00:19 Jake: Welcome to the Jet Kingdom podcast running New York Jets podcast. Ever I'm Jake joining me for 302 times in a row. It's Justin. Just and I doing awesome Justin: It's Friday We got shit to do. Oh, that's a whole nother thing Friday movie come on man get with it. Yeah, I know ice cube give us it Jake: football last night Stayed up way too late watching a game that was really just not worth watching. It was a great game. No wire Justin: That was a good game no good week one game It was like week one early like didn't even get a full practice in That's what to be expected. A little delay, like the whole thing was all... The whole thing was terrible. Just delayed, but you didn't make it to the last five minutes. No, I felt sweet. You made it almost there, and then the last five minutes, there you go. There you go. Yeah, if they hadn't delayed it for 45 minutes. And the last five minutes were awesome. Jake: It was the best part of the game. You should rewatch it. I can on Game Pass. Go for it. This episode is sponsored by... Sign up for now at gamepass.com slash JK. Let me find if that worked. Yeah, right. No one's sponsoring us ever. Although we do get occasional people like, hey, I saw your podcast and I'd like to talk to you about sponsorship. I'm like, how much are you willing to pay us? And they're like... You know, a dollar, like, no. No, go away. Just go away, fuck off. Pay us real money or go away. That's right, I can't say fuck off if I have a sponsor, so I can if I don't. Justin: All right, so we have a huge agenda. What if some like condom company sponsored us? Then we could say fuck on and fuck off. Fuck off, Tori's. Fuck off. We learned what that meant this weekend. Yeah, I guess so. Fuck off. We just like ruined half of our market in the UK. That's true. Oh, wow. There they go. Jake: There's all this downloads. So we can do we have a big agenda. We're going to do a preseason wrap up because there was a preseason. We have Jets News, which comes on the preseason. We're going to talk about the 2018 season predictions. We're going to go every game to Jets. We're going to predict the season, predict the winner, predict the playoffs, predict the Super Bowl, the MVP. See how close we can get. Then we'll jump right in and do our week one Jet Kingdom.
03:13 Justin: pick them where we pick every game with the spread and then except for the Jake: Wow, wow, not far. Yeah, no, not far. Totally, Gino. Both those quarterbacks had dick pics taken. Yeah. And were sent out to the internet. Yeah. That's nice. Can we just? Justin: That's why we use those two. Jake: Yeah, that's why. Yeah. OK. Justin: All right, so let's talk about the preseason. Are we going to talk about that Nike commercial? Or are we just going to leave that alone? Jake: There's some major backlash this morning. Justin: were like, we're not gonna do something, I don't know. It's really about a lot of rating it. It's about a lot of people, but he's narrating it and he's The central figure and the last figure that you see at the end and his story and all that but yes Jake: Really a lot of story is just one line that you know Sometimes the idea is you have to sometimes sacrifice things to make change and to be a lot of people Justin: I'm glad Serena Williams made her way into that commercial. Yeah Jake: She's awesome. And the linebacker at us, or the safety, it was the safety out of Seattle. I don't know what time. What else? He's a linebacker. With no hands. Justin: He was starting on Sunday. How about that? Jake: No one's talking about that. No one's like, oh, this ad's all about that guy. Like, Sean Griffin or something like that. I don't know. Keep the conversation going. I like it. I know it's ruffling feathers and I kind of like that's roughly feathers. Sorry ruffle those feathers So we had a whole set of preseason games Yeah, I watched them all I am multiple times. I went to one sad Justin: Really? I mean I watched that giant game three times the condensed version and watch the whole thing live a there. Yeah, then on the condensed version. Because I really wanted to see what we had there Jake: in the first half. Well, I think we could just, let's just recap the whole thing. I just want to, and we're saying this last night, we should have saved it for the podcast. Sometimes we say that. Suck. I just want to say, and because I am sometimes very harsh. on the Jets and the organization. Sometimes they make really bad decisions. Question marks, sometimes. Sometimes. I have never been more impressed with the way that the Jets organization from top to bottom has handled this situation.
06:01 Jake: I feel like everything from moving up in the draft to grabbing the guy to... to the preseason, to starting, to the Teddy Bridgewater thing, which we can talk about. Like I have never, it's almost like they're not my team. Like our team fucks things up. Our team would have named Teddy the starter or something and I just like there's so many bad scenarios that the Jets would have done But for some reason and I think it's because they were in their lesson I mean again going back many years to the the Gino fiasco I think they were in the lesson. I just think and this is the new NFL They're going with the they're going with the with the Eagles second year top quarterback pick wins Super Super Bowl Seattle second year, not top pick, but rookie good quarterback, for very little, it's very little money, and then you put all the money around him, and then you just you go for it and you either get a guy that's good, jags are trying to do it, they got close right? Yeah jags got close. They are close. Eagles did it. Yes they made the championship game. Justin: We did it with this model where we made the championship game. Jake: But the reason the jags didn't do it is because they didn't get it. Their quarterback's not good enough. They didn't have enough confidence to go out there and play. Justin: You're missing the one point, Jake: which is the guy is actually gonna be good. Are you talking about our guy? Are you talking about this is what the house, that's how the house works. That's how it has to work. Justin: The guy has to be good. So like, we could have done this two years ago with Hackenberg. But he sucks. And now we really know he sucks. Like there's no doubt about it, right? You watched game four of the preseason. Seven of them. You saw him in there against third string, fourth string defense. Fumbling throwing picks like absurdly bad. Yep. So strike Mac like all the good stuff he's done. He's done some really stupid shit to like drafting him in the second round. Yeah, I was a miss that guy's out of the league. There's nobody who wants that guy on their team. This preseason he was on two Jake: teams. It shows you the difference you know between a I mean no one had him Justin: going in the second round. He never threw a pass in the regular season he never took a snap in the regular season and three teams have had him on the roster in less than three years. He's terrible. But that's why they didn't do it.
