11 Jake: are high. Get used to it. It's always gonna be that way. Justin: Welcome to Jet King podcast. As always, on this side of the downtrodden, you wanna jump off a bridge, digital aisle. Speak for yourself. Yeah, if you, I'd love for you to take, I'll stop for a second. He's Jake and joining me, who's Mr. Happy-Go-Lucky. I can't wait for him to take this and turn it around and make a positive out of this big pile of shit that is... really the the last couple games I didn't say the season or the game or the team you notice is Justin how you doing Justin I'm fine you're fine yeah fine fine you're fine at nine points in two games why don't you just talk over me for the whole podcast fine you find it nine nine points for two games on offense it is what it is it's a bad stretch all right I like to look at what's called the big picture and at nine and four in the AFC pretty decent. That's true. We have some tough games ahead of us. But I prefer to not look back and you know just one game at a time. Speaking of not looking back, let's look back at our agenda. Which is we're gonna talk about the two games quickly. the Patriots and the Dolphins game. Apologize first. We're gonna apologize. We are apologizing right now. Heard no podcast last week. Yeah, we were out in San Francisco for a conference. We were super busy. We just didn't have time to do the podcast. It actually literally had nothing to do with getting the ass kicked by New England. We were gonna do one. We just didn't have time. We're sorry. Yeah, we are sorry. I mean, it's whatever you guys would have heard us like bitch about the Jets anyway, so so we'll do that today We'll wrap up maybe a better perspective now because we got beat again by another rival and we also watch the pats beat the shit out Of a division leader in the NFC who we have to clean in Chicago. So, okay, let's go. We're gonna talk about that we We did our apologies talking about the Patriots games, we talked about the Finns games, or the Finn game, and do some injury news. Do our pick'em for this week, do our game by game picks, and then thrown picks, and we will then hope for the best this week. I usually feel better by Wednesday. But I'll tell you, two weeks in a row now, it's getting harder and harder for me to get that moment of like, okay, here you go, can't wait. So let's talk about the Patriots game first. We were in San Francisco, we watched it at a bar, surrounded by... There was a mix. There was a mixed bag.
00 Justin: There was a good mix. Let's just... It was crowded. Give me your big thought about the game, because everybody's seen the game and reviewed the game and whatever. My big thought is that the Patriots... are better than anyone else in the league. Like it's evident they are really the best team in the league. That's it. I mean they are so good. I love rubbing it in your face when you're wrong because you're wrong. You're never wrong. But I know. I want to go back and listen in like week four. How on earth do the pigeons trade Randy Moss. How are they gonna get better? They're gonna suck. They're not gonna be able to score. Oh my god. Did they get better? They got better. They got a lot better. I think I've said I'm wrong like ten times. I love hearing that Yeah, say it again. So common for you to say that I guess it doesn't it's not a big deal I just love when you're wrong. It's just great. Yeah, I like to rub it in. Okay No, it's true. I I did not think that they would be a better team without Moss and they've turned it around They basically just recreated their offense. But let's not talk about them. So give me your- That's what I'm taking from the game. They're that good. They're that good. They can run the ball. They can throw the ball. They have weapons everywhere all over the field. They got long, glorious hair on their quarterback. Beautiful, flowing hair. They play well at home, we don't. They can score at will. They can go on the road. They got really good. It makes very few mistakes. Best in the league. That's what I felt last week. Towards Friday or Saturday or Sunday when I was feeling like, okay, so what? They're really good. We're not that bad. We're just not great. They're great. We're just not great. We're just under great. We got our ass handed to us. The one thing I would take out of it and was my feeling kind of the next day and the day after was there's been a stretch of games, let's call it four or five games, that we have won through whatever. Great plays at the end. Last drive. Amazing catches. is a kid. over time. It's just it's been a string of them. Luck, streaking, power, momentum, all that. We had all that going into this game and apparently we left it on the bus. We left it in the New York City. We left it somewhere because we showed up that game and everything that could possibly go wrong. Not even from like a weather or whatever but it just hit us. BAM! Everything just caught up. All that stuff that we kind of avoided for many many weeks caught up to us. We were making shitty calls on making shitty calls We're making you know, the interception started up the running the Turnovers everything caught up there. There were a few I Know the score was it like 40 something to three at the end of the game Yeah, 45 3 or something 45 35 3 So what I'm gonna say is gonna sound a little stupid at the outset but you're gonna have to give me a minute to explain. It honestly could have been with a few
03 Justin: plays early on a close game. Now granted it got away from us and it really got away from us because once it once it started rolling the ball kept rolling. But in the very beginning of the game, the Jets were down, I think it was like 10-0, and it was 4th in more than 2 at the Patriots like 34-35 yard line. And instead of punting the ball and pinning the pads deep We decided to go for field goal and in those conditions should not have attempted like a 53 54 yard field goal And they did and he missed badly folk miss badly. I can't really blame him That's a really hard field goal in at night in a windy stadium. It's cold 53 54 yards is right at the edge of the limit Should have punted the ball there Instead you give the Pats the ball at midfield and they go right down the field and make it 17 nothing. Bad. At that point you're playing huge catch up. Bad. Should have given them a long field let the defense go on the on the field and make a stop somewhere. Secondly there was I think on that very drive to make it 17 nothing the Pats had like a fourth and two at our yeah I want to say it was our like 35-40 yard line and they