19 Jake: Welcome to the Jet Kingdom. The longest running New York Jets podcast ever! I'm Jake, and joining me 301 times in a row, never skip a beat, never say never, never throw an interception, Justin, how you doing? Justin: Yeah, I just threw you off. Let's go get a goddamn snack. Jake: I was doing from SNL, I don't even know the basketball player's name, but there's some basketball player, his father's kind of crazy. Justin: Oh yeah, LeVar Ball. Jake: Yeah, and so on SNL they just get- Oh, Keenan does a great LeVar Ball. Yeah, but it's the father. Justin: Yeah, LeVar is the father. Okay, LeVar Ball. Jake: He's like, never lose. Never gonna be bad. Always good. Justin: He does a great LeVar Ball and he does a great Steve Harvey. I love his family feuds. Oh, family feuds so good. Jake: Alright, well, we'll be back next week. Alright, done. Alright, well, quick. Hey! What? Football, motherfuckers! Oh god, Hard Knock started. That's when you know life is good. Hard Knock started. Justin: We had the Hall of Fame game last week. We had preseason games last night. I think 75% of the teams played last night. Jake: Yeah, I was out, I couldn't watch. I was watching a little bit on, I was watching Giants rounds. Justin: Holy shit, Saquon Barkley can play ball. Really? Holy fuck, that dude is gonna break 30 to 40 yard runs every single game. He's that fast, he's that elusive, and fuck me, he can ball. Jake: Still happy we picked Sam? Justin: Yes. Okay. Well, I mean, we couldn't have picked Barkley. That's true. And I'm sure the fans pick Sam. Jake: We could have got Barkley. Now we were getting a quarterback regardless, but I think the Giants fans Justin: are going to be really happy. The only the only issue I know this is a Jets podcast, but the Giants played last time and won times. And but and I got I mean, literally, the Giants got the ball first. I mean. And on the first play, they hand the ball to Barkley and boom, 35 yards. Wow. I'm like. Oh fuck me. And it was a really good run. It was an inside run and he kind of pressed the hole a little bit and it wasn't there and he just kicked it outside and then kicked into gear. He got outside and I'm like, all right, that was a great run. But I imagine that that won't work all the time. Jake: Like you're not going to be able to like get outside and around the corner all the time. It did show off his speed and holy crap is he fast. Great. That he's on the team. Yeah, I don't care. Justin: I mean, but, but that was a good game. We had Barkley. We had the number one and the number two pick playing in that game. Yeah.
00 Justin: So we had Barkley playing and starting and he touched the ball a handful of times you, I played more than I thought he played almost the for my entire first quarter. Let's see what happens tonight. And Baker, Baker Mayfield played, I think most of the second and third, Jake: I think he played like the second and third quarters. I didn't watch it, but he looked pretty good. I heard from this morning that like he did, he looked good, but he didn't make the case for him to start. Justin: No, he didn't. He did not make the case to start because Tarrad Taylor just went right down the field on the Giants starting. Defense and I'll tell you that Jarvis Landry is really fucking good Yeah, and the kid in joker's really fucking good and I'm watching hard knocks so like I can see When you watch hard knocks, you're gonna be like Jarvis Landry. I like that guy. Yeah Jake: well, yeah, he is he is so we're in a keeper league together and I was looking at my keeper as we can keep three and I have some weight round guys, but I have Jarvis Landry. And I was like, I think if the Browns are even not a total shit show, he was a, he's a machine when it comes to PPR. And so in a PPR league, he actually is, I think he had most catches. Justin: He has the most, he has the, he did have the most catches last season. And he also holds the record for the most catches in the first four years of a career. Jake: Yeah, he is. He has the most catches. And last year he had a shitty quarterback. And if he had like a good quarterback, who could throw on the ball more often? Justin: I'll tell you, Baker was pretty impressive. I was impressed with his athleticism. Jake: And I was impressed with the fact that he stood there and threw the damn ball. I have my game pass. I will go watch the 30 minute. Yeah, check it out. Plus it'll be on home. It'll be on hard knocks. Well, the recap will play the they'll talk about it to watch like the plays. Justin: Yeah, because stats are a little his stats are a little. Oh, we got