19 Jake: Welcome to JetCame podcast, the longest running New York Jets podcast, period. I'm Jake, joining me... 241 times in a row for the post draft dream day where we all are so excited about the draft and then like six months from now we're like what the fuck but right now everything is good. Justin, Justin I do it today. I'm gonna sack the fuck out of you. First of all we need to get to the breaking news. Late breaking news? Cheers gonna cheat. Have you read on it? Justin: You know what I've decided to do on this whole situation? Jake: It's the same one where you're not gonna mention it. Justin: You did this before too. I didn't do any of this. Hey, you did. Here's what I'm gonna... I assume, I can only assume, we're talking about the Patriots here. The flake gate. The flake gate has reared its ugly head again. And they did a little study and the papers are out. And they cheated. And cheated purposely? All likelihood cheated throughout the 2014 season. The whole season. And that multiple people in the organization, including Tom Brady, knew about it. Although they haven't got it off the bill yet, but yes. And apparently, they're thinking about maybe suspending Tom Brady. Apparently, the Jack game, that Thursday night game, was a big one. Really? Yeah, apparently that was like the breaking point. Brady was complaining to the guy who's responsible for the balls. Right. That they felt like rocks to him. And that after that game, they went back at the practice scene and was like, OK, and they figured out how he liked it. Right. Because he didn't I mean while he threw for three touchdowns He didn't actually play all that great against us that game I like that he can throw with you guys that and not play that great. How's our fault? So Gonna happen this year. Well, I'm sorry. Here's my take on this. She's my hot take hot take. Oh, yeah My Stephen A Smith hot take no don't compare yourself to Stephen A Smith. That's terrible. Go ahead. You're Stephen A Smith fine You're the other Doofus oh, what's his dipshit name? I can't remember. Okay. He's an idiot to see a Smith and Skinny white dude No, not racist it is it's not yeah Uh, yeah, deflicki- oh so I don't care. Whatever. Honestly, like, so what? You say Tom Brady's not good cuz he can't throw a ball that's like a little bit tiny heavier or what have you. Not good because they can review other people's defenses and put in a plan to stop them. No, the whole point is that this team was and time again.
14 Jake: Look at the new rules where they can't do what they did against against Baltimore with the what they did was legal Justin: It was legal. So that's not cheating. That's called doing something legal or it's called a loophole because it's not a Rule then how if it was the rule then why didn't they leave it? Sometimes the no fun league changes things that are fun a little bit fun about that. It was just a loophole It was a nice quirk on a play on a rule that hasn't been changed in forever probably someone found the loophole It's not a loophole. It's playing by the rules. No, sorry, dude. No, that's how it's done It's like going an accountant and writing off your you know, your subscription monthly to do with that because that's stupid This was a you must Line five guys up on the line of scrimmage and someone has to cover this person Jake: If someone has to cover that person and that's that if it was a real rule and should have stayed they wouldn't have changed it Justin: No Yeah, it's anyway that way forever if nobody actually went and got creative about it, then they wouldn't ask It asterisk asterisk. I really don't care. He's gonna have an ass don't care. He will not love. Oh, yeah, he will He won't! Suspended. Alright, so let's talk about- He's not gonna even get suspended, that's dumb. The problem is he won't be suspended long enough for us to play him. He's not even gonna get suspended. Huh? I will bet you. Jake: No, no, no, I'm just gonna let you sound stupid later. Nah. Why don't we bet? Because breaking news is he He can't tell us! I can't. You're lying. Alright, let's talk about the draft now. Well wait. They're talking about the suspending of those things. Warmer Bello-check. just him just they can't they can't tie it there's nothing that if Bill checks it's like the godfather like the master yeah you can't go in and say if he said make the balls deflate them then you know then he can trouble But it's just Timmy. Make the balls as sagging abund, saggy balls, saggy, saggy balls. And the name of this podcast. I'm going to go put this hoodie back on. I'm going to go teabag somebody with my saggy balls. And we just lost four listeners. Justin: All the listeners we had are now, oh, god. They're like, I thought this was a gents podcast. They just talked about teabagging. soon. SAGGY BALLS! SAGGY BALLS! Alright anyway, Schweddy Balls. Alright let's move along. Let's talk about the draft. So we had a draft. Let's talk about... Can we just... can we just... hold on... Can we rename Mike... Macagnan to Mac? Mac the Knife. Mac the Knife? Not bad. That's it. Okay. He's Mac than I mean, it's been it's not like a famous song so he's Mac the knife
