09 Justin: The best place to be is when expectations are high. Get used to it. It's always going to be that way. Jake: Welcome to the Jet Kingdom Podcast. as always on this side of the desk is Jake and joining me for this very special number 80 podcast, 80th in the episode. This I think kicks off our fourth year of doing the podcast and joining me for the fourth year, going into our fourth year, it's Justin. Justin, how are you doing? I'm doing great. I think people are missing the digital aisle. Okay, so there's still a digital aisle. No, just for those of you out there who don't know, because I don't think we actually mentioned it in the last podcast, we said we were doing Across the Table, we didn't say why. We have a new mic. And we used to do it over Skype because we weren't in together as much and now because we've proclaimed our love for each other. Just kidding. Because we have more of a chance to... be in the same room at the same time. We now can record podcasts together. So we have a mic. It's called the Snowball. It's awesome. It is awesome. So we're trying to coordinate because last time I think I sounded louder. So we have it farther away from me and Justin is closer to it. We got a lot to get to today. We do. Today's a fun podcast. I always enjoy this podcast in the last four years this is you know always one of my east and then we're going to pick our Super Bowl and the winner. and then we'll keep it all in prosperity for us to come back to and look at. And laugh at ourselves. And laugh at ourselves. At the end of this season. I think one year I picked a team that won like three games to get to the Super Bowl. Yeah, you know what I'd actually like to do first? I'd like to go back and see what we picked last year. Do you remember what we picked last year? Absolutely not. Let me see if I can find that. We also talk about some other stuff right? Yeah, let's talk about some other stuff. First and foremost. There's some big news. R-E-V-I-S. Oh. Reavis. I thought we were going to talk about David Clowney being cut. Yes we were. No, David Clowney is gone. Richardson is back and Reavis signed. So talk a little bit about the contract. I mean, obviously we're in the world, he's a Jet fan, knows that Reavis was signed. I think we both said he would be signed before. I think you, I thought right before, maybe you thought this week. Yeah, I thought this week. And then when I saw that the Jets had cut T-Rich after watching that hard knocks, there was a lot of reading between the lines of that hard knocks and how they were talking about Good luck. you know, we need to cut certain guys that they don't necessarily want to cut because of the
02 Jake: Rebus contract and they kept bringing it up. So I thought it would definitely happen this week and then it happened over the weekend. What they did was they cut Tony Richardson on like Saturday, Saturday evening. And it was interesting because they did that and they kept like a sixth corner, like a rookie guy whose name escapes me but he was later cut. And it was like, oh, okay. they just needed to keep a corner and when they go get Rivas, they will bring Richardson back. And that's pretty much exactly what happened. I guess Rex went down with Woody, down to Florida where Rivas was and Rex sort of did his magic and in the... in the process through a fit. He's like, come on guys, we're, you know, he knows he's a coach. He just wants his guy. He wants his guy on the field. He just wants the best players on the team to be playing, obviously. And he's like, come on, we're all saying the same thing just in two different ways. I'm getting, he like stormed out of the room and yelled at everybody. So we haven't seen this yet, cause- No, I can't wait. I cannot wait. This makes hard knocks even better. I hope they have it. I hope HBO has this. I hope this wasn't- like one of those like top secret missions that happened and no one caught it any which way which I can't imagine these days not having something on camera but I mean can you imagine Rex just going nuts and throwing a tantrum in the room because people just can't get over themselves for contractual stuff and he's just like giving my goddamn player I want to play some football. That would actually be um That would be actually awesome to watch. I bet he says it doesn't matter to everybody. Anyway, he's back. I think, I mean, what do you think about the contract? I mean, contract is... Whatever. I don't know what he was holding out for. Why wasn't this contract there a month ago? I think it was. I think there was always this like, like one extension, this like seven year one. And I don't know. They're saying that Rivas won because Woody and... and Rex had to go down and see him. How's that a win? Well, I think it's a us fan. It's a Jets win if we do well this season. But I think our exposure is smaller. I mean, it's bigger in terms of money for the next four years. But it really looks like he basically gets paid. I don't think this year he gets much more. Next year he gets a bunch more, like 18 million or something. And then the years after that, it looks like was when the contract's gonna be, would have to be up again. I've heard there's language in the contract that talk, that doesn't let him do this again, basically hold out. So I don't care. He's back. He sounds like he's the, you know, he'd have to be back. We're happy to have him. It's enough time for him to get up. Do you think he can play at his level starting on Monday night? Really? No conditioning for us? I'm sure he's been training and not at game speed like some of these other guys, but he's like the best at his position. So even an 80% revus is like better than most.
