09 Jake: The best place to be is when expectations are high. Get used to it. It's always going to be that way. Get away! Welcome to the 200th episode of the Jet Kingdom Podcast, the longest running New York Jets podcast ever. My name is Jake and joining me for 200 times is Justin. How you doing, buddy? Justin: I'm great I'm just so happy to have 200 episodes. We have 200 episodes I've already buried the game ball Looking forward one game at a time Terrible that makes sense at all. No, not at all. I don't even want to think about what happened between episode 199 and episode 200. Jake: So just a little history lesson. We started in August of 2007. Yeah, we're grandfathers of this podcast and shit. Yeah, at this point, there's people who were before, like who did podcasting for a year and now have stopped podcasting. Like we've been like there are whole, there are whole shows that we used to watch or like the beginnings like TRS and even Wine Library. Dignation. They don't even exist anymore. Rocket boom. They aren't podcasting anymore. We've outlasted. We have. That's either good or bad. That's either that we don't know when to give up. We're the last people on the planet. Your choice. And you know what we're gonna do? We're gonna do a very special podcast. What are we gonna do? Nothing. Nothing. We're not doing anything special. It's just a number. It's another number. It is just a number. It is number. It's too bad it was like it didn't land. We always thought it would land around a Super Bowl or something fun but... Or jets win. Or jets win. No, I'm not gonna get that. How about one of the best drubbings of the jets ever since Chad Pennington against the Jaguars many years ago? Remember that one? Or how about just like, Justin: I don't know. Three years ago in the past beat the shit out of us. Oh, yeah. 45 to 3. That was terrible. That was brutal. I think Rex said that one was worse. Jake: By the way, remember that was the year that we went to the AFC Championship. Justin: That's the silver lining in all this. It's only one game. It only counts for one, ladies and gentlemen. Jake: If you lose by 300 points, it doesn't count more than one game. So let's talk about the little lights of that game. We... I think the hardest part of this game was a game that I didn't... If we lose the Pats by 50, I always feel like, yeah, well, that's the Pats. I didn't think that the Bengals were this good or we were that bad. And we were in two things. One, they're pretty good. Yeah, they're good. Two, two, we're not as good as we think we are.
01 Jake: Like, we are who we are, who we thought we are. Justin: I think, I think we were better than most people thought we were. Jake: At this point half, but then we got destroyed. That's okay. All right, it happens Happens to the best of them jets lose 49 9. Let's talk about sort of what went wrong Justin: Can I just say everything like is that allowed? Well, I mean in reality everything went wrong Okay, so we started off. I don't have the the box score in front of me, but we started off by deferring like we always do, which is perfectly fine. And I think a good decision to defer. But and this happens actually more than I think a lot of people realize teams score on us in the first quarter. Like they just get going. And the first drive, usually it takes us like a drive or two to heat up. It's like, all right, so you're down seven nothing. No big deal. All right. So what? But then, you know, you can't go three and out. We went backwards and then we punted away to them and then boom, they're right back down the field and it's 14-0 and this team's not built to win games down 14-0 Jake: and right off the bat. Well, that was the thing. We've been down by 14. It was just like it was just that quick and just realizing the thing that we were down by wasn't like It was the thing that we expect not to be down by like if Gino throws a pick six and then You know, then they run back for something and it's like It's it was them just driving the ball like they just drove the ball. They just threw it And there's nothing we could do to stop that. Nope. They just threw it. They just threw it over our heads I mean Marvin Jones Equaled like production of of someone like Calvin Johnson for the week. I mean he had four touch lines But I mean he's but here's it's Marvin Jones. I know it's not being beaten by Marvin Jones killed the Jets Justin: He had he got targeted eight times. He caught the ball all eight. He had a hundred and twenty two yards and four touchdowns Jake: I mean that is a season for Marvin Jones. Yes four touchdowns So out of the half of his catches were touchdowns Yeah, I mean that's insane. Yeah. So what was the problem? Justin: Ah, everything. I mean, there was nothing that you could really point to to say that was the problem because it was all a problem. We got no pressure. Nobody covered. I mean, Cromartie got burnt by AJ Green. Yep. And whoever was on the other side got burnt by whoever else was on the other side didn't matter. No pressure. I think we got one sack in the whole game, which, you know, was kind of like a throwaway sack at that point. We even got a turnover. I actually thought, you know, when we down when we got down 14 nothing, I was like, Oh, shit. Then all of a sudden, and it was like, oh, all right.
