16 Jake: This is the Jet Kingdom Podcast, episode number 18 for Monday, December 17th, 2007. F-ing Pats. Well, welcome to Jet Kingdom Podcast. As always, I am Jake on this side of the aisle and on the other side I have... As always, this is Justin. Hi Justin, how are you doing? Doing okay. We're recording on a Monday night, on a special very Monday night because the holidays are upon us and some of us are taking off to greener and I hope you can guess who is who. But more importantly, let's get to the game that was. Let's get to the New York Jets against the New York Patriots. You can tell that we lost for one reason only. Why is that Justin? Justin: Because I didn't do my normal woohoo when we win. Jake: No, because Alka's not on with us. Oh, okay. If we had won this game, I would have invited him back and I would have made fun of him the entire way. But since we lost, fuck him and he can sit on the sidelines as we talk about him and his... Justin: Patriots I think if we would have won we would have opened with some really cool sound effects to like fireworks fireworks definitely like really cool fighter planes Jake: Yeah, we lost we lost 20 to 10 not with or certainly within the 24 and a half point spread that was and that we were supposed to be blown out and supposed to have the Patriots just run all over us. And in fact, and I know Patriot fans aren't going to like this, in fact the Jets lost this game for themselves. I mean, they gave up stuff that made the game easier for the Patriots and the Jets played very well against the Patriots in terms of defending against Brady. I mean he had no touchdowns which... in a season where he literally shits touchdowns, he had none. And they had one pick off the second play of the game, or for the second play on the Jets side, which was for pick six. 6 and they also got the ball at the second yard line when they blocked a... punts so there was a lot of points given to the Patriots and although we got some of those as well you watched the game, I watched the game, neither of us went to the game
00 Justin: give me some of your thoughts. My thoughts were that obviously the Jets I thought they played their hearts out they played really great I thought they played really, really great. I thought they resembled the team that they looked like last year. A lot of people credit the weather. I say they both played in the weather, both teams played in the weather. You can say that that slowed Brady down, but Pennington's arm isn't quite what Brady's arm is and didn't really slow him down too much, the weather at least. It's more a function of. of what the offense is at this point, that slowed the Jets down. But I thought that the Jets played really well. It's sorry to say in a loss that the team played well, but we played pretty well in a loss. And I think if we played them again, we probably played them pretty tough again. And I think that I like what I'm seeing even though we're not winning every game. I at least like what I'm seeing a little bit better than what I've than what we've seen earlier in the year, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Jake: Yeah, I there's a couple things about this strike me very clearly about this game. One is our defense is not as bad as it was prior to the to the bye. And I what really that's a great thing. Oh, it's good. We come back from the pie. We got a new life. But two years in a row. Now I'm worrying that is it the buy that gets us the better defense because if it is then let's make the bye at the second week or third week of the season and let's get our defense good from the beginning because it seems like this team becomes this dual-headed monster where we play horribly in the first quarter or the first half of the season and the second half of the season we figure it out and I don't want that to happen every season. That's certainly not a good way to win your seasons and we're certainly not going to win this season. 1. 6. 7. 13. The other thing I love to hear all the commentators about the weather and it's almost like the jets weren't on the field. The Patriots. Justin: Not at all. We didn't even play in that weather. Jake: No, no, no. I don't even think that we played. It's just that the Patriots played the weather. So it was, it should have been. Patriots against the weather and then you know the Jets were just there to soak up the water I guess because it was the Patriots against the weather Oh, well, we didn't and Brady was bish playing against the weather. He wasn't playing against the Jets defense He was playing against the weather Yeah, right. That was a pisser. Ah And you know, I mean the couple things really stuck out at me. I mean having Kalin go down early It was hard because you kind of wanted to see this guy play against a top-notch defense in a game that was just everything stacked against us. I wanted to see Kellen Clem and step up and play that game and I think he would have. I don't think there's anything that happened in the game that he couldn't have done. You know, the pick, he was being pressured.
