You know, he's definitely over his prime he's on the downside but he's still useful Here's what I don't understand. Why did the headlines all say his third stint with the New York Jets? It is it is not he came in last year That would have been his second stint with and this one is his Still his second stint with the Jets. Did he go play for another team in between? No, but he was not on the team not on the roster. He was cut When was he cut he was never but he wasn't a part of he was he really ain't he was a free agent Was he a minicamp? He was a free agent. Yeah, so like For example, if, say, Brandon Moore were to come back and play with the Jets, would you say this is his second stint with the Jets? I'm just asking. All intents and purposes he was gone and then he brought him back. He never went to another team like Brandon Moore, not with the Jets right now, not at mini-camps not on their roster. But then they sign him for a one year deal. He's like, oh well, some guard pulls his dick out at camp and this is a big dick episode. Some guard, you know, breaks his... So why are you in the room? Too easy. Too easy. ...breaks his balls in some drill where they're breaking balls or something.
04 Jake: And they sign Brandon Moore. It's not his second stint with the Jets. It's an ongoing thing. Really? This is what we're talking about. I see this as his... Fine. Second, third. You see this as his third stim? Yeah, third stim. Like as if he went away? I feel like he went away. I feel like he was not part of this team and now he's back. Okay. Well, he's back and I'm actually happy to have him. We got Kellen Winslow and Braelyn Edwards. It blew shit up in 2007. I was about to say 2007. Here we come! They made Ryan Anderson look good for a season. Wow, we are really, we are at the low. We're at the low. Let's go lower. Well, but here's my problem with what's going on now. And we can talk about this. Do you have a problem with this? San Antonio home thing. I want Sanchez to succeed, but, and I think that he's got, like he's got the pieces on the coaching side. I really believe that this system is going to be better for him. I really believe that this offensive coach offensive coordinator knows what he's doing as opposed to the butt fumble asshole last year and I think there's gonna be a game plan and I Think it's gonna be it's gonna make whoever's it behind center look better than they did last year That being said the weapons man. It is just it's like slim fucking picking a bear cabinet Yeah, there is nothing there like your number one receiver Is... Oh, Stephen Hill. It's Stephen Hill. Ooh, second year guy who can't catch. Yeah, I know. And it's on the Antonio Home Soup who just came up. His legs all fucked up too. Stephen Hill, his knees all messed up. He's got a bad knee, yeah. Already we're just so behind the eight ball on offense. It's miserable Yeah, then you get the news that Holmes today is talking to her reporter and You know, he's on the pub list and they're like, oh you have a timetable for your return Says no Well, do you see yourself returning at any point this year? I'm not in a position to answer that. That's fine though, that's just, I don't know. That doesn't bother me. Well it makes me worry but I've not heard, I've not heard up until that statement. I've not heard that he won't be ready to go this season. I've heard it. Very worried. Training camp is not gonna be great and he may not be back in the first couple games. Had two surgeries, you know, last season and then another in the off season to repair the injury in the foot. his left foot. He said on Friday, today, that's today or if it was last week, that he's not aware of any athlete at his level who's had a similar injury and returned to play at the same level. So he's already like downgrading his own expectations. Jesus. Okay. But MJD's got the same injury. He was out all last year too. Yeah. Rex thinks he's coming back Rex always looks like running with the balls. So on the bright side of things he always does
04 Jake: Hey, listen, if this was a time for root for unknowns and rookies and people we can name like was the mano-mano Monogono ketchup out of balls mano-mahu Justin: Wanna who who I don't know you're talking about the guy we picked up. Oh, well, man. Yeah, he's a veteran Jake: Yeah, I'm saying like he's got step up I'm waiting for us to get our Victor Cruz like Victor Cruz came out of literally no air and just lit us up in that First preseason game. This is the chance like oh that guy can play you want gold on fine gold and then they're drafts and then they're Undraft and draft rookies. Yeah But so this is the thing that I'm worried about with Sanchez is that like sure I think he's been given this year the other side will be good and I think their defense will be good So I