00:09 Justin: The best place to be is when expectations are high. Get used to it. It's always going to be that way. Get away! Jake: Welcome to the Jack King of the Podcast, the longest running New Year's chess podcast ever. I'm Jake and joining me on this glorious Friday is Justin. Justin, how are you doing today? I am still riding high. I would say it was Friday. Well, it's Friday. I'm still riding high. I'm still riding high. Justin: I've been wearing jet gear all week. I got my chest sweatshirt on. I got a hat. I'm not wearing it right now. I don't wear a hat inside the studio. Jake: No, but I'm still like on cloud twelve. That was quite the thing. Oh, wait a second. You did pick us to win all right. I just wanna say because I picked us to win Justin: Yeah, I actually thought and what I texted you that morning what I said you said I'm feeling more and more confident as the day I said something like I said something Jake: That was along the lines of like I feel really good. Yeah, that's what I said You said you're feeling more and more confident. No, it wasn't more and more confident. It was something around like along the lines of I really feel good about this game. All right. Well, we got a whole agenda today. We have the game review, the highlights. We got the Knights of the game. We have news from around the NFL. We're going to talk about the JK fantasy league. The jet kingdom pick them for week eight of the text. I sent you says can't say why, but I have a really good feeling about today. Okay. That was it. We got. We got throne picks and then we got the just versus sincey and the keys of the castle. Let's kick it off with the game that was first of all, as I like to start all podcasts, please apologize. Me? Yeah. You and I do. You weren't. You didn't do a podcast on Monday. Justin: No, that's not my fault at all. Totally. We haven't done a Monday podcast all year. and-,. Well, no, this we the the every every time you do this I think the audience understands that it's your fault that we're not doing no podcast and Jake: Well, this one right would throw it at me a legitimate one First of all, we didn't do one Monday podcast cuz the game was on a Monday We didn't do this Monday podcast because we both Cuz we both went to the Monday night game, right? Justin: We're at the giant. I think the Giants game, right against the Vikings. Jake: That's correct. Justin: Which was just a terrible game. Terrible. Minnesota's terrible. Let's not talk for the Minnesota. Jake: But I'm just saying that two things. One, I was in. Justin: We saw Josh Freeman quarterback twice this year. Two different teams. That's right. Just as bad both sides
03:03 Jake: But let's talk about your janitors. We are apologizing. Oh, I became mayor of lot D. I'm very happy. Yeah What do you get for that? Nothing is a So let's talk about the game that was all right and I'll start off by give me your impression so everything that's come down this really you know This was a game that nobody thought the Jets would win except us except for us in ways and I think now looking at effectively this was a season ender but it was a season contender or a season contender. Like losing that game, yeah, now you're kind of fighting. the, horizont a second, you guys in a second. You guys actually beat, you beat the Bills, you beat the Patriots once and you still got the Dolphins and the Bills to go. You got a shot kid, like you know you could be a contender. So winning the game was massive. I was there Justin: there, you were not. I was not. Because you bring Patriots' fans to the Patriots game. You know what the best part of that entire game was? I have Jake: I've been with my brother, and we said this before the podcast, I've been with my brother to Patriots games, many of them. I think out of all the games I've ever been, I think we've won two or three. Because I think the Sanchez first year won, this one, and the playoff one. That's how sad it is. I can remember, all three games. And it was, it felt so, so good just to have us actually win and be sitting there with my... brother and his wife, both Patriots fans, she was going insane. They were both there at the Thanksgiving game last year, so it just felt so good. Butt fumble. Ugh. It just got the butt fumble out of my butt. That's good. That's good. Justin: So give me some impressions, thoughts, whatever. What a game. I was on the edge of the seat, biting the nails. I'm telling the S.O. to get back in the other room. Oh, man. Yeah, we were up We were up. We had just went up like 2117 and it was like rolling along and And what's the 21? What was our? 2721 I'm sorry We had just gone up like in the third quarter the third quarter was the best quarter of seeing the Jets play in A long time like in two years that was a great quarter defense offense the whole thing and she comes out from taking a nap like she was napping through the whole game she comes out at like the end of the third quarter beginning in the fourth quarter and i was just like get back in there i was just like you cannot come out here right now and she didn't even get it she was like
06:13 Justin: Jets played extremely good defense You know starting Midway through that second quarter and then all the way through the rest of the game Held Tom Brady in complete check like I haven't seen him play that this bad Since like week three week two. Well, he's he's had a stretch now. He is not Tom Brady I mean he is Tom Brady. He does not have Tom Brady weapons. He had of course Gronk is back and he's just Gronk He's like yeah, you can't cover me and he targeted him 17 times Like hey, I'm gonna drop back and throw to Gronk. Yep, and of course he caught eight of them We kept him out of the end zone, which was good by like a yard that one time. Twice. He had a one drop that he could have scored. He had the drop in the fourth quarter when they were going. How scared were you in that fourth quarter? They're just going down the field. I was like, they're gonna do it. They're gonna win. This is what they always do. And Gronk, the pass was high. He went up with one hand. That was probably a touchdown if he catches it. Can't say enough about the defense they played great they held Brady to 47% completion percentage Jesus 53 was his quarterback rating no touchdowns one interception I mean This is a guy who threw a touchdown pass and like 50 something straight games Right and now like two of his last three hasn't thrown one. It's kind of odd, right? He didn't throw one here against us. He only threw for 228 Just a pick. He does a pick six. He doesn't throw pick sixes. That was a like Sanchez style pick six because it was backed up right at the beginning of the half and it was two plays in. It was a sack to back them way back. Yep. And then a rush throw just behind the receiver. and it was taken right to the house and it was one of those like yeah we used to do that we did that last year because that is just just swing it's like shit they scored you know they're up 21 10 and they're getting the ball at halftime and just sucks because you're like fuck you know they're coming out and they're gonna score at least a field goal we're gonna be down 23 10 or 24 10 and that's two touchdowns and We can't score two touchdowns, we never score- and all of a sudden, boom, the third quarter came and it was like, whoa, what just happened? We just won that quarter, 17-nothing. How did that just happen against Bill Belichick and Tom Brady? Again, they couldn't run against us. I don't think there's gonna be many teams, if any, that are gonna really run against us. Jake: I think this is the week that we're gonna see the best. I'm just trying to think. Don't think so of who we've met we're going to meet do you think has a better running tandem than those two? No, he had hurt Spiller. Yeah, but I think we when we played them
