09 Justin: The best place to be is when expectations are high. Get used to it! It's always going to be that way. Jake: Welcome to Jet Kingdom Podcast. Longest running New York Jets podcast ever. I'm Jake and joining me for the hundred trillionth billionth time or 198 times, whatever. Whoa. It's Justin. Justin, how are you doing today? Get up there. 198. 8 Yeah, and we're actually doing the podcast before the game tonight, so we don't have to before the Thursday night before the Thursday night game. Yeah, we might get this out before the Thursday night game. Justin: And then people will be able to know that we picked correctly or incorrectly. That's correct. I know, make me actually pick the game. Yes. How you doing, buddy? I'm all right. Yeah, that's how I feel about the dress right now. I feel like a little, such a bad taste in my mouth. It's terrible to lost the game. They should have won Totally should have won that should have won it could have won it got it All right. Well, we felt like they were out playing them in the first quarter. We have uh, Jake: We'll talk about the last game the lowlights the fools injuries We'll talk about some news and then we'll get into our week seven picks We'll go through all the jet kingdom picks talk a little bit about the jet kingdom fantasy league where we stand And we will then pick every game Jet Kingdom and we'll pick some thrown picks, make some predictions, only two thrown picks this week, double matchup week. And then we will call it a day. So let's get into it. Let's talk about the steelers, the O and 4 steelers going up against the 3 and 2 New York Jets at home. Justin: you And can I just have an observation? I'm gonna start on You're gonna observe or you want me to No, I have an observation. You have an observation. Gino plays terrible at home. That's untrue. He plays terrible at home. That was their first loss at home. Terrible. One of his better games was at home. His best game was on the road. Yeah, but that Bill's game was pretty darn close. Yeah, that was pretty good. Those were his best two games. Jake: Well, no, because I thought his game actually in the Patriots except for the last quarter was okay. Alright, so let's talk about it. What happened? Why did we lose this game? Why did we lose? Yeah, why did we lose this fucking game? Justin: Turnovers, turnovers, two of them. Not good.
03 Justin: This is a team in the Steelers that had not caused a turnover all year So they ran just enough to make you wrong just enough to make me wrong, but not enough to be effective You gotta run like four or five times guys. You roll it out there And we couldn't get the G know I mean couldn't get to did sack them three times and we did have them in the end zone for a safety I know which was which was demoralizing because it's like there's your best defensive lineman in Mo Wilk and he's got his arms around this tree and he can't carry them down. The guy is really just amazing. Um, Rothenst still a very good quarterback obviously he's really tough. Um, we hit him quite a bit in the first half and you know they made one big play they made the big Um, long 55 yard touchdown in the third quarter. There wasn't a whole lot of scoring. It was a very ugly game dominated by the defenses. I think our defense again played pretty darn well. Um, you know, we didn't really have a whole lot of penalties from what I recall. I'm just looking for, uh, yeah, we had like five penalties. It's not a lot. Um, one of them was a big pass interference. So if I remember correctly, and Jake: It's not one big play. That was defined by a big play, but if you looked at the Saints, the Saints got the ball back twice before and they couldn't get a first down. This came down to just not... This is the troubles we had, I want to say this is like last year's troubles, which is you just don't have an offense that can do anything, that can actually move the ball. consistently. You know, two weeks ago on Monday night or whatever week Atlanta, they moved the ball. But remember, it was fast. It was like it wasn't a consistent move. It was like bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, touchdown. It wasn't like long drawn out drives. In fact, one of the problems was we kept kind of giving them the ball back very quickly. We'd score, do something, and we'd give the ball back. So without the run game, without Gino sort of... Just seeing his receivers, seeing the receivers, just not making boneheaded mistakes. We can't control the game. Justin: They gave away a lot of points. Because, the interceptions came in scoring zones. Like, both interceptions were basically down on the goal line. Right. They weren't thrown from the goal line, but they were in field goal range, both of them. and one of them was just piss poor. I don't know what that was. I was pretty pissed for. Well, one was really, the first one was really bad. Like he threw into three guys. Right.
