16 Jake: This is the Jet Kingdom Podcast, episode number 31 for Tuesday, September 9, 2008. Broadway Brett. Welcome to the Jet Kingdom podcast. It is a wonderful Tuesday and on this Tuesday it's Jake on this side of the Digital Isle. On the other side as always joining me in the Jet Kingdom podcast is... It's a glorious day in Jet Kingdom. This is Justin. Hi across the land. the Jets are happy. So let's get right into it. Let me tell you something. I haven't been Justin: this happy about being a Jet Fan after week one in... I cannot remember. I gotta be honest. This is the most excited I've ever been. Even though I don't even think it's... it's... The best team? I'm just so excited. The season that we went 5-0 to start with Herm, I think was... Yeah, I didn't think that that team was anything special. I think we have a little magic, a little far of magic, if you will. Jake: Just just everything falls into place with far Yeah, all right. Well, let's get to it We have we actually have a game to talk about and a game in which okay the Jets won What a beautiful thing. So the Jets headed down vision game. I love it Yeah, the Jets headed down to Miami to play the new and improved tuna tuna orchestrated chad pennington led ricky william and ronnie brown running miami dolphins call that running huh uh well you know the dolphin fans are all up in our stuff tony's how they were gonna run here and run there and Justin: tony sperano didn't uh you know i think that's the tuna team sperano or supe I'm gonna say Soprano forever. Uh, Tony Speranos, uh, just a figurehead there, I think. Tuna's pulling, he's like a puppet master. He's just pulling the strings. Jake: Well, if he's pulling the strings, then he needs to start pulling stronger, because this game was, uh, you know, while being a very... I have a ghost game at the end and I sat with, as all the listeners on the podcast know, I have a wife who just happens to be a dolphin fan. I love her in spite of that fact. We watched the game. We had another friend over who's a dolphin fan. And so it was like me and the two of them. And, you know, they were all smack talky and the chat's gonna get done and then they also said the chat sucked and then the chat's gonna get it done.
00 Jake: And, you know, at the end they were saying to me, oh, you guys locked out, you locked out, you barely squeaked by. I'm like, actually, not really. The things, I mean, one play went our way, but there were a lot of times when this game could have gone. end. Justin: the So. Both teams looked way better than they were last year. The Jets looked better than they were last year, which is great. The Dolphins looked better than they did last year. They're not going to win one game this year. They're going to win some games. Jake: I totally agree. I think that's the one thing that again, we'll talk about the Jets and how great they are because they are great. They're great. They're phenomenal. And Broadway Brett is back or here to stay. Justin: I don't know. He said New Yorkians. And that doesn't fly with me. I think I say New Yorkians. I don't think anyone says New Yorkians unless they're Mississippian. Well, that's probably true. But he's not a New Yorkian. Jake: So what does he know? I think that the dolphins are a team that, you know, again, I think I picked them to win six this year. I probably wouldn't change that much. But I think they're going to show a couple teams, a couple teams who normally would think, they'll just wipe their butts with the dolphins. I think the dolphins are going to stand up. I think they'll stand up and they're going to play and they're going to win a couple games. is free. is efficient. The chat that I know doesn't throw up a lot of picks, but the chat I know from last year, in the end of the game when we. Need. needed him to throw the touchdown. He threw the pick and say, you better hope you need to feel good. Justin: The time because he's he cannot squeeze a pass in from 18 yards, right? You have to be wide open and you're not going to be wide open when it's, you know, 10, 12 seconds left on the clock and the ball's on the 18, you're not gonna have wide open receivers. There's gonna be tons of guys covering everybody. And let me tell you, if it wasn't done already, I believe it has. So fire the man who chose Tedkin Jr. in the first round. 6 7 8 overall if it wasn't done already fire that man And I'm sure already has been done since the tune is in town, but get rid of that guy He's he's only a second year, but I don't see it. I don't understand Yeah, there's a lot of problems on the dolphin side. There's not much there Jake: I so this isn't the dolphins podcast no it isn't they have their own podcast so fuck them This is the Jet Pocket. So let's talk about some of the awesome things. First of all, there were basically two plays that kind of cap up this game.
