16 Jake: Welcome to the Jet King podcast, the longest-running New York Jets podcast. Period innocent. I'm Jake, and joining me... Justin: 337 times in a row. It's no small number. It's Justin. Justin, how you doing? I'm all right. I'm getting ready for what should be a pretty fun, super low weekend. I'm hopeful that this will be the last time I need to see Tom Brady in a Super Bowl. I feel like he's been in half of them for the last 20 years, right? Something like that. Like that's enough. It's good. You did your thing man like later. Yeah, I I Jake: You know betting against him winning is just a stupid stupid thing, you know, it's like a short seller It's like you're short selling gets something that just keeps winning. So I'm gonna say no, he'll definitely be back I know here. Oh, yeah, why wouldn't you back? Justin: But let's not have them back to the Super Bowl. Can you just come back and suck? Like can that be cool? Can we get the suck season, please? Jake: Yeah, yeah, I don't know. I think the fun thing, as we discussed, I guess, two weeks ago or a week ago, two weeks ago is, right, because there's no pole bowl this year. So Bye! The way we discuss was that no matter what was there was going to be some fun Super Bowl storylines. We thought that the better storyline would be the. Bills bucks just because of the old and the new and then you have the bills of not winning and the box and Tom Brady and the AFC East and the. You know all these great storylines but pretty much have most of the storylines now i think that's fun like again watching the game. Hey care about the teams watching game turns around the squares, right? So we're in like 300 million squares pools So that's fun. It's like oh, what's my what's my squares? Obviously the commercials all the commercials are getting You know, it's less interested this year is everything thing Justin: Like are people paying like millions of dollars for Super Bowl commercial nowadays the exact thing really Jake: I mean, don't you think this is gonna be the biggest watch super bowl because no one in the world Justin: I don't think it will be anywhere. Who has plans during the Super Bowl? Go watch the Super Bowl. Jake: Oh, I think plenty of people in the world go do anything. Justin: Like, I think Super Bowl is pretty well watched. And globally. Big event. Maybe more people because maybe there'll be less people. I don't know, but I can't. Jake: And nothing else to watch. There's not a lot so
09 Jake: Oh, maybe rumor. He's unhappy. He might be wanting out babies to trade maybe his whatever and Well, he's basically saying over like what is what's up? What's a player is said? I want out I've never seen them. Not go out like that. I'm out the door. Now. It's just where am I going? but What I did was I got a we had a quarter back trade. Like, so we did have a quarterback trade. We said, you know, franchise quarterbacks don't get traded. And yet we might have two in this first or three in this first season or in this, you know, the next NFL season. And it started with the Rams and the Lions doing a whoopsie whoopsie. I'll take yours. You take mine. And you can take three picks as well. So I forget which way it went actually. Sorry. It went to... Justin: So the Lions traded Matt Stafford. Oh, that's right. To the Rams. And the Rams traded golf and two picks. That's three. Three number one. Two ones and like a... Some other pick actually I think the pick might have went back to the Rams like a third rounder The Rams don't have a first round pick for the next like seven years, you know that right? Yeah, that's a thing. So Whatever they clearly don't care about the draft You know, they traded a couple of them in the past to get up or they moved around quite a bit but Either way, they they made the Super Bowl with this guy and McVey's done with him. So like this guy's I'm done with him. He wasn't even going to start him in the playoffs and he could play clearly. I don't think that's a good. I don't think that's a very good trade for the Rams, honestly. Like, don't it doesn't Detroit make out on this, even though they have to pay Jared Goff like starter money. He's a starter like. Jake: What are you getting out of this? I mean Stafford has been the league for 11 12 years. I looked it up and he's 32. Okay, but but what is it that you see? I mean, if you're trading for for that was the trade for Aaron Rodgers, I'd be like, Oh, okay, you're getting I don't Justin: know what you're seeing. I don't know what you're seeing in separate where you're like, Oh. This is the guy to turn in. Well, why? He didn't turn Detroit around ever. So like that's kind of the thing of like, you know, is is it the quarterback? Is it is the franchise that the quarterback goes in place for? Because Stafford is playing for the Lions. He's probably the best quarterback to ever play for the line. I don't know, maybe not. I mean, I know there's been guys in history that are, you know, you look back on and say, oh, well, this guy played in the 60s, whatever. Like, in the modern era, Stafford's been their best
