11 Jake: are high. Get used to it. It's always gonna be that way. Welcome to the Jet Kingdom party. Justin: the longest-running New York Jets podcast on the interweb. I'm your host, Jake, joining me with our new intro. It's Justin. Justin, how you doing? Doing good. I wrote that intro. I wasn't reading it. I was staring at you the whole time. Yeah, but I was pointing at the intro. But I wasn't reading it because I didn't even read what you wrote. I just made it up. You said exactly what I wrote. Oh, well, then we are on the same length, at least for that moment. Yeah, so we're, you can tell people why we're doing it. What are we doing? Well, we're just telling people we're, you know, 97 episodes in. It's the longest running New York Jets podcast. Basically, we're the shit. Yes, excellent. Realistically, we've had a lot of podcasts. And there's a lot of podcasts out there that you go, you look at, if you're a New York Jets fan, you want to look at a podcast, and you're a Jets podcast, you look at the podcast, you're like, oh look, that's a great podcast. Oh, they haven't done anything in two years. Their last podcast was 2007. So we're still around. Sounds like four years ago. Yeah, it's ridiculous. All right, we got a big agenda day. So we're going to talk about some Jets news, a couple things. A foot. in the in the uh jets Well, we're gonna talk about that very quickly, because it's utterly stupid. And then we will head on down to the Pick'em and then the Throw'em Picks. Pick'em is where we pick every game with the spread. We leave out the AFCs, because then we come back in Throw'em Picks and go game by game with our analysis, including the New Year Jets game, which will be a big one. And we will pick our... keys to the castle which i'll be how we're going to win that game alrighty so uh let's start off with some news what news have ye for me uh you know some some injury news that we didn't have when we did our last one on monday some things that have popped up since then uh so santonio home sat out practice on wednesday with turf toe Which I'm not really sure what that is. We both said before the podcast we were like, yeah, I don't know It's the toe injury. All I know is that isn't Pittsburgh a grass field? That's not turf All I've heard is that it is the worst name for a very painful and very debilitating thing People have retired because of turf toe and been not able to play for years because of turf toe That's all I know about it because I know that Deon Sanders is that I've reached a turf is it at least a toe injury I think it's a I think what it is is a broken It's like a broken piece in your foot that then gets angry I don't think it has anything I might have to do with the big toe
01 Justin: I think it's more of it's not like oh, it's a it's an abrasion. It's more like this is a really big deal I think you can play with it through pain right pain management, but shoot him up. Yeah So shoot him up. He says wait. I'm actually kind of disappointing there's been very little news about it. I mean forgot it Yeah, you got some fuzz hanging off here. I don't know why you're staring at my chest. Yeah, that's weird There's been very little news about it. So what we have another injury well Sanchez's shoulder is injured his right shoulder Apparently he was practicing lefty. Yes day or yesterday being Wednesday he was taking snaps and throwing the ball with his left hand which is for most fans of the NFL and if you're a fan of a team when your quarterback has a little tear in his shoulder and can play through it you think okay fine no big deal for newer Jets fans who have been through one quarterback in particular. who spent years rehabilitating his shoulder, it's a little bit like your sphincter just goes because oh my god here we are in shoulder land again shoulder gate. I don't like it. It's the same. I don't think it's the same thing we'll see in his arms stronger to begin with than uh than Mr. Pennington. It just so it's a toy. It's like a tear in the cartilage a broom issue. What is it? It doesn't know doctor I'm no doctor. I just play one on the podcast. So it'll be he's gonna play playing I just I think it's one of the things if he gets hit five times you can be done errs Well, so don't get you don't get hit. Oh, yeah, we're playing, you know a great pass rush. Oh, they're not that great Eric Smith Smith and James Ahedbo did not practice our safeties. Eric Smith with the concussion, Ahedbo with the same injuries, I'm sure he'll play because he played last week. No word of him re-aggravating, probably just taking it easy in practice. Smith not sure about with the concussion. A couple other guys had limited practice. Revis was limited, but I think he's been limited all year with the hamstring. They're just taking it easy. from Marty with the... groin but you know again he's playing right you know just just taking it easy woody out not playing so a couple couple guys well he's not gone he's not an injured reserve he's just not playing because he could possibly come back in the playoffs yeah well he could possibly come back in the in next week so I mean if the Bills game meant something and he could play I imagine he'll play so we'll hope it doesn't If it doesn't, then he won't play. Well, actually, it might always matter, but let's talk about that later. And then Jim Leonard, who has been out, the report came out finally that he's going to be out for three to four months rehabbing this broken leg. And it's not quite as bad as what happened to Leon Washington last year, but he has
