Jake: It's Jake and joining me on his side of the digital aisle, which is more at this point like a, I don't even want to call it an aisle. I want to call it a... To crackly digital aisle. Yeah, it's like a crack in a hole. It's no good. Is Justin. Justin, how you doing? Awesome. I went to a jet game this week. It was cool. Yes jet games are good. I love games. All right, so we got some good stuff to talk about We got hard knocks, which is not only last week, but we got new in this week We got talk about the new metal and stadium Jets versus Giants Bulls and Knights Games and we talked about other kingdoms. We have old pole new pole And then we'll wrap it up so we can get going for the hard knocks. So I can get it up and on the server before hard knocks starts in just an hour. Yeah, we are recording this on Wednesday the 18th, right before hard knocks. So there you go. So well, that's a good place to start. So I mean, hard knocks came out. So awesome. Just what? I mean, I know you're going to say awesome. So how awesome? Like, tell me what you thought. That's all I got. like 1 to 10 and 11. It is so awesome. It is... man, it's so cool. It is awesome to see that level of depth and detail and what goes into... the team as we're getting to see. I mean, I've watched Hard Knocks before, I've seen the seasons in the past, but I haven't really cared about those teams, so it was like, yeah, whatever. But watching about your team, it is so awesome. And Rex Ryan is a superstar. He is a legitimate entertainer. He is a great football coach. He gets people. It, it, everyone seems to really Like them and like get along and I just really enjoy getting this glimpse into What is generally a like a black hole? I mean you get to go to training camp you get to see some of this stuff, but you don't really get to see it They're not miked. You don't get to hear it You don't even get like the really cool backstories on players like John Connor and guys who get cut and how they treat them when they're cutting them.
03:04 Jake: It's just a fascinating show and I mean the Jets are entertaining as hell to me whenever. So just getting more is better. it is it's it's awesome I mean it's just it's awesome it is like it's like crack I mean I just this is great I just I want it I'll tell you I'm gonna bed normally pretty early it's been a tough week been up we were at the Jets game on Sunday Monday night but I will tell you I'm getting out of here I'm gonna watch that game that game because it's just that good. And again, as a Jet fans, everything you want, you just want to be up close and personal and learning about it and seeing it. And I'll watch it tonight and then I'll watch it again tomorrow. It is that good. So I'm so excited. I think it's a great thing. I think there's probably a lot of negatives to be pulled out of it, but at this point, I don't really care. Lots of cursing. And I don't mind. Kind of like it. Yeah, no, not so much the cursing. I don't mind it at all. More worried about, like, just, one of the articles today was talking about, you know, are the Jets the team that everybody wants to beat? Just because, not because we're the best, because we're not the best. But just because they're just obnoxious and cocky and and you know everybody's basically you know his persona if you're not a jet fan I don't think you like Rex Ryan. I don't think he's a likable guy if you're not if he's your guy He's your guy, you know, but if he's not your guy, I don't think he's a very likable guy I don't know. That's just my opinion. But anyway Good stuff. Can't wait. More to come. So we had a game. We had like momentous things going on. We had a game. We opened up the new stadium. It was Monday night. It was awesome just to be there. Good tailgating. So. What do you think? I mean, this is our first time you I think this is maybe your first or second second time third time in the stadium A certain first time for the game. What do you think about the stadium third time in the stadium? It was really uh, first of all the seats are awesome where we sit, um, pretty awesome seats So that's a good thing I thought the atmosphere was pretty good. I mean, it was actually really good for a preseason game. It was like phenomenal The crowd was packed. It was it was like a full house. It was loud the Ring of Honor thing was really cool at halftime and It was it was just a really fun almost felt like a regular season atmosphere and the stadium was really nice. You know the screens are amazing. You know you get to see the replays and they're showing the game as it happens and