01 Jake: There was the bomb to Kachri that just steps back. He does a play action play to Thomas Jones. And then he just lights it, lets it go like us jet fans haven't seen in years. I know. Justin: That was great. I jumped out of the chair. here. Jake: And it flew down into Kachri's hand. Kachri, it looks like he had to slow up a little bit to get it. It's interesting. In the end, Brett came back saying he actually thought he overthrew Kachri. I was like, you didn't overthrow him. You could have kept it another five yards down and he would have caught it. But anyway, he caught up with it. And then right, then broke a tackle, which you got to love. It's sort of a Kachri thing and went in for the touchdown. down. getting the jets up 7 to 0. At that point, it looked like then we went back and forth trading. They started off and we started off having three and outs. I guess the next big thing was when we went down for the ... I'm trying to think, did that happen before looking at the drive terms? Justin: What happened was we went down and... and... Nugent... injured himself on that field. Yes, that was a lot. And then and then we, you know, we went back down the field and scored a touchdown on that ridiculous Hail Mary type play to Stucky. Yeah, which is another little touch of magic from five. We're going to see a lot of these little moments and in this season where it's going to be like a far from magic moment because you know, he has these and, you know, it's it was crazy pregame because It was like Brett Favre running for president, I swear. It's just like it was like everywhere you can turn. There's like six pregame shows on and you cannot turn to a channel without seeing the Jets on TV. It's brilliant. Jake: What are you saying? Are you saying it's a Obama far of ticket? Because it might win. I got the south. I got everything. It was. I know we were texting before the game. You're right. Everywhere you turn. Even on the same channel, because I always watch ESPN, it was the same channel. It would go back and talk about it. Let's go back to see how Brett has been doing in the last five minutes since we talked about him last. It was unbelievable. As a Jetfan, it is. It's wonderful. Your team is important. Your team is something they want to talk about. It's not just like, you know, it's great. Justin: And the other team won the Super Bowl. Right. Like it gives you a little bit of a little bit of a little edge there in the media, which is always fun. That was totally awesome. Where we're just all over the place with this week one. Oh, let's go back to the to the game, which which was interesting because this moment almost, you know. almost claustrophics the game because you think, oh, insignificant extra point because, you know, they threw that touchdown because they couldn't kick a field goal because they didn't have a field goal kicker, then they end up scoring six points and then they have to go for two because again, they don't have a field goal kicker which... almost cost them the game. Yeah. It's interesting to me that there was absolutely no, uh, there's 53
03 Justin: professional football players on the roster and only one can kick the ball from 20 yards between a huge upright. Like these guys are professional athletes. There's not one. guy on the side. Ben Graham has been kicking footballs forever. He can't kick one through the uprights. You saw Kellen Clemens warming up on the sidelines. I can't imagine a DB or even a running back couldn't kick the ball through the uprights for an extra point, or has never at least tried to. You know to say to coach hey, I could do this. Yeah, I guess it was worth the try for two, but whatever It's interesting because it led to Jake: Assigning Jay feely. Yeah, so that's I mean that's kind of like after the game stuff, but yeah, let's go through Let's get back into the way we got we got 17 weeks or I guess 17 plus cuz no 16 weeks of games because we don't do fools and and nights and for any other game but let's get some nights and let's get some fools I'm gonna do nights first since we won the game and let's go to you what do you give me your Justin: night give me your night of the game my night is going to uh i i always do this i always want to pick like the whole defense because uh the defense played so great uh and there were a couple guys who I really liked the way