09 Jake: The best place to be is when expectations are high. Get used to it. It's always going to be that way. Get away! Welcome to Jet Kingdom Podcast. the longest running New York chess podcast ever. I'm Jake joining me on the even half before a great game. It's Justin. Justin, how are you doing today? I'm doing good. How are you? I am good, but as you know, I have 48 minutes to talk about this podcast. Justin: Ah man, that means this podcast is going to only last 48 minutes. Jake: 48 minutes. So for some of you that might be absolutely awesome. For others that might just be a terrible, terrible strategy. But let's get into it. We're gonna talk about the game, we're gonna talk about the news, and we're gonna talk about- and we're gonna make all our picks for next week or for this week, including the one that I got right yesterday. Oh, I got that wrong. Let's kick it off with the game the review! Atlanta Falcons versus the- Lonely New York Jets. Yup. I gotta tell my quick story. B- Go. I went to the game. Yeah, you were. I flew down to the- You were there. I was at the game. Justin: Tell me about it. Jake: I wanna know all about it. I have about four minutes to tell you about the whole thing. No, so it was first of all some highlights. Highlights where we won, it was fun. The dome, here's the dome. The dome is the old metal hands with a top. That's it. Sounds great. It's the exact same layout. It's great. It's not as big. That old hand has great sight lines. It's like 60 people. We'll be right back. It seemed higher, I mean I was pretty high up, but I did get to go on the field before the game started, which was really cool, I was very, very, very close to the defense and all the big boys, the fatties as they were warming up. They were like five feet away, I was next to Sanchez, it was very cool being on the field as everybody warmed up. But I'll say a couple things. We were driving in, we were listening to local radio, local Georgia radio, Atlanta radio, and the announcers, sports radio, and it's going, all right, this is a game that the Falcons should win. These cellar dwellers are coming into town and we should just step on their throats. I love it. Oh, man. I agree. I was so... I agreed with them. So pissed off. stuff. It was incredible, the stadium was nice, again very old, it's 26 years old, it's getting towards, it's showing its age. It was loud but not extremely loud. I mean, I was asking you the whole time like, how loud is it on defense? And you're like, yeah, it was there. They do a lot to, I mean, they have, again, they started this rise up thing, which they did two years ago, which was a new replay. Rise up. Rise up. I showed you the rise up video with Lawrence. So cool. So. Anyway, let's talk about the game itself because my experience was great. We won the fans were very nice No one said boo to me. I mean not even they're not gonna say anything They never even I mean they look at me like they were they wouldn't say anything
03 Jake: They're they're cool. They thought they were gonna win that game. They call it out They're gonna lose. Yeah, that wasn't a game that they thought that they had to even really talk So let's talk about the game itself. Let's talk about it. No turnovers. That is Justin: Thank you, Lord. We actually, the turnover battle. And how about that? It was probably the Kia to the victory. Because we won on the last second drive and... 1 to 0 in turnovers, right? That was the turnover count, I think, right? We only turned the ball over 0 times. I mean, I think it's just a very long time. But I can't tell you what you're doing. We didn't and they only turned the ball over that one even though I think we forced like two other fumbles that I did not recover And we dropped a pick six. Yes on the first drive. Yeah, that could have been massive Oh man, but it, it, it, you know, it still started a little momentum there. Um, what can I say, Gino played what is. So far through his five game career his best game oh by far like miles yes not asked to do a lot but do it just enough to win the game I mean you think about it he went 16 of 20 that's on the last drive he was four four four so he was really before that last drive he'd only attempted 16 passes crazy We didn't have the ball much. We were kind of scoring fast when we got the ball. So like the time of possession is very skewed. I'm trying to look for these numbers. Yeah, they had the ball 35 minutes. We had it 25 minutes. It's crazy. It's just they went on these very long sustained drives. Penalty ridden drives. Jake: They had so many penalties that like kept the drive a lot. these fourth and ones, fourth and twos at the... I mean we only had six penalties the whole game game, but they were like key they weren't like small Justin: They were key ones, but I mean I thought that from. That standpoint they played pretty well the Jets defense I'd like to see them be a little more aggressive in the fourth quarter with a He's very good. You know, I haven't seen him play a bunch of times, you know, they're on TV a lot, but never against your team where you're like so into it. You're like, oh shit, this guy is fucking good. Jake: And you're waiting for him to make mistakes that he doesn't make. No. I mean, literally does not make mistakes. Justin: No, and he's got a big, big guy in Tony Gonzalez that's just... perpetually open. He's just open. He's just open. He's open. He's covered but he's open. Oh, fourth throw near him. He's open. Third and eight he's open. Third and ten he's open. He's open or he's getting held because he's getting open. Right. So like he's he's just always open and then he's got Julio Jones where he can throw the ball anywhere near him. Had. Had. Had. Because we we legitimately knock people out of games. I love it. We've knocked three straight games. We've knocked. CJ Spiller Jake Locker and Julio Jones who he didn't really knock out of the game