00 Justin: For Conrad Roland. Like you're throwing two Conrad Roland guarded by three guys. Both things shouldn't happen. You shouldn't throw to Conrad Roland and you shouldn't be throwing into triple coverage. and The second one he just got hit as he threw and it was a desperation kind of heave type of thing towards the end of The game which that'll happen to anybody You know, he just got hit as he threw it and threw a flutter ball and it got caught by the other team But the first pick was was bad and you know, you're going into half and he ran that very nice End of the half drive to pick up the three points. Yep to go in at nine six. We were getting the ball, right? I mean it was like alright, they haven't done shit against us. They're just kicking field goals. They're not gonna score, right? and we just couldn't you know, we went three and out on that first drive and It's a killer. Would you go three and out after you get the ball back? at the half, you shouldn't go through it out. You should try and sustain a drive there. You should have a game plan in place to actually get a drive going. And we gave them the ball like right away and then boom, quick strike. And all of a sudden you go from down three to down 10. And it's like they just threw it all away. They were like, Oh, you got to start throwing right down 10. We got to start throwing. It's not true that you got you got half a game left. You can you can continue running the ball. And they didn't. And the Steelers kept trying to run the ball they couldn't I love our run defense But you know we couldn't really Keep a handle on on some of the receivers. They had three guys go for 70 or more yards They were pecking on Cromartie everywhere he went they were throwing the ball at him didn't matter who he was covering they were throwing it at chroma right well I mean the you know injury report was he was hurt but he was playing he was getting beat bad though right you were there I watched it on tv where they I get the nice advantage of seeing slow ocean replays and such he was just getting beat off the line of scrimmage they'd make one move and he was too slow he couldn't jam anybody it was just it was ugly it was really ugly especially the sanders one he either didn't know what the coverage was or was expecting someone over the middle to help them and force the guy instead forcing him outside He let him go inside. It was it was ugly. It was not pretty You know, there were some injuries that came out of it that were not good my good sins out for the year It happened on the interception He either got blocked or was trying to make a tackle or something like it didn't even happen right like during a normal play Clyde Gates is out for the season Really was quite guessing where that one for the whole season. It was weird when you saw it on TV It was like he hurt himself reaching out for a pass with one arm Like the ball hit him in his hand or his wrist and then he started holding his arm and it was like did you know? Just break his hand with a pass all that's what it looked like at least but apparently it's his shoulder He's out for the year and then
01 Justin: Kyle Wilson also didn't play past like the first quarter. He has a concussion So we lost three guys in that game All three contributors, not sure if Wilson's gonna play this week or not. Well, this ain't no, it might be back. Yeah, you basically need all the corners you can get. Against the pads. Against the pads, you'd throw them out there. So not good on the injury front, not good on the game. Gino didn't look very good to me. Still, two interceptions, so we've played six games now and he's got two turnovers in five of the six. Yeah. Is that right? That sucks, man. Jake: He's, he's, and you know, I was talking to someone, I was actually talking to the principal of my school yesterday and he's like, oh, I don't like this guy, Gino. And I'm like, listen, this is, this is, I think when everybody says, well, you're going to get a rookie season out of somebody. sometimes you get lucky and you get someone we get lucky lucky get it yeah there were three rookies last year that some really just lit it up and and played at a higher level than there you know than you expect but i i'm still of the and now because our this ship is sailed dude right we got excuse you excuse me we have this is it san tansy's ain't coming back you got nobody in depth. No one wants to see what Matt Sims has to offer and no one cares. Well, there are there is a camp that does want to see. They're the same camp always wants to see who's behind Chad Pennington. Who's behind? It doesn't matter. I don't care. I want to see what we have in this kid because he's a second round draft pick. And I don't care if he never plays another down for the Jets. If we pick someone in the first round next year. So to me, it's like. because he's a second rounder. This is the this was the beauty of picking this, of picking someone in the second round is the second round can either be, oh, that's a great pick. You got him in a great round. Or it can be, don't care. He's literally a paternal backup forever. You know, so I just said we got to figure out what we have here. There are moments when you think, Oh, Gino, look at that. He's got it. And there's moments you think, Oh, you're just you're literally that rookie who just is not reading coverages, who's just not making decisions, who can't. fathom what's going on in the field. Justin: Yeah, so well, give me your full of the game, and then we'll move on. It's got to be Cromartie, I think. I think I haven't picked Gino for either of these spots yet, Fool or Knight. Yeah, you did. You made Gino the full. Oh, maybe the Tennessee games. Yeah. He really deserved it there, but I'm going to withhold from doing that. I'm gonna pick chromarti cuz he gave up that big play. He gave up a lot of plays He was just beat everywhere all over the field and for the most part I feel like You know the defense played really well, and I should be picking an offensive player here, but there's not too many to really pick like I don't know who to pick if nobody did I like could I pick you know Stephen Hill
00 Justin: good there's a couple big game or big plays that I thought that they screwed up like you know I'm gonna stick with crow for my fool but you know I'm gonna go back and recap the game and say man there were two plays that if they went differently the game would have been very different. And one of them was a coaching decision. I thought, I think it was the first drive of the game where we went down the field and got to the two and it was fourth and one from the two and we decided to kick a field goal. I feel like we should have went for it. Yeah. Right there. You just go for it. Who gives a shit? So what, they get the ball on the two. Right. Fine. Um, I feel like you roll out the wildcat at that moment and you pick up a yard. If you can't run for a yard, then whatever. It shouldn't be a professional football team. I feel like at home where you feel like your defense has a good feel and has already been on the field already. And you see there, they're going to be able to fly around and do some stuff. Pin them back at the two. If you're not going to score a touchdown. Um, Give them some something some confidence go up seven nothing three. Nothing's like you're not you know, that's not gonna work So that was a coaching decision and then the other one was just a bad throw by Gino Don't remember when it was it was on a big play at Stephen Hill wide open right down the middle of the field I know I'm by accident over through them by just overthrew him by a yard maybe like just too far like if he throws that so that he could catch that and stride that is a touchdown yeah all day every day. Well