20 Jake: Welcome to Jet Kingdom Podcasts, longest running New York Jets podcast. I'm Jake, joining me from the outhouse, Mouse. What is Justin? Justin: Where am I joining you from? Jake: Oh, you're always crazy as an outhouse mouse. You ever heard that expression? So anyway. No, anyway. It's a Monday Win podcast. Oh wait, we played it on Monday. It's Wednesday. Oh wait, no way. It's Wednesday. It's Wednesday. But everyone's super happy to have this podcast in their favorite podcast app, whatever that might, be. Because it's a victory podcast. This is a victory podcast. Oh, man. But that doesn't mean you're gonna get more than one. Oh, man. You should have seen your face after the first play on Monday. You were so just... Distraught you're so done. I wasn't you were like so done You're like, oh, please just put my count in already. No, you were like, give me the cow. No, where's petty? I'm ready for petty. I was I was projecting The headlines of the post the daily news like Sam awful and Sam I'm not and Sandman goes to sleep and like it just I could just see it Anyway, that's not the way it turned out. It's pretty much the story that ever I had two moments one love Oh God's me terrible and then I thought well if his it's not about his first pass It's about his last pass and so let's let's see what he does for the rest of the game the the and,. and to the lions after they felt the wrath. I mean we basically walked into their house, spotted them a seven, and then smacked them around for the remaining 59 minutes. Yeah so this was the early game on Monday night. I will say watching football on Sunday was both fun because they just got to watch football, but it was painful because we've been waiting so long not only for this kid to start, but kind of like to be back in the seat where you're kind of excited about the season. Like I just haven't been excited for, I think the last four years. Super exciting.
00 Jake: And you're just like, you're excited for the season. So it comes up and then, you know, we're watching the game and the first fucking play goes out there. Yes, he should have known better, but I do, I take like two or three exceptions with this game because again, there's so much to love. I just thought that play call was stupid. Stupid stupid stupid play call. Just hand it off. That first play, just let the guy get one play, hand it off, bubble screen, just do something simple. all. so you can feel like, oh good, and then you get into the rhythm. And I get what they were trying to do. Yeah, they're trying to get him like a big chunk off first. And he saw it. I mean, if you looked at where he was intercepted and where Blaupaul was when I rewatched the game. Either way, that was going for a touchdown. He could have, right. It could have gone for touchdown the other way, and that would have written the story another way. But this is the thing we heard about. That's it. but that it didn't phase in. He never got one of those bad spots. And we've been having side conversations about how this was Sanchez or Gino, which we've watched. I've watched Gino on the field on what his second play of the game, he threw a pick at the Bills and then he threw another one and then another one. like he just went into a spiral. And I saw Sanchez do the same thing. I forgot the team we played, maybe the Bills, were through five. I remember a fiver against the Bills actually. He just couldn't stop himself. And it's funny because on the other side of the field, that guy was having the same problem. Oh yeah, Stafford was not having a fun day. He just, and he got into it, you could see, he was just flapped, he was trying to make it up, he was trying to throw things where they weren't supposed to be. And here was this, the... a number three pick first round who outplayed the first pick 10 year old 10 year vet who's been paid hundreds of millions of dollars to play this game um and and and darnold outplayed him he did 100 to 1 he did he did he had a lot of help he had a lot of help lots and lots of help uh Very, very much a full, like a whole team, really good performance. I don't know how you would say that. Just everybody played very well. The offense played well. The defense played extremely well. Special teams played awesome. Like Woah, Andre Roberts, welcome to the team man. Thanks for showing up, and thanks for returning punts because we haven't had a punt return in a long time and this dude had three big punt returns. Three big ones. One that you'll remember, the 78-air touchdown, and that's a great one, but his other two
