20 Jake: Welcome to Jet Kingdom podcast, longest. Longest running New York Jets podcast. Period. I'm Jake, joining me 264 times in a row in what I 10th season... Really? We started in 2007., thought we discussed this and it was 9. Right, we did 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016. Wow. This is our 10th season. It's our third coach. We... it's our regime's... the regimes keep changing, but we're still here. And for that we bought two new travel mics. So we're podcasting from the Nott studio. We have two new mics. And we hope they sound better than last week's mics. Justin: Yeah. Yeah. Well last week. Yeah. Well last week. One mic. One mic. One mic. One. One mic. This is two. Huddling around a mic. We're in a huddle. Jake was calling the plays. I was. I was executing them. You were. Perfection. Perfection. All right, we got a lot of talks. I was like Jimmy Garoppolo Jake: out there. And the game is kicking off in like three hours, so we got to get this podcast out there. We have to get this out so people might listen as a pre-gamer. As a pre-game. Pre-game podcast. Yeah. All right. So we're gonna pick it, and by the time you hear it, it'll be over probably. Maybe. So you'll know that the Jets won. Alright, so let's first start with last week's game. Let's. And I will say I'm not upset. That's good. Because, but there's only one reason. It's only because it's the first week and I, because we have that weird, we picked the season and we picked the game. Right. So in that same, within. 30 minutes of each other, I picked them both to win and lose the same game. Justin: Yeah, but that's like not like, that's not a good reason for you to not be upset. Jake: Well, it is because I didn't think they were because I picked it right. Justin: Not that's right. But that's some jake of you. Jake: But I but I think I still have I still fit. The point is I didn't pick them to go one in 15. I picked them to go. Justin: like 9 and 7 and I still had them losing this game. Yeah so I was upset walking out of the stadium I was pissed because I thought we threw one away. We did. And I look back I didn't watch it on TV I usually try but I haven't yet I haven't yet watched it on TV to get like a different perspective. But it felt again like a few things. One, I don't think that we played our best game, and we should have won anyway.
03 Justin: Secondly, a few of our players who are some of our better players did not play well at all. And we were right there. And I feel like Cincinnati is like a good team. So we played equal with a team that is supposed to make the, like predicted to make the playoffs. And there were some plays here and there that could have went one way or the other and they went the wrong way. And That's just it. We lost by a point or whatever we lost by. Jake: We lost by a point and we lost by, you know, lost by an extra point that, well, if we wouldn't have won, we would have tied it. But we lost by the ability to win the game. I totally agree. I actually thought there were more positives. Again, one of the things that I said going into this game was... I'm concerned about Fitz being rusty and that him and Marshall haven't really had an off-season. Marshall barely played in any preseason games. It's kind of like barely. Like you've been playing game three. So I just the dress rehearsal. Right. And even the other ones, it was what one or two drives a quarter. It's like nothing. Right. And then Fitz didn't practice until two days before training camp or the day before training camp or whatever. So the point is, I feel like there's gonna be a rusty part to our beginning of the season and you saw it. You saw Marshall dropping balls, he should never drop. But the positive thing is I'm not worried about Marshall down the stretch. Like I'm not worried about him being a good player. He's a good player. What I saw was more of like, I saw some players, you know, that I didn't know were gonna be good doing some amazing stuff. And if ever those two, if everything like they all click, if that defensive front line clicks like it's going to, and then the secondary doesn't give up fucking huge ass plays, we're a dominating defense. If we have Quincy Numa and Jalen Marshall and Decker and Marshall and Brandon Marshall all clicking on the same page and with Matt Forte who looked good. So I mean I guess the point is I saw more positives than negatives and we lost by a fucking miss field goal or blocked field goal and a missed extra point. And it's like, you know, like, you know, Jalen Marshall didn't do a whole lot. Justin: Greatest ever. He is the next greatest thing. I know you love him. He drew like two penalties. That's it. He didn't catch the ball. He had a good kick return. Yeah. Which is good because the special teams were good, right? Our special teams were good. Jake: Yeah, except for the four points that lost the game except they didn't kick the field goal Justin: Which is very weird because Nick folk you wouldn't think would have an issue All right. I feel like we should I feel like we could do our fools and There's lots of fools in this game in my opinion. I
03 Justin: Mean we always pick fools when we when we lose and we pick nights when we win Well, let's do our who's impressed and who depressed. All right. Who impressed? Well, you know I love Quincy Nuna. Yes. He looks good. He looks like a real deals receiver. And slash tight end. Like, he's a good over the middle. He's fast. He plays special teams. He's the real deals. He can play. He's strong as shit. He's strong. He can play. His hands got better. He made a catch that. I don't know if he makes that catch last year. He's gotten better. Okay, he impressed for tae impressed me as the game got like, you know, I had to name like seven well It's too impressed. I'm gonna name three. Okay for tae impressed me as the game went on He got better They didn't even try to run the ball in the first half It seemed but then all of a sudden they went out and ran the ball like the whole drive And they just ran it right right down the field. Yep And Forte was a real weapon. He had 96 rushing yards, 4.4 average, pretty good. And he had 59 receiving yards. So he was a big part of the offense. And on defense, holy shit, Leonard Williams is unstoppable. He is what we thought he could be. Oh my god. If we have this lined up as a tackle and he's just moving guys around. He's like, get out of my