02 Justin: Although he did sit out a number of plays in the second half, right? He kind of knocked him out here and there and then but he's out for the season So this defense is putting on some punishment. I really loved what I saw the no turnovers thing was huge Still took one or two too many sacks for me, but made all the throws he was asked to make the running game was there They were definitely balanced which I like, I like to see a nice balanced game. Jake: Three headed running attack. We had all the boys back. Justin: Not only that, but I mentioned this to you the other day, and I will now mention it on the podcast. We are three and two. In the three games that we've won, we have run the Wildcat at least one time. More than once, actually. In the two games that we've lost, we ran it zero times total. I think if I... I'm gonna make that correlation. You can say it's not there, but it's there. It's real. Jake: It's just a correlation. I could also say that the number of times that... It's real. ...GenoSmith turns it over more than three or more times we lose, two and under times we win. And I think that correlation works, too. Justin: Yeah. But this one works better because I like the wildcat. I think it's I think it works. I think when you have the personnel to run it, it works. I think when you have the kind of like the architect of it in the NFL, not Tony Sperano, but the guy who worked for Sperano at the time, who's our current quarterback coach and David Lee, who wasn't there last year. It works because it's not about the motion with. You know, the handoff or the fake or whatever, it's the line. It's it's the it's the way that it's blocked is why it works. Right. So you saw it work really well for Goodson because he ran a counter action off of it. You see it work a lot for Powell up the middle because they're pulling off of it. There's a lot of really nice action there that I like that really just. I feel like it gets the running game going because it's a total run block scenario. There's no ifs, ands, or buts about it. They're just powering over you. Jake: It also, when it worked for Sanchez, it was a, is why it's working for Gino, which is in the situations where I think as a rookie quarterback or a second year quarterback, there's a lot of stuff going through your mind. It's a lot. These are I'm pretty much plays off now they used to two years ago or three or four years ago they would take Sanchez off the field completely when they put in you know though that package they'd almost take him off then like last year when they do it no he was never off the field he would sometimes come all the way off the field now in the first year yes you would know they would just split him out wide and bradsmith would run it. Sometimes they take him off the field. No. Justin: Last year they took him off the field. You have it reversed. Jake: Well, last year they took him off the field because they'd throw in T-Boe to do it. Right, which was stupid. But what I like about what's happening now and the way they're running it is... Okay, and the other thing they were doing badly about it last year and two years ago when I thought it wasn't working as well, was they would do it at a point where Sanchez... was like had done three good things in a row.
01 Jake: It's like he had just had three complete passes, it looks like we're moving, and then all of a sudden it's wildcat. Here, I think they're intersparcing it in points that it's like, it's either at the start of a drive or at a point where you need a spark, or it's not, like in scenarios where Geno's having a good rhythm, there is a rhythm to a game, and let the kid have a rhythm and go for it. it. I think Gino should be in the hurry up much more than he is. Like his stuff when he's kind of like that last drive of his, that fourth quarter drive, I was so impressed and I still am. I'm like flabbergasted that this rookie looked so composed, so Brady like, I know he had, he had everything going for him. He had almost exactly two minutes and three timeouts. And a kicker who can kick a real long field goal in a dome. So like the pressure was whatever. But this same kid threw two interceptions against the Patriots where he was trying to do the same thing. So like- In the rain. But he threw- Perfect conditions here. But he threw terrible picks in that one. He wasn't- that wasn't like whatever. I thought it was just- I'm so impressed that that drive. That drive to me- I mean normally if you have Brady- Rogers or Manning on your team. And they have two minutes. I can throw Jibrize in there. Oh, maybe, I'm not. Okay, maybe, I just don't feel like you're the comeback kid. But I feel like you threw those four quarterbacks in. Joe Flacco. And you have, no. And you have the minutes. Matt Ryan. No, you have the minute 90. Matt Ryan has like the most fourth quarter comeback in the league. Oh my god, I'm gonna kill you. I'm gonna kill you. A minute 50 second. You're net, right? Many 50. Yeah, and he's got all those wins at home. And so many playoff wins. Someone was joking to me about his numbers, like, what's his number? I said, oh yeah, it's double the amount of playoff wins he has. Two. His number on his back is two. So I just thought that if you have that time, like we always say this about the Patriots, you give them... a certain amount of time that's doable, they're gonna do it. Peyton Manning's gonna do it. So I'm kind of excited that now, three of his five games, he's driven a fourth quarter drive, and not all of them were the winning drive. They all were actually. Well, they were the winning score. That's considered a winning fourth quarter game winning drive I like I'm saying for the game-winning drive is you go down and that's the last drive of the game So two of them were the last two of them were the last drive of the game Justin: This is impressive. The other one was the Bills where they When you're tied or losing in the fourth quarter and then you go ahead and you stay ahead that is considered a fourth quarter Jake: It's it's a different level of pressure than getting down to have the last 30 seconds Justin: And it helps that Atlanta's defense was terrible. They were also just playing off or they're playing all well They're just playing rookies right there. They're playing I think they had like five rookie starters on defense or something along those lines to two rookie linebackers You could tell that they just don't have a good defense. Their offense is incredible, which is why I was still very proud of the defense.