02 Jake: were for like 15 and 15. Like he that one was for what for 78 But he had a total of 137. Um, pump return yards, which means the other two average 30 yards. Yeah. So like we were never our defense and special teams played it the way that you want to play, not a game that's 48 17, but a game that's like 17, 13. Let's just control the field, like where we are in the field in terms of field position. and let's choke down their offense and let's give our offense short fields to work with. And if they can't drive, they can't drive fine. We punt them, punt them down inside the 10 and when they punt it back to us and boom it to the 30, we're not fair catching it at the 30. We're catching it and we're returning it out to the 50. And now we have another. You want to score three points, get 20 yards. You know, like not a big deal. You're indoors. So special teams played awesome. Offense played the way they needed to play, especially after that first one, which was tough. There was a really good bounce back drive. You know, we kind of just took it to him after that, scored 17 straight points. I was very impressed with in the third quarter we kicked off to them. and they were in two minute mode and they went right down the field on us and it was like ah shit yeah 17 all now really that sucked that took less than two minutes and like four plays Stafford just goes down the field okay fine very impressed with the next drive that Sam just went right back down the field and scored on a long you know a long field and then it was defensive touchdown, punt return touchdown, just defensive everything. Did Sam Donald throw a, I don't think he did, he didn't throw a red zone touchdown. Um right because both his things were outside the well. Yeah, Crowell ran for one ran for two actually one was for six yards. The next one was the long one to Robbie that he was a little late, but Robbie made a really nice play on. So he didn't. And then the other one was to Quincy from the 21. Yeah. So yeah, no red zone, no red zone touchdowns, but no red zone. No red zone turnovers either. Big thing for me. I mean, again, it's hard to tell. Some good first down pickups. It's hard to tell who won this game. Like I keep thinking, well, the defense played great. The Jets played great. But to me, it has to be the it has to be the special teams. For a couple reasons. First. one of the guys who went field goal missed it but I don't know if they got their hand on that second one. That second one they missed two field goals. That's the one we got our hands on.
00 Jake: He just was I mean I was at the end of a drive where I feel like Detroit felt like they were in the no nowhere's land. So let's kick the 55 yard field goal and it was like Please try that field goal. Yeah, like the three points don't matter to me I'd rather just have the ball right there at the 50 as opposed to be paid. Even things go against us Looking at that pick. I think that guy picked it. I think he put Nicholson Yes. Ari Nicholson, he picked that ball. And that should have been reviewed. And that was a three point swing. And it wasn't because Bowles didn't review it. It was inside the too minutes. That should have just been reviewed. Interesting, because if that were a wide receiver and they called it out, they would have reviewed it 100 times over. . . Like all they did they would have reviewed it. They would have reviewed it for sure. So right. I don't get it. That should have been reviewed. Should have been reviewed. 100%. Should have been reviewed. But yeah, the setting the team up and I just think back to last year and two years, three years ago when we just you'd start at like the 15 and then you'd have a penalty. Then you start at like the 10. Yeah, it was terrible. And then trying to be 90 yards is tough and doing it over and over again. Yeah. tough and Sam didn't have he did have a couple good drives and he had to like actually move down the field but he had a lot of times where he was left at the at the 30 at the 40 at the 50 where he's just like okay I just have to get down a little bit and then didn't even have to drive down to the one he could drive down to the 21 and and the guy made a couple of big or he's at wherever he was and he does a 41 yard pass like That was nice. And we were sitting there during the first quarter and we kept saying, why are they not throwing to Robbie? Why are they throwing to Robbie? Like he looks like, look, look, look. And of course someone else noticed it and just said, hey, let's take a shot. And that was a 50-50 ball. Like if that received that corner was any better. He was just, it wasn't a corner, it was a safety. and it came out like maybe half a second later He had lots of help. He had guys make huge plays for him. You know, uh, um, frickin' Isoa Crowell making that play. Quincy knew what made some amazing catches. Quincy's back, by the way. Like, Robbie Anderson, even that, he fought for that ball. I feel like two years ago...