way. I'm tackling the quarterback, get out of the way. I mean, they couldn't run. Jake: The Bengals run and they couldn't. They couldn't. You read draft last year. He's probably the third. Third, probably after the two run to quarterbacks. So I'll name a couple, maybe I'll do, you know, well I guess we're gonna name fools so we're each gonna name a fool and we could pick between two I think that are pretty much the fools. I have three fools. Justin: You can't have three fools. I have three fools. I think there are three players that really disappointed. Jake: All right, um, Impress on my side again. I'm a big, big Jalen Marshall fan. I like him out there. So stupid. No, it's not stupid. He's changing. Well, it's like, let me pick a guy who didn't to the ball. With those punt returns, that one that he broke about 17 tackles, people couldn't get him down. They kept thinking he was down and he just kept winning. I'm so happy you love this guy. Yes. Because when he's cut, he's not gonna be cut. Even when he took that one out and ran it back so long, I'm like, why are you taking that out? And of course he runs 60 yards of the field. Forte, I was worried about this dude. I thought, do you have it in you? Is he gonna be like one of these guys who just gets like three yards of carry? He was getting 10s, he was getting 9s. The screen passes to him. I mean he just What are you gonna do? How where are you gonna lie out to stop him and when he rolled out you're like this guy can catch the ball It's not it. It's a he really impressed. I
01 Jake: Guess we'll go to my who depressed. I Mean I get let's just go to fools. Let's go fools are the depressors. Yes, let's go. I think there's one Justin: really obvious And one's like the fool and one's really obvious, like depressing. The fool is folk because he basically left four points on the field and we lost by one. And who knows how the game goes? So that's the whole thing. Jake: But here's the thing. I, because I'm a professional, not a professional. I'm a huge fan. I rewatched the game in in the condensed version. So, you know, the 40 minute version. And I sat there as they missed the points, I just said, and I watched, I'm like, okay, so now we would be at this and they would have to do this. It changes that game so much. Yeah, the game changes a lot. A lot, because what we would have done at certain points wouldn't have given the ball back. So like, that's one thing. Okay, one more on the depressed side. And this is, again, this is the niggling feeling and we're gonna talk about this game coming up. Thanks for watching! When he had 43 seconds to go, and he only has to go down to get a field goal, when you talk about the top quarterbacks, they go down the field. Well, let's start about this. Justin: I know that Brandon Marshall dropped a ball. Yes, well he dropped the first ball, because it wasn't 43 seconds, it was 56, and I remember the kickoff was like, take a knee, great, take the knee. Right. First play, Brandon Marshall wide open hits him right in the hands drops it Brandon Marshall's at 50 right if he catches that ball you can do anything you want you can you want it twice literally need to gain like 15 yards to have a really damn good shot at a field goal and really if you get 12 you get 10 even you've got a shot at a field goal right he did all he could like that pass needed to be caught That was a good throw to the best receiver on the team. And he still don't have it. And it was wide open. It was a good play call. It was a good execution. And he dropped it. And that just took the wind out of the sails. If you would have caught that ball, we probably would have won the game. I'll say that right now at certainty. Absolutely. Because. Really, there's not a whole lot more that we needed to do. We could have even ran a draw play. That's what I'm saying. You know, we could we could have done anything at that point. So all right. The elephant in the room, the big one, the real rebus. The elephant, because that's how slow he is. He got beat badly by AJ Green, badly, badly. Again, I didn't rewatch it. I did. He got beat. Deep twice where he didn't find the ball, which doesn't happen often. I don't know what happened on the second one for the touchdown. Seemed like he thought there was someone else supposed to be there with him on the other side of him. Don't know. Is that would like to see is that scheme? Jake: Like, why wasn't he getting? Why wasn't that we talked about this before the game? We watched Reavis last year get crushed by fast fucking receivers these young fast guys. Yeah the young fast talk
07 Jake: I can jump right basically the new the new receiving core. Yeah, right the AJ Green's the Sammy Watkins listen this guy's Justin: They they have years years on him like he's got tires on tread on the tires I understand but then as a scheme like Jake: then don't put him on, don't put him on that guy. Like, have some help. Justin: Well, maybe he thought he had some help on that, particularly the touchdown. I know he had like 12 catches, so you can't like say like, well, if that one didn't happen, I mean, he had 180 yards. I mean, just. And a lot of it was on him. And it's some of them. And that sucks because it's like, man. It's the same player in the same number in the same uniform,, but it's not the same player. Jake: No, that guy has shut this guy down before. Like I think in the playoffs. Justin: We watched him play a bazooka seasons where it was. This guy doesn't touch a ball. You're not going to touch it. You might get a ball from three eyes. You're not touching the ball. Because it's one on one. But that's not happening. And we'll see tonight. If Sammy Watkins plays he's he's gonna play but he will not be you know Well, he beat the shit out of Rivas in week 17 of last year. Yes, he did Jake: So we'll see what happens. That's my concern is that the trend didn't change from last year this year last game of last year Riva's got beat all over this. It's the first game of this year. He gets beat again Justin: He's a nice little man, and I have a feeling that he will bounce back will he ever be what he was no Jake: But he's not good. I think what I'm concerned is that like his whole thing was he wasn't the fastest guy He wasn't the tallest guy, he's not the strongest guy. He was very smart, he played really good bump coverage, and he would get guys off the route, and then he could stick