06 Jake: That's true. So yeah, I think he's gonna start and I think he'll be fine. What do you think about his numbers this year? Everybody's saying that there's no way he can put up the same numbers he did last year based on, you know, fluke, you know, opposing fans will say, well, he had help over the top a lot, which I don't think is true. Well, he didn't have help. He was literally on the island. But I don't know, his numbers are hard to gauge because he doesn't... get too many interceptions because people don't always, they don't really throw the ball his way. He gets past defenses, which he had like an insane number of last year, which was like, essentially, the few times that they did throw the ball his way, he knocked it down, which is like incredible. That's a number to gauge. I think he had like 30 something in the high 30s and like a great year is like in the 20s Yeah, so he had like this insane year. I think you only like four or five interceptions. I don't think he'll have that many more Just because I don't think people will be throwing his way. I mean, it's not why see last year statistically They did throw his way and that's where he got good numbers because he actually was able to defend a lot I don't think he's going to I don't think he's going to, I think people are going to stop throwing him this year because he sort of, he is that guy you're now game planning for on the defense. Well, I'll tell you this much. With him on the field, they are definitely the best defense in the league. There's, I cannot think of a defense that has so many guys. in such a cohesive unit that for the most part played together the season before. And who cares about cohesive? Rex Ryan went and took that team from a year ago that was him new and all new of the other one. Yeah, but generally, year two in the system is when you crank it up and you get Jenkins back, you got a Cromartie on the other side, not Joe Schmo or Kyle Lowry or Lido off the scrap heap. You have a legit other corner, you have Kyle Wilson in the slaughter as the third guy. Bronny Poole is looking pretty decent during the preseason and the front seven are as good as anybody's. So... Yeah, I mean, and again, I don't care if they're number one. I really care about the wings. I don't care about it. I don't care if they're number two or three defense. I don't care. No, number one. Alright, well, that's not my goal. personally. So what else? Tj, who's Muzadda? It's off to the Baltimore Ravens. We get to see him in week one. Yeah, he'll play in week one. That's also we gotta do that. We gotta make our week one picks. So we gotta make our year picks. A lot of picks. Or maybe we should just make our Baltimore pick when we pick the whole thing. We'll give it a score. Yeah. All right. Yeah. So there's other news around the NFL. Do you want to touch on it? Some other stuff going on? Sure, a little bit. Not that we have a huge podcast to get through or anything. Alright, fine, I won. Well, you know who's gonna cut the Kwechmanzata?
02 Jake: You got the liner thing going on in Arizona. He's shipped off for cut no more. This was a guy who I recall a few Jack fans, you know, back. Oh yeah, wanting. We wanted liners. Hey, what are we doing? Why aren't we picking Matt Liner? We need a quarterback. And he turned out to be Garbage. Well, there's a Brady Quinn too. Brady Quinn's a guy who... Everybody was like why didn't the dolphins go and get him and then he gets traded around now He's I think he's second or third string. He's third in Denver. Yeah, I can't see him playing ahead of Tim Tebow in Denver. So it's you know, these guys are not always Not always what you think they are coming out of college. No, it's true. And what makes them successful or not? I don't know. Like one good year, does that make Matt Castle really great? I don't know. He looked like Garbage last year. Is there any guy that the Jets cut that you wish that they didn't cut? Yeah, of this roster? Yeah. No, no. You think they made all the right moves? Let me just ask you this. Who's our fourth receiver? Week one. Who's our fourth receiver week one? Week two, week three and week four. Woodhead? I think you're right. I think it's Danny Woodhead or like LT in the slot. I'll tell you, he's not a guy who gets a lot of. pass its own to him. This isn't going to be a pass happy team. That's the mistake. I'm saying if you want to go four wide, is it Keller? Well I think we kept four tight ends, didn't we? Yeah, so it's a Keller I guess and then you put another tight end out there if you want. Yeah, I think you don't have a lot of wide receiving options. No, but then we get one back. Yeah, we get one back. And we get one of the best. It's not like Brad Smith is all that good either. It's like you have two receivers out there. Right. But that's what we survived with last year and did fine. So I think we have to use more weapons now because of LT. Alright so let's get to it. Let's get to it. Let's get to the breakdown. We're going to go game by game, game by game, game by game. Alright. Are we going to do a game by game? Game by game. Let's go week one. And let's pick this score since it's the week one score. So this is the only one we're going to do the score, but we're going to game by game. So it's Baltimore at home on Monday night at seven o'clock. Yeah, is this a win or loss? What do you think? Oh, it's a win. We're opening the stadium. Yeah, we can't lose this game. No, it's a victory. I worry because this is a Baltimore. Baltimore. team that went into the playoffs that was missing some pieces, went out and got one of the best pieces there is in Boldland and now is, you know, are they a better team for it? Sure, why wouldn't they be a better team? So they're not, they went and destroyed the Patriots at home last year. They have a really good running game that some people would pick in the fantasy league. So, you know, this type of runner, like he's a runner like Maurice Jones drew. who gassed us for 126 yards last year, like that's not... If they do that to us, we're in for some trouble.