11 Jake: I some kind of weird name popping up as getting getting pressure on on the quarterback like Frankie Lou vu yeah I mean this is who's out there Frankie Lou is. He's out there he's out there playing ball Brandon Copeland's out there like we're really kind of lining it looked to me more as like a nickel but with the with the four down lineman like these They had linebacker numbers on 15-51, but they were kind of playing defensive end. Two things that stand out me looking at some of the stats. Third down conversion, six for 14. Jets, three for 13 for Detroit. Like you can't win games at three for 13. You're just not winning. Six, you should be at about 50 percent. 6 to 14 is getting there And then time possession 33 versus 26. Where's our favorite stat our parcel stat? Time possession times I forgot it was completions plus rushing attempts Completion 16 plus rushing 36 And it had to add up to 52 or more. That is exactly 52. That's 52. And the other one has to win. that means you win the game 15 plus 29 what they were so a little quick math where's that at 44 9 44 you said 39 put yet 44 yep, so they lose 52 Yeah great that's the the magic parcel stat and And they they actually got some they they moved the ball when they wanted to that was scary that one And then they stopped trying like it looked like they just had a secret kind of like Hurt Matt Stafford. Yeah, he was definitely hurt. We knocked him around a little bit That's gonna be fun pick your night. That's gonna be fun pick your night and play the game, please We need to move on. We've got more games to talk about. Oh, um, did you just want to just just briefly touch on the coaching? Sure. Just briefly, because it kind of was kind of a big story coming out of the game, how it was very abundantly. It was abundantly clear that Todd Bowles had out prepared and outcoached. Matt, Patricia? I just, I think the players out prepared and the assistants, and maybe Todd had something to do with that. I don't want to not give him credit for having the team ready to play. That's what he's supposed to do fine, but if they were not ready to play we'd get on his ass about it. So I think it's fair to say good job getting the team ready to play on a Monday night on the road. Good job for doing a job. Well, yeah, I mean you bitch about coaches when they don't do their jobs.
03 Jake: Like, I'd be fucking livid if I was a Lions fan. And this guy's first game we lose 48-17 and it comes out later that the Jets knew what the fuck they were doing. Because they just prepared. Wait, but that's so weird. How about changing some shit up? Like, here's what's weird. He's a first time head coach. That's the first game he's ever... Yeah, but he had the same offensive coordinator. He couldn't walk over to the offensive coordinator and say, Hey dude, I'm a defensive guy and I've noticed some tendencies about our team. Can you change that shit? I think having... Isn't that his job? I think having Bulls step away from the defense a little bit is good. I give Bulls the credit for this, that... That was a gut blow to start that game, you know, yes, he kept his face pretty stoic Apparently I didn't but like that was a gut blow that was brutal and him just to go come on guys Let's go, you know that him being that type of coach that he doesn't lose his shit. He doesn't lose his shit I think that helped that helped the team and the team, they all said it. And again, some of them I'm sure were shitting themselves and some others were like, oh my God, and others were like, fine. But I think that helped. I think that kind of coaching where he's like, listen guys, let's go. Come on, back on the field. We're gonna go, we're gonna go down there and score. I think really helped. I don't know the whole prepared thing. Cause I don't, what does that mean? They tied their laces tighter. They studied more. They all did the same amount of practice. Yes, they They clearly had a level of understanding of the Lions offense. Or maybe the Lions are just bad. And it's like beating up on them. Yeah, but like being in the right, being in the right spots at the right time to make certain plays is about just knowing where to be. and reacting and not thinking. I would say if I'm giving out coach awards, I'm giving them out to I'd give them out to the special teams coach and giving them out to the defensive coach. The offensive coach, I think, did did well. I get got Sam to do well. But there was there was just some head scratches that everybody after the game was like, what are you doing? The first play and that that reverse to Robby Anderson. And I'm not going to complain about. Offensive coordinator when you drop 48 and could have dropped 55. He wanted 48. That's the point. Well, the team had 48. Yes, but Minus 14 points that were that nothing to do with the offense doesn't matter. They still get the credit for 48 points No, the Jets do but yes, but not the offensive coordinator. That's fine points. You tell me that Offense of the Jets is gonna score 34 points every game. I will sign up and yes Sign my life and if you tell me that the defense is gonna give you five turnovers every game I bet double school 34 that too. Okay Quick injuries Marcus made in play knew that we still don't know it's Wednesday. So I guess they're back to practice today