01 Justin: They played very well. We actually got something out of the special teams. There were special teams in every facet. They blocked a punt. They returned to kick pretty well like Clyde Gates actually had a good kick return. Curly had a very good punt return. Jake: Two good returns. No, one kick, one punt. Justin: One kick, one punt. And we made the game winning field goals. Jake: Both times they get caught by the punter and the kick. Justin: Every facet of special teams was covered and they played very well for what I think was like the first time this year. Like, felt like a complete game. It just felt like a very complete every, every, the defense contributed. The special teams contributed, the offense contributed, everybody clicked, and you kind of needed it. That game, you need it. Jake: So one final note before we pick our night and play the game. Vegas odds have gone from 60 to 30 to 1. Ooh. So my 60 to 1 odds ticket I have. What are the Giants? I don't know. Oh, it's now 1,000 to 1. They're 0 and 6. I know we got last night. Let's go. Night of the game? Justin: Ooh, man. The night. Um... Huh. I'm- I'm hesitating- I'm hesitating to pick. I'm gonna pick a defensive player. Okay. I'm gonna pick the guy who was just- Everywhere and his name's David Harris. Okay. He was literally everywhere He was it felt like every tackle David Harris was there. He had nine solos five assists 14 tackles That is just everywhere get him on your IDP. So David Harris to me was was the player of this game. I mean, I'm not ready to give Gino a night yet. Jake: Okay. I wasn't going to give it a night either. What's your play of the game? Pick one, anyone. Justin: Yeah, I mean, there were so many great plays in this, but I'm going to pick the defensive stand at the end of the half. That fourth single, or first single from the one with no time on the clock. That was very good. The dumb, ridiculous move to try and run, which... was never going to work and the whole defensive line just stood that up. Second, my into the half with such momentum. Jake: My runner up for, for night of the game is, uh, the folk hero. Folk hero. Yeah. Um, but I know you're right. It again. The only reason I, the only reason I don't give it to him is because I feel like in a dome at that distance. I don't expect you not to make it, but still he made it. It's 43. That's totally makeable anywhere. You should make it. Right. That's what I'm saying. He makes that anywhere. And he was on the good hash for him too. And it was close. Justin: That's his good hash, the left. Jake: I feel. So then the player of the game. Don't you have a face? I know. You're such an interruptus. Fuck you. Fuck you too. Justin: You don't realize that you're an interruptus as well. Jake: Yes, I am. Okay. Uh, I think, uh, Cumberland. I'm going to give it to Cumberland. Big cum? Big cum. Big cum. He's a load. Oh, it's terrible. Oh man.
00 Jake: So good. Terrible. Uh, I, I'm, uh, impressed with his play. He's that guy who's like. Justin: Kind of disappeared in the beginning. Jake: I feel like he, when Sanchez. in the preseason I feel like Sanchez was starting to target him a lot. A lot. And I thought, ooh, this is gonna be a big year for him. Then Sanchez gets hurt and he can't disappear. And I was like, why? What happened this guy? Also, Kellum Winslow appeared. And he'd be disappearing by the way. But whatever. Justin: So I'm gonna get to Cumberland. So let's get into the news a little bit. Tiny bit. Tiny bit. Some injuries. Like... shockwaves last night. So Marty comes out that he has a non-contact knee injury and it's just the scariest thing ever. Because what does that mean? That usually means fuck ACL for the year. Comes back, it's hyper extended on the MRI. Questionable for this week, hoping he can play. Questionable. Questionable. All right. Well, that's not doubtful. Right. He doesn't play every down. He plays third down. Basically, he's a pass rusher. He also had two sacks of pace and cobalt. I guess pace, cobalt, McIntyre. Someone will have to pick up the pick it up there. Holmes is still out. And then we got the Winslow thing where it's kind of weird.,Cc He hasn't practiced all week, he was very upset on Monday night after the game. Like he like he wouldn't talk to the media. He was upset about his Role in the game plan perhaps he had a touchdown. I know a big one and he hasn't He's being a dick apparently Really? Yeah, apparently he's kind of being a dick He was supposedly very frustrated with the lack of playing time that he had on Monday I mean he was excused from practice by Rex on Friday for undisclosed reasons Jake: But isn't he on, I thought he was like kind of like, his knees are so bad that he's on a snap count and they're not gonna put him in. Justin: I think he's on a pitch count during practice, but game day he's like ready to rock. I watch him out with all sorts of shit. Jake: By the way, out of everybody who's on the field before warming up, he was on there for the entire time warming up. He did more warm ups and more stuff and he was running back and forth. Like other guys just came out like, okay, good to go. He was out there forever. I thought it was. Justin: You know Gino said that Winslow was expressing frustration on the sideline during the the game. So like he was Really? Yeah, and I and before that I would have said man That's not what I kind of looked at him as like when I saw him on the sidelines in other games He was that veteran guy that went and sat next to Gino during the Tennessee game and was like, you know Don't worry about it. Don't worry about it. And the guy after the Tampa game who said, you know, I got your back
