09 Justin: The best place to be is when expectations are high. Get used to it. It's always going to be that way. Get away! Jake: Welcome to Jake Kingman Podcasts, longest run near Jess Podcasts ever. I'm in a hurry, so let's get going. I'm Jake, he's Justin. 2014 schedule. Let's go. How you doing buddy? I'm good. I was waiting for you to like stop. Uh, we're just gonna power through. So last week we recorded a podcast and a day later they released a schedule. Yeah, I have the 2014 schedule. The draft is coming up draft craziness is ensuing. And we have our schedule. So. It's time to dig in. You've already sent me the email of the games you want to go to. Correct. I have already denied you of all of them. Justin: Not true. Jake: You have crappy friends who have weddings in September. True statement. And you will be missing some games. Justin: One game. Jake: But I find it funny just quickly, I find it funny that just looking at the opponents feels like nothing. But when you get the schedule, it feels like so much different. It means so much more. I hate our schedule. All right, let's get to it. Well, we're not gonna go through game by game Justin: No, we're not doing that not picking them. I don't like our schedule Well, we're gonna talk about it. I do like about it and there's some really certain things that I hate about it Jake: Like I'm like, oh, well, let's talk about the overall schedule. So there's a couple differences this year three London games crazy down that's a big one on the opener is actually it's the fail mary recap Phil Mary 2. It's a good game. So Packers go to Seahawks. Not great for us. Not good Justin: for us because you know we play Green Bay in week two. Thanksgiving game is privileging Jake: is no AFC, no AFC game teams at all. So there's an entire. Justin: all NFC on Thanksgiving. So the AFC is going to be broadcasting an all NFC game. It's kind of weird. Jake: Now there's a couple new switches. So let's just talk about them. C.B.S. now can have games, and for the first time there can be swaps. Inter inter whatever swaps between or whatever doesn't mean a the flexes flexes can flexes can happen between channels What do you mean? So that's why CBS can now Have an all-a.s. The game. Oh because of the national game the 425 big-time prime time national game
15 Jake: Well, the last thing is we finally get back to Saturday game. So we get the a Saturday double-header towards the end of the season Justin: is Jake: And then of course, like last year we're having all Thursday night games. So there's Thursday nights every year or every Saturday every week. I have since starting the second week. 17 too? No, not that week. So it's like two through what? 14. No, one still even has one. Justin: The opener is usually Thursday. That's true. So it's opener through 16? Yeah, usually there's not one the last week. Jake: So really what it is just a lot of football. Fantastic. It's a lot of fucking football. So those are the big, big pieces. A couple of teams that could be on the, you know,- I think the Raiders have the hardest schedule. I don't know, I don't know. So let's get the jet schedule. I, I, I, so we'll talk about it that we open at home and I like that we have three or four at home. So that's good. Rex Ryan came out. He said, um, his take on it was we open three or four at home. Which is huge. So get a start. Get a good start as a fan. You want to get, you know, be there. And then we finish five, six, seven brutal. Well, let's not talk about specifics. Then we finish. in the road. Yeah. So and what I'm really interested is that they picked the last game as last year. Like exact same game. Same opponent, same place for us. For the Jets and Dolphins. Like we played them last year in Dolphins, the last game of the year, and we're playing them in Dolphins. I mean, it's like that seems about as creative as, I don't know, not being Justin: grave at all. Who cares you've only got like one of three te- One of three teams you could play anyway. Jake: I understand, but we played them last year the exact same team. I don't know. So, so let's talk about schedule. So I know you always like to break things down into quarters. Second quarter is brutal. Well the other thing is we have a week 11 buy. That's a good buy. I like a week 11 buy too. a week 11 buy. It's our latest buy ever and it's been going up by every week, every year. So like, last year was 12. No, sorry. Alright, last year was... 10. 10, three, four, nine. It's been going up every year for the last couple of years, our buy. Interesting. But yes, we have our week 11 buy, which is pretty cool. Justin: And to come off our buy, we're playing in Buffalo, just like last year.