01 Jake: We don't know just yet if he's lacing him up Tremaine Johnson did take a knock during the game, but he did come back. So that goes as an offensive fumble too. Weird right? Yeah it was like because it looks like it looks like we had teams on offense. He's on offense like at that point. Yeah. That was a nice play that he made. He made a great play. And then he got smacked around by a wide receiver but that'll happen. Right. Pick your play of the game in your night. If you don't pick one I'm gonna have to pick well there's two players who are just clearly were heading the shoulders above the others. Well, there's three actually. There's a lot of a lot of good plays. There's a lot of good slam. The one that we you have slammed many times. I think that's all you need to give him. I'll give him the night. But my my play of the game is going to be I'm going to go with the punt return. OK. And I'm going to go with I'm going to go with the punt return. The touchdown I guess but all of them were really good, but that that touchdown Return really just I mean it was the third quarter and it was still within two scores And I looked at you and I said hey this guy's return Returned two good puns already I'm betting he has another one and then he ran it for a touchdown. It was like, oh shit We have a punt returner and that put the game away. That's it It became 38 17 at that point and the game was over that so to me That was a huge play and it was on special teams and we just haven't had I mean, we haven't had a defensive touchdown in like five years. They said it was like the longest streak in the whole league. I don't know when the last special teams touchdown was either. But that was a big one. And then I'll give credit where credits do. The night of the game goes to Darren Lee. Certainly does. Two picks, one for a pick six. and some pretty nice tackling in the backfield. He blew up a screenplay. You didn't really see Detroit doing a whole lot of running the ball. What they run for, like 50 yards maybe? There was not a lot of room there in the middle of the field. So good job by Darren Lee, whom Um... was finally showing off some of that athleticism that we've been hearing about for so long. My, that's a good one, my play is the one that I think, uh, I'm gonna make the play and the, the night of the game the same. Uh, my play of the game is, is the Quincy Nuneuw touchdown. And I think it's because if you watch the way the game went, you know, seven, seven zero off the start, then we come back seven seven. That's 10, 7, 17, 7, 17, 17, 17. You're like, OK, this is even like this. These two teams were handicapped by touchdown, but are basically even. And that's where the point where it just that's where we went. No, we can come right back because they had just they had scored a touchdown.
01 Jake: Right. Golden T went right in from 24 yards out. And that pass and then just watching Quincy fight for it. And that's what you just you just reminded me actually of another player who's on the team. Remind me of him. Remind me of Brandon Marshall. Like Brandon Marshall had that like he's going to get every freaking, you know, remember that time when he threw the pick and he rips the pick out of the guy's hand like he fought for it. I love seeing that. And he fought to get all the way down and fought to get in the end zone. But then we went up 24 17 and then they didn't score ever again. Like they never even scored. You know, the Darren Lee one put it away. The, you know, the punt return win. And then when Crowell had an amazing run that we were both watching going, oh my God, that was fast. He has that. He has he has that speed. So having that back. Listen, you know, it'd be very easy to give it to Sam. Man, it'd be very easy to give it to Sam. Sam's got to earn it. But I'm going to hold off. Yeah, I'm going to hold off on Sam. I. We miss Quincy last year. I remember in the in the preseason or in the offseason You're all bent out of shape over losing Austin Safarian Jenkins Because we lost our big strong target big tall. Yeah. Yeah. Well, we'll see We Austin's friend Jenkins have fought through three guys to score No, he would have been tackled at the five by the ankles or he would have fumbled it into the end zone It's done that a couple times I agree. Quincy's the man. Quincy's got hands, Quincy's got the legs, he's strong. And that scramble, another play when he scrambled and Quincy came back and he threw across his body and caught it, it's like wow. Big third down. So those are my... plays the game. All right, sweet. Awesome. Nice job. Yes. Good job. Let's get to the pick them. What do you think? Well, first of all, let's talk, let's do a little recap. Of what? Well, first we have to recap the... Oh, we don't need to do that. Oh, really? I love it when you lose. You don't want to talk about it, but when you win, you always want to talk about it. We have no reason to talk about it. So you and I went head to head in the Jack King of the Fantasy League. I let you witness. I had a zero... Uh, zero tight ends. And I, uh, that worked out well for me. Beating you 99 to 93. I love it. Remember those of you who are listening. I assume everyone who plays in that league actually listens to this. Um, just an assumption. Remember, um, week. Two now if you have any dolphins on your team get them out of there get them out of that lineup They are not valid. No really shouldn't have one anyway, but just in case you do yep All right, let's let's move on all right, so let's do the pick up and let's talk about We're picking every game. Yeah against the spread. Yep How'd we do last week? We both had seven you and I. Okay, so we're tied. There you go.