went for it and they threw a quick slant to Dion Branch and he took it to the house touchdown. So there's like two plays right there at around the same time, kick the field goal miss, give them good field position, they go for it on fourth and two and not only do they make it but they turn it into a 35-40 yard touchdown, that's a lot of point swing right there. If we stop them, first off, we punt it, they're down at the 10, and I'm not saying the conditions would have been the same, but if it was fourth and two on their own 28, they're not going for it, they're punting us back the ball. Secondly, if we stop them on fourth and two, you we get the ball with decent field position and we're only down 10-0. So I know 45-3 seems like way down the road from that, but there's early plays in the game that turned it that could have been avoided if strategically have been played a little differently. But at the end, we really did get our butts kicked by New England. And what I was hoping for out of that game, so let's just move beyond that game. Not even going to fool that game because... I can remember, they were a lot. Look at the sideline, the guys in green. Yeah, those guys. So let's move. So at the end of that game I was thinking, okay, get your ass worked. One thing that's sort of been plaguing me and that was brought up on some show I heard somewhere was. The Jets are not doing well when they have time. You mentioned this once in some podcast or me and you said, I hope we don't get a bye because we don't play well when we have time to get ready for the game. Whether we overthink it, whether you know one of the things the theories is that
02 Justin: you know uh Rexie's letting them have you know too much party time or he's not keeping them focused enough. Whatever it looks like when we get time we start to suck. So if we get to the playoffs, and there are ifs at this point, still an if, I hope we go right into having to play hard because that keeps either Sanchez on target. There's no doubt about it. You're not getting a bye. But I'm now thinking it's more than that because now let's talk about the next game. So then we go up against the Dolphins. The Dolphins are really... They are really they got beat by Cleveland last week, but they're not reeling They were six and six team in the AFC which isn't that bad? They were five and six six and six They're now seven and six. Oh, okay. So they were six and six You said they weren't gonna get to what was your prediction for them eight and eight think so No, but we can beat, there's a team that we should be able to beat. And we did. We beat them once this year. I just looked behind me to find out if we lost the game. Division rivalries are, you know, any team could lose to any team inside of a division. Oakland beat San Diego and San Diego is on fire. the week prior. It's a division game. It was horrific conditions. We were there. It was windy as hell. It was raining the whole game. The Dolphins defense is stellar. They don't give up a whole lot of yards. They've given up less than 300 yards for like five or six straight weeks. They don't give up a lot of rushing yards, which is where we need to... What we need to do to win games is run, and we haven't been running very well. And it has shown that Sanchez really is still a second year quarterback. And I think it's unfair to all I've been reading on all these websites, you know, Yahoo Sports, ESPN. football insider yada yada yada is is Sanchez ready can he does he need to be benched absolutely not second-year quarterback I'm not even judging him until year four like he he didn't win last year the Jets won last year and it's unfair to place that on him you let me ask you a question ready I was just looking to see how many playoff wins does Mark Sanchez have in his career two. I'm gonna just Aaron Rodgers have zero zero Zero all I care about is winning I don't care if you could go out and throw the ball for 350 yards a game I don't give a shit if you can't win in the playoffs, then I don't care Sanchez proved He can go on the road win games with the team around him. Yeah, you just said two things that I think are a little bit juxtaposing there. One is, he won last year because the team won. He didn't win. And he said, I care that he can go on the road and win.
00 Justin: That's right. He can. Okay. So the team can win. The team can win with him at quarterback. Does that also mean Kellen Klemens can go on and win? I don't think so. Okay. All right. So you're saying, and I, listen, I agree with you. I'm down in the dumps because... I don't like losing on Sundays or Mondays. I don't like losing to huge, huge rivals of ours that we had a leg up. I guess the hardest part of this for me and all you other jet fans is don't take the happy juice that Justin apparently makes in his home. I look at a nine and four team and I say, look, we're nine and four and our closest people behind us in the wild card chase are two games behind us but three games to go. Your big picture is not taking the big picture that was on the wall. You've now put your new picture up, which is 9-4, and we're doing okay. What was on the wall was, we've destroyed everybody in our division. We have it clinched. If we win a couple more games, we get buys, we get home field advantage. We could have the best record in football. That was on the wall. You've taken that down and gone, 9-4 is okay. But if you've listened to this podcast, I've always contended that. I don't want that. I've actually said I didn't want to win the division. I don't want to win the division. I don't want to play home games in the playoffs, and I don't want to bye week. I'm dead serious. We're not as good at home as we are on the road, number one. Number two, the quarterback has shown that he's had issues throwing the ball at that stadium late in the season. And three, we don't win off bye weeks. We just don't. We didn't win the first game of the year. Thank you. off of essentially a bye months, we didn't lose off, we didn't win off our bye week. Green Bay, we played terribly. And we didn't play well against the Pats after a Monday game after a Thursday. So this is perfect scenario for you. You were hitting exactly what you wanted. And I want to go play in a dome or a warm weather somewhere. I'm serious, I'm dead serious. I think that that's the best scenario for us. Listen, I will be happy to sit here and for the next- here for the podcast 100 through 200 you tell me that I was wrong but I don't think that gives us a better chance to win. Here's what I want to happen. Okay. I