11 Justin: are high. Get used to it. It's always going to be that way. Jake: Welcome to the JK-TV. the podcast the longest-running New York Jets podcast period. I'm Jake joining me for the 147th time. Good buddy Justin! What's up? That's a long time. That's a lot of time. 147? 147 episodes of 147 episodes of quality content. That's good shit. Oh, the swearing already starts. Alright, we have an agenda. Mostly around the 2012 schedule was released on Tuesday. It is now Friday. We've had a time to digest it. We've had a time to pick which games we're going to. So we will go and talk about the schedule, maybe jump to some other teams as well. There's a lot of hubbub. Well, we'll get to that. The schedule, like, do you believe there's like, there was like a three- Why don't we wait until we get there? There was like a three hour show. I watched it. Why don't we wait until we get there? We'll talk about that at that point. Stop. Alright. Justin: Uh... I don't mean to go through the agenda. It's the same every year. Every day. No, it's not. Jake: No, cuz sometimes we have games recovering. Alright. Alright, we're gonna talk about the Revus holdout or not. 2000 Tell schedule. Maybe some workouts and we'll take Facebook questions at the end. We got some Facebook questions, a couple of schedule questions, so we'll handle those at the end. So let's kick it off with... You forgot Fake Rex Ryan's favorite segment. Well, I don't know. Wait, it's an official segment now? Yeah. I don't know if it's official segment. Well, he's gonna get one this week. It's an off schedule. All right, we'll talk about it. It's our... F you there you go still zero F you to the was F you to know the media guy of something like that commentator all right fuck him we'll talk about that first we'll start off with the sort of new news has came out yesterday saving Friday yesterday being Thursday that there's some talk that the that Revis, the person who we had a holdout two years ago and he signed a four year contract, might hold out again. Not gonna happen. Don't think it's gonna happen. Not gonna happen. Okay, well, it's a possibility. Thought stop. Not happening. Not happening. Justin: Not even worth discussing. Stupid news. No, who said it? Who said that this was gonna happen? Unnamed sources. So some guy in the media asked Tana about if this was gonna happen? Yeah. And now it's a story because somebody asked. Jake: Yeah. Justin: No. Jake: But it puts, well, because I think these are the, this is a, Rebus had a year left in his contract last time and held out.
02 Justin: But he was underpaid. Okay, he's now properly paid. He made the most money of any cornerback over the last two seasons in the NFL Well deserved then shut up and play like no, I don't even know why I'm upset at him He hasn't said anything about all right, so we'll skip it. This is stupid stupid. Just someone made this up They said you know what? Hey, hey Jake, are you gonna quit the Jet Kingdom podcast? Sounds like, sounds like they're breaking up. Sounds like there's no contract extension for, on the docket for Jake, even though he's under contract for the rest of his life. You don't think there's a contract here, do you? There is, the rest of your life. The rest of your life, yeah. We'll see. Um, alright cool. The old ball and chain. Jake: We'll move away. We will move away from that. We'll slowly back away from that. So, uh, let's do the other two and then we'll get to the schedule at the end. So let's, let's whip it up. Let's do, so workouts have started. Off-season workouts, the workout program have started. Sweet. It's under this new CBA thing where I don't get it. It's like you should show up but don't work but can't do playbook but can't get coached but you can work out but it's like... Justin: I thought they could get their playbooks. They just can't... They can't be coached. Right. But Rex was there, he did a little speechy speech. Hey guys, I want you to go- no that's coaching. No, no, no. He could do like a speech. And then they broke out into their offensive and defensive coordinator rooms or whatever. They did their own little thing. So Sperano met the offense. Okay, but then they had to no no coaching and then They basically left and went to prepare for the draft while the players So this was the funniest part they're allowed to work out with the strength and conditioning coach. Hold on the quarterbacks wait I work out. Okay, the quarterbacks are allowed to throw with receivers Okay on the sideline, but defenders can't be near them Like this is somebody wrote this in rules. Yeah this is the new fucking CBA. There's one. This is so dumb like Sanchez you can throw to homes as long as Revas isn't standing near him. Wait can we stand next to Sanchez? Can we be like next to anybody? No no no no he might knock it down. No he's like just next to him. It's like they have like a red line in the middle of the field like offense on one side, defense on the other. Yeah, this this CBA as much as I'm glad it got done Jake: There have been some things that I've that now these new rules that make no sense So you're up point knows the point either if you're on the field and dressed up You should be able to do whatever you need to do. Absolutely like this whole like oh you can do this You can do three push-ups, but not six. No All right six. So we're getting started not really on news out of it though. I guess it's all closed because we haven't heard anything. They're all still working on the draft. Draft's a week away, so. All right, well then moving on to our segment. I guess it's a segment now. It's a segment. If we say it's a segment. I just said it. All right, it's a segment which is our FU to a commentator,