we've seen it we know that play. And I mean he just blew it and he threw it too far out there that's got to be a completed pass when Rothlisberger had that same chance he made that play right Emmanuel Sanders. Well I I Those are two plays. I agree, but that play that play is what we say. It's a 30. It's a it's a 33% play No, that that was that the guys wide When we say chucked down the field, we don't mean when the guys wide open. That guy was wide open Yeah, it by NFL standards. That's what you do Jake: Quarterback you sometimes you wing it and you just overthrow it. You should make it but that's a play that if they make Justin: The game could have been very different on that. That's a big play. Who's your fool? Conrad, Conrad Ruland. Why? Why the fuck not? Why Conrad Ruland? What did he do wrong? Fuck him. I don't know, whatever. He was in the wrong place. That's such a cop out. No. That's a cop out. Conrad Ruland. What did he do wrong in the game then? Because he got zero catches. And he was supposed to do something. He's targeted. That's terrible. That's such a cop out. Terrible. Yeah, fine. All right. Whatever. Little news. Miller may be back. Yeah, that might be good. Yes, practicing is good. Could use another body out there. Jake: I mean, can we just all say that since being this season? Justin: Crow has just looked he just looks like literally that it looks like that hip is bothering him It looks like now the knee is by it looks like he's a step maybe even a step and a half slow
00 Justin: Yeah, and actually I Was reading about how you know? Someone asked Rex how do you think crow is playing because it was pretty clear He was he did not play well in this game. He said he's playing good So they went to like, you know, those stats sites that like rank players and crows of like all the corners that Qualify whatever that means they have to play a certain number of snaps or something He's ranked 102nd out of 104. Oh Jesus and guess who's number one Read this, of course Jake: Maybe this has gotten beat a couple times. He has more touchdowns on him this year than you think he has. Like he's been beat. I've been watching his stats. Justin: Yeah, well he's still ranked number one. Jake: Right, but we would have always, we would have had Crow and we still had Revus. Crow wouldn't be on the main guy. No. Yeah. How's milliner doing this two games? Don't think he's qualified Maybe one and a half game. One and a half game. Um, yeah. Yeah Justin: Anyway, he might be back. We signed a couple receivers because we got guys hurt. So we got Josh cribs It's interesting at least is the name I know yeah, well he's got to take over and return kicks mostly because Clyde Gates is the kick Returner that's not bad. So yeah quite good Josh Cribbs like three years ago. No Oh Josh Cribbs like right now Josh Cribbs like sitting at home eating a snack. No, we're number 16 doing his Brad Smith impersonation So we got Josh Cribbs. Yeah, maybe play a little wide receiver. Maybe run a little wildcat with Josh Cribbs Okay, he ran it in Cleveland And we signed Greg Salas off of the Eagles practice squad, which is befuddling because he's out for two weeks. Like why would you do that? Why not pick a guy who can play? They think they're playing fantasy football. He's a keeper. We let Spadola go, right? Yeah. We did it like to pick up another wide receiver because that guy played special teams more or something then Spadola signed with the Dolphins Practice squad right so we signed this guy off a practice squad. Why couldn't we just sign Spadola off of a practice squad? I don't know if we tried to apparently sign him back, but he was like screw you guys you cut me I'm going somewhere else. Maybe that's why I mean it was actually up to him I may you think if like why wouldn't they try that instead of this guy Greg Salas? Whatever. I want to say the one positive thing is there's nothing is the rookie is the is the rookie On the line Sheldon Richardson. No Brian Winters. Yeah, he's better than to cost Well, why he's better cuz you don't know he's there. It's right cuz you know, here's knit number Well, you know Gina was sacked again a couple times. So Well, they are the stewards. I think that's the only thing that we need to think about is that Dick Laboe has an extremely good record against Rookies. He's kind of like Rex Ryan against Rookies. You throw a rookie quarterback out there and Rex Ryan's gonna beat him. Like it happens. We've seen it. We beat the crap out of Andrew Luck last year. Yup.
00 Justin: The only rookie to ever beat us was Russell Wilson. Right. And that's because we played in Seattle. I feel like if we played in New York, we might have beat him too. Alright. So let's get to the Jet Kingdom Fantasy League. How are we all doing? So we're doing good. You and I have tied for the first. Actually, I'm ahead of you. Oh, by what? By some ranking? Well, because I've scored more points than you. Oh, okay. As a matter of fact, I've scored the most points in the league. Jake: Oh, wow. Justin: Yeah. Well, back when you were like, I'm kicking ass in this league, you were all, I was all like, yeah, whatever. See you at the end of the season when I'm winning again. And now I'm winning again. Jake: Yeah, we have the same record. I'm not too worried about it. Well, can't wait to play again and kick your ass. Justin: You can play like in two weeks. Good. Can't wait to see in the playoffs. Who do you go up against this week? My this week matchup is against Chad Penny's shoulder. Who's two and four? Who's two and four when I look at the projected total here. It likes them to win. Yeah it does. Plus 11. I don't know why. I don't know. I Jake: actually really enjoy, I wish I could just take the best of CBS and the best of ESPN and match them up. Why is it like them to win? Why is it like them to beat me so bad? I'm up against Winslow Sweet Chariot, that's kind of funny, by Gareth. Gareth with his the funniest entry ever. and it has me with a plus eight. So yeah, I'm projected to lose as well. So there you go. But we're at 113, 121. You're at 92 and 103. So clearly we have this. Justin: Whatever these projections or whatever. Jake: Yeah, I'm finding it tough because of losing players. I went for it with Calvin Johnson. That was my guy. I was going to go, and he's not lived up. He's been hurt. Justin: I just made the first trade in Jack King of fantasy football. Yeah, how does that work out for you? I don't know, we'll see. But I did get to Mary's talents on my team. There are no more Jake: undefeateds. The Upstaters is still at 5-1 now, so it's pretty much the west looks very divided. You have Upstaters at 5-1 and then UK Jets at 1-5. And on our side on the east it's 4-2, 3-2, 2-3, 2-4. So like... Pretty much anybody's still in it in and our some pickums. Let's do some pickums. I already made my picks by the way. So I'm not making them as we pick them. So maybe that will help me. How did we do last week? Probably not. I don't know. I think you're three points ahead of me for the season. Still, that's how we went into last week. Okay, well then I think I got like eight. I got to fight back. I'm fighting back. Okay, we're both sucking. Yeah, we're sucking badly. So I got certain going against my seriously sucking like sucking Justin: Man-ass we're so bad. All right. Well, that's how bad we are. All right, so Seattle Jake: all right, so we're gonna pick every game in the in the NFL for week seven except for leave out the FCE which we're gonna pick in a segment right after called thrown picks