01 Justin: They got the ball back and we're driving and got to like the two yard line and went for it on fourth and Yard or half a yard, right and I'm sitting there with you were watching together I'm like I would go for it if I'm at home and I'm up 14 nothing. I'm Fucking shoving the ball up the other team's ass. I'm trying to go up 21 nothing right now and we stuffed him And I was like, ooh Maybe there's a chance like maybe that was what we needed a big goal line stance right there maybe we go on a 98 yard drive and Just settle the game down like get to 14 7 even like On that next drive if we could have gotten it to like even 14 3 I know the score ended up 14 3 but it wasn't on that next drive. We went like 3 and out basically It would have been nice to settle it down and go on like a nice six or seven minute sustain drive and just go for it. I think the game plan got blown up because we got just crushed immediately. So there was no semblance of a running game. There was no real attempt to run the ball. They did not run a Wildcat play again. I don't understand. If I see it and I'm like, oh, if they run a Wildcat play or two or three, they win the game. Jake: It's like a very weird thing. Like why the correlation isn't isn't actually true. It is true. It isn't. There's the game we ran it like five times. We lost. No, Justin: there's one game where we ran it once and we lost. Then there's every loss that we've had. We didn't run it at all. It just makes no sense. It can't be that easy. Well, It can you can throw teams off with different packages and different players out there on the field It's not like we went out there with like missing a guy like Josh cribs could have run it while Powell could have run it Like we just didn't do we didn't do anything and and Matt Sims ends up deleting rusher on the team Like I don't know how that happened. That's terrible Jake: I mean that's if there's only one I'm looking over the stats here and I'm like the only one positive of the entire thing is That there's nothing positive in the positive was they still they still can't run I mean they could do everything else they rape a the bangles Yeah, they couldn't run on us, which is are supposed to be our strength. I guess Justin: I mean, I still feel like they ran well on running downs like I'm first and ten Jake: I feel like they ran for four or five They didn't really run that much. I mean people get their stats. I didn't run basically at all. I mean they didn't need to But this is a team that has two good running backs who they like to run They like to you know run to set up the pass and then they go deep to AJ Green and they score They didn't need to do that part. They just need to go. They, see, just throw it up there Justin: I just didn't like I didn't. Like anything that I saw. I mean we haven't even mentioned 2 pick 6s yet This is getting This is getting it's schizophrenic every week. I don't the only thing I can say about Gino is that I like him.
02 Justin: I like Gino Smith and I've turned the corner because I didn't like him. You now like him. I like him. After watching him, though, that the two not talking about him as a quarterback. Oh, it's a human. I like him as a human. I think he has great qualities. and things that you can work on as a quarterback. Like he has all the like physical tools and I think he has the mental tools too. It's a matter of them like growing and becoming a good football player. Like he has an arm. It's clear. Clear. He has that. Right. He has legs. He can run. He just. doesn't know how to quite put it all together at the moment. Jake: Well he has two things missing that I think. One is the experience and the understanding of the defenses and where they're going to be. And the other thing is the thing that is lacking, right? Is fucking weapons, right? We talk about, we talk about this all the time. We watched Matt Stafford just. fucking whip the ball down into trip. Three guys sitting there ready to catch the ball and a guy jumps way up out of the field, grabs it, and then goes to touchdown. And they can just do that over and over again. He's got nobody to throw to. He's got nobody. We are again second season in. Last year we looked around like. We had guys coming in off the fucking street and having them play that week. We have that happening this year. We went to sign Graylon Edwards towards the end of last year. David Nelson is that guy. It's terrible. And I think this is where the organization, and this isn't a Rex thing, this is where the organization and Woody Johnson and John a John Isick need to stand up and take a little Thank you all. because you guys haven't put a good team together. This team is still extremely one-sided. Thanks for picking, you know, defense for the first four rounds, or the next last five years in a row. But look what you have. Look what your offense looks like. It's crap. You've got no weapons. We don't have any weapons. So, Geno Smith is a problem. Justin: with a- with a few of those guys had just as little as who what the j- Russell Wilson had a running back. Jake: Yeah, one of the best. An incredible running back. An incredible running back. RG3 had a incredible Justin: running back. Incredible hoobooah. And a system right? No receivers really to throw to. our son was out the whole year. So he's thrown a Santana Moss. Yes. I mean, these are not like incredible weapons that these guys have. But I'm going to use the I look I'm with you. I'm the one who stood there.
01 Justin: I'm the only one who continues to stand there and say that Mark Sanchez is a capable quarterback in the NFL. It's a Sanchez conversation. Well, it could be because the same fucked up weapons that we had last year, the same fucked up weapons that we have this year. So it's the same thing, except honestly, if we're all going to sit here and talk about it, I don't think Sanchez played as up and down and as bad as Gino has. The bad Gino moments are really, really bad. They're terrible. Like, I don't know if Sanchez had two pick sixes in one game. Particularly in his rookie year. I can't remember him being this bad. He had a five-pick game. Because against the Bills, I remember it. The one that I was not there for that game. I remember exactly where I was. You took my tickets. I was on a cruise, but I remember watching it. Yeah, like two games where he had eight. Yeah, but but without that I mean he had like 20 or whatever he had last year I just I can't fathom This like these these really just terrible awful Pick sixes like yeah, like they're that you can't make that throw dude. You can't like Jake: Well, and we were debating, funny, in the middle of our debate, we were getting after each other, we were both mad because the jets were losing and we were pissed at each other and we were sitting there and going after it and I was like, you know, I said, I'm getting tired of watching him make these throws because the throws he's making are the ones that he's having a problem with. I said, he's throwing these outs. He's quick out to the side and they're beating him and they're picking him off because he's staring down the receiver and we're literally debating it and he throws another one and it was the exact- is the exact same play and part of it has to be Part of it because again, it's not 100% anybody part of it has to be you got to give the kid stuff that's not going to make those to say you have to make the Gameplan fit what he's going to do or what he's capable do or what he's not capable do when you're down 35 6 it doesn't matter Justin: It doesn't matter at that point. Jake: It does because you're... Or then you are saying then he doesn't matter because we have the same situation. You don't want to blow up the quarterback. If you're down 35 to 6. So throwing three more pick six is good? No. That's why they pulled him. Yeah, they did pull him. They should have pulled him. They should have pulled him. But it's why you pull him because you don't want to sit out there and just get... crushed I think they pulled because they just didn't want to get injured honestly they don't want to leave him in and get him injured for the season yeah in the preseason anyway so Matt Sims the saver savior of the world no no he's Justin: not playing he was awesome he's the grace ever give me a break this guy Stephen Hill sucks he's falling off the planet He has not been as good as I thought he would. Jake: He's a second round pick too. Yeah, no, I know he is. Alright, so give me your night of the game.
