11 Justin: are high. Get used to it. It's always going to be that way. Jake: Welcome to the Jet Kingdom podcast. The longest running New York Jets podcast on the entire interweb, intertube, internet. I'm Jake, and joining me, a co-host for 102 times, good buddy Justin. Justin, how you doing buddy? This is a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, anybody can be beat, anybody can be beat on this side of the digital aisle. as our good friend Emerson Knapp or Bill Knapp on Twitter when I posted that we were doing the podcast all he had to say was can't wait! Can't wait! So we're gonna name it I'm gonna name this episode can't wait! Can't wait! Because I can't wait until Sunday so I think just because of that we should play let's play the... alright alright he's... you can say it listen Write the notes out for the show. I tell you what to do and what to say at what times We're gonna wait and I can wait and I ignore them You write them. I ignore them. All right. All right. We'll go down to your agenda agenda for today Talk about this week versus last week in terms of what we're doing to prepare for the Steelers We're gonna talk about some What's happening to some quarterbacks in the league like what's happening in Tom after his big loss? We've already talked about him boy talk about Jets injuries Pittsburgh injuries some news that hit the Jets wires in the last couple days. It's our last podcast which was live from Foxboro Then we're gonna talk about the divisional weekend make our picks throne picks And maybe we'll even do our keys to the castle for both games. Bam! I just blew your mind right there. Can't wait! They can't top a noseweed! Alright, so when can I play this clip? During the injury section. Injury? Really? Yeah, because Bart Scott, when he faked an injury. Oh, okay. All right, so let's... Everyone knows what's coming, so we're gonna make them wait for it. But they can't wait. It's the greatest thing ever. All right, let's talk about... First of all, there's gonna be in an hour and... Whatever, 35 minutes, there's gonna be a rally right outside where we are recording a podcast. We're literally recording a podcast live from Times Square, just an hour and a half before the Jets rally. Yep. Can't wait. Not from the Jets rally. No, that would be a little loud. But I might go. I might not. I don't know. I can't go. I'm doing work. Alright, so let's talk... Yeah, so, you know, the first time I was really talking about the way that the Jets and, you know, Sexy Rexies handling this week's trash talk and respect for the opponent versus last week.
06 Jake: Now let's just first put it out there. I don't think that Rex has been disrespectful of any team. He is always sad, which I think is even pretty bold to say, Bill Belichick's a better coach than I am, but I want to be a better coach on that day. Which I think is a great way of saying, you know, okay he's great, but I still want to beat him. So yes, Kamarti went off, and yes, other people went off. You know, Bart Scott has commented to Wes Walker, and yes, the Wes Walker thing with him being sad. This week it seems like it's all about respect. R-E-S-P-C-T baby. It's like the Steelers are good and we're gonna go in there and we're gonna try to beat them. It's not as personal this week. Although Holmes has already made it personal of course. It's his old team. It's not as personal this week. I like it when it's personal. Ah, I don't know. It's been personal. But you can't do that every week. You can't turn around and be like, This time it's personal. This time, this other, this next, wait, and next time it's personal until you can't do that. So yeah, I think it's interesting. I love all the stuff. This is like, this is the second greatest, what? No, this is the third greatest week to be a Jets fan. The third greatest week. Why is this the third greatest week? Well, because there's next week, which would be the second greatest week. And then there's the week of February 8th, which would be the first greatest week. This is the third greatest week to be a Jets fan. Isn't the Super Bowl like February 6th or something? Yes, so the week of February 8th. The week after the Super Bowl? Would be the first best week to be a Jets fan. The best week. I'm not going to say it. I'm just going to say that that would be the first best week. The best week to be a Jets fan would be that week if that thing were to happen. The week starting February 6th. Yes, that week. Would be the best week to be a Jets fan. Next week will be the second best week if we win. This week... How about the week after next week? I think next week kind of sucks. No, because between next week and the Super Bowl, those two weeks, it's like... Those are two weeks, not one week. I think the first week kind of sucks. No, first week you're gonna be basking in glory. I'm gonna point out some things. First of all, this has come up in the news and post interview stuff. Rex is now 4-1 as a head coach for the New York Jets. The Jets are now going to the AFC Championship twice in two years. The only team of everybody in this round that's still there. That was there last year. That was there last year. That's pretty impressive. I mean, if you just said that about another team and not the Jets being a big fucking homer that you are, you would say that's an impressive stat. Let me hit you with another one. Do it. Do you know what the record is? How? That's all. Do you know what the record is? That was good. For most road playoff victories by a starting quarterback. Yeah, it's four. It's four. Yes. That's ridiculous. Wait, so I knew. Yes. And Joe Flacco almost broke it two weeks ago. He was a quarter away. There's a bunch of guys who have four. It says... It says two things. It says one, you can win on the road in the playoffs. That's pretty good.