with them, and then he's smart. But he's still smart. Yeah, but if you can't keep up with him, it doesn't matter how smart you are. But he's still smart, right? Justin: So he's still, what he doesn't do, and what a lot of other corners have happened to Buster's screen. in. You don't see the flag come out against Rebus very often. No, because they're in the end zone. Well, no, I mean, come on. You don't often see him get called for pass interference or like penalties that really bother you. It's like, shit, a 40 yard penalty. Like a 40 yard penalty. You may as well launch yourself at the quarterback and try and kill him for 15 yards. You have a 40 yard penalty down the field. You don't often see that occur. What you know what they do from a scheme perspective he's not a zone corner so he's got to play man-to-man and Maybe they have to do away with he's gonna shadow Maybe they have to do more of the Richard Sherman Josh Norman where hey you play this side of the field You don't play that guy you play whoever's lining up over here, right and you prepared that way I don't know. Maybe you say alright, you've got the second best guy on the outside and we're gonna double or
07 Justin: roll some coverage over to AJ Green side and you but you play you play whoever the Fuck the second receiver is for the Bengals. Sorry. Yeah. Well, are you giving him your fool? I Think he has to be the fool. I mean he gave up Really big plays and he gave up stuff in front of him that let them get first down after first down after first down Well those little Those that there's the they line up in that weird formation that is like a sable to I don't know what you do there What do you do when there's three offensive linemen and then there's two of them are lined up as like we're basically out Outside by the receivers and they're ready to block Do you really get up there? And if you get up there, is somebody freeing like released? I don't I don't know how you play that. Jake: I don't know. In the game that we had, it's a really good play. Yes. The game that we had seven sacks. Yeah, like we got to the quarterback. Oh, man. Justin: Leonard Williams, a monster. Him and Wilkerson together. I mean, they're McClendon at a great game. Jake: I mean, that's talk about impressed. We're going to put back my impressed. This guy I've never heard of him in my life. Sorry and he's on this and he was in the backfield Slamming down that quarterback. I was like who the fuck are you running backs to you? Justin: Like he wasn't falling for no nonsense He was good at one that one where they try to do the reviled around and he's like no No, I've seen that play before and right cuz I played you guys played you guys I used to be in your division I'm gonna give it the folk just you give folk I'll give Rivas But I guess Brandon Marshall was pretty depressing too because He didn't do much and he kind of dropped. Not only was it the time it was it was the drive starter, right? It was the first play of the drive and it was the drive. It was the play that you dropped to get the drive frickin started and you get your best guy free. And he drops it. Jake: Well, when Brandon Marshall has his third on the fourth on the list in terms of. You know yards for the game. It's like something's wrong. We had eight targets. That's not the way Justin: You just didn't catch. She had three catches. Not the way that we win games Jake: We don't win games with brandon marshall with fucking three catches. I'll just tell you that right now Justin: No, no brandon marshall's got to be in the in the anywhere to six to ten range and we forced it last year Jake: sometimes through detriment But that was always his thing. I'm big, I'm strong, I'm gonna fucking get that ball. Justin: I'm big, I'm strong, I bang, he just throw it up to me. Alright, so let's get off that game. Jake: Quincy and Una though for the win, you know I love him. Oh and Jett's 0-1-1 just like you! Me? And the J a-Jett came to fancy like... Oh you tricked my butt. Justin: Good for you man, but my jet was awesome. Quincy. Jake: It was the biggest score on your team. That's terrible. Justin: That's how I roll. I mean, I crushed you. Mike, Mike, Mike. My team did not show up to play.
00 Jake: My jet, he got his big goose egg and I still put up 116. Yeah. Yeah, Bostwick. They were doing cuts the other day. I was like, oh, don't cut Bostwick. He's my only freaking jet. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, anyway. Oh, well. Yeah, anyway, you sucked. Oh, well. And next year, this week, who are you taking on this week? Do you know? No. I will tell you. I have no idea. You're taking on... I don't care. ...Sizzle Daddy Jets. Fuck you, Sizzle Daddy. I got you. You're both 0 and 1. I'm gonna kick his ass. And I'm taking on the Mean Green Slobber Knocker, which I like. Nice. Which is Steve and Peterson. So that'll be fun. Awesome. All right. Oh, and we had an idiot who left in AJ Green in his lineup. Yep. So we guys give you the loss. Sorry, bud. And he self-reported it. Justin: He actually lost it. He self-reported it, which is very nice. Jake: He self-reported it after it was reported by someone else. Ah, got it. Doesn't matter. So the way we did it is I gave, I gave, because you can't negative people points. It was weird. I just gave AJ Green's points to the other team. So they got 36 points. Extra. They already won. But if that had been the thing, they would have won too. Justin: Interesting. All right, let's get to the thing that I didn't do too well at. Any news like around the league that you care to talk about that just happened week one? Jake: I mean, we're going to talk about all the games and pick them and the Patriots winning. I guess when we go through, we'll like talk about the teams that. that we thought were interesting. Justin: We could start right off the bat. We'll skip Thursday. Yeah, we'll go right to the pick up and we'll just talk about these teams. So we've got one o'clock. How many four o'clock? We're going to talk about last week. So last week. Jake: Yeah, but we'll get to it like kind of as we're doing this. Oh, I'm talking about last week's actually the pick up. So don't name is for a coat. It went 11 and five. Gotcha. You went 10 and six. I did. Yeah. I had the worst week I've ever had in my entire life. Yeah, you suck. Four and 12. n actually, I am way ahead of you now. I'm the legit last person. You are last