to keep whatever our subjects. Well, I was talking to Baker because, you know, Baker has a little bit of a history on this podcast. It's the guy that I wanted. Yeah, it's the guy that we we. thought we were gonna get because we didn't think Sam was gonna be available. So yeah, we still have a little bit of a crush on Baker that'll end in week three. And it'll end way before that. And as soon as Sam starts. Jake: Listen, if the story that if the story is written in in 10 years, that it is one of those drafts where four or five guys came out and were amazing. Yeah. That's fine. Like I don't have I'm not rooting against Baker Mayfield and I'm not rooting against Rosen and I'm rooting against you know, all the bills. I am rooting it. I do want the best one though Justin: I do want Sam to be the best of them. I Jake: Well, what's the draft that? Rothberger Rothus burger Eli and Phil Rivers. Okay, so who of those three who's the best? Who's the best quarterback? He's the best quarterback. Yeah. But if we had the E. Guy and we win two Super Bowls, would you care? Justin: No, but I but I would have preferred. Jake: But I would say the big rivers is probably the best of those three from a
00 Jake: from a stats and quarterback, not from his winnings. Justin: No, Big Ben's the best quarterback. I don't think so. He he's definitely I think he's far and away. the best of those three. I don't think Eli is the worst of the three. Jake: Yeah, I think he is. But again, so if go back and let's say it's Baker, it's Rosen, Mayfield and Darnold. Remember, actually, Alan went before Rosen in this draft. Yeah, that was because we hit him. Josh Allen went. He's not gonna be, he's not in the conversation. So I'm gonna put Rosen, because those were the top three when we were, yes. But Rosen fell. For us it was like, oh, we're gonna get Rosen at three. That's what we thought. Rosen or Mayfield. Or Mayfield. So what I'm saying, if in 10 years we look back and we look at and we're compared to those three, as long as we have one of the ones that won the Super Bowl, I don't care. Don't care. But even if you're if you're a Chargers fan, you're not sitting around going, we're not in the Super Bowl because of him. Justin: No, you're not. You're definitely not blaming Phil Rivers. I mean, that that dude's had a great career. As I'm saying, he played with the torn ACL in an AFC championship game. Jake: Yeah, LT on his on his well, LT. Justin: Also was hurt fucking sucked in the playoffs for the Chargers and probably that's who you would blame as much as you love LT you'd be like man We worked him into the ground in the regular season and he sucked every post season. Yeah, he couldn't couldn't run Jake: All right well since the since we had a brief preview or talked about the preseason as Training camp kicked off that week at the time We did not have our last No Sam and Cam. But guess what? He signed, I think, three days later. Yeah. On the third day. So he missed two days. He missed two days. He signed. It was all about the offsets. No, it was not about the offsets. It was. It was not. No? No. It was not about the offsets. It was about when he got paid his signing bonus. I think he won the he won. No, no, no, because it was it was about those two things. That's what the Jets the Jets one of the offsets he was they but that was what he was using as their leverage. He was saying I want I want offsets and signing bonus They were saying no signing bonus and offsets and then what they they agreed to both So he got his money all right, but we got his money all up front Justin: But we got the offsets kind of unprecedented for the Jets, but we got we've never we've never done that before Jake: 30 million dollars think about per years has for four years. Yep $30 million for four years like the math of what he's getting paid again This is why we do this this you know this math of this is the window This is the window this is what we talked about this is why Seattle won This is how it was because you got four years plus you got the fifth year Plus you the six year of with even if you go and blow the bank Oh, you can tag you can tag to or tag for two more doesn't really but you still be paying 30 million dollars a year Still at that point the team should be there team should be there right and you can throw in the players, right? So this is our window. He signed 30 million dollars. I know I don't care. Justin: It doesn't matter. The number, the number is the number. It was going to be the number. Like the salary, the salary. It was they were all just like, when does he get his guarantee?
