02 Jake: This is episode 51 of the Jet Kingdom Podcast for Thursday, October 1st, 2009. The Big Easy. Justin: of the women. Jake: Welcome to the Jet Kingdom Podcast. As always on this side of the 3-0 aisle, it's Jake and joining me on the other side of the undefeated aisle is my good buddy Justin. Hey Justin, how you doing? I'm doing just fine, thank you. Jake, you look a little stunned. Uh, yeah, just the renaming of the Digital Isle every week just throws me off a little bit, you know? It's the first place Digital Isle, it's 3-0 undefeated Digital Isle, it's always a different flavor of the Digital Isle, it throws me off, so... I'm good, I'm doing good, thank you, thank you, thank you, 3-0 feels very, very good, I was actually at... this one uh... which is awesome thank you as a review uh... had a great time uh... three no baby feels good yes let's talk about the game this is a you know the third game at the vaulted titans which were own to coming to this game kinda desperation I think we both were worried about a desperate tightens team who had been thirteen three last season uh... you know and and to be some just to some degree we were looking for a letdown right this is the part of being jets and is knowing that something will eventually happen to crush your your hopes and dreams extra small small little bucket and then have someone take that bucket and crush it further uh... so but it was you know i mean i win a win is a win but uh... tell me what's about the game and and what's stuck out to you well you know. The game itself was kind of a weird game. We got off to quite the start. 14-0 in the first, what, six, ten minutes maybe of the game. I think it was six minutes to go in the first quarter and we were up 14-0 and everything was looking great. The offense looked great. great on the first drive. They got the ball first. They came out in a real interesting look that they didn't go back to, which was interesting. They came out in a no huddle, kind of two-minute offense, and really got into a groove and went right down the field, no issue. And then they didn't do it the rest of the game, which was kind of weird. guess we could talk about that a little later. But overall, you know, they showed me something that they hadn't shown yet this year, which was rookie quarterback struggling, having
07 Jake: to play a kind of a field position, we're going to have to beat you with our special teams in defense and they did. You know they got a couple big turnovers on special teams which really turned the game and gave them short fields to work with which is kind of the key to success when you have a really solid defense and a young rookie quarterback. Short fields on offense and you know turn them over more than we turn it over which is you know another good key to success and I thought that that they did a really great job on you know on on keeping that Tennessee running game in check I know it sort of when you look at the stats it looks like oh he ran Chris Johnson think his name is he ran for 97 some odd yards and he's a really really good player fast as all hell and we sort of let up a little bit in the second half and I want to say almost let them run the ball a little bit And and we did what we had to do so a really good win the fans were in in Out in full force even though the weather kind of sucked and You know three, you know great victory Yeah, I mean I there's it obviously it obviously a great victory any victories a great victory I you know a couple I agree with you know They started off in the hurry up offense to bring it out, and I think that was in direct, you know, just a position of last week's game or the week before his game against Patriots where the offense came out was a little bit, you know, not getting it together. So thanks shoddy and the coaching staff said, Hey, let's come out. Let's do let's do the hurry up. Let's get people really going. you know to get the touchdown. They kick it off. Then the guy muffs the punt. We get it back at like the 20 score again. In fact, they hadn't had an offensive play, and we were already at 14-0. Which at that point, you're looking at this going like, all right, well, let's pack up the cooler and let's go back to the parking lot. I mean, not that we would ever leave. But you're thinking, jeez, 14-0, we got to pretty much shut down defense. Man, they're out of this, right? It's going to be great. We'll let them score a field goal, we'll score another field goal or touchdown, and we're just going to keep pounding them. The hard part was they came back and they scored 17 unentered points. That's not good. Yes, we have a great defense. They came back and scored 17 unentered points. Um. Which is all they scored and then of course, you know, we were able to score another touchdown another field goal to finish the game but yeah, I mean that it was it was sort of this sort of ups and downs I think it's I Think this is where we're starting to see the The rookie isms of of of not only marks inches, but just the the offense, you know, it's not a consistent offense No, I think we have a very consistent defense