01 Jake: Now of course we didn't have Jenkins. It's a different Ravens team. It is. I think they're better on offense than they are on defense. I think they're probably... I think this year, this is the year they'll be better at offense than they are on defense. Yeah, it's weird. The playoff I think changed it. Well Flacco is now in his third year. Yep. They have Bolden, they have Ray Rice, Tati, still have Derek Mason, good offensive line, and their defense is sort of old. Well, their secondary is older, and their missing enemies... Their secondary, they have no corners. Ray Lewis is 112, and he's not... Oh, Ray Lewis, yeah, yeah. He played on the Browns, I swear. And I don't know, I feel as if this is a victory. I think I have a feeling Rex knows his old team a little too well. And I don't think it'll work in the reverse way where the offensive coordinator knows Rex, whereas Rex will know what to do to fly him to rattle him up. and it's gonna be a home game at night, it's gonna be the first one, it's gonna be crazy and I cannot see the Jets losing this game. It's gonna be tight though. He could talk about like the letdown games. This is, if nothing, if nothing in the last eight months has said anything, this is the letdown game because of all the hype, the the Super Bowl talk, the playoffs last year, the hard knocks. the signing of the dream teams players. All of these guys. This is the let down game. I think we win the game. But yeah, I think we were going to stay in the plate because I don't think it'd be a lot of points. But give me a score. You want my score? I want a score. 23-13. Oh, we're gonna win by 10? Yeah. I'm gonna go much, I'm gonna stay under that. I'm gonna go like 21, 17. 21, 17. That's a close one, that's a nail biter. I know. I'll be biting my nails. I will be there and I will be biting my nails. All right. Second game, so then literally with the little time to game plan for them, here comes the Patriots. Here they come. They still have, you know, Tom Brady, they still have Randy Moss, they still have Bill Belichick. Not their home game. Another home game. Good, I like starting with two home games. I enjoy that. And this is a... Now, you know how I like to chunk the seasons into forts? Yeah, you are the only person who likes to do this. Am I? No, no, everybody does this. Well, I like to chunk the seasons into forts. And not to look ahead too much, but... This first four, I'd love to get out of it with two and two. Ooh, love to get out of this with two and two? With Buffalo being one of the teams? So we're going to lose against Buffalo? I think we're going to lose against New England at home. Wow. This is the team we came in last year that we beat. We weren't even as good. I know, but for some reason, I feel like like. Bill, Chuck and Brady are gonna be like, oh we own this new stadium and come in and do something that they probably shouldn't do And win and probably beat us. I feel like they're gonna put up 27 on us
00 Jake: Which is yeah gonna be close to like where we can go Yeah, watermark for the year and as we play Oakland that we can get to 35. No them. They're gonna score 27 No, I know but I'm saying we can't compete with the 27 points Oh, yeah. I don't think the Jets offense is going to be putting up 27-4-3. No, I think it's going to be like a bad loss, like 27-21. We'll have the ball at the end of the game and can't get it in for a touchdown. Not really. We'll lose by 6. 27-21. Do we have to pick score? No, not score every game. Just the beginning game. We pick them every week. Yeah, I'll say New England wins, so that's a loss. One and one I have. I have this as a win. I'm going to keep track of what I have. That's good. This time, this year only. I'm gonna go this a win. It's it's I don't know. I think that the The Patriots are gonna be more difficult in the future like in the December time frame They have a much younger defense and they then you know, like we do I think they're gonna get better with time then just coming out the gate slamming people So yeah, I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go, this is a win. If we're chonking this into fours, I'm seeing a good starting four. How's that? Then we have Miami Dolphins in Miami on a Sunday night, which is kind of almost what happened last year. We had them earlier than not, and we had them on a Monday night. And we've lost. So this time, do we take it to the