09 Justin: The best place to be is when expectations are high. Get used to it. It's always going to be that way. Jake: 10, 3, 2, 1, 10, 11, 13! You done? This is the start of our stop. I'm seriously recording. There you go. Welcome to the Jet Kingdom podcast. So I'm just running New York Jets podcast on the interwebs. I'm Jake and joining me is one big prick. How you doing? Justin! We... I would like... Those aren't, uh... you who weren't here for the two minutes prior to us starting recording. 10 minutes of your bullshit. We have been literally arguing back and forth for the last 10 minutes. About everything. From the state of your desk to everything. But that is not what we're going to talk about in the podcast. I do have a smile on my face. That's true. Because we're... over a week and a half removed from the championship weekend. So let's talk about the agenda for today. We're going to talk something about the Steelers game. Talk a little bit about the Hall of Fame and one who might be in. Then we're going to make our Super Bowl, we'll tell a Super Bowl, make our predictions. Thank our picks. I'm laughing, I'm sorry, I'm looking at our agenda right now at their first bullet point. Shittiest place on earth. That's mine. Can we just start there? Yes. People know where we're going. Yeah, so I, so let's, okay, let's just go back to this weekend. I went to the game. Last weekend. Not last weekend, two weekends ago. The Pittsburgh Steelers. I went to the game. I did not. I drove out on Saturday with my wife. We stayed in the nice Caribbean-styled, Caribbean-themed Victorian bed and breakfast. In Pittsburgh. In Pittsburgh. It literally just blew your mind. But fine. Everything was great. The next day we go, I'm not gonna talk about the whole whatever, we went to bars, they still smoke in Pittsburgh in bars, who knew? I don't know, I'm from New York, they don't do that here anymore. You know, we go razz around town, walk around having dinner, whatever. From the moment we stayed, we watched the rest, we stayed in the hotel, we were literally two walks away from the stadium. Great, like, great location. We decided to walk, you know, walk down 30 minutes prior to the game. And from the minute, from the minute walking out the front door of this bed and breakfast, walking down the street, again, me and my wife, going to the game, people were fucking in our face, yelling, putting their fingers in our face, fuck you, fuck you, Jets fans, you guys are going to fucking lose, you guys, I mean, women. Children. It wasn't children but it was everybody else and not like from afar
01 Jake: I'm going up close in your face like this fuck yeah I have never I've been to we went to the Patriots game let's just put in this you heard all our complaints about the Patriots they're classy they are Saints compared to what happened in Pittsburgh and nothing from the time we got everything yelling in our ears hitting us with with with with the terrible towel. I sat almost motionless for three hours. I didn't drink at the game. I went to the bathroom at halftime. The night was the big trough and then watching people like follow themselves drunk into the trough. This one guy literally like he just stood there for like 10 minutes then like fell. The trough is awesome. Buffalo has the trough. Oh, trough. Trough. It's trough, isn't it? You said it correctly, didn't I? I don't know. Isn't it trough? We'll take it. We'll make it look sound better in post. Anyway, so that was my experience at the game. But you didn't get thrown into the trough? You know, I will say there's no physical anything, but there was a guy who sat right behind us screaming like in our, like in the back of your head for the entire time. I know the guy sat here screaming and that's sort of towards us, but again, never, never. No security guards. Really bad way out of the stadium. Really? It's a new one. It makes me... Is it nice at least, the stadium? No. What if you went in neutral colors? Would you have had a different opinion? It's not about that. It's like the getting up to the section we're in. Like the stairways are like this big. So you can't even pack, like only one person up or down at the same time. That type of stuff. The things were cramped. Like there was no... We're all piled in that you couldn't move. Like, it reminds me of not even the old Giants Stadium. Giants Stadium had, even when it was packed, you could still move around. It again, for all the shit about PSLs, for all the shit about our stadium, it's still one of the nicest stadiums out there. The only one nicer I've been to personally is Indie. Indie Stadium is beautiful. But it's also indoors, so it's a different type of stadium. Like, it's big open, like, hangout stadium, because of these huge walkways and stuff, because it's indoors. And so, you know, there's like concerts going on. But other than that, anyway, so let's let's talk a little bit about the game. To be honest, I've spent at least the last 10, 15 days trying to forget that game. I already did. Yeah, you forgot it? Yeah. We lost. It's gone. It's totally gone. A few things. One is. I mean, after the half, I basically didn't think we were going to win the game. When you're down by 23, 24 points in going into the... 24-3. 24-3. But we scored the last field goal within the last second. You know, whatever. Which means you're down 21. Right. But the point is, you're down that much. You're just, the chances of you coming back, that much... This is where my theory of wouldn't you have rather gotten blown out at that point?