03 Justin: talk to Leo about it because he wanted to get some perspective and he's happy with the fact that the Jets staff were the ones that re-add Leon and Leon's come back and been able to do some stuff this year so things are for the first time he actually spoke about it or he was just come out about it and he'll be back by you know by training camp. Let's hope. That's for sure because he's our best safety on the team. Yes he is. We're getting down to no safety. Yeah, we're getting down on the nitty-gritty. So that's all the injury stuff. I will say just as a comment over it, you don't really want to be getting... I mean, I know this happens to a lot of teams, and there are teams which are just, you know, the Colts are losing people, the Cowboys have lost on the Steelers. Steelers are losing people. They're offensive lines. Plus Palomavu, I mean, he might not play again this week. It's just a time of year that you kind of want to have a couple guys coming back. And we have no one coming back. All the guys who are hurt aren't coming back. I mean, Woody, maybe. But it's like, it's a time of year where you just hope you get one or two guys back who are hurt early. We're getting hurt more towards the end and it's worrisome as we head into the playoffs because in theory you got a couple more games going on. How? So there's a key to avoid. So in other news, Rex likes feet. Yeah, he loves them. Did you watch the video? After we watched it together? We watched it together. What a silly question. Yeah, I don't know what to say. Whatever, I don't know what to say either. It was, it's personal matter first of all, so we shouldn't even be talking about it. We shouldn't even talk about it, but let's talk about it. Secondly, it was- If we just talk about Farge's junk, we're gonna talk about frickin' facts. It was kind of funny. It was funny in a disturbing way. If it was him jacking off to feet, I'd be like, oh yeah, that's a fuckfish. Yeah, it's a little weird, but it's kind of just playfully whatever with his wife. She's sitting in a car, fully clothed, and he's just touching her feet and telling me how nice her feet are. I don't know. I mean, Foote Fetish? I don't know. I think Fetish makes it sound like it's black leather or latex. Like it's gross. Right, as opposed to he's playing around with his wife with a video camera and they're just talking about stuff and then someone gets loaded up. YouTube, which... How does that happen? I think she did it. Why? I don't know. Because it was fu- If you were telling your friend that, like you're coming over like, look we made this funny video, it's fine. The media picks it up, it turns into a fetish video, then it's ugly. If I say it's, hey look it's funny, you know, my daughter did a video of her and the dog like leading him around the apartment with little pieces of his kibble. I know, that was funny. It was hysterical. but you could do like animal cruelty video, Jake of Jet Kingdom, child labor law, or you could say she was unattended because the wife was in the shower. That was actually the funniest part.
01 Justin: That was the funniest part of it. And no one on the podcast will never see this video. Actually my daughter's not in it, she's taking the video. Which is even more stunning. Which is funny. But anyway. You could... see if someone, if they wanted to, could take that and say, unattended child feeds Rabin's dog something. I don't know. This deserves about... Last time than we've already spent on it. Way less time. So let's move on. Let's take it out in post. Yeah. So you won't hear this when you're hearing it, because we'll take it into that. Well, they won't know what they didn't hear. Exactly. They heard what they heard. You didn't hear it. All right. Moving right along, so Chicago, kick some butt on Monday night. Our opponent, which we recorded the first of this week on Monday morning, so we didn't know what was going to happen. I think we assumed Chicago would win. And cover. And cover, yeah. They... kick some butt on Monday night, they clinched their division, having lost to New England. And they're essentially playing for a second seed in the NFC with Atlanta, probably going to run away with the first seed. Very, you know, interesting. There are a couple caveats to the win, you know. Again, the team was, you know, The Vikings were preparing all week with Joe Webb to be the starting quarterback and out of nowhere, Favre starts. This is the only thing that... Oh, not the only thing, but if you really want to have reasons to hate this guy, one thing you want to do to give your team a chance to win is consistency. And not that Joe Webb is the next second coming of Tom Brady the backup, but if you spend all week getting ready... preparing mentally, physically, you know, studying up. And all of a sudden, the old guy comes in like, yeah, no, no, no, you ain't starting. I'm taking the spotlights, Monday night. I'll play enough snaps. I just, I don't know. He just, I mean, I know I'm spinning it because I don't like the guy, but like. Thank you for watching! What a dick. Yeah, first off the conditions were miserable. They were. I mean the whole lead up to the thing was like, look how crappy it is here. It is freezing cold. They moved it to a... It's ice. Like the whole field is like ice. It's frozen. Like playing on concrete. Um. And then, you know, Farb started, and then they got down like 17-7 or something like that, and then he gets a concussion, and then he's out. And then Joe Webb comes in. Not like he did anything, because then Chicago just absolutely murdered the man. Oh yeah, well Joe, they just, they, they... But, but the whole point of like leading up to the game, I, not that Joe Webb could have won that game, but that... Not without Adrian Peterson. He didn't play either. and he was supposed to that was what he was like oh it's cold fuck this I'm not playing fuck this freezing we can't make the playoffs I don't care make the playoffs they can't get a win that's why I mean I don't care I'm not playing my ankle hurts and my