chat? Nope. We lose to chat? Yeah, I think we're going to start the season 1 and 2. Do you know what the JET fans will do if we go 1 and 2 against two of our division rivals? I think we have to be patient and calm and I think we're going to start the season 1 and 2 and then Rex is going to... beat the crap out of people, they're gonna wait. Yeah, I think we lose that one. No, call me a homo, we're not gonna lose this one. You ever said 3-0 after our hardest three games, our three games are like our hardest three games. Yeah, because I think the thing that's gonna keep us into these games is gonna be incredible defense that doesn't need, isn't gonna suffer from ups and downs. It's just gonna play at a high level. And I'm not really afraid of Chad Henny, I'm sorry. You know, Brandon Marshall, okay, great. Then who? He traded away, they traded away one of the best that was at the tight end. What's his face? They traded him away. Who else are they gonna throw to? So even if we put two people on him, who else are they throwing to? Ricky and Ronnie, are they really the backs of before? 4. I don't know. I feel like they're really tough. Strange bird team. I don't know what they're even you know, they're quarterbacks
02 Jake: Questionable. I mean he plays well when he plays well, but he also gets concussions a lot They've got Lee Evans. They've got I've got a couple actually that's filler. Yeah, it's a new rookie Player but their defense is awful. All right We've got issues with offensive lines. We're going to sack the Turn Out Words a bunch of times. That game is, I think, an easy win. Alright, then we go to probably, I think one of the toughest match-ups, depending on who's playing this game. Then we take on Vikings at home on a Monday night. This is what I consider a tough matchup. The Vikings were in the NFC Championship last year. They won some crazy number of... They're not what they were last year, though. But they won some 10 games in a row or 9 games in a row last year. They had a little far of magic last year. Well, they still have a far. Which is why that little pixie dust wears off in year two, I think. We didn't even have him for year two. Yeah, more often second half of year one. He's already limping around. He's already getting shots in his ankle. Who knows if he's even going to play in this? by this time. They don't even know Sidney Rice. They lost a bunch of their weaponry. Rice is out. Harvin has migraine issues. Who knows if he's going to be playing. Farve's already limping around. Justin: They do have Adrian Peterson. They still got the Williams wall. They still have... Jake: I feel as if this is a prime time game. Fans will be raucous, rock in that place. Well, there'll be, no, they'll be throwing bottles if we've lost to the dolphins of the Patriots before this game. We'll be two and two and this will put us to three and two. Trust me guys, my predictions get better over the course of the season. Okay, let's say, if you haven't turned off this podcast already. I think at the end of the day, I think... I think I'm gonna have him with a better record than you. You just have him starting off 3-0. You guys are gonna like my pick. That's true. That's true. Um, I think we lose this game. I think we lose to Minnesota on Monday night. So you have us 4-0 going into this game. And 4-1. This huge letdown. The world is like ready for us to take it over and then it's 4-1, yeah. I feel like this is a... Comeback game. ...FU game to Brad. And we take it. If he's not playing, I mean, they got rid of their second best quarterback, if you can call him the second best quarterback. Viruses, alright. You got into the playoffs two years ago. No, Adrian Peterson got into the playoffs two years ago. The virus was steering the ship. He was... It was just for us. It doesn't really matter. Okay, so you see the... You think Farr's gonna have another season like last year, you're kidding yourself. I don't think you have enough season, but I think if he wants a revenge game I think this is one of his revenge games, so I have three into you have four and one four and one then we go to At Denver at Denver, so what's what's Denver got to hand? I got nothing they stink Well, I haven't played a game yet, but okay nothing. I mean their first receiver Well, they got rid of them. I don't even know. I don't even know either. Honestly, I'm not even sure who their first receiver is at this point.