09:00 Justin: Right. You're all on their shit. No, but they should've done it. You gotta have the guy. Jake: They would've, if they, again. Justin: It wouldn't have worked with Petty. Would not have worked. Jake: They just should've played him. Because it would've worked. Because we would've seen he was terrible. And we would've been drafting a bunch of men. We knew he was terrible. Justin: Done. No. I could've told you that. Done. Petty's terrible. Done. Move on. Move on with your life. Jake: You got to get into the top. Everyone must hate this conversation. I was having on every part. I was right. And I'm still right. You have to move up. Justin: I said two things to you last night, right? I said, one, I think they did this one, right? Yep. And we both agree. They did this one great with Sam. They brought him along on the right like timeline and cadence and everything. Even though he missed like the first two days, like they didn't hold that against him necessarily. Maybe they did internally maybe they ribbed him a little but he seems to like just she's in like the Eli mold of I don't Know whatever this shit just bounces off me. I don't care He's not super charismatic He's not Baker Mayfield who will talk about and when we talk about hard knocks and sure little love affair that we had with him Before the draft and and now I can see why yeah very charismatic and you can play he's he But wait, let me go to the question that I... Well, I made the statement when we were watching the game, and your wife was there too, and I said, here's the deal. The Jets will win the Super Bowl in the next five years with Sam Darnold. as their quarterback, or they never will Jake: An example that breaks that and you couldn't what's every other quarterback who's won a Super Bowl that wasn't in the first five years So let's go you want to go back over the last seven two and just find quarterbacks with one after five I mean Rogers won it after five years Justin: Okay, I Jake: Mean, there's one ladies won it multiple times after five, but he won it in his first five years. That's the point You're saying that if you... No way! If you're saying that if he doesn't... Okay, you're saying if he doesn't win in the first five. Yes. What if he goes to the playoffs for the first... Not this year. Whatever, we'll get to a prediction. Let me ask you a question. Do you think Baltimore is happy right now with the Joe Flacco sitch? Why would you move up into this first round and draft a quarterback? So they're not so happy, right? Yeah, but were they 10 years with Flacco? Justin: Yeah, but he's still young. No, he won it in that fifth year. In the fifth year. Right. In the prove it year. In the year. Yeah. And then all the guys are tired and they paid him a bunch of money and now they're fucked. Jake: You know, it's not a bad theory. They had to go draft another guy. It's not a bad theory because you're trying to say underneath it... Is that if you if you're not successful enough in the first five they move on from you
12:04 Jake: But if you are but if you if you are successful then of course you can stick around you're good Justin: The the the way that economics of it works Stafford. I think he's never winning a Super Bowl. I think it's true rivers Not winning a Super Bowl. Sorry. Even even Derek Carr, who is on Oakland. I don't think he's ever winning a Super Bowl. Look what they just did. They fucked themselves. They had to let one of the best defensive players on the planet go. So they didn't want to pay them because they chose to pay the quarterback who hasn't proved a damn thing. That's dumb. That's just dumb. Like. Quarterback got to prove it to get paid. Yeah, like all these guys that get paid. It's like come on, but wait a second Jake: Here's the other thing like we have watched We know how hard it is to get even a above average quarterback and to play him So I mean it's taken the Jets if this is the guy is taking us how many years to get an above average quarterback I thought Sanchez was good. Yeah, that's ten years ago Justin: Yeah? That's when he was drafted 10 years ago, yeah. I mean, he played for five years for the Jads. Four, and then he got hurt in that stupid preseason. Jake: I don't think, I don't think manning one in the first five years. Justin: Different economic... uh The rules were different. The rules now favor what I am talking about. Did either man name, did Eli win in the first five? Um Eli may have. Big Ben did. Won it. Jake: Way after this. I mean because rothberg wanted early very early and the hot the hard part is like this whole thing Oh, well, I mean go back to Tampa Bay, but I guess that's going back too far I mean doing that is one so many of these is just like yeah Justin: Pittsburgh and both what about what about people in the Super Bowl? Jake: What if you just said okay getting the Super Bowl because I think if you have a quarterback who gets the Super Bowl although Justin: Well last year, I mean that was Philly. Philly got there regardless of who it was. So that was pretty good on them. So you were saying Cam Newton never going to win a Super Bowl? I don't think so. Okay. I think the way that they get paid, they meaning quarterback, is hard to then structure enough around them. to make it work. They have to be so good that they swing like three to four games to the winning side. Never went to Super Bowl. Don't think so. Jake: He was close. Now it's over. But he but he got there. He did in the after the five year mark. Way after. Not way. Well, he did get there. Yes. So I don't know. Justin: I don't think that's a it's an interesting thing. That was the different. So they did it different.
15:00 Justin: where they they won with a quarterback making a bunch of money and a bunch of young dudes that just happened to work out really well that year like a lot of rookies second year players on defense but you know they they did put up a whopping 12 points last night with their quarterback that's making hundreds of millions of dollars. He's a... So let's pay him 120 million dollars to score 12 points. Why not? You know, one point per million dollars. Jake: So it'll be interesting to see this year as the teams who just paid off... I mean, there are, I think, like four teams over the off-season paid their quarterbacks. Big money. Big money. So, Rodgers, who just got paid. Justin: There were early, way early. Jake: Yeah, there's tons of early ones. Car. Justin: Car got his money. Dumbasses chose car. Oh, let's call it cousins got his money. Yeah, cousins got his. Who else got a huge? That's another one who'll never win. Sorry to say. He's on a good team, but I don't think he'll win. OK. Well, so let's talk about the preseason, which you're trying to talk about. Oh, right. Yeah, preseason. So Josh McCown better Started the first game. Yep played one series Sat his ass down And then we came in game one we came with Teddy didn't we? Yeah, so Teddy was the backup and then played pretty well he did Teddy was impressive Jake: Let's talk about the Teddy thing. So Teddy got traded away for a third to the Saints where he backs up true breeze. Which can you give me the credit of which when we were talking about the day before you were like, the Saints are a good spot for Teddy. Yep. So that happens. Because we were talking about like where what team has a is on a is on a mission. Is close to, you know, in the playoff hunt could get to Super Bowl, but has someone if they go down They need to have the foals on the team. I think Teddy's much better than Nick foals and I was like, yeah, I'm like who backs up two breeds. I'm like, I don't even know that's the problem of a running quarterback This guy named Hill. Yeah, that's just that's not weird. That's not happening No, you have someone you need to have someone who who has played games Yeah, like real games and he proved he could play without getting hurt Justin: at least in the preseason. So we spent a million bucks, basically. We paid a million dollars to trade from the sixth to the third. Jake: And the thing is, I mean, every year that was an option, every team would do it. Yeah, every team would pay a million. It was fantasy football. It was great. I mean, we're in a we're in another league, not the chicken league, which we are in, but another league where there's trading and it's it's a keeper league and you can trade picks. And it's just fun to watch all the season like the beginning of the season like in August, July, August, people just trading picks trading around moving up in these rounds. And I was like, that's what it felt like. It felt like he took a they've had a keeper, we have a three keeper league, they had a keeper. It's
18:00 Jake: like this is a great value keeper. Can't keep them. So before before we draft, I gotta like trade them off. It just felt like he's felt like MacCagnus playing fantasy football, which I just love. I love that move. And the writing was on the wall. Like once they got Sam, it's like... Justin: Yeah, it didn't even matter though. Everyone knew they were drafting a quarterback anyway, whether it was Sam or Baker or Rosen. Like one of those guys... Jake: It was supposed to be a smokescreen. Justin: Like, we have Teddy, but you know, Jake: we didn't know he could play. I think, you know, overall the preseason... I didn't actually get to see a lot of it because I was traveling. I watched a lot of it. I watched all the replays obviously, all the condensed versions. I just looking at Sam Darnold play makes me think like he just looks like a competent quarterback like he it's not like he's blowing he's not doing anything like oh my god that's the greatest thing ever saw I wish I had seen I just wish I'd seen a little bit more like I'm so excited for Monday cuz I Justin: actually just get to watch him play an entire entire game with a game plan and with starters with the starting line and that matters and it matters right it's a big lights big show let's see if he has composure he never played behind the entire line like Beecham never played in the preseason right so his left tackle the guy who's protecting him on pass plays from the blind side never played. Jake: So that'll be fun and interesting. And he was throwing to, you know, he was throwing to some dudes like they're not on the team. Justin: Yeah, like he made some guys look pretty good. I thought put some good tape out there for that guy McBride. I thought he was pretty good. There was some. Guys who were really disappointing though like you read about him like oh They're lighting it up in training camp, and then you watch them play, and you're like hmm like we watched Cannon yeah, who made the team yep? We watched him in the only biggest squares on IR, but okay probably but we watched the scrimmage And we're like whoa this cannon guy. He is good And then he gets in the game and it's like he's just average. Yeah, probably not even. And he's a terrible special teams player. Please do. I mean, he should not be returning cash and he cannot catch puns. So no point. Jake: So we went through it. So today's so fourth game came about writing was on the wall. I guess that's my only little thing with the Jets. They kind of play like, though, we're not going to name the starter. But when you put my count out there. Teddy's gone, you put McConaughter to start the fourth game, and then you pick up a guy off the street just to play. They were gonna have to pick that. It was the most obvious thing that Sam was starting. But I'm so excited. I can't tell you as a Jets fan, it's been 10 years. And it's since I was talking to my other buddy who's a Seahawks Falcons fan, and I was talking about it and I'm like... Not since that second year going in after we had gone off the AFC Championship.