02 Jake: And he just got it all. Great. Great. Fine. I don't know how that does for the books, but. Whatever don't care. We had the money just and and it's the whole point of drafting one and going up in the in the first round And go up to number three and drafting guy. You're all in on this guy There's there's no doubt that the entire New York Jets organization is all in yes Justin: I'm gonna play the players are too like you're reading comments about it Like everybody like like even Terrell Pryor who's barely on the team is like that dude Jake: That dude, he's the guy. Yeah. So he got signed. He came in. They did the golf clap led by Jamal Adams. Awesome. Well, he's a natural born leader. He is. He is the he is this team like I think for the next four years, you're going to have. Oh, we'll see what happens. Justin: Well, he will be the absolute leader on the defense, regardless Leonard or not. No, it's going to be. It's going to be at Darnold. It's going to be Adams and Darnold, hopefully Adams. definite though. Oh yeah. And you have it at the levels like in the secondary it's Adams and then at the linebacker level Darren Lee needs to step up and be that leader in that room. Yep. And big cat Leonard Williams is clearly the leader in the on the line. Yep. And with McClendon a little bit as a as a vet but he'll be gone. Like when this team's really Jake: doing what we hope it's going to do. McClendon will not be on the team. I don't feel as good about the other side. Like I know the other side, the leadership qualities are not necessarily there. Like, you know, the leader in the in the in the in the in the white out room. Justin: Probably Quincy and noon. Yeah. You know. He's been on the team for a little while. He's sort of a vet. You would think though that. Curse would be one to curse. He's been on a Super Bowl winning team. He's played in another Super Bowl. He's got the experience. Josh McCown's certainly. Yes, certainly. Jake: But we know he's not long term. No, but he's there. Justin: And I don't know about the offensive line to me is a mystery. That's that's that's that's gonna be the thing that's gonna have to be the focus of the next offseason But we have a whole season before we get to that and we have a whole preseason before we even get to that I start tonight with an actual game an actual game actually going to the actual Falcons and Jake: Well, let's talk about we actually went to we went out to Justin: Rutgers to watch the green and white scrimmage. That's right. I guess the Jake: practice slash scrimmage. Thought it was going to be more of like a actual playing a game game. Yeah. And it was it was not. So on hard knocks, they just did the Browns version of it. So I just saw their version of it. Like they did same exact thing. Yeah. So it was at Rutgers, by the way. I'll you know, I'll give it to the Jets. They have a news that was announced, by the way. can talk about, they announced that the Jets are gonna get a new uniform next year. A new uniform? A new uniform. Holy crap. So if they didn't show it, obviously it was on Twitter. It broke,
00 Jake: didn't break the internet. But excited? Justin: It broke the internet. Like Kim Kardashian's naked ass. Jake: It was an article the other day, the worst, the... NFL uniforms from worst to best and I think the Jets were the third worst. So they were like, well, let's get that upgrade in there. Yeah, so that'll be interesting. We'll see more, hopefully. Hopefully we're not like changing colors and stuff. I like I like I like our green. I don't know. Like, I don't know. Look and feel. I mean, I think you you have to stick to green, whether they stick to. that shade of green. I have a cup right here in front of me. Yeah. Jets. Yeah. Jets cup right there. It's the most generic Jets cup. It's like they just told Turvus, do a Jets thing. Make a Jets thing. They went on the internet. Here's the logo and just it spelled J E T S. It literally has Meadowlands written on the bottom of it. Yes. Meadowlands. Like that and a big New York state. Like no. It's like they didn't run this by anybody. It's hysterical. Definitely not. So, what do you think? What do you think about the practice? Justin: Well, first of all, yeah, I think you were about to say kudos to the Jets for doing stuff like this. Yes. Because I watched the Browns one and they just did it on their practice field and whoever Whoever shows up to practice, they had... a handful of, you'll see, there's people there, they're kind of going nuts during practice, but couldn't have been more than a couple hundred. 