think we'll be back to kind of like where we were, you know, the first two years But I'm worried that just it doesn't matter how much short passes good man Really throwing to guys who know other team would make their fourth and they're your number ones We're gonna have a- We're gonna have a- We're gonna have a- He is, but aren't anybody else's team- He's a logistic- Yes he would, he's a legitimate spot receiver. I don't think he would. He's a legitimate slot receiver. And in the NFL these days that line up with the lines and no fullback, he's in most of every team's office. The tight end situation is- It's not good. I don't know why they didn't really sign Keller. That makes no sense to me. You got one year. Why couldn't we just sign him for a year for like five million bucks? Yeah. I don't know. I don't know. Because it wins so financially way more than a few years. Well, I'll tell you why. Because then I said this in many podcasts many, many times ago. This team and everything that Isaac has done up until this point, and even at this point, has nothing to do with this year. I just don't anything to do. But it was a one year deal he signed. I know. That has nothing to do with the year after. That's what I'm saying. But he signed it with another team. But that's the point. If you're saying everything that he's done has nothing to do with this year. Yeah, everything he wants to do. Well, let me rephrase. Everything he wants to do is to do with years two and three. Great. Then sign guys for one year contracts. No. That's all the guys did was sign a one year deal. But then you're just spending money on a guy you don't care about this year. That's all you're Like what are you crazy guy can't even walk I just think at this point It's like an is it you have to trust and it isn't gonna be pretty this year. It's gonna be it's gonna be tough Different opinions on the outcomes of what's well, we'll be making our predictions later and now wait 16 and 0 bitches
01 Jake: All right. Oh All right, you're saying Sanchez one Gino's zero and the cattle in the one workout of the one First day. That's I'm not there. I'm just reading what's reported. All right, so the Jets are also saying that they Are not sure when to or if they do expect my goodson back This is the one that worries me the least Yeah, cuz I think it was gonna be a crowded backfield anyway Yeah, but he was definitely gonna be an important third down Pass catching back like he's the guy who's gonna catch the ball out of the backfield But I feel like I feel like we had that guy like who I feel like we have that guy with Like like now pal doesn't come out well, pal So Joe McKnight who's on the non injured reserve because he can't pass his physical list guy Really really so that guy yeah that guy. Oh, okay that guy. Yeah, that guy's not that way. No He's not a running back. He returns kicks. That's what he does. He's good at it. Let him do that Play special teams Occasionally they throw him out there on defense cuz he's not a running back That's the way it works. We need this guy All right, well, so they're saying you won't be back. They're just because sure because of the legal situation Yes, cuz he you know got arrested for drugs and guns guns and Marijuana wasn't the first time either So He's just not at camp They knew he wasn't gonna report and they understood why he wasn't gonna be there But when you ask for specific stuff you get nothing I'm acting as like a reporter. Yeah, yeah one one it so Yeah, he's just not there. No good not good You need the guy there and then if you really want to get no good not this guy was gonna light it up Let's just depth. Well, he's the bad news bad news podcast is a cornerback Aaron Berry out for the season Yeah, we're talking like the fifth corner. He is the fifth. It's true. So you have your first not showing up Or your second well third Milner is what I'm gonna be the the starter Second so let's go ahead and the second crows the clear cut number one. Oh shit Milner is gonna start on the outside and Wilson's gonna slide back to the inside which is where he actually played a little better And I feel like with those three, you're in good shape because everyone's rolling three receivers out there anyway, right? And then you need the depth so they have Ellis Langster who's over, you know All right for number four corner you're fine there with Barry and Langster You're like, all right, there's our four and five core right and you need five really? Yeah, so we'll see what happens I'm sure they'll go try and pick up a veteran off the heap or I'm sure there's I mean, I'm sitting there in the 90-man roster that... Well, I mean, hopefully what's gonna happen and, you know, it's a little optimistic. I hope the theory this year... I mean, there's two sides to the defense, right?