00 Justin: We played Buffalo after our buy week in Buffalo. Again, creative, not very much. Jake: So let's talk about, so the opener, Raiders at home. Thoughts? Great opener. Great opener. That's what you want. Yep. Don't like week everything should be a game that really do everything. Justin: They have the same staff. Jake: Yeah, who's your quarterback? Justin: All right, so what, new quarterback. They had no quarterback last year. Jake: I hope it's a rookie, we'll do well. Then we go to the Packers. Justin: Well, they signed a guy, didn't they? Yeah, Matt Shaw, great. Good, they're Matt Shaw. Pick six, Matt Shaw. Jake: Then we go to the Packers. Justin: That's not a good game. Jake: A late Packers game. Not a good, not a good. Not a good week two. The only thing you can hope for is that they're like rusty. No, because they're going to play Thursday Justin: and they're going to play in Seattle and they're going to lose and they're not going to go on two. Jake: Well, I think they went on two last year, didn't they? Justin: They started off playing the NFC North in the first quarter of the season. Jake: Then the Jets come back and I think have a nice have a nice little thing. We play Monday night Bears, which is kind of fun. We have actually three night games this year, two Monday night Home games. I was fun to watch. We had no Monday night home games last year. This year we have two. So we kind of made up for it. Justin: Cargo's fun, Detroit's fun. Jake: Right, so we play Monday night for the Bears, then we play the Lions, one o'clock. Justin: This is where it gets screwy. Jake: Then we go on this crazy, crazy, which, you know, this is a tough quarter. You're gonna go for the tough quarter. Week five, we go at Chargers, 425, right? Well, so it's the late game, that makes sense. Justin: Never really scared of the Chargers, but that's a tough. Jake: road game there. Yeah, I guess. Then here, then this is where it gets tough. This is bullshit. Then we come back and we play the Broncos at home one o'clock. Fine, okay, you come back, you play them at home. You're back home, great. You play the Broncos, so you know he's not playing them there. This is the gauntlet. Then they fucked us in the ass because just four days after playing the number one offense in the league last year, We then have to go to Patriots, which at least is not like, you know, cross-back, cross-country, just up the Turnpike, and play the Patriots, our huge rivals, and- Why do we continue to play the Patriots on Thursday nights? Justin: Why do we have- We always get murdered by them on Thursday nights. Have we ever beat them on a Thursday night? I think we've always gotten smoked by them on Thursday nights. But fumble. Jake: That was a Thursday night. Didn't we play? Oh, we didn't get smoked last year, but we lost. Yeah, it was 1013. Like we walked in overtime. Like a lot. I know. But we played that game. Well, we had a chance to win it. If not for, for Pixx, for, for Mr. Interception, he threw two in the fourth quarter. Well, we had, well, we had every chance to win that game. Remember, it was like foggy. I don't want to go through the whole schedule. I just wanted to hit that little point. All right. Denver we're not picking the games. I'm just saying then we play the bills Okay, that's all we always beat them. All right, then we have chiefs at the Chiefs
05 Jake: Then Steelers at home tough game then the bye Justin: Which I think is a great bye week. Yeah, you get beat up by the Steelers. You need a little by way Jake: It's just it's just towards the end too It's like if you're if you're gonna make a play these last six games if you're gonna be in it You want to have a bye to get healthy before it? But then at Bill's, which is the it's after Thanksgiving. Yeah, we'll have played the bills twice before we played the dolphins once. That's correct. Then we do Monday night dolphins at home at Vikings at Titans Patriots at home for Justin: the third year in a row. Jake: Third year in a row. And but we're bringing their running back with us. Patriots at home and then go to the doll. Justin: That's gonna be a fun one. December 21st. I hope that. ends up being flexed because I hope it means something. Jake: It might be. That could be a good flex game. Right before Christmas. That's a crazy game. That's a big one. And then down the Dolphins, which I think I'm going back down this year. This is my year to go down to the Dolphins. Go to the Finneys. Yeah. Stay for New Years. December 28th. Yeah, I'm gonna do something in there. I don't know if I'll stay all the way for New Years. We might go a little early, like, because we might go like 24th. 25th. Yeah. Go for Christmas? No, I was in Miami for Christmas last year. I know. Did you go to the game? Well, no, no, they didn't play them on Christmas. They played them on 30th of the year. Yeah, 30th, I think. So overall, thoughts? Justin: There's just that stretch in the week 5 through 7 that doesn't strike me as simple in the slightest. And I'm going to go to Detroit and Green Bay back to back. Green Bay, Chicago, Detroit back to back. is And then San Diego, then Denver, the New England, that's like six straight weeks of really like top 10 offenses. Right. Like green Bay, top offense, Chicago, top offense, Detroit, top offense, San Diego, top offense, Denver, the top offense, New England, always tough on offense. I mean, that is a crazy fucking stretch of offenses. Jake: I think we're going to pick, we're going to pick defense for this round. Um, but remember last year we had that death. I think it was, um, started with Atlanta. It was Falcon Steer's Patriot Bengal Saints. Right? Now, if Falcon's turned into a shit show, we beat them. Justin: We got rocked in a couple of those cans. Jake: Beat Steer's, then beat the Patriots, we got beat by the Steer's, then beat the Patriots, then got destroyed by the Bengals, then beat the Saints. So like we beat the Saints and the Patriots. I know the Falcons turned out very terrible garbage team Bears, dolphins, vikings, titans, you have to win those. And yet so throwing in, you know, even like I got to be this year, are they going to be