want San Diego to win that division okay and I want to go there first week and play them in the playoffs. I don't want to go to the Pats because I know we can beat them too. I don't want to go to the Patriots. I don't want to go to the Patriots. Although they'll have a buy. The Pats will have a buy and whoever wins, the Steelers or the Ravens will have a buy. So I don't want to end up going to Kansas City. I'd rather San Diego win that division. And actually, to be honest, I wouldn't mind going to either Jacksonville or Indy. Whatever I'd love to go to Indy. I'd love a rematch I'd love to think we're getting ahead of ourselves, but I think that's what I don't want to have a home game We don't play well at home. I Know it's fun to go to the game and We don't I listen I could take the thousand dollars and go on the road trust me. That's not a problem It just doesn't happen though. We don't play well at home. I just this Miami game to a home Look at this Miami game the weather was an issue
01 Justin: We couldn't run the ball. Whether for an issue that it's rainy and cold, again we're not playing rainy and cold team, we're playing the happy go lucky fun in the sun team. They should have the same issue that we have. And they did! They absolutely did. But they could tell her. No, yeah right. They couldn't score. They scored because we gave them the ball at the 20 yard line. Twice! They scored a field goal and a touchdown. Both off of turnover. In the second half they have one first down. So tell me one thing. I have a question for you. One first down in the whole town. I have a question for you. Are you not concerned at all that we have scored 9 points in 2 games? Yeah, I'm concerned more about not the points but the fact that we haven't been able to run the ball. Well, 9 points means we have not been able to score a touchdown in 2 games. Yeah. And we're going up against teams that again, Chicago looks like a false tiger. And I agree. Steelers didn't score an offensive touchdown last week. But they're a tough defensive team. They played Cincinnati and they didn't score a touchdown on offense. Honestly, and Bills had them on the ropes. So whatever. I mean, look, teams go through ebbs and flows. And I'm worried that more about our rushing offense than anything, because that's what sets the whole thing up. If we can't run, then we can't pass. And we can't run right now. Yeah. So why can't we run? I don't know. I was looking yesterday in preparation for this podcast to see who is having a better season, LT or Thomas Jones. And you know who is? LT by far really still more yards and rushing a hell of a lot more receiving yards He is like 1100 1200 total yards Thomas Jones is around 800 They've the same amount of touchdowns, so it's not like you know. Oh, we lost Thomas Jones is killing us. It's not it's it I mean, maybe it's Fatica, maybe it's just teams are saying, we're not going to let you run, but that really doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me because we have weapons on the outside that should be able to do stuff. Sanjes is hitting the slump, and here's what I want to say. He's got his sophomore slump, it's here, thank you. can he turn it around because if he can't turn around this is i think he can because last year he went through i'm not talking next year i'm talking about i was saying last year last year he went through even where was the atlanta game was atlanta game or the buffalo game buffalo gave me through five pixie atlanta gave me through three the saints gave me through five he had miserable miserable games and he came through the kid has a head on his shoulders that is made for being able to get through a tough time I'm not worried about it. It's really a matter of you were just making me feel happy. I Don't think at nine and four you should be unhappy. It's it's I'm not happy at nine and four I'm unhappy what we just gave up with those two losses well that Is the thing I want well that type of most most I'm sorry most football fans Not Justin Justin King of the Jet Kingdom Most football fans, if you ask them,
00 Justin: what do you want going in the playoffs? I want home-built advantage and a buy. If you go to a Giants fan, you say, hey Giants fan, what would you want going into the playoffs? They'd probably go, I want home-built advantage and I want to buy going into the playoffs. It's because the Giants play well at home and they play well off the buy. The Jets approve that they can't. Here's the thing. I want the opposite of everything that everybody else wants. That's right. Unusual thing. Most people want winners and winning too. Do you want the opposite of that? Nine and four is winning. Here's what people do. Accuse Rex of doing, right? You are too up and down. Up and down. You ride. You who? Rex. Rex, you're too up and down. You're too emotional. I like to take the emotion out of it. I'm very even keel about it and just be very objective and look at the team and say, look, they're nine and four. They have a couple of issues here or there. They just got to get past them. The defense looked really good against the Dolphins last week. I mean, Henny threw for what, 40 yards? He had one, they have one touchdown. Henny's no good. Still, that's what you're supposed to do. You're supposed to do that. 55 yards he had. You're supposed to do that, right? You're will the- You're supposed to sack him five times. So Henny chased us 216 and couldn't- Well, he should've, which leads to my fool. Sorry, Santonio, you get my fool this week. Because when Sanchez does make a good throw, and it hits you right in the fucking face mask in the end zone, when you're 10 feet open, that's on you buddy. That's a touchdown. Touchdown. It's not 10-3 at that point, it's 10-7 and that game is very different. So that's on you, tone, hit you right in the helmet. As good as you've been this year, you get the fool for this week. Did you see it on replay? Do you want any honesty? Did you see that play on replay? You want honesty? No, I want you to lie. Okay. Did you see that play on replay? I watched everything four times over. Was that ridiculous that it hit him right in the helmet? Honestly, I'm that kind of fan that I get so upset by my team losing literally hits me such in the gut That I literally cannot watch the game again. It literally I can't watch the recap I didn't buy you didn't see the real I go I go into a hole because if I sit there and Baskin it it will fuck cuz I was below us in that corner Yeah, and you you I don't think you saw it clearly. You're like what happened? What? I said, I was also drinking a lot, you drank a lot. a a lot. a lot. a lot. I said it hit you, it hit him right in the helmet. Like, like, Edwards and him switched uniforms for a play or something. Like, it hit him right in the helmet. So, if you saw that play you'd think, oh, Sanchez did throw a touchdown. Holmes just let it hit off his helmet. And the game would be very different. So Holmes gets my fool. Yeah, I'm gonna go back and I'm gonna give a double fool a double fool which is to The head coach because I think a lot of these problems come down to it could give a shot timer He gets a lot of but I haven't decided in my mind that he's the problem yet like on the Dolphins Henning or whatever is the coordinator is he's the problem. He's the problem and and
