09 Jake: The best place to be is when expectations are high. Get used to It's always going to be that way. Get away! Justin: Welcome to Jig Kingdom Path. The longest morning here chess podcast ever. Can you read? No, I can, but I'm getting a little dry mouthed. Cotton mouth. I'm gonna take a sip of my nitro pour. What the fuck was this? It's a sawtooth ale from Denver Jake: because in commemoration of Denver being in Super Bowl, we have beer from Denver in our fridge. Nice, nice. Justin: Yeah, whatever. My name, Jake. And joining me for the 200 and fuck nose time, 209th time, is Justin. That's two swears in the first two minutes. That's a record. Jake: It's about one minute. You got more time to get into the 200 minutes. Justin: you- just about - the-to a. New York is it's the spot. It's the place to be right now. It was so we have plenty of new Super Bowl stories We went to media day. We really sure did we Jake: represented as media could we sad no we didn't we sat there with other people and Just I thought that was interesting Justin: I didn't make I didn't know how they were gonna do that talk about the Jets house, which we're going to tomorrow tomorrow So we can talk about next week, right? And then we have Super Bowl Boulevard, which we haven't gone, I haven't gone to yet. Have you gone to it? Jake: I haven't like I have because our office building is in it. So you walk outside your on Super Bowl Boulevard. So yes in that respect yes, but no I didn't get my pass yet to walk through it. I. I have... H We're gonna get a pass to walk through it and I'm gonna go on that toboggan ride that's right outside our door which is awesome looking Justin: So next week when we get back and talk about the Super Bowl we will talk about Jets House I've got special shit I'm doing on Saturday I've got special shit I'm doing on Sunday You're just gonna brag I'm just gonna brag Jake: Have you been to the office? Have you gone out the Broadway side? I mean the NFL Network is on one block and the toboggan rides on the other block right outside our office the NFL Network built a studio the size of the city block. It's just right in the middle of the block. It's enormous. It's the NFL network. You're just looking up, you're like, oh my God, look at that. So we'll talk about all that. But let's kick, let's start by talking about... Yeah, we went, we went to New York... Justin: Yeah, so let's first talk, we went to New Jersey.
01 Justin: Let's first talk about the New York, New Jersey, like, hate getting their nose out Yeah, right. Hello, Javits Center, but they decided to say hello garden right hello anywhere Jake: So we went we did we trek down there. We took the train wasn't too bad all dressed up Justin: I throw on some Jets gear I did not which was apparently the right thing to do because everybody was dressed in their people were dressed in redskins gear People were wearing cowboys garbage, people were Jake: New Jersey Philly, Philly's not that far. That seemed like a little odd. Justin: It was weird. I saw a I saw it a little further down the coast. Not that much. Jake: Well I mean I saw like a dude who's around a cow, a sure-taking with the Eagles cheerleaders. I'm like what are you doing? Justin: Yeah. What's the point of that? So the fight crew was there, they did a little number and they were walking in our section. So let me just describe. So if you saw us on TV It was literally in the Prudential Center. It's a zoo. And it's, so everybody at the bottom is in sort of on the field, as it were. It's all set up with all these boos, and there's five main boos in the middle. Or six main boos in the middle. Yeah. They gave you this, They look like kiosks. They gave you this little swag bag. Yeah. Where in it, a bunch of also, there's all the sponsorships. Everything. Snacks. Snacks. Jake: Drinks. Yep. Deodorant from Gillette. Thank you Gillette. Justin: Um, and then they give you a little radio that you could tune into anyone who is speaking or the six channels on the radio. Which also turns into, if you hold down, turns into a real FM radio, which is nice. Oh, I gave mine away. I have it downstairs. You can keep it. Um, and... and... So, and then you could listen, so you're kind of watching them, they're up on the screen and they're up on this major screen behind you and then they're just turning to people. And you could always tell who was at what booth, not only because I told you, but by the amount of people around the booth. So like Peyton Manning was... Jake: The Peyton Manning and John Fox booths were crowded. Justin: And they stayed the entire time versus the other ones they'd swap out. Well they all stayed in those big booths only Jake: No, they all stayed in those big booths because then they were going to like this guy's in booth 7 and you didn't really know Where that was it was kind of lining the outer edge. No, but the one like Damaris Thomas didn't move