01 Jake: That's the only time we'll see that we tied. That's all that really really matters. And who did the best last week? You know what? My browser just locked. You're very good. So Ozjet won the week with 12 to... 3 so you pick 12 right that's pretty damn well Ozjet I'm very nice really you're already you're already too ahead of when to fold when to Darnold very good I wish I knew he was real name but it's kind of funny well so far we have 21 people who actually pick something yes remember when this used to be a little bigger anyway we're in the middle we're in sevens we're gonna pick all the games against the spread we're gonna skip the AFC East yes of which there are three this week because we are involved in a tussle against another AFC East rival and then we'll hop over to talk about the AFC East in our throne picks cool do it all right Thursday night That's tomorrow we have Baltimore at Cincinnati and Baltimore took it to the Bills didn't they? And Josh Allen starting by the way. Peter both. Oh you mean they took their time and made that decision? Yeah. So Peterman showed them that he's not a professional quarterback. He wasn't the game last year that we threw the five picks in the quarter. In the first half that wasn't the game that got them to this point. So they took a guy seven overall and then realized that he was better than a guy named Peterman. Okay, good. All right. So anyway, Baltimore beat up on a shit team. I think they're going to have their hands full favored on the road at night on Thursday. That doesn't make sense to me. I'll take the home team on Thursday night getting one point. Give me Cincy. I will take I'm going to take Baltimore. Yeah, you'd think they're good for some reason. They're good. Well, they win this week. We'll see if they're not good. Yeah. Thursday road is tough and to be favored is even weirder. All right. Point. Well, it's still favorite. I mean, that's really four points. All right. Atlanta is hosting Carolina, another division rivalry here, and Atlanta is home and they are favored by six. Carolina had some injuries, so they lost a tackle and Greg Olson. Which is big for them, but I still like Carolina for some reason. I like I feel like this is going to be just a close game. So I'm going to take care of the week that I overtake you. Yeah, I'm going to take Atlanta back at home. Home opener. They'll win that game. Atlanta seems to find really interesting ways to blow games. Yeah, they're not gonna go 0-1-2 They're gonna win. Okay, and I think Carolina's gonna get blown out. All right Green Bay is hosting Minnesota Do we have any word on Aaron Rodgers yet? I do not have any word on him I've been making all my calls and no one's called me back
01 Jake: He said he was gonna play. Did you call Shafter? I didn't call Shafter I don't know. It's it's well. There's a line though. So there is a line. It's zero. I'm gonna assume he's playing as well the line is zero Cuz I don't know. I think they'd be favored by I'm gonna take Minnesota. I'm taking Minnesota to defense travels and I'm worried that That's a good and Green Bay looked vulnerable. They did they did they should have lost that game if not for some Aaron Rogers magic He has a lot of magic tons. All right, this game is off. It doesn't have a line, but it's Tennessee hosting Mario Houston I'm thinking that's mario. Duh neither of these teams looked very good last week Houston looked like crap Against New England honest and Deshaun Watson looked like crap against New England Tennessee didn't look any better against Miami in the longest game in NFL history. Yep, I will take Houston and the line is zero. So I'm taking Houston. Okay, there's still tomorrow for these lines actually come on the board but as of now it's off. New Orleans who got embarrassed by Fitz Magic. Fitz Magic! Fitz Magic showed up. New Orleans is hosting Cleveland who didn't lose. Nope but they haven't won. Not yet but they didn't lose. They haven't won a game. They haven't lost yet either. They haven't won a game. They haven't won a game in... I think they'd be happy with a record of Oh, oh, and 16. That'd be eight full games better than last