02 Jake: And they played this way for years. Their corners were crap. That's not true. But they could get it. They were for you. Not true. In fact, their Super Bowl years, their corners were crap. Not a true statement. Crap. They were just good enough to hit. Well, alright. Hold on a minute. That's not a true statement at all. So... Take it from... What? A Giants fan? Someone who actually watches the Giants play. Me too. I watched them all season. Can you name their cornerbacks who stink? No. Not this point. Can you? I could last year. Okay. Well, I was talking about the Super Bowl year. All right, name them. I don't know. That's how good they are. But they were good. Corey Webster is a good cornerback. Charles Thomas was a good quarterback. Yeah. They're up there with the echelon. Anyway. They were good. Their theory was get to the passer, make the passer, make a quick decision. Now, if you're going to talk about the Giants theory on defense. Yes. Yes. then you should really talk about their real theory on defense which is they don't give a shit about their linebackers. Well, the linebackers are... That's their theory. They don't care about their linebackers. They really rush the passer with the front four. They have good corners. They vouch for a role who they paid for. Big time safety. And that's what that's the way they play defense. They try and get to the quarterback. The Jets are going to get to the quarterback in a different way. They're not going to line up for a guy and run the passer. They're going to be blitzing the fuck out of people again. This is old school Rex time. It's just blitz. And blitz. It's sending five. It's sending six from different directions, different areas. You're not going to know where they're coming from. I can't wait to watch them beat up some quarterbacks. That'll be fun. Because they got they got the horses to go get the quarterback. They really do. Yeah, and they got it's it's these big young guys. They got versatile guys. And guys who should be able to get to the quarterback. Should be able to. Like it's going to be hard to double team everybody. Pretty sad. Yeah. So anyway, there's so if we can get to the quarterback quicker than then. are having these shutdown corners that need to sit on the receivers for frickin' ever. Right. Hopefully that won't be as needed anymore. Hopefully not. They won't have to be sitting up there with 10 seconds running around like madmen. Milner Island. Milner Island. Well, I mean, so the other news is out of Buck's camp that Rivas is back to training, but he's not in full participation. He's sort of working out. Huh? It's kind of weird, you know, RG3 has been cleared for practice like. He had he had two months on RG3. Yeah. Yeah, three months, really. He got injured in like the second or third game. They're putting money into him this year and next year. We're going to give him 16 this year, 16 next year. And then after that, I don't think he's on that team, but. They're gonna take it slow. There's no reason it's not like he doesn't need to practice. He doesn't need to practice with the ones
04 Jake: He doesn't need to learn the system RG 3 and in a hand, you know He needs to learn said he's not he's actually not gonna play in a preseason Yeah, I mean if you're if you're looking at RG 3 right now, I'd be scared I'd be scared like if my quarterback wasn't gonna play all preseason and he had I did the very least want him to play a little bit like one series in the fourth game. Like against the nobodies, just play one series please. Just so I know you can move. Like you see it in practice, but like take a real hit. Let me ask you a question. What's side note? What do you think about the Matt Ryan contract? That just came out. He got, it was like $104 million, but it was $59 million. Guaranteed. He now has the highest guaranteed money. Anybody he even he even got more guaranteed money than the people we've been talking about like Joe Flacco who just signed for Aaron Rodgers And Aaron Rodgers crazy, so two guys with two Super Bowl rings. Well one each I guess a guy who's won what one playoff game his entire career crazy I mean, he's got great numbers and great regular season record. Oh, yeah and makes the playoffs and Sometimes though you're you're you got to look and say okay He's got Roddy white on one side. He's got who you're Jones on the other side He's got the greatest time to ever play and he's like ageless and Tony Gonzalez to throw the ball, too He's had Michael Turner has been a really productive running back and now he's gonna get Stephen Jack. So this guy's got the Weapons to really go like you see well. He's got a home home. He's got a dome great dome right? Wow is this guy really any good. I mean let's see last year. They won one playoff game and It was lucky that they won that game I mean he did bring them down the field right at the end of the game but like Seattle's defense lost that game right cuz They should have won that game. And then year before he got shut out, or they got shut. The offense got shut out. They scored two points safety. And in years prior to that, they didn't play very well on offense. I don't know. I don't know. That was the year that they were at home and the Packers went in. I just just screamed crushed them. So I mean, they have a good history in the regular season with him. And he has good numbers and all. But. Why does he get that money? Because in NFL you're paying for future not past. He's young, he's like 27, 28. He's young, first round pick, great, you know. He does have the great record. Just good numbers. Good numbers, solid. I mean honestly, I heard that it was a... While it's a very large contract with a lot of guaranteed money, it's actually I don't know how I don't know how this is the case. It's a very friendly contract to the Falcons, meaning it doesn't have them up like the way that it's structured. Doesn't hit the cap as bad as it.