00 Jake: Okay, that happens. God knows it happens to Chad and happens to a lot of players. Cheers. He shouldn't have thrown that ball and I didn't like that Brad Smith kind of watched it go into the defender's hands without Justin: Well, no, no, no, he had nothing. I mean there was nothing that he could do. He watched it though He watched there was nothing he could do he could have stepped was he supposed to do stepped up He was cutting towards the sidelines the ball when next towards the middle because he got hit as he threw Watch the play. He was sitting there watching it go into the defender's. Oh my god, dude. There was nothing he could do dude Doesn't matter. Anyway, that was just... No, it does matter. I mean, there's nothing... It was inside the 10-yard line. There was nothing you could do. He could have stepped up and knocked down the pass. No. Jake: Anywho, that kind of... You know, again, it's just I really would like to see Kellen make a play in this game. I'd like to see him kind of show up as a big-time quarterback. in a big time game and show us that we have a guy to look forward to next year. And I think if nothing else, this game kind of showed me as, you know, Jett's Homer number one that maybe, I don't want to say it's because Kellen got knocked out, but maybe We don't have 100% of the guy we should be looking for next year. I know you want to go, okay, it's only one play, but it's just I just don't know that this guy is the guy yet He hasn't proven it to me. He's proven he can do okay against Games and he can he can he can manage a game a little bit but his percentages are I mean It's just like I'm not seeing the full package. He needs another season. I totally agree He needs a season. I know that's what you're about to say. You've got to look at him for a whole season to see what he can do, give him the starting job. But this season, we have to be protective. In an NFL that goes through two quarterbacks, and sometimes you go through two quarterbacks in a game, as we've seen in just a season past, we have to be very protective about next season. and the guide. come in after Chad leaves, which we can talk about in a second if he does, has to be a guy that can win games from the get-go. And I'm not convinced at this point that Kellan is the guy to lead us to the next land. I think he could be, but he hasn't proved it yet. Another thing that I think again talking about the game Didn't talk much had painting because he came in and you know cold as ice I mean this guy, you know, he was sitting on the sidelines having a Gatorade or having a hot chocolate Thinking, you know, I'm gonna watch this game. This will be interesting to watch and he's like, you know second place I gotta play. So he came in pretty cold and played, I think, what we expect of a Chad game. You know, 25 for 38, 180, 60 yards, zero touchdowns, zero interceptions. Sounds about the Chad game, you know. He managed the ball, managed the game well, didn't give up the ball, you know, didn't do anything deep, didn't kind of change the game, but just kind of like got them down Justin: the field.
01 Justin: You know what? You know what? I think Chad played a great game. There's nothing great about that game. It was a good game. I think Chad played as well as anyone could have played against the Patriots. He played really well. And there were plays that happened. And I'll get to it in a little bit. But there were plays that happened that went against him that... were not quite his fault. Like, he did throw a touchdown pass. I totally agree. I totally agree. Mike Nugent did miss a field goal. Totally agree. Those are 10 points off the board when we lost by 10. Jake: I agree. He wasn't the reason that the Jets lost, but he wasn't the reason that the Jets won. Well, they didn't win. Exactly. Exactly. And here's the thing with Chad and it was interesting watching Chad play after watching Kellen play for three games, four games in a row. You know there were a lot of those outs, those outs we used to talk about in the fourth quarter where he'd throw it to the sidelines and Baker would just be there or you know the coals wasn't playing or They would just be there three, four, seven yards down the line and the defense wouldn't think about it. But sometimes, in the last couple games, we saw the Giants do it, we saw the Patriots do it, they would pick that ball and run it back. The only reason they didn't pick the ball in this game was because of the field. That field kept them from like making the smart. choice on the ball and running it back for a touchdown. His balls hang. They take a long time to get there and while they might be well thrown, everybody knows where they're going to be thrown. Everybody does. Everybody in the field, everybody in the stands, everybody at home, everybody knows where Chad's going to throw the ball. He's going to throw it to the left, to the right. He's going to throw it, you know, seven yards deep and someone's going to have to make a play. And I just, that's great. I think he's a great game manager. again. no bigger fan of Chad than I am, but the future of the Jads is not with Chad. And if anything, I hope we pumped up his stats well enough to ship him off to somewhere else. Justin: You know, I don't think that I think the NFL knows what Chad Pennington is. Great. I hope he's worth a lot of picks. I don't know about that. I think he's worth about a fourth round pick. Jake: Well the rumor on the street is Cole's and Pennington for a fourth and a first. Justin: I think that's a silly rumor. Jake: It's a rumor. You could say it's silly or not silly, but it's the rumor. And you know what? If that was on the table, I would say take it, take your cars, we get two firsts and start building. And I think the first one, oh yeah. Uh uh. Cole's at this point is the wrong side of 30 and Chad is certainly the wrong side of 30 and not the guy going forward. This is not the guy that's going to lead you to the two people. Yeah, sure. Justin: Trade him, but I don't understand trading like the only receiver on the team. Jake: It's not the only receiver. We have Khatri. He's a number one. Yeah.