that they played. But I'm gonna single out one guy. I'm gonna single out Calvin Pace First first game with the team first regular season game that is and this guy is good I see why we signed him. Yeah is exactly what we wanted Victor Hobson to always be and Brian Thomas on the other side is so he is the opposite of Brian Thomas and they can both play that kind of tweener The end linebacker, one of them's going to blitz. You don't know who it is on every play. And that's what drives teams nuts with the three four. When you have guys like that on the outside and then you mix in a guy like Galston down the road who might play that same role. But I'm going to pick Calvin Pace. I know he had at least one sack. I don't have the stats in front of me, but he he seemed to be all over the place in the backfield. all game and I was really impressed with him. Jake: We had four sacks overall in the game and I agree that was he was he showed up and he I think he's a difference maker and that's a great pickup. I don't care how much billions of dollars. Yeah I wasn't Justin: I wasn't really watching for him to be a standout and he kind of was so that's why I'm giving him a night. Jake: I'm gonna make my two nights. I'm splitting up. You don't get to I get to know that bullshit I control the the podcast I get to So I'm gonna give them to I mean the obvious let's get the honorary mention, okay I'll have one official night and I'll have an honorary mention
00 Jake: My honorary mention, my honorary knighthood, um, it's just gotta go to bread farm. I mean, no. Yes. See, that's bullshit. No, it's not. Justin: No, here's now your pant, now you're one of those six networks doing the whole three games. Jake: So what? You're pandering. I'm in. I'm all in. Justin: Let's wait for him to earn the knighthood to give it to him. Jake: Winning the game with two touchdowns is what I consider 375 I don't care. I don't care if he has to if he never gets over 300, but we win every game He doesn't really matter to me. The point is he's on that field. He makes a difference if he makes the defense different He makes the offense different his just being there gives them a different deal and that's why he's a magic and you know I feel like he might get he might get nights every week if we keep winning the other one goes to what I think is you know look back at this game and it was a change and you know probably offensive line deserves the credit but in the stat book it's gonna show up under the hundred one yards and one touchdown for Thomas Jones he picked up just where he left off last year which was basically scoring his first touchdown and only touchdown season against the dolphins and He goes and does it in his first game this year, puts up 100 yards. The stats were good. He was running about 4.6 yards per carry and really did it by himself because no one else was out there. I mean, Lee Ann Washington was nowhere to be seen, 6 carries for 9 yards. Am I back on the bandwagon, Thomas Jones' back on the bandwagon? No way. day. Do I think he's someone who can, you know, muddle his way through? Yes. Would I like to see him have a breakout game and just like bust crap up, you know, absolutely. Justin: He's not going to have one of those games. I think what you saw yesterday was more. I'm not going to say the norm because I think it was an above average game for him. But I would like to see, you know, those types of performances from him. moving forward, I think it's not out of the realm of possibility for him to do that every totally so often. What I liked about Thomas Jones' performance more than the end stat line at the end of the game was situationally he ran well. So, you know, he didn't have a lot of those, you know, like you said, his run. Runs per or his whatever the yardage per per carry was very high over four or five He didn't get a lot of the time last year. She just fell at the line of scrimmage, right? He didn't have a lot of those he at least gained yards And it's important to at least gain a couple last year. We had a lot of second and nines. Yeah We didn't have that yesterday and again, maybe the Dolphins aren't the greatest team But I don't think they're the worst this year either. And they're certainly improved. So good job, Thomas Jones. I think the offensive line deserves a lot of credit too. Jake: And then I'll go straight into the fool.