03 Jake: the FU to a commentator. To a fellow media member. Oh, what was that? I guess, you know what, I'm gonna leave this to you as you're a second. Since I'm a fellow media member. Because you're a broadcaster. I'm a broadcaster. I'm just a fan. Justin: You're just a rational fan. She's a totally rational fan. Mine's going to a guy who deserves a fuck you every day of the week. Skip Bayless on ESPN. Talking about how T-Bo's gonna be starting. at the very beginning of the season. No, I don't like it. That's not what he predicted. Yes, he did. No, he didn't. He said week three of the preseason. Oh, he did? I told him. So, or did he say? Jake: No, he said we'd go four, we'd go four, one and four. One and four. One and four. Justin: And he actually went through the schedule and he said here's when Tebow starts. And then he wins. That's a good, that's a good segue into the schedule. I think the NFL fucked us. They did this. Thanks. The NFL made our beginning of this season extremely difficult. If you look at our first like three or four weeks, yeah, you have a better view of this. Jake: So I'm gonna look on your screen. You have a better spot. That way you can talk into the mic so people can hear you. Fuck off. Justin: Fuck you, Jake. It's my 40 episodes. This is the mic. Fuck you. This is where you talk. But if you look at the first five weeks, yes, we play three, if not four, incredible defenses. We play the Steelers, the Niners, and the Texans. Those are top five defenses, and you could throw the Finns in there as a pretty good defense. They were a good defense, right? So that's like, And then you play a team. That's like TaylorMade. For Sanchez to have a shit start because who did well against the Niners nobody who did well against the Texans nobody who does well Again in Pittsburgh nobody So it's like this kids gonna have a real rough start to the season no matter what it's guaranteed If he plays great through five weeks, then you know, you're in great shape because that's a tough kick-ass first five weeks. So the NFL was like, let's see how we can get Tebow starting and let's see how we can do it as soon as we possibly can. Let's have the Jets play the Steelers in Pittsburgh and play the Niners and the Texans in the first five weeks and see if we can't get Tebow in there by then. So we're not Jake: gonna do, we do an episode of the beginning of the season that's like September right before the season starts, we do a predictions episode where we predict every game with, not with scores, every game throughout the season, playoffs, we actually go all the way to Super Bowl. To get to our final record. Right, to get to the final record and then we say the final record and then we predict you, then we predict playoffs, Super Bowl, do the whole thing. Yeah. We're not doing that today. Not today. Because that's in a full episode. But we can look at this schedule. We don't know Justin: enough about our own team, let alone any of the other teams yet. Because the draft hasn't even happened. Right. Jake: So, so true. But we have a schedule. This is, first of all, two things. One, this is the beginning of my year. I've said this a million times on the podcast. This is my year starts whenever the schedule comes out.
03 Jake: So I ran home. I was actually out to dinner. I ran home seven o'clock, booted it up, and started just... combing over the schedule because it sets what the rest of my year is it sets when in August I'm gonna go to games it sets What I'm getting games all season long what vacations I'm taking am I going down to Miami am I going to? Am I gonna go to the Titans game like it it has all these things So it basically sets my entire schedule for the rest of the year, and I love it. It's absolutely great What's your gut reaction of looking at the schedule other than we think we got fucked because of tough defenses? I'm excited for the last five or six weeks. Justin: Oh, well overall. The end of the schedule. Well I think it sets up well for us to do what I wanted, like what I said earlier. Jake: Start poorly and finish strong. Justin: Start average finish on fire. I think it sets up that way. Like it really does. It sets up. to have a good last month of the season. Jake: But you've also said privately to me that you can, you actually think that TiVo will be named the starter at some point during the season. And that's, you've said that. Justin: I think it's set up to the point where they're not gonna, they're not gonna be 10 and two. It's not gonna happen. And the problem is that I'm not sure how much patience they're gonna have if they're five and five. 5. Jake: Five and five and six five and five and six is that I say five and five you got patience But um, alright, so let's talk about we start off week one home opener one o'clock against the bills Justin: Yeah, I think this is you want to go through every game. Yeah, just quick You know what? I'd rather do could you something different? Okay, we go through Since I don't really want to talk about specific jet games Could you just go through the whole schedule and say what our favorite game of the week is? No. Why not? No, I don't want to do that. It's a lot of fun. Alright, pick a couple games out of the schedule that you're excited about. For the jet schedule? Jet schedule, that's what we'll do. Okay, well I'm always excited about the division games, so they're six. Jake: No, no, no. Pick a couple of games that you're excited about. What stands out of you on the schedule? Justin: The Niners. I really want to see how we stack up against the 49ers. I'm glad it's a home game at one o'clock. that I think favors us a little bit. The Niners did really well on the road at one o'clock last year on the east coast, but that played totally against the laws of physics. Um, so I'm looking forward to that game. So, so a couple of things to start up. First of all, we're bookended by Bills. Jake: That's good. Strange to start and end with the same team, hence the Bills. Typically the Bills are not the greatest opponent, meaning we usually split with them, but they can be surprising. Justin: So I feel like that's a strange move by the makers. But what's been good, and we've been lucky, I think, since they started this whole, the last week of the season is going to be against a division rival. Right. We've not played the Pats week 17. That's true. We've yet to have that happen to us.