05 Justin: Right, they're only two games two games. You know, all four teams are playing two division games this week Big AFC East Week. Alright, so Seattle is going to Arizona tonight, which is Thursday night for the annual Thursday night crappy game. These games are crappy, have you noticed? Well, if you think about when they pick them, they literally pick... It's not the matchups, it's the games. Jake: Oh, I was thinking the only way they're going to be a good one is if something, some team that was supposed to be bad turns out to be good and that type of thing, but... It's the actual I feel like they just said it. Justin: I thought they just said it. I said it. Did you? How could you be ready? If you're going on the road, we had to play Sunday. Usually you're off Monday. You can't be. So you got travel Wednesday. and then you got to travel Wednesday. You got two days to practice and get ready for a game on Thursday Doesn't I don't think it's this is stupid I like more football, but can't they just do it on Friday or Saturday and do Friday and Saturday because of high school and college Who cares about high school high school? Yeah, why high school? That's why why cuz it's high school Because the rest of the country has high school football and on Friday nights Well, this is the National Football League. Friday Night Live, baby. Yeah, whatever. I'm telling you, that's the reason. Good reason. Now, let's just have a shitty game on Thursday. Jake: All right. Let's go up Thursday night games altogether. Justin: Just do it on Thanksgiving. Lots of fun. All right. Seattle in Arizona, Seattle's giving six and a half. Arizona is not very good. I like them. Seattle's defense too good. I'll take Seattle and the points. Yeah Jake: Arizona is not very good. I would love to have this in Seattle, but then it probably a 10 points, but I'll take Seattle Oh, yeah Justin: Carson Palmer two interceptions at least Atlanta hosting Tampa so Atlanta coming off the bye and they're bad loss to the Jets and Tampa still without a win, which makes me a little happy. I'm glad Dorell Reavis is on the shitty team. I'm glad he pushed his hand and is now in probably... I think I'd rather be on Jacksonville than on Tampa. Because if you think about Tampa and that coach and what they've done... That's a MRSA going around. Half of them have diseases. It's terrible, that's not where you want to be. Jake: They also had the league, the Josh Freeman
01 Jake: You don't want to be there. That team is not only they doing badly, and not only is that coach gone, but they're in like one of those, they're like, they're having a, so here's the difference. Giants, windlass, Tampa, windlass. Justin: Rather be the Giants much rather be the Giants are having a bad time. Yeah, but they're not losing it. They're not a mess Right. They're not a mess. They're just having a bad time They're a mess and they're a talented mess which is even worse, right? Well Giants are talented mess, too Yeah, they're not a mess. They're still like they're just they're still they're just losing walk in the company line. They're not leaking shit. Whatever But Atlanta, coming off their bye with tons of injuries. I don't know why, but I'm picking Tampa. The seven is too much, I'm picking Tampa. Jake: Yeah, no, I can't do it. I can't see another rookie walking into Atlanta. It doesn't matter. It took you match up the quarterbacks match up the home. They're coming off a buy their defense is gonna play better I just can't see Tampa Bay doing very much at all Justin: Detroit host me then. Oh, yeah, you got it. Detroit hosts Cincinnati. Detroit is giving two and a half You did crack deep. So almost 17th quarterback of the year quarterback, so I'm gonna take Detroit giving two and a half Oh, yeah, Detroit at home. I'll take it. All right, AFC or NFC East first place tiebreaker game Both these teams are three and three Philly is hosting Dallas Phillies giving two and a half This line fluctuated all week went from one up to three and now it's seven half I like that. I'll take Philly at home with Fools. I don't care. This is the Fools fold them game. Jake: I'll take, I don't think he's going to be able to continue this, you know, living on the dream thing. All right. Although I mean Dallas is suffering injuries. They lost to Marcus. They lost their past Russia. They lost. A couple big starters. I still feel like Dallas has, I feel like Dallas has more talent to get into a shootout. Justin: This game has a little something on the line. So this is where Dallas loses. Jake: Oh, it's true. That's what I picked six was two seconds ago in the game. Justin: So Washington is hosting Chicago and this is a Peckham. Uh, Chicago to me is too good. Uh, they can really, this is going to be a high scoring game. Just Chicago is a. much better offense than it does defense, which is totally backwards, but it is what it is this year. And Washington can't stop anybody can't stop a nosebleed can't wait.
03 Justin: You know, I watched that game last week and it looked like their offense was starting to come around like RG three looked more like comfortable. He was running right. Design runs moving around. Look good. Still wasn't throwing the ball very well, but still. Um, I like Chicago in a high scoring game and a pick them. Jake: Yeah. And the lines moved like it moved from a negative one and a half. Justin: Yeah. Washington was favorite at one point and then it's gone off lost. And then. Yeah. Cause these lines come out. So at a weird time, Chicago, give me Chicago. Jake: All right. Justin: I'm doing a lot of road teams here. One o'clock still. Carolina is hosting St. Louis. Carolina is favored by six. St. Louis is a hard team because they have, they're three and three, but they've... Lost every game they've lost they've lost by like 15 points and every game they've won They've won by like 20 points right so they haven't played a close game all year I don't know. I think same. It was just better than Carolina. No, I'm gonna take st. Louis and end the six points Jake: I'm gonna take st. Louis just cuz I think this is the game they lose close I think this is going to be a harder game than people think. I think they're going to play. It's going to be a back and forth game. I think they'll lose it, but they'll lose it close. Justin: All right. Last one o'clock. San Diego comes all the way across the country and faces Jacksonville at one. San Diego favored by seven and a half, coming off their big win on Monday night against the Colts. where everyone I think thought the Colts were gonna win that game. Not me. Andrew Luck's coming out partying me either actually. I listened back to our podcast and we both picked San Diego to win outright. We both had that right. One of the few. Yeah and I do listen to the podcast. Jake: Do you masturbate to it? You masturbate to it. Justin: All right so San Diego seven and a half. I like San Diego. They look good. Their defense looked good. Their offense was able to really control the clock. I mean, then Jacksonville team's just so bad and they're injured and give me San Diego. Jake: Well, in Jacksonville, for all the credit, they were massive underdogs last week and actually put together. They hung in there. They hung in there. And I think... Justin: I mean, they did lose by, you know, more than two touchdowns. Yes. Jake: But they also got scored on last in four seconds. They also had a defense that stood up, got to pick six. Like, I feel like they have the chance. I don't know why. I just feel maybe I just feel like this is going to be close. I mean, I don't think Jacksonville is going to win, but I feel like they're going to get closer to winning. This is going to be within seven. So I'll take Jacksonville. Justin: All right. We're on to four o'clock now. How many four o'clock? Jake: This is my big... That's good. That's the perfect number for us. Justin: This is our normal number. It should be four. I'd like five. Well, once the buys are over, you might get to five.