02 Jake: Good yeah That amount of money. Yeah, I don't know. I just cored racks get paid I mean that's it, but here's the thing if you said And I think this is kind of where I was thinking about today I was like, oh, you know what seems kind of often I was like well I know I know we put fancy a lot so fantasy You know you start you try not to think about your fantasy and fantasy stats and whatever But like okay, so just throw two guys so Joe Flacco who we've really talked about is not really liking as a just you know Quarterback and then then Matt Ryan as this other guy tied at the hip. They were drafted in the same year Well, something it's a good comparison and then who would rather have in your team right now swap out Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith, you get neither one of those and you cannot have them. But you can pick from Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan right now to go on your team this year and play. Matt Ryan. Yeah, I think I would too. Here's a guy, the other side's got the Super Bowl, he's got all the playoff wins, he's got the whatever, and you're still gonna pick the guy who barely can win the playoffs. But it's like they're almost opposite. They're opposite guys, you know? It's the same thing when people are, you know... Sanchez did win four road playoff games. You know it's so funny you talk to people about that but they don't but they nobody out there. Well it's the same Flacco. Right. I mean even though you know he won the Super Bowl. But that's the thing once you get beyond it then those wins are yours. If you don't get beyond it and you go down and your play goes down your stats go down and you look worse and worse. It's the same thing. It's like oh well. You know is Mark Sanchez. better than Matt Ryan because he won four playoff games? No. Well, is Joe Flacco better than Matt Ryan because he won all these playoff games? And a Super Bowl? Kinda. Eh. But again, I think if you said, well, overall, who do you think is a better quarterback at this moment? But then if you say, who do you want on your team tomorrow? Probably want to, I probably want Matt Ryan on my team tomorrow. I feel like, and I feel like this year, I don't think Joe Faca is going to go very far. And. He's going to be exposed a little bit. Well, he's going to, he lost his best receiver. He has less weapons, although he has, he's got two. He lost his, he lost and Quam Bolden. Yep. He's got Tori Smith and... And that defense is not what it was. Nope. Got kind of pulled apart. Yep. And he's gonna have to step up and be the leader. Which is all... Like he's never had the burden of being the leader in the locker room. Ever. Because there's no disputing who is the leader of the Ravens. For a billion years. So he's never had that burden. That spotlight. He's won a Super Bowl. What's he going to do now? He's fucking ahead of he was like number four on Jaworski's top quarterback list. Like that's the fuck is he doing? I had a Drew Brees. That's a jerk off moment. What is that? It's a jerk off. So so that's a crazy sauce. There's the burden. Even when you stack the, you know, stack the rings, stack the stats,
00 Jake: stack everything, Drew Brees still comes out ahead. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. That's not even funny. It's so ridiculous. It's absurd. Um, interesting stuff. I don't know. I mean I can name 10 quarterbacks off the top of my head I'd rather have than Joe Flacco. 10? Yeah. Yeah, probably. Go ahead. Do it. Put me on the spot. Well we just said Matt Ryan so there's one. Brady. Yep. Thanks for tuning in. Yep, both man. They're manning. Yep. I think I'd rather both of them. Yep Breeze let me do this. All right, you're gonna say get the easy ones get my mojo get the easy ones out there I'm gonna screw up my mojo get the easy ones as I go through this Rogers. Okay, I think I've four more Okay, so now I got four more and now I've got to think about a little bit. I'd rather have big men So that's say, yep. And then I Mean this is weird, but I think there's five other guys and they all kind of fit into this Young guy mold one sort of lags behind the rest of the others. Any success in these guys like everybody was supposed to stop for a second Everybody you've named. Yes, everyone you've named has a Super Bowl ring or two. Yes So now I'm picking other guys who are young that I think are better than him. You're just picking them for upside? Are you picking them for proven better? I just think they're better. Oh, okay. So this is not like, oh, they're statistically better. I mean, hey, how many quarterbacks? Well, every one of those other guys I can say. Well, there you go. They won Super Bowls, but