02 Jake: They seem to consistently be able to stop people when they need to stop. In fact, at the end of the game when they needed to stop them multiple times, they did. But the offense is not consistent. You know what? Moments of brilliance, but then we'll sort of stop. You know it it actually never has been all that consistent under Schottenheimer. He's always had over the last, I think he's been here, this is his fourth year, flashes of just brilliance where you're like, wow, what a scheme, what a good game plan, or even like a good half, you know, like three good possessions in a row or something. And then like four just three and outs in a row, like where they ran the ball up the middle. first and 10 second and nine you know and and got no yard so it's i don't know what it is i don't know what it is i mean he seems to be a little inconsistent with the way that he calls the game and the way that he game plans but uh all in all you know a win is a win is a win and i think uh you know the team came together and um got lucky in a sense with some of the turnovers, but what you'd like to take away from that is that they capitalized on the turnovers. You know, sure, guys not gonna fumble the ball twice in the same game, and you're not gonna recover the ball at the opposing team's 20-ish every game, but when you do, you have to make make sure that you put seven or at least three on the board and we did uh... and and that was sort of the the key to victory uh... in my mind yeah i mean it did it there was a lot of the lot to like about the game and again it it's hard because every game becomes its own little microcosm but then if you look back and say we started the season against uh... houston who was number three offense last year. Patriots stuff said You know who I think won 11 games last year and the and the Titans who won 13 games last year You know with a rookie quarterback rookie head coach and you win all three you got it sort of do the listen We're there. We got it. We got it done You know, there's no gaping holes in the game right now. Yes, there's problems. There's points that need to be fixed You know the rushing game wasn't great, but it was good enough You know it was against a team that does know how to rush them. This doesn't know how to Stop the run and they stuck with it is what I like they they don't abandon it So a lot of teams you know you'll see You know a running back have like eight carries for five yards, and you'll be like And it's like, well, they gave him eight shots and he only got five yards, so they just quit.
01 Jake: And they threw the ball 50 something times. We're not going to do that. News flash. The Jets are going to run the ball in the first half. And they're going to run the ball in the second half, and they're going to try and just beat you up a little bit and try and run over you in the second half. And that's just what they're going to do. They're not going to abandon it. and they're not doing it well in the longest run of the game was done by mark sanchez uh... thomas jones fourteen for twenty four running an average of one point four yards uh... you know washington running three point eight he had the most yards the game eighty three rushing out yet not a lot in tennessee's and to do that to you at times yeah but uh... enough to keep them get get them going i think it was that was good so why don't you give me your play of the game the game that stuck out to you game changer or whatever that was that we thought was the one they want to highlight for me the play of the game was the muffed punt by the Tennessee special teams return guy who I didn't know this apparently had lost them the previous game as well. Justin: Oh really? Jake: He's pretty much lost them two games now. Because in my mind he... I forgot his name, number 29 on Tennessee. There's some French name, I forget it. But um... He lost them this game in my mind. Here's why. He gave us the second touchdown to go up 14-0 in the first quarter. From there, Tennessee is looking uphill and wasting a lot of energy coming back. Once they come back and get the lead, they just score 17-14. They kick off to us. We go three and out. punt, it's a total momentum shifter because they had just taken the lead from us. You know, the Boo Birds are coming out for the first time this year at the stadium. We were there. We heard them. We didn't participate, but we heard them. And we're about to punt the ball to them and they're going to go right back down the field and possibly take a 10 point lead. Instead, this guy muffs his second special teams play of the game, we recover, we score, take the lead back, and Kerry Collins did not complete a pass from that point on in the game. He was 0 for 13 from that moment on in the game. So for me, that was the seminal kind of moment slash play of the game that turned the whole game upside down. . Yeah, interesting. I was going to pick that, I thought it was a little obvious. That's fine. I'm Mr. Obvious, man. I'll take it. You are Mr. Obvious. I'm going to go with the David Harris interception. The Tennessee Titans were, they weren't down by a ton. It was 6 minutes and 22 seconds left in the game. Plenty of time to come back. They have a good offense. They can throw the ball.