02 Justin: quarterback for the last 25, 30 years that I can remember. You're not going to throw Scotty Mitchell at me and be like, he was better. No, he wasn't like, and they didn't go anywhere. Jake: So so but doesn't this I mean, just from an organizational standpoint, so here's here's a quarterback you went out and you got like so let's talk let's talk the golf side of the trade, Justin: you went out and you got your golf. You then he so you go out and you get your Donald. Let's Jake: keep going. Yeah, you then he blows the first year just he looks like a donkey's ass. We all said that. The second year he turns it around, he gets you into the playoffs like and we all thought he looked good like he was he was on the offense was firing this year like i don't know it's just and then all of a sudden you're like no oh then you pay a Justin: mega bill that you pay on maybe you skip you skipped a big fact which is third season hey we're in the super bowl You're in the Super Bowl in the third season. You feel good about that. They pay him after the Super Bowl before. Of course. You don't pay someone your third season. No, you don't. No. So then they get paid after you get paid for your, you know, like right now is when Sam would get paid. Right now is when like Josh Allen, he's going to get paid. Like now. When Mars, when Mars is going to get paid. Now. They don't have to. but they do it now. So they go and they give this guy this mega contract. And then the next year, Jake: they flub and, and they get rid of him for a backup. And they have to pay to get rid of him basically have to pay to get rid of him. Like, yeah, first round taxes. Why not keep those first on that contract. Yeah, and the 106 million right have remaining in the contract versus the 43 on Stafford, but still, I just don't I don't get it. Justin: I don't got a contract is supposed to be one of the worst in the league. Apparently, just because of like what he is and like he's not. He's not that guy. But I don't know, like, how do you misjudge that so poorly as an organization? Jake: Multiple levels of it, misjudging on the getting, misjudging on the contract, and then having you basically, and they had to give up a bunch to get him in the first place, like to get him in that draft. Justin: This is a severe, severe misjudgment by by the Rams, but, you know, different whatever, different whatever, then different coach, different organization. But how does it make make famous there when he blossom? I don't like how to know. They're the first year. I think they came in the second year. That's right. He sucked the first year and then they came in and was like, oh, this guy can play. OK, he needed a coach. got it. Third year they made the Super Bowl. It's like, Oh, he can really play shit. He's not he's not like, so much worse than once where this looked lopsided. Now both of them look like, what the fuck is going on with these two guys? I know. And I don't know, it just it to me that makes the organization look because now
03 Jake: how many court how many first rounds did you get up in total? to this one quarterback. You just gave up or okay, so now so now for for quarterbacks or for Justin: first round picks to right because he picked away you had the one you used to actually pick up right that has to count you just gave up two more to get Stafford and I feel like they traded Jake: up to you. I traded maybe like five. So five first round picks to get the quarterback who's not even your starting quarterback. Justin: I mean, you have another quarterback now. You wasted five first round picks on Matt Stafford 13 years into his career. Good job. Jake: Apparently five. So this brings us to the Watson conversation. So if this is if we're in a market and the market is setting the price, right, if gold is worth, you know, $1,900 an ounce or whatever, what is the quarterback worth? And clearly this trade and again, it's hard with the contracts because contracts do, you know, the difference between 43 million and 106 million is a lot in terms of your cap space and what you can do with people. But let's look at it from the quarterback. This puts I think a frickin high high price on quarterbacks. Head, you don't have to. There's not neither one of them are Watson. Watson is better than what's just let's just ask is Watson better than both those quarterbacks? Justin: I mean, I think so. He's he's not been to the Super Bowl, but I think he's better than both of those guys. So, Cam Newton's been to the Super Bowl. I mean, there's been a lot of people. Sorry, Cam Newton was an NFL MVP. So, you can't tell me that he was not like an excellent quarterback for a period of time. Paul and Kaepernick went to a Super Bowl. Yeah, he played a good, he played in a good, he was Lamar Jackson. He played in that system just like Lamar. Jake: So I think this, I actually think this, I think this makes Watson too rich for my blood. Like for my personal jetty feel, I'm the GM, which I'm not and don't want to be. I feel like it sets the price on him somewhere north of three first round picks, maybe more Justin: north than three first round picks. I think three first round picks was always going to be the thing. It's always going to be three first round. It's always going to be like this year's two, both of them. Here you go. And next year's, one of the two. And this year's number two overall, extremely valuable, which is why you can do it for three as opposed to more. Right. You know, because you have to, you know, you have to think like, well, Miami's in on this probably, but you get to say to you. Why is Miami in on this? Because two, I didn't look so hot. And they're kind of a. Yeah, well, this is kind of a thing, right?