09:00 Justin: That was that's still a good rushing team when we played them. They had manual They had a healthy Spiller and a healthy Jackson. That's a good running team when we played against them If you ask me, you know, Tampa with Doug Martin, he's a good running back. Shut him down. Who else have we even played this year? I guess that has a running back that Chris Johnson on Tennessee. I guess everyone's kind of shutting him down, but. Yeah, and Doug Martin week one. I feel like the Pats, if they want to, could run on you. They're just stubborn about it. Jake: Just looking up their schedule ahead and. I think that we're just, we are seeing, to me, the toughest duo. Maybe the toughest duo was, was, was Buffalo. I feel like we're seeing maybe next week with Norah Lins. Like that's a good- Sproze is going to be a tough guy to shut down out of the backfield. Kind of the same thing and, and, uh. NGO this week. Yeah, I don't think Bernard's close to what sproles can do. They don't use him the same But I think yes, and talent. Mmm. Sproles is excellent. Yeah. Anyway, I'm he plays on another level So anyway, so keep going Justin: Well, I'll just so what it just a really good game. Um, I I'm there are some players that I came away from this game thinking Wow They played well. The quarterback made an early mistake, forgot about it, which is good. Didn't let it, you know, didn't compound the issue. Just came out, ended up scoring after that. And then in the third quarter, like, used his legs. Like, we haven't really seen this year. I like that. Wildcat was in effect. Josh Cribbs. Yep. We ran it like three or four times One odd thing, you know, everyone came out of this like whoa Chris Ivory What a game and I look at him like he didn't really have that good a game He just touched the ball shit ton. He had 34 rushes like you should have a hundred yards if you Run the ball 34 times average 3.1. Yeah, that's garbage. It's really I just didn't understand the ball. I'll Powell sitting on the bench and like Tommy behind and had six carries so like why is Bohannon six and Ball, I'll Powell three. I didn't get it. Maybe he was hurt He's not on the injury list at all. So I just don't understand it Maybe they just wanted to give him a little breather or they wanted the power back, but I don't really feel like Powell's Not a power back like right he can run between tackles Jake: Honestly, I mean again, they said they went with a hot hand and I wasn't that hot Well, but he was he was making good plays. He was he was He was doing enough to get the ball down the field. Like I know that's kind of weird to say but like I guess I just stuck to him. I don't know it doesn't make sense because you would think that Powell's a You think he's a better runner and a better chance. I feel like he Oh, I think I every has a chance to break one at any time. He's just low
12:03 Jake: He just couldn't break one though. It's low. Yeah, he's slow. He was not slow. I can't get around the edges anyway I mean, so let's talk about the really the white elephant in the room. What's that? Yeah, the penalty so, you know as everybody knows now because it's been over and over and over again I love that like the reporting is like the jet squeak by the Patriots with it Did anybody realize that they got the ball at the fourth quarter? I mean in the overtime they got the ball. Yeah, they could have done anything they could have gone down a scored sure didn't. And then we ran down their throats. Right. So as everybody knows there was a new penalty, it hasn't been called this year, but it has been put into play. It's in the books and it has to do with basically pushing your own guy into the scrum or the blocking pile, pushing him from back. So you push them. through. Which I guess is a safety thing for everybody, but I guess it's really a safety Justin: thing for your own player. The safety is for the offensive line. Right. So last year, there was a rule that you couldn't line up over the center. Right. Because the center's got his head down and you can just run over him. Right. And you couldn't push from the second level. So like a linebacker, if you're thinking of a traditional like lineup. Couldn't push a defensive lineman through right now. It's any player can't push any player, right? So they had two guys lined up across from It was I think it was snacks who was playing guard like right next to the center and one of the defensive lineman went right behind the other one and just started pushing and I mean, they put the rule in place because the momentum is all for the team that's trying to block the field goal or the punt in that situation. You can't really, in a field goal situation, you really can't move back more than two yards. Right. Otherwise, you're like in front of the kicker. So. If you have two guys pushing one, you're gonna endanger that guy by having two guys running over him and he's trying to stand their stout. He can't blow off the ball. He's got a stampede. So it's in the rules. It was the first time it was ever called. It was fortuitous for it to be called at that very moment. Thank you. I feel like the bats because he missed the pick. He missed the kick. Yeah, if he made a kick, then fine. Who gives a shit? Right. But he missed the kick and I know it was a 15 yarder. Yeah, 15 yard penalty. We ran three, two or three more plays didn't go anywhere. Actually went backwards. Right. And you know what? The bats get every break in the book. They get every break every year. Everything. I mean, how many times do we?
15:01 Justin: Like didn't we force didn't we have a couple of strip sacks? Yeah that we didn't pick up like I know Culpals had at least one and Someone else had another where we smack the ball out of Brady's hands and it just bounces right into an offensive lineman's hands They get every break everywhere You know when you watch that game against the Saints they got every break like they always get every break So screw them for not getting a break fuck the Pats Jake: Yeah, I don't know. I mean, I think it's one of those things that you you It's you what what you say about is where you feel about the team you feel what the good about the team Yeah, it's a good thing. You feel bad about the team. No. No, it's terrible and we got robbed again, if The robbing takes a little bit less because it's not like they didn't have a shot on offense to win that game They had the shot they would have won it they could have They didn't and then we got the ball. And yes, we missed the we missed. If we'd missed, we would have given the ball and then they would have another shot. But then that would have been their second shot to go have to win the game. Justin: So anyway, the only really school of thought or train of thought here about it. Is that the referees did in the end. Take a play then I'm sure if you went back and watched every field goal attempt that has happened this year I am absolutely positive you will find at least five to ten of these penalties that were not called and were not an overtime kick to win the game or were not in the fourth quarter in the last two minutes to win a game and the referees did kind of throw a flag at a point in the game that If there's a play that is questionable, they should keep their flag in their pocket. So I could see it from that side being like, I guarantee you I could find a number of situations where this has happened this year. Jake: I got a holding penalty on every play and every big play. Justin: Yeah, but you don't really see, for example, you know, you don't see holding calls. on Hail Mary is a really good example. You don't see pass interference on Hail Mary plays at the end of the game. I mean, you remember that Green Bay Seattle game last year where not only did they get the call wrong, but Golden Tate literally threw the defender off of him to go up and catch that ball. There's no flag. They're not calling that penalty. It exists. It's there. Stephen Hill got a offensive pass interference called against him on a touchdown catch, but it wasn't the last play of the game and it didn't mean the game. Like the referees aren't going to take their flags, throw it, and give you the ball on the one yard line, even though it is a penalty. So this is kind of the same thing. So I could see it from that perspective. But with that said, it's in the rules. They called it. We win. I take it. If it went against me, I'd be ripshit pissed though. Because I see the other side. I'm not oblivious to the other side. Jake: Totally, totally. But you know, it happens. So let's give our night and our play of the game.