00 Jake: He's a number one, but he's... you I think in the NFL you can pick another guy in the first if for a first round pick another guy get another guy in there and Justin: We'll we'll have receivers take time. They don't just sprout they take time Jake: Yeah, except for your New Orleans and you're a six round draft pick and you that's it one guy name another one Justin: Name another one name another rookie receiver name this year's rookie receiver breakout bow from Kansas City. Jake: Come on. Bow who? Justin: Like he's awesome on that awesome offense. Well he's not, but he's on our offense. But he scored touchdowns. Great. I bet you he's more. Great offense. I bet you he has more touchdowns than Coles does. I bet you he doesn't. Yeah he probably doesn't. Jake: How much does she want to bet? I don't want to bet. Okay, so that's that's there in the air. Let's get to the part of the game that we love the most Let's get to the fools and the Knights Justin: Alright, we do like that. Don't we do like that? Who do you want to hear? I want to hear your full and I know just one. I want to hear just your fools because I called mine during the game. So I want to hear yours. No more calling it. All those things. Oh come on. I just had to solidify the fact that I can have him as the fool. Jake: No more calling it ever again. But I'll let you have it for this week. Justin: I had the feeling that you were going to pick someone else anyway. Jake: Really? Do you really think that when I threw up the stats at some point and the... And some guy on our team had seven rushes for nine yards. I wasn't going to call that as a fool. And I look now at the end of the game, and this man had nine rushes for 19 yards, which is, what is that, barely over two? Two and one with a long of five. I mean, you're not going to look at that, and you're not going to go. We'll be right back. What the hell is this guy doing on our team? The weakest point of our team, other than, I mean, again, offensive line, fine, but, you know, offensive line is horrible, except for Leanne Washington runs four attempts for 57 yards with a 49-yard long run. You can say as much as you want. The point is that Thomas Jones doesn't get that yard. He doesn't get the yard. The yard we need whenever it is, he doesn't get it. Yeah, if we're in a game where we're winning by 20 points, oh, he'll get a 20 yard run. Yay! But when it comes to the game that we need him to get the yard. We don't trust him to get the yard. We don't give him the ball to get the yard, because he can't get the yard. He dances in the backfield. He goes left to right, not front to center. He's not a power back. He doesn't change games. And I'll say this now, and I'll say it when we get to the draft, and I'll say it after we get on the draft. have. We need a game changing running back. We need a guy that when you hand the ball, you're like, oh my fucking God, this guy could run it all the way. And Thomas- Like Adrian Peterson?