01 Justin: You have to be able to do this. You have to be able to look at it and be like, we were rough, moving on. Jake: Just after the guy in the first round, you played him for half the season, and you're like, we're already gonna trade away for a quarterback? Or is it just because- Justin: Do you wanna wait three years? Do you wanna wait three years to know? Or do you make the assessment now and be like, we're moving on, we fucked up. Yeah, how bad did you fuck up if you just after the kid that year? Well, I think the Cardinals are in a better position than the Jets are. They know who their quarterback is. We don't. We're talking about trading three first-rounders for one. I agree. I agree. So they made a hard decision. You have to do that sometimes. And Miami's doing it. They're actually like... really out there doing it, thinking about it. Like, yeah, too, it might not be the guy here. We actually looked a lot better with Fitz. We would have made the playoffs. They went 10 and six. They would have made the playoffs if Fitz would have just started the whole year. They would have guaranteed. Well, it's guaranteed he wins them one extra game. It's Fitz. No, come on. It's Fitz, man. That's true. That's not funny. He would have fucked it up. That's fair. He would have fucked it up. But but in reality, I think, you know, I hadn't seen a couple of other like. you know, trade rumor things like bandied about on the internet. And one of them, one of them had less picks involved, but had a player involved that I didn't really love. Yeah, it had Quinn and Williams involved and Sam Donald basically like here's a quarterback. Here's a stud lineman. And here's some picks. And basically like the stud lineman is a first round pick. He's playing like a first round pick. So here's a guy in the league that you can use right now. Here's a quarterback that's started in the league for three years that you can play until your rookie's ready. And here's a couple picks. Yeah. Yeah. And what are we doing? Then we have like nobody on the team that we've drafted like for the last number of years. Like what are we doing at that point? I don't like getting up. it. the players if you give up darn old that's fine cuz you're getting the position back but like if you're giving up and quinn and williams could be one of the better interior lineman in the entire league. Jake: Yeah i don't like it give you players either i think i've come to in this last and i thought about this for two weeks and. you know, I did the imagining like, okay, opening day next year, let's say they trade away, let's don't even think about the price. Like what don't even price Watson's on your team, Watson comes in, you see the jersey, whatever you go buy it immediately. Like, where is your excitement level? Like what how close are you? I'm like, well, it's sort of when we drafted Sam. Yeah, okay. But we don't know what Sam was. So it's like, it's higher than that. It's kind of like when we got far. And I guess I know everyone wants to puke in the mouth. I just said that. But we went into that season freaking excited like, hey, there's there's a real quarterback there. Justin: It's that was a good season. Jake: Yeah, it was a good season until he heard and then wouldn't wouldn't step aside. And yeah, we were eight and coming in.
00 Justin: We were eight and three. And good. Like, I remember watching Farr for like six touchdowns in a game that year and being like, holy fuck. Jake: I remember I was at that game. It was amazing. I was actually a friend of mine got me clubs, club seats were in the clubs like on the 50. It was crappy like rainy day, cold rainy day, but we were underneath and at the 50 literally in the in that middle tier like in the really nice suites. And I just remember being the best day of my life like watching this guy just dominate and I'm sitting there as a Jets fan watching a Jets team just touchdown, touchdown, touchdown. and you're like, what is going on? Justin: I think Kerry Rhodes almost killed Dan Quambo in that game too. Jake: I was just thinking that, I knocked him out, I was concussioning for weeks, I remember. It was like a bad, bad thing. He almost killed him. So then you say, okay, if you just got rid of the price... What would Watson do the Jets? And I think you just have to like, well, then we become an immediate contender. The team is unbelievably better. We have maybe the best quarterback in the AFC East at that point. And we're, there's no reason we shouldn't be in the playoffs next year. And if you say that and are you, what's your excitement level? Then you go, maybe it's worth whatever it's worth. Maybe it's worth what four first rounders. Fine. Doesn't matter. We don't get these chances. And, you know, that's sort of got there and is like, OK, I'm ready for it. I'm ready for giveaway. I don't care. All four, especially seeing this stupid ass trade. I'm like four. I mean, would I hit four in Sam? Sure, because that's actually five. I mean, ish. But four find this year, next year gone. Basically, we're giving up. two that we got back for a player, sort of, and then two, and then throw in Sam and a bucket of beans and let's go, let's go party like it's, you know, like it's whatever that year was that we got far. And far was at the end of his career, this kid's at the beginning of his career, like far was, you know, I think he did go on. Didn't he go from a house and they went to play. Yeah, Justin: so I think it's. Jake: I think I'm coming around. I think if they did all in, they said here's four picks here. Here they are. Here's here. The Kings ransom because it doesn't feel like the Kings ransom anymore. This stupid ass trade makes me go well, clearly. evaluation of what mediocre quarterbacks are sorry Stafford don't tell me Stafford's a franchise quarterback. I keep no one if you listing out franchise quarterbacks off the top your head you don't go oh yeah Stafford that he's one no you like questionable at best what's up great numbers reminds me of like. the red rocket. Like it's like it's these guys who like put up great numbers in the season because they're in a weird and the division changes. You know, sometimes the division is good. Sometimes bad when the vision is bad, they do well, but they never make the playoffs and never really go anywhere. He