02 Justin: conspiracy theory is that that yet far went out there thought well you know what if I could turn this in one of these games and he's been in these games like There's some major thing happening and he turns around and wins the game everybody goes. Oh my god, Lord farb has arrived They he saw this is not going the way he wants this to go He's like, you know what next time I get hit harder than I normally get hit. I'm gonna say I'm done Concussion my ass. I yeah your hit your heart your your head hit but I also be grabbing for another part of your body and I just think he went. He went, hey Adrian, how's that seat over there? Alright, I'll come and join you buddy. Anyway, and the NFL or the NBC has the fuck nut balls to flex the Eagles game, Eagles, a Vikings game. Like the I don't care bowl. Well, it's possible that other networks protected certain games. In reality, I'd rather see the Giants' Green Bay game in prime time, because it's basically a playoff game. Yeah, it is. It's a winning year in. for the Giants and for the Packers. it's losing your out. So I'd rather see that game in prime time or even being selfish. The Jets Bears game is a prime time. Two 10 and four teams from opposite conferences, playing each other, one to clinch playoff, one to get the home field. I mean, that's a good matchup. But it's true if you look at all the games, and we're going to go over the games and pick them, but if you look at all the games that are on Sunday that could have been flexed. You could see how CBS protected one and Fox protected the other and then freaking NBC had to go, alright well give us, I guess, Minnesota. Yeah, I mean there's some, give us Michael Vicks. There's some decent games. He might throw up 70 points. There's some decent games though and looking at, I mean, Indy at Oakland's a good game. That's a good game. But it's not the best CBS game. Well that's what I mean, why wouldn't NBC pick that game? Take Manning and put him in Oakland. I mean that's a good game. Is Oakland in convention for the playoffs? Yeah, absolutely. I mean that's a good game. See that, I think that would have been a better game. Maybe it doesn't have enough appeal to the country. Yeah, but Oakland's got great fans in Oakland and Peyton. It's Peyton Manning. I mean that always goes over at night. That probably would have been better. I think it would have. That's just me. You're right. They're wrong. Let's move on. I'm always right. They're always um and Then what else well, how about the matchup against Chicago I think the Jets matchup really well. Hey, you're jumping ahead of everything. Oh, I thought we're gonna do that before we do the picks No, we talked about the matchup. We talked about the game Let's get to our checking them pick them Let's do it. Actually, let's go over last week's deals. So the hun, the wife, my wife, she won last week. 11. Good job. Good job. 11. Overall leader still Mike 126. He's gonna
05 Justin: win this thing. Yeah, he's got a lot out there. He's like, you're gonna win something. We will send you a job. Mike last week. I had eight, you had nine. So you won the week between the two of us Excellent. But overall, I'm still four games ahead of you. Realizing 14 to 110. But realizing four is not a big number. Not with the whole play up to now. I've been pretty consistently ahead of you between three and six games all year long. But now you're less than six. But I'm more than three. But more than three. True enough. So let's go ahead and pick some games. Alright, let's start it off. First of all, do we have all the lines? Are all the lines out? Uh, yes. Every line is out because we're doing this on a Thursday. So we have our lines and... And speaking of which, because we were just talking about the game, that Philadelphia game is a 14.5 point spread. That means that the suck game is just like, it's going to be a blowout. Yeah, the Philly, Minnesota game, not good. Basically, you need to watch Michael Vick throw...see if he can... pull like a 300, 200, 100, like run for 200, throw for 300, and I don't even know, crawl for 100. Yeah, I agree. So let's go ahead and... So Thursday night, tonight, there's a game. Wait, let's stop. Alright, let's talk a little bit about the playoffs and areas. Do you want to do that? Because the playoff scenario that we should be focused on, there is one scenario where we still win the top seed in the NFL. This is true. Which is crazy. It's very crazy. But listen, last year there was no chance in hell and our coach gets up on a stage, on a podium and says we're out of the playoffs. A lot of things have to shake out our way. And then we went to the AFC Championship. So let's just- So it's a simple scenario. And do we know that this is absolutely true? Yes, it is. Okay, so it's essentially we win both our games, right? We play Chicago on the road and we play the Bills at home. The Bills, yes. And New England loses both their games. They're going to Buffalo this week and they have Miami at home the last. So two division games which are... tougher than regular games. So think about that last game. Miami playing Patriots to help us win. In New England. This is the scenario of the Green Bay game. And it's at the same time though as the Jets built. That's true. That was before and we went in at the four o'clock. So I just want to say let's... I know you don't want this to happen. I don't want to. It's very odd. But they're up against two division rivals. Right? I think it's doable. So let's now move on to picks and we'll talk maybe about those. That's my nice little playoff scenario. Alright, so starting tonight, Thursday night, we have on Quasi-National Television, meaning the NFL Network, we have the Pittsburgh Steelers at home coming off the short week but didn't have to. to travel anywhere and the loss and the loss facing Carolina coming off a win