18,000 people showed up at Rutgers Jake: to see the Jets practice. There were more people there than at some of the games last year. And people were there to see Sam. Justin: Yes. People were there to see Sam. Kids, families. Oh yeah, it was a great, great event. Nice, I mean Rutgers. Honestly, they just were not prepared for it because they didn't know k-job. They were okay, but like concessions wise Oh, they just were not perhaps that they were not ready. They were not ready for what for 18,000 people to show up Jake: I mean that is a lot of people to show up to watch a practice at rockers Even like a like a mock game. It was a it was a it was a real it was of this an hour and a half Justin: Practice and then it was a hour long offense versus defense scrimmage. Yeah, with hitting. There was some hitting. Yeah. And not not the quarterback. So no, no, they were wearing the red unis. So Josh McCown start. He had the first drive and it was the only drive he played, which is appropriate. And what we've predicted and said was going to happen the whole time. It's what you're going to see tonight as well. He will start. And that will be the only drive that he plays, even if it's three and out. I don't think he gets back on the field. No. But. in the scrimmage Josh McCown first drive boom touchdown yeah boom hit Balal Powell Balal Powell was lined up in the slot cool ran a slant cool beat the crap out of Darren Lee Caught the ball and then burnt them down the field. Yep. Not good for Darren Lee. Not good for Darren. Cool for, for like Josh McCown to throw a seven yard pass that turned into a like 60 yard pass, but that's the West coast off. That's how Jerry Rice made a lot of money.
01 Justin: Um, but anyway, that's that, that was like, okay, cool. McCown get the hell out of here. And then it was. Teddy and Sam and they kind of switched off drives. And to me, Sam looked better. I have a little bias because I want him to look better. Oh, yeah. But he really did. Like Teddy didn't, they didn't move. They didn't really move when Teddy had the ball. Teddy got sacked a lot. And again, that also has a lot to do with who's. who's on the line when you're in there. Do you have the starting line in there or do you have the backup line in there? And I read this morning an article that Bulls was quoted as saying like, yeah, we're gonna get all three quarterbacks in there and we're gonna mix and match with the line so that we don't have Sam playing with third string line. Yeah, please no. Like we don't wanna get, like he may have. In the third quarter, he may have some starting offensive linemen in the game. Well, that'd be good. I mean, Winters probably will not be playing, nor will Long, the center right guard, because they both had surgery in the offseason and they just don't want, you don't need to play in preseason game one. Let's get like Dakota Dozier in there. Let's get Harrison in there maybe playing center. But... you're going to have some protection a little bit for some of these guys. And they're also going to plan on using it as a bit of a showcase for Teddy. Yeah, because it's all over that we're going to. Jake: That's not all over. What it is is some, you know, sources say it's menish. Justin: We're looking to listen. We're looking to trade him. If someone calls and says I'm interested in Teddy, we're listening. What would you take? What would you take? If someone calls and says we're interested in Sam, we'll just hang up the phone. Jake: Well, no. Give me your entire draft next year. Justin: No. Jake: Every pick. No. Every pick. Really? Two years. Two years. No! Three years. Justin: No! Look what happened! Three years of picks? Oh yeah, sure. Give me all your picks for the next three years, but who's the dumb fuck team that does that? Well, somebody. Jake: Uh, so, I mean, even the one year thing, I mean, you look at, I think it was the Justin: saints did that years ago, uh, when they drafted Ricky Williams to move up in the first round to get Ricky Williams. They traded whoever they traded with their entire rest of the draft. Wow. Jake: Yeah. Uh, I thought, I thought the practice was great. Again, it was very, it's, it's so hard to see. Justin: Sorry, I wanted to go back and answer your question. What would I take for for Teddy? Jake: For Teddy. What's the minimum? I think a second round pick. That's the minimum or what you want? I want a second round pick. Really? For a guy who's on a one year contract? Yeah, I think that that's very worth it for a team. Justin: Because the only team that's trading for him is out of desperation. Right. So you're looking for a team that thinks they're going to go somewhere.