05 Jake: This is a team that came out and won six games in a row that started the season last year. And they lost a whole shit ton in a row. Yeah, then they did pretty much. They lost Dumerville for the year. Oh yeah, yeah, that's big. Moreno had some injury troubles in the preseason. No one trusts Kyle Wharton. Mean we're gonna we're gonna beat this team pretty handily. Okay, so I have us winning this game and And going into the bye week at Warren to which isn't bad Wait, I was going in I was winning this game as well and I was going in at a five and one Five more. I think it's good one game. Yeah, that's other Yeah, but then the problem starts when we get back after the buy. So I have us winning the buy outright. Me too. Slamming it. Week 8 we come back, which I, yeah, I guess it's away from away again when we come back when we got Green Bay. Yeah, Green Bay's good. They were good last year. And they're gonna be good. I think they're gonna be good. They're gonna be real good. I think they're gonna be good and I think they're gonna be this. Me too. Alright, we have an agreement here. It's gonna be tough, that game. It's not gonna be a fun game. You know what, it's gonna be a fun game. Other than I'll be there. I mean, their defense isn't that great. Their defense isn't that good. They just score a lot. So it's gonna be one of those interesting games where like... Who do you top defense versus well, they also have a number two defense last year So it's not like they're yeah, really the second best defense in the league last year Like that's correct. So good on you for not knowing your stats I don't I don't they did second best defense second deep second best defense in the league last year The people who said that we had number one. Yeah, the same people. Are you serious? I'm serious. Now, again, I don't know if that's going to continue, but they did. They had a very good defense last year. I agree. They were not, they were not. I mean, what stat were you looking at? I'm telling you, they were the... Points per game? I mean, what was the stat? They were the ranked second. Whatever the stats that get us number one, they had number two. Well, that stat would be points per game. Which we were first in, or yards per game, which we were first in. They happen to be second in yards per game. Yeah, and what's the other one? Points per game, which they are like, you know, eighth or ninth. Trust me, they're the second best defense. I think they were tied with someone else for second best defense, but they were. So you're wrong, but it's okay. Then we have Detroit. When? Okay. Moving on. Cleveland. Cleveland's an interesting... The man genius. I think we outfoxed the man genius. Really? He was... First of all, not that genius. We're gonna take Cleveland Browns... Not scared of Jake Delon with our rush. Yeah. No, no. He's in trouble. Take not scared of them. No, I don't I don't feel like they well I mean they had the wasn't towards the last day of the year. They want a couple game. Yeah, she cribs can do some funky stuff right? Can't place the names But I still don't don't feel like that's an interesting you haven't had a home room there
00 Jake: He's the walrus like like the parcells figure. Yeah, I and the interesting part is that that they're their defensive coordinator is Rex's brother Yeah But I still don't feel like they have enough views. Did you see that in Hard Knocks where he said to the guy, and that's why my brother, that was awesome. So wait, let's recap for a second. We're on game 10. So after week 10, which is game 9. What do you where do you have us after game 10? I still have is that whatever in two so doing the quick math five six Seven and two and I have us at six and three. Okay, so that's pretty good. It's close. It's close Then we have Houston Houston at home Houston at home. So, Houston we went down last year. No one in the world picked us to win that first game last year. We went down and beat them. If not for... No, it was not game. Didn't you have two interceptions in that game? Didn't Sanchez have two? Justin: No, I don't think so. Jake: Yeah, at home later in the season where we're talking here, week 11, Houston, talking November 21st, so getting out of their comfort zone, getting a little chilly. I like it. I like it. I think it's a win. I think we can win that game. I have that as a loss. Oh, so you already... Wow, I'm a homer. I have Houston beating us and putting our record to six and four. Yeah, I'm now at eight and two. Wow. Is that right? Yeah. Yeah it is. 8-2 because the last part of the season I think it's gonna go very badly. See I have it the exact opposite. I think we're picking up steam right now. Yeah. This is after that loss to Houston I feel like there's some games that he had right there. So then Sensei? I feel like that's a victory. I think it's a victory. You beat a team with... Sensei is a much improved team over last year. They got a couple guys in on offense that some guys that were injured that we didn't see in those playoff games. That's total. Oh, and they got T.O. in. They got Carson Palmer. Although he's not back from anything. The quarterback who was a lineman that they were missing, another linebacker that they were missing that I can't pronounce his name, the Molly, Molly Yuga guy. Yeah. But I have that as a... victory on Turkey Night. I will say if I were going to throw some picks around and say I would swap some out, I might say that's a loss and one of the next ones that I actually think are losses would be a win. So like that's the game that I feel like with the short weeks and all that it starts to get like those games get... You're picking that as a loss? I'm picking as a win now. So I'm listening 9 and 2. 9 and 2. And then... I have us at 7 and 3. And then the shit hits the fan. Wow. See I have us picking up steam at this point at 7 and 3. Moving forward with now we're gonna go up to New England and avenge our honor and beat New England up there Yeah, to go eight and three then we lose to New England and we go whatever have is that at that point? Yeah, I mean nine and three three and I have a city for eight four. Yeah