03 Jake: It also says you don't play at home very often in the playoffs. Because Tom Brady has 14 playoff victories. How does he not have that record? Because he doesn't know. Yeah, because teams that win generally start at home. It's a little bit of a misfirm. All right. So speaking of Tom Brady. Speaking of the Golden Boy. He's having surgery on his foot. Why do I care about this news? Well, he's got a little stress fracture on his foot. Either we hurt him, which is cool, or he was hurt when we played him and they're using it as an excuse, which is boosh. Listen, not that I want to get into the top best quarterbacks in the league discussion with you again, but Ben Roethlisberger has been walking around with a fucking club on his foot for the last three weeks winning games. So, you know, come on. The guy's literally like hobbled. You see why he's wearing a boot when he plays. And he's still winning games. I love it. Anyway, so we'll start with Jess injuries. I think there's only one new injury and then there's a lack of other injuries. We got people kind of getting better. Yes, we have Brad Smith with the groin getting better, questionable still. I've heard he's gonna play. I'd be surprised if he didn't. Drew Coleman, he was questionable. He played, and he's gonna play. Not that this is our Super Bowl, but you gotta put everybody on the field that can walk. Yep, so Coleman I'm sure will play. Hedda Bow again, is questionable. He played, these guys aren't practicing, but they're gonna play, I have a feeling. Jason Taylor suffered a concussion in the game against Patriots. Pass all the tests. Pass all the tests, he's back. He's playing. He's gonna play. He needs a little rest, so I think he's like fine. He's just old. He's old. Sit in the chair. And another stat for you. Gonna blow your mind. Blow it. It might hurt. Gonna hit you with a stat. Blow me. Excuse me. This is Times Square, but it is not kind of Times Square anymore. This is the new Disney Times Square. New Times Square. New 42nd Street. This is Jason Taylor's first ASC Championship. That does kind of blow my mind. Fourteen years in the way. Miami did suck. Isn't that amazing? They didn't suck actually. I have another question for you. Question for you. Answer. If LT and Jason Taylor is a big if, win the Super Bowl as a New York Jets. What is the percentage chance that either one of them will retire a jet? Retire a jet? Yeah. Retire a jet like... Can't. Go in a hall of fame? Zero. Not even LT? Not a... Frickin' chance. I think... I think... I think LT there's a percentage. It's maybe 6%? No. No. No, no, no on Jason Taylor. But LT? 1%. I'll just give you 1. But like... No. Unless he plays here for... Two more years and wins two more Super Bowls than maybe. Okay. I just don't see that. And I can see if they win Super Bowl. I can see both of them just retiring. Yeah. And just hanging it up. Yeah. Particularly Taylor. Oh yeah. But Taylor, I know he's a fan. I feel like there's no, there's not a lot of bad blood.
01 Jake: You know, Jake Taylor will go right back to Miami. I feel like there's more bad bro with LT and he could be like... Yeah, but he's not gonna... no. Okay, alright. And then the last injured is Bart Scott, because he was laying there, he was injured during the game. He was injured, man. He was hurt. I still haven't... Have you watched... You said you T-voted the game. Did you watch it? I started to watch today. I didn't know a lot of times. You have to get to the fourth quarter to see what the announcers... or if they replayed like the Fink. Yeah, I don't know. It's just flopping. So that brings us to... let's play this clip. Everyone's heard it, but this is the greatest interview of all time. They're calling it the greatest sports interview of all time. Ever. And we'll probably laugh through it. So we ,- we're gonna play Bart Scott's interview with Sal Pal and Toni. Who actually look frightened. He was like. He was laughing and then he was like. Oh boy. He might eat me. This guy is crazy. Mad backer. Call the number leavers. Call the number leavers. Especially you Tom Jackson. Justin: We have our back, he shot! Jake: So wait a second, just to be clear, this whole interview, the whole Anybody Can Be Beat came because Tom Jackson on the pregame show said there's no way the Jets can land. I just thought it must have been watching ESPN. Well remember, that was at 11 in the morning, they didn't play until whatever, so he'd probably just sit in his hotel room like, what the fuck? Or in the locker room. And then Keishan was picking, basically Keishan was picking some road favorites or road dogs to go do stuff. He picked Seattle, I think to maybe win. He picked them both to win. So this is his response to that. I think it's funny that people thought that this is like him just going crazy. No, he's going crazy to Tom Jackson. Anyway. We'll play the rest of it. I'm playing it! No, I'm not. Come on. Oh, I know. Justin: We're back, Keshaw! We're just ready to come back and show what kind of defense, what type of team this was, what kind of character we had. We take a lot of slack. We take a lot of slack. Dream games don't chance like we barely made it in playoffs. We're a good football team. It looks like this team played with anger all day wide Bart. For all you non-believers. Disrespect us. Talk crap about the defense and we can start best defense in the league. All we hear is about that defense. They can't stop a, no bleep. 25th of the league. And we didn't want to get disrespected. Congratulations. See you at Pittsburgh. Can't wait. Ha ha ha. Jake: Greatest interview ever. Can't wait. It's the best. It is the best. I could literally play that 1,000 times and enjoy it every single time. You can't beat it. First of all, he's a nutball. He's literally just adrenaline pumping. If he has one- Well he flies over. Well, they're all doing the jet fly. Yeah, but he's like, oh, ready for an interview? Let me go fly 20 yards over to South Valley. It was awesome.