04 Justin: Carolina shouldn't be winning they should be losing so that they get the number one overall how the game he wants no one pick why it's a Andrew Luck and he's awesome so so we're all the quarterbacks are not playing right now I'd want him Sam Bradford worked out pretty well. It's one year. Again, he looks like he's good. So is Tavares Jackson. So has... Tavares Jackson? What are you talking about? That guy wasn't number one overall. You have no idea what you're talking about. He was first round. Not even close. No way. Tavares Jackson? Yeah. No way. You look that up. No way. Alright, so Pittsburgh's giving 14 and a half and I think I'll win by like 28. So I'll take Pittsburgh. because it is actually working for me to do this I'm gonna pick as we talk talk and pick and I will pick this one as well because that works for you Yeah, cuz I've been doing a little bit better when we do that as opposed to me doing like it three in the morning Well, oh because you're picking as we're going. All right, yeah, yeah, uh Christmas Christmas has a game Saturday Saturday night again on the NFL Network Dallas goes to Arizona some great games for the NFL now. They literally had Oh terrible. They got one good one And they got that great one three years ago when it was Giants, Patriots. And they got one other, like the two, I think the two, wasn't it, they had some other game like last year, they won. It basically had, there's seven games they get, they get like one great game. Shows how hard it is to project out 12 weeks into the season. I also think they get the last pick. So Fox... CBS pic no first NBC pic. There's no way NFL Network gets like the last pic. Yes, they do. You know why because the other guys are paying them billions of dollars Yeah, but the NFL Network gets like Colts games. They get you know, this is a Dallas You know these Dallas Arizona now It looks like shit But before the season started Arizona was Dallas was gonna go to the Super Bowl and Arizona's two-time defending champion their of their division went to a Super Bowl two years ago so it doesn't look that it shows how hard it is to pick a game 16 weeks into the season what did it happen I think the Dallas favored by six and a half on the road I still think they win they're playing better now I think they balance I think they win but I don't think they're gonna win by I'll take the I'll take the home team and taking the points. All right moving right along we have Baltimore heading to Cleveland Baltimore giving three and a half Baltimore wants to win that division They're gonna keep keep pounding away. I think Baltimore will win this game by like Five to seven points. So giving only three and a half. That means I'll take Baltimore I think this will be close. I think this is a division game. I think it'll be close. I think there's an outside chance that Cleveland could surprise and win. This is kind of what they did last year. At the end of the year, they won their last three games against division foes. You know, there is one thing that I forgot about while picking this game, even though
03 Justin: I'm not going to waver. I'm going to stay with my ball. It's the whole Baltimore going to Cleveland, the old Browns coming back to Cleveland. You're staring at me with my eyesight. No, I'm staring at you like trying to figure out... That's a big thing in Cleveland. That doesn't change the game. I feel as if it makes it more intense for the fans and it's just a more intense game. So the fans will be more riled up. Don't you feel like when there's a Jet Game and you can feel the intensity? It's a the home team plays that's every game I ever go to you suck. Anyway, you have Cleveland I have Cleveland take them. I'm taking all right, Kansas City playing for Essentially, I think if they win this game they won their division Cuz they're game up on San Diego which would I think that would do it for him but Kansas City hosts Tennessee who's falling apart even though they won last week Kansas City giving five they're tough at home I'll take Kansas City yeah I think and when you're talking about the games and as I get closer to the end of the year I'm gonna go more of if there's bigger spreads I'm gonna go with the points because you just don't think these teams I don't think there's mean blowouts a lot the way so I'm gonna say update Tennessee in the five points. You think five is a big spread? I think these games are gonna be really close like three-point games. Tennessee has literally nothing to play for. Okay we will. Who did better last week? Who's doing better over the course of the year? Who did better last week? Who did better all year long? Who did better last week and many weeks? Who's had a four? Have I had a 4? Oh, okay. Who hasn't been below 7? I think you've got a 6. Maybe one 6. Anyway, whatever. So that would be you. St. Louis! In a huge NFC West battle, St. Louis hosts San Francisco. San Francisco could still win this division, but they'd have to win this game. St. Louis right now is winning the division. in there six and eight. They win this game, they're kind of in the driver's seat. I will take St. Louis giving two and a half. They're a good home team. They'll take care of business. They have the playoffs in sight. St. Louis at home, riled up, need to play hard. They're gonna win this game and they'll win by morning. Is there any doubt that Mike Singletary will be fired? at the end of the game next Sunday? Uh, yes. It could be Monday morning. Okay. Uh, he'll be fired immediately. Alright, moving right along. The Fins! The Miami Dolphins at home! Really? In the East? Yeah baby! Fuckers! I haven't messed up in so long. Damn, and there were two in a row above and I skipped both. Ah, fuck. Alright. What's the next game? Jacksonville. Nice. Leading their division. He was home and hosting Washington. They have the playoffs in sight, Jacksonville does.