18:03 Justin: Alrighty then. My night... I have two offensive players that I want to give my knight to. Excellent. I already picked my knight. Even though this is really a defensive game to me. There are two receivers that I'd like to give my knights to but I'm only gonna give it to one. It's gonna be Mr. Jeremy Curly. Mr. Third down. Mr. Dependable on third down. Third and 21. Third and whatever. Throw to Curly. He is the black wanker bat. I mean, he's just in the slot open. Touchdown pass, third down, targeted 10 times, got eight catches, 97 yards, long of 22, which was for a first down, which is great. He played a hell of a game. The other one I wanted to call out was David Nelson, because I thought he played a hell of a game as well. He caught the wrath of. Of what's his face Ray Lucas after the game Ray Lucas was like defending Gino on that one pick six. He was like, oh Nelson ran a horrible route Like he got jammed at the line. All right, Gino was staring him down. He threw the ball right at the other guy Knew it was coming there and he caught it, but I thought David Nelson had a great game. He had that great catch in the overtime where he went over the top of that guy and dove and made some great catches and some great blocking in the run game, which goes unnoticed sometimes. So my night's Jeremy Curley, my runner up's David Nelson. Because I thought he played great. What was your play of the game? Pick six. Pick six. You got to pick. Play. Jake: You can play the third and twenty one. No, I don't play that game. Justin: Yes, you can't. The pick six changed the final. the play before the pick six the sack before the pick excellent because that just set the tone for the second half and it was just like the third quarter was so dominant by the defense they went out there with a little chip on their shoulder like you know in that first game we held them with 13 points and it was all because brady had no weapons and not because the jets held the pass the 13 points so they went out there and had a little chip on their shoulder i mean I've been saying at least on this podcast since the preseason that this is a top three defense and it really is It really truly is they get to the quarterback without having to blitz Jake: They didn't blitz him a lot at all. I mean like they really just they just sacked him four times Justin: Yeah, he's a smart motherfucker. He doesn't take a hit He just falls. He's like, all right, I'm sacked, I fall. Gino could learn a thing or two from that. Like, don't take a hit. Just fall, dude. Jake: Well, I mean, they both got sacked four times. Yeah, Gino takes hits on his. Yes, he does. Well, my play is I thought the guy who had the toughest job on that field, but then who sort of did the most defensively. Antonio Allen, safety, like he was on Gronk a lot.
21:00 Jake: He, you know, played him pretty tough. He could have had a pick. He could have had two pick. He had one pick six and he could have had another or another pick, landed right in his, I feel like we, there's so many this year. Calvin Page dropped one too. And they get so mad after he's like. Jude get the ball, but um you know he was on Gronk a lot and well Gronk did very well Gronk didn't have a Gronk game He had a did have a grande and just didn't score time Yeah, well, but that's the difference in this game This game is really you know a three-point game and a few of them were because Gronk didn't get in the end zone Justin: You know Mo book has set six acts or seven games already. He's a beast. He's turning into like an unstoppable type of player He this he's already got his career high in sacks, right? What six and we haven't played half the season yet? Jake: No, and we've got a couple games up here that I can just see him having multiple man Cream the bill we play Miami twigs another end Ryan Tannehill's being sacked them like he's averaging four or five sacks a game It's great. We're gonna play him twice. Can't wait to kill Miami You know Oakland You got some prior takes some sacks. Yeah, so that's my and then pick six was just I mean I was a game changer Justin: Totally was a total turn that game right around stadium must have been going Absolutely insane during the third quarter the whole third quarter. I was was it just it was crazy Jake: I will I will honestly say the guy in front of me who you know the season take it older in front of me He turned around because again, I was with my brother and he's like He turned to my brother and goes I've never seen him like this like he's going insane losing his mind Justin: It was the crowd like really up like Because I feel like on defense the way that they were playing in the third quarter that it it justified really being so up and yelling and screaming and like standing and just screaming and waving whatever they handed out and the whole time. All the green talent. Like don't sit on your butts. Get on the screen. Jake: It was pretty loud. It was, it definitely had, you know, definitely third downs and stuff that got really loud. When, you know, the stadium goes as the jets go and as the jets start to like pick it up then you can see the stadium starts to really pick it up. It's just start to you know, butt fumble over the place and the stadium goes down It was pretty loud. It was not the last game I've seen, I've heard in that stadium. I still think that is... That wasn't a lot of scheme in that stadium. It's the first Patriots game. The game where he called us out, when Rex called us out, that game was insanely loud. Insanely loud. Rex should call us out, Mar-a-l. Every week. Well, he should. He should call him out. So that's the game that was... Justin: He's not gonna get fired during the middle of the season like most people thought he was going why I say we could have a quick Jake: Conversation about that in terms of in terms of his thing. Do you think he's off the hot seat or do you think he's just like Justin: He's cheetering He's he's he's more off the seat than he is on He's got like waiting got him out for one half of them. She got wealthy if he goes four and twelve
24:04 Justin: He's he's he's back on the seat. But what I thought before the season started was the bye week is the barometer and if he's going to get fired, it's going to be at the bye week and he's not going to get fired at the bye week. It's not happening. This five game stretch that started with the Atlanta game, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, New England, followed by Cincinnati, New Orleans. If they could get through that five game stretch and win two games, which they've already done already won the two So now we're playing with house money You're in really good shape to make the playoffs. No kidding because you look at the AFC and there's a big bunch and we're actually at the top of it, right and Jake: Afterwards we have and again not that all these are not the hardest schedule in the world though after that after that Justin: Bye, right Jake: Buffalo, Baltimore, Miami, Oakland, Carolina, Cleveland, Miami. It's not like... Those Miami games are going to be the key. Really they are. Well, and I think the Buffalo game too. Oakland looks a little pretty easy at this point. Carolina looks probably better than I thought. They're better. Baltimore, I think it's pretty much going to give up at some point. And then Cleveland, I think they'll be in the giving up section of their... They should be tanking by that point. So let's talk about the Picto Knights of the Games. Anything going on other than the most hurt players ever in the history of man last week? They literally, that's all the stories of this week where everybody got hurt. Justin: brutal last week ACLs shoulders just Jake: I was watching the game and they were just in all the people who were and then out is like out is like out for the season. Lots of guys. There's a same pick as Geno's. Justin: It's like a rounder second rounder. So we I was trying to and I I did it yesterday. I was in my car. I was driving somewhere and I like to while driving, I like to play little games with myself. I was like, I was thinking it's illegal. And most. Yeah, I know. I was thinking I was like, man, so let's listen to the NFL network. And then they went to commercials like they were talking about like it was like Kellen Clemens or like maybe they were talking about because Tampa played last night and it was Mike Glennon. Yeah. and they were like, man, there's been so many teams affected by injuries or something to their A quarterback that wasn't the starter week one, right? I counted 12. Wow.