00 Jake: But that, to me, was the nail in the coffin. You just mentioned that he didn't, after a certain point, I think the last 12 or 13 passes, he couldn't make a completion. And that type of stuff, you intercept them, they did get the ball back one more time, but that point is like two minutes and 52 seconds, and clearly the defense was just playing shutdown defense. And again, the pressure was coming, and he just couldn't. So to me... That David Harris, that David Harris interception was the one that just put the nail in the coffin for that game. And so I call that my play of the game. You know, why don't you, you know what I love just to wrap this up is that Rex doesn't have the prevent defense. Right. It's not in his playbook. So, towards the end of games, like you saw it last week with Brady, or the week before Brady you saw it this past week with Kerry Collins, like I'm fourth in whatever when they have to get that last first down to come back and beat us. We're sending as many guys as we need to to get to him, to rush him, and if you've noticed both times the guy has thrown off his back foot not to where he wanted to go and incomplete. Rex, if he sends five and you block five, then the next play he's going to send six. And if you block six, then the next play he might send seven or eight. It's pretty cool. We we we we we we we we we we we we we we we we we we we we we we we we we we we we we We sort of predicted this before the season. We're going to end up knocking a couple quarterbacks out of games because we hit them hard with some pretty... powerful players. And what I like is that it's a change up. It's not, I mean, one of the sacks came on when they sent three, right? There's a point at which you don't always have to send the total amount and it's not even about how many you send, it's where you send them from. And that's why, you know, the newer genius in his and his defense are starting to get this because he's not not just sending power rushers it's not it's not like the uh... the colts and they got free nian mathison and they're just a send them right there they're just that that's all their job is to do is try to get the correct every single time there's Hsomani different looks as sony changes are so many different you know he'll look like he's consent three from one side cuz they're all over there and they're they're getting ready but in fact all three of them pull back and you know to in company as i just You I mean, that play that you pointed out where Jenkins was lined up on the end and then coming into the middle. It's just kind of, it's so interesting. It's such a cool part to watch. It almost makes you not, this is weird to say, but it almost makes you not want to be a fan of the team so you can watch with a different set of eyes and just say, I want to watch this from the perspective of this is brilliant defensive scheming and I wish I didn't care as much about the game. of course I do. But I wish I could just watch it from the sort of perspective of, I don't care who wins or loses, I'm interested to see how he does it. That's what's so fun about being at the game is that you get that different perspective of watching
02 Jake: it. We were able to point, like you just alluded to the Jenkins kind of lined up as a defensive end or even a linebacker on a play. And we were able to... Look, hey look Jake, look where Jenkins is lined up. Holy shit, what's he gonna do? And when, when he snaps the ball, oh my god, he stunted all the way back inside and just ran right over an offensive lineman and like right into Kerry Collins's face. It's kinda fun to see it like from, from that different um... I know it's not quite what you meant, but from a different perspective, like being kind of high in a coach's box. Right, and without the interruptions of... Yeah, and being just zoomed in on the line and not being able to see what the defensive backs are doing, because Kerry Rhodes is just kind of all over the place in this defense and so is Jim Leonard. The safeties are sort of everywhere. So. So give me your player of the game, give me your knight of the game, knight somebody for me. I'm actually gonna go with the guy who you just named, David Harris. Because he was phenomenal, he was everywhere, he was all over the field. Big key in keeping a good rushing game. from getting really going. Had the interception like we said was all over the quarterback. I mean he really, him and Bart Scott are really something in the middle of this defense. They're really a very good middle linebacker tandem. You'd be hard pressed to look at another team that's playing 3-4 and find two better inside linebackers as a tandem than the two Harrison Scott. But I'm going to go with David Harris for this week's night of the game, which, by the way, for the first three weeks, I've picked defense all three weeks. Yeah, I mean, I don't remember what I picked last week, but I went through El Rivas last week. I went defense last week. I think first we could give it to the kid. You did. I'll switch back to the offense. I'll say that there was some key plays. Scoring points is still how you win the game. The defense didn't score any points, which is interesting because I kind of expect the defense to be of that Baltimore defense where they actually score. They're not doing it. They're doing enough, which is great. So I'm hoping in some upcoming games we get to see that. I'm going to give it to Jay Koch. Here's a guy that basically everybody in the entire NFL media and everything said, you know, it's great. You got this nice guy there, but you probably want to go get a number one receiver. Basically saying he wasn't a number one receiver, but you watch the way he plays and the way He catches the ball on the way he gets yards after the catch and he's you know he puts himself out there uh the guy you know 108 yards averaging 13.5 you know a catch a long of 46