01 Justin: And the spread is seven It should be bigger than seven. It should you got Rex Grossman coming in there? I don't he didn't he say he was gonna start the other guy. He's like, I want to see No, he did he talks gotta stick with Rex. No, he said I wanted to take a look at the other guy, too No, he's literally playing musical chairs. No, he's playing Rex Grossman Um Rex Grossman definitely playing not gonna have a week like you had last week First of all, they were losing to Dallas 30 to 14 and then they scored like two touchdowns and two point conversions Not gonna happen against Jacksonville. I don't think I think Jacksonville take care of business Given seven give me the Jaguars. Yeah, I think give me jaguars and you get raised up a couple. Alrighty San Diego goes to Cincinnati Cincinnati just won their last game. San Diego's gotta win this game I mean if they don't make the playoffs that's definitely the best team to not make the playoffs in a while because They're like, you know, statistically just like the best offense, best defense. It's so odd. I actually hope they don't because I'm so sick of hearing, and you've said it 10 times in this podcast, the Sandy Gutierrez starts weak, but then triumph in the end. Actually... That's not something you can lean on every year and be like, well, we'll just give up the first four games and then we'll make it up in December. I kinda wouldn't mind if they did make the playoffs. If you want to play them. And then we'd play them instead of Kansas City. But anyway, San Diego goes to Cincy giving 7.5 that hook. But Cincy doesn't have TO. Since he kind of sucks, they do have Carson Palmer, which is a bad thing. So I think San Diego crushes them in this game. I'll take San Diego. Surprises isn't bigger. Surprises isn't a bigger spread. Yeah, I'll take San Diego. And 7.5 Road favorite is a lot of points, but still. But this is also a team that went to house, went to town last week, San Diego. Stephen Jackson, let's just say Jackson. Vincent Jackson. Vincent Jackson. Lots of Jacksons. Jackson 5. Jackson 6. They killed San Francisco and that's comparable opponents to Cincinnati. That's what I'm saying. Moving right along. Houston is favored on the road. Don't like a five and 19 favorite on the road, even though it is Denver, it's two and a half. Just give me the home team, give me Denver. Houston shouldn't be favored on the road. That's ridiculous. Give me Denver, two and a half. I'll take it. Houston, tradition, you know, they're a dome team. I don't think this will be what they're doing. They have no heart. That's good. That's a good thing. They don't have a heart. They get down 21 nothing like nobody's business and then they fight back And then they lose that's what they do. They're very good. I don't think they'll fight back. I think they're done They're out of the playoffs officially. They're done. Yeah, they're done and we'll be fired as well On really? Oh for sure Really? This is a team that's supposed to have been like, you know turned a corner this year and like they finally had a winning season
03 Justin: You have all this talent. They have so much talent on offense. They have talent on defense too. They just don't put it together It's like it's just the cowar bowl like everybody's trying to go for coward Dolphins are gonna go for the coward rumor has it that if the Giants don't make the playoffs. That's where he's going To the Giants. That's what the rumor is. They have a head coach that they haven't fired yet Yeah, but I don't think he has a contract for next year. He has one more year. One more year Well, if they don't make the playoffs after last year's 8 and 8 and bad finish. Again, if they had a bad finish and don't make the clefs again, rumor has it he'll be gone. But anyway, this is not giant kingdom, it's giant kingdom. Moving right along, we got the Colts on the road in Oakland, which I think is a really great game. Colts are giving 3 on the road. No, it's four o'clocker. Oh In the yeah, I'm looking at it. It's a four o'clock. Then I'll watch that on the west coast. It's in Oakland I think I like Oakland in this game. I think Oakland can run the ball I think Oakland can I think they can run the ball on the Colts they have McFadden They can they can make some things happen I think Oakland's better than than people think that they are like like they're they're actually not You know, they're not a bad team and getting three at home in Oakland tough place to play I'm gonna take Oakland there seven and seven culture eight and six, you know, they're That's what it is. Yeah Austin Collie after the year donsions too many concussions just one too many I'm too many really I will say I'll take cults. I'll take the cold Again, this is the team. I'm gonna stick with my prediction This is a team that get to the playoffs could be dangerous. Yeah, if the Colts get to the playoffs. Yeah Sure. Oh right now they're in the you you you have also got on record in saying that that's who you want the Jets to play I do although you also think that they'll be dangerous. Why can't I have both things? You can well if wait if we go We can't yes, no Well I do. I do and I'm done. Can't think with the brain and the heart. Let's talk about it. Alright, moving right along. This is probably a game of the week. Green Bay hosting the Giants at 4.15. That's good. That'll be on the big screen. Yeah, this is a good game. So Green Bay, all things point towards Aaron Rodgers playing in this game. I haven't heard definitively a yes or no, but I imagine he's practicing. He's smiling. I think he's cleared He's got to be he's almost cleared for last week, and I think they thought We're gonna lose this game. This one doesn't This game matters, but doesn't matter as much as next game rather give him the week More green Bay's favored by three the standard three. I Just can't see how the Giants actually come back from last week I think they're done, I like Green Bay. That's a tough one. The one thing that the Giants do very good is sack the quarterback. I mean, they have, each of their ends have 10 sacks each. Right, they're very good at rushing the quarterback. The one thing that Aaron Rodgers is good at is getting sacked.