27:01 Justin: That's a lot. There's a lot. I didn't even count us like I didn't count us even though I because Sanchez was never named the starter so But if you go through it, like I went through it like division by division and trying to think of all the teams and I was like, holy shit, there's 12 teams that Have gotten like killed at quarterback, right? That's crazy. It was a crazy crazy crazy week speaking look at the bills And look who they're going through there. They're terrible. This guy's not playing badly for them though. Yeah, that is Lewis Yeah, he's playing better than what most people expect and then they beat the Dolphins Yeah, good. Yeah, it's tripped back in the last second. Jake: Knocked a bunch of people out of my suicide pool. There you go. Um, speaking of things that get knocked off, uh, in the Jet Kingdom Fantasy League, we have a new leader in the, in the East. Who's that? That's you. Oh snap. Yep. I love, just, just let's recap. In the beginning of the season when you were 0-2 and I was trying to talk about the Jet Kingdom Fantasy League. I was never 0-2. go. I owe in to yeah, I do have a fighting yeah, you were only Then yesterday you were giving me all so look at me five and two bitches. Yeah, I don't for you I don't care but I'm by doing nothing nothing this week. And so who you playing this week? Justin: Winslow sweet chariot nice from over in the UK and he's already scored 10 points with the Carolina defense but You know his team looks like it's either injury riddled or bye week Abandoned because he's got some guys in there that are like, ooh, really you're starting that guy in this league really But whatever. Yeah, I'm missing. I like my chances, but I am a little pissed at the Jets because my jet is Blalpowl And like they stopped using him last week all of a sudden. His jet is Nick folk which is probably the best jet to have because you know, he's the kicker and Whatever. It's a kicker and he happens to be a good one. So you're in good shape Jake: I'm up against the UK Jets Gates where two and five I'm playing some UK also I am and I'm having a little running back blues because my running back is a geo So I'm like, oh you can't play I can't play him So I tried to get someone on the waivers and I don't see him here. He didn't draw trade Yeah, he's showed up. I want to make a trade on the air. Just put in who'd you get eaten motherfucking? Justin: Ellis motherf the one I think maybe picked him up and dropped him in the league because I was Last week I was playing against Brandon Jacobs and all of a sudden on Monday night and playing against Peyton Hill So he must have picked him up for one week and I'm dropped. Yeah. Well. Well, he'll play again this week for me Jake: All right. He's a he's a projected the projection on this one is crazy
30:01 Jake: I'm crazy projections also I'm projected at 125 he's projected 86 Justin: 125 is a lot in this league. Yeah, I'm at 117 He's projected at 1 to 114 so we should have a pretty close pretty close game Jake: Yeah, see how it shakes out. All right Well, let's get into the jet Kingdom Pick them. Let's do it. And how are we doing? Are we both terrible? We're both awful Justin: I'm one game ahead of you because you won last night. That's right. You had Carolina and I had Tampa Jake: Who's winning the whole league right now? Let's take a look at the the whole knows not winning Justin: Matty jets Try to throw that out there. Yes, he's usually been pretty good. He's usually pretty good and I think he's Jake: kind of like towards the bottom really we have a whole bunch of like it even know well we have geezer is leading it with 63 points Justin: 63 and 43 is a good record that's pretty good Jake: and we're pathetic we are i see some record regulars chromatograph is in there uh jessica paves yeah so some mardi gras Graw sorry like the broadcaster is one ahead of me. That's fine But we are down towards the bottom with the people who are not picking like yeah Justin: We're making and those who aren't picking Let's get started so we're picking all the games against the spreads except the AFC East which will come back to later and talk about in throne picks where we'll actually predict some scores. This week started off, we're doing this on a Friday, so last night Thursday night Carolina killed Tampa. I'll pick Carolina. I picked Tampa. I just couldn't see it. I was like six and a half. I know they suck, but like Carolina's been a road favorite a bunch of times this year already and has lost. every single one of those games, not only not covered, but literally lost. So it's like, uh, Tampa's gotta win at some point. And I don't know if they're gonna. Not gonna. That guy's going to be fired first, I think. Jake: Oh yeah, he's he's for they have. There's a radio station is taking out 19 billboards around Tampa Bay called fire. Here's the joke. I'm going down there in two weeks. over under on him being fired when I go down there. He'll still be there when you're there. In two weeks. Justin: I don't think they're gonna fire him till the end of the season. Jake: I kind of like the mid-season firing. Justin: Because you get to start to look. You get to like start to look around. Jake: You don't, but you can't look at anybody who's already got a job. No, but you can start to evaluate. Openly like oh, it's like you get to be like it's like you're single again You can bet look at them like what Miami did to Sperrano, but then they kept them for another year Oh, that's terrible and we hired them Let's not really bad. Anyway, I pick Carolina. What would you pick? Camp on. Oh, good job. Yeah, I think I'm gonna be correct. Do you think you're gonna be correct? No, okay Justin: All right, one o'clock one o'clock, by the way, there's four four o'clock games this week But doesn't matter because the Jets are one of them. Yep So we'll be glued to that.