21:02 Jake: I was like, we got this second year quarterback, we can do it. Like, and Rex Ryan and like, I was like, our defense is gonna be amazing. And we're gonna be able to go all the way back to the AFC Championship and maybe to the Super Bowl. I had the most hope. And I had. I felt like for a, and you had hoped for a long time. Amazing how fast it went from the top of those two peak years to just the shit show that it was for many years. But I feel like, that's what I feel like as a fan. I feel fat. They made a few mistakes there. I'm ready to go to every game. I'm ready to see this. I'm ready to like, I'm just so excited. And we'll talk about like what we, I only want one thing. I want two things out of the season. All right, we were talking about these last night. This is my two thing. I'm going to say this over and over again, because I say this is what I want every season. First of all, I want week one Sam or week 17 Sam to be better than week one Sam. You ought to be. Right. I want to see a week 17 Sam who does things that like he made mistakes in week one, just better. So we look at him like, oh, you're better. And two. . April, let's call it April 27th, 2019. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Mike Mayock, Mike Mayock gets on the cock and he's like, all right, let's look at the Jets needs. Let's put up the Jets needs. And I just want him to go, well, they're all set. They got Sam Darnold last year. They're all set at quarterback. Now they got to focus on, and that's it. And I might just- Is that your Mike Mayock impression? Giz my pants if they say that. You probably will. They're set at quarterback. Justin: That's what I want him to say. Yeah, they they seem to be. It was interesting. Again, I've watched way too much preseason because of Sam, right? Especially those first three games. And there were a couple of plays in the Giants game where he stepped up through the pocket, it threw some traffic and like ran for a first down or just like moved around a bit. And I was really watching it the third time just to really watch his feet and watch his hands. And he was doing he was doing the thing that they said he had a lot of trouble with in college, but he was doing it correctly. So in college, he turned the ball over a lot. Second year, first year he didn't. Right. But a lot of it was like. fumbles. Yeah, they weren't necessarily interceptions. They were more fumbles. And it was like he doesn't hold the ball with two hands. Like he's moving around in the pocket a lot and the ball is just like in one hand, like ready to go. Right. Not anymore. Like he's been coached. He's got the ball in the two hands. And it was so funny because I was watching. I was watching Notre Dame play Michigan last week and it was in the fourth quarter and Michigan had the ball and they're down a touchdown and they're trying to drive on Notre Dame and the quarterback is just standing there with like the ball in one hand trying to like just wiggle around a little Sack strip fumble recovered game over right and I looked at my wife who's sitting with me
24:02 Justin: Just not really paying attention zero attention and I'm like, that's why you got to hold the ball with two hands She's like noted, you know Whatever But I was like, oh that is like a thing to pay attention to and watch and does he regress does he? sort of lose that coaching a little bit because it's not natural or is it now habitual to the point where he gets it he does a lot of little like little things like shoulder twitches if you watch real carefully he he's maneuvering people already around like that touchdown pass he threw to Terrell Pryor was a real really freakin nice play like he stood there His main reads were to these tight end, double tight ends that were running posts like across the field to the right and Pryor was coming under them to the left. And he knew the whole time that either he had one of the two tight ends or they would clear out the whole field and he would just dump it to Pryor and that was that. And he just knew it. He had it. Like he gets it. It's very fun. Jake: It's going to be fun. Again, it it. I'm just I'm trying not to get like to to like over the hype. Justin: I'll take three and 13 as long as he plays. All right. Although I don't think the defense will be very happy with that. No. All right. Anything else? Any interesting cuts? Just. that we cut Hanson went to the Patriots that's always scary when that happens because it reminds me of fucking Danny Woodhead and just the Patriots are like the masters of taking like that I'm just gonna say it's racist but that white receiver and Making them in good thing. Yeah, like they just do that if he turned out to be an Edelman I'll kill myself. He'll be like a Chris Hogan You know like Chris Hogan was on hard knocks and they call him 24 7 cuz he was always open Yeah, and then he's like catching everything from Tom Brady last year until he got hurt But like could Hanson be Chris who the fuck is Chris Hogan? You know what I mean? Nobody Jake: And then we placed Guiart on IR, so he's not... The Elder will come back after week six? Six, I believe. Talk a little bit about Hard Knocks, I guess. Yeah, I enjoyed me some Hard Knocks. Justin: I watched all of them. Me too. I was extremely impressed with Miles Garrett. Yeah, so impressive what an impressive guy yeah, just attitude everything about him Jake: Wow that is him that is the number one overall pick him coaching up the other guy. Oh my god. R The, Yeah Justin: Yeah, the line or the Lyman number 44 in that last And him showing him techniques and like this is a second year player.
27:03 Justin: It's not like he's been around the block like this isn't, you know, Kaleis Campbell or something. Jake: We saw his first play. Justin: We did. And he sacks. Sacks. Josh McCown sucks. Right. We saw it. We were there. Wow. Is he impressive? Right? I mean. That's the type of guy he's just a silent assassin. I, I, I. He talks. you listen. Jake: I was really, I liked watching it. It was good. It's good to have Baker Mayfield. It was good to, you know, I just think that Hugh Jackson is just a waste of space. I just don't know why that guy has a team. Things have come out of his mouth. You're like, what are you saying? He has something on the owner. He must like naked pictures. They did bring in the new GM Justin: Yep, right and Dorsey he was new this year Jake: He's an idiot Dorsey that guy that gum chewing seem around cosmic in the same outfit He would wear the same outfit his little shorts in this and a sweatshirt You don't wear a sweatshirt and shorts you wear whatever you want. Just dumb He just looked. I think he's put acquaint. Justin: I think he's put together a good roster. That's a talented team. They should win games. Jake: They're not, but they should. They're gonna lose games because of and the head. Justin: It's like, I think they're over unders like six something like that on the year like six wins really? Jake: For the balance? Well, because they had zero last year. They have won four total in the last three years. I think they'll win. I think they'll do fine. Justin: I Mm. then they'll be like five and five, and they'll be like, huh, and then they'll go six and five, and like, we're still mathematically, and then they'll be six and six, and then, huh. Jake: All right, what else, what other takeaways? I mean, I think the thing for me for Hard Knocks was a little bit, it was a little bittersweet, because watching Baker Mayfield, both his attitude and his sort of personality. I could easily see him being, you know, on our own version of of our Knox. I don't know. I don't know why that guy is not starting. Like he looked just as good as. He looks like a starter. He's a starter. I think this is going to be the year. I think we'll be it's going to be fun. There's five quarterbacks trapped in the first round. I could see three of them.