01 Justin: I'd like five. So San Francisco's going to Tennessee. San Francisco giving up four. Again, I can't pick Tennessee while... While they can't run the ball, and Ryan Fitzpatrick is their quarterback, so I just cannot pick them. They have a good defense. Yeah, but San Francisco has a really good offense. And a good defense. And a good defense. So I'm going to pick San Francisco to win by more than four points. Jake: It could totally be one of these like 13 to 9 games. Well, that would be four points. That would be a push-up. That would be a push-up. That's what I'm saying. But everyone loses. I'll take San Francisco. San Francisco has his ability and last week they got on track with Vernon Davis being back. Justin: I mean, I think I woke 190 yards or something. And they can run on anyone. They can. Well, they just have great offense. They could fall forward. Well, Gore is a very good running back. All right. Duh. 425 now. That's the only 405 game. This game I might actually be able to see because I'll come back and say it's... You may. Green Bay is hosting Cleveland. My Cleveland Browns. I wish that they just didn't have to start branding weed and I don't know why they won't go to Jason Campbell. I don't understand it. Because their plan of not winning got... But they're planning on winning. That division is winnable. They can win that division. So Cleveland's getting 10. And I like Cleveland because Green Bay is injured. So Green Bay might win, but the whole notion of like... Cleveland has a good defense. They can stop the run and then they can throw Joe Hayden on Whoever's left like the one receiver that's left Jordy Nelson and then what you know It's not like they're gonna be able to go crazy. I don't think so. Give me Cleveland and the 10 points Jake: Yeah, I just don't like I don't like a half team going into a real team's place. I don't know. I just feel half team. I don't feel like they're a real team. Justin: Not a real whole team. They're a half team. Green Bay's a half team. They're missing half their team. They're 51% full because they have Aaron Rodgers. Give me Green Bay. All right. Kansas City, the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs are hosting a real mess in Houston. in. Jake: The pick six of Sean he should just throw another one So is it is it T Y this is it TJ Yates starting to be determined? That's it. This is our standards injured Justin: T shop. Oh shops injured. Yes, so really booed him by the way, then they cheered when he got hurt Yeah, very high home stay classy Houston by the way, that seems to be a fan thing I that's a that's something Jets fans would do to Sanchez Jake: They did the sessions they did to Justin: not for injury though not for injury, but not for injury no way, no way. First off, Jets fans like Chad Pennington They liked him when he was gone they were like, oh, remember that guy who was so good? Everyone liked Chad Pennington while he was playing They've done it to both. Go Google Jets Chance Cheer, Chat
01 Justin: That QB injury and you'll come up with more than one story. It's not good. It happens all the time. It's not good. I don't like it. I think it's sucky. So anyway, Kansas City hosting Houston. Kansas City is too much for Houston to handle. Houston is falling apart. Kansas City giving six and a half and I like them to win by 13 or something. Give me Arrowhead. Yeah. Arrowhead. Ding. Game of the day I guess at 425, this will probably be the big national game. Pittsburgh hosting Baltimore. Pittsburgh at 1-4, Baltimore at 3-3. That division sucks. Terrible. That's why the Browns should, you know, really play their ass off. They can actually win that division. I'll take Pittsburgh at home giving only one and a half. I feel like they got a little like little juice flowing last week and I mean Baltimore their offense is no better than ours. Uh Yeah, but I feel like Pittsburgh just blew their proverbial load. There's no load. They didn't blow any loads They scored 19. No, they just couldn't go 0 and 6 like that's what it was But this is a big-time rivalry. I'm at home. I think Baltimore at this point is a better team on the road, on the whatever, they're just a better team. I think they'll do fine. I just saw Pittsburgh playing. Give me Baltimore. Jake: So this is the game that everyone's been waiting for. This is the most overtalked about game. This is a great game. But this has nothing to do with what they're making it out to be like. Because they're making it out to be like Andrew Luck versus Peyton Manning. It has nothing to do Justin: with Those two. What are you talking about? They're the two starting quarterback from the opposite teams. I understand, but I don't even know what you're talking about as far as making it into. I mean, you see every game, I've been watching for I try and stay away from Insane I hate they're talking about it constantly he's coming back and what you're saying amazing. What's what's amazing? He's well imagine if you will You know having a player like Peyton Manning on your team. I cannot imagine I can't but imagine having him yeah and Winning a Super Bowl with him yes, and him being like the greatest player in your franchise is history, okay? And then he goes away yeah because of an injury and you jettison him and he goes off and you draft the next him hopefully for you. And then he comes back to play you at home. I mean that is a fun-ass game. Jake: Well the word part, so the piece that you're, since you're not paying attention to any of the news, is that they're gonna honor him. Justin: They should honor him! While he's playing against him? Yeah, absolutely! Why not wait until he's retired? Jake: Because he's gonna be there! Honor him! But wait until he's retired and he comes back and retires a... Justin: Cold he's gonna come back and be a cold yeah, no you cannot do it while you're why you're playing him It's fine. It doesn't matter Denver's going to India. He's gonna change in the halftime come back out. No He's going to Indy Denver's favored by six and a half I've kind of made it a rule. I'm picking Denver until they believe until they are last week I picked him last week anyway, but until the line is like