33:00 Justin: Only second and last four bucks game. I think it's like there's a lot of buys this week. Six buys I think. So there's only six one o'clock and four four o'clock. So not a whole lot of action on Sunday. Jake: Oh just as a side note other news. I just can't get into this this can I? Tell me. They announced next year the three three hundred games. Justin: We're not one of them. We're not one of them. Someone asked me on Twitter. Um, why we weren't one of them. Because we don't want to. Mikey T. Sorry Mikey. He replied back, he's being selfish about London. As it'd be nice to get some positive media coverage here. We'll have to suffer the Dolphins now. Whatever. Suffer dude. Jake: Anyway, sorry Mikey T. We're going soon. I don't think next year, but the year after I can see us totally going. Justin: I don't want to go. Oh, I definitely don't want to lose a home game. No, but I want to go. Well, I mean I'll go to London. I don't feel like it's good for the team to have to go to London. I don't like Thursday night and I don't like London. Next game. The Premier League would never send a regular season game or match here to America. So now who's, now who's rattling? Alright. Detroit is hosting Dallas in what should be a shootout. Although Dallas played Philly last week and they didn't score much and neither did Philly Which was weird, but Philly ended up with their third string quarterback So I guess that's an explanation there and Calvin's back for Detroit. So they're just winging it Detroit home three. I'll take them give me to joy Kansas City is awesome. First place AFC West AFC undefeated only undefeated team left. Yeah yeah because the Colts took care of Denver. That's crazy sauce. Denver is now the fifth seed. Who wants to play them in the first round? Me. We can't. Well, maybe we can we get them at home. We'll play bait manning at home. We've beaten them at home before in the playoffs That's right. I've been there. I seen that So Kansas City is hosting Cleveland. It's seven and a half I think that's not enough because if you look Kansas City while they played a close game last week They've won five of their seven games by more than ten points. So I like Kansas City. Actually did a little studying. Oh nice. I did no studying Cleveland. We probably get an upright. All right. Scoopy skip. There we go. Two games in a row. You got to skip. All right. Philly is hosting the Giants. Jake: and New York football Giants the winning giants because they won just weeks there and they're gonna go on a roll here. I Justin: Like their points Philly's giving five and a half and I like the five and a half so I'm gonna take the Giants It's gonna be close. I'm not sure who's gonna win. So I'm just gonna take the points here. I just watched the Giants Jake: as bad as they are, but they still are a real football team.
36:00 Jake: And I feel like what they did to Josh Freeman, I feel like they can do to whoever starts. I don't care if it's Vic and his heart. Justin: Let's let's hold on there. Josh Freeman's terrible. He is terrible, but he's really terrible. Well, first of all, Nick Folk is not fit. The name of Nick. Not not who you're talking about. Jake: Nick Foles is not. Plays. He's not playing. I know. I know. But so then who is playing Michael Vick? If he plays Michael Vick's playing. OK, I feel like a hurt Michael Vick is like just a duck on the side of the road ready to be killed. Justin: Yeah, but the way that he was running that offense, they were moving. All right. I just they're not as futile as as Minnesota. Minnesota is terrible. I'm in Minnesota, not only do they have an incredible weapon. They have one weapon. And if you just stop him, the game's over. They have no receivers. Jake: Exactly what happened. They also had no quarterback speed. The quarterback was terrible. I'll take the Giants. I think the Giants, I think the Giants keep it close. It's also divisional. They're going to come off this we can win thing. It's not, it's a, it's a. It's a road game, but it's not like you know going across. It is going to their bitter rival right? So I'm saying I think though I think you stand up, and I think you're right They could go on a little bit of a roll a little bit of a roll with three games all right, San Francisco is Justin: Going to play Jacksonville at London at Jacksonville So it's a Jacksonville home game can hate this you know It's stupid as they took like a game that Jacksonville had a chance of selling tickets No, it's the San Francisco 49ers. Jake: No, it's the opposite way. They took a game away from a team that can't ever sell tickets. Justin: No, no, I get it. It's gonna be Jacksonville, right? But they have like a four-year deal to go over there because the owner of Jacksonville owns a soccer team over there. So he wants to go over there. But what I'm saying is Jacksonville has eight home games a year. Yes. This is one where they probably could have sold games, sold tickets because the 49ers, they're very popular team. And they're good. And people want to come out and see them. Jake: That works so much. Justin: But anyway, they're a popular team. Jake: I don't think that works so much. I don't think you can sell that many East Coast, West Coast team. Justin: The 49ers are a national team. OK. Because of. the way that they were a dynasty in the 80s. Jake: Here's a funny thing to think about. Justin: I don't want to think about it. Jake: The Jacksonville Jaguars, who are the pick that one of the teams that's obviously they're trying to this big deal, they're gonna go over there. Why wouldn't you pick a team that their name sounds exactly the same, both in London here? KATHRYN So when you say the New York Jets and you go over to London you put on your London accent you say your chest Sounds like New York Jets. All right, or the New York Giants Okay, but you know what sounds like Jacksonville Jogwiles. They say it differently. So The jag you are yeah, they say it differently in London than Jaguars The announcers, but the announcers. I'm just saying, they're going to say it differently. It's going to be funny. It's like having the Tommy tomatoes or something over there.