01 Justin: So Green Bay has a really good defense though. Like they do. They will pick Eli off a couple times. Couple times, and probably run to the house. So I'll take Green Bay with. And say they'll cover the three. I mean that's a good game That's a good game because if Green Bay loses, they're out I hope that I hope the Jets win so I can enjoy that game the Jets lose that game will be like All right moving on yes another NFC battle Tampa Bay Who I believe is still alive in this whole? wildcard discussion hosting Seattle who is still alive in the NFC West at 6 and 8 and do not believe Pete Carroll has announced whether or not Hasselbeck will start or Whitehurst will start at quarterback either way give me Tampa given six and a half because they got a win I know Seattle's got a win too but Why do they keep sticking with Hasselback? It seems like every year it's like... Because he's better than any other option that they have. Well, but that's true if you only play within the one year, but if every year you have a chance to go get someone else, then you don't, and then you play with the one guy you have, but he's not very good, and you don't get another one the next year, and the next year, next year. He's not bad. I feel like he's riding the year that they got to the Super Bowl as like his card But every year since then that team has just been bad. But but that I mean that's not always on the quarterback It's not like he's terrible. He's a decent quarterback. They haven't had a running game in years They don't have name of my receiver that team. They're all gone. Hushmanzada gone. Name one. I know. Hushmanzada played there for one year. He doesn't even count. Name one that's been there. The guy's on the Patriots now. He played there for Deon Branch. Not there anymore. I know. People I've gotten rid of. They don't have talent around them so that's not fair to blame a quarterback. No, I just don't think he's very good. You okay? He didn't make a Super Bowl Philly Sunday night Philly hosts, Minnesota Giving four weeks and a half. Oh, I picked Tampa Yeah, Tampa Bay at home agreed Philly Moving on Philly hosts, Minnesota Philly's giving 14 and a half I think they'll probably win like 31...9 or some... 31-7 or something like that. I'll take Philly. It's a lot of points. The hook is annoying. But I'll take it. The Brett Bar factor. So there's still no thing whether you can play or not. You say absolutely not. No, no way. And based on what I saw the backup do last week... Yeah, I don't think they're gonna. It's not really a quarterback. They drafted him like, kind of like how we drafted Brad Smith. You know, it's like, it's like, all right, the Jets are starting Brad Smith at quarterback. It's like, all right, wonderful. I just, I want to yell at somebody again about why this is the number one game.
00 Justin: It shouldn't be. It's like, let's showcase Michael Vick. Yeah, for MVP. I literally think this is the Michael Vick MVP. story show and how many times we're gonna see the return and I'm for it like I I think it'd be a great story to have the guy come back I like that he's you know turned his life around all that stuff still not the MVP in my book who was the MVP? Tom Brady. That that alone makes you not a Jets fan. It's just true. Yes it is. I can look at it objectively and say Tom Brady's had the best year in the league. Fans aren't objective. I am objective. They are fanatics. They are fanatics. I broadcast. Ladies and gentlemen, Justin Justin, he's a broadcaster. I'm a podcaster. Please tweet the hell out of him and tell him he's not a broadcaster. Broadcasting live from, yeah, whatever. Top of the Times Square. Recording this live. sometimes. Square. All right we have one more game. We do! Well who'd you pick? Who'd you pick? I'm going to say. Philly. Philly. Okay so this is the Monday Night Game, really great game. Atlanta vs. New Orleans. Atlanta has it locked, right? No they don't. If they win this game it's locked. Okay. I thought they had this lock. No, no, I don't. They're the number one seed right now. Right now, Atlanta is the number one seed. Um, you know, they are 12 and 2. New Orleans is 10 and 4. Two games ahead of everybody though. Right, but New Orleans is 10 and 4. I think, you know, what's Philly? Are they 10 and 4 or are they 11? I think someone can... Jake: catch them if they don't win their last two games but I'm pretty sure they will. Justin: So I'm picking Atlanta at home giving two and a half. They're really good at home. They don't lose at home and I think they'll win by a field goal or more against New Orleans. Mattie Ice is one of the people that's in the top four for MVP. He shouldn't be. It's Vic, Rivers, Brady, and Mattie Ice. I would take Mattie Ice over Rivers for MVP vote. MVP should not be based purely on statistics. No. And especially if you're quarterback, I like wins more than stats. For quarterbacks, wins is a better stat than yards. for quarterbacks. Yeah, let's not have this discussion because this is the whole EOI painting manning versus Tom Brady discussion. Yes. Do you think Tom Brady is a better quarterback than Peyton Manning? No, I just think he is. Alright. He doesn't make as big of mistakes and big spots as Manning sometimes does. Let's move on. Well who'd you pick? You didn't even pick anybody. I picked Atlanta to cover. All right. Moving along, let's go to the throne picks. Three matchups. So this is the AFC East picks of the week. We have three matchups this week. We have New England going to Buffalo. I have Buffalo winning this game. And it's not because I want New England to lose so that the Jets can get that.