01 Jake: Give me Fool of the Game. No nights. No nights. Justin: Can I pick the whole team? Sure. Can the whole team be the fool? Sure. I'm going to pick the secondary. I just picked the secondary. Sure. Like, these guys couldn't cover shit. They couldn't cover a fucking... Marvin Jones 122 yards, AJ Green 115 yards, Andy Dalton 5 touch down, Andy Dalton 5 touch down. I know. Really? Terrible. Jake: And he didn't even play the fourth quarter. Well they also couldn't get to... well that became a preseason game. Oh yeah. They just pulled the players. They couldn't get to him. They sacked him once. Like, where was the pressure? Justin: A little tit-tat back and forth. this week, Mo Wilkerson had a little something to say about that. He's like, you know, what if we don't have a little time to get to the quarterback because he's because he's able to get his get the ball out so quick because these guys are wide the fuck open. He didn't say it that way. Yeah. But he's basically like, you know, give us, you know, give us a few seconds to get to like cover the guys a little bit so that we can actually maybe against the quarterback. Like there's a little there is a Yeah, one side than the other right if a guy's wide open and You can see it after a second and a half and you can just chuck it 50 yards down the field, right? You're not getting sacked a lot of those plays the ball is out of his hands so quick It did you weren't gonna get pressure on them guys were wide open you cover a guy a little tighter Then you have a little more time. You throw the timing of the routes off a little bit like there was nothing worked. So let's move off. I'm going to get my fetch. He was terrible. Jake: He was terrible. I'm my my fool is is I know it's like you hate when I do this, but it's sick. Because I hate when you do that. Justin: I know he had nothing to do with this game. He he. Puts the meal together. That was a shit burger. He made the shit burger. I hate when you do that. Cuz- It's sick. Cuz of fuck. Jake: Cuz it's his picks. He created that. Yeah but- His picks your picks. He traded away remits. He got milliner for remits. Justin: I mean- Jake: I know Sheldon Richardson but whatever. Justin: Really? His picks? Like- Yeah. It's his first year though. Yeah. The majority of the team is not Jon Edd's Expe- Yeah. Jake: He traded away Revus. Justin: And guess what, they're exceeding expectations. Do not forget that. Jake: He traded away Revus and brought in Milner. Justin: That is not fair. Why not? Because Dean Milner should not have to be the guy tied at the hip. But we're into this in the beginning of the season. But this game is it. Jake: This is it. Our secondary is shit. And we have rookies out there who are getting benched. Well how about Cromartie's shit? Yeah. But his shit was always covered up because we had the best corner on the planet on the other side. Justin: And Cromartie played like one of the best in the league. So if you're sitting there and you're like yeah we got Cromartie, he played like one of the best in the league, okay we're gonna go ahead and roll with Crow.