39:02 Jake: Right. Exactly. Justin: All right. I'm sorry. Jake: I'll pick San Francisco to cover this massive fucking spread. Justin: Alrighty. It's a punchy day. Well, I didn't pick that game, did I? Okay, who do you pick? I'm picking San Francisco. Excellent. All right. Uh, four clocks. Pittsburgh goes to Oakland. Pittsburgh favored on the road two and a half. Here they come. Pittsburgh. That's it. That's it. Here they come. They're, they're, they're, they were... They're an average team that so they're they're an eight and eight team Jake: So like they're gonna be bad teams and they lose the good teams exactly they're gonna this is a bad team Justin: So they're gonna they're gonna unfortunately gonna win beat us which they shouldn't know about whatever whatever Jake: We just snuck we suck away with two this year that I feel like we didn't predict we would win We didn't say we were gonna win beat the Patriots twice. Mmm. Well, we didn't beat them twice, right? But we didn't think and we I think we said we both said that we're gonna lose them twice Yeah, and I think we said we're gonna lose to Lana cracked. So, you know, whatever it is Pittsburgh me too Justin: No Actually picked Oakland. No, that's funny. That's funny. I said Pittsburgh, but I picked Oakland. I kind of want to so good at this It should be here professional. I change it change it Jake: I'm not going to change it. You have to catch up with me somehow. Oh wait. I need to have you I'm leaving you this week Justin: You have to catch up with me Denver is Hosting Washington This is gonna be crazy Denver's gonna store so many goddamn points after last after last week cuz Washington's defense is terrible terrible and Denver's offense is Pretty good. Well when they have an off game they scored 33. Let's put it that way. Right. I wish we scored 33 ever So like they scored 33 and they played bad They're gonna put up 40 something but Washington it can also score and come from behind and score some some points But the line is Denver at home 12 and a half And I think they probably went by 14. Jake: Yeah, Washington is really the king of the junk time cover. Justin: So I'm going to keep the back door, back door, junk time, back door men. Last four o'clock, Arizona, Atlanta. I don't think this will be on anywhere but in Arizona and Atlanta. That's my guess. Jake: Um question for you is lana still in the hunt. They still have a chance to make it make it play Justin: I don't think so. I have to look at the standings in the nfc like I know the nfc east is just going to be sending one team to the playoffs because You know, they're like the leaders to alice at four and three and then you know, there's the eagles at three and four and Whatever the north I think is where? One of the wild card teams come out of and the other one has to be the west because Seattle and San Francisco Neither of them are missing the playoffs So no pencil in Seattle and San Francisco and I think the north gets the other wild card whether it be the Packers Lions
42:06 Justin: Packers are Lions. Probably the Bears unfortunately with Cutler Probably gonna slide a little bit, but I will say I don't think Atlanta has too many teams to jump by the way right now Jake: There's a great feature of ESPN. It actually has a playoff standings every week Yeah, so you can go and click on it and right now it's Seattle Norleans Green Bay Dallas San Francisco Carolina Justin: Right. It's the cut off. Oh, so Carolina's the 4 & 3 team not the Lions or the Bears Jake: They're they're they're below because of head-to-head in the AFC it's Casey, Cincy, Indy, New England, Denver, San Diego. We're cut off. We're the other four and three. We're the other four and three. And uh... The rest is three and four. I'm east three and four, right. Justin: Okay. Anyway, so Arizona's hosting Atlanta. Arizona's favored by two and a half. I'll take Arizona. I mean, whatever. These teams to me are like...kinda like polar opposites. Arizona's got a terrible offense but an okay defense. questions. And Atlanta's got an okay offense and a terrible defense, so I think they just cancel each other out. Jake: I'll just take the home team. Yeah, I actually think Atlanta has a chance here. I don't know why. I just kind of have a feeling that like... Stephen Jackson might play. They have a... They don't have a terrible team. Their defense is not great, but I feel like they're gonna put together a win streak here that's gonna make you kind of think. I don't know. I just have a feeling. Justin: I don't know if Roddy White's playing either. But whatever doesn't matter didn't seem to matter last week. All right, and then too crappy Yeah, this is the crappy some happy prime time games division games Which is what you can hang your hat on like division games are usually better than like if you just look at a game And say oh, that's a crappy matchup because it's a good team and a bad team But at least they're two division games Minnesota's in prime time for the second week in a row Green Bay at Minnesota Green Bay favored by nine I mean, I just watched Minnesota get demolished and they could not move. Although I think ponders starting this week because they said Josh Freeman has a concussion from what don't know on a wall. Maybe the game. I feel like that's actually like a cop out. I don't think he has a concussion. Did it come out of the game? I don't think he did like he did. So. So you're saying you got a concussion during the game and you didn't know it. What the fuck is that? Jake: They don't want him to play. They don't want to win. Justin: They don't want to win. So I think Green Bay, even with all the injuries, can still score and run it up. It's kind of dangerous to pick a road nine point favorite in division. Probably shouldn't do that, but I'm gonna pick them anyway. I'm doing it too. I'm saying Green Bay Jake: I think they can I think they can cover it I think they can win and I think they have a better team and even them with their billion Billion people being hurt on their team. Yeah, I think they can do it Green Bay is they have a next-man-up Philosophy that kind of works what your Super Bowl that way your receiver just walked in off the front, you know the front stoop Here you go. Oh, mr. Boykin. Well, we have an incredible we have a credible
45:03 Jake: quarterback who can get the ball. It's interesting it's just not happening for for New England. Like they're losing people and they can't have people stand up. They always do too, but I guess they're losing the wrong people. Justin: Speaking of picking road teams in division with large spreads, Seattle is at St. Louis and favored by 11 and I think Seattle's defense swallows up. Kellen Clemens and the St. Louis Rams and probably sacks him somewhere between Jake: six and ten times. I would love to be owning that defense this week. I too will switch my pick and pick. I didn't know it was Kellen Clemens until I made my pick. So let's go ahead and pick the... that was the Jet Kingdom. Pick them. You too can play along with us. A little late but... in the checking and picking week. What you can never do is play with us in our throne picks where we pick just the AFCs match ups. We pick the winner with a score and give a little bit more insight than our unusual banter. So let's go, lead me off. Tell me what's going on. Justin: All right, so we have Miami at New England. So both of these teams. Coming off of division losses Miami lost last week to the Bills New England famously lost last week to the Jets famously and Unfair and they're in New England another week of having Gronk around and him being like, you know ready rare and rock Is Amandola playing? He is practicing and he is as an owner he is set to play. Yeah so they're gonna have a nice arsenal there. I think their offense comes back in a serious way and I just I can never see them really losing like multiple games in a row especially with that second game at home, which was why it was really... It's kind of I didn't like that they beat New Orleans But that would have been they would have lost two in a row there and then come to us Yeah, that would have been bad like losing three in a row. I don't think they do that I don't it's probably the weirdest thing about the nfl is how that ebb and flow works, right? Like oh they lost two in a row. They're not Well, they can't lose three in a row as though as though it's not the same game Jake: Well, you know who's this kind of you know, who has what not one two in a row this year us Justin: Yeah, or in the last like Year and a half So I see you put your score already in there New England's favored by six and a half I like them in this game I Like them to win. I don't think they're gonna score as much as you think they're gonna score though So I'm gonna make them score 27. I have to put this in backwards. Miami's not gonna score either. I like it 2713 Jake: Yeah, I don't know why why and I keep saying this. I don't know if it's just because I just feel it. The Miami Dolphins started with this schedule that kind of surprised people, but they never they haven't gone and beat people. I go back and they beat the Falcons like, yeah, well, the Falcons don't look so good anymore.