30:01 Jake: Well, Rosen's going to start at some point. Justin: Oh, yes, start because Bradford don't get hurt. Jackson may start towards the end of the year. We'll see with Flacco. I mean Josh Allen has to start. I think Peterman starting with one, yes. Because Josh Allen's that bad that he couldn't beat out Nate Peterman. Although they did trade away AJ McCaring. Because who they traded for. Yeah. Yeah. So they did the anti Teddy like they did it wrong. Jake: They traded for a guy. They did it the bills way. Yeah. I don't know. I would put Josh Allen. I mean, Josh Allen, look, Peter, you're a man, Peter. Justin: We want to get five in a half. And I thought, yeah, so that's who is better than Josh Allen at this point. I mean, I'm I'm excited for our to go through our season because they're the team that like, Jake: I just don't know how they're going to win any games either. How are they going to win? Running backs like 38. He's one. He's one injury away from now we're playing again. And you know it's coming too. But yeah, I was sitting there a little bit, a little bit. I think Jess fans who kind of fell in love with Baker Mayfield, I will say he's not a big guy. No, he's not a big guy. You could tell that he was not a big guy. And I, but like Sam's like he's that prototypical size whereas Mayfield he just looks small out there um especially next to that whatever third stringer who was he was like probably the best one in years But but I wish there was coaches that I thought were good coaches like that watching that coach just that offensive line coaches Joke that that guy has a how many things did they cut that that how many racist things that that guy say? Every other minute they're like, oh you can't put you can't say that on TV. He's like what? I can't even say it. All right, so that was the offseason. I'm so excited Let's get to let's talk about the let's make some predictions Last thing we had our draft jet Kingdom draft. Yeah, we did this year. We're doing decimals kind of fun I don't know decimals decimals are fun. What how'd your who's your jet? I should be like standard Who's your jet for the year? So for those who don't know, I'll do a little, we'll just talk about this a little bit. We don't really talk about Tund during the season. So every year we have a league that we fill with Jets fans and you have to, the rules are you have to play an active jet on your roster and you also cannot play someone who's
33:00 Jake: playing against the real Jets that week. So if you have Tom Brady as your quarterback and the Jets are playing Tom Brady. and we whatever we're playing him you can't play it you have to put them you have to take them off Justin: so a-- a a Jake: Sign them. So I had the ninth pick you had you the first I did. Oh, yeah, you're fucked. I'm not fucked I don't care how many how many leagues do you have Bell as your to two of your three leagues? Justin: Okay, so my jet is I think I have I think I have trail prior and I have The tight end Tomlinson your Tomlinson. Yeah, so I mean he's an actual like he's actually on the team He probably won't do much, but at least he's on the team I take a zero at tight end I yeah, or I'll play prior and maybe he'll be good Jake: I don't know zero tight end theory won me this league once so I'm gonna do it again Chris her I had who that guy that had Like literally never even hit the field or he's on the field once I've Chris Herndon tight end So I'm gonna do the zero tight end theory this year But interesting I had the ninth pick and I've been listening all this podcast about fantasy and I've never done this and they're like here's the zero RB strategy. I'm like, what's that? and it's where you have a low pick in the first round all the best court are running backs are gone but then these great wide receiver on one side and then hit who Jones on the bomb coming back and i was that's kinda fun but. and Royce my running back. Justin: So it's kind of like, meh, meh, meh, meh. How cool, how cool for me. Jake: Yeah, well. You're a fucking ass. All right, are you ready to make some predictions? Yeah. All right, so we're going to predict the entire jet's, game by game. Game by game. And then go hit what we think the AFC East is going to end up looking like. Then we're going to talk about the playoffs, who makes the playoffs, and then we talk the pack and then we talk the the Super Bowl and who wins Super Bowl in Atlanta this year, which I think I'll be down there for it, which will be fun. Again, how cool for you. You're such a dick. All right, let's go. Justin: Week one, this is an easy one. Well, wait, shouldn't we not talk about week one? We'll come back to week one? No, no, because glared to do, we have to play the season. Win. Jake: Yeah, I have a little feeling that, I don't really like those lions. If we were playing it at home, if I was at home opener, I'd feel like we really, like we could beat them. I'm a little worried about us on the road, Monday night, rookie quarterback. But I feel like we can win this. I guess it's just, I can't feel like we can lose straight off, but yeah, I feel like we win.
36:01 Jake: I feel like we start off the season one with a win. So, okay. Justin: Cool. Week two. By the way, when Sam takes that first snap. Yeah. He will. He will officially be the youngest quarterback to ever start a national football league game. Great. Jake: So that's at Detroit first week. Second week we have our home opener against the Dolphins, who I just don't think are going to be a good team this year. TUNO! TUNO JETS! I think the Jets go 2-0. Look at those JETS 2-0s. Sneaky sneaky! This is gonna be all supposed to talk. I do think that's the end for a while though. Because week 3 we have Cleveland. Thursday night, short week at Cleveland. It's not their home opener, I don't think. I think we're gonna lose that one just cuz of when Really you have the jet three and no jets. You're so wrong Then we go on the road again, at least at least you have ten days for this one against Jacksonville I just think those two defenses will be too much We're not gonna have firepower to beat them. I think we lose against Jacksonville or two and two crushed them last year for what that's worth I think we lose on the road Three and one. Okay Then we have Denver back at home. I rather take Denver At home any day of the week. I don't know what that team is. I don't know what the Denver team is It's his case Keenum's enigma. I mean Paxson Lynch got cut. I think it's their defense that they're counting on Yeah, I just feel a case Keenum's just I don't know he was good enough to like Get that team to the playoffs. Justin: He was good enough to make the AFC Championship game. Or the NFC Championship. Jake: I think our little I think our losing streak keeps going. And I think we lose that one. when you give us a four and one. That's right. You're an idiot. But we come back. Then we sorry we. Yeah, we have two, three home games in a row, that's nice. We have the Colts. So I assume that's the Andrew Luck Colts at this point. Should be. And I don't think they're going to be good. They stink. I think they'll score, but I just think we'll be able to beat them. So I was winning that one. I was at three and three. Justin: Win, five and one Jets. Jake: God, you're just stupid. You better have to lose every other game. All right. Week seven, we have Minnesota again. We're getting the tough teams in our house, which I think is well, Jacksonville is a little tough. I think we lose that one. They're a good team. I think that's going to be the that's the cousins bowl because it'll be like the team that turn over because it came out, by the way, that he turned out a bigger offer from the Jets. So fuck him. I hope you break his leg. You hear that, right? We offered him more guaranteed money.