00 Justin: he I Want to grade him before I grade the no, no, let's talk about on a drain him before I trade grade the dryer I'm gonna trade him. I'm gonna trade him. Is that like a dreidel? It's like duck buttering Duck butter is back. It just made a return terrible This time it's good duck butter. It's bad cast. It's bad cast. So let's talk about the draft itself overall and then we'll get into the jets. Okay, so Jake: Boring. Did you watch any of it? Oh yeah we watched it. Boring. It was pretty boring. Boring. What was your biggest surprise? Justin: Boring. There were no surprises in this draft. I thought Marijota going too is a surprise. Not a surprise. I just didn't see them wanting to grab. I was also a big surprise that there were no big trades in the top. That's just called boringness. It was boring. Running back when in the first round, for the first time in three years? Two of them. Yep. Whatever. Only on masses quarterbacks taken an entire draft tiny number probably only zero be getting good Zero be any good zero my bet Over under on good quarterbacks in this draft point five one is on our team and then Jake: The only other thing that was interesting the other two interesting points was first time that both didn't show you don't think that's a big deal Justin: No, but did you hear about the little controversy about the beats? The beats controversy. Yeah that they should have been wearing bows or something No so NFL players can't wear bows on camera because Jake: Beats on camera because NFL has a contract with bows So there have been players been fine, $15,000 for wearing them pregame or whatever. Justin: These guys aren't really NFL players yet, are they? Guess what? They aren't. Jake: They aren't NFL players. Justin: Even after they're drafted, they're not NFL players. No, they signed contracts. So Beats went to them and said, here's the deal. You put in our Beats, you know, Jake: the one I have. I owe you lots of money not to go somewhere. And that's how you answer your phone. So there's no more holding up the phone and talking because that's the big moment, right? It's like, oh yes, yes, I'm going to be on team. Hello, sir. They did it on things and both of them had them on. Sure. I think that's kind of cool. Justin: That is a nice little like, not really a controversy. It's a controversy because they're getting around a huge, huge mega contract that... Good for them. Jake: Yeah, kind of. And they got made money. I mean, they made money for it. They got paid by the vendor to do it. Yeah. Justin: Which is actually Apple now, which is kind of funny, but whatever. Alright, so... And then boring draft boring boring boring boring boring No, oh hello. I'm a big fella in a suit Let me say a name and he will come out in a suit and he will be bigger than me and we will shake hands and hug But then what are you expecting boring? Not something you need to watch It is I'm pretty certain that you can just follow it on Twitter and be just as excited Get the alerts. Yeah, like there's no reason to actually watch it. Melchyper adds nothing
03 Justin: At this point boomers like a corpse on the screen. You were just going full neg here Did you not get your duck butter this morning? Have my green vibrance. Yeah, you did So no big surprise. All right, so let's get to the jet draft. Let's do that Let's do that. So, what we're gonna do is we're gonna grade every pick from our six picks. Jake: Yeah. And then our surprise trading, whatever. Although, I don't know all the trades ups and downs, so maybe you remember all of them up and downs, because we did, we traded back and then we traded up. We did do a back and up. I remember the back. I remember what we got for the back. I don't remember the up. The up. Back allowed us to go up. Up to get Bryce. Thanks. And that's not spelled right. All right, so let's talk about it. So first we had the sixth pick. There was a lot of talk of this trading out, trading in, trading up. Nothing happened, but the number one rated player on the board and the only position that we probably don't need any help with landed in our lap. And so we picked. Justin: Giving you that Bill's it. Oh Leonard Williams. Yeah. What do you say how exciting that was? Yeah, that's how exciting the draft was We were both surprised No, neither of us thought he was gonna go except he was the number everybody just kept saying he's the number one guy Like right how can you keep falling kind of made no sense that so this is to me Why the NFL draft makes no sense? Why well? I get, okay, I get Tampa and I get Tennessee. Makes sense. These are picking quarterbacks because it's the most important position. And they don't have them. And they don't have them. What I do not understand though is how... after those two teams pick then Jacksonville Oakland and Washington don't just pick the best player because quarterbacks are gone right I mean okay the Raiders wanted a wide receiver so they picked it A wide receiver. The best one that they thought. But Jacksonville with pick three picked a defensive end. Right? so Because their body types are slightly different They didn't pick by all accounts the better player right and if you're in the bottom If you're in the first 10 picks, shouldn't you just pick the best player? Don't you just need a lot of things? No, not necessarily. No, it's just an accident that you ended up with the third pick overall. There are teams that Jake: Happenstance no, there are that bad their teams are perennial in the top five like Jacksonville Jacksonville Raiders You know, I think Falcons are up there last year they terrible two years ago They were doing their Falcons and right and the Buccaneers are almost always up in the top