01 Jake: I mean, tough. You always say you can't pick a fool on a win. I say you can pick a fool anywhere. I'd love to give it to Jake Wong. But I don't know if that is an official rules where I can go and give it to someone on the other team. game. I have given it to the fans before so it's possible. Again, I make the rules as I go along. That's the kind of real power I have. Actually, I'm going to give it to Kohl's because I think there's two things that kind of bug me. One is the quiet homage to Chad not saying anything you know kind of avoiding the media all that I think that's a little unprofessional and then he basically disappeared in this game Yeah, there's the one play that he you know got the the passing interference for and he can do get the first Brett Favre's first Pass of the regular season or as a jet and that's kind of cool for five yards But other than that he kind of disappeared and you know did that drop to touchdown pass uh... that would be something else i you know if i have to give one to someone i'm giving it calls i'd like him to step up a little bit and not and you drop this stuff i know he's dropped and i was talking to media he said hey listen i didn't i didn't know how to do it didn't want to be on one side say bret's good cuz i feel that's not you know nice towards my friend chad and i was a chance great because that's not great towards you know bread and so either way i'm in a situation think it's a nice thing to say but they could handle it much better so i give him the full who is your full of the game Justin: Well, let me tell you something. I think Coles just needs some time to play. I give him the fool of not playing during the preseason. I don't know, was he hurt or was he just not playing? What the fuck? I don't know. How did classical burst do when he didn't play the entire season? classical burst was pretty freaking awesome, the other guy. But aside from that, let me give you my fool. I have, I want to just give the whole kicking game a fool. Um... Give it to bad giving it new Jim because he got hurt so he heard him I'm gonna give it he did hurt himself and he got in in the process He missed a field one almost cost us the game. So I'm gonna I'm gonna actually give it. I want to give it to Ben Graham Not to Mike Nugent. I'm gonna give it to Ben Graham for a couple reasons Number one, why the fuck couldn't he kick an extra point? Number one. Number two. Why is he so awful at the end of the games? He gave them really good field position and if not for a lucky bounce it would have been really good. And if not for Ted Ginn being an awful punt returner and being really inexperienced and not running up and catching the ball. They would have had the ball at like the 50. Like you can't have that at the end of the games. Hit the ball man. So I'm gonna actually give it to Ben Graham. Jake: Alright, well, I feel ya.
00 Justin: Because I'm a little upset at him. I think he should have been able to step in there and kick an extra point. Jake: I feel ya, dog. And at the at, it is the Jets 20, Dolphins 14, we are 1-0, and splitting the division with the Pats, which brings us right into other kingdoms, our news segments, what's going on in other kingdoms. Do we even have anything to talk about? No, so let's just go on to our picks. Okay, so the big, big, big, big, big news and I know I've seen and talked to you about your feelings about it and I hope you keep them a little bit lower than what you said to me offline. But generally, there was a play in the Kansas City game and no one out there doesn't know this so I'm not going to be announcing it. But Tom Brady is out for the season. Matt Castle is the starter. And there is a huge shift in the power of the AFC. And I'll say, a lot of people are picking the Jets. I'm going to go back. But here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to go back and say, there's a couple of things that happened. So let's just talk. We can talk about that. And we'll talk about it in terms of what's going to happen to the game. Because we're playing the Patriots this week at home. Or home opener this week, great. right. So, that is it. But Colts lost. Chargers lost. It's awesome. You know, if you look at those, the Patriots, Colts, Chargers, those are the top dogs in the AFC. Those three losing, or Tom Brady going out, and Chargers losing, and Colts losing, maybe there's some chinks and some armor there. Maybe there's some chance. So it's not even about, I don't want to say, because it's not clear and we're not in the playoffs. But. It does give you that feeling like if we were to get the playoffs, please, please, please, that we there's some there's some chinks there. There's some there's some there's some play. Merryman's out for the season. Sean Merryman's out for the season. So really, he's now officially out. He's going to go have this. He's going to have surgery. So so there's some, you know, there's some room here. There's some room to do some stuff. And, you know, is it coming by injury or whatever, I