09 Jake: Welcome to the New York Jets Podcast, the longest running New York Jets podcast ever. I'm Jake and joining me 250 times in a row, Justin. How you doing, buddy? Justin: I'm all right. I'm a little frustrated. I don't know. What the hell? He's like, he's like, I can't like log into, ah, fuck this thing. Doesn't really matter. All right. Jake: Well, we have not a Monday podcast because the Jets not that we've done one this year, but Yeah, but the Jets lost. So we're gonna talk about the Jets game, the Patriots game. We're gonna do them pick them. We're gonna do some thrown picks. Talked about Keys the Castle and beating the Raiders. And that's it. And we'll get the fuck out of here. So let's do this. Okay. Let's talk about the game that was... Patriot's game. Almost fully recovered. It's Thursday. You, by the way, so this is funny because usually I'm the one that gets very upset about things and you're the one that shakes it off. This guy, we watched this game and he could not lighten up for like hours later. He was just so... It took me a couple days. I was like four minutes after the game. Four minutes after the game, I was like fine. Justin: I'm like just getting over it. Jake: I think there's a becoming, I think as a fan, and maybe you're just farther along or maybe not as involved as a fan, but as a fan, I've gotten to the point where, Justin: how dare you? Yeah, yeah. I will kick your ass in terms of fan of anything. Jake: No, first of all, you can't, it's like wives. you have a hundred different teams you follow, so therefore you're not as good a fan to any of them. Second of all, it's all bullshit. I just realized that I'm becoming more of just a realist and that while I want the Jets to win this game and I thought that there was a chance they could and there's definitely stuff that they had done better, my big thing to you was Did they shoot themselves in the foot? And yes, they ended up shooting themselves in the foot in penalties that shouldn't have happened, in drop balls that shouldn't have happened, in giving the Patriots on the first play just short field or whatever, third play, whatever it was. It's like they did the things that if those two things hadn't happened, this would have been a game that could have won. But I guess maybe I'm just in a... I would love if they'd win, I just don't see the Jets beating the Patriots in New England when New England looks like they look. So I was kind of like, I'm bummed, but it's kind of the way I thought I was gonna go. So I didn't get too well. And the Jets are still doing great. They're not a bad team, they're a good team. They just can't beat the Patriots, probably the best team in the league. And we're not gonna be able to beat the team
00 Jake: unless we can keep a clean game, which we cannot. So, you know, and the Patriots. By the way, I mean, how many drops do the Patriots have? Justin: Yeah, they you have to play perfect. They could to beat them when they aren't. When they didn't have their best game. Right. Exactly. Like they have to be perfect when they are average. Right. I mean, Brain and Laffel dropped like eight balls or something? I think officially it was only like three, but I think he dropped more than that. It just looks like he dropped balls left and right and... Edelman dropped a touchdown. Jake: And you can't make mistakes. You can't make mistakes calling a defensive play that leaves people open. Like, we made mistakes that let them do what they do, and we said it before, and this team... Again until we can go in and play a pretty much mistake-free game. You can't beat this team You're just not gonna beat them. So I don't know I was bummed but I got over real quick I think the the thing I took away from it very quickly was we're a good team We kept a really good team in chess. So now you believe. I believe we're a good team. You did not believe before the game. No, what I said is I don't think that we're at the building. We've been beating up on bad teams, which is the truth. And now we went up against a good team and they beat us. That shows us where we are. We're not great. We're a very good team, a good team, above average team. We're a team that can win eight, nine, 10 games this season. We have an 84% chance of making the playoffs. Okay. Justin: Well, we've blown that before. According to all the number countries. Jake: We're the jets, we can blow that. What the good news is we have this, what looks like on paper, a cupcake schedule coming up that we should be able to put together a bunch of wins. Should we really be able to get to the wins? Justin: We should be able to get to that 10 win mark and we really, you and I have talked about this. We really are at this point aiming at that number five. We want the five seed. And we'll take that game one of the playoffs in Indy. Right. Thanks. We'll take that game. That's what we want at this point. Jake: Well, I mean, other than a massive collapse by the Patriots. Not happening unless Brady's leg breaks off. Justin: Brady and Gronkowski and Belichick get shot in the head. No, they're all in a car that goes off a cliff. I think, I think like Belichick would also have to go down. Jake: Brady is saying that he is playing better than he was five years ago and I kind of agree with him. Justin: Yeah, he's really good. He's probably still good. You know he threw the ball 54 times. Yeah. They barely ran. Oh my God. They didn't even try. Jake: This is the thing that is again, if I wish I was a fan because I would just be, I'd be, you know. Thank you. They just say, you know what? We can gain five, six yards on every throw. So we're just gonna throw it. Have fun. And even no matter how good you are, we'll still get that many yards.