03 Justin: Just look for me. I'll be there that kind of stuff. It's like Jake: And we like to see other tight ends getting to that was the thing, you know Justin: He kind of split his time with Cumberland and look you got to be either part of the team or you're not And I don't like this bullshit with these selfish players So get over yourself Kellen Winslow and get on the field or don't Jake: Alright, let's do a little quick recap of the Jet Kingdom Fantasy League. Oh, how are you doing? What's going on there? I won last week. Yes you did, and you're down by uh... What am I down? You're down by 20, but I don't know what's already. What happened? I don't know, he's already yet to play. What happened here? I didn't even look at it last night. Justin: You're telling me that he had someone going last night? Jake: Yes, someone going. He had Brandon Marshall. Oh, Brandon Marshall. That's not a good guy to be playing. I'm playing, uh, Cromartie Gra. Yep. And I am playing Chad Penny's shoulder. What's... We are very close in our scores. Who's his jet? Justin: Who's my guy's jet? Oh, he plays Alex Green. So he's not gonna get any points out of that. Oh, yeah. He's in trouble. I mean, is Alex Green still on the jets? Can we confirm that? Jake: Uh, I think he still is, yeah. Okay, I don't think he is for long. By the way, Jesse, if green gets cut, you better- You gotta go find a jet. You gotta go find a jet. I'm very happy that I have Gino as my jet. I played him last week, and I won because I played him. Yeah, that's good. I literally played the guy who- because I could then swap in another tight end. and get like... Although Cumberland had a very nice game. I know that Cumberland had a good way so I think I would have won either way. Could have played both. I could have played two jets. No, not doing that. Oh, that's the rules next year. Everyone plays two jets. Yes. Fourteen league. All right. All right. What's next? Let's get to our... Well, how did we do last week in the Pickham? How'd you do? I don't think... We do very well in this pick-up. We suck so far this year. Justin: So I'm ahead of you. I'm actually leading you, but last week I only had seven. Oh. How many did you have? I have no idea. Last. But I'm leading you by I think three games. I'll catch up. Because you got last night correct. This is, by the way, it's Friday. It was already a game. It's Friday, bitches. You got the... You picked... Yes I did. I picked the Bears. I didn't think 7.5, I thought they'd just keep it close. I picked the Bears. I thought the Bears should have won by more to be honest, but whatever. They won by 6 and that's not 7.5. Jake: How many times have you ever said this? I'm happier this fan than a Giants fan. Justin: Uh, zero people have ever said that. Okay. Jake: I mean, there's seasons over. Giants are the seasons over. Done, done six. Yeah, literally the first six weeks of the year. And there's you are done. Justin: You would have won. They would have like sort of had a chance, right? Because thenurches. If like Washington's playing Dallas this week, if Washington would have won, it would have brought the like the division leader to maybe being two and four, right? And they would have been one in five and the one game out of the division at one and five, but Now they're I feel like they have to be done. And let's just talk about ourselves as the Jets Jake: We had everything we need to have right go last week everybody in the division lost except for us except us
04 Jake: And so that's a game on the whole division. That was a that was a big one Yeah, obviously dolphins aren't playing this week So and the Bills are starting some guy that I've never heard of some dude really Like a practice squad quarterback. Let's talk about the rest of the games. All right. Start with. So, JK and pick up the game with the spread. Oh, Justin is off. I lead it off with Detroit at Cleveland, 1 o'clock. Justin: And I like Cleveland here, because I'm not sure Calvin Johnson is going to play, and they looked awful without him last week. And Cleveland's got a good defense, and you know I love Cleveland anyway. So given the 2 and 1.5, or getting 2 and 1.5 at home. give it to me! Jake: The whole offense works off that one. It's like four people cover him and then everybody else can do what they want. So I'll take De'Joy. I think he plays. Wow! On the road favored. All right! Justin: Kansas City is... That's why I'm doing so well this year. That's why you're well under 500. Kansas City is hosting Oakland at one o'clock. Giving nine and they're good and I like them to beat up