06:01 Jake: they're using those screens in interesting ways. So yeah I mean it was it's I really enjoyed it. It was very very... very pleasurable and I know we talked about getting out of that soccer match that we went to and how long it took to get out but it did not take that long this time. I don't know if they figured something out or we took a different route or maybe because we stayed till the fourth quarter of a preseason game and there was no one else left. But yeah, overall, great experience, really fun I can't wait for the real opener. One little test of the new medal on stadium I put up. I can't go to the next game so I gave my tickets to charity. I donated them. And I gave my, I put up, you can't give your parking pass for some reason. So I put my, yeah I put my pass, I put just my parking pass. It's all within an hour. Wow. Yeah. Well, that was key because we tailgated. We got there at what, like 415, 430. And we were able to be in the PSL owner lot and set up our tailgate. And we have a tent, like a lot of people have. And we set it up sort of in the grassy knoll, sort of off. not within the parking lot off a little bit behind the parking lot on the side. And we did see people getting reprimanded by security for taking up a parking space with a tent. So that's going to be interesting to see as the season goes on if they're going to be cracking down on people taking up parking spots, not with cars. I definitely think they're going to crack down and I think, part of me thinks, oh, is this just the way it is and what should happen? I also think there's, as someone who goes to the game really early, I always get a parking spot, not a problem. But I would like to know that if I go to a game... Later like that I could get in and they used to shut down whole sections because they were too full So I'm hoping that you know, I'm hoping that I can come to the game not that I'm gonna come later But I hope I can come to the game And I know that they're also those those sections now are very popular and so they're gonna be packed and so I don't know If there were no place to tailgate, I would say it's a problem, but there was a lot of place to tailgate. They had this huge area that they left open. I'm hoping to leave it open. That was good. All right. Let's talk about the game. We go in. Beautiful stadium. I'm loving my seats. It's not crazy about the pricing. everything everything it is what it is it is what it is and it's modern day it's
09:03 Jake: modern day sports I went to the just as a side note I went to see a movie the other day the expendables oh yeah good mr. sucked they raised the price again it's $13 a ticket now that's New York City prices ladies and gentlemen who are you know downloading this podcast not in New York City $13. A ticket. Go to an IMAX, it's $21. So you know, it's part of, I know everybody's complaining about the price of beer. You know, $8.75, was it $8.75? Yeah, $8.75 for a 12 ounce beer. $8.75 for a beer is a lot of money. Well, it's not a lot of money, but it's expensive. But is it two times what beers cost in New York City? No, you go to a bar, you get a beer, you're going to pay five, six bucks. You might get a special, you get a two, three dollars, but you're going to pay five, six bucks. So eight bucks, okay, it's more, but so is when you go to the Yankees, so is a hot dog, so is a, you know, anything's more. So I'm not there for the food. I very rarely eat food at the football game because I stuffed my face in the parking lot for three hours prior. Yes you did. I did. It was wow. We had two grills going. We did. We had two grills. We're becoming pros. Yeah, we really are. But regardless of that, let's talk about the actual game of football that was being played. Excellent. I mean it's preseason so you know it's a lot But what do you like coming out of it since we lost the game, okay? What do you like out of it? I don't care. I liked that our number ones played better than their number ones I liked the way Sanchez played even though he had one fluky pick But if you take that one off the table just sort of a bad throw He's tried to force it in the first row of the game. He played really well very composed made a lot of good throws Picked up a lot of first downs when they needed it And looked very comfortable and came back really well from that interception. Our defense looked really good, could have looked even better if number 24 was out there, but they were not allowing any sort of rushing game for the Giants whatsoever. And we looked like we could run the ball. LT, not so much, but he came out of the backfield, had a couple good catches. which is Sean Green is a monster, he is a big boy, he's going to have a pretty good season. And I think overall our starters looked really good. Our second stringers and third stringers didn't look that great. The secondary is a little thin once you get past the... bunch of people at the top and uh... you know what was interesting to me was it looked like kellin clemens had a much better game mark bernell