00 Jake: We'll still walk down the field. And all we have to do is wait for you, typical game, typical person, to make a mistake, and then we're gonna capitalize on it. We're gonna get the ball after the thing. We're gonna go down with your touchdown. Justin: We're just gonna take it to you. Hey, what'd you think of... Todd Bulls is first real on breaking work breaking alert Nick mangled to play versus Oakland. Excellent. So we didn't talk about the interest. Oh goodness. He's healthy. Um, what do you think about like Bulls is for this was like really our first type game and his late game sort of decision to not call timeouts. and sort of saved them. I think so. He gave his rationale. And it was very logical. You hated. No, I didn't. It was logical. I was I was watching it. I didn't get it. I was like, call timeout, call timeout, call timeout. I know. And he's not calling timeout. I'm thinking why this is such a- Jake: So just usually about 30 to 40 seconds before the two minute warning is when you start bending at how many you have. You start, if you have three, that's when you start- And where the other team is on the field. And you want to, well, you want to get them, you want to stop them before the time, you want to leave yourself one. after but if you could get them to stop before the two-minute warning, basically don't leave all three of them in the after two-minute warning. Justin: Well, no, that's not even the thing. It- it- that's irrelevant. He just wasn't using them at all. Jake: Well, he wasn't using them before and they started using them after but he wanted them- he wanted to kick them for the offensive play. We're down by 10. And he gave his rationale, which was, I bought it. Justin: I'm like, okay, you had a reason. He's like They weren't running right there throwing and at any point it could be an incomplete path and it worked by the way Jake: They had to it was like 212 or 220 and they threw twice and they to to Justin: Stoppages like it kind of work. It works. I was like, okay his rationale. Okay What hurt us was we lost a timeout because somebody got injured inside of two minutes right and we lost one right that We wouldn't have used That hurt because then the penalty for not lining up correctly and Yeah, I mean that that's just I have I have a bigger it the lining up correctly That's hard like to get your ass lined up like that in Within like five seconds after you've run straight down the field, right? That's a lot to ask, right? You gain 12 yards. But guys running down the fields, like 20, 30 yards down the field, you gotta run all the way the fuck back and get in the same, like, lined up correctly. Right. And he realized that he wasn't lined up correctly, so he moved, and he was actually called for a false start. because he was covering the line and Devin Smith was already covering it. He wasn't supposed to be.
00 Justin: So the rookie, he was covering the tackles. Then Brandon Marshall was like, oh shit, I'm on the line scrimmage. I'm not allowed to be on the line scrimmage. I have to get off the line scrimmage. And that was the false start and then the 10 second runoff. So we lost the timeout in the injury, which we would have had. The bigger problem here is why the fuck couldn't we just throw Gino in for the one play and just throw a goddamn Hail Mary 50 yards down the field? Why do we have to get it to the 40? Because Bol said he's like, if you could do it over, would you do it the same way? He's like, yeah, he simply couldn't reach. It was like So your quarterback can't throw the ball 50 yards. Well, he can't throw it 50 yards. He just needs a one. We've seen him throw it 50 yards. Well, if you're on the 50, you've got to throw it figure 55 to 60 yards in the air. Because you're taking the snap. You're dropping back at least five yards. Jake: Well, there's always the theory too that you can grab someone you grab at the five and then make a play. Not happening. Well, it can happen. Justin: You have to throw it in the end zone. Or near the end zone or to the goal line. Right. Which is a 55 to 60 yard row right which he basically admitted Can't do right so we tried to get 10 yards closer Why over the middle and not on the sideline with no time out long where sense well it the sense is that that's where it's open But okay, like he could have thrown into curly on the left side for seven right and he would have Gooted out of bounds and