48:01 Jake: Like I feel like they lost the bills. No, it's the Dolphins of the bills. No, they just did. Yeah, just last week. Last week. I just don't feel like the Dolphins are that good. the, the, the, the. Everybody loved them in the preseason. Oh, it's Tannehill second year. He's a good They got these two running backs now. They're gonna know how to use them. Their defense was good for the last couple years I don't see any that showing up. Tannehill's being sacked by left and right They just went they just went and traded for McKinney and McKinley the The left tackle from really that guy couldn't even play for baltimore and they can't run for shit. Yeah, and they just traded for him Justin: That's how bad it is and he's terrible. I can't wait to rush the passer. Yeah, so I don't know Jake: I just feel like the dolphins are not they're just not gonna hang out hung on to jake long Maybe you should have Maybe you should have paid that man. Justin: Maybe don't get rid of left tackles who are first overall playing. Jake: So I think they'll be able to score because I don't think it's, they do have weapons, but I think this is a New England pissed off. I think they're just gonna, I think it's the Gronk show, honestly. I don't know why they don't go to him every single day. They kind of did against us. And he'll score two touchdowns this week. So this is the week the don't wanna play against him. I think New England wins 30-40. I mean nothing- I don't want them to win. I'd love for them to lose, but- Yeah, lose, please. But I don't think that's gonna happen. New England wins 34-20. Justin: Alright, and then we got Buffalo going to New Orleans. Hey, Buffalo. Now, Buffalo is coming off of win in Miami. In Miami, right? Or were they home? No, they were in Miami, right? I think they were in Miami. Jake: Oh, it says it right below, by the way. Oh, it does. Justin: Doesn't it? Uh, New Orleans was on a buy. Jake: By the I picked that one correct. What was it? You pick the score? I picked the Buffalo to win. You picked the Hoos by 1211. Justin: Yeah, I did. I did. I did pick the Jets to win, though. Yeah, well. Um... I'm actually going to take points off of my score here. I'm going to change that. I had it 3816 New Orleans. I changed it to 3813 New Orleans. Yeah, I think New Orleans just is going to wipe. Don't know if Jimmy Graham's going to play, but I don't know if it matters. Jake: It does not matter. It's Drew Brees. Well, they... Almost won against New England without having Jimmy Grand catch a ball Justin: Yeah, so I don't think still on the field and you have to pay a ton of attention to him Jake: So I think they win 37 20 all Justin: You know good. This is a division leader. They've won three games in a row
51:05 Justin: They're five and two as you say they're the Cincinnati Bengals the The featured on hard knocks Cincinnati Bengals mm-hmm. I Thought they'd be very good this year turns out. They're pretty good I don't know if you really think they're very adding their defenses a wide receiver and a green that's pretty that's pretty like the top tier of receivers in B If you were to really think about it, you'd probably have them maybe the third best receiver in the whole league. Dalton is certainly. You know, a liability, I think. Yeah. I don't think he's like, you know, the kind of guy that you can be like scared of. Like Tom Brady or Drew Brees. Right. And we just face Brady. We're going to face Drew Brees. I don't even think he's the kind of guy that scares you. Like Ben Roethlisberger scares you. You know, you're like, shit, Big Ben's got the ball. Like. You can't tackle him. He runs around and throws for 50 yards down the field. What I'm looking for here is they have a really good front just like we do. Jake: Over the last five years, there's five top ten defenses. Jets have been two. Or the second. Or no, the third. He goes Pittsburgh, Baltimore Jets. Or maybe it's not the Pittsburgh. Someone else, Baltimore Jets. They're fifth. They're the fifth best defense over the last five years. What are you saying? The sense of the Bengals. You've messed the stats up here. No, I'm saying that the Bengals and the Jets over the last five five years have had top five defenses. Over the last five years combined. Individually or combined? Combined over the five years. Based on what? Like whatever words or points or whatever that stat was they threw up last night. It was a good stat The point is that their defense. I don't think we will talk about the Bengals defense is being they're very good But they're very good. They have that really good line Justin: Like they you know, they they can stop the run. They have good linebackers They did lose Leon Hall, which is big. He's his their best cover corner. So now you've got. Jake: How was their Achilles heel? Justin: Sure. Good one. They, you know, they have Pac-Man Jones and Terrence Newman, both Cowboys cast offs, I guess you could call him. Yep. Not scared of those two guys. Be honest with ya. I think we have to throw in this game. I know, you know, we ran the ball 52 times last week and Rex was all happy about it. Like, you know, it came out with the whole What's wrong with this offensive coordinator? Run the ball 52 times or whatever the hell he said. But I don't think you could run against Cincinnati 52 times and win the game. Well, hey, I was about to say you could run 52 times. I don't think you're going to win for 100. You're going to have to throw a little bit against this team.
54:00 Justin: Hoping that Stephen Hill could have a better game than he's had ever since that Tennessee game where he got his. You know, it's clock cleaned. He hasn't really had a very good game. Really? I don't think so. I feel like you're not. You're not. Am I just making that up? Yeah. I don't think I am. I feel like you are making that up. Can we verify? Jake: So you're saying since Tennessee, even though he went into Atlanta and had like one of the best games he's had to date. Did he though? Yeah. Really? Yeah. Justin: He went 16 for 19. I'm not talking about Gino. I didn't say Gino. You said Gino. I did not. I said Stephen Hill. Oh, Stephen Hill. Sorry, sorry, sorry. You said Gino is gonna have to have a good game. I throw a lot.. Stephen Hill is going to have to have a good game on the outside because look, that's where they're vulnerable. I feel like their linebacker is very good. It's gonna be hard to play in the middle of the field. and when you look right at Stephen Hill he's got since the game where he got knocked out of the game he said two catches for 21 both on that last drive Jake: but what's the other factor you're not taking and that timeframe that also might be hurting. Smith's production. Who else is not on the field? I'm not talking about Gino. I know I'm talking about Smith. You keep saying Smith. Who is Smith? Oh sorry, I'm sorry I'm looking at Stephen Hill. That's who you're who I'm talking about. I know but who else is not on the field who would be hurting Stephen Hill's production? Holmes yes, but I don't know really really your number one receivers off and your number two receiver serves to the homes Justin: Hasn't really been a number one receiver Nor has he had to been treated that way over the course of the season when he was playing when he was You had to pay it and roll coverage over to him. He wasn't doing anything special. He wasn't beating anybody at one good game All right, whatever. I think you're wrong. Oh that to me that's a the castle so I'm going to go out there and say the outside receivers, the guys who are playing not in the slot, the guys like Stephen Hill and I guess David Nelson who is really a slot receiver who were thrown out on the outside need to come up big and play well. We got to hit one of those deep balls against this team and strike because you're not going to get a lot of sustained pound run. 13 yard or 13 play drives against this team. I just don't see it happening With that said I see us winning in another surprise Because nobody believes in us keep that going that works in the NFL kids 20 to 17 another nail-biter Gino another fourth quarter Drive to win the game. He's got four. He's one of I was listening earlier something There's been four quarterbacks since the merger in 1970.