don't know, but let me tell ya. There's some farv magic in the end. Justin: Ask any Green Bay fan. He's just magical. Everything he touches turns to gold. The Green Bay fan I talked to is not a happy camper with the farv. That's because he doesn't have farv on his team anymore. Yeah. It was him, Rogers, who happened to play pretty well yesterday. Jake: He actually played really well. Well, we both, that was the joke, is we both admitted to each other that we were rooting against the other person. So I was rooting against... Aaron Rodgers because I think the pack screwed over Brett. He was rooting against Brett because he thinks the Brett screwed over pack And I I don't get it. I'd love to have the real story. Maybe I'll never get it Justin: But I'll head story if I count yeah, you'll never get it maybe in like 50 years They'll unlock some like secret vault where they'll be like the Brett fire of Packers story the real story It's like the real JFK story Jake: So let's just go right into the upcoming game and talk about how Tom Brady being out
00 Jake: I mean, there's you know, well, you know what before we do that though because Justin: That would be a good segue to talking about next week's game against the Pats I just want to talk about how dominant the bills looked they looked good Yeah, a lot of people are actually saying, you know, don't don't You know, don't just say the Jets, well they got Brett, they're gonna run away with this division. The Bills look good. Everyone knows they have some of the best special teams in the league, and they sometimes even win games with their special teams. And Roscoe scored another touchdown yesterday. Their offense is balanced. They have Marshawn Lynch, who's an excellent running back. uh their defense is coached by uh you know their head coach is dick turon who's a very good defensive coach so they they actually uh they're very confident they they finished the season last year eight and eight seven and nine seven and nine i thought it was eight and eight i think you said uh all right either way better better than uh four and twelve um And, you know, they're a confident little team. Jake: I thought that they would beat Seattle pretty well. You thought they would beat them by seven points. Justin: Yeah, well, I thought they'd win. So that's that. And you were right. And I was right. And I think that they're going to be tough. So, you know, they took it to Seattle yesterday. Jake: And that's something to take note of. in other kingdoms. It settles a home team. They only play well at home. They win their division. Oh, agreed. Justin: Buffalo always plays very well in their home opener. Their fans are pretty nutty for their home openers. So they're tough to beat at home in the home opener. But still, am I afraid of Buffalo? Jake: No. Do I think that they're going to do okay? Yes. Do I think it's... If we can establish that Matt Castle is not the next Tom Brady, which of course is the big worry, then do I think it's between Buffalo and the Jets to take the AFC East? Yeah, I do. But Buffalo is like, it's perennially the situation. They always talk about Buffalo is going to do this, Buffalo is going to do that. Buffalo is going to be good this year. Buffalo is defense. But the reality is they haven't been to the playoffs in like nine years. So, you know, we can keep saying that. At least the Jets go up and down. At least we have a 10 and 6, a 4 and 12, a 6 and 10, a 9 and 7. We go up and down like a yo-yo, but at least we get there once in a while. Bills haven't been there in like eight or nine years. So are they going to do it this year? Sure. Sure. Everybody can jump on the bandwagon. And boom, we can jump on the bandwagon. like it. And then at the end, when they're not there, we can all go, oh yeah, just another year for the Bills. Anywho, so let's talk about the Pats. Let's talk about the Brady List Pats. Again, I want to put it out there clearly because some of us don't feel the same way, but I do not cheer for other people to get hurt. I do not wish other people would get hurt. It might slip from my tongue once in a while, but basically I don't want people to get
00 Jake: hurt. I don't- a the That's a way to win games. Um, you know, am I happy as a jet fan that the one of the better quarterbacks Ever to play the game is not starting against us. Yes, I am Would I be just? Justin: Would I be just as happy if he retired making a reference to uh To you saying that yeah to me saying that I feel that uh I think I'm happy that Tom Brady got hurt. Oh man. I am. Oh. I am happy that Tom Brady got hurt. Because Tom Brady is not playing this year. And that means that Patriots are not going to be good. Or as good. So let's go on. So let's go. So I'm happy about it. And you know what? fuck off for saying that's wrong I'm happy about it alright so update your update your your pics I think with yeah you know what you can't do that it's not fair I can't go back yeah really I can pick a new Super Bowl team no I'm not saying pick a new super I'm gonna