we would have had five seconds left and he would have been seven yards closer Whether he needed 12 or seven. Okay fine But why not just take Gino who's standing there with a cannon and just be like hey, dude throw fucking hell Mary Jake: I think I think that's it's great in retrospect That's one of those things but during the game while it's going on the guy is on the field You then first of all Gino would have to go warm up No warm up, just go in and throw one ball. Justin: Throw it down the field. That's not gonna work. That's mad and it's like, ah, I just swapped out this guy. That's not realistic. But it's totally realistic. If one guy... Are you crazy if a guy can't throw the ball 55 yards? No, you played the game. Then why not put a guy to throw the ball 55 yards? Jake: Because that guy also could... Justin: They played to lose. This is your thing. You hate this. If you need a touchdown, why throw for 12 yards? Jake: Well, I don't- Why did they throw for 12 yards if they needed a touchdown? Because that's the only thing they could do. Because of why? Because the guy has a weak arm. Justin: They're gonna put the guy in who can throw the goddamn ball. Jake: You don't think that's realistic? Why? I've just- Alright, you want the reasons? It's not realistic. You're gonna keep talking. Justin: No, because you're saying it's not realistic? No, but then you keep talking. Jake: Yeah, it's not realistic. You have no good reason to say it's not realistic. I'm gonna tell you. Geno Smith, who has not played a down this year... has, is not warmed up, is not ready, that play is not something that's already built and in the playbook. A Hail Mary? A Hail Mary. That he's ready to go in to do. Are you crazy? I'm telling you. It's the easiest play in the book. Justin: You drop back, you wait a second,
01 Justin: and you throw the ball in the air. Jake: Listen, if you wanna make the argument that There should be in our playbook that Dan Galey has that everybody knows about that's called the Sit your fucking fits magic ass down because you can't throw the ball. Geno time Hail Mary I'm cool with that. Yeah, if that should be in the playbook fine. It doesn't have to be in the playbook Well, you should know it has to be it doesn't have to be Hail Mary. It's the simplest thing ever. I understand Justin: Everyone run down the field And I'm gonna throw it. It's not. Jake: And someone's either gonna catch it or they're not. I think you think... I think you think football is more simpler. It's not just swapping a guy who hasn't played at all. Justin: No, you're making it way more complicated than it has to be. It's one throw. Hey, we're all on the backfield. Just fucking throw it down the field, baby. That's kind of all it is. I thought you said like, it's one guy who can throw the ball 60 yards and another can't. Jake: Who don't know that he's coming on. Justin: It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. Nick Mangold doesn't matter. Nick Mangold wasn't on the field. The clock was stopped. It was off of us recovering the onside kick. So at that point, you are fresh. You are sending the offense out on the field with 12 seconds. to do something. You can the sideline and say, hey, Fitz can't throw the ball that far, which they all knew, right, because they ran a that wasn't a Hail Mary. This guy can. He's gonna go out there. And we're gonna throw it. Jake: So let's get to it. Why not pick a coach? You're saying that why didn't the coach put in the one play that we could have done? You absolutely have to call him as a fool. Don't you think that he should have thrown a Hail Mary? Can't wait for you to say... Listen, in retrospect... I mean, it's not like... I'm not sitting here saying, oh, we would have won. Justin: Or it would have happened and it would have tied the game or whatever. Because... A lot of things could have gone wrong. You really need to have to go right. Like, you need to throw the ball out there. Well, even though we got the on-site, it was almost painful. Like, because you should never get that. You still need to make that extra point, which is not a gimme anymore. Like, a lot of things need to go right, and that's just to tie the game. Right. So, like, I'm not saying anything would have been different in the outcome. I'm not thinking that way come out for play the Jake: but it has to be something that they know is going to happen. Justin: practice before.