year. That's true. But I do not think they're happy about this. Well, New Orleans is hosting Cleveland. They had every chance in the world to win that game. They should have won like three times. New Orleans home coming off that embarrassment. They're favored by 10. I think they win by 30. I don't think so. I think that they have the offense. They scored the 40 points. It's just let's put some defense together to stop Cleveland Yeah, they're not very good. I don't think Norland's is gonna be able to go I clean once defense didn't look bad They kept the they kept the Steelers when they had to more than a few times dealers are a good offense They got some really kind of over like four big Ben didn't have a great game, but yardage rise They had like 200 yard receivers and a running back that ran for 130 some odd yards and is too much Cleveland stays close I don't like them. Noah wins by nine. Don't like him on the road. All right, Tyrod Taylor All right. We're still at one o'clock. Tyrots terrible. Um, Pittsburgh Pittsburgh is hosting Kansas City Uh, Pittsburgh is favored by five. Don't quite get it. Kansas City looked really good. Pittsburgh tied Cleveland. Yeah. Uh, I'll take those five. I'll take the points. Give me Kansas City. I think this is gonna be even though Pittsburgh didn't lose. They didn't win and I feel like they're in their locker room kind of going we didn't win
01 Jake: Yeah, not we didn't lose because they should have won. They do have distractions though They still have distractions, but I feel like the distractions are gone a little bit because they're like, hey look at this guy He's pretty good too. Like let's just drop this in fact belle if you want back in Come back anytime you want because here's this other guy. I think Pittsburgh just actually takes the house They'll figure out a way to make Mahomes look really muah bad. We'll see he looked great last week He did at home He had a couple he had a couple of those plays like he throws it somebody and then that guy makes us Oh, that's tree kill that'll happen. All right, doesn't always happen though. Philly at Tampa Philly favored by three against a team that won 48 to whatever. Still like Philly. That's weird. I know, but they're just the Tampa isn't that good. No, they just aren't. They're not going to. So I'll take Philly on the road, given three. I don't mind. That's weird, but I too will take Philly. All right. We are still at one o'clock. This is our last one o'clock. We have Washington at home facing Indy. The line is six. Washington is favored. Washington looked pretty good. They look very well coached, very well put together. Alex Smith looked really good for them. I like and Adrian Peterson. That's a good run. I had some pretty solid play there. So I like Washington, even though Andrew Luck is back and he had a nice game. They're still indie. They still kind of stink, right? Their defense still kind of stinks. They have no running game whatsoever. And they have one receiver to worry about. So I'll take Washington laying seven or laying six. Sorry. I'll actually go with indie. I think this is going to be a little bit of Andrew Luck. like game I can see a pretty high scoring but I'm picking indie okay points we have four a nice four four slate of four o'clock games so we have the LA Rams hosting Arizona And Arizona looked awful. Yeah. And the Rams took it to Oakland in the second half of that game and basically shut it all down. Rams are favored by 13 and a half. That line jumped from 11 to start the week, which means it started a little too low. Yeah. So. Some money came in on the Rams, apparently. So I'm gonna keep that train moving. There's no reason to believe that Sam Bradford can go on the road and score more than two touchdowns. And the Rams, I feel like, are not gonna score less than 30 all that often. So I'll take the Rams. All right. You know I don't want those two those big points. You do not like it when it gets over 10. I'm gonna take Arizona. You do not you are scared of 10. I'm scared of 10. You are okay. That's a big one. San Francisco Jimmy G hosting Detroit. I watched Jimmy G throw a lot of interceptions last week.