03 Justin: they get away from who they are. I don't feel like our team is 100% away from who they are. I think they're not figuring out what's working early enough and sticking to it, so it ends up doing a lot of stuff that puts people in positions that they're not ready to do, AKA Sanchez, but I'm sorry, but these are two games that I feel like the coach is not getting their team ready for. The whole thing about, and I'm giving it to you for the three games, the three losses. Three losses? The three losses after buys. Because that says everything about the coach. It doesn't say anything about the weather, that doesn't say about the teams you play. It says something about the coach. When they say that Andy Reid never loses a game after the buy, they don't say that because he sucks. They say that because that's a really impressive stat to say that you keep your team on focus, on point for those games. Whatever you need to do. that you're extra-dissed or not extra- I don't know, I'm not a head coach. But he's not doing it. And so I'm giving my fool the sexy rexy for just not keeping his team on that level that he needs to keep him. While we're on fools and coaches, we may as well bring up Salah Sully. Are you just not reading news at all? trip the trip yes I like told me about it okay so obviously we were at the game we didn't even know it happened all we knew is there's a dolphin laying there okay got hurt whatever but that's a bush league move so we there that is really bush you you you have every right as a coach to stand there on the sidelines you have every right to stand in the place where you want to stand and if the gunner is running down the field and you happen to be in his way so it you're in his way that's fine you can even be coached to stand in certain places to set up a wall of sorts so that the gunner can't get around you or has to run around you in some way but what you cannot do is stick out your knee and trip a guy wait a second so what you're saying is that coach coaches can't trip players while they're playing in the field. It's extremely dangerous. And it's the kind of thing that you don't want to get the reputation for doing because now teams will do that kind of stuff to you and be dirty to you on the sideline. Are they going to find the hell out of it? What has happened is he's suspended for the rest of the season and he's been fined end. uh like i think find is it find 25 000 plus he doesn't get paid for the games that he's suspended for which essentially means he's lost like half of a year salary or something because he's just a strength and conditioning guy he doesn't get paid a whole ton of money um bad move you don't do that you don't i mean that that could really hurt somebody and i i don't I don't like the fact that, you know, I can't imagine he's the first guy to ever do it, but he's been caught.
03 Justin: Which is, which is, which is the, he's the first guy to ever do it and get caught. The only thing I've seen that's been close, and it was only because on a lot of recap plays, is that Cower, there's a play, I think it's in one of the Super Bowls he's in, where there's a guy coming down. He intercepts the ball and there's a guy coming down his way, so it's not his player, and it's looking like he's going to go all the way. And Kaller's running with him and you can see Kaller open up his hand like he's going to clip him and then he puts his hand down and doesn't do it. And you'd think that was as close as the guys have ever come to. This is literally guys standing there in the sideline. where a gunner on a punk team, he's not paying attention to the coaches, he's just running down the field as fast as he can and he gets clipped right in the leg by a guy sticking his knee out. Uneceptible. It is. It's stupid and again, it turns the team in. I think what the problem is is it makes it look like... We're this... We're cowboys. And this is sort of where I went with the podcast title, which was Gotta Knock Harder, which is that this is where all that stuff, all that pre-season hard knocks, big talk, and all that shit starts to come down. And when you start to see lapses in the team, people sort of focus in and go, see! You're on Hard Knocks and C-Rex is kind of too loose with his players and C, he doesn't keep his coaches in line. And C, this is a, so it's like, this is where the stuff sort of comes in and it's up to the team and to the coaches, and I wish it was up to us because we could do it, to say, alright, time to turn it around, let's play the next three games. let's win the next three games and let's make a shot of it. So there were some big injuries that occurred in the game. Damien Woody is getting his knee scoped. He's potentially out for the season. He said he's gonna try and get back, which means I don't think he'll go on IR, meaning if they make the playoffs, then he'll be able to. play but it looks it looks as if he's he's gonna be out for at least a game or two and then Eric Smith had a concussion during the game which leaves us with literally no safeties because we ahead of bow is also injured hopefully he'll be back for next game but he's not exactly the safety that you one out there in coverage situations. So you had, you know, Rodney Poole and Eric Smith playing safety with a guy that they pulled off the scrap heap, named, I think his name's Hood, that they just pulled in there to play safety. So, I mean. and maybe Kyle Lowry will have to step in and play some safety. Dwight Lowry. Dwight Lowry, Kyle Lowry. Kyle Wilson. Kyle Wilson. One of those guys is going to have to come in and play safety. I just thought we picked up a new player. We just grabbed a new player out of nowhere. Kyle Lowry. But no safety is a big issue. Particularly against the Steelers who have a balanced offense.