03 Justin: Football that's what a Hail Mary is and run down Jake: I'm sure every offensive coordinator and every coach would just say you know what it's the fucking simplest thing in the point Justin: It's a simple you know as the only backup who dresses the dude The only even as the only backup who dresses give it to Marshall or the poet father doesn't know the playbook Then you'd be mistaken If he doesn't know the Hail Mary play. Of course he knows the Hail Mary play. Jake: Then what are you talking about that he wasn't ready? Practiced? Who gives a fuck you're throwing the ball down the field 60 yards. You were sounding like more and more like a ranting lunatic. You're sounding more like a fan. Most people... Not a broadcaster. Most people listening to this? You know what? Broadcasters? Broadcasters? Don't do it. You're attacking me Justin: Hacking you you're saying your broadcaster broadcaster do this you're not actually addressing the point I am I just throw the ball Jake: Five yards down the field. Nope. That's true. You know, it was taken point by point Can't throw the ball down the field Justin: Therefore we lost game at that moment when true and we got the ball fine true We literally couldn't win keep going but you but your whole thing about football is like why don't Why don't you just keep going until you like if you're losing by 20? Throw the ball down the field as far as you can because that's what you should be doing as fast as you can do it This is also true. So why the fuck didn't they just put the guy in who could do it? Because that's not the plan they had for that scenario. Jake: Well that's poor planning. Agreed. Poor. But what you were saying was, why couldn't they just do it? And I was saying, you can't just do it. You can't. You totally could. Okay. They totally could have made that plan. You clearly know more than every coach on the field at the time. It's true. That's true. Justin: Guess what? Let me tell you this. All right. If if for some reason yes if Garoppolo had a better arm than Brady. Yeah, let's just say it's Brady five years from now And he's still playing because we know he's playing ten more years right yes, so Five years from now Brady's like Manning is right now right yeah great actually use Manning as an example They play this Monday night right okay, or Sunday night against against Green Bay. Yes, they're down by Six. Three seconds left, they have the ball on their own 45. Right. Basically the only way they're winning is either a hook and ladder, which never works. It's worked once, but okay. Or a Hail Mary. Okay. And they've got Osweiler on the bench who's got a fucking cannon. Okay. Would you like Manning can't throw the ball for like 30? Well, see what happens Do you think it'd be wrong to just take a smile and make dude throw the hell man? I've seen them do it. They did it last year and they practiced it and that's the point You don't have to practice what they yes you do really don't it's a quarterback Who's done this a million times a million the snap a million? Jake: A lot no the snap which you've done. Oh my god, and you throw the ball. Oh my god. Oh my god
01 Jake: I'm dying inside from this conversation. I hate you. No one is fucking disagreeing with you But you're but you're just you're just waiting you're just ranting. You're disagreeing. I agree with you completely in everything you're saying Wow, that was I'm glad we have that record. Yeah, we do Haha, all right, but we've seen episode 250. This is like kind of a moment I'm glad we went up against each other last week in fantasy. We having a moment right now 250? No Right now I could I don't even this I want this is the last episode all right for the rant or Justin: It's the podcast and the rant all right, so I'm gonna give my fool of the game Thanks, what is that your play of the game the Hail Mary that wasn't no I have a fool and I have a play My fool is Steve Weatherford I thought, yeah, cool. I hate our punter. Steve Watford's cool. I liked him. Yeah, it was great. He was terrible. He was terrible. Awful. Jake: You can't... You can't say... You can't say... Well, do you know what happened? Do you actually hear what happened? The guy got, like, hurt and then... No, no, no. He had, like... He was final week. He showed up to practice on Saturday. Like swollen leg, whatever. But nothing that anybody can figure out. And then Weatherford's on the radio and they call him on the radio. They had 24 hours to get this guy. Justin: Less than 24 hours, because they had to get him on the bus the next day. So Weatherford's doing a radio show in New York and they call him during commercial and they're like, hey, wanna go punt for the Jets? 51,000 dollars for the day. Now he's gone, right? Yeah, he's gone. That's it. Jake: But I mean, that was, that just. That's the kind of shit that's gonna happen to you and that's the thing that's like that's the that's a rough one and Justin: There were a couple that were like really bad puns like really bad Really good field position and that's not do that. Well, we would have done it anyway because quickly is terrible Jake: But you might have given like extra 10 yards. Maybe also I just don't understand. I'm gonna say I don't understand how we couldn't get to Brady Moore. Justin: He, like we just, I mean how many times was he sacked? Well we sacked him three times in the first half and then we didn't touch him out. Couldn't touch him. You can't blitz him, that's a problem. And he gets rid of the ball so fucking fast. So he just gets rid of it. I mean if you look at it, he doesn't throw the ball down the field. Oh, and here's the thing. Jake: This is the thing that happened to the Patriots that never happened to Jets. Brady gets sacked, fumbles the ball, it's floating around, and it just happens to get kicked. And it get kicked. Right into Brady's hand. It's like outstretched hands. Justin: That wasn't even considered a sack because he gained a yard. So that was like he ran for a yard. That wasn't even a sack. I don't know. I don't want to pick a fool. So my fool is that and my play of the game, which is like a negative play, which there was a there was a third and 17 That was a big play that um We gave up a pass over the middle of a mandola for 27 And they picked up like a third and 17 a very key situation And that was that was rough because we were getting them off the field and it didn't end up happening and that was a rough one.