03 Justin: So this is exactly. You yelled at me about you. You say one thing and want one thing. But you say I want something else. But this is a pick with my brain. I actually think Buffalo can beat New England. Is that like just completely silly? No, they almost beat them in the beginning of the year. The rookie quarterback. Again Aaron Rodgers playing that game last week. I think I think we may wins We may wins that game last week if Aaron Rodgers playing maybe not even just the last play I'm talking the whole game. They were close the whole game. They had an elise. They made some defensive mistakes that that kid Good news. I think you cannot make miss If you have an opportunity to do something against against the paths and you don't take advantage of it Meaning if you drop two interceptions, you cannot do that against the path You have to make those interceptions. Because if you miss the opportunity, too late. You're not going to get another one. Too late. So here's the thing. Tom Brady is with the flu right now. Puking has got to go. Good. Fuck him. Oh, he's a great easy- You throw open his hair? Maybe. That'd be awesome. Hold my hair, I have to throw up. Jake: Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Justin: That almost makes up for you sucking his cock before, but... Um... Hold my hand! That's hysterical. So he's... He has no boosh. He will play, no doubt. I think there's every reason to believe that the Patriots could lose the Bills, except for the Patriots. Jake: And... Justin: The Bills will be up. for this game. Oh, I think the Bills, this is their Super Bowl. I'm hoping this is a Super Bowl and they win it, so next week they're Pro Bowl and they don't give a shit. So they can take a nap and we'll take a nap. My score is 23-17. The Bills win. Just throw it out there. The Pats are favored by 7 and a half. The defense of the... The defense of... the Patriots is young and it's an experience and it's making mistakes. They're playing big sometimes but they're making mistakes. They've got a I think you know Out of the playoffs, eliminated last week with their loss? It'd be great if they went 1-7 at home and then 7-1 on the road, because that would mean that they would beat the Pats next week. That would be an amazing 8-8 year. Getting your 88, which I think is what we both predicted. You may have picked 9-7. So I have Detroit winning this game in Miami, because I just don't think Miami is that good at home. I think Detroit plays tough everywhere and they can beat them.
00 Justin: Detroit is not good on the road. They played tough though. They played tough but they don't win. Yeah, well they just did win. Now the Monkees off their back. You know how I judge teams? Why? By winning. Now by playing tough. The Monkees off the back. If playing tough was the Super Bowl, the Bills would be the Super Bowl champions this year because they'd play the toughest. The Monkees off their back. They can do it. now. Miami plays like shit at home. Detroit wins 2013. I think Miami goes into next year mode and says, you know what, let's just fucking play. Let's not play Dan Hennings stupid play calling. Let's just play. Well, they have to run the plays that he calls. I think he said he's going to retire, so he doesn't even give a shit anymore. Hopefully, they'll hand it to- like hopefully they'll handle the monkey that's off the line's back so he can make the calls. I think they're gonna win at home. I think they're gonna want to do a little bit of, you know, and Detroit's just not a good team. They're not a good enough team to go down to Miami in the middle and in the heat and beat Miami. I don't think they are. 18 to 20, fine wins. Dom can sue, three sacks. Uh, Game of the Century, Game of the Millennium, Game of the Week, Game of the Week. New York Jets go to Soldier Field in Chicago and face the Bears, which I think, duh Bears, is a very good matchup for the Jets and here's why. Okay. Matchup, positively or negatively? Great matchup for the Jets. Okay, I'm ready. I'm ready to hear it. Mistake prone quarterback. Ha, so yeah, okay. I got some stats. Mistake prone quarterback. Terrible offensive line. So they won't know, you know, they're not going to be able to pick up like schematic things like when we overload and really we're only rushing four but three of them are coming off the edge on the left. Like they're not going to be able to cover that. Quick stat. The Bears have the most negative yard running plays of any team in the AFL. They're not going to be able to run the ball against the Jets and in order to be effective for them, they have to be able to run the ball. You've got to have the chance that they're going to give the receivers a chance to make a play. The color holds on the ball way too much. They don't have the receiving options. to play against our secondary. I'm not even sure, this is not a match-up game, Reavis on this guy, Kremarti on that guy. If it is, maybe you throw Reavis on Johnny Knox and then say, all right, fine, Kremarti, you get Earl Bennett or whoever else they're throwing out there at receiver, but it's not really one of those games. And they're predicated on the big play. down the field and I don't think it'll happen. It doesn't happen very often to the Jets where they get beaten deep particularly lately. It just isn't happening and that's their whole offense. Their defense, I think we can beat them with quick plays. I think we'll be able to run on them.