05 Jake: Jimmy G played the Vikings man that's a good defense. Detroit not a good defense. I like San Francisco here laying five and a half jump from three to five and a half I Wonder if there's some like Stafford's kind of gimpy news or something that happened there. No, that's a Monday thing. No, oh You're right cuz they well know the Tuesday line came out at three Then jump and then jumped from Tuesday to Wednesday at five and a half. Maybe it's like The stuff about the coaching came out. Like that was going to be in the turmoil. Don't hire a Belichick disciple. They all saw name one that's good. You can't write or as a winning record. They even did that tree. And I don't think there's one. The only one that I think is somewhat competent is O'Brien and Houston. I don't know if he had the winning record. Probably close, but I mean I don't know. It's not that our clown has a winning record either. No, he doesn't. I'm gonna take San Francisco. Move on. Yeah, me too. Alright. Um, two more. Denver is hosting Oakland. Denver is favored by five and a half over Oakland. And I like Oakland to have a little bit of a bounce back. So I'll take those points and I'll take that Oakland. Oh, no, thank you. I don't think Denver is that good. Denver's defense is pretty good. I don't like Oakland going to Denver mile high. No, thank you. The four o'clock game. No, I don't think in Denver all day long. Okay, we're skipping that one and we're going right to Sunday night. I love how they put these two 0-1 teams on Sunday night. This is a staple. Every year you're going to get this game at least once, maybe twice on a Sunday night. So this will play this up and play this up. Oh yeah, this could be a tie. Could be. in on the Yahoo, you know, you have to pick it for the tiebreaker. Yes. So I have this 1310. So Dallas is hosting the Giants. Big NFC East Battle, I guess these teams both look pretty shitty, although I talked to the Giants fan friend that we often reference reference. On the show. He said, and I quote, I liked what I saw. They lost. They lost. What do you like about that? Big run from Barkley ran the ball. What Beckham caught the ball a few times. Yeah. I mean, nobody got hurt. Yeah. What do you like about losing? What can you take away from that game that you like you lost to Blake Bortles? Yeah. I Don't know I don't know I have the Giants whatever me too Give me the points because this could honestly Dallas look pretty shit themselves. They did I mean Nate they're missing
04 Jake: I don't know if they're necessarily missing Des Bryant, but they're missing The Des Bryant like right that player the receiver that Dak can throw the ball to because he was great when he was a rookie and he had Elliot for the whole year in this offensive line intact. And oh, by the way, Des Bryant and Jason Witten, he doesn't have any of these safety. I don't like their head coach at all. The clapper, the clapper. All right. Yeah, I picked that game 13, 10 Giants. So last game, Chicago hosts Seattle. And Chicago's giving three. I was impressed with Chicago. I know they lost. They lost to some Rogers magic, which will happen from time to time. They didn't quite finish the game like they should have really finished but they looked good,., guy getting shade. He was on a snap count right? If he played every snap like he's supposed to, well that's a much better defense. And that offense is very nice. It's a nice scheme. It's very friendly to the quarterback. I like them. I'll take Chicago over Seattle. I guess I'm picking like the two year ago Seattle. I just can't see. Yeah., I the defense is defense is defense is defense is defense is defense I just can't see it. I can't see it. I can't see it. I'll go 0-2. I'm on 2. They're on the road. Justin: They're on the road. Jake: Alright. Well let's talk about throne picks from last week. How'd you do? nice job. That's That's right. Perfect. Perfect mix. You did it. You did it. The LA Charters. Coming all the way east to play the best. And prohibitions. I'm going to play the best. And. and a half. Now, we don't care necessarily, because we're just picking scores here. But what's gone? Has it moved? Has it moved? Has it moved? Has it moved? Has it moved? Has it moved? Has it moved? Has and it That at this very moment he is not good enough to play professional football But maybe he'll be good in a couple years who knows but at this very he sucks my ass. Okay? Got a gun on him feels great. Got a can I like, Phil Rivers coming over. I think he's got the experience. That's the offense that they have there. That defense, pretty decent. They didn't play just Joey Bosa was out and that's a big part of it, but I like LA 31 Buffalo.
26 Jake: Three field I have charters winning but I think it's pretty close. Could be. Fuel goals. Twenty seven. Twenty six. Twenty six points for the Bills not even in four games. We'll see. Oh my god. All right. For no baby. New England. Undefeated. New England goes to Jacksonville for a rematch of last year's AFC championship game. And I believe that New England comes out on top yet again. New England is favored on the road by a point which would bug me if I was on the Jags or if I was a Jaguars fan, I guess that would bug me. Well, you are. I am a But I think New England's still just a cut above. They're still good, they still win, they made Houston look silly. And by the way, Houston had all their defensive players like JJ Watt was out there. And it doesn't fucking matter. Like Tom Brady just scores. He's throwing the guys you never heard of he's got Gronk still like Gron Gronk still healthy I think New England gets a little comeuppance. Think they could pull it off. I just think they could get to him. So I'm gonna go Jags 33 Pat's 30. Fucking they win against the Pats. Crazy. But you know what that means after I pick this next one. I'll tell you what that means. By the way, I just want to say the name of this podcast. I named it Just End the Season. I did that. A is a kind of throwback to like everybody thinking that the Jets can be terrible. But B, like because you and I are walking down the street talking about this. And I was like, we're one and oh. Oh, our quarterback just played well.