00 Jake: Well, that's a good example. LT is a good example. Even you know, Brendan Jacobs, I mean, there's guys you look at when they just get the ball. Sometimes they can change the game. Well, you look at Thomas Jones. He's not changing games. He's not even changing the outcome. He's not doing anything He's not playing big. All right. He's a fool. He's a fool. He's a fool. Who's your fool? Is anybody listen to this podcast as we turn into a into a bunch of bitching moaning whining bitches Justin: No, I got it. They've got it off already, so we can say whatever we want. At this point, we can stop. Jake: No, never stop. Never for sure. Justin: Keep going, because I want to get my fool in. I get to pick him again as the fool, Justin McCair. Jake: If you hadn't of called him, I would have called him five times over. Justin: Does this guy piss you off or what? I mean really. No, you know what? This is the second time that he's done this. Huge plays! Huge plays in the back of the endzone. And I hate the fact that they even called it a touchdown because I knew right away I saw it. I said, oh they're gonna return that. I jumped out of my chair. I cheered and then I saw it and I realized what I saw was like off. Jake: It's funny because when we talked about the Baltimore Patriots and I said, the guy, it should have been called what it's called on the field. The guy had the ball, he walked out of bounds with it. You said, oh, he had the ball, he walked out of bounds with it, it's a catch. I said it should be called what it's called on the field. If that's the call, there's nothing to overturn it with. And as I saw this catch and I saw the replay, I said, you know what? The effing patriots are going to somehow win the reverse of the exact same play that they won the positive to. Justin: It wasn't the same, no. It was the exact same. No it wasn't. It wasn't even close. Gaffney's catch. And I'm a Jeff fan and I can tell you. Really? Yeah really, really. Really? Gaffney's catch was a catch and McCarren's wasn't. He didn't have the ball. I mean I hate it because I happen to think that because he really did catch the ball and he was clearly in bounds when he had the ball on his body, I think that the ball when it hits your body, you caught it. And until it's on the ground, it's on the ground. But when you've touched it, you've caught it. That's what I personally believe the rules should be. Because... Seriously, McCarrens, he did catch the ball. He never dropped that ball. Jake: No, and he ended up with it in his hands clearly as day. Justin: Clearly, in his hands, but uh... So he bobbled it. Right, but he bobbled it... So he gaffed me. I know, but he bobbled it more than gaffing. Oh, more. Well, that's his objective. Way more. Way more. That play should... It was way more. They were both called touchdowns. Listen, I knew that you were going to bitch about... Touchdowns, touchdowns. They were called touchdowns on the field. Hey, Con, it's my fool. Let me talk. No! It's my fool. He's awful. Let's move on.
02 Justin: How many balls did you drop? How many balls did you drop? A lot. Five. I don't know if he dropped five balls. Really? That many? He sucks. That many? Really? Was it that many? Here's what my thing about Joffrey McCarrens. Jake: Why is he on the field? Justin: I don't even know cuz cuz coals is injured. I said I don't want to trade coals there Jake: You have Justin McCarrens. No, I'll trade coals take Justin McCarrens out behind the shed put a bullet in his head and What's move on? Justin: How put Brad Smith out there he is out there who else you want to throw out there? Well, obviously you gotta get some more put put right out there. I don't care I don't care. Put David Harris. Put, put, put, put, put, put, put, put, put, put, put, Jake: who are we gonna put out there? It's pathetic. Alright, let's go on to, let's go on to our night. Fine. I got my night. You go, go. You'll probably pick like Tom Brady or something because you love him or something. He's so pretty, so pretty, you love his lips. Justin: Man, did you see him in that post game? Man, he... Jake: He showers up nice. I gave a spark, gave something, I looked at the field and I thought, oh my god, this is going to be so cool to watch this guy do what maybe he can do, maybe he can't do, but there's one play where literally he was four yards in the backfield, had the ball, and the guy went for him to tackle him and missed it, and then he made a move, and then another guy went for a tackle and he missed that one, and he took like a four yard loss and made into a 6-yard gain. And for that. Brad Smith man you you're. The night cuz cuz that was a fucked up position to be put in against the. Patriots in New England with the rain in the snow and the whatever and you haven't started a game as as Quarterback ever in this league and yet. Oh yeah here you go have a couple have a couple series or have a series or two just just Do what you can do. Do some fucked up double, triple reverse fucking college plays. But you know, do what you can do with your feet. And I thought he did very well for that. You know, I probably could have given it to Pennington if he'd done a little bit more. Just no kind of anything on Pennington. I was both very happy and very sad to see him on the field. It was a very mixed emotion. But I give it to Brad Smith. So that's my night, go be rad. Justin: It's really sad that you're giving him your night. He didn't really do too much. He took the... He had a couple flashy plays. Yeah! I mean, it didn't amount to much. Jake: Actually, he moved the chains a few times and there was that one play. Again, he was... Justin: Yeah, the one play that he set up was the Leon Washington run.