on Oakland here Oakland's not gonna win two in a row They're not gonna be close. They gotta travel across one o'clock. Give me Kansas City too many points. I'll take Oakland Oh don't like the nine. It is a division matchup. I'll give you that. Yep, so I might be regretting that one. All right Minnesota is hosting Carolina Minnesota favorite Minnesota signing Josh Freeman, but starting Matt Castle this week I believe. Josh Freeman makes more money than both the other quarterbacks combined. Jake: Three million dollars for like the rest of the year. Justin: Yeah, but it's prorated down, so it's not really three million dollar contract or whatever it is. Jake: Doesn't matter. I mean, honestly though, I mean, just quick, because I know we're not having a ton of time. Josh Freeman is a better quarterback than those other two. I have to believe he is. Right. I mean, just... I've seen Josh Freeman play and I've seen those other two play. I would take Josh Freeman over this. For the record Justin: I don't think any of them are very good. No, but it's like Jake: But there's like a guy who has experienced and has won games and has made to the playoffs and then there's these other Schmoes Who have almost done nothing and Ponder said done a little bit of something, but he's also hurt So I don't think it really mattered and that castle is the biggest non-factor ever on the planet Justin: I guess, but they're going to go with Castle. They won with Castle, so they may as well stick with them. Either way, Minnesota is hosting their favored by two and a half against Carolina. I like Carolina. Jake: Oh, I like Minnesota. All right. Well, I guess I. Justin: Carolina has the front to actually like slow down Peterson a little bit. So make Minnesota have to throw the ball around. All right. Philadelphia goes to Tampa and Philly on the road is favored by one and I don't Tampa starting as a quarterback now. Glennon rookie fourth round rookie I cannot bet on that even at home even off a bye give me Philly with Nick Foles or
05 Justin: Michael Vick I don't care give me Philly agreed yeah their defense as bad as it is, is gonna have a good time. Alright, good game here at one. Green Bay goes to Baltimore. Green Bay favored by two and a half in Baltimore. We know that's a tough place to play. Baltimore just comes off a victory against Miami. Thank you very much. But I think Green Bay's too much to handle. Two and a half, not enough points. Give me Green Bay. Jake: I actually don't. I think Baltimore is going to pull this out. This is going to be the up and down Baltimore. I'm going to see an up Baltimore this week. They're kind of figuring it out. I like Green Bay. They're powerful. I just don't think they play as well on the road as they do at home. I just, I don't know. I've seen them lose to teams that they should have won. I think Baltimore can keep it close and or win. So I'm going to play Baltimore. Justin: All right. The, um. Oh, the beleaguered, the beleaguered Houston Texans are hosting St. Louis. Sancho South. Uh, if you think Mark Sanchez is trouble, man, Matt Schaub over the last four games. And I watched this one, the whole one again, cause it was in prime time. Me too. Boy, did he look bad. Terrible. San Francisco down a few players on defense, like a couple of big time players, starters, and you know, Man, did they make Houston's throwing game look awful. Jake: And he's having the same issue. He's having, he's all decision making. It's not formations. I mean his first throw is a pick six. Justin: It's like totally in his hat. He's like, shit, I can't throw a pick six. I can't throw a pick six. In the last three games. Pick six. Boom, first play, pick six. It's like. Really? It was comical. Yeah, it was comical. Jake: I was like, oh, I have to live through that. It's like watching Sanchez and going, oh, we're in the red zone. We're backed up against the 10. You can't throw a pick six right here because we're about to lose again. Justin: And then pick six, right. So Houston is home. They're favored by seven and a half. I'm picking St. Louis because I feel like there's gonna be some venom coming out of that crowd. So if things go... slightly bad in the first quarter for Houston, it's gonna go bad quick because of the fans. So I'm gonna go with seven and a half and take it. Houston might pull it out, but I'm gonna take the points. Jake: I actually think Houston's gonna be able to cover in this. I think they're gonna play much better at home. Yes, there'll be a lot of venom. They're gonna run the shit out of the ball. Run the shit out of it. Both running backs, going strong. If you got them both, maybe play them both. I don't think you will. But I'm gonna take Houston. Justin: All right. Here comes a fun one Biggest spread of the century Denver is hosting Jacksonville and in our little thing it has it at 27 I've seen it at 28 elsewhere Denver's home I'm gonna pick Denver. Okay, and I'm gonna lay 27 even though I feel like That's ridiculous. It is absurd. But think about it. Think about it for a second. Yes, I will. Denver could very, very easily score 35 points in the first half.