place Jake. The good news is some of the people stop playing and so that will not be last place. And they will catch up. Nobody stop. Please stop. But I'm six behind you, which is very hard. Justin: So I'm going to make up a lot right now. Good luck. How many four o'clock do you have? One, two, three. Four, bye, four o'clock. Jake: Bye, four o'clock. Thank you NFL. Thank you command center. Justin: Thank you NFL and we have a good Sunday night game and a crappy Monday night game as normal. Jake: Oh, Monday morning you go to sleep. Justin: All right, so let's start one o'clock Sunday. We'll skip tonight's game. Good good job. And we've, we've got a division game. We've got Baltimore who beat the Bills. Yes. Yes. Rex can't beat Baltimore. We never beat Baltimore, Rex. He just can't beat Baltimore. Baltimore going to Cleveland minus RG3. RG3 injured his shoulder and is on the IR with the designation to return. Yeah, he's out eight weeks. Yeah, I don't know if that matters. Baltimore is favored by six in Cleveland,
01 Justin: and I'm going to pick Baltimore to win the game. Jake: So I just want to say a lot of points because this is one of the guys that you want. Justin: It's one of the guys I thought was a good high risk, high reward guys. Oh Jake: Well, I mean he heard his shoulder. Yeah, but he's made of you know paper towels Hey, you heard a shoulder Baltimore wind covers the spread. Okay six. All right, Detroit is Justin: Hosting Tennessee. This is the most avoidable game of the week. Like could be no one will watch this game Did Detroit end up winning that game against the Colts? Yes, like they were winning and the Colts did what the Colts do and they came back and then Detroit ended up winning Jake: I think like 39 35 or something crazy, but they did they came back and won it nuts All right, so when a quarterbacks got a run down the field and get a field goal in the game They did it only one bite More than three though, didn't they? Yeah, it was one of those they went back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. Yeah. But, alright. Justin: Alright, Detroit is hosting Tennessee and giving five and a half. Which I actually think is just like maybe like a tad too much. So I'm gonna pick Tennessee. Jake: No, Detroit at home off a big win. I think they're gonna go a little crazy crazy. Yeah, but they're like not good. Justin: That's not good either. But Detroit's not good, so like not good and the Jake: And speaking of Dak the cat, so I don't know. We got to we got to talk about this. Yeah, I got our tails have an awesome name. No, at the tailgate. We had visitors. Speaking of Dak the cat. Yeah, we're going to talk about our visitors. Yeah. All right. Jack, we had Jack the cat. Who Jack the cat? So we had had Jack showed up. We had to we had listeners. Gareth Brothers. Justin: The D I think no, it's only three brothers. Jake: Anyway, so thanks for coming to the tailgate. Don't be a stranger and show up earlier because don't show up like 10 minutes before. Don't like shotgun beers. This is irresponsible. Justin: It's a nice picture of all of us on the Twitter. So go look at that. All right, so the Giants are going to be home at my life. And they're hosting the New Orleans Saints. means. The Giants are giving four and a half. And I think the Saints stinko, like big time stinko. So I'll take the Giants. Jake: This was the game last year, do you remember? It was in New Orleans and it went back and forth. Back. I can put the Giants. Giants lost all close games last year. It was like 40 something. Fifty two forty nine. Something crazy. I think the Giants will... I mean, our Giants friends think that their defense is very good. I don't think it is. I don't know. Justin: They let Dacty Cax, rookie quarterback starting his first game,
04 Justin: like score 19 points. They did shut Des Bryant down, but that's easy when you have a rookie quarterback. Right. You're not really shutting the receiver down. You're kind of making it hard for the home opener. Home opener. Jake: Sane's typically not good on the road. Justin: Sane's terrible defense. Terrible defense. You know Odell's gonna want to go nuts against his hometown team. Jake: And he did nothing last week. So I think he's gonna get the Giants game. I'll take the Giants. Justin: Good game. Pittsburgh hosting Cincinnati. Pittsburgh favored favorite by 3. Pittsburgh's really got a solid solid offense there, don't they? He was really good last year when he played when Leveon Bell was out and they've got the best receiver on the planet. and a quarterback who can make every throw. So Pittsburgh to me covers this three and beats Jake: Cincinnati. I would be surprised if Cincinnati goes on. Of course, Cincinnati opening two on the road and it's pretty rough. I just don't know where Pittsburgh's defense is. Like their thing was always being a defensive team. I played pretty good defense against and We don't know Washington, that team could end up Justin: Why, they were nine and seven last year. The quarterback played fine. They weren't able to run. They weren't able, we could not get the running game going in Washington. I'll take Pittsburgh. Yeah, me too. I don't know why we're arguing. We're not. Speaking of Washington, they're hosting the Cowboys. And this line dropped from three and a half to two and a half, which makes me now pick Washington. If it was three and a half, I think I would have taken the Cowboys. But that one point going down to two and a half is going to have me picking Kirk Cousins to win this game. Jake: Uh, I don't think Dallas. Her cousins makes like 20 million dollars. I think they're gonna, I think they're gonna figure out Dack the Cacks like thing and it's handed off Ezekiel Elliott. It's a lot of cack. Good. Why did he look good? Explain that to me. Because I saw him make, break away some good plays. Did he really? What were his numbers? Justin: Yeah, you think he ran for more than 55 yards. Take a guess. I don't know. He did not. Okay. So how did he look good? I think he looked good. Do you think you have more than 20 carries? He did 120 cars and he couldn't crack 55 cars looking good I'm saying I did once the whole game what do you have like one run that you saw this afternoon? Jake: Yeah, I saw him bust a couple tackles. I was like that was fast Justin: Your shit doesn't make sense. Johnny football, baby. He would have been perfect in I am changing my pick.