00 Justin: Maybe it's not that great, but it's balanced. And I will say that's why as a fan I understand why you don't want to have a game off because you wouldn't want anybody to get better or Or to you know or heal up right now because you wouldn't want to have that you want to go straight in have to play someone On the road fly halfway across the country because that would probably make everybody feel good not when you lose after every single buy Well, that's a coaching thing get figure that out Stop doing that. Or you just aren't good at it. Anyway, let's move along. Let's move along. Let's do the jacking to pick them. Alright, let's do the pick them. Who's winning the pick them? Oh I've gotta be kicking your ass at this point. Well I know you, but who's winning overall? I have to imagine Mike is still winning, right? Mike is still winning by, he's got 117 to 85. Law dog, my brother in law. who I have a bet with on this, so I'm suffering slings and arrows here, is $1,993. So I feel like, well this goes through the playoffs, so I still have a shot. It goes through the playoffs? Yeah, through the playoffs. No kidding. Playoffs, baby. Well, I mean, you have to point out the fact that I'm in third. You are in third. With $160. wins and you're now five behind me. Yes five points. With a hundred and one. Still doable in the weeks. And we also should point out that I won the week this past week. Your first week. With 10. Your whole theory of you just, you just, so now what I expect from you, because what you do, since you said I don't go high or I don't go low, I just good said. So now guess what you just did? High. what's coming baby again obi again you've had weeks where you pick four you've had a couple fives I haven't been below six well haven't even been below six you want to get a four you get you do a four you're doing nope still beating you but I'm never lose pants off my wife will never lose to you because I am far superior to you Should we talk about the pool that we don't talk about this one on? That we're actually whooping you on? Oh no. No, I don't want to talk about that one because that one would prove that you're actually losing. That's not the jack-cute mistake. Under 50% in that one. That's not the jack-king to pick him. Haha. Alright, let's go for a quick pick. So for those that don't know, every week we go through all the games. We pick them against the spread. We save the AFC East Games for afterwards for the thrown picks where we actually... actually pick the scores and a little bit more in-depth analysis and it's always fun to see if I screw up and mention the AFC East Games during the thrown picks or during the Jet Kingdom pick-em. Away we go. So Ron, we're recording this on Wednesday so the Wednesday is on the number. We have Tuesday spreads. uh Wednesday spreads are generally the finals, but we're going against Tuesday I think there's a few off games because of injuries. I will pull up another spreads just to see if there are some spreads Yeah, yes the games that are off have good explanations, so they might still be off all over the place All right, let's start it up every game is on any other ones all right, so you'll bring it up, San Diego Hosting San Francisco two teams out west fighting for their playoff live San Diego needs a win to get ahead in their division. San Francisco comes off of it. They thrashed Seattle.
08 Justin: They're like, what are they like five and eight or something and they're right in the hunt for the for the West NFC West division there. But it's thrashing Seattle. They scored 40 points. JV team. Anyway San Diego's home. They're given eight and a half. I will take the Chargers. I will take the charge as well. I think they're gonna thrash San Francisco. They're gonna play very inconsistent this year. Oh yeah. So they're due a low score. All right next game uh kind of meaningless. Cincinnati hosting Cleveland. Favorite time of year. So many meaningless games. This is a crappy game. Hopefully it'll all be on Thursday nights. Well that's San Diego games on Thursday. Cincinnati hosts Cleveland. Cincinnati is actually favored by two. They are really bad. Can't see them winning. I'll take the points in Cleveland. Yeah, I think Cleveland as well. Again, another team that's sort of been able to beat really good teams like the Patriots. They play to their level much like a man genie team. They play up and they play down. We saw that happen. Well, then that would mean that they would lose this game except I think they have a little bit more weapons. Oh, Hillis is gonna just run right over since 3 in our 55 yards. I don't know about that, but we'll see NFC East rival game Again sort of meaningless Dallas hosting Washington Dallas giving six some news about McNabb in Washington Might he play might he not? Dallas played a back up in Washington Rex Grossman. Ha ha ha. I remember Rex. Yeah, Dallas played a close game this past week against Philly, but did end up losing in the end. They're playing a little better these days, and they did that without Des Bryant. Not sure if he's going to play this week or not. Either way, I'm going to take... Dallas giving six. I wish I had more things to fight you on here yet, but I will say I do think Dallas at home I'll give this a helmet Washington's gonna do very well. I think they're gonna fold it up. They're done Okay for next year they're already they're in Interview mode yeah moving right along to another somewhat meaningless game Tennessee hosts Houston. Houston again pulls the Texans trick where they're down big and at the end of the game they come back and tie or take the lead and then they lose in dramatic fashion at the end. They do this every single time. But wasn't this the knockdown game from before? This was the Hail Mary game. No, this was not the Hail Mary game. No, this was the last time Texan Tennessee met Houston. Wasn't that Town Hall? No, Jacksonville. That was Jacksonville. But this was the game where Andre Johnson and Cortland Finnegan got into the Royal Rumble. So that could be interesting. So watch this game for the first fight. With that said, I'm going to take Tennessee at home. giving one and a half I just can't trust Houston to win any games. I'm gonna pick