00 Jake: We just put up the most points we put up in the longest time. We had one of them. I mean, I mean, other than one play, we had almost a perfect game and that game was almost a perfect game if you just did took away that one play. Yeah. So it's like, wouldn't it be great? They just end of the season. This is it. I want the 2019 draft to start. I want the Jess to pick at 10 and just move on. But that's why I named it Jess send the season. So it's not a things are bad. Got it. All right. Let's go. Give me the keys to the castle. I'm beating the doll. Bams. OK. I do a dolphin. Justin: Flipper, flipper. Jake: All right. So keys to the castle yeah, all right, so I Don't think Miami has much of an offense. I don't think very much or awesome Awesome. Let's put your main Johnson on him and see what happens. Tremaine Johnson wasn't unbeatable. No, he gave up some big chunky plays. He gave up some plays over the middle where he was on his own. Yeah. OK. That's what he's been. He's what he's paid not to. Well, again, our defense gave up all of one touchdown. So I think on the whole, I think. That that's gonna resurface like the the-miami offense doesn't scare me in the Who's always been a nightmare? For us and they've Robert Quinn Coming over from I guess who's on the Rams last year or two years ago, whatever I mean, I don't know if he's washed up at this point or not, but he's a name then I know and Those guys can get after you a little bit and I'd like to see us handle that better. I think On the right side, we're fine. Like Shell is good. He's a quality right tackle in my opinion. He's average to slightly above average, perhaps, but he's not an issue. Beach is not played all all camp. Really all preseason never took us. I think that was an issue early. I think it resolved itself a little bit. Maybe Ziggy answer getting hurt helped with that. Their number one pass rush are getting hurt. That might have helped a little bit, but it did resolve itself by the end of the game. Like we were able to run. We were able to kind of do whatever we wanted to do. We were running. What'll be interesting is watching this full season and seeing how some of the schematic trends turn into how they blossom a little bit.
08 Jake: So we were sending guys in motion. Every play almost. It seemed like that jet sweep was just... It was always an option for Sam. And it'll be interesting to see how that evolves. I'll predict on this show that we will do something zany with that action in this game, whether it is on third and one. Yeah, whether it'll work or not. I have no idea, but very similar to what the Chiefs were doing where they were running to kill. And I think whatever number 13 name is Johnson or something. And they're just, you know. My homes would stand there and like just let the ball go. Yeah, it's a forward pass touchdown. Yep. I'd like to see us slow their defensive line down by doing some of the actions off of what we've already set up or confuse them a little bit with some of those actions that we've already set up. So those are my keys, just really protecting Sam. Like getting those pass rutchers not to like just you know pin their ears back and go making them think a little bit and then You know whipping the ball down the field. I want to see a little more down the field action From from this team nice. I had a nice down the field throw. I mean it wasn't a lot but it was Yeah, didn't take too many shots. If you look, you know, I think they didn't need to. Didn't need to. There were some nice throws to Quincy over the middle, but not a lot of like, you know, I want to see Robbie down the field a couple of times. All right. What's your score? 26 10 jets. So the way the jets are favored by two and a half. There you go. Not a full three. There you go. the Special teams special teams just say teams called that teams This week it's run baby run. I That running game was better than I thought it could be the offensive line were building holes and Correll I I mean again I didn't really pay attention to him when he was on the Browns because he wasn't I don't pay attention to the Browns and he Wasn't on a fantasy team So I wasn't like paying attention to him but that he has some giddy up and I was impressed by that I'm actually, I think the way to win this game is to get a good running game going for them. And I think they can do it. So I want them to run and establish a good running game and then let Sam throw the 20 attempts or whatever. We don't want to get into shoot out with them. I don't think they have the firepower to do that. But I think we win this, buddy. I feel like this is it. We kind of just beat the in London. Remember we started off with the killing. We picked them off left and right. Revas. If my picks come true, the Jets will be.
10 Jake: in a top alone of the AFC East at 2 and 0. Just saying. All right, well, if that happens, we'll be back next week. If not, we'll also be back next week.