00 Jake: Awesome, awesome, and awesome. All right, so let's get to some of the- Let's do some Pittsburgh injuries since they have some. Some big time players worth mentioning Harrison has a shoulder issue that he hurt in the last game against Baltimore. He's listed as probable. I can't imagine him not playing. He's playing. Palomado is not practicing, but again he played. I can't imagine him not playing. But he did not play well. Not look like Palomado. That hit, sorry, that tackle, no not tackle, that bump and run against Blue Rice. Ask a couple of guys against... in that game and it didn't look like Palomado. But he's not practicing, so he's not getting in the flow of things. He didn't play in the last game, which certainly helped the Jets. Having Palomado not on the field is always a good thing. And then Brian McFadden, the corner for the Steelers, also has an injury with his abdomen and his hip. he's actually listed as questionable, he might not play, but I can't imagine guys not playing. Yeah, I think even if, even as it's case you go out and you like can get a couple, you know, anything, you just go play. I didn't see anything on the on the Pittsburgh offensive line, but they were down to like no bench, no more guys on the bench up for the line, so I... I don't know what's going on with their line right now. Hopefully we can expose that. We'll talk about that in a second. What are the jet snooze we have? Well, Dennis Bird will be walking, that's right, walking out with the captain's pregame. So they brought his jersey out pregame. in New England because he gave a speech apparently the night before. That literally, Braille and Edward said, and this is one of his post-interview stuff, that I, you know, I actually like Braille and Edward more and more, and I hope he turns into a better guy than, you know, sort of his past history shows. But he said that this speech was so emotional that, like, he felt his presence. And I know it gets kind of... kind of whatever cheesy, but he said he felt this presence when he was playing like just this guy saying that If he could just play one more play not a game one more play he would give so much So Br a friend said when I caught that ball at that thing was a six or seven He said I it flashed through my eyes like you got to make everything happen and that's what pushed him into the end zone So I can remember when that happened When Dennis Berg got paralyzed, or not paralyzed, but, you know, severely injured, They will be re-airing Hard Knocks this Saturday on HBO.
01 Jake: Get your T-Vos ready. It's a marathon. It starts at 3. So all, I think there were five episodes of Hard Knocks will be airing in a row on Saturday getting ready for this Football Sunday. I will probably record all of them. I have them all recorded. I'm gonna see them. I think I deleted them because I needed some space. But I'm gonna probably record them. so that I can then watch them Sunday, like, pre-time I wake up until before the early game. Yeah, I... Just to get so pumped. I can't take them with me. Uh, I will take them with me. I can't take them with me because I'm on a TiVo, but if I could, I would put them on my iPad and I'd watch them. when I am on my road trip. Cause you're headed to Pittsburgh. We'll talk about that when we talk about it. Yes we will. So let's get to... We sort of hit on the divisional weekend in our last podcast. Is it worth just looking back and saying, you know, these are the four teams? Bears, Packers, that's pretty cool. It's only the third time, I think, in the history that they've played each other in the playoffs, which is amazing because I think they are the two teams that have played each other the most in history. Right. Longest history and longest rivalry. It's a pretty good matchup to have a division rivalry be. and have it be a rubber match, like they both won one game each. It's pretty cool to have that be like, to get to the Super Bowl you have to beat your division rival for the rubber match. Cool stat? Give me the cool stat. All four teams in the championship round were beaten by the Patriots. Wow. Cool stat? Only one of them. beat the Patriots twice. Oh. Patriots only had three losses all year. So is that a weird that the Patriots beat all these four teams once and that the one team that actually beat them back twice was the Jets. That's kind of a cool feat. It beat everybody. They were in the last round. They beat everybody but us and the Browns. Ah, maybe a lot of times. And you gotta say the Browns was... You gotta say the Browns was their... Was their Jets game. Like, you know, that we just kinda flubbed against the Patriots. Like, nothing went right, everything went over, kickoff or just everything went bad for us during the Patriots game. And Genius knew how to coach against, uh, Belichick and Brady. I don't think that's it at all. I think there's just some games where you just... You get knocked down, you don't get back up. Sometimes you put things down and you don't pick them back up again. So... more cool stats while we're on cool stats. This is not a great thing for us jet fans here, but the two teams with the highest winning percentage ever in NFL playoff history are the Packers, 62.8 percent, and the second best is the Steelers, 62.7 percent. So if the Packers lose and the Steelers win...