01 Jake: and a touchdown you know they're not freaking you know 400 yard games but they're it's solid and he's keep us in this game i don't this team would not be this team and i think i don't he's not talker he's not a monster teo or he's not out he's not asking for contracts for five minutes whatever the other nfl players are doing uh... he's really quiet but he quietly is getting it done i think he needs from some recognition to making him my night of the week he he was actually uh... pretty decent college player. You know, he was a wide receiver at NC State and he was there all the four years coincided with Phillip Rivers. So him and Phillip Rivers were kind of you know, wyber super quarterback tandem at NC State and he actually Broke a couple of Torrey Holt's records there. So he he's you know He is a very talented player and we've seen it on the jets translate into the pros. He's got good hands He runs after the catch He takes a hit he gets up Yeah, good pick. I like him. Good pick for this week. He had over 100 yards. He had to touchdown. He had half the receiving yards, and more than half of the receiving yards. Yeah. That's going to happen, you know? He's a go-to guy, and I love that. All right, so now we're going to change it up on you people, We normally pick in our thrown picks. We normally pick the AFC East only, but being back by, not even back by the popular man, but. and uh... We have had a few people asked to pick all the games. So what we're gonna do new kind of a storm picks will be expanded We're gonna pick every game, but we're gonna pick in this sequence We're gonna pick the rest of the NFL so every game that's not an AFC East Then we're gonna pick the AFC East with our normal scores Which we always do and then we'll pick the the upcoming Jets game giving kind of the best for last So, if we make this might be a little rough, but we're going to go ahead. So, Justin and I have logged our picks and I think what we're going to hope for next year, maybe we'll get it done, we'll have to get it done for next year. Next year we'll try to figure out a way that we can play against you guys, our listeners. So you can go head to head with the kings as it were. We'll come up with something. Well, I'm the king, you're... Okay, well we'll see since we're playing but we'll see so let's go let's go quickly down the rest of the NFL NFL see where we agree disagree Tennessee at Jacksonville I like Tennessee they cannot be owned for agreed this There's no way they'll go on for it Jacksonville is okay, but they're not they're not they'll stop the run the start and they'll win the game. Detroit at Chicago. Detroit's not winning two in a row, so I'll take Chicago. Totally agreed. Chicago at home will win this game like them. Giants at Kansas City.
01 Jake: The Giants are monstrous, so uh, and they're... They're unstoppable right now. I'm going to take the Giants. Agreed. Matt Castle, lookout. Here comes OC. Seattle at the Colts. I like the Colts at home always. So I'm going to take them against sort of a banged up team right now. you Yeah, Hasselbeck out, Colts at home, Colts win. Wow, we agree on all these so far. So far, Oakland at Houston. I can't pick Oakland on the road with Jamarcus Russell as a quarterback. He's liable to have a 25% completion percentage, so I'm going to go with Houston. Yeah, Houston wins this game, they're a good team, we got them early and I'm happy that we did. Tampa Bay at Washington. This was actually one of the higher games to pick because both teams suck so bad. I'm gonna pick Washington based on the fact that they are home and that they lost to Detroit embarrassingly last week. And they're gonna have a little bit of something to want to prove. So I'm going to pick Washington. Yeah, this is a coin flip. Tampa Bay is really bad. They just, they bench their quarterback. They're going with like Josh Johnson or some just clown. Yeah, exactly. You give it to Redskins being at home, being mad. Although again, Dick Zorn or is it Dick Zorn? Jim Zorn. Thanks for watching. I'm Dan. He's a dick. No, Jim Zorn will not make the end of the season. So it doesn't matter, but Washington wins. Bengals at Browns. This... I think this might be where we might diverge. I'm actually gonna pick Cleveland in this game. I don't know why I just have a feeling. Cincinnati, I don't know, they're gonna be a little they're gonna like overlook this game It's sort of a divisional rival type of thing. So I'm gonna pick the home team Yeah, the battle for ohio, but yeah, you're you're right. I don't know how you're you're somehow reading through Reading my mind. Yeah, bangles just came off a great win against steel or showed showed a team kind of like us against the Patriots, you know, the Steelers kind of, you know, that are the bangles of the Steelers bitches. And, but I think they got a lot going from, I agree if there's one that's going to flip flop on this, this one's a tough one, but I think they're riding it high. You know, Ocho Cinco going to all the Monday Night Games, which he's going to now fly, this is what he said on Monday Night, he's going to fly to every one of the Monday Night Games. And if I were the quarterback, Bob Carson Palmer. and that person dropped one ball during a game, I would say, why are you spending all this time flying to every game, every Monday night game? Why aren't you spending more time at home practicing, sleeping, whatever you need to do to get better as a player? Never mind, let's move on. Rams at 49ers. The Rams are god-awful, and San Francisco seems to be a real deal.