01 Jake: said I think to playoff birth in 11 years. I mean, you know, Matt Justin: Stafford got stuck like, you know, he stuck. He was stuck in Detroit. It's like being stuck on the Jets. Right. You're stuck into trait. And there's a guy named Aaron Rodgers on this team called the Packers. Right. You're stuck. Just like being stuck on the Jets where there's this team called the Patriots with this quarterback named Tom Brady for 20 years. You're stuck. So like, you know, we know now, especially seeing last week, we know now Jake: Tom Brady is the best. We played against the best for forever. against the best, the best over and over again, the best. There's no, like the goat thing is like funny when he won his whatever six Superbowl, but now it's like, you can't even, like the drop off from Tom Brady and who he is as a quarterback to the next guy is such a huge cliff. It's like. There's no one even does it's like one person and then then this huge gap and then there's other quarterbacks and we played against him forever. Justin: Yeah, he might be he might be facing like the next dude in this Super Bowl. And if this dude wins in this Super Bowl, well, he'll have two under his belt in his first three seasons, which has him kind of on the trajectory and there's nothing that looks like there's nothing that really looks like this kid slowing down. Pat, I was talking about. Jake: We know, we know that half the the absolute miracle of Tom Brady is the longevity. The longevity doesn't happen. You just don't see it. It's not. You have to buy in like he did. And the and the regiments and I mean, he's a crazy ass person with with eating and exercise and whatever and i get it's stuff that he's done to his body to keep it alive i don't think people can do that unless you have that kind of mentality. You see people you see you see quarterbacks even retire early is like i don't wanna do this anymore and you look like yeah no. Angelica could cry gone on and played for ten years and been incredible quarterback and was incredible quarterback. But he's like, Yeah, I don't I don't even want to do this. Like, I don't I've got millions sitting in bank account somewhere. I'm good. I don't need to have my body be destroyed. So to think that some other person can do it for 20 years. No. Do I think my homes could be in three or four intervals? Sure. Do I think he could win six? No, I just don't think I don't think anybody can do that again. Anyway, kind of want to see Tom Brady win it on the other side just because I think that'd be a nice FU to the Patriots. Justin: Honestly, funny, some funny, like, you know, random stats around like, you know, like, I think he beat Breeze and Rogers, right? In this, in this run to get to the Super Bowl. He went through Breeze and Rogers, which is pretty good. Well, let's talk about the championship weekend. Why don't let's do that. AFC champion. Hey, real quick. Hey, hey. Okay. There was this fucking one where it was just, it was like, yeah, um, seasons in the NFC between like Rogers and Brees is like 35.
04 Justin: Wow. And like each of them have been to the Superbowl once. Here's Tom Brady's first year in this fricking conference after being in the other one for 20. And he's in the champion. He's in the fucking Superbowl. Jake: All right, let's talk about championship weekend because it was probably better. I mean, I'm really looking forward to this Super Bowl. I'm getting a little hyped up about it, but I think these two games will probably end up being better. Although they weren't that great. I mean, they weren't they were. But they yeah, they kind of went over each other very quickly. So let's start with let's start with the first game. Justin: First game was good. I really enjoyed watching. Watching, you know, Tom Brady versus Aaron Rodgers, it was just like really just fine. And then it was interesting to watch like where. The offense is really different that I haven't really watched a whole lot of Tampa this year. It's not the same like. You know that thing that you see Tom Brady do a lot. You're not it's not It's not there with Tampa meaning that offense was very like I'm a throw for four yards. I'm a throw for four yards I'm gonna throw for eight yards I'm gonna throw for four yards and anytime you wanted you could throw for like four yards or eight yards or ten yards So like the Welker or the Edelman or that guy that slot guy or that running back that they always had in New England that caught the ball, right? And always had it. That's not there. It's sort of weird, like to have watched them like kind of throw the ball down the field a little more with Tom Brady, which is like, wait, yeah, a little old to be like, what? He's doing this now back to that. Do you remember that? It was like, they just said, we'll, you don't see Tom Brady do back to back shots down the field. Like, what? That guy doesn't He's not his game. It wasn't the cleanest game either, you know, like both quarterbacks turn the ball over. I think Brady picks were not very good. Like, whoa, really? You can't really turn the ball over like that against the Chiefs because they'll just put it to you. But hey, Todd Bowles figured something out as a defensive coordinator and like had Green Bay kind of on their toes a little bit. They weren't able to get like any semblance of a run game going, Which I think, you know, I've watched Green Bay, when they get Aaron Jones going and get get him like 15 to 20 touches and 100 some odd yards, like that's a really hard team to stop. If he only runs the ball like six times and fumbled, like, that's not a good recipe for Green Bay. I know that like they like to throw the ball around, you know, Aaron Rodgers. Yeah, he throws a lot, but they need to run the ball because their defense sucks.