38 Jake: I I agree. I just want him off the team, not because I think it's interesting. I love having two number one picks on the team that are both under 26. That's so super cool. But I just want all the focus to be on Sam. It's got to be Sam. And with with Teddy in the room, there's still that kind of like, well, look at Teddy like he's kind of good. Justin: And remember, he's on the one year deal. I know. And. He's also five years older. Yeah, but he hasn't played in two years. He's in the he's in that like. Jake: He hasn't played in two years. He's in the he's in the prime. Great good trade good trade bait. If we had him on a longer contract I think we get more. We don't. Opposite. Huh opposite. It's better this way. Justin: Why? Because the team you're going to trade them to only wants them for the rest of the year. I don't know. I don't know. No one's trading for Teddy Bridgewater to be their future because they would have just signed him fourth round. That's the most I think. I think he's worth Jake: a second round pick to a desperate team. I am great. I hope that desperate team shows up. I mean, you know, Sam Bradford was the first. They got a first for him. Freaking Brown. The Browns traded away their traded away their their wide receiver who they went up and drafted two years ago to the bills. It didn't didn't didn't Justin: Philadelphia get a first round pick for Sam Bradford. Jake: Mm, Mm, maybe. There was one game last year that he liked. He played one game last year. That's the point. Alright, let's keep going. Greenway practice, good. My overall thing was just hard because they're not really doing anything. You have Sam throwing to people who are, you look up, literally you look up on your phone. Who is that? Like who the fuck is, oh there's three of that same number, I don't know. It's one of the. Right, one of the number nines. But yeah, did anybody like. Justin: go, that's amazing. No, yes, you weren't impressed with canon. No, no, no, I'm talking about the Jake: quarterback. Oh, okay. To me, my just my eyes looking at this player on the field, I'm like,
05 Jake: that guy should start. There's no reason I could see that he shouldn't start the season. And that's what I want him to do. I want him to be, if here's the level right here, I want him just to be right above it. So there's no doubt he goes in, he starts it. Everybody feels like he won the job, whether he does or does not. I don't care. I just want him to look. and not like a lost puppy. Justin: And by the way, he is athletic. He is as athletic as advertised. They ran more bootleg rollout plays with him than they did with Teddy or McAllen combined, combined. And every time he rolled out, he was throwing on the run as accurate as... If he was just standing there like it was sort of like, whoa, whoa, okay. Yeah, that's gonna be a weapon And he even scrambled he scrambled for first down He was moving up and he was doing all the right things all the things you want to see Jake: Reading which was nice like it was really good to see he threw some really nice passes Dropped by guys won't be on the team. We threw a couple on the run that were like Justin: Caught, like some highlight type throws to the tight end. And then there was some other rookies that kind of flashed a little bit. Oh, the one that everybody's talking about. Canda Ferrari. Holy fuck. He's really fast. Yeah, like he's a little dude. Yeah, but man, he he can run. And in the screen game, look out. I mean, I don't want to. There's a name. I don't want to say it, but it's what he looked like to me. I'll say it. He looked like Alvin Kamara looked last year. Oh, okay. Jake: Yeah. I mean, he looked that good. He's a small guy. I mean, he's 5'11". So, I mean, Rawls is 5'9". 185, though. That's small. He's a small dude. Justin: But Kamara's not a big dude, either. The only reason why he went in the sixth round is because he's a division two player. Right. I mean, the dude can really, really run. Jake: Favorite part of of all preseason is always finding that that that gem. Yeah. That thing that guy that you're rooting for. Justin: I mean, remember Hard Knocks that we watch that that preseason and like Danny Woodhead. Yes. Was on the Jets. And it was like, that guy's really good. And we ended up cutting him and then he ended up being really good for other teams and it's like damn With the Patriots and wasn't even one of those I think he was on one of those and he's been on other good teams Like he's the type of player that you want and we're gonna play running back by committee here guys Jake: We're like you think I can keep off for those running backs? I hope cannon beats Beats Rawls for a roster spot and then it's like I prefer to see McGuire than Rawls too I I I really hope Powell and McGuire will be on will be on He'll be on They're not gonna put him on the eye. I think they are Because he's I don't think he's ready. That's a waste. Why? That's stupid. Why? Then he gets to come back. You don't you can keep a you can keep it