01 Jake: They lost on the last play, Favre, Kyiv. which was all over every highlight package, which kind of sucked. Because, you know, it was lucky. Anyway, I'll take San Francisco. Yeah, Rams Rams at Rams at Rams suck 49ers. Good. Corgone 49ers. Corgone. True. But I'll still take. Yeah. Dallas at Denver. I'm gonna pick Dallas. Denver is 3-0, but they've played nobody. Hahaha, literally nobody. They've beat up on some bad teams, and they were lucky to win their first game. So I'm gonna pick Dallas on the road. Yeah, don't like Dallas on the road in Mile High after a short week. They plan on Monday night. No, I see Denver going 4-0 and I think people still say they're a soft team until I meet up with somebody. This might be the first real team they meet. I think they get it done. I'm calling it Denver. Chargers, Pittsburgh. tough game, good game, good Sunday night game. Agreed. Yeah, they gave us a good one this week because the Monday nighter last week kind of sucked the Carolina Dallas game that game. Yeah. I'm going to choose the home team Pittsburgh. I have a couple reasons they. are one and two and I don't see him going one and three at home. I also don't like San Diego flying all the way to Pittsburgh, shitty weather potential, so I'm gonna go with Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh wins no doubt. San Diego usually plays some very tough there though, so if there could be an upset that could be one. Then the Monday Night Game, which is probably what everybody's going to be talking about for the next at least 40 to 72 hours. Well, this is not the big one. Remember, they play twice, these two teams. This is not the big one. This is this is the big one in terms of that they're actually going to the first time they're going to play. He's got to play his old team. This is the Green Bay Packers go to Minnesota. and play the Vikings so we have the Basically the return or far against his old team. That's not their return of far. Go for it. I think I actually think that they're gonna split and Each home team is gonna win this game. So I'm gonna pick Minnesota Five's gonna want to beat Green Bay first And do it in front of his home fans Yeah, I don't think so. I think 49ers had that game won and if not for a bad defensive play they should have covered in the end zone, they should have been behind that receiver and what is a play that only happens once in a trillion they would have lost. And they kept Adrian Pearson to 84 yards I think last week.