00 Justin: I originally picked San Francisco. Carolina is giving 13 too much. It is a lot, but then I realized that they lost a close one on a Thursday. They had a short, a long layoff here, almost like a bye week. San Francisco played on Monday night late and have to come all the way across the country to play at one o'clock east Which is ten o'clock their time? 13 oh, I think Carolina's that good I'm gonna switch my pick to Carolina for all of the reasons that I just mentioned 13 points. I don't care. It's too many points San Francisco though. We don't that's the thing They shut Lane Gabbard, but they shut out a shut out a third string quarterback We're talking Cam Newton here. Jake: Again, I get it, but there's that factor of A, it's a team that is made to go fast and score points. That's what they want to do. I'm not saying they can do it. I just think that's too many points. Justin: Explain Gabbard. Jeremy Curley was their leading receiver. Here's my prediction. I think the San Francisco defense will be better Jake: than you think it is. I don't know. And I think they'll keep it close. I don't think they're going to win this game. Justin: Hey, let me out while we're here. Yeah. While we're, you know, maybe we'll wait, because we'll wait for. All right, keep going. We'll wait, because we're getting to the Rams in a moment. Jake: All right. At least some time to talk about our team. Justin: Houston is in the last of the one o'clock. Houston is hosting Kansas City. Houston favored two and a half. I like Kansas City. Jake: I like Houston at home. I just I don't I don't. Justin: They have some receivers. They got Brock the cock. We have Dac the cack and Brock the cock. Yep. And yeah, they got some receivers there. Jake: And Brock the cock from what the little highlight package I saw, like he was able to do what he what he needs to do. What he's just got to do some stuff. Throw it. Throw deep. Throw deep. All right. Justin: Let's move to four. And let's Don't understand this line. Seattle favored by 3 and a half. Jake: Don't understand this line. This is like the one I want to go to Vegas right now and put down money. Because I don't understand how on Seattle, right? Justin: Yeah, okay. Jake: How did the team that scored zero points last year that looked like a pile of poop Justin: Keep going. Right, with Case Keenum as a starting quarterback. And Todd Gurley who did shit. Jake: Well he can't because it's Case Keenum as a quarterback. That's right, you're gonna stack 900 in the box and dare Case Keenum to throw the ball. Hey Case, try. Try. Justin: Oh by the way, Richard Sherman's over there too. Right. So who are you throwing? Taevon Austin? That's your number one is a five foot two guy like Tavenoff you tower over table. I know I do I dominate table Jake: Everybody everybody on Seattle's team is taller than table in Austin. Yeah, screw you Justin: All right. So let's talk about this for just a second. Okay, so Jake: Man, love Russell Wilson, maybe it's hurt. I love Russell but Justin: Jared Goff didn't even dress for this game against San Francisco. He is their third string quarterback and he did not even dress.
02 Justin: Well, when's won his game? Right. And I didn't watch it, but by all accounts look pretty good. Right. Goff didn't even have a uniform on because he's stuck behind Case Keenum and some other guy I never heard of. Right. Literally, if I've never heard of you, you're pretty shitty. Jake: Just as a side note, Teamstream came across today saying that the LA Rams were thinking about extending the general manager, Wes, was it Wes Snead? Snead. And the fucking head coach. Jeff ate Nate Fisher. Did they not watch Hard Knocks? Justin: I don't know. Maybe... Did they not watch the game? Hard Knocks. All I'm saying is... Jake: What's the... Justin: If they redrafted... Now. Yeah. Knowing what they know now. Jake: I don't think anybody would redraft based on one game and be like, Yeah, we should give up on the guy. Justin: No, here's the question. Jake: Yeah. Justin: What's the question? All right, let me rephrase my question. I want not a redraft. Okay, trade. Who says no? The Cowboys or the Rams, they say, let's trade, deck the cack for Jared Goff. Who says no? If we say trade. Who says no? So. Jake: The trades offered who says no. Oh, I would think I thought you're gonna do jerry go off for Ezekiel. Elliot Justin: Nope, no, no for dak the kak the fourth round cubey Who says no cowboys say no the cowboys say no the cowboys the team who picked the fourth rounder? Who's guys who's starting? Yeah, we don't because of injury fine. He's good But they say no, no, no, we don't want anything to do with that number one overall pick because we have our fourth rounder Jake: Dude, we all know the history of number one overall picks is covered with terrible quarterbacks. Wowzers. Wowzers, wowzers, wowzers. Justin: It's not like littered with terrible quarterbacks. There's a handful, but generally speaking, the number one overalls are... work out fairly well. I think it's probably like 60%, Jake: which is not a high enough stat to like whatever. First of all, it's not like the guy played and played terribly. Justin: He couldn't even make the fucking roster to play. Jake: But that, you're saying that's because of his ability. I am. I'm saying it's because these guys, and I don't agree with them. Justin: He doesn't have anyone in front of him who actually has ever played football. Jake: Point is that they're playing and you saw us in hard knocks. We actually have some insight. They're not playing a We now team they're not trying to do that. I think and I think they're right This team isn't set to win now Girl is gonna be good for four years, right? I can't disagree. I can't hold on. I can't disagree with you more Girl, he's gonna be good for four years Not four more but like two three more. We'll say three more years running backs can play for four years