06 Justin: Yeah, but you can only put one player on that. I thought Jake: On that comeback IR. I thought they changed. Two players. Yeah, but how many do we need? I don't know But it also allows you to have an extra roster spot for the time being so instead of having so then you can keep your three three Justin: well yeah they're gonna have they're gonna have to make a decision around Rawls cannon McGuire because I can't think because he's I can't see who's drafted well so is cannon yeah but Jake: wait wait well I guess Justin: Was Maguire drafted like way early? Jake: Is that what you're trying to say? Did he really flash last year to be like, whoa, that's a freaking guy we can't live without? That's true. I think Powell might be the guys on the outside. I hope not. I hope Powell is very dependable. What do we owe Rawls? Is that just a pickup? Yeah, I don't think that's a big deal at all. Oh, again, I like that there's we're going to make a competition. Justin: That's good. Competition of wide receiver two. Jake: Alright, let's talk about, oh, we have a trade rumor of Cole Mack. Well, please. I just thought that's a thing. Justin: He's not reporting to Oakland, and that's a dude that would be like the final piece. That's the edge rusher. Jake: I just don't... That's a defensive player of the year, dude. I just don't think that that's where this team is. There are teams out there who need that player to go to the playoffs and go deep. I don't, and I just don't think they would do that. I just don't think that's this organization you can see what they've done in I'll ask for years. They wipe the house, they're building back, they're putting in small places. They're, you know, they're not playing money ball, whatever, but they're putting in the players they need to they're building to the draft, they're building young. They're not. Little Mac is is the same, but I have classes like I don't see them. I don't see them going out and and doing a big splash trade for a player who's if they want and they should just sign them next year. Right. Justin: If if Oakland doesn't tag him or do figure out some crazy way of. So to me, screwing him over. I just he's he's out there with the. I'm not playing, right? He's waving the flag. I'm not playing. But every single player that I've ever seen do that, they play. Jake: They play. They eventually play. Yeah, they play. I mean, when the season starts. Yes. Yes. This is like a game of chicken and every player loses. Well, no, because I usually get something out of it. They get the contract or they get whatever or no. We'll see. Did the Steelers pay LaVion Bell? Not yet They're not going to know They're gonna run him right into the ground this year steel just smart like that and then they're gonna be like later kid later skater We already talked about Baker Mayfield. Yeah, I didn't see it. So I Justin: Just check it out. It's pretty intriguing his stats don't Jake: Show really what and tonight we have the Falcons. I'm gonna go to the game. You're not you're not a good fan
03 Jake: I'll be away. I'm gonna go to the giant game. You can go to the giant game That's the game that any someone always gets hurt. It's like I don't even want to go anywhere near that game I will not that's cuz they're really playing. Yeah, someone always gets hurt in that game Have you what are you looking for tonight? Are you watch it? Yeah, I'm gonna watch it streaming somewhere Justin: No, I'm gonna just record it up where I'm gonna be. Okay Looking for Jake: We want to see first of all do predictions who's starting Josh McGowan one one series one series literally just whatever happened three and out He never hits the field again put on the baseball cap and hang out who goes in second Teddy with the first Yeah, all the first. Yeah. Okay. How much does he get? He might play the whole first half. I think he gets the rest of the quarter I think he plays the whole first half really cuz they want to show him showcase and see what they have Justin: They gotta see, I mean, they're really competing, so he's number two right now if Donald had jumped him. I think Donald will play the rest of the first half. And then Donald will play the whole second half. Mmm. Okay. I don't even think we have a fourth. I didn't see a fourth red jersey at the practice. No, no, no, it's just those three. Yeah, most people have four. Like last night, the Browns put in their fourth stringer instead of the third stringer because the third stringer is a veteran. Jake: I would, I'd rather see Sam play for more than a half. I'd rather see him play for, I'd like to, I mean, I know it's not gonna