01 Justin: You know over 10. I'm picking them anytime the lines under 10. So give me Denver Jake: Yeah, I think I think the Colts came off a little bit of a reality check Which is oh you're gonna walk into San Diego and you know taking care of this team and whoa wait Justin: We just got beat now. I got a short week coming back. Yeah, Denver's Denver's just too good for you unreal and by the way von Miller's back They've been playing without mom Miller and champ Bailey came back last week so their defense is coming right like becoming a hole and You know Manning had an off week last week, which is most players great week because they still scored in the 30s He's not gonna do that two games in a row. No, so yeah I think he's and I think if you're talking about the which quarterbacks gonna have the bigger chip on his shoulder Jake: It ain't luck. Justin: It has no chips. Jake: Right, exactly. That's why I think the luck versus... This is Peyton Manning versus the cult organization, not Peyton Manning versus... Good game. Can't wait to watch. At least we get one of the two prime time games as a good game because the next one is a fucking stinker. We'll be there. Justin: We're going to this game. So let's... What's... Wait, wait, even more than that, I will be in the Meadowlands on two days in a row. You will. Twice within 12 hours. Fright. So we have the Giants, our home, on Monday night. And we're gonna go, because it's a Monday night game and... Jake: Well, because our friends are... Justin: We got to take it, so we got invited. We're gonna go check out the Giants play against the Vikings. And the Giants are favored by three and a half. I don't understand this. Jake: Well, I guess the Vikings have won one game. Justin: The Vikings aren't very good. They're starting Josh Freeman. You know, we got news. We got word after the fact, I think, when we did our podcast last week of what happened, Adrian Peterson. Oh, yes, with his son and his son passing or. Not really passing but getting murdered murdered which is I guess the same as passing but worse That's my new tattoo off murder is like murder is like passing but where's Justin So I thought he would come out like all fired up which is something that we've seen Brett Favre do before and some other people do. And it just didn't happen and Minnesota lost. And I don't know, can the Giants really go 0-7? I mean, we keep saying this every week. We'll do this every week and every time I'm going to say there's no way they can go 0-7. Yeah, I finally got a run game going with Jacobs last week, but then they lost their other running back They have whatever that that guy well Dorell Scott wasn't doing anything I know but like here's the guy he picked they don't released him then they pick him up and now yeah Well, they got Jacobs and they got a palace. Oh, no, they know they have one other Peyton Hillis And the guy named Cox It's terrible sucks. It's terrible. So our Giants family so excited like Hillis. I'm like, are you serious? No, it's really really really like 2010 paint mills
01 Justin: 2009 Brandon Jacobs that what you got you got thunder and thunder back there. It's terrible Black Thunder, white lightning, like, terrible. It's awful. Jake: It's terrible, this game is terrible. You know, I'm gonna be there. Justin: Whatever, I'm breaking the giants, because I'm gonna be there. Three and a half, I should probably pick against them, because Eli will throw like three picks. Three and a half, it's how many picks will Eli throw over under? Jake: I think, I think it's gonna be how many is Josh Freeman gonna... Is Josh Freeman gonna be able to put together an offense? Why not? Why? Why not? He's getting there for two weeks and he sucks. He sucked before he got there. He's the best chance. I mean, he's the better, he's the best quarterback, but that's like saying he's on top of this Justin: pile of crap. He's the best piece of crap. He's made playoff run before. Jake: Once. Justin: So? Better than zero. I understand, but it's not like he's consistently been good. Jake: Again, he's the best player, the best quarterback to have, but it's not saying much. All right, let's get to some thrown picks. Justin: Let's get to some thrown pace. Jake: And make some keys to the castle. Let's do it. Let's do it. All right. We only hit two. It's very easy. Justin: How about you last week? So last week, I got the Cincinnati game correct, bad score, but got it right. Me too. Missed the Jets game. Jake: Me too. Justin: And nailed the Pats game, like legitimately the exact score. Jake: Really? Yeah. Whoop. Oh. That never happens. conditions. We both picked the path to win. I had them win by one point. You had them winning by three. Justin: Like the exact score. That's pretty good. Good job. 3027. Yeah, I'm pretty proud of that. I'm gonna stop now. I'm not doing throwbacks. Okay, you're not doing any more. You just hit your peak. Yeah, your peak. I'm done with it. So, all right. Buffalo's going to Miami. This sucks that Buffalo doesn't have manual to play Miami, and Miami's coming off a bye. Sucks. I feel like Miami's gonna beat them. I mean, they don't even know who's gonna play quarterback for the Bills. That guy got hurt. Whatever his name is. Bad Lewis. They also gave up on Tool. I don't know why you have a backup quarterback. If one year starting quarterback gets injured, you're not gonna play your backup quarterback. I don't know. I feel like that's what the Jets have right now. They have Matt Sims. Right like if Gino gets hurt in the middle of a game Matt Sims has to go in because he's the only other guy dressed The next week but the next week they would not play Matt Sims They would just go heck go find some guy or Brady Quinn or something else like it'd be an interesting thing to see what would happen But that's what the bills effectively did they were like Yeah, we have a backup quarterback, but when our starter gets injured, he's not starting. He's not really the backup. He's not really the backup. He's just the backup for this game. Jake: All right. So what are you picking here? Justin: Yeah, Miami's favored by eight and a half. I don't know what I did in the thing, but you're so good. I'm so bad at this. Buffalo. I mean, on. On the road, they can't score against Miami. I'll give them 10 and I'm gonna give Miami 21. So 21-10. Jake: I don't know why.