02 Justin: He's gonna be the number one corner. Right. And then I'm gonna trade away. Let's trade away. He's gonna do rookie things trade away One of the greatest went crazy corners everywhere the game Hey, I don't want to have to defend the other side of that because I'm not I wasn't for that I don't want to leave so blame me. But you're the one who sat there and and has I've always said They did that because they could do other things. I understand why they did it. Listen, I'm a fan. I'm a fan. Guess what if I'm Reavis I'm gone from Tampa. I'm gonna say fuck you Tampa. They saw this I signed this one year at a time No, no guarantee bullshit contract so that I could walk the fuck away from you. Let's just let's just be clear though Jake: This is the game that I feel like those decisions. I'm not saying the season is gonna be basically just listen Justin: Listen, I know you're not listening. It's so stupid. Well, that's Jake: That's not true. Listen, this whole season isn't based on what he did, but this game is a microcosm of those decisions. And that our secondary that was very good and had some of the best players on it now looks like the weakest part of our entire game. And that our receiving core has had no help. and is full of schlubs and Those decisions were partly what he's been doing the team he's put on the field So I have more than more than happy to say that izik should eat a shit burger For this game this type of game is some of the issues are from our personnel and he makes the personnel Justin: You're gonna have to pick john izik for every loss and every win Cuz you're basically saying it's all up there. No, I'm saying it's part of it So this only when we have a shit burger you're gonna blame him But when we win the night can't is not him because he didn't put the team together that he put together We before if he put weight in so the week before when we when we beat the paths Yeah, that's that's not an idzic win. No. Oh Why not? Jake: Because I'm an irrational fan. Justin: You are a rational. I know. That's an irrational thing. Jake: I know. Justin: As long as you know it. Jake: Yeah, totally. Fine. Justin: Let's move on. I'm done with this game. I'm burying it like Rex. They didn't watch game film. They didn't, they were like fuck it. That game's over. That wasn't us. We're moving on to the Saints. I'm not sure I feel about that, but whatever. I feel fine about it. What are you gonna do? Watch it and be like shit we suck. How about you learn from it? Yeah, I think they know what they did wrong. Jake: Really? Yeah. Well then guess what? This week will be great. If our secondary plays out of their fucking mind and our defense shuts down one of the best passers in the league, I'll be happy. Yeah. If they come out and get- Toasted again, then I'll be like maybe you should watch that film a little bit Justin: I don't think you would even you can't say oh well if they watch that film of them getting their ass kicked Jake: Then they would have been better against drew breeze because as a team You know you're supposed to do after a loss you're supposed to not learn from anything and I even look back at the table Justin: All that tape that they watched about shutting down Tom Brady that really worked against Andy Dalton. I mean whatever Jake: They walked the scene. Yeah. I get it. I get it. It's a tactic.
00 Jake: And again, I'm not unhappy with the season so far. Justin: It's kind of one game. It's kind of one game. It's the one game that where a lot of experts, including myself, said we're going to be in every game. Jake: Wait one fucking second. Justin: A lot of experts including myself. You're not an expert. I am. I've been doing this since 2007. My resume is clear. Jake: You have been recording your voice into an MB3 and putting on the internet. You're not an expert. Justin: That makes me an expert. Jake: I'm on the internet. I'm an expert. Justin: I said the Jets will be in every game because of their defense and this was an outlier because that didn't happen in this game. But for the most part, the Jets are going to be in every game because their defense will keep them in every game. Jake: And this game was a complete first on the deep defense. Completely. I mean, Gino made it worse, but he was already in the hole before he could start the game. Justin: No, they were in the hole. 14-0, not a good place for a rookie quarterback to be. So let's talk about the injuries. Cumberland got hit in the head. There was a flag on the play. Little concussion action. Hopefully you can come back and play Holmes still out he's practicing. He'll probably back out if I assume I wouldn't rush to play in this Saints game, although Hill we saw he was hobbling He would hobble off the field and they come back and he play. I heard yeah curly also I don't know what happened to him, but he didn't practice Today's Wednesday, by the way, so we know who practiced and who didn't. Currently didn't. I don't know why. Cologne hurt himself in the game. Didn't come off the field, but did. Yeah, he's playing. Poll a little. He's playing. He's a guy who's had an injury history, so I feel like he's a tough guy. But at the same time, he's missed tons of games in the course of his career. So we'll see what happens there. What we got for news. There was that interesting David Nelson Pac-Man Jones stuff going on like he's gonna come to his house Yeah, like he threatened him like I know where you live and I'm coming or whatever the fuck he said All right. I don't want to spread rumors. I think David Nelson is a nice signing for the Jets It's not a receiver. Yeah, it's the ball good blocker. All he was doing was blocking Pac-Man. Yeah a lot And Pac-Man didn't like it. He got the last laugh, though. He got to pick six. So whatever. All 12 and as well for Pac-Man. That's it. There's not much news going on. All right. Well, let's get into it. Let's get into the picture. There's that whole. Sorry. One last thing. There was that ESPN did a thing like there's a bunch of four win teams, four and four, four and three, depending on the bye weeks. And it was like, Oh, who's the most likely four and four team to make the playoffs? And the panel consisted of, um, Damien Woody. Okay. X chat. Um, Matt Hasselbeck. Yes. Is that the one who's on TV now? Yeah, whatever. One of the Hasselbacks, the one that's on TV and Mark Brunell. X chat. Free SPM X chat. So Woody picked the Cowboys said. Therefore wind team, but they can win that division. We had seven games. So