that's probably about it in the league active. So now I've got to just pick guys who I think are better than him. Right, but you just- Matt Ryan didn't win a Super Bowl. So I've already picked one. So I'm gonna go with, you know, Luck, RG3, Russ Wilson, Kaepernick, and I might even throw Cam Newton in there. That's five more. Yeah, I think that's... So now he's somewhere in the middle. I don't think that... I think that's unfair. Why? Yeah, because you're throwing in like, like, let's see Luck, RG3, Cam Newton... If you were to ask me tomorrow who I'd rather start my team with, I'm gonna pick any one of the guys I just named. end. But you actually think they're better quarterbacks. Yeah, I'd rather start my team with those guys than Joe Flacco. I don't think so. Welcome to the Jet Kingdom podcast. Welcome to the Joe Flacco. We talk a lot about Joe Flacco. Well, I think because he has that sort of. I don't know, he has this Sanchez-y-ness of him. Where he sucks in moments and then just steps up in other moments? Two years ago, he was also the guy who got into the playoffs a lot and never won the big game. And so there was a lot of comparisons like, here's this guy with his great D, okay, comparison, who gets into the playoffs, great wins in the playoffs, but doesn't win the big game. and There was a thought that, oh, we're going to see Sanchez get into the playoffs and do it, and one has gone and now done it and actually gone and not slayed, you know, gone through the whole way and won the game. And I would say beat Patriots twice in the playoffs, although they only beat them once,
03 Jake: but they should... Oh, no, they beat them twice, but they should have beat them three times because that stupid kick or whatever. Um I don't know. I don't know. I just I feel like there's a comparison. Maybe just because we talk about him a lot. Yeah, I just think that his credit he's been in the league five years and he's made the playoffs five times. He's won in a playoff game all five years and he's won a Super Bowl. So that's done a lot of winning that to me puts him above all those rookies or second year guys. But I'm just saying if I was starting a team. legitimately like, all right guys, let's all get together and start a team. Right, but that's looking future value. I'm saying let's just who's a better quarterback. No, it's not just future value. It's like for this one season, who would you rather have quarterbacking your season? But that wasn't the question. The question is who's a better quarterback. Well, it's kind of answered in the same way. No, because I'm picking upside. I'm picking upside with our G3. No, for this one season, one season. reason. Oh yeah, that's the difference. No, there's no difference. It's starting quarterbacks. Who's a better quarterback? That's right for this coming season. Yeah, because because if you were to say oh start a franchise I would I might not say Peyton Manning because he's old and he's had four neck surgeries I might say Joe Flacco, but for one season Who do I think's better if I were to have to play with one team? For one season, I'd pick all those guys I named over Joe Flacco. All right. Sorry, Joe. Um, you could be number 13. What are the j- What are the Jets' names we have? Uh, the first preseason game starts, uh, the preseason's starting, like next week with the Hall of Fame game, right? And then... Our first preseason game is two weeks from today. We're recording this on Friday, July 26th. Is that two weeks from today against the Lions? Is that a home game? Against the Lions? I'm not sure. I think I'm screwed this year with my Jets games. I don't know if this is a home game. Nope, it's away. Jets at Detroit. It's a Friday night at 7 30, which is nice. It's a nice one. The next one next week is Jacksonville at me I will not be here for Then the Giants at jet at sorry Jets at Giants is the 24th and then they follow go to that one I can't go to any of them Why can't you know this one's Phil Philadelphia at near Jets and you can't go that one because we will be in San Francisco But so we literally cannot go to any of that. You can't well, what's this we garbage? Oh, you can't you want to take us to the Jacksonville game? But you can't go to the Giants game Not gonna be in my after I talk to our Giants fans season ticket holder buddy. You don't want to go the Jacksonville one This is Saturday night. I doubt it. See, I'm a true fan. If I were here, I'd go to that game. Actually, I would have to check my calendar. I feel like... First game? Home game? Yeah, I feel like I would like to, but I feel like I'm gonna be away that weekend. Oh, no. It's the weekend before your away. No, I'm away that weekend.