say you pick them you pick the you pick the I did I picked the pads to go to the Super Bowl okay well yeah so you're Jake: officially a doofus I think I picked them to win 10 games or so. So let's see, what did I pick? I just want to, you know, want to see what I picked just so I can go back and say whether I think they're going to get there or not. Clearly, clearly a big loss. I picked 12 and 4. I seriously don't think Justin: they're 12 and 4 anymore. I think I had them at like 13, right? Yeah, something like that. I think they're going to win 9. I mean, they're still going to win some games, but they're not going to be anything to really be average. They might make playoffs. They might. Jake: All right. So let's talk about this game. So here we go. We got the Jets coming up. We got Jets Patriots. We got home opener. We got a Brady list Patriots. Maybe the chicken is the time. This is the time to take it to the house. Matt Castle, who was hurt all preseason, who has started a game at any level since Justin: 1999. 99. Jake: Yeah, the guy's gonna be cold. He's not... Justin: He's a career backup. He's not. That's what he does. He backs up good quarterbacks. Jake: So what do you think? Well, what do you think the Jets are gonna do and how do you think the Patriots are gonna do? Justin: Well, it's so odd because you never know with this guy. He is a lot like Brady in the fact that he's a backup in college and... Now he's a backup in the pros, so it's weird, but he went to big school, USC, and he was only a backup because Carson Palmer and Matt Leiner were ahead of him. So it's hard to say, you don't know if this guy's going to be good or not. Plus, when Brady came in, it was because Bledsoe got injured and Brady came in, and they changed their style. video. when they went from Bledsoe to Brady. With Bledsoe, they trusted him to just go out there and be a quarterback and, you know, had a full playbook, wing it down the field, do what you do. When Brady came in, they focused more on short, quick passes, deception, running game.
06 Justin: power nasty game and playing defense and just playing good solid you know football like Belichick style and if you watch that's kind of the way that they won that year that they won the Super Bowl a lot of wide receiver screens a lot of quick passes to the right quick to the left one-step drop kind of stuff and that's what I think that we're gonna see out of them a very quick screen pass kind of offense. They're gonna really scale it down and focus on small things like that and make sure that they can do safe things, quick safe things and not make any mistakes and try and win that way. Do I think it'll work for them? No, I don't think they're as good on defenses since they were in the past, I think they're all, I think that they're, you know, they're not as talented. I mean, they're certainly older. Um... And... and... I just don't think Castle is Brady. It's, you know, there's one... there's one Tom Brady, and that's... that's it, you know? Uh, you know, it's not like, ooh, maybe Kellen Clemens could be the next Brady. Ooh, maybe, uh, Brooks Bollinger could be the ne... No, there is no next Brady. There's Brady. That... that's it. He's... one of the you know if not for Peyton Manning you'd say he's the best quarterback in the league now you have to say you know one of the two best quarterbacks in the league he's he is you know this era's Joe Montana he is that guy so there is no next Brady they have a Brady they found him Jake: that's it you don't get another one yeah I mean I agree and I think that the key to this game is going to be. Well, basically, they still have weapons. I mean, it's not a weaponless team. Sure, they have Randy Morris. They have Randy Morris and they have Warren Samorany. They have two. They have a running back. They have a running game. They even have, you know, our friend, Lamont Jordan. They have a running game. Sam and Morris. And they have a passing game. They got Wes Walker and they got, you know, they have weapons. Here's the deal. It's good to see you. Those weapons depend upon their ability to keep the ball and protect Matt Castle. I cannot imagine that Mangini is going to put in or have Sutton put in, I don't know, 10, 15 new blitz packages because one of the things about being a quarterback that makes a good quarterback. good is being able to step up to the line, look at the line, look at the defense and say, I know what they're going to come at me with. I know where the pressure is. I know where that guy's going to drop back and where that guy's going to come in because I've seen it before and I've seen this team before and I've studied the tape. And I just don't think Matt Castle can study enough tape in the next five days to get him ready to, you know, what they're going to unleash on him. And I think we do have the players now between Jenkins in the middle, Pace Harris. yep That's the difference. We have the players now. We were setting up to go after Brady, and now we're setting up to go after Castle.