04 Jake: Yeah, I mean I just think I think my I think I think the Patriots are gonna be a better team in the second half this year. As I do the Dolphins and I think the next week, I think it's again, we're gonna lose. So I have a splitting with the Dolphins. But I have us losing early to both and winning late to both. You have the exact opposite. Yeah, I was winning the Dolphins at this point. They're at home then. Pittsburgh. So Pittsburgh's a weird case. Like, some people are picking them to go to Super Bowl this year. I just feel like Sanchez is a tough place to play. Very hard. He'll be back for many, many weeks. Oh, he's been back. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. He's not waiting. Right, so it won't be like he's coming off things. It's where we couldn't get him right off. Um... But I think we rebound with a win over Chicago. I haven't said nine and five at this point right you have us I have a set The same nine and five because you have us losing three in a row right there. That's right We're both at nine and five. Yeah going into the last two So we both are thinking the same thing I guess so but mine sounds better because we're winning like five of our last six games. Okay. Your sucks. And then I think we win against Chicago. We win Chicago and beat Buffalo. No, we lose Buffalo. That's how we swap. I was at eleven and five. Oh, no I'm ten and six. Oh, see some people are going to like my picks better. Whatever the way that the magic of the post-season works, I think that last game to us, literally from 11-5 to 10-6 in our division and in the wildcard spot, I think we guarantee the wildcard spot and it won't matter enough to play the full game. I think we're going to win the division at 11-5. I don't think we're going to win the division. You think the Pats are going to be abundet than 11-5? I think we're going to be 10-6. I think they'll be more... Not the fence. Not the fence. Well, we'll get to the AFCs in a minute. Yeah, I have to write those down right now. So I'm at 10... So end of the season, 2010, I'm predicting the Jets go 10 and 6, one better. And here's... And I basically said this eight months ago. So this is only backing up what I said, which is... When everybody talks about this Jets team that was this, you know, Are you guys gonna be better than last year and you know, all the suitable talk? We were only a 9 and 17 last year. So to be better than 9 and 7 is to win 10 and 6 or 11 and 5. So to me it's not a huge jump to say we're gonna win one more game. If we were 12 and 4 last year, are we gonna go to 13 and 3? No. We were 9 and 7. We squeaked into this playoffs. We all know we squeaked in the playoffs and we went And once we got on the road, we did some good stuff. But so I think we're going to do better than last year. We're going to win one more game. I still think Sanchez is going to struggle in some of these games. Some of these games that you're like, oh, he's going to struggle.
00 Jake: So I think that's. wins championships. No, it's BS. Go read. Go read football. Go read football outsiders. It doesn't really happen. So I have 11 and five. I can go on to the AFC East if you'd like. OK, so you have the fence. Sure. Just record? Yeah, record. 9 and 7. 9 and 7. Yeah, I have them in the 8 and 8. Now, let me curve that by saying, I don't know if these four records I'm gonna throw out there are mathematically possible. You always say that. You always say that. But, yeah. I think there is enough variation. 9 and 7. I think there is enough variation that... Sure, there is. That, that, that, right. And then I have the... What do you have, the fins? 8 and 8. I think they were one off. I think they got a lot of close games again. I don't know if Chad... I don't know if the Chad... the Chad Henny is gonna have this breakout year this year. Year three of Sperano. Year three of Sperano. Year one and a half of Chad Henny. I don't know. And if Chad Henny struggles early, you know what that means. In comes Chad Pennington. No, I think Kenny's their guy. They got rid of Pat White. There is no one else. Yeah, I think Kenny's their guy. Whether he struggles or not, I don't think Pennington's coming on the field. Parcells will pull a player. Parcells is not the coach. He's the man pulling the strings. I don't know. And he loves Pennington. And if he thinks that they can do better by pulling him, I don't know. They traded away their tight end, which is just odd to me. The persona or whatever his name is. Fusano. Was it Fusano? They traded them for the Vikings. Alright. So I have the Pats. So I have the Pats. Yeah, we've met 11 and 5, yeah. I have 11 and 5 and I have them winning the AFC East. I have them at 9 and 7. And not winning the AFC East. 9 and 7 for the Pats. That's probably the worst record in like... Many many years. Yeah, okay and based on what? They're just getting old and their defense actually younger than it's ever been guys are too old and their young guys are too young What's no middle guy? What's your what's their old guys? Who are they? Brady Walker coming off the surgery. No running back. No running. Their line is old I got Chester Taylor. No, they don't. No, who is the guy they the third running third running back? They have like Kevin Falk and Sammy Morris and Lawrence Maroney and oh Taylor not Chester though The guy from the Jaguars. Sorry. Yeah, what's his face? He's still on the roster. Doesn't matter He's like for so you so okay, and then let's go and Taylor Fred Taylor. Oh Bills 40 5 and 11 I have exactly five mother. Yeah bills suffer I think they're gonna suffer I think cuz I think that that's a good league by the way 10 and 6 8 and 8 and 11 5 for me, which is basically what you have three winning records. Yeah. Yeah, I don't have the dolphin I have splitting at 500. So I the bills got to take a hit on that one So yeah, okay, so to recap, jets?