happen. It's not. They're not gonna do it. Justin: He'll play the second half, though, I think. Jake: I mean, I think Teddy's gonna play most of the first half and Sam will play the second half. So best case scenario, what are you looking for, Sam? I'm looking just to see competency. Justin: I'm looking to see no procedural penalties. These are types of little things like No, not a lot of false starts that appear to be like kind of his fault, not the old lines fault, getting in and out of huddles, taking snaps from under center, stepping into the pocket as opposed to like retreating backwards and getting sacked. Don't really care if he throws a pick. Don't care. Would be more concerned with ball security on the on the fumbling side of things. He fumbled in the green and white. Which he did fumble in the green and white. So I want the better ball control or handling than that. And I wouldn't mind seeing him call an audible or two at the line. Like kill kill kill or whatever and check into something. I would like to see some smarts out of him. And I'd also like to see him hook up with some specific targets. Like I'd like to see him and Herndon. make a couple of nice plays together, the rookie tight end. I'd like to see him and Cannon have a couple of like little screen passes or you know, have a couple of nice like plays where they run some stretch plays one way and then
04 Justin: boom, bootleg off that stretch. back the other way to hit a tight end over the middle. I want to see him move a little, shake a little and look like he's really in control of the whole situation. Jake: It's hard to tell, but Baker looked that way last night. Like he was in control. He was in the game. He looked good. I want to I want to see reads like that's the most important. I think the most most rookie quarterbacks that I've watched. They just can't read. They can't. go to a second or third, you know, read on the, you know, the defense. And I want to see him drive. I just want to see him consistently. I want to see a six minute, five minute, eight minute, whatever. A consistent drive with, you know, a first down, you pick up three yards and then he does like I want to see a. professional drive down the field. It doesn't have to end in a touchdown, but again, I'm thinking back to watching Petty and Hackenberg and Gino and all the bad things about them is they didn't know where the pressure was coming from. They were through a lot of incomplete passes and they could not drive the field. and I want to see him drive the field. And if he can do that with those bunch of Schmoes who won't be on the team and show us. And I wouldn't mind, you know, obviously no one get hurt, but I also wouldn't mind one or two like, oh plays. Where he does something like, definitely. Like, you just go, oh, and it's kind of like that hits the media the next day. Sam, Sam shines is on the back of the post, right? and he drove the team for two touchdowns, had an amazing, you know, roll out where he hit someone, you know, thread the needle or something like that. I mean, I've seen the guy throw, he can throw, he's got a great arm. For sure. And just accuracy, right? So I'm good decision making and everything I want to see. Because what I don't want to see is just some. And I don't think we are. Again, everything I've seen from him and coming out of campus, he is not that guy. He is going to be a professional quarterback. We are going to have a 21-year-old professional quarterback on our team. That people are not going to go, oh, it's like, no, he's actually a professional quarterback. I you know superstar superstar elite pro bowler i don't know that will be the history of the jeds but i think we have a professional you also have to remember that just thinking back on and we saw Justin: tom brady grow up over the last 20 years yep he did not win those super bowls early no i mean That was Bill Belichick defense. and Tom Brady not turning the ball over. So this team's built similarly, right? The defense, you'd say, is like the stronger side of the like, it's not a super balanced team at the moment. Like the playmakers are on a defensive side of the ball. That's where they saw their draft in the last in the last five years forever
03 Justin: since Rex and and it's time to even that out. But it's going to take a year or two. 12 interceptions. Jake: That would be, to me, a really great rookie season. It doesn't matter wins or losses. Justin: Don't care. Jake: Well, we will be come back with our next podcast. I think will be our predictions podcast. We're gonna have to settle some time. We gotta pick every game for the whole season. Pick the Super Bowl winner. I will come back. Yes, of course. I think it will be a little break because of the vacation for the rest of the month. Until then, as always, let's go Jets!