02 Justin: The 49 yard run was set up on the option place. Jake: Be rad, I'm telling you. Alright, who's your knight? Justin: I'm gonna be- So are you ready? No, no. Wes Walker maybe? Maybe. No, no, no, no. He just did a really nice job on Moss when he had the opportunity to cover him. I thought there were a couple on defense. I'd like to- commend the entire defense and night almost the entire defense. There were a couple of standout players that played really well on defense. I'm giving it to David Bowens. Yeah, that's a good lock upon and he scored the only touchdown for the team. So he gets the night of the week on a great pump block. Good individual effort got helped out by the... by the elements I guess and the punter just bobbling the ball a little bit. But the entire defense played really really well. They moved around up front for the most part they didn't get run all over and I think the strategy was to kind of allow or give the Patriots the running game and say hey. If you want to chip five yards here and five yards there, go on. We'll give Maroney 100 yards. Just we're not, we're going to do our best to not let you kill us through the air. So... And a good... It kind of worked. And really good because, I mean, the only thing about giving it a defense, Jake: I think David Bowen's brilliant play hasn't really done a ton during the season, but that was certainly a great play. They did keep... Brady to doing much You know again, but Brady really wasn't playing the Jets defense They were more he was more playing the rain and you know He can't stand the rain. So I was thinking more of The problem I have with the defense is they never got to him never Justin: Yeah, who made a couple of decent plays which drew Coleman number 30. Yeah They sent him a lot around the end. I mean, yeah, Brady just has a really, really good sense in the pocket. I don't think anyone gets to him. You know, it's just him. He knows and he sees and he's willing to stand there and face it and throw the ball. Like he he's he moves around in a very like sensible way, like, you know, very accurate. And every step is very calculated almost. Jake: Yeah, he's a good pocket president. He must not be a rookie. No. Alrighty, so that's our nights in our fulls. It was a Jets 10, Patriots 20. If there were a thing, and I don't believe in them, and I hope Justin does win too, although he's a Patriots fan, if there were a thing... As a moral victory, this would have been it. Justin: You knocked me out. Jake: But there are no moral victories, so this is a loss.
00 Jake: But this is probably a game that would have been tough even if we were riding high, heading into the playoffs. This would have been a tough game. And losing your starting quarterback, you know... two plays in was gonna knock any team out. I thought we played pretty tough, played pretty hard. So, you know, go Jets for that. But let's get on to it. We got a lot of stuff coming up. Let's talk about in other kingdoms quickly because there was some other news happening in the NFL. I mean, let's give it out. Let's do a shout out to Brett Favre for sure. Doing away with anything that has to do with the Dolphins. That's always a positive in our lives. So, you know, the Dolphins no longer hold. Justin: Any of the red are we talking about Brett farver are we talking about the dolphin? We're talking about the dolphins because Brett farve just beat damn Reno's record. Oh of most yards Jake: His last standing record so Brett for I don't think damn Reno has any more standing NFL records Justin: But certainly he doesn't have the record for most appearances in the Super Bowl or Super Bowl victories That is true, although random. Jake: I will say and then yes, talking about it, because again, as all you listeners know, the wife of the Jake is a Dolphin fan, so we spent some time switching back and forth between the two games. And yes, the Dolphins did win against the Baltimore Ravens. So the dolphins. don't match the Tampa Bay Bucks, I think it was 76 or 72 Tampa Bay Bucks, with their 14 losses, and they go on to at least not solidify their place in history. I can honestly say I was hoping for the double history hit this week. I was hoping the Jets took out some Patriots, and I was hoping the Dolphins won because... Oh no, I didn't want that. Yeah, well you're not married to a dolphin, but if you were you would understand. It's purely A plus B equals C thing, but it was a fun game to watch and the dolphins won with Cleo Lemon. They benched John Beck and they won. So congratulations to them. I don't think they're gonna be competitive for a long long while from what it looks like On any side of the ball, but that's okay with me Justin: Weird weather week. Yeah huge. I mean that did you see the bar game was crazy, right? The Buffalo game was crazy nothing couldn't even move the ball right that was pretty nutty the the giant game last night was pretty crazy with the wind no one could really throw the ball I don't I mean you like can't really throw the ball anyway and the Giants had their backup going so neither of them were gonna throw the ball all that well Jake: regardless it was nice to have a Giants fan come up to me today and say you know we're talking about trading weight Pennington nice to have a dog Giants fan come up to me and be like Justin: Hey, we take him.