03 Jake: then they might get a better. Probably go above just because of that 100th. Well I mean the Steelers are, you know, they're now, if they go to the next Super Bowl, or they go to the Super Bowl, they're literally going for, you know, their what, seventh? Yeah. They won a lot. They've won a lot. So that does not surprise me. Ben Roethlisberger has two and one in the AFC Championship. I mean. It's like 9 and 2 overall. But that's crazy to say that there are 2 and 1 in a game that, to be there 3 times is amazing, to win it twice. Zab has a... he was there like 4 or 5 times and only won once. Right, that's what I'm saying. That's my thing about playoff wins, is that if you can... Normally, most people have a worse record in the playoffs. It could be great quarterbacks, but it takes a. Yeah, with the great win, he's under 500 in the playoffs. Yes, he is. Well, he also, he had that horrible streak where like every year he'd meet against the Patriots and they'd beat him every year. Well, he also didn't win early in his career in the playoffs. Right. He had a lot of losses. He was not very good in the playoffs early. Alrighty. So, let's move on to our picks. So, let's review for the year. I have... Pack your viewers. Good night everybody. Hold on. I have 135 wins on the year. You have 132, which means... I could catch up with you. I could pick against you. I have three games ahead of you. With three games to go. With three games to go. And I could pick against you. You could pick against me. Or you cannot pick against me. Statistically being three behind you is like 2%. It's not a big deal. It's a big deal because I won and you lost. Not yet. Not yet. You don't know what I'm going to pick. But I'm going to win. Okay. Let's go to the picks. Who's winning? Who won last week? Who won last week or who's winning over... No, who won? Mike is just killing it. Well, who had the best picks last week? He's like so far ahead. Who had the best picks last week? Last week? Yes. In playoff week two? Yes. Um, the Hun. And who else? Your wife. You and I were tied with two. The Hun had three. That's it, nobody had four. Okay, so my wife did well. Great. Your wife did well. Good for her, she's still behind me. By a lot. Mike's killing it. Mike is just 12 games ahead, I think. And my brother-in-law is the head of both of us. Yeah, I logged on, he was a couple games ahead of us too. I don't think I could catch either of them. Mike won. Mike, you won. Mike, you won. You won, nothing. No, you get something from the Jet Kingdom store. Yep, hasn't launched yet, but when it launches you'll get something. Yeah, you'll get something. Yeah. They'll be like, they'll be stuff in there. So, send us an email, Mike. Oh, there'll be t-shirts. Tweet us, Mike. And let us know where to get you something. Because we will send you something. I think we also made a promise that the Jets went to Super Bowl that we would do a video podcast. We did actually say that. We also said it would be our 100th episode, but it will be our 100th episode. That wasn't really in our control. That would have been, but we would have given you guys about that. It wasn't our control. We just didn't make it happen. But the video one we could make happen. We could. We could let them see us.
01 Jake: Wow. I mean, they'll be more disturbed by you than me. You're pretty disturbing. I don't think so. Anyway, I say I say... I'll do a tapas. Oh god. You know, I think everybody, everybody listen just throw a little bit in their mouth. And when they see it, they'll throw up a lot. Yeah. So let's make a pact if the Jets win this Sunday, that you and I will do a video podcast between now and the Super Bowl. I still think that'll be boring because it'll just be us sitting here. Yeah, but with the backdrop well, maybe we'll find some place fun to do it We'll do it live from like like we'll go to some bar or something. I don't know we will make it fun all right No, whatever. What do you think guys you tell us all right? All right? Let's get to this week's game the early game three o'clock Sunday on Fox Green Bay. So I'm going to look for your keys here. I'm going to look for your pick and who you think is going to win. You want my keys? Alright. I'll win your keys. So Green Bay heads to Chicago. I hear you. And Green Bay is a road favorite. In our lines it is 3.5. So Green Bay is a 3.5 point favorite. Interesting because they split the regular season and they only won by 7 against them the last time they met. And one could say that the Bears fans are saying this. That are saying, hey, you know, we weren't really playing our real offense, we were playing our pseudo offense. The quote unquote experts that have broken down the tape, the jaws of the world, said that the Bears played the most vanilla game plan on offense and defense. They weren't even playing any sort of scheme on defense. Thanks. and they held him to 10 points and that touchdown came late. So here's one thing I don't think is going to matter in this game, and I know this is a strange thing to say, I don't think home field advantage is this game at all. I don't think it matters at all anywhere ever. No, home field matters a lot in a lot of different situations. Not so much. Seahawks, dome teams, absolutely. Colts, huge advantage there. But this is two outdoor teams playing sort of in the same scenario. They made outdoors and it's cold and they both play in the cold. Like if it were dolphins, bears, in bears, I think that would matter. This Aaron Rodgers isn't going to be affected by the cold. They play a negative 10 weather. All right. Before we before we go ahead and make our picks, I think it is worth mentioning that. Before the season started that you're a deer do our annual Picks for the season. Yes, and my Super Bowl prediction is still alive It is my Super Bowl prediction at the beginning of the year was Green Bay Versus the Jets and I had Green Bay winning, right? So I wouldn't really bring that up yet because I can't wait to make I'm just bringing it up so that when I make this pick of Chicago. The home dog? I'm just saying. What were you doing by points? Are they gonna win the game?