00 Justin: And I think it's been three years, so it should have rotated into that by now. I almost, but the way the Pats always get to the playoffs, and they usually are... Jake: I don't sit, they play. Oh, okay. Well, I wouldn't mind that at all, but whatever. So we're bookends, that's one thing. So four night games, Right? And how many at home? Two... Three. Three of the four night games at home. That's cool. So that's cool. You know, I'm a big fan of night games. I love watching this to me It's like I get my cake in my candy. We're gonna be at all you're gonna be at all four night games Justin: Well, we are gonna be at all you don't know if you're gonna I don't know where I'm going But but we're going to the Titans game. Yes So Jack Kingdom will be in Tennessee for that we're going down to the Titans game in Tennessee So so yes, I will have gone to at least all four Jake: Night games is great again I love night games because I love and Monday nights the best because I get to watch everything on Sunday and then go to my game Monday Justin: I'm excited to go to st. Louis and Jake: Beat up on shoddy. Okay, that stands out and I think the other big news of this one is is Tonight it's it's the it's Thanksgiving. That's a big that's a huge standout We are playing the Patriots on the the game of the probably the game of the week Justin: Thursday night. Alright, so let me make my my Quarterback starting prediction right now. Oh really? That's the hinge. That's the game That's the one it's a home game. Okay on Thanksgiving night national television where Sanchez will still be our starter That game will hinge whether he will or will not moving beyond It's pretty late in the season it is But most people are saying it's gonna happen in the first five games Yeah, but that's the game if you look after that you should win five in a row after that Cardinals Jags Titans Chargers Bills should win all those games win them out win them out. All right Jake: No matter who's starting the other thing that struck me is the home opponents other than the Dolphins Patriots Bills kind of just Yeah, like I don't think we got help. I know I'm saying I but not not in that not in a no, no No, I think in a in a like like like I look if I'm another fan not the Jets fan I'm gonna say I'm putting on my Giants fan I go oh if I want to go to a Jets game this year What game would I look at and go at like it's kind of a bunch of eh Justin: But I think we got helped like if you look at you want to play Like sure, we have to go to Pittsburgh, so that's a tough one on the road. But you don't want to... you want to play the Niners at home, you want to play the Texans at home. So like, we definitely got helped out there, and you want to play the Chargers at home too. Like, I know it's not a big... like San Diego is like not a huge thing to go to their stadium, but you'd rather play them at home on the east coast than to go out west. Right. you know we have to go to Seattle so I'd say we're we we did better on some we did better with the home games like those those are tough games the Niners and the Texans on the road you're not gonna win those games most of the time Jake: right I said the only thing that strikes me is a little bit of the double road double double out of you know sort of away Seattle Rams back to
03 Jake: back away tough, steelwars, dolphins, and of course those are both east coast and steelwars is a drive. Well, it's probably fly down there. But so that's kind of tough, like doing those double roads where it's, you know, not close roads, it's far roads. You know, we seem to be in these patches. Like if you look at your schedule where we're home, away, away, home, home, home, away, home, away, away, home, home. away away like it's there's like these three patches of away games that I think could be the defining moment of our season that Steelers Dolphins patch huge Seahawks Rams That do we win those and it's just like no problem and then the Jaguars Titans That's me ending up and those are AFC those are gonna be big coming in In fact our last four opponents are all FC good beat them, which is huge for playoffs, right beat them And only one of them being at AFCE. So if we have done well in the AFCE before that last game could be something else so What else what else instruct you? Okay, we talked about the rest of the season now I'm looking at the rest of the schedule. I think give me some stuff. I don't know Justin: You've looked at the whole thing. There's nothing you don't know. I would say I've not looked at them Jake: the big big schedule other than ours very much. Justin: Well, there's some really they did a good job