39:00 Jake: You didn't. It was in his, it was in one of his like, you know, documentaries, he, the Jets offered him more guaranteed money. He used it as a leverage to get more money out of Minnesota but we had the highest offer and he turned us down. So fuck him. Justin: We have Sam. I still think this is a loss. Minnesota is really good. I think it's a lot. Jake: Five and two, I guess, I have us. I'm now at three and four. But we go on the road to Chicago. We're going. And I think Chicago's terrible. I think even with Mac and whatever, I think Travinsky. I don't like Travinsky. I'm going to say it now. I don't think he's good. I didn't like him last year. I just don't. I don't know. So I think we win in Chicago because they suck. I think we lose. All right, so what do you have us now? Five and three. I'm at four and four. All right, then we have in Miami, November 4th, just don't know if you can sweep the dolphins. We have a real tough time sweeping the dolphins, so I think we lose this one. Justin: I think we win. Jake: Then... heading into the only team I think we sweep this year easily is the Bills. So I think we win against the Bills. That's at home. That'll be great. Me too H I. and Rest of our season sucks. Okay, we win the bye week then on The week which is nice to have a bye week before the New England game like that's like get a little you know, whatever Have New England at home I Just think knowing was just too good for us in this week So we lose go five and six same Z's seven and four I think actually traveling to Tennessee. I don't think we're gonna win that game either So I think we lose a nice seven and five. Okay But Buffalo still sucks a week 14. We're gonna beat them same Z's eight and five But I think Houston it's a Saturday night game Saturday afternoon game Justin: You can do it. stacked defensive there how of course it Jake: yet week if 50 they could be have zero Justin: quarterbacks and I think they're well I think they're well coached too but anyway I'm losing that gets us to eight and six I'm now at we have Green Bay at Jake: home this is gonna mean something to Green Bay I think they're gonna be in a
42:00 Jake: tough division this year with Vikings Lions are always nipping at their heels. So I think they're going to need every win, even though it's cross division. But I think they're too good for us. I don't think we can beat Green Bay. Me neither. 8 and 7. Then we play New England on Sunday, the last game. I would love for this game to mean something. I do think it's going to mean something for us, because we're going to want to win to feel good about our season. I don't think knowing it's going to give a shit, they're going to be way ahead. I think we're going to squeak one out and win against England to win the game. Justin: Lose eight and eight. Go from seven and three to eight and eight. Todd Bowles gets fired. That's my prediction. Really? That's your sitting there at seven and three at the bye. And then we end eight and eight and that that's goodbye to Bowles. Jake: And you don't think that's a quarterback thing. Justin: That's a that's a how the fuck. Are we seven and three and not in the playoffs you're gone, dude, right? And it will be a like a kind of let's follow the Rams model To the tea bring in the QB bring in an offensive court bring in an offensive coach We haven't had one in forever ever you've just drafted a guy third overall to be the quarterback one Al Grow technically was an offensive coach. He coached for one year. God, that's a long time. Because all the rest, Herm, Mangini, Rex, Bowles, all defensive guys. Yeah. Jake: I don't know, I don't know if we're gonna fire him goals. I feel like he's made all the right decisions this year. Yeah, that's fun and stuff. But I have us going seven and nine and winning at the end, I don't think he gets fired. If this prediction, this thing, if Sam looks good, if we won and we're seven and nine and... And Sam Darnold looks good and we win. And the end of the season, we look we look better than we did the beginning. I don't think he gets fired. Justin: If he goes the way that I predicted. I think he'll be fired. Yes. If he if you tell me, hey, they're going to be eight and eight. I'm like, oh, he keeps his job. Jake: But if you tell me he's going to go. So we lose the seven and three and we win the next eight games. You're like, he's yeah, it's just about how we finish the season. Justin: Yeah, he got a that's a hard schedule after that. Bye. Look at those games. New England. Tennessee they're gonna be better remember they made the playoffs last year as a good team Jake: I know the Buffalo is not a team. Justin: Well, Houston was not and... Did Houston give the playoffs last year? No, and Green Bay didn't either. Oh shit. That's weird. I know. No, that's weird. They're perennial playoff teams, but they didn't. But Green Bay didn't because their quarterback missed half the year.
45:02 Justin: Again, I'm not really about the wins and losses this year. Jake: You're more about the Jims and Joes? Jims and Joes. Sams and Darnolds. But I think you can't have a team. Winning zero games is not optional. So you can't say that. It's like, I don't care how many games we win. Because the mentality of the team also, I think it's come out that, so we couldn't get Mac. We tried to make a big play for him. We couldn't get Cousins. I think part of it is teams. Thanks for watching. Like we offered a guy millions more dollars and he wouldn't come to us. Part of it is because if it's a bad team, people don't wanna come to your team. And we have a ton of money. So I kinda wanna end the season. I'm gonna reverse that. I wanna have a good season because I want free agents to look at us and go, oh, I can go there. And if we get a few free agents, we can be in the playoff hunt. If we win two games this year, no one's gonna look at us and like, ooh, that's a good team I wanna go play for. for. Right you want to be competitive so I want to have a competitive season All right, who do you have make who do you have going into the playoffs? Who do you have the eight? Let's go NFC first. Oh, man I Justin: Gotta get to my thing here. Hold on Good good job. Well the NFC good job. Where do you want to start and see your AFC? I just said NFC so let's start with the NFC because I said it Man, the NFC is fucking stacked, dude. The NFC is really legitimately far superior to the AFC. When I was looking at this, I was like, fuck. So in the NFC East, yeah, I think Philly wins that division, but I think the Giants. Washington are both pretty good. I think Washington improved. Actually think they have a better quarterback than they had last year. Wow because you were all in on cousins. This is like you're like you've reversed your tune on him. Age. I think Alex Smith has a superior career to him and yeah he's perfectly competent. Jake: The West, I have the Giants by the way. I think this is the comeback year. They are down here. They're pretty tough. Justin: They're pretty tough. I think they win the East. I think Philly wins it. Then NFC West. I think the Rams probably win the entire conference. They're the best team in the conference. I think they have them coming in to give the Rams coming in second. In their division. No, no, no. In the whole conference. Oh, OK. In the north. Um, this is the hardest one to call. Um, Minnesota's really stinking good. You just said how you don't like cousins, how he likes my. Better than they did a little carousel and he's better than the guy that he replaced. Like in Washington, they got a better quarterback. And in Minnesota, they got a better quarterback. Jake: And they got a better quarterback in Denver. Everybody got a better quarterback. Justin: Everybody got a better quarterback. Jake: Weird, right?
48:00 Jake: Well, yeah, that means some of them had really bad quarterbacks or at least Denver. Well, Denver had a terrible quarterback. Yeah, they cut Paxil Lynch, by the way. Yeah. Good draft. Weird cuts. Weird cuts. First round. Diane's. Davis Webb. Webb, who's now, I think, on our practice squad. He is. Justin: That's not terrible to have a second year quarterback. Lynch got cut whatever. Yeah, Lynch. We avoided that landmine. Yeah, anyway, so moving on NFC West or NFC North I think Green Bay will win it But Minnesota is pretty stinking good. So keep that mind. I was winning it And then the South, I like New Orleans. I think New Orleans is really good, really good. They they've got it all. Jake: I think it all comes down to them for it's one player. It's just whether Drew Brees at 40 years old can play at that level. If he can, there's no that defense is good. He's smart. He's got a run game. Doesn't really matter what kind of talent they have. They have they have enough talent at wide receiver and they have Damario Davis. So that's that's great. Justin: So those are my. Winners cards. This is where it gets super fucking difficult because. In every in every single one of these divisions, I could pick out a second team that I really like. But unfortunately, only six make the playoffs. Really? Is that how it works? So. While foothold like the Giants, I don't think it's their year to make a playoffs. I do like Washington also, I don't think they're gonna make it either. So Philly is the only one from the NFC East. Same with the West, I think it's just the Rams with San Francisco maybe a year away. In the North, Minnesota makes it. And then in the south, I think Carolina makes it. Yeah, I think so. So I have... They're coming off of that like, kind of weird, like, you know... Very good, but not good? Yeah, I think they're in figure stuff out this year, Carolina. Jake: So I have Packers Giants, Rams, Saints winning, and then I have Falcons and Vikings. As my two uh, you do not have the eagles making the playoffs. I have I have the super bowl slump hitting them That's a little strange And there's while they're starting exactly where it is Which is I should have picked the eagles because like the super bowl winner always comes out and looks good that first game because they're so hyped up, it's at their game, this like thing, I don't know, man, that Carson Wentz is a hell of a player. Justin: I will tell you I want to go back. I'm gonna roll back to put tape. This is not an Andrew luck situation How how how is it's an ACL and that's a common injury now Yeah, guys come back from it. I get it, but not this quick Yeah, they do We'll see but he doesn't have it was proven last night that he doesn't actually have to come back for probably four weeks