01 Jake: Oh, okay. 817, I'm away. All right. Okay. Now that we've now we've discussed who's a better quarterback Joe Flacco or anybody and we've looked at our calendar Why don't we get to the meat of this podcast? Everyone's been waiting for this moment. I know they don't really want to hear us. Yeah, we're on about the Jets Or I think that's actually what they do want to hear us. Let's talk about the jet Kingdom fantasy league And This year we threw in a little wrinkle that you now have to have an active jet and an active roster, but you also must not play any player who's playing the jets that week. So in week two, if you have Tom Brady, you may not play him because he plays against the jets. So we're doing draft, we're doing ESPN. This year we're kicking it up to 12 teams, but I think it's going to make it even tougher. So it's like you got two things going for 12 teams makes you know the drafting a little bit harder and then this aspect of You know where we actually play against Joe Flacco Nothing, that was a big deal. We played against some of the best Quarterbacks like jubberries Tom Brady. So those guys take some maybe some hits in the draft What we're asking is that if you want to play against us You need to send us an email You need to send a picture of yourself, what your team name would be, what your best road jets experience, either watching or going if you went, why you should be in the league, and then you need to pick one of us, either the podcaster versus the broadcaster. Again, I am the podcaster for all those you're forgetting. I haven't been picked a lot this year, but last year I picked the time. And send that to podcast at JetKingdom.com. So podcast at JetKingdom.com. Send in an email. We try to respond to the email that we got it, but then we're going to pick them on the air. Now, we have already picked how many? We've already got six. So we're going to put three more in this time. We're going to put in three more. Leaving three more final entries. So we might do like one a week. That would be fun. We have applications, you know. Yes. We're just picking them. time. So, let's get started. I'm picking them by basically. So if you've sent us an application or an email. Don't send it again. Don't send it again. We've got it. We're talking to you Bill. And if we... Sorry Bill. And if we don't choose you, once again, sorry Bill. Doesn't mean that we're not going to choose you. Right. Doesn't mean you're not going to choose you. Just means that you're not made this cut. Yeah, I'm made this cut. So let's start. Oh, and the draft is on... you And the other thing is you better be ready for the draft. The draft is September 1st at 4 p.m. I think. Yeah, you fuckers better really be drafting. No auto-valuing.