02 Jake: Chicago? Yeah, you have their underdogs so you can be picking Chicago but not picking them to win. I'm picking the points. So, but who do you think is gonna win? I want your winner and your winner with points. Pick the better. Green Bay will win by three. Okay, give me that hook. So yeah, so you think that it's a it's a it's a it's a Green Bay win But they're not gonna win by more than three and right so give me Chicago in the pool Okay, give me give me the three and a half, right? And I think Green Bay will will win the game house Aaron Rodgers is just too hot right now I think interesting you pick it's gonna be a close game if you really think it's gonna if it's gonna be that hot I think I think that doesn't make sense. Well I think that they're two really good defenses, so... But then you compare quarterbacks and it's not a career or something. Well that's why. Because Rodgers will be able to actually score some points when they have it. Give me the score. I don't know what the score's gonna be. I wrote it down actually. Wow, you're good with this whole writing down things. Yeah I really am. And picking them up again. Uh... 31-30. Okay, that's probably the worst pick I've ever seen in my life. The outdoor game of the two great defenses against each other is going to go to 31-30. Yeah. Wow. By the way, you know what I picked against the Jets? What I picked? I picked 31-20. 31-20 was my pick, the Jets Patriots. What was the score? 28-21. Pretty good. Just saying. Whatever. Um... I think you're right, wrong and wrong. You're right in that the Packers are gonna win. I think the Packers are gonna win. I think this is one of those hot teams, hot teams have it and hot teams keep it going. Hot too much. Yes. There's also a new stat. You've never been to six feeds getting to the Super Bowl. So... It's a tough one for both the Jets and the Packers to get it suitable. Because I think everybody out there who listens to this podcast 102 times knows that we're not picking against the fucking Jets in the next pick. So who are you picking? I picked the Packers to win. I think they're going to be at more than 3.5 points. Here's the one. I don't think Cutler is a quarterback. And it's even showed against the Seattle game, which I only saw clips out because we were at the Patriots game. I just don't think he's a guy that if he gets behind that he can battle back. And I think if he gets behind and starts doing shitty things, he goes full shitty. 100% shitty. And if he goes full shitty, they will take advantage of him. And they will run back a lot of touchdowns. And I could see not one, but maybe two pick sixes. So I think it'll actually get out of hand. I think this game will not be as interesting. What's your score? 24-13. Thank you. I think the Packers win by a lot. So you're looking for the Packers. All right. Moving on to the game of the millennium. The game of the Google plexenium.