00 Justin: Probably. And probably hold Jacksonville to like a field goal. Like they can score so fast. And their defense is better than they showed last week against the Cowboys. Like Tony Romo had the game of his life and has weapons everywhere. Jacksonville has Chad Henny and no offensive line. So I feel like you could be 30. They could be, they could be beating this line at halftime and then just play even. Jake: from the second half. I just I just can't do it. 27, I'm gonna take Jacksonville. I don't know what'll happen. It could be a 21-point slaughter, but I just don't think it'll be 27. I wonder how many people are just gonna take Denver this week in their suicide pool. Oh me, good. Which by the way. Thank you, I thank you smart for me for actually keeping Denver until this week. I'm actually gonna continue keeping them. I'm not gonna pick them this week. I'm just gonna keep them. Why waste them here? Justin: Because I think there's other because they're gonna lose eventually they're gonna eventually but whatever alright, Seattle is hosting Tennessee and Seattle at home is giving 13 and a half and I think they win by somewhere close to 25 because Really? Fitzpatrick's terrible Yeah, and now he's got to go on the road in his toughest place to play and that defense is tougher than tough I mean that that's a that's the one that I might change That's a rough spot for Fitzpatrick. I have to barely do anything last week at home Yeah, I'm gonna take you do what you want. I'm not gonna talk you into Tennessee, but yeah, I mean, yeah, go yeah, Seattle All right We're now into four o'clock by the way. We've been into four o'clock. How many four o'clock games? This is my judge. One, two, three, four. Four, that's good. That's a good week. Four's pretty much what you're gonna get. That's what I want. Jake: Well, last week was two. Well, that's because I think there were four by teams last week. And there was only two by teams this week. I don't like, I think there should be at least one game. There was that one that went at like 11.30 or whatever. Next up. Justin: San Francisco's hosting Arizona. San Francisco is giving 10 and a half and I like them to crush and demolish Carson Palmer is terrible So give me San Francisco me too Sunday night a good one. Dallas is hosting Washington. Dallas is giving five and a half. It's a funky line. I like Washington Jake: Yeah, I think I mean if not for Tony Romo shootout if not for Tony Romo they would be Like he's both the best part of their team and the worst part of their team He's not even close to the worst part of their team. I don't know It was so that what he did in that game last week throwing the pick at the end It was I was the Tony Romo career microcosm. It was literally I said it at the beginning the game I said I can't wait for him to throw the top throw the pick that seals this game, seals the fate of this game, and then he just does it. How good is Peyton Manning? God damn it. He's very, very good. He's amazing. He is a maze balls. Like he can't even move.
00 Jake: He's a banana pan. Justin: He can't even move, and he runs that for that touchdown, and nobody even comes close to him ever to sacking him, and he can't move. Right. Like I just want Gino to watch it. Jake: But that's why that works, because nobody in the world thinks that's going to happen. Justin: Yeah, yeah, what I mean is like more than sure that that boot like nobody went that way no and we've seen that play work We've seen the Jets use it against the Steelers to get Steelers right segue almost but The guy in the pocket doesn't get touched right? I want any quarterback should just watch what he does in the pocket because he gets rid of the ball faster than Anyone he knows who's gonna be open and when and he knows how to not take a hit. Yeah, amazing Him and Brady are really going to get hit. They call a penalty Well when Brady gets hit they they call four penalties All right last one before we get to the three of them are on Kyle Wilson Yeah, last one before we get to a C East. We have the Colts going to San Diego interesting I believe that's German for Wells vagina. Yes, it is. Nice man two coming out. Yes So Indy's going to San Diego Indies for real Indies favorite on the road on Monday night by one and a half And I like the underdog at home San Diego. I like it. I think Indies like Overrated. Not necessarily overrated, but they've won some really big games two in a row now. They beat San Francisco and Seattle back to back. I feel like it's a letdown. It's time for a letdown. Like, it's time to come down a little bit. Jake: But Andrew Luck is the real fucking McCoy. If they could give him some time in the pocket, he'd be even realer. Justin: He is the real deal. like he's better than all these other like Russell Wilson is great, RG3, Colin Kaepernick, you know, all those guys give me Andrew Luck to start my team any day of the week. I want the real quarterback. Jake: All right, well that was a jackhammer pick, and let's get onto the thrown picks. Oh, I'm picking San Diego, by the way. You're picking San Diego? Yeah, let's get to the thrown picks. Justin: Thrown picks, all right, we will start off with Cincinnati in Buffalo. Give a bye this week, so we have a... Yeah, Miami's on the bye. So, Cincinnati's in Buffalo. Cincinnati's favored by seven. This is my pick in the suicide. Buffalo is starting a guy I've never heard of. And I've heard of a lot of guys. Like, a lot of guys. And I've never heard of this guy. I don't know why they're not just starting their backup. who finished last game. EJ manual for those not in the know is out for like six weeks or so. So I don't understand why the bills aren't just starting that guy Jeff Truul or tool who was their backup. They're actually just going with the guy off the practice squad which I really just don't understand. So Cincinnati just prevented the Patriots from scoring a touchdown.