01 Jake: Well, you'll be fucked in this one if you have auto-draft. You will be fucked if you have auto-draft. It is, I just want to say the date again. It is September 1st at 4 p.m. East Tim's that racing or Tim I should say Tim a League Listening for a long time close to two years. It's not that long in jet Kingdom history But we'll take since you out is a while Evan cheese Coming up on our what played in five fantasy leagues last year. That's too many four of them for some jelly beans I want for free one that one Good job, Tim. So you won the free one, but on the free one. His first jersey was Neil O'Donnell. So you get some credit for that. That's some good credit. Pretty cool. Neil O'Donnell. He sucked pretty hard. His first memory is Chad Pennington throwing four touchdowns against the Packers. It's pretty awesome. Oh, I was at that game. You were that was the last game of the regular season to get in Yep, and I was actually at the playoff game a week afterwards Yeah, I was at that game where we shut out Peyton Manning, which was awesome Uh, so the only thing about going to every game is you're like, yeah, I was at that game too that game But you were not at the playoff. No, I wasn't playing because my fucking friends are idiots. I didn't hear dumb ass. I'll even plug his blog. He writes a little blog with his buddies. It's called Chad Pennington's shoulder dot blog spot dot com. So head over there to read about the chat. This is what. So if you're starting a blog post or blog, whatever. Don't make it to. To chat Bennington Shoulders pretty awesome. I know but it's like great name There are certain people that won't even remember that at some point the way you talk about kissing Susan Colbert is like one of those ones great one. I know but whatever anyway have you little more historical or a name? He said it'd be something obnoxious like Chad Pennington show. Well, that's it. No, I'm saying that's what it is Yeah, I think that's gotta be I'm not even that's it. All right. I said it so Tacks for picture of himself and a couple of which ones he He's on the far left far Left Sanchez Jersey. Oh, okay. All right young and and after wearing the Sanchez Captain's Jersey definitely young and he said his first Like memories Chad Pennington throwing four touchdowns against the Packers if you think about first memory of yo Yeah, you're young and but he had a Neil O'Donnell Jersey, which means Someone must have bought him one as a kid and you're picking him because he I'm picking him cuz he after much internal debate He says although I don't believe that he's going with the broadcaster. Yeah, so Well, welcome to Lee Timothy Tim and I will crush you so Pick the broadcaster this year. It's not all right. Who's next? I don't know you tell me I'm reading the emails Jesse. Yes. Jesse Spivak.
00 Jake: Jesse Spivak. Sorry if I killed your name there. Jesse sends a great picture. It's Jesse and Joe Nameth. That's pretty good. That's pretty cool. And he even put in a little caption that says, I want to kiss you. Which kind of just says he's in. He's gonna be his team name, Cro-Marty Gra. Good one. Pretty awesome. Good one. Uh, you talked about a road experience. By the way, I love it. It's, it's like, it's like written up like a resume. It is like a resume. It's, it's got paragraphs and all sorts of stuff. Good job. Um, so let's see. He's talking about his best road experience. It was December 18th, 2011. When we went to the Eagles. I remember this game. We were eight and five, I think, at the time. I'm not sure if he mentions that at all, but we were coming off that three game winning streak. And I think we crushed the Chiefs like the week before or something like that. I can't remember 100 percent. Oh, 2011. Yeah. But then but then like we were like making a little push to get into the playoffs and then the Philly game came up. And they crushed us and then we played the Giants and they just ended our season. Oh, I do remember this game. Just a bad. And he was a San Antonio Holmes because he was like, you know, doing his stupid bullshit, even though we were getting our ass kicked, you know, dropping the ball, scoring touchdowns, doing jet flying dances. So yeah, I remember that game. That sucks. Shitty, uh, shitty. Yeah, that game. Thanks for bringing that one back to my memory. So he should be in the league. Um, let's see. Why should he be in the league? Oh, he listens to us while he runs. That's kind of cool. He's run 146 miles this month. About 2,000 miles later he has not missed a podcast once. Well, keep running. Run. Run. I mean, this is a PDF, by the way, that he sent us. He started listening in 2008 when Rex Ryan took over and he just listened to usBwhile he runs. So I'm hoping that you're hearing this while you're running around here in New York. Watch out. Um, you know, he was actually in the league last year. He said his He admits his performance was mediocre at best, but he was active all season which we like by the way You know act all season a you're not getting in the next season and be your I don't know I'm gonna make fun of you on the podcast. Yep, and he was the Self-proclaimed asshole who drafted the Jets defense in the first round nice So that's what it gets it's a technique and then something will do it this year and then to hand her to you a little bit podcaster versus broadcaster He said podcaster beats broadcaster nine times out of ten But he doesn't like playing favorite. It I about the duo basically picked nine times that I'll give you that alright he picked me he picked me he picked me he picked me he picked me pick me pick me