00 Justin: And I thought, oh, man, really? How about how about that? Really cool play by Westbrook at the end of the Eagles Cowboys game. What an awesome play. Jake: Believable. I will tell you, I mean, thank you for bringing it up, Justin. Even though you're a Patriots fan, we do love you. Unbelievable. I watched that play. We were actually watching the game because it was this. It was the. It's the second half, it's the second game so there's nothing else else we're watching. Justin: We're flipping back between a bunch of games and- It was the- it was actually the net for you, you have the package, but for us normal folks, uh, people who have cable, uh, we, uh, we had this game as the national game. So this was the double header game, this was the only game on channel. five fox here in the new york area why i'm so sorry for all of you Jake: but anyway i was looking back to him but if it games and i went to that game and watching and when he made that play I literally I turn to Sarah and I was like did you just see that she's like what what what I said the running back just stop or Westbrook just stop at the one yard line instead of punching it in. I mean, not punching in, he could have crawled in and I said, that was brilliant. And she's like, what do you mean? I said, because basically he just, he didn't score a touchdown so they wouldn't get the ball back. But now, and anyway, it turned out like it was literally. It will go down in the history books as the as the most intelligent play I've ever seen by any player most Most aware because if you've got the adrenaline running and you punch it through and you're your head into the end zone We everything in you is pulling you into that end zone and this guy had enough ability smarts talent Brilliance to go stop and like to know about the clock in his head as he's running towards the end zone I don't know another player ever that would ever do that I don't think I'll ever see that play ever again, and he just stopped right at the one drop down Justin: Yeah, it was really good. It was like the antithesis of what we did last week where we tried to extend the game he basically Jake: uh tried to make the game end fast and i haven't heard was what did he was he coached you that Justin: did they tell uh the story was uh actually apparently john runyon one of the offensive linemen on the eagles said to him if you get the first down and you have the opportunity to score you better freaking kneel at the one because the game was over and he just had it in his head to just you know Neil he said he got he walked through the line he looked back he saw all the offensive linemen telling him to fall Yeah, and Andy Reid said you know It was a great play and and they all like as a team really I can see that Catapulting the Eagles to win a couple games. Well at least their last Jake: their last two games. Congrats to John Runyon then because that's the best call ever and amazing stuff.
01 Jake: So that was the other Kingdom segment. Fun week in the NFL. It was. It was a good week. I mean, it's always interesting when the Jets are away because, as you know, because you come to a lot of the games with me, when they're away... When they're at home, it's great you get to go to the game But you spend three hours before the game and at least an hour and a half after the game so basically Yeah, you see no games. You don't hear about any games like you you're basically in this bubble of the Jets game and when you're at home You're so involved although because you don't have you know directory because you suck. Basically, you're so involved in every game, so every game... You're so mean today. I know, I know. Justin: Call me a New England fan. Oh, listen... Call me a suck because I can't have direct TV. Listen, first of all, you're a New England fan twice now. Jake: First of all, for that horrible call against McCarrens when the... the Patriots got the exact same call against Baltimore. And the second one is for calling Brady the greatest quarterback on the field or whatever the hell you did. It's just wrong. You're a Patriots fan. That's it. From now on, I'm going to get people to write in. If you think he's a Patriots fan, you email in right now podcast at JayCainan.com and tell him he is. And we will respond to you by calling him a Patriots fan. You wanna get to the picks. Let's get to some let's get to some thrown pics. Okay, what do we got upcoming here? Justin: Well, we have well, we have the Jets you want to pick that game first or you want to wait? Jake: God do the Jets actually play again? Can we do can we go through another? Another freaking week like this. Let's do the other games and then we'll