00 Jake: You still like the heart wrenching. It wasn't gut wrenching. It wasn't gut wrenching because I didn't feel they could do it. I felt like even when they got down to those last two plays, right, we had a third and ten, a third and six and a whatever, and if they stopped them. Is there ability to walk right back down the field and score a touchdown in a minute 40 or whatever it was? I'm not so sure. So listen, I try to look on the positive side here sitting here with my lemon tea. We should be drinking alcohol. I do everything on the positive side. This is a team that went to the AFC Championship two years in a row and to be honest, it has a lot of the weapons that we need. need to not go need to have a home game. The whole thing about next year I know you didn't agree with this, the whole thing about next year is home fucking field advantage. I want it written on the locker rooms on the inside of their helmets we need home field advantage because that place was fucking hostile and it would be nice to have a game where we could use that to our advantage or we could get them on off-sides or we can you know yell the shit out of them. I want a home game, I'm sick of traveling for the playoffs. Fuck it. Me too, I'm sick of traveling. Well you traveled the one in your entire life. Sick of traveling to these playoff games in the middle of nowhere. Yeah. Yeah, middle of America with these nasty people. Anywhere- So are our listeners. No, no, no, no. They're Jeff's fans. They're nice people. Fucking Pittsburgh. I'm just saying. Shittiest place on earth. Can we talk a little bit about Booger Gate? No. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I would do it to you right now. If you had Boogers or if you would live beyond it. If you were the starting quarterback and were being paid millions of dollars. I just did it to you. No, you didn't. I did. I just put Boogers all over me. To be honest, I was in stands. I didn't see it happen. I saw it on replay. It looked funny. Whatever. It is funny. Just the kid fucking around. He's just... He's working boogers on people. I wish he'd played a better first half and stopped fucking around, but whatever. No, I mean, the thing about Mark Sanchez is he's a good quarterback, and that was his sophomore year. I can't wait for his next five years, because if that guy can be four and two in the playoffs on the road, imagine if we give him a home game or a week off or anything to give him a little bit of a break. I think this guy's gonna get better and better. So that was the game. What do you think? Where do you watch it? Did you turn it off at home? On my brand new 58 inch television your roommates, but okay. No, no, I'm not gonna quit well Televisions in my apartment and I watch your roommates apartment Wow That's me that kind of game you're a dickhead. Yeah, pretty much until we get to the pics Yeah, there was a bad defensive performance in the first half. I mean, everyone after the game is like, Shoddy, you suck. Shoddy needs to go. But, like, Shoddy didn't give up any points. He didn't like it. I actually did, Sam. I think it got sacked first. The offense got sacked.