01 Jake: I'm gonna go ahead and say this was the best email we've got. Now you're gonna read this whole fucking thing. I was thinking about reading the whole thing because it's that. It is so funny. It's really funny. So in case humor works. It really does. So I'm gonna actually not say his name. I'm just gonna start reading it because he says his name somewhere in the middle of the So you're just gonna read it. Just read it. Go ahead. Hey guys. So here's why you should include me in the fantasy league. Still thinking. Thank you for watching! Oh shit, what was the questions you wanted answered? I should have wrote them down. Crap, give me a minute, it'll come to me. Oh yes, that's right, favorite road game. Well, I'll start by saying I've never been to a road game so it'll be hard for me to pick one. Now before you start judging me, I stay in Scotland so it's not like I'm local. Not only the I get to suffer the same as you guys, but I get to do it at the most a godly hour imaginable while sitting on my own in the house. Joy. Shit, I never told you my name. But I figure if I use his name it'll win me some goodwill with the broadcaster. It did. And I'll pick the podcaster as my favorite of the two of you because he spends less time wanking about the Sanjays. Don't get me wrong, I want him to come good. Although judge in my dance video he comes good and plenty. But there comes a point when you have to call shit shit. And give up hope that it might yet sprout wings and become a butterfly. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I stay in Scotland. I don't have any Jets friends to turn me around. The only folk I know into American football here are the Patriots or Dolphins fans. That sucks. It's painful trying to defend number six anymore. Fuckity fuckwits. I love this. That's the best part. I love this. I never did answer that question on road games. I'll just count... Ask the ones I've watched and pretend I was at all of them. I guess watching New England win in 2010 was the best, although the Steelers game the month previous was outstanding too, particularly as it then got a completely random mention on Radio Scotland the next morning. The Sanchez play-action touchdown on the fourth and one was just dot dot dot. I agree, that was a very good road game that Doesn't often get mentioned. Yeah, we're Steelers game Those were the days. I've been a Jets fan since 2001 Although it's much tougher to follow back then usually radio feeds on nfl.com was the best bet Although we got a little finale to the 2 season live which was social. Social? Fuck. Bloody predictive text that should have been special. I love this. I really should use my computer for this, but it's all the way downstairs. Ark nearly done. Might as well continue. I'm usually grateful for the podcast guys. There are godsend for someone this side of the pond.
00 Jake: I've been listening for years. I remember when it was all planned for podcast 100 to be the Super Bowl edition. Only for you to fuck it up by starting action and doing podcasts And the Jets to fuck it up by not getting there I say much more about the Jets than us All about them, not us, we didn't fuck anything up Keep up the good work Tambo PS You guys want a photo of me in Jets? I don't think I have one although I do have a Jets helmet on my desk in work He's a teacher Which I think is a bold statement Or it would be if any peoples knew what it was So just accept that I'm looking in the sky and just awesomely cool sent from Samsung Galaxy Note. Really? Do you just, you read the sent from at the end of that? Well, because he did mention- You are a fuckity fuck way. He did say social fuck bloody predicted texts. I wanted to like- Okay, you're a fuckity fuck way. Anyway, Mike or Tambo, however you want to be called. Great email. the ball being thrown. I want to see some tackling. Yeah, but I don't think tackling is allowed Well, we'll see we have all the preseason games which we can talk about when they happen So yeah, but I think we should hop back on maybe right before the first preseason game That's in two weeks in two. All right, we'll call back and we'll select maybe one one more Maybe two maybe two and leave one open open for suspense. I don't know and quite a bit.