01 Justin: Shouldn't you just pick best players? Well, you should pick the player that that that is going to help your team win more games the box have picked Just as many quarterbacks as the Jets have picked in the draft since 2009. Yeah That's not good Now they've done a number one overall. At least we've never I mean, we've never been in that position We've never been that bad. Well, you have been that bad, but not that bad Not one win bad or two win bad and one win bad Have a 1-15 season. Well yeah, but not like in recent. No, not recently. Alright, so give me a grade. What do you think? What do you think about the player? You watch the videos now, you see him, he's crazy. I've actually seen, you know, I've actually watched him in college. I saw him and I saw him pre-injury senior year and then... a game that he played post injury like they weren't sure if he was gonna play right I remember now more vividly than then like it was a huge deal whether he was playing or not right like you just like oh my god Leonard Williams might not play and that could change the whole game of course and it was amazing it was It was truly truly amazing that he was like this defensive end and it was going to change the whole game, right? so I Feel like this is a good good to great pick for a couple of reasons number one Best player available. That was the credo going in. Right. And stick to your guns and do it. And this by the way, this was the only time you'd say BPA. Every time, the other time he didn't, there were actually better players available, but then he went for needs. So this, this one, because it was so high and because it was such it was the top three on their board, he was the actual best player available in the draft. Jake: by everybody's ranking wasn't even a not it was pretty much everybody said the same so it was just like okay we have to take him so what do you give give a grade Justin: um this is my second reason sorry was was that he his pre-draft comp was mo wilkerson right Which is crazy to think now that he could just replay he could be his replacement right? We don't want Mohammed Wilkerson to leave no, but from a fan of laundry which I am I feel like this gives us leverage to say to Mo We would like we would love to extend you here's our offer. Here's your replacement Yeah, you're here for this year, you're under contract. Let's see what this guy can tag him next year. Can tag him next year, but it gives us long term flexibility. Yes. If Mo is like, I'm worth 15 million a year and you're like, yeah, you've kind of you're kind of really good, but you're not. And this guy, what would have been amazed by hearing about Jake: under Williams a lot was his.
01 Jake: Most people were saying, while he was so good and ranked so high and all that, they were saying he's not even where he could be. I mean, one of them was like, he's half of the player he could be. So this guy could be, they're talking about him being an equal of Moham Wilkerson, he could be better than Moham Wilkerson. I give it an A- just because it was the only position that you're just like, But so I give the little the little minus on that you're giving me an A. So let's move to number two. Second pick again didn't move. This is the second time we didn't make pick round two started up the next day. And up comes the speedy Devin Smith Ohio State wide receiver. Who? Everything I've heard about him is just he you know I if he drank every time I heard the expression was the expression he What takes the top off the defense? Oh, he takes the top off. This is in our Justin: in our pre draft Pod last week, right? I went receiver round one pass rusher round two. Right. This just sort of flipped for me and we didn't trade up to get this guy right. This guy and we didn't trade back this was where we picked five. The Giants traded up to the top of the second round to pick who they picked. So This guy smells a lot like. Stephen Hill to me, really? Just smells of it like, oh, he's really fast. The only thing I say, I will say that I that I don't know him from a hole in the head. I know I've watched him play, but I can't remember him. Right. Because he played it Ohio State and I watched them, you know, the last, you know, through the championship and everything. But. The numbers on him are interesting. It's like when he caught a touchdown in college, they never lost. He also says average catch was like 23.5 yards. It was 28 or something. Jake: His comparison though, I like the NFL comparison, was hopefully without the attitude, is Deshaun Jackson. If you think about a player who can change a game, like just with speed, Justin: yes, they're saying he's good. He's not a big route runner. No. But the other thing they said, great hands. Jake: And again, the thing that I keep saying was he has unbelievable ability to track the ball. So he's great at the long ball because he can track it no matter where it is. Long is good. That's good. Justin: I like it. I like it because I feel like Curly is definitely a slot receiver. He's an inside guy. And we have two outside guys with Marshall and and Decker, but Marshall is extremely versatile. He is a big dude who can play over the middle, too.