00 Jake: No, Shoddy didn't do that. The players did that. Wow. Players players play make shot by shot. Naga make your checks out to Justin at it's so stupid to blame Coordinators when players play and it's like all right So they had an issue with the with the radio and he couldn't get the calls in well That's where the second year quarterback, you know, if that's Brandon Roth is burger. He's like I don't give a shit, I'll call the play. You know, he doesn't need to run over to the sideline and rush things, have a whole like, rushed scenario there. Can't believe Schottenheimer for giving up 24 points in the first half, getting their asses run over by Men in Hall. Huge judge. Which doesn't happen to the Jets that often, but Men in Hall, they rant. They lost their all-pro center in the first quarter and they're still running over us with backups everywhere on their offensive line. That's not Schottenheimer, that's the defense. So if we're moving on and we're going to pick our fool of the game, I'm going to pick the defensive line, I guess. Whoever's responsible for stopping the run in the first half. Those guys? Those guys. Yeah, I mean it just seemed like it was It was two halves, right? And really, if we hadn't, if we had just played the second half, but not had been down by as much in the first... They didn't score the rest of the game. I don't even know if they were trying. Well, of course they were trying, because once we came back within five and they wanted to try, I mean, they didn't score for the rest of the game. We also started sacking the shit out of Wasserberg. I couldn't get to him in the first part. Could sack him in the second. Like, picked him off. I mean, did everything you're supposed to do just couldn't play, you know, they sucked over. I couldn't stop a nosebleed in the first half. I can't wait. Just saying. In the first half. So painful. Why is it so fucking painful? It's just because you hoped and dreamed and... Oh, well. Another year. still a good team. Because you don't even care about other sports even. So you have nothing else. Nothing. This is it. I'm over. I'm done. I'm happy. I get to wait till August. And then I can do some work and do some other shit in my life. I don't know what that is. I cry a lot. Just saying. Alright. So we lost the game. We suck. We're going to come back next year and win this football. Just saying. We got a lot of off-season decisions to make. We can talk about those in the off-season. Let's talk about Super Bowl. I don't even have them all listed out. Yeah, it doesn't matter. Well, let's talk about one other topic. So Chris Martin. Yeah, what about him? Chances of him making the Hall of Fame first ballot. Well, I believe what I think the chances are. No, what you think is going to happen. That's all one thing. 25%. We'll be right back. 25% chance? Yeah, in reality. And Justin said it should be like 80%. Oh yes, as a Jets fan, yes. Well, 100% as a Jets fan, but I'm saying it's a tough year because they got two other winning Super Bowl or multiple Super Bowl running backs with huge numbers. If not for those other two guys, I think you'd be right in.
01 Jake: But those guys are sitting there and they're like... Yeah, those guys are also on TV. That's true, and Chris Martin has been very quiet the last five years. I know he's trying to like buy into the Steelers or something, but... They're like on TV, like hosts. Eh, Betes is. Betes was. And Fox is. So... I just, I think there's no chance to have three running backs go. I mean, again, I don't think it has anything to do with Curtis. It's just like, it's... If you're just the third best... that grouping and there's two other guys again if it was just Bettis and Martin yes Falk and Martin yes, but Bettis Falk and Martin No, I think I think I think Martin just because of the the way he played the no Super Bowls You know He just is gonna stack up against him So I don't think he'll I don't think he'll make it but I think he'll make it in next round of the round after Yes? Sure. How many years would it take? I don't know, I want to say just this year, but at least just no more than two. Right, two or three. It's like top five rusher of all time, had those consecutive seasons of thousand yards. I mean he'll be in the office. Never really got hurt, all that stuff. And we'll go in as a jet, which is nice. And we'll go in as a jet, which is pretty much... Which is huge because... Which is pretty cool. It doesn't happen a lot. No, it doesn't. Very infrequently. He's in the ring of honor thing, right? Yes. He's already in that? Yes. Maybe they'd hold