02 Justin: alright Hasselbeck said also the Cowboys Brunel picked the Jets He said I've been in that locker room. I know Rex I know how he can get things going and I think he's gonna get this team going and he said Jake: He thought the Jets would be the one the four wind team to make playoffs. I like it. I mean the problem is We've lost... In retrospect, in the division we've lost... At the one o'clock game... We've lost terrible ones. We've lost terrible division games. No. Our division are too long. Our conference games. Justin: Well yeah, but the Bengals are going to win their division. That won't really matter. It's actually good because the Steelers' loss will be big. That was bad. That's not good and the Tennessee loss will be big because that's not good either. Jake: And so is the upcoming... Baltimore games can be huge. Yeah, cuz it could mark it will be big Alright, so let's get into let's do our normal picks of the week. We're gonna pick our gonna skip the What happened last week last week you and I both won we both won I sweet defeated Justin: Whoa, Staten Island stapes man, 37 points. That's pretty pathetic, dude. What the? I didn't even see that. Come on, man, 37 points. Did he have everybody in the like? That's just pathetic, dude. Jake: Everybody just, oh my God, he had Robert Griffin third. Oh, well, you suffered that in another week. Jet's D went negative, went negative, negative five. That's no good. And he got, well, who was his Jet of the Week? Oh, Jet's D, that was it. Yeah, that's not good, man. He had black, yeah. Justin: There was a tie. The Upstaters and uh... If I could change one thing about this thing it could be... Yeah, Ties. We need to go to decimals. Um, we'll do that next year maybe. And uh, so MattyJets and BillNap tied at 78. I won, won 12. High week. Yeah, you did pretty well. And you also did very well. You won 101.66. And I had to sit one of my guys. Like this is the first week I've actually come up where I had to sit a guy. I had G.O. and I had to sit... Oh, you had to sit a guy against a jet. I had to sit a guy against a jet. So at the standing level, let's see. There's the upstaters are six, one and one. I'm six and two. Yep. And then there's five, two and one. You're five and three. And then there's a bunch of four and four teams. Jake: So the playoffs are getting sooner. This one goes a little bit longer because week 13 starts this goes to week Justin: 13 no week 14 right now week 13 and it's double so you play each other for two weeks So it's week 14 15 is one met game and then week 16 17 is right Jake: So you can go to the playoff projector. Well, this is a 12 team league. So it might Justin: It might be different the way it's no it's the same up the playoffs. It's already done it so right now Jake: It's me it would be me against the upstaters. It'll be you against the LFEs for Crow Justin: So only four teams make the playoffs out of 12
02 Justin: Yeah, yeah, we should change that but oh well no That is kind of part of our rules. We don't we don't know man. I don't change anything. All right Jake: Alright, let's do a pick on how do you do last week? Justin: Uh, I think I did just as well as you did or just as bad if you'd like to put it down I did okay like it was so last week. I got seven I got seven as well We're basically just keeping pace with each other. I'm too ahead of you Jake: I still feel like I have it in me to catch up because it's I'm sure you do I'm so bad down Justin: Geezer I thought you're talking about just against me cuz I'm just doing so bad. I always be but you're doing so bad, too What's funny is we're both doing so bad and we're not picking the same Jake: So we're just missing completely right today. I will pick everything opposite view you should know I will not let's go Justin: Let's pick our lots of by teams. So let's just throw that out there. Yeah, lots of by weeks and Even with all the buys there are four four o'clock games. So that's good so it's the same basically same schedule as last week and a fun Thursday that we won't talk about and Right. There's a Thursday night game which we won't talk about because it's a FC East team and we'll start off at one o'clock with Dallas hosting, Minnesota And Dallas is giving it ten and a half at home. They're coming off a brutal loss to Detroit. That was a just an insane end of that game. Yeah, it's good as much Daffyred just just chucking the ball down the field. Calvin Johnson went crazy. I don't know call me nuts, but I think ten and a half's too much for Dallas. Dallas is one of those teams They they they can give up points at the end of games and I know Minnesota's bleak and they're terrible terrible But they just hung in there a little bit with the Packers just a little I don't I don't feel like they lost by more than ten. They may have I don't know exactly but I'm gonna pick Minnesota. Jake: I actually think that this will be, again, Dallas is a team that, you know, they're inconsistent. Very. I think this is gonna be the game where they will want to show, because a lot of media hype and Dez Bryant and all that and like he came out and yelled at everybody and I feel like this is the game they're gonna want to show that they're... together, so they're all gonna play very hard. Ponder's back, right? So Ponder's still playing, they still have AP, but I feel like, I don't think anybody trusts Ponder at all. I think Dallas wins this by more than 10, 10.5, Justin: so I'm gonna take Dallas. All right, our first disagreement. Tennessee is going to St. Louis. St. Louis just played really well against Seattle. I feel like this is a letdown. You know when you play really well against a really good team but you still lose? Like there's that... You almost feel like you won, now there's a letdown.