00 Justin: But neither one of those three is just going to go cook. No, I want a guy to go cook. The Santana. Jake: Who? Moss. When was that guy? Santana, Moss. Justin: And I'm going to go ahead and just grade this as like a B minus and a wait and see. Not a terrible pick. I imagine this will be like a we're not going to see. We'll see maybe some flashes, right? We'll see in the preseason, maybe what he can do. Right. But Pat returns, I think I have no idea if he can do it. But this is a guy who will see if he can do anything but run in a straight line. Right. If all you can do is run in a straight line, he's just a decoy. Right. But he can catch we know this Yeah, but can he do stuff that can get him open in the NFL outside of running past somebody right if Dorell Reavis is covering this guy for example We know he's not probably as fast as this guy, but he jams him at the line He's not even he's the whole things disrupted right well good thing is he He might have to, you know, if there's a good corner out there who's not gonna hem you up and you just try and run past Them they're generally gonna keep up with you. This I think is a is a good pick also for Jake: For our quarterback core if we're talking while we're gonna get to our quarterback out of the quarterback and on the roster now all four of them But if one thing that Gino can do he has a good arm and he can whip it. And this is like, I remember there was times when we were watching games last year and you were like, just throw the fucking ball down the field. Just try it. Because remember we have the, it's the 33% chance. If you whip it down the field, it's a touchdown. It's a pass interference. Pass interference for a interception. 33% of the time. So just whip it. So I kind of, I like having the speed on. on. Where he's picked, I don't know. It seems a little high, because I feel like I could see the other guys, but it seems a good pick. All right, now round three, this is the one that we traded down with Houston. Justin: Right. Right? This is the craziest trade ever. We traded down six spots. The Cagner did a great job. I think it was 12 spots. Oh, he trade waved him. He did. He traded down, I think eight or 12 spots, whatever it was, in the third. Yeah. Well, I can go. I can make sense here. We probably this is a period out. I picked six. He's six. That's 12 Right. So he trades down like 12 spots And you figure like you'd get like a pick and he ends up with three picks and a player He just and a guy who he clearly liked because it was with Houston. So he's there right? He's doing the college scouting thing. You gotta imagine that this was just like throwing whoever Well it was like I want that guy to move down 12 spots. So this is this draft at the end of the day we netted three receivers in this draft. We'll get to that in a minute. So the pick was Lorenzo Malden.
01 Justin: Malden. I don't know anything about Lorenzo. He's from a football perspective. He's I've read some stuff about his big boy life and how he has had some serious trials and tribulations. And I like guys who are hungry like that. And this is an outside rusher. This is like an outside linebacker rush the passer. I'm just gonna go ahead and give it a C plus for the player because I have no clue So this is a wait and see for me Jake: It's more of a C for me. I'm not I'm not blown away. It didn't I Feel like it's it's yeah, I don't know. There's nothing there's nothing exciting to me about it It's it's one of the ones like oh they got a guy Justin: But these are also the guys who you could see not you just they're never even this is a special team sky for sure Oh, I just saw you're great on the next one. Yeah, you did I'm gonna have to go the opposite then that's dumb No, one of us is gonna look stupid on this one. So round four. This was a trade up right to pick Bryce Petty quarterback out of Baylor. They are quarterback. So I'm upset because they didn't pick your guy. I would have heard there. They were both there. Yeah. And clearly since they traded up, they traded up to get him. Right. I think that they were worried about. Let's see who picked right behind them. I think it was Jacksonville. Uh, I think what they were worried about was that was that. Either Jacksonville they pick them or yes, right Yeah, cuz they were afraid red someone else was trying to get I had to Jackson I rode with Jacksonville to pick petty right so they might have you will be there one pick later. They say hey, right so Right, they say hey, Jacksonville. Let's just swap swap or some give you whatever or whatever peanuts I mean the guys below Redskins Bears Falcons. I think what they were worried about was a team hopping Ahead of them way down who really needed a quarterback or wanted petty or wanted them and the Jets clearly wanted petty yet In the fourth round at that point. I Don't know to me. I just have lived through two years of a guy who? ran nothing even close to resembling a professional offense right and it hasn't worked out but then there's not very many quarterbacks that come into the league that run these college right gadget offenses that can actually run Jake: real offenses in the NFL but it's a numbers game the quarterback thing is a Justin: numbers game look at your favorite team and your favorite quarterback The New York Jets and Gino Smith. No, it's it's it's sorry. It's Wilson in Seattle. Damn right, Russ. Jake: And they picked and they went through four quarterbacks over four years.