01 Justin: So they need to keep the team off the field. They need to run the ball. And. Yeah, they took it away from them, totally. Tampa was like, nah, you're not running. It ain't happening. So you're going to have to beat us through the air in very specific ways. And Tampa put up more points. That was it. They made a couple- couple of nice plays. And I remember there was one, I think it was like in the fourth quarter, it was like Gronk's only catch. It was like a 30-yard catch and it was like a big play to like ice the game almost or put the game away I was like, of course like his one target in the game like he's basically a blocking tight end His one target in the game was this 30 and, classic Brady Grunk. And I was like, Oh, there they go to the the D.S. Super Bowl. Okay. Jake: Yeah, I think it's just you look at the overall stats of the game too. It's interesting. It's just totally one sided like in terms of everything except for the points. It's like Tampa Bay just figured out how to put up points off of less yards, less completions, less time of possession, less turnovers or more turnovers to the other. It's like. D D D D D D,. and, That drives over and you're done and now you're backed up and now you know, now you have Tom Brady, the ability to move. He's not going to not move the ball. So there's a jet in the Super Bowl. Well, there's an ex-jet head coach in the Super Bowl. There's, what's Hoosy on? Which one? Tampa. And he played for the Jets this year. Justin: Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, oh my, No, we we traded for we traded him. We trade him for like nothing like a fourth round pick or fifth round pick. All right, cool. Well, we picked something up for. And he gets to go play in the Super Bowl. Well, and Bell is in the Super Bowl. And Lady on Bell is on, on Yeah, I was gonna say so let's talk about the other side. We got Buffalo and the Chiefs and Jake: This just felt very one-sided honestly, sorry I mean it started off with this, you know 9-0 in the first quarter and you're like, oh, maybe the Bills have got it They're gonna slow down the Chiefs. I mean the Chiefs didn't score in the first quarter I'm sure that's a very very rare thing to happen and then then it just was a one-sided game and just
01 Jake: Guj, guj, guj, guj, guj, guj, guj, guj. And here comes them scoring 21 points in a second. And once they're out of the gate and you're kicking field goals the entire game, literally the entire game, you can't win. You can't win. Justin: You know where the Bills lost this game? I mean, kickoff? No, no. They lost the game at the end of the half. They lost the game at the end of the first half. They were in the game. You know, they were winning 9-0 and fine, they missed an extra point, whatever. But they were winning and they had some, someone's momentum there at the end of the first half and they got down to like the goal line and they couldn't punch it in and they kicked a 20 yard field goal. Which is useless. Because the like, who cares? You don't need three points there. You're losing 21-9 and you're about to go into half against the Chiefs. Score a fucking touchdown and go for two. Get it to 21-17. Like you can't go in 21-12. You need five more points than that going into the second half. I'm sorry. You can't do that against the Chiefs. You have to know who you're playing and you have to understand that they're going to score. Like 30 plus points, like that's happening regardless of how good your defense is because that's how good their offense is. They're going to score 30 points on you, probably more. So like scoring an extra three points at the end of the half to get you to 12. No, no, you have to work. touchdowns, you're on the fucking two yard line scored touchdown. And yards if you can't get two yards, you're gonna lose anyway. So get to your obviously Josh Allen didn't have a very good game. Jake: I mean, the staff didn't jump out at me is four sacks for 53 yards use 53 53 yards. Justin: There was one of them where he lost like Because he's just game and playoffs. This is the progression. Like next year, if I'm the bills, I'm expecting to be in the Super Bowl. That's my expectations. That's what they are. Expectations are high. Deal with it. Because, look, you make it to the championship game with a quarterback that's still in his rookie thing, and he's looking really good. And they're talking about him as an MVP candidate. You better, your ass better get to the fucking Super Bowl. Jake: It's interesting to see what the Bills do in the offseason because it does feel like you know, are they going to feel like we're one weapon away? Like, we're, we're two guys away from Justin: making. They are. They are. They have Stefan Diggs. He's one of the best receivers in the league.