03 Jake: Yeah, he did. No he didn't he was there the whole time. No, because Decker went in there. No Decker was at booth 7 No, I'm telling you you're wrong I watched it. They had other booths that weren't centrally located that were in the back. Justin: I understand, but those guys swapped out. So the main three guys stayed, but the two on the end swapped because what's his face left? So Champ Bailey, Fox, and Peyton Manning were there the entire time. Jake: Phil and Wes Welkerton moved. Justin: He did. He didn't move, he just got up and stopped and then someone else went in his place. Jake: I don't feel like he did. But that's all right, whatever. It really doesn't matter, it was cool. I left after Denver. You stayed for Seattle, right? Justin: I stayed for like 30 minutes of Seattle because we had to get back. Pretty monotonous. They're asking the same stupid questions. Yes, and it was more of just to be there and to have the fun and to say I went to media day. That's why. In seats. So you're kind of like you're sitting in a seat at a hockey game at a hockey game with tons of people down there But it was fun. It was fun. It was definitely I didn't warn anything Jake: No, I no one's no one's saying anything spectacular and the odds of you catching it is also rough because You can only listen to one person at a time unless you listen to the nfl networks feed which was also available and I feel like That's probably the feed that I should have been listening to. But they would go home. But they would just bow... Well, that's what I felt like. I felt like I was at home. I was watching on a TV screen and I was listening to one person. Okay, fine. But what what K I missed like a really... Something good that someone else said. Like that's why I feel like I should have been listening to the NFL network feed. But whatever. Justin: Yeah, it was more just for the experience. Jake: Yeah, that was the experience. It was fun. So that was me these days. So we're going to experience Jets House in Super Bowl Boulevard. To know. Justin: Did you explain to me what Jets House is? Since you know all. Jake: So I really don't know all about it. All I know is that we're going to a restaurant slash bar that the Jets have leased or rented out or taken over for the week. See you next week. branded at Jets house and have a lunch or evening a Midday session for lunch and an evening session for dinner. They would day session such a day. Oh, wow There's a nine. We can get there at nine. We get there. We're not getting there at night. You just did it So I'm assuming we're getting a lab assuming. We're eating lunch. I assume we can be fed there Like that's part of it And now you're assuming why don't you just let me tell you why don't you tell me am I gonna eat lunch tomorrow? I don't know. Oh, you might so what's the point of you telling me? You don't know a bag of dicks. I'm just saying um Justin: I'm swearing a lot today drinks So here's what I know. We know that there's gonna be people there. We said that last week, right? There's there's so this is the thing they said and I I I applaud the jets I just just a side note because this is a jets podcast talking about the jets
01 Justin: I got a survey from them today. They send a survey all the time. And I was like, you know what? I really like the way they handled the Super Bowl, their communication, you know, sending us all the stuff I was able to get into was because of them. They sent the stuff about the media. They sent the stuff about Jet House. And when I got it, I was thinking, oh, you know, I guess. And you know, it felt so far away. day. But after I've done it and purchased my tickets for Jets House and purchased my tickets for Media Day, I'm like, I'm so glad that they did because I never would have done it. And you know, the Jets were kind of like, hey, you can purchase tickets. And the Jets House, they had a lower cost for season ticket holders, like half off. And I went back the other day to try to find a ticket for a buddy to go on and it was sold out. She's like, you know what? Thank you for doing this. It's kind of cool. And it's, you know... Again, we're not in the Super Bowl, but it's kind of nice that the Jets are kind of being in the Super Bowl. So much so that the Giants, who didn't have this, went and built one like last minute. Wow. So they kind of saw that other people were doing it. So the NFL has an NFL house where you can go and hang out. Yeah, my wife went to it last night. Okay. Jake: Oh, I saw some pictures. Justin: To test it. There's the Jets house, now there's a Giants house. They did a last minute. They did. Jake: Oh, anyway, we're gonna go tomorrow. We're gonna check it out. So let me tell you what it is. So you got these two sessions. Yeah, so I've been asking you questions and you're not answering them. Justin: Shut the fuck up. Answer the goddamn questions. Shut the fuck up. So there's two sessions. There's the nine to three and six to whatever, midnight. Every day. Bye! and you can purchase for day or night. Now we got the day sessions for two reasons. One, I'm cheap. Two, I want to bring my daughter, who's not gonna be going to a seven o'clock, eight o'clock night, right? She's young, so, and I didn't want to be out there, right? And then I figured, I'll get the Friday, the Friday before Super Bowl, the time. Oh, and yeah. And then we're gonna hang out on Super Bowl Boulevard