02 Justin: Houston on this one. Good for you. Big game, big big game coming up next. Indy hosts Jacksonville and this is a big game in that division. So give us the what we want to happen because we're in the playoffs. You know I'm not sure it matters what we want to happen here. Either team making the playoffs. I mean I've said in the past they don't really want Indy in the playoffs because it'd be cool for them to just miss the playoffs outright, I'm not sure who's a better matchup for us at this point Jacksonville or Indy I think I'd prefer to play Jacksonville because I mean I Indy just scares me a bit but because of Manning but I don't know just let me say I've so much rather play Indy in a dome a team that we know and play more meaning with there were much more familiar with them and I think our passion... How do you figure that? We've just played them last year. We played Jacksonville last year. I'm telling you I feel like we know Indy better than... Because they were in our division 10 years ago? Yeah we've kept those tapes. Oh my god. We kept the Ted Marchabrota years. Wow, where'd you just pull that from? I'm a longtime fan and I can remember when they were in our division Really played them twice a year. Let's go. All right Anyway, and these favored by five at home against Jacksonville. I'm taking the points. I'll take Jackson. I'll take you as well All right moving right along st. Louis this game's off So if you have a spread, let me know st. Louis this home hosting Kansas City. It's off because a castle with his appendix Or whatever it is. St. Louis is favored by three You know in another spread, but you know on this If this is a game that'll probably change on Sunday because I'll know if castles playing or not But right now with it off and castle not playing I'm gonna take the home team. I'll take st. Louis Well, they get destroyed last week without castle. Oh god. They're no terrible. No castle. No good They had like 60 total yards That's terrible. But at St. Louis with Cassel, you still think they're going to come back and you're going to be better than that? Yeah. Cassel makes a huge difference for that team. St. Louis you don't think has enough to beat KC on the road? KC's a pretty good team. Not very good on the road. They're pretty good though. Anyway, moving right along, a huge game in the NFC East has a lot of implications for the playoffs and the division. How's your prediction for the Giants? Not good. What was it? In 8, they've already got 9. The Giants are favored by 2.5 over Philly and I like the Giants. Wow. And just for that I will go against you because I think Philly's a good team, the Michael Vick factor. I think Giants have got the same thing that we have. I don't know if it's a new stadium. They've lost some big games at home. I think that was this one or no? I think the Giants figured the Eagles out in the last game and they just didn't win the game. I think they're going to win it this time. Okay. Fair enough.
00 Justin: That's, you know, they do have some injuries. Bradshaw hurt his wrist. Smith didn't play much in the lie. He injured a hamstring. But you know, Nix is back, the line's getting healthy, I like the Giants. Alrighty. Alright, moving on. I know people who will be at that game. So do I. Tampa is hosting the Lions. Tampa's giving six. Tampa's right in the playoff thick of things in the NFC. I'm gonna pick Tampa even though I think the line is a little hard with six, but I think they might pull it out. I'll take Tampa. I'll pick Detroit just because I need to make up some points on you. Well, that's unfair. You should pick first. In the last week when you're behind, you're picking first. No problem. Carolina, moving right along, hosting Arizona in probably the worst game of the week. If this game's on television, it shouldn't be. Uh, have you ever seen those maps? There's that site that does the map of all the places that have the television stations, what zone they're in. I've never seen that map. Oh, it's great. It shows you like Fox and CBS. And it's usually covered in one color because that's like the national game. So I can imagine this will be like off purple. A little blip. And it'll be literally like right over Tampa. It might not even be around in Carolina. I mean they might not even sell it out. It might just be on in Arizona. Just that little flagstaff. Yeah, a little... little fox blip there. Carolina is giving two and a half at home. They're just so bad. Arizona's not very good either but I'll take the points. I'll take Arizona. Yeah, I'll take Arizona. Carolina's really bad. Baltimore hosting New Orleans. A very good matchup at one o'clock on Sunday. Baltimore just came out with a a win over Houston where, you know, Houston pulled their thing. They were up 28-7 and they tied it up 28-28 and then Baltimore won an overtime on Monday night. I will pick the Saints. They're looking better and better. They're getting healthier and healthier. Bushes back. You know, their running game is back to, you know, with Pierre Thomas also being back in the backfield. video. They are they're back and I will take the points and New Orleans getting two and a half I'll take Baltimore at home. I think they'll build Norlin's has played better, but there's still not the team they were last yeariosity I think I've bought more handle them. I think they're getting there though Atlanta goes to Seattle and gives six Atlanta the best team in the NFC I don't know why Seattle keeps getting the home love with the spread. That spread seems a little low. I'll take the Falcons. The Falcons don't play as well on the road. Obviously, they're undefeated at home and they're like 11 and 2, so they've lost a couple on the road. And Seattle historically has played very well at home, but they're very banged up. Atlanta's got to win this game by more than 6. I will say that there I haven't looked but I bet you you looked on the weather for Sunday in Seattle