51:05 Justin: They won a Super Bowl with the guy who's playing now. So who cares gonna lose A lot of games. They're why you'll see you'll see I don't understand that but okay. That's my prediction This is my prediction. They didn't lose last night. They didn't what what okay, they're gonna lose a lot of games. What's a lot Well, I don't think they make the playoffs seven and nine. Oh, I will Gladly bet you any amount of money that they will be better than seven and nine. All right gladly Any amount of money? What do you want about any amount of money? Let's not do money. Let's do things physical. I'll take this off. We'll take this off. No fuck that. This needs to be recorded. What are we better? It's a bet. We'll take off what we're betting offline. Okay, I'll wait for a bigger. I'm not an nine. What are you stupid? You'll Jake: see. Oh, let's go. Let's go. The AFC who do you have the AFC card? I don't want to do Justin: at least yet. So I'll start with the South. Do the east yet? No, the east last. All right, so I like Tennessee. Isn't that your team you picked last year? Yeah, I'm always a year off on the south. Yeah, Jake: remember I had the Jags the year before? Yeah, I think I'm gonna go from the year from years ago. I think the Jags will be right back in it. I think they'll... I think their quarterback will be their demise. I think they're gonna have a better quarterback by the end of the season. Justin: We'll see if that's a real thing or not. But I like Tennessee. I like the rookie head coach. I like Mike Vrabel. I think he's... I remember from Hard Knocks a couple years ago when he was an assistant. Head coach, I thought. He was an assistant defensive coordinator and then they promoted him to defensive coordinator. Um, and he knows, he knows what the fuck he's talking about. So I like Tennessee. They made the playoffs last year. They have a young quarterback. They're ready to roll. I think that's a good team. Jake: I don't know if I'm totally as sold as I was on Marcus. Mary Oda. I think that draft class is looking worse and worse. Justin: He played well in the playoffs. Well enough to win. Um, Didn't they win a game? Even they did win a game They won a game in the playoffs and their coach got fired that shows how shitty that coach was Alright in the north. I think Pittsburgh takes it just by default. Yep I have them I don't think they're that great, but I think they're gonna win that division easy This AFC sucks. You'll see this is ridiculous the West Fuck, they all, I don't know, Kansas City with homes. Homes? I guess. Chargers! Chargers win the west. Why? They never win anything. They're just struck by bad luck and injuries. They're... well, that's something to have. I think they'll win the west. Okay. And then east? Jake: Patriots okay, so why are we gonna pick that last? Excited Martin five Patriots Patriots Steelers Jags Chargers, okay, and then that was my order. I mean
54:02 Justin: Now what with the playoffs wild cards? Bad there's like six NFC teams that are better than the next two teams we name Oh, Jacksonville and. I don't even know, man. I was struggling with this. There's not six good teams in the AFC. Jake: And the Jets are going to make it then. Justin: You just had him at eight and eight, though. I'd love to just say chats. Oakland's not gonna make it. Sorry. I don't think the chart. I think they're just snake bitten. Denver's not gonna be that good. No one in the north. Alright, come on. Pick a team. I'll pick another AFC South team. Either of them. Jake: Pick A-Team. Houston. Okay. I have the Texans and Bengals in the playoffs. I think the Bengals are gonna be sneaky good this year. And they can lose in week one in the playoffs. Yeah, well that's what they do. But they'll keep their coach because they're stupid. Ridiculous. Alright, who do you have in the Super Bowl? Justin: And their quarterback. Well, in the AFC I have the Patriots because they're the only good team. And then... Yeah, sorry. Just is what it is. And I have New Orleans in the NFC. That's. Pat Saints. I like the Saints. Wow. Jake: I think they're really good. They're going to call it the 80 bowl because it's a 40 plus a 40. Justin: I think New Orleans is really stinking good everywhere. Like every spot. They're good. And we can't them tough with petty like we played them tough Jake: We were we we lost we played them tough like we played them tough in the first half Yeah, we're with petty Justin: Yeah, but we really didn't heady. We didn't really score heady. I Understand but you can only play that way Lost right with petty by how many points did we lose like 12 points? Yeah, we lost like we were in the dome like I thought we were gonna get blown the fuck out Why do you need it to defense played fairly decently? But at the same time we couldn't stop them like they had huge plays on us Yeah, they big breakaway plays tons of them. Yeah, that's a good team. All right. I like New Orleans over the Patriots. Let's get a score and an MVP. The record. Drew Brees will be the MVP. Probably won't deserve it, but they'll give it to him. And the score will be somewhere in the mid 20s, 26, 23. Will be the one the lowest scoring.
57:01 Jake: Super Bowls ever. I don't think so. Oh my god. Yeah, I was just looking at the Super Bowls It's like that's that's really really low. I don't believe that to be true 41 33 24 34 28 24 10 but that was a tank but 28 24 43 8 Justin: 34 31, you know 43 8 is actually less than 26 23 It's a low, that's a low scoring. Jake: But anyway, and the Saints, I don't know. I don't think that at all. I have Packers. And Jags. I have your Jags. Again, I think they're going to switch. I think they're going to have a quarterback, a different quarterback by that point. Who? I just I don't know. I think they're going to. That doesn't happen. I don't know. The guys aren't just available. They're going to trade for somebody like who Teddy Bridgewater. I mean, that actually is a great idea for them. They should have done that. They should trade us for Teddy Bridgewater. They should have somebody because that team is ready. They've got wide receivers. They got running backs. They've got defense. They just don't have this fucking quarterback and they keep putting this ass clown out there. They don't have wide receivers, by the way. They do. Name them. Make a loose Hearns. Justin: Yep. Name the starting wide receivers for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Stop, stop. I see you Googling. I'm not Googling. Just literally name them. I don't know. Name one of them. No. They have all these receivers though. Jake: I feel like they have receivers. Oh yeah, who are they? I don't know. Justin: You can't even name one. Jake: It's not my team. Justin: Dude, you can't just say they have all these receivers and they'll not be able to name one. Jake: I'm gonna look. Justin: I'm looking. Yeah, name them. Uh, name all these great receive. Oh, Moncrief. Oh, Moncrief. And Lee. Lee's injured for the year. Why is he on the fucking roster then? Lee's out the whole year. Jake: That's not so great. Justin: No, it's not. Is it? Right. And I got Jenkins. You're right. That's not so great. No, it's pretty. I'm still going to pick up. Pretty not great. Actually, it's below average Tommy will hand in as a full well, they're gonna run the shit out of the ball Jake: Yeah, well, they can't throw the ball. Hey, I guess I thought they had better. I thought that you sure he's out Justin: Yes, ACL done He's sitting right here done. I am done. He's on the roster. Yeah, he's not gonna play this year. He's out done Keenan Cole is their starting one of their starting receivers and I don't even know the name of the other one Moncrief is the other. Moncrief who's a what a washout in cults with the Colts so Andrew Luck couldn't make them good but like Blake Bortles will. Andrew Luck didn't play last year or two years ago. He did. He played. He played with Moncrief. Yeah, for a little bit. So he couldn't make him good, but Blake Bortles is going to go out there and Jake Jordles him. Yep. OK, that was a little Easter egg there for those who are in the know. Good. Jake: I still think they're weird. Justin: If you're a fan of Jake Jordles, I'm a fan of you. Jake: Packers, 37. It's going to be OK. 33.