03 Jake: Brady could probably handle it. Castle will not be able to handle it. I expect them to pressure the hell out of him. I think we're almost going to do exactly what we did against the dolphins, which is we're going to just try to sack the crap out of him. and and dare them to run or do you know how great is it to have a big fat guy in the middle again Justin: yeah let's give it that now come on we've talked about this at length how great is it to have just a big fat guy and i i've gone on record with this many of times i love big fat guys in the middle. I love it. I think having Chris Jenkins, if you can... Just play that way for 16 games. Just stay healthy. Just do what you did yesterday. Oh, my God. They did not run for 50 yards. And that is a decent running back tandem on a team that is going to run the ball. Jake: Yeah. Whose whose job is to run the ball? Like that's the entire mission. Justin: They have to run the ball. That's their game. They have to run the ball. I love it. It frees up Harris to just go all over the place. Barton to go all over the place. You guys are flying all over the place. Let's give a shout out. Just having a big fat guy in the middle. Jake: Let's give a shout out first. Our last shout out, then we're going to put down some numbers here. I'm going to say you better give your picks ready. But let's give a shout out to Dwight Lowry, because Dwight Lowry was all the fuck over the place. The guy who. You know pick up this a total rook. We now have what I think is a pretty good Justin: Cornerback situation and I like I think that I I don't think Justin Miller's gonna win his job back What do you think? Not the way it's looking now. I don't know what there is to win back from Yeah, I don't think he's going to win his drawback. I think that's it. All right. Jake: Let's kick it off with thrown picks now. Let's get some start at Jacksonville at Buffalo. So we have a tough game. AFC battle. Jacksonville, very tough, tough team. Buffalo is again at home, so you could give them their, they play tough at home. I get I'm not a believer yet. I'm not a believer in I don't think that the Seattle Seahawks had the weapons You know, they're missing like two or three of their their wide receivers I I just think that it's it's time for someone to put them in their place Although Jacksonville's has some injuries already I'm gonna call it That's a little high for what actually now I think getting it may change my mind. No, I'm not gonna take my mind I'm gonna call it 31 30 Jacksonville wins Buffalo loses. Good lord. That's a lot of points for that game. Yeah Justin: Those are two defensive teams. I I don't I don't see I don't see the score being that high You know Jacksonville, I'd love to see them go 0 and 2
00 Justin: That would be phenomenal, but I really don't want to see Buffalo go 2-0. That would suck. I'd love for both these teams to be 1-1, so I'm going to choose this game with my heart. And I'm going to say Jacksonville is going to beat Buffalo in a heartbreaking 17-16 victory in Buffalo. Hello. Nice. Jake: Alright, then we have the Arizona, the Kurt Warner-led Arizona Cardinals headed back to Miami so he's not going to be a factor. Talk about a snooze fest. It's the Cardinals against the Dolphins. It will be on ESPN, the Ocho. Justin: This is seriously break out the number six announced team and send him down there. Wait, I- Send the deaf guy down there to do the game! Jake: Sorry, hold on. I got a call. Wait a second. Yes? No, I'm not interested in doing that game. No, that's fine. Justin: We're doing a podcast? Thank you. We're doing something with more listeners. Send the blind guy down. Jake: Alright, so, you know Kurt Warner, I think, again, I think their Miami has enough talent to beat the Cardinals Which isn't saying much. I see Miami winning this. I think they were kind of jazzed by almost winning against the Jets I think they win 23-21 Justin: Jacksonville, Jacksonville, I'm sorry Arizona, they were able to win last week. Jake: Against the 49ers. Justin: Yeah it's a division game. Jake: The 49ers. Justin: The division road game. Jake: 49ers. Justin: That's like the Jets won against the Dolphins. So it's like the same thing. I don't know if Miami's gonna win this early. So I'm gonna pick Arizona to win this game in a very In a blowout now in a real high scoring shoot about fest Jake: 21 17 21 17 already and then the game of the week for us anyway The only game that we'll probably get to watch because we'll be at it is the New England Patriots led by the star quarterback Matt Cassell coming down to the New York Jets in the Meadowlands led by some schmo called whatever Brett something Anywho, I think this is going to be a win for the Jets obviously I do think we'll be able to score. I don't think it'll be high scoring because I think after we get to a certain point, it's going to be a little bit bend, don't break, kind of like visiting against the dolphins. It'll be familiar. I don't think Brett's ready to light up people yet. I think he's still going to be playing off the back foot. I'm going to call this one 24-17. New York Jets, Jets, Jets. Win, win, win. Wow, 24-17.