off on it so that they can add one next year. What are they going to do next year? Nobody. Add like someone? I don't think they're going to add people until they deserve it. There's just not going to... There's no corvette up there, right? Noop. Alright, so let's talk about Super Bowl. Sure. It's a good game. It is a good game. I'm actually a little bit excited for it. I got a lot of wagers on different outcomes of it, so I will be watching it for that reason. As always, I'm excited about the ads because that's what Super Bowl is all about, is ads. Half Time Show is a... Black Eyed Peas. Black Eyed Peas was kind of exciting. Christine Aguilar. And honestly, I just want the fucking Steelers to get their asses handed to them. In most years, I go for... Like last year when I left the AFC Championship from Indy, I was rooting for Indy. I was rooting for Peyton Manning. They were class people. They were like, Okay, thanks for coming out here. I wish them all well as I left the stadium. You guys in Super Bowl great. This year, I'm all Packers. I'm sorry, I could, if the Steelers get knocked out, if they have life endering, whatever happens to them, that would be not enough. If they win and they have their seventh fucking Super Bowl, I think they should just take a moratorium and not play it for five years. And let some other people take some fucking Super Bowls. The only good outcome of having Ben Roethlisberger win his third Super Bowl ring is I can stop this talk about Icky. put him in the same class as the Tom Brady talks. So when they talk Tom Brady Peyton Manning, Steelers fans will have every right to say, hey, wait a second, this guy's got three Super Bowl rings too,
00 Jake: didn't you notice? Oh, and by the way, he hasn't lost his last three playoff attempts. And he's 28 years old. So what are you thinking? I have my score, I have my team, I know what's going to happen. You do know what's going to happen. I think we're going to pick an opposite on this one. Yeah, I think so. I have to go against my beginning of the season pick. That's just retarded. Why wouldn't you not just pick that so then you'd look really smart? If you pick the pattern... I look really smart anyway. No, trust me. Sitting from right here, the only person that can actually see you. And... I look really smart anyway, because I made a pick before the season and it's off key. No, but you're going to pick against your own pick with the stupid. Yes I am. I'm going to. I'm going to. I'm going to pick Pittsburgh. Not just the points. The points is two and a half, Green Bay favored. I'm picking Pittsburgh to win the game. Outright. with a score of 20 to 17. And I just think Pittsburgh and Green Bay both have better defenses than people realize, and I'm just, I'm sort of just betting on Roethlisberger, to be honest. Wow. I just think he's just really hard to beat in these situations, so. Picking Big Ben. You're picking Big Ben. I actually think that you're wrong. I think that... That's fine. Yeah, you're allowed. To be honest, the thing that we couldn't do, I think the Packers have a better ability to do. I think they can get to the passer better. They have a better pass rusher. We know that. They have a similar kind of, you know... very changing defense so you know they don't try to give you the same looks they do a lot of ups and downs and I'm you know changing people in and out I think they're gonna do that effectively and and Big Ben if you get a big guy on him to tackle him you don't just send Coleman or something you can take him down and strip the ball from him You know, I don't think Paul Mauro had one tackle on Sean Green for whatever. I don't think he's 100%. I don't think two weeks is going to make him 100%. I also think on that side, I think they'll be able to stop them better. And I also think Rodgers is a much, much better quarterback. He can eat you apart. He will move quicker and he will understand Devens is better. He's where I'd love to see Sanchez in another two years. that he can really move and shake and... He just doesn't have that arm that Rogers has though. He also doesn't have the presence. Rob... Rogers has a cannon. He does. He does. But he also uses it very well. He doesn't just sit, you know, far as a cannon too, but... and so did Dante Culpepper. You know, they have cannons, but they just throw the fucking ball down the field. He's a very much picky apart where he can. I think he will. I think it's gonna be tight, but I think the Packers will win. They'll win by, you know, I think they're gonna win by like seven, so I think they'll cover the spread.