02 Justin: Tennessee's coming off their bye. I like Tennessee. see, Callen Clements could. He's terrible. So give me Tennessee giving the three on the road Jake: Yeah, I actually think saying this is gonna pull us out at home Tennessee's coming up by a good D off the by I should not be picking I should not be picking thing with but I'm going to Justin: Okay Two opposites so far. All right, um San Diego Travels all the way across the country to play in Washington And Washington is favored by one point. I don't know why, but I I feel like I still feel like that one o'clock early game for that West Coast team when they're not that good is really a big deal. So I'm going to pick Washington, even though I know they stink. Jake: Um, yeah, they do stink but I think that they, I mean, they have been able to. We've been saying this- This is also a little bit of a heart pick. Yeah. I'm already in the heart picks. Yeah. Oh. Yeah, I don't think this is a rooting pick. I think Washington at home, I think they're- They've been a team that's been able to hang in there no matter how bad they get but last week they didn't so we'll see I think they're gonna come back at home. All right. Oh Justin: I'll take the point. No, so I'm yes, so I'm saying Washington. Yeah, take a watch. I like the home dog there home dog Carolina is hosting Atlanta. Carolina is like a new team. They're like good all of a sudden. Atlanta is really injured. Jake: Like they gave they finally gave they finally gave Cam Newton something to do, which was something that you gave him a good D. And so like now he doesn't have to like score 55 points to win every game. Justin: Right. They can stop the run. They can stop the pass. So I'm going to go ahead. I mean, it's seven and a half. This is a division game shouldn't be that much so I like Atlanta Jake: Yeah, I think I don't know I just maybe being down there watching Lana I feel like Lana's a better team than they I know they're dealing with injuries I know they have a terrible terrible D, but I don't know I just do a vision game Yeah, I just feel like the land is gonna stick. I think it lands gonna win this game outright Justin: So I'm picking a Lana. I I would tease this if I had like gambling, real gambling. You were gambling, I had a problem. Yeah, why not? All right, all right. Yeah, tease that up to like 14 or 15, that'll be nice. Okay, so four o'clock. Oakland is hosting Philly and Oakland's favored by two and a half. I think Philly's gonna be starting foals. Right he's back. He's back cuz his date cuz they lost him they lost Vic then for then Barkley went in well Foles been out with the concussion right for two weeks But he was playing well before he went out well before he went out and Vic comes back in and came back Hurts herself they put in Barkley Barkley's not an NFL court. He's terrible not at the moment at least so
03 Justin: Um, foals is here. Oakland won last week. I feel like there are like the jets, like they can't string two wins in a row together. So I'll take, um, Philly and the points, which is two and a half. Yep. I agreed. All right. Um, here's a bad game. Seattle is hosting Tampa. Seattle's coming off of like. For them a bad game. They play very well. They almost lost. I mean they're still not a great road team No, but they're home And they're giving 16 and a half to Tampa and I feel like Tampa is just the worst Like I feel if Tampa Jacksonville Jacksonville would maybe beat them. Mmm. No, I think so On a neutral field, I think Jacksonville's taken them. I would actually want to see that. Like go play in London. Jacksonville Tampa. There you go. I'm picking Seattle. I don't care about the points at all. I really don't have to. I don't give a shit. Tampa doesn't have their running back. They have a rookie shitbag quarterback. Their defense is nothing. Our win versus them is looking worse and worse as the weeks go by. Right, they'll be barely won. So give me Seattle. Jake: I can't, 16 and a half, too many. Let's take Tampa Bay. All right. I just, I just feel like they're gonna stick it in there and they can lose by 14 and still get drubbed. But there's something about a 21 point, being down by 21 and scoring a touchdown, you still cover it. I read somewhere, Justin: Shiano, like finally... realized like maybe I should start playing. He did it last week. Man. During Thursday Jake: night football he put he put Rivas on Smith. Yeah. Yeah. Maybe I should maybe Justin: you know use the best cover corner in the league. Well you know we can get Jake: off on a Rivas thing but it's funny how before in preseason it was a lot of like I'm back 100% no problems like I'm good I'm on the field. Now they've been sucking and he has not been up to himself. I know it's a zone. I know it's a he's like saying I'm like 65% of where I was he's saying yeah, he's a little bit of a 75% Justin: I was watching that game. He looked fine when he was covering whoever every time the ball was thrown near him It wasn't completed and any time he was thrown somewhere else. It was like it is to me he had a couple he had a couple guys watching because of fantasy implications, but he had a Jake: He had a couple of like, grievous moves where he just, he's just following the guy, shadowing him, the ball comes out and he just walks right in front of it. Yep. Just knocks it down. Justin: It's like, oh yeah. I remember when he did that. Yeah, for us. All right, next up. All right. This grievous thing, I'm never gonna get over it. Get over it. I'm not. All right, let's go, let's go. All right, I'm over it. Baltimore. We'll get him back next year. Goes to Cleveland. in a division matchup. Baltimore on the road favored by two and a half. Off their by? Off their by. I normally would take Cleveland here. I like Cleveland as everyone knows.