afterwards. So here's what it is. It's supposed to be complimentary food and beverage. Beautiful. ... Brevridges. Excellent. And then they're gonna bring in people. Ex- football stars. They're gonna do wine tastings. They're gonna do cooking lessons. Jake: Chef display, whatever. Yeah. All we care about is Joe Kleckler's gonna be there. Rex Ryan's gonna be there. Nick Folk! I'm actually more excited to meet Nick Folk. Folk hero? Justin: Folk hero! For this season, who do you wanna meet? Jake: Rex Ryan. Justin: No. Jake: Yes. Justin: I like Rex. Jake: Who's gonna be a more entertaining person to talk to? Rex Ryan. Not me. Justin: But in that, I have no fucking people to say hi to. I will go. Aren't we going to? I'm going right up to Rex. Is it gonna be 300 people? I'm giving Rex a hug. I'm walking right over and saying Rex, can I have a hug? Jake: All right. How jetsy are you gonna dress up tomorrow? Well, I'm gonna wear my Jets winter jacket instead of my regular coat. That's probably a coat jacket. And then I'll probably wear...well, for walking around Super Bowl Boulevard. ? Yeah. But and I, I'll probably wear a Jets winter hat. That's a good point. I should probably wear. Gloves. And I'll probably the probably wear a Kletko jersey because he'll be there. Yeah, that's true.
00 Jake: And if he signs it, great. Right. And if he doesn't, I don't care. Whatever. Like, I'm not going to ask. You're going to show him that it's like, Oh, no. I'm not going to be like, here's my China. China doll. China Jersey from China. China Jersey. But if he's signing shit, I'll have him sign my jersey. Justin: So anyway, we're going tomorrow. I'm extremely excited. Again, and you know, I know that Jess make lots of fucking stupid mistakes. And sometimes, as Jess makes. Jake: They make the stupid mistakes in the wrong places. Justin: Like, I feel like sometimes we. We... Shit all over them as fans You're not you're not you're a broadcast. Well, I'm allowed I'm Jake: literally allowed to shit on them because I I know your broadcaster I I'm paid for my opinions. You're you are so not paid. I'm so paid you're so not paid for this Justin: You're well, you're not getting paid. I'll get paid. Okay But anyway, I just I just want to throw it out. How about we talk about the game? Well, no, because then then there's other things going on. Um... Oh, let's talk about that afterwards. Okay, let's talk about the game. Jake: How about the game? Let's talk about the game. Alright, so you, sir, predicted this game would happen before the season even started. I did not. So why don't I go first? Justin: Give my rationale sure my pick. I mean I can't back off my prediction at this point cuz no you can't you know Strah, no Strah jacis. You've gone this far you you can't step out of it now. So I have Jake: I'm gonna give my pick first and then I'll give my rationale So I have picked Denver to win the Super Bowl Wow, here's my reason okay Waiting I Do that. I look back. Well, that is I'm giving my analysis now. I I thought about Super Bowls seven years you still suck in the in the Like history of Super Bowls. Yes, and I've thought to myself and said self What kind of what kind of quarterback wins a Super Bowl? Yep. And I said, Oh, you know what kind of quarterback wins a Super Bowl? A classic traditional quarterback wins Super Bowls, whether they're good or bad or indifferent. Small mobile running quarterbacks have yet to have yet. Steve Young wasn't little. Steve Young was was like a normal quarterback who could run. Drew Brees was a traditional quarterback. He was very mobile and small. No Drew Brees doesn't run for more than 10 yards a game at the very most. He's not moving. He's not running. He's moving in the pocket. Like I don't think of Russell Wilson as a traditional quarterback. I feel like he will be. Justin: I think he's much more traditional than you think he is. Jake: I think he's still a like. runner and a still like I'd still think of him as like read options still part of their game and his Mobility is still a big part of why he wins and I don't think of him as a traditional quarterback yet
02 Jake: I think he has a very good chance to be a very good one I just don't think he's there yet, and that's why I'm picking Denver for the most part. I also feel like they have the most More veterans who've played in the game before, coaching before. How many has Seattle? Zero. Justin: Yeah, that's not a lot. That's not a lot. Jake: If your quarterback's played in two and the other team has zero players who've ever played in it, then you're already way ahead. You're way ahead. They also have a coach who's head coach. has coached in the Super Bowl, and as an assistant has coached in the Super Bowl. Defensive coordinator who's coached and won a Super Bowl, their coaching staff just has done this more. Like, I feel like they're just a little bit ahead of Seattle. I feel like if they played... This wasn't the Super Bowl and they were just playing a game in the Met, in MetLife Stadium. I feel like Seattle is a better team and will win the game. I feel like the Super Bowl will be won by Denver. So I have a question for you. Yeah. Since you're the