01 Jake: 11 and 5. 10 and 6. Dolphins? 9 and 7. 8 and 8. 9 and 7. 11 and 5. Okay, so it is kind of even across this, even across. You basically took my... Well, you're knocking down the Patriots more than I think is actually going to happen. We both think the Bills will be 5 and 11. All right, let's go on to some little playoffs. So do the Jets, question number one, Jets make the playoffs. Oh yeah, they're winning their division. We're going to have a home game. Okay, you do. I have them going in as wild card, which again, I think that last game is not going to matter about, because I think it's going to be one of those, if you win this game, you go in this wild card, you go in this one, they're not going to care. So you're saying road to the Super Bowl is on the road again. Yes, the road to the Super Bowl, if we were to win the Super Bowl, will be on. So let's get the Homer pick out of the way. Who's going to win the Super Bowl? The Jets. The New York Jets are going to win the Super Bowl. Okay, now let's go back to the reality picks. I think we did predict them to win last year and they almost got there. So every year... Oh, I wish I had my last... I'm going to write these down this year. Yeah, that's good. I promise I'm going to write these down. I think I know where we wrote down last year. If I can go find them. Alright, well whatever, we'll get to that. So who's your Super Bowl? No, no, no, let's go away with it. You've got us in the playoffs, run the scenario. What do you mean scenario? Run the scenario. What do you mean? Like pick every playoff team? Justin: Well just tell us how you think it's going to match up. Jake: I don't understand what you're asking me. I don't know if this is so difficult. Okay, by the way, you had the Falcons playing the Ravens, the Ravens winning last Super Bowl. Falcons, Ravens. I love the Falcons. And Ed Reed, who didn't play the last half of the gear, winning. We picked the MVP. Oh, we picked the MVP too. I had Steelers, Eagles. So not so good. Not well. And I've been Ben are winning again. All right. I'm going to pick the six playoff teams in the AFC. Is that what you're saying? If you if you have us winning, if you have us going to playoffs, you have to at least say who you think we're going to match up with. I can't say I can say who's going to win each division. And then I don't know. No, just say who you think we're going to play in the first round. But who I don't know. OK. I mean, we're gonna make the class, we're gonna win the division, we're gonna have a home game. And then we're- are we gonna win the home game? Yeah! And then we're gonna- then what are we gonna do? We're gonna make the Super Bowl! You think we're gonna make- you are literally- I'm not even doing the Homer pick this year, I'm kicking the Jets and the Super Bowl. To win the Super Bowl? To make the Super Bowl. You have us losing the Super Bowl?! Yeah! I'm freaking eating the jets to lose the Super Bowl! Terrible! Fucking gay! I'd rather go 1 in 15! and lose the Super Bowl. I cannot believe this. This is why, this is almost becoming a conversation. This is why we should always talk about this stuff over again. Okay, so, okay, so running out there. Who do you have that's going up again? I don't really have to map that out. I think the Ravens are gonna be really tough. And it will probably be the team that we have to beat to make it.
00 Jake: I think we're gonna have to go on the road to play the Ravens. Yeah, well we're gonna have to go on the road because someone's gonna have better than 11-5 record. Yeah. Probably two teams, probably the Colts and the Ravens. So I think it's road to Ravens win and then go on to play, I don't think the Colts, and then I think go on to play the Colts in the second round. I don't think they're gonna do as well. No, you think, oh, because you think we're gonna be a wild card team. Wild card. So you think we're gonna go to the Ravens in the first round and go to the Colton Loos? And Loos. Wow. Now. Well, so you think we're gonna go to the Ravens... We're gonna host the Ravens. Okay, host somebody. I think we're gonna play the Ravens in the... I think the Ravens are gonna be the first... The first or second seed and they're gonna... Okay, so who will we play? So the Patriots are in at 9 and 7? Um, maybe. I can tell you that I think the colts and the ravens are going to be the two topseeds. Two topseeds. Who are the ones below them? And then there's the jets. I agree with the colts and the ravens. There's the jets and there's the chargers are going to be the division winners that host Week 1 games. Right? And it'll probably be... You know, I don't want to... this is exactly the teams that were in the playoffs last year. I'll say the Steelers and the Pats. So then we're going to need the host of Steelers or the Pats? Yeah. So then we're going to win? Yeah. Oh, that's one. I'd love to meet the Pats at home. Okay. And then the second game we're going to play, then we go on the road. We have to go on the road. Good. and play Baltimore. Let's say the Colts. We beat the Colts. We beat the Colts on the road again. Okay, like this. And then we go to the Ravens and beat them. And then we go to the Ravens and beat them in the AFC Championship. That's right. And then we go on the Super Bowl and play the Packers. And we lose the Packers. Yeah. Who we lost to already in the beginning of the season. Yeah, sucks. Bring all those twice, though. I got a call from our packer friend. Isn't that bad? Alright, so then who's your... go for it. And Aaron Rodgers is the MVP. Oh, God, I'd rather not go. I think... I don't think the Saints will get back there. Oh, wait, who's their AFC team? I'm doing it. I'm doing it. I'm doing it now. I'm doing it in my head. I haven't thought about it. I have thought about it And it's not the Jets. No, that's cuz you can't have them losing you loser. I Can I can honestly say my Homer pick is the Jets winning the Super Bowl? But I think it'll be so amazing just to get there and then in true Jets fashion Like it'll be close in halftime. We'll have a chance I'm having a heart attack right now Since I had us go to the colt and lose in the second round I'm gonna have the colts go all the way