He seemed to be in the zone with Holmes, and that was true. San Antonio Holmes did have a really good rhythm going with Callan Clemens. And I think the reason why they, when they went three wide... When the starters were in the game, Brad. Smith was the third receiver and not even the Berniest calls was Brad Smith. So I think that they're just preparing for life without San Antonio homes in the first four games. And they wanted to see what that would look like. I personally would have liked to have seen him out there with the first stringers because you throw Kottree, Edwards, and Holmes out there and then you add in Keller and any running back of your choice you got a lot of weapons a lot of guys to try and cover uh but you know it i guess they're doing it for for the sake of he's not going to be there for the first bunch of uh you know a bunch of games, four games. So it is what it is. Yeah, I think they're shopping comments. I think they kept Holmes out because he's not going to be their first four games. So they kind of want to practice, I think, more the way the game is going to go. Because Sanchez isn't going to be in playing. He's going to be playing this week at a. at eight on Saturday and then you know you know how this last couple games go sometimes it's couple now i don't i think you play a lot but anyway the point they want to get him ready allen's i think the shop and then they want to make a look at seven ten mark when i had one for three fourteen didn't play well and i'm not that much but he really didn't play well either when he was in the game so Oh, a little shaky there. 15:01 Jake: Some of them looked good, some of them didn't. Um... McKnight to me did not look good. Looked rather slow and... Not even slow a foot, but also just slow. Like, indecisive. I guess that would be what a rookie would look like. But not impressed by McKnight. Um... You know, it's hard to judge Vlod, Dukas, when you're there live and you're not really looking and sure when he's even in the game. He didn't start Sloss and started. But you know, watching the game, Wilson had a decent game it looked like. He started on the other side of CroMardie and he looked fine from what I could tell. and You know, those are sort of the three guys who you'll probably notice. John Connor did get in the game and as we saw in Hard Knocks, they really like them. It's hard to tell the impact that a fullback is having on the game when you're not really, you know, running a full tilt offense. I'm just happy that at the end of the day you get our first teams doing well. I think the pick was, yeah he threw in a double coverage but it wasn't like he bounced off the guy and then the other guy picked it. So I think let's give our first preseason fools and knights. You know what, since it's preseason we're not going to go. We're not gonna go full deep on this. We're gonna go... Russell who I don't think is even playing with a team. No, he's like He's drunk on that on that juice drink to drank purple drink That's good. So, you know good games good stuff. We have a lot of We have a lot of stuff going on in the NFL right now We got done, you know, Tony Dungy saying he would never hire Rex Ryan cuz of his mouth Yeah, whatever. Whatever. Yeah, the guy who the guy who mentors Mike Vick has has the balls to talk about Somebody who he wouldn't hire because of his mouth. Give me a break Go and I go somewhere go do something and I guess it's just so it's horrible to say and it's I just Wants to talk about it, but because there's two reasons we should one is because he was a quarterback from New York Jazz Two is because we're playing this team this year on Monday night. So yes. Yes far of his back. He's gonna play Like now was there ever any doubt really? I didn't have any doubt. I would have bet you a million dollars that he was gonna play this That's what makes a good a good game. Is there some doubt? I would have made you a million dollars like one million dollars. So this is his, I think, 20th season? 20th season. What an old man. I know, I know. So we'll see. He never misses a game either. It's quite impressive. It's very impressive. And maybe it's because he doesn't go to a training camp. I don't know. I don't know. Well that's his thing. He knows how to play the game. He knows how to just get out of training camp. Roger Clemens did that towards the end of his career with the Yankees where he came in and pitched for seven weeks. He's like, just call me for the playoffs. Oh yeah, that's some interesting, interesting, I just think the Vikings are better with him and I think that's where I started as a jet fan is that we play them, play them on Monday night. It's fun to hit him really hard. Um, I'm, you know, it'd be nice, maybe one old man will hit another old man, maybe Jason Taylor will hit him. Um, and we got a little, uh, old pool. pool.