1:00:02 Jake: Relax is the MVP. Okay, that's my thing. All right. That's my prediction Justin: Well, I have the Saints and you have wait you have the Jags winning No losing losing to Aaron Rodgers. Yeah, and yeah then when you look at it, right then MC is just far superior At least before the season starts and all the shit happens, but it's way better Jake: Stacked! I mean, your prediction of us being seven and three at the buy is like the most absurd thing I've ever, I mean, you've picked the Jessica Super Bowl many times. Yeah. So those are some of your worst picks. So like you effing at me. Justin: I took this seriously. I think we're gonna go eight and eight, but I think it's gonna go the way I think it's gonna go. No. And I think 8 and 8 is fine, it's just the circumstances around how it's gonna happen. And I don't want this Rex-Ryan bullshit where, let's win one for Rex to get to 8 and 8 so that we can then celebrate him staying on the team so we can then go 4 and 12. Fuck that. If we go 7 and 3 and end 8 and 8, I want what happened to Mangini to happen to Bulls. Cuz man genie started out the same and we didn't make the playoffs and it wasn't even his fault Grant fire just was like oh my bicep destroyed. I'm not gonna tell anybody cuz I've got this consecutive game streak Jake: Asshole asshole. All right, tiny little go make some pics now. Let's make our week one pics got a little Justin: Pinky Dick. All right. So for those not in the know, we've got the Jet Kingdom Pick'em. That's on Yahoo. On Yahoo. Check the Jet Kingdom Twitter. Jake: Yep. It's pool 24896. Yeah. Justin: And the last one is podcast or check my feed. Or check the Jet Kingdom feed. I posted it there. There's links, passwords, whatever. So... We missed last night. Philly hosted Atlanta. Philly was favored by two. I thought Atlanta might sneak one out there. Me too. It was very close. At the end, they had their shot. But Philly won 18 to 12 and covered. Did you have Philly or Atlanta? Jake: I Had Atlanta by the way, we both start you ever been done that this thing better than me like any season We've ever played have you actually had a better probably not last year probably not. Okay. I'm not great at this Justin: That's good, but I do understand lines and how to read them which you don't sometimes Sometimes I have you on I have you on tape sometimes going Not be able to talk stop the same medication. Yeah, you know you take your meds. You don't take your meds sometimes you You can read sometimes you can't. Jake: So for those who are paying attention, we do, every week we do the pick them where we read and go through all the games with the spread. We pick them on this, but we leave out the AFC East. We come back, we do that, because our throne picks. Justin: Always a challenge for me. Yes, so let's see. So my job is always to call you out when you. Let's do it, let's do it, one o'clock baby.
1:03:00 Justin: First of all, we've got one, two, three. Four four o'clock game. Nice. We've got a Sunday night game and we've got two Monday night games for your viewing satisfaction Jake: I mean this chances me paying any attention to the second Monday night game is like Justin: Less than zero pretty fun game though. The Rams are a fun team like I'll definitely be early Monday night game Well, yeah, that's cuz there's the late one. I know Which I love. Oh, I don't like. I'll be up till two in the morning watching this crap. All right. Let's do it. Pittsburgh at the Cleve. Pittsburgh on the road favored by four. We're not sure if Le'Veon Bell is going to even be in the building. We're pretty sure he won't. Jake: Yeah. Justin: Still like Pittsburgh. What do you think they should do? I can sit out for 10 weeks if he wants to. I think that Dave made their stance known and I'm generally in favor of players okay because look man this guy's putting his literally putting his life on the line playing this sport He can be injured and not be able to move for the rest of his life on any play. And these rich fucks won't guarantee the dude some money. And he's performed and he's young and he's going to continue to perform for them. And they're willing to be like, sign this tag, which basically means nothing guaranteed beyond this year. And It allows them to sort of work him into the ground if they want to. So I feel like I always side on the side of the players. I think that so he can stay out to a week 10 like he can. I think that what will ultimately happen is something close to what happened back back in the early 90s with Emmett Smith and the Cowboys, where they'll have a little standoff. Pittsburgh might lose their first two games. I'm not predicting that to happen, but Pittsburgh might lose like go 0 and 2 or 1 and 3 and be like fuck We need this guy back on the team and then cave It's time to long term. Yeah, that's their own. It's he's so great a firm or trade him But he's holding pretty firm on this like either right you sign me to long term sign me Or I'm just gonna sit till we fuck you. I'll see you week 11. I'm gonna Hang out on my couch. I've already made millions of dollars and I'll make more next year cuz I'll be healthy Jake: He's still young. It's funny cuz they are Pittsburgh is is is a team that generally doesn't cave Justin: So like I don't think this is a standoff right here. Although he said like look He might show up today's Friday. He might show up late this afternoon and sign the damn thing. Lady on Bell. Really? He may. You know, these guys want to play. It's not like he doesn't want to play.
1:06:02 Jake: He just literally $15 million. He just said he's going to sell out to week 10. So now you're saying he's going to show up at any time. Anyway. He could. I think it's interesting. I'd love to see it pressed so they sign him. Justin: They have to trade him away. Anyway, I'm gonna pick Pittsburgh. I just don't think Cleveland Hard Knocks hype is just absurd. So they're not gonna be that good. The head coach is so dumb and Yeah, Pittsburgh wins I agree by more than four agreed on the road. All right, Indy And Andrew Luck is hosting Cincinnati and his favorite by two and a half and I like Indy I like Cincy in this one. Okay. I think since he's gonna be sneaky good. All right, Minnesota is hosting San Francisco Minnesota favored by seven Really good week one game right there. That's fun to watch. That'll be that's what well probably watching. I'll take I'll take the points I'll take San Francisco getting seven Jimmy G. Yeah, I think that's gonna be a fun game. Jake: I'm oh, you're gonna take the points. I'm taking the points. I'm taking many many at home. Home opener by more than they're going to be excited. I think I'm not I'm not sure I'm 100% in on Jimmy G yet. I'm all in winning four games at the end of the season. I'm all in. Justin: I don't know. It's all about how he looks. It's a handsome young man. All right. New Orleans is hosting Tampa. New Orleans favored by 10 and a half this my Super Bowl team. It's Ryan Fitzpatrick I got New Orleans given 10 and a half fine by me. They'll probably win 30-something to four. I hate this. I hate a 10 and a half point spread No, you don't like spreads when they get to double digits. I'm gonna go Tampa. You always take the underdog Yeah, I'm gonna take always take always do better than you. Yeah, I'm not scared. No points. Okay. All right. My jags are visiting the Giants. I should go to that game. Why am I not going to that game? It's dumb. Oh, all right. Anyway, Jacksonville at Giants. Jacksonville favorite on the road by three. I think that's stupid. Week one. I'll take the Giants at home. They're going to come out firing. I think I only take Giants as well. That's the game they win, right? So Tom Coughlin comes back in the building with his Jags and he lies like, fuck you. I got Odell back and then Barkley. I mean, I'll be. That I mean see this is we're talking about like what games to watch that's a game I want to watch multiple games. I want to watch that. I'm so interested to see this I might watch Beckham versus Ramsey. I mean not to me is like that's not that's not Seeing this number two pick who's had four carries in the preseason try to run against us Just to see what they do with him, right? Well the Jets ran all over the Jags last year if you recall for more than 200 yards We beat them. Yeah, pretty easily. If I remember correctly. Anyway, all right. Skipping that one, so going to four o'clock now, we've got the L.A.