00 Justin: The other one was Marshall. Marshall dropped that touchdown. Jake: Whoever came up with the defensive game plan, I think should get the full because that guy still went out there and made us up. Justin: I do not think that it was that poor. I mean, going into the fourth quarter, we were winning 2016 in the fourth quarter. Okay. We got tired, I think. We just got tired. I do. I think the front floor got tired. I like our run D, but everything else. Well, they didn't even try. I did not even try. I mean, they really didn't. Anyway, let's move on. I mean, by the way, the pads dropped 30 on us. And you know, they are the, you know, the. Say they're definitely the best. Yeah, I mean they averaged 35 and a half points again, right? Okay, and and they average ours they averaged 410 yards again, we only kept them the 355 so like we did a better job than most most and You know by the by the stats. They are the number one offense in Football we'll see we'll see we'll see tonight like it'll be interesting because now we're now number two defense in football We draw one Denver. Oh, well, they never game. Well, we've both now played six games. Okay Fine, whatever. It's based on yards per game. That's how they do that. Alright, let's uh, anybody else who impressed or depressed Jake: I give you my guys. All right. Let's talk about the jet Kingdom pick them for the week Let's talk about the weekly performance the winner of last week was oh My Cala hey 75 with 10 good job. I had eight I had seven. We took we broke broke one up on me Justin: I got one on seven. I got one on you. New York Jake: Jets is still at 59 ahead. He's now the first he's now holding it by himself I'm at 55 and you are oh, you're only 53 only couple behind way to behind or choosing bad for below me again I will not blow you and so many leagues. You're below me All right, so much fun Justin: It only matters what happens at the end of the season. All right, let's do some pics Let's start us off. We'll skip Thursday because it's an AFC East match up and we go into those in a little bit more detail. Let's do the rest of the league with the spreads. We're gonna do this a little quickly. Yeah, we've got a London game. Jake: Yes, another. Justin: 9.30am in the east coast. What do you like or dislike? I love. I like. I fucking love. I wish there was this every goddamn week. It's nice. It's great. The only thing is the four o'clock. It kills the four o'clock. I mean, there are two this week. Stupid fucking NFL. I'll just throw Another one of these games at four o'clock. I know this week say it's for the ratings Like if they only have two games and one of them's in the net there's only one game red zone is is shit with two But what's the point just put it in dual box the whole time? Yeah, it sucks. Anyway, let's start it off
03 Justin: Kansas City is hosting Detroit in London. Jake: By the way, last week I picked a lot of get right games. I got a couple of them. Like I got a couple of those ones I said they're going to win. Good for you. Right games. Yeah. Justin: So was Kansas City one of them? I don't know. So Kansas City is hosting in London, Detroit. These two teams are even to me. So I'm just going to take the five and I'll take Detroit. They're even? They're even. And I think Detroit, they just fired a bunch of coaches, not their head coach. But I think that fires a team up for a week. I agree. Jake: I just think Kansas City's got a better defense. I don't know. I am a little bit... They feel even. I'm picking Kansas City. Who's gonna take the point? I'm picking Kansas City. I'm gonna take the point. It's actually gone up. Five is too many. Justin: Five is a lot. Way too many. All right. Atlanta is hosting Tampa. Atlanta is still rolling. one. They're winning close games and they're favored by seven. So I think that's too many points because they win a lot of close games. So I'll take Tampa and the seven. I totally I do. They do win a lot of close games, but I think at home, I feel like Tampa Bay is not a good team. Coming off by I think I'm going to take Atlanta. I think I'm not sure about that. All right. Chicago is hosting Minnesota. I don't know what happened to this line and how it. It moved a lot now. Chicago's home, it's a pick them, I'll pick Minnesota. I'm gonna take Minnesota as well. Yeah, this is weird how that line moved like that. All right, Arizona is going to Cleveland. Arizona is favored by four and a half. I think maybe some Johnny football in this game. I'll