00 Jake: So what's your score? Dang it. Score... I think I picked it. 24-17, something like that? So when you jet kingdom pick them, I am leading you by two. I'm ahead of you by two, which means I won. Yes. The season. But I can win by one, I can also win by three, since we are opposite. Yes. Interesting. All right. Who, but you also cannot win. No, I guess you're still third place. I mean Mike's good. He has 152 And he's way up there and Lawdog is in second. I will take third. Yeah, I will take I'll take third. I'll take fourth I can't go any worse than fourth. I beat you, which is all that matters. So that's really all around. In this. In this. One pool. One pool. Not other pools that we don't talk about. We should talk about them. Wait, wait, wait. But we don't talk about these other pools. But there could be other pools that I might have won against you. And there could be... One other pool. When we go into fantasy next year... You're gonna get your ass kicked. Yeah, because everyone knows you know nothing about football. Okay. You just know about the Jets. Alright, so... So here's the thing, people. When I start to win next year, it'll be like, oh, beginners luck. You'll see. Go ahead. Your second overall pick's going to be like, Jericho Kachri. No. Just saying. Uh, let's move on to the best part about Super Bowl. aside from the ads and the game and the nipple slips, the betting. The prop bets. Oh, prop bets. I do love me some prop bets. Let's do it. Can you explain prop bets to people? Yeah, so prop bets are those cool bets that you know you hear about like who's gonna win the coin toss, will Christine Aguilera hold Brave for more than six seconds, there's all sorts of fun ones, there's hundreds of them. I picked, I'm not actually, I don't know if I'll actually pick these or not, but I've chosen four of them that I really like that I'll bring up, and then you can bring up a couple if you'd like. So one that I really like is, what side of the ball will the players that perform the Gatorade Shower be from? Offense or defense? Defense is minus 200. offenses is 150 so Essentially for I think you know for defense minus 200 You know you you have to bet 200 to win 100 I yeah, I would think that wait so minus 200 You bet 200 to win 100. That's what the odds are. Plus 150, you bet 100 to win 150. Defense is heavily favored. It's funny because they both have very big offensive... I mean, I can see Aaron Rodgers doing it because he's the quarterback. I can see like BJ Rajee and Charles Woodson playing matches. Yeah, I guess. That's really bad. Can you pick a better one? Yeah, these are just fun, you know? No, no. Pick something fun. So, let's see. Who will the Super Bowl MVP of the game thank first?
04 Jake: God. Coach, family, God or teammates. God is the favorite. Oh, come on. Does not thank anyone is also in there. Let's see. It's probably God, team, family. It is God. God does not thank anyone. Teammates, family, coach in that order. Coach is plus a thousand. It's a good bet. Will a punt hit the scoreboard? No. Because they're in Dallas. No, that's a good one though. That's plus 750. No, because someone has done it in a game, yes, this year. No, in practice only. No one's actually hit it in a game. People have done it in a game. I don't know this year though. It's happened though. I don't think it has anything. It's only in practice. But okay. Will BJ Raji be on the field for at least one offensive play? Yes, definitely. They'll put him in on a fourth and one. You could win some money there. Let's see. What are some other fun ones? What will Fergie be wearing when she first appears on stage during the halftime show? skirt slash dress, pants below the knees, shorts above the knees, thong, g-string bikini bottom. Yeah, it will not be those last two because the NFL is conservative. But again, if anybody still listen to this podcast, I'd be very impressed. I like this one. How many times will Fox mention Brett Favre on TV during the game? over, under, and two and a half. God, I'll take the over any day of the week. I think that that's only during the game, right? The announcement, it doesn't count like pre-game or post-game or anything like that, right? Yeah, no, because they'll talk, they'll, anytime you mention it in a roger, you have to say, oh, he did such a great job taking over for the one we don't talk about. So I think he had at least one there. If he wins, they definitely talk about it, right? Like the Aaron Rodgers 1-1, Farb 1-1, I don't know. These are fun. Will the Steelers score in the first and second quarter? The first and second quarter? Right. Like will they score in the first half essentially? Huh. Oh no, sorry. It's will they score both in the first quarter and in the second quarter? Meaning they have to score at once in both quarters. Yeah, I don't know. I don't think they're going to score as much as you do, so I'd say no. Will the first half end in a tie? Only if it matters that it lands on my square. Which will be the highest score in quarter? The favorite is the second quarter. Fourth. The fourth is the second quarter. Second. Alright, which, which, who will the fox announcers say the better hair on TV during the game? Troy Palomolo or Clay Matthews? Justin: Palomolo. Jake: I don't know. They have to mention that though, don't they? Yeah. Who will the foxman say the better has better hair?