01 Jake: I think Green Bay plays out of their mind this week. I don't care, road not road. I think they play out of their mind and I think they're gonna win. Um, yeah, I think they're that that when far goes to Green Bay, that's whenever that is Green Bay is gonna kill Minnesota there. Uh, but I do think Minnesota will take this one. Alrighty, well, let's get on to the AFC each matchup. So we got on the big ones we can pick some scores. Sweet. Oh, by the way, are we gonna are we gonna work like we've got this we do have these written down. Well, I write them down because they're on the website. Well, I mean... You should go into the website and post to where I actually write them as an article. You should go in and post yours as a comment and then we'll be there forever. Right, but these ones, the ones where we just picked the NFL. Oh, we will put... We have it in our little whatever, a little pool tracker deal, and we're going to report out our... our our percentage next week, right? Yeah, I mean the problem is you've missed three weeks, so... but we will try, yes. We'll control who did better. We'll say who did better week by week. Maybe we'll week by week who wins for that. Okay, so let's go big games now. Probably... I mean, this is the game that I'm looking forward to. Second only... This is a good week actually, the thinking of all these games. Very good week. We got the Ravens going to flying up to New England to take on the Patriots. So three and 0 Ravens. Awesome game. Two and one Patriots. What do you think? I kind of wish this one was on in prime time because this is an awesome game. Baltimore's looked great this year. Again, they haven't really played anybody. They beat San Diego in San Diego, but other than that they played some cupcakes. Um... New England is not quite New England just yet. I think by the end of the year New England is going to be more or closer to the New England of, or at least their offense will be closer to what it was in 2007. They've lost some key cogs on defense, which I don't know how but they always seem to replace the linebackers, Wilfirk, you know, all these guys are out. Nonetheless, I still think New England's gonna win this game and find a way to pull it out. Obviously, big New England fan. So I'm gonna go with an odd score of 19-7. Wow! 19-7? Yeah! So the same Ravens team that's been like scoring 30 to 40 points a game is gonna go score seven. Yeah Yeah, you're good at this No, this is I think this is a total turnaround I'm gonna totally disagree with you I think this is a Ravens game the Ravens are the now the team to beat in the AFC East or AFC Sorry, they're the team to beat steelers. Not so much Patriots not so much indeed not so much
03 Jake: Ravens of the team they are becoming that perfect team. They've got a good defense Good going on great. They lost three major players, but they still can play D They still have the players who played D very well They've now figured how to score in the air and they've got a quarterback who knows the system and he's gonna throw the ball I'm calling this one Ravens 31 Patriots 20. I don't think it's gonna be close I think the Patriots will be trying to come back in the end, but I don't think it's gonna be close I'm calling it 31 20. We disagree on that. I think I think Bell checks can have something up a sleeve Yeah, just like you can do it against the Jets any who let's go back to the Buffalo Bills versus the Miami Dolphins Only three games this week in the AFC East Yeah, tough tough tough game. What do you what are you thinking about the bills in Miami? Miami by the way without champ Hennington who we should mention on this podcast that Chad is out for the season with a shoulder injury Reinjured the shoulder. Maybe I don't I don't know if they've said just yet all the details on exactly what has happened Eh, but basically he's out for the rest of the season and some people are just saying he might never play again. And tough, man. Because Chad is really a competitor. You know, he went through two shoulder surgeries with Jett's, rehabbed both times. Got back on the field didn't miss game didn't miss a game last year So poor poor Chad But life goes on you know he's not a jet anymore, so I don't care as much and They're gonna have to go with their other Chad Chad Henny And I actually think they're gonna win this game at home. I think they're gonna find a way to scheme and like claw and scratch and beat a bad Bill's team. Uh, cause the Bills are just bad too. So, uh... I'll go with Miami. I don't think there's gonna be a whole lot of scoring in this game. I don't think they're gonna light up the scoreboards here. And I'll go with a... one out 13-6. Classic 13-6. Wow. You're really picking low scorers. Yeah, I don't like the scoring. I don't see it happening there. Once again you have your head firmly placed up your ass. Chad Henney... He's no Chad Pennington It's gonna be his first start. He's a rookie This is not gonna go well, and I think you know what the bills as much as Terrell Owens has not shown up You know he likes the warm weather, so I think he's I think he's gonna show up And good thing he's playing in Buffalo