take Zona to crush them. Yeah, Zona is a better team. Cleveland is not very good. Yeah, Arizona wins. Alright, still at one o'clock here. St. Louis. That's the whole point. Why have fifteen one o'clock games? Why is St. Louis, San Francisco at one o'clock? Right. Exactly. Like that's an NFC West game. Throw it at four. Define West to me if you're playing at one o'clock. Why does San Francisco have to, you know, watch a division game at ten AM? You know what I mean? It's stupid. Alright, so St. Louis is hosting their favorite by 9. I love him in this matchup. San Francisco sucks. You get a little pressure on Kaepernick, he's terrible, and there's nobody better at front four than St. Louis. So I'll take St. Louis and I'll give those 9. 9 is too many, I'll take Sam Frant. Okay. New Orleans is hosting the Giants. They're giving 3.5 and it's that half that's making me pick the Giants. Because New Orleans' home field is not what it used to be. I mean, they're supposed to be good and stuff, but then I watch and I'm like totally under And they're supposed to suck the run in last week. Jake: Didn't Dallas just run all over them? All over them. All over them. That was like their big thing. No one could run on them. Yeah, they were the best run defense or whatever. Now I think he's going up against, I know Snorlons' record is terrible. They're not though. Justin: But I feel like they're actually not terrible. No, I think they're teen, that's what I'm saying. No, they're record even. I think their record is actually better than you think. They're three and four. That's not terrible.
00 Justin: Well, that's not good. Yeah, but the Giants are what, four and three? Jake: I think Norwegians at home, I don't know. I feel like they're gonna get some of this. Justin: I think Jones is gonna win too, but a half. The half is hard on me. Jake: But I could see Eli Manning going to Eli Manning mode and just throwing three picks. Justin: Well he didn't have a good game last week either so... Alright, Cincy is favored in Pittsburgh and Big Ben is playing. So they say, and I like Pittsburgh to just come out and be like, House on Fire. The undefeated Cincy. I know but House on Fire Pittsburgh. Home dog Pittsburgh with Big Ben. I know I'm not I'm taking Pittsburgh Jake: I'm totally taking Pittsburgh, but it's it's one of those like hasn't played anybody by the way, right? I don't know. Look at their schedule. It's like, you know Justin: There's six and oh and all and they just had to buy but I guess they beat Seattle at home, right? They ain't playing else though All right, it did beat Seattle Baltimore is hosting San Diego these two teams Santiago I'll just take the home team Baltimore given three Baltimore's defense is terrible Sandy. Oh these two terrible. I'll take San Diego San Diego was losing 30 to 6 to the Raiders last night. Let's just remember that I know to the Jets game I know Houston last one o'clock is hosting Tennessee This game's off. I imagine it's because of Marry Oda. I'm going to take Tennessee. I don't care who starts. Yeah, I'm taking Tennessee. I don't think it's Marry Oda. You don't think that's the reason why this game is off. Yeah, maybe it is. I feel like it is. All right. All right. Seattle is going to Dallas. Seattle's favored on the road by six and I like Seattle against Dallas. Des is back but we don't know how good. Still Matt Castle so... You know who's back? We know that Des is actually playing. I know he's practicing. Well I've heard him play. He practiced last week. I think he's playing. So we have, we have, but you know, Seattle... Or maybe a little overrated in the defense, but I just don't a third string quarterback Jake: Shouldn't be able to do much against Seattle right at home. I don't know I feel like it's a little bit too much I think I'm gonna switch my pick and pick Dallas. I don't like the six points big game Sunday night Really actually a good game Justin: Last week I thought was just terrible was that was that was my goals Panthers Oh who gives a shit who gives a fine shit and I was Panthers on again Monday and Monday was Baltimore Didn't even watch. No, I didn't watch Arizona. Yeah, I mean I just cuz I figured it'd be a bad game. Yeah, there's so much better than Baltimore Jake: But this week we actually have this good game on Sunday. Well, this is a Sunday game. I'll watch a cult game just because I think Andrew Lock's entertaining. Yeah, and so's Cam. Cam's entertaining. Justin: So we got Green Bay going to Denver.