02 Justin: Yeah, but Russ, but Russ ran a real deals offense. Jake: But they just and they got him the fourth round. Third, third round. Because he was short. They just kept going. And only because he was short. They had white hearse. They had... Um, they got that other clown in there. They just kept going until they found their guy. Here's what you do. Cause it's a four-throb pick. Justin: Well, I'm upset about this. Cause to me they... Because you wanted Hunley. That's right. But Hunley would be the same thing. Yeah, but I... that's my preference. You wanted Hunley. I would have preferred they picked him. Hunley went to Green Bay, where he will not play. And that's good for him cause he'll sit there for three years and really learn behind the best. Jake: There's many quarterbacks out there who go and sit and then just turn into nothing. I'm a chance to start Justin: I'm giving this a D. This was to me I feel like they didn't need to trade up the pick and they could have picked whomever they wanted and it didn't have to Be a quarterback. Well, this just puts undue pressure on everyone I don't think there's nothing to do because no one expects this guy to do anything. I hope to god that that doesn't start happening. That when push comes to shove and someone has to be benched that is one of the other two that the only way- Geno's starting and they- Need to bench him that it's Fitz and I know Fitz is no great shakes But I do not want to see this kid on the field the only way see this kid on the field this year Is everyone gets hurt? No, if we're just losing. Oh, we're terrible terrible. That That's not gonna happen. Well, I agree. So to me this isn't the guy who we're seeing this year. This is a hey Jake: Gino is on his third year. He's on a four-year contract with a one-year kicker only Justin: You got to keep picking them. It's kind of funny cuz and the next year but you have another one the quarterback that they I Mean with this Leonard Williams pick I Don't see how we're not the best defense in the league Right, but you don't see it unless Gino Smith throws three cuz I'm well I mean, I know Rex is gonna have the best defense in league in Buffalo. He'll tell you Oh, yeah, he'll tell you they're the best defense league, but we'll be the second best defense See me, see me getting over rex and like making fun of him a little bit? You see how that just works? I'll get a fucking snack. So you get us a B plus because you're a moron. Jake: No, because I think it's a need. Yeah, you like his jaw. Justin: And how they laugh at people how they laugh at people like when they said oh this ball player Good shape of his jaws got a good shape good shape. They'd laugh at that like fuck does that mean? Yeah, yeah, that's what you did. No, that's right. I like this guy Jake: I laugh at you and he's and he's the kind of louder back general that I the size of the quarterback He's a big dude six three two thirty that's the that's an info quarterback nowadays these big dudes who can move a little bit
03 Jake: check the ball um and he was fun like watching him i i like his personality he wasn't the number one guy i watched of all of them that i liked but i didn't look at his tape and go i mean we both interview with Q. And we both said, I'm a teen. Don't want him. He doesn't think he's falling asleep. Justin: Totally. Jake: And the other guy is not even playing a season. He's gonna get caught. I mean, and then Winston comes out and takes an Instagram picture of him serving crab legs. You're like, are you the biggest moron on the planet? You're being investigated five ways from... Why don't you just come out with a t-shirt that says, I don't rape, or... I don't steal or something. Yeah, that's a good one. Don't play up the fact that you've been, never mind. It's just dumb. Idiot. So I don't think that'll be this guy. The other thing that's cool about this, you know his story? Who, Petty? Yeah. That he waited behind And then one other guy. Justin: Oh, yeah, there must have been a guy in between us this guy started as a freshman and and So what they're saying about him is that he has the patience to wait. He's not like I have to get this now He knows that position he's done it before and he's been successful Well he wouldn't have been behind RG3. He played with RG3 but he didn't play well. He did, he did. Jake: Because he talked about it. Justin: But this is RG3's fourth year in the NFL. Yeah, he went in as like a... Must have meant that he was a redshirt freshman or something Jake: We didn't play with him, but he was on the team with him Because he talked to him because he said oh, Artie Thieb would tell me this and that But then he then waited behind Artie and then he waited behind the next guy So I like that I like that he's cuz you know what he's gonna do on our team Wait, let's move on. Does Matt Sims even make the team? Probably not. No, okay. Justin: He's gone. Well, you don't draft a guy in the quarterback in the fourth round and then not. Alright, unless you're the Raiders. I think they did that one. Jake: So now we get into basically the BFGs. Justin: Big fat guys. So this was around 5, which we didn't have when the draft started. Because we did not have a 5 and we did not have a 6. Right. So... Which is kind of cool. The Jets went into the draft with six picks and came out of the draft with six players plus the two guys that they traded picks for. So kind of eight players. Jake: Right. So that's kind of eight players to come out of the draft with. Justin: kind of cool. Well, what happened in this last thing? We'll talk about after these. I love this pick. I don't know this guy should be good. I don't know this guy from a hole in the wall, but Texas A&M lineman generally pretty good. Generally pretty big, generally pretty athletic. I think last year's number one overall pick or one of the top, sorry, not number one overall, but one of the top five was a Texas A&M tackle. I think another Texas A&M guy got picked this year in top of the draft.