00 Jake: I mean, Palomolo is kind of known for it, but I think Clay Matthews is getting known for it now too. Wait, wait, another one. How many times will Fox mention lockout on TV during the game? That's one and a half. Take the over-under. One and a half? Yeah. Under. Take the under? You think they only mention it once? Yeah. Really? One time. Then I felt like I might be like, don't talk about it. So they'll just mention it once at the end of the game like... See you next year maybe? This could be the last game. And it's coming down to this. No, I think definitely twice, definitely twice. Exact number of QB sacks in the game. QB sacks. Goes from 0 all the way to 11 or more. You'll get five. Most odds are four. Five. Five is four to one. How long will Christina Aguilera hold the note brave at the end of the national anthem? Over six seconds or under six seconds. Yeah, that's a tough one. You know, they even have some interesting ones with like crossovers. I was noticing like there's some interesting like, you know, cross sport prop bets. Like will the Steelers win the Super Bowl and the Pittsburgh Penguins win the Stanley Cup in 2011? Oh, Jesus. like you could bet on. Both. That's plus a thousand. That's a pretty good bet. They have all sorts of fun like cross sport ones like which game will have the larger winning margin? The Super Bowl or Orlando Magic versus Boston Celtics? I don't know why these are interesting. These are not that interesting. It was funny! I guess. Pick one more. Well, I don't know. You have to go back up to the top. There's something about Christina Aguilera again. Alright, I like this one. What color will the Gatorade be that stumped on the head coach of the winning Super Bowl team? Yellow is pretty high up there. Yellow is 3-2. That's the favorite. After that you got orange, you got clear slash water, then red, then lime green, then blue. What are you, yeah I'd go lime green. What's the, what are you going to be making? What are you going to be watching it on your big TV? Yes, we'll be having folks over. Nice. The sleep department. Oh I didn't get my invite. You're not invited. Oh, okay thanks. I'll watch you there. Alright. We're gonna have all sorts of stuff. Like what? We're gonna have some salsa, some guacamole, some wings, some steaks, some pizza, homemade pizza stuff. Nice. We're gonna have all sorts of fun food and snacks. I think I'm gonna go either chili or a stew.
05 Jake: No third and short ribs. I might do third and short ribs just because it's fun to say a lot. It is fun to say. Third and short ribs. Alright, let's talk a little bit. The last thing before we wrap up, the pre-Super Bowl Jets fans are kind of still wounded from the championship game. Talk about a little bit of schedule. So during the season we're a little bit more active, but I think we're going to try this year. You're welcome. I'll see you next time. For the first time ever, since we're over 100 and something episodes anyway, then we're going to try to keep it up on a weekly basis. They'll probably get shorter, meaning there could be no news. You want to do a Jet Kingdom podcast every week? Every week. There's going to be nothing to talk about. It could be, hey, Jake and Justin, so what'd you do yesterday? Let's fart into the microphone. What are we going to do? If there's news, but I think just based on the way that things can go, I think there's gonna be lots to talk about. Or every other week. Well, do it as news arrives. How about that? Alright, but I mean if there's news for the week, we'll get on talking about it. I don't know. I don't know. Because we got this week to talk about whatever. There's always like for agency stars. And I think actually the CBA is gonna bring a lot of intrigue. Because remember, it's after the draft. It's when the CBA is over. So the draft is guaranteed to happen. Everything after that, no idea. So that's rookie mini camp, OTAs, training camp, and beyond is all up for grabs right about now. So there will be plenty, I think, to talk about come for the next couple months in terms of football and in terms of Jets and the Jets news and who they're signing. There's all sorts of stuff going on now, but we'll discuss that maybe next week. Alrighty. So until next week, go to JetKingdom.com, follow us at Twitter.com slash just JetKingdom and Twitter.com slash JetKingdom. Subscribe and iTunes to the podcast. Leave us a review there. Until next week, although it is painful to say, but it's got to be said anyway, we'll see you after the Super Bowl. And as always... Go Jets! you