57:02 Justin: That as rookies, it's either as rookies or their first four career wins one or the other. It's definitely first four career wins where they've all been fourth quarter or overtime drives to win the game. He's one of four. Yeah. One of them was Troy Aikman. Can't remember the other two. Jake: It's going to be something we don't talk about a lot, but something I see this week, and I think it's a, it's it's a good thing. It's a good thing it's really good, and it's a good thing. I feel like James needs to a That's it. that's the big matchup. But I think it's the deciding factor is going to be our special teams. And can we can we make it a, you know, starting at the 50, not starting at, you know, the 10. Justin: It's very difficult because there's not a whole lot of run back opportunities. I hear you. Like you really have to do it on a punt. Yep. It's hard to do on a kick return because guys are just kicking it through the end zone. And you forget, like not only. Are they kicking it through the end zone? But if they don't, they're kicking it like five yards deep. And you're like, all right, you can take it out from five yards deep. But you always forget that they're not starting to run from the 30. differently. like starting at the 30 yard line anymore. Right. And three, four years ago, like when And when we really had it rolling and we, those two first two years, those special teams, we were starting at the 30. It was a given. You were kicking it off to Brad Smith and he was bringing it back to the 30. Jake: Well, I'm hoping that we're going to, we're going to be doing more. punt return to me are kick returns. So I think on the punt return game, I'm looking for him to break a move. I think that's just where, I think Gino's gonna play a Gino game. He's putting up and down. He was up last week. Justin: He's been better the last couple weeks. I mean, still pick six. Still, you know, with the awareness in the pocket,
1:00:02 Justin: just has to get a little bit better. He did get better stepping up. You drifting so much and we're gonna see this. He's a rookie every week. He's gonna do something correct something or do something better and all you gotta hope for is that he doesn't go backwards. You want him to keep moving forward. Again, he's literally and figuratively like just keep keep a little bit better a little bit better a little bit better every week. Jake: He's definitely using his legs more and that is important. I don't think that's gonna be a big factor here. I don't think they're gonna let him escape. But there's the threat that he can escape that always gives, I think, a defense that pause, right? If you know someone can escape, you have the pause. He did have some designed runs against the pass. He had a couple. Justin: And the runs that were most effective were not. They were scrambles. But he has a fucking cannon, doesn't he? Jake: He does. He throws a very he follows a very straight ball, like a very like it is a perfect spiral. I'm targeting you and you're getting it. And I think it I mean, he does a lot of interceptions, but they're boneheaded. So if they're not like, you know, a guy can make a play on a ball, he just throws it right to them and throws it fast and nice to them. But like, I feel like in in Pennington, a little bit in Sanchez. He would just throw it and the guy would be able to come over, he'd read it and he'd come over and he had enough time to get over there because that ball wasn't coming in fast. Justin: Well, I mean, you could say the ball wasn't coming in fast when you're talking about Pennington, but he didn't turn the ball over very much. No, but his pitch..., his pitch... He wasn't an interception machine. No he wasn't. There were a lot of picks. Yeah, a lot of picks. Jake: Anyway, I'm excited to see it. Honestly, I feel like we can win this game. I feel like the thing is the special teams, we need to make a couple plays. I'm like that I still feel like we have a game where we have three interceptions in us. Like that we can pick three times. We definitely have one of those in us. And we need to have one of those games. I don't know if this is going to be the game. I feel like I want to see if I could save it, I'd save it for next week. Because Drew Brees can have a five interception game. He's done it. I've seen him do it. Justin: So but this will happen often though doesn't not very often Jake: You know I want to know how I want to the Patriots shut down shut down the Saints offense sure in the fourth quarter Justin: She'll pull fire once in a while Yeah, true breeze so throw the gunslinger out there by the way they interviewed him to see if he'd want to come back Jake: I guess someone made a joke. Oh, yeah, he's 44 and he's sitting on you should see he was terrible Justin: Anyway, why should you look good? He's just happy as a pig and shit. He's probably in shit. He's retired. He's Didn't he play with Kallen Clemens sending dick pics? Yeah, he did play with the Kallen Clemens. Anyway, let's do it He sent a text of his dick to Kallen I'm coming for your job. Here's my date. What's our Andrew situation on the game? Jake: for this game yeah Justin: Still looking like he's out he's kind of like practicing but not practicing right Cumberland Is having a bit of an issue But but we see Rex thinks Cumberland's playing okay, and aside from that I think we're fine like that you know
1:03:06 Justin: A lot of guys just listed as probable or full practice, whatever they listed as these days. Milner's back. Kyle Wilson's back. Cro-Marty's been playing through injuries. Powell, he's not really listed. They just don't want him to run the ball. You know what's weird? You were at the game. but Three times during the broadcast of the Patriots game, they went over to the sideline where Brady was sitting there on the bench and he was playing with his hand. I'm doing the motion like he was he was kind of like looking at it like squeezing it and wincing as though he was injured. Like as though one of those strip sacks where we hit him on his hand. We heard him. They didn't make any... They just showed it. They didn't say anything. But it was like, yeah, he's wincing and like he's making that motion with your hand where your hands hurt. Yeah, yeah. The hand hurt motion. That hand hurt motion. Oh, the hand hurt motion. The pee pee dance, but for your hand. Jake: So the pee pee hand? Yeah. Okay. Can I pick my score? You didn't even make a score yet. What the fuck is wrong with you? Justin: 20, I closed the stupid thing out already. Jake: 26, 17, Jets win. Justin: I like it. Jake: All right, we'll be back next week. Maybe on a Monday. I don't even actually think we have anything stopping us from coming back Monday. So let's get a win and we'll come back. Just our busy lives. Our busy lives. Right, back next week. Until then, as always, Justin and Jake saying. Let's go Jax. Thank you.