01 Justin: People haven't but I think we will be able to. And as long as we keep Chicago's offense to around 10 points, we'll be able to win. And I think that's what, that's sort of what will happen. So it was one of those re-keys to the castle? Yeah. Which was, what was it? Oh, yeah. Oh, um. My key to the castle is... On offensive defense. Oh, on defense. Hi, welcome to the Jet Kingdom podcast. On defense. Yeah, all right. No big plays. Nothing down the field. No big plays for Chicago. Yeah, because that's where they... I don't see them being able to sustain drives against us. So as long as we don't give up a 50-yard touchdown pass or a 60-yard... play from their own 20 down to their own R20, we'll be able to take care of business. No big plays. I think that's a good one. I too think we can win this game. I am not, you know. I think we match up really well. I'm very confident about this game. Oh, that hurts. Don't say that type of stuff. I'm not confident about this game because they're not. a shitty team. There are 10 and 4 teams. They've won games, they've beat better, they've beat teams, but they've also gotten beat and died teams, just like the Jets. They're kind of, you know, I hate when they say, they're mirror teams because they're not. What I was interested in when I was watching the Monday Night Game and, you know, because I was scouting. Advanced scouting. Advanced scouting. A lot of like just named players. Like people that if you threw out to the general public or even just semi NFL players and said Peppers, Ehrlacher, Hester, Briggs, Briggs, I wouldn't throw it there Cutler even Forte, I don't know these were newer but big names, you know And they're winning games, so you can't give it. I think they're in a division that's kind of, you know, obviously Minnesota not a big container this year. Obviously, Lions, a team that generally doesn't do very well. Green Bay's had up and down this year. So you get some of those wins by playing in a week conference, semi-week conference. It's supposed to be a big conference. I don't think it is a big conference. It's only division. It's not like the Jets playing the AFC East which has some really good teams and one of the best teams in football They don't have the best team of football in their division not even the top three teams They would be the best team in their division, right? But I'm saying they don't have the other one and it's not like they have the Eagles and whatever and they're in the capital and like the NFC East They've got great teams now one year one is taking a complete shit storm this year, but generally Cowboys Eagles Giants they're good teams like they're you know, and then you got the rest anyway, so I don't know who this team is I swear every week we talk about them as being a shitty team, but here they are ten wins You know, they can't do stuff, but then they win You know last week. I think they could have went if they just
00 Justin: literally rolled out Forte to take every snap. I don't think that was gonna be a game today. So I'm worried about their defense. I'm not so worried about their offense because I agree with you. I think we'll be able to stop it but I am worried about their defense. And the thing with those big plays on offense is that you can always get the big play and the effing penalty, right? We pay very close and we play rough and physical with the receivers and sometimes those lead to, you know, First and one from the or first and goal from the one-yard line Because there's a you know questionable touch, so I'm worried about that Since I'm picking offense I think this game has to be a quick strike game We just played against a great defense So I think this is just I agree with what you said before is it has to be quick strike Pepper's just gonna line up everywhere. It's this thing, he's like six, he's seven foot two, he's like a giant, and it's six, seven. And he lines up everywhere. So he's gonna test, you know, the rookie, he's gonna test our rookie, and he's gonna test Hunter, who's the second game doing the same spot. And I'm worried about Sanchez, thinking that he can like duck down. Who's our rookie? Slauson. Oh. Well, he's not a rookie. He's a first year starter. He's starting for the first time in that position all year long. I'm worried about him testing those guys. Deep brick, I think, will be fine. So if I were to divide with the Chicago Bears, I'd say, oh yeah, this guy who's only starting this position, let's just line up over him the whole time and just pound him. So I'm concerned about that. Sanchez, you know, I think he thinks he can make more scrambles than he can. He seems to make a lot, but I think he thinks he can make one or two more than he actually can. So if he gets 10 scrambles a game, I think he thinks he can make all of them. He makes about eight of them. And again, as he grows older and smarter, he'll probably think he can make less of them, and he'll throw more of the ball. So this is another big Keller game for me. It's Keller, Keller, Keller, Keller. Keller hasn't done shit. Well, he had some big catches in the guess of Steelers. That's not true. Three catches for 18 yards. They were at times when we needed them. I don't think he's gonna be the breakaway player, but. We need him to have one of those like, down the seam 38 yard passes. Like where are those? Why hasn't that been there? Because we, I don't know. We have these other receivers that we like to do those plays with. So that's my thing is I want this to be a very quick offense to keep that defense who just wants. to tee up on the quarterback, keep him off balance. Because then, a nice swing pass to Lydani and he can run 20 yards, like that kind of stuff works when they're throwing peppers in as far as you can. The other thing is to watch out for, is they're very good at blocking the ball, like getting up and getting their hands up, peppers is huge, so and. Sanchez is not 7-2, you know, he's not Ben Roethlisberger or whatever So I'm worried that he's gonna have one of those, you know Try it try to throw it through him and up comes the giant that he knocks the ball down So just be very careful quick passes. Let's let's let's play the offense. We played last week do it again, you know Yep, and kick away from Huster every fucking yes, don't kick him the ball. Don't kick him. I do you think we will stop kicking to
07 Justin: Brad Smith No, because you can't. On kick returns? Yeah, I guess we can. If we go this far, I think. I mean, again, if Hester has to return kicks, right, your kicks and puns, you know, you can pop the ball up, you can squib it, you can do all sorts of things. You know, I wouldn't mind seeing, you know, Jett's get the ball first, score a touchdown. I wouldn't mind seeing just onside it right there. All back. Yeah, I think it's one of those games. Gotta win. Yeah, well, when we're in, we win this game, we get into the playoffs somewhere, we don't know exactly where. It depends on what's going on with the other teams. But, uh, oh, so scores. So score, I say JETS. 24-19. Wow, similar. 23-17. Very similar. Oh, by a couple points. Alright, well that wraps up this week's episode. Jet Kingdom podcast, follow us.