01 Justin: Yeah, we picked this game last week. I think the Jets to lose this game. We did. We did. I'm going to change my mind based on the fact that Tom Brady's injured. I'm going to go ahead and say that the Jets are going to actually win this one bigger than you said. It's going to be 27. 13. 27. Yeah, 13. Interesting. So you actually think we're gonna kick a field goal. Yeah, I mean, Jay, Jay Feeley, Jay Feeley will be there and he can kick. Jake: Yeah, he's, he's so good. He's been kicked off two teams in two years. Justin: Whatever. I mean, somewhat he's a kicker. That's what kickers do. They get kicked off teams because there's not a kicker. Jake: Isn't Vinatary still around? No, Vinatary's with the Colts. This is the guy from the Colts. Vander Jack. Justin: He was terrible. He couldn't kick anymore. Jake: He was a really great kicker. Justin: And then he lost it mentally. He just couldn't kick anymore. That's what happens to these guys. Jake: So that is it. I want to put something out to you just now. No heads up on it. Let's make this season interesting with our picks. So for the next podcast, we're going to come back. I'm keeping score here. I have our picks down. I'm writing them down, which we do. Nice. Let's put up a little something. Let's think of a little bet. Maybe in the Mike and Mike kind of embarrassing bet or something. Maybe you have to sing something on the last podcast or just something. We'll come up with a bet and we'll play it off each other at the end there. So that will be something for you guys coming in listening Justin: a lot next time. So wait, what are our records so far? Jake: Uh, you're ahead. I know you have last week's. You're ahead by one game. I'm up. Yeah, you're up by one game. It's a long way to go, buddy. And all right. So having said that, it is the end of the podcast. I'm giving you. Your little heads up. That. I want some little moment, little something. Give me a, give me a, give me, you know what? Here's what I'm going to do. Instead of asking for a little something, because you always. No, I have something today. Oh, I was going to give you something easy. I'll give you a, you know, a layup. All right, go for it. Give me your last one. I have something. Justin: I had a thought about the Jets, and I thought, you know, watching the game yesterday, I saw some glimpses of what could. come what could this team be on offense particularly and I think that when the Jets are really when you're really gonna see them really uh firing on all cylinders with with Favre and really doing their thing is gonna be after that bye in week five I think we saw a little bit of a vanilla version of the offense uh... yesterday or whenever it was two days ago on sunday and uh... not a lot of motion not a lot of uh... moving around which is something that we've seen over the last couple years uh... it didn't i don't know maybe maybe the offense is different but i think
00 Justin: week 6 we're going to see some magical things starting to happen, putting up some points. Nice. So that's my last thing for today. Jake: It's neither a little nor a thought. It's neither. Justin: It was many thoughts put together. Jake: Could have spread it out there for a while. Alrighty, that's it. Head to JetCanon.com post in the forums, vote in the polls. There'll be a new poll tomorrow. I do not know what it is, but it'll be fantastic. Catch up on the old podcast. This is episode 31, so there's 30 of those you can pick. Ooh, go back to week six. It was a great one. Week six was fabulous. Other than that, we will see you next week, and as always... Go Jets!