02 Jake: I don't know if that's a thing. The not rubber match. The rematch. The rematch of the century. of this week. All right. So at 6.30, after the pregame is done... So let's back up. I will be on the road at 10 o'clock in the morning on Saturday. You're leaving at 10 o'clock? Yes, just to let everybody know. 10 o'clock from New York. 6 and a half hour drive. 6 and a half hour drive. You're gonna get there at what, 4? 5.30. 5.30. That is cutting it way too close. Saturday. Oh, Saturday! Yes, Saturday. Yeah, that is Giving yourself some time. That's giving myself some time. It's giving myself a full 24 hours. Good for you Yeah, we're my wife is actually coming with me. She's the dolphin fan. The dolphin slash wearing wearing Sean Green He dumped me for his wife wearing Sean Green for the last two weeks. It has worked I have worn the same jersey as well and I will continue to wear it. Me too. Who have you been wearing? I've been wearing Sanchez. Green Sanchez. Green Sanchez. I've been wearing the green, the home, Dorell Rivas. My sister, oddly enough, got me a San Antonio Homes jersey and gave it to me the other day. And she's like, are you gonna wear it for the game? And I was like, no fucking way. No new mojo. She's like, absolutely not. Maybe in halftime if they're losing. Okay. Oh, I will not be doing that. I will not be taking off my shirt in halftime. Alright, so I will say this week it has been very, very full of superstition. I can't imagine. I'm blowing my mind now thinking if the Jets get to the Super Bowl, how many Jet fans will be like walking the same walk, eating the same thing? Like, I know we're all pretty superstitious. We try not to say I try to say I'm not. It doesn't matter. Nothing I can do off the field affects anything that happens on the field other than being a fan and yelling. Nothing that you can do. No. Yeah. So I just wonder if this is how we're getting I've been literally thinking about like the watch I've been wearing or that. So I wonder if the Jets get the simple what it will feel like to be like for those two weeks. I'm gonna eat the exact same thing every day. Yes. I'm gonna shit at exactly the same time every morning. So anyway I'm driving down we're staying literally two blocks away from the from the thing. That's great. Never been to Heinz Field. Are you gonna take in Pittsburgh the night before? If by taking Pittsburgh you mean sit in my nice room with a fire going and watching TV. You're not going to go out for dinner or anything? I heard they have some really good food in Pittsburgh. I will say. Like some good, like, crazy bars and food. Well, there are a couple close to us, maybe. After driving six and a half hours, I'm probably going to be like, I just want to literally just crash and hang out. So then Sunday I'm figuring... I basically got all day. Are you gonna tailgate in your hotel room? I might tailgate in my hotel room. I think that's a good move. Because I wanna watch the game. Yeah, you can watch the game. So here's the coochiness.
00 Jake: Do whatever you want and then walk over when you want. If anybody's still listening, here's the coochiness. Well, there's some guys that are doing... People are still listening. Yeah, yeah, no one's listening. I'm gonna bring my Jets chairs. Because the other thing that's been consistent this year is I've been sitting in my Jets chairs. Even at home, I put my Jets chairs in my living room. I sit in them. But you don't sit in them at tailgates. You never sit. it. But I sit at them when I watch the games. So I'm going to bring them into the hotel room, set up my Jets chairs to watch the first game. Because that's part of it. Are you going to wear another jersey around Saturday night? Like if you go out or like wear it down? When we got to the hotel in New England, we were wearing our Jets jerseys and more jet bags. No, I was wearing a t-shirt. No, I was wearing a Sanchez the whole time. Yeah, I'm gonna wear it the whole time. I wore it there. Oh yeah, I'm gonna wear it the whole time. Great. Why not? I don't know. Just asking. Oh yeah. Alright, so let's get to the game. Alright, let's get to the game. We're at Pittsburgh. 6.30 starts. I have a question for you. I have a question for you. Because people like this podcast because... I want to at least give them the spread. Okay, spread. Give them the spread. Three and a half. Three and a half. Moving on. I have a question for you. Go on. Comparison this game, the Jets versus Pats versus Steelers versus Jets, which game are you more nervous about? Do you think that, like if you have that nervous factor of one to ten, ten being the most nervous you've ever been about a game, one being guaranteed winning. Alright, here's the deal. Before games, I get premonitions. And I know, I feel it inside, whether we're gonna win or lose. Okay. And I knew, I don't get these feelings till like Saturday night Sunday, so I can't tell you now. I always just pick the Jets. If I knew, I'd pick every game correctly. You'd also make a lot of money in Vegas. And you're not making... Honestly, I feel like... about the same. Like I don't feel like the New England game was unwinnable or we're absolutely going to lose and I feel exactly the same way for this game. I feel like I feel like we can absolutely win this game. Like there's no reason why the Jets can't win this game. I feel like we can absolutely win this game. I feel that we have a better shot at winning this game than we did. Well first of all, first of all... Vegas is telling us we have a better shot at winning this game because we were eight and a half points sure okay Well, that's that's a good thing. So beating the Pats helps you out in that respect, right? So I mean had we beaten Pittsburgh last week and New England beat Baltimore last week. I think we'd still be that eight and a half point spread against New England this I don't know for being I've been Baltimore on the road or being piss around anyway. I believe I feel like there is a Just a couple reasons. One is we did play well against them last time. When we played against the Pats the last time, we got our asses handed to us. That's always bad.