03 Jake: They've got nobody we just talked about this in the wide receiver. You've got nobody anybody is fucking scared of But that's really the only place where they're not good. They have a defense. Their defense let the other fucking stupid ass quarterback on the other fucking stupid terrible team score all over them. They have talent on the defensive side of the ball. No. They do. This team is going to be terrible. Justin: Tell me that they don't have talent on that side of the ball. Jake: They're taking the season so they can grab a wide receiver. Justin: Do they have a pick? Probably not. Why are you tanking? Jake: If you don't have a pick, why do you tank? I just, listen, I'm not agreeing with their theory, but I think what they're doing is playing this long game. Justin: It's gonna be a long... fired game. Alright, Seattle wins. Seattle wins. Jake: This was seven I picked Seattle. Me too. This was ten I picked Seattle. Yeah, me too. Why am I not in Vegas right now betting on this game? Justin: I don't know. Go. Alright, Arizona... Disappointment of the fucking century hosting Tampa Bay favored by six and a half And I'm picking Tampa out of spite. Fuck you Arizona. Yeah, fuck you guys. Why the fuck couldn't you just kick a goddamn field goal? Jake: I didn't watch a lot of the game. I watched the whole fucking game. They made Garoppolo look like the next fucking Tom Brady Justin: Apparently they don't have a corner opposite Peterson Jake: For in the life of them no shit. It's like it's like Peterson then nobody like literally open field literally a rookie Justin: Who wasn't a corner in college? She was like a running back Jake: I'm picking Arizona because I'm not a big believer in Tampa Bay yet. I know they had a great game I know yeah, I'm not a believer. Yeah,- all right Denver winning its Arizona Justin: I believe Denver's hosting the Colts giving giving six. I'm picking the Colts Jake: In Denver? No, I'll take Denver. Oakland? They've had 10 days to sit around. That team just pisses me off. Another lucky team. And the Colts have zero defense. Justin: Yeah, but I don't know if you need a defense to beat Denver. Yeah, you do. Because... Seaman? You need to run defense. Seaman is full of... Come. All right. Oakland is not the best for the reason. Right. Oakland's hosting Atlanta, which is a great television show, by the way, on FX. It's called Atlanta. It's fantastic. It's really good. Oakland favored by four and a half. I love me some Oakland. Give me the Raiders. Yeah, I'll take Oakland at home. I like it. Chargers hosting the Jags, Chargers favored by three weird, they lost, whatever, give me Jacksonville. Jake: Here's the thing, the underlying story with that is that San Diego is usually terrible at Arrowhead. Justin: Can't score, can't win there, can't win. And they lost their best receiver. for the year again.
00 Justin: Keenan Allen. I think San Diego's just going to be just fine. Jake: I just sucks that that guy is out every year. Justin: Sunday night. Good one. Green Bay at Minnesota opening their stadium. Jake: This is the other one I don't get. Justin: I don't get it either because Minnesota looked confident to me. Oh, we don't see it for different reasons. Oh, interesting. Because Minnesota won. They look competent. Green Bay struggled against Jacksonville. And Minnesota is opening their new stadium. And they are getting two points. No, I think they are. They are solid across the board except for quarterback. But they have the best running back in the game. Two words. Rhymes with Bram Bradford, but he didn't even play he's playing this week fine. Whatever it doesn't matter terrible Doesn't matter they won by like two touchdowns with Jake: Against I don't know who they play Justin: But they won they won handily it matters who you played again I I will take the team opening their brand new stadium and getting points against their arch rivals Jake: Side bet? This is already a bet here. No, let's make a side bet. No. Oh, okay. It's easy. Tease it for me if it's a side bet. I'm not teasing. You think that this is low your way. I think it's low my way. We should be betting. Tease it for me. A lot of money. Justin: Tease it. I'm just bringing out some paper. Tease it. What do you need paper for? We're gonna write down our bet. I'm gonna put a number on this. Alright, put a number on that paper. I don't do money. Put like a thing on there. I don't want to spend money. Jake: One of those. A t-shirt? No, the thing that I can buy. Justin: A bottle of liquor? Yeah. All right. We're betting on this? Yeah, but I gotta get... With the spread. Tease it like three points. Jake: No, fuck your tea. Tease your cock. Rock the cat. I've already done that. No. All right. Right. Uh, two points. We'll talk about it after. No, you're so fucking confident that this is like, oh, the Minnesota. They're so good. Justin: All right, fine. Done. Jake: Yeah, I was like, get you done. I got the go to my face. I go. You're so stupid. Justin: All right. Chicago. That one. Oh, this one. The one I could just go and get because I don't want to. I mean, the good one, I have to like go somewhere. I know, but it's so good. I know. All right. All right. Last game. Then we'll get to the FCE. There's only two games. So this game sucks. Chicago. Yeah, me too. All right. Chicago. They're the favorite by favorite by three against. Jake: I will put it in the background. I'll play Madden. All right. All right. Let's do this. How do we do last week in our in our we both went one and three. Justin: We both picked the same picks. So we both lost. Jake: And the only thing we got right was Seattle winning. And they barely won. Justin: That's all we got. Jake: That was terrible. Justin: That's all we got. Jake: That's, I think, the thing that people were stunned at is and maybe why that other line is so low, is that Seattle really didn't look that good. Justin: They did. They struggled on offense. Their defense was fine. They just struggled on offense.