1:09:02 Justin: Chargers. Hosting Kansas City with the Chargers, giving the standard three. I'm gonna take the Chargers in their home opener there. Yeah, they're healthy. So I'll take them now Jake: Before I can't doesn't I'm not betting on him to do anything yet until I see more tape on him Justin: So i'll take the Chargers. I will say andy reid an excellent coach for quarterbacks. Yeah, every quarterback He's ever coached has played well We'll see and probably as well as they've ever played ever anywhere else, right? Jake: Think back like McNabb. I think Vic was better in Atlanta thing was in Justin: No, I think his best season was in Philly, but his best Yeah, his best season was in Philly, but I don't know if he was better I don't know if Andy Reid was actually the coach at that point Jake: Yes, he was. Sure. Well, when his best season or when Vic was there? Vic was definitely there when Reed was there. Vic had... Because that was when he came to that. Justin: An unbelievable year in Philly. Like, one of his best... It was after McNabb. It was the after McNabb years. McNabb was terrible after that and Alex Smith wasn't as good before he got to Kansas City as he is now. Anyway, let's keep moving. Let's go look up Michael Vic's stats. We got to move. Holy crap. Because I got to go in 15 minutes. All right. All right. Let's keep this moving. Denver is hosting Seattle. Denver giving two and a half. I think Seattle sucks. I'll take Denver. Jake: Oof. You're Russell Wilson. He's the only player on that team. I'll take Denver at home. I don't know what this team is. Justin: Arizona hosting Washington. Pick them nice. I like Washington. I Jake: Like Arizona. I think this is when this is when he plays well He's you know Washington sneaky good defense. There's it Arizona's got talent Justin: Where running back Washington sneaky good defense. Okay sneaky good up for I'll take care of two first rounders right there on the front line first I'll take a at home. I'll give give me the three for being at home. You're not getting it I know, but I think they're gonna be at home and they're gonna win. Alright, Carolina hosting Dallas. Of course, Dallas playing at 425. Carolina giving two and a half. Dallas sucks. They're gonna be the worst team in that division. It's possible. Like, they have nothing but Elliot. Jake: And they have- Dax are gonna be exposed! How is that- how is Des Bryant not signed anywhere? Justin: Because he's a pain in the ass. Is it? Do you want that on your team sometimes? Like you see how he acts on the sideline. It's like, is he still transformative? Look at his last three years and the stats suck. Yeah. So it's like, do you want that nonsense? Do you really need a guy chirping on the sideline about how he hasn't gotten the ball? You know where you should go. the browns New England where everyone just stays the course
1:12:05 Justin: No, I was saying Jags to the Jags you don't want that on that team why not you don't want that on on a young team You don't want a guy like that. He's an ass Anyway, I got Carolina. I'll take care of it Okay, Sunday night good game. Really? Yeah, Chicago's gonna be better than you think. No. Green Bay hosting Chicago, Green Bay giving nine. I got Chicago the points. Oh no, I'll take Green Bay. I think Chicago's gonna be terrible. I disagree. Their defense is gonna be really good and I think their offense is gonna be Surprisingly decent. This is like a 34 10 game. I'll bet you on this one. It's a terrible one move on. Okay Monday night, let's do the late one. We got the Rams at Oakland Rams Favored by four. Give me those Rams John Gruden. Don't know how to coach. He knows how to do TV He's been out of the league forever. Super Bowl winning coach. He won the Super Bowl with a team that Tony Dungy got ready to win the Super Bowl He took over won it in the first year and then his record after that was less than five. Thank God They're paying him a hundred million dollars guaranteed. He is not gonna be a good coach. It's gonna be a flaming disaster Jake: He already fucked up with the Khalil Max situation. The move they've made that just it just that is stunning I just don't know how much of it's him Like, you know, there are other people in the building making decisions, but Oakland's always been kind of a badly run organization. I feel like they're just continuing that. I do think they're going to keep it close though. So I'm going to say I want to take Oakland. All right, let's do these AFCs. Justin: All right, let's go. We got Baltimore at Buffalo. Baltimore is favored by eight and a half. I told you, Baltimore, we better anything. They're in Buffalo is going to be terrible. That's. point here. I've got Baltimore winning 16-10. Not a whole lot of points in this one. Take the under. Jake: Taking Baltimore to kill Buffalo. Do we have over unders on this thing? Justin: 25-12. No over unders on this one. Baltimore. All right. Tennessee is at Miami, and it's a pick. It's a pick them. I don't know why. I like Tennessee. Picking all these road teams. Jake: 2013 Tennessee over Miami. I don't know. I feel like Miami's gonna start well and end poorly. So I think they're gonna I think they're gonna do okay at home home opener they stink 2021. Justin: Miami wins the game. Okay. Houston at New England. New England giving seven. I'm New England winning, but not covering. New England wins 26-24 in a close one. Jake: They actually Houston plays New England well. They do. And they usually stay very competitive. That's why I have. Yeah.
1:15:00 Jake: Twenty six, twenty four. I think it's going to be higher scoring than that. New England usually scores more. I actually have it hitting the the the. spread so I think it's 3730 New England. A push. Yeah, push. Push out. And then the game of the century. So talk to me about this game. Let's talk a little bit. We have a little bit more time now. Keys of the Castle. So we're gonna do a Keys of the Castle. That's what we talk about. We each pick what we think is the number one thing we need to win the game. Again, I'm always gonna pick the chest to win. ... ... ... ... ... ... every single week. It doesn't matter, but what do you think the keys of the castle are? Every single week. And yes, for the person who says, well, you picked them to go seven to nine, how can you pick them to go to win every week? Because I'm looking at it from a week to week and I'm always going to pick my team to win. Justin: Because fuck you, we're picking the jets to win. I'm a cool youth. Except me, I pick them to lose. Yes, you have picked them to lose. All right. I do have them winning this game. Okay. We need to protect Sam and licensee. On defense, I think the middle of the field is the key for us. So we are weak at nickel corner, cluster screen, not good. Gets beat a lot. Our linebackers have not really shown the ability to cover. So slot receivers, running backs, tight ends. It'd be tough to stop. And I think Matt Stafford's gonna throw the ball about 50 times. So that's the deal. Get your shit together in the middle of the field. Hopefully Marcus May can play. We're not sure. He hasn't been practicing due to this ankle injury that he suffered last year and had some off-season surgery to repair. I do not understand why he played in the preseason in game 3 if he's not going to be able to start week 1 that's just dumb, but ultimately 24 16 JETS stretch out touch. Jake: So you're predicting, you're predicting I'll score a couple of touchdowns, that all offensive? Justin: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I wanna score a few touchdowns. I think if given the opportunity, I think we can score on four drives. Jake: All right, I think the Jets my keys castle is I mean what I'm worried about from watching the preseason Like what did I see in the preseason that was good? Okay. I saw you know some some some nice offensive Plays like it was interesting. It's all this short dump stuff having Darnell rollouts been great. I'm not worried about that. I think our defense has been pretty stout in the preseason I'm not worried about them. I think they're gonna make some moves is our special teams. So like Mikey's, the castle, don't fuck with this. Don't be an idiot.
1:18:00 Jake: I could, like, if this game starts off and they start kicking out of bounds and fumbling and all that kind of shit, like, I'm gonna lose the game badly. just hang in there. I think we could win. this close. I have 27-26 jets. I have this winning. I'm so happy. So happy. Well that's it. That's it. That's episode So our schedule for the season is usually, we just try to come back and do a little, you And until then, that's Justin and Jake. As always, let's go Jets Thanks for watching, and I'll see, in the next video. you