03 Jake: Well, this is in Miami. Yeah, I understand that. Good thing he's playing for Buffalo. That's what I'm saying. I think this is a game he actually comes out. I think the bill's defense was good enough to slow down Drew Brees last week. Remember, 10-7 going into the fourth quarter, and they were good enough to slow down Patriots into the fourth quarter where they died. You know what the bills are? The bills are good enough to lose. They're good enough to just lose. And I think this is a game they're good enough to just win. I call it Bills 23, Dolphins 16. And then the game of the week that only you and I and every other Jet Fan on the planet, maybe those Saints fans too, cares about. This is New York Jets versus the New Orleans Saints. Both 3 and 0. What do you see? 4.05 start. I happen to like 4 o'clock start games when we're on the road. I know you go to every home game, so you probably like the 4 o'clock games too for the extra tailgating time, but I love the 4 o'clock game. It gives you a little time to get into football, get excited, get pumped for the game, watch the earlier games. And obviously I'm picking the Jats, because every every week we pick the Jats in this segment. and I'll see you next time. I think we're going to be able to do to New Orleans what the Bills were able to do to them. Meaning I think we're going to be able to slow them down. I think our defense at this point in the season now has started to really pick up the schemes, pick it up, understand what they need to do and when. uh who has what assignments and how it all works uh so i like the jets to win this game and i'm gonna throw the score out there of 24 16 wow to keep the saints to 16 points that's yeah i think we are gonna be able to do this I think you've put the losers of the teams, I think you've gone, I mean it's almost like the losers of these three teams barely even score like 24 points combined, which I don't think is going to happen so I think you're way off. Justin: That's not true. Jake: But, well since you're not running them down you don't even know. I don't even know. But, but, but, the, I do agree, this is a Jets win, I think this is a, this is, this is the game that's got me you know worried again as a jet fan watching them go undefeated you know just means you wait and feel a shoe to drop uh... if if someone would come to me the devil or say hey you can use one of the next five games which game would you like to lose and you can go in seven and one to you know into the into your by I'd say, you know what, devil, give me this game. Let me lose on the road against a powerhouse offense. But let me come back and wipe the floor with the next four
02 Jake: AFC teams and let this be the one we lose. I don't think we're going to lose. I think we're going to be able a get to him. His left tackle, they lost two of the left tackles, so they're on a third stringer. For the left tackle, their center is not very good. . It's been giving up a lot of pressure coming through. So those two things you see people licking their chops at the idea to get back there. That being said, Juvie's is very good when he's blitzed. But I think here's the difference maker in this game is that They talk a lot about the defense and I think there's always this interesting statistical anomaly that happens with a high-powered offense and their defense and that it makes the defense look better than they really are because you always have a team that's trying to catch up by throwing a lot and not running the ball. Then it looks like the other team's not running so they must be able to shut down the run. No, the other team's not running because they're down by 21 points and they got to and they've also played shit teams. I'm sorry, you play the Lions, you beat the Lions. Oh, yay. You played the Eagles without McNabb and you beat them, but you let the rookie, you let Kolb come in and throw over 300 yards in two touchdowns. Okay, you know, that's not impressive. And then last week they beat the Bills, but they were 10-7 in the fourth quarter. So, you know this isn't an unbeatable team but that their record i think isn't and not that we're unbeatable either but their record certainly isn't showing that they're just dominating the game um i think they're beatable i think the jets win 27 24 again i think it's gonna be they're gonna be with scoring scoring scoring um at the end of the day i think the jets will win by three that was uh interesting that you made that kind of statistical anomaly um comment because That always happens, like you'll notice like there are teams that might be like, they're number three in stopping the run, but they're number like 32 in stopping the pass. They're only number three in the run because no one has to run against them because they can pass all over them. I think the Jets were like that a couple years ago when we couldn't stop the run. We were like, you know, in the top five or so in pass defense. But that was because everyone just ran for like eight yards at a time against us. It didn't matter. They didn't have to throw the ball. It's easier and less risky to run the ball. I totally think so. Again, this isn't a big change defense. What guys did they add that's like, Vilmos from two years ago, what guys did they add to this defense? You're like, oh, they've stepped it up. No, no, no, no. This is a defense that is playing. from behind a big lead and that's an easy position to play from as opposed to playing a tight game and having to shut down people when you have to shut them down so I don't see it I see the Jets winning and since we're gonna end off the thing you know we always say we like to say a
03 Jake: First of all, let's not end off that just yet. Let's do a little bit of recap. I would like to first of all say that let's go over the poll of last week. On jet Kingdom lots of people voted the poll of the week was huh did they now? They did the poll the week I was which 2-0 team will not make the playoffs And let's see the biggest percentage was 30% 30% of the people said that the Denver Broncos would not make the 3-0 Denver Broncos would not make the playoffs This week's poll, although Jets came in at 20%, this week's is what team do the Jets lose to? What are the upcoming teams? I went a couple teams out because Dolphins would play twice. Saints, Dolphins, Bills, Raiders, Patriots. And then of course there's none at the bottom if you just want to choose it, you just won't lose any of them. So go to JetKingdom.com and vote on that puppy.