00 Justin: And you know, Sue did step on Russell. on his Achilles like he just stepped on him and that definitely impacted it and they Were also they didn't go like full throttle with their starting running back, which they've said that they're gonna go They're gonna like, you know Let Thomas Rawls go this week increase his worst his workload, which will probably help the team a little bit. We'll see All right so We have... Only two picks. Miami at New England. Jake: It's an AFC East... ...Cummfest. Justin: Yeah, it's incestuous. So... fucking New England. Jake: You have enlisted wrong, but anyway. Justin: You wrote it. So fuck you. Jake: So the better team is it. All right. So I wrote it right. Justin: So you wrote it wrong. I wrote it right. Where are they? They're in New England, right? Jake: I don't know. You didn't put the spreads in. Whatever. It doesn't matter. Justin: I don't know them. So Miami's at New England. Jake: This isn't zero. Ours is zero. Ours is a pick. And then this one is, is this still one o'clock? Or is it one o'clock? Justin: Yeah, it's one o'clock. Jake: Six and a half. Justin: So the Pats are favored by six and a half. Okay, which you wrote wrong, of course Okay, so You really just don't get it. I do get it. But when I just don't get it I don't know how to do it this way. I mess it up. You just every time dyslexia. So Okay, so Miami at New England New England turns out like can win games like without Tom Brady cuz they're just good at everything because Brady and Gronk are not on the field and they're going against a good team and they just went on the road in Arizona where offensive linemen were not on the two. I think they missed both their tackles and Gronk and Brady and they had no real running back of sorts on the road against a good D with a high powered offense. A team who I don't know if they lost a game last year. It doesn't make sense. They're just so good. They're so well coached. They just do everything right. I'm not picking against them. Me neither. Fuck that. New England, 26. Miami, fuck you, 13. 32, nine. Nine. Jake: That's probably right. Well, they actually didn't score a touchdown last week. Yeah, they did. It was... They lost 12-10. 12-10, okay. Yeah, I just... And I think the sneaky thing is, that's the thing that... That's what belljek will do. Justin: They'll take a team and they're going to go four and oh, and then he's going to come back and go fucking 12 and oh and then hopefully they just play the Giants. And they see rule and lose. Oh God, another one of those nightmares. All right. So game of the century, like game of the millennium. Like this is a big one for both teams. Both are on one. You can't go into because fucking New England one.
01 Justin: God damn it. And I was thinking they would all be 0 and 1 and it'd be like, all right, fine. Do over hit the reset button and let's go play our first division game. Revenge game huge. Jake: We have not won against the Bills. I think it's two years. Justin: Yeah. And Rex has Chan and Fitz's number. I think I read Fitz's one in eight against a Rex Ryan. head coach or defense. So that means he just doesn't know how to play against Jake: Rex. Rex is the other thing is like Fitz is from Harvard and a smart guy. So Rex just dumbasses him. He just like does everything that you just dumb stuff. Like you two guys, you guys go the opposite of what you would normally do. So then Fitz is fucked. Justin: Um, it's gonna be quite a challenge. It's gonna be quite a challenge. Let's talk injuries. So I don't think we're missing anybody key on our end We have wolkerson with a toe listed as questionable, but that's because probable doesn't exist anymore We believe he's playing we believe he's playing david harris with his shoulder, which he'll probably be listed every single game For the rest of the year with that shoulder that he heard in the preseason, but he played, he was fine. How is Lee Lee got carried off the field? He come back. He come back. OK, fine. We get Sheldon Richardson back. Jake: Shouldn't it be like right now because it's like it's two hours within. So it's a 25. Justin: So I think it's an hour and a half. Okay, so like seven is probably the the time when they have to actually report it. Like who's playing is not like. All right, so we're not going to have time. So we don't know that, but I feel like we're healthy. I don't think anyone really got hurt. I agree. And. I also, I feel like our line really held up, our offensive line. That's the thing we didn't talk about. Jake: I mean, Fitz had one sack. One sack. But it was one of those, you know. Justin: He really didn't seem like he was under any duress. Jake: Let me give some good, some friends. Our positive to Fitz. Our fronts are good. And Fitz, I think, one of his good qualities. is that he has a very good sense of when it's coming and he steps up. He's very good at stepping up in the pocket and not taking the fucking massive sack. Justin: Yeah, he doesn't go backwards, he doesn't go sideways, and if he sees it's man and everyone's just out of there, he will run. Right. And he slid. He slid, he didn't slide like, he didn't die. It was pretty bad. He slid, cleats like, I'm gonna kick you in the balls, but he still slid. it. Uh, so I think that's a positive him again. Jake: The line held up though. It did. Like the right tackle. And they're missing their. Justin: They're missing their left tackle, I think.