of week one. I think week one has some great prime time games. You got the season opener on a Wednesday. Usually it's on a Thursday, but the Democratic National Convention is on that Thursday. So it's a Wednesday. You got Dallas in New York. Always fun. Always a good matchup might be there. That's always fun. And then the Sunday night is a great one. Pittsburgh at Denver rematch. but this time it's Manning not Tebow. Right. That's a great match up. And then the Monday Night Games are pretty good. Yeah, Cincinnati at Baltimore, that should be a really good game. That's a tough division. That's a really good division. And then, you know, always fun to watch San Diego and Oakland play out West. I love the double Monday night. It's got to be an out West team. So, you know. Yeah, that sort of makes sense to do those two teams Yeah, that first one's interesting a second one is not so interesting to me and then if you look I mean there's Thursday night games Jake: Every week. Yeah, that's so that's another big news the schedule is that they have made every single One a Thursday night game, but there's a Thursday night game every single week Justin: until week 16. Right. So uh... So week two, well week one through 15. So for the... It's on the NFL Network. Right, but for those NFL Network people that's Happyland, For people don't have it that first set. I mean I'm looking at week two. It's like Chicago at Green Bay That's like wow. That's a big-time game, and if you don't have the NFL Network you can't watch it That kind of sucks. Jake: Looking down here, I'm seeing the ones that look like big games that kind of they took away. On Thursday nights? Yeah, Dolphins Bills. I mean, that could be something. I'm looking just at Thursday night schedule. Oh, okay. But that's really the ones. Saints Falcons? I mean, that could be kind of a good game.
00 Jake: Kansas City at San Diego. That could be good. I don't know if that's a big audience. game let's see about Monday night do Monday night get a bunch of doo doos this year Justin: well you really can't tell well but looking at now I'm saying uh the starting's okay you've got the first two weeks you're gonna see Peyton Manning in prime time you're gonna see him probably a lot uh week three doesn't look too good right Monday Sunday Monday Monday okay Monday okay yeah so So we're on week five. Yep, Denver's on again in week six and they're gonna be on prime time all the time Detroit Chicago is a good game. It looks like Monday got actually some pretty decent game. Yes, 49er Cardinals looks like Philly at New Orleans That would be really good. Kansas City at Pittsburgh. Yeah, and those Chicago at San Francisco that could be really good Giants Redskins. They got a division matchup there Houston at New England. That's a big one Jake: Week 14 and then Jets Jets Titans that will be there. So that'll be a good one I mean, I'm hoping it's yeah for it one way and then what about Sunday night any Sunday night Surprises or stuff that you're kind of like oh, we're on Sunday night quite a bit. Yep Justin: Right. So cow was giant starting that's great. I mean week 14 and week 15 See New England got sort of shafted in the like how we did in the fake schedule New England's got Houston on Monday night in week 14 and then they got San Francisco on Sunday night in week 15 where we play those two teams back to back in early in the season they get them late and in prime time they're home for both of them But still those are tough matchups. I don't know how San Francisco got stuck going to the Jets and to New England and That basically means they're gonna have Miami and Buffalo at home. I think you'd want the opposite but Now same thing for Houston Jake: Sucks for those two teams. Why do I see the Chargers as the Sunday night on December 23rd? Yeah, Chargers Jets. Okay, that's a Sunday night too? Justin: Wow. We're doing it. Sunday night. Jake: Alright, so... Fun stuff. Yeah, I mean, again, it's the best time... it's the best time of year. It's like Christmas. It's like Christmas. It tells me when I'm going all these games. Tickets in July. Probably go to the Dolphins game down in on week three the away game. We're definitely going to the Titans game That one probably my two away games, but it looks great. Can't wait All right. Let's take some let's go to the let's go to Facebook people seem to like that Justin: No, it's also fun. Just one last week five Denver's going to New England so you get another Manning-Brady matchup. Jake: Different teams. I just don't think it's gonna be like the old... I don't know. My gut right now is Denver's not gonna be that good. It's gonna be a bit...