01 Justin: They need a running game. That's it. We'll see if you need to run again. Jake: Well, do something about it. But yeah, it was it was disappointing. And I have a couple of Bill's friends. And of course, they were You know, they were super hyped up. They were, they, they're like, we're going to destroy the teams. We're going to, I'm like, you're going into their, their place. You're going against the Super Bowl champs. I just don't think they're the same caliber teams. Like if they're not sorry, they're you're not like the only chance they had to win Justin: was really, was really if Mahomes didn't play. That was it. As if Chad Henny was going to start and then it was still going to be a game. Because they're the cheese and they're good. And they're well rounded. Yeah, they're well rounded. Jake: They're not just they're not just this one side team. Their defense is good to talk about like you just have to Justin: throw the ball to Tyree kill anywhere. Hey man, just can we get the ball in your hands and then anywhere and then it just like he just goes. He's so fast. He just goes. It's like, wait, what is this? This is like Madden and cheat code or something. Like, what's going on here? Why is this guy able to just run around and nobody can touch him? It's incredible. That's quite a weapon. Jake: He is. All right. So let's talk about Super Bowl. Let's get to the let's get to the game of games, the game of the big entry. Justin: I was going to give you like some prop bets. Okay, good. He was propping my phone out because I was on the, I was on the, I was on the the gambling app and I was going to come up with some some props for you. So obviously we have, you know, Kansas City, Tampa, Kansas City's favorite by the way, three point favorite. Yep. I've seen it at three and a half elsewhere. I've seen it at three and settling in around three on the betting app that I'm looking at, it is three. Jake: Oh, well, we actually have history being made and that's kind of fun. Justin: Yeah, we have Tampa hosting their own Superbowl. Pretty cool. That is funny. That's the first. Of course, Tom Brady did it. Jake: But that's the curse. That curse has never been lifted. Like we're talking, whatever it is, 50 something times, like it's never been lifted. That's amazing. That was always a curse. Like you never could, if you were hosting, you're like, you're not playing it. That's what we will forget it. Justin: Leave it to Tommy boy. All right. So here we go. Ready? You can bet. to win coin toss endgame if you'd like. But let's get some more fun stuff. So, um, uh, let's see. So, trick play special. Total players to throw a touchdown pass, including overtime. Over or under two and a half? Over. Well, okay. Jake: Oh yeah, well, because you have two quarterbacks. That's two. So you're just saying just one is on either side is someone going to do a trick play where a non-correction. Justin: Where somebody throws a touchdown pass. Yeah, I'd say yeah, I'd say over. I'd take that bet. And if you're taking that, then total players to complete a pass.
02 Justin: It's the same. It's over under two and a half. So you would say over. That's amazing. Yeah. And then the same with attempt to pass, I guess you would say the same. So here's a good one. National Anthem. Also, you're not thinking about injuries, right? So someone's injured. Right. So they can get back up quarterback. Yeah. Right. Totally. So good one. So national anthem, I've never seen it this way. And this is interesting. Usually it's like, you know, over under like, you know, the time like two minutes and 12 seconds or whatever. This is any scoring drive to take less time than the singing of the national anthem. Yes or no? Oh, absolutely. Are you kidding me with those? That's the favorite. I mean, the favorites. Yes, that's minus three 35. So that's You have to bet $335 to win 100. It's first and 10 from the 25 Tyree Kale touchdown. Here's a good one. It's called Fat Man TD. Any offensive lineman to score a touchdown, yes or no? I'm going to go, no, they both have enough weapons they don't need to pull that out of. No is a huge favorite. Any offensive or defensive lineman to score a touchdown? So that includes defensive lineman? Jake: Still no, I still don't think I don't think I think they have enough weapons. I don't need to do that. I have enough runners and quarterbacks and. Justin: Any quarterback to record 500 or more total passing yards? No, no, no, no, both have good defenses. I don't think they're, I don't think you're gonna see 500 yards on either side. Any ruling on the field overturned by a coach's challenge? Oh yeah, at least one. Right. That's a pretty odd, like even that, like a, yeah, that's, that's one. I mean, yes, there'll be one overturned. First team to use a challenge. Docks are chiefs. You get to bet. Uh, oof. I feel like Reed is pretty conservative. Jake: I think they're both pretty conservative. So I don't know. That's two situations. I don't know. Justin: Time that the final play of the game is completed. 10, 14 and 59 seconds or earlier or later. Jake: Will this be a- 10, 15. I'm going to go later than 10 15 because they want to put in as many commercials as possible so they'll do they control that the NFL controls that they can do TV timeouts we sit there in the stadium we see TV time out you like what's going on no no no we're Justin: just playing TV time out new challenge total players to make a reception over or under 15 and a half. Jake: Oh, yeah, 15. So like seven, seven per side, would he spread the ball around that much? Justin: Well, it's actually more than that. It's like, it's it's eight. And it's like eight and seven Jake: and a half. I'm just trying to think like from a side would I'm gonna go. I'd go under on that.