00 Justin: It's probably miserable probably not very good because that six just seems to me to be a weather related thing But I'll take a I'll take a land. Alrighty moving on To the west Oakland hosts Denver and Oakland's giving six and a half Denver's pretty awful Oakland's you know average Team that that can beat a bad team like Denver. I think they're gonna win by more than six and a half So give me Oakland Give you Oakland. Give me Oakland to alright and moving on to the Monday night game since we're skipping the AFC East late games here Minnesota hosts Chicago, Minnesota is hosting at Minnesota universities stadium so it's gonna be outdoors. Did you see the video of that? It's unbelievable. I am so glad nobody was in it when that collapsed. They clearly knew it was happening because they were nice and videotaping the whole thing. People would have not been alive. It was really, it was pretty cool. I didn't, to be honest, I didn't think that kind of thing could happen. I thought they would build, I mean it's not like, it's not like Minnesota is in Tampa Bay or Arizona and this is the first snow they've got. Okay fine I get it you didn't build. for snow. If it hit 20 feet of snow in Arizona, yes, I'm sure that all the stadiums would break. But this is a place that snows, I don't know, a lot? Would you say a lot? They don't say it's gonna snow. They say it's gonna snow one or two. That's not inches. That's feet. So I'm just surprised at the thing. You know, I have a pyramid still standing. I have a theory. It's conspiracy theory. You know, they've been trying to build a new stadium there forever. Yes They've been trying to get money so they've been like poking holes in the ceiling Ziggy wolves up there On a ladder little cutting holes or doing whatever to the support beams It was it was actually farce people trying to give him some more time I'm sure there's heaters that are in there that actually heat it and they just turn them on. I'm very proud of us for not even talking about F.A.R.F. You just did. I just did. But his streak's over. Anyway, Peyton Manning's gonna break that streak. $2.97, done. Minnesota's home, not really, outdoor game in Minnesota in the middle of December. Wow, it's gonna be cold. And... I'm not sure Tavares Jackson is going to be playing. Isn't that amazing though? Favre starts 297 straight games. Tavares Jackson is the next guy to start after him for the team, and he lasts half of a game. Like, how crazy is that? That's insane. That is insane. This game's off, though, on our line. So what do you have? Well, I have. It's Minnesota's favorite by a point and a half. I don't know who their quarterback's going to be, and I don't really care. I'm picking Chicago. I'll go. This is a tough game. I literally, I just, I don't know who these two teams are. It's like Chicago's a team that, oh we're great, we're beating up on them, we just get destroyed by other teams. Well the Pats are destroying people right now. So you'd be, you're picking against, you're picking at whoever the Pats are playing.
04 Justin: I literally could, I could flip-flop on this one, it's one and a half points, it's close enough not to mean anything. I'll go with Minnesota. to hopefully make up something on you. Well, we never know what the spread might be. So we'll probably end up revising these towards the end of the week. Anyway, let's move right along to the AFC East and our throne picks. The first game is a indivision game. It is Buffalo at Miami. Buffalo has been playing. a lot better as of late. Again, the best worst team in the league. They've been doing something that they weren't doing in the beginning of the season. They're actually winning games. And they're playing people close even without some of their key weapons like Lee Evans is out, he's on the IR. So they have receivers that have never even heard of playing really well. Fitzpatrick's playing pretty good. I think Buffalo is going to win this game. Miami does and play as good as... home they only have one home win this whole season with an odd score 12-9 no touchdowns nice four field goals to three field goals I actually think Buffalo's gonna win this game as well it's not because I'm mad I don't think it's gonna be a lot of scoring I'm probably at 13-10 Buffalo I think's a team this kind of so I have a 12-9 you have a 13-10 yeah we'll see who's right My damn, this guy was so close. You know, Miami, I don't believe in their offense. Their defense is good, but I think Buffalo will be able to score. Yeah, Miami's defense can play. Their offense, not so good. All right, moving on to the Sunday night game. Good Sunday, very good sorta. Green Bay, hopefully with Aaron Rodgers, because otherwise it's not even a game. I picked this. assuming no Rogers. You're picking this no Rogers. I'm picking this assuming no Rogers. Rogerless. Rogerless. Without Rogers. Without him. Anti-Rogers. No Rogers. No Rogers. None. So Green Bay goes to the red hot New England Patriots who literally don't lose at home. I don't think they've ever lost at home. They don't, they haven't lost at home with Brady quarterbacking. in a regular season for like four or five years. Four hundred million years. Forever. Dawn of the ages. Anyway, no Rogers, no good, 35-6. No Rogers. All right, I'll pick it including no Rogers, no good. I see, I think they'll score a point, so it'll be seven. Patriots will score 30. That's more than a point. That's like seven. One touchdown. Oh, I don't have that. I have two field goals. I'm saying that they'll get a touchdown. You know what, my 6? It might be a touchdown at the end of the game where they just go for 2 and don't get it. Alright, 7-30 Patriots win because I cannot lose at home. Again, similar scores, 35-6. Anything is hoping that I jinx them, please. And onto the game of the century, the game of the millennium. Fuck. The New York Jets go to Pittsburgh, again playing at 4-15.