05 Jake: There's no way that has to do Cincinnati. How much he thinks has to do with the Patriots give it a 50 percentage Justin: I think I had more to do it Cincinnati than I get to do with the Patriots The Patriots are scoring on other teams. Not everybody Again, maybe the weather had something to do with it because against us they didn't score just don't they can't play in the rain Maybe they can't I mean maybe maybe I I don't know but I feel like the Pats have scored this year It's not like this is the thing about the pants here. Yeah, well they have the pads They've scored 23 13 23 30 and then 6 so maybe it's like half and half But since today's got good defense they do they have a really good Jake: They have they like the Jets they have a good front rush. They can get that big without you know, Ed Rushers. Justin: They beat Green Bay. They beat New England. The only thing is, they're not that great on the road. So they've won three at home. They've lost two on the road. They're three and two. But I still think that with the fifth string quarterback on Buffalo, there's no reason to think that Cincinnati's defense couldn't hold this down. I got Cincinnati 23-6. Jake: I'm going to give... I think Buffalo will be able to do a little bit more than that. Maybe it's garbage time. But I'm gonna go 25, 13. 25? Yeah. Where do you get that? How do you even get to 25? I love 25. How do you get to 25? There's somewhere in there, there's a miss feel goal. What does that have to do with anything? I mean a miss picture point or a safety, something like that. Safety? Yeah, two. Thank you. Okay, that's how you get to 25. I guess you math not worth Justin: 25 is just a hard number to score All right Move right along we got this is a really good game. I think this is at 4 o'clock Yes, I'll be happy to come back to watch this game. This will be the prime time one on on the 425 dial. So we got New Orleans in New England. New England's actually favored here by two and a half, which is to say that Vegas thinks New Orleans is maybe a little bit better. They are undefeated. Half point. I mean, it's not three. It's two and a half. Yeah. So. I think New England is gonna be able to score here on New Orleans I feel like New Orleans is gonna be able to score here on New England It's gonna be to me a matter of who has the ball last and I feel like New England's better at that than anybody You know against Cincinnati, I mean that was amazing like did you see the end of that game? Yes. Yes Like it just started like a monsoon. Oh, yeah, and then it just stopped. Yeah, that was If that was the Jets, I'd be like, that's unfair.
02 Justin: So anyway, I like New England to just have the ball last and win by a field goal of 30 to 27. Jake: I like the bat, the ball last. I think they're going to score more. Although I would say I don't feel that Saints on the road are half the team that Saints at home are. So I feel like even though I'm thinking I'm saying it's 35 36 New England wins. I just don't. I don't know, there's something in these things. You know what, I could totally see one of those games. He goes on the road. He went on the road against Tampa Bay this year. I mean, there's just those games where just Drew Brees has those off games on the road. And I think this could be one of them. So I think Patriots gonna win. I think it's a high speed. I hope they don't. No, I hope they don't, of course not. Alright, so let's get to the game of the... Justin: Millennia. This is the game. This is it. This is a big one, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. Jake: This is the one to go... If... Well, we're saying the Patriots won't move, so it's not really that much. This is big. Justin: So, first of all, before the Jets won on Monday night... You know the lines on that Yahoo thing that we do come out on Monday. Um. Jake: I love this. Justin: This line totally flipped. Pittsburgh was favored by three. Of course they were. The 0 and 4 Steelers were favored to come into our fucking stadium and win by three. Of course they were. And now we are favored by two and a half. That was a five and a half point swing on one win. Well, I don't see why a Owen for team would be favored anyway on the road Except for it's the Steelers if there's the Owens the Steelers Owen for Browns The one for Jaguars or the own for it's kind of the difference between the own for Jaguars and the own for Giants Right on for well, whatever five. I want six. I want six. Yeah. Uh, ooh, just keep twist don't be So I mean Pittsburgh zone for look they got nothing really going on their offense is not really doing much You know, they did get their running back. Leveon Bell back in the previous game He did score a couple touchdowns, but I'm not really worried about her running back against the Jets I feel like we can stop anybody in the run game Don't try and run on us. It's not going to work. Especially don't run right the middle. We are much bigger and much faster than we've been in the last couple of years. We are back to that 2009 2010. Jets defense where we got big motherfuckers in the middle and fast motherfuckers on the edges and. Our middle linebackers are fast. Like the Mario Davis is shortly becoming an excellent middle linebacker in the league to the point where Harrison Davis in the middle are what Harrison Bart Scott were four years ago, five years ago. Right. So I mean, we got that going for us. Big Ben's got really one receiving option. Antonio Brown at two Sanders, Sanders Blob, whatever. Watch country have a big country. You'll have a game because he'll be in the slot against Wilson.