00 Justin: And Denver at 6 and 0 is an underdog at home. Yeah. 2 and 1 half. Don't bet against Peyton Manning in prime time. What? Ever. Even noodle arm Peyton Manning? You just don't Peyton Manning. And I'm noodle arm Peyton Manning. Peyton Manning. Prime time. Getting points? Noodle? Noodle arm? I'll take Denver. I'm taking Green Bay. Okay. I'm staying away from this game. Well, you just had to pick it. So you're not staying away I'm just picked it Carolina is hosting the Colts Carolina's favorite by seven. I think that's probably about right if I could call a push I'd call a push I'll take the home team. I'll take care. I don't like seven sevens too much. I think sevens the score I think in these is 31 24 Indies Jake: Indy's still one of those teams, I think, if they turn it on, they can still be very good. I- Andrew Luck is, I don't know what's happening. Justin: This is like 24-3 in the third quarter, and then all of a sudden it ends up 31-24. Alright, let's get to the games of the century. Well, I think, what, we've only got two, right? Two. So you have- Tonight Thursday, so you'll probably have already heard this by the time this game's over. Yes We have Miami in New England New England favored by eight Which is fucking bullshit because they were favored by nine against us And we have a winning record fucking weird cuz we just demolished Miami but Miami's on this roll here where they've won two in a row pretty big played Yeah, give me New England to win They're averaging 35. So I'll say all right, they're gonna get 35 and Maybe Miami will get 16. So 35 16. They're just too much They're too much you can't stop them the only thing I get fences better than you think only thing I could think of is is Jake: The short week for New England after coming across I would think a pretty big game against the Jets But that doesn't affect them usually doesn't they're always prepared. I think New England wins this game Justin: I can't see it about the coaching matchup you build Belichick against this Guy who's coached two games ever on a short week Can he really prepare for Bill Belichick? No. Jake: On the road? I think the only thing that's good, again, what we couldn't do was create a lot of pressure to really get Brady off his spot. Our line is pretty fucking good. Right. Well, and they have a pretty good line too. Justin: Their lines, let's just call them even. Jake: So, we'll see. That's why I think, if they have a shot, that's the shot. Yeah. 34-23 New England. Justin: Alright, they're gonna get... crushed by Gronk and Edelman all over the place. All right, so... Now we got the Jets. So we got the Jets at Oakland. We have some injuries. You just broke the news. That Mangold is playing. Mangold's playing.
00 Justin: Decker, what's up? He's all good. I think Decker's gonna play. He's still got a sore knee from... Knee's still whatever. Cologne's... probably still sore but I think he's sore yeah screen with the head screens Jake: screens got a hand all right he's fine Smith I think Powell's gonna be out Awusu his fifth concussive concussion his fifth he needs to retire Justin: yeah he's done-ers you gotta go dude like I'd make that a policy it's just five and you're done Three and you're done. Three and you're done? Jake: Two and you're done. Fuck that. So I don't think injuries are really going to be a big thing in this game. But you just said Powell's out. I think Powell will be out. You think Ridley's going to play? Justin: He's been practicing for two weeks. But they have to make a broad decision though. We have to make our decision. Well, Owusu will go on the IR. Oh, okay. If you have five concussions, you should really just go on the IR. I mean really, someone else last week on IR. They put a... Also, they cut Jarett to pick up Weatherford, so that they could get the punter back. So you have that spot back, because it caught Weatherford. Jake: But Jarett's on the IR. Justin: I thought they caught him. Jake: There was someone who went on IR this week, doesn't matter. Sorry, let's talk about the keys to the castle. Who are the Oakland Raiders? You know what? They're not half bad. They took it to them last week. Justin: Well, San Diego sucks. San Diego's terrible. They've got a young quarterback who's up and coming. He looks pretty decent. They have a great rookie wide receiver in a Marry Cooper. A capable receiver on the other side in Crabtree. A pretty good running game if you let them get going. If you I think if you I've seen it, they're not gonna run if you shut that run down They stop trying right cuz they're kind of gunslinger II like that like car and they get out there and they just start winging it They're not gonna be able to run. You know Cooper Pretty good. Be a good matchup with Reavis. I imagine that'll be his guy Um with Crabtree being covered by Cromartie. I think we'll get back to our normal defensive Let's put some pressure on this young dude who hasn't seen this kind of pressure before Situation as opposed to Brady where we're really just rushing for a lot and playing some more zone coverage I think this will be more of a let's play our game, right? Um, and not necessarily so like specialized, um So to me, I don't know. The Raiders are better than like, oh, they're the Raiders, whatever you know, it's kind of like the Jets, like we're last place Jets. And but now you see us on your schedule and you're probably like, oh, shit. Right. They're actually like a good team. Like they're foreign to and they can play really well and they can score and they can stop people. So. You know, I think the absolute key to the castle is Ivory being healthy and being able to run the rock. Because it seems that when Ivory either doesn't play or can't get it going, we're like, oh fuck.