02 Justin: So Jarvis Harrison, he's a guard in college. I like it. Give it a B plus. He probably has a year to sit behind, you know, some of the vets and also potentially make a run at it in training camp and maybe Willie Cologne's not on this team because there's a lot of young guards on this team. Right. And that's great. That's great. Need the depth and like you said the line's getting a little older. So here's a guard to slide in and replace. Yeah. So B plus I don't I don't I just like the pedigree of Texas A&M is all I'm doing this C plus because I have no idea. But then I like big fat guy. Dion Simon is it Simon or Simeon? Simeon? Simeon? Simeon. Simmin? Simmin? Anyway, whatever. He's a nose tackle. We lost Ellis. This is this guy probably won't make the team. That's my guess I'm gonna give it a C just cuz he's a big fat guy and I like big fat guys All right And then we made the greatest this might be this should go down in history as one of the greatest Draft things ever to happen Jake: Not even that these two are the obviously it's not gonna be a steal obviously that was years ago I think you are I think you have a Justin: I'm not gonna guess but Of what you have I think you think one of these players is better than he actually is no Jake: I think that anytime you can take one pick and take two and starting nfl people Well, not get them on you starting nfl people Justin: Two is well, not two, because only one was a starter last year. I feel on our team that these both these people will start. I do not. I disagree wholeheartedly. You don't think Brandon Marshall is going to start? That is not the guy I'm talking about. All right. But let's talk about the history. We this is the one where we got a what was it? We got the seventh back. We traded with the Bears. We gave them our seven. They gave us back a seven. They gave us Brandon Marshall and a seven. And, we used that seven. And, we used that seven. We're our seven. One or the other. No, it was that seven. We used that seven to get Zach Stacy. Trade with, today with the Rams. Zach Stacy. Because they... You should pick a guy every year because I feel like he's better up then but he's not that good cuz he lost his job On the Rams. Okay lost his job last year to another rookie Then lost the any he got no carries like if you go back and look at the Rams
00 Justin: They had that guy from Florida State Who is the rookie who Mike whose name I can't remember it at the moment They also have Benny Cunningham and like Zach Stacy towards the end of the year the last like five six seven games Just wasn't even playing Zero carries. So this is not a like a coup or as Izzik would call it or some sort of boon I feel like they could have just picked a running back in the seventh round instead of trading for Zach Stacy But he's a starter. He's not a starter. He didn't play. No, he started for an NFL team He started on an NFL team and lost his job, which means he was a benched starter. Fine. He's Mark Sanchez starter Trey Mason was the guy who you're thinking about. Yeah, but he's five eight. He's 24 years old. Sure. I could have drafted a 22 year old. I just think this isn't as much of a thing as he'll be our number two. No, he won't. Yep. I do not see it. OK, that's our bet. The only way that he's put it on the board. The only way that he's even number three is if Ridley can't make it back from his knee. Ridley, we don't. Yeah, he's a crapshoot because. Ivory's one and then Ridley Paola two three. I don't think so No, not a chance. He's just depth. He's just depth. Okay Oh, we have it here on the podcast and we'll talk about it later We'll talk about in the preseason when we see what actually happens when he's playing in game four When he's on the bench and when he's on the bench start your game for all right, so that leaves us with So you gave this the double trade we both gave it an A plus. Yeah, I mean I I do feel like Marshall for that Marshall and Stacy for a fifth round pick Seems pretty good seems a pretty good pick seems for a good deal seems like some good and doesn't like this GM knows what he's doing The and,, If I went I should have gone back and listened to our draft grades from two years ago Well, I know I was not pleased last year last year. No, but the first year with idzic I think we were kind of like well that definitely happy about I I feel like the first year when we When we drafted milliner Richardson and then got Gino in the sack we were very happy, right? We were happy about the whole situation now I didn't know that Richardson was gonna be the best of the bunch right we thought oh Milner sounds great replace Revas a little bit with the first round corner. This guy must be pretty decent Right. He was an SEC all defensive player. So okay, we're happy and then a guy who was supposed to go in the first round was just dropped potentially even a top five pig, right? Drops to the second. Rightfully, so now we know what he dropped. Jake: Well, this is what Marijota like, Marijota could have gone to. Justin: Yeah, all of them. It's such a crapshoot. I can't think I was trying to rack my brain. I was like, who's the last sure thing quarterback in the draft?