27 Justin: It's it's gonna hinge on does does chromarti player now because we're down milliner and if chromartis not in we've lost I don't feel like Pittsburgh, like I feel like Rex knows how to play against Pittsburgh for some. Not in the AFC Championship he does. Well we did beat them that year and that was a big big win to get into the playoffs. Pittsburgh historically kicks our ass. I think they're 18 and 4 against us. They travel well so Jets fans get the fuck out to the stadium. Cuz the Steelers travel I hated that was it four years ago five years ago. We were at the old stadium Yeah, and you and I went to the Steelers game and it was just terrible towels Everywhere and it was like where the fuck are we this is bullshit. So get out to the get out there And I'll go with my you know my my key here And I'll then let you sort of analyze the game before I pick my score. I'll say exactly what I said It was I guess three years ago now in that AFC championship game Ben Ralthusberger of holding the ball long. Dude. And he's amazing at doing it. Right. He holds the ball like 3 seconds long and wiggle away and get out of an arm tackle and throw a pass past the field complete because the receiver has had about 8 seconds to get open. Right. We can get to him. I know we can But the key is to not go for any of his bullshit and just run through him You have to just not go for his his arm He like he like don't try to grab the ball right just run through him right and Look, if it's a penalty, I'll take those I'll actually take one or two 15 yard. In the past, roughing the passer penalties, not on third down, but I'll take them on first or second downs just to knock them out a little bit, knock them down, let them know. We will tackle you if you try this bullshit Think we can cover them he familiar is not what he was he's injured Their their offensive line is not very good And I think we just got to be tougher up front on defense and that front seven shut Le'Veon Bell down Get to the quarterback with the four-man pressure like we've been doing Mo Wilk go after him
02 Justin: Oh, yeah, I think get after him. Oh look all day and then a couple little sneaky blitzes here and there It's really all about the DBs that are doing the blitzing, because he'll shove them off. He'll be like, yeah, way more than you. Just shove them off, run through them. Just run right through them and tackle the.- Jake: I'm going to go on the offensive side of the ball. Um... You know, because I think this this team will win or lose not based on what the defense does It will be it'll be done by what the offense does even the games that we've lost by so many points It's been because the offense gave the balls or gave pick sixes or whatever. Yep. So to me the defense It's the thing I'm not worried about it'll be good. It'll keep them down now is the offense. What can this offense do? Are they gonna be the team that throws picks left and right, that fumbles balls, that does stupid shit, is that gonna be the Gino? Or are we gonna see the Gino somewhere in the beginning of the game, we're gonna see, where is he on? And what is the game plan that they're gonna put him in the position? I think what's happening, and what I'm hoping is happening is, that they're now getting where they should be putting him in, what kind of position they should be putting him in, what kind of passes he's comfortable with, you know, the passes across the middle, the slot receivers, he's very comfortable doing that. I think, as you pointed out, the Wildcat at the right moment works well. We have three running backs now, all with different abilities, but all like our good running backs. Keep them in there. should be no reason not to be running a lot. And I want to see a lot of running. So this is the game plan. Game plan is what we did against, although I think, because I don't think the Steelers have the offense at all of the Falcons. The game plan's the same. Keep Geno Smith between, let's say 20 and 25 attempts. Let's keep the running game going and let's play incredible defense and this is a winnable game. And I think that here's the other thing, if we get out to a big start, which is gonna be tough, but let's say we get out to a 14 point start or 13, let's say even 20, let's say a 20 point start, this team eventually the Steelers, they're gonna look up at the store clock and they're gonna look at their record and they're gonna go, fuck this. They will, they will. They're, they're, they're just going to go, we're not in this anymore. There's going to be some plays like where they're just going to start playing Madden football, they're just going to be like, I'm not going for it. I'm four thounds where they shouldn't. Right. Or normally wouldn't. I would love, and I keep saying I want the defense to, to do more turnovers, but I'm more worried about the offensive making turnover. So let's take this as an again, I want to see. I mean, what's an average carry for carries for running backs? 15 to 20 carries per game? 30? One running back? Yeah, one running back. Justin: And NFL isn't like that anymore.
00 Justin: But like, usually you want to run the ball about 30 times a game. Jake: 30 times total. Total. So I want to see each of these running backs get over 10 carries. That'd be nice. Justin: So or I would I would take a couple away from ivory and give a couple more to Powell I think Powell deserves to get 15 runs a game Yeah, but I want to see I don't really need to see ivory touch the ball ten times I've seen really I've seen what these three guys can do and I think he's third on the and I want to see what Oh, what goodson can do? Well, I've seen what he can do and I think he's been ivory great Like I want all come run between run the balls good sink around outside the tackles. I've breaking news by the way what? Jake: Give us your score and I'll break it. Oh, did he learn it during the game? That's why he's freaking out. Justin: Maybe. I don't know. He's been suspended without pay for four games by the NFL for violating the league's policy on performance enhancing substances. Winslow, the team's leading receiver with 17 catches, will immediately begin his suspension which was announced by the league today, Friday. He'll be eligible to return to the Jets active roster on November 4th following our game against New Orleans on November 3rd. He'd been listed as doubtful on the injury report. Rex Ryan excused him for participating in practice, but declined to go into details. That's what it is. Probably that's what this was. Let's go talk to him. He's in his first year with the Jets. He's been dealing with the bulky right knee all season that kept him out of practice all week. So he's probably, you know. That's not good because he was a release valve. Sure. more. But at least now we can come on a little. That's true. Hey, Jack Kingdom Fantasy League, go pick up Conrad Ruined. I had him last year. He's on someone's roster. All right. We got to go. Jake: So the second tight end. Let's say let's get a good game. I really want to hear the fans this week. I want to hear craziness out there. Go for it. I will not be there. My first home game I won't be at. I know. Well, there might be a last minute cancellation. You never know. We'll see. Yeah, it could be. with the three that are going with the... You know them. It's true, they both can't. Be ready, be ready, be on the sidelines. I'm on the sidelines. And until then, we'll be back next week. Hopefully, maybe we'll do a Monday podcast, because we'll actually be here, because I was in Atlanta last time. If not, see you next week. As always, Jake and Justin saying. Go Jets! You