05 Justin: Well yeah, but when he can really get it going, and he can get those, you know, eight yard chunk runs. And it's like second and two, that's just much better for us. Jake: Second and two is better for everybody, but yes. Justin: Yeah, but you know, like. Like he really couldn't get it going. Like they're running a lot on first down and he was getting like three yards. Right yards. And it's like shit. Jake: But they were all over it too, and they were just not going to let us run. Justin: Well, he wasn't healthy. He was. He was not taking tackles. He was not bouncing it out. Like he normally, like he'll take the run inside and he'll bounce it out. Jake: But they also sold the house to stop him and they were able to do it. So he wasn't well. Justin: They were also double covering Marshall, so I don't see how they were like doing all those things at the same time. They were doing all everything at the same time. Oh, they were cheating. Jake: They probably cheated. They probably had 12 people in the field. Justin: So that's my cue to the castle, is get Ivory going. And I I like us in this game. I like us to put up some points I'm gonna go with the 2713 Jets Jets Jets Jets Jake: my key of the castle is I don't know who this team is. But I feel like if you're going to put them in the two categories of the people we've played, we've played the best team in NFL right now, and we've played a bunch of games that maybe have 500 records at this point. Maybe most who don't I think. I'm gonna have better hovering. I feel like this is the team that is well probably a good team and probably has the ability to beat us Like if we weren't playing our game I feel like this is a just go in and like you said go in and play our game play our defensive game our whatever I'm still waiting for the perfect the the the Fitzpatrick game where he doesn't Who's the ball in some fashion? Zero turnovers. Zero turnovers. I'm not even gonna ask for it. I'm not even gonna ask for it Justin: But I think it was rookie with a second year quarterback. I feel we're gonna get it. Why can't we ask for that? Like why can't our veteran quarterback who we are starting To not lose us games not turn the ball over once once like have a game It's like, okay, don't turn the ball over. This is the second test of Bulls. Jake: The first test was go to New England. Fail. You failed. The second test is come off a terrible loss against a rival that everybody's pissed about. Take your team, turn their attitudes around, and get them to go against the guys who you
03 Jake: think you can pretty much beat because you're a better team. We're a better team than the Oakland Raiders. That's a fact. But can we? turn it around with the injuries or whatever, and turn this team around. And I think this is a huge test for him. So I think that's the key is the mentality of the team and seeing if we can turn it around and go beat a team we should beat and just play our ball, play Jets ball. I think we do. I legitimately think we do, although I think I picked the solutions game. in the regular, because I just hate playing at Oakland. They always fuck us over. But I think we win this game, it's a revenge, points game, we just start flying, things start clicking, 3420, JETS, JETS, JETS, that's it. Justin: Did you like Bowles' quote about losing? And it's like, if he show you a good loser, I'll show you a bad winner or something like that. Like, if... Show me a good loser. I'll show you a loser. Yeah, you know who says that do love Trump. I loved it Jake: I love it It was yeah, he has not removed all the emotion when he was in the in the interview stuff I I like him. I think that I want to see them actually practice what they preach which is on to the next game And if there is jet lag from going to the Patriots and then go into this game and we start off slow and we don't start like kicking, I just want to see his team come out and just play lights out football, which we have the ability to do, but play it after a huge loss. That's what I'm looking forward to. All right. Jake, Justin, Jets, Jet Kingdom, Jet Nation, Jet Place, Jet House. We'll be back next week. Maybe Justin's got a lot of stuff to do next week. So we'll see. Yeah, I'm gonna do my best We'll see and other than that. Oh the New York Marathon this weekend. Yeah, enjoy that. We're back As always let's go