00 Jake: If you want to compare wide receivers or quarterbacks, I feel like Tom Brady's a better quarterback than Ben Roethlisberger. I think Ben Roethlisberger, while can do the last minute drive, also has an ability to hang onto the ball too much and... If you get to him, there's a way to get to him and you can knock him down. We've played him before, we've sacked him seven times, and we've played him before, we've gotten the ball out. We don't generally do that to Brady very much. We didn't sack him seven times the last game. No, remember that game, it was in, it was, we played him in Pittsburgh, no, played him in New York. It was a home game like three years ago. We literally, they were doing great, I don't think we were doing that great. We literally just kept hitting him and hitting him for some reason. That felt like a Steelers home game. Do you remember that? Yeah, I did. I remember that kid. That was crazy. Pittsburgh travels very well. They did. Well, hopefully I've heard. Well, you get a yellow towel. You should get it. Is there a hand in the mouth? Yeah, they hand them out. I mean, they hand them out. What will I do with it? Step on it? Throw your nose with it. Rub it on your crotch. Wipe my taint on it? I would wipe my taint on it and then give it to the person next to me like, here, I'm a Jet Fan. I don't want this. After you rub your taint with it. After I win. No, after, just stick it down your pants, rub your taint, and then be like, oh you know what, I want this, here you go. Oh, it's a yellow and brown towel. Right. You can root for that, yeah, that's why you almost got killed at New England. I did not. No, he didn't. I did get checked in the bathroom. So anyway, here's the thing. No, come on, can we talk about the game? Yes, I'm talking about it. I'm saying that I feel like this is a team that we have... I think they have more weaknesses. That's the thing. I think they have more weaknesses than the Pats had. The Pats, I didn't feel like, had a lot of weaknesses. One weakness was probably their defense. That's the big strength on the Steelers. And they couldn't go down the field. Yeah, although looking at the stats, I mean, they had the ball for 10 minutes more than we did. They did more yards than we did. That's just true up four at a time. Yeah. And then watching the Steelers play against Baltimore, this wasn't a team that dominated Baltimore. Baltimore turned the ball over a lot, gave them a lot of chances. Steelers also had 124 yards, I think, of penalties. So they were playing sloppy. They were... Well, we were messaging each other back and forth as we were watching that game saying, we can beat either of these two teams. I think you were saying that. I was saying... I said, we can beat either of these teams. I was saying, let's wait till we get past the pass. So... There's a couple of questions. Who does Revas cover? I would think, even though I think Mike Wallace is Pittsburgh's best receiver, I feel as if... Heinz Ward is Rolfos Burgers guy. Yeah, absolutely. There's like a He's the guy who caught the go-ahead touchdown. He or the tying game tying touchdown in in that game 21 21 He's the guy who I think Rolfos Burger looks to in Third and sixth situation. Yeah, something like that. So and I think Cromartie actually matches up better against
04 Jake: Wallace, because he's just a fast guy, then Reavis and the opposite. I think it's the same thing as last time. Reavis is physical. Yeah, he wants to, you know, you want to get Reavis covering Heinz Ward and playing the physical bump and run, short type patterns. He's not going to beat him deep. let Reva let chromatic cover the guy who's gonna run down the field every time and you know Yeah, try and keep up with them give him some help over the top Heath Miller's gonna be a challenge. Yep Because he didn't play the last game and that guy's faith beat up beat us. Yep. So Miller's gonna be a challenge So we'll have to be playing a little bit better, but I think we have a play better and over the last couple of games over the middle of the field with Coleman and Eric Smith stepping his game up and I mean we we we haven't really mentioned like that game that DeJette's lost 43 45 3 that Friday Jim Leonard broke his leg so like they had no time to practice without the safety and the guy who calls all the place. Now they're like jelled again. Right. And not jelling. So I think that the defense again has become better, more of a unit. They've gotten used to being without Jim Leonard. And I like the Jets to win the game. I too like the Jets to win the game. Three and a half. Yeah. Forget. I think they'll win outright. You want my key? 100. 100, and score? And score? Key. Key first. Key first. Key first. Key first. We have to be able to run the ball. I know Pittsburgh gives up only like 65 yards a game. We've got to run for our own. and LT, Sean Green, Brad Smith, whatever it is combined, gotta be able to run the ball to get into some sort of flow and not go three and out, three and out, three and out. Because we gotta be able to run the ball on first down and get it to second and five or second and six, because those are manageable and keep Sanchez in a rhythm out on the field. I mean, even if it's not a running play on first and ten to get five, if it's just like a quick, you know, quick receiver screen type of thing for five yards, those are good plays I think against the Steelers. So my key is kind of on offense, be able to run the ball against the Pittsburgh defense and sort of vice versa. Don't let them run it on you. So I think we need to control the line of scrimmage. And my score...