00 Jake: And maybe it's just because I don't believe in the Dolphins. I feel like the Dolphins have been overhyped. The one thing the Dolphins don't do well, and the one thing that the Bills do do well, is sacks. Justin: I've watched them a little bit. And Buffalo can get to the passer. Like, I think this could be a closer game than people expect. Jake: I think they'll get up. And then I think it'll be like a catch up. I just don't think they'll be able to do it. So I see that I literally see the bills winning this game. Maybe it's a little bit so much the brain, but I'm going to lose winning 21 20. Justin: Yeah, it's not smart. Let's get to the game of the week game of the centering millennium. And the whatever is the proper millennium. Jake: Is it weird to pass for the second time? And we haven't even played the Dolphins once yet. It's a little weird. So. I'm gonna say it's a little weird. Can we say- Justin: This is the Dolphins first division game this week. Yeah. And this will be our third. Yeah. Jake: So here's the thing about this game. Do you believe, as I'm about to make up, do you believe that this is our playoff in or out game? Justin: It's pretty goddamn close. Right? Jake: This is it. Like, you lose this game, you ain't making the playoffs. You win this game- Justin: Oh, you're certainly not winning the division. Well, that's for goddamn sure. Well, not now the AFC has one wildcard spot up for grabs because in the West, you've got two six and no. Teams sitting out there. Right. And they're both making the playoffs. Denver's not falling apart, neither is Kansas City. They're just not unless injuries just start unless Peyton Manning gets hurt. And unless Kansas City loses like six guys because they're deep as shit. Then you've got all these teams bunched you've got the Dolphins you've got the Jets you've got the Titans you've got the entire North like you know you got Cleveland at three and three and you got You know Baltimore at three and three and you know you got all these teams hovering it like three and three So do I think it's like our make or break? No because everybody's bunched for that last spot. I'm not even sure if there is a four and two team. Like right now, I feel like everyone's three and three for that spot. Okay. Maybe San Diego. Well, this week will be the- Out West is San Diego four and two, or are they three and three also? I mean, there's, everybody's bunched. So you're not gonna be more than two games out. Through seven weeks even if you lose this game at three and four. So do I think so? Not really because there's still a lot of football to go there's still a lot of injuries to happen for Every team and you never know what gonna happen At a perfect time this year. We caught him early during a game that we could have and should have won And we're catching him again where they're even more injured
04 Justin: They're missing They're missing as of now, we don't know who's gonna end up playing but ground doesn't look like he's gonna play No, doesn't look like gamondole is gonna play either. He looked almost dead. They're saying concussion. Yeah concussion and amongst Just the fact that he's Danny Amadola and hasn't finished one game this year. Uh, no, he finished it. Well, he hasn't played in a game where he like actually played the whole game yet. No, he played one game last year, last week. He played those did not finish that not the week before he played the entire game. No, he did not. He did. He finished that game. He played the whole game. He did. All right. So one game out of seven or six, whatever. Not good. Anyway. Dan Connolly starting guard I think or center Starting offensive lineman missing Wilfric out for the year Mayo out for the year To leave I think he's not gonna play that would be awesome So Mayo to leave and Wilfric their three best players at every at each of the three levels of the defense are out God it if we're ever gonna beat them with Brady Jake: This has got to be other than Brady. This is the chance this is a They've got Ridley Edelman they have Justin: Tompkins Dobson don't even know who their fourth receiver. I guess it's Austin. Collie. Yeah, you made a big catch in that game. Absolutely And then you got Ridley, but again, I'm not worried about anybody running on us. No, I'm just saying they're weapons. beat deep on those plays or hope that I mean these guys drop a shit ton of balls Dobson I thought Tom Brady was gonna kill somebody on the sideline everyone was watching that game is on right and you're just watching in Robert Ryan's face was priceless after that I mean that fourth downplay where Dobson just dropped I mean hit him right in the chest I mean, you could see Brady was like, what the fuck do I have to do? Jake: Do I have to catch myself? Justin: Do I have to run for first downs? Do I have to throw the ball and then catch it? Oh, like perfect throws. I mean, literally just perfect throws. Right to him. I mean, I felt bad for Rob Ryan because they should have won that game since. And they should have won because Sean Payton blew it for him. Sean Payton blew it for Rob Ryan, because you can't ask Rob Ryan to stop Tom Brady three times in the last three minutes. Two times is one too many. Well that's their offense, not being able to put anything together. But it was also bad calls. So they had that third down.