03 Justin: I don't again, I think they they know who they're throwing to. I don't think there's like, Okay. Who do you think is the favorite to win the MVP? Mahomes? Yep. And second? Brady? Third? Oh, Kelsey. It jumps big time. No, Tariq Hill. No, Tariq Hill. Okay. And then Kelsey. Alright. MVP would be quarterback. I mean, like, it's just like 75% chance. I don't know. Yeah, I mean, you might even bet on the position of the MVP, like quarterback, driver, receiver, tight end. There's so much, so much shit you can bet on. It's unreal. I'm going to stop. Jake: Okay, you stop. All right. Let's talk about this game. Well, give me, give me a prediction. Let's see what you're going to say. All right. Well. Justin: It is so hard to bet against Tom Brady ever. It's really hard to bet against him or pick against him in a Super Bowl cause he tends to win them when he plays in them. He plays in really close Super Bowls also. Like every Super Bowl I think he's ever played in has been really close. I think Kansas City wins the game. I think it's lower scoring than most people are anticipating. And I think Tampa covers. So I think the final is 23-21 Kansas City. I don't know how they get to 23, but That's not my problem. Jake: So I agree with everything you said. Justin: I agree. Jake: Well, two things. Well, I agree the Chiefs will win. I think it's hard to pick against the Brady. But remember, we're not. Yes, it is Brady, but we're not really picking as brave. If it was Brady and Bella check on the Patriots, I would never pick against them. But this is just Brady and just Brady just Brady throws three touch three interceptions next next game like they're done. Like they're not gonna win that game. They kind of got away with one. So I think this is a Chiefs win. I do think it'll be close. I actually think it'd be in the 30s. I think just just the way our NFL is it's like, you know, that's sort of the norm. And I think there'll be close enough that the cover I'm gonna I've seen the spread more three and a half. So I'm going to make that my spread, because that's where I've seen it. Justin: I can't do that. I'm sure it'll flux, but it hasn't moved down what we're picking here on Yahoo. It's been three the whole week. Oh, has it? Okay. Well, I've moved like we're getting a half on the office. So I mean, we
04 Justin: could say an office football pool or whatever that website is that hosts probably everyone who's listening to this who's in a pool is probably used office football pool or knows of it. It's a great website. And we're in a pool on that and the spreads three and a half on that. So they give you the half. Cool. I'm picking Tampa anyway, I'll take the half. I'm taking Jake: Yeah, I'm taking Tampa every time in every pool, but I think it's gonna be close both in the 30s. Since I did pick originally again in September, he's Chief's, Chief's Rams, Moam's MVP, I picked 3431. I'm gonna stick to that because that'd be fun because I actually picked at least half the Super Bowl. So I'm gonna pick Chiefs 34. Bucks 31 Mahomes MVP you cover if you get the half. Otherwise, it's a push. Everybody loses money. That's why they have the half in most places. So you don't have players. But I think it'll be a really fun game. I generally don't watch and I guess it's unless it's the Jets, which is not or unless it's a game. I'm like a team. I'm really, I really love. I generally don't watch the seven out seven and a half hours of pregame. Justin: But I think I'll do like two, three hours. Even a record it maybe and just like us through like the that like the boring stuff that they just do like over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. Jake: Yes, like when they cut to the stadium 500 times and then yeah, but I just again, let's just all take a moment. In this pandemic, we are having a Super Bowl. And I if you if you put a prop bet back in the middle, well, the over under, I would have taken the under. So I am just super excited that we get a Super Bowl and we get to see it and it's gonna be on TV and there's gonna be some fans there. Hopefully they'll do it safe Florida. Please try to do it safe. And hopefully it'll be just a great game and a distraction for basically four hours or a day that we can kind of just for a day. Hopefully we can do it again. Come on, Super Bowl weekend. Let's get it going. Well, that's the thing that there's the NFL honors which is an award show that they think they do the night before. Yeah, that's Saturday night usually, right? Yeah, and I've never watched it. Maybe I'll record that and watch that during the. Yeah, that's good. Because that would be fun, like some, you know, maybe you see a jet somewhere. I don't know. Maybe you will. Justin: I doubt it. I doubt it. No. Maybe the Walter Payton man of the year or something. We could win those types of awards because we have good guys on our team. Jake: the most traded away players or the most decimated team throughout the season. We got rid of a lot of players in one season. Like you named two. I think there was. Justin: Our Walter Payton man of the year award nominee was not on the team.