04 Justin: They're getting creamed with these late games in the east, in the northeast with the cold weather and the wind and the rain and it's going to rain again this Sunday they say in Pittsburgh. Not good. I don't understand the schedule makers. Why can't we play at one o'clock? Why aren't the giants and the eagles on it for? this week. I don't know. We have not had a lot of 1 o'clock games. I think we've had one. We're like, we're playing night games every week. Yeah. It's cold. It's rainy. It's fine. This was a little winning. We've won some crazy night games and some whatever. This game is, you know, is weather going to be a factor? I don't know. I think it will affect us both. Weather's always a factor. No, but I think it affects both teams equally. Not sure. I think in this game it affects me. Raffles Burger is more of a seasoned quarterback who's played through these conditions, knows his, you know, grew up in Ohio, knows this stadium in and out. You know, Sanchez has only been in the league two years, played high school ball in Southern California, college ball in Southern California. Not really a northeast guy Then we should send him to Alaska for the summer. He should practice in a freezer They should they should put the balls in a bucket of water and send him out into the cold in shorts Give me like go give me your so I know you and you know me together and we're not gonna pick the jest of the list brothers Oh God my mother would ask him Oh brothers maybe we're asking my brothers I don't know so we're not gonna pick the jest of those we don't pick the jest we never do that's not it's not what we're about so tell me how the Jets are gonna win this game all right well first off they're let's start off by saying Pittsburgh is right favored by six I'll start off my score 17-13 Jets win. They pulled out late. Mine's 17-16. So again, here's the thing. The Steelers played Cincy last week and did not score an offensive touchdown. Cincy's no good. No, they're terrible. They did score two touchdowns on defense though. that's the key no interceptions no turnovers win the turnover battle and you can win this game and that's that that's the key I think that that's a key for every game so I could say that for every game pretty much but in reality we won the turnover battle with with Miami but what we did was we turned the ball over on our own 25 and we should we should we establish the run yes we should make the big plays yes should we play good on special teams yes should we get good field position all of these things are true all right here's what we hear a couple things i want to hear something a couple things so give me some insight if we're posed with the question of kicking a 49 yard field goal or punting. at any point during the game except for in the fourth quarter on the last drive when
03 Justin: when you know those three points can win the game with no time left or there's like a minute and a half left and there's And whatever right if it's in the second quarter and we're on Pittsburgh's 30 yard line and We're down by three punt the ball I'll say that Punt it. Pin them down inside their 10 and play some defense and get the ball back. Do not attempt a field goal of longer than 47 yards. Would you even say if you're down the 30? You're saying punt at the 30. Yeah, the 30. Go for it. That's my... if it's fourth and four and under, go for it. Throw the ball down to the three. They're an interception, so what? Welcome at the three do the I was yelling for dirt at the Dolphins game on fourth and 14 or whatever it was at the end of the game the last play when when Sanchez got sacked I'm yelling chuck it down the field and pray for interference. It's the best play you could possibly do So I think this is a game. I'm not gonna give one of the Cliche ones. I think this is a game of composure The Pittsburgh Steelers are a good team They play inconsistent, but I think all good teams play inconsistent and win. We have to keep our composure in this game. I felt like we lost our composure in the last two games that we played. Kind of losing who we are and just playing like a team that needs to be desperate. Clearly we got to desperation in the Patriots game and the Dolphins game just sucked. so then we got to desperation by sucking. This is a game about keeping your composure on offense and on defense. And I want everybody to go over and give Mark Sanchez a hand jibber before the game and just say, dude, it's cool. Keep your composure. If we're down, we're down. We'll make it back. Think back, pull all the good games we've had, been able to come back and say we will be able to come back We will play good D. We'll keep this close. Let's not give it away for anything Yes, throwing it away in this game throwing away is 10 times more important than anything else They've got ball hawks on the side that will want to take the ball away They will know how to know his tendencies. Keep your composure, check it down. I agree with you. Pun, pun, pun. We'll get a break. Keep your composure until you get the break. That's my thing for this game. I'm excited, I know this is gonna be crazy to say, I'm excited to watch. at home. I'm excited that I'm not gonna be with you to watch this. Because you did two games with me. Oh my god. And I've lost my cool at both games. Oh it was not a good, not a pretty scene. Yeah no not good. Actually it was ugly. Yeah yeah first one, second one I just kind of went into a funk. You drank some beers. Drunken funk. Couple beers will do that. That's the problem when when someone else is a designated driver to drive home
00 Justin: There's no there's nothing to stop me from going. What's the lineup seven beers right here? No, they were literally punching me Go get me a beer and then if I didn't get up and go get sure you were actually punching me Oh, I've done that before you put the ticket in my face and said See price of ticket go get me two beers. It was it was awesome. Yeah Bring anything to the tailgate. I never forget. He didn't contribute anything I don't do the offer to pay for you know what I do so I say buy me a frickin You know what I do. I bring this gorgeous face right here. I should have been punching that So I'm just saying I'm very excited to watch this at home. I was very close to punching you in the face. You should have. Because then it was good fun. I'm very excited to watch this at home because while I want the Jets to win, I do not have a feeling. I had a feeling going into Sunday's game, we're just going to beat up on the Dolphins. And then when you get down to that point and you get beat, it's horrible. I have a feeling this is going to be close. So I, taking my own advice, case. I'm gonna use my composure at home and I'm gonna keep it cool throughout the game. So that's it. So you want to follow the Jet Kingdom podcast.