02 Justin: It was Andrew Luck. Yes. And then before that. It was hard for me to even, I think it was like Matt Ryan. I was trying to go back and think like who's gonna really be good. Jake: Well hindsight or what they were saying in the draft. I remember Brady Quinn was the one that like everybody was so surprised he kept dropping because he was so good and he was so good and I was like but he kept dropping and dropping and he ended up being nothing. That was the one I just remember everybody talking about like Brady Quinn Brady Quinn Brady Quinn and it's just like he just kept Justin: I don't go back in like, you know, dear Sanchez was drafted. It was Stafford was one overall, right and he's been About that above average and not a winner though Not a winner he's been a consistently better than Sanchez made the playoffs one. Yeah, that's true and lost And has Calvin Johnson by the way the whole career right Tony Romo Jake: I'm just saying like Tony's like a Tony Romo like he's good in the regular season to get to the playoffs or get close Justin: Great stats, but I don't know whatever I guess you keep going backwards and you get to like, you know flacko and Matt Ryan They weren't one too like Ryan was like four or five. I well that was the year UI rivers and Rolfesberger and you knew all three of them were gonna be pretty darn good Jake: I'm going to act draft history by position Oh QB round one Filter QB round do it. I'm doing it 2000 do it now. Where do you want? What year do you want me start? 2009 Justin: I think I can think back that far. So it was 2005 2005. All right, here we go 2005 first pick overall Alex Smith Jake: Aaron Rodgers dropped to 24. That was the surprise one Jason Campbell Yeah, Tolly Fry Andrew, Walter David. These are the first round. These are not all no, that's their first first rounds Smith Rogers Justin: I'm not there some like outlier down in the round somewhere Probably not. Ryan Fitzpatrick seventh round. There you go. 250. There you go. He was six away from me. Good pick. He started quite a few NFL games. All right. 2006, number one pick Vince Young. Liner. He went first? Yeah. Oh sorry, three. He's in my win. He went first. And then Jay Cutler. So Vince. Vinciyiner, Layner, Cutler. Jake: Cutler is definitely the best of the three. Well, I'll tell you the best pick of the draft, round two. You know, Jets took Kill'em Clemens. Good pick? Yeah, good pick. Anybody else on here? Justin: Still in the league on my Vinciyong and Matt Leinert. By the way, 2007, number one overall, Jamarcus Russell, bust. One of the biggest busts ever. Jake: Brady Quinn, 22. And that was it. Anybody else in here?