00 Justin: Right. The time at which they announced it. You had already been cut. What the fuck is up with that? Shouldn't you just have to keep the dude around just because? Nope, you're gone. Jake: And we'll we'll be back in a couple of weeks. You know, after we'll settle, then maybe when we get into a little bit of the post-season stuff. Happen. We have no combine this year. Justin: So if anything happens, though, like crazy with trades and such, we'll obviously pop back in because, you know, this. This leading up into the drought, this is going to get nuts here with the tradings. Jake: So the one point I was talking with our mutual friend who's a Jets fan, and we were talking through the scenarios and the picks. Here's one, I think, really good reason to trade away This is going to be a very tough draft to draft. There's no combine, the travel will be limited, the seeing people resume will be most of it. So how are you really going to evaluate these players more? There's guys in this draft that didn't even play this year. And then there's that. So this is it. So if you're saying like, well, there's a number to pick and it's Justin Fields or whatever. He's great. It's like But how long did he even play? How can we evaluate him? How can we see him? We can't see it. Are they gonna have pro days? Are they gonna have quarterback days? I mean, I don't think they're gonna do any of that. So like, this is the year if you wanna say, I'd rather go with a guy who I know versus a bird in the hand versus not. This is the year to give up your draft picks, actually. This is the year to be like, sure, here, you take them. Because... drafting this year is going to be tough. It's gonna be tougher than pretty much any year by people didn't play people were out COVID. No, I mean, there's a ton of reasons why drafting will be tough. So I think that's kind of an interesting like side things like that is interesting. Maybe this is your to say, great, because these quarterbacks don't come on the market, you don't get to trade for franchise quarterbacks. And The guarantees in this draft are not guarantees. And we're seeing that more and more and more. Like, you know, these quarterbacks were drafted three years ago, four years ago, number one Justin: and two are now being cut. We have one on our team. I know we do. It just bugs me. Jake: And it's looking more and more like, again, if the dolphins or what the Cardinals did two years ago like that the evaluation period is not, we used to say three years, we'll see if it's three years or four years. The evaluation period for these guys is no longer three years. And it's like, I mean, two of that's quick as hell. I mean, really one year, like half a year. So maybe we need to stop being so jetsy and stop being so like, well, maybe Sam will turn around into 17th year. He's never won a game. It's like Stafford, like that's it, right? It's like. Justin: No, it's not. If you look at it and you say, Hey, Donald ceiling, isn't that Stafford?
04 Justin: Because he's not as good as Matt Stafford right now. No, no, not even close, actually. Jake: Be like, Wow, is that what I want? No, right? Or do I want the ceiling of do I want the ceiling of Watson? Which we already know what I want. He's already better than Stafford. Right? He's already better to Stafford. He's 25 years old. And if he got no better, he's still a quarterback. He's still better. He's still better, right? So he's still a top 10 quarterback. Even if he got worse, he's still better. He's better. I think, you know what? The more we talk about it, the more I'm convincing myself, I don't care. Sign the King's ransom away. I throw all four on the four, four on the four baby, and throw in players. I don't care, start throwing in players, get the goddamn thing done. I wanna put on that jersey. I'll be sad for Sam, but I will be the most excited Jets fan since Bar. When they announced that Bar thing, I went right out, I bought the goddamn jersey, I was excited, that season was amazing. Justin: Granted, only lasted one year, but See you next time. There was a there was a dick pic involved. Jake: Oh, my God, he was a jerk. He is sexist. He he's, you know, it's terrible, but it was awesome. Justin: So I say get it done. I never podcasting, by the way, we were. If you go back in the history, I don't know if you can find them if they're on the Internet, but the Internet, episode one. I think it was 2016. Episode one took place during that season. Well, episode one was 2007. That was that season. The beginning. That was that season. Man, Jeannie was our coach. Curtis Martin retirement. That was our first podcast. Like Ben with the F.A.R.V. stuff. Jake: Yep. Well, it'll be interesting. Go back and read this. It's on the website. There's a little gap. We recorded it on Skype. There's a gap between 2007 and 2011. Because when we move platforms, I didn't move them. From 2011 to 2000 up, it's very consistent from 2011 on. So for 10 years, but 2007, there's a gap between the first episode and like 2011 just on the website i do have them all and i did have a plan to go back and republish them but haven't done that clearly okay alright that's it that's out for me it's justin it's jake. Let's go jets.