broadcaster. Justin: I'm the broadcaster. And you're paid to do this. I am paid to do this. I'd love to see the checks. Jake: I also, I also think the weather played a little bit into why I'm choosing this. Yeah, and that's what I'm wondering because you've said all along. In fact, I've predicted. I've read that the weather didn't turn out to be the way that it was supposed to be. Justin: It's gonna be fucking cold. As someone who's going to the game, it's gonna be a high, for the day, it's gonna be a high of 44. Right. By the time that game starts, we're in the 20s. Okay, is it gonna be really, really windy? It's the MetLife stadium. You've been to that stadium a few times. We'll see. I mean that could have an impact on the game. But I don't, it's not gonna be like... He can't win the cold weather is what you said. In the AFC Championship game in Denver. It was 60. Exactly. So then why is he gonna win this time? I just feel like for all the reasons I just laid out, that day will win. Jake: I didn't change anything, I just gave you the reasons why I think they will win the Super Bowl. So why are the Falcons going to beat Houston in the Super Bowl? Listen, I would have picked Houston. Justin: You're so terrible. It's awesome. It wasn't a bad pick when the season started. Jake: Anyway, I have Denver winning. Justin: No, now it's a bad pick. Jake: I have Denver winning. Justin: Okay, what's the score? 2120 was the MVP because he probably picked it I'm paying man or something or paint man Jake: Whoever wins their quarter. It's not true. If Denver games if Denver wins Peyton Never to win P-Maze MVP it's like he could do nothing and he's the MVP doesn't matter. Yeah, and he's had this season That's been like, it just needs to be capped off and I feel like it will. Justin: Okay, so now let's do the counter argument, because I'm not picking Denver. Oh, you're picking Seattle. Well, I'm picking Seattle because in September 3rd, 2013... You picked Seattle.
00 Justin: I picked Seattle to win, 30 to 27, and Wilson to be the MVP. So, good pick! I can't not pick at that point. I'm stuck to my pick. You're stuck. But I will say, here's my logic. Even now, I think it's a better thing. I agree with everything you've said, but Peyton Manning has also shown that he is not the terminal, he is not the end all be all win every game. There have also been, when there's been this high powered offense against a high powered defense, the defense almost always wins the Super Bowl. Jake: The NFL is very different than it was even three years ago. I'm just saying. As far as defenses being able to... beat offenses. It's designed for offense to beat defense now. Justin: I think if you look at the, if you look at the teams, I agree. The thing that puts the Seattle down is their experience. But if you take that away because it's a game and they're going to play the game, Seattle is a better team. They don't have as good of offense, but they have a shit ton better defense. and that can that can skew it. They can still ball. I mean they can run the ball. Jake: The Broncos don't have a good D. But the Broncos run defense is actually pretty good. Like San Diego, they were going in there to play Denver with the game plan of we're gonna run the ball and they did nothing. And then the Pats who were running the ball as good as anybody was Justin: running the ball. They gave up very quickly in that game. They keep up running the ball very quickly. Yeah, because they couldn't. But then Tom Brady couldn't throw. Jake: But they couldn't run. But if your quarterback can't throw, wouldn't you at least try to run? Well, they tried, but they couldn't. Denver's run defense is actually halfway decent. It's in the top 10 of the league. Now, we know how that works. If your run defense is really good, it's likely because one of two reasons. Either your past defense sucks or you're always winning games by 21 points. They probably have both of those things. Justin: Right. So I guess, you know, I think there is the Peyton Manning cold weather piece. I don't think that's going to be a huge factor in this game. Um, it's going to be cold. It's going to be in the 20s and it's, and I'm preparing for it. I bought more. fucking cold weather gear. I like so we go to cold games and I've been to some of the cold I've been to games where it's been two degrees like to start the game. Yeah tailgating for seven hours out Jake: or three hours. Cincinnati game was very cold. Pittsburgh, New England. New England up in New England was very cold. Justin: This isn't gonna be that bad. But I'm, I, somehow I'm preparing for, cause I think the game's gonna be longer, which you might have, right? Jake: You're outside for at least five hours. Justin: But, anyway, I'm preparing more for this game than I ever have. I've gone and re-bought, like, the gear. Like, I have a new set of, like, high-end gear. I went to the internet. You're gonna be all set for next year. Oh, I'm all set. But here's my thing. Thanks for watching, and I'll see you next week. So I think what Seattle is going to be able to do, I think they will be able to control the clock, run the ball, and score enough.