02 Jake: and win this time. Come back. And they're gonna win over Packers. Oh, you have Packers in as well. I like it. 34-28, Manning's the MVP. He gets his second ring, third suitable, second ring. I cannot believe you think Aaron Rodgers is going to be the MVP of the Super Bowl. That's the worst pick ever. You have them in the Super Bowl. That's true. That's true. Well, I can't think of another NFC team. I think is a stronger team There's some decent I mean I don't know There's the Cowboys some people like No, there's other you think the Giants going eight Nate by the way Giants All right, well those are our picks for this this week If you want to pick against us, this and every week, so here's what we're going to do. Actually, we have to do a couple more picks this week. We do? Yeah, you have to pull up the week one because we have to make our thrown picks for this week. Oh, we have to pick the AFC. Yeah. That's right. So you pick that up and I will tell the fans of the podcast to head on over to Yahoo, Yahoo pickums fantasy football pick them and there's links on the website. We'll put a link in the podcast notes and we're also tweeting the links and we'll also put it on Facebook so if you want to follow us in any of those places you'll find it but basically you can play against us. So we are gonna pick every week. I'm I think mine's Jake's perfect picks and yours is just Jake. Okay we're gonna pick every week with the spread and we're gonna announce every week who's the best Who got the best between us? We're in a competition. You and I and everyone else. And everybody else. We'll say who's winning the week, who's doing the best. And you know what? The prize for the end of the season will be some Jet Kingdom paraphernalia. There's already people in it. I see that there's people in the week. There'll be a Jet Kingdom paraphernalia. And you get to come on the podcast and float. Yeah, you can definitely float. And we're going all the way through the playoffs. So we're going all the way through the end. And you have to pick every week in order to... It's no like percentage thing. Yeah, no, no. Be in from the beginning, so get in there. Yeah, get in there now. Alrighty. So week one, AFC picks. AFC East. We already picked the... We already picked the big... We already picked the Jack game. And which means we only have two more games because one of them there's a double matchup. Miami is playing in Buffalo. Miami in Buffalo. Miami must be so happy. It's like the that's when you want to play in Buffalo. It's like 85 degrees. For Miami that's exactly when they want to go to Buffalo. Yeah I'm gonna call that. I think that that's when they just they're just gonna play like 30 to... 17 Miami wins that game. Yeah, I think you're probably about right It's a road game. I don't think they'll put up 30, but they're gonna win by the way me up there for that Yeah, but it's a road game. It's the open air bills fans and it's a 1 o'clock game They'll get there at like 8 in the morning and just that won't help them Phil's play.
00 Jake: Maybe some Miami... maybe Jason Taylor will get lost on the way there. Let's get that managed... get them a multiple hundred thousand dollar car that has GPS. I think Miami wins. I'll cut the score a little bit. I'll go 24 to 10. 24 to 10. Alright. And who's the second matchup? Justin: New England is home to Cincinnati. Good game. Jake: Okay. Justin: Good game. What do you think? Jake: I don't think since he's gonna come well Home doing this home. New England is home. They're not losing their home. I don't doesn't matter so this is better to the points I think it'll be lower than traditional. I don't think it'll be one of those high flute and games. I think You know, since he had a good defense last year, again, they lost some players. They got worse as it went along. We ended up making them look worse. So, but I think it'll be low-ish, like, you know, 24-21 type of thing. 24-21, that's what I'm calling it. I think Cincinnati's better than you think. Okay. No cough button with the mic in the room. Yeah, there is no cough button. All right, no cough button. Um, I think Cincinnati's gonna win the game. Wow. I just disagreed with myself. Yeah, you really did. Good job there. I think their defense is better than Better than New England's offense. Yeah, struggling to get these words out. I know. Uh-huh Cincinnati's gonna win Have you made your picks on the board yet? No, I haven't. Alright, so for next week, we gotta make our picks first, so then we can go over them and see where we agree to go. Justin: 2720. Jake: 2720, okay. Alright, so you have the Jets winning, Miami winning, and Cincy winning. Yeah, in our picks. Alrighty, longest episode ever. Thank you for... Well, no. But it's just to say that, 43 minutes.