02 Justin: And I like them at home getting points. But I feel like that bye week, I feel like Baltimore's good off their by for some reason. I don't know why. So I'm taking Baltimore. Yeah, I think Baltimore's. is they're going to refresh some things after that. I think so, too. I think I'll take Baltimore and reshuffle some things around. All right. Let's skip that one and go to Sunday night. Sunday night matchup. Jake: We get one out of the two of the four matchups are again. I think two of the four are two of the three are good. This one, I think, is the least of the of the night games. Oh, the night game, the one that we haven't talked about. And then the next two, I think. Two of them are good. This one's one I think is the weakest of them. Justin: I think they're all actually good games. Um, for you two, Sunday night and Monday night are both division games, so that's good. Um, Houston's just a little injured and the quarterback situation's a little up in the air. Jake: Well, that and their running back, they signed three running backs today or this week. Justin: Yeah, but they're, you know, they're saying... Aaron Foster will will be playing he's he's heading towards playing . I heard as though around that Tate was gonna play in Illinois He's gonna try to play with broken ribs, but anyway, alright, go ahead So but anyway doesn't matter we Andy is in Houston and he's only giving two and a half That's not enough. So I'll take Indy agreed. I'll take Indy and then we have Monday Night Football Green Bay hosting Chicago and Green Bay is giving 11 to Chicago. I like the points. I like Chicago on Monday night. Too many. Too many. Too many. Too many. I'm going to take Chicago. I'm not afraid of the points at all. Monday night. I don't know. I feel like... gonna come back sooner than they say he's gonna come back and he was supposed to like he may only miss just this game So who's the fronting quarterback? one of the Macau brothers. Okay, I'm sure which one. Jake: Alright, let's go make our thrown picks where we pick every AFC each match up and talk about it more and give a final score. Justin: Yeah, so the first one is tomorrow night, Thursday night. I'm actually excited for this game. This is a good Thursday night game. Cincinnati goes to Miami. And after just watching Cincinnati and what they just did to us, I can't imagine them not doing something somewhat similar to Miami. Miami's not very good. We were watching them play the pads, thought they had them beat. They beat the crap out of them in the first half and then couldn't. Couldn't stop that nosebleed in the second half So I like I like Cincinnati here to be able to throw the ball all over Miami run the ball on them and Shut Tana Hill down. I mean he lost Gibson for the year. Yeah, he's out
00 Justin: Which is good because he's actually a nice player and turned into a really good target for a Tana Hill like Mike Wallace sucks He's terrible. He's terrible. He's gonna kill us, but he's terrible. He'll just Jake: He'll just run down the field. But Tenno's not good enough to get to him, but whatever. Also Wallace drops balls. He'll just hit him in the shot. Justin: He's a dropper. So I'm gonna, I like, by the way, Miami's home there, a home... Home Dogger. Home Dog, getting two and a half, but I don't think it's even close. Like, I like this game to end. 38. That's right. To 10. Jake: I think this is a, one of the stats that's been out there is that Tana Hill's gotten sacked like averaging four or five times a game or something ridiculous. And if you thought you were getting sacked before, they, the Cincinnati, can get to you. They've got a front four. They got a front. Sad guys including mr. Geno the other Geno the winner of the Geno versus Geno I just see them just crushing them crushing them on Thursday night Justin: The only thing is it's a quick turnaround for both teams. Yeah, but yeah, they do have to go on the road on Thursday night Yeah, it's not easy not easy, but I feel what that's easy to go on the road on Thursday night, by the way That's why they took the second half of our game off. They should have through smart Jake: So all right, I'm gonna say they couldn't just go home. They had to stay 29 29 13 Cincy I wonder if they watch the film Justin: Marvin let's watch this film together. This is watch this is awesome. All right next game Kansas City goes to Buffalo another home Underdog Buffalo getting three at home. By the way, they're all home dogs except for Three of the four really four of these AFCs matchups are home dogs. So I like this game to be very close. Really? Yeah, Kansas City has You know, I think they played two very close games in a row now And both of those, you know were I think decided under six or under, even though they've they've they've had like a bunch of games that are big and a bunch of games where they play close. And I think Buffalo is really good in Buffalo and they play tight games in Buffalo. So I still like Kansas City to win and keep the streak rolling. 1613. Jake: Um, I think Kansas City's got, they've got a really good D. I don't think Buffalo has got any, I don't, I don't believe in the Thaddeus. I don't. Justin: They're just good at home. Jake: Yeah. They play very good there. But they're playing a really good defense now. And I think a defense will travel with them. Justin: They beat Carolina. The Bills. That's true. Jake: It was close. I think Carolina made. That's right. It's going to be a close game. I don't think it's going to be as close as you think it is. 23-9. OK. OK. Justin: All right. And Pittsburgh goes to New England. New England's favored by 7. I like Pittsburgh to win. New England doesn't look like New England. I've watched them now play the last two weeks against us and against Miami. They don't look right.