03 Justin: And I don't think that Denver is going to be able to keep up. I've watched games this year when they play like the Jaguars and they just couldn't score. They couldn't go down the field. I feel like this team with the best defense in the NFL with a hard-hitting whatever, with a secondary that is going to be all over those receivers. And one thing that Peyton Manning can't do, he can't just, you know, wing it down the field. He has to be about, when we talked about this, he has to be about finesse and timing. They're gonna blow the fuck up their timing. They're not gonna let that guy have five seconds to throw a ball. I could literally, if you said over, under on picks, two and a half, I'd take the over. ... for Peyton Manning. I'll take that back right now. All right, let's do it. We just did it. All right, we just did it. I'm saying over. I'll take the end there. Put it on the window. I feel like they're just gonna be all over him and at the end they're gonna, he's gonna be trying to throw it at his. So again, as a Jets fan though, I was talking to my daughter, eight-year-old daughter about it, she's like, who do you want? And she's, she likes to know she's getting into the Super Bowl. She knows like who's there and whatever. She said, who do you want? to win. I said, well, as a Jets fan, I want Peyton Manning to win. Why? Am I retiring? I don't know. Yes! Yes! Because we play him next year! Because I wanted him to retire! He's not going to retire. But even if they win that team, we all know, the year after, the team kind of takes a little smite because everybody takes it off and they go away and whatever. It almost happens every team wins a Super Bowl. So as a... Are they coming? They're coming to us. Yes. So then you don't want him to win because you want to see him play. Oh I do, well I don't care for that. I want to see him play anyway. I want to see some player who's not Peyton Manning play against us in Denver or here. That's fine. That would be nice. Jake: You know what, whatever. Ruxarion Defense beats Peyton Manning all the time. We've beaten Peyton Manning many times. So that's fine by me, whatever. Justin: And I think as a, again, as just a fan of football, it would be nice to cap off. I do like him as a human, like as a player on the field, and so, or, you know, in the game. And so I'd love to see him win, get number two, match his brother, take a season that he broke Tom Brady's record and and then went all the way and won the Super Bowl which you know when Brady was great and set his record he by the way he lost that Super Bowl that year. That's the other thing, is that these people with the greatest seasons ever, they don't do well in the Super Bowl. They don't win the Super Bowl. So that's even another stat against Manning. I don't know if that's true, but... Okay. But Manning, I would love him to win. I do feel like, though, that Seattle has just got that grit. They just got that grit, and I don't think that... that defense is going to let them let him do what he does. And I don't think that Peyton Manning is set to play that hard nose of a defense. I think like in this like in the playoffs they're going to let a lot of stuff slide. And so they're going to be all over those receivers. I just don't see him being able to pass the ball. Now, couldn't they
00 Justin: I don't think so. They got great safeties. I just don't see it. So I'm predicting, as I said before, Seattle 30, which is actually kind of high, although I put this in September, Seattle 30, Denver 27. Jake: All righty, there it is. Justin: MVP. Plus, there's also the Jets thing of like, hey, Special events that I'm attending on Saturday Saturday and Sunday which should be And I can't wait. Oh, I can't wait to talk about it. Can't wait to hear about it. I can't wait to Twitter it Can't wait to do it. I can't wait to not doing it Let's just say Anyway, so I'll talk about all that. We'll talk about Super Bowl, World Cup. And then shit, man, so we gotta get into our draft mode. It's time to start talking draft. Not yet. Yeah, it is. Let me rest. It's ready. I need a break. So, all right, we will be back next week. As always, going forward forever, even though someone apparently is listening to us and says this at the end of their podcasts, we will continue to say it.