Justin: go through the jet game and then we'll pick it afterwards. Is that what we always do? No, we always pick jets first. But let's go. Jake: Let's change it up. What a fail. Justin: We're three and 11. We're not going anywhere. We have to change the system. All right, so New York Giants. Yeah, let's pick the Buffalo Giant game. New York Giants at the Buffalo Giants. The Giants have to travel up north. Jake: They have to win the game to get into the playoffs. Justin: Very cold and windy windy cold buffalo. Jake: Cold windy windy. Oh boy, it's gonna be cold and windy. Who do you think wins this game? Buffalo. And why? Justin: Because Eli's not gonna be able to do a goddamn thing up there without a shock you. as like his... Ah, he broke his fibula. Chalkie's like his safety net over the middle. He broke his fibula, yeah. He's out. I totally agree. I think without Chalkie, Plaxico doesn't practice, and it's going to be cold as ice up there. His... whatever injury he has is not going to be feeling very good. It's not going to be good. I say Buffalo 23 Giants 13. Nice. I like it Jake: I think that the Buffalo Bills now that they're totally out of playoff contention and as a AFC East fan Thank God But I definitely see yeah, I think Buffalo will turn it up They'll get kind of pissed off last game was kind of a fluke. They
03 Jake: not that they shouldn't have lost against Cleveland, but man that was a buff- now it'd be at home with the Buffalo crowd and the egg throwing at the- at the- at the team as they come in. Yeah, I told- I see this being low scoring. I don't know if there's a storm coming in or not, but I see this low scoring. I- I really see Giants doing like a- like a 10 to the 13 of Buffalo, so I see it being lower, but yeah, Buffalo wins the game. Then we go on to- The Miami Dolphins are playing at New England. We have an AFC matchup. This could be... Justin: Prime time. Hey, Miami Dolphins, they're on a roll. This is a Markey matchup. Jake: I'm so sorry that it's on at 4 o'clock. That means I will have to share my TV time. But yeah, I mean... What can we say about this game other than it would have been better almost that the Dolphins lose because then it would have been the 0-1-14 against the 14-0 but yeah the Miami Dolphins won a game, they won a game at home against a really pit poor team in Baltimore who God knows. Pit for the game. I honestly think, I don't think the weather will be bad, I think it'll be a nice sunny day like 40 degrees. but still too cool for the Dolphins and I think New England coming off that game with Brady doing so sort of not well. I think they're gonna, I think what the thing is with the Patriots is the week that they're down, the week after they're down, they come back and they kill. So I see this as a slaughter and I don't see Dolphins putting up anything more than six points. I see New England putting up like 41 on them. 41-6. Justin: I think in the same vein, Miami will score only three, and New England will score 100. 100-3. So you would take the... Jake: only you would only take the Miami Dolphins if they're 99 point or 95 points per something at that. Let me Justin: tell you something. When the spread comes out on whenever Tuesday Wednesday yeah it's got to be higher than than it was this week right I mean this week it was Jake: what was it for the Jets 24 and a half? Started at 27 or 28 then it went down yeah Justin: This has to open at 30. Jake: Well, I'm trying to pull it up right now as we talk. But, uh, I'm... Justin: It's gonna be a little... it's gonna be too early. No, no, it comes out on Monday. Really? That's crazy. Alright, while it comes out, why don't we talk about the... Well, anyway, we both like... Jake: the the ads big well I mean that's a because your past and you know you of course you think they're gonna score 97 points more than
04 Jake: than the other team because you know you you're on their tip you in Bel Cech like this I'm first up with New York Jets at the Tennessee Titans Justin: is a fun game man I wish you know if you know worries me about Tennessee They do run the ball. Like, you don't have to worry about them passing, because they're not very good at that. They run the ball on you, and that's not the kind of thing that we do very well. We don't do well with teams that, like, run the ball. Like, they have a power running game. And Lindell White is a big dude. and he is powerful. And Vince Young is a big guy, and he's tough to bring down, and he's a specialty kind of quarterback that you have to be very aware of, all the things that he can do out on the field. I think we actually saw him in his first ever game, and I think we picked him off. first ever