01 Jake: Busted. I mean, number 217, Tyra Thigpen still in the NFL. Is it on, is it on the bills? I don't think so. Oh, okay. 2008, Matt Ryan, number three, Joe Flacco, 18. And that's it. And then out of here you got Matt Flynn at 209. It's not terrible. Yeah, okay. What about that? 2009, Stafford number one overall, number five. Sanchie. Sanchie. And Freeman. And then dropping down. Almost nobody. I mean Curtis Painter 201. Yeah garbage garbage Justin: We should be looking at fourth round like does anybody from fourth round ever actually start no It's not true 2010. They don't Sam Bradford Tim Tebow. Yes, there's Sam Bradford like pick one overall Not a sure thing. Jake: I'm walking down here. I'm kind of an ex-dact-a-bates. Anybody stand out. Doo doo doo doo. Zach Robertson in the last Cougar back. And then 2011 you got Cam Newton number one overall. This is the four in the first round. Jake Walker, Blaine Gaver, Christian Ponder, Colin Kaepernick in two. and Greg McElroy near Jets. Number seven, the seventh round. There you go. 2012, Luck, Griffin, Tannehill, and Weeden. That's basically there's not. And then Russell Wilson folds. Now you have people who are actually still starting. And 13, EJ Manuel was the only guy, Gino Smith, second round. And anybody in there? Nope. Now we have our year. Oh, and then last year, break, break Wardles, Johnny Manziel. Justin: No, no, sure. No shirt things there except I think Bridgewater is going to end up being. Good. Uh, halfway decent quarterback. And again, in the sixth round we picked Taj Boyd, which now makes me angry. I'm like, should have made you angry then. I don't know why that took you so long. I don't know. It makes me angry that we, any idiot picked 12 guys. Oh, come on. What kind of team picks 12 guys give me overall. I wrote it tonight. No, he didn't I Didn't know did you put out before you know B plus baby B plus. All right. Yeah, I said Big Mac Jake: I just can't I can't think of some first round pick and Justin: the trading and just moving around and just How about just not sitting on your hands and being a little active right like you a little bit of Tana Hill? But Dan Hill Tannenbaum and bomb the fucking works just read it to say you are no for work I'm the best. a the worst and Your name, I don't even care if you remember my name listen Do you know when you remember my name when you duck butter on your face? That's when you remember my, and and the scene. and scene okay
13 Justin: the Jake: I have to repurchase your register. Oh, you're an idiot. I have stuff to reap. No, no Justin: I kept it when he went to the box I Idiot got rid of it when he went to the Patriots idiot. I now have to go purchase another I have it I still have mine. It's gonna be like I might have my selling jerseys. I bet you yeah Even though people definitely already had you know, it's nice It's the guys in China still have the print like they still have the ability that we can do But he wasn't a Nike He wasn't a Nike yet, right? You have to get the new one. You have to get the new one. Right. They don't do the Nike ones as good as they did the old ones. Yeah, they used to do them better. Yeah. And they... The Nike's really hard. They like fake sew. It's like... It's terrible. It's like, so bad. Jake: And they're so odd. Like, you can get from the same guy, you can get like a good one. A really good one. Justin: And a terrible one. And then you can get like... Richardson that's really on a Packers jersey Like an Eagles jersey, it's like an Eagles Vic jersey. They just pulled the eagle off and put a jet logo on Awesome are the Jets ever gonna freakin go back to the Titans? You know uniform I can't decide what I've done it in like two three years I can't decide whether I did enjoy it or not. I really enjoyed it. It's just the blues I love it. I wish they had I wish their throwback wasn't blue you want that like 80s puke green sure that late 70s 80s one there you go Just keep it green that one's just so ugly gang green you can't be you'd all about green You can't go back and say here's our blue shirt Packers wear that blue thing once a year There's even though there's a pretty ugly Steelers where that's super ugly thing that that's so off It's absolutely need to do we need a really ugly like a super ugly ugly one Like, like polka dots. Like, ugly uniform day. Yeah. And we just wear these super ugly, like, sacks. With, like, crisscrosses. They're like brown and shit color. They're just gross. Alright, so you're gonna be plus. And we have now entered the zone where we should just stop. Alright, we're stopping. Alright. So, what's the big, like, upcoming for us right now? So we're now in minicamps. Rookie camp. This week? Next week? Is it this week? Okay, so this week, next week, probably we won't be by next week. We have some voluntary stuff going on. Couple weeks we'll be back. Yeah, next week we won't be. Yeah, we're traveling. We're out of here. Jake: We're not going to be around. We still have to figure out how we're going to podcast in London. From London? From London. I don't think we have to. Justin: We have to. Thank you.
00 Jake: from a pub. Jolly good. And we have to get and the whole time we have to do a fake English accent. Justin: Oh I'm gonna get some of our fans that live there to just show up wherever we're doing this because it's I think it I feel like it needs to be. You can just enjoy from London. I feel like it needs to be more communal than just us. Oh with beers and the whole thing. Beers. Beers. Like total beer in a pub. What's the big beer in London? Like what's the beer? I know they have so many but what's the like Budweiser? Like not that I want to drink the Budweiser. Guinness? Guinness? I don't know. What's the... I don't know. Bodington's? Maybe. Why? What do you care? I want to figure out like- like what I should have like you should- Definitely have one of these and then you should just go over here and have this stuff Oh like this tavern only serves this cuz it's there Jake: Well, you should go to some of the nice there's some breweries in London that are really awesome Samuel Smith Yeah, that one Oh, no, Sammy Smith's up But uh, you know castles up right other Smith is in London Justin: Anyway, we'll talk about that later and we'll be back couple weeks and just some of that stuff you Brits.