01 Jake: great teaming? I feel like they should be pretty good. I don't see a reason why they wouldn't be good. And then you're going to have to win one of the tough ones. I mean, nothing, nothing for gimmes. I don't think that exists in the NFL. I don't know, we've gone there twice, in the last two years, and gotten our ass kicked, both times. I think we threw six interceptions Chris Johnson running. Creamed on our face. Big gump. It's been terrible. Vikings, I don't think that's a, you know, they could be out of it, Titans could be- out of it. I'm just saying, we're gonna have to win. We're gonna have to take two or three of these two of the three toughest games Justin: we're gonna have to win. Two through seven is a serious gauntlet of offensive firepower. And those teams are legitimately great offenses. I mean, Green Bay, Aaron Rodgers, and now with the running game, Chicago, they have a Detroit, I mean, Calvin, who's stopping Calvin Johnson, really? San Diego, really good offense. Denver, fuck. They always beat us on that on those night games. We never get any glory in the night game. Well, we're on the 45 to three a night game. What the only the only sauce I take is that we've we've beaten Manning and Brady back to back weeks before. That was a couple of years ago in the playoffs. There you go. They were gotten a free free ride to the Super Bowl. Jake: Here's where we're going. Here's the magic right now. I'm going to tell you right now. This is the week that we do one quarterback one week and one quarterback the next and the next four days like I so like You're to of a tired, you Justin: , you know, yeah? Jake: I don't know if I want him to come back for like two games then go out again. I'm gonna be out for the season That's his thing Maybe we'll knock him out. You know, it's it's not if there's no cupcakes in this I mean even the cupcakes are like those surprise teams Raiders always play us very tough, you know There's no cupcakes bills maybe but then you know that'll be this will be the year the bills decide to like actually be a team Sorry those fans. I'm hoping that that last, I'm basically hoping that that last, that last five weeks, that's our in. Because those games are all winnable. We could sweep that. Justin: We could. We say it every year though and it doesn't happen. Jake: I know, but the Dolphins, I feel like we could sweep them. The Vikings Titans I think are beatable and then you just have to win that Patriots game.
04 Jake: Yeah, hopefully they're resting the players. We're gonna be 16. All right, well, what else we got? That's it? We just throwing up that? That's kind of all that happened. How's your, what do you think about the three London games? I don't know what they are. I don't know, one's paid, one's- Justin: I don't really care, whatever, they're just games. Jake: Well, I think we're up. I think literally in the next year or two, we're going to London. Oh, they're gonna announce the... Justin: and then there's a pool of teams that are that can completely pull out and be not eligible at all so I get if you've been on hard knocks in the last 10 years you can opt in and then you can get a full set of rules that are eligible for the hard knocks team Please no, thank you, right? If your head coach is in his first year, no prospective can be out. If you made the playoffs, you're out. I feel like there's only a pool of like eight to 10 teams that even. Jake: Who would you like to say? Justin: Oh, who's in the pool that you saw the pool and it was like, Oh, I want to see them. It was the Raiders because they're just so fucked. I just would love to see the Raiders because they're just. Jake: the on Cardinals, New York Giants, Jackson Jaguars, Oakland Raiders, St. Louis Rams, and Pittsburgh Steelers. None of those interest me at all. Justin: The Raiders interest me, the Giants, because they're here in New York, I watch it, and the Bills, because they're the lovable Bills. Yeah, I've watched that too. I've watched the Bills. And I think the Steelers would be interesting too, although I don't think they'd give a whole lot, but I want one of these guys is like Jake: I think it'd be the rams if Rams pick like manzell or gonna or if the or if who's the other one here or the Jackson Jaguars pick manzell whoever picks Justin: Johnny football might be the one that should be it they should get it Raiders could pick manzell I think. think the Raiders would be the Jake: They're just so fucked up. Yeah, I predict it's gonna be, they like to do a team that's like on the rise, not like a team that's like in the shitter. So, bills are in the shitter. Who was last year though? Cardinals I think could be the ones that would be in the, oh, it was the Bengals on the rise. Like they were a couple good years, like trying to make it over. Bengals again? Oh yeah, they did it. Justin: But it was bad. It wasn't good. You gotta pick a team where there's like a couple of guys who have who are interesting and like There's some turmoil or something going on to have a story to have a story about like the Jets were great because Rex was amazing Jake: Right. Well, who's a good coach in here you'd want to see? Name him again. I'm sorry. Bills, Bears, Cardinals Justin: would be interesting. I think he's a little boring, but I think they have