Eventually- Yeah, but again, we were there in the fourth quarter of the first preseason game. But it doesn't matter. The point was, the way we went down wasn't packed with people. So if you took half the people we saw going down the other direction and put them down the way we went down then That other hat, you know what I'm saying? It would have worked out. We did do a speed test too. We were there with someone else, the three of us, and we told him to go down one way, and we went down another way, and we did get down faster. Oh yeah. This is scientific. It was a scientific thing. A, we're faster than that man is. Well, that's true. And, but B, I mean, it wasn't like he was like minutes behind, he was about 30 seconds behind. But we also had parachutes, like I said. it. and blow up dolls right um and blow up dolls right um and that just it's too bad i i already named the episode because and blow up dolls would be such a good name to the episode that's gonna be the name of the episode uh i don't think is it like hard coded somewhere hard coded i've literally it's encoded in a rock that sucks yep um Alright, so the only other thing, we got one more thing, is we got an upcoming game on Saturday night. So, I'm just saying that, because I actually didn't know it until about an hour ago. I hadn't paid attention to when they were playing, and I'm like, wait, Monday, are they playing on the title? It didn't, it's... Go ahead, I'm sorry. It's Saturday at 8, so, awesome. Saturday at 8, and we're playing the Carolina Panthers? Yep. And didn't, wasn't there some... some news about how the the Jets were gonna sort of rejigger the way that they you know the first stringers played almost the first whole first half I think they played the whole first half I think they're gonna play less in game two from what I read So wait, the first stringers are going to play less than half? That's what I thought I had read somewhere. Well you know what? We'll find out tonight on Hard Knocks. I don't think we'll find that out tonight on Hard Knocks, but we'll see.

You know, I do love going to games and I go to all that I can, every game and then some I go on the road. But I also, I love watching on TV. Like, to me, they're just two great takes because watching on TV is just a different experience and, you know, you get just so much, it's awesome. So after going to a game, I'm always kind of psyched to go back and... I'm like, oh, I can't wait to go back to the stadium. So it's kind of keeps me coming and going. There's, if anyone was at the stadium, you can tweet at us, but they have those new fried stands. So they have fried chicken fingers and French fries and maybe clam strips. But they also had fried, it said fried, and then it said dogs, which I guess meant hot dogs. But it was weird. to have them write under like those two words under each other because it was like fried dogs. That's that's disgusting. No, that's no good. Um, no, what I love is that right where we are and I don't know where everybody else sits or whatever, but ours is you go up these couple stairs, you you literally go into the bathroom, the men's bathroom. the indoor and when you come out you're right at the stand to buy more beer and then it's kind of like a little circle. There's a circle. You just go up into the bathroom, deposit some beer, go grab some normal ones and come back and you can literally do the whole thing in like seconds. Other than the staff just doing it too slow, they need to like, they need to hand out Um... I don't know uppers or whatever speed mess whatever to everybody because they're just like you take your credit card

If you didn't, well credit cards, first of all I don't think they cook credit cards. No they did. Towards the end. Oh, but in those cash lines they'd be like if you didn't have you know your money out, your ID out, and you know if you didn't know the rules it was like the soup nazi. Yeah it was. They were like no no beer for you. No chocolate chip cookie for you. You had to be like Two chocolate, two cookies and a hot chocolate. Here you go. Here's my ID. We don't need an ID. I don't care. Here it is. And now it's like, hey, welcome to New Maryland Stadium. How may I make your pleasure by experience? Well, at least they have flat screen TVs that you can look at while you're standing there. Yeah, no, I mean, all that is really awesome. And the lit up at night, the green. I mean, I don't, you know, again, it's not a cheap, it's not a cheap thing anymore. But if you get a chance to go, go to a game. Yeah, you definitely should try. And the one last thing I'll I'll leave you with is that it does feel like a jet stadium. When you're in the stadium and when you're. Outside, it was a Jet Home game, although although they were playing the Giants, it really felt like a Jets stadium. It did not feel like Giants Stadium with some green shit all over it. It felt like a real Jets stadium. And I assume, you know, when the Giants play it will feel like Giants Stadium. But it was really cool to be at the stadium where it did feel like it was really the Jets home. stadium. Like it was lit up in green and there was no giant stadium written on the top of it and there was no you know, red and blue seats. It was, you know, it really had the feel of being at a home game which I think is going to be pretty awesome. Yeah, I know. And everything about it was awesome.