00 Justin: They're missing their best. It was his name, Cordy Glenn or something like that. He's out. What do they got up there? They got Jerry used to rushing the quarterback. They don't have Mario Williams anymore, but who did they sign? Didn't they sign somebody? I don't know. No, they drafted a bunch of guys that are all hurt. They're hurt. They're like injured. They have LeShawn McCoy. OK. He did. Old, old LeShawn McCoy didn't do much against us last year. Sammy Watkins with the foot. Hopefully he'll be triple covered. So rod Taylor did nothing in game one, but he's dangerous. He's not yeah, you have to keep him in the pocket Yeah, like I feel like if you come after him the way they like went after right all the wrongs not running Jake: No, he's not really going. That's why he got sacked seven times lots of times So I think what they'll do and maybe I'm throwing my keys the castle is is you don't need like you're not going to need to like get pressure on him just make him try to throw the ball and he's not going to be able to throw the ball he's not going to be able to successfully throw the ball to a hurt guy. I don't know they did they did it last year they beat us through the air in game 17. So in the first game I started rewatching and it gets all the way through it. We again had really fucking bad special team stuff. Like there was the, we had a fumble on, on kickoff, or yeah, fumble on punter kickoff that they took into the end zone. So we gave up seven on fucking special. And then we had some other thing that like, trying to think what it was, but it was like, I was watching, I was like, oh shit, we gave this game away too. So. This isn't about fits. I mean, yes, in the final game, when it mattered, in the fourth quarter, he just threw fucking picks like he was going that style. Justin: When we were in field goal range and down by two. I don't think that that's his... Jake: Like, that's not generally who he is. Justin: He has one or two of those games in him every year though. Right. And unfortunately it reared its ugly head in game 16. Jake: Three picks in the fourth quarter is generally not him. From what I've seen. Justin: They're, also, is.undrum. Darius, right? Darius is like suspended for four games. Mikey the castle is. Jake: Tyra Taylor is only dangerous if he's running around. I think our line and the speed of our linebackers, especially with Lee, if Lee's playing, you know, he's fast and that front. Justin: Oh, Jenkins is out, right? Jake: All those guys can run them down. I mean, Mo Wilk was tackling people like on the sidelines, which is weird. Sheldon Richardson's fast, like for that big fucking guy and we know that like. Thank you. I just don't think they're gonna be able to do much. They're not running the ball. Now maybe they watched it from last week and do fucking screens and bubble screens out to the side. I would. All day and maybe we have an answer for that. But like the way I see us losing this game is if Tyra Taylor's running all over the fucking field. Justin: The other thing that, I mean the Bengals beat us on wide receiver screens and big plays. Right.
00 Justin: It was wide receiver screen, wide receiver screen, wide receiver screen. If it wasn't that we were sacking him right and then it was 4050 yard chunks chunk plays like big down the field plays Who alright my key to the castle is the Jets need to be able to run the ball That's it. We need to be able to run on the bills if we can run the ball on the bills control the game through our front on offense and our front on defense, we will win the game. We have to be able to run. We can't have third and eights, third and nines. That's where Fitz gets in trouble against these Rex defenses. We have to be able to run on first down and game four yards. We have to be able to, you know, find. throw for a couple yards on first down in that west coast style to like Forte or somebody quick. And then on second and seven run for five yards. Like get that run game going early and pound it and pound it. So that by the fourth quarter, we are running for chunks. Jake: Yeah, I just don't think we have a backfield to do that, but we do. Justin: I mean, it happened again since it. That's exactly what we did. I know he almost he had 90 plus yards. He ran for. 4.5 per carry. Blau Powell can carry the load if he has to. They don't have to have Forte run the ball 22 times. He can run 15. Powell can run eight. They should have between them 25 to 30 carries. If that happens we're gonna win. I don't want Fitz throwing the ball 35 times. That's a loss. That's a loss. Not against his defense. That is a loss. Other places he could do it and do fine. All right, what do you have to score? I feel like they threw the ball at every play in the first quarter. Like I don't feel like they even tried to run against Cincinnati in the first half. Jake: Well, you know what Rex is gonna do. Rex is gonna bring pressure. So there's gonna be chances for Fitz to read the field and there's gonna be someone who's... Justin: Well, he's gonna run stupid blitzes too. There's always... I remember even Zarkoach, I loved it. He would bring the heat from all over the place. There were times where he'd bring that heat and it's like, oh, shit, there's no one on that half of the field. Right. Touchdown. Right. Wow. All right. I got it. 1610. Low score. Oh, ugly. Jake: gonna be painful, gonna suck, but hopefully we'll win. Thursday games are generally low scoring and they're generally bad for receivers. And just ugly. Ugly. I have it being ugly, but I don't know if it's that ugly. I have it 2318 New York Jets win the fucking game. We go on two kids, it's a long road, it's a long season. It's not undoable, but it's a longer season. We go one and one. You know... Yeah, I mean what's probably gonna happen is fucking everybody's gonna be one one except that bills me 0 and 2 but Anyway, so let's let's get the fuck out of here and go watch the game Let me get this up on thing. It's Justin. It's Jake is saying as always
02 Jake: Let's go You You You You You You You
00 Jake: You You You You You You You You You