00 Jake: 23, 16, check, check, check. Nice, I like the score. I'll give you two keys, because they matter. What we've seen about Marc Sanchez is he starts a little shaky, and this has sort of been his thing all season. Generally, who's good in the fourth quarter, the third quarter? Sanchez, who scores the first drive in the third quarter? Alright, we'll be right back. Thanks for watching. I'm Mark Sodja, and I'll see you next time on The Big Card. the Jets. We're a second half team. It's just the way we play. He gets better in the against Indy, first half was horrible. Against New England, the first quarter people were saying, and again I was watching from a, you know, spot close to God there in the stadium. I didn't see as many, but when I watched the replay of stuff a couple times, yes, he was missing more passes than I kind of thought. And there was one that when they broke Edwards and Holmes to the same side, and he literally threw it between them, and Edwards went to get it, but it should have gone to Holmes. Like... I don't know if that Sanchez was fault though. He plays tight, so... What they know, everybody knows is we got to get Sanchez into a rhythm. We got to get him started. Running the ball is good. But it's almost like take it off his plate early. Take it off his plate. Make everything easy. You mean like run back the opening kickoff for a touchdown? Yeah, well that's the thing. So it's clearly about getting Sanchez to play Sanchez ball early on and not get us into a hole. Because I think, Steelers defense with any kind of lead, you're going to get trouble. You're talking about Sanchez the child molester? Yeah, not the child molester. Not the one with the poop on his face. Here's the one that I really want to see. Here's the thing that I think that... If I could see the stat, if you show me the stat of this from this game, and I didn't know the score, I could tell you who won. It's turnovers, we need two turnovers. We need to get two turnovers. Plus two or two turnovers total? No, we need to get plus two. We need to take away it twice. Well, yes, it's four turnover or six turnovers and we have... four and they have two. I'm saying we need to get the ball away from them. We We got the one with the fake field goal, or the fake punt. No, we just tackled the guy. What I'm saying, the turnover went our way. He didn't run for the thing, right? I think this game has to go. We need to get two. What's your score? My score is, I think it's going to be a little closer. I think the Jets are going to win. Um... Dig deep. Stu has got a better D than...
00 Jake: Than... So I don't think we're going... They can't stop a nosebleed! That was the Patriots. Uh, I'm gonna go... 21. 21-17. 21-17, Jets win, JETS, Jets, Jets, Jets. After Falk misses one more, I don't think they're going to put them on the field very much. It's not a place to kick from anyway, so I don't really see a lot of field goals. They'll be touched down. Yeah, no field goals. Except they might do one from like the 10. I almost said 23, which means some field goals. Like three of them. Yeah, I don't think we're gonna be field goals. But that's it, man. I cannot wait for this game. I cannot wait. I'm literally, I will, for six and a half hours on the way there, I will listen to, hopefully not Adam Schonheim on the radio. Let me ask you a silly question. Alright, silly question. Hypothetical. Hypothetical, because it better not be what I think it is. Hypothetical. Yeah. Fourth quarter. Fourth quarter. Jets are losing. Jets are losing. 21-14. Okay. Down by a touchdown. Down by a touchdown. Yeah, fourth quarter. Under a minute left. Under a minute left. Driving down the field. Driving down the field. We get the ball, we're just moving. We're moving, we're shaking. Sanchez hitting guys all of a sudden. Yep. Boom, touchdown. 21 20 there's like 12 seconds left on the clock. Yes Go for two No, no, not a million years. Oh, I think that'd be the best move ever Yeah, such balls like you know what we have the momentum. We just tied the game. We're going nuts You're gonna pound your ass and get a two-point version. No, fuck it. Uh, my prediction. I'm changing my prediction 2221 Two-point conversion with no time left. Jets win. That's my prediction ever Rex Ryan would I'd love to see this Be like love to see us get out of control, but I don't think it will they've got they're too down to the team I think I control make me feel so good 11 point difference between the Jets and Patriots So I was on target. This will be closer. I hope it's not Hope it's a blowout. It won't be a blowout. I want it to be a blowout So either want to blow them out or get blown out. I know it's such a weird thing Why would you want to be blown out so that I don't have to go deal? I just don't have why you play but you play bet so what it's got rushing But at least you can say we played a good game. Yeah, you're lost I'd rather just lose really bad. Oh an AFC championship that everybody talks about how bad do you lost an AFC championship? Yeah, no one talks about that. Yeah, they do. Nah. All right, so That's our predictions. That's our podcast. It's a little bit long. Up over 45 minutes. That's good stuff. That's the whole thing. That's it. What else we got to talk about? We pulled that one out. I'm going to go get a goddamn snack. Go get a goddamn snack. Can't wait. Can't wait to hear it. Go to JetKingdom.com. Go to twitter.com slash JetKingdom. Go to twitter.com slash JetKingdom. You want to follow me? Hopefully it'll be a video podcast. That would be kind of cool. But subscribe so you get it when it comes. I don't even know if our system supports video podcasts. I don't even know how to do it, but we'll figure it out. It'll be worth it. And as always, until next week, until we get to see whether this is the second greatest week on the Jets Band or not, as always... Go Jets!