01 Jake: it's not Peyton Manning Colts. It's Peyton Manning Denver. New offense, new players, new everything. I just don't think it's gonna work out as well. What are we going to? Let's go to some questions. We got some questions coming up on on our what we called a Facebook where Facebook.com jet Kingdom go there So we so now I've started posting when we're about to do a podcast like a day before I say hey is everybody want to post Some questions it gets some feedback. So people are actually Joining us on there. It's great So yeah, so they have a bet on how many times I'm gonna say the f-word I've already someone should have with me under so it's a voice at twice. I think so far And then we actually one good two two things that we should discuss one says four and four into the by what do you think? Justin: 4 and 4 into the buy, that sounds about right. When I was looking at the schedule I had us about 500 through like 10 games. Not to get too far into our picks, but I think that 4 and 4 into the buy is probably about right. Um... You know you you you want to in order to do that you'll probably have to sweep the Dolphins. I'm thinking There's some tough games in there Steelers Niners Texans You think you might win one of those right and then you know you beat the Colts Take care of the Colts and then you know maybe you beat the Bills and you split with the Dolphins your four and four Jake: Yeah, I think that's reason yeah more important. I think it's sort of the AFC side of that you sweep the Dolphins. That's That's two two AC wins in your division. Let's say you lose the Patriots. I'm sure you're picking that Yeah, you win against the bills, right? So now you're three and one you're three and one in your division if we're three and one division eight of four four overall I'm better than I am at even you know That that to me is more important the division side of that you go in your by You know again, I think we've said and it's been proven true in the last couple years You want to be power into the into the into December. Don't be laying an egg Don't be strong and then kind of go down. So You know teams have been winning late and let's win late. Let's get it. Let's get it under a belt Let's win a couple with take care of our home games. But yes, we lose a couple we lose a game to the you know We lose to the Steelers You know, at the Steelers, okay. Patriots, okay. What, you're probably taking 49ers in Texans. We both get beat there. Is that what you're saying? Justin: We're home for those. Jake: Yeah, I know, but we're saying we lose those two games. Justin: Yeah, I'm thinking we'll probably lose the Steelers game. Jake: You probably have a more like 5 and 3 going in the bye. I see 5 and 3 here, not 4 and 4. Justin: No, I have a set 4 and 4. Jake: The splitting with the Dolphins. Justin: I have a set 4 and 4. I actually went beyond that. I went to... I went to... either six and five or five and six. Oh, you went... So I think we're gonna win our last five games. But I had us at five and six or six and five. Okay. Depending on the coin flip.
00 Justin: It looks more like... It looks to me four and four go in the buy again. Jake: Take the AFC and I'm happy. And the other question was, is 14 and two... ...impossible. Yes. I'm such a homer. Are you doing a Jets Fantasy League this year? See you next time. So those are two questions. Yeah. Is 14 and 2 impossible? Yes. It's not impossible, it's just not likely. It's improbable. It's improbable and not really likely. It's not gonna happen. And not gonna happen. Justin: Yeah, I'm not even sure I want 14 and 2. I'd rather be... Well, I'll take 14 and 2 at home field. Bye we. Good yeah, I mean that mean that's basically what that means Jake: I just feel like that I feel like those road dog wildcard teams are doing better in the playoffs Justin: You know I think you want to be the third seed. I think you want to play week one at home Right, I don't because if you're playing well, you don't want to sit Right, but you don't want to have to go on the road three times So you want to be the 3 seed who can play at home, win, then go play the 2 seed and hope whomever is playing the 1 seed beats them so that you can have the championship game at home. Right, but that's very improbable. But it happens all the time. It happened, you know. Almost in the NFC if the if the Niners would have lost to the second question. Are you doing a jet fantasy league this year? No Jake: Well, we talked about it last year. Are we? Yeah what I'd kind of like to do We play fantasy obviously in another league my league actually our league your co-commissioner. You're a vice commissioner I know why I said vice commissioner New York Vice I think I would like to and here's how I'd like to do it. I'd like to do it on a different platform I kind of want to try out a different platform because we want to CBS So I kind of want to try out a different platform to do it on right. How do we let people in? Well, we'll That's the way we're gonna the fun part. That's the fun part We will we'll do some way that you can get into the league. How many people are in this league 12? Think we'll do 12. I'm just throwing stuff out there. I would say 12 on a different platform and You have to earn your way in so it's 10 spots Yeah, you gotta earn your way. You gotta earn your way into the league We'll do and we'll do a it won't be a keeper league Justin: It'll be a every year draft league this guy's in though Steven James Peterson. Well, he's been he's Jake: You're in. Steven, you're in. I wasn't gonna do Welcome to the Man's League. No. He's in though. You're in. Alright, so we'll figure it out. I'd like to. I think it'd be fun. For S's and G's. Yep. Alright. So that's it for this week. For those of you in the UK, clearly we don't record at your time period. We'll record at our own. Sorry about that.