01 Justin: right before the two minute warning, it was like third and whatever it was, like six, seven, eight. And there was two minutes and 30 something seconds on the clock and the Pats had one timeout left. And instead of just running the ball and making the Pats take that timeout, they tried to throw it. And not only did they just try and throw it for the first down, they threw it deep down the sideline and it got deflected and they ended up kicking a field goal or whatever to go up for. So they made it a two score game, but whatever it was, it didn't matter because the Pats now had one timeout left and the two minute warning. So they get the ball back and immediately they throw that interception down the field, which is probably the best thing that they could have done because. No time came off the clock and they still had that timeout and they still had the two-minute warning So I mean Peyton basically gave them a timeout and 30 seconds And that's what the Pats needed to ultimately win a game because they got that third possession So he screwed that game up for me Kind of pissed me off. But anyway Um, back to this Jets game. Back to Jets game. I feel like we need to be able to run the ball. I feel like we need to stick to it because you're going to be able to run the ball. The Saints were able to run the ball in the Pats. That middle is open. There's no Mayo in there. There's no Wilfrick in there. Those are the big dudes who stopped the run from the linebacker and from the defensive You gotta run it up the middle. You didn't pull the Wildcat out in the last game against the patch. Maybe you're saving it for this one. Gotta use it. Try and maybe get Cribs involved in a little trickery or like some sweeps or something to just throw them off a little bit. And really I'm just praying that none of those guys that we listed play. Like I want none of those guys to play. Like no, no to leave. Jake: Your key to the castle is nobody on the page to replace. Justin: Nobody on the page to replace. Jake: Okay. And what are you picking for your win, for your first course? Why don't you pick against the Jets again? I was gonna. Just like you did Monday night. Justin: I was gonna pick against the Jets. And then all those injuries happened and I got my hopes up. I don't want my hopes to be up there. I want my expectations to be down. I like when expectations are low. I'm not expecting anything. Expectations are high. I get used to it. I hate that. Alright, come on. Let's go. Jets win. They win the game. Oh good. 11-9. They win the game. I think we do again another nice defensive showing here for us and we win 21-16. Nice. 16, one touchdown for Tom Brady. He hasn't been playing very well. Jake: No he hasn't and his weapons aren't there. I have three little words for you and the words that. We need to have... Fuck Tom Brady. No. Three little letters. Three little letters. Not three little words. We need this. And we need two of them at least. Justin: I-N-T. That's it.
00 Justin: That's this game. But Brady doesn't throw I-N-T's. He doesn't. Jake: But his receivers are so bad that they'll make opportunities. I guarantee you we'll look back on the tape on this game and we'll see opportunities where we could have... This will be the play. It'll be... Oh, look at that great interception. It bounced it, whatever it did. It got dropped or we could have had that. And I feel like that's gonna swing this game because we play a different game from, from, you know, with a power D and a run game than we do as a catch up game. You saw what happened against the whole game went to hell. As soon as they got a little bit of a lead on us, it's like, okay, now you're putting Geno in the position that he's not, I don't think he's ready to do. which is play catch up ball. He ain't Rogers. He's not going to be like, oh, let's just go sling the ball. He needs the other things to help him out. And so this team needs to come out and not they can't they can't shit the bed on the first drives. They have to play tough and they need the defense. I know this is I don't think this has happened all season. The defense hasn't scored. Justin: Like this is the top two three defense in the league, but we can't score. We don't even get turnovers That's what I'm saying. Like I think we have one interception one. Yeah, we need more this That's not good for a team that turns the ball over. We don't force turnovers, right? Right, and this is the week and this is how this game goes. That's the key. That's is don't that us or is that team's playing? like really conservative against us because they don't want it I don't think it sucks. Anyway, I'm predicting the Jets to win. Jake: Last time we lost what? 10 to 13? I predict we win. Yeah, 13-10 maybe. 17-19. 19-17. Jets win. Justin: You always say your score is backwards. It's very weird. Jake: It's because I have it written in front of me. It's very odd. Jets win. 19-17. city. And I think the whole thing, it's not about Gino, although Gino, listen, he's gonna throw a pick. It's whether the pick is the thing that, is whether that's the pick of one of three or is the pick of one of one. And then we need to do that to other teams. And again, Brady doesn't throw a lot of picks, but we need turnovers and we need the ability to make those receivers look bad. and they will give it up. There'll be one of those, I'm trying to catch it. Oh, and it flips up in the air. And if there's someone there, you see it happen every game. You're like, oh, we just got that. We need like one or two of those to win. You need three of those. All right, well. You're going to be there. I will be there. Who are you taking? So I'm bringing my brother from. Who's the Patriots fan? The Patriots fan. And his wife? And his wife. Justin: Who's the Patriots fan? Who's the Patriots fan? You're going with two Patriots fans. Yeah. What do you represent? Good job. Jake: Thanks, you're welcome. I have. Also, just to throw a little fire on the whatever, I think I've gone to a game with my brother like, I don't know, a billion times. I think out of the billion times I've gone, I think we've won twice. Probably the 12 times we've gone to games. So like, he has a bad record. And then the last time I was in that stadium with the both of them was... Justin: Thursday night, Thanksgiving but fumble night. Jake: Yeah, that was that night. Justin: Oh, that was but fumble? That was but fumble night. Oh, you...
00 Justin: He has such a good story for the rest of his life. Oh, I was... You saw but fumble. I was at but fumble. Well, I was at but fumble. But you left early from but fumble night. We left at half. You came home and met me, and we watched the end of the game together, drinking a lot. No, I came home because my- You were already drunk. Because my- You drove home not drunk, but became drunk when you got home. That's what I'm saying. What? I did come home and poured a vodka tonic the size of my head. Jake: No, that's the game that both my brother and brother turned to me and said- Let's go. This is too painful for you. Let's just leave. Oh, that's so friendly of them. I know, it's so powerful. So I need to respond. So hopefully the Jets are up 36 to three. I'll say, no, we're gonna stay. Justin: Yeah, we're staying. You're gonna watch this. Well, your brother did join us for the game up in 2011, the playoff game up in Massachusetts. So he has that. So he has that, and he stayed the whole time with us. That's true. Well, that was close game. Three hours afterwards. It was not that close. Thank you very much. It was close. Yeah, we won by a touchdown, but the game was out of hand. They had a drive that they had a couple drives. They had a failed onside kick at the end, which did not work for them. Jake: Let's get out of here. Let's say go to all the usual spots. We'll see you next week. Maybe it's a Monday. Come in here and crow. Maybe not. We'll be back next week. Jake and Justin, as always. Let's go chats. Thank you.