01 Justin: They have guys I'd like to see on Cutler. It would be funny. Cutler, Brandon Marshall's. Both of Brandon Marshall's personalities. They have some guys that I definitely would want to see. Jake: Giants, Jaguars. I think it's Jaguars. They need the hype. Arizona would be interesting too, I think. Because they're up and coming, but they're in this brutal division. Yeah, but they're good. Yeah, I know. But they're in a brutal division. They were a 10-win team, didn't make the playoffs. There I'd like to see Rams because then we can see Calvin Clemens Jeff Fisher. He's alright and then Steelers Justin: Rams would be good didn't they hire Greg Williams as their defensive coordinator? So like that could be interesting and they have and they've shot e don't they shot anheimer? Yeah, you see the shot man. I could be fun shot shot shot clock. We'll see when they announce it I think they're gonna announce it pretty soon. So I mean I watch them. It's just it's it's It's football porn. Jake: Um, oh it is. Football porn. Alright, well we have, those are our little ones. So our big podcast coming up next will be our draft podcast. Get you all set for the draft. We'll be doing our, well we'll see what Justin's actually going to agree to. But he is going to participate in some way, shape or form. We also have a review, believe it or not, on Stitcher. So I don't know if you've talked about Stitcher. Stitcher's like an app that you can listen to podcasts. Um, I was... I was seeing traffic on our podcast over there, so I said, oh, let me go over and take a look. And lo and behold, I found a review by Mama J Jumpers. All right. Over month and month ago. So I'll read it because if you post a review and we like it, we'll read it. Although this is kind of interesting. He goes, J and J need to keep a regular schedule in order to maintain any need to come of professionalism. was. Yes, there are slow weeks, but even a four minute show is better than going weeks at a time without any. Here's a good two minute show. Good content banter and opinions, but it's time to get serious, boys. Drop the Jets Fantasy League discussion. It's weak and no one gives a hoot. Huh. Well, thanks, Mama J. Jumperz. Ha! We can't- listen. When the money starts rolling in, we'll give you your daily podcast. When the checks... Yeah, pay us. Yeah. Pay me. Show me the money. We... Johnny Football style. This is totally a... what we like to call a pastime. This is not even freemium, bitch. It's free. Well, and we... we lose money on this. We actually pay for the hosting of it. Well, I guess I do. And... You know, we don't make a bloody cent. Time is money here. So that's why we do that. Justin: You want to pay us $400? Jake: We do it. We do it at the love of our love of the Jets. Yeah. So I don't like that review. It's a negative. No, it's fine. No. Justin: He's saying. Jake: How do you know what to eat? Mama Jay Jumper's. Mama sounds like a woman. But he's like jumping a mama. Go to hell. I don't need you just download. Don't listen. Don't listen. Well, maybe we should just record us going for four minutes and put it out there for him. That's fine. Just just over and over. Every day. Yeah, we can do that. Or we can do it.
01 Jake: just special fee. Special fee here. Subscribe here, sir. Anyway, or ma'am, I'm more saying if you're a podcast listener, you want to try out Stitcher. It's the only other place you can actually review the Jets. So we'll be back next week. We'll be going over the whole podcast. We are still going to do the Jets Kingdom Fantasy podcast or Jets Kingdom Fantasy League like we did last year. I'm pushing for 14 teams. Absolutely not. Justin has no say. Justin: Too many teams for our rules. 12 was great. Jake: 12 was really the I know I won I am the champion as the champion I can make the rules. Justin: No you should stick with 12 it's it's the right number. There's not even 14 offensive jets to play. I don't care that makes it more interesting. Someone's gonna be starting the punter as the kicker. Jake: Yeah, probably. Alright, so we will be so we'll put that out soon. Maybe we won't talk about as much Maybe we'll just leave the banter on the actual board But I think everybody who's played it has actually enjoyed playing against us Yeah, and since you and I have dominated the league for the last two years and no one has even come close Justin: It's called the Jet Kingdom Domination League Jake: I would like to say we I just can't wait for us to lose so someone else can actually hold that above us Justin: Someone named Rafi is gonna join. Rafi domination league. Jake: All right, we'll come back next week. We'll do some draft talk. That was our little Jet Kingdom schedule review. We'll see ya. Jake, Justin, all the usual bullshit. Follow us on Twitter. See you later. And thanks, Mama J. We'll jump you too. Go Jets.