00 Jake: But what do you see in Pittsburgh? Do you think it looks good enough to beat them at home? Justin: Well, I feel like Pittsburgh started to get something going and then they fucked up last week, last week in Oakland and they're gonna be pissed off and they know that they have to go into New England and win and they're going to. They didn't they won the week before against Baltimore. Yeah, I just feel like they can do it Jake: It's something they can score. I don't think that's like they can Justin: like I feel like they can and New England's kind of the they're the The cure for an ailing running game and that's what Pittsburgh needs is to just get that running game going not have Big Ben just stand there and And try and whip it down the field right so like You play New England, you can run. You can run on them. Oh yeah. Jake: Big chunks. Justin: Yeah, yeah. Omar Miller was running on them. Yeah, you can run on them. So I like Pittsburgh to win 24-20. Yeah, I don't see it. I don't play against the Pats. Jake: I think this is a... I just don't think Pittsburgh can get down the field. I think it came to leave their number one corner will be back, Justin: I think, because he was almost going to play against us. There's almost gonna play against us. Did he play last week? against the Dolphins Jake: Anyway, I think I think I just don't bet against the Pats at home against a AFC big rival 2613 Pats Justin: You wrote something Oh 26 26 16 Which one is it? We're not a one-sided one-sided games here and here we go The game of the century, the game of the millennium. You see my score. Yeah, I'm calling you a fuckhead already. Call me a fuckhead? I'm just calling it like it is. Rex Ryan versus Rob Ryan. Rob Ryan's gonna throw some things that she know he's never seen before. Jake: That's right, it's the Ryan brothers again. Justin: And Drew Brees is gonna be a pain in the balls to stop. end of the year. next stop. It's a nice evening. And they have the type of weapons that we are not good at stopping. At tight ends. Tight end and a fast as fuck little running back that'll come out and catch seven balls. Yeah. In a game. It was not easy to cover. Jake: He's kind of disappeared in the last couple of weeks. He's not been. Justin: He still had five catches last week, so and they still. One and they still scored a lot of points against Jets light Mike Patton defense, right? So now you're seeing it two weeks in a row. I Just feel like New Orleans has too much for us. I so what's your key the castle to lose? Huh since you're picking the chance to lose I'm making them to lose I'm almost doing this so that yeah Jake: No, cuz it wouldn't because when you cuz when they lose if they lose you'd be like I told you show no Justin: You like to play both sides. I did pick them the loot I think I had them at four and five going into the by anyway before the now you're gonna use that excuse Jake: I like to use yeah
01 Jake: It comes to 200 episode excuse train Would you like an excuse sir? And so you think they're gonna lose what I do need to the losing Justin: How do we how are you gonna make sure how about how about I just say what I think they need to do to win? Well, you're picking them the loose, but okay. I'm picking lose, but I obviously I'm not rooting for them to lose. I can pick what I think is gonna happen and I can obviously not root No, you have you listen to last 200 episodes? I route the way I want it to go. Alright, alright, alright. Go ahead. Tell us how the keys to not being crushed 31, 17. His name's Jimmy Graham. There's two guys. There's Jimmy Graham who scares the piss out of me. You gotta do what you did to Gronk and just slow him down and not... Allow Jimmy Graham to go nuts all over the middle of the field and then the other guy it's crazy But it's Kenny stills because that's the guy that's the kind of guy that's killed us all here It's a streaker down the sideline gets thrown to three times in the game But catches three times for a hundred yards and three times cuz like D Milner Darren walls can't cover him No, there won't be anywhere on anywhere. Well, if he's I have to feel like he might be because he probably will be playing. You think he's just done like benched done? Yeah. Well, they're going to give a lot of safety help, hopefully. So anyway, I'm losing 31 17. I just don't think we keep up with them. Well, I by the way, if we win the coin toss, should we just take the ball and just try to score? Yeah. Yeah. Jake: Here's here's really want to give them the ball first. No, usually I'd say yeah, give the other team the ball But I don't think here's the way I think we can win and I think we will win This defense has got to show up to this game and be if they forgot that that game happened They should show up and say all right We are a different team than what we showed we are a powerful D. We're gonna get to Drew Brees. Drew Brees is not infallible. I've seen him throw, I've seen him do some great games, but you know, he's not at home. So that's good. We got him outside. We got him in our stadium and there, you can get to him. You can make him make mistakes. Problem is we don't have a lot of picks for the season. We don't have like these corners that just seem to get a lot of picks. I think we've had like Three for the season total team we had one this week. Yeah I look we had two so we won. I think this is like three for the season. I think we've had three I got it. It's got one pick six against the bats. Yeah, we had one in week one one a week Well, I don't know. It's not been a look just had one. All right. Oh, well, that was great Here's the thing. This has got to be a defensive stand game. This has to be a moment You need to ride this momentum into the bi-week. So I think this is a defensive thing. We got good Geno, bad Geno. It was good Geno with the pads, bad Geno, the Bengals. So guess what we're going to see? Good Geno? Good Geno. It is an alternating thing.
00 Jake: It is. So this is good Geno. And then guess what? Next week, our bi-week, bad Geno. So it works out perfectly. He'll be bad on the bi-week. So I see good Geno, good win, good jets. I think we can win this game. It's okay. It's it's gonna come down to the defense and like this they it's a few drop balls a few balls that we're gonna go into Justin: The touchdowns they need to be drops and we need to have you know, we had that against Cincinnati, too, right? They dropped a couple of long Jake: Balls that should have been caught and I want to see us do I don't care who it is out there You gotta take more shots. You got it. You just gotta take more shots. It gives him such a better And if you're throwing interception, fine, throw it halfway down the field. Don't throw it four feet away from you. So the running game gets going. We go back to the Wildcat. Good Geno shows up. Greek defense shows up. The Jets win 24-20. You have to believe. Don't believe you suck at life. And that is the 200th episode of the Jet Kingdom podcast. We will be back next week. Next week is the bye week, so we will be planning out our mid-season grades. Since we don't have any game to talk about, so we'll do mid-season grades, we'll talk about what happened this week. We'll be back. Thank you to everybody for hanging in there for 200. Thank you to you Justin. We'll make you cry a little bit. Thanks bud. Well we've been doing 200 podcasts together. That's pretty freaking impressive. Not a lot of people who, you know, again, it's not like we do one daily. This is weekly podcasts, so that's a lot to get through. And we'll see you next week. And as always, for I guess the 200th time. Go Jats! Thank you.