throw. One of its first ever throws. That's right when he came in to... He came in like one one one snapper last season. We beat them I think in the opening game or last season it was I think the opening game. This was a little rematch for them. I'm sure they remember. and they're fighting for the playoffs so they're gonna want to kick our ass uh but i personally think we will prevail nice i have the jets winning 17 13 i don't care who Jake: plays quarterback yeah i honestly i nothing in me thinks we're gonna win this game coming off that huge emotional high or low of the of the new england going on the road twice in a row You know who's starting as a quarterback? I don't know do you? No, I don't care I just it's it's a brutal brutal game. I I don't I don't like this I don't like anything about this game, you know Tennessee finds a way to win The revenge factor the on the road double on the road factor the the coming off the Patriots game Which basically I feel like our entire team was just focused on all their energy went into that game I totally, totally would see us losing this game if I weren't a total homer. So I'm going to call it 1917 Jets. Justin: You're like Ron Jaworski picking the Eagles. Jake: Or Boomer picking the Bills. It's also true. Yeah, so I would have to say, yeah, the Jets can win 1920- 1917, sorry. And that's it. I think that's all there was. Let's talk a little bit about Jet Kingdom. Oh, first of all, sorry, bringing you back to reality. Yes, the disrespect for the Jets continues as the newing of Patriots are only favored by 23 over Miami. Wow, it's early. No, it always starts higher and then goes lower.
00 Jake: I think it ended up at 18 points against the Jets towards the end of the week. But that's for ridiculous again we were under underdogs to miami when we went to they were they had never won a game you know what you know it you Justin: know what they're looking at the uh wow venge actor yeah i think that they're at that that they're uh that they're looking at the weather and they're saying damn it was Crappy outside and now it's gonna be a week later into more into winter Maybe it'll be just as cold and windy and icy and they can't score as much in that weather Oh, it's bad. Oh, I know That's a bunch of bullshit. They know what I will say though is and you're right It is a bunch of bullshit what I will say and and this I guess this could be a When you always ask me if there's anything more I have to say, go ahead and ask. Alright, so we'll just end it up. Alright, well, hold on. Alright, I'll hold on to this thought. Jake: You can always go to www.jetkingdom.com, spread your thoughts and last thing to say at the forums which are at jetkingdom.com. Always send us an email at podcast at jetkingdom.com or send us a note through the contact us at the top of the page on the website. Anyway you want to do it, let us know, give us a shout out, whether you hate us, love us, what you want to do. But as we wrap up this podcast, I'm going to ask Justin because he's prompted me to sell. What's your last thought, feeling, emotion, go for it. Justin: I'm thinking that there's some interesting things going on here in the AFC East and New York and it doesn't have anything to do with the Jets. It has to do with the Giants. the Giants have to... they're gonna play a big role here or the AFC is gonna play a big role in their season the Giants have to win to get into the playoffs here in the NFC presumably a lot of things have to happen for them to just back their way into the playoffs here so they go to Buffalo and right there I mean that's their best shot Win up in Buffalo you're in they lose up in Buffalo and some other stuff happens Whatever, which is likely to happen They're gonna have to win Against the Pats yeah in week 17 and the Pats who are playing Miami this week are likely To have gonna have a choice there because the Giants are gonna have to play them Do the pads play? Or not. Yeah, they've already because they're gonna have a team. No, no, no, no Jake: Bell Bell check already said we're not taking a snap off. We're gonna play the whole way through We're not changing anything we do. We're going all the way through. We're not we're not stopping Justin: So there's a good thought that's my interesting thought New York team still involved here with the ATC as good thought although Jake: Maybe not well thought out. Anyway, thank you for your long winded last thought. I like to, you know, generally end on a go-jet or some kind of upbeat moment, but you had
00 Jake: to drag us down into some weird kind of New York AFC thing. But I will end this off, as always, with a big hearty, hidey-doo... and Go Jets! you
